Zorro, Tues. May 1 – A Whole Lot of Talking and No Action

Mangle tells Montero that she is preggers. ‘So what,’ he says. ‘It’s yours,’ replies Mangle and she tells him that she and Diego have never been intimate. Drugging Diego and claiming that they were together was just a trick to get him to marry her. Montero says that the baby is her problem. She can’t go around saying it is Pizarro’s or everyone will know what she is – a slut (mujerzuela). Mangle’s anger gets Montero excited and he grabs her.

Pizarro tells Esme that Diego cares nothing about her or her baby. She is unhappy but Renzo and Dolores urge her not to despair. Esme tells Pizarro that Montero came to her cell and showed her a paper that said that the house where the gitanos hid after they rescued SK is owned by Diego. He will use it to implicate Diego in the escape even though he didn’t have anything to do with it.

Pizarro says that the situation is very delicate especially since Zorro helped the gypsies in the rescue. Pizarro says that while SK is alive, he can protect her and expose Montero’s treachery to the royal family. ‘What should we do?’ asks Esme. Pizarro responds that they have to wait for Alej to come in on their side. If he doesn’t decide soon, Esme, you are as good as dead.

Some guys who worked for FS come to join with Alej. They tell Alej that FS has left the city and Montero has taken all his power and is trying to kill them. Alej lets them join his little army but when they leave, he tells his henchman, Rafael, to keep an eye on the new guys. They need all the warm bodies they can get. Dangerous times are a comin’.

Diego is having flashbacks looking at his medallion. He sees Esmeralda’s medallion.

Esme takes comfort in the fact that Diego is ok. She suggests that he was feigning indifference to fool Montero and is, even now, planning their escape.

Mangle and Montero have a post boincking chat. Montero tells Mangle to claim that her baby is Diego’s. Mangle is concerned that the matter is not that simple. She tells Montero that he has the same problem. What will people says when Esme has a baby that isn’t his. Montero tells Mangle that Esme is locked up in the prison and she is going to have an ‘accident.’ Montero tells Mangle to enjoy her good fortune – it won’t last long.

Esme is chipping away at the stones of her cell when she experiences abdominal pains. She claims it is nothing. Everything will be fine. When Alej attacks Montero, Pizarro will set them free. Renzo reminds her that Olmos betrayed the plan to free SK; Pizarro might do the same. Esme has confidence that betraying them would not be to Pizarro’s advantage. Still, they have to be vigilant in protecting SK.

Aaron and FS come upon a group of Indians and ask for food and water. FS doesn’t want to approach them. A woman brings some food to Aaron. He passes it to FS who has a flashback to killing Regina. He throws the food at the woman and runs back into the woods followed by Aaron.

MP is back at the internado. NN is visiting her and says that she has heard the news that MP will their Mother Superior. MP tells NN that she knows she was against this. NN says no, that was the old NN. Now she will be a perfect servant to MP. Just then, Sister Carola comes in and says that Camba has returned. NN goes outside and tells him that she is so glad that he is ok. Carola says that PT has said that it is ok for Camba to stay with them. All the sisters are standing there looking at Camba with silly grins. [PT is ok with letting a big, handsome, half-naked guy stay with a bunch of nun wannabees on probation. Not that there is any historical accuracy here, but in this time period, men did not believe that women could control their sexual desire. Nuns were usually cloistered and not allowed to see any man except a priest.]

Montero asks Pizarro if he has retaken Alej’s hacienda. He says, ‘no, it was too well fortified.’ Montero says that lately Pizarro hasn’t been able to complete any of the orders he has been given. He tells Pizarro that he isn’t commandante material. Pizarro has a flashback to being a little kid breathing heavily and being told by somebody that he will never amount to anything because he is a mestizo (mixed Spanish and Indian) and worse, he is sick. Back to the present and Montero is telling Pizarro the same thing (except the part about being sick) – he is a second rater, a good for nothing. Montero orders Pizarro to take his men and attack Alej’s hacienda this evening and take no prisoners. Montero orders Pizarro to kill Alej and all his men. Alone in the hall, Pizarro is apparently having an asthma attack. He vows that he is not a second rater and that no one is stronger than him.

At the hacienda, military preparations are suggested by men are running around the courtyard with torches. Meanwhile the de la Vegas: Mangle, Diego, Alej and Almudena sit down to a nice formal dinner [are they in the same hacienda?] Alej asks where Yumalai is but the maid doesn’t know. Alej goes to find her. He finds her war paint and realizes that she is gone. ‘What war is she fighting?’ he asks, ‘against whom and with whom.’ Cut to a scene of Yuma slinking around the prison.

Back at dinner, Alej reports to the family that Yumalai has left with he knife and in her war paint. Alumdena is concerned and Mangle is dismissive and nasty. Diego asks what caused this ‘agression’ on Montero’ part. ‘It’s political and concerns the Crown’ says Alej. He tells them that years ago, the family in the direct line of succession to the Spanish Crown was eliminated. There was a survivor, however, whose daughter just escaped from the prison. By rights, she should be Queen. The maid announces that Sgt. Garcia is outside.

Pizarro tells Esme that he has been ordered to massacre everyone in the de la Vega hacienda. She is impactada. Pizarro says that he has sent Sgt. Garcia to warn Alej. Pizarro asks Esme is she will trust him now. Montero is a raging beast. Pizarro’s neck is on the line too. Esme must obey him without question.

Olmos is shopping for real estate. He wants an isolated house where he can be alone with his love – Mangle.

At the hacienda, Alej tells everyone that he has sent Sgt. Garcia back to Pizarro with the message that he will attack the prison tonight. Alej has to trust Pizarro although he doubts his honesty. When Alej and his men attack the prison, Pizarro will free Esme and Dolores. ‘Esmeralda?’ says Diego, obviously remembering the name. Mangle interrupts to say that Alej’s plan is great. Alej goes back to the ‘political problem.’ He says that if the woman freed from the prison is the rightful Queen of Spain, it is his duty to protect her and get her back to Spain. ‘The Queen…,’ says Mangle in a wondering tone. Diego asks to help with the fighting but his father says that he has been educated for the arts of peace once the war is over.

Yumalai has snuck into the prison and is going to attack the two guards. She overhears them talking about Montero and Esme and concludes that Esme is alive.

Aaron asks FS why he reacted so strongly to some humble Indians. FS says that he has killed a lot of Indians. ‘But you had your reasons. They killed your family.’ Aaron asks FS to tell him what happened. FS recaps the murder. Aaron tells him that he needs to forgive the Indians so he can find peace in his soul.

PT tells MP about what is happening in the town. She is concerned about FS. PT tells her that the whole situation with Montero is because FS’s wife escaped from the Callao prison. MP is impactada.

The gypsies have found a place to shelter and rest. They discuss SK returning to Spain. SK says that she doesn’t want the crown for herself but to help her friends. ‘Don’t you have a lot enemies in Spain?’ asks Laisha. ‘Yes,’ says SK, ‘but I also have a lot of friends and supporters.’ The only person she is really fears says SK is Duke Jacob.

In Spain, the evil Duke tells the Queen that they captured the King’s assassin but unfortunately he died before he could reveal who was behind the plot. The Queen is upset and the Duke suggests that she rest. When she is gone, he gives a letter to a servant telling him [and us] that it is an order to execute the Marquesa. She was a big supporter of the King in America. ‘Crush the head and the tentacles must die too,’ says the Duke.

Sgt. Garcia reports to Pizarro that Alej has agreed to the plan to attack the prison. Pizarro sends Garcia back to the hacienda with instructions to have Alej attack the northern part of the prison. Garcia is still suspicious of Pizarro’s good faith. Garcia asks him about the prisoners. Pizarro says that he will take care of them. Once Garcia is gone, Pizarro says that he will take care of the prisoners – in due time. His words and expression do not inspire confidence.

The guards come to take Esme and Dolores to another cell. They are going to leave Renzo but Esme says that she isn’t moving without Renzo and the guards seem to be taken aback. [They can’t just pick her up or drag her along? They might have trouble picking up Dolores.]

Alej explains his plan to his subordinates. He says that since he has the advantage of surprise, the fact that he has fewer troops than Montero doesn’t matter. He orders two men to watch the prison and Montero’s house and report anything strange. Bernardo wants to participate but Alej says he has a more important mission – to protect the women in the hacienda, which will be left completely unguarded. The whole purpose of the attack on the prison is to provide a diversion so that Pizarro can free Esme & Dolores. Alej’s subordinate reports no success in finding Yumalai and Alej says that he is worried that she might be in danger [duh – warriors usually are in danger]

Maybe Yumalai is in danger because she’s not a very good warrior. While she is sneaking around the prison, a guard takes her prisoner.

Pizarro reports to Montero that his troops are ready to attack the hacienda. Montero says that only Mangle should be spared. Then Montero throws a monkey wrench into Pizarro’s plan by saying that he will come along on the attack. Pizarro is impactado.

Mangle is putting the moves on Diego while Almudena overhears. When Diego says that he is worried about what is happening with his family, Mangle counters that she just wants to help heal him [sexual healing, maybe]. Diego can’t say no and Mangle takes him off to her room saying that she wants to tell him something.

Esme tells Pizarro that she won’t change cells without Renzo. He responds that maybe she won’t have to since the plan is in danger because of Montero’s participation in the raid on the hacienda. Pizarro wasn’t going to attack the hacienda but with Montero along, he will have to and the hacienda will be totally unguarded because Alej has sent all his men to the prison. Renzo accuses Pizarro of betraying them but Pizarro denies it. Esme begs Pizarro to do something to save the de la Vegas.

Mangle is putting the moves on Diego. He stops the proceeding saying that even though Mangle is beautiful, Diego is having dreams about another woman whose face he can’t see and he feels connected to this woman. Mangle claims that the woman Diego dreams about is her. When Diego asks why she says that, Mangle tells him that she is preggers with his child. Diego is impactado and the credits roll.

She kisses him on the cheek and leaves with the packet.

* Hilario kneels at the confessional and tells Padre that he made love with a married woman, the wife of his patron (Rod). Padre is impactado.

* Isa talks with mom about what to do with her marriage to Rod and his obsession with Gaviota. Aaron thinks it is about Rod and Isa (Sofia says Rod isn't attending the board meeting and Isa is ready to sign the divorce papers). Minnie, Granny and Bruno inform Aaron that the problem is with Mariana, his secretary. Aaron is shocked by the suspicion of Mariana as a spy at the company. Aaron defends his selection for secretary. Bruno jumps all over his son for Mariana requesting highly sensitive documents at the company without permission from Aaron. Fedra tries to calm the situation and suggests Aaron call Mariana to settle the issues - Minnie pipes up that Aaron can't do that, he doesn't have Mariana's address or phone number.

Roman rushes up to him and tries to get Rod to leave - Rod brushes him away and yells at Roman to leave him alone. Roman calls him "Patron" and Rod yells that he's no patron, he's patron to no one, and chases Roman away. Rod kneels at the grave and cries.

* Clara and Gavi return to the apartment. Clara is upset that they didn't see "Blanca Nieves". Gavi suggests Clara go to bed; Clara does that. Gavi goes back to her research work.

* Aaron fixes a drink at his home bar. Minnie enters and starts in about Mariana again - Aaron is frustrated and barks at her to stop it - Minnie tries to apologize and explain her actions. She tries to get close to Aaron - he isn't interested and tells her to go to bed and leave him alone. She leaves. Aaron wonders to himself if the suspicions about Mariana could possibly be true.

* Gavi fixes herself a cup of tea as she thinks about Rod. She runs to the phone and makes a call.

* As the other servant leaves for the night, Ofelia and Roman have tea and discuss Rod's depression. Phone rings. Roman answers - Gavi asks for Rod, but doesn't leave name or message and hangs up quickly. Gavi questions whether she should've even called. Roman sits down with Ofelia and is puzzled at the voice on the phone - he thinks it could be Gaviota - Ofelia is wide-eyed and curious - Roman checks the caller ID on the phone, writes down the number on a napkin and calls back. Gavi is shocked the phone is ringing and panics. She answers and uses a fake accent. Roman is confused and thinks it may be a wrong number and hangs up. Just then Rod returns home and calls for Roman. Rod joins Roman and Ofelia in the kitchen. Roman shows Rod the phone number and tells him he thinks it is Gaviota's number. Rod is shocked and excited and runs over to the phone to call the number. Clara wakes up with all the phone ringing - Clara and Gavi debate who could be calling them - Gavi finally answers the phone, again using her fake accent. Rod asks to speak with Gavi, it's important. Gavi is shocked and dumb-founded.

Duelo de Pasiones - Tuesday May Day - Not The Great Escape---even THE FROG can't escape

Dear Friends, my kinda surprise houseguests are still here at "Casa de Toda la Familia y Animales También" and I am unable to watch Duelo, much less pull off a recap. I'm terribly sorry about the lapse in recapping, especially after Margaret's super fantastic masterpiece of last night. I'm still re-reading and giggling over it.

Tonight I'm going to do the thing that Lynn did and that Carmel will do, and ask for commenters to fill us in on what happened tonight in Escondidaville. Thanks for your patience and your assistance. Oh, by the way, you can blame Susanlynn for tonight's title, I stole it from her comment of last night. I thought it summed up the Escondidaville situation quite nicely! Thanks y'all!!

Tuesday's recap is courtesy of Judy B (padded by a few tiny details from me because I actually managed to fast-forward through half of it this morning):

The struggle went on with Emilio. Instead of shooting Emilio himself, Don Loco was urging his henchmen to finish him off and they didn't want to. He called Sergio a "wuss"(tu enaguas (petticoat) de hoy en adelante) and appeared to be disgusted with them both.

Emilio somehow managed to punch DL and Sergio unconscious. They both conveniently and comfortably landed on the couch. Hugo held his gun to Duhmelio's head but eventually allowed him to escape. Instead of leaving Casa de Loco Emilio ran around the halls demanding to see Alina. Naturally Don Loco regained consciousness and when he saw Emilio he shot him in the leg outside Soledad's and Mariana's doors.

And yes, then DL and newHugo dragged Emilio down by the river and Don Loco held his face in the water until he appeared to drown. Then, after D.L. left, Hugo pulled him out of the river and tried to revive him and couldn't seem to. Later though he does cough up a lot of gunk and starts to drag himself back.

How many times is Emilio going to get shot? How many times is he going to stuck somewhere calling for help?

Hugo buried emiliooo's wallet, but kept the treasured silver heart to give to Alfonsina. He's just as smart as the rest of them...

Mariana worried about her brother being a murderer. Later she slept and had a dream of her sweet Marianita. (When I [I being Sylvia] was a child in Sunday School I used to drive my teachers crazy with endless questions about heaven...will my dog Willie be there, will I have to go the bathroom, will I continue to grow or will I stay the same age forever? I still don't know about Willie or the bathroom, but apparently kids grow in heaven because Marianita is losing her baby teeth and growing new ones. She has a big space where one of her front teeth is missing.) She tells her mommy not to worry and to have faith, lots of faith. A big tear squeezes out of Mariana's closed eyes.

As for Duhlina, lots of really irritating screaming (don't know which I hate more, her shrieks or Lety's giggle/baby talk) then faints and Gaspar takes her back to cave where she and Luba have a heart to heart and make up. Luba kind of told her what they were talking about in the hut but not really...Alina still doesn't know Thelma is carrying Gaspar's child.

Adela falls in the hole with the magic box (well, we KNEW that was going to happen) so both she and Emilioo are screaming Auxilio a lot.

Dario the homicidal nephew visits Corals friends at La Cueva del Diablo and demands to know where she is. Not being from Escondidaville they aren't stupid enough to tell him anything. Not yet anyway. He snarls that he will find her somehow.

Coral is back at the old bar and the boss is setting her up for revenge by insisting she's the star and the other girls must let her have all the best clothing. Presumably when bad nephew finds her these gals will betray her out of spite.

Santos meets up with Castulo, Castulo realizes he's amnesiac and starts telling him a lot of lies about himself and his presumed attacker.

Best part...really funny...Singing Aunt is ALL OVER, I mean ALL OVER Emilio's tio...who was thrown off his horse. Bouncing all over him trying to help and all he wants is to get rid of her. Good comedy there.

Ick factor was the scene where Don Loco is trying to kiss Soledad...she's resisting...then he says he'll be nice to Alina and give her what she wants if Soledad kisses him like she used to so they start going at it. Major eeeuwwwwww.

Whathisname...the incompetent engineer is being thrown in jail, accused of burglary 'cause he was trying to get into Don Loco's house. He's berating himself saying he's useless...yup, that's pretty much it.Soooo...that's all I remember, other than some stupid conversations between sirvientes and Thelma and Orlando which you don't need to hear...just more yada yada yada.

Oh, and Thelma gets a pain in her stomach. It must be from the gigantic pillow she has stuffed inside her shirt.

Judy B, thanks for being a part of the team, you are a lifesaver!! If anyone else wants to add some details I will include them.

La Fea Más Bella #265 5/1/07 Everyone gets to be Impactado

I didn't get to post this earlier, but greetings to the new blogger! It's nice to have a new member of the community!

Julieta smiles to herself and thinks “This man loves me!” She repeats this phrase to herself several times and then realizes that it was Lety’s phone that he called. “Who does he love?” She gets back on the line with the mystery man. Omar begs for her to say something, he only needs to hear her sweet voice. Julieta’s attitude has totally changed. She demands to know the name of the man on the other end of the line. Omar quickly hangs up the phone which leaves Julieta impactada once again. Julieta marvels to herself about this man calling Lety; her daughter has another suitor! Wait, that means there are three men after Lety. Julieta rushes from the room, determined to find Lety to talk to her.

Erasmo sits at the kitchen table and Julieta comes charging down the stairs. Julieta kisses Erasmo on the forehead. He wants to know where she’s going. Julieta lies and says she’s going to buy some stuff. Erasmo, the gentleman that he is, volunteers to take her but she says that there is no need for him to do that. Erasmo points out that she’s acting nervous. Julieta blows that off by saying she’s nervous because she doesn’t have all the ingredients for the meal she wants to prepare, “salsa de chile morita.” Julieta rushes out the door while Erasmo complains about women drowning in a vase of water. Here’s the recipe courtesy of Clay’s Kitchen:

Salsa de Chile Morita (Tipo Taquera)
¼ kg green tomato, peeled
50 g of morita chile
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup vinegar
1 cup water
Remove the stems from the chiles and soak the chiles for 20 minutes in ½ cup of water. Boil ½ cup of water and add the tomatoes. Bring to a boil again and cook for 5 minutes.
Grind tomatoes with remaining ingredients except the vinegar. Put the green tomato sauce mixture back in a pan and bring to a boil. Add the vinegar.
Fill bottles with the sauce leaving a centimeter of space between the mouth of the bottle and the cover. Close tightly and submerge in hot water for 20 minutes to sterilize the product. Cool to room temperature and store. The sauce should last approximately 8 months.
At Conceptos, Fernando enters Omar’s office and announces that he wants to congratulate Omar. Omar scolds Fernando for yelling; it gives Omar a headache. Fernando doesn’t understand how, considering Omar’s head is empty. Fernando reminds Omar that he did have a quite a bit of whiskey the night before. What did Omar expect? They quarrel a little over the actual quantity of whiskey. Omar gives up and wants to know why Fernando offers his congratulations. Fernando yells one more time and then asks Omar about apologizing to Lety. Omar explains that the only reason he did so was to clean his conscience. Fernando plays on the desk with Omar’s pencils (Seriously, this is an office, did Televisa just not have a pen budget?) and remarks about how Aurora has really made Omar think carefully. Fernando’s really not a bad pencil/desk player. If he ever enters a beauty contest, that can be his talent! (That and smiling…and looking weepy…and singing…ummm…back to the show!) Omar explains that he learned not to use people, especially women. Fernando says he doesn’t believe Omar but he’ll wait and see if this new theology pans out over time. Omar swears that he is depressed. He begs Fernando to do him a favor. Fernando agrees and then answers the ringing phone. It’s Sara and she has a gentleman on the phone named Pablo Cantu who wants to do a campaign for a company called Retromode. This must be good news considering the look on Fernando’s face.

Alicia’s in Tomas’s office, trying to get him to buy her some new clothes. He doesn’t want her to look like a charity case when she meets his mother! Tomas says she could never look like she needs charity, no matter what clothes she has. That’s right Tommy, because you’re fiancée looks like a stripper/hooker and I think they have to make at least $100.00 an hour! Tomas even volunteers for them to go somewhere private where she can take off all her clothes and show Tomas how much she loves him. Alicia is shocked, just shocked. This is what Tomas really wants from her! Tomas denies that he just wants to make the most of the situation. All he wants is a little taste of their life together. Alicia remembers that horrific night some time ago when she and Tomas slept together. Here’s the webaddress for the summary http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2006/12/lfmb-fri-128-163-desgraciados-boobs.html (if it doesn’t work it’s the summary from 12/8) . She tells Tomas not to even dream about it. They will not make love until the honeymoon, and not before that time! Tomas wants to know why, but Alicia pretends to be a classy woman who wants to be chaste and pure for the marriage bed. She tells him that he’s making her mad, and to make her happy he needs to buy her some clothes. Tomas agrees to do just that.

Fernando hangs out with Lety in her office. He explains about Pablo Cantu and the campaign. Lety remarks that Retromode’s clothing is a lot like what Aurora wears. (Hopefully, not the mermaid dress from last night.) Fernando pauses for a moment and Lety attempts to explain, but they decide to move on to another topic. Fernando wants the company to hurry and put together a presentation for the campaign. This campaign will really aid in paying off some of the debt that Conceptos owes Aldo. Lety loves this. The pair goofily smile at each other for just a moment, but they’re interrupted by the phone. Fernando rushes to his office to answer the phone.

I was mercifully spared 16 full minutes of Fea without having to see or hear Mr. Farrah Fawcett. You know how the saying goes, if it’s too good to be true. Well, he’s in Lety’s office and he looks unhappy. He walks in and hands Lety something that looks like a rolled up magazine. Next, he asks Lety to smack him and points to his forehead. Umm…umm…umm…it’s just too easy. Instead of smacking Alpo, Lety kisses him on the forehead and says that he’s forgiven. (Lety, you sappy bitch!) Farrah just loves this and pulls her around the desk. He thanks her and says that he promises not to be so jealous and possessive. Lety leans in to kiss him, but he doesn’t think they’re in the right place to do that. Aldo asks her to go for a walk because he has something important to tell her. She asks if she may have a kiss out there. Aldo agrees to give her a kiss outside. They leave.

Fernando leaves his office and yells after them to leave. He kicks the desk, hurts his toe and limps back to his office.

At the clothing store Tomas is impactado about the prices on the clothing. He wanders from rack to rack checking out the tags. He walks up to the dressing room and tells Alicia that this store is way to expensive. Alicia bursts out of the dressing room and tells Tomas that she decided to buy all of the clothing in her hands. He gasps to himself.

Fernando sits in his office and analyzes the budget. He overhears Julieta enter Lety’s office. Fernando calls Julieta to his office and she gladly enters with a hug and kiss. Fernando offers her his chair. They share some pleasantries. Julieta tells him that she really needs to speak with Lety. Fernando says that, unfortunately, he doesn’t know where Lety is but he’s sure she’s not in the building. Julieta asks about who accompanied Lety. Fernando replies that she left with Aldo. Julieta sighs and tells Fernando that she has a question for him. She asks if he’s gone out with her daughter the last couple nights. Fernando confirms that he has not. Next, Julieta asks if he’s noticed Lety acting strange lately. Fernando agrees that he noticed this. Julieta asks Fernando to tell Lety that she came by to see her daughter. Fernando agrees and they part ways.

Aldo and Lety go for a walk outside of Conceptos. Aldo tells Lety he thinks that it would be a good idea for them to buy a wedding present for Tomas and Alicia. Needless to say, Lety doesn’t wanna. Aldo tells Lety that Tomas is her best friend; she should support him. Besides, she can buy a gift that Alicia won’t use or enjoy; like, they could get them a stove or a washing machine or an iron. They giggle about their witiness. Lety says she knows what she’s going to buy the couple, but she doesn’t tell Aldo what her gift will be. Next comes the mushiness. Lety strokes the Farrah hair and tells Aldo that he’s handsome. Aldo calls her beautiful in return. They giggle and baby talk.

Alicia hands the salesman the clothing and says that she wants it all. Tomas takes the clothes from his hands and reminds her that she said that she only wanted one outfit. Alicia takes back the clothes and hands it back to the salesman. The pair argue about the amount of clothing to buy; the poor salesman gets stuck in between the war of the “blondes.” Alicia wins by pretending to cry.

Fernando leads the real estate agent into his office. The agent tells Fernando that there is a buyer for the house. Fernando ignores him and looks over the budget. When the agent says he can come back at a better time, Fernando acknowledges him and shakes hands. Once the agent repeats about having a buyer, Fernando ignores him again. Finally, Fernando turns to the agent and finds out that there is a buyer for the house. Fernando explains that he still needs to look for an apartment and then he’ll move out of his house. The agent replies that the buyer wants to move in as soon as possible. The agent offers to wait for another buyer, but Fernando rejects this and says that he’ll try to move out quickly. The agents asks if this means he may close the deal. Fernando says that of course it means that. Fernando asks the man to tell him all about the sale of the house, and then absentmindedly shuts the door behind the agent. Once Fernando sits at his desk, he wonders to himself how the whole sale of his house is going to go down.

Lety enters Tomas’s office and gives him a present to open. She gives him an apron. Lety jokes that she gave it to Tomas so that he can attend to his woman. Tomas half laughs. Lety congratulates him for real and wishes him happiness. Tomas rushes around the desk and hugs his best friend. Tomas sits down for a serious talk. He asks Lety if she thinks his mom will accept Alicia. Lety looks a little worried.

Fernando enters the vortex and asks the Tropical Rainforest (Saimon’s nickname for PM) if she knows Lety’s whereabouts. PM points to Lety walking through the room. Fernando stops her and shows her the new budget for the campaign. Lety and Fernando leave for Luigi’s office.

Lety barges into Luigi’s office. He tells her that she needs to learn to announce herself instead of just waltzing into the office. He needs to prepare himself for all the platypusness! Lety boo’s at him and he jumps. Luigi takes a shot at Fernando by calling him a small lizard in dirty water, but Fernando jumps straight into business. After some banter, Lety explains that Conceptos will be producing a campaign for Retromode thanks to Fernando. Luigi applauses Fernando for finally doing something. Lety explains that Fernando came up with a budget, but now they need to do something to wow the client. They need Luigi to demonstrate why Conceptos won the prize at Cannes. Luigi says he can do it as long as Lety promises not to limit him in any way. Lety swears on the word of the platypuses. Luigi and Lety start to converse, but Fernando rushes her out of the office.

Once they’re out of the office, Fernando tells Lety that he doesn’t think he’s doing a good job as her assistant. Lety reminds him that he’s more than an assistant. Fernando explains that he forgot to tell Lety that her mom came urgently looking for her. Lety worries that something is wrong with her dad. Fernando says it’s not that. Her mom is worried about Lety. Julieta asked if he was going out with Lety at night. Lety gives the lame excuse that she’s been out with you know who. She buries her eyes into her cell phone and says that she really needs to call Caro to talk about the project. Fernando scolds her and tells Lety to be sincere. Something is up and he wants to know what. Lety tries to rush past Fernando, but he grabs her. They get “thisclose” but Luigi exits his office just in time to interrupt. Luigi squeals and they quickly pull away.

Fernando enters Omar’s office and finds Omar admiring a photo of Aurora. Fernando scolds Omar and then announces that he, Fernando, obtained a project for Conceptos. Omar pleads with Fernando to leave him alone. Fernando agrees to do so, but first he sexily leans over Omar’s desk (Oh, to be that desk!) and tells Omar that he’s lost his grace. Omar repeats the word back at Fernando and they giggle about it. Now I think Fernando might be playing on words & referring to Greta Garbo . Omar reminds Fernando that Fernando was the first to jump ship and become an idiot for a woman. Fernando accepts this. Omar thinks that Fernando abandoned him, and now it’s Fernando’s fault that Omar lost Aurora. Well, Fernando now thinks they’re even since Fernando lost Lety because of Omar. They “shake” hands on it. They argue over whose loss was worse. Omar laments days gone by when they both were great conquers of women. They argue over who is the bigger fool. Fernando thinks they should just forget about women, period. They decide to celebrate.

That night, Lety comes home to Julieta sitting in Lety’s darkened bedroom. Julieta immediately tells Lety about the phone call. Lety says that she can explain. Julieta thinks that would be great, as long as Lety tells the truth. Julieta gets in Lety’s face and asks her about where she’s been going at night. Lety replies that she’s been leaving to see a man. Julieta is impactada.
Ah, the meeting of the mother! Alicia walks into Tomas’s house and is greeted by his mother. They asks each other who the other is and after some problems figuring out who is who, Alicia asks for Tomas. Alicia tries to enter, but Tomas’s mom blocks her. Tomas passes and comes running to Alicia and tells his mom that this is his woman. His mother comments that this woman is way to “grandota” to be his woman. Now, I couldn’t find a translation for grandota, but I did find a school book called “Cerdota Grandota/How Big is Your Pig.” Very fitting, no? Tomas introduces Alicia to his mother. She gapes her mouth in surprise.

Alicia introduces herself and gives her little speech about six semesters blabbity, blabbity, blah. Tomas’s mom answers by saying that Tomas had six years of primary school. Alicia half smiles and tells Tomas’s mom that she (Alicia) is many things that his mom won’t understand. Tomas’s mom gets a “chica, what” face. Tomas pulls Alicia into the house and stations her on the couch. Alicia demands a coffee, but Tomas’s mom will have none of it. She tells Tomas to get Alicia out of the house. Tomas tries to placate his mom. The women argue through Tomas. Tomas explains that Alicia came to ask for his hand. Tomas’s mom says that he will never marry that woman. Alicia feigns offense and gets up to leave. Tomas chases her and re-seats her on the couch. Alicia gets up to leave, and Tomas’s mom holds him from following Mrs. Ferreira. Mom tells Tomas that he’s lost television privileges, but Tomas just doesn’t care. She has him put out his hands so she can smack them.

Julieta can’t believe what her daughter just said. Lety asks her mom to let her explain; it’s really not that bad. Lety reminds her mother of Omar’s letter. She’s found a way to teach him a small lesson. Julieta thinks this might not be bad, but she want’s to know exactly how it’s went down. Lety explains that she sort of fell into it by accident. Julieta is relieved. Lety asks for a favor. She needs help with something for Aldo.

Fernando sits in his home with Omar and some of Omar’s “friends.” Instead of talking to the women, they reminisce about the old days when they would dance and seduce women like that. They also discuss they’re lack of libido. The women just look bored. The men move on to a more interesting topic – “Karate Kid.” Since Fernando doesn’t have a television anymore, they talk about playing a game of “matatenas” or “jacks.” The women stand in another part of the room and talk about how boring the men are. They want to leave and go have some fun. The women leave, but the men don’t really care. Fernando mentions in passing that it would be a good idea for the men to live together.

In the Mora household, Mrs. Mora watches TV and tells Tomas to close his eyes because he’s not allowed to watch TV. Tomas replies that he doesn’t care. He walks over to his mom and begs her to forgive his woman and to give Alicia a chance. Tomas is sure that his mother will like Alicia. Mrs. Mora replies that you only need to look once at some people in order to know how they are. Tomas begs some more, but his mom is more interested in the TV.

The days move faster now, and we’re treated to another Aldo-Lety moment. Lety explains that Luigi is now working on the campaign. Aldo’s interested, but he has to excuse himself to go to the restaurant. Lety fishes for a kiss, but Aldo won’t give it up to her. She asks him if he’s busy tonight. He says that he’s not and asks if this means she wants to go somewhere. In the cave, Fernando listens into the conversation and hopes that Lety doesn’t want to go anywhere. Guess what; she doesn’t. She wants to spend time at her house. Fernando pumps his fist in victory. Lety says she has something for Aldo, but she won’t tell him until that night. She tells Aldo to bring his father. He tries to get it out of her, but she’s not budging. Fernando sits in his office and wonders.

Alicia enters Tomas’s office. He excitedly tells her that it took a lot of work, but his mother will give Alicia another opportunity. Alicia scoffs at this. She says that Tomas should just forget about the wedding. Tomas doesn’t think it’s a good idea to rush to this decision. Alicia replies that it wasn’t rushed; she thought about it way before she even met him. The phone rings; Lety wants to see Tomas in her office. Tomas excuses himself and tells Alicia to think about it. Alicia talks to herself and then picks up Tomas’s check. Once she sees how much he makes, her mind suddenly changes.

Once Tomas enters her office, Lety asks him to come to her house that night. Tomas says that depends if his woman will come. He needs to take her to see his mother. Lety worries about this encounter. Tomas tells Lety that the first round was last night. Lety again asks Tomas to be in her house that night. Tomas agrees and flees the office.

Fernando exits his office. He tells her that he can hear everything she says from in there. She reminds him that she heard everything when she worked in that office. Fernando nervously laughs. Fernando points out that Lety is going to have a party at her house. Lety stiffens and says that she would invite him, but she doesn’t think he would like it. Fernando says that he loves going to Lety’s house and hearing Erasmo’s stories about Uncle Lazaro. Lety tries to explain herself, but Fernando interrupts and says that he understands. He goes back to his office.

The instant he passes the threshold of his office, his whole face changes. Gone is happy Fernando; present is pissed/unhappy Fernando. Lety doesn’t look overjoyed either. Her mother knocks on the door and enters. Julieta sits and explains to Lety that she thought things over after their conversation last night. She thinks that Lety needs to think, because she’s hurrying things. Fernando, hearing his number one ally, cracks the door of the office to listen. Julieta thinks that Lety is still confused and may regret her actions later. Lety assures her mother that she knows what she’s doing. Julieta reminds Lety that for the last few months Lety thought that Fernando was the love of her life. Fernando smiles. Julieta tells Lety to accept that she’s confused and that she may have been wrong thinking that she is in love with Aldo. Lety and Fernando are impactados!

La Fea Más Bella #264 4/30/07 Surprises for everyone!

We open with Omar bragging to Fernando that he's going to get lucky tonight. He then takes it back, saying that it's a bad habit. He thinks Aurora's going to confess her love.

Suddenly, we switch to the opening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show…no, wait, it's a close-up of Aurora's lips while she's on the phone, planning a surprise Omar will never forget.

Aldo's talking to the restaurant owner about the menu when he gets a call. From the goofy look on his face, we know it's Lety. Lety giggles on the phone, but it turns into Aurora's sexi-laugh, which confuses Aldo, and she covers by saying she's getting hoarse. Aldo wants to come over to the house tonight, but he's too busy at work. Lety says not to worry, they'll see each other tomorrow. Then there's some mush that thankfully doesn't end in a "You hang up first"/"No, you hang up first" fight.

Marta shows up at Lety's house for her surveillance shift. Lety's dad rasps to Marta about the stuff she brought with her--blanket, snacks--and gives her a hard time about being a married woman and trying to win a date with Colunga. Marta says she's not interested in Colunga that way, she's in love with her husband, they're like Romeo and Juliet, and this pacifies Lety's dad. Marta's brought tortas to snack on, and Lety's dad wants to know if there's one with pierna (A "leg" torta? A Google search reveals that this is a leg of pork…yum!). They settle in for some serious snackage.

Omar's so nervous about his date with Aurora he can't tie his tie, so Fernando does it for him. They're babbling and talking over each other, but there's something about Omar's nervous stomach (I think). Omar wants to know how he looks and Fernando says he looks pretty (precioso) but like an idiot (cara de tonto), but Omar wants more feedback since he's trying to make a good impression. Fernando sniffs Omar up and down and says he smells like an animal from all the testosterone he's giving off. Then he spritzes him with cologne (this looks more and more like a girls' pajama party every minute). Omar says he's like a buffalo (say what?) and that it's not testosterone, it's twoo wuv, like the love Fernando has felt. Fernando confirms that he has felt true love, mutters some more about how very pretty Omar's looking and helps Omar put his jacket on. Oh, wacky hijinks, Fernando has put his jacket on Omar. Not to worry, Omar puts his own jacket on and Fernando tries to push him out the door as Omar obsesses some more about how he looks. Fernando makes plans to follow Omar (because grooming and dressing him for his date just wasn't enough).

Aurora approaches the restaurant, telling an absent Omar to prepare for his punishment. (As she is not wearing black leather, I can only assume this is a punishment Omar is not supposed to enjoy.)

Alicia is at Placide restaurant. The waiter approaches and asks what she would like. She orders a water, for now, but not bottled water because it's expensive. The waiter tries not to roll his eyes as he leaves the table. He fails. (I got that same look last night at a hideously expensive steak restaurant because I said I didn't want a salad. Darn snooty waiters.) Alicia looks anxious and pouty, but never fear, Tomás is here. Apparently Alicia told him she urgently needed to see him. She haughtily orders him to sit down, "What I have to tell you is very delicate, and horrifying." Tomás is now alarmed, he wants to know what's wrong with his chiquita. And the big drama is…Alicia's hungry. Tomás is annoyed that this is what she wanted him for, but she says no, "You're a wretch, the most despicable person I've ever known in my life, that's what you are!" Tomás says he knows this song, can she learn another one. He wants to know what he's done this time. She grabs him by the collar of his jacket, gets all up in his parilla, and demands to know how he could offer HER apartment to Ana Leticia. Tomás gapes like a fish as he tries to come up with an answer.

Back at Casa Lety, Mom, the dog, and Lola have joined in the snackage. As Lola suffers from a particularly spicy torta and Dad goes to get her some water, the doorbell rings. Mama greets him effusively with "Aldito!" It's besitos all around, except for Dad, who wants to know if Aldo is there looking for the Mujer Misteriosa, but no, Aldo is looking for Lety because he has news for her. Mama says Lety's not home yet what with all that work she's had to do lately and that she's still at the office. Papa makes to call the office, but the girls tell him that Lety went out with Fernando to visit some clients. Aldo wants to know what clients and Lola says "Well…some of the many the company has, of course," and Marta tries to distract him with an offer of a torta. Aldo wants to leave and call Lety later, but Papa will not hear of it. Since Aldo has been so polite as to come over, he must stay and wait for Lety. Mama tries to get Aldo off the hook, saying he might have something to do, but Papa wonders if it's more important than seeing Lety. And thus Aldo is stuck at the house.

As Alicia and Tomás have dinner, Tomás tells Alicia he's sorry, but the apartment isn't hers, she looked down on it (lo despreciaste), and besides, if he offered it to AniLeti, it's while she looks for somewhere else to live. Alicia says that's not true, he's trading her in for that shameless woman (descocada), and what did they do together? Tomás denies that there was any "doing" while they were together. Alicia: "Besides, you need to know something very important, she's not a natural woman, she's superficial, she's only interested in money, she's no good for you, she's going to ruin you!" Tomás isn't buying it, AniLeti's a lovely person, very attractive, simpática, and besides, he's only doing it to help her. Alicia has lost her appetite (excuse me while I spray hot tea all over my monitor), "This is happening because I didn't respond sooner and tell you what I'd decided, I'm so stupid!" Tell him what, you ask? Why, that she'll marry him, of course. Tomás proceeds to have some combination of an asthma attack and a seizure, alarming the other patrons of this fine dining establishment.

Meanwhile, Omar waits anxiously at a table for Aurora. She walks in, looking hot as usual (Eh, no, not really. I'm not loving this dress, but at least Friday's running around has stretched out the fabric and she can now take a full stride). Omar attempts to kiss her on the hand, but is rebuffed. Aurora sits down, seductively laying her fur across her lap. Omar professes his desire for her. Aurora says this is normal. Fernando stumbles in and sneaks around the perimeter of the room using the classic stealth technique of holding his hand up to cover his face. He accidentally puts his hand on the shoulder of a woman at the bar. She prepares to turn on the charm, but Fernando scolds her for being too young to be in a bar. He sits down and orders a drink (may I suggest something in a fish bowl with a really big umbrella). Omar wants to know what his surprise is, what Aurora wants to tell him, then asks her to tell him she wants to kiss him. Some random guy walks up and greets Omar and Aurora. Omar impatiently shoos him away, but Aurora gets up and goes to him. Yep, it's the old fake boyfriend ploy. Aurora claims they'd been fighting, but since he found out Aurora had gone out with Omar he got jealous and wanted to get back together. Fake Boyfriend wants Aurora to tell Omar she only went out with him to make FB Jealous. As FB smirks smirkily, Omar's heart breaks.

We return from commercial to a desperate Omar, saying she can't do this to him, it isn't true, a woman using HIM (gasp, horrors!). Aurora suggests to Fake Boyfriend that they leave and then gives Omar the 'ol "hasta nunca" (till never). But Omar doesn't understand, what was this? It can't be! Fernando chooses this moment to come up and hug Omar, singing about love. He slaps Omar on the cheek and tells him to come out of the trance. He tells Omar it's no problem, get out your little black book and call one of your girlfriends. Fernando thinks Omar must be joking with him and calls him a good actor. Omar screams at the waiter to come over and orders a whiskey. (Now, see, he can't have been that in love, otherwise he would have ordered a bottle of tequila!) Fernando now realizes Omar is serious, this has really hit him hard. Omar declares his intention to get drunk so he can forget he was an idiot for letting himself get involved. Fernando doesn't want Omar to get like this over a woman--it surprises and scares him. Omar says she's not "a" woman, she's the most beautiful woman, the one for him, the one he thought of marrying, his twin soul, just like Lety is Fernando's. Nonononono, says Fernando, you are Omar Carvajal, who dates many women at once to avoid falling in love with one, have you already forgotten? Omar says that she was an extraordinary woman and he truly fell in love with her. Fernando believes him, but he doesn't want to believe him, he doesn't want Omar to fall in love, to fall into the abyss of love, one of them being in love is enough on this team. Omar screeches for the waiter again and the waiter brings his whiskey. Fernando doesn't think Omar should drink and wants to leave, but Omar wants another whiskey, straight, three of them. Fernando mother-hen's some more about leaving.

The patrons and waiter at Placide are having no luck reviving Tomás. Alicia thinks he had a shock from happiness. Other diners think it's a heart attack, no, diabetes, no, an embolism, no, brain arthritis! Alicia agrees that it must be brain arthritis and dismisses the other diners since they are taking oxygen away from Tomás. Alicia confesses to the waiter (who's fanning Tomás with a napkin) that she told Tomás she would marry him, but only out of desperation because poverty has driven her crazy, and that she'd barely finished telling him and already wanted to change her mind. Tomás is coming around now. He wants Alicia to say it again, which she does, which triggers another attack. Alicia slaps him around to wake him up and Tomás asks for more. He kisses Alicia's hand, arm, shoulder, but doesn't get to her lips because Alicia sticks her other hand in his face. Tomás says that Alicia must ask his mother for his hand because she won't let him marry just anyone, he's so spoiled. Tomás says don't worry, his mom will want to meet her. Alicia offers to give him a picture tomorrow for Tomás to give his mom, but this won't do, she must meet mama in person, mama will love Alicia like a daughter, and if she doesn't meet mama, mama will object to their marriage and Alicia doesn't want mama as an enemy.

Aurora thanks Fake Boyfriend for his services. He said he owes Carolina a lot and it was no trouble. If she ever needs him again she should call…she's so pretty and it would be a pleasure to see her again. This sets off a spate of Lety-giggles, followed by Aurora telling him she should have no further need of his services since she got what she wanted. FB: Making that guy Omar jealous? A: More than that, I wanted him to know what it feels like to be used. Off Duty Fake Boyfriend thinks she achieved her goal since Omar was so upset. Aurora/Lety (her voice is somewhere in the mid-range by now) says she doesn't think so because Omar is so callous. ODFB thinks Omar was genuinely affected. Aurora/Lety makes a smooshed Lety face as she considers this.

Aldo's trying to get out of the house since Lety's still not home. Papa's says he's going to have a serious talk with her when she gets home, but Aldo says she must have a good reason for being out late. Aldo takes his leave, with besitos all around again, menos papa. (Looks like Marta sneaks Moty a bit of torta.) Papa asks if the girls are staying all night and says he doesn't think it's worth the trouble. He proposes that since he's got insomnia, he'll watch for the Mujer Misteriosa and if he sees her, he'll call. The ladies agree that it's a good plan and Papa hustles them out of the house, physically. Mama thinks that Papa will sleep like a lion tonight (a wimoweh, a wimoweh) since he told the girls he'd keep watch, and besides, even if he does have insomnia he wouldn't watch out for that Mujer Misteriosta. Papa: Ah, you know me well, I always sleeps as I like (a gusto, is there a better translation for that?). Papa goes to bed and Mama prays to St. Jude to look out for Lety because she doesn't know where she is.

Fernando brings a drunk Omar to his place as Omar sings to the tune of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow". Fernando thinks they've sung it 120 times and need to stop. Omar proclaims his love for Fernando…he loves Fernando almost as much as he loves Aurora, Fernando is an idiot and Aurora is his love. Omar wants another whiskey so they can keep celebrating, celebrating that he's trash, filth, and he just figured it out, he makes women suffer because he uses them, but now he knows and he must celebrate. Fernando is bringing him another whiskey, a new whiskey, with bubbles to make the alcohol work better (hm, this looks suspiciously like an Alka Seltzer). Omar wants to toast to the filth (inmundicia) of a man he is, he's trash, he loves Aurora, he's depressed. Omar drinks the whiskey…mmm, he wants another one. Too bad Lety's not around to see Omar saying that he loves Aurora, he wants her to forgive him for being a bad guy, he's filth, he loves her, forgive him. Thankfully Omar now passes out on the couch. Fernando tells passed-out Omar that now Omar finally understands how difficult love is and how bad he was to mock Fernando's love for Lety.

Lety's back home, pajama-ed, and in bed (what? No comical sneaking in scene?). She says that Aurora has completed her mission and has no reason to return. Omar was…well, what she did wasn't SO bad, he'd only seen her three times, or four, but he sure was out of sorts (si se sacó de onda). She giggles, well, in one ear and out the other. Mama enters, she wants to know what's up, Aldo was looking for her, she wants to know the truth, has Lety been going out with Fernando on the sly? Lety giggles, no. Mama: Then where were you tonight? Lety: I was settling something I had pending, but I'm done. Mama: Something you had pending? Lety: Mama, I promise from now on I'll dedicate myself to Aldo…and Conceptos. Mama whips out her MomGuilt card about Aldo looking so bad and leaves Lety. Well played, Mama, Lety now has her guilt face on.

Aldo is…on the restaurant patio? He's wearing his chef's jacket, sitting on a patio chair, talking to the Lety in his head. Wondering where she was since she didn't tell him she'd gone out. Wondering what she's hiding from him now, and on top of that, asking him to trust her. He tells himself to calm down, he's not like that, he shouldn't let his jealousy get the better of him.

The next day at Casa Lety, Lety's running late and doesn't have time for breakfast. Mama asks Lety to remember what they talked about last night as Lety runs out the door. Papa wants to know what they talked about and Mama says Lety won't be coming home late anymore. Papa hopes so, because he doesn't want her to ruin the lovely relationship she has with Aldo. (The cameraperson and the music person would like you to take note of the cell phone that has been left on the dining table.)

Aldo waits in Lety's office. Lety: Why are you here so early? How are you? Aldo: Bad. What happened? I went to your house, didn't find you, I don't know what time you got home. Lety: I was taking care of something. Something Carolina asked me to do. Aldo doesn't believe her.

We return from commercial to Aldo sitting in his office, taking his anger out on his keyboard. Fernando comes in and wants to talk about Lety. Aldo doesn't want to talk to him about Lety. Fernando wants to know why they're fighting. Aldo accuses him of liking listening in on other people's conversations. Fernando says he doesn't like to, but he can't avoid it since he can hear everything that goes on in Lety's office from his office. Fernando says he wants to be Aldo's friend, but Aldo doesn't believe him any more than I do. Fernando says, as a friend, if they fought maybe it's because Aldo isn't Lety's media naranja. (I must now explain that this is literally "half orange," but figuratively it is used to mean "other half," "better half," or, more significantly "perfect partner.") Fernando goes on to say that maybe Aldo's more like her medio limón (half lemon) as Aldo is bitter and Lety is sweet. Aldo asks Fernando, as a friend, if what Fernando wants to know is whether Aldo is going to give Fernando free reign (dejar el camino libre) to let him get to Lety. Fernando denies that this is what he wants and says he's not going to get between them. Aldo says, as a friend, he doesn't know what Fernando came there for. Fernando says it was to tell him, as a friend, that if Aldo makes HIS (Fernando's) Lety suffer he will have to deal with Fernando. Aldo tells Fernando, as a friend, to go to hell, MANdiola. Fernando: Suffocate, DoMENSAin. Then another round of "Ahogate"/"Asfixiate" before Fernando blows on Aldo's ship (literally) as he heads out the door and Aldo asks Fernando not to contaminate his ship with his bad breath. After Fernando leaves, Aldo does the arm clenches plus squats of "I hate that guy" (for a minute there, I thought he was going to turn into a big green monster, but that's a different show).

And now the Lovesick Omar show. He's in his office looking at a black and white head shot of Aurora (I must say, that picture looks better than real live Aurora in color…something about the hair color and lipstick color clashing). He's calling Aurora's cell and begging her to answer. There's the cell phone, on the table at Casa Lety. He gets no answer, so he calls Ernesto asking if there's been any news about the Mujer Misteriosa. He asks Ernesto to find her and calls Caro. He complains to Caro about his hangover and about Aurora having a boyfriend and asks her how serious the Aurora-Fake Boyfriend relationship is (it should have a name, like Brangelina…anybody got one?), but Caro hangs up on him. Omar says now he's got a big problem.

Lety is in her office, looking at the picture of her with Aldo, when Fernando walks in and brusquely gives her a "Permiso, Doña Lety" as he makes his way to his office. Tomás comes in for Lety to congratulate him. Lety: For what? You've finally been hired by the Circus of Economists? Tomás: No, but they did ask if you could sub for the bearded lady. They joke some more about this idea. Tomás tells her that he's going to marry Alicia. Lety is so impactada she stands up halfway, takes off her glasses, and plops back down. She tells Tomás she was happy for him being in love with Alicia and she pretty much blew it off (te di el avion, literally "gave you the plane") because she though it was just platonic, but she wonders if he's thought about it, marrying Alicia could be his ruin. Tomás says he doesn't need to think about it. Lety: That woman is so selfish. Tomás: Don't talk that way about my future wife. I thought you would support me. Lety: I can't support you. I have to tell you that you could be making the biggest mistake of your life. Tomás: You know being with her is the goal of my life, I've done everything for her. You can't support me? Thanks a lot, boss. As Tomás leaves, Omar comes in to talk to Lety. She asks if he's ok and he says yes, but he sure doesn't look like it.

Alicia is trying to borrow Marcia's mink coat. Alicia says she has a big event to go to and she wants to look even more spectacular than usual, with a coat. Marcia want's to know what the important event is. Alicia says she's going to meet a woman who will be fundamental in her life and she has to look well-dressed so this woman knows what kind of woman Alicia is. Marcia says it's more like Alicia wants to look like something she's not, but Alicia takes offense at this.

Back in Lety's office, Lety tells Omar the world is round and what does he have to tell her that's so important. Omar says he found out something terrible...something that makes him anxious and won't let him sleep for years...he's going "down there," to hell! Lety's like, yeah, yeah, we already knew that, but why? Omar says he fell in love and she used him and he realized that what he had done to Lety was terrible because he used her. Lety puts on her fake-mildly-surprised and interested face. Omar: The thing with Fernando and the letters and the love cards, you remember, right? If you don't forgive me I'm going to hell and they say it's hot there. Lety: That's really what bothers you? Omar: No, but also my Aurora disappeared and, well, that has nothing to do with you… Lety: No, I imagine not. Omar: The thing is, in order to be ok with myself, please, I beg you, forgive me. Lety says she thinks Omar still has farther to go to understand what this is all about.

Tomás is complaining to Aldo that Lety didn't support him and wasn't happy for him. Aldo tries to explain to Tomás that Lety doesn't want Tomás to suffer. Tomás says Lety's not just ugly, she's also envious. Aldo tells Tomás not to talk about Lety that way. Tomás says Aldo can't forbid him anything with regard to Lety, they may be friends, but he knew Lety before he knew Aldo. Aldo says he'll talk to Lety, and he congratulates Tomás and wishes him luck.

Carolina comes into Lety's office needing to speak to her urgently about Omar. Lety drags her into the boardroom so Fernando can't hear. Caro says Omar has been driven crazy and the whole Aurora thing has gone too far. Lety says she knows and she's learned that vengeance is a dish one eats cold, alone, and that it's bitter. She says she's really sorry and she's not like that. Caro says she knows, but the problem is, how are they going to get Omar to forget about Aurora. Lety says he's going to have to forget her, because she'll never be heard from again.

At Casa Lety, Mama has taken the cell phone and a load of laundry into Lety's room. The phone rings and Mama wonders if she should answer it. Of course, she does, and wackiness ensues. Omar: I don't care if you have a boyfriend, I love you with my whole soul, I need to see you, get away and we'll see each other tonight, I beg you, Aurora! Mama is impactada y confundida!

Tomorrow: It's all about the Mamas.

Zorro Monday April 30, 2007: Where Mangle learns the rabbit died and Fernando ponders Holy Orders

Mariangel, taking advantage of his amnesiatic state, is trying to get Diego to consummate their marriage. However, the powerful visions he’s had of a dancing Esmeralda cause him to take pause. Mangle demands to know what’s happening when he pulls away from her. Diego asks if she flamenco dances, and she tells him she’d do anything he wants her to do. She gets him back into it, but then Diego hears a gunshot and jumps off the bed and heads out of the room to investigate. Personally, I think he was looking for any distraction to get away from her.

The gunshot Diego heard was warning shots being shot at Garcia (SAM) and Pizarro, who are coming to the de la Vega estate to negotiate with Alejandro. SAM suggests they wave a white flag, Al is such a gentleman he’ll honor the white flag. Piza agrees to this, but insists that they ride in on their horses---entering with dignity and also able to make a quicker escape in case things go badly. Piza tells SAM that it is possible that Al won’t believe what Piza has to say, Al might suspect that he’s just there to gather recon info for Montero. SAM says he wondered the same thing, if that was Piza’s real motive. No, I will be checking out Al’s supplies and number of troops, but I just want to get rid of Monty-Piza says. Well, SAM says, I’m someone who can be easily fooled, but Al isn’t. SAM also tells Piza that he will be willing to switch sides, so if things don’t work out SAM will be joining Al and his men.

Dolores and Esme are now sharing the same prison cell. Dolo is filled in on the plan to work with Piza to get free and cause damage to Monty. Dolo doesn’t like the plan, neither man is to be trusted. Dolo is pretty sure that if the men get Sara Kali, Esme’s mom, they’ll kill her and probably kill Esme too. Renzo, from the next cell over, tells Dolo that they can use Piza to their advantage to get out of prison and then they can protect SK. Esme decides that they need a back up plan. She’s been inspired by the Shawshank Redemption, and plans on digging her way out of the prison (she forgot the part of the story involving years of working on the wall and the whole Betty Grable poster hiding all the work, small details I’m sure). Renzo is skeptical about this plan. He wonders where her hole will lead to? Possibly another cell? Dolo doesn’t like this idea either. Esme tells Dolo she’s got to get out of there, because she’s pregnant with Diego’s child. Dolo is so happy, she’s going to become an “abuela”. So now, Esme says, do you see why I need to get out of here? The baby is the reason for everything I’m doing.

Diego heads down the stairs, sees Bernardo and asks if he heard the gunshot. He also runs into Almudena. This is the first time he’s seen her since the memory loss. She introduces herself to him. He doesn’t remember her. Dena tells Diego that Piza is there to talk to Al. She takes him to observe the negotiations and gives him a little background info on Piza. Diego says he doesn’t remember the man, but his is malaffected at the sight of Piza. Diego gets away from Dena, finds Bernie and asks him if there is someplace where they can go to eavesdrop on Al’s conversation with Piza. Bernie nods and off they go to spy on the two men. Dena sees Mangle and asks her what’s going on with Fernando.

Fernando is with Brother Aaron. FS is filling BA in on what lead him to this point in his life. He gave up everything because he hurt the woman he loves. He is not a religious man, but is seeking God for answers. BA asks Fernando if he wants to join his order. FS questions if God would want a sinner like himself serving him. I think for shock value, Fernando lists all of his wrong doings to Brother Aaron, it is quite a list. He asks BA to help lead him to finding his way.

Maria Pia meets with the Cardinal and tells him that she’s ready to get consecrated. TC questions if her decision is based on all that happened with Fernando. MP tells him that what happened with FS strengthened her faith.

Piza tells Al that he wants to revolt against Monty. Al is suspicious. Piza says that Monty is out of control and believes he’s above the authority of the Crown. Piza lets Al know that he knows about Sara Kali and he tells Al that he knows that Al knows about her as well and probably was part of the group who broke her out of prison. Al says, yes he knew of SK existence, she is Esme’s mother. Piza says that she’s more than that, she’s the rightful heir to the Spanish Crown and when he thinks of the conditions that Monty kept her in, he feels bad for his part in it all.

Bernardo fills Diego in on some of what’s being said because he’s been reading their lips. The two men leave the area of the negotiations and head up to Diego’s bachelor pad. Bernie shows Diego the secret entrance to the Nancy Drew secret passage to the Bat Cave.

Esme tells Dolo that she’s desperate for news of Diego. (Desperate is just another way of being worried, ulcer –1)

Mangle fills Dena in on Fernando’s divestment of his personal property and his naked stroll through town. Dena asks Mangle how she could have let FS do this. Mangle blames Maria Pia for all of if and speaks poorly of her. Dena gets upset and tells Mangle to show respect to MP. Dena goes on, she’s concerned for Fernando’s well being because no matter what he’s done, she loves him (Concerned also another word for worried, ulcer –2 ). Dena leaves Mangle, who now shows no respect for her tia, she mutters that FS and Dena are just a pair of stupids.

Fernando tells BA that he doesn’t have a call to vocation, but he needs a change. FS says he tried to take Maria Pia away from God and he ruined her life, he took her peace. (I might add, I think I'm liking Fernando again, what a good way to give this character a little redemption, remove him from Maria Pia, and let him find himself through God).

Piza gives Al a letter from Esme, and tells him that Esme’s being held in the prison. The letter just fills Al in on Piza’s offer to help, but Esme doesn’t know if he can be trusted, she says she’s leaving that up to Al’s discretion.

Padre Tomas is in the Bat Cave when Diego and Bernie arrive. PT reminds Diego about keeping up the farce of Diego de la Vega as a wimp in order to keep Zorro’s identity hidden. Diego worries about Al and his confrontation with Monty (ulcer –3). PT tells him that Al is a military man, he’ll be able to resolve things. PT and Diego start some swordplay. Diego “wins”, PT says his wounds will heal with Bernie’s help. He gives it a couple of days. Diego asks about his personal life, he wonders about the woman of his dreams. Who is this other woman that PT told him about. PT tells Diego it is best if he remembers on his own. Diego practices with the whip. PT tells Diego he’s gotta go, but asks Diego to behave while he’s gone. Diego has more flashes of Esme flamenco dancing.

Esme has flashbacks about times with Diego. Monty comes to see Esme. He tells her that he’s got proof linking Diego to Sara Kali’s escape. The hideout the gypsies used is owned by Diego. Esme tells Monty that Diego had nothing to do with SK. Monty threatens Esme to get her to talk, anything can happen when you are here in prison. Renzo tells Monty to leave her alone. Monty offers Esme the safety of her unborn child and herself, in exchange for info on SK’s whereabouts.

Mangle feels ill. She pulls out a calendar and realizes that she’s late. How unlucky she is!!!

Al finds Dena crying about FS, but she doesn’t tell him what’s wrong. The two rehash Piza’s visit and the reason for it. Dena doubts Piza is being honest, it must be a trap. Al says that Piza can’t be trusted, but what he says makes a lot of sense (now, to me it seems pretty crazy that a woman kept in an ‘iron’ mask and held in prison for years is the real heir to the Spanish Crown, but to Al it all seems pretty plausible?). Al tells Dena that even though she doesn’t like Piza, he’s going to have to work with him because there isn’t a lot of time to act. Dena it worried about Al and Diego, with Monty all crazy and stuff (ulcer –4). Al tells Dena about Esme in prison. Dena freaks out (I’m sure she’s worried, even though she didn’t say so, ulcer – 5). Al promises to free Esme and Dolores. Yumali overhears this whole conversation, because she’s been lurking around in the background pretty much the entire episode. Yumi goes to her room and puts on her war paint, she’s going to help the de la Vegas.

Dena calms down and tells Al why she was crying. She rehashes about FS going nuts and naked through town. Al tells Dena that FS is the one who killed Regina/Purina. She wants to know how he knows this. He tells her that White Buffalo told him, and she’s Yumi’s grandmother and also Regina/Purina’s. Yes, Yumi and Regina are sisters. Dena is impactada.

Piza’s back at the prison, he’s filling Esme in on what went down with Al. She asks about Diego and Piza tells her he saw him, but he was strange. Diego was distant and didn’t seem interested in finding out about Esme.

Mangle goes to see Monty. Again she’s upset because the guards question her. She makes a fuss about this, and then she tells Monty she’s with child. END OF EPISODE/ ulcer count = 5

Duelo—Monday, April 30—Alina stumbles on a nest of Vipers. Not at Edelmira’s or La Rinconada. Gaspar plays with his frog.

Opening: Luba bidding adieu to Soledad, leaving her with the herbal wrap for her wounded leg. Soledad sighs after she goes.Over at La R. Alina is stuffing her junk into a sack.Back to Soledad, Don Loco comes in drunk, promising her that he won’t interfere in Alina’s wedding. Once she’s gone, he tells her he thinks they’ll be able to return to the love they had when they were newlyweds.

Alina makes her way out into the forest with her sack, Tonkey at her side. She comments to Tonkey that Emilio was right, the forest is very dangerous at night. “And now I can’t trust Luba anymore…” she frets.

Once again to Soledad and Don Loco—Soledad is refusing his advances, replying as she so often does, in each of the zillion times he has done this before, “You’ve hurt me too much for too long. I am going to need at least that long to go back to believing in you.” DL agrees, he says that he will work to regain her trust. “Your daughter will get married and move far away…we can live in the present, day by day…” Soledad shakes her head. “There are too many memories…painful memories.” “I will teach you to forget” says DL creepily. “It’s not easy to forget. I CAN’T forget” says Soledad. “You made a paradise into a living hell with your jealousy.” “That’s over,” says Don Loco. “This is a fresh start, a new opportunity for us. “No, Alvaro, Never” she tells him. “I’m sorry but I will never open my heart to you again. I can’t.” DL says, quietly, “Yes you will.” He leaves her crying, sitting on the bed with her wounded leg.

Over at La R. Max is drowning his sorrows while hearing Carmen screaming in his head, “Damn you, you’ve killed your own son!” like she did earlier in the day when he made the mistake of going into her café with the Auntie Rebecca. (Of all the tequila joints in all the world, you had to walk into mine…) Emilio walks in for a heart to heart with his uncle Max. Max says he’s not up for a chat about the accounting and Emilio says neither is he. “I just arranged to wed Alina to another man” says Emilio. “And I would guess that this “other man” is Orlando, because of what happened between them? Don’t worry, Alvaro will never let that wedding happen.” Emilio shakes his head. “Montellano already gave his consent. There will be no impediment to the wedding.” Max is semi-impactado, or at least he puts down his cigar and takes another swig of brandy.

Gaspar is with his friend, Ms. Frog. He lets her go and yet the frog is not interested in leaving the cave for some reason. Luba walks up and says “Ah, so now you’ve fallen in love with a frog, because she looks just like Thelma!” Gaspar says “No, Mama.” Luba gives the frog a closer look. “Yep, just like that bitch Thelma, even the same body.” She plops into a chair and tells him to stop playing, that she’s really tired tonight. Gaspar (still holding the Frog) asks her how it went over at the Hacienda de Loco. Luba tells him what went down over at the Hacienda. “And then I found out that our poor Flor is going to marry that stupid Lieutenant!” Gaspar thinks this is good news. “I think he was going after my munequita too.” Luba shakes her head, and declares that none of this makes sense. Emilio asks for Flor’s hand to wed Orlando, when it’s he, Emilio, who is dying of love for her. Don Alvaro, who before said he wouldn’t let her wed anybody is now giving his consent. And Orlando has shown himself to be a no good cad---why does he want to marry Flor? This just can’t be good. Gaspar complains that his head is swimming from all the questions. He returns his attention to the frog. Luba swears that if Flor is in trouble she will find a way to help her.

Back to Emilio and Uncle Max. Emilio tells him that Alvaro finally decided to back off from conflict. Max laughs as he pours himself another drink. [Somebody please help me here: He says something like “Alvaro finally decided that his pastry (Pan de Azucar) was his coffee”?? I think he’s trying to suggest that it’s not likely that Alvaro backed off.] Emilio repeats that he talked to DL and he said he would not intervene…but…” “But what?” asks Max. Emilio recounts how Alina asked him to force Orlando to marry him. “And now I regret it. I love her with all of my heart.” Don Max reminds him that Thelma is about to give him a child. Emilio says he knows all that. He thinks he can wait until after the baby’s born. Give the kid his name, set it up for life and then split from Thelma. Don Max shakes his head. “You’ve already given up Alina. Emilio says he knows, but, he’s confused…he wishes he didn’t continue to feel this love for her. And he can’t forgive her for doing the wild thing with Orlando. He abruptly excuses himself and leaves. Max laughs after he’s barely left the room. He’s delighted that Emilio didn’t want to talk over the finances.

Over at Rosita and Braulio’s place, father, daughter and Carmen, Santos’s hottie mom are counting the dough they mean to turn over to Castulo to help them find out what happened to Santos. Braulio is concerned that Carmen not do the deal, that it’s likely that the rat will try to cheat her. Braulio thinks he should do the deal. Carmen refuses. It’s her job as Santo’s mom. She takes the fat stack of bills and bag of coins. Braulio says he’ll accompany her, that it’s not safe for her to be walking around at night with all that lana. He tells his daughter to lock herself in. Yes, it’s great to be a woman in Sierra Escondida…Rosita prays that all go well. Just then there is a knock at the door. It’s Duhlina with her burlap sack.

Santos, who still doesn’t know who he is, has made it over to Edelmira’s and Granillo’s table. Santos asks Grani if he has any information for him. Grani tells him not to be afraid but a big mean jerk was very interested in finding out more about him. Granillo is sure that this guy means Santos harm.

Over at Hacienda de Loco, DL is tucking a sleeping Soledad into bed. He’s talking to her. It’s a one sided conversation as usual and her sleeping form reminds him of how she once loved him, not like now, when she looks daggers at him. (Actually he says “eyes like pistols.”) Suddenly, outside the window bars, we have the ghost of Daddy Loco, with his face all torn up from throwing himself off a cliff. Ghost of Daddy Loco prods Alvaro---“How quickly you have forgotten your anger, your pride, your dignity…” He disappears for a second then reappears in the room beside DL. “Soledad cheated on you, just like your mother cheated on me. And the whole town knows it.” He goes on to say “I’m not going to rest in peace until you give this woman what she deserves.” DL is quivering in his boots. GDL is screaming at him now to “complete his destiny” and winds up with “Kill her! Kill her!” DL pulls his pistol out of it’s holster as we break into commercial.

[The transition that plays with the theme music is one I haven’t seen before—It’s Soledad, wearing a shawl over her head, looking sorrowful and walking around in what looks like a cemetery, with a bunch of candles of gravestones. Oooooh, Don Loco, this could be bad news for you. ]

Back to DL standing over Soledad with his pistol. She stirs in her sleep. He drops to his knees. “I am crazy…I can no longer control myself” he says aloud. [Yes, but which one is the crazy one—the one who hallucinates or the one that was trying to sweet talk Soledad earlier…?]

Alina and Rosita are having their heart to heart at Rosita’s place. Rosita wants to know what is this she’s been hearing about Alina going to marry “the lieutenant?” Alina shakes her head and says that it really does seem that her entire life is a nightmare. Rosita asks if she’s fallen in love with him. Alina gives her a disgusted look and denies it vehemently. “It’s his fault that Emilio now hates me.” Rosita wants to know why and Alina spins her tale of woe about how Orlando and Thelma set a trap for her, drugged her and … “he raped me.” Rosita is impactada with her mouth open. First Carmen, then herself, now her best friend Alina. Yeah it really sucks to be a woman in this town, if you still hadn’t noticed.

Back to Edelmira’s with Santos and Granillo. Granillo mentions that the big mean jerk is a worker from one of the local haciendas, La Rinconada. At the name of the hacienda, Santos gets that zooming sound in his ears as he did when he recalled that he knew a woman named Rose. Grani starts yapping in overdrive not unlike the SA, discharging all her fear of Castulo’s threats on the previous night. Santo says not to worry. In a fit of totally clueless bravado, he swears that he will fix whatever problem he has with “those people” at la Rinconada. He jumps up from the table and leaves. Grani gives a genuinely worried look.

Max and Castulo are in Max’s office in La Rinconada. Max is complaining about how he had to go all over San Mateo buying baby stuff with the SA. “I’ve never been so humiliated.” Castulo cuts to the chase. “Were you able to figure out whether she heard anything?“ Max doubts it. “She was probably just drunk and dropped the glass.” Castulo is not convinced. “Why did she try to hide that she was there?” Max says that the SA is the least of his problems. “I haven’t had a moment of peace since the day that I found out that Santos was my son.” Castulo says “So he was your son.” “Could be, responds Max. After Carmen went away, I didn’t hear anything about her. Later she told me that she lost the baby. But she could have lied. And, Santos is the right age.” Castulo gets a crafty look and says quite pointedly that life sure has it’s ups and downs…He told Castulo to kill Rosita’s baby, HIS (Castulo’s) baby and then he sent him to kill Santos, HIS (Max’s) son. Max doesn’t like this comparison very much. He takes a run at him and pushes up and over his big desk and into a wall. Castulo is quite apologetic.

Over at Edelmira’s CORAL HAS ARRIVED safely from the clutches of the evil nephew Dario. Granillo is happy, Edelmira is happy. Coral tells her that a lot has happened. She wants her old job back for awhile, if Edelmira will have her. Edelmira is elated. Since Coral left the place has been dead. Hugs all around.

Castulo is picking himself and the items from the desk off the floor. Max is also somewhat apologetic. He doesn’t know what’s gotten into himself lately. He’s gotten so sentimental. “Maybe your conscience is speaking” suggests Castulo. “No, it’s not that…says Max. I never wanted a son. Especially not with a woman like her. A poor low, class woman.” “So you are worried that she will raise a stink about it with the authorities?” “Yes” says Don Max. “It’s a good thing that the coyotes ate him. We should go back and check that his bones will can’t be found.” Castulo balks at this. He doesn’t want to go back there. [Because he knows that they won’t find anything…since Santos isn’t dead!] Don Max insists. Tomorrow, they’ll go together look for the remains and bury them.

Rosita and Alina are still chatting. Alina explains that she had reconciled herself to marrying Orlando to help herself and her mother escape SE, but her father found out and threatened her Mother’s life if she went through with it. Rosita points out that DL has threatened this before but has never actually done it. Alina says she feels that this time is different, this time he may actually do it. She doesn’t want to risk it. Alina sums up that this is why she can’t go back to La R. She can’t face marrying Orlando. Rosita responds with her typical “Ay! What a big problem you have Alina! I don’t know how to help you…etc.” Alina asks her if she can stay with her for a few days. Rosita says “of course. But it may not be the best place to hide. We’ve got problems too.” Alina inquires and Rosita fills her in on Santo’s disappearance and how they are sure that Don Max is responsible. Now it’s Alina’s turn to be open mouth impactado.

Over at Hacienda de Loco. Alfonsina is having fun teasing Mariana’s hair to make her look ridiculous. She makes a bunch of insulting comments to her about how pretty she will look for her novio, and how sad it is that he left her in the lurch. Poor Mariana thought bubbles about what a bitch Alfonsina is to do this to her, especially since she is to blame for the whole letter fiasco that has ruined her family. She worries about what has happened to poor Ricardo…God only knows what Alvaro did to him. Next, nasty Alfonsina puts lipstick on her like a clown. Mariana manages to spit in her face. Alfonsina is furious and slaps her hard. [Oooh, Don Loco can’t wring her chicken neck soon enough for me!]

Back to Rosita and Alina again. Alina is indignant. Emilio should know that his Uncle is a murder. Rosita points out that if she tells him, it will get back to Alvaro and everybody that she’s escaping SE. She won’t be able to leave again. Alina remarks on how horrible it is to have this situation, with their hands tied and Don Max, out there free roaming around. Rosita agrees, although she still thinks that Santos is still alive. Alina grasps her hand and tells her she hopes so too.

Alfonsina and [her enormous jugs] are now pushing Mariana’s chair around, knocking it into the bed. She taunts Mariana that her boyfriend died burned to death. Mariana looks sad. Then a thin sound emanates from her throat: “NO! NO!” Alfonsina recoils in horror. “You spoke, stupid! You spoke!” [Looks like Alfonsina is the stupid one, if she was betting that Mariana was going to be completely helpless and unable to communicate forever.] You could say that Mariana is sort of impactada at herself into the break.

[This break features yet another new transition—a lengthy full frame one—of Soledad, dressed in Black struggling with Luba over something in a bottle, breaking away from her and running away with it. This looks intriguing! Maybe Soledad will poison somebody. Hopefully it’s not herself.]Back to the horror movie with Alfonsina and Mariana. Alfonsina grabs Mariana and screams at her to talk again. Mariana can’t. Alfonsina accuses her of faking her illness, that she’s recovered her speech and is secretly hiding it. Mariana isn’t paying attention. She’s thought bubbling about how Ricardo can’t be dead. Alfonsina grabs her by her lipstick covered cheeks and screams some more---that if she ever opens her mouth to talk again, she’ll cut out her tongue!Over in Soledad’s room, she’s slept through all this Don Loco angst, hallucination, whatever. DL is asking for God’s help. “Kill me if you must…but please end this torture.” Soledad now awake and only pretending to be asleep. She hears him say this. It’s raining heavily in SE. Jaime and the men are outside working, in their hats and rain ponchos. Emilio shows up, with his rain poncho and starts talking to the men. At first Jaime won’t turn around. Yes, the doofus is hiding his scar from Thelma’s insane whip attack. Emilio insists he show him his face and immediately he sees the scar. “Who did that to you?” As if in answer, we go to Thelma who is lamenting the imminent birth of “this monster.” She’s in tears, standing next to the crib, asking “Why this imbecile had to cross my path…why did I have to get drunk…why couldn’t I have a normal baby..a healthy baby…Damn …you…damn the day you are born. She sinks to the floor in tears. [Gee, I don’t know Thelma…maybe if you had laid off the hooch, your baby would have stood a chance of being normal]

Outdoors, Emilio is repeating his question to Jaime, “Who did that to you?” Jaime who is stupid like his wife, Vera, tries to float the story that he fell of a horse and cut himself on some rocks. Emilio doesn’t buy it. It doesn’t look like that kind of injury. He insists on knowing if another worker cut him. Jaime is about to make up some other cock and bull story when Ifigenio, who is apparently the smartest worker at la Rinconada (recall that he saw through Thelma and Castulo’s plot to flush out Alina) comes up and says proudly that the workers at La Rinconada never fight. It was Emilio’s wife, Thelma! Ifigenio goes on to say that Thelma did it when Jaime tried to defend Flor. Emilio is probably supposed to be impactado, although it’s hard to tell.

Back to Rosita and Alina. They float various theories about how to find a way to tell Emilio about his murdering uncle. They come up empty.

We’re right back to the men of La R. in the rain. Emilio asks Jaime if it is true. Jaime is all “aw shucks..well maybe.” Ifigenio insists that he tell the truth. Jaime gets some gumption and he lets loose the story about how Thelma treated Alina like crap while Emilio was gone, that the servants had tried to save her by hiding her and when they were caught, Jaime got hit in the face by Thelma with her whip for his trouble. Jaime tacks on to the story how Thelma changed her tune once Emilio was back and even before that with Alina, in order to get her to trust Orlando so that he could get her in the sack. Emilio is livid. He insists that Jaime accompany him back to the hacienda. Jaime looks delighted (not) and shoots a dirty look to Ifigenio. Once back inside the hacienda, Emilio pounds on the door of Thelma’s room. Thelma is laying on the bed. Presciently, she goes over and takes her whip and hides it under the mattress. Emilio accuses her of hitting Jaime, that Ifigenio told him everything. That she did it because they were helping Alina. Thelma looks displeased and her glance goes from one to the other.

Alina is lying awake in a bed at Rosita’s. She’s having an orange flashback of her loco Daddy threatening her mother if she goes through with the wedding.

Back to La R. and the confrontation between Emilio and Thelma with Jaime in the middle. Thelma is claiming that she didn’t do it. Jaime for once has the balls to insist that she did. She turns away and calls him crazy. Emilio wants to know the truth. In her letters she said that she and Alina got along fine and Jaime is telling him differently. Emilio says he can now see how she and Orlando set a trap for Alina. Thelma insists again that Jaime is lying. And besides, he’s always showing up drunk. Jaime protests again that he has never shown up drunk. Thelma goes into her lady of the manor act, “How dare you challenge me in front of my husband?” “Are you ready to swear that you and Isidro have never been drunk?” Stupid Jaime balks at this. Obviously they’ve knocked back a few on occasion. He says “I’d better go.” At Jaime’s flight, Emilio transforms himself into DUHMILIO. “I can’t tell who is telling the truth! he laments.” Thelma wins again!

Back in their servants quarters, Vera and Jaime are hashing out what happened. Vera is even stupider than her husband and suggests that Jaime should have tried to stay out of it “especially since Thelma has changed and is good now.” Jaime challenges this. “That harpy will never change. And the worst of it is, she’ll get back at me for this. You should have seen the look she gave me.” Vera says that she hopes that Emilio thought that he was lying and that’s why he ran away. “That way, you won’t have any problems with la Patrona.” [God, I can’t believe how dumb that is…it reads even dumber than it sounded!] Jaime takes umbrage at this. “You’d prefer that they think me a liar?” “No,” says Vera. “I’d prefer it if the Patrona not get Luba to put a hex on us, like she did on Flor.” [This woman’s brain is swiss cheese.]

Over in Thelma’s room, Thelma is soothing Emilio, who is still saying “I don’t know what to think.” Thelma tries to convince him that Jaime is lying “and that is why he ran away.” Thelma starts into her whine about how Emilio always believes everybody but her. She claims that she doesn’t even have a whip. Emilio questions this. Thelma goes into a frenzy throwing stuff all over the place, daring him to look. She flops on the bed. Emilio walks over and squats at her feet, inches from where the whip is hidden. He says gently, “OK.”

Back at Hacienda de Loco, Mariana is in bed. The hair is back to normal and the lipstick washed off. She’s thought bubbling about how she can’t take anymore . First she loses her daughter, then Jose, now Ricardo. Just then there’s a knock at the door. It’s Hugo. They start a big make out session right in front of her. Mariana closes her eyes. They scurry out of the room. Mariana opens her eyes again and a tear rolls down her cheek. She thought bubbles that she wishes that she could tell Alvaro how this woman is cheating on him.

Back to Thelma and Duhmilio. Thelma is whining on and on about how he still doubts her. Duhmilio says “OK…but I’ll be watching you…blah blah blah. [Sorry, I just can’t take these scenes anymore. Somebody lays down a huge slab of evidence against Thelma, at great personal expense and then it all comes to nothing. This is just pure torture!!] Duhmilio leaves. Thelma says “Damn Jaime! You’re going to pay.”

SA is in her room, getting ready for bed. She reflects that now she knows that Don Maximo not only killed a boy, he killed his own son. “Well, aside from that, he’s almost perfect!” she says excitedly. “It’s better to look at the big picture….He treats me so well! Never has a man treated me so well. He was so attentive! The way that he looks at me…it sends shivers up my spine. Those eyes! So penetrating! Oh, Saint Anthony, what they do to me! What EYES! (ojazos). Ay! Maximo, I will dream of you! She’s now writhing on the bed. [Yes, this is quite disgusting. Now we see where Thelma gets it. She has the morals of an alley cat. ]

It’s the next morning. Over at Hacienda de Loco, Luba arrives and calls out for Adela. Sergio is eating his breakfast in the kitchen. He chokes down his food and is happy to give Luba the news that Adela’s gone, she’s been sacked. Sergio asks her what she wants her for. Luba says “old woman things.” Sergio tells her to beat it but Luba does her witchy act and Sergio pulls back. She’s still got it! She leaves but pauses at one of the gates, to lament to herself that she now has no way of knowing if DL has found THE BOX.

At La R. Stupid Vera tells Orlando that Flor isn’t in her room, or in the garden. Tonkey is missing too! IT must mean that she’s ESCAPED. [Why thank you, Vera for telling Alina’s would be RAPIST that she’s run away!] Orlando is impactado. Amazingly, in the mountain air, Orlando’s cuts and bruises from last week’s fighting have almost healed.Over at Braulio and Rosita’s, Rosita wakes up and Alina is gone. She pads out into the kitchen her slippers and a fetching pair of pajamas. Braulio is eating breakfast at the table. Rosita asks about Flor. Braulio says he never saw her come or go. Cut to Alina, out in the countryside, with Tonkey and her big burlap sack.

Emilio is in his robe. Orlando walks in and tells him that he’s looked all over the hacienda for Alina and she’s nowhere to be found. Orlando says he’s puzzled as to why she would go. “She got what she wanted, to marry me!” Emilio says he’s sure that DL kidnapped her to prevent the wedding. “He’s not going to get away with making a fool out of me!” Orlando gives one of his trademark smirks. This is pretty good. Not only does he get Alina but he can get Emilio to fight for her too.

Over at Hacienda de Loco, Hugo is getting dressed. Alfonsina comes in. Hugo asks her who takes care of Mariana when she leaves. “No one” says Alfonsina. I’ve just come over to tell you something. “Do you remember that bracelet that I found in Jose Gomez’s bed?” “It was me. I put it in the bed of the foreman.” Hugo grabs her. “Are you crazy, Alfonsina? Why did you do that? And why are you telling me this now!” Alfonsina sweet talks him and gives him a big smooch. “I just wanted to tell you so that you’d know everything.” “We’re together in this.” She begs him to take her with him. Hugo says no, she’s got to stay and take care of Mariana. Alfonsina complains that she’s sick of taking care of her. “It would be better if she were to die.” She flounces out of the room. Hugo looks impressed at her cold-bloodedness. Yep, I would watch my six, if I were you Hugo.

Adela and Nora are at Adela’s cute little cottage. Nora is arranging a basket of laundry to take to the river. Adela begs her to let her do it. She wants to get her mind off of Soledad. Nora tells her to be careful of the hunters traps along the river. We get a shot of Adela walking along a path and avoiding one big hole. Yes it is THE SAME HOLE we saw last week with THE BOX glowing inside. It looks like the same shot, so they saved some money here. Adela sidesteps it and walks on.

Over at La Rinconada, Orlando in his civvies is chasing Emilio in his green army fatigues. Orlando is screaming at Emilio, asking him what he’s going to do. Emilio tells him he’s going to Hacienda de Loco to find Alina. Orlando repeats the same old stuff “he’s dangerous, let me go with you, etc.” Emilio says no. He gets on a horse and leaves.

Meahwhile, Alina has hit a rocky part of the trip. She comes upon a bunch of snakes. She starts screaming and jumps up on some rocks, begging Tonkey to stay away. Couldn’t she just have run away from the snakes? Now she’s right in front of them. I guess that’s why we call her DUHLINA!

Over at the hermit psychiatrist’s, the Doctor and Santos are drinking tea. The Doctor is telling Santos that he doesn’t know much about the people at la Rinconada. He tells him he knows that the owner is an Army Engineer who is involved with the building of a highway through the mountains. Santos repeats the word “highway” and speculates that perhaps the engineer knows him. Maybe he’s the guy from la R. who is looking for him. Santos recalls being on the highway, maybe working on it. He asks if the Doctor knows his name. The Doctor remembers it: Captain Valtierra. “Valtierra”—that’s it! He wanted to kill me!” “If he tries to kill me again, I’ll kill him first!” The Doctor looks impactado, although it’s hard to tell with all that hair.

Gaspar is out in the woods. He cuts his hand on a plant and kicks the plant for hurting him. He hears Flor screaming.

Don Max and Castulo are also out and about, looking for Santos’ bones. The horse Don Max is riding suddenly starts bucking. He has to fight to control it. They ride on.

Back to the snake pit--Gaspar takes Alina’s bundle and pushes the snakes away with a stick. He grabs Alina and she faints in his arms.

At Hacienda de Loco, DL is tying up Soledad for the day. He tells her it’s for her own good, so that she “not do something she’ll regret.” She begs him to untie her, “as a show of good faith that he’s willing to change.“ Instead, he kisses her and puts a gag in her mouth as well. Back to Castulo and Don Max. Castulo pretends that there is a jaguar in the bushes and he draws his pistol. He shoots the imaginary jaguar and Don Max’s horse goes nuts. He runs out of control, throwing Don Max, who rolls down a hill and crashes into a rock. It’s the same arrangement that Rosita had, except that she managed to hit the rock with her belly. In this case, Don Max hit his head on the rock.

Hugo and DL are sipping Tequila in DL’s office. DL’s telling him that he is going to section a parcel of land to build a house on. Alfonsina had asked him for it and he thinks that this is fair compensation. Hugo agrees. Just then DUHmilio bursts through the door, trailing the useless Sergio who once again was unable to stop him. DUHmilio demands to know where DL has taken Alina. It’s DL’s turn to be open mouthed impactado.
