El Clon, Mon., July 19- Summary for Discussion

An action packed episode for this novela!!

'¡Ocúpese de lo suyo, yo me ocupo de lo mío!' mind your own business & I'll mind mine, says Daniel to the busybody lady in the church. He denies her assertion that a black woman could not give birth to a son who looks like him.

Daniel asks Father Andres if a black woman and a white man could produce a child as white as he is. The Padre says that if the birth mother were the only black person in her family, it is possible, otherwise no. The Padre then flashes back to witnessing a confrontation between Dora and Albieri but when he comes back to the present, Daniel is gone.

'No puede ser', thinks Daniel, it can't be.

Zoraida is showing Zumaya how she reads the coffee grounds. She says that the hour is approaching when Jade's destiny will be fulfilled [let it be so!!!]. She sees that man approaching towards Jade [shot of Daniel]. Zoraida is afraid for Jade's destiny - her shadow has separated from her body [♪ me and my shadow.. strolling down the avenue...♫♪].She says that it's the past and present colliding. Zumaya wonders whether the man Zoraida is talking about is the man Jade is going to marry.

Abdul is singing the praises of a second wife, Jasmine, to Mohamed. Abdul tells Mohamed that unless his marriage contract forbids his taking a second wife, he is free to do so [We recall that Mohamed swore to Latifa that he wouldn't take another wife.] Anyway, says Abdul, she doesn't even have to know. You can have a wife, a house and kids in Morocco and one here. Mohamed looks nervously around for Latifa.

Andrea tells Nati that she is throwing away her life and Alej's love for drugs. She says that Alej is working his butt off to train so he can give Nati the life she is accustomed to but she doesn't support or encourage him. She spends all day doing drugs with Fernando and complaining about her problems. Good advice but Nati isn't listening.

Drugs destroy your life, yadda yadda says Enrique in therapy while we see Nati looking afraid.

Daniel angrily looks for his mother. Estela tells him that Dora is at work.

Father Andres reports on his conversation with Daniel to Albieri and asks if Dora is Daniel's mother. Albieri gets twitchy when the Padre says that he told Daniel that he couldn't be the product of a black woman and a white man. Father Andres asks what Albi is hiding. Albi says that Dora isn't Daniel's mother but she thinks she is. The Padre asks if Albieri switched babies. Something like that, says Albieri. He says that he made a mistake and now it has gotten out of hand and he doesn't know what to do.

Amina tells Rania that she is handling Said all wrong. Rania says that if she only had a son, she could control Said.

Said tells Ali that he sent two somebodies to the US to keep Jadiya from being kidnapped. Jade and Zoraida are listening. Ali furiously asks Jade if she considered such a thing as kidnapping Jadiya. She doesn't deny it and says that she just wants to raise her daughter. Allah gave you that opportunity, says Ali and, '¡tú preferiste cambiar a Jadiya por las tentaciones de la tierra! ¡Tienes el destino que quisiste,' Jade! You preferred to exchange Jadiya for earthly temptations. You have the destiny you wanted, Jade!'

When Rania comes back, Jade attacks her for telling Said about the planned kidnapping.Said breaks it up. He warns Jade not to try and take his daughter from him or it will be bad for her and worse for him (Lucas). [Jade's not having a good day. At least she didn't says that she just wants to be happy.]

Alej is trying to keep Nati out of trouble by calling her frequently. She tells him that she is studying while she is drinking and doping with Fernando. Pablo is not longer sure that Nati is the right girl for Alej.

Dora is dancing at a club. [Is this her work?] Daniel comes in and says that he knows everything. You are not my mother, he says. Dora is impactada. The poor woman insists that she is his mother asking Osvaldo and Miguel to testify that they saw her when she was pregnant. Osvaldo advises her to tell Daniel the truth, so she does - that Albieri is not his father and that he is the product of an artificial insemination. Daniel runs out of the club to find Albieri.

Enrique, Clara and Carolina go out for the evening to Zein's club.

Fernando tells Andrea that since Alicia's baby is history, Fernando wants his car back (Yo quiero mi auto de vuelta). Roberto comes in and gives Fer a look. Fer asks what is up with her old man, andropausia (male menopause)? He leaves and Roberto asks, ¿Qué parte no entendiste cuando te dije que no quería que lo volvieras a ver? What part did you not understand (preterite tense) when I told you (preterite) that I didn't want (imperfective) you to see him again (literally, that you return (conditional) to see him again). Andrea angrily replies that she will never tell Fer not to come to the house even if her father tortures her.

Enrique, Clara and Carolina go to Salamandra. When Carolina meets Rogelio and they gaze into one another's eyes, it is clear that he is her true love.

Dora, Osvaldo and Daniel burst in on Albieri and Father Andres. Albieri confirms to Daniel that Dora isn't his mother. But, of course, he doesn't explain why an artificial insemination would make Dora not be Daniel's mother. Dora furiously drags Daniel out of the the priest's house.

Back at her house, Dora swears up and down that Daniel is her son. She gets a picture of herself when she was pregnant [maybe she should get Daniel's birth certificate. We all know that birth certificates can't be forged ;-).] Daniel says that everyone, including the priest, is claiming that he can't be Dora's child. He wants to know why she didn't tell him that he was adopted. Estela says that children are born the way God wants them to be.

Albieri tells Father Andres that his reputation that he built up over years is ruined. He has mad scientist ravings (some day they will thank me) and the Padre says that he is running a fever. Albieri and Daniel sneak out of their various houses and meet in the Church.

Carolina and Enrique watch Clara and Rogelio dance and speculate on the future. If those two get together, Carolina would be the wife of Malicia's boss.

The Chump tells Fernando that he can't give him back his car because he put it Malicia's name. No need to translate Fer's response.

Malicia asks to be put in charge of the club when Cristina is away in Morocco at Zein's wedding. Rogelio says that he will think about it.

Zoraida tells Jade that she has found out that Zein is handsome. He woos women but won't settle down with one. Jade tells Zoraida that she will romance Zein so he won't send her back to Said.

Dora finds out that Daniel has left the house and she goes after him.

While Nati is in the house and can overhear, Lucas and Marisa have their usual argument about who is the worse parent.

The priest tells Dora that unless this is a miracle from God, she can't be Daniel's mother. 'Then it's a miracle from God,' says Dora.

Carolina tells Clara that she and Rogelio stayed up all night talking and are smitten with one another. Rogelio allows Malicia to be in charge while Cristina is in Morocco.

Rania and Jade continue fighting even though Ali tries to make peace. He tells Jade that it is her fault that she opened the door for Said to take a second wife and Rania was just being loyal to her husband when she told on Jade.

Rania faints in the market and we all know what that means!

Malicia tells the Chump that she is going to make Cristina's work look bad in comparison to hers when she is in charge at the club. The Chump says what an honest, wonderful person Malicia is.

And so it is. Rania is pregnant. Said stops glowering for the first time in ages. Everybody ignores Jade.

Jade goes after Said and asks him to let her be happy now that he is happy. They rehash the same argument as always about whose fault it was that Jade and Lucas got together again and Said asks Jade, '¿Qué más tiene que hacer Lucas para que te des cuenta de que no te ama?' What more does Lucas have to do for you to realize that he doesn't love you? He says that if his true love were marrying someone else, he would do anything to prevent the marriage even if it meant his throat got slit or he was flogged. Easy to say when it's not you looking at being flogged to death but Jade seems to feel the criticism.

The credits roll.

Club Gancho... relax, have a cool drink, and tell us about your Summer

Good afternoon, Ganchodores. Sylvia and the rest of the crew of the Cinnabar are safely in Hawaii, celebrating and preparing for their voyage home. Hoping for detailed accounts of their adventure on the high sea. I was hoping to find a picture of them at the finish, but so far , no luck. This week's featured drink is... what else?... a Blue Hawaiian..

Here in Houston, Lois, our local stink flower is still being a shrinking violet. Some here are becoming very restless and a few are calling for an investigation. I believe they have taken to playing Barry White tapes to create the proper mood. Perhaps a well-made martini or some chocolates would loosen her inhibitions a bit.

Food is a popular topic here at CG so I'm happy to tell you about a dish the Lovely Linda prepared Saturday evening. It was grilled flank steak, which in and of itself was delicious, but it was the relish that she topped it with that was, well, awesome. It was a mixture of sweet corn, red onion, jalapeño, red pepper flakes, olive oil, honey, lime juice, and sea salt. It was one of the tastiest and most refreshing things I've ever tasted and was the perfect companion to the flank steak. Who would have guessed something so simple could taste so great? Wow!

Rain today. Gentle, cooling, and welcome.

I hope that you are all having a great summer. I found this group picture of the cast of un Gancho al Corazón. Notice that Coni seems to still be in character. Several are missing, including Oscar, Marcos, Isabel, Coni's shrink, Lobo, and others.

Cast of un Gancho al Corazón

Nieves and Cesar... never too old for lovin'

Coni and Beto... still my favorite telenovela couple... and the hottest

Beto... ahhh! Downy fresh

Fans of Lois... she's finally loosening up

Mauricio and Lobo... buff boxers

Gabriela... pretty lady, pretty clothes

Carlos

REVISED Corazón Salvaje FRI 2010-07-16 Summary and Discussion

Episode 105

We have an opening for the Friday recapper, to anyone interested. Many thanks to Sarah for the very helpful and entertaining recaps she has written for us!

Here is a summary of events from Friday's episode -- just the three-hour tour. Dr. Pablo has to amputate and cauterize Remigio's left arm after the shark attack. Phillip and the girlz close the casino early to take Lulu to apologize to Remigio.

Leonarda worries about Juan's possible testimony and mentions to Renato that Aimee left the house that evening. He muddies Aimee's plans for a romantic baby-making evening by furiously demanding her whereabouts earlier; she lies that they just went for a walk in town.

Remigio's not very happy to be alive missing an arm, despite Pablo's encouragement. The boyz decide not to tell Juan about Remigio or María del Rosario on top of his legal problems right now.

Noel and Renato both show up at the notary office to check on Regina alone there, and Noel overhears Renato demanding to know if the person who met Juan in his cell was actually a woman. Regina won't tell him, and neither will she admit it to Noel when he returns after eavesdropping; but he's sure it was Aimee anyway.

Aimee explains to Celia that she married Renato trying to forget about Juan, but she's unable to forget him -- and that now both Juan and Renato are in love with Regina.

The boyz think Phillip and the girlz have a lot of nerve showing up at Pablo's, and Gabriel finally admits they are not bad people -- but can't see Remigio anyway because of his condition. The casino trio are devastated to learn of Remigio's accident, especially Lulu.

Leonarda and Noel argue about Aimee's guilt in the family problems; and when he warns her that Juan's testimony may implicate her, Leonarda anxiously asks what he knows -- to which he replies he knows nothing that Leonarda doesn't already know.

Noel then braces Aimee with the news he knows she went to visit Juan and tells her she's playing with fire. She tries to deny it, but he cuts her off cold. He's interested in his son; she'd better watch what she's doing and protect his honor unless she wants Noel to take action against her.

A shaken Rodrigo reveals that he thinks he saw María del Rosario in the town square, her face looking full of sadness and suffering; and he's very upset. Leonarda tries to remind him she's dead and he's imagining it; but he vows that face will follow him the rest of his life. Privately she's furious that Arcadio lied to her and wonders where María del Rosario could be.

María del Rosario is back at Jacinta's. The boyz appear and inform Clemencia et al of Remigio's accident and that they don't plan to tell Juan anything until after his trial.

A tearful Lulu tries to apologize to Remigio, but he wonders that she'd think he'd believe her and sends her away. All it does it upset both of them again.

Back at the casino, Fifi dismays Phillip by informing him she's leaving and going back home, intending to ask her parents' forgiveness. She's sure their troubles are caused by Rodrigo and thinks it might be wise to avoid any further trouble.

Lulu decides to leave the business, too, and try to find a job as a cook or a housekeeper -- anything to prove to Remigio she's sincere.

Next morning, Renato has been up all night with law books preparing to face Juan in court. At the notary office, Regina is struck with fear to hear the morning bells and to know -- even if Juan will never be hers -- that his judgment is near.

Back at the finca while Renato bathes, (perhaps with Noel's threats in mind) Aimee helps him and tries to dissuade Renato from attending the trial; but he wants justice for Regina. When Aimee accuses him of being sorry he married Aimee and not Regina -- and that he doesn't love her anymore -- Renato says she doesn't understanding anything.

He just wants Regina to have whatever life remains to her. He shouts for Aimee to get out, and as she leaves, she thinks privately that if he wants war he can have it! Renato throws a wet towel at the door closing behind her departing back.

Finally, the guards bring a bucket of water for Juan to clean up in before his trial. Quite a contrast between his bath and Aimee bathing Renato. Juan shows the guard his clean hands and face with an evil grimace, and they escort him out of the cell and down the hall: game on!

El Clon Friday July 16: Summary for Discussion

Nati continues her downward spiral; Jade travels to Fez, confident that she can outwit Said, but doesn’t know that Rania has betrayed her; and Daniel loses his innocence in a most unlikely way.

Said unlocks the door to Jade’s room, then retreats with ill grace. Jade greets Tío Ali joyfully, but Ali is worried. What would become of you, he asks, if I weren’t in this world any longer? (¿Que serías de ti si no estuviera más en este mundo?) She continues to protest her fate, but Ali isn’t prepared to intervene beyond what he has just done.
Ya eres libre, Jade… Va a Marruecos y cásate.
You’re free now, Jade (from the locked room). Go to Morocco and get married.

Ramon tells Gloria that Nati is awake. He’s ready to tag along with her but Gloria dismisses him:
Ya yo tengo una sombra, no necesito dos!
I already have one shadow, I don’t need two.
Gloria tells Nati quite bluntly that she wants her to stay far away from Alej.

In the street, Hilda complains to Consuelo that Karla is in love with some poor slob (un muerto de hambre). Hilda wants Karla to snare Roberto – and his money -- but Consuelo tells her that might be difficult. The guy may be a big flirt, but he’s truly in love with his wife. Apparently Hilda has in mind some way of convincing Roberto that he has impregnated Karla. And it seems Consuelo knows something about falsifying lab tests. ¡Guácala!

And back at Gloria’s, Nati is apologizing like the well-bred young lady that she is:
Perdóname si cometí alguna imprudencia…es que soy llena de problemas.
Forgive me if I behaved unwisely...it’s just that I have so many problems.
News flash, says Gloria. Everyone has problems. But not everyone resorts to drugs. You need to turn it around now, because later on, you won’t be able to. Then Gloria offers her taxi fare, but she declines and starts walking home.

When she gets there, she finds a welcoming committee of Lucas, Marisa and Rosa, all wanting to know where she has been and why she didn’t call. When Nati goes upstairs, her parents turn on each other with accusations of setting a bad example and neglecting their daughter. Upstairs, Nati holds her pillow over her ears to block out their voices.

At Empresa Ferrer, Fernando passes by Clara’s desk looking very glum indeed. Clara tells Caro that Escobar has refused to give Fer money for his university texts because he needs the cash to buy a cell phone for Malicia. The ladies figure it must be a pretty pricey phone he has in mind.

And Escobar phones Malicia to let her know he has gotten an appointment for her with the best OB in Florida, a personal friend of his, for the day after tomorrow. (pasado mañana). (And we can see the wheels turning in her head: Time to move on to the next stage of the plan.)

Julio asks Escobar if he knows why Luisa is crying. It’s got to be Albieri, he says (I guess it takes one patán to know another one.) They go out to the desk and join Anita and Luisa. In walks Albieri with this announcement:
Vine a despedirme.
I came to say goodbye.
Everyone is impactado

Albieri asks Julio to take charge of the clinic in his absence. You talk as if you don’t intend to come back, says Julio. Albieri admits that he isn’t sure; he has made many mistakes and now he has to face up to the consequences. Does this have something to do with Dora and the mix-up of embryos? asks Julio. You think Daniel might find out? Albieri says that fortunately he hasn’t discovered anything yet, but inevitably it will come out. And the consequences could be fatal.

And Daniel walks into Dora’s house and announces: Vine a despedirme. He assures Dora and Estela he will come back to them, but this is something he needs to do, to find his way in life (encontrar el rumbo de mi vida).

The questions continue for Albieri, this time from Luisa. Where did you sleep? she wants to know. In a hotel. Who is she? I told you, there is no woman, insists Albieri. Then who are you running away from? she wants to know.
Cuando resuelva lo que tengo que resolver, vengo por ti.
When I resolve what I have to resolve, I’ll come get you.
Luisa will not accept this. You’re not going without me, she says. Finally Albieri appears to relent. Go pack your bag, he tells her. Ok, says Luisa, and don’t you leave without me!

As Luisa is packing she confides to her friend Anita that Albieri seemed so afraid. But as soon as it was decided that she would accompany him, he looked relieved. He was just upset because he was going to be traveling without me!

The residents of Casa Ferrer continue their sport of bicker and blame when Nati leaves without eating anything.

And Nati really is weak with hunger. We see her lean against the trunk of a palm tree and then fall to the sandy ground. Daniel happens on the scene. He leans over her and says: Señorita, ¿estás bien? She looks up groggily at him. ¿Papá? Then Daniel has disappeared, replaced by Fernando (and a girl who is trying to help). Fernando takes Nati to his house. She tries to tell him she saw her father, but he assumes she just imagined it. She tells him once more how unhappy she is at home. His solution?
¿Quieres una probadita? You want a little taste? .

Luisa arrives at the clinic, suitcase in hand, only to be told that Albieri has already left.

At Empresa Ferrer, Clara is looking good. She's got a new hairdo and has ramped up the sexy on her clothes. Carolina asks her to come to the Club (I think Salamandra) with her – maybe she’ll meet the love of her life. My son is the love of my life, she says. Just then Leo comes through, too quickly for Clara to tell him that Amalia is waiting in his office.

This isn’t working, Amalia tells Leo. I’m going back to New York as soon as the book is done. He kisses her and asks her to marry him.

Speaking of marriage, Cristina congratulates Zein on his planned nuptials. She is surprised to learn that he has never met the bride. But he knows her name is Jade. Say, muses Cris, I know a Jade, she’s from Morocco too… Cristina accepts his invitation to come to the wedding. Their conversation is interrupted when Diana comes in to say that Malicia (you mean the receptionist? asks Zein) went home sick.

And sick she is, my friends, sick she is. She is on the phone with Escobar: Remember that imaginary baby, Ratoncito? Well I just lost it in an imaginary miscarriage! (Sorry, Clara, no backsies on the car!)

Alejandro has kept his important appointment at the gym. He has met big shot manager Michael Gonzáles, impressed him, and gotten him to agree to watch him fight this weekend.
Me parece que tienes madera para llegar a las grandes legas.
I think you have the stuff to make it to the big leagues, he tells a thrilled Alej.

Escobar has rushed home to comfort his love. No es justo, she wails. Here, he says, I brought you a gift. For a woman who has just lost a baby, she seems easily distracted by a smart phone, but Escobar doesn’t seem to notice.

We are back at Said’s house. Ali tells Jade that he can’t do anything about Jadiya since by law she belongs to Said. No es justo, says Jade. All I can do, Ali tells her, is try to convince him to let her attend the wedding in Morocco. And you brought this all on yourself:
Hiciste lo mismo como Eva, la primera mujer – perdiste el paraíso por culpa de una tentación.
You did the same as Eve, the first woman – you lost paradise because of yielding to temptation.

Said is laying down the law to Rania. If you want to continue to be my wife, you’d better not behave like Jade, he warns her. In her desire to cast blame on Jade, she goes too far. First she offends Said by telling him that Jade always manages to get him to do what she wants. And finally she shoots herself in the foot (and Jade in the heart) by revealing that she overheard Jade arrange for her lover to rob Jadiya and take her out of the country. Said is furious: Rania disobeyed him by allowing Jade to use her phone and then didn’t tell Said about this nefarious plan!
Definitivamente, no se puede confiar en las mujeres!
Definitely, you can’t trust women!
Then to Jade: Let’s go/We’re leaving. Nos vamos.

Alej gets an earful from Gloria:
¿A ti qué tripa se te torció?
Which I’m guessing means: What the heck is wrong with you? (But if you have a better suggestion, let me know.)
She tells him she knows drug abuse when she sees it. In any case, he answers, I’m not going to leave her when she’s in trouble. Then he gives Nati a call to share his good news: that Michael González has agreed to watch him fight.
Me alegro por ti.
I’m happy for you, she says. But she sure doesn’t sound like it.

Cris tells Vicki about Zein’s wedding and Cris’s plans to travel to Morocco. Dora called, Vicki tells her. She was all upset because Albieri took Daniel away to, of all places, Morocco!

The next thing we know, Cristina is sitting in the clinic with Luisa telling her it wouldn’t be so hard to find someone in Morocco. Let’s go together. I doubt that Albieri has another woman, but if there does, well, I’ll take care of it. It’s kind of my specialty. (We all need a friend like Cris!)

Unlike poor sweaty Albieri, Ali and company travel via the speedy AeroNovela, so they arrive at the house in Fez lickety split. All the women in the house, including Jade, ululate joyfully while Said glowers. Privately, Jade asks Zoraida if she thinks Said was convinced that she had accepted her fate. You seemed so happy, says Zoraida, even I believed you. (Of course now that Rania has spilled the beans about the kidnap plan, Said isn’t going to believe anything Jade says or does. But she doesn’t know that.)

And back in Miami, Hilda, Karla and Consuelo gloat about their plan to entrap Roberto with some sort of laboratory scam.

Lucia’s ramblings to Marisa about the wonderful irresistible Roberto are interrupted
by Rosa’s announcement that Nati is awake. For some reason, Marisa has decided to try being someone’s mother today. She marches up to Nati’s room (wearing an exceptionally unflattering black broccoli band, I might add) and demands an explanation for her daughter’s failing grades. It’s all your fault, shoots back Nati. You don’t love me! I don’t matter to you!

I told you she wasn’t well, Rosa tells the exasperated Marisa.
No inventes, Rosa, no inventes!
Stop making stuff up, retorts our Mother of the Year.
But Rosa won’t leave it alone. She is lost, she tells her. It’s time to stop looking at yourselves and start worrying about your daughter.

(Now I thought that Daniel and Albieri had left for Morocco, but it seems not. The final scene -- as well as the previews -- take place in Miami.)
In the final scene, Daniel is praying to an image of the virgin. He tells a woman in the church that the black virgin reminds him of his mother, who is black. You’re adopted? asks the incredibly nosy woman. No, says Daniel, my father is white.
Si tu mamá es negra y tu papá es blanco, no hubieras nacido tan blanco como eres, a menos que tu mamá no sea tu mamá.
If your mother is black and your father is white, you wouldn’t have been born as white as you are unless your mother’s not your mother.
Whoa!

Previews for Monday:
Daniel demands answers from Dora: ¿De dónde vengo?
Jade is going to try to win Zein’s heart.
Daniel tells Albi he knows Dora isn’t his mother and demands to know what is going on.

Dinero #155, 7/16/10: The Walls Have Ears and The Hills Have Eyes as Rafa Sniffs Out the Truth.

All the pieces are starting to (excruciatingly slowly) come together. The beginning of Marco’s downfall has begun!

Rosaura lets the cat out of the bag about Ale getting married at the end of the month. Ale raises her hackles and tells Rosaura off for spilling secrets about her personal life. Rosaura blames Claudia for spreading the gossip. Like a schoolgirl in trouble, Claudia stays after the meeting to speak to Ale in private. (While Rafa blends into the background to listen in.)

Ale is tired of Claudia’s childishness. “Why don’t you spend more time gaining clients than gossip? Who told you about my wedding?” Claudia is surprisingly worked up and vows she can’t say. After the chismosa (gossip) leaves the room, Ale turns on Rafa. He swears he had nothing to do with it; he has no business knowing about her wedding. Ale flounces out even more discouraged.

Claudia is spitting mad that Rosaura called her out in front of Ale. Rosaura is far too preoccupied with the cookies Gabriel sent her to be worried but Claudia won’t be ignored. “That witch is furious at me now! She even told me to pull down my skirt. Of course, since she’s the lead executive, the most intelligent and elegant at Autos Siglo. But she doesn’t know what a wandering eye her novio has!” Rosaura’s ears perk up. “How well do you know Marco? Is he unfaithful often?” Claudia refuses to say, despite Rosaura pleading for an answer. Pepeto, having eavesdropped on the entire conversation, pockets Claudia’s unattended cell phone.

Ale once again blames Rafa and his fan club for telling the whole office about her wedding. Susana pulls Nelson aside to grill him about it. “Either you, Pepeto, or Rafa told Claudia about Ale’s wedding. You guys are always talking and I know it isn’t about business.” Nelson promises none of them did it, which upsets Susana.

Rafa calls Nelson and Pepeto into the meeting room for another huddle. Pepeto thinks he has Marco in the palm of his hand because of Claudia’s cell phone. The guys go through her phone and find Marco’s number inside. Pepeto tells them about Claudia implying Marco’s infidelity in her discussion with Rosaura. Nelson thinks this new information explains a lot; they have an enemy inside Autos Siglo.

Marino has a hissy fit in front of Ramirez about being treated badly by the company. “I cannot work like this! Either Medina goes or I do!” Ramirez warns him that Beltran will never choose Marino over Rafa after all the money he’s made. Marino catches Claudia eavesdropping. She shrewdly offers to help him get rid of Rafa if he gives her three of his commissions without anyone else knowing. Marino readily agrees. (An unholy alliance is made. I sense a war between Marino/Claudia/Ramirez and Rafa/Pepeto/Nelson in the future.)

Pepeto is sure they have enough proof of Marco’s affair with Claudia. After all, Claudia has several incoming calls from Marco. Rafa is thrilled to have the information but wants to hold off before busting Marco. He has Pepeto return the phone since the last thing they need is to be known as thieves.

Meanwhile, Claudia frantically searches her desk for her phone. She whines and cries to Jimenez, who has a nervous breakdown about being accused of stealing. Rosaura calls the phone and she and Claudia follow the sound. Pepeto quickly stashes the phone in Claudia’s trashcan and pretends to find it.

Rafa and Nelson ruminate about Marco. Rafa doesn’t understand why Marco would stay with Ale when he obviously doesn't love her. Nelson remembers a conversation Rosaura had with the General about Marco’s involvement with Ale’s hacienda.

The General and Claudia have a shouting match when Claudia accuses the General of stealing her phone. Susana breaks it up to tell Rosaura that Rafa wants to speak with her. Rosaura babbles about “her situation” being the excuse for her lackluster sales. Rafa cuts her off and brings the conversation around to the Alvarez de Castillo family. Rosaura happily spills her guts. “Don Jorge is very rich and owns a gorgeous hacienda where they produce livestock and milk. But he got into a bad business deal and the hacienda was embargoed. The only reason he still has it is to pay off debts. Marco is the family lawyer and takes care of the hacienda.”

Rafa’s wheels start turning. “When was the embargo lifted?” Rosaura has no clue since it was Marco who handled it. However she says Marco is a pathetic lawyer. She’s heard Marco has a nice office somewhere but she never found out where. Rafa thanks Rosaura for her time and she scampers away when Pepeto enters.

Marino tells Claudia he has a meeting with a client who plans to buy 4 trucks. Claudia agrees to keep her end of the bargain once he seals the deal.

Marco tells the workers at the hacienda that Chavez won’t be returning. They’re overjoyed but less enthusiastic to hear Marco is taking over. Meanwhile, we see a homesick Chavez in a Bugs Bunny version of Iraq. Still no sign of Rubi…

Rosario gives Ale a quick call about the wedding invitations; they still need to send one to Urdiales. Ale remembers hearing the name of Urdiales’ company when he happened to be at the same restaurant as Ale and Marco. She gives the address of Aseguradora Latina to Rosario.

Rafa relates all the new information to Pepeto. “Marco is marrying Ale for money and not because he loves her. Alejandra and her family don’t have money but their hacienda does.” Pepeto wonders if Carmela might have something to do with the embargo on the hacienda. Rafa tells Pepeto to go to the court to find out just what Marco and Carmela have been up to with the hacienda.

Groundskeeper Chucho walks with Marco around the hacienda. Chucho is glad Marco has taken over because he’s sure Chavez was abusing the hacienda. He had wild parties and didn’t handle any of the necessary business for the livestock; Chucho almost called Don Jorge about it. Marco is shocked and promises to take care of the problem himself.

Chucho says the hacienda can only produce profits in the thousands for the upcoming month. Marco needs millions of pesos a month and threatens to kill Chucho if he says anything to the Alvarez de Castillos about the hacienda.

Rafa calls Zetina, who has been spying on Marco and Chucho. Rafa tells Zetina to follow Marco wherever he goes after leaving the hacienda.

Marino hands over his commission to Claudia, who seems to be having second thoughts. Marino warns her not to back out. Nelson channels Zetina as he spies on them from behind a display. Claudia assures him she has information that will help get Rafa out of their hair. They piece together that Ale must have been involved in Rafa’s last business deal. (I think they were talking about Ale being Rafa’s silent partner.) Claudia is behind throwing Ale under the bus but doesn’t want Rafa to suffer. Marino wants Rafa fired and, if possible, thrown in jail.

Avances: Ale overhears Rafa give seduction tips to Pepeto and Marino goes to Beltran in hopes of getting Rafa fired.

Ep. 104

WARNING: This episode will be a multiple hanky episode. Please get your hankies now so you won’t miss anything.

The Boyz are still looking for Remi. He’s floating on some driftwood. They try to rouse him but too late, the shark gets him and drags him under the water. There is blood everywhere. The Boyz are beside themselves. Oh the horror!

Regina is eavesdropping while Aimee piles on the BS. He’s a dumbass if he believes anything she tells him. Aimee grabs Juan and gives him a good kiss. It’s amazing that a man his size can’t manage to push away a woman Aimee’s size. I don’t get it. Poor Regina. She is devastated. He finally manages to push Aimee away but it’s too late, the damage is done.

Back in the water Remi is awake and flailing around. The boyz paddle as fast as they can to reach him. He’s only swimming with one arm. That doesn’t look good. Surely a boat full of 2-armed men can paddle faster than a one-armed man full of rum can swim. We’ll see.

Juan grabs Aimee by the throat as she tells him she loves him. He is hers. She reminds him that his life is in her hands. He’s like, whatever. Get lost and don’t come back.

They reach Remi. They manage to pull him into the boat. Pedro takes off his belt so Pablo can use it as a tourniquet. He puts it around his arm. The boyz paddle frantically to get him to shore as the doc puts pressure on the arm to stop the bleeding. (Not very successfully by the looks of it.)

Regina runs back to Noel and Renato. Noel doesn’t understand why she didn’t go in. Renato is all set to go see what happened but Regina stops him. I think she should have told them what was going on and they all should go see for themselves what a hateful, selfish, lying, narcissistic cow Aimee really and truly is. She spins a story about how Juan was busy with someone. It was an attorney. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Noel wants to wait to see if the guy leaves so they can visit Juan. Regina assures him that it is best if they come back at some other time. Renato opens his big mouth and frankly I don’t care what he has to say. It’s all his fault that Juan is in this predicament in the first place. Regina says there is nothing more that can be done tonight. Renato wants her to come back to the finca. Why, so you can spy on her through a hole you are going to drill in the wall? She’s not going to the finca and wants to bunk at Noel’s office. He’s ok with that but of course Renato is not. Regina says she doesn’t want anyone to know they were there. Let’s go. Noel is reluctant. She finally convinces them all to leave.

Aimee is still in there going on about Regina. She looks smug. Juan looks confused. But then again, that’s pretty normal for him. She asks for the guard so she can leave. Thank God. I’m hoping Juan has finally learned his lesson about trusting Aimee. She blows him a kiss as she leaves. He whispers Regina, Regina.

Back at Noel’s office Renato is sounding like a broken record. It is better to come to the finca. It is more comfortable. Dude, seriously shut.up. You have become a pain in everyone’s ass. If he keeps it up I’m going to start typing “Renato’s lines” because I’ve just about had enough of it. Fortunately for Regina, she’s zoned out thinking about Juan and not listening to a word he said. Renatos lines. Regina says she told him she’s not going to the finca so get over it already. That is my last word. Understand Renato I need to be alone. What part of “I need to be alone” don’t you understand? Renato think she’s being mean to him. She says (and I love this) life is cruel, not me. He sulks and say as you wish. Noel comes in and tells her that her bed is ready. She bids Renato good night. Rest well. He pouts. Maybe he’ll stomp his little foot next to see if that works better.

Aimee has made it back to the finca. It’s amazing how fast that girl can change clothes. Celia is telling her how she saw Renato’s carriage close to the jail. Aimee says it couldn’t have been Renato. Aimee thinks it could have been Noel. Celia says no, Regina and Renato are in the port. Aimee is like well if they are here in town why aren’t they at the finc? She wants Celia to go find out what’s going on. Celia hides her braids from Aimee. If she pulled my hair like that I’d snatch that ugly wig off her pointy little head.

Noel isn’t keen on Regina staying there by herself. Really, she WANTS TO BE ALONE. Why can’t you guys get that through your heads. She says she just needs time to herself. Noel who knows something is going on asks her a very good question--Who really was with Juan? I already told you, it was an attorney. He turns her around so he can look into her eyes. He tells her she is transparent and she can’t lie. He asks her if she loves Juan. She pulls away and says no. No, I don’t love him. Liar!

Aimee is trying to figure out what’s up with Renato. She thinks that if he was in port he would not be able to resist coming to her.

Noel thinks Regina does love Juan. He wants to know why she doesn’t confide in him. Trust me. Tell me what really happened. She says that it was a beautiful dream. That was all. A beautiful dream but I woke up and faced reality. I thought Juan had changed but no. He’s always the same. Noel tells her not to cry. She is the only one that can get him out of this mess. Noel says her soul is in torment. She tells him not to worry for her. She is used to dealing with pain. She knows Noel lives without love also (that’s an understatement) and he shouldn’t worry about her. All I need is a little time by myself to think. Please. He says ok. She thanks him and he does a little bow as he exits. All in all, a very touching scene. Finally, she is alone.

Aimee is dousing herself with perfume. I swear she has a little cloud that follows her just like Pigpen in the Snoopy comics. Can’t you just picture it?! Poor Renato is going to need a gas mask. As she gives herself one more squirt for good luck, in walks Renato. She scampers over to him and gives him a fake hug and tells him she is so glad to see him. She tells him she was so worried about him and the whole Juan thing. He says he didn’t know she was so interested in his life. She says of course, you are my husband. She is so hurt that he thinks she is not interested in his money--uh life. Now she blames everything on Regina, because frankly who doesn’t? You are my husband and I love you. She needs to know that he loves her always. He looks annoyed at her pawing. She starts to seduce him. He falls for it. Oh look--he’s a dumbass too.

Meanwhile Regina is thinking about Juan as we get a picture of Juan thinking about Regina. Regina thinks that Juan continues to be in love with Aimee. Juan in his lonely cell thinks that Regina never loved him.

Renato takes a time out to ask if she really loves him. Of course she does--not. She reminds him about the hijo she’s carrying. I’m about to say Aimee’s lines because it is the SSDD (same sh!t, different day.) She’d rather die than lose him (or his money.) He tells her he forgives her. She is elated that he loves her and forgives her. I think he’s not too sure really but he couldn’t get some from Regina so he figures he might as well get it from Aimee. Kiss me like you did on our wedding night. Steamy love scene. Not much talking going on. FF>>

Clemencia is crying over MdR who is unconscious. She can’t believe it is MdR after all these years. MdR comes to and recognizes Clemencia immediately. They are overjoyed to see each other. MdR asks about her son and Clemencia assures her that her son is not dead. MdR is happy to hear this. She can’t believe it. Jimena told me he was alive. Colibri informs her that he is his capitan. His name is Juan. Juan del Diablo. MdR doesn’t look too happy about that.

Back at the jail Juan is looking pretty rough and half crazy. The guard shouts at him that he has a visitor. It’s Noel. Juan turns away and looks ashamed. Noel says he hates to see Juan in this place. Juan starts babbling about something I didn’t catch.

Aimee and Renato are finished having their make-up sex. Renato looks like he’s thinking “what have I done.” He gets out of bed and starts to get dressed. Aimee’s not happy about it. Renato says he’s confused. Aimee wants them to live like they did. Renato is fed up with her asking questions.

Back at the jail, Noel says something about Renato and Juan tells him that it is all Reanto’s fault that he is in this predicament. I didn’t understand part of this so fill in if you’d like. Noel tells Juan that Regina is going to be at the trial. Juan pauses and smiles at this.

Cut back to Aimee and Renato (yawn) Aimee asks how Regina is. Renato says she’s fine and she’s staying at his father’s office. Aimee makes fun of her. Renato says she constantly reminded him that she was the wife of Juan del Diablo. Aimee finds that funny. She says maybe she wants to live the life of something I couldn’t catch. He gets up and grabs her by the throat. He doesn’t like her talking about Regina like that. She’s afraid of him because he’s acting crazy. Swear to me that Regina confessed nothing. Why do you ask me that? Swear to it! I swear to it. I swear to it for our child.

The boyz finally get Remi to shore.

Juan is worried that Regina is at Finca del Mar with Renato. Noel tells him no. You are mistaken. Regina is staying in my office. He looks surprised. Noel asks him about his future and Juan says he has no future. Juan says something about Renato and Noel says he doesn’t defend Renato. He’s my son but he made an error in trying to rescue Regina. He says something else about Renato and then Juan says it is the same for Aimee. Noel tells him enough already with the attitude. Because he’s not going to listen to it any more. Juan grabs him and says this is the last time you will have to listen to me. He’s pretty much going to tell the judge everything. The truth. He repeats it with a maniacal giggle.

MdR is assuring Clemencia that her son is not Juan del Diablo. He is Juan de Dios. Clemencia says of course he is. Juan de Dios San Roman Montes de Oca. Well, that certainly is a mouthful. MdR is happy about it. She says he has suffered much. Leo told me that my son was dead. Of course she did, she’s a lying heifer. Then she put me with Arcadio. It was awful. I was going crazy. I suffered so much. Jacinta takes me to church on many occasions. She’s afraid, She wants to see her son and asks Clemencia to help her. By now the whole room is crying. Clemencia assures her that everyone will help her. They all help her out of the bed. Jimena is going to write a note to the doctor so he’ll know where she went. Clemencia doesn’t want her to write a note they have Colibri wait behind for the doctor so he can tell them where they went.

Renato is back to threatening Aimee but realizes it is really not worth the trouble. He finishes getting dressed and says he’s got a lot to do and leaves. She begs him to come back when he is finished. He leaves. She goes back to blaming Regina for everything. She hates her, she hates her.

Noel has one question he has to ask Juan. Who was the abogado that was in here earlier? Abogado? I don’t have an attorney. But Regina---Regina? Noel tells him to look him in the eye and listen well, some day you will something I couldn’t hear. You won’t understand now but some day you will. Some day. It’s a dream. I don’t understand. It’s only a dream. He looks sad. What are you saying? Just leave. Leave please. You need to leave. I have to be alone. Please, son, I don’t understand. Noel says ok, I’m out of here. Juan looks at the floor. Noel says good night and turns to leave. He hears a pitiful “Don Noel” behind him. He turns as Juan rushes to him and puts his arms around him in a bear hug and cries like a baby. All the pain and suffering he has endured his whole life comes out in that one moment. He sobs as Noel comforts him.

Regina is still talking to the moon. She remembers the conversation she overheard between Aimee and Juan. She cries for Juan, for his kisses.

Juan pulls himself together and asks Noel to leave. He kisses Noel’s hand and Noel looks a little uncomfortable. Juan promises to live a different life. One full of love. Juan shuffles away as Noel leaves. Juan also talks to the moon. She told me she loved me. I see you love me in your shining eyes. I feel your love when we kiss. You will not abandon me. You wouldn’t betray me. But he still can’t understand why she would write Renato a letter.

Regina thinks that Juan was never hers. He always belonged to Aimee. You were always hers. Your kisses, your passion. You only live for her. She prays to El Senor to help her as we see memories in the background of her and Juan on the ship. She remembers his kisses like fire on her lips. Juan--my pirate, my savage. Juan the traitor. It was only a dream. All for a dream.

At these words, Juan wakes in his cell as we see a rat in the foreground. (That kind of ruined the moment for me.) Only for a dream, only a dream. We get a split screen as the two almost lovers cry for each other.

I want to know what happened to Remi.

El Clon Thursday July 15: Summary for Discussion

Some of you may conclude that I have my beanie fastened too tightly and it is cutting off the oxygen to my brain, but I confess that I still adore this hopelessly romantic novela. And yet… and yet… tonight, my friends, we have a dud. If you taped it but haven’t watched it, you might not want to bother. You decide after reading the summary:

We are at the dance club where Nati is out of her mind on cocaine. The scene keeps cutting back to Enrique telling his story on the psychiatrist’s couch. Besides Fernando and Andrea, Pablo and Diana are also there.

When Diana hears how Malicia told Pablo about Zein and Cristina’s kiss, Diana’s reaction is surprisingly astute. She questions Malicia’s motives and concludes that she is either una tonta o una vibora (a fool or a viper).

Alej comes to Natalia’s rescue. With some difficulty, he persuades her to come home with him. She imagines that someone is following them. (Alguién nos está siguiendo.)

At the Casa Ferrer, Marisa arrives at the appointed hour for her conversation with Leo. He tells her he saw her and Said together. Her response is a shrug:
¿Qué tiene de malo?
What’s wrong with that?/What’s the big deal?
She rejects his suggestion that mixing business with personal affairs is a mistake. If Lucas can chase after Jade, she can be with Said. And I’m with Said for the same reason you go out with your women:
Compañía, amor, cariño, diversion… y que Lucas se vea mal delante de todo el mundo – excelente!
Companionship, love, affection, fun... and if Lucas looks bad in front of everyone – excellent!

At Mohamed’s place, Samira asks Latifa if marriage with a westerner would be more acceptable if a person lived all her life in the United States. Hell no, says Latifa (only she says it more sweetly.) The Naz arrives. While the sisters-in-law bicker about Jade’s intended one-day marriage (a waste of a good man), Samira slips away.

Malicia takes Cristina aside at Salamandra:
No sé como decirte esto… Pablo no era el hombre para ti. Mereces un hombre más poderoso, un multimillonario...
I don’t know how to say this...Pablo wasn’t the man for you. You deserve a more powerful man, a multimillionaire…
Then when Pablo comes in looking for Cristina, the ever-helpful Malicia says:
No sé como decirte esto…Cristina salió con Zein. (Cris left with Zein)
I’m a loyal person, says Pablo, and people walk all over me. And I, says the tragic Malicia, am such a good person that people think I’m naïve, a fool. And my boyfriend isn’t happy about my pregnancy…

That boyfriend is at the moment bursting into Clara’s house demanding to see Fernando. Fer is out dancing and drugging. They bicker. Blablablá. Clara’s date, young Felipe arrives and puts his arm around her shoulders. When Escobar leaves, Clara moves Felipe’s arm away.

Alej has brought Nati back to Gloria’s place and Gloria’s not happy about it. Nati is obviously drugged up and Gloria predicts they are the ones who will be blamed for her behavior. Alej says Nati was at a party and someone slipped something into her lemonade. He begs Gloria to let her stay. She relents saying:
Sólo por esta noche. Mañana vamos a tener una conversación muy seria.
Just for tonight. Tomorrow we’re going to have a very serious conversation.

Ramon tries to poke his nose into things, but Gloria cuts him off and tells him to mind his own business and finish closing the restaurant.

When Albieri gets home, he finds Luisa waiting for him. Don’t lie to me, she says, tell me why Lucas was in this house. Albieri evades the question and says instead:
Yo necesito darle un tiempo a nuestra relación.
I need to give our relationship some time (away)...
Luisa assumes he is asking for a divorce and demands to know who the other woman is. Albieri keeps babbling about needing time alone to take care of some problems, but whatever he says, Luisa insists he must be having an affair In frustration, Albieri says:
Debo estar hablando chino.
I must be speaking Chinese!
Not only that, she also knows that he has been keeping Daniel from her, that he has said she wouldn’t be able to accept him. And Albieri does what he always does. He runs away.

Andrea comes home to find her parents in full interrogation mode. She tells them she was at a disco with her friends and no, she wasn’t smoking. She never lied to us before, says Lucia. Why would you think she’d start now? I guess I’m afraid, says Roberto. I never thought she’d be in danger. This is the kind of thing that happens to other people.

Cut to Enrique on the couch: At first, your family doesn’t notice…

Nati, meanwhile, has snuck into the restaurant and grabbed a bottle (of wine?). Alej catches her chugging it, takes it away and guides her back to bed.

Albieri asks Padre Andres for sanctuary, at least for the night. Andres challenges Albieri. You didn’t destroy your clone, did you? that’s why you’re so nervous. Why don’t you want Daniel to call his mother? Why are you keeping your travel plans a secret from Luisa and Daniel’s mother? Is he really just your godson?

Vicki catches up with Pablo at the gym and tells him there’s nothing between Zein and Cris. The kiss was… just a kiss. What she wants to know is, what’s going on between Pablo and Malicia. She’s an innocent kid, leave her out of this, says Pablo. (Thus demonstrating that he is at least as dumb as Escobar, maybe even dumber since this is an affair with Cristina he’s jeopardizing, for pete’s sake!)

Morning comes. (Gracias a dios. I thought that horrible night would never end). Alej tells Gloria he has an important appointment. He leaves Nati asleep in his room. When Alej has gone, Gloria says to the sleeping Nati:
No voy a dejar que tú dañes el futuro de mi hijo, no te voy a permitir.
I’m not going to let you harm my son’s future, I won’t permit it.

When Carlos asks Samira to go to the beach after school, she says she can’t, she has to take care of her sick mother. It seems like you can never go, he says.

And at home, Amin casually remarks to his parents that Samira is never home. Must be because she’s exhibiting herself in the street like those women in Cairo.

Ali shows up at the house. I haven’t heard from you or Jade lately, he says to Latifa. I think, blurts out Latifa, (much to Mohamed’s displeasure) that Said is preventing Jade from contacting her family. Ali sets off to Said’s house to find out what is going on.

Said’s servant is at that moment telling him that Jade hasn’t eaten anything. Zoraida frets that she will perish from hunger. Well if she does, grumps Said, it’s her own fault. There’s plenty of food in this house.

Enter Ali. I didn’t call him, Zoraida whispers fearfully to Said. Where’s Jade? Ali wants to know. I’m correcting Jade. (Estoy corrigiendo a Jade). He tells Ali what Jade has done to earn her punishment. Ali replies that if a man has to keep his wife locked up in order to hold on to her, then it’s not a marriage. He orders Said to unlock Jade’s room.
¡Que lo abras! Lo estoy ordenando!

Credits roll.

Corazón Salvaje WED 2010-07-14: 'Lulu Should Have Called In Sick'

Episode 103

With only a penetrating pair of eyes revealed by a shawl in the dark cell, Juan happily embraces the woman he thinks to be Regina. But when she springs back and the shawl falls away, it's the red-haired Aimee instead. "Of course - who else? Regina? she spits out derisively. Who else but Aimee would come, against all obstacles! You don't know how difficult it was to get this far.

The grimy, sweaty prisoner, Juan stares at her, stone faced, as she lowers her voice and tone. Who else but me, Juan? she whispers. Your Aimee, she emphasizes, reaching to touch Juan; but he jerks away. The one who loves you with all her heart, she continues; I love you, Juan! she vows. And Juan looks downcast.

On the bluffs where Griselda met her death, Fulgencio now retains his knife point at Servando's throat. The gypsy swearing on his mother that he knows nothing fails to impress Fulgencio, who insists that Servando would sell his own soul to the devil.

When Servando points out he can't investigate the identity of a possible assassin if he's dead, Fulgencio relents -- but expects results. If Servando discovers the secret enemy, he will be well paid, Fulgencio promises.

With Brigitte gone, they are short-staffed at the casino; and when Lulu pines to go directly to Remigio and reveal the truth to him now that he has returned, Phillip insists they need her there. Fifi points out she can go first thing in the morning, and Lulu intends to.

At Dr. Pablo's, he reveals to Remigio a promise made to Juan to take Remigio to see Lulu, if Juan could not do it himself. Remigio can hardly believe he'll finally be able to see her; and in her rooms at the casino, preparing herself for work, Lulu luxuriates in a bubbly bath, thinking of him.

Alone in his office, Noel mulls over Salma's situation: if she is not Mariela's daughter, then she at least knows who the real one is, he concludes. This girl must tell us the truth, he is thinking, when with a start he realizes he is due at the casino and prepares to leave. Just then there is a knock at the office door, and Noel is overjoyed to greet Regina with Renato.

Back at Pablo's, the doctor has managed to squeeze Remigio into a tuxedo for their casino visit, and he insists Remigio looks a perfect gentleman; but Remigio remains doubtful and very uncomfortable. His shoes are killing him, and as he exits rocking slightly side to side in his black and white costume, the soundtrack plays what seem to be penguin calls.

Finishing her bath, Lulu dutifully dons the uniform of her trade: black lace stockings, corset, black-ribbon garter, feather bonnet and crinoline dance skirt. With a melancholy gaze at the mirror, she wistfully imagines telling Remigio the truth, wishing he'll forgive her. He's her only hope for escaping this life; and if he agrees, she thinks happily, she'll marry him right away.

Later downstairs in the cloak room, Pablo chuckles when Remigio swears he can't imagine having to dance in those shoes that are destroying his toes. Inside, a drunken customer gives Lulu a hard time. He cajoles her that she's not very nice to him, despite him being a big roller; he promises big tips, shouts her name "Lulu" out loud over the din so everyone can hear.

Remigio and Pablo are just rounding the landing, when the old goat plants a big kiss on Lulu. Remigio can't miss the scene and is stunned, staring. When Lulu can come up for air, she spies Remigio immediately; and her mouth drops open in abject horror. "Malu," he says to himself and turns, escaping. "Remigio!" she rejoins, running after him, with Fifi and Phillip coming up the rear.

At Noel's office, he's still enjoying the pleasant shock of seeing Regina again. When he assumes she'll want to rest up at home, Renato informs him she refuses to go to the farm. Regina insists she wants to stay in port and has no desire to see either her father or godmother. She's not up for criticisms or sermons; her only worry at that moment is Juan!

When Noel is confused at her worry for Juan, Renato explains Regina insists on seeing Juan at the prison even at this hour of the night, and Noel is astonished. Regina has her rights as his spouse, she maintains. Renato can hardly believe she's sticking to that jerk after all the trouble he went to to save her, but Regina defends Juan and prohibits Renato from insulting him anymore.

The only thing she's interested in, Renato tells his father, is seeing Juan right away; please tell her it's impossible at the moment! he begs. And a criminal like Juan doesn't deserve to be visited! Noel does agree that they need more than the sheriff's authority; but when Regina pleads that she'll go on bended knee before the sheriff, Noel looks perplexed.

He points out that she left there with Juan without loving him, but returns speaking of him as her husband. What changed in you? Noel asks her. Regina turns to Renato and reminds him that he made her marry Juan; and now in the eyes of the church, they are together until death do them part. It's her right and obligation to see Juan! she begs.

Pablo catches up with a furious and wounded Remigio in the casino foyer, which becomes crowded in a hurry, as Lulu et al arrive, too. Remigio is just shouting that Malu is no cook for the casino; she's a ....! when Lulu pulls up next to him, weeping and begging to let her explain. But he cuts her off. Everything is clear, he says: she was just putting one over on some poor working stiff, who fell hopelessly in love with her.

Lulu pitifully croaks out that she does love him. Oh, yeah, Remigio mocks; you love me, gesturing into the casino, as much or even more than those guys you "entertain." Looking her in the eyes, he bites out in a low growl that she has no shame. He's about to say, you're a... when Pablo interrupts and halts him, warning he might say something he'll regret.

But the only thing Remigio regrets is ever pinning his hopes on this woman! Phillip gasps My God! in the background. Lulu tearfully begs Remigio to believe she was going to tell him the truth; but Remigio wants to know when she was going to do that -- after they were married? On their wedding night, she perhaps intended to mention that she had a surprise for him?

Such as "My real name is Lulu, and I belonged to a lot of men before you!" Lulu is horrified and smacks Remigio across the face, shouting Shut up! and pleading that he not humiliate her that way. But he grabs her wrist and spits out that she has humiliated him! And he never wants to see her ever in his life again! Don't seek him out! Remigio tells her as he cruelly pushes her away and exits the casino, with Lulu crying after him.

At Noel's office, he is surprised by Regina's resolve, and he's going to help her see Juan, which news delights and relieves her. Renato thought his father would help Renato himself; but Noel regretfully ceased doing that after Renato went to apprehend Juan, Noel says. If Regina is so determined, that clearly shows him that Juan treated her well, Noel concludes.

And Regina agrees; he treated her like a queen. With a faraway look, she remembers how he transformed her hatred into love. Juan is a good man! she effuses to Noel. And shyly she explains that she fell in love with this wounded man, persecuted since childhood.

She pleads that he already knows that despite all his suffering, Juan still retains a pure and generous heart. Renato can't believe his ears, but Regina's words relieve Noel. He had thought Juan had completely changed and intended to avenge himself on her; but he's happy to see that did not happen, Noel says. When Noel adds his belief that Juan is innocent, Renato has had enough and shouts, That's it!

Juan doesn't need you to defend him, too! His wife is enough. Noel relents and agrees not to argue the point with his son anymore; and when he and Regina rush off to the jail, Renato insists on accompanying them, whether Regina wants it or not. He didn't come all this way just to abandon her when she most needs him, he says; but agrees to let Regina see Juan alone.

Remigio rushes up to the beach shack, ripping his tuxedo jacket off. Dropping onto a seat in his stark white shirt, white tie and white waistcoat, he stares into space, dwelling on Lulu's deceit. She deceived me, he moans, lips quivering and beginning to cry.

She was only toying with me! He glances down and pulls the stopper out of a rum bottle with a pop, then lays his head back and turns it all the way upside down in his mouth, downing big drafts with a sputter. Malu! he cries, piteously, looking heavenward.

Back at the casino upstairs, Phillip tries to comfort Lulu, but she's sure she has lost Remigio now. He'll never forgive her. Phillip kneels and gently reminds her she never told Remigio the truth and now he'll never believe her. Fifi joins in to point out she warned her were Lulu not frank, instead of a happy life she could wind up in a tragedy. Lulu can only cry, "I've lost him, I've lost him!"

At the sheriff's office, he insists to Noel that he can't go against the orders of his superiors: Juan gets no visitors without special permission of a judge. He understands Juan's wife should have every right to see him. The sheriff surprisingly levels with Noel and admits that although Noel might doubt it, the sheriff respects Noel.

Despite that he can't let it get back to his superiors that he violated their orders. Noel tries a different tack and appeals to the sheriff, for the first time in his life to rise to the occasion and do the right thing. The sheriff also is a man of honor, Noel maintains. Something must click in the sheriff, because he draws Noel near to him to explain what they must do.

The next thing we see are two guards in the jail, coming to relieve the standing one. Back in a dark hallway, Noel, Regina and Renato skulk off to the side, waiting. Noel explains they must be careful, that the sheriff gave him a key to use during the changing of the guard. Suddenly, the sheriff appears and pulls all the guards away and takes them off with him somewhere, perhaps as if to brief or debrief them. Noel et al make their move out of the shadows.

At the beach shack, a miserable Remigio continues drinking and torturing himself with sweet memories of meetings with "Malu" that led to their love and betrothal. Then remembering what horrible sights he saw at the casino, Remigio decides how right Juan has been -- that there's nothing worse than betrayal. Gulping more rum, he begins to say that without her, he'd rather... but trails off and turns to reach out to the little devotional niche, where he sadly eventually finds no solace and turns away again in dejection.

In Juan's jail cell, he demands of Aimee where Regina is and whether Regina sent Aimee there. Aimee neither knows nor cares and denies anybody tells her what to do. Except him, she vows. She came there for him! She's on his side, she says, and claims she doesn't want to be a part of this plot her family hatched against him!

He won't let her touch him and can't believe that she loves him, despite her protestations. Without him, nothing is the same, she claims. Meanwhile, outside the prison waiting in the carriage, Celia notices with a start that a carriage in front of them belongs to Renato and worries Renato may discover Aimee there. She decides to just have the driver turn around and wait and see what happens.

Pablo and Gabriel encounter the boyz on the beach, and Pablo explains the rough situation at the casino, asking if they've seen Remigio. Pablo is afraid Remigio's going to do something crazy, and this worries the boyz. They embark on a search for him.

In the jail, when Aimee begs Juan not to abandon her, he throws back in her face that it were she who abandoned him, throttling her with hands around her neck as best he could in manacles. Aimee admits she lied, but tearfully pleads that it was because she feared Renato for her life. She claims she truly loves Juan, and when Juan points out she married Renato instead, Aimee reminds Juan he discarded her as his enemy and didn't want to see her anymore.

Doesn't he remember?! she screams at him. Juan looks a little abashed. Aimee swears she doesn't know why, but he's like a dagger in her heart, a poison! If he only knew how she cried in regret for not leaving with him! Poor Juan looks confused, shaking his head. She knows she was wrong and deserves his hatred, Aimee says. Despite all that, she came to tell him that she loves him and can't live without him.

Rushing to hang on him and gaze into Juan's eyes, Aimee declares she'd rather die than lose him! When all Juan can think of to say is, And what about Regina? Where is Regina? Aimee looks like she wants to kill. Out in the hallway, the three skulkers draw nearer to Juan's cell. Renato tries to insinuate himself into Regina's visit.

Back in the jail cell, Juan angrily demands to know whether Regina is tied up in some plot involving the letter that revealed the Luzbel's location; but Aimee neither knows nor cares about that. Doesn't Juan care that Aimee is there for him? she shouts at him. Juan gives Aimee shake and growls he is only interested in where Regina is and if she's with Renato!

Up on the bluffs high above the ocean, a rum-muddled and inconsolable Remigio asks the night sky why Malu betrayed him -- why she toyed with him. Down in the beach shack Pablo, Gabriel and the boyz find the empty rum bottle and note that Remigio never drinks and is probably going to do something crazy. They search and find him on the cliffs and try to talk him back from the edge; but Remigio is determined.

The only thing he wants is to die, he says. He repeats that now he understands Juan and knows how betrayal can hurt. Remigio steps back off the cliff and falls down, down into the ocean, where all that can be seen is his stark white sleeve and cuff link in the inky water. His friends search for him along the shore in a boat.

In Juan's cell, Aimee explains that all she knows is Renato changed completely after he saw a letter from Regina. When Aimee asks if Regina wanted to get back at him for torturing her, Juan of course denies anything like that happened. In truth, Regina never hurt him at all; it's Aimee who's the liar. Regina is only a victim, Juan concludes, of Aimee's evil and intrigue. And of the selfishness and jealousy of Renato.

Aimee is laughing at him, claiming that for someone who is supposed to be such a savage, he's as naive as a newborn. The only victims here are the two of them, Aimee says. Victims of Regina and Renato. Outside in the hallway, Noel has had it with Renato and forbids him to go into the cell with Regina; Renato promised he'd let her see Juan alone, and he relents. So off Regina goes, inching down the dark hallway.

Remigio's friends in the boat finally discover him, clinging unconscious to a chunk of driftwood. But there's worse: they see a shark fin slicing through the dark water on it's way toward their unsuspecting friend. The friends are beside themselves with fear and screaming in terror for him. In only a moment the shark slams into Remigio, who awakens in shock and pain. There's blood on the water; lots of blood.

In Juan's jail cell, he's the one laughing at Aimee calling herself a victim. But she means both of them. Think about it; he's in jail as a fugitive from the law. Renato's been determined to convict Juan since he discovered from Regina's diary that she was in love with Renato, Aimee explains. Page after page about the ENORMOUS love she has for Renato, Aimee demonstrates by waiving both arms around in the air.

Juan doesn't think Regina loves Renato anymore, he says. Aimee's not so sure and alleges Regina sent Renato after Juan. She doesn't love him, Juan repeats. Does...not...love.. him. Well, Renato is definitely interested in Regina, Aimee says, and wants to get rid of herself. Whatever Juan says in court about their past together is going to hurt her; so he has to keep quiet, Aimee insists.

If he doesn't, they're going to throw the book at him for smuggling and piracy. If he doesn't cause a scandal, Aimee will fix it so that the family and Renato -- especially Renato -- leave him alone, she claims. It's she who can save him, if he keeps quiet. She can save him, because she loves him; she'll always love him.

She's his forever, like he is hers. Nobody can tear him out of her heart. Outside we can see Regina approaching Juan's cell door, just as Aimee sidles up to Juan and begins to give him a kiss to convince him. Juan pushes Aimee away, but only after lingering a moment, and the damage is done. Regina weeps silently, looking on.

Dinero # 154 7/14/2010 The return of the black panther

Sorry this will have to be a short one tonight. Got home late and have an early morning. I know I missed a lot and didn't add much vocab. Please feel free to add and or correct.

We have last nights leftovers, with Marco overjoyed with Ale’s so called change of heart. She is asking him to be patient with her. Marco assures her nothing will ruin their relationship this time. Everything will be different. He tells her he will not make the same mistakes. Ale looks like she is getting root canal as Marco goes to kiss her goodnight. She tells him they will talk in the morning. He tells her to have a good night and dream about him. She walks to the corner and says a little silent prayer and we hear Marco’s inner demon saying “ It doesn’t matter what she feels or doesn’t feel for me I am going to get married under whatever conditions she wants.”

Is that birthday party still going on? Yep. Marino first gets mad at Ramirez for ditching the lovely lady he set him up with than gets mad at Pepito for dancing with her. Then Dandy sees an opportunity to take over from Pepito. Marino is less happy with this and goes after Dandy as well asking him what would his little vegetarian think about this. Our poor young woman just wants to have fun and she isn‘t having any fun with Ramirez. She tells Sandra she is leaving. When Sandra asks why she tells her because Marino ruined it, grabs her purse and angrily tells her they will talk in the morning. Ramirez is also off as he thanks Marino for the party. He has a lady waiting for him.

Over at Rafa’s house we have some one else who has ruined all of Vicky’s fun. Vicky has poor Rafa half undressed when Lenora walks in and tells Vicky it is about time she goes home. Vicky tries to talk Rafa into going somewhere else and Rafa begs off. Once Vicky leaves he gratefully thanks Lenora. Than he tells her he has good news. He got his car back. (oh the simple pleasures of life.)

Rafa, Lenora and Juliette all go outside to celebrate. They have a toast to welcome back the panther. Rafa also has to make sure it still starts. And they have another drink.

Ale tip toes to her new bedroom with her new roommate Tia Rosario, peacefully asleep. Ale says a little prayer to God to forgive her for using Marco like this. After all she has to do something to get Rafa to react. We have Rafa in his room praying to Santa Claus to help him not allow Ale to marry Marco.

Marino is now charming Sandra. She asks him if he is married, divorced, or separated. He tells her none of the three. He is single, that is until she decides otherwise. She asks him if he has any children and Marino chokes a little bit and says no but a little girl would make them both crazy. (Was that a pick-up line?)

Our cartoon rooster is on the picket fence letting us all know a new day has begun. Rafa’s phone rings and he is all excited thinking it is Ale. He’s not that lucky. It is Vicky. She wants some help with writing their wedding vows. Rafa tells her is he quite busy and Vicky says not to worry she will write them for the both of them. Over at camp Marco, Ale’s phone rings. She is all excited thinking it might be Rafa. Nope it is Marco calling from the bar telling her he loves her. She has no reply to this. He wants to know if he should come and get her later so they could have lunch together. She tells him she will be to busy but will call him later.

The Siglo crew have arrived at Auto Siglo. We have some talk about last night’s festivities. Claudia get’s a phone call from Marco and fines a secluded corner to talk with him. Gossip girl (Rosaura) not far behind, manages to sneak a listen. Marco is drilling her for information about Rafa and Ale. Claudia wants to know if something is going on between them. Marco offended by this tells her that he and Ale are getting Married. Claudia is quite surprised by this news, but not as surprised as Marco is to hear that Ale hasn’t told anyone yet. Marco informs her that Rafa isn’t the great salesman he is pretending to be. She can’t believe this.

Rafa shows up to Siglo and tells Susana to get everyone ready for the meeting. Then he asks her to get the door fixed to his office.

Rosaura wants Claudia to share her gossip. Who is getting married? Claudia tells her it is Ale and Marco. Rosaura is stunned at this news. Aren’t they fighting? Claudia tells her they are getting married at the end of the month. Now it is Claudia’s turn to grill Rosaura about Rafa’s resume. Did she see it? Does she remember what it said? (for all of you who didn’t see this from the beginning Rafa’s original resume wasn’t up to Ale’s standards and she and Susana made up a bunch of things so Beltran would hire him. That‘s the resume that Rosaura saw.) She tells Claudia about all his wonderful experience and all of his schooling. Claudia’s little brain is a whirl as she takes this all in. Rosaura wants to know why she is interested. Claudia says just curious, and slyly changes the subject.

The funniest scene of the whole night. Marco answers his phone and can barely hear who is on the other end. It is Chavez. Marco wants to know where in the devil is he. He is in Bagdad sitting crossed legged sucking on a rubber hose dressed in a white gown complete with a checkered head dress. (I fell off my chair). He tells him he can’t imagine how much he misses Mexico. “The people are really strange. And the women are covered up to their heads and you can barely see their eyes and she can’t say anything witty to them. And no they don’t sell whiskey any where and every so often bullets go flying by. I just want to come back, no matter what happens.” Marco tells him he has good news. He is going to get married. Chavez asks “Who, Carmela?” Marco tells him not to be an idiot, who else, Ale. Chavez is quite surprised and wants to know how that happened. Marco tells him it was Ale who asked him to marry her. He tells him that in order for the old man to make it to the wedding it is really important to find Ruby (yes!!) and make her return to Mexico. He tells Marco he doesn’t speak English and if he tries to speak English everyone gives him ugly looks and yells at him. He doesn’t think they really like the gringos. And of course he doesn’t speak “Iraqui”. Marco yells at him and tells him to call him when he finds Ruby and hangs up him.

Chavez is left thinking that this all sounds quite strange. Marco tells him he is going to marry Ale but it is important that he find Ruby and in the meantime Marco is having a great time (pasar la bomba ) while bombs are literally passing over Chavez head. Maybe he was lying about Carmela and he just wanted to get him out of the country so he could take his place at the Hacienda. Just than bombs drop and Chavez tells himself to stop thinking bad things about his good friend Marco.

Ale has arrived dressed in a very smart royal blue pantsuit. She asks Susana if Rafa has showed up yet. She also wants to know when they are going to put the door up in her office. Susana informs her that Rafa has already asked about this. Ale seems miffed at this and heads off to the meeting

Trapito drops off a few things for Susana. A care package for Rosaura and a manila envelope for Ale. Inside is a wedding invitation. We are given no further information.

We have our little meeting. Ale is disappointed in the sales. Everyone has an excuse. Marino certain he has the most sales is quite outraged when Dandy corrects him and reminds him about the deal they made regarding the sales to Sandra. Rafa and Marino almost come to blows a few times. Marino starts on about all the improper mingling that is going on. He refers to Dandy and Susana and Rafa and Ale. Rafa ends up grabbing Marino and kicking him out of the meeting.

Marino huffs up rudely and tells Susan he needs to talk to Beltran. Susana puts him in his place and tells him not to talk to her like that. She tells him Beltran hasn’t arrived yet. We have a scene with Dona Arcadia and her secretary who is telling her Marino wants to talk to her. She doesn’t want to see him. She tells him to tell Marino she can see him in the year 2020. She would rather talk to her dogs than him.

Our final scene is back in the meeting room where Rosaura is asking Ale about her wedding. Isn’t she getting married at the end of the month? Rafa has the same root canal expression on his face as he looks over at Ale.
