La Fuerza del Destino #3 Thu 08/04/11 La Fuerza de Lucrezia's powers of bitchiness
Uh oh…so far I'm liking this one…let's see if I can still bring the snark….
In the refrito, when Doña Carmen says that the blood of Lucrezia *cough* Borgia's *cough* dad is also in Alicia and Ivan, Lucrezia replies "and who knows who else's!"
Ivan and his cousin chat about girls in the awkward way that only two adolescent boys who really don't know jack about girls can.
At the fancy-pants private school, one of the other girls tells Maripaz that boarding school is really a great place to hook up with guys. Maripaz has a thing for the gringos. Just keep your hands off mine and we're square.
Alicia thinks she's gotten free of that jackass Juan Jaime, but Celia is doubtful. "Juan Jaime doesn't forget snubs!" Alicia now waxes rhapsodic about how Gerardo is just sooooo nice and sooooo dreamy. Sadly, I'm beginning to think Ivan must have gotten his brains from his jackass dad, cause mami seems woefully lacking in the common sense department. Celia asks if Gerardo's looking to get a little something on the side. Alicia claims she's totally over the married man thing, fo sho!
Ivan sneaks around, watching Maripaz's birthday party. He chats with the puppy about how Maripaz is allegedly his girlfriend because he kissed her, but there she is hanging out with all her friends. The gardener surprises him talking to the dog, Pipo (short for "Felipe," don't ask me why; I had a cousin Felipe we always called Pipo), but Ivan says the dog just listens, he doesn't talk back. The gardener asks if he plans on taking first prize in math here like he did at his old school, and Ivan, showing off his diamond-hard ego once again, says he will. They are distracted by the guests singing Las Mañanitas for Maripaz.
The scene switches between her pink cake to a blue cake for Camilo and everyone singing to him. Celia insists the boys blow out the candles together since Ivan turned 14 last week. Man, that is one blue cake!
The boys sneak out later to the red light district. So much for my efforts at lip reading, it's too dark! Basically, older bro tells the boys they're not getting laid since it would be too expensive for both of them. He tells them not to "chivear" (get embarassed). This is a friend's house. I think Ivan asks if she's a "puta" (prostitute, whore) and older bro's like "duh!" He tells the boys that he told everyone they were "enanos" (little people), then says he was just kidding. He knocks on the door and tells the older woman who answers that Angelina is expecting them. The boys go into the living room to wait and Ivan admires the upside-down San Antonio painting (this is supposed to help women find husbands…a little optimistic for a working girl, no?). Angelina comes in and we are spared any further details of this night's misdeeds. If, in fact, there were any.
In the kitchen the next morning, Ivan is scarfing down some breakfast as the gardener asks when the school term ends. "Friday" mumbles Ivan around a mouthful of food. He gets scolded. The other maid says while the family leaves town, she's going to ask for some vacation time.
Ivan runs outside to ask Maripaz where they're going, "Estados Unidos," and for how long, "What's it to you?" Well, it does matter to Ivan, cause he's in luuuuuuuuurve *snort*. He offers to do her math homework, since she sucks at math (ah, I think I'm beginning to see the resemblance to his mother after all). Maripaz fills in a few more details about the trip. They're visiting a friend of her mom's and she's probably going to stay and go to boarding school. Ivan is willing to admit that he cares that he might not see her again and Maripaz says she cares a little. If we were talking about her lip gloss and not Ivan, I might believe her.
It's assembly day at school and sure enough, Ivan takes the prize for math.
Five months later, Lucia comes running up to Ivan on the lawn to tell him that Maripaz sent a letter. She said she gets lots of homework at school and she might not come home for Christmas because she wants to go to a camp and learn how to ski. "Ski? What for?" To pick up rich gringos, dude. Try to keep up.
More time passes and Lucia and Ivan hang out by the pool. Lucia tells him her parents are kind of pissed that Maripaz hasn't come home once since they sent her to boarding school. Here's a tip: if you actually want to see your kid, don't send them to boarding school. They commiserate about missing Maripaz (Seriously? Why?) and then start splashing each other with water from the pool.
Ivan runs with the dog, who has now grown up enough that I can tell it's a doberman. Ivan then grows up enough that I can tell he's David Zepeda. Hubba hubba. This is years later, and the maid uniform Alicia is wearing is now lavender. She calls Ivan inside to eat his breakfast before it gets cold. As he goes inside, he runs into Lucia, who now bears somewhat of a resemblance to Natalie Portman. Natalucia tells him that Maripaz is finally coming home. She's going to spend the summer (and get knocked up). Ivan pretends not to care, but Natalucia isn't buying it. She chases him into his room. He's on his way to school for the day. She asks him to take her out on Saturday. He won't do it unless her mom gives permission, which she wont. Lucia just wants some time alone with him. To talk. Uh huh, talk, riiiiight…. Ivan offers to get a tub of ice cream and take it out to the back garden and he, she, and Pipo can eat it. Is that ok for dogs to be eating ice cream? And for young impressionable girls to be sitting out in the back garden on a Saturday night eating ice cream with David Zepeda? I dunno. I think I should chaperone. And someone should accidentally on purpose lock Lucia in the bathroom on Saturday afternoon.
Alicia is cleaning one of the guest rooms when Lucrezia Borgia and Carlota walk in, talking about how Maripaz is coming home and needs her own room. Lucrezia nominates this one, and so she tells Alicia to clean EVERYTHING, the floors, the walls…she doesn't want a speck of dust left! Alicia good-naturedly tells her frickin' no-good HALF-SISTER "yes ma'am." Lucrezia doesn't like the curtains and wants to replace them, but Carlota reminds her they don't have money to burn. Lucrezia Borgia says that's all her fault, her and that useless man…she turns on Alicia and says "aren't you supposed to be doing your chores? You have nothing to do here! Get out of here!" Having a little problem with our short-term memory, are we Lucrezia? Alicia leaves the room as Lucrezia calls her a "metiche" (gossip).
Alicia runs into Gerardo in the kitchen and fills him in on Lucrezia's plans. She says Lucrezia's "excited" and wants everything to shine. Wow. She is way too nice for her own good. Gerardo supposes that means more work for her. "It doesn't matter. I like to work!" Oh, and little birds dress her in the morning too, I'm sure. Gerardo thinks they won't be able to see each other as much now that Maripaz is coming home (what the what? A little clarification on that better be forthcoming!). He suggests they have Ivan drive them to the airport to pick her up.
Ivan whines about not wanting to. He has something to do on Sunday.
Ivan ends up driving the family, minus Carlota, to the airport. He parks the SUV and gets out to stretch his legs. That ain't all that stretches when an all-grown-up Maripaz sashays up in a hot pink zippered dress. Too graphic? I just call it like I see it. Maripaz complains about the long flight IN COACH! With a bunch of "nacos" (low-class, trashy people). Couldn't they have bought her a first class ticket? *whine, whine, whine* Lucia tries to cheer her up with news about her now having her own room. Ivan loads the bags as Maripaz looks at him worriedly. She pretends not to remember him, but then grins at him as she says it's quite warm. Gerardo yells at them to get in the car already. Maripaz meets Ivan's eyes in the rearview. If they make it back alive it will be a miracle.
Once they get home, Lucrezia and Lucia try to offer Maripaz some food, but she insists all she wants is a shower. Lucrezia tells Lucia to back off, can't she see her sister is "watching her figure" and oh, doesn't she look pretty! Shut up Lucrezia. Just shut. Up.
Ivan unloads the SUV and Cleto, the gardener, comes out to help him. He jokes about needing to work out more so he can be as buff as Ivan and have all the girls chasing after him. Ivan is talked into letting Cleto help him with the bags.
Carlota is thrilled to see Maripaz and wants her to sit and chat. Maripaz begs off. Lucrezia shouts to Alicia to bring Maripaz's bags to her room. The ladies all go to see Maripaz's room. Alicia tries to take the bags from Ivan, but Gerardo insists that Ivan should take them. "But La Señora will get angry!" Ivan takes the bags and Gerardo says she might have been able to carry the bags, but he doesn't want her to hurt her back. Once everyone is gone, he tells her he wishes he could do more for her.
Lucrezia has decorated Maripaz's room with enough flowers to make me want to sneeze! Ivan comes in with the bags and gets yelled at for not being his mother. Lucrezia tells him to send his mother in to unpack the bags. Ivan leaves and Maripaz asks if he's always so serious. Lucrezia insists he's a servant, but Carlota argues that he's not a servant, he's doing them favors. "Don't I feed him? As big as he is, he must eat a lot, he has to compensate us somehow!" She complains that he's an "alzado" (uppity). Lucia defends him, but Lucrezia says she's heard that Lucia spends a lot of time with him and she wants that to stop. Lucia tries to argue, but gets shouted down. Maripaz goes to take a shower. Carlota starts in on Lucrezia and tells her to lay off the kid already. She repeats that he's alzado and storms out of the room. Lucia doesn't understand why her mom doesn't like Ivan. Carlota says not to pay attention to her, that's just the way her mother is. Alicia comes in to put the clothes away.
In town, Ivan and Camilo talk about the return of Maripaz. Ivan admits she's still really pretty. "And? Did she remember you?" Ivan doesn't know. He says she's just as "pesada" (a pain) as always. Camilo reminds him that he used to have such a thing for her! Ivan says yeah, but it's been years. Why does it look like someone's smacked him in the mouth? He's done with the semester yesterday. Camilo invites him to a party. Ivan asks about work at his dad's warehouse. He's willing to accept a job as a "cargador"(loader) to save up some money. Camilo reminds him it's for the big house with servants and airplanes, right!
Maripaz and Lucia talk about Ivan. Maripaz is still hung up on Ivan being the son of the servant. Lucia waxes rhapsodic about Ivan's big…uh, brains. And all the prizes he's won. Lucia denies being in love. She just likes him. Maripaz says that Ivan needs a real woman, not a little girl. She met men out there in Colorado, and she could just snap her fingers and have any one she wanted! Not that she wants Ivan. Riiiiight.
At the dinner table, Maripaz whines about wanting a caaaaar, and wanting to invite her frieeeeends over. Carlota thinks she's old enough now to know the truth. The family's finances aren't so great, in part because of the drought they've been having in the area, among other things. "Including your father's ineptitude." Ouch! Check your balls, Gerry, I think they might be in Lucrezia's purse. Lucrezia Borgia says once they've recovered their losses, Maripaz can have her car. How about once Maripaz gets a damn job and saves up she can have her own damn car. Lucrezia offers to lend Maripaz her car in the meantime. And luckily, Maripaz learned how to drive at school. Yay? Lucrezia suggests she take another course here, just to practice. But nooooo, that just sounds too boring for our little princess. She wants that guy, what was his name, oh let me think, oh, Ivan! Right, Ivan, can't he give me some…ahem…refresher lessons? Lucrezia says hell no! She doesn't want Maripaz near him. Maripaz says it will just be a few times *cough* and really it doesn't make any sense to pay for a school when he's right there, so conveniently located. She appeals to her dad, who doesn't give a rat's ass.
Ivan hangs out with Pipo on the lawn. Gerardo comes out to ask him how the semester went. He asks, as a favor, for Ivan to teach Maripaz how to drive. Ivan says he's already accepted a job with a friend's dad and he doesn't want to back out of it. Gerardo says he could do it after work. Just half an hour a day for a few days should do it. She took a class in the US. Easy-peasy, right? Ivan agrees and Gerardo tells him to set it up with Maripaz.
Lucrezia Borgia is on the phone to someone she's sure Maripaz will want to see. Judith. Carlota tells Lucrezia that she didn't have a chance to say it sooner, but she doesn't think she should be saying in front of the girls that Gerardo is useless. "It's the truth." "No, it's not! He's just not a good farmer, and you shouldn't have forced him." Lucrezia says he's not good for anything, not even as a man. Oh, please Carlota, don't ask for clarification…she does. Lucrezia can't remember the last time they made love. Well, hell, woman, who would want to screw you?! Carlota says it's obvious they can't stand each other, but that doesn't mean she can "taconear" (stomp on) him in front of the kids. "Why not? They should at least see the kind of father they have!" Henpecked to death? Married to a heinous bitch? Lucrezia doesn't care what Carlota thinks. Carlota says she'll continue to give her opinion, regardless. Gerardo's a good guy, just a little lacking in personality. "A little?" "And you've castrated him! How's he supposed to want to…you know…when you treat him like a dog?!" "I treat him the way he deserves to be treated and as for…you know…I don't care about that." Carlota suggests divorce and that goes over about as well as could be expected. Heaven forbid we have a scandal! Carlota doesn't want her to talk smack about Gerardo in front of the girls again and Lucrezia tells her to butt out of her marriage. "Fine, but I'm not going to allow you to turn my granddaughters against Gerardo! Do it again and I'll tell them the truth." Oh? What truth? "That you're a bitch. And you've rejected Gerardo's suggestions about the management of the ranch. That the administrator and the workers don't do what he says because you've never given him his place in front of them. And that a lot of the mistakes that were made were your fault. So if we're so screwed, there's blame enough to share." "Vieja metiche!" Ooh, bitch just called her mama a nosy old bitch! She's going straight to hell for that one, do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars! And as for Carlota, I like her! I hope she makes it to the end.
Lucia is out back, being moody. She runs over to Ivan as soon as she sees him. He's going to that party at his friend's house. "Is she your girlfriend?" Well, no, cause he doesn't have one. Lucia asks about teaching Maripaz to drive. Yeah, he knows. And he doesn't care. Lucia says Maripaz is locked in her room with Judith and they kicked her out. He says they're just talking about stuff she's too young to hear about. Lucia says she's not a kid! Ivan says he won't be out late and he promises to behave. He gives her a kiss on the cheek. Didn't we establish that by 13-year-old-boy logic this means they're dating? Mr. 5ft opines that she's never washing that cheek again and I'm inclined to agree with him.
Maripaz fills Judith in on the plan for driving lessons, lying about the car situation and saying they don't want to get her one until she's more familiar with the streets. *snort!* Judith tells her that Ivan is widely regarded among her friends at the university as a hottie. And she doesn't care about the class difference. After all, she's not looking at him as marriage material, just as someone to, you know, pass the time with. Unfortunately, she's heard that he doesn't just play hard to get, he IS hard to get. Maripaz says he's nothing special. She met hotter guys in "Den-fer." She figures if Ivan hasn't succumbed to the charms of any of her shallow, stupid friends he must be gay (something about "oriente" orientation? Otro oriente? Batting for the other team?). Maripaz claims to have left a LOT of boyfriends back in Denfer. And to have had tons of sex. Judith hasn't, though. She's worried about getting pregnant. Maripaz isn't, though. She's got birth control pills.
Maripaz meets Ivan for her first driving lesson. She gets behind the wheel and he tells her to take the SUV out the gate and he'll close it behind her. Lucia wants to go, but Maripaz drives off. Ivan says maybe next time and tells her she looks pretty today.
Maripaz already knows how to drive. She asks Ivan not to refer to her as "usted." She thinks it's ridiculous for two young people to address each other that way. Ivan says they should have brought Lucia. "What for? So she could talk the whole time?"
Lucia complains to Carlota about Maripaz taking off without her. Carlota reminds her that Maripaz is now a young woman. Lucia tries to insist she is too, but Carlota says she's somewhere between a girl and a young woman. Lucia doesn't want Maripaz going out alone with Ivan. "He's my friend, not hers!" And she doesn't want to share him. "She's too flirty! And she says she can get any man she wants just like that!" She snaps her fingers. Carlota doesn't think Ivan's going to be won over with some finger snapping. Lucia grins and agrees. "But I don't like that you're so attached to him, either. Ivan, someday, he'll go live his life away from you and from this house." "I don't want him to leave! Ever!"
Alicia makes out a grocery list ("espinaca" spinach). Gerardo asks to see her while she's out getting groceries. "If I'm late la señora will get mad!" Gerardo says they won't be long, he just wants to talk to her. Alicia rushes off.
Ivan goes running back to the car, having bought Maripaz some cigarettes. He won't smoke one, though, cause it's not healthy. "One every once in a while isn't so bad. But I don't dare in the house, cause my mom would probably make wash my mouth out with soap!" She blows smoke in his face. She asks him why he wants to be an engineer. Mostly to get a good job and take care of his mom. "You won't get to be a millionaire." "You don't have to be a millionaire to be happy." Maripaz admits she always figured she'd marry a rich man. "And if you fell in love with a poor man?" That depends. Maripaz says she could fall in love with a poor guy like him. "Don't play around with me Maripaz. I don't like that kind of joke." He gets back in the car to resume the driving "lesson."
Alicia sneaks into a little hideaway with Gerardo, observed by her comadre Celia. She tells him she can only stay for a little while. They kiss. He just needed to talk. It's the same as always, but every day he feels like he can put up with Lucrezia a little less. She actually said in front of the girls that he was useless! What will they think of him? Alicia says they'll just think Mami was in a bad mood. Gerardo says he feels like a stranger in his own house, unable to make decisions because she criticizes every one. He always ends up doing what she wants. Alicia tells him to be calm and not let her get to him. Gerardo thinks he should leave her, but Alicia says they won't see each other as often if he does that. Gerardo suggests bringing her with him and telling everyone she's coming along to keep house for him. Alicia worries someone might suspect. She never asked him for anything more than what they have, just these few stolen moments together. Wow, she's the most cheerful, reassuring adulteress ever!
Ivan loads produce into a truck. Camilo tries to convince him to knock off early and go have a beer, but Ivan is meeting Maripaz after this. Some jackass comes in and mocks them, saying they'll never get rich loading trucks. It's Marceloooooo Cordova, aka Tialoving Abuelokiller, and he is Camilo's big bro Antolin. He proposes that Ivan make some quick cash being a rich old broad's boy toy. Ivan is so not into it! He says he's not "padrote" (a pimp) nor does he "batear por el otro lado" (bat for the other side). Maybe I misunderstood Antolin's business proposition…when were men brought into this? Or is this a standard pitch and dating a rich old guy was going to be the follow-up? Camilo gripes at him for making the indecent proposal and Antolin goes back to mocking them both.

Ivan says he's not, but this seems pointless--she already knows how to drive. Maripaz pouts and says she knows he likes spending time with her, but he pretends not to. Ivan just points out again that she already knows how to drive and if she wants to talk, she's got friends for that. "Can't we be friends?" "Your mother won't allow it." "Oh, please, why do you think I said I needed to practice driving?" She takes off his glasses. He says when he picked her up at the airport, it seemed like she didn't like him. "What? Did you want me to run up and grab you and ask how you were doing?" She admits she remembered him…or at least, she remembered him doing her math homework and kissing her on the cheek. Ivan whines about not wanting to. He has something to do on Sunday.
Ivan ends up driving the family, minus Carlota, to the airport. He parks the SUV and gets out to stretch his legs. That ain't all that stretches when an all-grown-up Maripaz sashays up in a hot pink zippered dress. Too graphic? I just call it like I see it. Maripaz complains about the long flight IN COACH! With a bunch of "nacos" (low-class, trashy people). Couldn't they have bought her a first class ticket? *whine, whine, whine* Lucia tries to cheer her up with news about her now having her own room. Ivan loads the bags as Maripaz looks at him worriedly. She pretends not to remember him, but then grins at him as she says it's quite warm. Gerardo yells at them to get in the car already. Maripaz meets Ivan's eyes in the rearview. If they make it back alive it will be a miracle.
Once they get home, Lucrezia and Lucia try to offer Maripaz some food, but she insists all she wants is a shower. Lucrezia tells Lucia to back off, can't she see her sister is "watching her figure" and oh, doesn't she look pretty! Shut up Lucrezia. Just shut. Up.
Ivan unloads the SUV and Cleto, the gardener, comes out to help him. He jokes about needing to work out more so he can be as buff as Ivan and have all the girls chasing after him. Ivan is talked into letting Cleto help him with the bags.
Carlota is thrilled to see Maripaz and wants her to sit and chat. Maripaz begs off. Lucrezia shouts to Alicia to bring Maripaz's bags to her room. The ladies all go to see Maripaz's room. Alicia tries to take the bags from Ivan, but Gerardo insists that Ivan should take them. "But La Señora will get angry!" Ivan takes the bags and Gerardo says she might have been able to carry the bags, but he doesn't want her to hurt her back. Once everyone is gone, he tells her he wishes he could do more for her.
Lucrezia has decorated Maripaz's room with enough flowers to make me want to sneeze! Ivan comes in with the bags and gets yelled at for not being his mother. Lucrezia tells him to send his mother in to unpack the bags. Ivan leaves and Maripaz asks if he's always so serious. Lucrezia insists he's a servant, but Carlota argues that he's not a servant, he's doing them favors. "Don't I feed him? As big as he is, he must eat a lot, he has to compensate us somehow!" She complains that he's an "alzado" (uppity). Lucia defends him, but Lucrezia says she's heard that Lucia spends a lot of time with him and she wants that to stop. Lucia tries to argue, but gets shouted down. Maripaz goes to take a shower. Carlota starts in on Lucrezia and tells her to lay off the kid already. She repeats that he's alzado and storms out of the room. Lucia doesn't understand why her mom doesn't like Ivan. Carlota says not to pay attention to her, that's just the way her mother is. Alicia comes in to put the clothes away.
In town, Ivan and Camilo talk about the return of Maripaz. Ivan admits she's still really pretty. "And? Did she remember you?" Ivan doesn't know. He says she's just as "pesada" (a pain) as always. Camilo reminds him that he used to have such a thing for her! Ivan says yeah, but it's been years. Why does it look like someone's smacked him in the mouth? He's done with the semester yesterday. Camilo invites him to a party. Ivan asks about work at his dad's warehouse. He's willing to accept a job as a "cargador"(loader) to save up some money. Camilo reminds him it's for the big house with servants and airplanes, right!
Maripaz and Lucia talk about Ivan. Maripaz is still hung up on Ivan being the son of the servant. Lucia waxes rhapsodic about Ivan's big…uh, brains. And all the prizes he's won. Lucia denies being in love. She just likes him. Maripaz says that Ivan needs a real woman, not a little girl. She met men out there in Colorado, and she could just snap her fingers and have any one she wanted! Not that she wants Ivan. Riiiiight.
At the dinner table, Maripaz whines about wanting a caaaaar, and wanting to invite her frieeeeends over. Carlota thinks she's old enough now to know the truth. The family's finances aren't so great, in part because of the drought they've been having in the area, among other things. "Including your father's ineptitude." Ouch! Check your balls, Gerry, I think they might be in Lucrezia's purse. Lucrezia Borgia says once they've recovered their losses, Maripaz can have her car. How about once Maripaz gets a damn job and saves up she can have her own damn car. Lucrezia offers to lend Maripaz her car in the meantime. And luckily, Maripaz learned how to drive at school. Yay? Lucrezia suggests she take another course here, just to practice. But nooooo, that just sounds too boring for our little princess. She wants that guy, what was his name, oh let me think, oh, Ivan! Right, Ivan, can't he give me some…ahem…refresher lessons? Lucrezia says hell no! She doesn't want Maripaz near him. Maripaz says it will just be a few times *cough* and really it doesn't make any sense to pay for a school when he's right there, so conveniently located. She appeals to her dad, who doesn't give a rat's ass.
Ivan hangs out with Pipo on the lawn. Gerardo comes out to ask him how the semester went. He asks, as a favor, for Ivan to teach Maripaz how to drive. Ivan says he's already accepted a job with a friend's dad and he doesn't want to back out of it. Gerardo says he could do it after work. Just half an hour a day for a few days should do it. She took a class in the US. Easy-peasy, right? Ivan agrees and Gerardo tells him to set it up with Maripaz.
Lucrezia Borgia is on the phone to someone she's sure Maripaz will want to see. Judith. Carlota tells Lucrezia that she didn't have a chance to say it sooner, but she doesn't think she should be saying in front of the girls that Gerardo is useless. "It's the truth." "No, it's not! He's just not a good farmer, and you shouldn't have forced him." Lucrezia says he's not good for anything, not even as a man. Oh, please Carlota, don't ask for clarification…she does. Lucrezia can't remember the last time they made love. Well, hell, woman, who would want to screw you?! Carlota says it's obvious they can't stand each other, but that doesn't mean she can "taconear" (stomp on) him in front of the kids. "Why not? They should at least see the kind of father they have!" Henpecked to death? Married to a heinous bitch? Lucrezia doesn't care what Carlota thinks. Carlota says she'll continue to give her opinion, regardless. Gerardo's a good guy, just a little lacking in personality. "A little?" "And you've castrated him! How's he supposed to want to…you know…when you treat him like a dog?!" "I treat him the way he deserves to be treated and as for…you know…I don't care about that." Carlota suggests divorce and that goes over about as well as could be expected. Heaven forbid we have a scandal! Carlota doesn't want her to talk smack about Gerardo in front of the girls again and Lucrezia tells her to butt out of her marriage. "Fine, but I'm not going to allow you to turn my granddaughters against Gerardo! Do it again and I'll tell them the truth." Oh? What truth? "That you're a bitch. And you've rejected Gerardo's suggestions about the management of the ranch. That the administrator and the workers don't do what he says because you've never given him his place in front of them. And that a lot of the mistakes that were made were your fault. So if we're so screwed, there's blame enough to share." "Vieja metiche!" Ooh, bitch just called her mama a nosy old bitch! She's going straight to hell for that one, do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars! And as for Carlota, I like her! I hope she makes it to the end.
Lucia is out back, being moody. She runs over to Ivan as soon as she sees him. He's going to that party at his friend's house. "Is she your girlfriend?" Well, no, cause he doesn't have one. Lucia asks about teaching Maripaz to drive. Yeah, he knows. And he doesn't care. Lucia says Maripaz is locked in her room with Judith and they kicked her out. He says they're just talking about stuff she's too young to hear about. Lucia says she's not a kid! Ivan says he won't be out late and he promises to behave. He gives her a kiss on the cheek. Didn't we establish that by 13-year-old-boy logic this means they're dating? Mr. 5ft opines that she's never washing that cheek again and I'm inclined to agree with him.
Maripaz fills Judith in on the plan for driving lessons, lying about the car situation and saying they don't want to get her one until she's more familiar with the streets. *snort!* Judith tells her that Ivan is widely regarded among her friends at the university as a hottie. And she doesn't care about the class difference. After all, she's not looking at him as marriage material, just as someone to, you know, pass the time with. Unfortunately, she's heard that he doesn't just play hard to get, he IS hard to get. Maripaz says he's nothing special. She met hotter guys in "Den-fer." She figures if Ivan hasn't succumbed to the charms of any of her shallow, stupid friends he must be gay (something about "oriente" orientation? Otro oriente? Batting for the other team?). Maripaz claims to have left a LOT of boyfriends back in Denfer. And to have had tons of sex. Judith hasn't, though. She's worried about getting pregnant. Maripaz isn't, though. She's got birth control pills.
Maripaz meets Ivan for her first driving lesson. She gets behind the wheel and he tells her to take the SUV out the gate and he'll close it behind her. Lucia wants to go, but Maripaz drives off. Ivan says maybe next time and tells her she looks pretty today.
Maripaz already knows how to drive. She asks Ivan not to refer to her as "usted." She thinks it's ridiculous for two young people to address each other that way. Ivan says they should have brought Lucia. "What for? So she could talk the whole time?"
Lucia complains to Carlota about Maripaz taking off without her. Carlota reminds her that Maripaz is now a young woman. Lucia tries to insist she is too, but Carlota says she's somewhere between a girl and a young woman. Lucia doesn't want Maripaz going out alone with Ivan. "He's my friend, not hers!" And she doesn't want to share him. "She's too flirty! And she says she can get any man she wants just like that!" She snaps her fingers. Carlota doesn't think Ivan's going to be won over with some finger snapping. Lucia grins and agrees. "But I don't like that you're so attached to him, either. Ivan, someday, he'll go live his life away from you and from this house." "I don't want him to leave! Ever!"
Alicia makes out a grocery list ("espinaca" spinach). Gerardo asks to see her while she's out getting groceries. "If I'm late la señora will get mad!" Gerardo says they won't be long, he just wants to talk to her. Alicia rushes off.
Ivan goes running back to the car, having bought Maripaz some cigarettes. He won't smoke one, though, cause it's not healthy. "One every once in a while isn't so bad. But I don't dare in the house, cause my mom would probably make wash my mouth out with soap!" She blows smoke in his face. She asks him why he wants to be an engineer. Mostly to get a good job and take care of his mom. "You won't get to be a millionaire." "You don't have to be a millionaire to be happy." Maripaz admits she always figured she'd marry a rich man. "And if you fell in love with a poor man?" That depends. Maripaz says she could fall in love with a poor guy like him. "Don't play around with me Maripaz. I don't like that kind of joke." He gets back in the car to resume the driving "lesson."
Alicia sneaks into a little hideaway with Gerardo, observed by her comadre Celia. She tells him she can only stay for a little while. They kiss. He just needed to talk. It's the same as always, but every day he feels like he can put up with Lucrezia a little less. She actually said in front of the girls that he was useless! What will they think of him? Alicia says they'll just think Mami was in a bad mood. Gerardo says he feels like a stranger in his own house, unable to make decisions because she criticizes every one. He always ends up doing what she wants. Alicia tells him to be calm and not let her get to him. Gerardo thinks he should leave her, but Alicia says they won't see each other as often if he does that. Gerardo suggests bringing her with him and telling everyone she's coming along to keep house for him. Alicia worries someone might suspect. She never asked him for anything more than what they have, just these few stolen moments together. Wow, she's the most cheerful, reassuring adulteress ever!
Ivan loads produce into a truck. Camilo tries to convince him to knock off early and go have a beer, but Ivan is meeting Maripaz after this. Some jackass comes in and mocks them, saying they'll never get rich loading trucks. It's Marceloooooo Cordova, aka Tialoving Abuelokiller, and he is Camilo's big bro Antolin. He proposes that Ivan make some quick cash being a rich old broad's boy toy. Ivan is so not into it! He says he's not "padrote" (a pimp) nor does he "batear por el otro lado" (bat for the other side). Maybe I misunderstood Antolin's business proposition…when were men brought into this? Or is this a standard pitch and dating a rich old guy was going to be the follow-up? Camilo gripes at him for making the indecent proposal and Antolin goes back to mocking them both.
Maripaz pulls the car over so she can talk to Ivan. Then she wants him to say something. "Are you mad at me for what I said?" Ivan says he's not, but this seems pointless--she already knows how to drive. Maripaz pouts and says she knows he likes spending time with her, but he pretends not to. Ivan just points out again that she already knows how to drive and if she wants to talk, she's got friends for that. "Can't we be friends?" "Your mother won't allow it." "Oh, please, why do you think I said I needed to practice driving?" She takes off his glasses. He says when he picked her up at the airport, it seemed like she didn't like him. "What? Did you want me to run up and grab you and ask how you were doing?" She admits she remembered him…or at least, she remembered him doing her math homework and kissing her on the cheek. He agrees they can be friends and she kisses him on the cheek and gets back in the car.
Alicia irons pants and my DVR cuts off.

La Fuerza del Destino #2 Wed 08/03/11 Arguments and their Refrains, for Emphasis during la Semana de Estreno

My debut isn't up to my standards, but I need to go out and didn't want to delay this until this afternoon. I don't have subtitles on my TV and my Spanish isn't perfect, so please bear with me.
Refrito: Alicia gets the warning about being too innocent, followed by her talking to Ivan about how she hopes his father will pay for his education.
Señor Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me is not pleased to see Ivan with Alicia, commenting on how she has to take care he doesn't become a delinquent. Ivan starts to defend himself but Juan DDDM leads Alicia inside to make his indecent proposal. He tries to force his attentions on her and Ivan runs in to stop him. He shoves him into the metal shelves, which come crashing down on Ivan.
Nuevo:
Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me picks up Ivan and says “Don't mess with me” in a threatening voice.
At poolside Lucrezia talks about Maripaz being 12 and that she will be sent to a boarding school in the US. “Won't you miss her?” asks Esther. “Of course it will hurt,” says Lucrezia (yeah, right), “but she will learn manners, English, etc.” I didn't get what Doña Carlota said about gringos except the possibility that Maripaz will acquire one as a novio. Lucrezia asks about Juan DDDM, and Esther responds that he's at the ranch over some problems.
Alicia goes after Ivan, telling him that she and his father haven't done anything bad, that he should have his studies so he can make a good living and be able to look after his family (that he doesn't have yet) as God dictates. Ivan wants nothing from him, stating that all he really is looking for is to debauch Alicia. She tells him “So what? He's the only man I ever knew [in the Biblical sense] in my life.” Ivan asks whether she loves his sperm donor and she tells him “No, of course not” but that he could be paying for his home, food, education. Ivan wants nothing from him and furthermore, never wants to see him again. He almost runs away, Alicia following him.
Back at the pool, Esther talks about how Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me is ill-tempered and insulting, that he does horrible things, and that he prefers Saul. Lucrezia offers that this is because he's the oldest and the most like him and Esther reminds her that this is the child of his first wife*. Lucrezia seems to accuse Esther of loving her own son too much; Doña Carlota says something about Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me being a drug addict (it was blipped out) and Esther leaves, obviously not wanting to continue the conversation. Lucrezia says something about her being a fool; Doña Carlota says that doesn't mean that Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me is allowed to be a beast. She jokes about how there should be a boxing ring in that house. They then argue again about Alicia and her status and how Lucrezia will never accept her as her father's daughter.
Sunset. Alicia interrupts Ivan's studies to try to explain the facts of life about poverty. She tells him that his pride scares her. This concludes with her agreeing that they will make it on their own.
The next day in school Maripaz shows a friend that she now wears a brassiere. Ivan tells Camilo about the previous night's conversation with his mother and how he will provide for her in the future.
Ivan and Camilo walk home from school through what appears to be the red-light district while Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me orders Alicia to leave her job because he is acquainted with the family she works for. He reminds her she could have everything paid for, but she refuses. He insists she pack her things and leave (what a tool). He wants the presidency of an association and can't afford scandal. Now, if she doesn't tell anyone how will they find out?
He's not backing down and neither is Alicia. After he leaves Ivan arrives home and he and Alicia talk about Juan DDDM. She tells him not to worry.
*Author's note: How on earth did this man manage to persuade two women to marry him?

Alicia and Ivan talk about how Juan DDDM wants to avoid gossip because he's looking to become president of his professional association. More of the same and Ivan goes out by the pool.
Maripaz and Lucia have an argument in front of Ivan, whom Maripaz insults by calling him the son of a servant. Lucia expresses some frustration at her sister's snobbery.
Lucrezia and Juan DDDM talk business and appear to flirt. They have history and both married for reasons other than love. Excuse me while I head to the vomitorium.
Juan DDDM and Ivan have the same conversation about money and college. Juan DDDM mocks Ivan, saying the best he can hope to be is an electrician or mechanic. Ivan lets him know what he thinks of him and Gerardo comes out to see what's going on. Juan DDDM tells him he had come to see Lucrezia and she's prettier every time.
We can't have heard that correctly.
Doña Carlota, Lucrezia, and Gerardo talk about Juan DDDM's ambition to be president of the association. Gerardo says he'd rather vote for Dr Menendez. When Lucrezia mocks Menendez as being old, the argument starts. When Lucrezia praises Juan DDDM's business skills and thinking Gerardo loses it, finally accusing her of being in love with Juan DDDM. “'Of course I'm not in love with anybody” is her verbal response. Gerardo gets the full meaning of that message and leaves the room; Doña Carlota conveys that if he has another woman soon it's Lucrezia's fault.
Commercial break over and I'm back after brushing my teeth and rinsing out with Scope.
While cleaning the stove, Alicia gets a phone call from Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me saying he expects her to be in front of the house in 5 minutes or else he will bother her the rest of her live. He tells her that Ivan is threatening to tell everyone he is his father. I didn't catch the comment about Gerardo, but he further orders her to leave.
Alicia confronts Ivan with the accusation; he denies it saying Juan DDDM can't order him round, hates him and is ashamed of him. We briefly see the adult Ivan saying he will kill him.
Doña Carlota and Lucrezia argue about Gerardo, whom Lucrezia has accused of stubbornness. Doña Carlota tells her she is the stubborn one and a fool for not appreciating what a good man he is for putting up with her BS for 13 years. Lucrezia says something about Gerardo being of poco character and gets reproached by her mother (details, por favor?) who tells her that one needs patience and a good disposition in marriage. Lucrezia tells her that she has no right to judge her life or offend her. Doña Carlota tells her she'll say what it pleases her to say, then notices that Gerardo is within earshot. She wishes her daughter good night.
Lucrezia apologises to Gerardo. Not. He's no tonta, saying “No te apures.”
Alicia cries about the events of the day. In the morning she explains to Ivan that they will leave to go back to live with his godmother, which pleases him. She then talks to the maid, who asks whether Lucrezia has made it difficult for her – we bet she has -- and she says no. They will leave today. Ivan heads to school, accepting Gerardo's offer for a ride. They talk about school and Ivan confides his ambition to become an engineer. Gerardo is one and the two bond.

Doña Carlota and her housekeeper talk about Alicia's impending departure. Doña Carlota asks whether this is about a novio, but the housekeeper believes the voice on the phone was that of Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me, which gets the patrona's attention.
Doña Carlota walks in as Alicia talks on the phone with Juan DDDM, having to defend Ivan from the word escuincle, finally telling him they're leaving but not with him. She has not yet told her employers. Doña Carlota enters on the tail end of this and takes the phone only to hear Juan DDDM's voice yelling at Alicia. She calmly says “Yes, Juan Jaime, it's me.” He doesn't like this; we are amused.
Doña Carlota tells Alicia she's always said that Juan DDDM is a pig. Alicia is afraid he will kill her or Ivan, but Doña Carlota tells her not to be foolish, that men will take advantage of women's fear. ”Perro que lada no muerde” (Spelling and translation, por favor) She is not to be in a hurry. Alicia tells her it's better that they leave and she can get another job. Doña Carlota asks whether she thinks it's that easy and whether she thinks another employer will accept that she has un hijo (natural? It was blipped out). At least she doesn't want a troglodyte like Juan DDDM to take away what's hers. “Don't dance to his tune,” she says. “Just stay in the kitchen till I get back.”
I like this lady.
Ivan and Camilo talk about Ivan and Alicia returning to Tampico. No matter where Alicia would work here it would be the same; Juan DDDM wants Alicia for a mistress and doesn't want her to work. Camilo's mother has a cousin in that state, but Ivan won't have it for his mother. He speaks well of Gerardo.
Alicia cries as she prays in the kitchen. Lucrezia enters and asks what's wrong. Alicia tells her “Nothing, I was cutting onions.” (which she was). Lucrezia asks about her mother's whereabouts and Alicia told her that Doña Carlota has gone out.
Doña Carlota blackmails Juan DDDM. Everyone except his wife knows he once took advantage of a servant girl on his ranch. He tells her he respects her but that she has no right to interfere in his private life. She tells him yes, but he has no right to interfere with Alicia. He should at least acknowledge Ivan but she know he doesn't want to. In exchange for him leaving Alicia and Ivan alone she and her family will keep quiet about his relationship to them. He asks “What about your daughter, son-in-law, Alica, or the boy?” She tells him she won't talk, Alicia is too afraid to, and the boy won't do this behind his mother's back. Lo siento, but I didn't get the rest.
Doña Carlota assures Alicia that all is well; she is just not to tell anyone that Juan DDDM is Ivan's father and the boy is also to say nothing. She is also not to tell of her relationship to Doña Carlota 's deceased husband. Alicia thanks her and tells her that won't be an issue. Lucrezia enters and her mother lies about where she had gone. When Alicia leaves to get the tea they talk about the secret. Lucrezia doesn't like this; that Ivan is the cousin of her daughters and has rights.
Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me insults Ivan's intelligence by telling him that he is offering him and his mother a decent life, but that he (Ivan) prefers to live in porqueria. That suits him; he sees that Ivan will be a delinquent. He then says something about Ivan telling people he is his son. Ivan tells him that he doesn't want to be his son and that he hates him. I didn't get the rest, but he made Ivan cry. Excuse me while I take a shower during the commercial break; this man makes me feel dirty.
FF: Señor McGuire introduces the adult Ivan to Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me as his son. It doesn't look as though the evil one recognizes Ivan; he says something about having a son the same age.
FB: Alicia tells the teenage Ivan Doña Carlota got Juan DDDM off their case. He is not to tell anyone that he is his father and he is to thank Doña Carlota. He goes to do so and she asks him about school. He tells her all is well. She is pleased not just because he will be successful one day but because it will be a slap in the face to his patan of a father. Lucia enters wanting to flirt with Ivan, but he exits to study. She is disappointed but Doña Carlota assures her that boys that age aren't much into girls. Someday, however...
A few days later in the park Ivan and Camilo watch Maripaz pass by as a third – slightly older -- boy joins them. They talk in general terms about girls.
Later, Lucia brings Ivan a piece of white cake while he talks to the gardener. She flirts with him, telling him that Maripaz has a novio named Fernando. But don't tell anyone! She shows interest in him and he gently teases her, as she is too young for a novio, but he feeds her a bite of the cake and hugs her in a brotherly way. She heads back to the house and tells Maripaz that she has a novio, too. Upon the revelation that it's Ivan, Maripaz comments nastily that he is a servant's child.
Ivan finds a black puppy and gently zips it inside his jacket as Maripaz approaches him with an attitude. He tells her that he isn't actually Lucia's novio but if she says anything to her mother he'll tell about Fernando. She's satisfied but sends mixed messages. She flirt-smiles at him while asking who would want him because of his poverty and bad clothes. He tells her that he's the top of his class and a good futbol player. She says well, since he's not exactly ugly he might look handsome in better clothes. She fails to notice the puppy.
Real material girl. Madonna would be proud of her. So would Aida of Teresa.
Ivan brings the puppy into the kitchen hoping to find some food for him. Despite Alicia's concerns, Gerardo gives Ivan permission to keep the dog provided that he bathes him and takes him to the vet for his shots. Also that there are no problems. Ivan thanks him and exits happily with the puppy.
Alicia tells Gerardo she doesn't want this to annoy Lucrezia. He tells her that Lucrezia gets annoyed over anything. As Alicia predicted, Lucrezia hits the ceiling over the dog, saying they're filthy and make things dirty. I think Gerardo responds that it's a pedigree dog, but didn't get the entire sentence about the garden. Besides, the boy will take care of it. Lucia is excited but Lucrezia says “no” again but Doña Carlota overrules her, saying that her husband allows this. Lucrezia caves but says that if anything goes wrong, the dog goes and the servants with it.
This does not bode well, as usual.
Lucrezia and Doña Carlota argue again about Alicia. Lucrezia describes Alicia as proof that her father betrayed her mother. Doña Carlota tells her that her husband had always treated both of them well. Lucrezia goes on about the will and how everyone would be laughing behind their backs. Doña Carlota doesn't want to talk about this anymore. She feels guilty about it, but Lucrezia doesn't. She doesn't like her mother's reminder that Ivan is the only male grandchild. Alicia is illegitimate and so is her son. Doña Carlota reminds her that the world is full of children not legally recognized and “What you can't accept is that in the veins of Alicia and Ivan is the blood of your father.” I couldn't make out Lucrezia's response.
Maripaz tells Ivan about her mother sending her to convent school in the US because she thinks the schools are better there. Maripaz isn't happy about this, being locked up with nuns and away from her friends. She'd rather be with her friends here. Ivan tells her he doesn't want her to go and kisses her, but on the cheek.

My debut isn't up to my standards, but I need to go out and didn't want to delay this until this afternoon. I don't have subtitles on my TV and my Spanish isn't perfect, so please bear with me.
Refrito: Alicia gets the warning about being too innocent, followed by her talking to Ivan about how she hopes his father will pay for his education.
Señor Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me is not pleased to see Ivan with Alicia, commenting on how she has to take care he doesn't become a delinquent. Ivan starts to defend himself but Juan DDDM leads Alicia inside to make his indecent proposal. He tries to force his attentions on her and Ivan runs in to stop him. He shoves him into the metal shelves, which come crashing down on Ivan.
Nuevo:
Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me picks up Ivan and says “Don't mess with me” in a threatening voice.
At poolside Lucrezia talks about Maripaz being 12 and that she will be sent to a boarding school in the US. “Won't you miss her?” asks Esther. “Of course it will hurt,” says Lucrezia (yeah, right), “but she will learn manners, English, etc.” I didn't get what Doña Carlota said about gringos except the possibility that Maripaz will acquire one as a novio. Lucrezia asks about Juan DDDM, and Esther responds that he's at the ranch over some problems.
Alicia goes after Ivan, telling him that she and his father haven't done anything bad, that he should have his studies so he can make a good living and be able to look after his family (that he doesn't have yet) as God dictates. Ivan wants nothing from him, stating that all he really is looking for is to debauch Alicia. She tells him “So what? He's the only man I ever knew [in the Biblical sense] in my life.” Ivan asks whether she loves his sperm donor and she tells him “No, of course not” but that he could be paying for his home, food, education. Ivan wants nothing from him and furthermore, never wants to see him again. He almost runs away, Alicia following him.
Back at the pool, Esther talks about how Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me is ill-tempered and insulting, that he does horrible things, and that he prefers Saul. Lucrezia offers that this is because he's the oldest and the most like him and Esther reminds her that this is the child of his first wife*. Lucrezia seems to accuse Esther of loving her own son too much; Doña Carlota says something about Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me being a drug addict (it was blipped out) and Esther leaves, obviously not wanting to continue the conversation. Lucrezia says something about her being a fool; Doña Carlota says that doesn't mean that Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me is allowed to be a beast. She jokes about how there should be a boxing ring in that house. They then argue again about Alicia and her status and how Lucrezia will never accept her as her father's daughter.
Sunset. Alicia interrupts Ivan's studies to try to explain the facts of life about poverty. She tells him that his pride scares her. This concludes with her agreeing that they will make it on their own.
The next day in school Maripaz shows a friend that she now wears a brassiere. Ivan tells Camilo about the previous night's conversation with his mother and how he will provide for her in the future.
Ivan and Camilo walk home from school through what appears to be the red-light district while Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me orders Alicia to leave her job because he is acquainted with the family she works for. He reminds her she could have everything paid for, but she refuses. He insists she pack her things and leave (what a tool). He wants the presidency of an association and can't afford scandal. Now, if she doesn't tell anyone how will they find out?
He's not backing down and neither is Alicia. After he leaves Ivan arrives home and he and Alicia talk about Juan DDDM. She tells him not to worry.
*Author's note: How on earth did this man manage to persuade two women to marry him?

Alicia and Ivan talk about how Juan DDDM wants to avoid gossip because he's looking to become president of his professional association. More of the same and Ivan goes out by the pool.
Maripaz and Lucia have an argument in front of Ivan, whom Maripaz insults by calling him the son of a servant. Lucia expresses some frustration at her sister's snobbery.
Lucrezia and Juan DDDM talk business and appear to flirt. They have history and both married for reasons other than love. Excuse me while I head to the vomitorium.
Juan DDDM and Ivan have the same conversation about money and college. Juan DDDM mocks Ivan, saying the best he can hope to be is an electrician or mechanic. Ivan lets him know what he thinks of him and Gerardo comes out to see what's going on. Juan DDDM tells him he had come to see Lucrezia and she's prettier every time.
We can't have heard that correctly.
Doña Carlota, Lucrezia, and Gerardo talk about Juan DDDM's ambition to be president of the association. Gerardo says he'd rather vote for Dr Menendez. When Lucrezia mocks Menendez as being old, the argument starts. When Lucrezia praises Juan DDDM's business skills and thinking Gerardo loses it, finally accusing her of being in love with Juan DDDM. “'Of course I'm not in love with anybody” is her verbal response. Gerardo gets the full meaning of that message and leaves the room; Doña Carlota conveys that if he has another woman soon it's Lucrezia's fault.
Commercial break over and I'm back after brushing my teeth and rinsing out with Scope.
While cleaning the stove, Alicia gets a phone call from Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me saying he expects her to be in front of the house in 5 minutes or else he will bother her the rest of her live. He tells her that Ivan is threatening to tell everyone he is his father. I didn't catch the comment about Gerardo, but he further orders her to leave.
Alicia confronts Ivan with the accusation; he denies it saying Juan DDDM can't order him round, hates him and is ashamed of him. We briefly see the adult Ivan saying he will kill him.
Doña Carlota and Lucrezia argue about Gerardo, whom Lucrezia has accused of stubbornness. Doña Carlota tells her she is the stubborn one and a fool for not appreciating what a good man he is for putting up with her BS for 13 years. Lucrezia says something about Gerardo being of poco character and gets reproached by her mother (details, por favor?) who tells her that one needs patience and a good disposition in marriage. Lucrezia tells her that she has no right to judge her life or offend her. Doña Carlota tells her she'll say what it pleases her to say, then notices that Gerardo is within earshot. She wishes her daughter good night.
Lucrezia apologises to Gerardo. Not. He's no tonta, saying “No te apures.”
Alicia cries about the events of the day. In the morning she explains to Ivan that they will leave to go back to live with his godmother, which pleases him. She then talks to the maid, who asks whether Lucrezia has made it difficult for her – we bet she has -- and she says no. They will leave today. Ivan heads to school, accepting Gerardo's offer for a ride. They talk about school and Ivan confides his ambition to become an engineer. Gerardo is one and the two bond.

Doña Carlota and her housekeeper talk about Alicia's impending departure. Doña Carlota asks whether this is about a novio, but the housekeeper believes the voice on the phone was that of Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me, which gets the patrona's attention.
Doña Carlota walks in as Alicia talks on the phone with Juan DDDM, having to defend Ivan from the word escuincle, finally telling him they're leaving but not with him. She has not yet told her employers. Doña Carlota enters on the tail end of this and takes the phone only to hear Juan DDDM's voice yelling at Alicia. She calmly says “Yes, Juan Jaime, it's me.” He doesn't like this; we are amused.
Doña Carlota tells Alicia she's always said that Juan DDDM is a pig. Alicia is afraid he will kill her or Ivan, but Doña Carlota tells her not to be foolish, that men will take advantage of women's fear. ”Perro que lada no muerde” (Spelling and translation, por favor) She is not to be in a hurry. Alicia tells her it's better that they leave and she can get another job. Doña Carlota asks whether she thinks it's that easy and whether she thinks another employer will accept that she has un hijo (natural? It was blipped out). At least she doesn't want a troglodyte like Juan DDDM to take away what's hers. “Don't dance to his tune,” she says. “Just stay in the kitchen till I get back.”
I like this lady.
Ivan and Camilo talk about Ivan and Alicia returning to Tampico. No matter where Alicia would work here it would be the same; Juan DDDM wants Alicia for a mistress and doesn't want her to work. Camilo's mother has a cousin in that state, but Ivan won't have it for his mother. He speaks well of Gerardo.
Alicia cries as she prays in the kitchen. Lucrezia enters and asks what's wrong. Alicia tells her “Nothing, I was cutting onions.” (which she was). Lucrezia asks about her mother's whereabouts and Alicia told her that Doña Carlota has gone out.
Doña Carlota blackmails Juan DDDM. Everyone except his wife knows he once took advantage of a servant girl on his ranch. He tells her he respects her but that she has no right to interfere in his private life. She tells him yes, but he has no right to interfere with Alicia. He should at least acknowledge Ivan but she know he doesn't want to. In exchange for him leaving Alicia and Ivan alone she and her family will keep quiet about his relationship to them. He asks “What about your daughter, son-in-law, Alica, or the boy?” She tells him she won't talk, Alicia is too afraid to, and the boy won't do this behind his mother's back. Lo siento, but I didn't get the rest.
Doña Carlota assures Alicia that all is well; she is just not to tell anyone that Juan DDDM is Ivan's father and the boy is also to say nothing. She is also not to tell of her relationship to Doña Carlota 's deceased husband. Alicia thanks her and tells her that won't be an issue. Lucrezia enters and her mother lies about where she had gone. When Alicia leaves to get the tea they talk about the secret. Lucrezia doesn't like this; that Ivan is the cousin of her daughters and has rights.
Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me insults Ivan's intelligence by telling him that he is offering him and his mother a decent life, but that he (Ivan) prefers to live in porqueria. That suits him; he sees that Ivan will be a delinquent. He then says something about Ivan telling people he is his son. Ivan tells him that he doesn't want to be his son and that he hates him. I didn't get the rest, but he made Ivan cry. Excuse me while I take a shower during the commercial break; this man makes me feel dirty.
FF: Señor McGuire introduces the adult Ivan to Juan Don't-Dare-Defy-Me as his son. It doesn't look as though the evil one recognizes Ivan; he says something about having a son the same age.
FB: Alicia tells the teenage Ivan Doña Carlota got Juan DDDM off their case. He is not to tell anyone that he is his father and he is to thank Doña Carlota. He goes to do so and she asks him about school. He tells her all is well. She is pleased not just because he will be successful one day but because it will be a slap in the face to his patan of a father. Lucia enters wanting to flirt with Ivan, but he exits to study. She is disappointed but Doña Carlota assures her that boys that age aren't much into girls. Someday, however...
A few days later in the park Ivan and Camilo watch Maripaz pass by as a third – slightly older -- boy joins them. They talk in general terms about girls.
Later, Lucia brings Ivan a piece of white cake while he talks to the gardener. She flirts with him, telling him that Maripaz has a novio named Fernando. But don't tell anyone! She shows interest in him and he gently teases her, as she is too young for a novio, but he feeds her a bite of the cake and hugs her in a brotherly way. She heads back to the house and tells Maripaz that she has a novio, too. Upon the revelation that it's Ivan, Maripaz comments nastily that he is a servant's child.
Ivan finds a black puppy and gently zips it inside his jacket as Maripaz approaches him with an attitude. He tells her that he isn't actually Lucia's novio but if she says anything to her mother he'll tell about Fernando. She's satisfied but sends mixed messages. She flirt-smiles at him while asking who would want him because of his poverty and bad clothes. He tells her that he's the top of his class and a good futbol player. She says well, since he's not exactly ugly he might look handsome in better clothes. She fails to notice the puppy.
Real material girl. Madonna would be proud of her. So would Aida of Teresa.
Ivan brings the puppy into the kitchen hoping to find some food for him. Despite Alicia's concerns, Gerardo gives Ivan permission to keep the dog provided that he bathes him and takes him to the vet for his shots. Also that there are no problems. Ivan thanks him and exits happily with the puppy.

Teresa Wed 8/3/11 #108 Johnny Attacked; Shark Harpooned; Film at 11
REPRISE
Outside Fernando's penthouse, Johnny is in the hallway and catches Teresa kissing Fernando goodbye outside his door.
At the hospital, Martin and Aurora are about to go out to dinner. Martin created a new dessert in her honor. Martin tells her that Hector and Juana are joining them. Martin says he wants to include one of Juana’s recipes at his restaurant. Juana jokes that she will allow it if the restaurant follows the recipe to the letter.
Juana asks Aurora if she has talked to Teresa lately and hints that life has taken a bad twist for her.
Back in the hallway by Fernando’s penthouse, Teresa explains that Fernando is her sister-in-law’s boyfriend and they were just planning a wedding surprise for her. Just then Arturo arrives. Teresa pretends she just got their also, and makes some small talk with Arturo about Johnny staying with Mariano and confirms someone from their office will help Johnny with his case. Arturo is glad Johnny reported that crook, Fito. Arturo is there to tell Luisa what happened [with the Saenz case]. Teresa pretends she wants to “be there” for Arturo in this difficult time and they go on to Fernando’s penthouse. Fernando is surprised to see them; Teresa for the second time. Johnny thinks this whole scene is weird, but appears to mind his own business.
ESPERANZA’S APARTMENT
Esperanza feels her baby Rodrigo kicking and wishes Hernan was there to feel it too.
Just then, Hernan is at the door, carrying a single white rose. Hernan read her letter, and asks Esperanza if she really meant it when she said she loved him. She says it’s true. Hernan says he loves her too, and the baby.
Esperanza is very happy to be with Hernan and she felt really bad when he left. Hernan says he jumped to conclusions. Esperanza is glad that he is giving her another chance, and Hernan agrees that if he hadn’t, he would have regretted it forever.
FERNANDO'S PENTHOUSE
Arturo tells Fernando that he is totally bankrupt. Fernando says that Arturo has his support. Oriana and Luisa enter and right away Oriana spots Teresa and gives her the super-evil stink-eye with a cherry on top. Oriana suspiciously asks Fernando if he invited Teresa over to talk. Teresa, exacerbated, chimes in “please do not say anything Oriana, I am here for another matter; I came to accompany my husband.”
Arturo recounts how he originally asked for a prenuptial agreement, and Oriana said it wasn’t necessary. Well now, Arturo explains, his circumstances have changed. He’s broke.
Fernando offers a loan but Arturo declines and says he already declined a similar offer from Martin. Arturo will use his own capital and sell his house. Oriana snarls and asks Teresa what she thinks about that. Teresa is surprised, but says she will stand by her man. Arturo informs them he already put the house up for sale.
Fernando and Luisa take Arturo aside to try to convince him to take a loan, leaving Oriana and Teresa to spar. Oriana jabs at Teresa about all of this, but Teresa says she already told her husband her love is unconditional; if things are bad, they’ll just start again. Oriana says that’s the least she can do you, as the reason Arturo won’t take a loan from her or Fernando is that Arturo had a fight with her about Teresa and it’s such a shame to lose the house. Teresa says, “Not that I want to blame everything on me, but Arthur is right to be dignified and not accept money from someone who offended [his wife].”
Oriana then rubs her class distinction nonsense in Teresa’s face by saying that if Arthur had married someone like Aida he would not be suffering because Mayra would support him, but Teresa’s parents can’t lend him a penny. She snarls that our little Shark Princess will be just an ordinary Cinderella (cenicienta).
MARIANO'S APARTMENT
Johnny and Patty are in Mariano’s apartment doing a little cleaning when our favorite Mariachi buffoon, Crapberto, who is supposed to be substituting for Johnny at the vecindad, walks in and explains that the residents at the vecindad don’t have running water and he may have forgot to take out the trash. Johnny is appalled. Curdberto scratches himself as if to prove the old adage about men: if it itches, we scratch it, no matter the timing or how weird/gross the scratch.
ESPERANZA’S APARTMENT
Johnny shows up at Esperanza’s house and she asks him what he’s doing there; did the police catch Fito? Johnny says no, but that Esperanza wasn’t straight with him and he knows Dumberto is doing everything wrong.
Johnny says he has to take care of things or he may lose his job and the owner may run him out of his apartment. Esperanza worries that Johnny will be in danger, but he assures her he’ll be fine.
Elsewhere, Fito receives a call from an informant that Johnny has been spotted at the vecindad. Fito tells him to stay there and keep an eye on him.
GENOVEVA'S HOUSE
Aida screeches into Geno’s house. Geno says she’s got some hot gossip she just had to tell her in person: Arturo is having big money problems and asked Geno to help sell his house! Aida is beside herself with glee and laughing maniacally says, “So Teresa is a pauper AGAIN!!!”
BARERRA HOUSE
Teresa and Arturo are arriving and Teresa asks Arturo if it is true that if he had not had a fight with Oriana about Teresa, that he would have accepted a loan from her. Arturo says that’s probably true. So Teresa concludes that Arturo is losing the house because of her. Arturo says he doesn’t care about that because Teresa means more to him than any fortune. Teresa proclaims her love for him as Arturo promises he will bounce back from this and give her everything she deserves.
GENOVEVA'S HOUSE
Geno and Aida continue to revel in Teresa’s bad fortune. They talk about how Arturo hoped to sell his Turquoise Moon condominiums but since that’s not possible, he had to find another way to deal with his debts. They feel bad for Arturo because he is a good person, but are glad that Teresa is having a bad time as she only married Arturo for his money. They point out the irony that Teresa had such contempt for poor people, such as when Mariano was poor, but now Mariano’s star is rising and Arturo’s is falling.
FERNANDO'S PENTHOUSE
Luisa tells Oriana she appreciates the affection and acceptance that she has given her, especially in light of how things went the last time her brother and Teresa were there. She assures Oriana that even though she doesn’t have as much money as before, she will still be a good wife. Oriana says she can separate one thing from another and she still likes Luisa, and the good news is that the scandal is about Saenz and not Arturo. He just had the misfortune of the financial guarantee but Arturo did nothing wrong. Oriana reiterates her support of Luisa and thinks she will be a great daughter-in-law. Oriana is also glad she is around Fernando because if she weren’t some social climber would probably come along and try to conquer him. She obviously is referring to Teresa.
BARERRA HOUSE
Juana sympathizes with Teresa about the news of Arturo’s bankruptcy and says she already told Aurora and Hector. She points out that maybe Teresa won’t be a millionaire traveling to Paris every year, but she’ll have everything she needs and even a few luxuries. Teresa thinks it’s horrible and she didn’t want anyone to know, but now pretty much everyone knows.
Aurora then enters and offers her condolences. Teresa says Aurora doesn’t know what it is like being poor. Aurora tries to point out the silver lining about Arturo being able to overcome this and how they have each other. She then asks if Teresa is thinking about giving up on her marriage since, well, lots of people think she just married for money. Teresa says (with a straight face no less) that for the thousandth time, she married for love not for money; as her nose starts to grow.
Aurora tells her that Mariano took an x-ray of Armando and that he didn’t have a fracture, just a painful wound, but he’ll recover. She said the real problem is that Armando is very depressed, feels guilty, and feels he made her look bad in front of her husband. Teresa said she hasn’t talked to him because his cell phone was also stolen, but she’ll stop by and see him today.
MARIANO'S APARTMENT
Mariano comes in and Patty says she is worried that Johnny hasn’t come back yet. Mariano says not to worry; Johnny is probably just helping a neighbor. Patty says she hopes that’s all it is because Johnny was concerned about the lousy job Dumberto El Mariachi Buffoon was doing and hopefully he didn’t wander out to the vecindad.
ESPERANZA’S APARTMENT
Johnny is useful for once and makes a delicious snack of quesadillas, and lots of them since Esperanza is eating for two. Johnny then excuses himself and says he needs to get back since he didn’t tell Patty where he was going.
As Johnny walks out, Fito and an accomplice put on cheap ski masks and confront Johnny. Fito’s accomplice grabs Johnny from behind and applies the old “Full Nelson” (a cheesy wrestling hold that a 9 year old could get out of). As Fito pulls out his gun, he says that Johnny betrayed him, then whacks him across the head. They proceed to drag him off camera and beat Johnny’s semi-functional brains out.
GENO’s HOUSE
Geno and Aida take their maniacal glee to the next level and break out the champagne to celebrate Teresa’s misfortune. Geno comments that she knows Teresa had something to do with Paulo’s death. Aida picks up a picture of Paulo and says to his image that what happened to Teresa is partial justice for what happened to him and they clink their glasses in a toast to Teresa’s suffering. Just then Mayra joins the party and says she just got back from the therapist. She’s starting to realize that she needs to forgive Ruben. Of course Geno the duplicitous gata approves, and Aida also agrees with forgiving Ruben. However, Mayra says she is still moving forward with the divorce.
CHAVES HOUSE
Refugio greets Teresa at her house and says Armando’s x-ray came out ok, but Armando left to go to the Barrera home. Refugio asks if they were able to settle the matter of the papers that were lost. Teresa snarls and says no, Arturo will lose all of his money for that. Refugio says she is sure that Arturo, a lawyer, is not really going to be out of money and that he is very intelligent, good at business and will bounce back. Teresa doesn’t really want to discuss it. Refugio reminds her that she has to stay with Arturo during this rough time because she “swore before God to be together in good times and bad, wealth and poverty.” To which Teresa quips, “I’d rather be dead than go back to being poor.” Refugio replies, “What did you say?” Teresa says, “Nothing, I’m leaving” as she scurries off like a RRRRRRata.
BARRERA HOUSE
Back at the Barrera home, Armando hands over his resignation and his keys to Arturo. Arturo asks him not to quit, but Armando insists, as he is mortified and embarrassed by what happened and asks Arturo for his forgiveness.
VECINDAD
Too-Hot Patty and Mariano arrive at the vecindad looking for Johnny. They spot Johnny who is badly hurt, bleeding, and can’t walk. They rush over to help him and Patty has a conniption fit. They ask Johnny what happened, but he is badly beaten and can't respond intelligibly (even more than usual).
Elsewhere at the vecindad, as Teresa is going back to her car, Aida spots her and asks if she is returning to the vecindad because Arturo is ruined. Teresa tells her to shutup; it’s a temporary situation and they will recover. Aida says Teresa really brought bad luck to her husband, and she sees that her house is for sale. Aida says maybe she’ll buy her house and live there with Mariano. Teresa replies, “For starters, Mariano would not accept to move into a house that you have purchased and anyway you wouldn’t be as happy there as Arturo and me.” Aida says she still may buy her house anyway just to demonstrate who is left standing in the end.
JOHNNY'S APARTMENT
Johnny is back at his apartment and in pain. Mariano is bandaging his wounds and Magda is assisting. Johnny doesn’t want anyone telling Esperanza about his injuries. Patty says this is why she wanted dumbass Johnny to stay at Mariano’s apartment; not because they are freeloading, but because they really were in danger.
BARRERA HOUSE
Teresa sits on her stairwell in the dark, thinking about the bad times that have befallen her. Her cellphone rings and it’s Fito calling. Teresa tells him that he does not even know how much she hates him. Fito asks if she wants the other half of the papers he got from her dad. She replies, “Idiot. Because of you Arturo lost an important trial and now we’re broke.” Fito thinks she is making up a story and asks for more money. Teresa angrily says she has no more money to give and doesn’t want to know him and abruptly hangs up. Fito laughs it off; just another day at the office for the Fito Bandito.
FERNANDO'S PENTHOUSE
Luisa is sleeping on the couch. Fernando leans over and tells her it’s time to go to bed. Just then he flashes back to the time Teresa slept on his couch. Yes Fernando, her body looked mighty fine in that shirt, mighty fine indeed.
BARRERA HOUSE
Back at the Barrera house, Arturo and Teresa are in bed asleep, when Teresa starts having a shark nightmare. Teresa dreams she is back in the vecindad, poor. She is walking down the sidewalk when her mom gives her a sweater, but Teresa grimaces and doesn’t like it; it isn’t Kashmir after all.
Arturo is washing a taxi and stops to tell her not to worry; someday they’ll leave the poor neighborhood and pay back her parents.
Tiburoncita is horrified and wakes up with her shark teeth snapping, “I can’t go back to being poor. I can’t, I can’t.”
NEXT DAY AT CHAVES HOUSE
Armando laments about the need to find another job, and that it will be difficult because no one wants to hire an old man. He continues to blame himself for losing the papers and Refugio points out he was mugged which was different, and no one could have avoided that.
BARRERA HOUSE
As Teresa opens a box containing jewelry her phone rings and it’s Fito Bandito. He says what happened to Johnny was just a warning. He says to take a good look at her best friend’s brother, and give him more money. Teresa says she was serious; Arturo has no more money and they have to sell their house, all because of Fito. Of course Fito says he is not to blame for her husband losing the trial because he would not have assaulted Armando if she had given him money when he asked for it before. Anyway, he says he doesn’t believe they are out of money.
MARIANO'S APARTMENT
Aida, still basking in the glow of Teresa’s misfortune, tells Mariano all about it. Even though Teresa was in Mariano’s past, he is not amused that Aida is making fun of what happened to Teresa. Aida can’t believe he is still defending her. Mariano tells her to calm down and reminds her they are trying to make their relationship work. Aida tells him not to be angry with her and starts getting kissy-kissy and that seems to put Mariano in a better mood.
BARRERA HOUSE
Arturo walks in solemnly, crying, and sits on the stairs. Teresa walks in and asks what’s wrong. Arturo says the stress of losing the case caused Saenz to lose his mind. Saenz committed suicide. Through his uncontrolled crying he gasps, “Teresa, Saenz is dead!”
Arturo is grief stricken and blames himself for losing the case. He laments for Saenz’s wife that she lost her husband and that his children will now grow up without their father. Teresa tries to console him and Arturo says that Teresa is the stabilizing force in his life and that she alone sustains him.
JUANA’S APARTMENT
Creepberto walks in and starts talking about Johnny getting hurt by Fito, but Juana hits him and tells him to be quiet so Esperanza doesn’t overhear. She says she told Esperanza that Johnny got home ok; and Johnny only got hurt because Curdberto has crap for brains and did a lousy job filling in for Johnny. Scumberto then shares buffoonish banter and stares at Juana’s cleavage.
BARRERA HOME
Teresa tells Arturo he’s got to be strong and they profess their love for each other. Teresa suggests they have some coffee and get to work.
Arturo is sitting on the couch when the maid tells him that Saenz’s wife is there to see him. As Margaret Saenz enters, Arturo walks toward her saying he’s sorry about her husband. She starts screaming at Arturo, blaming him for Saenz’s death. She rhetorically asks what is she going to tell her children. Teresa comes in and tells her to calm down.
Margaret says “No I will not calm down, I will not calm down!” She then pulls out a revolver, Teresa runs behind Arturo, Margaret says that she has lost everything, and that Arturo will not continue to live. Teresa then gets between Arturo and Margaret and struggles to take the gun away from her. She says, “No, please understand that my husband went to great lengths to win the case, lady!” Margaret says, “If you had stayed in Europe he would not have lost the case, he would be alive!”
Two gunshots ring out, but just who shot who? Has our shark been harpooned? Tune in next time, same bat-time, same bat-channel.

Alfo: I thought Alvaro would give me the queen lifestyle I wanted and that I did not have with Ezeq... (boy woman, you don't need anything short of a real beating and shooting you to a small island with no food or comforts)... No I realize Ezeq had me in a palace full of love, all golden.
Kari: Did you really think I lived in a palace? (Alfo nods yes) .. Things are not as they seem, Alfo... I would have been HAPPY to switch lives with you... you changed the love of a husband who respects you, loves you and cares for you... for a man like Alvaro who only cares about himself... And not only that, but you betrayed our friendship, and it hurts bad.
Alfo keeps apologizing but Kari is too hurt to listen... Lazaro was listening from across the room, though...
Laz: Kari, maybe what Alfo did was to take the blindfold off your eyes...
Kari: Yes, but she betrayed a friend... and it hurts real bad. ( good for you Kari... the least they can give you is some time to digest all that)
Kari and Laz leave a very upset Alfo..
Rob and Matt are walking together, seems around the garden of MR manor. Matt says you should do that DNA test since the dates are near each other and that baby could be mine too... Rob is upset (with her best buzzer voice... boy that woman has a really annoying voice.) Rob says a woman knows when she gets pregnant... And even though Nata told Jero I would do the DNA test, I won't do it! Matt asks, and what if I ask you? Jero seemed very sure he is not your baby daddy, and so I also want to make sure that baby is not mine.
Adri and Nata:
Adri: Sorry i don't mean to be on Jero's side but I could not deny helping him. Even if you get divorced, learning the truth will help you out in the long run. He swore to me that he never slept with Berta. Something in me believes him.
Nata: Yeah I am also blown away at his certainty of not being the daddy. But so what? It's not just Rob's baby, but he lied to me! he broke my heart! He took revenge on me for something I did not do!
Adri: I know how you feel, I am not defending him but I put myself in his shoes... I would probably do the same as him.
Nata: Oh that's great that you are not on his side! (what would you say if you were??)
Adri: Just think about it for a second... Put yourself in his shoes!! What if the one relative you had left that loved you in this world killed themselves for the betrayal of someone? What would have you done? Would you sit there with your arms crossed or would you have gone out to find out the truth, no matter who fell?
Nata: I don't know!
Adri: I bet you would have done same as him! I know you! You would never have let an injustice go unnoticed.The problem is that Jero got bad leads. He went after Rob, then you came and he got confused!
Nata: Well, how easy... so he says 'well, I was confused, I was wrong, forgive me!.. that easy, no? ITs not so easy, Adri!
Adri: Yeah but you lied to him too about your name! You told him you had a boyfriend right at the place Rafa agreed to meet you at! So the confusion makes sense.
Nata: You are trying to make me feel bad for Jero. But no. He fixed his issue, I have not!
Adri: NO, you are wrong! He has not either. He has been trying to prove it was Rob, but has not been able to even with the necklace, the letter and the heart. And on top of that he fell in love with you like a stupid and now he does not have you.
Fina is talking to herself cursing Connie, she is very upset about Connie trying to talk to Gonzo and Nata in favor of Jero.
Fina's cell rings, the Licenciado calls her to let her know Gina has arrived back in Mex... He tells her about seeing her and Antonio at the airport... She gets even more upset that with Gina nearby, her nightmare is back on! ... he reminds her of their soon to come eloping... she gives him the typical ' (don't call me, ) i will call you'
Cantu is meeting with Gustavo the old governor boyfriend of Pepa's... Cantu is quick to bring Pepa's situation with Gonzo and asks what he knows about her... Gustav says Pepa and him did not break up exactly in good terms, and that she always liked the good life, living like a queen, and to belong to high society. Cantu asks him why she stayed here so long. Gustav says she was counting on my protection. Once I stopped being governor, and she had not heard of the father of her kids, she felt comfortable enough to go to MC. Cantu asks Gustav if he would be interested in providing him more info about Pepa.
At Gina's house, she is angry that Antonio keeps trying to rule her life. 'I don't want to keep on living at your rhythm, Gonzo's or Cantu's. I want to live my life! If you want a woman who will do as you say without questioning anything or saying her peace, you probably are with the wrong woman!' Cata and Antonio are concerned that something is bothering or anguishing Gina.
At Misery Manor, Gonzo gives Nata a support speech... he wants Nata to share with him her feelings, he wants Nata to stay a few days and give him a chance to help her... Antonio calls Gonzo to let him know Gina is in town. Gonzo will reactivate her security guards asap...
When Gonzo hangs up and tells Nata Gina is back in town, Nata is very bitter responding saying she wants Gina far from her and her life. Nata tells Gonzo that Gina knew why Jero married her. Gina is not a good person and i want her far away from me.
Berta is having a tantrum demanding that Fina give her a solution to the nightmare of having Matt and Jero on her tail about the DNA test.
Hono and Adri at her house... Hono does not want Blanca to find them.. Adri brings him to earth saying Blanca knows our phone number and our address, and even our routine. Hono is mad that he hired and even got along with that psychopath... Adri says she is beginning to believe the story that Blanca drugged him to get him in bed with her. Hono says that's the only way he could have done that. He absolutely loves COnnie, Adri points out that Blanca could go after Connie. Hono says that is true, need to find her but can't get her to answer her phone or be willing to talk to me. I am praying BLanca will not go after her.
Connie and Chema arrive at her house from having a good time at a karaoke bar... She remembers she was going to try to talk to Nata, but it is too late now, tomorrow she will. Chema tries to invite himself to spend the night, but she turns him down... He says 'you are driving me crazy!' but in a good mood and leaves. She watches him leave, and is smiling, not that uncomfortable looking at all.
At La Bonita, the happy couple are very smoochy and clingy, Mati finally sees 'el hermoso' as a sweet dream but Carlos is her sweet reality... Lazaro congratulates the couple... he wonders if it will work, they come from such different worlds, Carlos assures him his only intention is to make her happy. The idiot Mati brings back her 'curse' but Carlos keeps taking it as a joke and says she is blessed for all she makes him feel... Carlos asks Lazaro permission to take Mati somewhere... Lazaro says she is old enough. Carlos wants to do things right. Lazaro who is still in a sad mood, says you have to go after your happiness... because sorrows arrive on their own. When the happy couple leave, Manuela tells Lazaro he should do the same, to find his own happiness...
Fina is in her bedroom, gets a call, it is Gustavo her old boyfriend, seems he wants to meet her about Cantu and all the questions he was asking. Fina gets really nervous... (there must be something Gustavo has on her that is really important, i wonder if Gustavo knows the name of Roberto and/or that Nata is not her child) She yells at him not to call her again... he says never, even less when i tell you about an investigator that was asking about you and your daughters. Roberta comes in whining asking for the promised 'solution'. Once Fina yells at Rob to get out and Rob leaves in a huff, Fina tells Gustavo they have to meet and don't you dare talk to anyone before we talk.
Upstairs Rob and Nata are struggling in front of the stairs... Nata says even if I have to drag you i will make you take that DNA test, the only thing Rob is making me feel with her reluctance is that Jero is saying the truth and the child is not his. Rob pulls herself off yelling to Nata to let go of her... Humpty Dumpty had a great fall bouncy-bouncy tumbling down the steps belly down (of course! how else could it be?), all of a sudden all cameras malfunction and everything is in slow slo-mo... have to say it was all completely planed by Roberta who can think on her toes faster than her mom... she took one look at the stairs and came up with the idea all on her own... i am impressed!) Nata yells for mama, papa! (really, Nata? you could not call for Gonzo or Matias first?) Rob is yelling at Nata already not to touch her ... (come on! how many times Nata has to go through the torture of being blamed for everything by Rob and Fina for her to want to get out of that situation?? why does she keep coming back, masochist syndrome for sure!)
First to jump on scene is Fina, and Rob of course yells at her mom that Nata pushed her...
Fina: What happened??
Nata: She fell down the stairs!...
(REALLY??? I thought she was practicing her gymnastics and had tried to do a triple somersault dismount from the top step to see if she could land with feet planted on the first floor!
Ok, Nata I want you to start beating both of them to a pulp with one of those white giant bowling balls at the foot of the stairs... that is if you can lift them)
Fina: (the very predictable line, to Nata) How could you!!
In comes Gonzo almost diving right into Berta's belly! sorry, could not help it... DUMB number one... and the ever original first question 'what happened??'
In comes Matias who asks the same originality award winning question and then proceeds to grab Berta and take her in his arms.. (hey, dear tantrum boy... first lesson in first aid... you DON"T PICK UP someone who just tumbled down the stairs complaining of pain... there could be neck injury, head injury or spinal injury which you might have just made even more serious...) Now it is just pure pandemonium... Fina yelling curses and accusations at Nata, Berta complaining of it hurting, Nata trying to tell Gonzo I swear to you I did not do it!, Matt trying to pick up Berta and Gonzo trying to be totally useless... yelling 'Don't argue please!!' in a louder voice than them... Matt yells at Gonzo to get the door (Gonzo was too worried about stopping the argument than helping Berta... UN-BELIEVABLE!
Berta: Mom!, my baby, mom!!
Nata: Berta! Lets go with her, mom!!
Fina replays the scene we saw with the young girls where she pulls Nata by the hair... UN-BELIEVABLE!! 'Where are you going??'
(The voice of fear in Nata's voice looking at her mom when Fina has her grabbed by the hair with a mad dog face is priceless!!)
Nata: I will go with my sister, mom, please!!
Fina: You should have thought about it before pushing her down the staircase!
Nata: I did not push her!! We were arguing and she lost her balance and fell!... I swear it, mom, please!
Fina: I believe anything about you! You are capable of anything to destroy your sister's happiness!
Nata: No, mom, truly!
Fina: That is why you came back from the hacienda, no? To destroy her life! That is why you came to Mex City!
Nata: I only wanted to find the truth! To find justice! I did nothing wrong! I did not push her down!
Fina: Yeah I can see the justice you found! I don't want you near your sister! hear? I don't want you near her!
Nata: Mom..!... No!... I did not do anything to her, mom!! (she sits down in the stairs alone devastated...)
The pandemonium continues in the car... Fina calls the gynecologist to meet them in the hospital, already is asking her to be 'discreet' about the abortion... until they get a chance to talk... I am impressed with the way Fina can use all kinds of nastiness with Nata and a second later play the victim's voice on the cell phone to the Doctora...
Jero runs into Augie in hotel lobby... Augie is very sure Jero closed all his possibilities with Nata. Jero is sure Nata loves him and will never notice Augie... Augie brags that Nata used his shoulder to cry on... Jero says that is what you are for Nata, a shoulder to cry on, but her love is for me... Augie brags don't you see that I get what I want alway? I have your grapes, and will have your hacienda and Nata to live with in it as my woman!! (Jero is about to hit him) That is what gets you in trouble, you are too impulsivo... in love and business you have to have a cool head... Jero keeps saying you don' have Nata because she is too smart. Augie keeps arguing Jero was not able to make Nata happy, he will. Jero swears Nata is his and will never be Augies... Augie: We will see...
Hono finds Connie at Gina's center... Connie is surprised he is there.. .he was looking for her at her house, she tells him about the karaoke... With Chema? Yup, i had not had so much fun in a long time... Hono warns her about Blanca being a psychopath and can hurt you... Connie says ironically she already did... Hono is truly concerned about Connie's well being ... Connie says i am not a hurdle for her anymore... Hono says wrong! You will always be, because you have my love always... Connie says don't tell her so she won't harm me... Chema makes an opportune showing to break up the scene... Chema puts his hand on her shoulder which ignites a silent jealous rage in Hono... Connie is visibly uncomfortable but won't give in so she asks Hono 'need anything else'? No (he makes his exit, smoking red faced)
Another sweet scene with Carlos and Mati to break up all the tension... Carlos arranges for her to be ready in 3 hrs, he has some special plan for her. She will put a pretty dress Kari made for her a while back and she has not worn yet... Carlos can't wait in anticipation.
Nata in her bed, Augie calls but she does not want to meet him right now... Once he hangs up, door knocks at Augie's hotel room... its Selene... pushing herself up his sleeve... he is not really fighting it too hard... there is a call on his cell, but he won't answer, he wants to play with Sele instead...
Areli is saying her goodbyes... Lazaro tells her Augie is in MC... She says she wants to see Augie, but only to tell him something that is on her mind and then never see him again... Lazaro says I hope you will be able to... Areli says Augie is someone who just wants to control everyone else, to own everyone.. and when you fall in his trap it is hard to get out. but thanks to you I am able to.. With you I realized what caring folks can behave like... you helped me care about myself, value myself... Don't know why we always have to fall for who we should not... Maybe if you and I... (Lazaro turns her down again, but softly... the right man will arrive for you, when you expect it the least... ) They embrace for the goodbye, and this embrace is witnessed by Kari and Manuela... Kari is devastated.
ON their way back to the kitchen, Manuela consoles Kari, who thinks she lost everything... Manuela has a hard time believing the Doctorcito was so evil... Kari says it hurts bad about Alfo's betrayal and Lazaro's distancing himself from her... Manuela can understand Alfo, sometimes you don't consider the consequences of what you do... but about Lazaro... there is only one woman for him... you... but he is hurt... it will not be easy to win him back, but it all depends on you and your love for him...
At the fields, Carlos in on his cell phone making the arrangements for whatever surprise he has in mind for Mati. He is happy to hear it will all work out.
At hospital Jero is still waiting for Nata, Rob and Matt to show up, so he calls Nata's cell... Nata is not happy but answers his call. She tells him what happened. SHe swears to him she did not push Berta even though Berta says she did. Jero doesn't even care about that, he wants her to wait, he is heading there right now.
Nata then calls Gonzo at hospital to find out how the baby is. Gonzo tells her they have not said anything yet... She keeps insisting she did not push Berta. Gonzo says there will be time to talk about that. Just praying everything will be alright. Then Gonzo notices that Matt is devastated in a chair, neither Matt nor Gonzo believe Nata pushed Berta. Gonzo does not understand why Berta would say that, Matt say because Fina never helped them build a healthy sibling relationship...
At the office Adri lets Daniel review the financial reports... He immediately texts Blanca that he has the financial report... (are they planning on doctoring it to trick Hono and Gonzo?)
Adri goes to talk to Hono... she notices his anguish... he says he saw Connie with Chema and felt very angry... he doesn't know what he will do with this feeling... Adri says it shows you still love her... Hono says never question that, I love her with all my heart. Adri say then put aside your pride and go after her... Hono is shocked that his own daughter would give him relationship advise.
Connie is doing same with Chema in her own kitchen... he is trying to cheer her up... Connie is avoiding him and says she wants to go see Gina who is back in MC... Chema confronts her saying she is avoiding him... She says she still is trying to figure how to manage this situation... a month ago i did not even know I would be going through this... Chema says a month ago my mom was alive... did not say it to make her feel bad... on the contrary, live each day the way you want, in case you don't have a chance to tomorrow... don't concentrate in our differences, rather focus in our coincidences.
Jero arrives at MR manor...
Nata: I swear to you i never wanted to harm your baby or Berta.. I swear it...
Jero: Easy, easy... I believe you. (approaches her slowly showing lots of support...)
Nata: you really believe me?
Jero: Really.
Nata: ITs just that I wanted to go to the hospital but my mom did not let me... (wait, girl, you sound like a 8 year old punished for hurting her younger sibling ... I have to say SN saves this ridiculous line... She is the only one that can act through that ridiculous moment and make it somewhat believable)
Jero: ANd you are going to let your mother ban you from doing something you want to do?
Nata: She can't ban me from going to the hospital, right?
Jero: (nods no) Neither can she ban me...
Nata: We go?
Jero: Lets go.
At Ensenada town bar, Alvaro is half-drunk and comes in demanding drinks... the owner of the place comes to confront him calling him Alvaro (to which Alvaro takes offense, to this man and anyone in town he is DR ALVARO NESME!!) telling him that in his bar or anywhere in town, noone wants to hear from him... A man who loses himself in alcohol during a tragedy where his responsibility is saving lives and abuses of the wife of another man is an a___!!
Alvaro tries to pull rank, denies he abused her, and claims she gave herself to him, not once but many times... he says they will need his services, they say they would rather die than go to him. He gets kicked out of the place... not before the guy also calls him a murderer, accuses him that Rafa died in his hands because he was drunk the day he tried to treat him... Alvaro explodes and grabs him by the shirt... then he gets yelled at to leave by everyone in the place...
(seems Alvaro did not count on news moving fast around town... everyone knows about him being drunk with Rafa and also about him abusing Kari and Alfo... totally lost the respect of anyone in town... beginning with priest... this man better take a hike... far far away .. ON THE DOUBLE!!... )
Manuela finds Mati trying on her dress... she looks very pretty in a shorter white cotton dress... and a very happy face... which Manuela says when you are this happy you look even lovelier... Manuela says Carlos will go crazy when he sees her.
Fina in Berta's room in hospital, she seems to be in mood to celebrate rather than anguished...
Fina: You really surprised me now.
Berta: You did not pay attention to me (no me pelaste), you kicked me out of your room and I could not let Renata or Jero find out that I am not going to have Jero's baby, Matias' or anyone else's!
Fina: I noticed... but you got hurt... (in celebrating mode)
Berta: Yes, it hurts, but it was better than being discovered.
Doctora comes in...
Doctora: I told you it was wrong to take her out of the hospital.
Fina: But she is not here becuase of that... but because she fell down the stairs...So don't reprimend me, ok? (LOL!) I know you don't think I am a good mother, but I am truly! (wow! what a model mother!! give her the mother of the year award!!)
Doc: With the fall the earlier wound re-opened. so she will really have to stay a day or two for observation.
Rob: I don't want to stay!
Doc: If you don't your life will be at stake...
Fina: Alright, Doctora, it will be as you say... I only want to ask you a favor.. Could you tell my husband and his son that my daughter lost the baby today? ANd that it was the fall that provoked it?
Doc: (in disbelief) Do you realize what you are asking me?
Fina: The baby is gone already, no? Who cares if it was a few days ago or this morning?
Doc: I don't play your games, Ma'am!
Fina: Doctora, believe me that if it was not my daughter's emotional well being at stake in it, I would never ask you for it.
At La Bonita, Carlos is floored... Mati say I look horrible, right? OF course not! I am speechless!
He puts a blindfold on her to take her to 'a magical place that I prepared for you'... they take off...
Fina walks the doctora out to meet Gonzo and Matt... Gonzo asks the Doctora for Berta... Doctora say Berta is fine. Gonzo asks what about the baby? Fina jumps in and says the baby is gone. Berta lost it... Doctora gets a cell phone call and has to walk away...
Fina tells Gonzo it is even worse... Rob is sterile! (right on cue Nata arrives to hear the end of that)
Nata: What did you say, mom?
Fina: That you are the only one to blame for your sister Rob will NEVER... hear it well, ... NEVER have a baby.. you destroyed her life... and I hope you are happy now... (Nata is frozen,Jero is shocked... Gonzo has a warzone face.. Matt has a questioning glance for Fina...)
Previews: Voice over says everyone believed Roberta's lies... EXCEPT JERONIMO!..
Nata: What are you saying? that Rob threw herself down the steps?

Alfo/Kari and the waterworks at full flow:
Kari: We were friends...
Alfo: I thought Alvaro would give me the queen lifestyle I wanted and that I did not have with Ezeq... (boy woman, you don't need anything short of a real beating and shooting you to a small island with no food or comforts)... No I realize Ezeq had me in a palace full of love, all golden.
Kari: Did you really think I lived in a palace? (Alfo nods yes) .. Things are not as they seem, Alfo... I would have been HAPPY to switch lives with you... you changed the love of a husband who respects you, loves you and cares for you... for a man like Alvaro who only cares about himself... And not only that, but you betrayed our friendship, and it hurts bad.
Alfo keeps apologizing but Kari is too hurt to listen... Lazaro was listening from across the room, though...
Laz: Kari, maybe what Alfo did was to take the blindfold off your eyes...
Kari: Yes, but she betrayed a friend... and it hurts real bad. ( good for you Kari... the least they can give you is some time to digest all that)
Kari and Laz leave a very upset Alfo..
Rob and Matt are walking together, seems around the garden of MR manor. Matt says you should do that DNA test since the dates are near each other and that baby could be mine too... Rob is upset (with her best buzzer voice... boy that woman has a really annoying voice.) Rob says a woman knows when she gets pregnant... And even though Nata told Jero I would do the DNA test, I won't do it! Matt asks, and what if I ask you? Jero seemed very sure he is not your baby daddy, and so I also want to make sure that baby is not mine.
Adri and Nata:
Adri: Sorry i don't mean to be on Jero's side but I could not deny helping him. Even if you get divorced, learning the truth will help you out in the long run. He swore to me that he never slept with Berta. Something in me believes him.
Nata: Yeah I am also blown away at his certainty of not being the daddy. But so what? It's not just Rob's baby, but he lied to me! he broke my heart! He took revenge on me for something I did not do!
Adri: I know how you feel, I am not defending him but I put myself in his shoes... I would probably do the same as him.
Nata: Oh that's great that you are not on his side! (what would you say if you were??)
Adri: Just think about it for a second... Put yourself in his shoes!! What if the one relative you had left that loved you in this world killed themselves for the betrayal of someone? What would have you done? Would you sit there with your arms crossed or would you have gone out to find out the truth, no matter who fell?
Nata: I don't know!
Adri: I bet you would have done same as him! I know you! You would never have let an injustice go unnoticed.The problem is that Jero got bad leads. He went after Rob, then you came and he got confused!
Nata: Well, how easy... so he says 'well, I was confused, I was wrong, forgive me!.. that easy, no? ITs not so easy, Adri!
Adri: Yeah but you lied to him too about your name! You told him you had a boyfriend right at the place Rafa agreed to meet you at! So the confusion makes sense.
Nata: You are trying to make me feel bad for Jero. But no. He fixed his issue, I have not!
Adri: NO, you are wrong! He has not either. He has been trying to prove it was Rob, but has not been able to even with the necklace, the letter and the heart. And on top of that he fell in love with you like a stupid and now he does not have you.
Fina is talking to herself cursing Connie, she is very upset about Connie trying to talk to Gonzo and Nata in favor of Jero.
Fina's cell rings, the Licenciado calls her to let her know Gina has arrived back in Mex... He tells her about seeing her and Antonio at the airport... She gets even more upset that with Gina nearby, her nightmare is back on! ... he reminds her of their soon to come eloping... she gives him the typical ' (don't call me, ) i will call you'
Cantu is meeting with Gustavo the old governor boyfriend of Pepa's... Cantu is quick to bring Pepa's situation with Gonzo and asks what he knows about her... Gustav says Pepa and him did not break up exactly in good terms, and that she always liked the good life, living like a queen, and to belong to high society. Cantu asks him why she stayed here so long. Gustav says she was counting on my protection. Once I stopped being governor, and she had not heard of the father of her kids, she felt comfortable enough to go to MC. Cantu asks Gustav if he would be interested in providing him more info about Pepa.
At Gina's house, she is angry that Antonio keeps trying to rule her life. 'I don't want to keep on living at your rhythm, Gonzo's or Cantu's. I want to live my life! If you want a woman who will do as you say without questioning anything or saying her peace, you probably are with the wrong woman!' Cata and Antonio are concerned that something is bothering or anguishing Gina.
At Misery Manor, Gonzo gives Nata a support speech... he wants Nata to share with him her feelings, he wants Nata to stay a few days and give him a chance to help her... Antonio calls Gonzo to let him know Gina is in town. Gonzo will reactivate her security guards asap...
When Gonzo hangs up and tells Nata Gina is back in town, Nata is very bitter responding saying she wants Gina far from her and her life. Nata tells Gonzo that Gina knew why Jero married her. Gina is not a good person and i want her far away from me.
Berta is having a tantrum demanding that Fina give her a solution to the nightmare of having Matt and Jero on her tail about the DNA test.
Hono and Adri at her house... Hono does not want Blanca to find them.. Adri brings him to earth saying Blanca knows our phone number and our address, and even our routine. Hono is mad that he hired and even got along with that psychopath... Adri says she is beginning to believe the story that Blanca drugged him to get him in bed with her. Hono says that's the only way he could have done that. He absolutely loves COnnie, Adri points out that Blanca could go after Connie. Hono says that is true, need to find her but can't get her to answer her phone or be willing to talk to me. I am praying BLanca will not go after her.
Connie and Chema arrive at her house from having a good time at a karaoke bar... She remembers she was going to try to talk to Nata, but it is too late now, tomorrow she will. Chema tries to invite himself to spend the night, but she turns him down... He says 'you are driving me crazy!' but in a good mood and leaves. She watches him leave, and is smiling, not that uncomfortable looking at all.
At La Bonita, the happy couple are very smoochy and clingy, Mati finally sees 'el hermoso' as a sweet dream but Carlos is her sweet reality... Lazaro congratulates the couple... he wonders if it will work, they come from such different worlds, Carlos assures him his only intention is to make her happy. The idiot Mati brings back her 'curse' but Carlos keeps taking it as a joke and says she is blessed for all she makes him feel... Carlos asks Lazaro permission to take Mati somewhere... Lazaro says she is old enough. Carlos wants to do things right. Lazaro who is still in a sad mood, says you have to go after your happiness... because sorrows arrive on their own. When the happy couple leave, Manuela tells Lazaro he should do the same, to find his own happiness...
Fina is in her bedroom, gets a call, it is Gustavo her old boyfriend, seems he wants to meet her about Cantu and all the questions he was asking. Fina gets really nervous... (there must be something Gustavo has on her that is really important, i wonder if Gustavo knows the name of Roberto and/or that Nata is not her child) She yells at him not to call her again... he says never, even less when i tell you about an investigator that was asking about you and your daughters. Roberta comes in whining asking for the promised 'solution'. Once Fina yells at Rob to get out and Rob leaves in a huff, Fina tells Gustavo they have to meet and don't you dare talk to anyone before we talk.
Upstairs Rob and Nata are struggling in front of the stairs... Nata says even if I have to drag you i will make you take that DNA test, the only thing Rob is making me feel with her reluctance is that Jero is saying the truth and the child is not his. Rob pulls herself off yelling to Nata to let go of her... Humpty Dumpty had a great fall bouncy-bouncy tumbling down the steps belly down (of course! how else could it be?), all of a sudden all cameras malfunction and everything is in slow slo-mo... have to say it was all completely planed by Roberta who can think on her toes faster than her mom... she took one look at the stairs and came up with the idea all on her own... i am impressed!) Nata yells for mama, papa! (really, Nata? you could not call for Gonzo or Matias first?) Rob is yelling at Nata already not to touch her ... (come on! how many times Nata has to go through the torture of being blamed for everything by Rob and Fina for her to want to get out of that situation?? why does she keep coming back, masochist syndrome for sure!)
First to jump on scene is Fina, and Rob of course yells at her mom that Nata pushed her...
Fina: What happened??
Nata: She fell down the stairs!...
(REALLY??? I thought she was practicing her gymnastics and had tried to do a triple somersault dismount from the top step to see if she could land with feet planted on the first floor!
Ok, Nata I want you to start beating both of them to a pulp with one of those white giant bowling balls at the foot of the stairs... that is if you can lift them)
Fina: (the very predictable line, to Nata) How could you!!
In comes Gonzo almost diving right into Berta's belly! sorry, could not help it... DUMB number one... and the ever original first question 'what happened??'
In comes Matias who asks the same originality award winning question and then proceeds to grab Berta and take her in his arms.. (hey, dear tantrum boy... first lesson in first aid... you DON"T PICK UP someone who just tumbled down the stairs complaining of pain... there could be neck injury, head injury or spinal injury which you might have just made even more serious...) Now it is just pure pandemonium... Fina yelling curses and accusations at Nata, Berta complaining of it hurting, Nata trying to tell Gonzo I swear to you I did not do it!, Matt trying to pick up Berta and Gonzo trying to be totally useless... yelling 'Don't argue please!!' in a louder voice than them... Matt yells at Gonzo to get the door (Gonzo was too worried about stopping the argument than helping Berta... UN-BELIEVABLE!
Berta: Mom!, my baby, mom!!
Nata: Berta! Lets go with her, mom!!
Fina replays the scene we saw with the young girls where she pulls Nata by the hair... UN-BELIEVABLE!! 'Where are you going??'
(The voice of fear in Nata's voice looking at her mom when Fina has her grabbed by the hair with a mad dog face is priceless!!)
Nata: I will go with my sister, mom, please!!
Fina: You should have thought about it before pushing her down the staircase!
Nata: I did not push her!! We were arguing and she lost her balance and fell!... I swear it, mom, please!
Fina: I believe anything about you! You are capable of anything to destroy your sister's happiness!
Nata: No, mom, truly!
Fina: That is why you came back from the hacienda, no? To destroy her life! That is why you came to Mex City!
Nata: I only wanted to find the truth! To find justice! I did nothing wrong! I did not push her down!
Fina: Yeah I can see the justice you found! I don't want you near your sister! hear? I don't want you near her!
Nata: Mom..!... No!... I did not do anything to her, mom!! (she sits down in the stairs alone devastated...)
The pandemonium continues in the car... Fina calls the gynecologist to meet them in the hospital, already is asking her to be 'discreet' about the abortion... until they get a chance to talk... I am impressed with the way Fina can use all kinds of nastiness with Nata and a second later play the victim's voice on the cell phone to the Doctora...
Jero runs into Augie in hotel lobby... Augie is very sure Jero closed all his possibilities with Nata. Jero is sure Nata loves him and will never notice Augie... Augie brags that Nata used his shoulder to cry on... Jero says that is what you are for Nata, a shoulder to cry on, but her love is for me... Augie brags don't you see that I get what I want alway? I have your grapes, and will have your hacienda and Nata to live with in it as my woman!! (Jero is about to hit him) That is what gets you in trouble, you are too impulsivo... in love and business you have to have a cool head... Jero keeps saying you don' have Nata because she is too smart. Augie keeps arguing Jero was not able to make Nata happy, he will. Jero swears Nata is his and will never be Augies... Augie: We will see...
Hono finds Connie at Gina's center... Connie is surprised he is there.. .he was looking for her at her house, she tells him about the karaoke... With Chema? Yup, i had not had so much fun in a long time... Hono warns her about Blanca being a psychopath and can hurt you... Connie says ironically she already did... Hono is truly concerned about Connie's well being ... Connie says i am not a hurdle for her anymore... Hono says wrong! You will always be, because you have my love always... Connie says don't tell her so she won't harm me... Chema makes an opportune showing to break up the scene... Chema puts his hand on her shoulder which ignites a silent jealous rage in Hono... Connie is visibly uncomfortable but won't give in so she asks Hono 'need anything else'? No (he makes his exit, smoking red faced)
Another sweet scene with Carlos and Mati to break up all the tension... Carlos arranges for her to be ready in 3 hrs, he has some special plan for her. She will put a pretty dress Kari made for her a while back and she has not worn yet... Carlos can't wait in anticipation.
Nata in her bed, Augie calls but she does not want to meet him right now... Once he hangs up, door knocks at Augie's hotel room... its Selene... pushing herself up his sleeve... he is not really fighting it too hard... there is a call on his cell, but he won't answer, he wants to play with Sele instead...
Areli is saying her goodbyes... Lazaro tells her Augie is in MC... She says she wants to see Augie, but only to tell him something that is on her mind and then never see him again... Lazaro says I hope you will be able to... Areli says Augie is someone who just wants to control everyone else, to own everyone.. and when you fall in his trap it is hard to get out. but thanks to you I am able to.. With you I realized what caring folks can behave like... you helped me care about myself, value myself... Don't know why we always have to fall for who we should not... Maybe if you and I... (Lazaro turns her down again, but softly... the right man will arrive for you, when you expect it the least... ) They embrace for the goodbye, and this embrace is witnessed by Kari and Manuela... Kari is devastated.
ON their way back to the kitchen, Manuela consoles Kari, who thinks she lost everything... Manuela has a hard time believing the Doctorcito was so evil... Kari says it hurts bad about Alfo's betrayal and Lazaro's distancing himself from her... Manuela can understand Alfo, sometimes you don't consider the consequences of what you do... but about Lazaro... there is only one woman for him... you... but he is hurt... it will not be easy to win him back, but it all depends on you and your love for him...
At the fields, Carlos in on his cell phone making the arrangements for whatever surprise he has in mind for Mati. He is happy to hear it will all work out.
At hospital Jero is still waiting for Nata, Rob and Matt to show up, so he calls Nata's cell... Nata is not happy but answers his call. She tells him what happened. SHe swears to him she did not push Berta even though Berta says she did. Jero doesn't even care about that, he wants her to wait, he is heading there right now.
Nata then calls Gonzo at hospital to find out how the baby is. Gonzo tells her they have not said anything yet... She keeps insisting she did not push Berta. Gonzo says there will be time to talk about that. Just praying everything will be alright. Then Gonzo notices that Matt is devastated in a chair, neither Matt nor Gonzo believe Nata pushed Berta. Gonzo does not understand why Berta would say that, Matt say because Fina never helped them build a healthy sibling relationship...
At the office Adri lets Daniel review the financial reports... He immediately texts Blanca that he has the financial report... (are they planning on doctoring it to trick Hono and Gonzo?)
Adri goes to talk to Hono... she notices his anguish... he says he saw Connie with Chema and felt very angry... he doesn't know what he will do with this feeling... Adri says it shows you still love her... Hono says never question that, I love her with all my heart. Adri say then put aside your pride and go after her... Hono is shocked that his own daughter would give him relationship advise.
Connie is doing same with Chema in her own kitchen... he is trying to cheer her up... Connie is avoiding him and says she wants to go see Gina who is back in MC... Chema confronts her saying she is avoiding him... She says she still is trying to figure how to manage this situation... a month ago i did not even know I would be going through this... Chema says a month ago my mom was alive... did not say it to make her feel bad... on the contrary, live each day the way you want, in case you don't have a chance to tomorrow... don't concentrate in our differences, rather focus in our coincidences.
Jero arrives at MR manor...
Nata: I swear to you i never wanted to harm your baby or Berta.. I swear it...
Jero: Easy, easy... I believe you. (approaches her slowly showing lots of support...)
Nata: you really believe me?
Jero: Really.
Nata: ITs just that I wanted to go to the hospital but my mom did not let me... (wait, girl, you sound like a 8 year old punished for hurting her younger sibling ... I have to say SN saves this ridiculous line... She is the only one that can act through that ridiculous moment and make it somewhat believable)
Jero: ANd you are going to let your mother ban you from doing something you want to do?
Nata: She can't ban me from going to the hospital, right?
Jero: (nods no) Neither can she ban me...
Nata: We go?
Jero: Lets go.
At Ensenada town bar, Alvaro is half-drunk and comes in demanding drinks... the owner of the place comes to confront him calling him Alvaro (to which Alvaro takes offense, to this man and anyone in town he is DR ALVARO NESME!!) telling him that in his bar or anywhere in town, noone wants to hear from him... A man who loses himself in alcohol during a tragedy where his responsibility is saving lives and abuses of the wife of another man is an a___!!
Alvaro tries to pull rank, denies he abused her, and claims she gave herself to him, not once but many times... he says they will need his services, they say they would rather die than go to him. He gets kicked out of the place... not before the guy also calls him a murderer, accuses him that Rafa died in his hands because he was drunk the day he tried to treat him... Alvaro explodes and grabs him by the shirt... then he gets yelled at to leave by everyone in the place...
(seems Alvaro did not count on news moving fast around town... everyone knows about him being drunk with Rafa and also about him abusing Kari and Alfo... totally lost the respect of anyone in town... beginning with priest... this man better take a hike... far far away .. ON THE DOUBLE!!... )
Manuela finds Mati trying on her dress... she looks very pretty in a shorter white cotton dress... and a very happy face... which Manuela says when you are this happy you look even lovelier... Manuela says Carlos will go crazy when he sees her.
Fina in Berta's room in hospital, she seems to be in mood to celebrate rather than anguished...
Fina: You really surprised me now.
Berta: You did not pay attention to me (no me pelaste), you kicked me out of your room and I could not let Renata or Jero find out that I am not going to have Jero's baby, Matias' or anyone else's!
Fina: I noticed... but you got hurt... (in celebrating mode)
Berta: Yes, it hurts, but it was better than being discovered.
Doctora comes in...
Doctora: I told you it was wrong to take her out of the hospital.
Fina: But she is not here becuase of that... but because she fell down the stairs...So don't reprimend me, ok? (LOL!) I know you don't think I am a good mother, but I am truly! (wow! what a model mother!! give her the mother of the year award!!)
Doc: With the fall the earlier wound re-opened. so she will really have to stay a day or two for observation.
Rob: I don't want to stay!
Doc: If you don't your life will be at stake...
Fina: Alright, Doctora, it will be as you say... I only want to ask you a favor.. Could you tell my husband and his son that my daughter lost the baby today? ANd that it was the fall that provoked it?
Doc: (in disbelief) Do you realize what you are asking me?
Fina: The baby is gone already, no? Who cares if it was a few days ago or this morning?
Doc: I don't play your games, Ma'am!
Fina: Doctora, believe me that if it was not my daughter's emotional well being at stake in it, I would never ask you for it.
At La Bonita, Carlos is floored... Mati say I look horrible, right? OF course not! I am speechless!
He puts a blindfold on her to take her to 'a magical place that I prepared for you'... they take off...
Fina walks the doctora out to meet Gonzo and Matt... Gonzo asks the Doctora for Berta... Doctora say Berta is fine. Gonzo asks what about the baby? Fina jumps in and says the baby is gone. Berta lost it... Doctora gets a cell phone call and has to walk away...
Fina tells Gonzo it is even worse... Rob is sterile! (right on cue Nata arrives to hear the end of that)
Nata: What did you say, mom?
Fina: That you are the only one to blame for your sister Rob will NEVER... hear it well, ... NEVER have a baby.. you destroyed her life... and I hope you are happy now... (Nata is frozen,Jero is shocked... Gonzo has a warzone face.. Matt has a questioning glance for Fina...)

Cuando Me Enamoro #75 Tuesday 8/2/11 It's the roller coaster of love!! Hang on tight
Well ladies and gents, things are in full swing now, let’s see what all our love birds are up to today!! I’m going to jump past the re-play from yesterday and get right down to the good stuff.
Mati and Laza are in the kitchen packing up food, they are talking about Kari and Laza gets worried, and storms out of the house to find her. Mati chases him and as he leaves she grabs a note on the table from Carlos that says she has a smile more beautiful that the Virgin Guadalupe, She hides the note quickly as Carlos walks in and they speak briefly and she is short with Carlos.
Alphonsina is talking to the Padre explaining that everything is her fault, He can’t imagine how this is effecting her and then Alphonsina says that she is leaving town, he argues that she needs to think of her son who needs her. She says this is a tough decision, but after everything that happened with her and Dr.Creepy she has made up her mind and she is leaving in the morning.
Dr.Creepy is force feeding Kari and she spits on him( you go girl) Kari yells at him that he has a lover and she wants him to confess that it is Alphonsina and that she is having his baby, Creepy grabs her and yells that yes it’s true, and he continues to tell her how hot and passionate Alphonsina , not like her
Jero is still taking to Adri asking her for help, but she is hesitant because Nata is her BFF and she does not want to hurt her, but Jero says that is exactly why she has to help him,( I think he needs more help then is humanly possible, and no just with getting Nata back if ya know what I mean) he explains that Constanza is already to help him as well. Adri agrees to do what she can, because she doesn’t trust Roberta one bit.
Roberta and Fina are discussing how they were able to manipulate the situation and Jero to get what they wanted and no one knows anything. Roberta says that everything is perfect except that she can’t ever have kids. Roberta tells her that she should not worry about that, she is free and can do whatever she wants. Not all woman are motherly(she would know) she is free and doesn’t have to worry about anybody else ever. (okay i could go in so many directions with that dialogue, but I’m speechless. She just told her being barren is a god thing and she did her a favor New level for Fina) She is revealing in her destroying Jero when Gonzo walk in and asks who she is talking about and she tells him that she is shocked by all of this. Gonzo asks her to swear that Jero was lying and that she had nothing to do with he and Renata. (the more I watch her play saint and act offended I actually get a little ill.) She is shocked and dismayed that he would think that. She wears she is innocent and is hurt that her thinks her capable of such a thing. Gonzo does not look convinced
Matia, Nata and Roberta are all talking about Jero ( he doesn’t stand a chance if these are the two she is getting advice from) Matias looks very uncomfortable with Roberta grooping him,(as would any man) he finally excuses himself and leaves the room, Nata asks Berta about her love for Matias, she says that Berta never showed any interest, Berta swears that Nata needs to stay away from her and Matias or she will find out what a bad sister can really be like.
Blanca is going out for a stroll, but she has a stalker, Honorio grabs her and tells her that they are going to the hospital to confirm that she is in fact pregnant with his baby, she is not to happy about this and tries to argue, but he is not having any of it!!He puts her in the car and locks the door, she tries to get out, but she is stuck( doors unlock from the inside genius!! guess she is going to el doctor)
Constanza, shows up to see Nata and Fina tells her that she is not there, and they proceed to have it out! Connie tells Fina that she believes Jero and that she know that Fina will go to any lengths to protect her daughter, but she will fins out the truth. Fina slings back and throws Honorios betrayal in her face, but Connie is strong and says that she believes Jero. And that once and for all everyone will know the truth.
Nata joins Auggie for lunch,(bad news for Jero) she tells him that Berta is expecting Jero’s baby. Auggie suggests that the best thing for her to do is to be with him. She looks at him and says that he is crazy, and an idiot (or maybe that was me) she says no that that is wrong, but he interrupts and says that she has to know what he feels for her. that he is the best man for her to be with forever. ( is he kidding us with this, really? she just had it out with Jero hasn’t even called and attorney, i’m so shocked this guy is ridiculous) Nata looks less than thrilled. Nata tells him that this is not the best time or the best thing for her, but Auggie argues and tells her to think about it. She asks him not to say these things, but he continues to tell her that this is the right thing for both of them. Auggie tells her that he plans to buy La Bonita and once the divorce is final Jero will go back to Spain ( did i catch a glimpse if regret and sadness at the thought of Jero leaving forever or wishful thinking?)
Connie is talking to Chema, he is asking for a chance with her, he tells her he has been crazy about her since the first day they met and that he respected the fact that she had a husband, but now things are different. She says that she can’t love him, but he just wants and opportunity to be at her side. She says yes.
Honorio is arguing with Blanca who is begging him not to take her to the Dr, she already has one and he says that she is going regardless, Then she rolls down her window and yells to a cop to help her so he follows the car and Honorio is arrested. (k honestly did not see that one coming)
Adri calls Nata while she is eating with Auggie, she says she needs to talk to her, asap and Nata tells her that she will be there when she is done with Auggie. She hangs up and tells Jero that they are ready she will be there shortly, Jero asks where she is and Adri explains that she is with Auggie and Jero gets mad. Adri explains that they are friends and Jero says that he is not a good person, and Adri points out that he’s not one to talk.
Antonio and Gina are walking through the airport together arguing about, Gina wanting to fix things with Nata, Antonio thinks that it is because of Gonzo and she say’s no it’s more than that. She wants to clear her name, she wants to fins Pepa and be over all that has happened to her however there is a nosey PI pretending to be on the phone listening to every word.
Gonzo is in his office when his phone rings and he gets up and runs out!!
Laza waits for Dr.Creepy to leave and goes into the house to find Kari, who is gagged and tied up under the bed. He rescues her and gets her untied, she cries about being betrayed by her best friend, and Laza in true hero style picks her up and wisks her to safety!!
Dr.Creepy shows up at Alphonsina’s (i’m guessing he is not there to give her a check-up) he is being creepy talking about his baby she begs him to not hurt her she is pregnant, and that he is a good person, meanwhile her son sees what’s happening and runs for help, she continues to beg for mercy.
Carlos comes to talk to Mati and she tries to blow him off and he finally tells her that he is tired of her games and that he is no longer going to put himself out there. He is not going to bring anymore flowers, nothing. He is done and he will never speak of this again. Mati looks very unhappy at this and as he leaves she tells him she loves him and then says she is scared because of all the things that have happened to her other boyfriends. Carlos swears he won’t let anything happen and then they kiss (finally)
Alphonsina’s boy is running around looking for help for his mom so he goes to the padre to find his dad and Zeke hears and runs to help he grabs Creepy off of Alphonsina who is screaming he drags him to the ground and beats the crap out of him (rightly so) Sina is yelling to stop she doesn’t want Zeke getting hurt because of her. Laza comes in with Kari and the Padre and grabs Zeke off of him and Dr.Creepy slinks away.
Adri is waiting at the stables as Nata arrives, she asks what’s up and just then Berta and Matias arrive, Jero walks out and says that the baby is not his and that he wants to prove it to everyone that Berta is lying.
Carlos asks Mati if she is happy, she says yes. he says that she is his life and he will take care of her.
Roberta is still trying to keep her story straight when Jero asks her where and when they were together, she can’t answer and when he asks for a DNA test she refuses, but Nata agrees that the only way to put this matter to rest is to get the test. (what baby are they doing the test on exactly?) Roberta looks a little nervous
Laza is still trying to hold Zeke, Alphonsina, is pleading with Zeke and Kari for forgiveness, but neither look very moved at this point.
Roberta is still trying to refuse to take the test, but even Nata thinks she should so she makes Jero agree that if Berta takes the test that Jero will agree to leave Mexico and say out of there lives forever. He agrees and they all agree that Berta will take the test.
Shina is begging Zeke to forgive her and everyone clears out as Zeke loses it. He tells her to leave, but to leave alone cause she is not taking her son with her. He is staying with him.( he is really really mad can ya tell?)
Honorio is being bailed out by Gonzo and he is swearing that Blanca is lying and that he needs to prove it. He loves Stanza with all his heart and needs to fix this.
Laza comes in to see if Sina is okay, she says no Kari comes in and says that for good or bad Creepy was her husband and she was her bff, Kari says that she should have been happy with a good man who worked hard for her and her son. Sina agrees and Kari says she does not know her pain, Kari can’t get past her pain. Sina is left to cry over what she did!
Then the dvd cuts out, I need to extend the time on my recording cause this one always goes long. So no Avances today sorry.
