Refugio Para el Amor #148 Wed 11/7/12 Rosa Rages, Lovers Kiss and Anvils Align and Prepare to Fall
LO NUEVO
Jana bravely defies Rosa and says I’m not going to marry Bore-us. The assembled guests freeze and those in the know wait for Rosa’s expected explosion. Bore-us leaps into the silence calling Jana-- Flaquita, which annoys her so much she snaps don’t call me Flaquita. My name is Jana. Rosa tells Jana she is ridiculous and demands to know what this is all about. Jana who has stiffened her spine tells her I don’t want what you want mama. I love you more than anyone in the world but you can’t live your life again through mine. This does not go down well and Rosa tells her if you don’t marry Bore-us, I swear you will be sorry.
Lorenzo talks on the phone to Luci. She tells him she understands so much. He is really down and she suggests he come to the pueblo, he can be with her, amah, Magda and Ariche. They can help. She knows how he feels; it is the same way with her and Rod. He wants to know if she has been able to forget even a little and she tells him no not for one second. Lorenzo tells her it is the same for him and he can’t get Jana out of his mind or his heart. Now he is going to have to learn to live without half of his heart.
Back at the engagement dinner from hell, Max tells Jana you are putting us all in an uncomfortable position. The reason for this dinner was to ask for your hand. Rod says Papa I think Bore-us and his parents should listen to what my sister has to say. Conny starts to say I’m sure it’s uncomfortable, but before she can go on Rosa snarls at her not to interfere. When and if someone asks for Melissa’s hand then she can say something. Not to be outdone Gagme pipes up that it is healthy for Jana to tell the truth before an important step like marriage because after you get married it is very difficult to discuss these things and shoots Rod a toothy smile, isn’t it my love. He just adds very difficult.
In Het Het Paz questions Luci, what happened? Why is she so sad after talking to Lorenzo? Luci tells her she doesn’t like it that Lorenzo is suffering. Lorenzo is suffering but why, what is wrong? Is it Jana? Luci tells her yes he is lost in love her. Paz says poor Lorenzo perhaps it's better to shed tears now rather than later what with all that the Señora Torreslanda is capable of doing. Magda says she agrees with Paz. That Lorenzo is a good boy, a good worker and honest. He deserves someone to love and care for. Paz says he shouldn’t be looking so high. Look at the suffering he found. Luci says what she most wants is that he doesn’t suffer like me. Magda says the Torreslandas and Jacintos are like oil and water. They never mix, they always end up separated. They are never together.
At the dinner Rosa says it’s just nerves for all of us, the emotion of the moment. Bore-us’ madre agrees that it is just nerves, right princesa? Bore-us’ padre says yes it is just nerves that made you say you won’t get married. Bore-us says, you never said anything when I asked you to marry me. Jana answers that she did say yes but she wasn’t convinced. Jana goes on, indicating Bore-us and Rosa, you two decided everything for me without giving me the opportunity to make my own decisions, without knowing what I really want. Where does it stop? I don’t know what I want for the rest of my life. Rosa says a good marriage is the only thing for the rest of your life. Rod steps in and says let Jana say what she feels. Jana continues, you mama, you set the date for my wedding without asking me, you planned this dinner. Jana tells Bore-us you decided we would get married without knowing if I wanted to be a professional and now your parents are deciding where we are going to live. Everything is prepared for a wedding I do not want.
Jana isn't finished yet and yells at her mother, this dress you bought me is the same as yours. Why? Because you liked it. You’re living again through me. She ends her tirade telling her mother my feelings aren’t important. Señora Bore-us says she has had enough of this but Bore-us says not me, mama. He asks Jana once and for all do you want to marry me. Obviously nothing short of a load of bricks falling on him gets through to this dope. Jana tells him point blank, no, I don’t want to marry you. Oscar and Conny exchange discrete smiles, Max and Rod keep theirs under control while Gala smirks.

Amor Bravío #13 (Uni 8) Wed 8/22/12 The Great Escape, and Javert is Back! How We Wish Camila Would Dive to Freedom Too!
Before beginning this recap, greetings to the entire Caray Caray family including recappers, regular posters and all other lurkers. I am happy to have the opportunity to be a recap trainee, following the impressive talent of the established Caray!Caray! recap team. I have been a faithful Caray!Caray! reader from viewerville since I discovered this blog back during the "Destilando Amor" days. Mind you, my viewing obsession started even earlier while watching "Tu o Nadie" in Mexico. Since then, I never follow a Uni telenovela without also reading Caray!Caray! recaps and I frequently find myself laughing aloud (and having to explain why to anyone in earshot of me). It has been great fun and a fascinating study of telenovela culture. On to the recap.
We begin with one quick scene of Daniel running in the Chilean forest with the Chilean police in close pursuit. His cellmate has died from being shot and he is forced to leave him behind.
Back to Mexico for the long ride home in the car with Alonso still blathering at Camila about going to Viv's party without him. According to him, her job is to stay at his side and support him through this, er, difficult time and through his insecurity. He keeps gesturing towards and looking down at his lap as if there is a third member of this conversation. He adds that this problem is as much hers as it is his and she is just as responsible for it as he is. All reasoning on Camila's part is pointless as it is going in one big Al ear and out the other. At this point, let me just weigh in with all of the discussion regarding Al's overall similarities to other people and creatures...After careful consideration, I have concluded he is slightly Tony Randall, more Tony Perkins (similar mumsy issues) and a smidgeon of Mel Gibson (in the eyes and recorded temperament).
Back in Chile, Abe is awakened by a call from the Chilean prison staff, letting him know there has been a prison break. Abe is on it and declares he will dash down to the command post in minutes.
Back at the hacienda, after a very wearing and long car trip home, we are sure, Camila tells Alonso that the farce of a marriage is over. Alonso attempts to rationalize the craziness by saying all couples go through these types of thing. Camila isn't buying it. In the next attempt at rationalizing, Alonso declares that this idea must all be the result of Camila being around that "muy liberal" and divorced photographer, Vivi. Since Viv is single, she must be putting ideas in Camila's head to lure her into a decadent single marital status. Camila of course, denies this to no avail. Note to Camila - girlfriend, when Al is in crazy mode give up reasoning with him.
Cut to Natalia's mom, Amanda, telling Natalia to consider getting another job since everything is upside down in El Rancho Malquerido. Amanda points out that Alonso doesn't exactly trust Natalia, also rumor has it that Camila and Al's honeymoon marriage is more like the Luna de Manicomio, and that ownership of the ranch is pretty shakey right now. Natalia waves off Mom's concerns saying she can handle it and they pay her pretty well (in money and chisme). Mom goes to the fallback position of suggesting Natalia find a good man to take care of her. Umm, Wasn't that the whole plan behind Camila marrying Al?
Back to the happy couple. Alonso further blathers that the pressure of the "misappropriated" inheritance is causing him this stress and to act in this way. Not just that, but there is so much pressure from all the people he is responsible for taking care of and protecting, Camila, Agustina, Maja, etc. and that no one appreciates him. Camila says, "you're a great guy, but love is about trust and er sexuality" and clearly this is not happening.
Back at the prison break, Daniel runs through the dense foliage pursued by the prison guards and their dogs. He manages to make it out into the open to .... a cliff. What will he do?
But first, back at Abe's office. Abe has now become Chile's version of Javert (Les Miz) on his righteous quest to find the escaped prisoner as the new mission of his life. The guards and staff tell him that Daniel has pulled a technical fast one on them and erased all computer info about him which will delay their being able to track him and which then brings Abe's ire a notch higher.
BAck to Daniel and the cliff. Daniellooks back and forth and then ... aaayeeeee!!!!!... he jumps (with a score of about five in my estimation). The cameras are hard at work, he is actually filmed hitting the surface and plunging below the surface, bubbles and all. The soldiers shoot at him jumping and, of course, miss him. Daniel recovers and starts to swim, and swim and swim.... Many of the following scenes continue this theme, just so you know in advance. The scenes cut into Daniel swimming freestyle, Daniel sleeping on a rock out at sea while his face is submerged, Daniel seeing land in the distance and Daniel finally dragging himself onto the sand to collapse once again. I am telling you this just in case I am a little out of order. Someone forgot to tell the writers and editors this was day two of my training as a blogger.
Meanwhile, Dionisio is growling into the phone at Isadora that his plans in Chile were dashed and there was a prison break while he was trying to get in to see (and off) Daniel. He hopes Daniel was not one of the ones who escaped, because this would really throw a wrench into his plans. Dionisio and Isadora's eyes glitter with adrenaline as they consider plan B.
Swim scene.
Back at the Hacienda, the next morning, Camila and Agustina have a mother daughter talk. Agustina complains she heard the happy couple fighting all the way in her room last night. She tells Camila she knew this would happen if Camila went to Viv's party alone. Camila gets to the point saying this marriage may very well be a mistake. Mom begs to differ saying Alonso is a nice guy. Camila agrees "sin dudo" (really?) but adds he just isn't the right "nice guy" for her (remember that line ladies when you need a smooth breakup line). Camila says she needs to go to town to apologize to Vivi for last night's scene. She is going alone despite metiche mom offering to go to try to avert another scene with Alonso.
Swim scene.
Scene switches to the kitchen where Piedad is cooking and the strange sarape guy Leoncio is sitting at the table, sans sarape, finally. Luzma, her daughter, comes in and is asking to go to el centro with her friends. Teenage angst ensues when Sarape Guy (girl's Tio Leo) tells her her skirt is too short. Mom agrees saying Tio Leo is just taking care of the pair of them. The girl replies with predictable indignation. Girl proceeds to leave the kitchen and call "mi amor" to cancel some clandestine meeting. Look like Tio Leo is on to Luzma. Tio Leo tells mom that he tells Luzma what he does because he doesn't want girl to end up like mom did... back story on this to come later.
Another part of the hacienda has Natalia and Alonso together planning the day when Agustina comes into the room. When asked about Camila's whereabouts, metiche mom spills the beans that Camila went to town to apologize to Vivi for the scene created at last night's party. Al gets edgy, comes up with a plan and demands Natalia go to the florist and have flowers delivered to the house for Camila.
Camila, in town, is at her first stop, which is apparently at the town church starting with the obligatory prayer to the Virgen of Guadalupe to help her out of her confusion.
Back to Abe/Javert and the guards discussing Daniel's escape. Guard informs Abe that Daniel escaped by jumping off the cliff. Dratt, says Abe, that Daniel is a good swimmer. Nonetheless, Abe will find Daniel, dead or alive, no matter what.
Back at the church, where Camila knocks and asks Padre Baldomero if she can talk and confess. Camila tells Padre she isn't sure if what she is about to confess is a sin or not, but that she needs help. She thinks she should not have married Alonso as he has now shown her a completely different side of himself that she is none to happy about. He is controlling (creepy), possessive (creepy), oh and she mentions has "su problema". Here I nearly fell off the chair wondering if she was really going to talk about "su problem" with Padre? Camila proceeds to get straight to it using euphemisms like "we have not yet completed our marriage" and "I haven't been fully completed by Alonso as a man" etc....
Somewhere along this discussion, the scene cuts back to Daniel, stranded on the beach, staggering up the sand stealing someone's jacket and who knows what else.
Back to the church. Padre Baldomero, by this time, is doing a good job holding back a choke and proceeds to tell her that he imagines this must be an important source of Al's difficulties and frustration. He says he is not an expert in these things (in telenovelas you can never be too sure) and that she needs to give the marriage time. She needs to be patient, caring, and affectionate with Alonso and things may very well resolve themselves. I proceed to slap my forehead with a "really Padre?" but remember this is telenovela talk and get back into my chair.
Somewhere between the church scenes we see Daniel in two different scenes. First he is boarding a boat. He is asked by the shipmate checking in passengers if he has papers, he replies "no" and without pause, the shipmate lets him on, pointing to the paperless people stowaway passenger section of the boat.
In another scene on the boat, we see Daniel swabbing the deck and gazing at the ship's flag of Mexico. This jogs Daniel's memory of his prisonmate's hypothesis of Daniel's recent downturn in luck. He points out that just as Daniel received an inheritance, he ends up being accused of murder. He continues to wisely suggest to Daniel (who isn't impressing us with his quick analytic skills here) his theory that "he who inherits a ton of money may incur the the resentment of those who did not" (i.e. whoever is next in line to Daniel's new inheritance may want Daniel out of the picture). This prisoner has further impressive knowledge of Mexican estate law explaining that Daniel has a year to claim the inheritance or else it goes to the next person in line. Daniel being a good guy makes a strong statement that he hopes it is not true, but if this Camila Monterde is behind all of this he will make her pay for it (split scene with photo of unsuspecting Camila).
Back at Viv's apartment, Camila has arrived to say she is sorry. Gracious Viv says no worries, but that you, girl, have a grave problem. She even boldly asks why do you put up with it. Camila responds that no one wants to accept that a marriage is a mistake. Vivi says a short marriage is even worse, but Camila who has been tracking all the "dias despues" says, actually we have been married for months. Vivi astutely points out that Camila sure does not look happy. All of the sudden who stumbles out of a back bedroom but the Rafael the writer. Vivi asks if he slept well leading Camila to make "assumptions" and look pointedly at Viv.
Back at the boat, Daniel is swabbing and a shipmate asks where he is from. Daniel makes up a name Andres Duarte (the former prisonmate since shot and killed during the escape) and shuts down the niceties saying he doesn't need friends. Matey doesn't think this is too friendly and proceeds to dump a bucket of water on the freshly swabbed deck to annoy "Andres". Glares ensue and we say to ourselves, this could be a problem.
BAck at the Viv's place she clarifies that Rafael is staying in the guest room while he is looking for a place to rent. The girls confirm the nature of the platonic relationship by cleverly using special finger talk to indicate "together like, you know".
Back in Chile, ever helpful Dionisio follows up with Abe as the official representative for the Monterde family. He is asking to help in the search for Daniel on behalf of the familia Monterde. They discuss something about the inheritance. Abe declines Dionisio's help and sends him packing.
Back at Viv's apartment, things liven up and Viv invites all for chilaquiles and coffee and a good time is had by all. Somewhere in this scene Vivi asks what we in viewerville all want to know too, "who named the ranch Malquerido (and why)?". Camila doesn't seem to know the answer to this says she will inquire from her mom.
Back at the ranch, a hungry Alonso and Agustino are wondering where Camila is. Alonso points out how rude it is to have been kept waiting without word from Camila. Camila walks in the door apologetic about a late arrival explaining her whereabouts. She notices the huge bunch of roses on the table (much better florist than Rogelia in LQNPA had) and is directed to a card which basically reads "Sorry and I will never do this again". We in viewerville know he really means "I need to rein in my general creeptitude and make nice to Camila or else the scheme will go bust and mummy will be real mad. And when mummy is mad, things just don't "work right"". Camila is touched by the card and hugs hubby loco while Agustina gushes and smiles.
Natalia comes to get Alonso to answer a call in the other room. Dionisio is calling from Chile, announcing he will be returning to the ranch tomorrow. He tells Alonso that things have not gone as planned and he will be there to tell them the bad news.
Back at Vivi's, she and Rafael discuss the future of Camilas invites to them to visit the ranch. Vivi cautions Rafael about going out to the ranch since Alonso is none too fond of him but Rafael throws caution to the wind and plans to take Camila up on her offer to host them at the ranch. We begin to wonder if the girls will be doing finger talk again in the future.
Isadora and Alonso are back in her apartment and Alonso tells Isadora that she needs to find a pretext to be at the house when Dionisio arrives with the news. Isadora (aka Nora Bates) starts up with talk about "the problem" (which of course can do nothing but aggravate "the problem"). Alonso gets into his psycho mode covering his ears and begging mummy to stop this talk. Isadora cannot believe that Al hasn't whipped the little lady into shape by now and have her obeying his every word.
Back at Amanda's hotel, Amanda is busy serving and in walks Padre Baldomero for a meal of tamales. Amanda corners Padre to ask what is up with Daniel, Agatha's son. She says she knows that Agatha would be very sad if she knew what was happening to her son right now. Natalia drifts in inquiring "hijo de quien" forcing Amanda to change the subject so Miss Nosey will go away. Natalia happily changes the subject into gossiping about the flowers that Alonso had to send Camila to say he is sorry. Padre is wondering what Alonso needs to be sorry about.
Back at the boat, Daniel looks at his ringless finger and the moon and tells himself how much he misses Marian Shipmates are poised to accompany him in song if necessary. No song, just reminiscing about Marian.
Back at the hacienda Isadora comes to visit Agustina. She builds a little intrigue asking Agustina for a big favor. What is it? She want Agustina to teach her how to knit. It is a thinly veiled excuse for Isadora to be at the ranch when Dionisio arrives. Agustina is mighty pleased to do this as they can prepare booties and things for the soon-to-arrive grandchild together. Dionisio drives up to the hacienda to update the family on the news from Chile regarding Daniel Acosta and the prison break. He steps out of the car while Alonso approaches, proceeds to ignore Alonso and slurps all over Camila This does not go unnoticed by Alonso and Tio Leo sarape guy.
Last scene on the boat, Daniel is again swabbing the deck and the shipmate with attitude returns. He dumps trash on the freshly cleaned deck and a fight ensues. Someone in charge of the ones without papers breaks it up and reminds them that they don't have papers. We wonder where this storyline will go.
Last scene back at the hacienda, With the gang all together, Dionisio tells them that Daniel is now a fugitive from justice and still stands accused of trying to kill his wife and child. Hopeful faces suggest that now the inheritance can go to Camila. However, Camila dashes all hope by saying that if Daniel has met his demise, then the inheritance should go to his wife and child. Crestfallen looks all around.
Avances: Dionisio and Isadora plot, Alonso needs respect and Daniel has arrived in town.

Una Familia Con Suerte #167-168 Fri 3/16/12 Love Declared, Love Denied, Who's My Daddy, Con, Ado and Nappy Bring the Funny
The Refried:
Dona Fer wants to reconcile Pancho and Rebe
Midory apologizes to Arnold. He accepts.
Nappy tells Candy he wants babies with her and has a vision of what the baby looks like.
Pina and Vins reconcile.
The New:
Pina and Vins declare their love for each other and many smoochies.
Enzzo tells Chela he will be a part of the baby's life and the baby will know who he is.
Pancho reveals to the whole family Dona Fer is his Mama and their Grandma for realz. Many hugs all around.
Vins congrats Enzzo for the baby he is having with Chela.
Pancho tells Candy that Dona Fer is his Mama and that he is not her blood brother. Meanwhile Nappy is watching them on CC tv and cries as they talk to each other and wipes his streaming eyes with a silk hankerchief. Pancho tells Candy he still considers her his sister and she is still a part of the family.
Pina is very happy to be back with Vins and tells Freddy that she and Vins are not divorcing. Freddy reminds her about the alarms, the other women, etc. Pina tells Freddy nothing will separate her and Vins again.
Chacho goes to the office to see Sandrita and tells her he loves her. She says same to you and they kiss through a lollipop.
Lupe and Tomas talk. He thanks her for doing so much to set him free, he's like to try again with her, but she doesn't know yet, and then he tells her he is applying at the Police Academy.
Under a smiling slice of moon, Pina and Vins remember all the good times of their marriage. Many smoochies. Vins carries Pina upstairs and the house starts a rockin. In the morning they are all smiles.
Rebe and Pancho wait for an elevator. Pancho tries to talk to Rebe but she keeps her distance and is very cool and business like with him.
Dona Fer wants to make Pancho her heir and head of her business, but Pancho tells her things are moving way too fast and he can't accept the changes all at once.
Pina and Vins continue to be amazed how they still love each other.
Karina corners Freddy at school and tries to put a liplock on him. He pushes her off and says he is late for class. She asks why he isn't going to LA to school.
He says because he doesn't want to leave Ana and besides he is just friends with Karina and so long sister. She isn't happy.
Pina wants to go with Vins to Candy's wedding so that Candy can see for herself that they have reconciled. Vins accepts but wants Pina to be part of the plan in getting Pancho out of Avon.
I forgot to add that Concepcion is going back home, cause Vins moved back into his house with Pina.
Dona Fer tells Pancho his dad didn't want to take responsibility for Fernanada being pregnant, and abandoned her. Her parents were fit to be tied and she gave him up for adoption. Fernanda tells Pancho his father's name is Demian Corcuera.
Lidia comes to see Enzzo, but he is preoccupied with Chela and the pregnancy, so Lidia tells him they are through and wishes him luck and a great future with the baby. Lidia goes to see Rebe and tells Rebe that Chela is pregnant. Rebe thinks that Pancho is the baby daddy, but Lidia tells her it is Enzzo.
Rebe looks relieved. She still doesn't want to get back with Pancho, too much excess baggage.
Chela thinks to herself: she is all alone - she should have appreciated Enzzo more.
Pancho goes to look for his Dad.
Enzzo comes over to Chela's with a boatload of maternity books, she asks if he needs help, he tells her he is fine and then drops the books. She helps him pick them up and their hands touch as they gaze into each other's eyes...
The contact breaks and Enzzo shows her the books he brought. He asks how far along she is, and she says five weeks. He gets a book and shows her what the baby looks like now. She is very happy and he looks happy too.
Then she says she wants to ask him something. He says ask away. She wants another chance with him. He tells her he doesn't know cause he is scared, doesn't want to raise his hopes too high again, and doesn't want to suffer like he did before.
Ana tells Freddy to let his Moms know that she is sick of her interference in their relationship and to take care of it.
Pancho goes to his dad's office. He is pacing the waiting room and finally gives the secretary his card. Demian deigns to see him.
Pancho is not impressed. He looks like an older version of Pancho, but with a bald pate and long stringy hair. He laughs like Pancho, scratches himself like Pancho, and grimaces like Pancho. Pancho wants to know why he abandoned Dona Fer. Demian can barely remember her, and then does, barely. Pancho finds him very arrogant and a jerk.
Demian tells Pancho he was married and so had no obligation to Fernanda. Pancho says: "At least I had a great dad, Francisco Lopez, and now a great Mom, Dona Fer!" Pancho leaves and after Pancho closes the door Demian says No Manches and laughs like Pancho.
Rebe meets Pepe, Lupe, Ana and Temo for lunch and she brings Temo a laptop. They ask if she will ever get back with Pancho, but she doesn't know. She would come over to the house, but says it is better that they meet outside of the house and she still likes them.
Chacho and Pancho play basketball and Pancho says he doesn't know what to do about Rebe cause she hates him and he lurvvves her. Chacho tells him there is a thin line between love and hate, and that Pancho should fight for her as hard as he can. Everyone knows they still love each other, but they have to work at it.
Pancho goes to Rebe's office and brings her a bunch of big pink flowers, but she isn't there. He sits down and writes a note asking for her forgiveness for being a jerk and that he loves her still. He leaves the card and the bunch of flowers on her desk.
Pancho tells Dona Fer he met his Dad and what the heck did she see in him anyway? She says she was young and thought she loved him. In storms Rebe and she tells Pancho just cause he bought her flowers and professed his love doesn't mean she if forgiving him anytime soon, and that they need to stay professional. Dona Fer gets in between them as they shout at each other. Rebe leaves, and Pancho tells Dona Fer he doesn't think Rebe will ever forgive him.

Triumph of Panic - Introduction
Let me introduce myself.
I am Sara.
And I'm
I'm a Spanish teacher living in the South. I promise I'll do my best, but Univision doesn't seem to have great closed captioning in my neck of the woods so sometimes I miss things. (Like 90% of Milagros' and JuanJo's lines...but I sort of tune them out...and LindaHO...but I pledge to you to pay closer attention.) I know, Spanish teachers should know everything. Ask me about South American and Spanish Literature, I may be able to help you. Apparently listening and speaking weren't that important waaaay back when I was studying in college.
(BTW, I use parenthetical statements a lot.)
I am looking forward to this ride. Y'all better, buckle up. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Sortilegio: Hello from a new recapper
I'm new to the Caray, Caray! blog (and to the blogosphere, for that matter) and so I'm just posting a test post to see where it will show up and also to say hello. I'm looking forward to blogging this - it looks like a tremendous amount of fun and I've loved the comments I've seen from the readers.
Hasta pronto - I'll be blogging Sortilegio on Monday, October 19.
Saludos y besos,

Sortilegio - Hello Telenovela Lovers!
Several years ago I had what I thought was a novel idea. :) (I seriously have to roll my eyes now that it was a novel idea.) I would learn Spanish by watching Spanish Television and listen to Spanish in my car as I drove from place to place with my job.
I started recording a show but as I flipped stations my hubby said he would be more apt to watch if I record this one (that he saw pass by) instead of the one I was recording. So I changed my recording, and soon had about 30 or so episodes. Trying to get the television from hubby who likes football isn't easy.
Hubby had to leave town for week and I had a weekend marathon that took me to the first time Leti and Don Fernando were together. I became a LFMB addict. Yes, an addict. Hubby watched with me when he came back, at least for a few months. I had missed months in the beginning because of my timing but I sure started watching at the best time. Of course, I could understand practically nothing, so I searched and searched on the WEB, and finally came across Caray, Caray, where I could learn what I missed, and I have been grateful for this site ever since. I did have a very difficult time getting over my disappointment with how LFMB played out, but I was stuck to the very painful end.
Since then I have been silently with you all through Pasión, Tontas, MEPS and I can't remember what others. I bought several full length telenovelas including Betty la Fea, L FMB, Pasion de Gavilanes and cut versions of Alborado, Amor Real to name a few. You have all helped me turn the light bulb on with your recaps and comments. Thank all of you for your dedication and hard work, and Melinama for starting Caray, Caray!
Some of my time has been freed up recently and I thought that I would try to give back. I am going to attempt to recap Sortiliego on Wednesdays. Note that I did not say a good recap. I am sure I really have no idea what I am in for, and if any of you recappers have any advice, I sure could use it. I don’t have a beanie, but I had instructions somewhere on how to make one. I could use help though, with some instructions on how to post this so that it goes to the right place.
Gracias.

MY NAME IS CARLOS AND I'M A TELENOVELA ADDICT
Wanting more I found the perfect tutor, thanks to a pt. who is a high school Spanish teacher. She referred me to a beautiful (I'd probably hit on her if I weren't such a gentleman and didn't need a tutor so badly ) Latina, originally from Guadalajara who is a retired Spanish professora. We've studied together for at least 6 yrs. She asked me at the beginning what I wanted to learn and I told her that I wanted to master the Spanish language...so she's locked in until I exit stage left.
We've read and discussed, I say with pride, fairly extensively and diversely including poetry of Pablo Neruda, Novelas of Gabriel Garcia Marquéz, including of course Cien Años de Soledad, writings of Jorge Borges and Sor Juana de la Cruz, plays of Federico Garcia Lorca, a precious little Novelita by Pedro Antonio de Alarcon, el Sombrero de Tres Picos, as well as more contemporary works, el Sombra del Viento by Carlos Ruiz Zafón and Detectives Salvages by Roberto Bolaño. At the moment we are a bit less than halfway through 2666 also by Roberto Bolaño.
I've watched way too many TNs, even for someone learning Spanish to justify. My name is Carlos and I'm a TN addict. I discovered Caray Caray while looking to order some Cocolbosh (a mythic TN chocolate product). I lurked, eventually I commented and here I am. I absolutely adore un Gancho al Corazón, and hope that you'll join me here in reliving what happens each Mon. night.

A Tonto for Tontas
Actually, I originally posted under the name Por Otro Lado, but I wanted people to know I was a guy, so I had to find a new name. At the time, I was mainly watching FELS, and since my real name is John (oh darn, I let that slip out!), I could have been Juan something, but since the main character in FELS is Juan, I had to go a different direction. Now you know.
I've been learning Spanish for a little less than two years, listening to CD's in the car, watching Destinos, and many other methods, but of course my favorite method is watching telenovelas. I first started watching LFMB and Destilando, both of which were in the middle, and understood very little other than who were the good guys and the bad guys, who was whose hija, etc. Hopefully I've improved a little since then. I didn't find Caray Caray until those other shows were over, but I'm glad I did.
These days I'm interested in everything Spanish and Latino - the tv shows, the music, the food, even the political issues. I especially like the music, because music is my other main hobby. I love opera, bluegrass (I play guitar, banjo, mandolin and a little fiddle), progressive rock, jam band music, techno, and now rock en español, salsa, and even ranchera (spelling corrected now). I also play electric guitar (Jimi Hendrix style!), piano, bass, and recorder, and now that I'm getting into ranchera, I'm thinking of learning the accordion!
Unfortunately I have a normal job, which greatly cuts down the time for my hobbies :)
Looking forward (with some trepidation) to doing my first recap this week!

Testing One, Two . . . And Introduction
I'd also like to introduce myself to you guys. My name is Melissa, and I've been a lurker for quite awhile now, back to the Alborada days. I usually post after the "fin" of a novela to thank the dilligent and talented recappers for their efforts that make us laugh everyday.
My husband is from Mexico City, we've been married almost five years and speak close to 80 percent Spanish in our house on a daily basis. I rarely watch English-speaking television (although my husband does), with the exception of stuff on the History or National Geographic Channels, and Desperate Housewives - strange mix, I know! Even prior to meeting my husband I had a passion for Mexican history, mostly pre-Columbian, Nahua (Aztec). My family background is a little less straightforward. My father is Italian/Catholic and my mother is Jewish. Needless to say, there are mountains of wonderful food in our houses especially this time of year.
I don't watch novelas with CC's, and don't have any problem understanding what's going on, with the exception of certain cliches, Mexican dichos and the like, that I haven't heard before. So, I'd appreciate any help with those from anyone who wants to add.
Please feel free to give me any suggestions about how to make my recaps better - there's no way in h*ll that my recaps will ever be as good as Beckster's - what an act to follow!! Also, thanks for giving me the chance to do this Melinama - I'd been thinking about volunteering for a while and was always too nervous.
See you next Thursday!
