La Traición: Wed. May 7 - Hugo and Soledad have it out and get it on; Eloisa is a material girl and the flower has power!

We open with the confrontation between Hugo and Soledad at the Hacienda. I am going to put the whole scene together even though it was broken up on the show.

H: I was so worried about you. I was looking for you everywhere.
S: Don’t pretend, Hugo, or should I call you Alcides?
H: I deserve all the hate I see in your eyes but I assure you that I was going to find you and tell you the truth.
S: Really? After so many months of deceiving me, you were finally going to find me? It’s a little late, don’t you think? What did you expect? That I would be dying to kiss you? That I would tell you that I’m happy that you are alive? Why? Why did you have to do this to me? Why did you have to break my heart? (Hugo sighs) I want answers. I need answers. Why did you do it? Why?

H: It was all vengeance for a mistake that I made and for which I am paying dearly. I don’t want to lose you. I don’t want to. Sit down please and let me explain.
S: I don’t want to sit just tell me everything.
H: Soledad, you made me happiest man in the world. I loved you so much, much more than I ever thought I could love anyone. We were going to be married but my brother and Arturo de Linares set a trap. They poisoned me because they wanted to it appear that there had been an accident. They wanted to kill me so that I couldn’t come to the church. But I survived and managed to get home. But the next morning, I didn’t wake up because I was having a catalepsy attack. Then you came. I heard you cry out but it was so horrible, I couldn’t move or say that I was alive. I swear to you that each of your tears was like a dagger in my heart.

H: The hours of my velorio were an eternity. I hoped that you would come. I knew that you would come and save me because deep in my consciousness I knew that if I heard your voice I would be saved from the catalepsy attack. But you didn’t come, my love (amor mio), you didn’t come. Where were you? (You know this Hugo, you learned it yesterday.)
S: I was sick with pain because of your death. I was sick; a doctor was by my side. I learned that day that I was pregnant with your child. I risked losing my baby. For that reason, I couldn’t go out. I had to stay in the house for my daughter.
H: (crying) My daughter. I have a series of memories of that night, the worst of which was hearing your mother talking to Manrique.
S: Why did you believe her?
H: Because they thought I was dead. They were talking in front of my casket. Why wouldn’t I believe them? (Why should truth be spoken in front of a dead person's casket? I would bet many untruths are spoken in such situations because in most cases, the dead person isn't going to say, 'that's not true.')
S: Because of the love that I had shown, Hugo or wasn’t all that we had gone through together sufficient? With my whole body and soul. I was yours. That was the truth. You should have known that what they were saying was lies.
H: I couldn’t think clearly. I was tormented because in a few hours they were going to bury me. They buried me alive.
S: Then, Alcides knew… he buried you alive?
H: I couldn’t believe it myself.
S: If that is so, how were you saved? How did it happen?
H: By the crime of Los Burque who dug me up minutes before I asphyxiated. But I swear to you that when I woke up, my first thought was of you.
S: If that was so, why didn’t you come find me? Why didn’t you tell me that it was all a lie and that you weren’t dead?
H: Of course, I came looking for you but I was too late. You had married Alcides. You were the wife of my brother.
S: You didn’t see that I was dressed in mourning? I wore black for you, Hugo to respect your memory.
H: Soledad, you waited so little time.
S: Because I was pregnant. I did it all to help my parents. (You learned this too, yesterday Have you forgotten already?) Why didn’t you look for me?
H: Because that night something happened that convinced me of your betrayal.

S: What betrayal? I never betrayed you.
H: Soledad, the night of your wedding with Alcides in the cabaña where I made you mine, I saw you, I saw you kissing him. I wanted to come in and kill you but I couldn’t. I went away.
S: Your brother made himself look like you. I was confused. I thought he was you.
H: Swear it to me. Swear it to me by our daughter.
S: I swear by the most sacred thing that I never was with Alcides. Never.
H: Now I believe you. But that night when I saw you kissing him, that night I swore that I would make you pay dearly for your betrayal.

S: How could you be so perverse, Hugo by making me love you as your brother?
H: I wanted to run away from you, leave my wish for vengeance behind and forget you forever but I couldn’t because I found out that they had put you in a sanatorium because they thought you were crazy.
S: I saw you everywhere. I knew you were alive at the bottom of my heart but no one believed me. You tried to torture me all the time.
H: That’s not true. I looked for you because I loved you and months later when I returned it was because I was concerned about the health of your baby, of our baby. By chance, I assisted at the birth of our daughter. I had no choice but to pretend to be Alcides. Why did you lie to me? (referring to telling him that Alcides was the father of the baby)
S: Because I was afraid. Because I thought you were the same Alcides who had never stopped mistreating me. It was the only thing I could say to protect my daughter.
H: It all was a trap of fate. As much as I wanted to take vengeance on you, I couldn’t. I couldn’t because I love you and I have loved you with all my heart. I never stopped loving you.
S: It’s a lie, it’s a lie. Your thirst for vengeance was more important than your love for me. When you were pretending to be Alcides, you saw me suffering many times and you did nothing. You didn’t care about my pain. You saw me suffering. When I found out you had catalepsy, I nearly went crazy until I had your grave opened to see if you had been buried alive. I did it and I saw man buried face down. Hugo, can you imagine what that meant to me? You can’t imagine because it was horrible. At that moment, you could have said that that man isn’t me, Soledad. That man isn’t me because I’m alive but you didn’t do that. Because your pain, your rage, your desire for vengeance was more important than what you felt for me. (she hits him) I didn’t deserve that pain. I didn’t deserve it because you knew that I loved you. (she continues to hit him) How could you do it? How could you be so cruel?

S: I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! (hitting him and screaming)
H: I was filled with hate and blind with jealousy. But I swear that I tried to stop this vengeance many times. The more that I felt that I wanted to hurt you, the more I loved you.
S: Shut up! Shut up! You are a wretch. When you love, you don’t doubt. You speak the truth and you didn’t do that ever.
H: I never stopped loving you, never. I need you to forgive me.
S: I don’t love you. I don’t feel anything for you. The only thing I feel is for you is hate. Do you hear me? I hate you. I never want to see you again. (She hits him some more.) I hate you. You made me betray the memory of Hugo when I believed he was dead. You made me give Alcides another opportunity and it was you. Why did you make me fall in love with you twice? I won’t forgive you for that. (she hits him) I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!
She collapses against him and he picks her up. She struggles and he kisses her forcibly and she responds. (All this was before the credits!)

A nice love making scene mercifully without dialog.

(Much as I love Hugo, when we see it all laid out here, it’s a pretty damning indictment of his behavior. If he was stupid in deciding that he had been betrayed the first time, he was just downright cruel in what he did to Soledad after he came back as Alcides. Poor Hugo, he can’t curse those who are really responsible – the writers!)

Eloisa says to Alcides that his entrance to the fiesta was spectacular. Alcides says that it has been a long time since he saw her. She asks where he has been and is he really a millionaire? “You ask so many questions,” he says, “and all at the same time. Which do you want me to answer first?” Naturally, Eloisa wants to know about the money. Alcides says that she can find that out for herself. He invites her to put her hands, gently, wherever she wants. She rummages in his pockets and finds wads of cash everywhere. She says that he is a walking bank. He says that it has been a long time since he made love to a woman. Since money is what really turns Eloisa on, they do it on a bed covered with banknotes.

At the Casa Obregon, there is no news. They have to wait.

In the tavern, Arturo tells the assembled men that Hugo has been passing himself off as his brother Alcides all this time and Arturo is sure that the mine is a lie too. Manrique says that Arturo himself confirmed that there was gold in the mine. Arturo says that’s what Hugo made them think. Now he doesn’t believe there is any gold there. They gave all their money to Hugo de Medina but it’s in Alcides’ name. Hugo could leave town with it and they would not have any recourse. Arturo recommends that the investors sue Hugo to get their money back. Rebeca tells Paquito that she has problems. She introduced some of those investors to Hugo. If their money is lost, they’ll have her head. Paquito is not sympathetic. He didn’t invest anything so he doesn’t care. He asks Margot if she has seen Eloisa. She says no.

Eloisa says to Alcides that she hasn’t seen that scar on him before. He replies that it was done by woman. Eloisa says that she must have been a wild cat. Alcides replies that she paid a high price for her error. Eloisa asks who it was. Does she know her? Alcides says that he wants to talk business. Eloisa says that she is listening. She assumes that it has to do with Soledad. She holds a wad of bills up to her nose and says that she loves the smell of money. She asks how Alcides came to be a millionaire. He replies that she will never know that. Eloisa gets to the point. What does he want her to do? He says that he wants her to be his partner. If she does what he wants, she will become very rich. “What do I have to do?” she asks. “I will tell you in a minute,” says Alcides, “but the day that Soledad is mine, I will give you half my fortune.”

Eloisa says that she doesn’t understand how she can help Alcides get Soledad. “You say you love her but you make love to me. I think you have a terrible obsession, Alcides.” Alcides says that he doesn’t want her opinion. Does she want money or does she want to leave right now empty handed? Eloisa says she will do what he wants but Soledad is Alcides lawful wife. He can force her. What does he need Eloisa for? Alcides says that he wants Soledad to come to him willingly. He has a plan. He wants Eloisa to become Soledad’s best friend. Eloisa says that she can guess the rest. She will stay at Soledad’s side all the time and report on who she sees, what she does and especially her meetings with Hugo. Alcides says Soledad won’t be able to take one step without his knowing about it. Eloisa agrees with one condition. She doesn’t want anyone to know about their agreement including her allies. “Done”, says Alcides.

Dr. Max is packing up and leaving town (is he taking the Cabinet of the dead wife?) Dr. Dan and Michelle arrive. They want Dr. Dan’s father’s book. (I thought they already got them.) Dr. Max hands them over. They want to use a laboratory. Dr. Max says fine, use my laboratory. I won’t be back for a long time. Dr. Dan says he thought Dr. Max was interested that Michelle had been cured of catalepsy. Dr. Max says that she is wrong. She has not been cured. There is no cure for catalepsy.

We’re back to square one at the Casa Obregon. Both Antonia and Lucas are going to return to live there to help Soledad.

Paquito is looking for Eloisa in the tavern. Marina comes in.

Michelle asks Dr. Dan, who has been studying his father’s papers whether he discovered a cure for catalepsy. Dr. Dan says that he needs one more proof to confirm it. He needs to study her blood. The proof is in her blood.

Ester and Lucas work a deal to stay together for Soledad’s sake. Lucas will give up the Mysterious Lady and they will have separate bedrooms.

Hugo wakes up with a smile but Soledad is gone. “I’ve lost her,” he says. “I’ve lost her forever.” There’s a knock on the door. It’s Boris saying that the employees of the Hacienda are ready to search for Soledad. Hugo tells him that Soledad is at the Hacienda and to cancel the search. (Poor Boris. Hugo didn’t tell him Soledad was there earlier.)

Soledad is walking through the square remembering Hugo saying that he always loved her. People start whispering and pointing.

At the lab, Dr. Dan has concluded by using the primitive microscope that Michelle’s blood does not contain any trace of catalepsy. Michelle is happy to be proved right that she is cured. But Dr. Dan needs the flower to be sure that they have the cure. Michelle says that if they can’t find he flower, their trip here was for nothing. In comes Antonia and tells them that the flower is flourishing in her sister-in-law’s garden. Antonia says that if they won’t tell her what they want the flower for, she won’t tell them where it is. She asks where Dr. Max is. Michelle says that he went on a trip and let them use his laboratory. Michelle explains that they need to flower to develop a cure for catalepsy. Antonia says that she is interested in that, her niece’s daughter suffers from catalepsy.

Ester and Lucas are having the same old argument about Jeremias and the house when Soledad comes in. She hugs Lucas and he says that he is there to protect her.

Marina is looking for Eloisa. Paquito guesses that Marina is Eloisa’s spy in Hugo’s house. Before he can do anything about it, Eloisa comes in and drags Marina off.

Boris looks at Marina’s picture and takes out some baby booties while he remembers what Marina said. He cries. Ursula comes in. Boris says that Marina has abandoned him and separated him from his child. Ursula comforts him.

Eloisa scolds Marina for looking for her in a public place like the tavern. Marina says that she didn’t have a choice. Boris threw her out. She needs the money Eloisa promised her and a place to live. Paquito comes in and says that he has discovered Eloisa’s secret ally.

Hugo has memories in Soledad’s room. He finds the diary that Soledad wrote when she was pregnant. Ursula comes in and says that Soledad sent her to collect her diary. Hugo gives it to her without a word. He goes into the hall and sees Alcides downstairs.
H: What are you doing in my house, Alcides? How did you get in?
A: The door was open.
H: You’ve come to make me pay for not sending me to jail at the party. What do you want in return?
A: I only want one thing. I want to talk about Soledad.
H: Listen, Alcides.
A: Not here. What I am going to tell you will change both our lives. Meet me in an hour at the cabaña in the woods. And Hugo, let no one know you saw me.
Ursula overhears this.

Ester tells Soledad that she should forget about Hugo. He has been telling her lies for months. Soledad says that she has a nerve talking about lying. She says that she found out that Hugo heard what Ester said to Manrique at Hugo’s velorio. Ester pretends that she doesn’t know what Soledad is talking about. Soledad says that she is tired of Ester’s lies. Because of her, Hugo was convinced that she married Alcides for money. Because of that, he tried to destroy her, because of that he deceived her all this time. He wanted to come back to me and I sent him away. I sent him away. Ester apologizes and says that she never wanted to hurt Soledad. She says that Soledad knows that she has only done things for her wellbeing. She has to get over this and move on. Soledad tells her to shut and stop telling her what to do. She doesn’t need her to tell her what to do. She says that she loves her mother and her family is very important to her but from now on, she will make her own decisions. Is that clear?

Eloisa tells Marina that she has to return to Hugo’s house. Marina says that she can’t go back. Paquito suggests that Marina tells her husband that she regrets her decision. Marina says that she doesn’t want to go to jail. Eloisa says that rich people never go to jail.

In the Obragon garden, Michelle says, “So this is the famous flower.” Dr. Dan says that it is ironic that all this time, her niece was hiding the flower that could save her daughter’s life. Antonia says that if what they have told her is true, little Aurora’s life is saved. She wants to go tell Soledad but Michelle says that they have to make sure they aren’t raising false expectations. From what happened in the park today, Soledad is suffering a lot, it wouldn’t be fair to raise her hopes until they are sure the cure works. Dr. Dan says that as soon as they have definite information, Soledad will be the first to know.

Ursula gives Soledad the diary. She says Hugo was reading it when she found him. Soledad asks her to leave her alone. She has lots of things to think about. Before she goes, Ursula tells Soledad about what she heard Alcides tell Hugo. She is afraid that it might be a trap and that Alcides will kill Hugo. “Let him be killed, then,” says Soledad, “I’m not going to lift a finger to stop it.” (We know that’s not true.)

Marina tells Eloisa that since she isn’t rich, there’s nothing to keep her from going to jail. Eloisa says that she is rich and she will make Marina her protégé. Paquito is intrigued. At this moment, Boris comes in and asks, “From whom and with what are you going to protect this woman?”

Arturo tells his posse of investors that with this suit for restitution and damages, they will not only get their investment back, they will put Hugo in the street.

Dr. Dan is running tests on the flower. Michelle finds a little piece of paper in one of his father’s books and gives it to him. He reads it, looks in the microscope and says that he understands everything. Here is the secret for a cure for catalepsy.

Hugo comes to the cabaña. Alcides says that he knew Hugo would show up.
H: What is the mystery? What do you want to say? What’s happening with Soledad?
A: I want to challenge you to a duel, brother.

H: Now I understand why you withdrew the charges. Because you didn’t want to let me be put in jail.
A: What are you talking about?
H: In one way you haven’t changed, Alcides. You still have the same hate for me. Listen to me brother. I won’t accept any duel to the death with you. I’m not going to kill you.
(He hands Alcides his g*n.) If you want to kill me, do it yourself.
A: (in English) The Peacemaker. (in Spanish) The famous Peacemaker. (He demonstrates his fancy g*n handling skills and hands the g*n back to an astonished Hugo.) Who said anything about death? I didn’t mention weapons. I wasn’t referring to a duel with pist*l or swords. (Soledad is listening outside) Brother, I’m referring to a duel of love.
H: I don’t understand you.
A: I challenge you to a duel for the love of Soledad.
H: You’ve already won. You’re married to her. My daughter is registered in your name.
A: I will fix those two things so that we are even. We’ll start from zero. We fight cleanly for the love of Soledad. Do you accept?
H: I accept.
Soledad comes in and says, “Good evening, Medinas (Señores Medinas).” Hugo and Alcides are impactados.

The credits roll.

Guapos: Wednesday 5/7/08 – Just when Al seems be getting his act together, along comes a spider...

We’re back at the rodeo where the dance competition is about to start. Marisela asks Bobby if he wants to dance and he tells her he’s not that great, but he’s getting the hang of it. Flo watches them go dance and looks all dejected. By the by, last night Mili told Al that even though she was still mad at him, she needed to dance. As far as she’s concerned, he’s still in the doghouse, but a girl’s gotta dance.

Back at Casa Belmonte, Luci tells Connie he’s going to pay ‘cause she’s gonna ruin him (she actually says “hundir” which means “to sink,” but we know what she means) as Nestor consoles her and asks Connie if the body’s at the morgue. Connie says yes, and he’s gonna throw the greatest funeral no matter what the cost. Luci tells him it’s too little, too late and calls him a murderer. But wait, in comes Damian...proving that it takes more than a quick swat to kill this cockroach.

The rodeo guy finishes his speech from two seconds ago telling the couples to get jiggy with it. Mili means business ‘cause she takes her hat off. As expected, the judge starts by eliminating couples that are extras in the show. This style is called the “Pasito Duranguense” (Little steps from Durango) and I saw a clip on You Tube of how they were rehearsing for this ‘cause it’s quite acrobatic. It’s a little like swing, but it has accordions.

Luci asks Damian que the hell, we found the note? He says he couldn’t go through with it ‘cause he’s a big ol’ coward. Luci demands Connie tell him the truth. He fesses up that Damian’s in perfect health, he just wanted to teach him a lesson, but he’s glad no harm no foul. Come on and gimme a hug! Damian’s all indignant and tells Connie he’s gone too far. Connie replies (I kid you not): “I can imagine how uncomfortable you must feel.” Really Connie, would you say it’s somewhere between lying on a pea that’s under 20 mattresses and a root canal kind of uncomfortable? Connie asks Nestor to leave so they can have a family powwow, but thanks for coming. They go to the study.

Bobby takes a dive, which is grounds for dismissal. Rocky follows in suit. Hey, Al and Mili are the last ones standing. I would never have guessed! The crowd cheers and calls out “Beso, beso” (kiss, kiss). Al and Mili look uncomfortable, but it looks like the audience will get their way until...Mafia princess Flo cuts in and asks for a recount ‘cause she didn’t get to dance. Mili tells her that’s her problem, but Flo taunts her with the old “you scared I’ll beat you?” Mili takes the bait and they clear the floor. Guess those years at ballet class paid off ‘cause Flo does splits and pirouettes and hey, she’s light enough for Al to lift her off the floor every few beats, all with perfectly pointed toes. Alas, poor Mili, they crown a new prom queen. Al gives Flo a double high five and she comes back with a big kiss. He shoves her off and asks her what gives? She says it’s ‘cause they won and he tells her to keep the prize, he’s not interested. I do a little snap. Al runs to Mili who berates him for bringing Flo into her world, the place she likes, and tells him she’ll never forgive him (until the next episode) just before running out. Al gets the triple shove as Mili, Gloria, and Lina, do their dramatic girlfriend exit. He runs after them as Flo looks out at her. Mili begins calling Flo the following: a cockroach, a worm, a rat, etc., and Gloria warns her she’s gonna run out of pests. Al catches up and the girls leave them to talk as they do the usual: "I’m sick of your excuses, I’m sick of you believing the worse” dance. Mili complains he kissed Flo and he explains she kissed him. They end in a tender moment as he tells her she’s the only one he thinks about and goes for a kiss. She pulls away and says she’s heard it all before and she’s not buying it. It’s kinda like the boy who cried wolf. He’s screwed up so much she can’t believe him when he’s actually trying to do right by her. Mili tells him they haven’t ruined her night ‘cause she’s going back in and finding herself a new dance partner.

Connie asks Damian how long he’s known ‘cause he ain’t buying the suicide bit. The caretaker told them they found a body and since it ain’t Damian’s chances are Damian paid the guy off. The best laid plans of mice... Luci now turns on her bro who just starts to mumble that he’s been suffering thinking he was gonna die, a few hours for them to think he killed himself are not that big a deal. Luci slaps him and tells them both they make her sick and storms out. Connie starts laughing and Damian asks him if he was really worried. Connie says you should’ve seen my face, though it wasn’t as good as the one you made when you thought you had the tumor. They have a little “oh you got me good” moment. It’s actually funny in a disturbing kind of way.

Flo complains to sis how Al left her for that “gata” (female cat). He split and just left her there. Hey wait, he’s back, and Flo tells him they gotta talk. They step over to the taco stand. We pan to Mili’s table where Morgan offers to get some “alambre” (shish kebob in this case, the word actually means “wire”) tacos on the house to celebrate Mili’s win ‘cause she was robbed! Mili thanks him, but she’s not hungry at the moment. Morgan and Chamuco go back to work. The girls ask Mili if she forgave Al and she says nope, she’s gonna dance and forget. We pan to a couple of guys. Turns out one of them (his name is Mateo) will be getting married soon and his buddy is making the bachelor party a lengthy affair. He’s not too happy with the place, but he’ll humor his friend. I think I’ve seen this movie before...once with Cameron Diaz, and the one with Julia Stiles, and wasn’t there one Dean Cain? I digress...Mateo spots Mili and his buddy likes her too. The bachelor figures the single man should do the dancing. Sleazy friend grabs Mili and tries to dance with her, but she’s not amused. Mateo calls for Eric (I think that’s the name he calls him) to leave her alone. The buddy says it will take a kiss, and our dashing bachelor punches his own friend for the maiden’s honor. He kisses her hand and introductions are made.

Al tells Flo he doesn’t get her. One minute she says she’s not ready to date again and the next her dad is booking the hall. She tells him to pay him no mind and Al tells her to get dad off his back. He’s fond of her and would like to be friends, but that’s it. He asks what’s with the kiss and she says she was just happy to dance and got carried away. She didn’t mean for his maid to get jealous. Al asks her not to be so contemptuous. She apologizes again and offers to apologize to Mili. They go back inside and Al glances at Rocky and Chamuco who’ve heard the whole thing. Al now goes up to the dancing Mili and asks to talk. Mateo asks if Al’s bothering her and she says “yeah, but “perro que ladra no muerde” (a barking dog doesn’t bite) and Mateo tells him to scram. Al gets in Mat’s face and they start a verbal pissing contest. Flo pulls Al away telling him not to dirty his hands with the riff raff. They exit and Bobby and Marisela follow. Mat asks Mili where that guy was from and she tells him not to worry about him, but now they’re even: Mat saved her from his friend and she saved him from blondie. Mat says they’re hardly even since he could’ve taken Al with one punch. She blows him off and exits. He smiles.

Outside the Rodeo, Mat runs after Mili who calls him a big flirt. He says no, “I just wanna clear up the tie business, I saved you from a guy.”

Mili: “Your friend!”

Mat: “Yeah, but he was miguided.”

Mili: “Well I saved you from another who was more misguided.”

Mat: “I told you, I’d leave him in on the floor.”

Mili’s not amused and asks why men are always trying to show who’s more macho. Mat says that this wasn’t the case and she says it always is and can’t figure out if it’s supposed to be the one that hits the hardest. He tells her she amuses him. She says her signature “Al Diablo con los Guapos” and begins to storm off, but he grabs her hand and tells her he’d hate to see her leave. She tells him about the “menso” (idiot, simpleton, etc. Incidentally, the female for this is “mensa,” kinda like the genius organization – I always get a kick out of that) that just left who’s hateful and boastful. “Wanna know the difference between you two? He’s a blonde, and you’re a brunette.” She finally walks off and he smiles again. He’s a goner.

Domingo visits Flo and asks what’s the problem? Al? He asks if he should call off the wedding and she says no, turn the screws on him and Connie, but don’t tell him I asked you to. She bats her eyelashes and her dad can’t say no.

Mili visits mom’s old house and she caresses the window sill and the floor tiles, as if tracing her mom’s steps. The two elderly folks look on. I will now take a moment to say how happy I am to see Jorge Arvizu (Pepe, the old deaf guy). Although it looks like a tiny throw away part, it’s just great to see a comedic legend perform. He’s performed a lot of roles, but his most famous, which became a stock character for him, was an old guy with disheveled gray hair and a checkered robe called “el Tata.” I think he was only in his 30s when he began playing it. Anywhoo, on with the show. Mili apologizes, and the old woman says it’s understandable. Pepe says it’s been for sale for months. It’s large and has a basement. Mili repeats “it has a sótano (basement)” and the guy says “no, not a tuétano (bone marrow) a sótano” and it’s still full of the old junk from previous “moradores” (dwellers). The old lady refers to them as “habitantes” (inhabitants, residents). He begins a dissertation of how stuff gets piled up and Mili asks to go to the basement. We have another deaf discourse as he thinks she asked for the bathroom, but the old lady corrects him. They take her down.

Braulio serves Regi some coffee and she’s gushing ‘cause the PM just registered Mili for high school. PM explains she’ll be taking afternoon classes so they won’t interfere with her work. She’s starting this very afternoon. Braulio wants to go congratulate her, but Regi informs him that she’s over at her mom’s old house again.

Back at the basement, Mili looks around and asks if they can leave her “a solas” (alone). Pepe starts talking about the famous Waltz “Sobre Las Olas” (Over the Waves – it’s by Juventino Rosas and gets played at almost every wedding and quinceañera in México) and begins humming it. The woman tells him that was 100 years ago and he complains that he’s not 100 years old, he just looks old. She interjects that Mili wants to be alone and he’s concerned the boy (he’s apparently also blind and those clothes aren’t exactly flattering) ‘cause he might try to steal something. Mili asks if she looks like a “rata” (literally rat, but it’s also short for “ratero(a) which means thief). He replies she looks like a lizard and the woman escorts him upstairs before Mili can throw a tantrum. They continue their discussion about how dust can affect his allergies (he thinks she means “alegría” or “joy”) and he mentions how odd this boy looks). Mili spies a lidded cardboard box with star stickers and a white dress with a ribbon pattern on it.

Over at the office, Connie and Domingo are awaiting Al in the presidential office to talk about the wedding date. Domingo prefers Friday nights so they don’t last all day and they can stay up late. Connie prefers Saturday afternoons ‘cause they’re more colorful and they don’t have to go too late. Al has something to say. Domingo says he’s listening and opens his jacket to reveal his little friend (the gun, not the other kind) and Al nervously replies that either an evening or an afternoon is the same to him.

We now see Braulio caressing the window seat and the floor tiles of his boyhood home. Pepe comments that they all keep doing the same thing, it’s like they’re massaging the floor. The woman says they must be looking for a “tesoro” (treasure) and he asks what “loro” (parrot, macaw) since they don’t have a “perico” (another word for parrot) one. The woman asks Braulio if she knows him ‘cause his face looks awfully familiar. He tells them he’s looking for a girl. The woman asks if it’s Milagros and the old man asks if Braulio makes “milagros” (miracles). They ignore him and Braulio asks if she’s still there just as she walks up the stairs with the box and the dress. So much for her not taking anything, but they don’t seem to object. Braulio tells her Regi sent for her and she shows him what she found in the basement. He looks pained and impactado all at once. She says she’s sure it was her mom’s. She tells him someday she will buy that house.

Carla reminds Damian of all the nice things he told her before, including that he’d marry her. He says it’s just ‘cause he thought he was dying. He tells her to just pretend he was really drunk. She tells him she liked him better when he was dying.

Lina and Gloria try to sneak a peek at Milis’ box of many stars. She scolds them because it’s hers alone and she hasn’t had a chance to open it. They ask if she’ll show them later and she says she will, but the first peek is hers alone. Carla comes in and they try to kick her out, but she says it’s her room too and she needs to take a shower (I’d need one too after slobbering with sleazy Damian) and Gloria comments how she’ll be there a good half an hour. The girls leave Mili to her privacy.

Braulio enters Connie’s office and tells him he brought Mili back. Connie asks him to continue spying on her. He asks if she spoke to anyone at the house and Braulio tells him about the old woman who told Mili about the little girl and her older brother, himself. Luckily she couldn’t remember the names, though she came close to recognizing Braulio. Connie yells he ought to kill him. But wait, there’s more: Mili wants to buy the house. Connie asks when this nightmare will end and Braulio says not anytime soon ‘cause she found some stuff in the basement: A box and a child’s dress that he recognized as Rosario’s. Connie suggests he start writing his eulogy. Braulio says they need to see what’s in the box before it’s too late.

Mili sits on her bunk, staring at the box she still can’t bring herself to open. She’ll have to wait ‘cause Braulio’s at the door and she’s gotta catch the bus to school. Actually, he’s driving her, but you get the point. He wishes her luck and helps her off the bunk; then takes a longing look at the starry box before exiting.

Flo thanks her mob daddy and he says he couldn’t get her Friday night like she wanted ‘cause the groom’s family had a say. How dare they!!?? She asks if Al got difficult and dad says no, but he didn’t look happy. She reminds him to keep her out of it or Al will kill her! In this case, it would be figurative unlike her dad’s literal killing. Doorbell rings and it’s the devil they spoke of. Al needs to talk and Domingo might as well hear it. He says he was a coward this morning, but now he’ll tell him in front of his daughter that he’s not marrying her. Domingo gets pissed and Al says he can kill him right now if he wants. About time the boy got some guts. Then again, he probably figured dad wouldn’t kill him in front of Flo.

Connie lurks outside the girls’ dorm, knocks at the door and then sneaks in. He sees the starry box and goes to open it, but Carla walks in wearing nothing but a towel (which she drops) after her shower (she didn’t wash her hair). He says he just came in to see her and she points out that he can see her alright.

Class is about to start. The teacher’s our friend Mateo Robledo, the soon to be married boy Mili met last night. He tells his class they will have a new student today and they should do what they can to help her catch up. He asks if they remember yesterday’s topic (nobody does). Principal walks in with Mili. Mateo sees her and is impactado.

After a word from our sponsors, Mili says hi to her buddy and asks if he goes there too. In a way, he’s the philosophy teacher. She’s amused ‘cause he doesn’t look like one. Who would have thunk it after he was raising hell at the rodeo....Needless to say, the class is very amused and our poor teacher will never live it down. He asks her to take a seat and to tell him her name. She gives him grief for not remembering after he said it so many times last night: “Wait Mili! Don’t leave Mili!” He points her to her seat and she starts saying hi to all her new classmates. The principal says he’s leaving and hopes he can keep order in his class. Mat gulps and gets started. It’s going to be a long semester...

Domingo chews out Al for humiliating his daughter. Al says he never meant to, but he won’t let Domi run his life like he’s a puppet. Flo asks daddy to leave them alone. He gives Al many looks that could kill. Flo tells Al she’s sorry about her dad, but she swears...Al ain’t hearing it. If he can’t make her see they can only be friends, it’s best that they stop seeing each other at all. She asks him to hear her out and he tells her he doesn’t want to give her false hope, nor does he want to deal with her dad’s threats. He leaves and she tells the air he’s not getting rid of her that easily.

Towel-wearing Carla asks Connie if he really thinks she’s beautiful. She then tells him she’s like a fine restaurant: here’s the menu, what would you like? Lina walks in and asks what’s up.

Val writes in her diary that she’s in love with Morgan. She doesn’t know or care how it happened, but every time she sees him she wants to jump him. Rocky conveniently walks by and asks if she has any plans. She asks him what he did to change her? He says she looks the same to him. She tells him to come see her in her room when everyone’s asleep. He crashes on the floor and she walks up the stairs, turning every few steps to look at him adoringly. He sprays himself with cologne in case it’s not a dream and takes a puff from his inhaler.

Carla tries to kick Lina out and Connie decides he better leave. He was discussing the menu with Carla and scurries away. Lina stares at Carla who asks if she’s got cartoons on her face. Lina replies that “Naca Fácil” (a naca that’s also easy, loose) doesn’t begin to cover it. Now that the patrón has left, she can tell her she’s a ...Carla stops her and tells her she’ll pay. Carla returns to the bathroom and Lina leaves the room.

Regi takes her pills and breathes with some difficulty. Things don’t bode well. Al walks in and asks where Mili is. Regi informs him that it’s her first day of high school! Braulio announces her lawyer is here. She asks Alex to leave them alone and then clutches her chest. Chest pains, Lawyers, Methinks granny’s not long for this world. I hope I’m wrong ‘cause I like her, but all signs point in that direction.

Mari consoles Flo. She’s furious he preferred the brute. She feels humiliated and devalued. Mari feels guilty for pushing her and Flo says it’s her own fault for letting herself fall in love like an idiot. Mari recommends she forget him and Flo says it’s too late. She needs him and will fight with all her weapons. I hope she means figuratively, but ya never know if daddy taught his little girl to shoot.

Tomorrow: Mat tells Mili she helped him make and important decision – he’s not getting married! Guess it was about time Mili got another love interest considering Al keeps finding them. Hope this one doesn’t turn out to be a psycho! He also has the same last name as Regi's lawyer, so ya never know...

Val and Rocky get ready for their night of romance.

Regi tells her lawyer she wants Mili to be her universal heir. This part confuses me ‘cause I thought they’d already done that, but maybe we’re talking about the whole kit n’ kaboodle instead of just 20%, but I thought he said there was a problem giving more than that to a non-relative. Guess we’ll wait and see.

Juan Q - Wed 5-7-08 - Try though he might, the devil can't change himself into something he isn't..

Just a brief forward. Readers, just want to make sure that you all know that you can scroll down the home page and see every blog posted within at least the last week. You can also click on the label at the end of a recap for the show you want and it will bring you to all recaps that have the same tag label. Finally, you can click over on the link on the sidebar and get the links for that showthrough an outside website, Delicious.

Know though, that each of the shortcuts to recaps or tagging links have to be added separately, and often times are added at a time later than when the original recap was posted to the blog. The most current and best way to see what has been posted most recently is to scroll down the Caray Caray home page and see if a new post for your Novela is there. That way you know you aren't missing anything. Often a post is there, but just hasn't been linked up yet to the tagged shortcuts. Thanks.

This recap is dedicated to my cousin who, though full of life, passed away last week, much too young.

Pau tells Sandro that they tried to save their marriage many times, but it was impossible. She doesn’t want to talk about it. She wonders why he’s got such an accusing tone as he asks her if maybe she’s feeling guilty. He apologies and agrees to change the subject.

Juan laments that his Palomita is eating with another and thought he wouldn’t be jealous anymore. He worries if this stranger will be the man of her dreams. He tells himself to calm down that what will be will be she’ll be his or she won’t.

Pau and Sandro continue chatting, not very amicably it seems. She thinks he seems different than before. He suggests that maybe they talk about him to change the subject. Of course his favorite topic!!

She thinks he surely has a girlfriend and he says nope no luck in love. She says he has wonderful qualities, so soon he’ll find someone for sure. He wants to ask her a question and she says depends, and he on what. She says that a poorly placed question could be the beginning of a very bad relationship and that’s not the idea is it? He says no, but he’s willing to risk it. He wonders if her betrayal led his brother to take such drastic measures. She says of course not, why do you ask, and he says, well, you are so beautiful so of course you would have opportunities and she gets irritated.

She tells him that it was actually Monica’s selling of the shares. CL was not the picture of perfection anyway, rather of deception. She eventually tells him she doesn’t feel comfortable talking about this with him as a stranger. She tells Sandro he seemed and looked different before but today reminds her more of CL. He wants to ask another question. She’s almost had it at this point, but of course lets him do it. He wants to know why Dominguez is going around chasing them.

Marely yells at Juan for interrupting her to ask silly questions about whether Pau is back or not.
In another restaurant, over another conversation, Profe tells Nid his wife left him today. She feels for him, especially if she had something to do with it. He thinks that her presence was coincidental, that his problems were deeper and maybe she just drew the final straw. Nid says she’ll go to tell the wife that they are only friends, but he says no, nevermind, he thinks if he chats with Pepita maybe they can resolve their differences.

Pau tells Sandro she doesn’t know what's up with Juan, and that’s the first time he's done this, so maybe he wanted to protect her from strangers, and essentially tells Sandro to ask Juan that question, that she doesn’t know. They get the check and on the way out, 20 questions man asks yet another. IS there more between you and Juan than just being Socios? Pau looks at him in disgust with an eye roll that she is soooo good at.

She tells him she’s not answering because it’s none of his business. She tells him to knock it off and he says, ok fine, let’s be friends.

Dona Pepita shows up to see Juanito. He’s excited but tells her she doesn’t look well, and she tells him he shouldn’t say such things to a woman. Pepita goes in to see Juan and is crying. He doesn’t like seeing her cry and sees she’s a kind creature under her hard shell. She tells him Lorenzo is seeing another woman and asks if she’s younger and more beautiful, she knows he saw the woman. Juan says to himself he’s going to lie, and he couldn’t see her well, but she was carrying the ugly stick. Pepita wonders if he knows a good lawyer. He says no, the only one he knows he wouldn’t recommend to his worst enemy. She is mad and thinks he is deliberately not helping him.

Anga sees Nid and yells at her to come. She gets back in the taxi and rushes off.

Back at the office Marely tells Pau that she likes Sandro, and to back off because she saw him first. Pau tells her no worries there, he’s creepy. He asked me personal questions and at times she felt like she was actually with CL. Marely thinks she’s just normally nervous because he’s identical to CL. She says she doesn’t like this. Mar accuses her of being like Juan now with her feelings, oh and he asked about you a million times. Pau tells her that he followed her, etc.

Fer tells Juan Pau is back. He rushes out to get her and Fer warns against it, that this will come back to bite him. He tells him to tolerate this and just hang tight. Juan finally backs down and agrees he’s right.

Pau and Mar are still chatting and Pau thinks maybe they should discard Sandro. Mar thinks that’s silly based just on feelings to get rid of a perfect candidate. But Pau thinks she’s almost convinced but something still bothers her. Just then Juan knocks and they discuss Sandro’s employment. He begs to speak first and tells her Sandro is perfect for the position, and she’s right so lets get him on board. She says she was just thinking maybe they should listen to his feelings. He is surprised and tells her now that feelings aren’t everything and that they should give Sandro a chance after all. She is impactada and I think makes the Cat’s Ass Mouth again.

OK, what’s up with the bikini shot before the commercial cut?

Anga is telling Yadi that he’s pretty sure that he saw Nid. Yadi wonders if he was sure and he says he’s worried because if it wasn’t her something could have happened. Yadi wonders what could have happened she’s only a little delayed. He remarks that she could have swallowed a fish bone and gotten it stuck in her throat. She’s been gone for three hours, and was late arriving and this is her first day! Yadi tells him he should go home and relax and watch a movie on TV and anyway should relax because if he keeps worrying something will happen and he’ll end up dead.

He agrees and says if she sees Nid, tell her he loves her, loves to kill her that is.

Delirio is pounding the pavement and passing out flyers for hiring him as a lawyer. He is nearly assaulting people to give them out.

Pau tells Mar of Juan’s change of heart. She thinks she has no choice now but to hire Sandro. Mar thinks that’s good for her, since Mar likes him.

Juan tells his mate Fer that the plan has been executed perfectly to the mission impossible theme. He says but now they have to hire him and that wasn’t what he wanted. Fer thinks he carried it too far, that he was only supposed to avoid jealousy and act with indifference. Fer now is upset because that means that now he won’t get the job. Fer is not afraid of the dead, but the very much alive. Juan offers to help think of something to get them out of this, but Fer begs him not to help.

The police approach Perafan and arrest him for soliciting in front of the justice hall.

Juan says he’s supposedly working but all he can do is think of his Palomita. All of a sudden she comes in and he tells her they need to stop this game and proclaim their true feelings of love to each other, she agrees and tells him she loves him. They move in for a kiss and we hear snores and the yelling of Heriberto, today dressed like the Oscar Meyer Wiener man, for him to wake up.

Juan wonders where his Palomita is and is mad at Heri. Heri says there’s no bird here. He wants to talk to Juan about helping out Gaytan. Juan thinks that’s a good idea, they’d make a great team and that from now on Heri will be his secretary in particular. Heri likes the sound of that. Poor Heri.

Juan visits Lorenzo and tells him what Pepita said. He asks if Nid has something to do with this.

At the Cachon house Yadi and Kike berate Nid for messing around with her employment. She said she got scared when she saw Anga so she fled. They want to know where she was. She says she was with Ana but they say no way. She spills that she was with Lorenzo. They are impactados. Just then Delirio marches in and proclaims he’s the lawyer of the hour, that soon he will have millions of clients.

Just then Pepita walking on the street receives a word from God in the form of Delirio’s flyer.

Juan talks to Lorenzo about seeing Nid and he confesses that he’s interested in Nid and is willing to risk his marriage for it.

Back at Casa Cachon, Yadi is trying to talk her out of it that she has Perafan eating out of her hand and poor Anga who breathes for her, so now she’s changed lights and wants this other guy? She tells her at least Anga deserves her candor and apology.

Anga tells Gaytan over dinner what Nid pulled today. Pastor counsels Anga that he needs to take a drastic measure like firing Nid to get her in line.

Pau gets home and sees a huge bouquet of flowers. Ana hands her the card and of course they are from Sandro.

Nid calls Anga and tells him her day was horrible. She says she got a last minute call and had to run off to help them out, but it won’t happen again. Anga, getting egged on by Pastor tells her, yes, this will be the last because she is fired. She begs that it was an emergency. He says he understands and she can now have all the time she needs to tend to emergencies. She says well he loses because he won’t see her anymore.

Ivonne comes down the stairs and sees the flowers and wonders who they are from, and learns from Sandro. Ana begins her usual skepticism.

In the apartment Sandro thinks maybe it was too soon to send flowers. CL says he needs to know if she remembers him and most of all if there is anything between her and that nagual (sorceror) Juan. He admits she didn’t answer and he doesn’t know. He gets mad at Sandro’s questioning of his methods and swears that though Pau painted him out as a villain, the real villain will show when he gets his revenge and she is begging him for his love. He gets starry eyes, as if drunk with evil.

Fuego, Wed., May 7: Mr. Ed ain't got nothin' on Bernie's horse.

Buenas noches a todos. Thank you to everyone for your kind comments and warm welcome. I am very happy to be a part of the recapping team. Well, on with the show…!

So we start the evening with Sarita and Jimena arguing in the garden. “How can you kiss that guy? You hardly know him!” “Well, you know, kissing is a way to get to know someone.” “No way sister, you’re going to have to confess to Father Tadeo.” “But I’ll give him a heart attack if I tell him what I was doing with Oscar! And by the way, thanks for distracting mom.” Jimena continues to tell Sarita how wonderful it is to be in the arms of the strong and masculine Oscar. “You know, Oscar says that all three of the Reyes brothers are single. Therefore you can go out with Franco!” Sarita sighs and suddenly loosens up. “Well, we were talking yesterday: he is so simple and likes to read… (Sure doesn’t take much to please this one!) “I knew it girl! Now both of us are going to have to confess!” Sarita goes back to her frigid self.

At the construction site the bros are talking about how they like the sisters. Oscar tells Franco about how much he likes Jimena. Franco says, “Just make sure you are respecting her and that she agrees to be with you.” “I know, I’m pretty sure she does. She is good. And how’s it going with you and Sarita?” “Well, we were talking…” “Just talking?” “Hey, I’m not like you, and Sarita ain’t like Jimena!” “Well, the least you can do is hug her. And what about you Juan, how are you getting close to Sofia?” “What do you care?” asks Juan. Father Tadeo approaches and asks the bros why they aren’t going to church. Juan decides that for what seems to be the first time in a long time that the bros are going to give the church thing a go. “Thanks for caring about us so much Father” says Juan.

In the battle tents (a.k.a. Gramps’ room) Gramps is with Gabby. She wants to know who let him out of his room yesterday. “Angels” he says. “Ah, well, if I find out who these ‘angels’ are, you’re going to be in a lot of trouble.” “And if you try anything, I’m going to embarrass you in public. You decide which one you want more.” He moves the troops into battle. Gabby gets mad and marches out. “What are you doing?” Apparently she has a plan to get back at her dad for being well-liked and friendly to the public.

Back at project cabaña the brothers are “working” with water-logged lumber. Sofia passes on horseback and gives Juan a good look.

Hubby asks a farm hand where she went and tells the guy to follow her immediately on horseback. What was she thinking riding her horse in her own backyard?!

Juan sees this and gives Fernando a look of contempt.

Gabby is talking to Father Tadeo, who is thrilled with the success of the fundraiser. It’s really going to help out with the public programs. “Good job planning everything. Sofia is such a good girl. And what about that guy who represented Hacienda Agustin? What a guy!” “I didn’t invite him, nor do I know who did” she rolls her eyes. “Well I did!” “How!” “I saw him working in the fields.” “On Sunday?! On the day of rest!” she’s disgusted that anyone would work on a Sunday.

Sofia’s on horseback. And no, she is not riding side-saddled even though she has a dress on. New aged women… She’s thinking about the one time that she ever saw Juan. “Why doesn’t my body reject him? Why is it different with him? Why don’t I care that Juan touches me? Yet I freak-out when Fernie touches me? Why?” (Because Fernie is a pervert.) Fernie then comes up to Sofia on horseback and demands to know what she is doing here. “Uh, dad always said this would be a good place to plant chiles… I would like to fulfill his wishes.” “I’ll have someone do it immediately.” “No, I’d like to do it myself.” Bernardo’s horse, which seems to have a human personality and understands everything that is going on, gets angered with Fernie’s presence. (You see, Mr. Ed could hold conversations, but this horse can interpret situations and act accordingly!) “Seems like dad’s horse is a little flustered with your presence.” “Naw, it’s crazy. But anyway, I wanted to talk to you about last night.” “Yeah, about that, just divorce me because I hate you, don’t love you, can’t stand you, etc.” He refuses a divorce and tries to kiss her. She rejects him, can’t stand his presence. While she is fighting with him she falls to the ground and attempts to wriggle away from his grasp. He then uses her leg to crawl up her body and starts to grope her. “Let go of me!” He doesn’t. Suddenly, the cute little animations signal Sofia’s memory of her rape. She remembers when she was walking along by herself and her aggressor attacked her. Sofia notices the tattoo of a snake as she meekly mutters “Help.” Back in reality she continues to yell at Fernando and has a sort of epiphany, which alludes to Fernie being the rapist.

Gabby is talking with the bros. “Thanks for representing our hacienda in yesterday’s events, but no one does anything without my authorization, and much less my employees.” How dare anyone do something nice for her without her permission!

Sofia races in on horseback as she dramatically escapes Fernie who is chasing her.

“Okay, we get that you’re the boss around here. We just wanted to make things a little fun for a change. But, we recognize that you make the rules.” She leaves. Then gramps comes in. “I see that you escaped Sister Storm. And thanks for freeing me yesterday.” “No problem gramps” says the ever-skeptic Juan. “Well, lucky for you guys, I know a little about construction. So, if you ever need any help, just come on over.” Gramps then takes a puff on his Sherlock Holmes pipe. (Evidently gramps understands that you can't build a brick foundation directly on the grass and with no mortar.) Uh oh, here come the horse racers. Juan instinctively looks toward Sofia. He thinks that Sofia has never ridden a horse before and doesn’t know how to stop the thing. So, being the hero machista that he is, he runs after it and simply yells “Ha” and Bernie’s horse stops. Sofia is frightened; apparently she forgot that she was making the horse run in the first place. “Are you okay” ask Juan and Fernie simultaneously. “Don’t ever touch me again” says a disgruntled Sofia to Fernando. Juan gives Fernie a mean glance, but doesn’t dare say anything because Fernie is his employer.

Sofia goes off to her room crying.

Back outside, Gramps thanks Juan. (Was that for telling the horse to stop, of for ignoring Grandpa as the horse was charging at him?) “Juan ya’ gotta be more careful” says Franco. “Remember, we’re not here to make friends, we’re here to hurt these girls, it was our oath to our sister” says Oscar. “Yeah” says Franco. Juan contemplates (never a good sign). “You’re right, you’re right” says Juan. “Damn it!” he says and stomps off. (I think that these guys forget what their true objective is here. For some reason, Juan thought that it would be a good idea to “hurt” the Agustin girls, but this plan was never really planned out because they actually like the girls and then remember that they don’t. Does this make sense to anyone else?)

Gabby and Fernie are talking in the office. “I’m desperate” says Fernando. I love Sofia, protect her, and respect her. But she rejects me, humiliates me, etc.” “I’ll talk to her seriously” says Gabby, who never wants her right hand man to leave her by herself (weird, I know). Fernando finally comes to his senses and reasons that he will divorce Sofia. “No no no, we don’t need any more family scandals” says Gabby. “No way” she asserts “Well, I’m tired of fighting and being rejected. I’ll just end it.” Now Gabby’s the desperate one…

Sofia is talking to Jimena. “I just don’t love him and I can’t give him any more chances.” “Well, just separate yourself from him.” “I want to, but mom won’t let me. I’m just condemned to be sad for the rest of my life. I will never meet love.” “Hey, don’t think that. If you found a man who loved you and made your life happy, would you love him even if he were poor?” asks Jimena who is thinking about her own relationship out loud. “Well, I think I would” responds a heartbroken Sofia.

Now it looks like all the bros constructed today is a wobbly wall of stacked bricks. Why does nothing get done around here? Oh, that’s right, they are choreographing sabotage. Well, that wraps up one day of work…
Juan has to stay back and talk to someone. The bros call him back. He reassures them that he remembers what they all set out to do.

Back at the “Hooters in the middle of nowhere” Rosario is on the ground cringing at the sight of Fernie with his shirt off. Oh no! It’s the same snake tattoo that Sofia saw when she was being raped. Why has no one ever realized this obvious link that undoubtedly convicts Fernando of Sofia’s rape? Rosario cries…

Sofia is contemplating as Juan barges in. He needs to see her. “Sofia…” He touches her face and looks into her eyes. He assumes the kissing position… They share a passionate kiss. Surprisingly, Sofia is not afraid of this man. She steps away and realizes what has happened. “You shouldn’t have kissed me.” “Why not if I love you.” “No, it can’t be, I’m not a free woman.” “I know, I’m reminded of it all the time.” “Well, still, it shouldn’t have happened.” Juan has a flashback of Libia’s presumably illegal and certainly unorthodox burial. He has the look of a killer as her remembers his oath to harm the Agustin girls. “You’re right, it shouldn’t have happened, but it did. We can flee to our destiny.” He hurts her with his embrace. She buckles under his arms. “Never come back here and touch me again.” “Oh, but I will, its part of my oath.” “What oath?” she asks. Mom calls and Juan leaves just as mysteriously as he came.

Inspection time at Camp Grandpa. Juan is climbing down the house pillars. But don’t worry, gramps is on the case and ready to investigate as the devil…whatever that means…He rushes to his wardrobe and pulls out a flaming red something-or-other.

“And don’t ever ask me to leave you alone again” says a dressing Fernie in the Hooters place. Rosario is in pain. “Please let me go.” “No, in life, there are paths that don’t have return, so you’re at my mercy for the rest of your life.” “No, just let me have my son.”“No, you don’t deserve him, and if you act up, your son will pay the consequences. But hey, at least you have his picture.” He throws the picture of her son on the floor and Rosario cries…

Gabby is now reproaching Sofia for even considering divorce. “He was the only one who cared for you after your rape.” Gee, would that be because he was the only one who raped her? “But I can’t stand him. I’m not happy.” “Hey, Fernie has taken a lot of your crap and it stops now!” “But he doesn’t have to, he can simply divorce me.” “Never!” “Well, I’ll just have to escape from this damn prison that you keep me and my sisters in.” Gabby goes to slap Sofia but is stopped by the almighty voice of Agustin. Agustin’s entrance is introduced by that corky, loveable music. He is decked out in his devil’s costume, complete with the fire poker and pointed horns. “Hey, you get out of here” demands Gabby. “No way, even though I’m dressed with horns and a poker I’m still your father.” “You’re like a curse that never goes away.” “Well of course I’m a curse; I’m your very own personal devil.” “One day you will pay for everything that you have made me suffer for.” Gabby storms out. “How sorry I am for you for having a mother like her. Is there anything you want to talk to me about? You know, I have this cap that allows me to be helpful in times like these….”

Oscar and Franco, the self-acclaimed “we don’t know how to work” brothers, are relaxing by the wobbly wall/structure. “Where is Juan?” “Well, I’m just worried that he’s always in problems” says Franco. Oscar then approaches Jimena who is conveniently waiting by. Jimena claims that her heart has ached as she has not been near Oscar. “Well, we’ll have to get closer to see what exactly is wrong with it” says Oscar, as he forces his head into her ever-exposed breasts. “No let’s just kiss instead” she says.

Franco finds Sarita reading by his horse. He surprises her as he presents her with a rose. “Please go away, my mom might be around.” “Nah, nobody’s coming.” Sarita starts to read a poem and Franco finishes it by memory/the writing on his hands. Interesting… “I’ve always wanted to fall in love” says Sarita. “Have you ever been in love?” she asks. Franco thinks about Rosario. “Yes. Actually, I’m in an impossible love.” A discouraged Sarita blushes.

In the smoke-filled back room of Fernie’s office he confesses to his crony that he has Gabby eating out of his hand. “She is blindly confident in me and listens to everything I say.” They laugh. He whips his friend for laughing. “Now that I have more power and land, I’m going to need you to be around more…to watch things.”

Sofia is talking to gramps. “I’m not going to force you to talk, but you can always count on me. What is going on with you and that boy?” Pause. Sofia cries in her grandpa’s arms. “I’m so unhappy with Fernie. I hate him and don’t love him. I want to separate from him but mom won’t let me. I can’t continue like this, I can’t.” “I promise that I will help you to leave this house for good honey. Trust in me. It’ll all be okay.” Sofia then remembers her last kiss with Juan. “Why? Why?” she asks.
Sarita is walking her horse. She confesses to Jimena that Franco is in an impossible love. “Well, I’m sure that you are that impossible love” says Jimena. Sarita suddenly cheers up. Too bad that Sarita really isn’t that love.

Franco is walking along and remembers the time that he wasn’t allowed to talk to Rosario. He decides to go and find her.

Gabby is talking to Fernie and tells him that there won’t be anymore problems with that darn heathen Sofia. He proposes that he leave. “No way” says Gabby. “Just know that I have decided to put all of the family fortune in your hands.” Wow, what an idiot. But then again, Gabby will do anything to keep Fernie from leaving, because as we know from the first episode, he is the only one who understands *cough* puts up with her. “I don’t know, seems kind of…” “Hey, I make the decisions around here, and you are the new owner-guy.” “Well, I wanted to wait a little longer for Bernie’s death to pass over but…” Seeing that he already took things into his own hands illegally, it’s just more convenient this way. He smiles as he thinks about this.

Juan is in the bakery, I know, not good. He takes a bite of bread and remembers Sofia. I don’t know why. “I can’t fall in love because that would mean breaking my promise to Libia. No, I don’t love Sofia.” He takes out his anger on the bread and throws the fresh loaves to the ground. Being the economist he is, he brushes them off and puts them back on the trays; actually, he doesn’t brush them off. I guess the health codes are a little less stringent in Mexico… Oscar sees this and immediately recognizes it as Juan being in love. “You can’t go on like this; it’s not fair to our sister.” “I just can’t stop.” Because it’s something stronger than me.” “Ah, you can’t stop? Well, I guess you can stop loving our sister.” OUCH! What’s going to hurt more: Oscar’s remark, or the food poisoning from the Reyes Bread Co.?

Sofia is condoling Bernie’s horse. The sisters decide that the horse is moody because it misses dad. (I am confident that one day this horse will talk!) They all remember how much they love their father and how horrible their mother is. Well, everyone but Sarita who tells them to stop. Sofia continues to say that she knows that Bernie loved Libia and that they should go find her. Too late now... The farmhand, who was supposed to go find Sofia and never did, comes into the stables with the trophy that Juan threw away. Sofia takes it to… uh… give it to Juan. Or maybe just keep it for her shrine of Juan.

Gabby is at the Church. “How good you are” says Father Tadeo. She laughs because she knows it’s not true. A woman comes to thank her and she pushes her away. They’re not from her class, you see. She turns around to Father and reminds him that she has to confess to him later on. “But what sins could you possibly have?” he asks. No, that question is not a joke. Gabby coyly smiles and enters the church. Then, Sofia sees the three bros come into the plaza on horseback. She observes Juan lovingly and gives a hopeful sigh.

La Traición, Tues., May 6 - It's my party and I'll crow if I want to

As Alcides get out of his carriage, Soledad utters that famous novela line, “No puede ser!” – “It can’t be! It’s impossible!” Looking at Alcides. she says, “Hugo.” Lots of reaction shots of people at the fiesta. Behind her, Hugo says, “I can explain. Let me explain.” Still looking at Alcides, Soledad says, “Hugo, it’s you,” and moves towards him. “We thought you were dead.” Hugo tries to stop her, “Don’t go!” he says urgently. But she runs to Alcides and when she gets close to him, she recognizes that he is Alcides.
S: (to Hugo who is white as a sheet and looks like he was hit by a truck) You? You? It was always you? Hugo. You were here all along and you never said a word? Why?
A: (from behind her) I don’t need to explain anything to you.
H: (swallows with difficulty). I am Hugo. Soledad. I am Hugo.
More crowd reaction shots. Soledad stares at him with horror. Arturo can’t believe it. He says, “Hugo passed as Alcides and fooled everyone.”
S: (to Hugo) Why? Why did you lie to me? Why the deception? Why did you lie to everyone? Tell me.
H: I was going to tell you everything today. I swear (that’s not an answer, Huguito). But not here. Let’s return to the house.
S: Don’t touch me! You’re not taking me anywhere. I won’t allow you to confuse me any more than I am already.
A: I came back for you, Soledad. For my wife. With all the patience in the world, I will resolve all your doubts.
S: This is a trap by both of you. (to Hugo) You lied to me! You lied to me! Why? Why? (She hits him) I want to know the truth. I just want to know the truth if it exists. You had no right to do this to me! (She hits him again). I hate you!
She faints. Hugo picks her up and carries her off.
Alcides, who has been watching this whole scene with a satisfied little smile, tells the crowd to enjoy the fiesta and make themselves at home (“están en su casa”).

Antonia asks why Dr. Max has not gone to help Soledad. He says that the jig is up and he’s outta there. Boris moves to go to Hugo. Marina holds him back and says that if they don’t leave, they’ll end up in jail. Boris says that he’s sorry but he has to be with his boss. Marina plays the baby card but Boris says he will not abandon Hugo now. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and when he has gone after Hugo, Marina says that Boris will regret choosing to stay with Hugo.

Arturo is trying to convince the judge that this whole mine thing is a trick to let Hugo run off with all their money. Margot says that what has happened is very exciting. Rebeca doesn’t agree. She says that a war is coming, a disaster and everyone who invested in the mine will suffer.

Dr. Dan volunteers his services as a doctor to Soledad. Hugo leaves her side. He tells Alcides that he always had the feeling that Alcides had survived the current in the river. He sent detectives to look for Alcides. He’s hidden himself very well. Hugo says that he imagines that Alcides is enjoying the success of his plan. “You are wrong,” says Alcides, “You can’t imagine the miserable life that I had to suffer while you passed as me and lived with my wife.” Hugo says, “You should have looked for me and resolved your problems with me personally without involving Soledad.” Alcides says, “Your little game of pretending to be the good brother is over. It’s over. Today, everything has changed forever. I’ve returned to take my rightful place.” He continues. “I bet you know that Aurora is your daughter.” “I found out today. Soledad told me.” says Hugo. “Did she tell you that she’s legally registered as my daughter?” Hugo moves toward the baby that Ursula is holding but a revived Soledad tells him not to touch her daughter.

Eloisa asks Marina why she didn’t tell her about what was going to happen. Marina says that she didn’t know. Eloisa asks if there is anything else Marina wants to tell her, like who that woman is (indicating Michelle). Marina says that she knows who she is and what she wants but it will cost Eloisa. Eloisa says that tonight she will pay Marina what the information is worth. Marina tells her Michelle's name and that has a cure for catalepsy. Marina leaves. Eloisa is impactada. She says that there is a new player in the dance but she will get this Michelle out of her way (go for it!).

Michelle orders Andres to mingle and find out what is the story of the twins and to find out which one has catalepsy. Arturo makes a move on Michelle but she brushes him off.

Soledad tells Hugo and Alcides that neither of them has any rights over her daughter. Hugo says that she can’t do that, he gave her life. Alcides says that he is the legal father. Soledad says that it’s her daughter and she will do as they did and make decisions about her daughter without consulting anyone. She sends Ursula and the baby to the carriage. She says that she wants to share something and she doesn’t want to do it with her daughter there.

Soledad thanks Dr. Dan (of course she doesn’t mention his name since Hugo is standing right there). Alcides sidles up to Soledad and says that she looks more beautiful than ever and that’s why he wanted to organize this fiesta in her honor. Hugo tells him to shut up. To Soledad Hugo asks forgiveness and says that they have many things to talk about and urges her to go home with him. Soledad agrees that they have many things to talk about but they will do here in front of all the people of San Marino.

Eloisa wants to find a way to stick her nose in what’s going on with Hugo and Alcides but Paquito warns her to be careful. Eloisa points out Michelle. Paquito says that she is pretty and is wearing the latest French fashion (trousers? I don't think so). "The latest in bad taste," says Eloisa cattily. She tells Paquito that she has found out Michelle has the cure for catalepsy. Paquito is intrigued.

Soledad addresses the guests at the fiesta with Hugo and Alcides by her sides. She says that she hopes that they have enjoyed the circus organized by the Medina brothers. She urges the attendees to eat and drink but not to do it on her behalf. Do it on behalf of those who have just brought disgrace and misfortune into her life. She tells Paquito that she wants it noted publicly that she never wants to hear from these two as long as she lives. From now on Soledad de Obragon will be a different woman, in charge of her own destiny. She says, “The woman who stands in front of you was deceived, betrayed and her heart was broken.” Hugo reaches out, touches her arm and says, “Soledad, please.” She turns to him and tells him never to touch her ever again. She says,
S: (to Alcides) I would like to congratulate you on your triumphant return. The fiesta was a great gift but if it’s up to me, I would like you to leave right now and go back where you came from.
A: You are my wife. I wanted to honor you and give you a delightful surprise.
S: I only married you for the lies they told me. They told me Hugo was dead. I let myself by manipulated by my mother. It was everyone’s fault. I married Alcides de Medina for honor and for my family’s traditions. Because I was terrified! Because I was afraid! I was pregnant by Hugo de Medina without being his wife and I was terrified of what everyone would say about me (literally, 'that I would be eaten by hungry wolves'). I married him fearing all of you. Please enjoy the party, eat, drink. This is what all this is for. I think I’ve said enough for you to mock me (literally, 'clean the floor with me'). Soledad de Obragon is leaving so that you can act like vultures eating carrion. Alcides, Hugo, everyone, enjoy what’s left of me because I’m already dead.

Soledad gets in the carriage. Ursula says that she is the most courageous person she has ever known. Hugo watches her drive away like a lost soul. Alcides has his nasty little grin.

Arturo tries to get the judge to take action against Hugo.

Hugo and Alcides have a discussion:
H: Alcides, I don’t want you to get in our way.
A: You said 'our'? Oh, you mean Soledad. Didn’t you hear her?
H: She is hurt because I deceived her. But I regret my actions. I know that she loves me. When she is calmer, she’ll understand that I did everything for love.
A: It won’t be that easy, brother. I came back for one reason – to get my wife back.
H: Listen to me Alcides, Don’t mess with Soledad. Don’t mess with her.
A: You listen to me. Soledad is the only reason that I stayed alive during all the time I was being tortured. I’m willing to dedicate every second of my life to getting her love.

Michelle tells Daniel that she was very moved by Soledad’s words and found a lot of truth in them. Andres explains what he has learned about the Hugo/Alcides situation to her and Dr. Dan. Michelle says that she doesn’t want to stay at the party anymore. Dr. Dan keeps looking back at where Soledad was.

At her parents’ house, Soledad goes into her room without a word to Ester. Ursula has to explain what has happened.

Hugo goes to the carriage where Boris is waiting. He says that there is no point in staying at the party. He has to find Soledad. Boris says that Hugo was right in believing that Alcides was alive all this time. Hugo says that he knew Alcides would come back. Boris says that this makes things more complicated (that's an understatement!). Hugo replies that he has to fight for Soledad’s forgiveness but he is sure she loves him. Hugo wants to leave the party but asks Boris where his wife is.

Marina is at the Hacienda. She says that she won’t go to jail because of Hugo. With the money she got from Eloisa and what he investors put in the mine, she will leave this hellhole forever.

Boris says he can’t find Marina anywhere and they should leave because everyone is talking about Hugo. Hugo says that’s the least of his worries. Before he leaves however, the judge arrests Hugo for identity theft. The police put handcuffs on Hugo. Boris protests. Hugo says he knew this could happen. They are about to take Hugo away when Alcides tells them to wait. Arturo urges him to send Hugo to jail. The judge says that as the victim, Alcides can withdraw the charges. Alcides lets Hugo twist in the wind for a long time enjoying his power over him before he finally says that he won’t have his brother arrested. Arturo is furious but Hugo is released. Hugo tells Boris to go find Marina while he looks for Soledad. Paquito says that if he were Alcides, he would have let his brother rot in jail. Rebeca and Eloisa think that Alcides is up to something. Eloisa doesn’t know what is going on but she wants to find out.

Ester, Antonia, Ursula and the baby are outside Soledad’s room but she won’t open the door or answer. Ursula thinks that something is wrong. Soledad would never leave her baby for this long. Antonia asks where Lucas is and Ester says that they had an argument but she agrees that Soledad needs him. He’s not in the house but she knows where to find him.

At the tavern, Lucas wakes up and tries to figure out what he is doing there. He flashes back to his fight with Ester. He says that it is all over and wonders what will happen to his life now. Ester arrives and says that Soledad needs him. She explains what happened. Lucas rushes off to help Soledad.

Alcides is addressing the guests at the party. He says that lots of people hated him in this city. They might remember him as a rude and insensitive man and even unfair sometimes but that has all changed because he has learned from his mistakes during the time he was gone. He worked very, very hard to make his business a success and thanks to God, he obtained a small fortune. Now he has returned as a changed man who is immensely rich. He says that life taught him a lesson and he has a debt to all of the people and he is here to settle it. Money is only good if you share it with friends. From now on Alcides de Medina will make this community grow. He’ll make San Marino into a city famous for its progress and well being. Paquito says to Eloisa that this party is full of suprises – Alcides rich? Eloisa replies that they will have to verify it and if is true, all their efforts will be focused on Alcides. For his part, Arturo says that Alcides was always a loser and he doesn’t believe a word of it. Alcides concludes that he has business matters to take care of and tells everyone to continue with the party. He gets in his carriage and leaves to the applause of the crowd.

Lucas arrives at the house and Antonia starts in on him for drinking. Ester tells her this isn’t the time. Nothing has been heard from Soledad. At this point, Hugo appears. Lucas chews him out for what he did to Soledad. Hugo says there are things Lucas doesn't understand. He admits that he made a mistake and he never should have let things get to this point but he loves Soledad and she loves him. He calls Soledad and when she doesn’t answer, he kicks in the door and the room is empty. Soledad has gone.

At the Hacienda, Marina is packing up her stuff and the money that was invested in the mine. She says that the money from the investors is hers now. She won’t have to steal from Boris. She doesn’t need him now. “Stay with your Hugo de Medina,” she says, “I’m out of here.” Boris is standing right behind her.

Paquito and Eloisa are exultant at what has happened. Eloisa wants to go to the Tavern but Paquito has to file his story. Guillermo and Elena are afraid that when Alcides discovers that they saved his worst enemy, they will end up on the gallows so they decide to live for the moment and stuff themselves with food.

Hugo says to Ester, Lucas et al that they have to find Soledad. Lucas threatens Hugo if anything has happened to Soledad. Ursula asks if Alcides could have been involved. Hugo says that is what he fears. Lucas tells Ursula to stay with the baby and not open the door. They all go out to look for Soledad. Before he leaves, Hugo asks Ursula to hold the baby. He takes the baby. “How beautiful you are,” he says. “I promise never to let you down as a father. I was miserable to your mother but you, my little one, you and your mother are the most important things in the world.” Hugo kisses the baby and smiles so sweetly. Ursula cries.

Boris asks Marina if this is what she meant when she promised to stay by his side forever. He asks if she is leaving because she wants to avoid the whispers behind their backs? Why? Is that what she wants? To separate him from his child that she is carrying? He asks why she is doing this to him? Marina says, "Whispers behind our backs, Boris! We are accomplices of Hugo and we can end up in jail. I told you a thousand times, I begged you a thousand times to get away from here but you wouldn’t do it.” She continues, “You preferred to stay here with Hugo licking his boots.” Furious, Boris raises his hand to hit her. He doesn’t hit her but says that he won’t allow her to speak that way. He says that they owe everything to Hugo, doesn’t she understand? Marina responds that he may owe Hugo but she doesn’t owe him anything. She’s leaving. Boris grabs some of the money and says that she isn’t taking that. If she does, she’ll become a thief. In a voice dripping with sarcasm, Marina says that he and Hugo took the money from the investors for a mine where they knew there was no gold and he calls her a thief? Boris says that they have no right to take that money. Marina says fine, keep it. I’m leaving. Boris begs her not to leave. He asks her to think of their love, their child. Marina says, “Love? There was never any love between us. Our son is the only thing we have in common. But your loyalty to Hugo is more important than your love for me.” Boris is impactado. Marina says that she is taking this decision because of him. It’s his fault. Boris asks where she is going. Marina responds that that isn’t his damned problem.

Lucas, Ester, Antonia and Hugo are asking everyone if they have seen Soledad. Hugo says to himself that the only logical reason for Soledad’s disappearance is that his brother has kidnapped her. He rides off.

Cut to the fireproof cabaña where henchmen bring a bound and hooded woman to Alcides. We can see right away that it is Eloisa (her nasty red hair), not Soledad. Alcides says that she looks strange with the bag on her head. The men who brought her are beasts. He pulls the bag off. Eloisa says that she wanted very much to be alone with him.

At the Hacienda, Boris is sitting alone on the stairs drinking. Hugo zips in and without asking if he found Marina or noticing that he is not a happy camper, tells him that he thinks Alcides has kidnapped Soledad. He orders him to get everything ready. They will leave in five minutes. Boris responds with a weary, “Yes, sir.” He flashes back to Marina's voice saying that Boris is just a servant to Hugo that he uses him as a convenience. In his room, Hugo starts to take off his party clothes. He turns and Soledad is behind him. “Soledad,” he says. She devours him with her eyes and slaps him three times. Wordless looks as the credits roll.

Tomorrow: Hugo and Soledad surrender to their passion?

Yo Amo A Juan, Tues. 5/6/08: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...

We open with Dona Nidia telling a reluctant young man to cover for her at Angarita's so she can run off to meet a friend. Her work is nearly done: the gossip, the personal calls, the poker game. Now it's time to move on. Nobody has to lie to Angarita!

At Farrell, Marely asks Sandro if he wants a coffee. And how did it go in there at the interview? Sandro wants to know when they started tutearing each other, when they became such good buddies. Yesterday, Marely says, taken aback. He doesn't remember?

Socios Paula and Juan are bickering in her office about their interview with Sandro. Paula thinks that Sandro is the perfect person for their VP of Administration, he's got the background they need. Juan is stalling, he thought bubbles that he doesn't want Sandro moving in on his territory.

Marely wonders if she offended Sandro or if he's one of those moody people. He says that it's just the stress, he really needs the job. Marely remarks that all of the candidates probably feel that way...

Fern, Pastor and Heri are gathered in the lobby nearby, waiting for any news about the interviews. Fern says he smells alcohol and asks Heri if he's been drinking. No, no, no!

Nidia admires her reflection in her compact mirror and powders her nose. She looks up from her table at the cafe and admires the bartender. Don Lorenzo hasn't gotten there yet, and she calls the bartender over. She wants to get to know him and invites him to sit.

Kike gets back and finds the vegetable stand is in disarray. He panics and throws some blame around at his worried compadre who's watching the store. What happened? And where's Dona Nidia? Kike hears the explanation about how Dona Nidia made everyone play poker -- she's crazy!

Don Lorenzo, the man, is combing his hair getting ready to go out.

Juan tells Paula he's not so sure about Sandro. Not so sure?! Why?? He has a feeling. She tells him that you've got to make business decisions on facts, not feelings. He reminds her that is was him who had the doubts about the Campeoni deal. She reminds him about Sandro's education, his experience as a cereal exec in the US, his financial background, his time at Stanford. What more does Juan want in a candidate, what's the problem?

Madame Pomposo breaks the mood for Don Lorenzo as she comes back home. You didn't even miss me! And where are you going? Golf. She's suspicious of him. Does he have another woman? No. Well, yes. A friend and we're going out to eat. What kind of a woman is that? Senora Pomposo cries and makes weak threats that she's going to leave for good. Seeing little argument there, she walks out. Don Lorenzo makes a happy fish face.

Back at Farrell, what does Juan want? He wants a test! Paula thinks that's ridiculous to give a candidate a test, especially with all of Sandro's experience. But if Juan wants a test they'll have a test. And who's going to prepare the test, Juan? Yes!

Juan slides out of the Paula's office into the lobby, awkwardly pushing his chair in front of him. He yells for Fern to come to his office.

Sandro steps toward Paula's office door and says that he's like to talk to her some more. She'd like to talk to him and invites him into her office.

Paula tells him about the test and apologizes. He starts to make some smart remarks that almost take her aback, but he changes course and tells her he's fine with taking a test. And he'd like to invite Paula to eat, because she's the most attractive woman at Farrell. And if her socio Juan doesn't like him, it might be the last time that Sandro gets to spend time with her. She tries to make excuses, but then accepts.

Juan and Fern are conferring in Juan's office. Juan needs Fern's help to make up a test. Just then, Juan hears a rumble. What's that? Time to eat! They get Juanito to join them and head into the lobby.

Fern, Juan and Juanito meet up with Sandro and Paula. Each group sizes up the other. Paula introduces Juanito to Sandro, who almost sneers that Juanito is just like his dad. Juanito gives Sandro Arenas some attitude.

Downstairs in the garage, Sandro gushes at the red convertible. Whose is that? It's a classic! Juan proudly says, it's mine. Sandro tells him it's a collector's item and starts to irritate Juan with all of his car knowledge. They get into their cars. Juan honks at Sandro's car in front of him to get going.

Nidia tells the bartender how she is not able to stay faithful to one man. She has one, then she wants the other. Just then, Don Lorenzo arrives and the bartender springs up from his chair.

Juan grumbles about Sandro as he drives. Sandro driving his car tries to get Paula to talk about her troubles with Juan, but she changes the subject. Just then, she notices that Juan is following them! She turns around in horror. Sandro speeds up, so does Juan.

Don Lorenzo tell Nidia that he had a serious conversation with his wife and told her that there was another women. Did she tell Delirio about them, that they're an item? Of course not! No, no, no.

At Farrell, Heri makes inquiries about Yvonne, can he get her address. The gal filling in for Yvonne asks Marely about the rumors of Yvonne's lipo surgery. Not true!

Anga and Yadi get back to the produce mart. Where is Nidia??

Paula tells Sandro to pull over so they can talk things out with Juan. Sandro says that the best solution is not talk, but speed! They continue to do laps around DF with Juanito cheering for Juan to go faster and Paula and Fern yelling at their drivers to slow down.

The excitement ends with Juan's flashy red convertible by the side of the road, engine steaming. It didn't go as fast as Juan thought. He reaches in to try to fix it and burns his hand -- ouch! Fern sends Juanito for water, but there is none so they blow on Juan's hand to try to cool it.

Sandro and Paula reach their destination. Funny, this was one of CL's favorite restaurants. The wait staff mistakes Sandro for CL and Paula has to clarify that this is Sandro, CL's twin bro. He asks her what she's drinking. Nothing. He orders a bottle of one of CL's favorite wines. Paula, ill at ease, tells him that he is starting to remind her more and more of CL.

Sandro wants to know about how things were with CL. Some good, some bad. Sandro inquires, which was there more of? Paula tells him there was more of the bad.

Back at Farrell, Juan's hand is bandaged, but he's not broken. He's plotting his next move in the fight against Sandro Arenas.

Fuego Episode #7 - Lots of choreographed flirting

We begin with Juan nursing his bonked head while resting on a bale of hay. Sofia shows up to see how he's doing. She is 100 times more attractive today in this getup/hair/makeup than she was when I watched last week. Maybe her 'OMG Juan is so hot' face looks better than her 'OMG my husband is sooo gross' face. Feonando shows up and gives her a speech about how she should be with him, her HUSBAND, causing Juan to be impactado, the end of yesterday's show. Feonando continues his sexist rant about how wives should follow their husbands around and crap like that. Sofia leaves, Feonando pauses to give Juan a dirty look. Juan tries to look contrite. Outside, Feonando and Sofia fight, they repeat (for anyone who just started watching the show) the same conversation about her wanting a divorce and him saying never. Oscar and Franco show up to see Juan, who is pissy. He tries to stomp away but Padre Tadeo makes him go accept his prize.

Eva sits and cries over some baby girl clothes, the first outfit her long gone baby ever wore. She asks, "where are you?" to notify us viewers that her whereabouts are unknown, and to dispel any notion that one of the three sisters is her baby.

Sofia is about to accept Juan's prize on his behalf when Juan shows up being pushed by Tadeo. Juan and Sofia googly eye at each other, he gets the prize, then after he shoves it at her and says she should give it to her husband to keep with all the other prizes he already has. What, is he in third grade, or what? He stomps off again.

The other brothers look for Juan, they can't find him anywhere.

While the two healthy young men can't find Juan, an old man in a wheel chair is able to. He convinces Juan to take him somewhere, saying he has a hot date.

Franco runs into Sarita, they stammer stupidly at each other. Franco looks super gross with his stubble. He looks unwashed. They talk and Franco says that Juan was/is like a father to him and Franco.

Jimena and Franco also run into each other and begin flirting.

Gabriela complains about stuff, then tells Feonando how wonderful he is. We hear grandpa singing, I guess that was his hot date. Gabriela of course starts whining and goes on stage and interrupts him. The crowd was enjoying his horrible singing, but she makes him leave anyway. He yells for help.

Sarita is sniffling, mention of a father has made her think about her dead dad and she is sad. The mention of Bernardo makes Franco sneer, they both get over it, then Sarita worries about Gabriela seeing them together.

Jimena trips and Oscar catches her, how convenient. She keeps saying that he must have lots of girlfriends and tells him that Los Hermanos Reyes are so perfect. Finally she kisses him, while he was busy explaining that his respect is stopping him from kissing her. The details are unimportant. Flirting, kissing.

Sofia thumps the trophy down on a table in front of Juan. Oh I didn't mention, all this is going on during the party. This party is going on all day and into the night. Anyway, they have another spat about she's married, so what is it to him, googly eyes at each other. She stomps off and he smiles. Then he throws the trophy on the ground.

Franco discovers Sarita carrying books, they talk about books to show how intellectual they both are. Whatever. He's as intellectual as a log. She comments on how alike they are. They get close and some kids start chanting that they are now novios. Sarita shushes them, knowing it could get her thrown into the dungeon or something.

Sofia gets a fortune from a little fortune teller bird, the note says 'suffering and love'. She sees Juan and they smile at each other.

The lady who helps Rosario at the bar tells her that Franco was at the party, Rosario rehashes how she doesn't know where her kid is and how she isn't allowed to love Franco. Franco who is basically her stalker, by the way. So much to love there. "heh heh I love watching you shake your boobs" "oooh Franco I think I love you" Nope, doesn't quite fit.

Sofia brings Eva some food and tells her how she appreciates Eva and would do anything for her, she knows that right? Eva says yes, thank you, sniffle sniff no I wasn't crying, allergies or something, I'm tired. Sofia leaves and Eva tells the empty room how she can't tell anyone she had a daughter. In case you weren't watching a few minutes ago I guess we get this story again.

Oscar and Jimena flirt more, so do Franco and Sarita. Franco wins a game of Loteria that Sarita was running.

Feonando goes to a cockfight where some dirty dealing is going on and apparently wins some money. He and his buddy ogle some chicks hanging around the fight, just so we understand how Feonando is a bad dude. In case you didn't realize that yet.

The sisters and brothers keep running into each other and pairing off in very choreographed 'chance' encounters, much flirting and meaningful looks. Meanwhile the excellent Vicente Fernandez theme song plays. Feonando drags Sofia away from Juan and kisses her, she responds by hitting him.

Juan is riding around on a wild horse yelling that Sofia isn't a free woman, when he sees her in a backlit archway. He approaches, like Richard Dreyfuss entering the spaceship at the end of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and they kiss. Then Sofia wakes up. Psych! Guess who's hot to trot with Juan! She looks at her note that says 'suffering and love' again.

We hear a rooster signifying that it's the next morning. Side note - somehow a rooster and two hens ended up in my suburban neighborhood last week. That damn rooster perched on the neighbors front porch and crowed for 90 minutes. Later that day we say them in someone else's yard. The nearest farm is a mile away, I don't know how they got here. I never saw them again but every time I hear a rooster on TV now I'm reminded of that bird waking me up at 5:00 on a Saturday morning.

Eva talks to Grandpa, he gets out of her that she was in love with Bernardo and got busy with him one night when he was drunk. He promises not to tell. She tells him of the baby and how Gabriela took it away, she doesn't know if Gab really knew it was Bernardo's baby or not. Another quick aside - I have baby news, my wife is pregnant! We tried for months and months, so every time I see one of these shows where a woman gets pregnant by being in the same room as a man I roll my eyes. Anyway Baby Ferro is due around new years, yippee!

Wow, Juan is actually shaving! False alarm, only shaving his neck, he's leaving that smear of dirt he calls a beard. He is so pissed off about Sofia being married he cuts himself. He says it changes nothing, they are going to seduce all three women anyway. Oscar stands around in jockey shorts, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Sofia goes outside and sees the brothers arriving. She asks why they are there, it's Sunday. Juan says they want to finish and get off this damn hacienda as soon as possible. She says that she is the last one who wants to see the work done, but doesn't explain why. She and Juan manage to get all close and almost kissy.

Gabriela is out walking with the other two sisters, Jimena wearing some great tight pants and revealing shirt. Finally I get a show with something to look at. She wanders off and runs into Oscar, they proceed to make out. Sarita sees them and yells "Mama!" to distract Gab from looking at them. She makes up some excuse about the flowers being thorny and Jimena tells Oscar to scram and runs back over, they change the subject to how awesome the party was yesterday. Gabriela says "hey where's Sofia?"

Sofia is still almost kissing Juan, they manage to spat again and split up. She wanders off all flustered and says Juan makes her feel Fuego en la Sangre. She has been sheltered or she would know that what she is really feeling is horny. I think Juan will teach her about all that. Juan has started his shirtless bucket of water routine so she ogles him some more.

Tomorrow: No idea, my recording ended. More flirting, Juan being pissy, ogling, probably Juan shirtless with a bucket of water again, hopefully more tight pants on the ladies.
