Zorro Tues. April 17 - Esme's mother escapes from the prison but at what cost?
Montero parades Sgt. Garcia before all the other troops and tells him that he is being demoted in rank for insubordination, lack of discipline and cowardice. Garcia protests that the charge is unfair but Montero shuts him up – he shouldn’t have disobeyed Montero’s order to kill the filthy farmer family. Pizarro comes and reads a proclamation demoting Garcia from sergeant to ordinary soldier and rips off his epaulets. While this is going on, Garcia sees the gypsies climbing up on the roof of the prison. He tries to pass this information on to Montero and Pizarro but they tell him as an ordinary soldier, he has no right to speak and Garcia says the equivalent of ‘Whatever you say’.
Bernardo brings Zorro his weapons and Zorro says that he is going to raise hell at the prison.
Montero tells Garcia that if he disobeys orders one more time, he will be shot even if he is related to the controller of the army.
On the roof, Orange-shirt gypsy tells Renzo and Blue-bandanna gypsy that a soldier saw them and wonders why the soldier didn’t say anything. Renzo says that former Sgt. Garcia is a good guy and helped him when he was in prison and won’t betray them.
The Indians are apparently planning to burn Yumalai at the stake because she shacked up with a white guy instead of killing man-with-one-eye. Alejandro (who seems to have lost his shirt) protests but no one cares. Just as Adriel is about to stick a spear in Yumalai, a whole bunch of guys in big floppy sombreros coming running over the hill. These are the workers from the hacienda that Dolores sent to keep an eye on Alej since she had a bad feeling about the White Buffalo trip.
A melee ensues. The workers free Alej. Alej wrests the spear from Adriel. Adriel says to Alej that Yumalai must die for her betrayal even if Adriel dies with her. Alej channels Yoda and says, “Undignified is the warrior who fights with betrayal,” throws away the spear and he and Adriel start wrestling. Yumalai is still tied to the stake. [Did the Indians bring a stake with them? Did they find a tree with a straight 6 foot trunk, cut it down, sand it smooth and set it in the ground while Alej and Yumalai waited?]
Fernando and Maria Pia are in church smiling at each other while the priest drones on in Latin.
Alej and his boys defeat the Indians. Alej refuses to kill Adriel. Yumalai is freed from the stake and runs over and embraces Alej’s manly (and bare) chest.
It’s the first time in days we’ve seen how Nutty Nun is getting on. She is shivering like she has a fever while Father Tomas and the Cardinal look on. FT says that he has never seen NN so ill and the Cardinal says that maybe she is possessed by a demon. At this moment, NN sits up in bed, screams like a banshee and then falls back unconscious. Sister Carola decides NN is possessed and runs out of the room. The Cardinal suggests sending to the Vatican for an expert on exorcism. [On novela time, how long could that possibly take – a week, maybe?] PT, who has extremely modern ideas about mental illness, says that NN is not possessed. She came to the convent seeking God – not insanity. ‘Whatever,’ says the Cardinal, ‘but if she doesn’t get better, I’m not consecrating the internado into a convent. PT wishes Maria Pia were here and Camba is watching from the doorway.
Olmos is carrying an unconscious Mangle in her underwear around the hacienda. He ducks into an alcove to avoid Dolores.
Alej tells Adriel that he has ‘disturbed the peace of his tribe’ but White Buffalo will judge what he has done. [How can the actors say this stuff and not burst out laughing?] Yumalai also wants to tell WB and all her tribe what her heart is feeling.
Olmos deposits an unconscious Mangle someplace and says he will come back rich and be with her or he’ll be dead with his last thought being the sensation of touching her lips.
In spite of the fact that Zorro had better get a move on since the betrayed rescue attempt by the gypsies is already happening, he has hangs around in the grass until Esme wakes up. He convinces Esme to let Bernardo take her to a safe house that he knows. Esme offers the key to the paper mache mask to Diego but he tells her to keep it and open the mask herself when Zorro brings SK to her. Esme thanks Diego for all he as done for her and Diego tells that she and their son is the reason that he keeps on fighting. They kiss, the Gitana song comes on, they part ever so slowly. Come on, Zorro, time’s a wasting here!
Now Olmos has Mangle covered with a blanket in a carriage. Up comes Gerardo who tells him about Esme’s escape. Olmos is furious. Gerardo has screwed up the plan. The only hope is that the guards kill SK. Because of Gerardo’s failure, Olmos has to return something that is very precious to him and that he was on the point of getting (Mangle?).
A whole gang of gypsies are outside the prison waiting for the changing of the guard. [Some of the gypsies have halberds, a kind of pole weapon used by the Swiss army in the 15th century.] Renzo and his buddies have gotten in to the prison and have surprised Aquirre and and his buddy. Renzo demands that the guards take them to SK.
MP and FS are taking the their wedding vows.
Camba comes into NN’s room with a dish of burning coals and a bunch of leaves. He unties NN and chants something while waving the leaves over her.
The priest is about to declare MP and FS man and wife when Almudena staggers in and says that they cannot marry. FS and MP are impactados.
Bernardo brings Esme to the safe house and takes care of her wound. Bernardo tells her that they must stay there 2 or 3 nights but Esme says she needs to leave immediately. The prison is very dangerous.
Cut to Zorro standing on the roof of the prison. He takes out the guards to the approval of Garcia who is in a prison cell.
Renzo and his buddies get into SK’s cell. SK insists that Hermes escape with them. The gypsies lock Aguirre and his buddy up with the chains that formerly held SK and Hermes. Apparently, the gypsies were to come in shooting and that was the signal for the guards to kill SK but it didn’t go down like that. Aguirre and his buddy are concerned about what Montero will do when he finds that SK is gone and they are in her cell.
The gypsies outside are worried that something has gone wrong. Jonas reveals that he changed Olmos’ plan by having Renzo and his buddies sneak into the prison.
Olmos [who can apparently carry a half-naked unconscious woman anywhere in the town without anyone noticing] has now returned Mangle to her own bed. Olmos curses, then kisses Mangle and swears that someday she will be his and leaves her.
Camba’s chanting and leaf shaking causes NN to dream that she is running around in a long white dress while flower petals fall on her. She wakes up rational and thanks Camba for singing to her (he has a nice voice).
Almudena tells FS that he knows perfectly well why he can’t marry MP or anyone else. FS asks Almudena why she is wrecking his life. After a little back and forth between FS and Almudena with MP yelling for someone to tell her what is going on, Almudena tells MP that FS can’t marry her because he is already married. Esme’s mother, Mercedes, is still alive. MP is super impactada.
In the prison, Renzo, SK and Hermes are waiting for Honas and the rest of the gypsies to make a distraction so that they can escape from the prison. SK is worried. She has a premonition that all is not going to go well.
Orange-shirt gypsy runs into Zorro in the curiously empty corridors of the prison. Zorro tells the gypsy that original plan was a trap and that he and SK should escape by the secret door while Zorro takes care of the guards. At that moment, a guard discovers them.
Back in San Diego, MP begs FS to deny what Almudena has told her. FS doesn’t and MP runs from the church. FS tells Almudena that she has buried him alive.
Montero is chewing out the guards who were supposed to escort Esme but let her escape. He gives them an hour to find her or he will put them in front of a firing squad. When they are gone, he says that Esme had better not be with Diego or he will kill her and rip out her unborn child.
In the safe house, Esme recalls her initial meeting with the gypsies in Spain and the time she saw her mother in the prison. Then she prays to God to keep the gypsies from falling into the trap and to bring Diego back to her arms.
Back at the prison, Zorro is fighting about 10 guards single handed. SK and Hermes escape from the prison [SK is showing quite a rack in her prison outfit]. Some of the gypsies will take SK to safety while others will help Zorro. Zorro is fighting the guards when Pizarro comes into the courtyard and shoots him in the back. He falls. No puede ser! The gypsies look on horrified. The credits roll.

Accoralada #66 Monday 4/16/07 - Bruna's shocking revelation
Emilio's shelter: Marfil is wondering aloud if her hermanita has arrived at the asylum, when Bruna walks in and says that she must stop them from taking her sister there. Marfil gives Bruna a little shove, and then we're treated to a view of Marfil's sheer top that barely covers a serious push up bra. Marfil tells her she's nothing more than a servant, and Bruna lets her know that she is more, much more - she's her real mother! Cue synthesizer of doom.
At psycho mansion, Caramelo is spilling the beans to Fedora about Paco's marriage to Octavia. Fedora is impactada.
Back to the good stuff - Bruna is telling Marfil the truth: that she's their real mother, which is why she hated it when they fought as children, and when they grew to hate each other as adults. Marfil is starting to twitch. Bruna tells her that she worked for the Mondragon family, and Sra Mondragon couldn't have children. She got pregnant by the family's gardener, who left her when he found out she was expecting. The family agreed to raise the twins as their own, and Bruna would stay and help care for them. Pobre de Bruna, she looks like she's expecting a heartfelt moment when Marfil spins around and goes into chihuahua on crack mode - she's kicking and punching Bruna, who's saying "don't hit me! I'm your mother"
Caramelo is still telling Fedora that Octavia is Paco's wife. How could Paco marry this viper! After all of the pain that she's caused Fedora! Caramelo doesn't understand how her father fell for Octavia's lies. For the second time, Octavia has destroyed Fedora's life.
Return to the Marfil vs. Bruna, where Marfil is about to smother Bruna with a pillow when Larry and Yolanda enter the room in coordinating salmon colored outfits - they look like they're dressed to sing in a cabaret. Bruna tells them that she's Marfil's mother. Yolanda is impactada!
Ignacio's apartment: Camila opens the door to find Max the borracho. He's drunk again to forget about Diana. Nothing new here. Except that Sylvia's broken out the afro wig again, this time she's even added a few feathers for interest.
Bruna is telling Yolanda that she's Marfil's mother, and it's taking all of Larry's strength to hold back the fiera. Yoland is trying to get the story from Bruna, but Marfil's having none of it. She tells Bruna to get out - she'll never accept Bruna as her mother! Bruna leaves the apartment.
Back at Ignacio's, Sylvia is upset because she was getting ready to go to a party, which is why she's wearing such a fabulous wig. This is much more interesting conversation than Max's ramblings about his lost love.
Fedora tells Caramelo that she's lost Paco, lost him forever. Caramelo wants her to fight, but Fedora doesn't have the strength. She must dedicate herself to finding Diana, and if she doesnt' find her, she will dedicate herself to caring for Max Jr. and Gaby. God is punishing her for her revenge plans! Paco has just left her life, forever.
Paco's apartment: Octavia is still wearing the pleather halter top that we all love as she tells Paco that Caramelo has left, and she doesn't know where she went. Octavia really pulls the wool over Paco's eyes - she's got him convinced that she's prepared to support sweet little Caramelo. Paco leaves to see Pancho and Octavia tells herself that she has him eating from her hands.
We return to Ignacio's apartment, where Camila is telling Sylvia about her latest plan (because all of the other plans have worked out so well). She's sure that Diana will never come back, and she's the only one who will tell Max that Diana's baby is his, so he will be so grateful to her for telling him that he'll divorce Marfil and marry Camila! But she has no plans to raise the baby - heck, she didn't even keep her own baby.
Gaby goes to check on Fedora after learning that Paco has married Octavia. Fedora is beside herself because there's been no news about Diana. Gaby says that all they can do is wait.
Sylvia and Camila are still scheming, and Sylvia convinces Camila that they should contact the estrella cosmica to make sure that Diana never returns.
Lala's house: Paola tells Lala that she's going out, but not to visit her family. When Lala asks what she should tell Pancho when he wakes, she says to tell him to multiply by zero. She opens the door to find Paco on the other side, who says she must be Pancho's new wife, a woman is totally worthless. Cut to commercial.
El borracho wakes up and has no idea how he arrived at Ignacio's. He was out on job interviews, but nobody would give him an answer, they all said to wait and see. After that he felt like getting drunk. Camila is all sweetness and sunshine as she convinces him to stay so that she can prepare him some soup.
Paco continues to insult Paola - won't it be fun when he learns that she's his step daughter? Lala tells him to stop yelling at Paola, she didnt' know that he was married. Paco is not satisfied with that answer - why would she marry someone she doesn't know. Paola storms out while Paco yells for her to go. Pancho comes out to see what all of the screaming is about and is treated to a punch in the mouth from big daddy Paco.
At Paco's bar, Caramelo and Jorge are talking about the whole Fedora / Paco / Octavia love triangle, and Caramelo's mess of a marriage. She says that she doesn't want to think about what would happen if Paco came face to face with Pancho. Cue the string quartet of doom - Caramelo doesn't know that it's happening as she speaks!
Meanwhile, Pancho seems genuinely surprised at Paco's attack, and Lala is terrified. She want to explain, but Paco's not going for it. Pancho agrees, they should talk, he can explain. (I wish that Paco would calm down long enough to listen - I'd love to hear Pancho try to talk himself out of this one). Paco tells him that a man who has respect for women doesn't do what Pancho has done, and that if it wasn't for Lala, he would kill Pancho. He better stay away from Caramelo or else he'll end up in jail.
Back to Yolanda and Larry in the matching salmon outfits... they're discussing the shocking news that Bruna is Marfil''s real mother.
Return to Ignacio's love shack where Camila is feeding Max some Campbell's chicken noodle and convincing him that he should stay for a while. Max tries to muster a smile, and we're saved by the commercial break.
Paco returns home and Octavia wants to know why he slammed the door. The door? I just broke the face of Caramelo's shameless husband! Octavia is surprised to hear that Pancho didn't fight back, and Paco tells her that Pancho wouldn't lay a finger on him. Enter Caramelo, who asks him not to fight for her. Paco refuses to stay out of it. Step Mommie Dearest tells him not to get involved in Caramelo's life, and Caramelo lets her know that she needs to keep her fat mouth shut. After Caramelo leaves the room, Octavia says that maybe it's better if Caramelo leaves. Paco's not going for it - Caramelo nees him, and she's staying.
Jump to psycho mansion, where Diego is updating Lala on the Diana situation. He hangs up as Fedora enters the room. Diego says that he's heard about Paco - how long has Paco known Octavia? Fedora doesn't know, but Diana must be her top priority, she says as she pours herself a glass of something the color of red bull and grimaces as she throws it back.
Back at Paco's apartment, Octavia tells Caramelo that she should move out. Since she's so tight with Fedora, perhaps she can go live at the mansion. Caramelo resists, but Octavia tells her that Paco is so in love with her, so crazy about her, that he'll do whatever she asks of him. She will destroy Caramelo if she doesn't leave.
At Ignacio's, Camila is still working on Max. He says that she's right - he doesn't want to be around Marfil right now. He needs to get a job, and find Diana! But Camila loves him, but he can only think of Diana. I've watched this same scene 1,000 times - the only thing that changes are Max's ugly sweaters and Camila's trashy halter tops. Cut to commercial.
Paco is surprised to see that Caramelo is moving out. She promises that she's not going to live with Pancho, not because she doesn't want to, but because Paola lives there. But she can't stay with big daddy Paco anymore either. He asks if she's leaving because of Octavia, and she tells him that she is. She's sure that he's made the biggest mistake of his life by marrying her - how could he marry the woman who destroyed Gaviota? Enter Octavia, who looks like a kid on Christmas morning when she sees Caramelo's bags - she asks if their luggage has arrived from the beach. Paco tells her that the luggage belongs to Caramelo - she's moving out. Octavia puts on her best "no puede ser" face, too bad she can't actually move her face! Caramelo calls her a hypocrite and walks out. Octavia tries to console Paco by telling him that she's just upset about her Pancho, and she'll be back in a few days.
We're transported to Fedora's bedroom, where she's telling herself that they must find Diana, and oh, how she wishes that she had Paco by her side!
Broken record time - Max is telling Camila that he doesn't want to live if Diana doesn't return. Camila says she'll be there for him, she loves him. She wants to see him strong, happy, the Max of always! She scene ends with a sloppy kiss.
FINALLY - what we've all been waiting for, kids! The scene of the plane crash! The plane has crashed and is burning. All of the passengers are scattered on the ground around the plane, including Andres, who seems to have lost his shirt in the impact. Diana is still fully clothed and bleeding from the head. Credits roll.

Duelo—Monday—April 16—Ominous developments for nearly everybody: Orlando makes his move, the Chest changes hands.
----------------------------------------------------------------
We open with Don Loco bursting into Luba’s cave full of fury that she’s been taking care of Elias. Luba explains that “another guy came and took him this afternoon.” Don Loco whacks her across the face yelling at her because she let the guy take him. Luba feigns complete ignorance of the significance of this and Don Loco tells her that it’s no business of hers to know what the significance is. Poor Luba is bleeding from a cut near her mouth. Don Loco leaves in a huff. Luba gets THE CHEST from it’s resting place and vows that when Don Loco finds out what’s inside it, he’ll go even crazier than he is now. Luba watches him ride away from the mouth of the cave, then gives a sign for Adela to come back with Elias, who is hobbling along , wrapped in a blanket. “He’s not going to look for you here now” says Luba.
In Puebla, Emilio and Angel are back at their digs in the city. Emilio asks Angel how the test went. Angel says. “Great! Now I feel like I can marry Alina!” Emilio walks away. Angel asks him what’s wrong---Nada is the reply. Angel confronts him. “I know what’s wrong.” (Then why did you ask, dummy?) We zip back to Sierra Escondida and the Hacienda Montillano.
Soledad is having a typically one-sided conversation with poor quadriplegic, mute, Mariana. “Elias loves me,” says Soledad. “But not the way Alvaro thinks.” “Elias only loves me as a friend. And, anyway, that’s the only way that I can see him.” She walks away nervously as if she really doesn’t even believe that line herself. Soledad reflects that she misses Alvaro, his kisses, his caresses. “But he threw everything away.” “You can’t imagine how we have suffered, my daughter and I.” She then goes on to announce that she’s going to try to get Alvaro to punish only her and not Alina. “Someday, all of this will get cleared up.” Poor Mariana has been making little noises and crying but suddenly she is able to clench her hand, which distracts Soledad. Soledad, tells her “You’re going to get better!” “Have Faith!” Poor Mariana looks desperate.
Back in Puebla, Emilio and Angel are continuing their discussion. Emilio announces that he’s tired, that’s all. Angel thinks he’s sad, not tired. Emilio asks whether he thinks happiness exists. Angel points out that the problem is that he doesn’t love Thelma. “You’ve never been happy with her at your side.” Emilio sticks his chin out and reminds him that Thelma is carrying his baby. “And when the baby’s born, this baby that I want so much, I will love Thelma.” (Sounds more like he’s trying to convince himself).
In Mexico City, Dr. Love (I’ll call him Ricardo from now on since he seems to be a stand up guy. Maybe he’s just geeky, not creepy. Besides, I once dated a geeky guy named Ricardo so the name fits easily for me. ) comes to visit Malena for directions to Sierra Escondida. Malena says she can get him in the vicinity and then he will have to ask for directions. She begs him not to reveal that Mariana had a daughter. Ricardo says, don’t worry, I will protect her.
Back in SE, Edelmira is lecturing Floralina who has been resting in her room, from being worked to death on no food. “I hope you’ve had enough rest. I don’t maintain vagrants, says Edelmira. ” At that moment, Thelma comes in the room. “I’ve come to take Flor, she says. Edelmira asks why, “She’s been doing great here!” Thelma says that she has the authorization of Don Loco. At that name, Edelmira backs down and beats a hasty retreat. Thelma waits until Edelmira is gone and then sits down on the bed and acts like she wants to have a heart to heart with Floralina. Although she’s suspicious, Floralina sits down too. To her surprise, Thelma asks for forgiveness for “everything that I’ve done to you.”
Back in Puebla, Angel is coughing. Emilio shows up in his PJs and tells him that he wants him to get along with Thelma. “She took care of you when you were sick.” Angel undoubtedly is thinking of how she tried to kill him by scaring him into thinking that Emilio had murdered Alina. Or did he dream it when he was in a coma? We know the truth. Angel relents and says he only wants to see his brother happy. Cough Cough. Emilio says he wants the same for Angel.
Alina isn’t buying Thelma’s request for forgiveness. Thelma tells her that she’s prayed a lot. She has asked God to forgive her. “Oh, so you know God…” says Alina somewhat derisively. “Yes! Yes! Says Thelma with tears in her eyes. “I’ve prayed a lot and begged God for forgiveness!” “Orlando is the one who made me see how unjust I have been with you.” Floralina arches an eyebrow (Ludwicka is quite good at this). “The Lieutenant?” “Yes,” says Thelma. “Orlando made me see that I was wrong, and that I’d been corrupted by Emilio.” Floralina looks confused.
At Macario’s cave, Luba and Macario are having a consult. Macario apparently has given up on the spells. He hands Luba what looks like a jar of mud and tells her that Thelma (The woman with the white skin) should drink this; “it’ll kill her with fear.” Luba holds the jar and vows that she’ll get Thelma to drink it “to the last drop.”
Back to Floralina and Thelma. Thelma spins the story that it was Emilio who told her to treat her (Floralina) badly. “He didn’t even want to see you before he left.” “Yes! That’s right!” says Floralina. (OMG! Not again! Why is it that these two, Alina and Emilio are supposed to be so in love yet anybody, ANYBODY with the very LEAST credibility, with the most OBVIOUS ulterior motives tells them some lie about the other and they BUY it, hook line and sinker. You know what? They don’t DESERVE to be happy! Sorry, end of rant. ) Thelma goes in for the kill. “Tell me, what would you like me to do so that you believe me?” Thelma tells her she can come back to la Rinconada and she’ll be treated with respect. Floralina makes a face and says, no, she won’t go back there. But, if it makes Thelma feel better, she’ll forgive her. Thelma acts all grateful and promises that they will get along nicely and she’ll (Floralina will) feel happier from this day forward.
We get a “days later” caption and sure enough, Floralina is at la Rinconada, on a nice walk in the woods with Orlando and Thelma. Luba spies on them from the bushes. (We get a really cool, up-tempo Latin Jazz rendition of the theme song as background to this jump in time.) Over at Hacienda de Loco, time is passing too, with scenes of Sergio nervously guarding the place, while Alina sneaks past him to visit her Mama. Another scene shows Santos and Rosita going for a horseback ride, Castulo still stalking them, a few paces back. Back at la Rinconada, Thelma reads something from a magazine to Alina while Singing Aunt looks on from the staircase. Her expression is worried and perplexed. Finally, back to Luba in her cave, before her shrine of The Virgin of Peace, holding the bottle of green crap (that she dealt death to the cacique’s son with) and the jar of mud that Macario gave her for getting rid of Thelma. She holds up one, then the other, almost as if she is trying to decide which one to use and asking the Virgin to help her decide! Next we see Elias, who has made a full recovery, reuniting with his fellow engineers and workers on the highway construction. Santos and Orlando are also there and there are smiles all around. While the music is still playing we get an update on Emilio and Angel during this time. Yep, Emilio is STILL carrying around Floralina’s silver heart, gazing at it and looking sad. Angel is progressing with his treatment as his Doctor shows by presenting an x-ray to him and pointing out the areas that need improvement. Soledad has been working with Mariana, trying to get her to squeeze a ball. And in Puebla, Coral marries her sugar daddy, Don Celso while her friends from la Cueva look on happily and Dario, Don Celso’s nephew looks like he’d like to kill them both right now.
End music and end speed up in time.
Back at Hacienda de Loco, Soledad is helping Adela hang some sheets to dry. Soledad tells Adela that she thinks that Mariana is sadder every day and seems to have less will to live. Adela concurs that she feels so sorry for her. Adela also mentions about how she hates having Alfonsina there in the house, and how it’s such a lack of respect to Soledad. Soledad says she really doesn’t care about that. The only thing that she feels sorry about is that she and Alvaro would end up like this after so many years of being together. Right now, the only thing that she really cares about is her daughter. She’s desperate to get some news of her. She doesn’t even know where she is. Just then, Elias comes hopping by. IS HE NUTS? He just recovered from being shot for trying to rescue Soledad and now he just ambles into the hacienda? Oh well.
Don Loco is otherwise occupied with Dr. Zavala who has just seen Mariana. Don Loco asks if there is any hope of her getting better. Dr. Zavala says she needs physical therapy, which he can’t provide her with out here in SE. “The only thing I can do here is maintain her in her current state.” Just then Sergio rushes in yelling and chasing… Ricardo! Ricardo is wearing the same outfit we saw him wearing in Mexico City even though it has been “days later.” Yes, he is even still wearing his bow tie, which must look even more out of place, here in the countryside. Gotta hand it to the guy. It probably takes some balls to wear a bow tie here in Machoville. Also now we know how gutsy Sergio is if he can’t even stop a geek like Ricardo at the door. DL says, “What is this man doing here?!” Ricardo says that he’s come to take Mariana back to Mexico City.
Over in Puebla, Emilio and Angel are in the waiting room of Angel’s doctor. Angel tells Emilio to wait outside for once, while Angel consults with his doctor privately. Emilio wants to come in, but Angel tells him he’ll fill him in on what the doctor said. Why does this pretty much telegraph that we are about to get bad news? And yes, it is bad. Although they’ve figured out what virus has been attacking Angel’s lungs. “It’s too late.” Says the doctor. His lung capacity has already been diminished by 30% and the damage that’s been done is irreversible. “How long do I have?” asks Angel. “6 months to a year” says the doctor. “Six months!” repeats Angel, impactado.
Alina is helping Rosita make a bed somewhere in La Rinconada. Alina is recounting how Thelma has really changed, thanks to Orlando’s efforts. Rosita inquires if Orlando is in love with her. “Oh, no, says Alina. Awhile ago he asked me to marry him but that’s over. Now we are just good friends.” (Oh yeah, right.) Rosita looks thoughtful. “When does Emilio get back?” Alina’s look darkens. “I don’t know, but when he does, I am going to have to leave.” “Leave?! Says Rosita. “where?” Alina says she’s going to ask Orlando to help her escape with her Mother far away. “So far that we’ll be out of the reach of Alvaro Montellano. “ Rosita looks worried. Thelma is bursting into her bedroom suite elsewhere in La Rinconda, followed by Orlando.
Thelma has had enough of this being nice to Flor. She’s done. She tells Orlando that he’d better get into Flor’s pants by this afternoon or she’s done. Orlando looks annoyed. Maybe he was planning on taking a bath instead.Orlando tells Thelma, no way, it’s too soon. Thelma is enraged. She hates telling Flor she’s her friend, that she looks nice, etc. Orlando says, “but she is so young, so pretty!” which just enrages Thelma more. Orlando further needles Thelma by telling her that all this anger is going to hurt the baby and he reaches out to touch her belly. Thelma slaps his hand away and tells him not to touch her. At that moment, Flor is knocking on the door. Thelma grimaces and says, “It’s her! She comes every afternoon to talk to me!” Thelma begs Orlando to put her off somehow, she’s had it with pretending!” Orlando tells her he’s going to let her in and that she’d better put her smiley face on.
Back to the confrontation over at Hacienda de Loco between Ricardo, DL and Sergio. DL gives Ricardo the “You don’t know who I am” speech, trying to get him to understand that he’s the law in these here parts. Ricardo, being from the city, doesn’t quite catch on and says that he can’t believe that DL is a killer. DL laughs at him and says he’s in for a surprise. Sergio smiles evilly and cocks his shotgun. Ricardo’s face hardens as if it’s starting to sink in that DL is in fact, Loco. Maybe he’s silently diagnosing him with celotipia. There are no thought bubbles so we’ll just have to guess what he’s thinking.
Speaking of Doctors, back in Puebla, Angel is still in conference with his lung specialist. Angel decides on the spot (between coughs) that the best course of action is that he go ahead and marry Alina. Then she can inherit his money and have a comfortable life for herself. He knows that Emilio will be opposed to this plan so he asks his doctor to keep his condition confidential. “Don’t tell him I’m going to die.” Emilio is outside pacing in the waiting room, with a glass of water in his hand. Emilio thought bubbles a recap of his feelings about this whole picture. He muses that Angel is probably finding out that he’s making a full recovery and that he can go back to SE and ask for Alina’s hand in marriage. Then, “I’ve got to go back to SE too, and try to be happy with Thelma.”
Over at La Rinconada, Flor is now sitting with Thelma and Orlando in Thelma’s room. Thelma is claiming that she isn’t feeling so hot. Flor asks her if she wants her to call Dr. Zavala. Thelma says no, that, all she needs is a rest. “Why don’t you go for a walk with Orlando?” Orlando nods and Flor agrees and goes to change. Thelma takes Orlando aside and tells him that she’s just handed him Flor on a silver platter so he’d better make the most of it. Soledad is with Elias while Adela goes to look out for Alvaro. Soledad tells him he shouldn’t have come. “If Alvaro knew you were here…” Elias tells her that he had gone many weeks without seeing her and that he could have died without seeing her again. While he is telling her this, he takes something small and presses it into the dirt of a nearby potted plant. Soledad doesn’t see this; she’s protesting that he shouldn’t talk this way. Elias tells he loves her. Regardless of what she feels, that is what he feels in his heart. He goes to kiss her.
Elsewhere in Hacienda de Loco, Ricardo is also professing his love for Mariana. He tells DL that he has to bring Mariana back to Mexico City so that she can continue her rehabilitation. DL brushes him off saying that it’s nearly impossible that she will ever be able to move again. Dr. Zavala interposes himself at this point. He tells DL that he thinks that even if the chance is small that she will recover all her abilities, Mariana has a right to physical therapy and rehabilitation. “At least give her the chance to see a specialist” he concludes. DL says yeah, well, this guy (Ricardo) has another specialty. Ricardo admits that he’s an oncologist but ever since Mariana became ill, he’s been studying rehabilitation. DL then makes the charge that for all he knows, Ricardo might be responsible for Mariana’s condition, since he knows that she got this way by trying to commit suicide. (I had no idea he was so well informed, apart from not knowing about Marianita!) This accusation has Ricardo recalling Malena’s words, that he must not, under any circumstances, reveal that Mariana had had a daughter.
Soledad is rebuffing Elias in the other part of Hacienda de Loco. Elias smiles and says that he understands that she’s been hurt and that the last thing she wants is for some other guy to speak to her of love. Soledad interrupts him and warns him that he’s GOT TO GO, that it is VERY DANGEROUS for him to be there. It’s not just that he’s a guy hanging around Soledad, Alvaro already THINKS that they are lovers and is out for his hide. There is impactado music but I can’t believe Elias would be surprised by this.
In Puebla, Angel and his doctor are wrapping up their discussion. The Doctor proposes that there is an experimental treatment he’d like Angel to try. Even if it does nothing to lengthen his life, it should improve the quality of his life in the time remaining. Angel agrees and the new therapy will start tomorrow. Then he can return to Sierra Escondida.Back to Soledad and Elias. Elias is saying that he knows that Soledad can’t return his love. But he’s not afraid of dying either. He loves her and begs her to let him try to help her. Soledad paces around nervously. She tells him that she will continue to be his friend but she doesn’t want anything to happen to him and he must leave RIGHT NOW. Elias says he will do anything to set her free. At this moment “I am capable even of KILLING him. Soledad is impactada.
DL is still busy trying to kick Ricardo out. He’s hit on this idea that Ricardo is to blame for Mariana’s suicide attempt. Ricardo argues that he’s only trying to help Mariana get better. Sergio interjects asking DL if he should throw Ricardo out. DL agrees. “And make sure he doesn’t get back in.” As he goes, Dr. Zavala tries to argue with DL that Mariana really needs therapy and that this guy could help her. DL argues that Ricardo is a con man, who only wants her money and a piece of the hacienda. Ricardo overhears and comes back shouting. He says that he met Mariana “in a tough situation” before he knew anything else about her and whether she had any money. He loves her and he wants to to be with her, regardless. Don Loco has Sergio chase him out. Dr. Zavala shakes his head.
At La Rinconada, Flor is waiting for Orlando, with Tonqui. She’s dressed for a walk, in Jeans a blouse and sweater. She wonders what’s keeping Orlando. She tells Tonqui that she’s still afraid that “her Father or one of his people will show up and say that she’s not being mistreated enough .”
Soledad is still trying to get Elias to beat it. She tells him that she has no wish for his death. Alvaro is crazy and Elias, no matter how much he wants her to be free will not be able to fight a crazy person and win. Elias apologizes that he got carried away. Soledad makes him promise that he will not try to kill DL. Not only is it dangerous but even if he succeeded, Soledad is worried about Elias winding up in Jail let alone having to carry a murder on his conscience. Soledad tells him to just let sleeping dogs lie. She’s only concerned for her daughter anyway. Elias tells her that Alina is back at la Rinconda but that the servants there are under orders not to let anyone visit her.
Adela is outside looking out for Don Loco when who should happen by but Alfonsina, wearing yet another tight fitting dress, this time in flame orange. Adela stops her and asks where she is going. Alfonsina takes offense and tells Adela that she’s “the Patron’s woman” and as such, doesn’t have to ask permission from anybody to go anywhere. Adela counters that she’s not his “woman” she’s his mistress (querida) and thus deserves no respect. Alfonsina complains that she’s going to tell Don Alvaro that Adela’s been disrespecting her. She continues on her way.
Meanwhile, at La Rinconada, Orlando and Thelma have been arguing. Orlando isn’t really interested in raping Flor. He wants to seduce her. For that reason, he went along with Thelma’s plan to bring her back to La Rinconada from Edelmira’s. He wanted her to feel happy, safe and protected, so that then he could make a better case. Thelma throws cold water on this idea. She tells him (insulting him, really) that there’s no way that Flor would fall in love with him, even if he were a superhero. Orlando argues that what he wants is for Flor to love him the way she loves Emilio. Thelma tells him that he’d better give up on that idea and just take her already. He can’t compete with Emilio in the womanizer department. Orlando leaves miffed, telling her that “You are nobody to be telling me what to do.” Thelma gets a pouty look and says “Stupid! I’m surrounded by stupid people!” As if to confirm her pronouncement, Orlando shuts the door on leaving and it bounces open. What is it with cheap doors on Telenovelas?
Over at Hacienda de Loco, Alfonsina is spying around the sheets and overhears Soledad talking. She’s now wearing the same dress as in the commercial break where she gets drenched, holding a machete so we can only hope that that is coming up soon. Alfonsina tears down the sheet and confronts Soledad who is talking to…Nora. Elias must have taken off already! She rudely interrupts their conversation and Soledad tells her to mind her own business. Alfonsina jeers that she can go where she likes while Soledad is a prisoner in her own house. Soledad walks away and Alfonsina shrugs her shoulders to Nora.
In Puebla, Coral is by Don Celso’s bedside. He’s not doing so hot. Coral asks him if there’s anything she can do. He tells her to stop calling him Don Celso, since they are husband and wife. Coral says she’d like to see him get better. Celso says there’s no getting around the fact that he’s dying. He’s in the final stages of his illness. Coral cries.
Back at Hacienda de Loco, DL is upbraiding Sergio for letting Ricardo in. Sergio points out that Ricardo arrived with the Police. (I guess we didn’t see this). DL is not impressed. He says that he’s the real authority here, not even the beggars obey the police. He asked Sergio if he noted who they were. He’ll tell Maximo tomorrow to make sure they get fired. Sergio promises that this won’t happen again. “It better not, says DL.” “Eventually, I’ll make sure that Doctor pays.” First, I have to make sure that Mariana forgets him forever. “ As for Elias, “I have to make sure that he was the guy who tried to help Soledad. “ Sergio is confused. DL tells him that it’s not his fight (No es contigo el pleito). He asks Sergio to ready a horse for him, he’s going out. Sergio asks if he wants him to accompany him. Don Loco says no, he’s going to see the witch. He speaks aloud to himself that he’s got to find out who this guy is who (va presumiendo) is close to Soledad. [Note: I am unfamiliar with this usage of presumir, if someone can shed some light on this, I’d be much obliged. Also, I am uncertain as to why Don Loco is confused since he knows that Elias and Soledad have been close for years. Unless he is thinking that there is another guy involved with the plot to kill him in the Canefield.]Angel and Emilio are toasting Angel’s “good news” (since he lied about his meeting with the doctor). Angel reiterates that he’s going to ask Alina to marry him as soon as he gets back to SE. Emilio agrees.
Orlando and Alina are riding on horseback through the sierra. Orlando asks her to ask him anything. Alina asks him to help her find a way to visit her mother tonight. When Orlando actually accepts, Alina smiles broadly and says “Oh you’re so good to me.” Orlando squirms in his saddle. In the cave, Gaspar is looking at the jar of Macario’s evil mud destined for Thelma. He opens it, sniffs it and pulls back disgusted by the smell. He shows it to Luba who is shocked that he found it and got into it.
Back in Puebla again, Emilio comes in with two letters from Sierra Escondida. One is a letter from Alina to Angel. Emilio hands it over with a dark look on his face. Angel gives a little smile.Luba is upbraids Gaspar for getting into her bag o’tricks and messing with the potion. She gets so angry that after she leaves, Gaspar is suspicious and decides to try to find out what the mystery flask contains.
Back in Puebla, Coral is making Celso more comfortable in bed by tucking him in. As she turns to leave the room, Dario with the same homicidal look on his face comes into the room unbidden. “Is he dead yet?” He asks in a conversational voice. Coral shushes him and tells him that his uncle is asleep. Dario makes another threat about getting back from her what belonged to him (his inheritance). Coral is disgusted and leaves. Dario looks over at his sleeping Uncle Celso.Don
Loco has arrived at Luba’s cave. Nobody’s there. As he’s about to leave he spies THE CHEST hanging on the wall. He picks it up recalling in an orange flashback that Luba once told him that it contained secrets pertaining to him. He shakes the chest and muses that it may contain something valuable. Don Loco says “I don’t like it when people keep secrets.” He walks out of the cave holding THE CHEST, unopened.
Luba is heading over to La Rinconada. She tries to persuade Vera to let her add the evil mud to Thelma’s evening meal. Vera says no and chases her off. Gaspar is following Luba to try to figure out what she is up to with the mysterious jar of smelly mud.
Braulio is fixing his hat in his cabin when Santos and Rosita come bursting in. Santos announces that they will be getting married shortly. Tonight, he’ll drive into San Mateo and inform his mom. Rosita looks worried. She has a right to be opposed to trips taken at night in Sierra Escondida. Santos says, it’ll be no big deal. He’ll take the new highway and the trip will go much faster. He’ll be back in no time!In Don Max’s office at La Rinconada,
Don Max is yelling at Castulo. He wants to know why Castulo hasn’t whacked Santos yet. Castulo complains that Santos is always with Rosita and he doesn’t want to run the risk of killing both of them. Don Max tells him that he’d better make sure to kill him this week, or else!
Emilio and Angel are looking over their letters from SE. Emilio reads his, from Thelma, first. In it, Thelma paints a rosy picture about how she has taken good care of Alina and how they are now good friends. Emilio tells Angel that this proves that Thelma has changed. Angel is doubtful so Emilio urges him to read his letter from Alina. He reads from Alina that things are just peachy, Thelma’s been great, Orlando’s been so nice. (At the mention of Orlando’s attentions Emilio crunches up Thelma’s letter in his hand. Apparently Frank’s words must have sunk in).
Meanwhile, Alina and Orlando are still out riding in the Sierra. Orlando points out the beautiful landscape while Alina remembers Emilio asking her to marry him on the banks of the river. When he asks her what she’s thinking about, she lies and says she’s still worried about her mother. Orlando repeats his promise to help her see her mother tonight. “And by the way, where’s Tonqui?” Orlando is getting impatient and decides to make his move. He tells her he wants to be more than friends and that he wants to marry her, to protect her, etc. She looks away and is obviously not pleased with the turn of the conversation. In the next episode we see Orlando locking himself in a room with the unsuspecting Flor. Not good, not good at all.

Zorro Monday April 16, 2007 : Where everyone but Alejandro is worried!!
Zorro is riding around town like a mad man. He shows up at the Sanchez home and breaks into Mariangel’s room. He snoops and finds her perfume bottles on her dresser. He starts to sniff the different scents. He opens her trinket box and finds a little clay jar and sniffs the contents. He is familiar with this scent and now he knows that Mangle did something to him w/ this potion. Diego/Zorro mutters that he can’t tell Fernando that his daughter was up to some monkey business, but he is definitely going to make sure that Mangle pays dearly for this deed.
Meanwhile, back at the de la Vega residence, Mangle esta cruda. She’s drinking water to help get hydrated (one of the best hangover cures in my personal experience, but it doesn’t work for everyone---today in yoga my yogi suggested that a headstand is also a great hangover cure, I don’t think I’ll be trying that one), anyway she mutters how she knows that Diego got her drunk on purpose so he wouldn’t have to spend the night with her. She vows that he’s going to pay for this and then she vomits ( I was going to use some more colorful euphamisms for this and then just decided to get straight to the point).
Bernardo is waiting outside the Sanchez home and seems anxious for Zorro to appear. Bernie wanders around and sees Olmos pressuring Esme into getting into the carriage. He is far away, but has a good line of sight on her lips and is able to get a clear reading of what she’s saying. At this point in the Esme/Olmos conversation they are discussing whether Diego should be notified of what is going on….Esme says yes, Olmos says no. Finally Olmos is able to get Esme into the carriage and he hops in right next to her. Bernie has a worried look on his face, I’ll count that as ulcer-1. While this is going on, Bernie misses Zorro’s exit from the Sanchez home.
The carriage takes off and once they’ve cleared the area, Olmos announces that they’ve reached his stop. He’s going off to gather the gypsies, but he wants Esme to remain with Gerardo. She doesn’t like this idea, but Olmos says not to worry (can I count this as an ulcer? We don’t know if Esme is actually worried or if Olmos just assumes she is). Olmos says to trust him, oh and by the way Esme do whatever Gerardo tells you to do (this is sounding worse by the minute, I think I’m worried…….gotta think Esme is too, so this will be ulcer-2).
Zorro goes riding out in the countryside and some music plays. I’m not quite sure what he’s doing, but at one moment I thought I saw an airplane in the sky, but realized it was just a sheaf of wheat.
In San Diego, Maria Pia and Fernando are getting ready to get married. They are excited that they’ll be starting a new life and Fernando says that he won’t allow anyone or anything from stopping he and MP being together (obviously the masked wife kept in the local prison is no obstacle to him). FS tells her that she’s his everything, his happiness. MP apologizes for thinking that FS was responsible for Regina-Purina’s death and for taking so many years away from them being together. FS says it doesn’t matter, all that matters is right now. They two exchange some more words of love and their theme song begins.
Almudena is still hot on their trail, but hits a bump in the road figuratively and literally--this causes something to go wrong with her carriage wheel. It needs to be fixed right away, she’s worried (ulcer-3) that she’s going to lose FS and MP’s trail. Her driver says it looks like they are on the road to San Diego. Dena remembers that is one of Maria Pia’s favorite towns (I’m guessing it must have been pretty slim pickins back in those days, so it’s not like she had a big list of towns to chose from). Dena urges her driver to hurry up and fix the wheel.
FS and MP are kissing and the bells start ringing. They are their wedding bells. MP starts to rehash a bit about their turbulent past, how she sought the Lord because it was the only thing that could fill the emptiness of Fernando not being in her life. She tells FS that she’s now the happiest woman in the world. They kiss some more and if Fernando would have his way they’d be working on the wedding night before the actual wedding. Maria Pia shows some restraint and suggests she get ready for the wedding, by getting dressed in the gown that Fernando got for her. He tells her that he’ll be waiting and he leaves the room.
Dena hears the bells and the driver says that it is just the wind. He goes on to say that this wheel problem is more than he can handle. He’s going to need some help. Dena offers her dos manos for help.
Ariel, the indian guy who came to find Yumali, urges Yumi to go with them to see her grandmother who is dying. Alejandro says he’ll go with, that he and White Buffalo (ok, were buffalo prevalent in colonial Los Angeles, somehow I just think of them being a Plains Indians kinda thing). Ariel says no to Al, but Al will have none of that. He says that he and WB smoked the misma pipa, so he’s going along too. He tells Dolores to let Dena know that he took off with Yumi and her peeps.
Esme is now out for a Sunday drive and she doesn’t like it one bit. She wants to know what is going on and Gerardo isn’t really forthcoming. They get out of the carriage and G tells Esme that they are heading to a hidden shelter, a place where they can take SK once she’s free. Esme is suspicious she wants to know why G is helping her. He tells her that Olmos will explain later, this doesn’t convince Esme so she presses for more info. G shows her a little bag and tells her that it contains the only key to unlocking SK’s paper mache mask.
Outside the backdoor of the prison, Olmos meets with Auggie. He offers Auggie some pearls for the job he’s about to do and he wants to know if Auggie got some other guard in on their plan. Auggie says that Manny (didn’t get his full name) is afraid of Pizarro and is afraid if he helps he’ll end up in the torture chamber. Olmos and Auggie start talking about what is going to go down at the prison. Olmos says the gypsies will attack and once the shots are fired there will be chaos and Auggie should act then. So the shots will be his sign to do the deed. They talk about how Montero is sure to kill the gypsies. Olmos’s final words are to make the job look like the gypsies did it and once it’s over Auggie will be rewarded handsomely.
In the Bat Cave Bernie finds Diego returning from Zorro duty. Diego asks Bernie what’s up. Bernie lets him know that Olmos is the guy from whom Esme has been getting help. Diego is surprised to find that she trusts him and he knows that something is up. He talks about how things are dangerous and he’s afraid for Esme and her mother (fear is just another word for worried, I’d say this is ulcer-4). Diego puts back on the Zorro mask and gets ready. We are treated to some of the scenes from the opening credits of the show….very impressive, but we’ve seen it like fifty times already.
Back in the countryside, Esme is ticked off that she’s been left out of the loop on the SK rescue plans. Gerardo has the carriage leave (there was another man driving it, but we weren't privee to his name) and tells her that they can’t have her messing up their plans. Esme tries to take off but Gerardo pulls out a gun. Esme starts ranting that this all has something to do with her mother having ties to the Spanish crown. Gerardo isn’t willing to talk, so Esme has a little pity party. She worries (ulcer-5) that the gypsies are being set up all because of her. Gerardo tells her that it is inevitable that some people will be sacrificed for the mission. “What is the mission” she asks. Gerardo tells her to head for the trees.
Olmos meets with the gypsies, he gets them riled up to help w/ the SK breakout. He tells them that they will need to create a distraction while he’s men will get SK out. Renzo (looking pretty darn cute tonight) says that they’ll do that for Esme. Azucena (Renzo’s mom) is worried (ulcer-6) because the cards tell her that change is coming but along with death and danger. Leisha doesn’t like the idea, she questions the jorobado/hunchback as why the gypsies are being used as bait and why isn’t Esme here to be a part of all of this. Olmos, the chismoso, tells them that Esme is with child. Renzo is visibly upset and Leisha touches his arm in comfort. Olmos goes on, with her in such a delicate situation it is best to keep her away from potential danger. She’s in a safe place waiting for SK. Jonas says that they’re in and tells the rest of the gypsies to get prepared.
Auggie meets with Manny. He shows Manny the pearls and says if they let the masked woman escape Manny will get some too. Manny says he’d rather be poor and alive than rich and dead. They banter a little about the plan and finally Auggie says that actually they won’t be letting SK escape, their orders are to kill her. This seems like a great way to score a pearl necklace to Manny, so he’s in on the job.
In their new cell, Sara Kali and Hermes are talking. Hermes says compared to where they were, this place seems like the Hilton, plus they are getting way more food her. SK has no appetite, she’s worried (ulcer-7). Things seem fishy and she suspects a trap. Hermes pooh-poohs that, but SK insists that she has pretty good intuition, something bad is about to happen.
Gerardo tells Esme that he’s orders were to kill her if she didn’t listen, so she just better follow orders. Esme fakes an ankle twisting and grabs some dirt to throw in Gerardo’s face. It stuns him, but he gets off one shot which grazes Esme’s left forearm. She gets knocked down by the shot, but luckily falls right near a rock. She picks it up and clocks Gerardo, knocking him out cold. She takes off on foot.
Zorro, on horseback, vows to find Esme and he also hopes he’s not too late to save Sara Kali. We are treated to a montage of scenes with Esme wandering and Zorro riding.
In San Diego, Fernando is waiting outside with a bunch of flowers. MP comes out in her wedding gown. Fernando is awestruck. He tells MP that she is the most beautiful, she is his happiness. They move in for a kiss and the bells chime again. They have a little laugh and hop into the carriage toward the church.
Dena and her driver have got the wheel back on and are on their way again. She hears the church bells and wonders if there is a mass about to begin. Her driver, with his keen sense of hearing, says nope those are wedding bells. This freaks Dena out, she needs to get there in time to stop the wedding from happening. She insists the driver get the horses to move faster. He is concerned because they didn’t fix the wheel all the way. She pushes him to go faster, and he obliges. A high rate of speed and a loose wheel make for a bad combination. The wheel falls off and Dena is thrown from the carriage. She appears to be knocked out and it looks like her driver is also injured.
Wandering Esme has a series of flashbacks to her and Olmos---when he found her sneaking around the prison and various conversations about freeing Sara Kali. She is upset that he tricked her into trusting him. She’s worried (ulcer-8) that something bad will befall the gypsies and it will be all her fault.
Renzo and two other gypsy men who’s names I didn’t catch, are ready to scale the walls of the prison. The men, along with Jonas, discuss strategy. Jonas warns them to not let the soldiers get their guns loaded, they stand a better chance against the soldiers if it comes to a knife fight (at this point I had a flash of the Jets and Sharks knifing it out in West Side Story while dancing…my mind wanders). I don’t think that they have anything to worry about, it seems like these soldiers are poor shots and never prepared to have loaded gun handy, even with Zorro running amok all through town. Renzo gives a little impassioned speech about being willing to give his life to save the queen (Esme’s not there to hear it, so give it a rest…save it for when she’s around that way you’ll get credit Renzo).
Back at the de la Vega home, Dolores orders Juan to gather some men and follow Al with Yumi and the other indians. She doesn’t care if they are Yumi’s relatives, she doesn’t like them. She tells Juan she is worried that something bad might happen to Al (ulcer-9). Juan tries to get some gossip out of Dolo, she won’t talk and tells him to do as she says.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the middle of some grass the indians turn on Al, who responds by pointing his gun at Ariel. The indians hold Yumi hostage and demand Al put the gun down. Al follows their orders and then the indians start to give Yumi the riot act. She was supposed to avenge her family and all she did was shack up with this white man. They tell her she knows what the punishment is for living with a white man, death (at this point, I can't tell what Al's reaction is....is that his worried face? I mean any other time he's worried he has to tell someone he's worried, I'm afraid that I cannot read the face so therefore won't be calling this as part of the ulcer count. IMHO, it is only Yumi, since I don't like her, no reason to worry if something happens to her).
Mangle is talking to herself, saying how Diego will pay (same old song and dance). Suddenly someone reaches with a chloroformed rag and gags her (obviously just as sick of hearing her same old ranting as we are). It is Olmos. He says that if he is going to end up dead by fulfilling his mission he’s going to make sure he gets a chance with her. I LOVE this plot development, so fitting for Mangle. HA!!
Zorro finds Esme and she tells him that “they are going to kill my mother.” Diego has a look on his face like what do I do now……END OF EPISODE/ Final Ulcer Count =9

Destilando Amor 04/16/07 Aaron gets a LapTop, Clara gets a TV, TWB gets an eyeful & Rod just gets Confused
Gavi rushes out, comes back with some ice and old guy is Alive..Alive I say, Sr. Max, rushes in...followed by Flavia, the now oldest Virgin on the show & resident Fea...Old Guy quickly invents a story that Gavi was harrassing him, she wants him to pay attention to her and when he wouldn't well she whacked him with a bottle. Oh poor Flavia, if only....anyway Max & Flavia are facing Gavi for a Na Uh! Ya Huh! conversation...Old Guy is standing behind them making faces and smirking big time....
Nancy tells Max that Old Guy is a RatBastard that has been chasing Gavi all these long months and Gavi has done nothing to encourage it. Later Gavi is sitting at a table in the lobby with Nancy lamenting the unfairness of it all, the only thing that would help would be a healthy dose of Tequila...Nancy runs off to get one. Max comes up and sees Gavi, she apoligizes, thinking she is canned and prepares to leave..Hold on there Lil Missy, you take the rest of the day off and come back tommorrow. Wow this Max guy is alright, I hope he doesn't have some terminal disease, as most secondary nice TeleNovela guys do (cough cough)...
Okay now then out at the ranch...SanWannaWannaWanna allthetimea, has cornered Hilario again, I simply can't believe she has been playing hide the chorizo for a year now and Roman and his lovely wife aren't grandparents? Anyway she quizzes Hilario about Rod & Gavi, is he still searching for Gavi? "Nah" counters Hilario, he has forgotten all about her. Hilario tells San WannaWanna that Pa Ingells is gone, so it is hit the hay time.
TWB, wanders out at this moment, somewhere there is a calf that is gonna be mighty cold this winter missing all its skin that went into making some more CFM Dominatrix boots. Where is PETA when you need em? She wanders towards the barn...then she is coming out with a OMG...look, she has seen Hilario & SanWanna, she looks positively weak, she probably couldn't watch more than ten minutes or so, before she left in total disgust...NOT
SanWannaWanna can't wait to fill TWB in on the exciting news, Gavi is yesterday's news, Hilario is evesdropping around the corner, he hears the news being passed on by SanWanna, doble agent.
Back to the lovely Gavi, she is back at home and there is a knock at the door, she looks outside then makes Ma get blindfolded for a big surprise...Two guys bring in the TV & new sewing machine...Ma is dumbfounded & way excited..How oh How can we afford, such things, don't worry Ma; Gavi has found the Mexican Rent to Own...
Back in Jalisco, once again, Rod (who yes he is now GABE from Mundo to Me...shout out to Melinama, she called it first), anyhow he is drinking guess what? Tequila with James & Crispin (possibly the two worst advice givers in all of Mexico)...He is still lamenting Gavi not returning...Why Oh Why, after all he did offer to set her up as his Amante...which actually all things considered was a fairly lucretive offer, but I digress..Rod is now thinking of hiring a detective...(he got dubbed AssHat for the first time this episode, at this point, fear not there are more AssHats coming), ten months later, yeah thank gawd, do it Magnum before the trail gets cold. Basically Crispin and James are like there are more fish in the sea...in fact Crispin calls over two little hotties, Begonia & Petunia, Rod is stunned, he is furious, he leaves...James follows him out, but Rod will listen to no one, these peasents don't understand...Mi Gaviota is his one true love...that's it.
Now back in MX DF, Minnnnnnervvvvva, wanders in to Aaron's business, she quizzes old secretary lady about her husband's whereabouts. Old Sec says Aaron took off somewhere with his assistant Lluvia. Now a restuarant scene with Lluvia in the midst of saving Aaron's life, she is performing the Hoover Maneuver, literally sucking a blockage from Aaron's throat, wow and she types too? Lluvia now literally feeds the weakened Aaron, lifting the fork to his grateful lips. The cellular rings, Aaron answers, it is Minnie, "Where the Hell are you?" she queries, "Oh I am at a meeting and I had to take my ever trusty personal assistant with me, in case she has to take notes, yeah that's it take notes.
Back to Minnie, she does not believe a word of it. After she hangs up, she vows to call his alleged destination, to yes...check up on him....Gotta give her credit, if it was Rod, he be asking the Dream Team, Crispin and James what to do.
Sofie and Pilar are having a conversation, how everyone will be together soon...Well not Daniela cause she is like from another planet, she isn't interested in the family nonsense....Oh Sofie, so young and yet so bitter. ****At this point I must say Granny Pilar has me worried, she needs to check with a doctor, cause I strongly suspect she has Graves Disease. She asks Sofie what plans she has for her own life...Well Sofie has no plans other than to insure her brother impregnate TWB & thus rob Aaron of any chance of inheriting everything. Well she certainly is single minded. Well maybe it is cause if she loses the money, she has no chance of ever finding anyone who will put up with her constant pinched expression, yeah James the Wuss was like a one in a lifetime & I think he's doing muchachas in the Tequilarea...
Rod returns home and Hilario tells Rod about his little white lie. Rod is muy impacto...Hilario shouldn't have lied, TWB, is perfectly aware that once he finds Gavi, he plans to divorce her skanky self and she has no problem with it. Oh Rod, Oh little Dreamer, you are a doble AssHat, how oh how could you be that stupid....Now I have a splitting headache from the anvil that just dropped...Hello TWB, is standing there, yeah right there behind you, she heard the whole thing...
Aaron returns home...I forgot this earlier, but he is dressed in a cornucopia of stripes, his suit is striped, his shirt is striped, his tie is striped....Dude unlike your women, when it comes to patterns, less is more.
He is all "Honey I'm Home". Minnie is leaning against the whole doing her best, I'm gonna kick your Ass, "Pink Lady Stance"..Aaron picks up a Havana & to my delight Minnie knocks it out of his mouth, he shoves her back...she tells him she called up on him today and he didn't go to a meeting. Aaron grinds his fist down on the table and seriously clenches face muscles I didn't even know humans had. No woman is gonna control him...get that...you barren skank...She throws a picture frame down, he tells her, she's got two months to get pregnant...that's it...This was a kinda kinky fight...you could tell they were both gettin turned on by all the pushing, shoving and threats.
Meanwhile...Rod is sitting and typing on a computer, I think it was about the Spring Agave Harvest...then he starts having Gavi thoughts...Damn, he smiles that smile...I must resist..I must resist...Whew thank gawd I still am having Anvil pain, or I'd been been Rod's lil Rangerette again, with pom-poms and everything.
Gavi is thinking of Rod...she goes outside and is up on the roof...the Bascilica is behind her....
REMEMBER THIS....THE BASCILICA IS BEHIND HER!!!!!!There is moon-light, a song plays
she is having Rod flash backs...Now Rod is down under the tree, he is having Gavi flash backs...
Now Gavi is under the ANGEL STATUE.....this is what is wrong...I hate to be picky, but the Angel Statue is on Reforma...quite a ways from the Bascilica...trust me on this...so unless Gavi hopped a bus and went to the Angel Statue...well I guess it is poetic or something, but anyone who is Mexican knows they are far apart and Gavi wouldn't be just wandering around MX DF at nite...jest sayin...Rod is now perched in a tree and there is a fire going, why oh why haven't you returned Gavi? I hope this isn't dead gramps resting place.
TWB gets up outta bed and opens the balcony, she languishes against the doorframe...she definately has an itch and it just ain't gettin scratched.
Two more months fly by....Time for Rod and TWB, to pack up and go to Mexico City...Rod is giving James his cell number, like James didn't have it? He is telling James to call him should Gavi return. TWB is going out to the love nest or the barn...Hil is grooming a horse, Hil is shirtless, TWB comes up behing Hil and the horse is giving her the eye. For a second this looks like the opening scene from some really raunchy payforview movie, (hey I have never seen one but I used to work for DigiCable and had to run a query everyday of PPV titles...Oh yes they are pretty explicit). She is wearing some serious bling...her skin tite jeans look like something Leo from Mundo, bedazzeled in his spare time. TWB questions, Hil about Rod & Gav, but he isn't giving any info up.
Aaron's Old Secretary (old as in age) is over at Minnies, basically telling her skank Lluvia does nothing but Aaron, just then Minnie gets a call that yes she is pregnant..Yepee, she tell Old Sec she will take care of everything.
At the office Lluvia, comes in to Aaron's office with the pretense of showing him some papers, but of course it is just a pretense, she ending up on his lap and he tells her it is fine; his wife is not allowed in his office...Another Anvil...the door opens and Aaron and Lluvia are trying to do tongue transplants without actually using a surgeon...Ahhh the Hoover Maneuver...Minnie..what the Hell? Lluvia jumps up, apoligizes (well kinda) and runs out....Aaron in another fashion forward cascade of conflicting stripes, tries to tell her, things are not as they appear. Minnie is all like shut-up AssHat, I'm pregnant and if you ever wanna see this kid, there is a new Sheriff in town and we're playin by my rules..fire the skank...He calls the Skank in and fires her, totally berating her, he then shoves her out the door...Damn why doesn't someone organize the Mexican Labor Force? Where is Jaime Hoffa when you need him? Aaron says don't say anything until the big meeting & they kiss passionately....
>>>>>>>>>I totally think Aaron will do a Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Meeting", "Yes indeed. This girl has life in her body. And that's no lie." >>>>>Then drink doble dobles.
Back at the ranch SanWanna & TWB are packing everything TWB ever owned right down to the smallest thong panty...What asks Rod, we are only going for two maybe three days. Well she just wants to have everything in case she needs it...Yeah right.
Gavi sees and ad in the paper for executive assistant to General Director of Tequila is us...which would be Aaron..Gavi goes home and Ma has made her a new dress with her new sewing machine.
Minnie is talking to Sofie and Pilar...they are in the new apartment Pilar got for Rod and TWB...they are talking about men, Rod and the jimadora & Aaron and anything with a pulse...Minnie is wearing stiletto boots, geez, I would think she'd have sensible flats and bubble wrap around her, considering...Sofie asks Pilar if Gramps was unfaithful. Pilar gets a far away look in her bulging eyes............(Actually she said something, but I missed it).....
Will Gavi become Aarons next Sex-A-Teri?
Will Rod drive down the street and almost run into Gavi (a-la Gabe style?)....hey is not beyond the realm of mathmatical possibility...odds like one in 20 million to the nth degree

La Fea Más Bella #254 4/16/07 Aurora Powers: International Woman of Mystery
Caro sees Lety's face on the cover of a tabloid and gloats that she was right about a makeover doing Lety some good.
Julieta wakes Lety, who hides under the covers doesn't want to get up. She even refuses an offer of breakfast in bed. Her problem? She can't decide which face to wear to work.
Tomas takes Alicia home from Acapulco... apparently she brought luggage. She says with a bath, she'll be good as new. Tomas wants in on this bath, but is refused. She sends him home, advising that if he wants more than the little kisses she gave him last night just to be nice, he's going to have to make more money.
Omar is reading the tabloid at home and mumbling to himself about this mysterious woman he's in love with. He kisses her earring and says it stills smells like her perfume. He starts to call Fern to tell him how happy he is, then decides not to.
Fern asks Tomas what Aldo said about buying of Conceptos's debt. Tomas says that Aldo said he'll discuss it with them later. This answer doesn't satisfy Fern, but it's all Tomas can offer. (Tomas is wearing an aqua t-shirt with a forest green jacket - weird color combo.)
Lety decides to be her regular old self for Halloween. I mean work. She says something about her braces/retainer/whatever and draws on some bushy eyebrows (using an old photo of herself for reference). She asks the mirror, "mirror mirror, who's the ugliest of them all?" and giggles.
Omar brings the tabloid to work. I guess he's reinstated himself as an employee. He shows the picture to the entire cuartel and tells them he's going to marry her. (No one recognizes the Mystery Woman.)
Lety comes down the stairs to breakfast, just as frumpy as ever and vows that no one will ever know what she looked like last night. RoboPop wonders why she didn't want to get out of bed. She doesn't have a great answer. They turn on the TV (which is normally kept in the parents' bedroom) and the Televisa guy is showing footage of the Mystery Woman. Lety grins goofily. RoboPop disapproves of Aurora's revealing clothing. The Televisa guy says they're going to launch a campaign to find that woman. Lety's eye twitches.
Omar goes to his old office and says he forgives Fern. Fern offers him the Big Chair. Omar tells him about the Mystery Woman but doesn't want to show him the picture because maybe Fern will try to steal her. Caro comes in and is surprised when Fern offers her his seat (he smacks it invitingly). She says "you're not going to hit me too, are you?"
Out in the Vortex, the cuartel is watching TV. They wonder about the Mystery Woman and something about having dinner with Fernando Colunga.
Caro asks Omar for the earring. Omar agrees to give it back, but only if Aurora will have dinner with him that evening.
Lety gets to the office and Celso comments that she looks strange. He is so concerned that he rides up on the elevator with her and follows her up to her office, where she is soon joined by Carolina. Caro shows her the tabloid article. "Lety's in an article!," Lety exclaims. Fern comes in, just in time to hear that. He takes the paper. He sees the Aurora photo but quickly flips past it. Lety points out a pair of eyeglasses in a crowd and says that's her. She tells him that photos of her are from horror stories. Fern disagrees and says she's bellisima!
He peers at her closely, and Lety gets self-conscious and tries to hide her face. There's no new info about Aldo, so he goes out into the Vortex where the cuartel is still gosipping about the Mystery Woman. They ask if he doesn't think she's pretty. He's not especially impressed. He says he likes Le - er, that is, he likes to read his business stuff. He goes to his office.
Lety tells Caro they're not going to tell anyone about Aurora. She wonders if she should give herself a mustache. Manuel calls again about the earrings. Caro says he'll get them back. Lety admits she lost one. Caro says Omar has it. Lety is not keen to have to get all dressed up for him again.
Caro gets another call and has to leave. She tells Lety to get the earring back. Lety is surprised to hear that Omar's in the office.
Fern and Omar talk about Aurora. Fern assures him that he prefers Lety. Omar cannot shut up about this great goddess. (At some point, Fern refers to Aldo as a "knight of the rectangular table.") Omar puts on the earring and Fern tells him that Aldo bought off Conceptos's debt. They think that might be the end of Conceptos.
Alicia arrives in a crazy white outfit and designer sunglasses. She asks haven't they ever seen a singing star before? The cuartel ridicules her. She says she'll be doing autographs at 4 and photos at 5. If they want one sooner they'll have to bring her 50 of Fernando Colunga first. (Okay, that's twice now that the Fine One has been mentioned in a single episode. What's up?) Tomas shows up and introduces her as the Great Queen of Song, and says he's her agent. She tells Tomas her hand hurts from signing all those autographs. Tomas is preparing to kiss it when Lety thunks him on the shoulder and says he's acting goofy.
Lety is looking for Omar. They're all confused as to why he's back in the office. Gossip gossip. They mention the Mystery Woman. Lety says she's very pretty, unlike herself. Alicia thinks Aurora's more like her. (Laughter.)
Fern and Omar continue to catch up and Omar unthinkingly refers to "la gargolita." Fern tells him if he does that again, he'll kill him!
Lety comes in. She wants to know what Omar's doing there. Omar claims that Fern is trying to get him to come back to work for Conceptos. (She tries to take the earring, but Omar takes it out from under her hand.) Omar says he want to help pay off the debt. Fern explains about Aurora, or as he calls her, "a-llorar" (a reference to crying). He doesn't think she's all that pretty. Lety leaves them, and a moment later, Omar nearly calls her "gargolita" again. Almost.
In the Vortex, Alicia tells Lety there's a surprise waiting in her office. Is it one of Aldo's daily gifts? No, it's the other kind of surprise, the kind that sometimes inspires people to phone the police. Ariel is in there, and he's not sitting on the sofa or the guest chair, no, he's sitting in the president's chair! He says he's been waiting for her to give him the presidency! Lety laughs at his great joke and asks if he has any others. He reminds her that she quit at the last meeting and claims that the executive board agreed he'd be the new president.
Out in the Vortex, Alicia is telling the cuartel that Ariel's the president, so she'll automatically be his assistant. They wonder how she can both be a singing star, and the president's assistant. Martha suggests that perhaps she's the assistant to a singing star. Tomas comes out to help, but she brushes him off, telling him she's now Ariel's assistant. To the cuartel, she says "get to work, slaves!"
Meanwhile, Aldo is meeting with a lawyer, who explains that the Mendiolas and Villaroels will need to consult with him, the effective owner of Conceptos, on all decisions. This brings a smile to Aldo's face, who clarifies, he's not the technical owner of Conceptos, but he's in control of the company.
Lety tells Ariel about Aldo buying off the debt. Ariel says he knows that, but a qualified person needs to be president. He tells her to get out of his office. Lety calmly says he'd probably be the best president in the world, but at the very least they should inform Fernando. Ariel is scornful. Lety expresses pity for Ariel, who can't get the presidency he's wanted all his life, oh how painful it must be. Ariel responds that she'll always be an ugly economist who can only provoke pain. Lety flashes back to her first glimpse of Aurora in the mirror and smirkingly agrees with him. Ariel says she's just an employee, and he may not be perfect, but he's an owner. "Get that? I'm the owner!"
He sounds just like a spoiled little kid, but he's groping her like Aldo. "Sure I get it," Lety says coldly. Omar, Tomas, and Fern interrupt. Fern asks who invited Ariel to the party. Ariel says he's taken over the presidency of his company and has lots to do. Fern explains to the others that Ariel got dropped as a kid, and it's affected his mind permanently. Ariel claims he discussed it with the executive board and he has every right to it. He kicks them all out.
Fern basically tells them to let the baby have his bottle for the day. It'll all be sorted out tomorrow. They leave Ariel alone, who then congratulates himself.
Out in the Vortex, Lety thanks Fern for defending her and admits she doesn't understand Ariel. Fern assures her that no one understands Ariel - he's been like that since birth. Lety says it's all really their fault the company was in a bind. Fern says no, it's Luigi's fault, for spending too much money.
Speak of the devil, Luigi comes off the elevator to a lot of self-induced fanfare. He tells them all to stop crying, because he's back, and advises that he won't be doing autographs and photos. They all stare at him, and he asks haven't they ever seen a celebrity before. There's an awkward silence as Fern approaches Luigi... and begins to strangle him. They are separated mostly by Omar and Irma. Fern blames Luigi for the loss of the company. Luigi is surprised to hear that his expenses cost them the company.
(Lety picks Omar's pocket and retrieves the earring, but he catches her. She tells him he doesn't wear earrings and she found it on the floor. She reluctantly gives it back. )
Luigi whines and quits, yet again. People do not immediately begin knocking themselves out to change his mind.
Alicia is "helping" Ariel out in his new job. "Find Aldo," he orders. "Review salaries and bonuses," Alicia writes in her notepad. "Get me the latest numbers for the company," he orders. "I don't like the color of Omar's office," Alicia notes. "Maybe it should be red and gold." "Ask about the bank accounts, and then take a memo," Ariel orders. "I'm going to need an apartment and a cell phone," Alicia writes.
"Okay, take note, dear clients and friends, it's a pleasure for us to inform you that Mr. Ariel Villaroel... no, that's no good, okay, repeat all of that," Ariel says to Alicia.
"Huh?" Alicia says. She hasn't been taking any of his notes - only her own. Ariel takes the notepad and is disgusted. He says between "their" (Fern and Lety's) loyalty and her intelligence, no wonder the company is in the crapper. Alicia asks him not to be like his sister. She babbles, and Ariel's eyes glaze over with whatever element medieval people used to associate with anger.
Meanwhile, Lety is on the phone with Caro in the Vortex. Marcia, coming out of the bathroom, overhears Lety saying she couldn't get the earring from Omar, so Aurora's going to have to go to dinner with him, "but I don't want anyone to find out." And I'm thinking she still hasn't said anything totally incriminating yet, but then Lety adds, "don't worry, Carolina, I'll make myself up all stunning and gorgeous. He'll be even more knocked out than yesterday. Our date will be at a restaurant called The Delights."
Gee, Lety, why not draw a map too so that Marcia doesn't have to follow you?
Marcia gloats. "Leticia with Omar? Gorgeous? I think I've got a date at The Delights."
Mañana
Marcia warns Fernando that two men aren't enough for Lety - she's going after Omar too.

Acorralada #65 – Friday, 4/13/07 Fate Keeps On Happening
We are at the Little House on the Beach and Marfil has regained consciousness. She is wearing Debora’s commando gear and clutching her head. Our Heroine informs her that the Real Marfil/Faux Marfil game is once more afoot. Real Marfil is acorralada in her own trap. She fails to appreciate the fine irony of the situation. She screams at Diana, then charges the door and howls for Isabel to let her out.
Cut to Paco and Gaviota. It’s the usual “I was just your friend in need” / “I had to get my revenge out of the way first” conversation, complete with tears and Orchestra of Doom. Gaviota goes on to tell him of all the messages she left. She was ready to marry him when he got back, but he never answered a single message. Paco is impactado. Now Gaviota knows why he never answered. Who’s the Other Woman? Dueling close-ups as the Orchestra of Doom plays on.
Emilio’s. Max is going to call Gaviota for an update. Yolanda and Emilio are sitting on the couch. Faux Marfil enters the room as if she’s been shot out of a cannon; Emilio and Yolanda immediately stand up to let us know that this was unexpected. Max grills Our Little Blonde Weasel. And where has she been? Faux Marfil hovers on the edge of Chihuahua on crack mode. Max repeats his suspicion that she knows more about Diana than she’s letting on. She querulously denies being capable of having a rival kidnapped, tells him to quit bugging her, and flounces off to the bedroom. Yolanda doesn’t think Marfil could go that far. (Well, we all know what an astute judge of character Yolanda is.) Emilio agrees with her.
In the bedroom, Bruna notes that Sra. Debora looks muy angustiada. “That’s right. Debora.” She tells Bruna that Marfil has been the one enjoying the Irascible family fortunes during the last few days. Bruna is impactada.
Time to see how the double-date from hell is going. Gaby, who is dressed like Leslie Gore, tells Larry that she wants a divorce. And supposing Larry doesn’t want to give her one? Is he doing this to thwart Kique? Aha, so she admits that she wants to marry that imbécil? He loves me, you never did, etc., etc. And speaking of Our Evil Studmuffin, here he is again, with a glass of wine in his hand and Pilar on his arm. Lunkhead Larry wants to continue the argument, but Gaby is done talking. She gets up from the table. Pilar obligingly leaves Kique to work his evil magic on Little Doormat. While Gaby rejoins Kique, Larry rejoins Pilar, but only to announce that they’re leaving. Without dinner? An Evil Sex Kitten needs to keep her strength up, after all. And with any luck she’s eating for two so she can hang a bogus paternity rap on him. “No tengo ni un pelo de tonto*,” is Larry’s priceless answer. He accuses Pilar and Kique of setting up this chance encounter. Pilar denies it. Larry gives Kique the fiera glare. Our Evil Studmuffin raises Gaby’s hand to his lips with a wicked smile.
We check in on that other fun couple, Paco and Fediota. There’s a fair amount of coulda-shoulda-woulda before Gaviota returns to the identity of Paco’s wife. Who is she? He wimps out and says, “Alicia.” Fedora repeats the name, varying the subtext and her expression, at least three times. The same Alicia he loved years ago? “The very same. But despite my marriage, I’ll always be a friend you can count on.” Pobre de Gaviota.
At Marfil’s Playhouse by the Sea, Real Marfil finally succeeds in getting Isabel to the door. “I’m Real Marfil!” “And I’m Superman’s mother,” is Isabel’s witty riposte. Marfil frantically gives her a recap of recent events. “Throw that bone to another dog, Debora.” Boy, Isabel’s really cracking wise today. Marfil insists, but Isabel isn’t buying it. She closes the little window as Marfil shrieks hysterically. Diana cuts her off. Nobody’s going to believe her. The only way they’re getting out is when Debora returns with the police, and then Marfil and her accomplices will go to jail. Like me, Marfil bursts out laughing at the idea of Debora leading the charge to rescue Diana. It doesn’t matter which Marfil is on the loose. Neither one of them wants Our Heroine free. “¡No puede ser!” Marfil tells Diana how stupid she is, driving the point home with “We’re done for!” Diana is impactada.
Paco and Gaviota are having a Piano Moment. They lament what might have been had he been less of an idiot and she less obsessed with revenge. Paco leaves, Fedora weeps. She loves him, she lost him, he’ll never be hers again. Ay, the cruelty of fate.
Back at Emilio’s, Debora is getting Bruna up to speed. She rehashes the Soirée of Shame, and the pieces all fall into place for Bruna. (It’s about time. She’s been singularly dense on this issue.) "And tomorrow, Marfil and Diana will be flown to an insane asylum in the middle of the jungle. It’s a horrible place from which they’ll never escape." Bruna panics and begs her not to do this to her sister. Diana, fine, but not Marfil. Debora’s working herself up to fiera-pitch. One of them has to go, and now that she, Debora, is once more occupying Marfil’s place, she’s going to keep it, for the rest of her life. Bruna protests, but it’s not about what Bruna wants. This is how it’s going to be, period. Tough cookies. “And don’t you dare open your big mouth!” Bruna is distraught.
Our Hero gets up from the couch. Cue theme song. Max hopes to God nothing bad has happened to Diana. He gets teary-eyed. “Mi Diana.” Pobre de Max.
The theme song continues as we return to Our Heroine. She’s crying over Max Jr. Marfil rags on her about this and Diana counters with “At least I succeeded where you failed. I gave Maximiliano a son.” “Fat lot of good it did you.” They squabble on a bit, until Marfil gets philosophical and comments on the capriciousness of Life. They both lost Max; Debora came out the victor. Diana is crushed. She’ll never see Max or Jr. again. Commercial.
We check in on Gaviota. She is no longer the torch-singing attorney or the perfume potentate. She’s just a Woman Alone with the Blues. After much redundant agonizing, she hears someone at the door and pretends to be asleep. Enter Little Doormat, who decides not to wake her, kisses her on the forehead, and leaves. Fediota gets up and after some rambling arrives at the conclusion that by destroying her enemies she has destroyed herself.
Gaby enters her room. Larry pounces on her from behind the door, scaring the bejesus out of her. She tells him to get out, but he holds onto her for the close-up and swears his undying love. They’ll go to Venezuela; he admits he was an idiot, repents each wrong, etc., etc. He ends by saying that he knows she hasn’t stopped loving him. She admits that he’s right, but no puede ser. He has to leave before Gaviota sees him. But he wants to sleep with her, tonight. No, she’ll sleep alone, as always. Exit Larry. Little Doormat leans tearfully against the door, thought-bubbling the usual “If only our love were possible" nonsense.
Back at Marfil’s Playhouse by the Sea, Andrés enters the cell to wake the prisoners. Today’s the big day. They’re going to their new home. Marfil tries to convince him that she’s not Debora. He refuses to believe her. She calls on Diana to back her up, but Our Heroine says nary a word. Andrés is going to get Lidia (? an alias for Isabel?), who will put them out for the journey. Marfil turns on Diana. “Why didn’t you back me up?” “Why should I? You wanted me locked up in a madhouse. Now our fate is sealed. No one’s going to help us.” Translation: “If I’m going down, I’m taking you with me, bitch.” Close-up of Marfil, horrified.
Octavia is sitting on Paco’s couch, clad in hot pink lingerie with black lace trim. In more garish surroundings (say, Gaviota’s dressing room) she’d look like a madam on her day off as she pretends to drink an espresso. Enter Caramelo, dressed for morning mass: Blouse, pushup bra, denim miniskirt. “And who are you?” she asks. Lady O turns the question back on Caramelo. Introductions are made. Close-up of Caramelo with a look of “WTF?” while the Synthesizer of Doom plays a spooky chord.
At Villa Vengeance, Fediota’s on the phone with the police. The rest of Team Gaviota is present, accounted for, and hanging on her every word. Still no trace of Our Heroine. Since there’s no news about Diana, Fediota decides to entertain the gang with her own personal tragedy. She rehashes the Paco fracaso.
We return to Emilio’s. Dr. Evil calls Faux Marfil to let her know that the prisoners have been drugged and things are going according to plan. As he talks, he strokes his face with the barrel of his gun. Debora can barely contain herself, she’s so excited. This conversation seems more like phone sex than kidnapping, but I suppose neither one has had any action lately. She tells him to call as soon as they get back.
At Paco’s. Caramelo is having a hard time with this. Papá never said anything to her. It was a “boda relámpago,” explains Octavia. Enter Paco. He’s looking mighty pleased this morning. Caramelo needs confirmation from him about this impromptu wedding. Lame excuses follow, during the course of which Paco mentions that he’s told Fedora. Cue String Quartet of Doom. Octavia tells Paco that Fedora must disappear from his life forever. Caramelo isn’t following this very well, either. Why is Gaviota her stepmother’s enemy? Because her stepmother is…Octavia de Irazabal! Close-up of Caramelo, bewildered.
We return from commercial to find that Caramelo has progressed from bewildered to impactada. Somebody’s got some splainin’ to do. Caramelo doesn’t get very satisfactory answers to her questions. With rare perception she accuses Octavia of marrying Paco to hurt Gaviota. Paco’s outraged. Octavia plays the victim. Caramelo sticks to her guns. Paco can’t believe she’s treating his wife so badly. “Open your eyes!” Caramelo answers. “She only married you to get back at Gaviota!” Exit Caramelo. Cue Orchestra of Doom. Our Wily Villainess is all duplicitous affection with Paco. He’s not going to let his daughter get in the way of their happiness, is he? Crescendo.
At Emilio’s, Max is walking out the door as Camila is coming in. He was just on his way to a few job interviews. Afterwards he’s going to stop by the police station for news. Camila’s sorry. “Oh, come off it, you’re not a bit sorry.” Well, sorry for Max. She suggests they pick up where they left off while Marfil was in a coma. “Forget Diana, divorce Marfil, come back to me. Only I can make you happy.” Ominous piano chords.
At the airport. Dr. Evil and Isabel are standing near a small plane. Ignacio thanks her for all her help. She asks him to call her when they get to the manicomio in the jungle. And look out for Andrés. “Your nephew can take care of himself.” They say goodbye. Dr. Evil gets into the plane and tells everyone to fasten their seatbelts. The Chamber Orchestra of Doom plays slow, dark, portentous music as the plane taxis, takes off, and flies out of TeleMiami.
I look forward to seeing Diana and Marfil hack their way through the jungle with a pair of machetes. I will be especially pleased if they are captured by a lost Aztec tribe who still practice human sacrifice.
Oh, right, Max and Camila. She just wants to see him happy. Happiness went out of his life a long time ago. Exit Max. Camila is seriously miffed.
Up in the plane, Dr. Evil tells Andrés that the jungle madhouse is hell on earth, the worst place one could imagine: Dark, dirty, humid…No food, no water, just electroshock for the fun of it, among other horrors. Andrés likes what he hears. He hands Dr. Evil and the pilot guns. Commercial.
Octavia is flipping through a magazine. She finally got dressed, in a shiny, black vinyl halter top with a plunging neckline. “Evidently Paco didn’t tell Fedora last night,” she thought-bubbles. Enter Caramelo. Octavia gets up and blocks her path. “Now that your father’s gone, you and I are going to talk.” Caramelo is feeling the Villainess Vibe something awful. It takes some doing, but she manages to look Queen Cobra in the eye. Her Majesty proclaims herself châtelaine of Paco's little castle in the air, and she will have respect, damn it. Caramelo says, "Forget that." She vows to open Paco’s eyes to what a viper Octavia really is. The viper ends it by saying that Paco is so in love with her, he’ll throw Caramelo out if she asks him to. Exit Octavia. Close-up of Caramelo, not knowing what to think.
Back at Emilio’s, Camila’s helping herself to the tequila when Debora enters. She’s changed into a high-waisted black tunic that shows maximum cleavage. They have a little showdown over Camila’s right to just waltz into her brother’s apartment now that Faux Marfil is living here with her husband Max. Camila laughs in her face and asks what she’s afraid of. Debora laughs back. It’s good to see that sequestration hasn’t soured her delightful sense of humor. A little louse like Camila, against a real woman like Faux Marfil? ¡Por favor! And so on, until Camila promises to take advantage of the rift between Faux Marfil and Max to take him away from her. She laughs merrily as she leaves. Debora silently mimics Camila's threat, then fumes.
Diana comes to in the plane. It’s really happening. She’s really on her way to that insane asylum in the jungle. She’ll never see her Maxes again. All her hopes and dreams, the life she once had, blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile, Dr. Evil asks if they’re getting close. They are indeed. Ignacio blathers the usual “I can’t wait to see Diana completely destroyed.” Uh-oh. Engine trouble. Diana prays. Andrés wakes up, realizes they’re losing altitude, and freaks out. Marfil remains unconscious. Commercial.
We come back to Villa Vengeance, where Fediota is pacing her bedroom with a picture of Diana in her hands. She is sending Our Heroine “Come Home Soon” vibes. Then she tells Paco she needs him now more than ever before. Alas, he’s gone forever. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Nancy, come to announce a visitor. Caramelo stands behind her. Fediota’s not in the mood to receive company, but Caramelo tells her that there’s something she needs to know. Exit Nancy. Cue the Orchestra of Doom. Does Gaviota know who Paco’s new wife is? Dueling close-ups. Crashing cymbals.
Paco’s at a table in the bar. He’s trying to enjoy a beer when Jorge approaches and asks, “Has Gaviota found out that you married her worst enemy?” No beating around the bush for Jorge. Paco, unaware that at this moment Caramelo is spilling the beans, tells him no. “It’ll be like a nuclear bomb,” Jorge remarks. Paco seems to be having second thoughts about marrying Octavia. Especially when Jorge asks if it’s true that his wife is suspected of killing Reinosa. “Yes – but she’s innocent. She told me so.” He becomes agitated and gets up. Jorge watches him go, wondering if it was something he said.
We return to Gaviota’s room to see if Caramelo has gotten to the point yet. After an initial misunderstanding, Caramelo drops the O-bomb. Gaviota is beyond impactada.
Meanwhile, the plane carrying Our Heroine continues to plummet. Marfil finally wakes up and immediately joins in the general hysteria. The pilot spots a clearing in the jungle. He’s going to try to land. Diana says they must have faith that the Virgin of Guadalupe will protect them. Her faith is shortlived. Ignacio cries out that they’re going for a crash landing! They’re all going to die! It’s hootenanny time. Everybody scream with terror, now. The Orchestra of Doom plays loudly, frantically, and we get a slo-mo round robin of close-ups. While our steadfast pilot tries to land the plane, our friends exhibit panic, horror, and despair.
