Destilando Amor--Thursday, April 12
Gaviota is explaining why she doesn’t sing…because it reminds her of the harvesters, and then it reminds her of Rodrigo and then that reminds her of his betrayal. So she believes she’ll never sing again. Flashback to happier times with Rodriguito.
Isadora is also pouting about Rodrigo. Aaron and Minerva suggest a return to the city, to avoid that working class tramp (which is not the official definition, but seems to be how they are using the word la jornalera) . Isadora agrees. Rodrigo comes in and gets the scoop, Isadora fell off a horse and bumped her head. Rodrigo wants her to see a specialist, but she doesn’t need no stinkin’ specialist, she just wants Ro at her side.
Hilario is feeling guilty about Isadora’s accident. Erica tells him pshaw, she isn’t blind and doesn’t suck her thumb (common misconceptions) she knows that it’s stupid Gaviota’s fault. Hilario tells her not to meddle. She says, who are you to tell me what to do.
Isadora tells Rodrigo that she loves him and if he isn’t at her side, she would rather die. Rodrigo tells her to calm down and tells her she’s a really brave woman (probably not what she wanted to hear…). Rodrigo tucks her into bed, turns out the light and goes to chat with Aaron. The moment he’s gone, Isadora sits up and tells herself that her diabolical little plan is working. She doesn’t care how long she has to stay in that bed, she will get Ro back.
Pilar (I love that name) and Minerva are crabbing about Rodrigo and the (im)possibility of divorce in the family. Daniela calls and Minerva tells her that if she’s thinking about getting married, think twice (um…isn’t that always good advice). Pilar tells Daniela about Rodrigo asking for a divorce and cavorting with some little working class tramp. Daniela’s not surprised…Rodrigo wasn’t in love when he got married. Daniela’s psyched because love won out….meanwhile across the room some guy is drawing a picture of her.
Gaviota is doing laundry and starts hearing voices. She tells herself it’s because she loves Rodrigo so much, she carries him with her and that she’ll never love another man, and that she renounces love so that at least he can be happy even if it is with another.
Aaron and Minerva suggest that Ro & Isadora move back to the city. Rodrigo’s not psyched about that idea and says he’ll never move back there.
Back in the city….Gaviota goes off to work and her mom gives her a little blessing. At her new job—receptionist in a hotel—Gaviota looks hot in her uniform and Sr. Vallejo totally checks her out. Flavia, the sensibly dressed assistant to Sr. Vallejo, expresses dislike toward Gaviota and
Rodrigo delivers a little monologue that lets us know that despite the complicated situation, he still loves and thinks about Gaviota. Isadora wakes up with a little fake cough and Ro tells her he has to go check on the harvest. She tells him she loves him. He responds, less than romantically, by telling her to take her medicine so she can get well enough to sign the divorce papers (well that’s what he meant).
Pilar & Aaron are discussing Rodrigo’s divorce. She continues to insist that divorce is not a possibility. Aaron says that hopefully with this ‘injury’ Isadora will make Ro forget all about the little working class tramp he’s in love with.
Erica is pursuing her gossip leads out in the field. A worker tells her about a discussion he overheard between Ro & Gaviota…Erica comes to the conclusion that Gaviota was pregnant by Ro. She runs to tell Isadora who freaks out.
Rodrigo is telling James how guilty he feels for Isadora’s accident. His guilt doesn’t really affect the fact that he doesn’t love her and still wants a divorce, though. He does decide to stop looking for Gaviota just while Isadora is recuperating. Crispin calls, saying that he’s found Gaviota. He speeds off in his truck to find her. So much for feeling guilty.
Nancy and Gaviota continue their idle chit chat at work.
Isadora finds out that Rodrigo ran off to look for Gaviota. She calls in Roman to get some intel. He tells her that Ro & James went to
Aaron goes to work in his office…he has a new secretary…Lluvia Camargo. She’s hot and he’s psyched. She’s such a good secretary that she tells him about his phone calls by slinking into his office and telling him in person. He tells her he’s going to give her a list of phone numbers that are to be kept confidential…especially from his wife (snark, snark). He takes the call from Eugenia and promises to spend the entire afternoon with her.
Minerva is at a doctor’s appointment, demanding to get pregnant quickly (um, I think you might be asking the wrong person there) since her marriage depends on it. Minerva gets home and gets a call from Isadora, who tells her that Rodrigo had a kid with Gaviota.
Rodrigo is at the farm in
Minerva goes to the office to talk to Aaron. She’s not pleased with the new secretary. Lluvia calls Aaron, who doesn’t answer the phone, telling Eugenia that he doesn’t want to be interrupted when he’s with her.
Rodrigo arrives back at home and Isadora starts yelling at him about where he’d been and where his kid is. He tells her he doesn’t have a child and has a flashback to when Gaviota told him she lost his child and tells her not to bother him with that memory again. She screams that she doesn’t believe him.

Duelo de Pasiones, Thursday April 12 - Ah, the glories of being Don Loco's woman
After Soledad left the room, Alvaro worriedly asked Alfonsina if she thought it was true that Soledad didn't care about their affair.
Alfonsina asked, "Why, Patron? Le calo?" I don't know what that means (can someone explain?) but Alvaro said disgustedly, "Please," and stalked away. Alfonsina smirked.
At Luba's cave: Elias was well enough to sit up in a chair with a blanket wrapped around him. Luba told him Alina was at Edelmira's place again. Elias asked her to go tell Soledad that Alina was fine so Soledad wouldn't worry.
At Edelmira's: Granillo cried a little and told Alina he was fed up with Edel, but he loved his job and couldn't easily find another one. Alina told him not to get into trouble for her sake, but Granillo said, "While I am here, no one will hurt you." After he left the room, Alina lamented about being hungry and prayed for help.
In the countryside somewhere: Emilio and his soldiers set up camp while a man spied on them from behind some trees.
Back at Casa Loco: Soledad sat on the paralyzed Mariana's bed and promised to do all she could to help her. Mariana thought that Soledad had always been nice, and wondered why Alvaro treated her so badly.
Soledad said her life with Alvaro was horrible but she was used to it. She told Mariana that Alvaro's jealousy had been triggered by Jose's mysterious letter and now Alvaro thought Alina was Jose's daughter.
Mariana became agitated and began hyperventilating, trying to talk. Soledad attempted to calm her down by explaining the situation, which of course only upset Mariana more.
When Soledad said, "Jose Gomez died without saying who wrote this letter," Mariana passed out. Soledad ran from the room calling for Adela.
Don Loco was about to embrace Alfonsina when Adela ran into their room and told them that Soledad said Mariana had fainted.
Alfonsina snapped, "What a coincidence, if Senora Mariana came here this morning perfectly well!" Alvaro said he hoped to God that what Alfonsina was saying was wrong. He and Adela hurried out of the room with Alfonsina swishing along behind them.
Alvaro leaned over the unconcious Mariana and told her, "Don't do this anymore, Mariana. Don't scare me." Mariana opened her eyes. Alvaro and Soledad squabbled over whose fault it was that Mariana had fainted.
Alfonsina said (I think) that she didn't trust "this woman." Soledad said, "I am the lady of this house!" Don Loco said, "No, you are wrong, Soledad. Alfonsina is the lady of the house, and you are going to respect her." He told Mariana he would ask Dr. Vasquez to examine her tomorrow.
After Don Loco and Alfonsina left, Soledad apologized to Mariana, who thought (in a very forceful voiceover), "Pardon me, too, Soledad, for my cowardice, for not confronting my brother. I have caused you so much pain. And poor Alina, I don't want to think what is happening to her."
In Mexico City: Ricardo (aka Dr. Love) told Malena that without physical therapy Mariana would remain a quadriplegic, but he would go to Sierra Escondida to help her.
At Edelmira's place: Edelmira yelled at Alina for lazing around in bed instead of working. Alina said she was tired and hadn't eaten in two days. She whined, "I feel very weak," but Edelmira said, "I don't care how you feel!" and forced her to get up.
Later, when Alina was serving beer to customers, Edelmira unreasonably accused her of stealing money and sent her back to her room.
Orlando came in and asked Granillo if Flor was there. Granillo asked, "Why so interested in finding her?" Orlando said, "I have my reasons," and claimed he wanted to help her.
Granillo said if he saw Flor, he would tell her Orlando was looking for her, then told himself he was suspicious of Orlando. ("No me da buena espina.")
At the military camp: Emilio dreamed of seeing Angel and Alina at the altar on their wedding day. He said repeatedly, "No no no no no."
While he was still saying "no" in his sleep, a man crept into his tent with a knife. Suddenly someone shot and killed the intruder. Emilio woke up and saw that the gunman was Frank, who said, "It was him or you!"
With his usual acute insight, Emilio declared, "This man wanted to kill me." He warned Frank that they would encounter a lot of very angry people tomorrow.
In the morning he kissed Alina's heart-shaped necklace and said, "Don't abandon me. You are my strength for living."
Meanwhile, Granillo told Alina, "Last night Senor Lieutenant came looking for you," but added that he didn't trust Orlando. Alina insisted that Orlando had always been good to her.
Granillo said, "I don't believe anyone would want to help you for nothing," but Alina begged him to find Orlando and tell him she needed help. Granillo gave in and agreed, saying, "You are the queen."
At La Rinconada: Orlando told Thelma, her singing Aunt Rebeca, and Maximo that he'd looked everywhere for Alina but couldn't find her.
Maximo said, "It's impossible she could have evaporated like this. Why are you so interested in finding her, Lieutenant?" Orlando said, "Emilio left her in my care."
In the countryside somewhere: Emilio and his men examined a shantytown through binoculars. Emilio said, "How strange. There's no movement."
One of the soldiers said maybe the people had preferred to leave before being evicted. Frank said maybe the people were hiding, it could be a trap. Emilio ordered Frank to send some men into the town while they continued to watch through binoculars.
The soldiers didn't find anyone in the town, but Emilio spotted something inside one the shacks and decided to investigate personally. He went into the shack, calling, "Is someone here?"
A man grabbed him, put a gun to his neck, and said, "Tell the men to leave my lands!"
Outside, Frank and the other soldier heard a gunshot in the cabin Emilio had entered. They hurried into the shack, which was empty, then found Emilio outside with his captor, who had Emilio in a chokehold and the gun to his head.
The man told them to leave his lands, but Emilio said hoarsely, "Don't pay attention to him! That's an order! Carry out my orders. My life doesn't matter!"
One of the soldiers apologized and said they couldn't do that. They turned away as if to leave, but then unexpectedly Frank turned and shot Emilio's captor. Both men rolled down a hill. Frank ran to Emilio, who clutched his arm and groaned dramatically.
Elsewhere: Angel, at his doctor's office, suddenly said he felt afraid, that his brother was in danger. The doctor told him not to worry.
Back to Emilio, who told his men he had dislocated his shoulder. (Angel has a psychic flash about that? Not when Emilio was shot at the altar by Alvaro, but when he dislocated his shoulder? OK, whatever.)
In Sierra Escondida: Santos and Rosita strolled outside, discussing Maximo's threats, while Castulo lurked in the background with a gun. Castulo thought, "This time it isn't just a threat, Rosita. Your little boyfriend is going to die in front of your own eyes!" He aimed at Santos.
Fortunately for Santos, Castulo didn't shoot him right away, but let Santos and Rosita bicker long enough for Santos to say, "No, Rosita! Maximo must never find out that I am his son!"
Castulo lowered his gun, thinking, "The boss has to know that he sent me to kill his own son."
At La Rinconada: Vera, Jaime, and Ifigenio were surprised when Granillo appeared in the kitchen. Vera said, "What do you want here? This is a decent house."
Granillo said he was just looking for the lieutenant. Jaime said Orlando had left early on his horse. Granillo gave Vera a note for Orlando. As he left, he blew a kiss to Ifigenio, who looked disconcerted.
In Maximo's office: Maximo gave Thelma a letter, saying it was from Emilio, who wanted to know how Alina was. Thelma said, "Surely Flor will appear at any moment."
Maximo said, "You say that with a lot of certainty," and asked if she knew where Alina was. Thelma said no. Maximo said, "Please, Thelma. I know you. I know you're not a trustworthy woman."
Thelma said in her nasty way, "Why do you say that? Because of Castulo? I assure you, there's nothing between him and me." Maximo said, "Mmm hmm. You think I was born yesterday and I'm called Minimo, right?"
Castulo arrived outside the office in time to hear Maximo informing Thelma that he (Castulo) was nothing more than a criminal, "capable of killing his own blood," and Maximo didn't want his family to have anything to do with him. "And that includes you, Thelma!"
Angrily Castulo said to himself, "Well, boss, you're also going to kill your own blood," because he (Castulo) would kill Santos, Maximo's son, just as Maximo had ordered.
At Casa Loco: Alvaro sent for Sergio and asked what happened while he was gone. Sergio said Soledad had tried to escape but he'd prevented it. Alvaro praised him.
Sergio then said oh yeah, also that engineer, Elias, had wanted to help Soledad escape, but he had shot Elias and Luba was now curing him with herbs.
Alfonsina sauntered into the room and asked what was going on. Alvaro turned away and muttered, "That damn engineer keeps looking for my woman. Why does he want to rescue her?"
Alfonsina said that woman didn't matter to him anymore, but Alvaro snarled at her not to meddle in things that didn't concern her.
In the kitchen, Soledad told Adela that she saw the suffering in Mariana's face and didn't like seeing her like that. Luba arrived and assured Soledad that Elias was OK and Alina was being treated well at La Rinconada.
Unfortunately, Alvaro was standing in the kitchen doorway (spying on Soledad, no doubt), and overheard this. He told Luba, "The bastard is being treated very well. Thank you for this information," then ordered her to leave.
When Luba was gone, he told Soledad, "Right now I'm going to end your happiness." He said he was going to La Rinconada and she would come with him.
Soledad yelled, "Take pity on your daughter!" Alvaro yelled back, "She's not my daughter, damn it!" (They never get tired of this conversation, do they?)
Soledad screamed at Alvaro to stop all this, enough already! Alvaro gave her his usual guilty grimace, then repeated that she was going with him to La Rinconada. More back and forth screaming.
Alfonsina entered the room and Alvaro said she would come with him to La Rinconada, too. Alfonsina asked, "What for?"
Alvaro roared at her, red-faced and very scary, "What do you mean, what for, fool? (Como para que, sonsa?)" and knocked something off the counter with his whip, shouting, "To be with me by my side!" Ah, the glories of being Don Loco's woman.
Soledad told Alvaro she was disgusted by him and his woman. Alfonsina went to Don Loco's side and said, "I am happy with this man!"
If she thought that would get Don Loco's attention, she was sadly mistaken, because he and Soledad went right back to screaming at each other. He grabbed her arm and pushed her out of the kitchen, then growled at Alfonsina, "And you too!"
At Edelmira's club: Alina passed out from exhaustion and lack of food and dreamed that Emilio was with her. He said, "Our love is impossible." Alina said, "I know, but I can never forget you." Emilio kissed her, saying, "Goodbye forever," then left.
One of the jealous prostitutes came along and found Alina sprawled on the ground with a rat climbing on her leg. She commented that Alina couldn't take anymore so she passed out; well, she could stay there, with no one to help her.
She picked up the rat by the tail (ugh!) and held it over Alina, saying, "The rats... with the rats."
Orlando looked for Alina at the church. Father Cristobal said Alina wasn't there. Orlando didn't believe him and Cristobal said he wasn't a liar. As Orlando started to leave, Cristobal put out his hand and said, "Go with God." Orlando declined to take his hand. (As if we needed more proof that Orlando is evil!)
After he left, Father Cristobal prayed, "Lord, protect this child." (Maybe he could try giving the Lord a helping hand by notifying the authorities that Alina is being terrorized? But no, that's just crazy talk.)
At the military camp: Frank advised Emilio, whose arm was now in a sling, to go back to town and let his men continue the mission. Emilio refused. (I'm sorry, Emilio, at this point it's going to take a lot more than that to make me think you're heroic.) Frank warned that his attacker might have accomplices. Emilio said they would be prepared.
At Edelmira's: Alina hallucinated that Jose was standing over her, saying he was her father. Alina said no, he wasn't. Jose said, "You are a damn bastard!" Alina said, "My mother is innocent. I am Alina Montellano!"

La Fea Más Bella #252 4/12/07 The Bellyaching Continues
Tomas is on the phone with Aldo. Aldo tells Tomas that he’s going back to Acapulco. Tomas invites Aldo to stay with him and his mom. Aldo tells him thanks but no thanks. Tomas feels bad about the Lety situation. Aldo asks Tomas to take care of her, and says he paid off the Conceptos debt to free her, not to obilgarla (obligate her).
Lety asks the orthodontist is she can keep the braces; she likes to keep these kinds of mementos [I bet she still has all her baby teeth, a big childhood braid of hair, and her umbilical cord- ick!]. She notes that he has the same name as a good friend of hers… Aldo.
In Tomas’s office, Fern asks Tom for the low-down on Aldo and the debt. Tom takes another glance at the paperwork and advices that, yes, Aldo is virtually the owner of Conceptos. Fern tells Tom to call Aldo and ask him about his intentions. Tom says he will ask him as soon as he (Aldo) comes back from Acapulco. Fern wants him to find out now. Tom makes excuses, such as he doesn’t know where to find Aldo. Fern says Tom is smart, has many degrees, a great “look,” and cool haircut, so of course will be able to find Aldo. Fern walks out and Tom chases after him into the Vortex/lobby yelling that he refuses to go to Acapulco to find Aldo.
Alicia, who heard Tom’s whining, runs right over and calls him chiquito (which I don’t like Alicia using because it’s a term of endearment -- literally meaning “little one” -- which I call my 4-year old). Tom is taken aback to hear her call him chiquito. Alicia says she’d do anything to go to Acapulco. Tom falls for it and offers to take Alicia with him. Alicia begins to think aloud that it would be so nice to be alone with Aldo on the beach…. She realizes she’s saying this out loud in front of Tom and backtracks.
In his office, Fern talks to himself, trying to figure out what Aldo’s evil plan must be. He decides Omar could help him figure it out, but then argues with himself about whether he should call him. Finally convinces himself that Omar would not reject Fern’s call and he calls him. Omar tells Fern off and tells him not to bother him again before hanging up.
Fern opens the new diary and writes that he thought today would be wonderful, but it has turned into a disaster. He writes that he didn’t think he was capable of a sacrifice like this.
After hearing that Aldo paid off the Conceptos debt, his dad says it was a risky investment, but an investment nonetheless. Aldo says he had high hopes but they were shot down in an instant. Lety’s with Fern and he (Aldo) is left with nothing… NOTHING. Dad says he should let some time pass. Maybe this isn’t the love Aldo was waiting for. Aldo says he has nothing left to do but think about the future. That’s why he’s going back to Acapulco, and he’s never coming back [Oh Aldo, you big tease!].
The cuartel gossips as usual as Fern walks into the lobby to ask for Lety. They tell him she’s with Aldo. This news bugs Fern to no end. He scolds the cuartel and asks where Lety and Aldo are. PM smugly brings out a business card and tells him that here is the address for Aldo ROMERO, the orthodontist! Ha! Fern is relieved but also annoyed by their little joke.
Back in his office, Fern continues to argue with himself. He can’t believe he let Lety go. Then he reassures himself that he did the right thing. He thinks he’s going crazy and he needs to stop talking to himself. He decides that in order to feel less stupid, he needs to talk to someone more stupid then himself -- that’s Carvajal.
Alicia tells Marcia she’s going to Acapulco with Tom. She hits Marica up for travel expense money, since technically the trip is work-related. Marcia shoots her down. Tom comes in and Alicia whines to him about being broke. He offers to pay her expenses. He also tells her that she must get Marcia’s permission to go on the trip, since Marcia is her boss. Marcia grants Tom permission to take Alicia, and says he doesn’t even have to bring her back.
Omar’s phone rings and he exclaims “Fern, you are worse than a pebble in a shoe.” He answers and yells at Fern to leave him alone already. Caro answers that it’s her, not Fern. She is concerned because last time the two spoke he was very alterado (in an altered state-- that is, he was stinking mad!). She notes that now he sounds even worse. Omar invites her out for a date. Caro says she can’t because she has that show with Anais to attend; she just wanted to see how he was doing and make sure he hasn’t gone nutso.
On her way home, Lety runs into the neighborhood bullies, who pick on her as usual [which surprised me because the last time she ran into them she handled them like a champ and I didn’t think she would have to worry about them anymore… oh well]. They make fun of her retainer and say she looks like a horse. Lety retorts that, for their information, she has two men in love with her. They ask “Who-- Frankenstein and the Wolfman?” Robopop comes out of the house just in time to hear them call her fea and solterona (old maid). He reprimands the idiotas and they giggle about it.
Lety asks Robopop where mom is [she’s probably at Conceptos looking for Lety, since the last time they talked, Lety whined that she needed mom to please come to Conceptos right away]. Robopop asks Lety about the debt. She tells him Aldo bought it off. Robopop wonders why Aldo would do that. Lety just looks at him uncomfortably.
In Acapulco, Aldo stands outside the restaurant he sold yesterday. He says “Ay, Lety, I left my dream for you. I hope someday you will find happiness.” Some guy who must be the new owner comes out and greets Aldo. He invites him to the restaurant’s grand opening. Aldo thinks it would be too painful to be a guest at his ex-restaurant. The guy clarifies that he doesn’t want him as a guest, he actually wants Aldo to cook.
Robopop asks Lety where Aldo went. Lety whimpers that he didn’t say where he was going. Robopop asks how they will pay him back. She has no idea; they will have to wait to hear Aldo’s plan.
Fern goes to see Omar. Omar tells Fern to go away. Fern apologizes but Omar tells him he belongs in a psych ward. He tells him again and again to get out. Fern grabs on to Omar’s bar (he has a huge wooden, fully-stocked bar in the middle of his living room; probably where he practices his pick-up lines). Anyway, Fern refuses to leave and grabs on to the bar. Omar disparages him and Lety. Fern says he will not get mad today over the insults against Lety only because he knows he was wrong. Omar doesn’t accept Fern’s apology. He literally picks up Fern, who is still holding on to a bar stool, and throws him out the door.
Backstage at Anais’s event, she talks with her stylist about her wardrobe. He talks about the latest trends, which currently include 40s style dresses. He goes on and on about the 40s era styles [so much so that I actually thought it was going to be some sort of promotion or product tie-in]. He says he would love to find a new diva who he could dress in that super-hot retro-Mexico style. He wonders who could be his new diva.…Who?
Caro goes to visit Lety. Lety bellyaches about the two gorgeous men who are both vying for her affections… boo hoo…. Caro asks Lety who she really loves. Lety says she thought she only loved Fern, but losing Aldo made her feel horrible. Caro tells Lety to listen to her heart. Lety wishes she could go back being the old nobody that no one cared about… boo hoo…. Caro invites Lety to go with her to Anais’s show so that Lety can take her mind off her troubles. Lety protests but Caro says it’s an order from her ex-boss. Just then mom arrives.
Still in her dressing room, Anais practices her presentation in front of her staff. She says their going to talk about women who define glamour. Everyone chimes in with their ideas of style and glamour. It sounds like what Aldo would rant about if he were a fashionista. They think a glamorous woman should always look like she just stepped off the red carpet.
Caro comes backstage with Lety in tow. Lety furrows her brow and gives them her signature goofy “ho-o-o-ola.” They talk with Anais as the fashionista staff stares at Lety apprehensively. Caro suggests that maybe Anais’s staff could fix up Lety for the show. Anais thinks it’s a great idea. She introduces her stylist, her wardrobe coordinator, her hair stylist, etc... there are about 8 of them. The staff is not excited about Caro’s idea, and neither is Lety. They sit her down and then talk trash about her. They agree that it is an impossible mission
Fern sits in his apartment and looks at Lety’s picture on his laptop. He strokes her cheek.
We get the Lety-cam, so we see from her point of view as the fashionista staff poke and prod at her like a lab experiment. The main stylist with the 40s fetish, Manuel, gives them his discloser -- if she ends up uglier than before, he won’t be responsible.
Aldo is in the restaurant kitchen in his chef outfit. He speaks in prose about Lety and her flavor as he cooks. He invokes the love of Leticia to make his food yummy. What a wacko!
The fashionista staff continues to work on Lety. One comments that it must be feo to be so fea.
Fern is also behaving a little wacko-ish. He tells his picture of Lety that “to love you is to yell out how much I love you.” He jumps up and goes to a mirror and writes “LETY” on it with a marker. He draws a heart around her name.
The Lety-cam shakes as the fashionistas discuss how much they will need to pluck and shave -- “Everything!” one of them says.
Aldo kneads -- actually, he fondles -- a ball of dough as he thinks about Lety.
The fashionistas grab at Lety’s clothes. She giggles and says it tickles. The fashionisistas consider using anesthesia.
Fern prints a picture and tapes it to the mirror, saying this is where he will make Lety’s mural. He puts up a second copy of the picture next to the first.
Back to the Lety-cam. The accessories guy holds an emerald chandelier earring in front of Lety. He tells her she is not beautiful, but she should feel beautiful, because they did a great job. He tells the main fashionista, Manuel, that the earrings are very important, and that Manuel is responsible for returning them safely. Manuel puts the second earring on Lety and tells her to return the earring back to him immediately after the event [oh boy, sounds like a sure sign that something awful will happen to those earrings!].
Lety wants to see herself. The Lety-cam moves toward the mirror but Caro tells her there is no time, as the event about to start.
Speaking of mirrors, Fern has covered his mirror with many many copies of Lety’s pic. Then he takes out his camera and photographs the collage.
Anais is out with a big crowd of reporters on a red carpet. She says the show will be about what it’s like to be a mother, a wife, an employee… The reporters lose interest in her when they spot Lety. From the Lety-cam, we see them exclaim, “Wow, look at her, she’s gorgeous!” Lety asks “Are you talking about me?” She asks Caro why they are all looking at her. A reporter asks Lety if she is Czech, or maybe Russian. Lety begs Caro get her out of here.
In the restaurant, the new owner guy tells Aldo that his just-finished dish looks great. He asks for the recipe. Aldo says he doesn’t have a recipe, he just invented it. The owner guy asks if the new dish has a name yet. Aldo says it’s called Leticia.
Lety-cam. The reporters ask Lety who she is. She tells them she doesn’t intend to answer that. She tells Caro she needs to see herself. We move away from the Lety-cam and see the bottom of a green gown and strappy high heels. Then we see dark eyes dramatically made-up with eyeliner, sparkly eye shadow, and defined, auburn eyebrows.

* Zorro tells PT and the friars about SK and the plan to free her. PT and the friars vote by white balls - all agree to participate in the plan.
* Montero sits at his desk; Pizarro enters to say that Olmos is there to see him - Montero isn't interest in seeing Olmos - Pizarro tells Montero that right now he is meeting with Esmeralda. Montero is very curious to see him now.
* Olmos is meeting with Esmeralda - he gives her the news that the friars have agreed to help with their plan to free her mom. Esmeralda is happy.
* Alej sits, shirt off, on the side of the bed - Dena wakes up and sits up. She missed him last night - he tells her how beautiful she looks and then they kiss.
* In the kitchen, Dolores sees that Yumi is dressed in her native mexican dress and scolds her for it - Yumi refuses to conform to the dress code of the rest of the household. Dolores scolds her for trying to copy Regina.
* Diego talks with PT about Esmeralda and that he knows the baby is really his - Esmeralda told him so - PT is shocked - Diego tells him not to worry, she's back at home with Montero and no one will suspect anything. PT is worried about MP being with Fer - Diego is shocked - PT explains MP's rationale for being with Fer and what possible intentions Don Fer may have.
* Fer enters the room where Doctor and MP are carrying for Sor. laying in bed. Doctor tells MP that he will check on Sor. Carola and leaves. MP thanks Fer for letting the Sisters stay there - he is delighted that she has considered to give him another opportunity.
* Olmos tells Esmeralda about MA's sudden interest in her mother (SK) - Esmeralda wonders who told her; how she knows). They change the subject back to the plan to rescue her mom - Olmos says they will make their move after the Viceroy leaves town; and he knows the perfect place where she and her mom can hide.
* Montero meets with the Viceroy at the prison office. They discuss Zorro and Montero and his men's inability to catch the cunning desperado. Viceroy isn't convince Montero and his men are able to do the job duties. One of Viceroy's men enters with news about a mystery female prisoner. Viceroy laughs as he tells Montero, see there are no secrets around here with me - now he will learn who this mystery prisoner is when he finds her. Montero is silent.
* MP tells Fer that Dena told her not to marry him. Fer is aghast that his own sister would say that - Fer begs MP not to listen to his sister and continue to give him a chance to prove he has changed for the better; he asks MP to marry him. MP hesitates for a moment and then says Yes I will marry you. Fer is thrilled and starts to kiss him. She stops him and asks that she be the one to tell Dena. He agrees.
* SK and her cellmate discuss what she thinks Fer's reason for locking her in a mask and in the cell all these years. She can't wait to be free and reunite with her daughter. They hear loud noises from outside the cell block - they get scared of who could be outside making the noise.
* Fer and Dena argue over his intent to marry MP - she is totally against it - she thinks his intentions are dishonorable and he will drag her into his hell-hole of a life.
* Olmos and Esmeralda continue to discuss details of their rescue plan - about the friars involvement as well as Zorro/Diego's.
* MA lays in bed, still in her undies and robe. Diego finally enters with flowers. She wonders where he's been all this time - Diego comes up with the explanation that he needed to go away by himself and think. He realizes that she is his wife and he is ready to complete their marriage and make her the happiest wife on earth.

Gasca queries. Alfonsia claims she is only following his plans. Gasca/Hugo gives her some papers for her to get DL to sign. He tells her they are some papers to take a little bit of the lot Don Loco has away from him.
Castulo tries to buy Alinas love for the night at Edelmiras. Edelmira tells him to leave Alina alone, she has others for him to play with. The other working girls overhear Edelmira protecting Alina and become jealous. Hey Edelmira doesn’t stand up for us like that! Hey Edelmira why you do that! Edelmira claims she did it because Alina has class, they don’t. This comment adds a little more fuel to the fire of jealousy raging at Edelmiras Pit of Love.

One of the gross working girls uses a knife to pry open a drawer in Edelmiras bedroom. Another gross working girl comes in to scold her, saying Edelmira will claw up her face for stealing the money. First gross girl tells the other that she is going to put the money in Flors room so Edelmira will scratch Flors face not hers.
Creepy doctor tells Mariana that he is going to take her home to Malenas. That way she will be more comfortable so she can respond better to treatments. Marianas eyes bulge out as she follows him with those big eyes of hers.
Gross working girl plants the lana under Alinas pillow while she sleeps.

Back in Veracruz Don Loco wraps up business by joking around with Hugo. He tells him he has done a fine job with the administration on the farm, blah blah blah. Alfonsia saunters up and loads her bags in Don Locos BMW suv. (I thought that was a strange car for a rancher but …..) Alfonsia sends Hugo a wink as she loads up to go.
Coral chats with a friend about getting married to Celso. She will marry him next week and she will most likely stop dancing. A bouncer for the club tells Coral that someone is there to see her. Its Celsos nephew.

The bad gross working girls find Flor cleaning a floor and trample or her fresh cleaned floor.
The nephew wants to know if Coral will be marry his uncle for his lana. Coral gets tough with him and ends the conversation. He tells the air that she will get hurt for doing this…… Ugh! Please how much drama do we really need?
Angry sore loser Sergio yells at Adela that its her fault Luba's idiot son attacked him. He tells her that he is going back to finish the job of killing Elias. If they try and stop him then he will kill them too. Sergio throws an old snot rag at Adela as he tears out of the room.
Angel runs hard on a treadmill as he is being watched over by a doctor. He has wires connected to him and a heart rate monitor that reads 139/97. Looks like Angel needs some help. Angel tells the doctor that he doesn’t care how tiring the test are, he needs to get healthy so his girl will accept him. Her name is Alina!
Florlina pleads that the girls be friends with her…. If they only knew…. The girls care not for Flors statements. They threaten Flor who keeps answering back saying Cant we be friends! Flor looks silly trying to be friendly when these girls mean business, bad business with her. Flor steps up her character though when the mean girls start to make fun of Soledad. She yells at the girls. They can't talk to her about her MOTHER like that!
Edelmira comes tearing into the area where Alina is fighting with the gross working girls. Someone has stolen her money and they better give it back!
Thelma tells Singing Aunt that Orlando can keep looking for Alina. She doenst care. The aunt worries that Thelma is playing with fire. I think that worry has already peaked so is this aunt blind? Thelma doesn’t care about what the aunt is saying. She goes on to say how she hopes Alina is suffering at Edelmiras.
The gross mean girls all point their fingers at Alina and say its interesting that the money is missing when SHE arrived. We don’t steal. It must be her! Edelmira tells them all that the money better show up!
Santos comforts Rosita who is bedridden and depressed. She feels bad for the baby. The baby isn’t to blame for what has happened! She tells Santos that she is afraid, she didn’t fall, someone made her fall (threw her off the cliff - me avento).
Back in Puebla Emilio and Angel eat in a restaurant. Emilio tells Angel that he has to go away for a few days for a military mission. Angel says he will continue with his test and treatments. He wants to get better so he can help Alina. He wants to get her away from her father, make her happy and get her out of La Rinconada. Emilio sighs and looks away.
Granillo and Alina talk in her room about the missing money. Granillo spots the money under ALinas pillow. He tells her he knows she didn’t do it, she isn’t capable of stealing but what will Edelmira think?! To answer that question Edelmira enters the room, uninvited, and spots the money in Alinas hand. Edel calls Alina a dead fly.
Don Loco goes to Malenas apartment. Malena is impactada to see him. He tells her he is going to take Mariana with him. It's his duty. There are big eyes to be had by all except Don Loco.
Edel goes crazy on Florina. She tells Alina that she will have to pay for what she did. She will end up with her face torn. Edelmira tells Alina all these lovely things as she has her nasty hands with large large fingernails wrapped on Alina's chubby cheeks. Break to ad.
Edelmira lunges to scratch Flor but Granillo butts in. He tells Edel that Alina is telling the truth! He then steps up his words by telling Edel that she cant touch Flor because he has nails too! Tengo mis unitas!
Malena is shocked shocked shocked. She panics trying to come up with reasons on why Alvaro shouldn’t take Mariana with him. Loco claims that the creepy doctor is just an opportunist who wants to get his hands on Alvaros money. Besides they have a good doctor in Sierra Escondida.
Granillo tells Edelmira that they are even. He doesn’t owe her anything. In fact she will have to pay him what she owes him if he was to leave. Plus he wants Edelmira to return all the money she owes Flor! Dogs don’t eat Dogs he taunts. Edelmira doesn’t like what she is hearing. She tells him she doesn’t want to talk about any of that, but she saw Alina with her money, with her own eyes. It was her Edelmira exclaims!
Alvaro and Malena argue about where is best for Mariana. Alvaro wins. He pushes Mariana out the door in her little wheel chair. Mariana starts to squeak in protest. Her eyes roll everywhere in panic.
Edelmira screams some more before she leaves Alinas room. Man all this actress does is scream. I really don’t like her. Granillo tells Alina that the dog that barks doesn’t bite. He repeats how he won't let them hurt her. Flor is convinced the mean girls set her up. Really?
Santos confronts Max in his office. He tells Max that Rosita lost her baby. Max is happy to hear the good news. Kids are just a burden for their parents after all. Santos is shocked; he argues kids are a blessing. Max goes on about his theory of how kids are a burden by saying that if Santos had been his kid he would have killed him before he had caused him any trouble. Max tells Santos that his parents were lucky they died before they had to take care of him. Santos is impactado.
Emilio looks at the heart necklace again. Angel comes in again. They hug their goodbyes.
Flor is confronted by four working girls.
Santos tells Max that he will be punished sooner or later for all the bad that he has done. He warns Max to not come looking for Rosita anymore. Max gets mad and attacks Santos. He pins Santos to the desk as he tells him not to threaten him. He tells Santos that it wasn't he who raped Rosita. He knows who it was. Would Santos like to know?
Emilio tells his driver to wait while he goes into a church to pray.
Thelma tells her aunt that when Orlando no longer serves her she will get rid of him personally.
Max releases Santos telling him that he doesn’t care what Santos thinks about him. He has no reason to lie to him, with power and money and the authorities on his side why would he lie? Would Santos like to know who it was? The only reason why he would tell Santos is so the guy who did it wont get away with doing it again.
Emilio prays to God that he hasn’t forgotten Alina. He wants his brother to be happy with her.
Max tells Santos that on second thought he won't tell him who raped Rosita.
Alvaro talks to Mariana as he drives his SUV. Alfonsia sits in the front seat while Mariana sits in the back in the middle. Alvaro tells his sister that Alfonsia is now the new woman of the house. Mariana thinks to herself that what happened to Soledad?!
Luba pats Elias as Elias begs her to go see Alina. He wants Alina to know that she will be able to see her mother soon as he is better. He also wants Luba to find a fellow engineer (Nunez) to tell him why he hasn’t been to work. Luba tells Gaspar to stay and watch over Elias. She reminds Gaspar that he knows what to do if Sergio shows back up. She hands Gaspar a brown bottle.
All the working girls plus Edelmira are enjoying a feast. Alina walks up and flips a plate of food onto the face of the main bad girl. A silly word fight ensues with Edelmira commanding that she has issued a punishment to Flor. Her punishment is to not have food.
Frank warns Emilio for the umpteenth time that Orlando is not his friend. Emilio doesn’t want to hear the news.
The main bad girl gets uptight with Alina and pulls a knife out and holds it to Alina's throat. Edelmira breaks the fight up saying NO FOOD to Alina as she tells her to go away.
The Singing Aunt wants to know what will happen to the baby when it's born. Orlando walks in the room and interrupts the conversation as he wonders where could Alina be?!
Luba has Vera cornered in the kitchen as she tries to find Alina. Castulo walks in on the women. He tells Luba he knows where Alina is. He will tell her because she is the mother of Gaspar. Alina is at the Meson de Edelmira.
Emilio visits Coral at the Devils Cave. Emilio asks Coral to look over Flor if something happens to him as he heads off on a military mission. She tells him to be careful and she will help.
Soledad starts to move things around in the barn looking for a way out. She finds a bar and uses it to pry open the font doors.
Adela is shocked to see Alvaro arrive with Mariana in a wheelchair. Alvaro orders Mariana to be taken to a guest room, and for Adela to recognize Alfonsia as the woman of the house. Alvaro orders Sergio to bring Soledad to him so they can talk.
Creepy doctor goes to Malenas apartment with Flowers in hand. Malena fills him in on what happened.
Just as stupid Soledad breaks out of the barn Sergio walks up. He makes fun of her and orders her to her old room.
Max tells Castulo that he knows he did his job with Rosita. Now he has another job for him. Get rid of Santos. Take him out of this world.
Alfonsia thumbs through Soledad's clothes. Loco tells her to take anything she wants. Soledad arrives to see Alfonsia touching her stuff. Loco tells her that Alfonsia is the new woman of the house. Soledad laughs telling him look how far you’ve fallen. I don’t care if you have one girlfriend or a thousand. Loco, to test Soledad after her comment, pulls Alfonsia to him and sucks face with her. Soledad averts her eyes.
The ads for tomorrow show Soledad telling Mariana about THE LETTER. Marianas eyes are large.

Zorro Wednesday April 11, 2007: Where Everyone but the Bride Gets a Little Action.
In la casa de los de la Vega, Alejandro and Almudena are all sexily sprawled across their bed. We are led to believe that their wedding night fantasies are about to be fulfilled, but Al has other plans. Surprise, surprise he’s WORRIED (on his wedding night, he can’t even put it to rest, the worrying overtakes him---this man has got to have some serious ulcers---I wish now that I had been keeping track of how many times he says he's worried in this show. I could count each time as an ulcer and we'd have a running count of the state of Al's stomach lining). He tells Dena that he’s worried about Diego, he knows his son must be feeling terrible with Monty’s news. He wants to go look for him (sheesh, Diego is a big boy and capable of taking care of himself, now take care of your wife Al!!!). The newlyweds start their daily dose of rehash, let’s see they talked about Monty and Esme, Esme’s pregnancy, Esme and Diego, Diego marrying Mariangel….ummm I don’t think I left anything out. They start talking about love, but not in the way you’d expect newlyweds to talk. They discuss how love can be destructive if is develops in the wrong way. Ever the romantic, Al says that it can even destroy life. Dena suspects Al is talking about Fernando and Maria Pia (at least she didn’t think he was talking about their own love). The two rehash their respective siblings and their newly renewed relationship. They talk about Fernando’s wife being locked up in prison. Al doesn’t like it one iota. Guess what!!! He’s worried about Maria Pia. Dena says she’ll talk to Maria Pia. Al says that FS isn’t the man that MP thinks he is. Then Al asks if it is ok to go look for Diego. Since their conversation/rehash session was obviously a buzz kill, Dena says go ahead, she’ll be waiting for his return. Al leaves and finds Bernardo. He asks Bernie if he knows where Diego is, because he’s worried that Diego might have done something rash, like go after Monty.
Mr. Burns and Smithers (Monty and Pizarro) are talking about Tobi being accused by the Maestro of being Zorro. Monty says that there is no way that Tobi is Zorro, he’s just as likely as Diego was. Well, Smithers says, the Maestro said he was Zorro so we’ve got to go with that. Funny thing, Monty says, while you were arresting Tobi as Zorro, Zorro attacked my caravan and kidnapped my wife. So, Monty isn’t buying Tobi as Zorro and he tells Smithers that they have to get Zorro, for real this time. He’s sick of all of Zorro’s circus tricks and doing things right under their noses. Smithers suggests that they have the soldiers scour the countryside looking for Zorro’s hideout. Monty says that they’ve tried that and it is apparent that Zorro knows the area really well. They need to come up with a new plan. Monty wrinkles his little weasel nose and says that HE has to be the one to unmask Zorro and he’s thought of a way to trap him. Monty’s decided that since Zorro helps the poor, he’s going to use the poor as means to getting to Zorro.
Esme tells Diego that she wants him to come join her, but the first thing is to get her mother out of prison. She fills Diego in how the plan has developed with the gypsies. She fails to mention that Olmos is helping her, but she does tell Diego that they’ve got one of the soldiers in the prison on the take. Diego doesn’t like that idea, he says that you can’t trust Monty’s men. The two talk some about the logistics of busting Sara Kali out. Diego tells Esme to not do anything herself or have the gypsies do anything without him. (OK, my dog had a little problem during this portion of the show, so I know I missed some of what was said….I thought I heard Esme talk about Diego leaving town and with Zorro disappearing at the same time it might be suspicious, but it wasn’t clear to me….so if someone would gladly clear that up for me, muchas gracias.) Um, let’s see, Bernardo comes into the Bat Cave and tells Diego that papa is worried and looking for him. Bernie makes an exit and Diego mutters to Esme that pobre papa, it’s his wedding night. Esme reminds Diego that it is his too.
Opening credits…
Next day, the sun is rising. We are treated to Yumali in her native clothes riding horseback in the country side. She comes across Al, who is out riding around looking for Diego. Al warns Yumi that it is dangerous for her to be out riding alone, he's worried about her safety. He tells her to return to the house, she asks if she can accompany him in his search. What the hell, he says, why not.
Dolores finds Maria Pia sleeping someplace in the house other than her room. The women get in their daily dose of rehash as well. This time it’s all about Fernando and Maria Pia leaving the convent. Dolo says she’s glad to have MP at the house, but she wants to know why MP left the convent, was it for Fernando? MP says that she made a great mistake about Fernando. Dolo says that he is a demon and need she remind MP of all the terrible things he’s done, need she remind MP of little Diego’s cries for his mother after FS killed her. Don’t tell me you are in love with that murderer, Dolo adds. MP says that they were wrong, FS wasn’t the one responsible for killing Regina. Dolo says she doesn’t believe it because FS is a demon and besides what about the dagger we found on Regina’s body. Wasn’t it Fernando’s dagger? Dolo accuses MP’s heart of softening over the years, but the facts they had at the time are still true. “We were sure then, nothing has changed,” Dolo says. Maria Pia is convinced they were wrong, is there any other evidence other than the dagger?
Meanwhile, at the Sanchez home, Fernando is frantically tearing his office apart. He is looking for the maldita llave. Wee Willy Winky/Olmos comes in, obviously awaken from his slumber by all of Fernando’s racket. Fernando doesn’t laugh at Olmos’ jammies, probably because his mind is on other stuff. He wants to know if Olmos knew about the box with the hidden compartment (as if Olmos would admit it, dumb question Fernando). Of course Olmos doesn’t admit to it. Fernando says that someone stole something of value out of the box. Olmos asks what was it. Fernando is shocked by his curiosity, why are you asking? But then FS remembers that Olmos has always been the master of discretion, so he thinks no more about it.
Diego isn’t too happy about being reminded about Mangle. He tells Esme that he’ll never sleep with her. His plan is to play the bumbling idiot role around Mangle. Esme warns him to be careful, if Mangle wants him she’ll stop at nothing to make sure she gets what she wants.
Monty awakens to an empty bed, or so he thinks. He pulls down the covers and tucked into bed with him is a set of bones and a skull (I might add, very fake looking human remains). Monty jumps out of bed and demands his soldiers tell him who was in his room. No one, they answer, we were watching all night. This bothers Monty. One of the soldiers is inspecting the bed and comes across a note. It reads: “When you tell the Viceroy who killed his inspector, then I’ll let your wife free.” Monty is angry, yells at his men. When the soldiers exit, there is a large “Z” carved into the wood on the back of the door. Nice touch, Diego.
In the Bat Cave, Diego returns. He had left to look for Al and was out an hour, but couldn’t find him. He and Esme discuss the storm outside (apparently it’s started to rain, but it didn’t look cloudy in any of the recent scenes, minor detail, I’m sure). Guess what, there is a beautiful four post bed in the middle of the cave. Diego tells Esme that he’s tired and needs a place to rest. They kiss and head for the bed. They get it on.
Somewhere else, Yumi and Al seek refuge from the storm. Their clothes are soaked. Al is worried that Yumi will catch a chill and tells Yumi she needs to get warm, so he strips off his shirt and we are treated to the sight of his well defined pectoral muscles. Yumi is captivated by them as well, but I think she’ also a little bit afraid. Al finds a blanket and drapes it over her wet clothes. Not an effective way of keeping her warm (he removes his shirt, but her wet clothes can stay on, I’m not following the logic). He pulls Yumi close. I think he starts to feel guilty, so he talks about his wedding, the reception and how Dena’s at home waiting for him. Yumi asks if he loves her and Al says of course, he would only marry for love, that’s what marriage is for, well except for Diego, he got the bum’s rush---forced to marry Mangle. Yumi really isn’t too interested in the Diego rehash. Al ends it by saying that he loves Dena. Yumi says she’s a good woman and Al says yes, and I’ve promised to take care of her forever. Al immediately falls asleep (what is that condition where people just drop off to sleep like that---I swear Al must be suffering from that condition---now there's something that you can worry about Al) and Yumi whispers that she promises to take care of him.
Pizarro shows up at Catalina’s, looking for a little action and possibly some additional evidence that might incriminate Tobi. The two rehash the whole Tobi/ Maestro fiasco. Piza is making moves on Cat, but she’s worried that with Tobi being accused, her honor is at stake. Piza turns her around and starts undoing her dress, he tells her that Tobi has to be investigated and if they find nothing he’ll be set free. That seems to placate Cat and she and Piza go at it.
Dolores goes looking for Mangle. She finds her room empty---everyone’s gone missing, she mutters. Dolo comes across Juan, wearing a very stereotypical Mexican outfit, sombrero included. She asks if he’s seen Mangle. Yeah, she was riding off on horseback.
Out on the veranda, Dena is showing her wares. She’s dressed very inappropriately for a place where hacienda workers can see her, but if she’s not bothered by it, I shouldn’t be. Dena, who I think I’ll dub as the Queen of Rehash, has found someone new to talk to, it is Maria Pia. They rehash Al’s search for Diego and Esme’s news. Dena, la chismosa, tells MP that the baby is Diego’s, but that’s not what Dena wants to talk about. She gets MP on the subject of Fernando and MP’s leaving the convent. MP tells Dena that she made a mistake many years ago and she ended her relationship with Fernando because of it, but now she knows she was mistaken. Dena, like any good gossip, wants to know specifics, what was it that MP was mistaken about. MP tells her she cannot reveal what it was, but what is important is that she's given FS another chance. Dena asks if they’ve talked about marriage and tells MP don’t do it. MP is shocked, not the kind of talk you expect from a man’s sister. MP defends FS, she says he’s changed. Dena warns her not to believe everything Fernando says.
Fernando is still searching for the key. Olmos suggests that they should report the theft. FS doesn’t like this idea and asks Olmos to keep this all a secret. Olmos suggests that whatever it is that FS is looking for just might not be unpacked yet or could it have even been left back in Spain? Trying to appear to switch subjects, but really staying on the theme of the missing key, Fernando asks Olmos if he knows anything about cross locks. Olmos is a walking encyclopedia and provides lots of info. Fernando indicates that he’s interested in how the lock works w/o a key and then he realizes that perhaps he’s said too much to Olmos. Not one to stop, Olmos says that heat can be applied to the lock and it is possible to get it opened that way, it all depends on what kind of metal the lock is made out of. Fernando seems to entertain that idea for the flash of a second, but then realizing it would be rather difficult to apply heat to the lock, when a human head is what is being locked up. I’m sure he had a brief image of that paper mache mask bursting in flames ---it would burn up rather quickly, and faster than you could say Michael Jackson, Sara Kali’s (perfectly coifed) hair would catch on fire. So Fernando tells Olmos that using heat isn’t a possibility. Then he starts to wonder about the break-in. FS knows he packed the missing item and he knows for certain it was in this box's secret compartment. Whomever broke into his office had to know exactly what they were looking for because nothing else is missing. It also had to be someone who had complete access to all of Fernando’s things. Olmos senses that FS is looking at him as the prime suspect, and remembering that the best defense is a good offense, Olmos tells FS that if he (Fernando) cannot trust him, then he (Olmos) might as well pack up all of his things and head back to Spain. This comment works, Fernando says he knows that Olmos is loyal. Olmos leaves and Fernando mutters to himself, for the benefit of the audience, that if he cannot find the key he’ll lose everything.
Back in the storm refuge center, Al is dreaming of Regina. He wakes up with a start and sees Yumi. She says she doesn’t care who he thinks she is and she moves in for a kiss. That’s not quite enough for Yumi, she undoes her, can’t call it a shirt, her native outfit? Yeah I guess that’s good enough---ok well she strips down to nothing and throws herself at Al (yeah, I’m editorializing a bit there, but she was definitely the one making the moves, but Al was no victim). I believe Al called her Regina, but could be wrong about that.
Diego and Esme are in post united bliss, so they use this time to talk about Zorro some more. Diego says Zorro will complete his mission. One of them, can’t remember which one but suspect it was Diego, says that Montero will fall soon and then they will be together, all three of them-father, mother and baby.
Mangle goes to see Monty, she enters his office angry because his guards detained her. She demands to know where his wife is at. Monty wants to know why she is there. She tells him that he ruined her wedding night with his little bombshell at the reception. The two exchange words and Monty roughs her up. I thought they’d get romantic, because this is their usual foreplay routine, but not today. Mangle is on a mission and she’s royally pissed off at Monty. She tells him that she was going to provide him some info, but now she’s not. She storms out of the office muttering that she was going to tell him about Esme’s plot to get her mother, but forget it he can suffer the consequences. Meanwhile, she vows, she’ll make sure that there’s a stop put to Esme’s plan.
Dena talks with Dolo and asks for her help. La reina de chismosa tells Dolo all about her conversation with Maria Pia about Fernando. Dena says that they have to make sure that the two don’t get married, Fernando is not deserving of someone like Maria Pia. Dolo seems a bit shocked that Dena would talk about her own brother this way. Dena says that she’s sure that MP feels guilty about misjudging Fernando in the past, and if she were to marry him it would be because of this guilt.
Yumi and Al are still together. Yumi tells him that they both wanted this. Al answers that “What we want is not always the right thing to have, because we can hurt other people.” He adds, look what we’ve done and says it can’t happen again. He feels remorse because of what he’s done to Dena. Yumi insists what they had between them was beautiful. Al doesn’t deny it, but repeats that it can’t happen again. Here's another thing you can worry about, your wife, whom you've been married to for less than 24 hours, finding out that you slept with your indian God daughter.
Fernando meets with the VCR. They discuss what it is like for VCR to be living in the prison, not his typical kind of digs. VCR tells FS that he’s ordered the prison, every nook and cranny, to be thoroughly searched. He will find SK, because he knows that Monty is lying about her being there. VCR adds that he suspects that Fernando might know something about this, but FS insists that he is loyal to the crown. Well, the VCR adds, “once we find her, we’ll know who betrayed the crown.”
Nutty Nun is collecting alms for the poor. From the poor I might add---always a good source of charity to get it from those who need it. I know, let’s eliminate the middle man, and then Nutty would be out of a job. Out on the street, she gets bumped by a little boy. Nutty drops her coins. Maria Pia, in her fancy clothes, comes along and helps NN. Nutty looks jealous, I guess, at MP. MP tells her it is good to see her and Nutty replies that she can’t say the same. MP rehashes some and brings up that she should have believed Nutty when she said she heard Fernando’s voice in the convent. This revelation gets a reaction out of Nutty. She grabs at her head, I suspect that the voices she hears are having a pretty intense conversation in her mente. Next thing you know, Nutty is collapsing in the street and Maria Pia calls for some help.
Across town, the poor folk have been gathered and brought to Monty. One man pleads for mercy and Monty kicks him (what a great gentleman Monty isn’t). Monty addresses the crowd, he tells them that he has a message that needs to be given to Zorro. Bernardo is in the crowd listening to every word Monty says.
Back in the Bat Cave, Diego is entertaining Esme with his magic tricks. He makes flowers appear from nowhere and then he pulls out a little baby pair of moccasins. Now I say that’s quite a trick, I mean he found out about the pregnancy just at the beginning of the episode and he’s already got baby shoes to pull out of his hat for a magic trick---impressive. Bernardo arrives and puts an end to all of this fun stuff. He fills Diego in on Monty’s message: One entire family will be killed every hour that he has to wait for the return of his wife. The “Z” swishes across the screen and the music begins followed by the credits. END OF EPISODE Ulcer count=5

Destilando 4/11 - "Have you seen this girl?"
- Yesterday we left Rodrigo and his wife yelling. "I can't love any woman who isn't Gaviota!" "I'll never give you a divorce!"
After he stamps out she thought-bubbles: "Jimadora, you'll pay for my tears. Don't come back or you'll find out who you're dealing with."
He moves into the guest bedroom: "No more pretending!"
Isadora, in her luxurious bath, thought-bubbles: "I am the wife, that's my weapon." - Rod is rivalling Gabe (famous dolt of Mundo de Fieras) in the puzzled, stymied close-ups department. He also resorts frequently to a teeth-revealing snarl of frustration.
Rod used to be a student at Oxford or Cambridge or something, but every drop of blood has drained out of his brain towards the humid zones.
He has assembled a team of seven men, headed by James and historian-boozer Crispin, to go around all the fields in Mexico to find Gaviota.
(Isadora crashes the initial meeting, fruitlessly trying to prevent this project. "I hope you find her dead, that maldita whore!")
Problem is, Rod doesn't have a picture of Gav and, in fact, doesn't know her actual name or her mother's name either. "I just know her as Gaviota! She is Gaviota!" (Someone sagely remarks: "Hmm, that's gonna slow things down.")
Rod's IQ has plummeted to a barely measurable level. He gets out his magic marker and scribbles a picture of her and they show it around in various locations. Mute extras stand awkwardly and shake their heads, no, we haven't seen her. James points out they're seeking an aguja en un pajar (a needle in a haystack). - Meanwhile, of course, Gaviota and mom have gone to Mexico City, carrying their paddles. They do some sightseeing, pray to the Virgin to find them a place to live, and, after dragging their butts around for hours (this is no way to treat your ma who is recovering from typhoid fever), are befriended by a stranger who helps them find a room.
Clarita can't imagine what kind of work Gav will find, but Gav reminds her: "I learned a lot from the nun." She dresses up extremely nicely! She gets a newspaper and starts looking for work but everybody wants to see her papers, documents she doesn't have, and recommendations from previous jobs. They are not impressed that she speaks "English, French, and a little German."
Gav hocks or sells their agave paddles, which grieves Clarita ("so many memories"). Gav says they'll never work in the fields again. There are discussions of the way their lives are mirroring the telenovelas - the rich guy falling for the poor girl, the poor girl going to the city to get rich...
With the money they get from the paddles they buy - fabric for curtains? Questionable choice in my opinion, food might have been a better choice.
Luckily, in short order kindly neighbor Doña Jose says: "I'll take you to the hotel where I work," gives a personal recommendation, and Gav gets hired as receptionist over the objections of the personnel manager. (The hotel manager: "Where are we gonna find somebody as sexy as this?")
They window-shop at a wedding store and Gav thought-bubbles: "I'll never wear a wedding dress." - SanWanna is gossiping to Roman, Hilario and the mom about Rod's move into the guest bedroom. "Stop gossiping, stop meddling, and stop wearing the Missus's perfume." Roman warns Hilario: "I know you're going out with SanWanna, don't let it affect your work." The oversexed vixen, she grabs Hilario again! Is this subplot ever going to amount to anything?
- Aaron is kissing his secretary. She is wearing a spandex business suit, I didn't know you could buy those!
Phone rings, it's Minerva with the latest gossip about Rod.
Then Aaron fires the secretary. Then a guy named Videgaray does an 'as you know' with Aaron: "Aaron, as you know, you've fired four secretaries in a month." "None of them meet my standards of being intelligent, competent, able to divine my every intention, and incredibly attractive."
Then they discuss the fact that Isadora's father, owner of the textile business, is in terrible financial difficulty. Aaron figures this will be useful information.
Minerva and Aaron go to Granny's house (Sofia is there too) and thoroughly rat out Rodrigo. Granny is aghast: Rod loves a fieldworker who was also a whore in Europe, and he wants to divorce his wife? Never!
Aaron is deputized to call Rod and get him back to Mexico City on some business pretext. Granny says "if he divorces, it puts all our fortunes in jeopardy." (I don't know why.) They also discuss the Duarte's financial difficulties.
Later Granny thought-bubbles to her dead husband Amador: "Oh no, why this same cruel story again? I know that long ago a jimadora stole your affections, and now your grandson too!" - Isadora asks Hilario to get her a horse. He waves her past Rodrigo's horse, saying it's half wild, but while he's off getting her a more suitable one, she's up on the bronco and away.
Hilario gets his dad and they pursue in the truck. They see the horse galloping off and find Isadora on the ground with a picturesque little streak of blood on her forehead. They carry her home and get the doctor.
When the doctor is feeling her robust pulse, Isa's eyes snap open. She tells him she faked the whole thing and wants him, the doctor, to tell everybody she's seriously hurt. "But I'm an actual real doctor!" he splutters. She holds cash in front of his face and it clears his conscience. He tells everybody she's quite hurt and Rod is summoned home from his supremely stupid project.
Isa pirouettes in front of the mirror thinking: "My false accident will put you in my power!" Minerva and Aaron show up. Trophy Whore Barbie hops back into bed, assumes a sickly expression, and complains: "You guys deceived me, you told me I was the first woman in his life, but it wasn't true, there was Gaviota!" Aaron: "It took us all by surprise." They promise to help her. - We conclude with Gaviota pouring over a bunch of old books - "my treasures" - in the dark apartment. She plans to study accounting and business and eventually be a corporate executive. (Hey, I just recap, I didn't invent this stuff.)
Her mom asks for a song but Gav says, "No, singing reminds me of the mezcalaras and they remind me of Rodrigo and his betrayal. Part of my heart is dead and until that feeling passes I can't sing."
