La Fea Más Bella #222 3/1/07 In Which Lety Referees
Irmita answers a phone call from Rulli. She confirms that the received the gift. She promises to tell Luigi that Rulli called. As she hangs up, she smiles and thinks “Oh, these young’ens…”
Tomas watches Alicia from afar and feels bad for her, knowing that she mistakenly thinks that Aldo is interested in her. Should he tell her? No, he decides, because she’d slap him again. Meanwhile, Alicia cries at her desk. Tomas looks worried about this. He goes to her desk and asks her what’s wrong. She says it’s something Catastrofico. He looks worried, but then she explains the death of her cell phone. Tomas reaches into his pocket, hesitates, then takes out his own cell phone. He offers to lend it to Alicia. He has a hard time handing it over and his fingers squeak on desk as he pulls away, indicating just how hard it was to let go of the phone. Alicia happily takes the phone and rewards him with an “Ayyyy Tommy!”
Julieta asks Robopop what do he thinks of Aldo. Robopop says he seems decent. Julieta says she thinks he is enchanting, and so does Lety. Robopop asks if mom is trying to marry them off and quickly adds that Lety is too busy and has too many responsibilities to think about marriage.
Tomas writes his cell phone number on a yellow sticky note for Alicia. Tear tracks have left streaks down her face but she is ecstatic. She looks at the sticky for a second and says she has already memorized the number. She promptly disposes of the sticky by pasting it on the front of his hair. (Tomas really looks like Woody Woodpecker with that new shade of strawberry blonde he’s sporting.)
.
Tomas then goes to Lety’s office and Lety asks why he’s so cheerful. He explains he and Aldo are not good buddies, which pleases Lety. He also explains that Aldo told him he’s not interested in Alicia, which leaves the path open for Tomas. Lety suggests that he immediately go over and propose marriage to her. He sits under the Ladyparts Shell From Hell painting and ponders this suggestion seriously before Lety points out that she was just kidding. Lety realizes the painting is upside down. She wonders how that happened but doesn’t give it much thought before asking Tomas to fix it.
Marcia returns from her apartment with her wedding dress. She tells Alicia she doesn’t want it at home since the situation with Fern is not looking too good. Alicia volunteers to take it off her hands and says she will use it for her wedding with Aldo. Marcia sarcastically agrees to give Alicia the dress if she ever marries him. Alicia points out that it will need to be altered.
Alicia walks out to the lobby where she glides around with the dress to show the cuartel and talks about her impending nuptials to golden boy Aldo. Tomas sees this from afar and runs to Aldo’s office. Poor Tom is so hurt that his new BFF has betrayed him. He calls Aldo a traitor for lying about his feelings for Alicia, and says he knows all about his plans to marry Alicia; she’s already got the dress and everything! Mr. Roper… uh, I mean Aldo asks Tom what the heck he’s talking about. Aldo assures Tom that he (Aldo) has no interest in Alicia. Tom doesn’t believe him until Aldo spits out “I love Lety!” Tomas is impactado. Aldo smiles and nods.
Marcia and Alicia go to her office where Fern’s is on the phone. Her arrival makes Fern very uncomfortable. Alicia takes out the dress and he asks why she brought it here. She goes for the sympathy points and says she can’t bear to keep it at home. She asks Alicia to leave them but he makes hasty exit. Alicia-- always great for pouring salt on open, bleeding, throbbing wounds-- points out the effect Marcia has on him. Marcia is disgruntled.
Tomas thinks it’s great that Aldo doesn’t care for Alicia or her peras. Aldo is worried about how Alicia could possibly think they an item. Tomas says Alicia has a picture of the them at the restaurant. Aldo’s light bulb finally clicks on and he realizes she must have misunderstood him last night. Tomas congratulates Aldo on his feelings for Lety. Aldo agrees that yeah but she loves Fern. Tomas thinks time she forgot that canijo. Aldo whines that every time he tries to talk to Lety about his feelings, she talks to him about her suffering for Fern. Tomas guesses that Aldo is afraid she’ll reject him. Aldo again agrees but on the spot he decides he’s going to stop being afraid. He grabs Tom by the lapel and Tom grabs Aldo back. Aldo continues “When one feels true love… [insert flowery new-age pontification here]…” Aldo lets Tom go and runs out of the office.
Sarah sees that Lety looks worried asks Lety is she’s you troubled about what the PG said. Lety responds by giving an unambiguous look of anxiety.
In his office Luigi baby-talks to his overgrown teddy bear and plays peek-a-boo with it. Alicia comes in with the wedding dress and says she needs a favor. She announces that she’s marrying Aldo and needs the dress altered. Luigi says that’s impossible, because Aldo only loves him. She says he told her last night he wants to be with her forever. Luigi -- almost literally-- puts his card on the table; he shows off the card that came with the monster-bear. He points to the part that out that says “Forever”. Alicia scoffs. He calls her bluff and asks where her engagement ring is. They refuse to accept each others stories. Luigi says she’s crazy and asks the monster-bear if he agrees. Alicia says that she won’t invite Luigi to her wedding.
Tomas overhears the conversation, and Alicia catches him as she leaves Luigi’s office. Tom asks Alicia what the dress is for. Alicia explains that she’s going to marry Aldo. Tom asks if they have set the date. Alicia says that, as a matter of fact, they have. Tomas hesitantly asks if she’s sure he loves her. She, of course, is sure he does. He wonders if maybe it’s a misunderstanding. Alicia asks what the heck he’s talking about. Tom hesitates again. He suggests that she talk to Aldo. Alicia and demands to know. Tom finally breaks down and tells her that Aldo doesn’t love her. Alicia doesn’t believe him. She insults him and hits him with the bodice of the dress. Tomas spits out that Aldo does love her because he loves Lety. Alicia is mortified at the thought. She insults him some more before running off.
Aldo goes to Lety’s office and says they must talk. Lety says she’s really busy, but Aldo doesn’t care and insists that they go for a walk right now. As they head through the lobby, she tells PM she’ll be back and won’t be long. Aldo adds that actually, she might be a bit late. He tickles Lety’s chin and she giggles. The cuartel swoons.
Alicia walks into Marcia’s with the dress. She’s furious with Luigi and Tomas. She recaps her arguments and Tomas’s revelation about Aldo and Lety, adding “Hah imagine that! How ridiculous.” Marcia is very quiet and pensive. She reasons that Fern fell for Lety, and that didn’t seem possible either. Alicia reasons that Fern is crazy and not normal. Marcia, adds that Aldo did give her the giant Ladyparts Shell From Hell, plus, they hung out together in Acapulco… plus, she’s noticed that during the meetings, he looks at her in a very special way. Alicia refuses to believe it until she sees it for herself.
Fern discusses his trip with Omar in their clubhouse… uh, I mean office. Marcia comes in and announces that she is packed and ready to go. She accuses Omar of conspiring with Fern to plan this trip to send her away. Omar offers to leave so they can talk but they insist that he stay. She asks Fern if he is aware that ALDO IS IN LOVE WITH LETY. Fern loses his balance and knocks over the stuff on his/Omar’s desk.
Outside Conceptos, Lety and Aldo walk and she goes on about work. Aldo tells her to let him talk. He says that attitude indicates there is something she doesn’t want to face. But he says that he needs to fight for what is most important in his life. She asks what that is. He responds that it’s his love for her. He kisses her hand (sorry, Aldo, not feeling any chemistry here).
Fern tries to regain his composure. Fern unconvincingly claims that he doesn’t care whether Aldo loves Lety, but they must respect the business, because this is not a bordello. Again, Omar offers to leave so they can talk but they won’t let him leave. Marcia says “Yeah, right, just like you have respected it.” She sarcastically adds that he is the poster boy for honesty and ethics, and morality. Fern impatiently rolls his eyes. He stutters and then suddenly remembers he has something he must ask Lety about right now and runs out . Marcia winces and hisses “yeah, right!”
Fern rushes into Lety’s office, slamming open her door, then runs back to the lobby where he anxiously asks PM where Lety is. PM reports that she went out with Aldo. Fern and Alicia exclaim “What?!!” at the same time. He leaves and Sarah perceptively observes “Troy is burning.”
Aldo reminds Lety of the kiss in the ocean. Lety reasons with Aldo that a kiss is just a kiss. Aldo tells her that when she returned to D.F., he missed her and realized how much she means to him. He doesn’t care if she still loves Fern; she needs to know that he (Aldo) loves her. Lety is confused; so many women, why her, someone who to being with is ugly...? Aldo tells her to stop saying that. Lety adds that in any case, it doesn’t matter because she loves… Aldo tells her “no” and kisses hand. He asks her to let him fight to win her love. Just then Fern runs up to them yelling “Hey! Hey! Hey!” with a fierce look on his face.
Marcia tells Alicia that when she told Fern about Aldo, he went nuts. The look on his face showed that he was dying with jealousy, and he ran right off to find her. Alicia still thinks Tomas made it up. Marcia points out --with good reason -- that whether it’s true or not isn’t important. She observes that two men are in love with the same fea. What do they see in her? What is it about her?
Fern accuses Aldo of using the tacos-and-chalupas project simply to be near Lety. He calls him a trickster. Aldo retorts that Fern is “el burro ablando de orejas” (“the donkey talking about ears”… great variation on the black kettle adage!). Aldo points out that there is nothing wrong with wanting to be near Lety and that he is willing to yell out to the four winds his feelings for Lety. He proves this by turning in all directions as he yells “Let it be known to all of Conceptos that I love Leticia! I love Leticia!… I love…” Fern covers Aldo’s mouth and says he’s willing to do it too but she won’t believe him. He calls out “Love, love..” Aldo points out that he didn’t do it (because Fern never said Lety’s name like Aldo did) . Fern walks toward Aldo and punches Fern in the kisser.
Cuartel speculate about the PG’s vision of two men thinking about Lety. They guess that Aldo and Fern are the two men. They decide that it is very urgent, VERY URGENT, for them to figure out the truth.
Aldo tries to lead Lety away from Fern. Lety asks Aldo to wait, and begins to say something to Fern, but goes after Aldo again and this time it’s Aldo who gets punched in the face. They both grab her. Aldo says Fern’s only interest is his company. Fern tells Aldo to leave him and his… Lety alone. Aldo asks Fern how dare he feel he has the right to defend Lety. Aldo thinks they should let her decide, then knocks Fern to the ground again. Lety suggests to Fern that he leave. Fern says Lety is the president of the company, and she made commitment to him. Lety seems impactada by this.

Duelo de Pasiones, Thursday March 1 - A scorpion, a spider, and a dirty old man
Ever the rocket scientist, Emilio looked at Castulo, his underwear, and his rumpled bed, and concluded that Castulo was telling the truth. No wonder Orlando hates having this guy as his boss.
Next Emilio confronted Thelma, saying, "Castulo told me everything!" Thelma said guiltily that she could explain, then looked relieved when El Clueless One merely asked why she was afraid of Gaspar.
Thelma said, "This imbecile has me confused with a little doll, a fairy. I can't stand it," that he broke into her room etc., Emilio could ask his uncle if he didn't believe her.
She finished by saying she wasn't afraid for herself but for Emilio because Gaspar might hurt him. Unimpressed, as usual, Emilio left to go interrogate Gaspar. Fuming, as usual, Thelma told her singing Aunt Rebeca she was afraid Gaspar would tell Emilio everything.
At the cave: Luba told Alina that Alvaro wanted her to live at Edelmira's house of ill repute. They agreed that Alvaro had lost his judgement (that's one way of putting it). Alina said he was sick but she would save him by confronting him and opening his eyes! Ignoring Luba's protests, she ran out of the cave.
Meanwhile, Granillo was telling Edelmira that everyone knew that Flor del Campo was pure, virginal, immaculate! Edelmira accused him of exaggerating and said they would make a lot of money from Flor.
Carmen told Rosita and her father that Maximo was Santos's father. Rosita urged Carmen to tell Santos the truth. Her father and Carmen told her that wasn't a good idea. Rosita worried that father and son would kill each other.
Elsewhere, Marianita whined once more about not having a papa. Mariana said, "You are right. It would be better if Jose never existed." (QUE??) She promised Marianita she would have a father.
Marianita asked if Mariana would marry Dr. Fonseca, aka Ricardo, aka Dr. Love. Mariana said, "First I have to be his girlfriend so we can get to know each other. After that, we'll see." Later Mariana informed Dr. Love of her decision, saying, "We will see what happens in time." Dr. Love was hopeful.
In central America: The crime gang argued over how to prevent Jose from leading the authorities to them. Jacinto said they would rescue Jose. Felicia thanked him.
Working late, Elias told a co-worker he wanted to help "someone" (ie Soledad) without hurting someone else (ie Blanca), adding, "You never forget your first love."
Blanca later worried about whether Elias was with Soledad. (As if Alvaro would let Elias within a mile of her!!!) She found a handkerchief embroidered with the letter S among Elias's possessions and said, "Elias, you still love Soledad!"
Back at the cave: Gaspar, who had been sleeping, woke up and immediately started babbling about his muñequita. Luba gave him a drink, saying it was to warm him up, but thought, "Forgive me, son. I know how much you love this woman, but I can't let them kill you for her."
Gaspar reeled around a little, then passed out. Luba told herself, "With these herbs, he'll sleep a good while."
Meanwhile Alina, hurrying through the dark countryside on her way to confront her father, was stung on the shoulder by a scorpion. (Maybe that off-the-shoulder blouse wasn't the best fashion choice for someone who lives in a cave.) She slapped it off and continued on her way.
When she reached the hacienda, Sergio and his shotgun blocked her path, but Alvaro came outside and saw them.
Already feverish from her scorpion sting, Alina gasped, "Luba told me everything you're planning," that she couldn't put up with the mistreatment anymore, "Open your eyes! You need help! Your jealousy --" Suddenly she passed out. Don Loco told Sergio he would take care of her.
He carried the unconscious Alina to a bedroom at Edelmira's establishment. Edelmira examined her and said, "This girl is bad. She has a fever," but said she would cure her.
Don Loco warned her not to let Alina escape, adding, "Remember, this girl is not for sale." Edelina assured him that Alina would be an "eye taco" to her clients but nothing more.
After Don Loco left, Edelmira saw the scorpion sting mark on Alina's shoulder and called Granillo. He gave Alina a shot and told Edelmira she would be fine. Edelmira said she wanted to put Alina to work, then left the room.
Alina woke up and Granillo told her not to be afraid, to relax and rest. But after he left, Edelmira's customer Jeremias (the dirty old man who tried to attack Coral) sneaked into Alina's room and told her gloatingly, "I am your owner now, and you are going to be mine."
They struggled, Alina yelling, "Let go of me! Help, help!" And who should burst into the room to save her but Coral, who pulled Jermias off Alina and threw him onto the bed, yelling, "Leave her in peace!" Go, Coral!
Granillo arrived and Coral told him Jeremias was "abusing the girl." Saying Alina was sick, Granillo shoved Jeremias out of the room. Alina begged Coral to help her escape. Coral said it wouldn't be easy because Edelimira watched her girls very carefully. She told Alina, "Be patient, trust me," adding that Granillo would take care of her. Yeah, he's been doing a great job so far.
Meanwhile, at Valtierra hacienda: Angel, in bed, coughed and fretted. Nurse Susi assured him that his illness didn't make him less of a man, saying he had other qualities. Out of his earshot, she gave a lovelorn sigh and said, "Angel, if you knew."
Luba showed up to visit Angel, who asked anxiously if she had bad news, adding that the only thing that mattered to him was Flor. Worried about his coughing, Luba hesitated.
Susi came into the room. Seeing Angel's distress, she ordered Luba to leave. Racked by coughs, Angel pleaded, "Wait, please, tell me," but Luba left. Angel muttered to himself, "Alina, Flor." He asked Susi to go see Alina the next day. She agreed.
Walking through the dark, muttering to herself, Luba decided to go to Elias for help instead. She went to see Blanca, who told her Elias wasn't there. Luba said, "Flor is in grave danger and he has to save her."
Blanca and Luba agreed that Alvaro was loco and couldn't be permitted to keep abusing Alina. Blanca said she would confront Alvaro.
Emilio reached the cave and found Gaspar passed out cold. Too bad -- that would have been an interesting conversation. (Why is Emilio suddenly concerning himself about Thelma's problems, anyway? Too bad he doesn't spend this much time and effort on helping Alina.)
Meanwhile, Coral climbed into bed, not knowing that nobody was allowed to sleep in this episode. She soon jumped up, screaming, "A tarantula!" Listening in the hall, Castulo (who put the spider in her bed), rubbed his beard ruefully. He's not much of an assassin, is he.
Orlando ran in, picked up the spider with his bare hands, put it in a bowl, and carried it out. Very heroic, I must say. Poor Coral checked under the bed for more spiders. Orlando observed that it was strange that the spider got into the house.
After Emilio returned home and brushed Thelma off once again, she hissed to Singing Aunt Rebeca that Gaspar had to die.
Elias also went home and found Blanca waiting for him. No sign of Luba. Blanca told herself that Elias was too busy to leave work right now, so "I have to save Alina."
The next day: Don Loco whipped his men up against the road construction project while Elias listened and glared. Elias spoke up, saying, "I know why you're doing this! You want to isolate Soledad and continue torturing her without anyone finding out!" He added that Soledad was beautiful and Alvaro would lose her.
Alvaro said, "Soledad is beautiful, but she is mine. Don't say anything else about her," then went back to inciting his men.
Emilio visited Maximo, who guffawed that Gaspar believed Thelma was a fairy. Emilio remembered his conversation with Gaspar about his "little doll," but all he said to Maximo was, "Thelma, a fairy? This guy is crazy!"
After Emilio left, Maximo twirled his mustache and chuckled, "Ay, a fairy! This woman is bad, bad as the devil!"
Rosita talked to Santos, who was remarkably recovered from his accident the previous day. But I suppose that should be no surprise since Alina, Emilio, and Gaspar have all made miraculous recoveries from gunshot wounds. There must be something in the water in Sierra Escondida.
Coral told Orlando about Alina's latest plight. He replied, "I can save Flor." Coral said, "Tu???" which was rather insulting to Orlando, I thought.
Orlando pulled a petal from a flower arrangement in her room and sniffed it dramatically, then said, "Si, Coral. I love her and I am going to save her." Then he ate the petal! I guess he heard about Maximo's flower-kissing and wanted to out-villain him.
Rosita's father visited Maximo's office and said, "My daughter doesn't love you. She loves Santos." Too bad he didn't tell Maximo that long ago.
Maximo made his usual complaints about that starving Santos. Rosita's father replied that Maximo might be the boss, "but you can't be in charge of things in my daughter's heart." Maximo angrily ordered him out.
Blanca arrived at Edelmira's club and found the miraculously cured Alina cleaning tables.
Emilio returned to the cave. This time he found Gaspar awake. He asked Gaspar about Thelma, and Gaspar predictably said, "She is my little doll, the fairy I knew in the Devil's Cave."
But will Emilio the dimwit finally figure things out? Tune in tomorrow...

Acorralada #30 – Friday, 02/23/07
(Apologies for the late posting. Life got in the way.)
Diana drops the P-Bomb on Little Doormat again.
Silvia is still under Larry’s bed, but the bikini briefs have ceased to amuse. She’s getting annoyed. There’s a knock at the door and Yolanda enters. Larry’s rehearsing a slightly different calendar pose. Our Favorite Aunt tries to lure him down to dinner by telling him she’s invited Rene. I’m not sure how Rene qualifies as Larry-bait, but he doesn’t feel like it. It’s killing her, seeing him like this. That’s what he’d like, to die. We’ve heard all this before. Even Silvia’s had enough. On they go until Yolanda says “This marriage of yours was an act of madness,” at which point we get a close-up of Silvia kissing Larry’s underwear. Yolanda urges him, they almost leave, his cell phone rings. It’s Pilar. She’s back, she needs to see him.
At Casa Soriano Diana reminds us that she doesn’t want Max or Marfil finding out about her delicate condition. Gaby asks how Diana can raise a child all alone. For some reason it never occurs to her that Granny M raised two kids on her own. Maybe she’s aware that Diana’s not much smarter than she is. But I digress. Diana makes a little speech about the nobility of single mothers. Little Doormat gets misty-eyed and says she will help Diana take care of her little girl, and so will Granny M. They reprise “Don’t Tell Granny What You Know”.
At Casa Irazabal, Octavia tells Faux Marfil and Bruna they need to verify that the baby is really Max’s. Faux Marfil starts up and to be honest, kids, I just couldn’t listen. Bruna wants Diana’s address so they can pay her a visit, have a margarita, just be girls together. Okay, probably not. Octavia promises she’ll get the address that very morning.
Diana asks for the Virgin’s help. She’ll need it, because Diego just came to visit. They go over the whole proposal thing again. To her he’s like a brother. To him, she’s the woman he loves.
At Lala’s house, Gaby, Lala, Caramelo, Pancholón, and Granny Miguelina are sitting around making merry about the upcoming nuptials.
Casa Irazabal. It takes some doing but Pilar convinces Larry to meet her at an address we don’t get to hear. He hangs up and tía Yolanda asks if he was talking to Pilar. Larry admits it, and ever the boy to say too much, adds that they’ve got a date. Yolanda’s appalled and attempts to dissuade him. The Ill-Fated Boda is rehashed. Like me, Silvia’s getting antsy. Finally Yolanda tells Larry to sleep on it and they go down to dinner. Silvia, irrepressible madcap that she is, kisses Larry’s underwear again before she gleefully stuffs them in her purse.
Paola and Rene are getting ready for dinner. In other words, they’re getting their story straight. Rene is supposed to pass himself off as a straight-A undergrad. This, Paola reasons, will allay the family’s suspicions about her drug use. The fact that she thinks this will work tells us that Paola’s doing serious amounts of drugs. Enter Yolanda and Larry. Rene wastes no time telling Yolanda how beautiful she looks. Enter the Unholy Trinity, Octavia, Faux Marfil, and Bruna. Rene lays some more flattery on Octavia, kissing her hand for good measure. At the end of the line of Irazabal women, almost out of frame, Bruna shakes her head as if to say “Oh, puh-lease! Give me a freakin’ break.” Rene then steps back and remarks how beautiful all the women of the family are. Yolanda makes it clear that she really digs Rene.
Max and Emilio in a restaurant. Max is crabbing about stifled he feels in Casa Irascible. A ragamuffin with dirt makeup walks up with an armful of flowers for sale. The kid tells Max a sob story and Max gives the kid $200 without even buying anything. (Not that I blame him. Those bouquets look as if the prop manager had picked them up at Albertson’s on his way to work.) More jawing about the horrible wrong Diana did him.
We return to Casa Soriano. Close-up of the statue of the Virgin, with a votive candle burning and fresh silk flowers in the vase. Cue dramatic music. “Max will never know that I’m going to have a child by him.” Music swells. Diana sighs. That’s it. That’s the entire scene.
The close-up of Larry’s underwear tells us we are at Casa Sylvia. Camila has changed her white halter top for a black one with a tough, edgy pattern of zippers and chains. It’s not a change for the better, but still an improvement over the lime green thing that made her look like the Town Ho of Bedrock. Silvia has on a long, flame-red wig, a blue baby-doll dress, bright red stockings, and black go-go boots. Even though Camila doesn’t believe in Elsa the Mistress of the Occult Sciences, she’s peeved that Sylvia didn’t get Maxi’s underwear as well. Sylvia kisses Larry’s briefs again and rubs them against her cheek. Ooookay.
Diana at the sewing machine. The pink cammy and the pink plaid capris have been replaced. (Hmmm, my nine-year old niece had the exact same outfit, and she didn’t like it, either.) Now she’s wearing a long-sleeved red sweater and olive green hot-pants. This outfit is not cute. The doorbell rings. It’s Faux Marfil, who as also changed for the occasion. It’s a sassy, mixed-print little sundress, perfect for the beach, or pole-dancing. Faux Marfil checks out the apartment with a look of smug assurance. Diana is impactada.
Paco and Gaviota. Paco brings cups that actually contain coffee to the table. Gaviota says Granny M didn’t want to give anything up. Could she be hiding something? Paco suggests that maybe Gav is imagining it. Enter Caramelo in a sporty white tube dress. She’s ready to do some more trousseau shopping. Paco takes her out, Gaviota goes to the phone and dials.
Octavia is at her desk. She’s done filming her Charlie commercial and is ready for Studio 54. She’s now wearing a black polyester halter-top cut to the waist and sprayed with large white rhinestones. There are three spaghetti straps between her breasts that evidently serve a “lock and load” function. This flirty confection is attached to the black polyester trousers by a ring which provocatively frames her navel. Yowzah. Anyway, the phone rings. It’s Gaviota, just calling to let Octavia know she’s been thinking about her. Octavia’s cranky today. “Why are you calling me, garbage?” Gav tells Octav that she’s the one who’s garbage and there’s some rehashing of what Octavia put her through before Gaviota finally vows to destroy her. Octavia’s not impressed. She got rid of Gaviota once and she can do it again. Not this time – this time Gaviota will turn out to be more of a fiera and in the end, she’ll spit in Octavia’s face. Octavia’s still not impressed. Gaviota swears revenge one last time and hangs up. That went well. Octavia hangs up on her end, informing us that Gav can’t do a thing against her, she hasn’t got the strength or friends to help her, etc. She gets up and slithers around her desk. Octavia’s not afraid.
Back at Casa Soriano, Diana still hasn’t got over the shock of Faux Marfil standing in her humble living room. Faux Marfil is in Chihuahua mode here. She gets right to the point. She wants to know who the father is. Diana is too impactada to reply.
Yolanda comes out to the pool to catch up on her reading for the book club. They’re deep into Patterson’s When the Wind Blows. Rene is in the pool, but not for long. Out he comes to wow Yolanda in his canary-yellow swim trunks. Nothing says “Hot Beefcake” like canary-yellow swim trunks. Yolanda and Octavia are worried about Paola being a drug addict. Public Service Announcement. After telling Rene that he seems like a serious, responsible boy, she admits that she doesn’t know him well and asks if he’s a drug addict, too. Rene is impactado.
Faux Marfil is shaking Diana by the arm. Admit that Maximiliano’s the father! Diana shakes herself loose and denies it. How did Faux Marfil find out? “To defend my marriage, I’m capable of anything, even murder,” snarls Faux Marfil. Diana start up about how the baby has a father but Our Little Blonde Weasel isn’t interested. She could be Diana’s friend and ally, or her worst nightmare. Diana doesn’t get it. After an insulting preamble, Faux Marfil offers Diana money to disappear. Diana refuses. Once again she grabs Diana and demands to know the father’s name. Diana refuses and starts hustling her towards the door. They struggle, but my hopes for a cat fight are dashed. “Remember my words! I could be your worst nightmare!” Diana finally manages to throw her out.
Octavia and Max are in her office. She aks if he’s seen Diana again. Max says no. Look me in the eye, chides Mamacita. Don’t lie to me. Maximiliano tries a diversion. Why bring up memories? She doesn’t want to remind him of her, she just wants to know if he’s seen her again. Max looks her in the eye and says no. Octavia tells him she loves him and saunters to the doors. She strikes an alluring pose for him, then leaves. Max looks bewildered, as if uncertain of which subtext to give to the line: “Diana. Diana.”
Back Casa Irazabal, Rene’s lying like there’s no tomorrow. Yolanda’s buying it; she wants to believe him because he’s just so damn hot. Paola may seem worldly, Yolanda says earnestly, but really she’s just a child. Rene promises her he’ll look after Paola like his own sister. Enter the worldly child herself. She’s wearing a skankilicious leopard-print bikini. Paola and Rene invite Yolanda to put on her bikini and join them. No, no, she can’t, she says, flattered, laughing, embarrassed. Exit Yolanda. Rene says again what a babe tía Yolanda is. Paola pushes him into the pool.
Pilar is eating ice cream at a beachfront café. Larry has his Miami Vice Revival outfit on. Pilar starts right in. ‘I know why you hate me, don’t even want to see me, but I beg you to listen to me.” Pilar’s cock-and-bull story is even better than Dr. Evil’s. Kique did something to her, used some kind of witchcraft on her. He gave her a drink the day before the wedding and it did strange things to her, completely took away her will. Even Lunkhead Larry isn’t buying that. Admit that you love Kique more than me, he says. Pilar’s tearful. “I swear I love you, I can beg forgiveness on my knees” Larry responds by shedding the GTTD. (This is a midshot; no doubt the producer knows a close-up Larry with the GTTD would bear an eerie resemblance to a Keane painting, or a Precious Moments figurine.) Then he tells Pilar he’s married.
Faux Marfil enters Octavia’s office. Lady O inquires how the visit went. Faux Marfil is still in Chihuahua mode but the crack is wearing off some, thank God. She crabs about Diana’s attitude during their brief encounter. After some prompting by Octavia. Faux Marfil says she couldn’t get Diana to confess but she’s sure the baby is Max’s. She adds that Diana seems determined to keep Max from finding out. They have to keep this under wraps, it would be catastrophic if he found out, he’d divorce Marfil. What’s an Evil Sex Kitten to do? "Pay her to go away." Faux Marfil offered, but Diana refused. Octavia doesn’t like this. They have to do something, and soon, before Max finds out, otherwise…Enter Max. He’s not happy to see his bleating bride in Mamacita’s office. What’s she doing there? Close-up of Faux Marfil trying to think up a plausible excuse.
Now Gaviota pays Diana a visit. It’s just one vengeful woman after another at Casa Soriano today. They sit on the couch and Diana blends right in, like a chameleon camaflouging itself. Gaviota asks how her parents died. Well, now that Gav mentions it, she’s confused about that. (No surprises there. She’s easily confundida.) She’d been told they’d died in an accident, but about a month ago a neighbor from the barrio told her that her mother was in jail. Gaviota is impactada. Diana then asked Granny, but Granny became very nervous and denied it and said the neighbor was a gossip. Diana, however, has a feeling that the neighbor is right. Gav tells her that she needs to find out.
Back at the beach, Larry repeats that he’s married. He gives her the Reader’s Digest Condensed version, but Pilar wants details. Who’s the lucky girl? How could you do this to me? Larry’s taken aback. To you? You’ve got some nerve. Rehash of Wedding Humiliation. Pilar turn it back on him: “If you married that soon it’s because you don’t love me.” Larry begs to differ. “On the contrary, I loved you too much.” (Melancholy violin music. I note that Larry uses “quise”, giving that statement a finality that “quería” lacks.) He married out of desperation. He tried to forget her in another woman’s arms. Pilar asks if he succeeded. No, it all went badly. He couldn’t forget Pilar. She insists on knowing know who the little missus is.
We return to Octavia’s office. Faux Marfil claims she was out shopping and dropped in for a surprise visit. Lady O gives Max the afternoon off to take his wife out to a nice restaurant. What a great idea, Faux Marfil crows. Max demurs, he has too much work. Go, Octavia urges, Emilio can pick up the slack. No. Faux Marfil reprises her chicken imitation by way of protest. Max gets as annoyed as I do. “Enough! No more scenes!” Close-up of Octavia looking pensive, calculating. Close-up of Faux Marfil pouting.
At Casa Soriano, Gaviota tells Diana that they have to find out if her mother is still in jail. Diana, unsurprisingly, has no clue where to start. Somber piano music drowns out something she says about giving birth in jail. I’m just venturing a guess here, but I think she’s opposed to the idea.
Casa Irazaba, poolside. Loud music, with the band chanting “Fiera…Fiera…Fiera”. We get a midshot of Paola, probably to include maximum cleavage in that minimal bikini. The phone rings. She gets up and struts over to the table while the band sings “Fiera…They call you Fiera” I think we get it: Paola + leopard bikini = one hot fiera. It’s our old friend Pancho. They engage in witty banter charged with sexual innuendo, mostly double-entendres about bombones. They make a date to meet at 9:00 so Pancho can “eat his bombón”. Rene gets out of the pool. He’s not keen on the idea of Paola hooking up with Pancholón. Why that naco? Her answer is a salacious purr: “He’s the primitive type, and that’s verrry exciting”. Then she pushes Rene back in the pool.
The beachside café again. Larry, in answer to Pilar’s question from the previous scene, proves that he’s as much a gentleman as he is a scholar. His wife’s name doesn’t matter. Pilar, in a fine display of hypocrisy, says he doesn’t know how much it hurts to think that he gave his kisses and caresses to another woman. Once again Larry reveals that the marriage hasn’t been consummated. (Why doesn’t he just rent a billboard so everyone will know?) Pilar asks where this mujercita lives. The “marriage” only lasted two days. Exit Larry. Pilar jumps up and cries out “Larry, don’t leave!” in a distraught voice, but by the time she sits back down, her recovery from this emotional trauma is complete and she’s smiling to herself. She’ll win him back. But first she needs to find that moron he married. Things aren’t looking so good for Little Doormat.
Gaby and Diana are speculating on how Faux Marfil could have known that Diana’s embarazada. Gaby has a flash of intelligence and suggests Dr. Evil. Diana tells her about Faux Marfil’s bribe. Gaby’s moment of sagacity proves to be brief. She thinks Diana should marry Diego to give her baby a father.
Max, asleep in bed. He’s shirtless and alone. Apparently Luscious Little Bro isn’t the only one with well-rehearsed calendar poses. Max is having a nightmare about Diana, alone in a fog, with a baby in her arms. She’s having hysterics. He wakes up crying out “NO!” His shapely, heaving man-boobs glisten with sweat. Yolanda runs in, turns on the light. Max tells her about the nightmare and asks her what it could mean.
Lala’s house. Gaby has decided to pay a visit to Diego. There are no prizes for guessing why. She drops the P-Bomb on Diego, who is impactado. Commmercial.
Diego loses it. He raves on about Max. But Max doesn’t know, he’ll never find out, Gaby says. (Let’s see how many characters are in on the secret so far: Gaviota, Gaby, Diego, Faux Marfil, Bruna, Octavia, Dr. Evil, and Andrés. Max and Granny M. can’t be far behind.) Diego wants Max to do the honorable thing and take responsibility for the child. But he’s married, he’s not going to get a divorce, especially after all the lies going around about Diana. Little Doormat doesn’t want to see to her sister all alone, with a baby in her arms. (This Outcast Madonna image is becoming a recurring one) And that’s where Diego comes in. “Who, me? You want me to be responsible for this child? Nothing would make me happier, but Diana sees me as a brother, not a man.” “So convince her.” Little Doormat makes no connection between this conversation and the one she had earlier with Nancy.
Gaviota’s dressing room. Paco is sitting there as Gaviota comes in. (Do we ever get to see Gaviota perform?) She fills a shot glass with whiskey, or maybe tequila. Just because the mother of las hermanas Soriano might be in jail doesn’t mean that Gaviota is their mother, says Paco. Gav astutely observes it doesn’t mean that she’s not.
At Casa Irazabal, Max and Larry are in the bedroom. Max is wearing yet another bathrobe. He must have quite a collection. “Pilar’s a phony. She’s worthless.” He sits down next to Lil’ Abner, I mean Lil’ Bro, and the rest of the scene is in close-up. Problem is, Larry still loves Pilar. And if Diana turned out to be innocent, would Max forgive her? Dr. Evil didn’t lie. She’s got a trial pending. Neither of those women is worth anything. Larry’s confused, poor lamb. Max tells him to forget Pilar for his own good.
Faux Marfil listens at the door and thought-bubbles: “That’s what I want, Maximiliano, that you forget Diana forever.”
Diana and Gaby. Diana is not at all happy about Gaby’s well-intentioned but stupid little intrigue. Little Doormat had no right to blab her secret like that. “Were you hoping he’d marry me?” she asks. “You know I don’t love him.” Completely forgetting all her earlier promises of support, Gaby gets all moral on her. You can’t just think of yourself, you have to think of your child. It’s not fair that he doesn’t have a father. This leaves Diana impactada.

Wednesday Feb. 28 -- MUNDO - Flashbacks R Us
Candy and Leo return from the wedding; Candy notes MA’s absence at the wedding/reception. Leo thinks Candy worries too much. Leo dreams of when he first saw MA. (At the fire that destroyed her mother’s house -- he had saved her mother from certain death, when he announced his feelings for her and kissed her, when he saw her together with Gabe, etc…)
[Novelas seem to do these filler types of reminiscing scenes close to the end I’ve noticed… Maybe the actor’s are tired or this is a way of giving them a break so they can go audition for other novellas… or, in this case, maybe they’re trying to torture us.]
Leo wakes from his reminiscing, muttering that MA belongs to Gabe, wow, big revelation there.
Mir asks Joz if their any news, no, they’re whispering so Ingrid doesn’t hear… Ingrid asks what’s up and Mir tells her to get lost. Mir’s light bulb goes off, she tells Joz they shouldn’t talk in front of Ingrid or anyone, [Good grief, who wrote that in? another revelation, must be cuz her and Leo are blood related]…. Joz takes off for her office.
Mir reminisces about Otilia’s sharp words and win at the fashion competition. [Wow, tons of filler in this episode… could it be that this show is OVER… please say it’s so]
Mir swears Otil’s luck is over.
Otilia meets with Armando about his awesome line of clothing in the next season. [Is Otil wearing new makeup these days? I’m still deciding on if I like it better…]
Armando leaves [love that name… Arrrrrrrrmando… very manly] anyway, he’s outta there and Otil takes the moment to talk to herself, letting herself know that she’s going after Mir for the sheer pleasure of getting the better of someone who has caused so much harm to people. [I love Otilia! She’s my heroina!]
Dios mio, another flash-back… this time about Otil’s dead hubby and his traipsing around with Mir… the whole secret about Joz being his daughter…etc… various scene’s of her and him… and her club for cheated women…etc…
[For anyone who practice numbers this is the perfect episode… Otilia goes over first, second, third, etc… as she tell her cheated women’s club the “rules” for women… ]
Otilia calls Don Chava about the radio show she wants to get going…
Rog plays with Karen in her office, or is it his office… someone’s office… they chat and note that they’ve been “talking” more than when they lived in the mansion… Oh, it’s Dam’s office… Tib barges in looking for Dam, he’s dazed and confused about where Dam’s gone off to, chastises them for being in the office and heads right back out.
Rog and Karen flirt. Then Rog takes off. She talks to herself about what might happen between her and Rog and that she can’t believe how empty and frivolous she used to be… Ay! Otros flashbacks! She remembers how frivolous she used to be… various scene’s of her being vain, conniving and petty.
Tib, driving in his convertible, wonders and worries about where his papá has gone off to… he thinks of how the truth of Dam being his dad has weighed heavy on him… Qué barbaridad! More flashbacks, this time of Tib with Dam and Dolores (as a nun, at the mansion, confessing she’s his mother, etc…)
[Diosito must have taken notice of me! I’ve never had to type this little!! I might actually get to bed at a decent time tonight!!! This must be what they call mercy! ]
Tib finally seems to realize that maybe Dam is at the cemetery and goes to take a look around… ah ha! Lo encontró, por fin!
Dam looks horrible… and he’s gone out of his mind. His hair is all over the place, 6 o’clock shadow, clothes all dirty, etc. AND, he’s forgotten who Tib is, at least until Tib convinces him he’s his first born, his primogenito. That seems to bring Dam around a bit…. [good grief]
Tib tries hopelessly to get Dam to leave the cemetery… doesn’t work… Dam wants to stay there to keep Regina warm and to keep her from being afraid. Tib reminds him that Regina is dead (is that such a good idea, really?)… Dam doesn’t believe it and prefers to stay there and keep his wife company.
Suddenly Dam, after a minute or two of acting nuts, “realizes” Regina is missing and starts screaming for her… Tib throws his arms down, helpless and frustrated… The scene goes into slow-mo and Dam swings his head back and forth in search of Regina…
Fin for today…

Duelo - Wed Feb 28 - Rain Rain Everywhere
Emilio and Alina work their magic on each other as they fight in the rain. She detests him, she is not his servant. He tells her "Someday you'll be obeying me all right, and that day will have been worth the trouble of saving your life. Goodbye Flor del Campo." Luba runs up to comfort the slowly melting Flor. Her shirt is about to fall off as she leans into Luba to cry. She starts to ugly cry. Luba cusses at Emilio's back.
Soledad prays to the Virgencita. She is worried about what Alvaro has in store for Alina. She remembers Don Locos cruel words, every one of the cruel humiliations he has given Alina. She cries as she prays for Alina's safety.
Elias yells at some workers in the construction office. He scolds the workers "who authorized Santos to work in the rain! What are you thinking?" They head out to stop Santos on his death quest excavation.
Don Max tears into his office yelling at Vera's husband about how no one looked after the horses in the rain. Thank goodness he saved them. He is told he has a visitor. It's Carmen. She is there to ask a favor. Max laughs. He is excited to see his visitor. He grabs money out of his desk drawer and throws it at her. Sarcastically he asks her if "it's for the son you say I created? Do nothing more than tell me. Is he a handsome winner like his father or is he a nobody like you?" Carmen stares coldly ahead.
Luba sits in her rocking chair smoking her joint or worse yet smoking a cigar. She scolds both Flor and Gaspar for their smart ideas of going to La Rinconada, fighting with ese tipo, and looking for trouble. The singing Gaspar tries to claim his innocence. He was only looking for dry branches.... Luba doesn't want to hear it. Flor doesn't want to hear it either so she excuses herself to go see Rosita. Luba rants at the cave. She is worried that something bad is going to happen to Flor. She is worried she is going crazy.
Angel corners Emilio. He is wearing a lovely pink polo, with the collar flipped up around his neck and sporting an ugly neck scarf that does not match his pink shirt. He is every bit NOT the heart throb that he wishes to be. He is put off with Emilio. Put off that Emilio would go looking for Alina when Emilio admits Alina is dead to him. Emilio, in a robe, sprays cologne on his neck and tells Angel that yes Alina is dead to him, but he did go and see Flor. Angel coughs a little and plays the same word games that Emilio started. There is a boring exchange of she doesn't like you, she didn't tolerate you, get your own girls, blah blah blah. Angel queries if Emilio would hand over one of his admirers to him? Well Angel doesn't need any hand outs. He has found a woman who doesn't like Emilio. In fact she detests him! That's right he is going to win over Alina Montellano for himself. What's more he is going to ask her to marry him. Emilio is impactado.
Carmen tells Don Max that she doesn't know what he is talking about and she also didn't come to ask for money. She came to ask for him not to repeat the rotten thing he did to her with any other woman. Don Max grins as he makes his way towards her. He tells her that he isn't stupid..... Take your money.... Then BAM! He is all over her like a bad dream. He has her locked in his arms kissing on her as she struggles to get away. Veras husband Jaime comes in yelling Patron excuse me it's an emergency! Don Max quickly separates himself from Carmen and runs behind his desk. Elias follows Jaime into the office. Elias asks for Max's help in rescuing Santos from a mudslide an their excavation area. Don Max twists his mustache and slides his eyes towards Elias in mock concern as he hears the news.
Emilio is shocked to hear Angel's news. He tries to tell Angel that he doesn't have permission to go out with Alina. Angel tells Emilio he doesn't need his permission, besides Emilio is married. Angel wants to marry Alina and to give her everything that her father took away from her. Cough Cough. The employees told Angel about Alinas whole story. Emilio tries a last time to tell Angel to stop with the silliness! Angel coughs saying we'll see about it Emilio as he leaves the room. Emilio talks to himself that Alina is driving him crazy. Seems like a lot of people are saying that about her tonight.
Don Loco comes to call on Luba. She forces Gaspar to hide as Loco walks into the cave. He wants Alina. Luba pretends that Gaspar is out watching Flor pick herbs, they aren't there. Don Loco hands Luba a huge stack of cash. Luba doesn't want the money. She remembers that he said he would pay her when it is time to remove Alina from her care. She tries to trick Loco by saying she will punish Flor more, but Loco doesn't want Lubas help anymore. He wants to take Flor so he can do his own punishment.
Carmen runs out of Max's office upset about Santos. Emilio walks in as she is leaving. Elias explains why they are there and what the situation is with Santos. He wants to see if any of Don Max's employees knows the land and or is trained in landslides. Don Max argues what can they do? Well what they can do is send Emilio. Emilio with his vast military knowledge knows what to do in situations like this. Don Max is sure this is not a good idea. Emilio storms out to perform his rescue mission.
Carmen meanwhile has found Rosita and a stagecoach driver (wearing a large traditional Mexican sombrero hat). She leads them out of the hacienda to a waiting stagecoach. Florina arrives in the nick of time to catch a seat on the departing coach. Their destination? The work zone where Santos is madly trying to deny his parentage.
Emilio, on horseback, canters up to where Elias waits with the other workers near a large dirt pit. He tells Emilio that Santos is down in the hole with a bulldozer. It is supposed to be raining but instead it appears as if someone has a fire hose and is spraying down the pit spectators. The rain looks wrong somehow as it drops on the actors .... Anyhow Elias and Emilio discuss the best way to help Santos. They worry that there will be a landslide, mudslide and or a large boulder will smash Santos or the rescuers. Max joins the spectators on horseback yelling for Emilio not to try and save Santos. He will be risking his life! Emilio answers it's his duty, he is responsible for the construction. Emilio rides down the muddy unstable dirt, on his horse, to get to where Santos is working.
The ladies arrive soon after Emilio has left. Don Max draws everyone's attention to the sound of falling rocks. Elias claims that the dirt is about to collapse! Flor starts her ugly cry again. She begs Elias to do something so Emilio doesn't die! They can't do anything right then because the risk is too high. The women all start to cry.
Jaime runs into the kitchen looking for Orlando. He quickly tells Orlando what is going on. They need Orlando and the soldiers help. Orlando thinks to himself that he can't let Emilio die before he gets to take the woman Emilio loves away from him. They run off to the rescue scene.
Don Max yells and yells. He wants everyone to hurry and save Emilio.
Luba and Don Loco talk over punishments. Don Loco doesn't want her services anymore. He is planning a punishment that Luba would be proud of .... he is going to take Flor to the Meson de Edelmira. Luba is upset. She asks if he is planning on selling Flor?! Don Loco snaps his whip near Luba's face. She clamps her mouth tight from fright and listens as he rants that Edelmira will keep Flor in line! Don Loco stomps out of the cave and Luba throws the wad of cash down. She has to warn Flor! She can't go to the house. That house is a sin. Help her Virgencita!
Florina has found a horse and takes off on horseback. She talks to herself that she has to save Emilio. Don Max screams at the spectators to let him talk to Carmen alone. The people back away. He wants to know why Carmen is so worried about that dying of hunger Santos. He wants to know if the boy is the child that Carmen was blaming him for years ago. Carmen looks away.
Luba talks to herself as she rests her arms on THE chest. "What a dark soul you have Alvaro. If you only knew what was in this chest you would have a little compassion for Flor. But you will end up going crazy. Everything in it's time Alvaro. You are going to fall Alvaro ......"
ACTION TIME: Remember it is raining. We see a bulldozer madly working in the rain at the bottom of the pit. Emilio calls and waves to Santos but to no avail. We see rocks and mud rolling down a hill. We see the military boys' rescue a few families' minutes before a mudslide destroys their houses. Mud and destruction is everywhere. Gosh, thank goodness for the Mexican Armed Forces. Orlando is seen at the top of the pit calling for Emilio. He worries that Emilio is going to die. Orlando sees Florina who is smartly trying to save Emilio on her own. Orlando drags her out by the reins of her horse. She loudly protests as he drags her back to the spectators.
Don Max asks if Santos is their son. Carmen denies it, but what would he do if Santos was? Max yells at her he would never give him his last name! Santos would want all of his fortune! But before that could happen he would get rid of Santos' ambitious self by whipping him! Carmen is glad she didn't tell him the truth. She yells at Max that Santos is not his. Doesn't Max remember the blows he gave her in her stomach all the while knowing that she was pregnant?! She lost the child she was carrying! Santos was a poor orphan that she took in and gave all of her mothers love to. Max is happy to hear this news but he is still on the edge of sanity. He leaves to go and yell at the workers some more.
Santos works his bulldozer yelling that Maximo is not his father! We see large clumps of earth and rocks hail down on Santos and his bulldozer. There is a loud crashing noise as the spectators hear the landslide. The women scream and Max falls to the ground. He has lost his mind. Someone has said I'm sorry Senora and this sends Max off his rocker. He jumps up screaming and grabbing Elias's shirt. Is this all you can say he screams! I've lost my nephew! The men try to calm Max down with the sombrero wearing driver giving Max a little push. It's no ones fault he yells at Max.
The military guys decide they will go down to the pit and see if they can find anyone alive.
Emilio rises over the dirt to find Santos passed out and bleeding in his bulldozer. Santos is still alive. The recently ill, with life threatening gun shot wounds, Emilio picks Santos up and throws him over his shoulder. He wonders how they will get out of the pit. He wonders if he will split his stitches. (Not really.)
Bark Bark. Luba tells Gaspar that Tonki/Donky/sweet little doggie has a bad premonition that something bad is going to happen to Flor. She tells Gaspar about Don Locos visit and how he is going to take Flor away. Gaspar sings something about his muñequita and Luba flips out. She starts to yell and quickly paces the cave. We have to help her! Gaspar sings a little song about if they help her they will be burned alive. Luba is aware of the risk but they have to help her!
Blanca visits Soledad. They talk about Alina and the rain. Blanca tells her that she and Elias will not permit anything bad to happen to Alina.
Luba explains to Gaspar how she wants him to go to the Meson and threaten Edelmira. She wants Gaspar to tell Edelmira that if anything happens to Flor, Edelmira's business will burn. She wants him to tell Edelmira that Gaspars mother, the witch Luba, promises this will happen. Gaspar whines that he wants his muñequita. Luba is ticked to hear him whine about that. She tells him that he can't leave the cave for anything. She slows herself down and returns to her kind self. She tries to reason with Gaspar who can only sit there and dream of his muñequita.
Don Loco listens intently as Edelmira talks about how she gets her girls to do what she wants. She does something so they can't stand for a few days. The girls get very weak and they can't move. From that point forward the girls are so scared that they do what she wants. She is evil. Don Loco is intrigued. He tells her he has a girl that is not so easy to subdue. Would Edelmira teach the girl how to obey? Edelmira is happy to help him. She talks about how if the girl is pretty the men will go crazy for her. Don Loco doesn't like that. He grabs her roughly by her neck and tells her that the girl he will bring Edelmira she will NOT let any man touch! Edelmira is afraid. She asks who the girl is. He tells her it's Flor de Campo as he gives her a bunch of money and leaves. On his way out Loco is approached by one of the working girls. Loco thinks the girl is Alina. He snaps his crazy switch, grabs the girl by the ears, and tells her to act like the decent girl like he taught her to be. She runs off and he talks to himself that he hopes he hasn't done something bad. He prohibited Edelmira from selling Alina, besides his punishment is fair.
Blanca asks Soledad how she was able to resist Elias when they were younger. Soledad tells her that her whole being belonged to Alvaro and no one else. Blanca asks her if she could fall in love again. Soledad answers no, she is too hurt. Besides who would fall for her when Alvaro has so much power? Blanca repeats Who knows Soledad over and over.
Don Max is back yelling at the soldiers to go and see if Emilio is alive. Alina is heard squeaking in the background too. The rain pours down hard on everyone in a more natural pattern. Everyone is sad thinking Santos and Emilio are dead. The soldiers report that they can't go down, it isn't safe. Alina ugly cries. Someone yells look! It's Emilio making his way up the hill carrying Santos. They run to the rescue. Alina stands in the background watching and then runs off.
Back at the hacienda the doctor reports to Rosita and Carmen that Santos will be alright. Rosita is left alone with Santos talking about how she is no one with out him.
The men (sodliers et al) all talk over things with Emilio in the living room of the hacienda. Max is still outraged that Emilio would do all this for a worthless boy like Santos. The men laugh about how worried the women were. They mention how Alina was there and how worried she was about Emilio. Finally the men agree they need to bathe.
Castulo sneaks into Coral's room (Thank you Sylvia!) and places a nice big tarantula on her bed. He pulls the covers up and over the creature. He is excited to leave this surprise for her. His plan is that she will not want to sleep alone.
Don Loco and Sergio talk about how Emilio would be better off dead. Emilio has liberated the workers and saved Santos.
Emilio thinks about how Alina was watching him. Maybe she does like me! Maybe she doesn't. Maybe she does! Thelma enters his bedroom and makes a beeline for Emilio's body. She hugs him and kisses him. She talks to him in a soft voice about how much she loves him. She pulls him to his bed and they start to make out.
Edelmira tells all the creepy drunk men that Flor de Campo will soon be there for hire. The men are excited. Yuck Yuck Yuck.
Luba worries about Flor. She talks to herself about her worries and where Don Loco plans on taking Flor. Flor enters the cave silently and over hears Luba. She asks her where is my father going to take me?! What place!
Granillo and Edelmira talk about how Flor de Campo will soon be arriving. Edelmira brags that her loyalty can be bought by the highest bidder. She doesn't care about Alvaros rules.
Luba tells Flor that for all these years Luba has been falling for Flor. She thinks of her like a daughter. She loves her like a daughter. This time she can't stand the anxiety of worrying about what will happen to Flor.
Emilio is being kissed on his chest by Thelma as he remembers Alina kissing him in his sick bed. He remembers Alina saying she is his wife. He gets up and stops the action. He tells Thelma he doesn't love her. She whines but I'm your wife! He tells her that he understands but he doesn't love her. She whines and tries to get him back. He resists. She gets mad, yelling at him that She wishes that the person he loves will reject him in the same way that he rejected her!
Castulo is getting undressed when Thelma lets herself into his room. She stands in front of him and removes her shirt. She is braless. Don Loco remembers Alina as a young girl. He thinks how he would have liked her to be his daughter.
Thelma and Castulo have finished their business. Castulo, in the afterglow of their intimacy, admits that Gaspar is still alive. He pretends that Luba must have saved him. Thelma flips her crazy switch. She is mad! Castulo tells her not to worry he will take care of it. Thelma tells him she doesn't want to return to him ever if he doesn't kill Gaspar. She tears out of his room in a hissy. Meanwhile Emilio has been walking the property grounds. He sees Thelma leaving Castulo's room.
Castulo is getting ready for sleepy time in his tighty whiteys when there is a knock at his door. Castulo thinks it is Thelma returning. He grins as he opens the door. Ah oh! It's Emilio instead. Emilio demands to know what the Senora Thelma was doing there.

La Fea Más Bella #221 2/28/07 This is the day that never ends. Yes, it goes on and on my friend...
Back at Conceptos Marcia wanders through the secretaries' area and advises them that she'll be eating at her apartment. She begins to leave at the same time Saimon arrives with food for the cuartel. Saimon advises Marcia that the cuartel, but not Saimon, will be eating in the boardroom. Marcia asks if this is with the permission of the president. PM explains that it's because Lety has so much work she wanted to save time by eating in the boardroom. Marcia does not like the fact that the boardroom is turning into a dining room. She spits some fire about the changes Lety is making. She stalks away to go to her home. The cuartel worries about Marcia's reaction. PM directs Saimon to take the food to the boardroom. Saimon protests by saying he's not, among other things, a waiter or a burro. Martha cuts him short and orders him to the boardroom. Saimon turns but before he can leave, La Lichita stops him and asks what he is doing. Sara explains that the cuartel is eating in the boardroom. All conversation breaks down into making fun of the fact that Alicia doesn't get to eat. Sara makes some strange animal noises that I think is supposed to imitate a horse because Alicia earlier commented that it looks like she has horse hair. (Oh, God, bad memories of the day of the commercial and Pilar on that damn horse!) The cuartel leaves Alicia alone with her extra tight corset and empty stomach.
Omar and Fernando about a negotiation strategy. Yes, believe it or not, they talk business. For once, Pinky directs the Brain. Omar reminds Fernando of the $2 million that Aldo invested. Fernando gets excited when he hears Aldo's name. Fernando tells Omar that in order to get he and Omar out of debt, Fernando needs to talk to Lety about what happened with Aldo and what she's told Aldo. Omar half-heartedly agrees and wonders to himself about the mess that Fernando is about to get himself into.
In the apartment Marcia packs for her trip to Europe. She remembers how quickly Fernando dismissed her in the meeting and wanted to send her alone on a business trip to the United States or Europe. She picks up the wedding dress of shame and comments how it torments her. Her relationship with Fernando has gone from bad to worse.
The cuartel figure out their orders in the boardroom. Lety enters the room. Saimon asks her for the money to pay for the food. Lety says that she invited the cuartel, so she'll pay. The cuartel cheers. The cuartel jokes about the quality of the food and PM enters with Lety's purse. PM reaches into Lety's purse for money, and the photo of Lety and Aldo falls to the table. The cuartel passes the photo around and asks Lety where the photo was taken. Juana guesses that Lety met Aldo by the sea. Saimon interrupts the conversation to ask if he may keep a tip. Lety says yes. Irmita leans over the table and says Lety does not have to tell them anything that's private. Lety explains that she met Aldo when she went to Acapulco with Carolina. He rescued her when a wave wiped her out and Aldo saved her. Just to incite the cuartel she says that she thinks he gave her mouth to mouth resuscitation. She explains that she and Aldo are very good friends. The cuartel wants to know everything, despite Irmita's protests. Lety humors them and with some encouragement from Martha, she tells the cuartel that she gave Aldo one, no two kisses.
Tomas continues to enjoy his food. Aldo asks Tomas how he knows that Aldo likes "her." Tomas replies that he figured it out himself when he overheard Aldo talking about her peras. (He is talking about her boobs. I, however, do not remember this conversation so I have no idea of the context in which Aldo used this word. Can anyone help me?) Tomas describes "her" with some not so flattering hand gestures. Aldo acts more than confused. Aldo asks Tomas if he's talking about Lety. "Of course not! Are you?" Tomas replies. Aldo asks who Tomas is talking about. Alicia Ferreira! Aldo laughs and swears on his and Tomas's hair color that he does not like Alicia Ferreira. Tomas smiles, giggles and snorts. (In that order)
Lety tells the cuartel more nice things about Aldo. He taught her how to dive. The phone rings but the cuartel does not want Lety to answer it. Irmita, the last professional in the room, answers the phone. It's Saimon, professionally sitting in the reception office. There's a gentleman on the phone who wants to speak with only Don Luigi. It's Rulli; Irmita has Saimon give her the call. Irmita explains that Luigi doesn't answer his phone because he's very busy and she does not know where he is. Rulli wants to send Luigi a doll. After Irmita explains the call to the cuartel, she asks Lety if Aldo has anything to do with Aldo. She tells them that Luigi broke up with Rulli for Don Aldo. Lety replies to Irmita's question by saying that Luigi confused things. Juana makes some jokes about Aldo batting for the other team.
Saimon sits in the reception area and is caught by Jorge Flores ("PG") singing to himself. PG asks Saimon if this is Fernando Mendiola's company. Saimon in English says "of course" with the cutest little accent. He explains that the business also belongs to the Villaroels. Next, PG asks if Lety works at this office. Saimon confirms that she's the president. Jorge looks impressed
PM wants to know how Lety kissed Aldo twice and is not his girlfriend. Lola doesn't think it's fair that Lety had to leave Aldo and the ocean in order to come back to Conceptos and be near Fernando. PM asks if Lety has never considered that she and Aldo could be more than just friends. Lola responds for Lety saying that she is still in love with Fernando. The cuartel (minus Irmita) has obviously chosen sides, and it's not team Fernando. Saimon interrupts the lunch to say that PG arrived at the office. Lety excitedly greets him. Saimon leaves again. Lety introduces the cuartel to PG, her friend.
Fernando enters Lety's office and overhears PG telling Lety that he sees a man in Lety's life who is very generous. Fernando assumes that PG is speaking about him. Wait! PG see two men who think a lot about Lety. The cuartel wants to know who these two men are. One man is generous and the other is somber and sad. His aura is blue and it gets darker every day. Juana wants to know more about the generous man. Jorge acquiesces and says that this man admires and appreciates Lety. He knows Lety's soul. Fernando figures out that this obviously cannot be him and decides to leave, but not before flipping the painting of a conch shell, part of anatomy, lo que sea.
Tomas and Aldo enter the office congratulating their own fashion sense. Tomas asks if Aldo likes Lety. Before Aldo can answer, Saimon enters dancing with a giant white bear. Saimon clutches the bear and says he misses his PM. Just kidding! It's a gift for Luigi. The problem is that Saimon has to sit in the reception area and cannot deliver the bear. Aldo offers to take the bear to Luigi on his way to his own office. Saimon hands him the bear and thanks him.
PG has more to tell Lety. The generous man has a surprise for Lety, but she's going to have some difficult days first. She is going to have disorder in her life as the result of these two men and a woman. The cuartel thinks it might be Marcia. PG knocks that thought down by saying that this woman will come from a foreign land.
Fernando enters his and Omar's office and makes a beeline for the much disputed chair. Fernando tells Omar that Jorge Flowers is talking with Lety. He's telling Lety her future. Omar has no idea who is Jorge Flores. Fernando explains that Jorge Flores is his own personal clairvoyant who is at this moment talking to Lety about her future. Omar finds this very entertaining. He uses his cordless phone to predict that Fernando will be going on a journey to the mas alla, the United States. Omar asks for Fernando's hand as if he's going to read Fernando's palm. Omar squeals and for a second it looks as though Jaime Camil will not be able to keep it together to finish the scene. Omar wants to talk about the clairvoyance but Fernando's more concerned about another man being in Lety's life. He thinks that if there is another man that he will lose Lety. Omar, in a rare moment of clarity, says he thinks that Fernando already lost her. We know we’re in trouble when Omar speaks words of wisdom!
Luigi, who Irmita claimed was working so hard, meditates to something that we cannot hear. Aldo tries to silently put the bear in one of Luigi's seats. Luigi sees him, but pretends that he did not. Once Aldo leaves, Luigi screams with excitement. He reads the card aloud. "My life without you does not make sense. I want you by my side for forever." Luigi just cannot get over his luck and starts to cry to himself.
The cuartel begs Jorge for more information. PG says he does not know who is this other man. Fernando enters the room and accuses PG Of being a traitor. He asks to speak with PG in private, in his office. Fernando changes his mind and says they should go to Marcia's office. (He uses her even when she's not there.)
PG can see that Fernando's aura is very red with anger. Fernando wants PG to tell him what PG said to Lety. PG tells Fernando the same that he told the cuartel, he doesn't know who the other man is. PG tells Fernando that Lety is the light of his life. Fernando wants to know if he has a blue aura. Of course, PG confirms. Lety is the light of Fernando's life. Fernando begs PG to tell Lety that Fernando is in love with her. PG says he cannot; Fernando must fight for this love PG thinks Fernando should use this trip to put his spirit and thoughts in order. He tells Fernando to be patient. Fernando does a little "dance" and then tries the Luigi route, meditation.
Lety sits in her office with a pensive look on her face. She calls her mother to tell Julieta that she is confused. Everyone is saying that Aldo is more than just a friend and that he wants a relationship with Lety. Julieta obviously thinks this is a good idea and does not understand why this bothers Lety. Lety doesn't want to ruin her friendship with Aldo.
Luigi talks to the bear. Weirdly enough, he names it Jorge. Irmita enters the office and sees that Luigi received his present. Luigi tells Irmita that he's happy, euphoric really. "He wants me! He wants me!" He asks Irmita why she didn't say anything. She begins to tell him, but he interrupts her to say that it's not important. He shows her the card. Luigi cannot believe that this man wants to be with him forever. Irmita congratulates him. They hug.
Lety continues to talk to her mother about Aldo. Lety confesses that her friendship with Aldo is very important. She needs him with her. Julieta thinks Aldo can give Lety all his support and give her something more. Lety says she knows what she's going to do. She's going to forget all about it. It's an idea that's been put in her head by Carolina and PG. Besides, Aldo has never shown her that he wants anything more than a friendship. Lety tells her mother that she loves her and hangs up.
Erasmo asks why Lety called. Just to say hello, Julieta replies.
Aldo complains to Carolina (on the phone) about his feelings. He's trying to finish the last chapter of his book, but his emotions are getting the best of him. Giving a gift didn't make it any better. Nothing is making his love evident to his significant other. Aldo knows that he just needs to come out and say it but he's afraid, because there's someone else. Luigi overhears all this, thinking Aldo's talking about him.
Terminology of the day:
Revolcada = "wipe out"
Tomorrow: Will Alicia believe Tomas? Will Aldo finally tell Lety about his feelings? Will Fernando ovehear?

Duelo de Pasiones Tuesday 2/27 - "Yo Soy Alina Montellano!"
Santos tells his hysterical sister, I mean very young mother, that he didn't mean to kill or hurt Don Max, he just wanted Rosita to be left in peace.
Emilio tells Flor she can't lie to him because he'll never forget the first time he saw Alina. He has an orange flashback to their meeting. He tells Flor, "It was a goodbye party..." "...of my friend Sophia," she finishes, "You sang and she introduced us." Emilio looks confused. She tells him more details of their time together and says that cruel destiny separated them. "No puede ser," cries Emilio.
Rosita runs into Santos' shack and tells Santos that he didn't kill Don Max.
Flor says the Emilio Valtierra that she knows in Sierra Escondido is nothing like the Emilio she met long ago. Emilio says she is nothing like the young woman he fell in love with, how could she be so different? Flor says she might look different but she's the same inside whereas Emilio has no heart. He was going to marry Flor only to get out of his responsibility to 'that woman' (points to Thelma who has somehow materialized in the room). She tells Emilio she doesn't even want her heart necklace anymore because she doesn't want to remember a man she detests. She throws the necklace to the ground and runs out. Emilio and Flor will have this argument many times.
Thelma laughs, "what a surprise, Flor turns out to be a good girl after all. Why such a sad face Emilio? You, the conqueror of ingenuous young women, repudiated. Ha!" Emilio tells her to shut up or he'll throw her out. He stomps out of the room and Thelma hugs herself and laughs.
Orlando sees Flor as she leaves. She says she's never setting foot in La Rinconada again. Orlando says in that case he will come to visit her in the country. He kisses his fingers as she dashes out.
Doña Loco and Adela wring their hands over what Don Loco might do to Alina.
Vera tries to put an ice pack on Don Max's head but he says all he wants to do is kill that damned Santos. Vera is shocked by his words. "Don't be stupid," he says, "it's only a figure of speech!" He stomps out in a rage.
Emilio enters and wants to talk to Vera. She has lived her entire life in Sierra Escondido, right? Is it true that Flor is Alina Montellano? Vera is impactada.
Flor sobs to Tonki, she had to tell the truth because Emilio was so cruel to her. For him Alina is dead. Flor del Campo is filthy and despicable. She IS Alina Montellano even though her father doesn't want to believe it.
Vera confirms for Emilio that Flor is Alina. She and the others couldn't admit it because they were afraid of the powerful Don Loco. She doesn't know why Don Loco suddenly and for no reason turned against the good and lovely Alina. Emilio tells her "I want you to know that around here Don Loco doesn't give the orders. I give the orders here!"
Doña Loco wanders into their parlor and Don Loco scolds her for not being in her room. She wants to know about her daughter. He accuses her of feigning loco-ness. If she is...boy will she be sorry. Yawn.
Padre Cristobal is playing dress-up with his Virgin Mary statue when Emilio arrives. He asks the Padre if Flor is Alina and the padre confirms it. Emilio says Flor insulted him last night. Because of the pain she inflicted on him he wants to know the whole story and the padre is going to tell it to him now.
What's the secret for silky smooth skin in the mountains? Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! We get a close-up of Thelma moisturizing her shapely gams as Orlando slinks into her room. He wants to know why Flor left La Rinconada in such a rush the night before. "Oh, you're referring to Alina Montellano, the real daughter of Alvaro," Thelma answers, "Yep, she confessed everything last night, her father has been hiding her for who knows what strange reason." Orlando is impactado, then smirks, "Emilio's 'great love' reappears when he can no longer be with her."
Nurse Susi arrives to attend to young master Angel but young master Angel wants to be alone. Angel reasons that Alina was Emilio's great love but now Emilio is married and expecting a son. Angel on the other hand has no compromises and sincerely loves Flor so he, Angel, will conquer Alina Montellano.
The padre tells Emilio that Flor is the victim of revenge, the revenge of Don Loco against Doña Loco. Padre says that Emilio preferred to believe that Flor deserved Don Loco's sentence, Emilio's heart was insensible to the truth.
Luba sends Gaspar off to get branches for the fire. She tells him not to be be late. "No ma!" he promises. Luba tells Flor to stop pining for that devil Emilio. Flor says Luba is right. Emilio isn't worth it, he still treated her badly even when she told him the truth about her identity. "You what?!?!?" Luba is impactada and horrified. She paces the cave in circles and rubs her forehead. Flor says she's giving up on love once and for all.
At the highway construction camp Elias interrupts Emilio's meeting with the foreman. He tells them Don Loco has organized his workers to protest against the highway construction and he can assure them it will be a real hindrance. Emilio says, "That man is crazy. It's time for us to settle our business." He jumps on his horse and rides off.
What a surprise, the sultry and sex-starved Thelma is paying a visit to the studly yet scabby Castulo. He tells her he did the job (kisses her shoulder), yeah sure, he killed Gaspar (kisses her neck), uh huh, he opened Gaspar's throat in two and left him bleeding in the field, can they have sex now? Thelma has another favor to ask, could Castulo please eliminate another person? (Ooooh, she's gonna be pissed off when she finds out Gaspar is still alive!!)
Coral and Granillo argue about her dance moves. She tells Edelmira she's in a funk because of unrequited love. Edelmira says "No way! You're such a hottie you can get anyone." Coral says Ed is right, starting now she's going after the one she loves, Emilio Valtierra! Ed is amused at Coral's lofty goals.
Castulo tells Thelma that killing Gaspar was a lot of work because Gaspar was stronger than he, but killing Coral will be easy, like killing a butterfly with a swipe of his hand. Can they have sex now? First Thelma wants to know how he plans to take care of that tramp. He says it will be easy, she'll leave alone, he'll take charge, he knows how to handle that kind of woman. This talk excites Thelma and they finally get down to business. I hope Castulo enjoys it now, because when Thelma finds out he didn't kill Gaspar, Castulo will become Castrado.
Cut to Gaspar with a large machete venting his frustrations on a tree. I'm not sure, but I think he says that in one easy blow (as he whacks the tree) 'you' (Thelma?) would end his life. He slumps down on the ground. "I'm not as bad as she but I still love her. Someday you're going to return to me, you'll see, some day you'll return to Gaspar!"
Emilio visits Don Loco. He says they are building the highway by order of the governor and there is nothing Don Loco or a thousand men can do to stop it. "We'll see," says Loco, keeping cool. Emilio says they will bring in the military and Don Loco will lose control of Sierra Escondido. Furthermore, there is that business of Alina; he knows what's up and it has to stop. Loco tells 'Capitan' Emilio to stay out of his personal business. Emilio says he intends to defend Alina and then they will have a confrontation. "Any time you want!" answers Loco. It's amazing, they conducted this pissing contest without changing their expressions at all.
The Central American paramilitary dudes have interrogated Jose all night but to no avail. The Sergeant says no matter, they will use Jose to negotiate. They will tell the leader of those delinquents that Jose has opened his mouth. I guess the Sergeant thinks using Jose as bait will flush out the leader of the drug runners.
At the drug camp the men tell Jacinto that they looked for Jose everywhere. He has escaped. Jacinto figures Jose started the fire as a diversion. He orders the men to put together a search party to recapture Jose. If they find him they are to kill him. Jacinto throws his machete into a tree trunk. Felicia begs Jacinto not to kill Jose, she is expecting his child. "QUE?!?!?!?" explodes Jacinto.
Don Loco tells Sergio that Flor would never be stupid enough to accept help from Emilio. She knows her mother would pay dearly. He has a plan to get rid of Emilio. He'll make sure Capitan Emilio will want nothing to do with that girl.
Mexico City - Marianita calls Dr. Love's clinic. In her puny-chipmunky-little-girl voice she leaves a message for the doctor, "Tell him it's Sra. Mariana Montellano (kiss kiss), I love him a lot and I want to be his girlfriend." Uh, right. But then again maybe Dr. Love and his creepy puppet get calls like that all the time.
Mariana enters the room and scolds Marianita for calling Dr. Love 'papi' the day before. Marianita says the other girls tease her for not having a father. "But you DO have a father, he's traveling and someday he'll return," answers mama. "He's forgotten us," sobs Marianita, "I want to have a father!"
Gaspar is pouting by the river when Castulo approaches. Gaspar jumps up holding a big log. He asks if Castulo intends to kill him. No, Castulo only wants to advise him to leave the muñequita alone. She is the patron's wife. (Not that that stopped Castulo, but I digress.)
Castulo sits next to Gaspar so they can talk man to man. He tells Gaspar not to have illusions about Thelma. But Gaspar loves his muñequita and he is nothing if not single-minded. He has a hole in his soul and it needs filling. This is Gaspar's poetic way of saying the heat is turned up high downstairs. Gaspar saved Castulo's life and Castulo owes him a favor. He wants Castulo to bring him his muñequita.
Don Max visits Elias to tell him he heard Elias hired one of his best workers. Santos was especially valuable because he preferred dangerous, life-threatening tasks. Elias is pleased to hear it, he has an excellent OSHA unapproved position that is difficult to fill. It sounds like Don Max's man Santos will be perfect for the job.
Carmen tells Santos to stay away from Don Max, he has no idea with whom he's dealing. Santos says he does, he's dealing with a repugnant old goat who abuses his power and who is after Rosita. (OK, I'd say Santos DOES know.) "No Santos," replies Carmen, "you have to know the truth. Don Max is your father!" Santos is impactado.
Luba and Flor are gathering herbs when Emilio rides up. Luba brandishes her knife and tells him to beat it. Emilio wants to ask Flor's forgiveness. If she forgives him he would like to once again be the Emilio that she fell in love with. Um, dude, this is how it works, you prove that you've become a better person and THEN the babe forgives you.
Emilio sweet talks Flor, he says he loves her, he kisses her. Luba hisses, "Flor, don't you remember all the things this pig-head did?" Flor says Luba is right, how can Emilio say these things when his wife is expecting his child? They argue. Luba stabs the tree branch and digs her knife around for effect.
Santos goes ape-shit at Carmen's news. He can only imagine what Don Max did to Carmen, no doubt the same crap he's pulling with Rosita! "That guy is a misery, I'll never accept him as my father!" he yells.
Back at bicker central:
Alina - "You're a liar!"
Emilio - "You're a bigger liar. Why didn't you tell me who you really are?"
Alina - "I was going to tell you on our wedding day."
Emilio - "You're a disappointment!"
Alina - "You're a bigger disappointment!"
Emilio - "Everybody says your mom's a cheat and you're the daughter of a foreman."
Alina hauls off and slaps the hell out of Emilio. It looks like she really slapped him too! I wonder...
Alina - "You'll never change."
Emilio - "You'll never change. You used to be sweet and malleable, now you're strong and have a mind of your own. What happened to you?
Alina - "Call me Flor, I'm no longer Alina."
Emilio - "Fine then, forget what I said about being good Emilio. I'll return to being the Emilio you hate."
They glare and a horse whinnies oddly in the background.
Santos rides his horse and thought bubbles, "Damn the luck, how could I be his son? Gross!"
Elias sees Santos and tells him he has an excavation job for him. It's dangerous but it pays well. Santos is ready. Suddenly it thunders overhead. A terrible storm has arrived. Elias says they should wait for a better day but Santos insists they go right away and rides off to the pits. "No Santos," yells Elias, "it's too dangerous!" A huge thunderhead with lightning looms ominously overhead.
Soledad is alone in her room having a flashback to when she and Elias were young. Young Soledad says he is her best friend. Young Elias tries to pick a rose for her and pricks his finger. Back in the present she sighs, "Elias, my friend."
Angel sits at his window and watches the storm. He tells Nurse Susi it will be a bad storm. "What about the people who have no homes? What about Alina?" he asks.
It is now pouring rain and Emilio and Flor are STILL arguing. They have incredible stamina for this mindless drivel. On the upside, a treat for the gentlemen, her clothes are so wet and heavy they are starting to slide down her body.
Lightning strikes a tree next to them, a branch falls, and they wind up in each others' arms.
Thelma runs in out of the rain. She looks happy and satisfied. She tells Orlando she hasn't seen Emilio and she doesn't really care. Orlando says he needs to conquer Flor now that Emilio is out of the way. "Whatever," chirps Thelma, and happily runs upstairs. Sounds like Castulo's toolbox still has its screwdriver.
Don Loco talks to himself and wonders if Soledad is faking her craziness. She's gonna pay, yada yada yada.
Emilio and Flor are arguing goodbye. She says he can't tell her what to do and don't expect her to thank him for saving her life (from the falling branch I suppose). "Someday you'll be obeying me all right, and that day will have been worth the trouble of saving your life. Goodbye Flor del Campo!" Oh ick, who writes these lines anyway?
Emilio leaves Flor standing in the rain, her shirt sodden and unbuttoned.
Previews for tomorrow: Angel tells Emilio he wants to marry Flor, Don Loco tells Luba he's come to take Flor away, a big rock teeters over Santos, Emilio is wet and impactado.

La Fea Más Bella #220 2/27/07 Aldo shows his teeth (and not in a smile) Grrr!; Lola gets hers and Tomas plays with his new friend
Oxi is trying to reach the lawyer that processed the repossession of her car, but he’s in Guadalajara.
Caro goes in to see Aldo and ends up trying to cheer him up because she knows he’s bustin’ at the seams to profess his love. I’m thinking you know, even if you tell her, that’s not going to make her love YOU, necessarily, so what difference does it make? Anyway..I digress. Aldo confesses to Carolina, “Grrrr” that guy drives him nuts. She is surprised because he’s such a tranquil mellow bud. He tells her that Aldo stayed in Acapulco taking in the sun.
Now we see Tomas on the phone contacting the lawyer in Guadalajara and asks him how much it would cost to buy the car he repoed from Oxi, he says it has sentimental value. While he is working this angle he stares at a billion pictures of her. He bordering on stalker, definitely stalker.
Aldo types on his computer that he’s not sure which is better, the Rajas Poblana or the family he shared them with, or ah ha! It could be the combination of both!
Just then there is a knock on his door. Fer sort of waltzes in without really waiting for a response. Fer asks Aldo why he is so in favor of Fer going away on this trip. Aldo asks him if he doesn’t think he’s worthy of this support. Yes he thinks it’s weird. He asks what the fascination with shells is. He blows into one tiny one. He thinks Aldo is always in contradiction with him. Aldo says he did to him, by wanting to kick him off the project. Fer thinks he still should be off and wouldn’t be missed Aldo says he will be missed by plenty, by Lety, and Andreu who put up 2mil. He tells him that he really thinks he’s the best for this role and that’s why he supported him. Then he jokes (sort of) and tells him that he actually wants him far away so there will be less confrontations between them. Fer acts surprised, apparently not thinking they have confrontations, that it’s just a matter of perspective. He thinks Aldo has a personal reason but Aldo says it was his idea anyway. Fer blows the sails of Aldo’s model boat. He ends up telling Aldo that he thinks Aldo is invading his territory and he doesn’t like it. Aldo says, and, and..? Fer says nothing, I’m just advising you. Aldo says how unpleasant Fer is to him.
Alicia reaches the lawyer and wants to know how much she will get back from the repo of her car, the difference between it’s value and what she owed. He says he has a buyer, and she tells him to take his time with the buyer and then reminds him how awful her life is because of him. She continues fighting with him when her cell cuts off and the recording tells her of the suspension and that she needs to contact collections. Marta types that the witches around here always have problems when they have their hair set?
Caro goes to talk to Marcia who wanted to know what her relationship with Lety is. She said she needed an assistant and since you let her go, I needed someone hardworking and responsible so I took her to Acapulco for Nuestra Belleza. Mar asks if she knows the circumstances under which Lety left and Caro says more or less. Mar continues to tell her that Lety put her through a real hell.
Luigi and Irma are talking and Irma tells him that Rulli called but he doesn’t care about it, that guy’s out of his head, and he’s dead to him. Eventually he admits it’s his own fault, that he’s in love with someone else.
Caro tells Mar that she doesn’t want to meddle in any problems, that she only came to work. Mar says well you must be happy that Lety’s prez, but Caro says just because she’s friends with Lety it’s nothing against her. She says she doesn’t want this to come between them but there are others who could do this work if you want, and Mar says no.
Oxi talks to the collections dept of the cell phone company complaining about her cell phone being cut off- as if that will get her anywhere. In the meantime the Cuartel laughs on about her and joking with paper horns offering them to her to use when she asks if any of them have cell phones.
After the say they have none they comment that they wonder how it goes with Cheque.
We’ll find out now….
Cheque practices how he will tell Jasmin that he has to pay so much. She calls and wants to know about it, he beats around the bush but she doesn’t buy it finally he confesses that he has to pay 7000 pesos per month to Lola. Jasmin is p***d. Just then Lola walks past her and Jas tells her she knows about the judge’s decree and that Lola has left them with out a cent and starving. Lola laughs and says Cheque won’t ever starve because he has full reserves (pointing to her waist)!! Jas continues that now she can’t pay for her modeling career and that she’s finished. Lola mocks Jasmin for not becoming a star, instead she explains that her kids will now not be expelled for non-payment. You tell her Lola!!
Now Fer is on the couch again wondering where a guy like Aldo came from. Omar reminds him he was a friend with Lety. Just what he needed to hear I’m sure. Then it occurs to Fer that maybe Aldo knows everything about Conceptos and Filmo Imagen etc. and he asks Omar if he thinks she might have told him. Aldo thinks he might have. Just then he gets a call from the US Embassy and starts to take it in English.
Oxi is spying on Aldo and Luigi discussing the project and Aldo needs the draft of the commercial so he can get going on somethings. They finish and start to walk out slamming into her spying on the way. Tomas walks up and asks to speak to Aldo, while they are in the distance a bit Oxi and Luigi fight about who gets Aldo. Each thinking he’s interested in them. To settle it, Oxi and Luigi decide they want to invite Aldo out at the same time to see who he will pick, because of course he will pick his preferred companion. He and Tomas rejoin the group and announce that Tomas has invited Aldo to dinner. Ba dum dum….
Lola comes in and has something incredibly exciting to tell the cuartel! Cheque has to pay her 7000 pesos per month. They all scream and carry on loudly to which Oxi reminds them to be quiet. Juana takes pity on her, and they all decide the y have to celebrate. Lola goes in to tell Lety and invite her to lunch, but she can’t go she’s too busy. Lola starts to say oh, now your pres you can’t hang with us anymore girlfriend? Lety says that’s not it, that she has stuff she has to finish, but if they bring food back everyone can eat with her quickly in the conference tomb. I meant to say room, but then I typed it wrong, and decided it worked. I would consider that place a tomb if I had to be in there as much as those people. Yikes.
Oxi goes in to see Marci and tells her they died. Mar thinks the worst. Who died? She says her phone. She gets mad for being alarmed. Oxi babbles on about he sad state of affairs and Mar warns her she won’t get another cent loaned to her so not to even think about it because she still hasn’t even paid what she got before. Oxi thinks she’s cruel. Mar says take this crap to the Pres, because she’s the one with the power now, I’m living on a salary too now. She mentions she’s going to London.
Fer is on the phone telling of his imminent trip to NY. How did we miss this visit?????? Omar is saying the exact good bye to his telephone guest and they sit down to discuss what Aldo might know again, that he deceived Lety and doesn’t really love her? Omar thinks probably which could be a reason for him to poison her against you. Fer thinks they need to find out exactly.
Oxi tries her luck on the Pres. She tells of her perils and asks for a raise and an advance on the raise. Lety very sweetly explains that she has no budget to do that and that Oxi already makes more than the others and they manage ok. Oxi brings up she’s not just any secretary that she studied….Lety says yeah and you learned how to make bills very well. She gives her tissues, and one especially for the death of her phone. When Oxi realizes the croc tears aren’t working she accuses Lety of holding the past against her that this is her revenge. Lety denies it flatly.
At La Comidilla, Tomas is chowing down with Aldo and they even ask for more food. Aldo is surprised at how much Tomas can eat. Tomas mentions he’s earning the salary of a VP, but he hasn’t been paid yet, so Aldo offers to pay. Tomas starts talking about how upset Fer was when Gui demanded Aldo be in charge. He takes stuff of someone else’s table. Tomas can tell Aldo doesn’t like him either. Tomas says he likes him even worse. Tomas tells Aldo that he knows about everything the relationship with Lety. Everything. Lety told him. Aldo agrees they share the distaste for Fer. Tomas says yes, but unfortunately they also like the same woman. Aldo thinks he meant Lety, and the impactada music plays.
