Mundo de Fieras--Thursday, October 26

Jocelyn confronts Gabriel and Luisito interrupts. Jos gives him a look that is less than maternal. She reminds everyone that Luisito terrible accident is all his dad’s fault…and no one else’s. L looks perplexed, Gabe just seems vexed. Gabe suggests that Jos gets some professional help.

Leo is sitting in the dark on the sofa, pining after Mari.

Out in the courtyard, Rogelio & Diana are frolicking & happy. Pedro looks on miserably.

Dolores is considering Tiberio & Karen.

Regina & Demian are discussing Demian’s intentions re: his renewed interest with JC.

Mari tells Candelaria she’s not sure she can deal with the current situation. She suggests leaving.

Leo’s shares with his taxi driving friend that he pines for Mari. Wahh…

Dolores shows up (without her habit) at Gabe’s house…surprised that he looks identical to Demian. They are chatting on the sofa, when Dolores hears Miriam’s voice. All the ladies get their hackles up. The family tree is briefly discussed and as Gabe leaves for work, Jos tries to mark her territory.

Karen (wearing a really ugly outfit) visits JC at his office. JC is pretty frank that he’s not interested in her…despite her very attractive habit of hair-twirling. She could care less and leans in for a well-timed kiss—just as Paulina walks in (and then walks right back out). Karen sees Paulina crying outside and heads over to ‘comfort’ her as only she can. Paulina tells her, halfheartedly, that JC is free so, like, whatever. When she heads back up to the office, she cattily lets JC know that she saw his little ‘buenos dias’ with Karen.

Rogelio is getting ready for work and is back to his old self. Diana is telling him how great it was to spend time with him and he brushes her off like some old dandruff.

Dolores, Miriam & Jos have a little chat about Dolores getting to know Karen a little better. On a side note…apparently Karen’s hair-twirling is so contagious that just talking about her makes Jocelyn take up the habit as well. It goes about as well as a Middle East peace conference and just as Dolores is getting thrown out, Karen shows up. Dolores spills the beans, telling her that they were talking about her father…that she had always felt for him as if they were siblings. Jos tries to maintain that he died in an accident…Miriam chimes in that we should just let the dead rest…in the family crypt. Dolores learning where that resting place is, does not seem too happy about it but wants to go visit, with Karen.

Regina goes to church and tells the priest that her problems with her husband are continuing. She also indicates she has a secret to tell…but first we have to hear about how much she was willing to suffer for her son.

At the office, Paulina continues the cold shoulder with JC. She puts her foot down and lets him know that they’re not

Ugh…Mari & Luisito are having their lesson and Mari promises that she’ll never leave him. Luisito doles out some dating advice….go for Leo.

Meanwhile Leo is washing his taxi and all the other drivers are standing around thinking of ways to cheer him up…despite his best efforts to be gloomy, he quickly cheers up.

Tiberio is flashing back again to schoolgirls in uniform. JC shows up looking for Demian.

Jos & Miriam are complaining about Dolores. Then Jos has a breakdown, saying she doesn’t want to go to jail. Then you better shut up, Miriam tells her. Jos says ‘This is all your fault, I didn’t do anything.”

Regina shows up at the architect office and tells Paulina that JC loves her with all his heart.

Tiberio tells JC that Rogelio is Gabe’s eldest son…and that Demian is fighting to the death with Gabriel & his family.

Gabe & Rogelio discuss JC, with Gabe saying he’s a good guy, despite his father. Rogelio gives a little pursed lip petulant pout.

Miriam & Demian are discussing Dolores’ visit and the possibilities of her becoming suspicious…even of Demian. Demian says he’ll be fine since he has such a way with the ladies. Ick.

Rogelio is on the phone with what must be his mistress, since he’s talking to her with such endearments and niceness, it certainly can’t be his wife, Diana. His gambling buddies surround him and demand payment. He says he’ll pay double, mustache-man gives him until tomorrow and then his henchman socks him in the stomach.

Back to Luisito & Mari…they are reviewing Mari’s earlier promise not to leave. Jos sneaks in and lets the bomb drop…Luisito gets a big surprise---a little brother or sister.

JC & Paulina are remembering their time together.
In an effort to get some fast cash…Rogelio has gone to the local ATM machine…Miriam’s safe…and has set up a camera aimed to record the combination. After Miriam leaves, he opens the safe and gets some jewelry to pay off his debts.

It’s time for the big family dinner. Luisito breathily asks if Mari is going to eat with them again. Jos freaks out when she finds out that she’s eaten there before and sat in her place. Jos demands that she get kicked out. Gabe counters that the only people who are leaving are he and Luisito. Mari shows up in the background and says she’ll leave, she doesn’t want to cause problems….Jos goes apesh!t and Clemente has to restrain her from attacking Mari. Luisito whines that she can’t go because she promised him. This sets Jos off again and now Clemente’s had enough…he’s going with them. Paulina walks in and asks what’s going on here…Gabe explains…she’s going with them. Now Miriam walks in, gets the update and Jos gets riled up again. Miriam prevents Clemente from telling everyone the truth about Mariangela.

JC is ironing out the details about working with Demian. Tiberio invites him to share his office, but looks hurt at the prospect of being a ‘third wheel’.

Jos is still complaining (this time just to Miriam) about Mari having sat in her place at the dining room table. Miriam tells her she’s an idiot because with her crazy behavior, she’s thrown Mari and Gabe together.

Mari’s whining to Candelaria about the mess she’s made.

Dolores & Karen visits Edgar’s grave. She is having a big old thought bubble ‘talking’ to Edgar. Karen is watching curiously. Finally she realizes that Dolores is the nun and asks why she tried to trick her.

In the kitchen, Jos is trying to intimidate Mari, letting her know that she’s not going to allow Mari’s presence to change anything about her family. Mari (props to her!) says, bring it on, bring it all on.

La Fea Más Bella #133 10/26/06 and I thought we were watching a comedy...

Tomas asks Lety if she really thought Fernando would cancel his wedding for her. He asks if she was with him this weekend. She replies that the guilt that she felt kept her from “being” with him. She couldn’t do it. Tomas tells her that she should have known that a many like Fernando would never marry someone like her. “Never,” she replies. How could you not see that it was a lie; a deception? Lety says that she was in love. Love “unglues” you from reality. Tomas says that he can’t say anything about love because he does not know much about it. She tells Tomas that Fernando seemed so sincere. Lety remembers the night that she and Fernando made love the last time in Omar’s apartment. “I was walking in the clouds.” Now I’ve woken up and it’s really a nightmare. Tomas confirms that it is a horrible nightmare. “You know what, Tomas? It was my fault.” He was an engaged man. It was logical that I would end up being the one who would lose. It was logical that he would marry her, since he was always going to marry her from the beginning.

Erasmo stands outside with the ladies and some men from the neighborhood. Julieta runs out and greets everyone. She asks Erasmo about what he’s doing. He says that everyone told him that there are no dogs in the neighborhood. He tells Julieta to tell them that they’ve heard a dog all night long. Everyone begins to talk. Julieta confirms that they’ve heard a dog, but she says it’s not very loud. Julieta convinces Erasmo to go back to the house. She tells everyone that Erasmo has very sensitive hearing. They return home.

Tomas asks Lety how she found everything out. She shows him the letter, and explains that Omar left it for Fernando when he left for Germany. She explains that Omar even left cards for Fernando to give her. He cannot believe that Omar directed everything. She begins to read the letter to Tomas. “For them, I’m a monster. I’m a monster.”

Julieta yells at Erasmo for inciting the neighborhood. She does not want him to make everyone mad. What was he thinking going out there at this hour of the night? He focuses on the dog and tries to sit at the table. She tries to convince him to go upstairs to bed. Moty cries. Erasmo figures out that the dog is not only in the house, but in the bathroom. Julieta denies and then confirms it. She tells Erasmo that he’s going to leave it in the bathroom.

Lety continues to read the letter to Tomas. He keeps calling the men scoundrels. Lety does not understand how they could do this to her. The whole letter is written like they were laughing about her. Tomas asks if Fernando has seen the letter. Lety explains that the one that she has is a copy of the original in his briefcase. Tomas asks what she said to Fernando about the letter: nothing. What could she say? She explains that she could not believe or understand it when she first found it. She’s read it many times and still can not understand it. She does not understand how Fernando could have deceived her so when she was always so helpful to him. How could he doubt her? She explains to Tomas that Fernando and Omar thought that she and Tomas were a couple and that they wanted to take the company. They guess about the plan. She thinks that they were going to wait until all of the debts were paid and then Fernando would end the relationship with her. Lety begins to read the letter again. Tomas basically says that he and Lety are idiots. Lety says that it is clear that Fernando will marry Marcia while continuing the illusion with her so she will fake the balance. Tomas asks her what she’s going to do.

Julieta has Moty out of the bathroom. She’s going to keep him and take care of him. Erasmo says no, he looked like a fool yelling at the neighbors. Julieta says that she told him not to go out there. “That dog is going out to the street!” He’s going. He’s staying. This is my house too. You can have anything you want here, but not a dog! Julieta changes tactics and tries the baby voice. How can she put the dog in the street with an injured foot? Just a couple of days to let it heal? No, put it outside. Julieta says that she bathed it; it’s very clean. She tries to take it over to Erasmo, but he doesn’t want it near him. Julieta asks if the dog frightens him.

Lety doesn’t know what to do; she’s full of fear. She does not want to return to Conceptos, but Tomas reminds her that if she leaves Conceptos she’ll be renouncing Filmo Imagen. Lety does not know how to confront this problem.

Fernando sits in his red chair, remembering a different night – their last night in Cuernavaca. He thinks about the peace Lety gives him in his soul. He suddenly remembers that Lety said she had something to tell him, but changed her mind. He wonders what it could have been. Why was she acting so strange?

Julieta laughs at Erasmo. She’s figured it out. Erasmo is scared of dogs. She does not understand how such a little dog could frighten him. He has a story to tell her. When he was a little boy a little Chihuahua bit him in the butt. (I really could have done without the butt shot.) The whole neighborhood made fun of him. Julieta does the same. “It’s really funny!” she tells him. Now that Julieta knows why he doesn’t like dogs, he asks her to take it outside. Julieta begs some more to keep it. She will keep it far away from him, but asks for him to allow her to have it for a couple days. Erasmo weakens.

Tomas has an idea. He pulls out another envelope. Don Fernando has to pay! Tomas points out all the things that Fernando has done wrong. The worst of these was that he gave Lety his company. Oooh, intense musica. All of the papers are completely legal. They show that you have an embargo on Conceptos and you are the only legal owner. You’re the owner of the Villaroel family and the Mendiola family. He hands her the envelope. In your hands you have Fernando Mendiola. Tomas is very scary in this scene. Don’t piss off an ugly man and don’t mess with his girl!

Tomas wants revenge. They can bring Fernando to his knees. He asks Lety what she wants to do. She doesn’t know; she’s in too much pain. She cannot think clearly. She asks him to put the papers away. She can’t think in this moment. He says they’ll talk tomorrow. Tomas puts the papers in her chest. Tomas says that no matter what, Lety will have all of his support. She lets him know how much she needs him. She can only talk to him like this. He jokes that he’s her boyfriend. It’s his time to be here for him when she needs him. Lety smiles through her tears.

The dog is back in the bathroom. Erasmo makes Julieta promise that they’ll do something about the situation tomorrow. She says okay. Erasmo wants to go to Lety’s room and check on Lety and Tomas. Julieta knocks on Lety’s door and enters the room. She sees Tomas holding Lety’s face, but she’s not too sure what’s going on. Tomas makes a joke. Julieta separates the two, saying that its time to sleep. Tomas says he’ll see Lety tomorrow to talk business. “Tu eres la fea mas bella” and Tomas leaves. Julieta asks Lety what’s wrong. Nothing. Julieta says that she could tell that something was wrong from the moment Lety walked into the house. Lety says it’s the same as always, problems with people in the office. Julieta thinks that Lety is suffering just like she did with Miguel. She asks if the same thing happened. “No, Mamita.” Julieta lets Lety know that she can always tell her anything. Julieta says good-night. Lety cries on her mom’s shoulder and then says good-night. Julieta leaves the room and Lety cries.

Julieta goes into her bedroom. She tells Erasmo that Tomas left and that everything is okay with Lety. Erasmo asks if the dog is well enclosed in its room. Julieta pensively thinks about her Lety.

Lety writes in her diary. She’s down-graded to a mere pencil. She says that history always repeats itself, but it’s more cruel each time. Julieta stands outside her door and hears her cry, but runs off when she hears Moty. Lety writes about her pain. It’s not worth it, because the man of her dreams became her executioner. It’s not worth it to live; the same thing will happen. It repeats itself over and over again from the day I was born. Being ugly made me so fragile; I fell from the first demonstration of affection. I knew he was engaged. Julieta knocks on the door. She gives Moty to Lety as a gift. She tells her how she found the dog. Lety smiles, and hugs the dog. Julieta says that Moty needs Lety’s care. Lety promises to take care of the dog. After her mom leaves, Lety tells Moty that she also needs his care. She’s in pain too, possibly more so than Moty.

Julieta prays. She can tell that her daughter is suffering. Saint Jude makes his cameo. Julieta wants to help her even though Lety does not want to tell her what happened.

Lety talks to Moty. She thinks that the dog was as sad as her, living in the street. Lety wants the dog to listen to her. She remembers kids dancing around her calling her very ugly. We see a very young Lety crying. Tomas watches from the sidelines. Lety screams out for them to stop calling her ugly She never had friends. She didn’t even dare ask for a favor. Young Lety is seen in the foreground, drawing hearts in her diary. (Guess this is the origins of the flashing pens) Lety remembers her quinceanera. Her parents look very proud. Lety looks like a pink marshmallow. Lety comes down the stairs to applause. The dancers give her a sword salute. Lety trips over her dress and falls. Erasmo comes to her rescue. He tells her to be happy because she’s now fifteen. Some people cheer, others shake their heads. Lety and Erasmo dance together. Tomas dances in the background, and he looks about fifty times better with a hat on his head and different glasses. Eventually, Tomas reluctantly dances with her with some encouragement from Julieta. They do an interesting lift. (I’m not sure why these two weren’t invited to Bailando por un Sueno). Tomas tells the rest of the men to dance with Lety too, but they turn around. Erasmo goes back onto the floor to dance with Lety. We see that Roman is one of the dancers. All of the dancers surround her. Four guys pick her up. Everyone applauses. She was very embarrassed and wanted to die, but something worse was about to happen. We flash back to the party. Erasmo makes an announcement. Erasmo calls her a flower – a girl who’s become a woman. She’s a very honorable woman. Tomas stands up and cheers. Erasmo calls Lety over to his side. She doesn’t want to go over because she thinks she’ll fall again. Roman makes a farting sound. Erasmo continues to talk while everyone else looks at their watches or sleeps. He finally presents her. She half bows. Julieta comes onto the stage. She cries. Lety asks her to stop crying. Julieta goes on how Lety has been a great example, good with her parents and such a great student. She’s been a light in our life. At that moment, the lights in the hall blink. Someone wrote a mustache and glasses all over her portrait and destroyed her cake; it was Roman of course. Lety runs out of the ballroom with her cake topper in her hands. Roman and his gang laugh. Lety runs into the rain. She dreamed of this moment! Why is always so hard for her to find happiness? She never wants to have a party again! Never again! Never again!

Back in Lety’s room we see present day Lety watching fifteen year old Lety coming into her bedroom and thanking her parents for the party. Erasmo reassures her and gives her kisses on her forehead. The two Letys cry in their bedroom. Younger Lety looks in the mirror forlornly. Older Lety tells Moty that nothing has changed. She remained the same ugly girl. Lety writes in her diary again. Tomorrow is a new day, but the same life is waiting for me. Every time I start to dream I wake up in hell. Tomas says that I have Fernando in my hands. It would be just revenge to give him back his company. The only thing that I want is to run away. I have to confront this, because I was wrong as well. I hope something appears tomorrow that will give me clarity. I have the illusion that tomorrow I’ll wake up and it will all have been a nightmare.

Lety barely gets off the elevator. Alicia greets her with her usual name calling. (Notice that Alicia said Buenas Noches?) Lety chides her. She’s not going to play her games. Yeah, bachelorettes are good for nothing. Sara supports Lety. She tells Sara to leave Lety alone. Juana insults Alicia’s intelligence. The two groups argue back and forth. Alicia makes fun of them for being bachelorettes. Lety looks on at the argument. When she finally speaks she tells Alicia that she would rather be a bachelorette than a woman with a broken marriage, a broken profession and a broken life.

Will Lety confront Fernando or will the games begin?
How is Fernando going to try to explain the engagement ring?
Will Alicia ever get a dose of reality?

Heridas de Amor Thursday 10/26 - Honeymoon is over

Berta tells Renata that Fernanda is her mother and not her. She doesn't want to believe it as she recalls the times she insulted her during Florencias wedding Alejandro comes over to consoles her and she tells everyone they are all liers. Gonzalo says he has a couple of things to explain but she does not want to hear it. Roman explains to Francisco that Amparo needs to live her life.. Fernanda orders Berta to tell them what happened that night.

She begins by saying Alfredo's name and everything comes out in the open. Gonzalo tells Alejandro that now he knows and he understands everything, the man he shot was Alfredo Luke and it was his father and he came to town to destroy him. Alejandro tries to explain things but Gonzo refuses to listen. Gonzo runs over to Ale and Fabricio comes between them, Gonzo tells him to move out of the way. All hell breaks loose at the San Llorente's. Nuria cries as Cesar tells her about Bertha's money. Both Miranda and Gonzalo don't want to listen to anything Fernanda or Alejandro have to say.

Miranda thinks Alejandro only used her as Gonzalo asks Fernanda if she knew Alfredo was alive. All the while Berta gloats over her victory and also tells them now they know who Florencia's father is. Gonzalo throws them out but Alejandro refuses to leave. Miranda does not want to listen to Alejandro and asks Ale and Fernanda what kind of monsters they are. Berta orders Renata not to let her mother get near her, and that to be carefull because she will pretend to be nice to her, she tells her she has something else to tell her that she did not hear, she starts telling her something but there is no sound.

Miranda tells Ale and her mother to leave as Gonzalo thinks Fabricio was also their accomplice. Alejandro tells Gonzo that he will be back, he tells Miranda that he loves her and that again Bertha turned things in her favor, Miranda tells her father she's filing for divorce from Alejandro as he tells her not to to do it because Alejandro was right on one thing: Berta was the one to blame for what just happened.

Miranda tells him all she did was opened their eyes. Miranda cries as she recalls her honeymoon and their wedding bows, (BTW they showed some of the missing scenes in the flashbacks) saying she lost Alejandro since the wounds they caused each other are too deep. She thinks he never loved her and only used her to get to Gonzo when Renata tells her she's going home and tells her how she feels she does not want to cry anymore but she will have to see Fernanda everyday.

She tells Renata to watch out for Bertha calls Berta a snake when Bertha enters to defend herself and tells them she did nothing it was everyone else that did wrong all she did was protect them.(that Bitch) Miranda throws her out and begins to cry as she begs Renata to stay the night with her she needs to be with her.

The next morning Alejandro drinks one after another he is blasted as he tells Daira what happened. Because of Bertha he lost Miranda and nothing else matters now. She tells him he can't let Berta win as he tells her nothing matter anymore. He says he wants to get so drunk that so that when he wakes up all will be gone, she gets him a cup of coffee to sober him up Gonzalo tells Miranda they'll meet at the ranch so they can talk. Alejandro apologizes to Daira and tells Luciano that without his wife he doesn't care about anything including his finances.

Daira tells him it's not over; someone's going to die, Luciano tells Daira, that all that stuff is nonsense, but Ale says that if Daira says so it will happen. Miranda arrives at the ranch much to the surprise of Arcadia but not Naty. Bertagoes to Alejandro's house and Daira insults her, Ale tells Daira to leave them alone. Arcadia and Miranda go into the kitchen Naty tells her that she needs to let it out, Miranda starts to stirr the chocolate and cries as she says she's lost Alejandro. Naty tells her to let it out and to heal her spirit, She tells Naty that she loves Ale with all her heart as she eats a piece of chocolate, she says it is food for the Gods. Is magical, is to fight good and evil between love and hate.

Gabino tells Miranda that everything is returning back to normal. Alejandro tells Berta off and calls her a monster, she pretends to be a miss goodie two shoes, he says she will not get him involved in her game, she is evil and she make sure to spit all her venom to him and Fernanda Florencia learns from Juan what Berta did as she says she needs to talk Gonzalo and begs him not to let Berta near her. Juan tells Fabricio that Florencia asked not to let Bertha in to see her tot ell her she is dying, she only wants to see her dad and sisters, Fabricio says he knows what his wife is planning to do.

Miranda is praying as she thinks of the honeymoon with Ale. Gabino tells Miranda not to be sad, that everything will be ok. he tells her that the Hacienda nearby is up for sale and someone is buying it to put a some sort of industrial plant, Miranda gets alarmed. Fermin tells Pamela that all the apapers they used to withdraw the money were fake that Leonardo Altamirano is dead.

Heridas de Amor - Wednesday October 25

Daniel finishes his self therapy by equating that money and love are related for him. He needs to pay for love because of lessons he learned as a child from his parents (Julio and deceased wife). He runs off to explore these thoughts in greater detail. Erika comes over to Raul's wanting to have a cafecito with him. Raul instantly kisses her.

Bertha and Fab continue their discussion. Fab thinks Bertha killed Flor's doctors in Germany because he had asked them to send Flor's records. Bertha laughs. She isn't sweating so there must be a loop hole in his thinking. Bertha tells Fab that she can do things that are beyond his imagination. Because he knows so much she is going to convert him into her accomplice, little boy (nene). He tries to laugh saying not to threaten him. Bertha tells him that she doesn’t threaten she promises.

Fern thanks Juan for stopping her from giving Flor the adrenaline injection. If he hadn’t been there she would have done something stupid. (Weird that a world class heart surgeon would need the help of an intern but ….) He says she is not only a doctor but a mother. She goes on to admit that the mother aspect of her is what caused the problem with Flor. See Flor woke up and realized that Fern was her mother and that is what provoked Flor’s heart attack. Juan leaves the room and Fern gives confession to the passed out Flor. Fern tells why she left the girls. Their father said that if she didn’t leave he would kill the girls, and her. She left to protect them. Flor should understand, more than others, what a mother would do to protect her kids.

Charo reports to Miranda and Alejandro what Bertha has been doing since her arrival. Charo says that Bertha is different than before, she is scarier. Al and Miranda tell Charo to continue being Berthas stooge. Al and Miranda talk of looking for a place to live. Miranda wants to live in the Mexico City mansion while Bertha is there. Al agrees.

Bertha tells Juan and Fab that she wants to see Renata. Fab is offended that Bertha is inviting herself over to Juan’s when Juan has not asked her. Juan scolds Fab for being rude. She makes a tsk tsk sound to Fab. She says that “Juan is showing that although he is poor he is a gentleman not a louse (patan). The same thing can not be said about you (Fab).” Fab looks as if he could bust out in anger, clenching his jaws. Juan looks like this might have bothered him but at the same time it’s hard to tell with him. Then Bertha tops it all off by starting to call Juan Johnny. She asks if it's ok to call him Johnny and Juan says Tia Bertha can call him whatever she would like. They head off for Juan’s.

Erika and Raul talk over why he kissed her and how they should start to be boyfriend and girlfriend. Carola comes in and says she hopes Erika will not be like her friends Renata and Veronica. Carola welcomes Erika into their happy family. They celebrate.

Miranda tells Gonzalo that she and Al would like to live with him while Bertha is there. He is OK with that. They discuss meeting with Bertha to confront her.

Renata is sweeping the house while wearing an apron tied around her waist. Juan brings Bertha in to see her. Bertha is impactada to see Renata dressed like this in these surroundings. She tells Renata that even Charo doesn’t dress like this. Renata just stands there with wide tearing crocodile eyes and takes in what Bertha has to say. Bertha tells her that she will help her leave this. She will leave this place because Bertha says so. After Bertha leaves Renata finally speaks and whimpers that Juan is not going to accept this.

Fern reports to Fab that Flor is stable, and the baby also. Miranda calls while they are talking and tells her of the plan to confront Bertha asking her to join them. Fern tells Fab to not tell anyone. He agrees.

Bertha meets up with El Guapo in a restaurant. He tells her they burned the fields and the workers’ houses. No one died. Bertha acts as if it is a shame that no one died. Guapo smokes a cigarette and tells Bertha that it’s bad to wish harm on your fellow man. Remember that what you ask for you might just get. She tells him to get ready to ask Miranda for a second time to sell the hacienda. Guapo interrupts her to say he wants Miranda for himself.

Flor wakens and Fern tells her to stay calm. Fern will leave and send Juan in. Flor tells her Mama don’t leave. I need to thank you for giving me life. I don’t want to lose you. Forgive me mama.

Bertha laughs and asks El Guapo if he has ever looked in the mirror. There is no way that Miranda would ever be interested in him. Guapo doesn’t want Miranda to be his wife. He just wants her for a night. He wants Miranda to know what a real man is like, not just some Ken doll like the one she carries around. Bertha smirks and tells Guapo to take her, she doesn’t care what he does or doesn’t do with Miranda. El Guapo tells Bertha that if Miranda disappoints him then there will always be her, Bertita. Bertha bristles at this, acting as if she is nervous. She tells him a dicho I liked. "La miel no se hizo para el hocico de los cerdos Herbert." Honey isn’t made for the snouts (muzzles) of pigs. (Also by her calling El Guapo Herbert, her familiarity with him tells me that she has known El Guapo for a long long time.) El Guapo continues focusing on Bertha. He tells her that she STILL (aun) awakens passions and fantasies in him. Bertha tells him to never her call Bertita again as she puts on her glasses. She also tells him to stop undressing her with his eyes. She tries to regain control of the conversation and tells him that she wants to teach Fab a lesson. She wants El Guapo to do exactly as she says.

Fern tells Flor that she has nothing to pardon Flor for. Flor wants no one or anything to separate them again. Fern wants to know how Flor remembered that she was her mother. Flor doesn’t know. She doesn’t care about what happened she just wants to be happy that they are now together. She won’t permit anyone to say anything bad about her mother anymore. She understands s what Fern did for her daughters. They thank each other and cry together.

Daira and AL talk over the honeymoon. Daira gets mad at Al for not telling Miranda the truth and for leaving so much for later. Daira feels that something bad is going to happen. She is very upset about her bad premonitions. Luciano enters bringing news that the plane had a mechanical problem (*what plane?). That isn’t what she has been worried about, it's something else. They start to talk about Lisania. Al wants Luciano to find a woman to follow Lisania. Miranda calls and tells Al of the confrontation plans. She and Gonzalo want AL to be there. Lisania eavesdrops on ALs phone conversation. After they hang up he repeats what Miranda has said to Daira, Luciano and Lisania who is still spying on them. Luciano warns that Bertha knows of why Al came to Mexico; to avenge his fathers death. Luciano believes that most likely Bertha will tell this to everyone. AL agrees. Finally Lisania comes out of her hiding space to say what’s bad about Bertha saying that since it's true?!

Flor tells Juan about her new feelings of not wanting anything bad to be said or done to Fern. How she wants to do good with the time she has left.

Nuria wants everyone to know that Cesar is her husband. He has excuses. Bertha rings Cesars doorbell. Cesar sends Nuria to the guest bedroom but she leaves her purse on a table for Bertha to see. Cesar immediately starts to threaten Bertha as she enters his place. He tells her he knows a lot about her. He warns her to not leave him out of the money she has taken from AL. She laughs and tells him that they are even Cesarin. She leaves and Cesar mocks what she said to him.

Lisania yells at AL about getting their money back. She is semi hysterical but AL doesn’t help because he is yelling too. She asks Luciano if AL is really her brother or maybe her father? Luciano tells her that she is showing a great lack of respect. She then starts to rant to Al about how Al wants to hit her. She says no one hits her but who cares because it’s her body. She reminds everyone how she hates them all as she leaves. Al tells Daira that Lisania needs to go back to Italy.

Carola goes over to Juan’s house to give Renata a message that AL will be coming by to pick her up. Renata is walking around the house lighting candles in an outfit that can only be described as a modern interpretation of a French Maids costume. She is wearing a short pleated skirt, her belly showing with a tied ruffled shirt. Perfect outfit for cleaning/ lighting candles. Renata’s cell phone has been turned off. Carolas there because Miranda called Rauls looking for Renata. During their exchange Carola tries to show off that she knows Daniel. Renata is unimpressed. Carola tells Renata that Daniel called her a spoiled rich girl which is the same thing Renata had just said about Daniel. The girls continue smarting off to each other until Carola leaves steamed at Renata.

Raul tells Carola that he told her he would deliver the message. He knew Renata would not be nice to her. Carola continues to lament about Renata. She asks Raul if she is prettier than Renata. Raul says they have equal bodies, equal faces but Renata wins for having prettier eyes, and for being a rich classy girl. Carola is pissed to hear him say this. Raul says look I’m joking. You have to stop comparing yourself with others and be happy with yourself. Carola doesn’t understand this and elicits some more advice from the wise teenager. Raul gives a few more wise pointers then goes back to his ruler. Is he an architectural student or a psychologist?

Veronica and Renata talk by phone. Veronica is not tolerating her HIV medicine and is feeling sick. Renata advises Veronica to get a job. Fab comes over to Renata’s as they talk. Veronica tells Renata to tell Fab to do what she has said (give her the money!). After the girls hang up Fab tells Renata that Veronica is blackmailing him.

Fern and Al meet in the same restaurant that Bertha and Guapo were just in. Fern goes over her happiness with what has happened with Flor. They then move on to the topic of the confrontation of Bertha. Fern says that Bertha surely has reserved evilness for them, but they have to confront her and find the truth.

Renata tells Fab that he can’t pay Veronica anything. She scolds Fab for messing around with Veronica in the first place. Then Renata communicates that Veronica will continue to ask for more and more money. Fab has to tell Flor. They leave together to go to the confrontation.

Cesar and Nuria talk about Bertha. Nuria tells him that Bertha hit her a lot when she was younger. Nuria has learned to fear Bertha. Nuria must have left the doll at the hacienda in another life. Cesar laughs at the idea of another life. He explains to her that the only explication is that she lived in the hacienda when she was a little girl. He tells her that she is the legitimate daughter of Bertha de Aragon.

Alejandro and Miranda talk while getting ready for the confrontation. Al tells Miranda that the reserved stock and the business is a gift to her. Miranda is happy but says he can’t give her those kinds of gifts. They signed a contract, the stock and business belongs to him.

Gonzalo tells Fern in his living room that this is the best moment for Renata to learn the truth. Renata walks in to hear the last of his sentence and asks what truth dad? Renata tries to dismiss Fern from the room saying this is a family event, and although you are my father’s lover, you don’t need to be here. Renata actually gets a little sassy about the subject making Fab nervous. Gonzalo gets mad and tells Renata now is the time for you to know the truth of who your mother is. Renata pleads that her mother be Bertha. Please be Bertha!

Bertha walks into the room to hear Renata saying this to Gonzalo. She says I’m sorry darling but your mother is her, Fernanda de Aragon.

Mundo de Fieras, 10/25/06

We open with Demian telling Regina that it is her fault and only her fault that JC has gone away from her.

Paulina and JC are in their office pretending to concentrate on business. Gabriel arrives. JC introduces himself. He has a thought bubble that Gabriel is his father, his real father.

Demian has told Tiberio to set up an office for JC in the company because he is going to ask JC to work for him. Tiberio wants to know why the sudden change in Demian’s desire to have JC around. Demian tells Tiberio to follow orders and not ask questions.

Demian has a thought bubble explaining that his motive for having JC around is to hurt Regina and Gabriel. Demian will make them pay by using JC, Regina’s bastard son.

Tiberio is writhing around in hatred and jealousy for JC. He has endured humiliation etc. from Demian with the promise (at least in his mind) that he would inherit Demian’s empire. Now JC has turned up and it looks like all the humiliation was for nothing.

Otilia has come for money from Federico. He says that he doesn’t have it now. Otilia suggests that Federico get it from Miriam. When Federico asks why Miriam would give him money, Otilia says that he and Miriam share a secret – the fact that Joselyn is their daughter. Federico is impactado.

At Miriam’s house of fashion, Joselyn is a happy employee. Miriam is worried that something will happen, Joselyn will have hysterics and blab all their secrets.

Rogelio is boasting to someone on the phone that he can make his wife do anything. Off the phone, he has a thought bubble about his concern about what Diana might tell Gabriel and ruin him.

Soraya advises Diana to tell Rogelio’s father everything. Diana says she needs time – she still loves Rogelio. Diana asks Soraya about her son, Jorge. Soraya says that just the other day she saw him from a distance. She asks Diana to help her find him.

Giorgio(Jorge) is sucking up to Joselyn at work by flattering her and she tells him that he has been a good boy and can take her out to have some fun.

Otilia threatens to tell Clemente that Joselyn isn’t his daughter if Federico and Miriam don’t cough up the dough.

JC meets Leo in a bar. He doesn’t have any friends in Mexico and would like to Leo as his friend. Leo accepts. Leo asks JC how he is doing. Not so good, says JC. His mother confessed that she still loves Gabriel and that has confirmed JC’s belief that Demian was right and Gabriel is his father. Leo gives JC good advice – why don’t you talk to your mother about your suspicions. [or get a DNA test] Of course, JC doesn’t agree to this sensible suggestion. What reason would Demian have for lying to him about this? [JC seems to show a pathetic lack of imagination here. He knows that Demian hates his mother. So wouldn’t alienating JC from his mother be just the kind of thing that Demian would do???]

Regina tells Simona that she is sure that Demian did something to turn JC against her. But what, what could he have told JC????

While giving JC good advice, Leo has a thought bubble – If he fathered a bastard, Gabriel is not the good guy that he appears to be - all the more reason to get MA away from him.

Gabriel tells Luisito that he will try and have dinner with his family as often as he can. Then he tells Luisito that a doctor who is a specialist in whatever is wrong with the kid is in Mexico and he has an appointment for L-ito to seem him. L-ito is ecstatic – maybe he could run and play without crutches like other children. [Jeez, nothing like getting the kid’s hopes up for something that might not be successful.]

Otilia is now making her blackmail request directly to Miriam. Joselyn comes in and they all make nice. Once again, Joselyn tells Federico how she feels so much more for him than for her father. Then Clemente comes in and asks what is going on.

Dolores is hanging around outside Demian’s office building in her nun’s outfit. Tiberio appears and she appears to be about to have a conversation with him when Demian appears and asks if she fancies Tiberio as a man. Tiberio is shocked and Dolores just lowers her eyes. [Maybe she has taken a vow of silence.] Tiberio asks her if it is true that she likes him as a man and finally she speaks. ‘It is an infamy, an infamy,’ she stammers and leaves. Demian and Tiberio are convulsed with laughter.

Gabriel, Paulina, Pedro, Diana and Luisito are having lunch. MA comes in with a pitcher of water. They intreat her to sit down with them and Luisito makes gag-making comments like, ‘we are all a family now.’

Demian offers JC a job in his company. JC says sorry he has a job right now – he has signed a contract. Demian says that his offer won’t be open forever. JC once again declines and Demian says that he will regret this.

With an extreme close-up of Dolores’ make-up free eyes, she tells the mother superior that she understands that to confront Demian, she cannot have any fear.

Tiberio is driving with Karen when he sees some young girls in their extremely short school uniforms. He can’t take his eyes off them and his thought bubble is spoken in a distorted low voice: he doesn’t want to go back to when he was attracted to young girls. He doesn’t want to feel that again.

After lunch, MA reproaches Gabriel for making her sit at the table. She is part of the help. Gabriel starts to tell her how important she is to the family when Nicolas comes in. He asks MA to have coffee with him. She is confused.

Karen asks Tiberio why it is so surprising that Demian is being nice to his son. Tiberio says that when JC was in Barcelona, they didn’t get along and now everything is changed. Karen suggests that since JC is Demian’s son, it is reasonable that would change his opinion when JC was with him. Tiberio says no, Demian never changes his opinion without a very good reason. Then Karen asks why the Demian/JC situation has Tiberio so upset and Tiberio confesses to her that Demian is playing with his future. Tiberio has invested too much time and effort to lose it all now. Karen advises him to lighten up and enjoy himself with her. They kiss.

Nicolas asks why Gabriel told him with such emphasis not to go out with MA. Gabriel doesn’t answer. When Nicolas encounters MA in the hall when he is leaving, he asks her out again and she accepts.

Karen and Tiberio tipsily exit the restaurant. Tiberio would like to continue the afternoon’s enjoyment with her but Karen says no. She is interested in someone else.

Gabriel notices that Diana was quiet at lunch. He gives her the opportunity to rat out her boorish husband but she won’t take it.

Continuing on his fatherly rounds, Gabriels chats up Pedro about his job as a freelance book editor and says he ought to go out and meet women.

Giorgio takes Joselyn to his love nest. [It looks like a third-rate motel.]

Rogelio sends Diana a valuable necklace. He calls her to see if she got the gift [and the message]. She tells him she cannot accept the necklace and by the way, she is going to tell his father everything and then leave the house. Rogelio gives her a line about how he has changed and is ashamed of what happened at the restaurant, etc. etc. I am sorry to say that Diana buys this pretty much. She agrees not to tell his father about what happened and to go out with Rogelio this evening. [Bad choice, Diana].

Luisito suggests that MA go with them to the doctor’s office. Gabriel is only too happy to agree. ‘What about mother?’ asks Luisito. ‘She is busy in Miriam’s fashion studio. We then see how busy she is – in bed with Giorgio.

At the doctor’s office, Luisito is examined and the doctor tells Gabriel that there is a good chance that Luisito will be able to walk again. L. hears this and there is much rejoicing.

Josleyn is having a post-coital talk with her wedding ring. She says that she has to find pleasure wherever and whenever she can find it. Giorgio overhears and says she seems to be a very liberal person. ‘Would she give her husband, the same opportunities she gives herself? ‘No,’ says Joselyn as the beasts snarl in the background, ‘how dare you ask me that? She then proceeds to tell Georgio that he is a nobody (our old friend, “Don Nadie”) and doesn’t merit a woman like her.

Rogelio talks tough to his buddies about the conditions he is imposing on his father concerning his job but his buddies mock him for still being dependant on his father. Rogelio’s cell phone rings. The guy he owes money to says that his wife’s performance last night was nice but it doesn’t satisfy his debt and he wants his money today (hoy mismo). Rogelio tries to get more time but the guy isn’t having any. ‘I want the money today and if you don’t pay, bad things will happen.’

Joselyn returns to work in a foul mood. She says that she is tired of playing the role of employee. Miriam asks if she is tired of working in the business or tired of Giorgio?

Rogelio takes Diana to a restaurant and tries to make nice. A horrible violinist plays for them.

Gabriel, Luisito and MA return from the doctor’s office all happy. Joselyn appears and asks where they have been.

JC comes to see his mother and she asks why he is so sad. ‘Is it because you broke up with Paulina?’ ‘No,’ says JC, ‘that was easy.’ He tells her that Demian offered him a job and explains why he couldn’t accept it. Regina says that he should reconsider. Nothing would make her happier than seeing them working side by side as father and son. ‘As father and son,’ repeats JC with heavy irony in his voice.

Mayeya, crying, tells Shorty about how her father paid for a guy to marry her and she had to leave her pueblo. She says she is happy in this neighborhood where everyone is nice to her and that is where the TiVo stopped recording but the rest will certainly open tomorrow’s episode.

La Fea Más Bella #132 10/25/06 They killed me…Moty incarnate and the Mystery of La Bolsa Roja solved….

Sort of a boring episode…...the most interesting things seemed even to be presented inconsequentially….but valuable as setting up the foundation of what is likely to become true revenge!!

Caro has managed to blackmail Lety into taking the ride home. I’m not sure strong arming is the way to make someone feel better but we’ll see. Lety doesn’t want to go back to her closet because she doesn’t want to go through his office and see his face…you have to….go get your things, If I go he’ll suspect something…Caro tells her to suck it up and just do it...let’s go.

Fernando calls for Lety, maybe to answer the phone for him? But, he ends up answering and it’s Marcia with her behavior report request from 5000 miles away. Lety goes to get her things, and we can tell Fern’s getting the usual fifth degree asking what he’s doing, of course he’s going home, he’ll wait for her call, Marcia you know I never tell lies….just as Lety walks through. That earns a disgusted roll of the eyes.

Lety punishes herself again and rereads part of “the” letter, this time with Omar’s evil voice over. Was the “ah ha ha” at the end actually written in? I didn’t hear her read it the first time. :)

Why does she torture herself over and over again!!!

Don Fe interrupts and she instantly hides the bane of her existence and puts on her best fake smile. He wants to take her home, but after la escapada he doesn’t want problems with Erasmo so they shouldn’t go anywhere, she should go home right away tonight…he has a surprise for her and wants them to be together tomorrow, though. He kisses her and she stops him, reminding him that someone might catch them, he says he’s become so used to kissing and petting her that he forgets people shouldn’t see them. A few more kisses and he’s gone. This is the best part…she’s so disgusted she actually wipes her lips of his kiss slime onto a towel and makes this exclamation. Someone talked recently about a phrase that no telenovela is complete without, and well if that was the first, then the 2nd most used is desgraciado! which means “rotten, wretched, son of a bitch”…I quote that… I swear it’s in my dictionary… Good for you Lety!!!!

Lola is crying about potentially losing her house to the husband-stealer and reminiscing about how hard her family worked for it. To rub salt on the wound, oh.. um to make her feel better…the kids enter with a surprise for their mother… They were with Gordolobo(?) Fat Wolf and I think they were mad at how long she was always at work so Fat Wolf was telling them how hard Lola works to take care of them, feed them, the usual, and so they decided they wanted to help her to show how much they are thankful for their parents' sacrifices etc. So, they made the house look beautiful and even … cleaned the walls. [Right before it gets taken away from them!!]

Yeah right….kids make pictures, maybe pick flowers…make pinch pots…never do they willingly clean anything in the house…oh and they never understand all their parents have done for them until they are at least 30….

On his way out, Fern notices Clarita- she is cleaning her back pack, isn’t he thoughtful, he fetches her the trash can (so she won’t mess up the office, likely) and notices she throws out his business card…and here it is….drum rolls please…..she tells him it came from la bolsa roja that they ate all the candy from and put the envelope in his briefcase. And there we have it. Just like that. Mystery solved. In 2 seconds of airtime. Don’t feel bad if you missed it.

St. Jude makes a cameo…he is going home with Lety. She is taking so long because she is packing all of her things she tells Caro; she doesn’t want to be here anymore. Caro questions if she is going to resign. Lety stops on the way past Fern desk to smugly say adios to the Mac (sort of).

Fern places a call to Omar the imbecile and tells him what happened with the envelope, thankful Lety didn’t see it. He hangs up on Omar too…Omar is on the sh** list today....flashback to the "Happiness is Lety" bar scene before la escapada.

Fern worries about Lety and misses her.

Another BMW (they must be a sponsor-maybe they even helped pay for the production to go to Germany) and Lety is having a panic attack to get out of Caro’s car nearly jumping out while it’s still moving. She just wants to be alone, but Carolina wants to help and she wants to know why Lety wants to leave Conceptos.
C-You have too much responsibility, the business depends on you… L- tough…get someone else and leave me alone…she wants to lock herself in her house for days…. C- Fern should know you are upset…what did he do to you?….speak to him about it…he offended you that much? There’s something more going on here…she asks. [She is suspicious…smart woman.] L -No it’s my fault. I just want to disappear from the world C- if Fern has nothing to do with this then why punish him? He’ll suffer the most…If your problem really has nothing to do with work then you can’t leave work.

Lola puts the kids to bed. PM asks Lola why she doesn’t get rid of her wedding pictures after all that’s happening…Lola doesn’t want to because of the kids but PM thinks the kids will think Cheque comes back someday as long as the pictures are still there. Lola takes the photo. She loves the photo…. screetch…. she hates the photo….will it end up in the trash?

Carolina talks more to Lety - She now degrades herself...if my parents knew that I really had no principios after all that I failed them and that I could end up betrayed by the man I love the most in the whole world….I think she means her father in reference to lying about where she goes all the time just to be with Fern....

Moty in the flesh….and now he is washed! Julieta is called the universal Mom…she adopted even Tomas…to this even Moty knows how to make a silly Lety smile…Is he wearing braces too? Kinda looks like it…. "Here comes the wolf that is going to eat you” referring to Robopop as he is heard questioning from the other room whether anyone is going to have dinner in this house today. Chauvinist! Fix yourself something!! (I know, calm down....)

C- Can you tell your family about your problems? L- Well, Dad has his issues, but he loves his family…I don’t tell them some things because then they’ll worry. C- Take a warm bath and relax. Now here's some words to live by…. C-Be careful of your first reaction to things. Our animal instinct makes us mad but then after we have our minds back, be careful you don’t regret your first impulse…Lety complains again she’s been murdered. Caro tells her in order to live fully you have to die many times. [Huh? How does that work? Maybe its more like face death many times, actually.] Lety thanks her for everything…and wants to walk alone the rest of the way to her house. Caro finally releases her, but knows something else is up….

Mom knows something is wrong too but Lety blames the flu. Papa teases about the early hour that Lety returns, is it a double? NO it’s her…Tomas calls her the living computer. Lety runs upstairs and her mom worries Tomas offended her. But he says, "why she’s the top of the line computer at least." Tomas goes to apologize at insistence of Papa…Tomas wonders what to say and is worried about having food when he gets back down… Moty whines……papa wants to know what that is. [Moty has been locked in the bathroom so Erasmo does not discover him. What if he needs to go?]

Tomas checks on Lety…he says he meant that she was a unique natural phenomenon worthy of being in a Circus…Lety, come on I’m playing with you…she just wants to be alone…if we end up in the circus you and I will travel in the same car, the Economist’s car, as Ugly Lety and Crazy Tomas…no Lety the genius and Tomas the abominable… Lety keeps crying… Tomas tries harder to make her feel better but she just sobs. Finally she throws him a bone…and what a bone it is… she starts by complaining of fatal blows, she says again…they killed me…

Mom downstairs also now suspects it’s more than Tomas’ chiding…Moty whines again (sounds like a human making dog sounds to me)… Julieta wants to go see what’s wrong with Lety… the parents go upstairs and Julieta sees Tomas with her and decides it’s best to let Tomas handle it…she’ll work it out with him… Robopop responds he’s certain it has something to do with Conceptos…that sinful place, she’s changed since she started there. Moty whines again…."He’s going to have to disturb someone else….I can’t stand dogs," Erasmo proclaims.

Lety starts to share….Tomas I did deserve what happened to me… I didn’t learn from my mistakes…Tell me Lety, I’m like your brother…I’m more, I’m your friend… L- I’m so stupid…I’m the fea of the Colonia and the same story repeated she tells him. Lety spills the beans!!! She tells Tomas of her saga with Fern, that he used her!!!!! Probably because of Tomas, he and Omar thought she was in love with Tomas. T-It’s because you told them I was your boyfriend….What do I have to do with this?

L – Omar and Fern are a pair of mentally ill guys- this 'complement' sounds much better in Spanish though. She tells him the whole story, that they were nervous with him because of FI. He can’t believe they’d think that he was going to rob them, no, she tells Tomas, they thought you would keep the whole business!!!!

Lety continues...One day he kissed me and gave me cards and gifts…..desgraciado…again!!!! I just don’t know men, I guess….

T- why didn’t you learn the first time… L- how could I imagine this classy guy would be capable of such awful things as those barrio rats (ok, I’m taking poetic license a little) when it actually turns out he’s worse… Tomas sort of confirms that she was kind of stupid to fall for him.

Julieta talks to Moty…I told you there would be a problem….he’ll kill me if he finds you.. so be quiet.

Erasmo thinks it must be the neighbors and wants to go yell at them and Julieta tells him to stop, that it’s rude to go over there so late and he asks why she’s worried about their peace when they aren’t worried about ours...no wait the dog is inside… she says it just sounds close and is probably from a particular neighbor. Erasmo agrees and storms out the door to go yell at them. Julieta is powerless...

We go back to Lety and Tomas and she talks about how this all was like a film, and get this..instead of Mexican or even Latin leading men...she compares her situation with Fern to George Clooney or Brad PEEET....I love the way she says that...wonder if these guys know they made it into this show...!

Turns out Tomas saves his revenge speech for the next episode, mostly he just questions how she could think he'd have a chance with a guy like Fern. See Amanda's recap after this and she covers it all....

We still know revenge and a great opportunity for funny happenings are on the way...and I agree, Lety's plot will probably be much more interesting than Omar's!!!!!

Thanks all!

LFMB in Russia

You can play on YouTube all day, looking at this stuff. There's no shortage of videos from Yo Soy Betty La Fea and its spinoffs, but if you don't know what words to search on, finding them can be tough. Apparently, the magic search terms for finding the Russian videos are "ne rodis krasivoy" and "Betty la Fea rusa". Here are a few treasures:
  • Their first kiss. They're at a bar, but it's no Megatron.
  • Katya/Lety/Betty faints. I don't know why. I don't think this happened in the Mexican version. Not sure about the Colombian one.
  • Andrei/Fernando/Armando has just finished paying up on a lost bet. Red is not his best color.

Heridas - Tuesday October 24

Alejandro and Miranda are STILL making love and Ricardo Montaner is STILL singing with gusto. Miranda tells Alejandro she has never met a man as romantic and passionate as he. He became a part of her the moment they met and now he is everything to her. He says nice stuff to her too.

The following morning brings us beautiful panoramas of Los Cabos, Baja California. Al's in his cute red shorts when "Dormilona" (sleepyhead) Miranda joins him. She says it's the best day of her life. Everything is a different color and texture. They are Baja's beautiful couple. She says she's dying of hunger and Alejandro says, "Finally, you're mine, all mine." Then he kisses her and tells her it's better than breakfast.

Renata, in her bathrobe, visits Dr. Fernanda and brings her a cup of orange juice. She warns the oranges were a little sour. Fernanda gets all emotional and breathy and says because Renata brought it the juice will be sweeeet, very sweeeet. Renata gets the "HUH?" look and asks Fern if she's feeling ill. After Renata leaves Juan arrives and Fernanda tells him all about the fabulous sour juice that Renata brought, the juice clearly being a metaphor for the intuitive and undeniable love that an abandoned daughter must feel for her mother. Juan's big moment...he tries to smile and tells Fernanda she will recoup her daughter.

Back in Baja we get more great scenery. Miranda wonders if Bertha has returned yet. Honey, you just got married and you should NOT be thinking about your wicked aunt! Al worries about Daira and Lasagna. These two are hopeless. Alejandro tells Miranda he has something to tell her; they need to talk. She refuses, saying they are in paradise and she only wants to think about them. Then she says she's hungry. Al, let that girl eat!!!

Bertha is in her room with a bouquet of treacherous looking thistles. Guess she still has Lucas because she tells Charo that Lucas is arriving soon, no doubt to resume his reign of good-natured terror. When Bertha asks, Charo confirms that Miranda and Alejandro looked for the portfolio. Bertha smirks because the location of the money is still up in the air.

Gonzalo enters and tells Charo to leave. Bertha asks, "Aren't you afraid to be alone with a woman like me?" Gonzo tells her he doesn't fear her, he pities her. She tries to slap him but he pushes her down. They glare at each other with malice.

Lots of sexy love-in-the-sun scenes with Alejandro and Miranda...in the pool, on the beach, on
the rocks, laughing and hugging, splashing and swimming, Al plays shark and chases her. Blessed relief, this is a scene with no talking!!

Gonzolo asks Bertha why she played stupid when she knew Flor's disease was hereditary. He says a Dr. Escalante told him that Flor wasn't responding to her treatment. Why didn't Bertha tell him? She says it was because he ignored his daughters and the task of caring for them went to her. She became a slave to Florencia, but it was Tomasa who was in charge of Flor's meds. Gonza doesn't believe her, but speaking of that, what did Bertha do with the granddaughter that she stole from Tomasa? Bertha says Tomasa got depressed after her sons' deaths and lost her own granddaughter, who knows where? She tells Gonzo he has become an expert at accusing half the world without verifying anything. After Gonzo leaves she calls El Guapo and tells him to burn the cacao fields and don't leave anything standing. She smirks and mutters, "Your wedding gift, my dear Miranda."

More Baja scenery with Al and Miranda taking a tour on a small boat. They are on the bow and are kings of the world. Later that afternoon Miranda is wearing a hot pink halter outfit. She asks Alejandro what he expects in her as a wife. Shouldn't they have had this conversation earlier? Like BEFORE the wedding? Al says he wants a lover, a companion, a friend and above all an accomplice because they're going to do many crazy things. Miranda tells him that she wants a companion, an equal, someone who will put up with her crazy ideas, who will let her be wrong, who will accept her impulses and help her realize her dreams. Good thing she married a millionaire.

Juan is examining a pale and wheezy Florencia. She's sleepy. He tells her no more exercise as it's not good for the baby. She says she knows what's going on, the chances of her baby being born have reduced considerably, right? He admits yes, the chances of coming to term have diminished but she must be stronger than ever.

Daniel comes to Carola's apartment, not to visit Carola but to talk to Raul. He needs Raul's help because he loves Carola and wants to marry her. "Help me Raul, or I'll to go crazy." Raul nods.

Alejandro and Miranda have gone for a swim fully clothed, those crazy kids. Then they roll in the sand. I'll bet the actors loved that scene. Miranda starts the absolute stupidest conversation known to human kind..."Have you had many girlfriends?" Al says yeah, but he doesn't remember any of them. (Good answer! Lie like a rug!!) But Miranda's like a terrier with a rat, "Name one." (Dude, DO NOT go there.) "I had a dear friend called...I don't remember, she was a lawyer from a political family." (Uh Oh.) "But truthfully, I don't remember her name." (Dohhh!) "You just don't want to tell me," Miranda coaxes, "Remember!" "Oh yeah, her name was Carla." "Carla what? Tell me." (No Alejandro, DO NOT TELL HER.) "Carla Aranda, but she was nothing more than a...er...Very Good Friend." "How good? How good? Hey, why are you running away?" Run Alejandro, run!! But she catches him, he swings her around and they kiss. This will, of course, come back to bite him in the butt big time.

Francisco and Amparo are enjoying a cup of coffee when Ramon walks into their apartment. What happened to knocking? Francisco says he told Ramon to stay out of his house. Ramon asks Amparo did she talk to Francisco yet about what they discussed. Amparo gets all tongue-tied and blabbers incoherently. Francisco demands, "Talk about what?" Ramon tells Amparo that if he goes away she will never see him return. She'd better think hard about this. She wrings her hands and whimpers.

Back in Baja Miranda is in yet another outfit, this one very 60's. They plan to go yachting and whale watching. Mirands says when she recuperates financially she's going to invite him to travel north. He says he'll follow her anywhere. She says she has some business ideas pertaining to their chocolate (which is of course burning up as we speak). She wants to get into the candy and export business.

Oh dear, Alejandro's phone rings. It's Gabino calling to say the plantation and all the harvester houses have burned up into cocoa krispies. Alejandro and Miranda must return to Tabasco immediately.

Florencia is having a green, sweaty nightmare of the night her mama left. Her heart moniter speeds up and out of control as she remembers her mama sobbing. Fernanda rushes in, "Hija, hija!!" The flashback little girl Florencia is begging "Mama, don't leave me!" Present grownup Flor opens her eyes, looks at Fernanda and whispers, "I know who you are...mama." Fernanda is impactada and Flor goes into cardiac arrest. They get a faint heartbeat and Fern wants to inject Flor with adrenaline. Juan talks her out of it because it would kill the baby.

Arcadia, with Nati in Villahermosa, is talking to Miranda on the phone. Miranda wants to make sure that nobody was hurt. Arcadia comments to Nati that Miranda is a good boss because she cares more about the people than the crops. Spaced-out Nati says "That's good, because she's the heiress. The heiress of the cocolbosh." (Oh gawd, here we go again.) "I'll tell you a secret, the chocolate will save Miranda. It's true. When she finds the cocolbosh within her it will lead her to happiness." In the meantime Nati will make chocolate for everybody. Maybe chocolate is the word for peyote in her secret language.

Miranda and Alejandro arrive home. Fabricio calls to tell them about Florencia but she's in ICU and can't have visitors. A knock on the door; it's Charo. She tells them that Bertha arrived home just after they left for their honeymoon. For some reason Alejandro and Miranda are impactados.

Daniel tells Raul that he used to go out with other girls but when he met Carola he could only stand to be with her. Raul is Daniel's mini-psychologist..."And those other women you tried, were they prostitutes?" Daniel is insulted, "No, how could you think that? I only went out with women of my own class." Carola was his first prostitue. Suddenly a light bulb goes on over Daniel's head. He was talking to his analyst about this very subject but now all of a sudden he gets it...the crap relationship between his father and mother was always conveyed in terms of money. Love equals money. If he wants to feel good then clearly he has to pay. Raul recommends he get back to his analyst, pronto. But Daniel is on a mission, or maybe he's miraculously cured, "I've just seen Carola in a completely new light. Tell her I'll come back later. I have something to do." Raul is fascinated by Daniel's psychological epiphany. If he wants to be a shrink he's living in the right place.

There is a knock on Raul's door. It's Blender-Head (Erika) and she's brought Raul a piece of cake and wants to invite him out for a coffee. Raul kisses her.

Bertha arrives at the hospital where Fabricio is praying for his wife. Bertha slaps him and calls him stupid. She demands to know how long he's knows Alejandro and Florencia are siblings. He wants to know why she killed Florencia's doctors. She denies knowledge of this but he insists he knows she did it. Bertha says she's glad he thinks she's capable because this is no game. She threatens Florencia, his mother, and all he holds dear. (I think.) She says if he's really known the truth then that makes him an accomplice. Fabricio tells her not to make threats. Bertha tells him he only needs to understand one thing, "I don't threaten, I promise!"

Note to all: I will be out of town next week but Nora is recapping for me.

La Fea Más Bella #131 10/24/06 No Puede Ser!

Luigi is in his office with Carolina. His phone rings. It’s Yuri. She’s worried about the event Luigi agreed to help with. Luigi says there’s nothing to worry about. He came back from Germany just for her! He makes plans to meet with her and hangs up. As Carolina begins to ask about The Zoom Proposal that Lety is supposed to bring down to them. Luigi’s phone rings again. It’s Ricky Armstrong. Luigi says of course everything is great; He came back from Germany just for him! Luigi says Fernando already has The Proposal that they need. Carolina gives up on Luigi and says she’s going to go look for Lety. Before Luigi can protest, his phone rings again. Luigi is very frustrated with the phone calls, but I think it’s actually from wearing that big fluffy faux fur jacket that he’s sporting today. It’s Fern on the phone. Luigi calls him a lizard because The Proposal has not been delivered to him yet. “Geez! Do I have to everything around here?“

Lety is in her office sobbing. “No Puede Ser!” She reads another of the cards that Omar wrote on Fernando’s behalf. She clenches her teeth as she reads Fernando’s signed name. She hears Carolina call from Fern’s office. Lety pretends to work at her computer as Caro walks in and asks for The Proposal. She sees Lety’s miserable state and asks if Lety is okay. Lety says she’s fine, it’s just a cold. Caro must think Lety looks really bad, because she warns Lety about Tuberculosis. Lety says she has not had time to get The Proposal. Caro says she’ll come back later and leaves. Lety thinks back to a better time when she shared a warm hug with Fern. She snaps out of it and thinks, “This can’t be. It must be a misunderstanding or one of Omar’s jokes.”

Lety walks out of the office. Sarah bumps into her but Lety is in no mood to talk. Sarah asks what’s wrong. Before Sarah can get anything out of her, Lety walks away. The cuartel wonders what happened to Lety.

Fernando walks to PM’s desk, where Saimon is busy sweet-talking PM and kissing her hand. Fern sneaks his hand over PM’s and Saimon jumps when he realizes he’s kissing Fern’s hand! Saimon asks about the package that Lety asked him to mail to Fern’s parents, who are over in England with the queen Chabelita (that’s a cutsey nickname for Elizebeth). Fern agrees with me that it’s a cutsey nickname. He smiles smugly and says the package is ready to go. …Fern’s parents were beside themselves waiting for the package to arrive before the weekend; by now they must be ready to throw themselves into the Thames River from desperation! It hasn’t even been mailed yet!

Lety goes to the copy center. I know this because there is a big sign over the copy machines that says “Copy Center.” I guess the producers did not expect their audience to know a lot about the inside of office buildings. Anyway, Lety continues to sob as she makes a copy of The Letter and stuffs it into a big yellow envelope, exactly like the original was.

Fernando asks Alicia where Lety is. He’s upset because she hasn’t delivered The Proposal to Luigi, “Where is Lety? I’m going to kill her!” Alicia, who likes Fern’s plan, says “Oh, yes, please do!” Fern goes to his office as Lety walks back from the copy center. Alicia harasses Lety about slacking off. Lety does not play into her insults. The look on Lety’s face is intense! Sarah warns Lety that Fern is looking for her. In true woman-scorned mode, Lety asks “Oh really, and just what did Mr. Fernando say?”

Fernando adds the postal code to package for his parents and gives it to Saimon (What’s the postal code for the bottom of the Thames River?).

Lety places The Letter back into Fernando’s briefcase. She goes into her office and sees that the white rose that Fernando gave her that very same morning has died. She is distraught and blames herself for not putting water in its vase.

Fernando is in the restroom, daydreaming. He remembers Lety’s delight when he gave her the rose. Then he remembers Marcia’s delight at the engagement ring. He compares how Lety was just as happy with the simple rose. He’s worried about how Lety will feel when she learns about Marcia’s ring. He wonders how he will be able to make Lety understand that he is not happy about the whole situation either.

Lety asks St Jude for help figuring out the truth about The Letter. She recalls the psychic who told her The Letter holds the truth.

Fernando calls Lety into his office. He can tell something is off with her, but can’t quite figure it out. Lety pretends nothing is wrong. Luigi Calls Fern and they talk business. The Proposal… blah blah… Footage from Germany has been loaded on the server… blah blah blah… Fern hangs up and asks Lety about The Proposal. Lety says she forgot to deliver it. Fern assumes it’s because Luigi is such an as… um, such a diva, that he’s difficult to work with. He understands and lets it go. Lety is trying her best but she does not look convincing. Lucky for her, Fern is easily distracted; he’s looking at Luigi’s footage from Germany on his computer.

Back in her office, Lety is talking to St J again. They have become BFFs. She asks St J to please let this all be a mistake.

Carolina comes back and talks business with Fernando … The Cannes awards… blah blah…The Proposal… yaddah yaddah… Caro calls for Lety and tells her they need to set up time to discuss the financing for one of the projects. Lety agrees.

Lety asks St J for a miracle. St J is getting a lot of screen time. I think he’s gonna have to be added to the credits at the beginning of the show.

Lola calls Efren after being served with some legal papers regarding a Liquidation of Goods. She is furious and wants to know what goods it’s referring to. The only common good that resulted from their marriage is the car. (As you recall, Jasmin has been pushing Efren to get half of Lola’s house, even though she inherited it from her side of the family.) Efren does not have the guts to answer her and says the lawyers can explain it much better than he can. As they speak, Jasmin calls Efren on his cell phone, so now he has Jasmin on his cell in one ear, and Lola on the desk phone in the other ear. He calls Jasmin “mi amor” and Lola thinks he’s talking to her. She seems to sort of like it. He tells Jasmin he’s coming over to Conceptos, and Lola thinks Efren is still talking to her. Just then, Jasmin walks into the office and Lola sees that Jasmin is on the phone, and realizes she is talking to Efren as well. Lola’s blood boils!

Fernando is on the phone with Luigi when his other line rings. Lety picks it up in her office. It’s Omar. Lety hangs up on him!

Lola tells Efren that he better be talking about liquidating the car, or else!

Omar calls back. Lety claims that the last call got cut off. She transfers him to Fernando’s line and then goes to her door to listen.

Fernando is talking to Omar when he opens his briefcase and finds The Letter. “Holy crap, I found your letter, you imbecile!” Omar says that’s good news and wonders if anybody has opened it. Fernando is sure no one has opened it because it’s sealed and stapled shut. Omar instructs Fern to read The Letter and destroy then it, but to follow the instructions exactly. Fern insults Omar for being stupid enough to leave something so dangerous just lying around! “If Lety would have found it…” Lety is appalled. After he hangs up, Fern reads about half a sentence of The Letter and begins to tear it up. He thinks “Yes, it’s true. It all started with that damn embargo business, but I continued it of my own free will. Now I love to be around her, to make love to her, she lights up my soul!” That’s all well and good, but he is not thinking out loud, he is thought bubbling, and Lety, who is listening and crying on the other side of his door, can not hear his thought bubbles.

Lola is trying to reach through the phone line to strangle Efren. Jasmin is also still on the phone with Efren. She stands in front of Lola and baby-talks to Efren. Efren goes back and forth baby-talking with Jasmin, and then arguing with Lola. They end the weird 3-way call so that Lola and Jasmin can insult each other directly. Martha reminds Lola to take it easy, since the last big run-in with Jasmin almost got her fired.

Everyone is on the phone today. Marcia and Alicia are chatting about Marcia’s engagement ring. Marcia is ecstatic and wants to tell her all about Fernando’s card. Alicia the wet blanket interrupts to tell Marcia that it seems very suspicious. Marcia doesn’t care about the other woman because the ring proves that he is going to marry her.

Carolina is back in Fernando’s office. More business talk… She negotiated a lower rate on something… Fernando has The Proposal for her. He double checks to make sure it’s the right envelope before giving it to her. He asks her to take some paperwork to Lety. Lety is busy breaking things in her office when Caro walks in. She notices that Lety is in a cold sweat. She knows something is wrong but Lety just wants to be left alone. Caro convinces Lety to go to the restroom. They walk together through Fernando’s office. He is – as men can be – oblivious. Carol leaves Lety in the restroom to go find some tea.

Julieta and Tomas are walking home to make dinner when they find a wounded doggie whimpering on the street. Julieta says they must take the doggie home because he’s hurt. Tomas is not loving the idea of sharing the leftovers. “Oh Yeah? And what do you think Erasmo will think about this?”

Lety can’t believe that “they” betrayed her. Then she thinks that maybe she deserves to be betrayed. After all, she betrayed Marcia. Just then the cuartel walks in. They try to help but she wants to be alone. They say they can’t leave her alone in this state. Irmita wonders what Don Fernando the Tyrant did this time to upset her so badly. Caro comes back in with the tea. She convinces the cuartel that it is better to let Lety be, and that Caro will stay to take care of her. After they leave, the floodgates break and Lety really lets loose. Carolina hugs Lety and tells her to cry all she wants. Carolina is like the kindest, sweetest, most fashion-forward fairy godmother I could ever hope for!

As the cuartel leaves the office, they wonder what could be wrong with Lety. Alicia overhears them and heads straight to the restroom to see for herself. She begins to taunt Lety. Caro cuts her off. Alicia says she’s just worried and wants to know what happened. Lety steps in and says Alicia will never know what happened. She calls Alicia a vulture who feeds off of carcasses on the side of the highway. Alicia is offended and looks to Caro for help. Caro tells Alicia she asked for it and kicks her out.

Julieta and Tomas have brought the doggie home. They realize that the little guy looks just like Moty, the mascot on all of Lety's stuff. They deem that it must be fate, and they name it Moty.

Lety says she is done crying and wants to go home. Carolina insists on taking Lety home. Lety doesn't want to impose, but Caro says it's either that or she will have to tell Fernando what's going on. Caro wins.

HERIDAS DE AMOR - Monday, 10/23/06

In Gonzalo’s office Juan is angrily about to leave with his family but Renata yells for him to stop. Renata had hesitated for just a moment before telling her father that she loved Juan and that she will follow him wherever he goes. She asks her father's forgiveness but wants Gonzalo to understand that she married for love and not just to defy him as he thinks. Gonzalo tells her that she should remember he is her father and this is her house (but he is rudely ignoring Juan in all of this). He then just turns and walks out on the two of them. Renata tells Juan she loves him and her place is with him now and his family.

Daniel has just asked Cesar why he told him and Angel that Julio was faking his heart attack. Cesar is thinking fast and trying to explain his way out of the corner Daniel’s question has trapped him in. (Finally Dannyboy is using his noggin' for something besides collecting dust.) Cesar gives a really lame explanation why he told Julio’s sons that Julio was just faking it and that everyone knew it. Supposedly, he just figured it was all a trick (heh-heh) considering (heh-heh) what had happened with Gonzalo and the jail and the business and all (heh-heh). In the end Angel says what’s past is past and he just doesn’t care. Cesar agrees and then shuts Daniel up by offering to take them into the new business and teach them everything he and Julio know.

Fabricio apologizes to Alejandro for his actions earlier during the wedding reception. Alejandro accepts and explains to him that he had bought the Manglars specifically to keep Cesar from selling it to an outsider and that it was immediately put in Florencia and Fabricio’s name. Fab really feels like a jerk then, and he lets it slip that Cesar had suggested something else entirely. Alejandro realizes then that it was Cesar who’d told Fabricio about his plans for taking vengeance on Gonzalo and other twisted tales. Fabricio admits that it was Cesar. They both wonder who could have told everything in such detail to Cesar though. Alejandro then says that he has no choice but to explain things fully to Miranda but they agree it will be best after they return from the honeymoon.

Alejandro and Miranda leave on their honeymoon for Los Cabos and the parents-in-law are left to chat amongst themselves. Fernanda is about to take advantage of Daira’s presence to have the courage to finally tell Gonzo who the man was that he found her with that night long ago, but just then Bertha swoops in on her broomstick and tells them to call in Alejandro and Miranda as she has something for them all to hear. (Every time Bertha appears in a scene I feel like somebody has let all the air out of my tires.) Fernanda and Daira try to tell her that they aren’t there, and she rudely says that she’ll just wait till they return. Daira replies that she’ll be waiting a rather long time since they just left on their honeymoon. Bertha is stunned (she starts with that brow rubbing and sweating thing) and accuses Daira and Fernanda of joking but Fernanda and Gonzo say they in fact got married earlier in the day and just left a few minutes before. Bertha is choking back her anger and swigging down her whiskey and soda. She threatens Daira about she and her daughter having to live the rest of their lives on the on the street now. (Somebody slap that witch, already!) Daira shoots back not to be so sure of that since there was a special surprise for her: a clause in those documents she took from them that could void any of her false claims. Bertha says “could” is the operative verb here. She then asks if they just got married on purpose then (because of the clause), but Daira says, "NO!". It was because of their deep love for one another. Gonzo has had enough and tells Bertha to just pack it up and leave. She says no and if they try to force her she’ll tell Florencia the truth even if it means Flo dies from the news. Afterward, Bertha lays the blame of all the nasty things that have happened to the family on Fernanda’s shoulders, then snidely taunts Fernanda about finally ‘fessing up about the man she was going to flee with that night, and who Florencia’s father really is. Fernanda backs off and, when Bertha leaves the room, agrees with Gonzo later that Bertha still has the upper hand.

Francisco complains to his sister about how arrogantly Gonzalo acted concerning Juan and Renata’s marriage. He felt the man treated them like servants. He yells that his is a close family and that is something that Gonzalo, who acts like he owns the whole world, does not have. At the same time, Renata is telling Juan her father is who he is and won’t change. She admits also that she had been tempted for a while to return and to try to convince him to go with her because they’d have no worries about food and rent. They could save to buy him some nice things and she could also teach him some useful things that would help him enter into important social circles. He gripes about being a "kept man" but she finally gets him to see things from her point of view.

Fabricio goes to visit his mother and lets her know that Cesar told him by cell what had happened concerning Julio being their real father. Rebeca whines that she was made to feel like a criminal for having kept the secret about Julio all these years. Fabricio says she’s suffered enough and it doesn’t matter anymore. He explains about the Manglars still being theirs and she is thrilled. "Bless Alejandro!" Fab asks her not to tell Cesar what she's learned about the Manglars. She obviously thinks it won't matter telling Cesar, but Fab emphasizes he doesn't want her to mention it at all. He then suggests she and Julio go there for a few days away and he leaves for the hospital. Julio comes out a bit later, angry and with his bag packed. He says he’s leaving her for good and not to come looking for him again. He goes back to his own place.

Daniel visits Carola and Raul. He tells them the news about Fabricio and Cesar being his and Angel’s brothers and that it was Cesar who’d lied about their father’s heart attack and who convinced them that to sue Gonzalo and send him to jail. He has no problem with Fabricio, but he considers Cesar a lying coward. He says he is going to tell Gonzalo everything Cesar had asked them to do against him. (You go, boy!)

Fernanda must return to the hospital to check on Florencia because her blood pressure has gone back up, so she promises to answer all Gonzalo's questions next time they get together. Daira wants to be there then too and explains that even though he might not believe it, she also was a victim of what took place that night, but the one who really owes him an explanation is Bertha.

Fernanda and Florencia are comparing the two weddings when Bertha swoops into the hospital room, even though it is after visiting hours are over. She glides right over to Florencia and kisses her forehead, lying about her coming just as soon as she heard Flo was sick. Then she purposely turns to Fernanda with that evil, self-satisfied smile of hers. Fernanda just glares at her.

Gonzalo later on goes looking for Bertha and is banging on her bedroom door. (Where's Lucas these days?) Charo sees Gonzo and explains Bertha left for the hospital to see Florencia. Gonzalo tells Charo to keep track of everything Bertha does from now on. (It's about time!) He walks off and Charo calls up to Tomasa in heaven to have them send her an army of angels as now the Devil has come back.

When Florencia is again asleep Bertha warns Fernanda to be careful how she speaks to her because she won’t hesitate to kill Florencia. Fernanda answers the same way she didn’t shudder at shooting Alfredo. At first Bertha denies knowing what Fernanda is referring to, and insists she’s just gone crazy, but Fernanda continues that she knows Bertha brought Alfredo there that night, and wasn't it too bad that Bertha wasn’t counting on Gonzalo’s reaction. Bertha then stops lying and smiles evilly again as she answers back that the one she had aimed to shoot that night was really Fernanda.

Miranda and Alejandro check into the resort at Los Cabos and he says he’s giving her a church wedding fit for a queen.

Juan tells his father and aunt that he’s going to let Renata return home if she wants. It is not his decision. Amparo gets frustrated and gets the wad of money that Renata gave her the day the taco sales had been so meager. She explains that this is proof that Renata feels a part of the family and had true concern for their welfare. She explains that Renata isn’t interested in money because she’s had more than enough, but what she’s never had is the love and affection she feels from them. Francisco urges Juan to go to Renata and to not let his wife leave them. (Yeah, Juan, you self-righteous twirp!) Renata hears all this from the bedroom doorway and she runs back into the room and tries to pretend she’s asleep. Juan knows better and they begin to discuss the problem. She asks him to help her keep from losing her nerve and running back home. Juan promises to be there to support her always. (...and please allow her to do the same for you. It's a two-way street, ya know? This guy is such a male chauvinist and it grates on me......)

At the hospital Fernanda asks Bertha how she can be so shameless. (By now you'd think a doctor could have spotted sociopathic and/or psychopathic tendencies and been more proactive about it.) Bertha admits she’s always despised Fernanda and hates her to her very core. She says she came back to make her and Miranda suffer even more. She is going to make the two of them pay for having taken away everyone she has loved (presumably Alfredo and Alejandro?). Fernanda finally gets to rub it in that Miranda is happily married (and it's to Alejandro! Yessss!!!) Bertha threatens to harm her daughters and to make their suffering unbearably painful. Fernanda threatens to stop her but Bertha laughs and says she won’t be able to avoid it. Fernanda says Bertha has no idea what she is capable of if it comes to protecting her 3 daughters. Bertha tells her these aren’t idle threats but promises and Fernanda and her daughters will pay for having crossed her. Then she gives another feigned affectionate kiss to the sleeping Florencia to emphasize no one, especially her daughter, would believe any of Fernanda’s claims against her and glides back out on that broomstick of hers.

Miranda and Alejandro finally consummate their vows and we get to feel like voyeurs with all that glass and not a single shade!
