Dinero Thurs. Aug. 26, '10 Love Is A Many-Splendoured Thing...

Except When It's Not....

And it certainly wasn't tonight. Rafa's in an anguished rage over seeing Ale in Marco's arms. Jaime is still an unshaven mess, half-starved and unloved ,as Julieta refuses to forgive him. Dandy is equally bereft, even though Susana seems to like his present (she retrieved it from the trash after all). Pepeto is being blamed for Rosaura's marital woes ,even though he can't decide whether she likes him or hates him. And Jimenez? well, he can't even get a civil word from his wife's picture, much less the lady herself.

So the question for tonight is: Who Do Women Treat Us So Badly? (Male readers, you're welcome to offer opinions. We promise to listen.)

Now, back to our episode as it unfolded tonight. Rafa and Ale have been exchanging wounds. Every time he offers to give her a ride she says no thanks, MI ESPOSO (flash the wedding ring) is picking me up.

Rafa: But, do you love your husband?
Ale: What do you care?
Rafa: Are you happy with him?
Ale: What do you care?

Just as our galan is about to answer that question, Marco busts in, claims his territory with a macho hug and kiss (Ale grimacing) and then he and Rafa start circling each other like street dogs. Ale whisks her "esposo" off to the airport before an actual fight can break out, but Marco exits snarling that Rafa is a "naquete de medio pelo" (half-a$ed naco).

Ugh. Let's switch to the flamboyantly pink and pretty office of the flamboyantly pink and pretty Marian. She's burrowing into Julieta, establishing a" let's tell each other everything" friendship which even Julieta is finding a bit odd. Marian wants her to keep up with her studies so Rafa won't be mad, do her job in public relations as well, but FIRST, check in with her every day and let her know how things are going at home. Hmmmm. Furthermore she nudges Julieta to forgive Jaime since, after all, he kept Rafa from making the mistake of marrying Miss Vickie. Julieta says Nevah nevah!

Back at Auto Siglo, Jimenez is talking to his picture, arguing with his wife and mother-in-law and scaring the bejesus out of Claudia who thinks he's nuts. She advises him not only to see a therapist but also to have the guts to actually talk like that to his woman. Then maybe his wife would respect him. We shall see.

Miss Vicky, meanwhile, is on a rampage, Still disheveled and dragging her veil, she charges into the beauty shop and vows vengeance upon the babe and two gay guys for helping disguise Jaime and busting up her wedding. Prepare for sleepless nights, she shrieks, because you never know when your moment will come. They look suitably distressed. The fun part of this scene was hearing "bipolar" in Spanish and hearing Vicky described as "la Llorona" and the curse from "The Woman in the White Veil". Clearly our Vicky has already achieved legendary status. And so young!

Meanwhile, Rafa has reported in to Beltran. He's sold ten more trucks and he's deposited the money from the previous sale in the bank. Beltran's so happy he's ready to throw away his pills. But one more question: How are things with Ale? Is his star sales duo getting along? Rafa says they are...for now. Beltran then laments that he'll be all alone in the showroom when Doña Arcadio gives her big birthday party. He can't go because an auto dealership should never close. I think Rafa agreed to keep him company and skip the party. But I couldn't swear to it.

Maybe I was dipping into the tequila. Because the Queen and Jimenez certainly were. She gives him the great news that his architectural plans for the new business site have been approved and that he's a better architect than salesman. But don't quit your sales job yet. There are a lot of regulations and procedures to go through before all is said and done. Still, it looks great and I'm even thinking of opening up yet another business site, using your plans. They toast to this....repeatedly...while the doggies slurp up champagne and liver pâté from their bowls. Yep, another drunk scene. And there'll be more.

We segue to a bar where Rosario's swain and his lawyer buddy are discussing Jorge's trip, the possible inheritance and the future of the hacienda. But lo, what is this? Our scoundrel admits he's actually falling a little for Rosario. She's sweet, attractive and yes, she's winning him over. I'm still interested in the hacienda, he continues, but for good reasons now, not bad. But double-lo, again...as they discuss the headless horseman scheme, there's one headless horseman unaccounted for. Horrors! Could the place genuinely be haunted. We leave them looking as terrified as our trio in the beauty parlor. Zounds!

Back at the palace, Jimenez is truly in his cups, blubbering that the Queen's dogs are more affectionate than his wife. Doña Arcadio recognizes the value of affection but she also expects
loyalty, work, commitment and respect. Jimenez gets the message and drunkenly thanks her for having confidence in him. Next order of business: Get him some tacos with plenty of sauce and onions to cover up his tequila breath, or Beltran and his wife will be put out indeed!
Best part of this scene? When Jimenez wants to give her a kiss.
D.A. (making a face) Do I have a choice?
J: No.
D.A. Alright, then, but on my glove.

And kiss it, he does. Very regal.

Not so regal, an unshaved half-starved Jaime, wailing and weeping outside the house, while Leonor looks on worriedly. She finally comes out and hands him some food, eyes averted. Well, could he have a little drink to go with that? Yep. But first, he gets some advice. Quit sacrificing yourself and declaring you're ready to die. Do something positive. Win Julieta back with deeds not self-immolation. Well said, mamita.

Not so well said, is the phone message. A friend has called Rosaura to tell her Gabe has been seen with another woman. Don't you just love these gals? The General and Claudia rush to console and man-bash and when Pepeto comes lurking, they blame him for the whole mess. Rosaura doesn't want to talk to anyone, so Pepeto slinks off, another guy in trouble with his gal. Tough night for the menfolk!

Rafa's still seething. Dandy is moping. Pepeto's in dutch, and Jimenez is just plain soused. He does briefly draw Dandy and Susana together, declaring that love is a glorious thing and they're so sweet together, but the moment turns sour as our four co-conspirators decide to drown their sorrows in more drink and Susana pitches Dandy's present in the trash. You're all pigs, she snarls, as our guys beat a hasty exit. Even Trapito comes in for a dirty look.

Jorge, on the other hand, is welcomed home with shouts of joy, multiple hugs and many questions. Like: Where's Manrique and Rubi? What did the bank want to see you about? Not much info gleaned from this interrogation. Rubi, Manrique...still there. Switzerland, Sweden, whatever..... And do you know there are no "enchiladas suizas" in Switzerland!? What's up with that? Azucena is dispatched to make him some, while he questions who she is and do we owe her any money? As for the bank account, they wanted a lot of information, including a lot of numbers he couldn't remember. Nor can he remember how much money he had in said account. Oh well. Welcome home. Dinner will soon be served.

And our guys have been served. And they are all now well and royally soused. I prefer Dandy's hair when he's drunk. The pompadour disappears and he looks sexily disheveled. Meanwhile, Rafa is being encouraged to sing his blues away and he does. The refrain of his song is "no pain is eternal and I'll get over it" He doesn't look convinced. Nor does anyone else. But the bartender is so entranced he gives everyone tequilas on the house.

Aha. Vicky is seeing a regular therapist, not the sexologist. That's a relief. He's encouraging her to get over her obsession. What obsession? Her wedding was simply "delayed". Rafa is her novio, he's going to be her husband and he's going to be the father of her children. And she's going to keep on wearing the veil, thank you very much.

Therapists advice: Look around at all the men in your environs. You need to realize that Rafa is not the only man on earth. And then come back and see me.

Vicky: Do I have to?
Therapist: Yes.

Exit Vicky to reluctantly make another appointment. But clever bipolar lass that she is, she gets the receptionist to tell her when Marco's next appointment with the sexologist is, and then makes hers for the same day. So you want me to know other men! she gloats. Fine, I'll get to know Marco and this guy will help me avenge myself on Ms. Alejandra. And on that perilous note, we end.

Looks like Vicky's planning to seduce Marco with a flame-red Victoria's Secret ensemble. Have fun with this recap, Hombre!

Llena de Amor #13 Wed 8/25/10

This is a gap week, so the recap is DIY.

The basics:

Fedra is a harpy shrew. She blames Marianela for Emanuel's accident. Also, she insists on getting Emanuel out of that filthy gross poor people hospital and takes him home, against medical advice. Marianela goes home with Emiliano.

Pretty much the whole gang has showed up either inside the hospital waiting room or out on the sidewalk. We get a clear view of Ilitia's asymmetrical haircut. Doris tries to get friendly with André but is disappointed when he doesn't really remember her and then leaves with his latest fling.

Oliver gives the fight club a hard time and puts them all in jail, but lets them out before long. He flirts a lot with Gretel but she hits him and drenches him.

Bernardo seems to have been having an affair with Nereida, but she doesn't like being his second choice. Fedra catches them kissing in the laundry room.

Emanuel rests in bed at home, with Ilitia snuggling all over him. Axel and Gretel show up and roll their eyes at Ilitia's ramblings about the marriage and children she and Emanuel will have. Emanuel doesn't seem at all into the idea himself.

Marianela makes chicken soup for Emanuel. It is, of course, muy muy rico (but did she use KNORR?!???!) She takes it to him and Ilitia "accidentally" dumps it all over Marianela instead. Emanuel sees through this ruse and gets really mad at Ilitia.

I think some other stuff happened but I don't remember what.

CS 2010-08-25 WED: Cat o' nine tails -- or cat with nine lives

Episode #132

On the quay, Noel sits alone, endless blue sea and sky behind him, grieving over his son lost off Devil's Rock. He clutches a remnant of Renato's clothing to his heart and remembers the sweet moments he shared of his son's life: as a boy, as a man. "My son...Renato, Renato..." Noel repeats.

Lulu packs her valise at Raúl's, counting it a shame she's leaving things up in the air with Remigio, when Angela rushes in breathless with the news of Juan and Renato's loss at sea. Lulu realizes she can't abandon Remigio, and Angela hopefully wonders if perhaps Lulu will miss her boat?

Leonarda accosts Noel on the quay, crying "No!" He offers her the clothing, explaining it's all they found of their son. She grasps it like a life line, shaking it and declaring that Renato cannot be dead! Suddenly Leonarda looks up at Noel and accuses him of Renato's death, smacking him across the face.

She beats on his chest and screams that he's a murderer; and Noel can only catch her flailing arms, exclaiming "For God's sake!" Leonarda presses the clothing to her face and whimpers that he killed his own son, while Noel looks distant and miserable. A bell tolls, and Noel looks heavenward, speaking his son's name.

Remigio sits on the rocks at the beach, contemplating the loss of his "brother" Juan when suddenly Lulu appears. Rising, he speaks her name and gulps before mentioning he thought she'd already gone. But no; and she says if Remigio asks, she'll remain. She'll stay with him forever, Lulu says.

When he wonders if it could be true, Lulu pulls out her passage ticket and while Remigio watches tears it into small pieces. Lulu opens her hand to let the sea breeze flutter the pieces away, and Remigio clasps it, murmuring "My love." He places a tender kiss on her lips and nuzzling her face wishes she'd stay with him forever.

Gabriel and the boyz visit Regina, recuperating at Dr. Pablo's, where they give her the tragic news. Regina erupts into tearful denial, quoting María del Rosario and the sea's returning power and assuring them her heart knows Juan is alive. Juan is not dead! she insists. But the boyz remain doubtful.

At Fulgencio's, he pays the dressmaker her due; but when he mentions he's grateful despite the fact his wife and her lover escaped, she nevertheless guesses privately that Fulgencio has murdered them both -- and Servando, too. Canny Fulgencio retrieves the coin purse and advises her to keep quiet about any doubts.

He has nothing against her, but she could suffer a terrible accident, Fulgencio warns. The dressmaker shivers imagining it and assures him she doesn't care and with that money he'll never see her again. He returns the purse, she exits and Fulgencio brandishes his cane sword, contemplating the blade.

Captain Breton visits Phillip at the notary office about the coast guard efforts to recover Juan and Renato at Devil's Rock; but Phillip has important news, too: he reports having seen Arcadio back in town being chased by Juan. Breton wants badly to find Arcadio, he says, who knows the whole truth about the Montes de Oca.

Meanwhile at the finca, Arcadio smokes up Renato's cigars and quaffs his cognac, pacing and convincing himself he is going to wind up with everything. At the beach shack, Dr. Pablo has given Jacinta a tranquilizer, and she sleeps while Santos curses Arcadio and tearfully blesses the doctor for saving her from rape in time.

Pablo insists someone must denounce Arcadio so that he be locked up. By now Breton and his troops have reached the finca, and they enter the catacombs, which are dangerously dilapidated. They decide to search upstairs instead; but the noise of falling timbers tipped Arcadio off, and he has escaped when they arrive.

Noel visits Regina at Dr. Pablo's to commiserate over the tragedy; but Regina repeats that Juan is not dead -- neither Juan nor Renato, she says. Noel fiercely encourages Regina to retain her own hope and own faith; but they only found a piece of Renato's clothing -- so for himself, he can't manage it.

Alone in her bedroom, Leonarda clutches Renato's clothing to her heart and agonizes that he's dead; nothing keeps her there, she says. She has her jewels and plans to leave with Arcadio; but first, Leonarda swears bitterly, she's going to even the score with Rodrigo.

Mariela joins Noel at Dr. Pablo's to embrace Regina and express her sympathy. She's there for both of them and understands their sorrow, she says. Mariela suggests that Regina should rest; and before they exit, Noel reminds Regina that she can always count on him, even as she would a father.

That evening everyone gathers at the church, with Regina kneeling at the altar, when Leonarda bursts in and bitterly accuses Regina of sharing in murdering Renato. She doesn't know what weapons Regina mustered to make her son lose his reason, Leonarda begins furiously; she just prays to God that Regina loses her child, too!

With the astounded crowd collectively on its feet, Regina objects, horrified. Noel censures Leonarda for blasphemy and points out roughly that her hatred has brought her nothing but loneliness! When Leonarda tells him to shut up, he demands she explain where would be Rodrigo, her greatest and unconditional ally! Where!

Everyone is riveted on the violent exchange when suddenly a shadow appears in the aisle; then a pair of bare feet. Regina looks as though she has seen a ghost as Noel turns and does, too. Soon everyone's mouths have dropped open as an exhausted figure shuffles inexorably forward. And it's Renato.

When Regina rushes to him and pleads to know where Juan is, he announces loudly that Juan is dead! Regina screams and faints in his arms, dropping to the floor. Juan's friends are frozen in shock. And at that moment out on the beach a fleeing Arcadio has come across a prostrate body that he calls "the bastard."

Before Dr. Pablo carries Regina away, Remigio demands Renato leave her alone, ruefully pronouncing that he used to believe in Renato's goodness and honor and once would have given his life for him. But now may God forgive Renato for the harm he's done to Juan and Regina! Remigio shouts.

Leonarda blubbers endlessly into her son's shoulder and hyperventilates her relief at his safe return while long-suffering Noel must stand back and wait, finally begging for a chance to embrace his son. Renato and Noel joyfully embrace, and Noel expresses gratitude and relief to God and their friends at his son's safe return.

Outside in the plaza all the engaged couples wonder if they should postpone their weddings, but Pedro angrily insists that as sad as Juan's death is, he is with his parents. They should all continue on and think about Juan's baby and Regina, whether she can even make it through this shock.

Later in the notary office, Regina expresses her thoughts in a letter to Juan. Resignedly she realizes everyone thinks he's dead; but her heart says he's alive, that soon he'll return to her. She's writing to tell him how much she loves him and that he's made her the happiest woman in the world, especially now she's having his child.

She wants him to know so there will be no doubt that she never asked for the annulment; that she never stopped loving him. She belongs to him and always will, and she prays that the sea will return him to her so she can go on loving him and being happy -- the three of them, forever.

Arcadio has brought Rodrigo to the catacombs, and Rodrigo is just enthusing over Juan lying dead at the bottom of the sea, when Arcadio points out that's just the reason he's brought him here. Rodrigo doesn't like visiting María del Rosario's old cell again, until he sees who Arcadio has swinging from the rafters.

It's an unconscious Juan. Arcadio explains how he found Juan and that he brought him here so Rodrigo could do as he likes with him. For Rodrigo, it's the best surprise he's had in years, he says. And in his bedroom in town, Renato dreams fitfully that in spite of everything, Juan tried to save his life.

There's a knock at the door, and Leonarda enters to express once again how happy she is he's alive. Renato's the most valuable thing she has, she says; the only thing that makes her happy. She begs him to consider again going far away from there, but Renato can still only think of Regina.

He can't live without her and must have her, he says. He needs her like the air he breathes; without her nothing makes any sense. Leonarda seems to understand, finally relents and agrees if that's his decision, she will respect it and exits.

Back at the catacombs, Rodrigo uses the time while Juan is unconscious to finalize his plans. He heads for the crumbling, dilapidated ruins that nearly fell in on Captain Breton earlier while searching for Arcadio; and the ruins will serve his vengeance plans perfectly, he says.

While Rodrigo is away, Leonarda visits the townhouse on pretense of bringing him a gift. She ingratiates herself with the servant and slips upstairs. Remembering her ire at Rodrigo's unfaithfulness and the death of Brigitte, Leonarda cracks his bedroom safe and empties it of treasure, which she carries off without being seen.

At the finca, Arcadio paces and is so sick of that place! he says. But soon he's going to be rich; immensely rich, he consoles himself. He has to be careful; those two rats, Leonarda and Rodrigo, might betray him any moment. But first, he picks up a pen and paper; after this letter is read, Rodrigo will be locked away forever, he says.

Next morning, Rodrigo splashes a bucket of water on Juan to awaken him. He hopes he's comfortable in his new home, Rodrigo sneers menacingly. When Juan asks why he's been brought there and how Renato is, Rodrigo jeers that Renato wouldn't be the least bit interested in him, so why bother.

What should interest Juan is that he's in the exact same jail cell as his mother all those years, Rodrigo adds. What a small world, eh? So many coincidences life brings. Destiny always works out and so Juan is now in Rodrigo's hands, at his mercy! he says. Nobody will stop him wreaking vengeance for all the humiliation Juan caused!

When Juan points out Rodrigo's such a coward he wouldn't dare try it without Juan chained up, Rodrigo gives him a smack and grabs him by the hair. Juan's going to be begging him on bended knee! he grits out. Never! Juan vows. Well, they'll just see, Rodrigo says, turning to pick up a cat o' nine tails.

Dinero #181 8/25/10: Strike one, strike two, and it’s a long drive to first base

We last saw our star-crossed lovers tenderly kissing one another. Sadly what we had witnessed and had to wait 24 hours to find out, was none other than a cheap telenovela trick. Ale is brought back to reality from her daydream by Rafa’s voice asking her how she is. She inquires about Monterrey. He asks her if she got married and informs her that he didn‘t get married. (well that reality bites.) He wants to know if she is happy and we get a fake little smile and she tells him of course she is happy. Rafa asks her about the honeymoon and Ale not wanting to get into details changes the subject and tells him they need to go to the meeting. We hear Ale think to herself “If you only knew how much I love you and missed you.”

Chespis is also curious how things went in Monterrey. Marian tells her things were great and we get a music travelogue sang by none other than Rafa. Great song and great scenes of Monterrey. (Could have been better if Ale had been there instead of Marian. ) When the song ends Marian tells Chespis that everything was perfect until Daniel showed up and they couldn’t get rid of him. Chespis tells Marian that Daniel is not so bad and very handsome. Marian says if you like him so much I will give him to you. She continues that she does like Daniel but her heart is with Rafa. Chespis wants to know if she is sure she is in love with Rafa.

Ale is telling Susana to get everyone ready for the meeting when the “disappeared finally appears” . It is Zetina. We get some more antics by the Siglo crew. They wonder how they are suppose to remember his name if he doesn’t work there anymore. We also have Marino giving Ramiro a bad time. Dandy tries to talk with his Nonincita and is quickly reprimanded by Susana who tells him it is “Susana” to him. She walks away cutting off his attempts to talk, telling him she has to get to the meeting. A dejected Dandy is left alone saying “I will never give up because I love you.” (strike one)

Rafa is telling Zetina he is very disappointed in him. Zetina gives a sad story about his dog being sick and he had to take him to the vet. Rafa chides him about this and Zetina goes on to say his dog is the only thing he has. He tells Rafa he won’t let him down. Rafa gives him another chance and tells him he wants him to follow Marco and take pictures of where he goes and who he goes with. Zetina says “even with his wife?” Rafa answers even with his wife. Zetina wants to know if Rafa knows his wife. Rafa tells him of course he knows who it is. It is Ale.

Ale is leading our Siglo meeting. She is telling everyone they have to work harder to meet their sales quotas. She is ready to end the meeting with the traditional Siglo Anthem. The crew is not as anxious to leave without a little gossip about her wedding. Bebe tells them it is none of their business. Ale tells them it was just a civil ceremony. They did not take a honeymoon because they did not have enough money. Rosaura perceptively tells her she doesn’t exactly look like a happy bride. Ale is saved from all their questions when Doña Arcadia arrives and invites everyone to a fiesta at her place in Cuernavaca.

Chavez and Marco are having a get together. Chavez seems quite surprised to find out that Marco did not spend his wedding night with his new (flamate/ brand new or brilliant) wife. Marco grabs him by the lapel and tells him to shut up. And to not talk in that tone as if he has committed a crime. Chavez said it wasn’t an act of crime but more like an act of a coward. Marco asks him what he would want him to do “ Sleep with her and at any moment see that jerk Medina kissing her and hugging her?” Marco is all worked up and Chavez tries to calm him down. He tells Marco “if your wife doesn’t protest this than why should I?” Marco tells Chavez that is what bothers him the most that Ale isn’t very insistent about the whole thing. Chavez tells him “who could blame her, who wants to spend the night with a lunatic” (orate). Chavez giggles a bit to Marcos dismay and tells him that he finds it all a bit entertaining.

Chavez than asks if this means the honeymoon was postponed. Marco does a “Duh ya think?” He had to leave the tickets to Brazil “open” as they haven’t set a date yet to leave. Chavez asks him if his “wife agreed with this. Marco says she was in such agreement that she returned to work at Siglo. Chavez drops his coffee cup and spills it all over Marco at hearing this. He says “are you telling me that Medina will be able to try and invade your territory again?” Marco wiping himself off tells Chavez he has nothing to worry about. Ale has assured him that he has nothing to worry about. She is his wife and she will respect him. Chavez is not so certain. Marco says “look imbecile I trust her.” Chavez tells him he doesn’t doubt Ale. He just doesn’t trust Rafa. He tells him “you leave a chicken alone in the chicken coop with a fox and tell him not to eat the chicken . Like that would happen Right?“ Marco looks justifiably worried.

Rosario has made a scarf for Quintana. He actually looks touched at her thoughtfulness. Rosario is filled with worries. She tells them they don’t know anything about Jorge. She is also very worried about Ale. She is married to one man but in love with another. Quintana takes all of this in. The talk turns to Chavez and the hatred she has for him. She tells Quintana if she sees him she will have him thrown in jail.

Creepy scene with Daniel and Marian. He has brought her flowers. She wonders if he is now interested in her again because he has competition since she hadn’t seen him for a while and now all of a sudden he is everywhere. He tells her that the car salesman is no competition for him. She tells him sadly the worse part is that Rafa isn’t interested in being competition for her. Sleazy Daniel reaches over to touch Marian’s hand and asks her if she is interested in Rafa . She tells him “yes. A lot.”

Marco is telling Chavez to stop with his stupid commentaries, he is not in the mood for his bad jokes. He tells Marco he understands, if he was in his shoes he wouldn‘t be in the mood for bad jokes neither. Marco tells Chavez what he needs to do is take Ale away. In order to do this he has to sell the hacienda. Chavez reminds him that he also needs money to pay off Carmen or she will cut his head off.

Marco tells Chavez they need someone they trust to pretend to buy the hacienda. Unfortunately the only one he knows that is more dishonest than himself is Chavez. Chavez sarcastically thanks him for that remark. He tells him he would love to be able to buy the hacienda but he doesn’t think he would be the best candidate. they have to find someone else. Marco tells them they need to find some one decent and not like that Frank guy. He asks Chavez if he doesn’t have any friends that look decent? Chavez doesn’t understand why they would need someone like that. Marco tells him they can’t present a ruffian to Jorge. It has to be someone that would not arouse any suspicion. Chavez gives this some thought and tells Marco he has the perfect person.

Rafa is giving Zetina his instructions, and Zetina assures him he wont let him down. He will be this guys shadow. Ale walks buy and trips over Zetina. He attempts to apologize and is met with Ale’s snootiness. As Zetina leaves Rafa calls after him to not forget what he is suppose to do. Ale than chides Rafa for wasting his time and not being at the meeting. Rafa tells her that Zetina is doing something very important for him. Ale continues her scolding when Pepito shows up and tells Rafa he needs to see him and the happy amigos whisk Rafa off for a little conference. Dandy stays behind to take another shot at talking to Susana but is quickly stopped by Ale who tells him to leave Susana alone. (strike two)

Susana and Ale are left alone to ponder what Zetina might want with Rafa. She tells Susana no matter how hard she tries to look at Rafa with good intentions she can’t because he always seems to be up to something. That’s why she can’t trust him again. Than she tells Susana to take care of her cold (gripa).

More Daniel and Marian. He can’t believe if he is interested in her he has to compete with the car salesman. Marian tells him he is only interested in her now, because she is interested in someone else. (More talk, not interested.)

Back at the boys club, Ramiro is telling Rafa about his encounter with Marco at the sex therapist office. Our boys wonder if Marco might be having some troubles in that area. In the meantime Doña Arcadia is trying to convince Beltran into coming to her birthday party. She informs him that she has invited all the Siglo crew. This worries Beltran. If everyone is at the party who will be left at Siglo. She tells him she thought they could just close up shop. Beltran is reduced to sucking on his oxygen mask at the thought of closing the store.

Now the real fun begins. Rosario and Quintana have entered the same restaurant as Chavez and Marco. A very anxious Marco spies them and suddenly grabs a perplexed Chavez by the lapels and tosses him into the chefs station. We hear all kinds of ruckus as plates drop and brake and everyone looks on in surprise.
Marco has managed to squelch his nerves somewhat and approaches Rosario. She asks him what he is doing there. He graciously invites them to sit down. Quintana asks him if he would like to join them. Marco tells him no. He was there having coffee with a friend, when he accidentally says Chavez he quickly corrects himself and says Urdiales. Not quick enough however as Quintana seems a little suspicious. We have a funny shot of Chavez on the other side of the divider all disheveled with a piece of fruit in is mouth. Rosario seems surprised to hear he was with Urdiales. Isn’t Urdiales away on a trip. Marco quickly states he just got back last night and hurriedly leaves to check up on Chavez. Rosario is puzzled and asks Quintana why Marco would leave through the kitchen.

Chavez is asking Marco why he had to resort to violence. Marco explains that Rosario and Quintana couldn’t see them together. They are interrupted by one of the cooks wanting to know who is going to pay for all the damages. Marco assures the young man that Chavez will take care of everything. A protesting Chavez is left to deal with the mess. He wants to know how much the plates were. The cook informs him he has to pay for the salad as well, as we see Chavez removing a piece of lettuce from his head, giving it a taste test and complaining it lacks oil.

Rafa is asking Ramiro why Marco would be seeing a sex therapist. Dandy explains that one would go see a sex therapist for only one reason. Because they don’t “function like a man.” Ramiro protests this and states this isn’t the case with him. Dandy wants to know if that isn’t his case why he would be there. Ramiro is spitting and stuttering when Rafa points out that they aren’t there to discuss Ramiro’s life. He wants to know “Why would Ale’s husband go see a sex therapist?’ Ramiro giggles as he fiddles with his tie and says “ Maybe he has problems there.” as he looks down. Rafa pointing downward repeats “por ahi” and they all start giggling. Then Rafa suddenly gives Ramiro a very pleased hug saying it would be just great that he hasn’t touched (tocado) his licenciada. Pepito tells Rafa there is more to tell. Ramiro informs him that Vicky was also there to see a psychologist. Rafa isn’t quite as happy to hear this news.

Rosario is telling Quintana that she doesn’t like the idea that Ale isn’t with Marco. Quintana tells her that this is an issue that Marco and Ale have to resolve themselves. Rosario tells him she isn’t trying to butt in , but she feels like Ale is a daughter to her. She only wants to see her happy. Quintana , half listening, tries to get a strangely disguised waiter to stop and get him a glass of water. The strangely disguised waiter is none other than Chavez trying to make a quick get away as he ignores the order and quickly walks past them. Rosario remarks that she doesn’t like this place. It has a strange vibe. “There is some strange things going on. Marco left through the kitchen, and the waiters are in costumes and don’t even pay attention to the clients.” Quintana gives this some thought and asks Rosario who did Marco say he was with? Rosario answers Urdiales. Quintana ponders this for a while.

Rafa has entered the office to find Ale busy at work. He asks if he can interrupt. Sarcastically Ale asks him if he has finished with his private meeting. Rafa gives an enthusiastic yes. Then he tells Ale that as long as they will be working together they should try really hard to get along. Rafa tells her he realizes she is a married women and he has no right to get close to her, but he would at least like to be her friend. Ale says in her “Ale” tone “You just want to be my friend?” She tells him she doesn’t believe him. Now it is Rafa’s turn to get a tone and sarcastically tells her he understands that she is very happy with her husband. Ale assures him she is, then asks “Do you doubt that?” He tells her he doesn’t doubt it, but he doesn’t see a happy face of a women who just got married. Ale tells him she is working and doesn’t have to have any kind of face.

Rafa continues on his little journey of questions and asks Ale if she is living with Marco. Ale chides him and tells him it is none of his business. He tells her it was just a simple question. He starts to leave than tells her he sold some trucks. Ale shoots back “Really? I thought you were going on this trip just to seduce women.” Rafa tells her he believes he will be able to give her quite a bit towards the debt he owes her.
Ale tells him she can’t wait. Than she won’t have to see him any more. Rafa seems offended by this and tells her he knows she is a married women. He stops for a moment than tells her wistfully he still has hope.
Pensive and thoughtful glances are interrupted by a phone call. There is someone there to see her.

Our carpenter enters the office to tell them he is there to take care of their office. Ale is elated. She wants to have it so she doesn’t have to hear anything. The carpenter informs Ale Doña Arcadia wants him to put some type of glass containing wall between the two offices. (Un muro y una puerta de crista abatable/ I don‘t have a clue what that is). Rafa cheerfully tells him he has no problems with this, after all if that is what Beltran wants, as he looks at Ale smiling telling her at least they will still be able to see one another. Ale is not quite as happy as Rafa is.

Dandy makes another attempt to approach Susana. He is stopped before he can get close. He wants to know how she knew he was there. She tells him she could smell his disgusting aroma. Dandy gives himself a quick smell test. She asks him what he wants. He tells her he bought her a book and hands her a sweetly wrapped gift. It is a book about temple teachings and Buddhist reflections. (I think) Susana continues working paying no attention to Dandy. He tells her it was really hard to find it but he bought it with love just for her. She continues to ignore him and Dandy sets it on her desk and tells her he hopes she likes it. He leaves and Susana slowly raises her head, picks up the gift and smiles sweetly. We see Dandy peeking behind the glass patrician doing the funky eye thing and smiling. (Line drive to first base, and the crowd goes wild!!!)

We change scenes to another love sick puppy who has camped out in front of Juliette’s house. He is plastering “Te amo” posters every where. This attempt at reconciliation doesn’t go as smoothly as Dandy’s, as Juliette leaves her house only to trip over one of Jaimies camping chairs. Jaimie hears her fall and attempts to help her up. Juliette rushes off angrily, leaving Jaimie behind begging for her forgiveness.

Ale gets a phone call from Jorge. She is excited to hear from him. She asks him how he is. He tells her he is fine but he has a little problem. He is in Mexico but has landed at the wrong airport. He isn’t really certain where he is as he sniffs the air and says it smells like pork sausage (chorizo) he must be in Toluca. Ale smiling gives him instructions on how to make connections to get to Mexico City.

A veiled Vicky is pouring coffee for her papa. He wants to know how long she is going to continue to wear the veil. He tells her she needs to forget about Rafa and find something else to distract her. He asks her what the Dr. said. Vicky says “what Dr?’ He tells her the psychologist. She answers “I don’t know I wasn’t paying attention.” Then he tells her he thought it was quite strange to find Marco there. Vicky agrees. She says it can’t be easy to not be able to “function.” Don Gaston pities the poor women who would be his mate. Vicky says to herself this would be none other than Ale. This should be very interesting.

Ale has called Marco to let him know Jorge has arrived in Mexico. She asks him if he will go with her to the airport to get him. Marco happily agrees. As he hangs up he says to himself “The old man has returned. It would be great to see if he brings good news and tells me I will inherited a huge fortune.”
Marco says “life is Perfect.” Then looking down at himself, shaking his head adds “Well almost. But I will fix this little problem.”

Ale is packing her purse to leave when Rafa enters the office. He asks her if she is leaving. He asks if there are any problems and offers to take her where she needs to go. Ale smugly says no thank you. My husband is coming, as she waves her wedding band finger at him. Rafa is taken a back and tells her this was the first time he heard her say “her husband”. Again Ale waves her finger and coyly says, “Well that’s what he is. My Husband” Rafa tells her it is hard for him to accept that she is now married. Ale retorts “Well it wasn’t much work for you to take a trip with Marian.” Rafa explains to her that he went to Monterrey to sell some trucks. Ale tells him he doesn’t need to explain anything to her. Rafa replies well you asked. Ale tells him again she is married and he needs to respect her husband. She tells him he is a free man and he can do what ever he wants. Rafa sadly tells her he might be single but his heart belongs, and before he can finish his sentence is cut off by Ale. Again Rafa wants to know why they can’t be friends.

The conversation changes and Rafa wants to know when she will be leaving for Brazil. She tells him when he has finished paying her everything he owes her and when she gets married in the church. Rafa informs her that it wouldn’t be very convenient for him to pay her than because than she will leave and he will never see her again. Ale yells at him and tells him not to be so brazen (cinico). “You will pay me!” Rafa tells her he never would think not to pay her. He just can’t stand the thought of not seeing her any more. Even though she is married. Ale threatens, if he continues talking like that she has to leave. Rafa stops her and tells her she needs to answer just one question and he won’t bother her any more. He walks behind her and asks “Do you love your husband?” Ale is left thinking pensively.

El Clon, Wed., August 25 - Summary for Discussion

The truth about Daniel starts to spread out across the cast like a tidal wave with varying reactions depending on the level of education and religious persuasion of the hearers.

When he gets home, Lucas gets a strange look from Marina, the maid, but all she says is that Leo is in the study with Albieri. Lucas replies that he will take a bath first and then come down.

Rosa shows Daniel photos of Diego as a child. ¿Me parezco? he asks Dora, 'Do I look like him?' Daniel recognizes the photos of the adolescent Diego. 'Parecemos clonados', It's like we were cloned, says Daniel. That's too much for Dora and she hustles Daniel out of the house. Rosa asks Luisa whether Daniel belongs to Dora or to them. Luisa says that she doesn't know.

Meanwhile Lucas wishes he were 20 again (si pudiera regresar a mis 20 años..). He says that he would do everything differently.

Jade, too, is thinking about the choices she made when she was young. She tells Zoraida that if she hadn't fallen in love with Lucas, she would be in Morocco with Jadiya and falling in love with Said. She would be happy like Latifa is. She asks why she threw her fate to the wind. Zoraida blames the power of love. Jade goes on to say that she is afraid of the 'shadow' that she saw. Having only seen Daniel for about 10 seconds, she can tell that he isn't the Lucas who lied and 'threw her to the winds,' he's the Lucas of 20 years ago, who only lives in her memory.

Latifa tells Jade that she has asked Ali to convince Mohamed to let her live with them. Jade replies that Ali won't be able to convince Mohamed this time. She doesn't want to cause trouble for anyone. She is responsible for what she did with her life.

Mohamed tells Said that Jade wants to stay in Miami but he won't allow her to stay at his house. Jadiya and Rania come in. Jadiya can't understand why she can't visit Mohamed's house. Rania distracts her with a trip to the mall with Yamil, the boy she met at her birthday party.

Rania and Amina hope that Jade will go back to Morocco with Ali and get out of Said's life. Yamil ask Jadiya why she wears so much gold and says that she looks like a Christmas tree (parece un árbol de navidad del occidente). Jadiya says Yamil's clothes are horrible.

Dora and Daniel return to their house. Daniel tells Estela that his resemblance to Diego was amazing. When he leaves the room, Dora tells Estela that Albieri is now saying that Daniel is a clone. She doesn't really know what that is. She thinks it is a robot, a genetic experiment or a monster. Estela concludes that Albieri is crazy.

Back at Leo's, Rosa is still babbling about reincarnation. Albieri puts her straight. He says that Daniel is not a reincarnation (reencarnado), he's a clone. '¿Dice que hizo con mi muchacho, lo que dice que hace con el ganado del Señor Leonardo?'Are you saying that you did the same thing to my boy that you told me you do to Senor Leonardo's cattle? Yes, replies Albieri. Rosa refuses to believe it. '¿Desde cuándo Dios lo hizo su socio?' Since when did God make you his partner? she asks sarcastically.

Lucia tells Andrea about Nati's condition when she saw her at the mall. Andrea reassures her mother that she does not do drugs. Lucia asks about Fernando. Andrea reports that he has decided to go straight.

Fernando is regretting that he didn't take one last hit with Paula.

PSA time: Enrique tells his shrink that he believed every day was his last one taking drugs but he couldn't quit. He says that if he could talk to young people who are living the hell that he did, he would tell them to get professional help because a person can't quit on their own. Meanwhile, Fernando is getting antsy.

Roberto reports to Clara that Malicia is avoiding him and won't sign the papers transferring the apartment. 'Lo sabia,' I knew it, says Clara. The Chump continues to tell Anita about his problems although she has been less than sympathetic. He tells her that he can't understand how Malicia has changed so much. She replies that people don't change all of a sudden (de repente). He just never knew the real Malicia before.

A grim Silvia asks Julio what his position is on what Albieri did. She is going to turn him into to the FDA. Julio replies that he is conflicted. Albieri is more than a teacher to him, he is like a father and he doesn't want to see him in jail. So what he did to Dora doesn't count? asks Silvia. She accuses Julio of being Albieri's accomplice. She tells him that she has agreed to wait a little while until Albieri straightens things out but then she is going to the FDA.

Marisa comes home and Rosa announces that the reincarnated one was there. Marisa thinks Rosa is delirious. Leo summons Marisa and Rosa to hear what Albieri has to say. Rosa tells Marisa that Albieri claims that he made a clone of Lucas but she doesn't believe it. Now Marisa is really confused.

Vicki tells Cristina that Dora and Leo were looking for her. Vicki believes that Dora and Leo never had anything together. Vicki urges Cristina to call Dora but Cristina refuses and says that if she sees Dora, she'll kill her.

At Cristina's bar, Dora, who used to dance so joyously, is wearing a sweater and shuffling around the floor with Miguel like she was 90 years old. She says that she is sad from all the bad things that have happened in her life. Miguel asks if he can do anything to help her. He is going to visit Osvaldo but Dora has no message for him. She says that that chapter of her life is over. Vicki reports to Dora on her failure to get Cristina to see reason. She tells Vicki about Daniel being a clone. Vicki doesn't know what that is either. Dora hopes that Daniel never hears about this.

Ali goes to see Father Andres. They agree that since Albieri doesn't believe in God (no tiene Dios), he is capable of anything. 'Albieri le quitó la sombra a un hombre y le dio vida en otro,' Albieri took the shadow from one man and gave life to another, says Ali. They wonder how someone who is really only a shadow can exist in the world. Father Andres says that Daniel doesn't have a father or a mother under the normal definition of those terms. Ali asks him what is the position of the Catholic Church on cloning. Not surprisingly, Father Andres says that the Church opposes cloning.

Leo tells Marisa about the clone. She has trouble believing that Albeiri created a clone. She says that there is no proof and how could he have concealed it all these years. [He concealed Daniel's existence by the magic of novelas where persons who would have recognized Daniel conveniently don't see him.] If he did make a clone, she asks Leo whether he is normal and what is his life expectancy. Leo replies that the clone appears to be normal and is the same age as Diego when he died.

Rosa tells Marisa that according to Alej, Nati has disappeared again.

Ramoncito comes over to Alej's and is there when Nati and Paula show up. Nati wants to take a clock but Alej won't let her leave in that state.

Leo tells Lucas that Daniel is a clone of him. 'Daniel es un clon tuyo.' Lucas refuses to believe it. Leo says that Albieri explained it all to him but he can't remember all the technical terms he used so he can't explain it to Lucas. Lucas accuses his father of not being interested in that. He says that Leo only cares about the fact that Diego has returned. He refuses to listen to anymore.

Alej throws Paula out of the apartment bodily. He refuses to let Natalia leave the apartment until she calms down (Aquí te quedas hasta que te normalices.) He locks Nati in the apartment and warns Ramoncito not to tell Gloria anything about this. [Fat chance of that] He is going to stay outside the door until Nati becomes herself again. Nati is trashing the place. Then she drinks what appears to be some household cleaning fluid while Enrique drones on about what the physical need for drugs will make addicts do.

Clara is happy to find Fernando at home working. She offers to stay with him but he is eager for her to leave. Finally, he leaves.

Ramon is ready to tell Gloria what he saw at Alej's but she refuses to listen. Diana and Pablo are at Gloria's discussing Alej and Nati. Zamira, the Naz and Zumaya are walking by and Zamira spots Pablo. The Naz tells Zumaya that Pablo is one of her suitors who was driven away by her brothers. Amin, the snitch, tells Adbul that the women are spreading corruption. Abdul runs outside, sees Gloria and has a fantasy of her extremely voluptuous body dancing for him. Then he shoos the women inside.

When Alej comes back into the apartment, he finds Nati unconscious on the floor with empty containers near her.

The next day at the empresa Ferrer, Fer has not shown up for work and Clara has to tell Carolina that he bolted from her house the previous night and disappeared. When Enrique finds out that Leo wants to see Roberto about adopting Daniel, he throws his usual hissy fit.

Roberto tells Leo that he has no idea where to start with the Daniel problem. Leo replies that the kid is his son and he wants him by his side and Roberto had better hop to it.

The sKank finds Daniel. He says that he wants to go to the desert and does she want to come along. Karla tells Daniel that she is preggers. He asks if it is his child and she says no, she is 3 months along. Daniel asks if she is sure that the baby is hers, explaining that his father has told him that the woman who gave birth to him is not his mother and that his real mother died before he was born. This is way too much for the tiny sKank brain but she sees that Daniel is troubled and she comforts him.

Ramoncito tells Gloria that when he was at Alej's, Nati was high on drugs.

I guess Alej could tell that Nati didn't drink anything dangerous because he didn't take her to the emergency room. When she wakes up, Alej asks why she drank all that stuff. She replies that she was angry and he made her nervous and she didn't want to be left alone in the the apartment. She claims that she was fine when she came home until Alej started fighting with Paula. He tells her that he is exhausted and about to lose his dream because of her.

Daniel goes to Leo's house.

Marisa can't believe that Albieri could put all that garbage about cloning in Leo's head at this time. She asks Rosa to call Nati and then find her missing phone.

Marisa looks at an old picture of herself and like everyone else, says, 'Cómo quisiera devolver el tiempo,' how I wish I could turn the clock back. She looks out the window and sees Daniel looking back at her.

The credits roll.

Corazon Salvaje, Tuesday, August 24: Ep 131--Men overboard.

I bid you all a fond farewell, on this, the occasion of my last Corazon Salvaje recap. It's been a fun ride and I'm so glad I stuck it out despite the time change. Thank you all for hanging in there too. And now let us throw our hands up and shriek with delight as this crazy roller coaster finally (I hope!) coasts down the last long slope.

There is no cliffhanger here as both dumbass boys go over the edge and into the water. Frickin' everybody in the boat loses it.

Jime and Mariela are out walking around when they sense a disturbance in the force. They overhear that Juan and Renato were dueling on Peñon del Diablo. One of the guys gossiping says he's sure one of the two is going to die! Mariela is concerned about Noel and Jimangela says they out to get back to Raul's house.

Reggie is still asleep at Doc Miranda's. Clemencia worries about Juan, Renato, and the baby. Doc Miranda says some men have blood in their destiny, and he's afraid Juan is one of them. Clem strokes Reggie's hair and cries.

Back at the finca, Arcadio is still drinking. He says soon this will all be his, but in the meantime, he needs a woman. He goes off to find one.

Rodrigo sees Brigitte's glove in the drawer where the maid put it. The maid knocks and announces that Leo is there to see him. He leaves the glove and goes downstairs. They both make small talk while they smile a little too widely at each other. Leo hopes no one finds anything to point to them as murderers. Rod says her secret is safe with him and he'd never betray her. He knows he can trust her too. Blah, blah, blah. Leo thought bubbles that Rod's goin' down! They toast as Leo smiles and Rod looks at her suspiciously.

The guys in the boats keep shouting for Renato and Juan, but they can't see them. Noel begs them to keep looking. Pedro isn't worried--Juan's a good swimmer. Santos isn't optimistic about Renato's chances. They yell back to Noel that they'll keep looking and refuse Noel's offer of payment. Um, guys, you're pretty far out and the dumbass twins went in a lot closer to the rocks. Just saying.

Regina wakes up with a scream, freaking out about Juan. Clemencia begs her to calm down.

You motherfucking son of a bitch, don’t you dare! Sorry, I'm watching Arcadio checking out Jacinta as she stares out to see. He grabs at her as she screams at him to let her go. She tries to run, but stumbles and falls. She keeps screaming for help and Arcadio knocks her out and starts ripping her clothes off.

The search continues. Colibri is seriously traumatized. Noel looks like he's going to pass out.

Doc Miranda comes running down the beach and pulls a gun on Arcadio. Jacinta doesn't realize it's Doc Miranda asking if she's ok and screams as she comes to. Arcadio runs off and Doc says he got there in time and Arcadio won't hurt her. She tells him everybody went out looking for Juan and Renato.

The search continues. They agree to go back to port and search there. Pedro tells Eusebio about the reef and says they've got to search carefully.

Arcadio sees a little rowboat on another part of the beach. He curses the doctor for interrupting his fun. I'm just sorry he didn't get shot. He steals the rowboat to sail directly to the finca.

At the port, Noel asks for volunteers and offers to pay any price for help finding Juan and his son. The fishermen say he doesn't have to pay. It's time for them to pay him back for everything he's done for them in the past. They start searching.

Leonarda gets the bad news from Celia and cries. She refuses to believe that Renato could be dead and forbids Celia from saying that he might be. She goes running out of the house saying he must be alive.

Regina wakes up properly and asks Clemencia for news. Clem says she had an infection, the baby's fine, and Juan…well, he's probably going to be there soon. Reggie knows Clemencia is hiding something from her and demands to know what it is. Reggie remembers about the duel. Clem says they did duel, but they both fell in the sea and no one knows where they are. Reggie gets hysterical and insists they have to be out there somewhere.

Raul confirms that the news about the duel is accurate. The boys are still missing. Mariela is still worried about Noel. She insists on going to see him, but her father doesn't want her seeing a married man. Her mother joins in on her husband's objections. She's worried about the rumors. Mariela is angry that they seem to have forgotten everything Noel has done for the family and they're asking her to abandon Noel now. She pleads with her father to understand how Noel must feel, with his child missing. She insists that she can't fail Noel now. Jimangela tells him that she knows he's more concerned with what's real, then with appearances. She offers to go with Mariela, as does Grandma. Grandpa says they're all going to go and support Noel. Raul begs off and says he has personal business to attend to.

One last rallying cry and the fishermen go to start searching. Mariela comes up and hugs Noel. He says his son is lost at sea and maybe dead. Mariela tells him to have faith. He thanks her. Grandpa, Grandma, and Jimangela all express their solidarity. Noel is grateful to all of them. He asks them to pray that they find both boys alive. Mariela gives him a blessing and he takes off with the fishermen. Leo comes up crying that she wants her son back alive. "Quit flirting and go find him!" In the middle of all this serious shit that's going down, Noel has to tell her that he and Mariela are just friends. Priorities, people, priorities.

Rod gets the news from his maids. He figures Leo must be freaking out. He thought bubbles that Leo is paying for what she did to MdR and he's glad she's suffering.

Leo says "you must be happy about this." Mariela defends Noel, so Leo calls her Noel's "lover." He defends Mariela and tells her not to say Renato is dead. Now Leo accuses him of denying reality and blames him for Renato's death. This is his fault for bringing Juan around. Noel says it's her fault for pushing Juan away and feeding Renato's hate. Noel takes his leave of the family, ignoring Leo. He comes back again and tells Leo he's got to go keep searching. Leo wants to go with him, but Noel tells her to stay or she'll slow down the search. Noel leaves and Leo gives Mariela et al, a dirty look.

Pedro shows Noel a map and explains about the tricky currents. He proposes that maybe the guys washed into a cave. But if they didn't, they're dead, Jim. Pedro tells Noel where to search. They're going to take 2 teams to follow each of the major currents.

Leo goes to scream at the Virgen for punishing her. She says "you can't take my son from me! You're a mother too! You can't take my son!" The priest comes out and gripes her out for yelling at the Virgen that way. He tells her to have faith and to search her own soul before screaming at the Virgen. Leo is miraculously not struck by lightning when she says she has nothing to feel guilty for and has always been a good Christian, so she can't understand why she's being punished like this. "God has abandoned me! Everyone has abandoned me!" The priest looks at the Virgen and asks forgiveness for Leo.

One of the fishermen finds Renato's vest in the water. Pedro wonders if he was smashed on the rocks. He's convinced Renato is dead.

Another guy reports to Noel that there's no sign of either of the boys. Noel won't give up. He tells the guy to go get Captain Breton and demand the coast guard ship get involved in the search. Colibri's afraid they got caught in the current and drowned. Noel pulls himself together and tells Colibri not to lose faith. He makes Colibri promise. Colibri calls him "Captain" and promises.

Pedro brings the vest back to Noel. Noel still won't accept that Renato is dead. He tells Pedro and Santos his idea about Captain Breton. Colibri asks Pedro and Santos to tell him that the Captain isn't dead. Santos thinks they need to resign themselves to Juan and Renato being dead. Noel refuses. Santos tells them to let the coast guard take over the search. But first he wants them to have a moment of silence for Juan and Renato.

Noel stands on the dock holding Renato's vest and crying.

Regina prays to the Virgen to take care of Juan and Renato, despite all the harm Renato has done. Clemencia comes in with some soup and tells Regina to lie back down. She reminds her that she's eating for two to convince Reggie to eat something. Reggie doesn't know how to be calm if she's lost the love of her life. How can she find peace if Juan is dead.

Well, I feel cheated. Hopefully tomorrow will be more fulfilling.

Llena de Amor #12 Tue 8/24/10 The line to strangle Fedra forms behind me.

Overlap from Monday: Marianela decides she needs to go back to the viper pit, since she didn’t tell Emiliano she was leaving, and also it is her house. Brandon drives her, but is too busy telling her she shouldn’t return to that infierno and nosing into her love life to watch the road. Even when Mari shrieks, he still doesn’t look or step on the brakes, and thus he plows right into Emanuel and his moto.

New: Tia Carlota calls again from Madrid, demanding to speak to Marianela. Emiliano tells her that Mari no está, as she spent the night at her Tia Netty’s house. Carlota and her helmet hair are horrified. That actriz is not good company for Marianela! She is despistada (clueless) and estrafalaria (eccentric)! Emiliano thinks she’s being a tad melodramatic, but Carlota insists that he get Mari out of that house of sin immediately if not sooner. He will be held responsible if anything happens to Marianela!

Mari and Brandon jump out of the jeep and see that it is Emanuel they have hit. He’s lying on the pavement, unconscious and with a bloody gash on his face. Mari shrieks that they have killed him!

Lorenzo and Ilitia go to an office to pursue Ilitia’s case against Brandon. While they’re waiting, Ilitia fusses that she hasn’t heard from Emanuel. Lorenzo says guys need a little space, so she shouldn’t be so clingy. Does she want to turn out like her mother? Over my dead body, says Ilitia. He convinces her to put the phone away so they can focus on bribing a judge to make Brandon pay.

Muñeca breakfasts in bed and tells her maid what Ilitia and Lorenzo are up to. The maid says she thought the young policeman was just doing his job. Muñeca, who was actually at the airport, agrees. He almost certainly saved Ilitia from being killed, and his bravery probably prevented a huge massacre, as well. Unfortunately, Ilitia and Lorenzo don’t see things the same way.

Lorenzo describes to the licenciado the damages Ilitia has suffered as a result of her little jaunt in the mens’ room: trauma, ruined reputation, loss of employment. The guy asks them what they hope to get. Lorenzo wants a public desagravio (amends, indemnification) to clear Ilitia’s name. {I’m still not sure what people think she did wrong, but whatevs.} Ilitia wants Brandon imprisoned, starved to death, fired from the police, and run over by a train. Lorenzo nods.

A crowd has gathered around, and Emanuel hasn’t woken up. A guy tells Mari and Brandon that the ambulance is on its way. Mari begs Emanuel to open his eyes.

Netty tells Gladiola that she thinks Emanuel will help her with the inheritance case, because he also wants the best for Mari. Gladiola wonders if he might find it difficult to fight against his mother. Well, Netty isn’t going into this fight without backup. The lawyer will know what to do. Gladiola, ever the little raincloud, doesn’t think their lawyer will be effective against rich people and their lawyers. Netty says you can’t buy intelligence. Her lawyer is smart and studied the same laws. Glad says maybe you can’t buy intelligence, but sometimes you can buy “justice.” Netty says not to worry; she is an indefatigable fighter and she will do what it takes.

The General chews out Emiliano for letting Marianela spend the night in Netty’s pension. Emiliano says by the time he found out, they had guests and it was late, and what’s the big deal, anyway? “If it matters so much to you, why didn’t you go get her yourself?” “You know very well why I never leave this room!” “Yeah, because you’re a crazy old coot.” “No, because I refuse to leave until that usurper serpent hypocrite Fedra is out of this house!” “You are speaking of my wife!” “Careful, you’ll be eaten by jealousy and your soul will be poisoned! Get out of my room!”

Doris and Netty are outside the lawyer’s office, in the humbler part of town. Doris says to be careful and pay attention so the lawyer doesn’t take advantage. Netty says not to worry; everyone says this lawyer is a really good upstanding guy who takes good care of the parish people’s legal needs, and he’ll help her get Mari’s assets away from the evil Fedra.

Fedra reads a document stating that Marianela will receive her father’s estate when she turns 21. Bernardo says that will give them plenty of time to make use of the documents he has forged regarding debts Eva had to Fedra. Fedra says Mari will surely just go along with it quietly in order to avoid dragging her mother’s memory into a scandal. Bwahahahaha, she will wish the earth had swallowed her up. Bernardo says Fedra will be tranquil and satisfied once she is the owner of this happy home. “Tranquil and satisfied?! Bernardo, it’s like you don’t know me at all!” She tells him she also wants the money Marianela will be collecting from her tia Carlota. Emiliano has just come down the stairs. “What money are you talking about?”

Netty introduces herself to Licenciado Pacheco, who is most accommodating and chivalrous, almost excessively. He objects to her description of herself as lowly and humble and compliments her physical assets. Well, anyway, she tells him, she needs a lawyer who is honest, decent, a fighter, and cheap. He thinks he is just the guy, and is then delighted to find out that Netty is unmarried. He kneels at her feet and kisses her hand and asks her to call him Eugenio. Um, okay. She starts to tell him about her case.

Fedra claims she was talking about the fortune she is going to earn from some real estate business deal. She is super good at business, doncha know? No doubt, says Emiliano. He gets rid of Bernardo and fortifies himself with booze while he builds up steam. “We need to talk about Marianela’s position in this house,” he tells Fedra.

Axel and Gretel are at the university. Gretel says Mom has threatened her, as usual. Axel asks about the toast. It seems she knows something about their mother. Gretel doesn’t want to say anything. She just tells him either a. to just worry about keeping Fedra happy, or b. to worry BECAUSE Fedra is happy, I can’t tell. Anyway, he says he’s doing what he can, studying the field Fedra wanted him to study, when he’d rather study music. Fabiola and Alfredo greet them. Alfredo tells Axel not to act jealous (that he’s with Fabiola), because he had his chance when Fab was slimily throwing herself at him and he didn’t fight for her, and no one would believe his jealousy anyway. “Huh?” says Axel’s face. But Alfredo supposes women aren’t his type. Say, he knows someone who shares Axel’s strange tastes. Maybe he should introduce them? He says this in a snotty sarcastic way, of course, not like he actually wants to introduce Axel to someone, so Axel gets offended. Fabiola and Gretel try to intervene but Axel grabs Alfredo and says he’s going to break his face.

Fedra claims she has nothing against Marianela, she just didn’t want her to come live in this house with her mother. That boozehound would have been such a bad influence on the children! “Eva had recovered, and you know it!” says Emiliano. “Marianela is a family member, and the owner of this house, and my responsibility, and if I get the slightest whiff that you are doing anything to abuse her... Don’t even THINK about it, you hear me?”

Fabiola and Gretel are still trying feebly to avert the storm that’s a-brewin’. Alfredo continues the taunts and tells Gretel she’d better take her brother away before he teaches him with trancazos (blows) how to be a man. So Axel knocks him over with a swift right hook. “Bring it on! I am not afraid of you!” Afraido pops back up, clutching his face. They face off and fume.

The ambulance has arrived at the hospital. Brandon tells them he ran over the patient with his car. The patient was wearing a helmet, but it fell off in the crash (crappy helmet!). Marianela shrieks at the doctor to save him, because the doc would never have thought of that on his own. Doc calmly shines a light in Emanuel’s eyes and sends him off for scans, telling Marianela to relax. She grabs him and demands to know the prognosis, even though the doctor has examined Emanuel for approximately two seconds. The doc blithely tells her that these injuries are severe and could be fatal. He can’t guarantee anything; they have to wait for the scans. Marianela looks about as impressed with this doctor as I am.

Axel and Alfredo are really going at it now. Oliver is on campus for some reason and sees the fight. He runs over to save the day. His badge flashed around does the trick. Then his phone rings, and for some reason we get a lingering look at the phone clipped to his hip.

Brandon calls the Comisario to explain why he’s late for work and asks him to inform the Ruiz y de Teresa family of what’s happened.

Meanwhile, Ilitia and Kristel lounge by the pool with fancy drinks, whining about their own troubles. Ilitia tells Kristel that she was fired by her agency and is SO EMBARRASSED by the photos in the tabloids, with her hair ruined and her makeup running. {Maybe that’s why she was fired. The agency only wants models who look stunning in hostage situations.} But her career isn’t what’s really bothering Ilitia. As crazy as it sounds, she thinks maybe Emanuel is interested in la gorda. Kristel spits her drink all over herself. Mauricio spends the whole scene lurking in the pool nearby.

Marianela is in a chapel, begging the Virgencita to save Emanuel’s life and take hers instead, if necessary. She has his blood on her face. Why doesn’t she ever wash stuff off her face? What a slob. Brandon comes in and assures her that Emanuel is in good hands (that’s debatable) and everything will be fine. The doctor comes and tells them that Emanuel doesn’t have any skull fractures or edemas, just a concussion. Do they know whether he’s had any previous head injuries? Marianela remembers knocking him out with the box of chocolates, and tells the doctor. The doctor says Emanuel needs to stay for 24 hours for observation, and they need a blood donor. Brandon offers, but Marianela insists that she will do it.

Kristel laughs and laughs at Ilitia’s absurd suspicion. The episode must have been a bit short because then Mauricio wants to know what she’s laughing about and Kristel repeats the whole story to him. Ilitia is not amused.

Fedra and Bernardo search Marianela’s bedroom but don’t seem to find anything useful to them. Bernardo says at least they have experience; they did the same thing to Mari’s mother years ago! They laugh uproariously, remembering how Eva thought the house was haunted by Luis Felipe. They think Mari will be as easy to manipulate as her mother. Fedra tells Eva’s photo that she has a gift for her: she’s going to buy her daughter a ticket to join her over there.

Mauricio and Kristel assure Ilitia that they were just teasing. Of course Emanuel is not interested in Marianela! She is just a charity project for him! “Since when do charity projects make men not want to have relations?” asks Ilitia. “Qué?!” They cannot imagine such a horror. Ilitia assures them it is true. Mauricio agrees that this is a serious situation, but he has an idea. After he’s through, Marianela will never want to see another man in her life!

Emanuel is lying unconscious in bed. Marianela comes in with the doctor, saying she’ll give her cousin as much blood as he needs. The doc says it’s actually not for him, it’s just to restock the supply. Take a pint, leave a pint, is the hospital’s policy, I guess. Marianela beams at Emanuel, and still no one has suggested that she wash her face.

Nereida tells Fedra she has a call. Fedra flirts outrageously with her “designer,” “Jean François,” who wants her to come “try on his new designs.” She agrees to meet him tomorrow. Bernardo is not such a fan of his fashions, it seems.

The police have come to the big house, and Delicia reports to Benigno, who reports to Nereida, that Emanuel has been run over and is in the hospital.

Marianela hovers at Emanuel’s side, asking him not to die, because she can’t stand to live in that house without him. He is like a light in the darkness. She remembers him telling her that he will never fail her and she can count on him for anything. She kisses him on the forehead and says “te quiero,” and then, “te amo,” and she goes for the lips.

Nereida tells an abusive Fedra about Emanuel’s accident. Fedra yells at her that she’s crazy.

Marianela rebukes herself for kissing Emanuel, then giggles madly, then begs his forgiveness (he’s still zonked out), then chastises herself some more, then says he’ll never know, then decides she had to say and do that, because “te quiero, te quiero mucho.” He wakes up, scaring her.

Fedra assaults the police officer, demanding that he tell her that her son is okay. He shakes her off. She rants that the rat that ran over her darling probably ran off like a coward, right?! No, says the officer, he took Emanuel to the hospital, along with the victim’s cousin. “La GORDA?” Of course, to Fedra this is even worse than the running over.

Emanuel tries to get up, and Marianela tries to stop him. He says hospitals don’t have good Feng Shui for him and he’s allergic to them. She makes him lie down again. Once he’s accepted that he has to stay for observation, she tries to find out how much he heard before he woke up. He remembers the crash, but after that, just a headache. She’s relieved. Mari explains how she happened to be there when he was hit, hesitating and making very clear that it was all just an accident before admitting that it was Brandon who was driving. “That snotty poli?”

Netty arrives at home, gushing to Gladiola how well the meeting with the lawyer went. She does not notice that Emiliano is behind her. “This lawyer is going to help me get Marianela what is hers from the Ruiz y de Teresa family!” she exclaims. “I don’t think that will be necessary,” says Emiliano. Netty fans herself furiously.

Marianela begs Emanuel not to get all riled up. The accident was not Brandon’s fault! {Except that it was.} He settles down. Then he notices she has blood on her face, and worries that she’s hurt. No, it’s just his, from when she was holding him in the ambulance. He thanks her for saving his life and wipes off the blood, which has not dried in all this time. They hug. Now that everything’s all settled, Emanuel decides once again that he’s ready to go home. Marianela tries to get him to rest, but he stands up, then gets dizzy and collapses on the floor. Marianela shrieks for help.

Oliver hauls Axel and Alfredo into the police station in handcuffs, with Gretel and Fabiola trailing along and protesting. Oliver tries some patronizing sweet talk on Gretel and gets an earful for his trouble. The comisario walks in and wants to know what’s going on. Oliver explains. Sounds like he takes his police duty a little too seriously and too far. Gretel stares at him, then seems to nod in approval.

Marianela imagines that she is an olde-tymey nurse and Emanuel is a soldier dying in a smoke-filled war zone with machine gun fire in the background. “Caldito…de pollo…” says soldier Emanuel, but it was actually real Emanuel. “What?” says Mari. He says all he needs to recover is a little chicken broth…and maybe a blood transfusion, so he can get out of here quicker. She says she’ll give him plenty of blood. He calls her beautiful and she hugs him again.

Brandon calls the pension and tells his mother about the accident.

A nurse has gotten Emanuel back into bed. He’s sleeping again, and Marianela tells him she’ll stay there and take care of him. She calls him “mi amor” and confesses that she is in love with him. Fedra walks in and immediately blames Marianela for the accident and threatens that she will pay.

Emiliano tells Netty that Tia Carlota is the albacea (executor) of Luis Felipe’s estate, and Marianela will get the money when she is 21. Gladiola runs in and tells them that Brandon ran over Emanuel. Impactados.

Fedra is still blaming Marianela for everything ad infinitum and says if Emanuel dies, she will kill Mari with her own hands. Mari insists that it was an accident. Fedra is not interested in facts. She digs her claws into Mari’s arms and growls at her menacingly. Emanuel wakes up and asks what’s going on, and Fedra rushes over, all sweetness and concern for her baby.

Oliver finally calls Brandon back. He says he was busy before. Brandon asks if he was busy with the same old thing, trying to get into the university. Oliver says he is going to do it because he wants to improve himself. He just needs to get a scholarship. Brandon thinks maybe he’s really just interested in the high concentration of pretty young ladies at the university. “Speaking of which, guess who I have here in the delegation!” says Oliver.

The dumb police have foolishly left our fighting foursome in an office by themselves. Alfredo continues taunting Axel about not being a man, and when the ladies try to make him stop, he laughs that Axel needs girls to do his fighting for him. Gretel gets offended and attacks Alfredo and starts to strangle him. This gives her flashbacks. We see her as a little girl, watching from a hiding place as freckled lady hands strangle her uncle.

Fedra makes a big show of fussing over Emanuel. It would be more heartwarming if she didn’t interrupt herself every three seconds to spew the haterade all over Marianela. “I know very well that you planned all this to kill my son!” crazy Fedra garbles. Mari and Emanuel are both stunned.

Tomorrow: Ilitia finds out about Emanuel’s accident. She swears revenge. Fedra goes to the police station to make a murder accusation (even though Emanuel is not dead).

El Clon Tuesday August 24: Summary for Discussion

Capítulo 134/160: Leo, Dora and Daniel set off to see the Wizard; Daniel does, it seems, have a soul; but Leonard has no heart; Fernando passes his first test; Natalia, alas, does not.

At Dora’s place, Leo embraces a wide-eyed, confused Daniel. He begs him to come live with him at Casa Ferrer. Daniel wants Albieri to explain what is happening. So Leonardo, Dora and Daniel set off to see the Wizard. Good-bye Grandmother, says Daniel sweetly. (And poignantly since we wonder if he will still think of her as his grandmother the next time he sees her.)

At their apartment, Natalia flatly denies knowing anything about the sound system Alejandro bought, even though the neighbor saw her carrying it out. She also denies buying drugs in the street, deflecting blame to Diana and Pablo, who have never approved of her. Alej gradually softens his stance, then tells her about his upcoming training bouts. She promises she’ll be at all of them.

Fernando shows up at Empresas Ferrer ready for business. He announces he is a new person. He realized that drugs were ruining his life. He is back in the band and ready to reclaim his life. His support group – Clara, Carolina and Andrea -- want to believe him; they are hopeful that he is serious.

Just outside, he passes his first test: Paula is lurking with an offer of drugs: ¡Mira lo que conseguí! (look what I got!) He turns down the offer. Tú te lo pierdes (Your loss), she says.

Natalia is doing the washing up at the apartment, when Paula calls with the same offer. Unfortunately, Nati flunks the test. Voy para allá. (I’m on my way.) she says.

Said is sitting in the garden of his home when Rania (who is clearly the type who just can’t allow a scab to heal – she has to pick and pick until it bleeds and hurts) asks him if he turned Jade away just so she can realize how much she is giving up.

Inside the house, the Naz spins another tale of Princesa Nazira and her malvados hermanos (evil brothers) who are determined to keep the Princess from romance and happiness. Said joins them and gets to hear how el Príncipe Pablo gets captured, but eventually he and Princesa Nazira flee on his moto making use of the skills of Ali Baba and the forty thieves along the way (all of whom, of course, are left pining for the beautiful Princesa). And what happened to the evil brothers? asks Jadiya. Los quemó como carneros.

Luisa and Albiera are still at home, anxiously awaiting the hour of their rendezvous with Dora and Leo. They are startled by Dra Silvia’s unannounced visit. She is furious that Albieri has made her complicit in what he has done since she was the one who actually implanted the embryo in Dora. She says:
Nadie tiene el derecho de experimentar con la vida de los demás.
No one has the right to experiment with the lives of others.
Then she adds what Albieri has been dreading:
Yo te voy a denunciar ante la FDA.
I’m going to denounce you to the FDA.
He begs for a little time, just long enough to explain things to those he has hurt.

Outside Gloria’s, Amin is ogling, as always. Ramón tells him that Karla is pregnant and the baby’s father is a millionaire. We catch a glimpse of Alej inside with his mother.

Alej comes home from Gloria’s with a care package for their lunch. Natalia is gone!

Lucia and Marisa are strolling through The Only Mall in Miami, talking about the care and feeding of husbands. They catch sight of Natalia and Paula, swaying on the railing and obviously, embarrassingly high. “Necesito dinero” (I need money) says Natalia in way of greeting. When Marisa turns her down, she practically spits at her: “Me las vas a pagar, arpía”. (You’ll pay for that, you hag!) Marisa leads Lucia away, mumbling something about adolescent rebellion. Despite Marisa’s attempt to minimize what just happened, Lucia looks disturbed.

Rosa and Marina (the other maid) admit Leo, Dora and Daniel to the Casa Ferrer. Rosa’s eyes fill with tears, and Daniel asks: Why do you always cry when you see me?

Alí and Zoraida are talking about Jade. Alí feels her upbringing in the west is to blame for her sad fate. He remarks:
La gente se parece más a la tierra que a la madre y padre.
People resemble their environment more than they do their parents.
He also wants to talk more to Albieri even thought Zoraida considers him a genio malo for creating the sombra. Alí says that:
Esa sombra tiene alma.
That shadow has a soul.
It seems that Alí consulted another sheik and they concluded that Daniel’s soul entered his body through the breath of Allah.

Dora and Leo demand an explanation from Albieri. He tells them:
Daniel es un clon de Lucas.
Leo can’t believe his ears: ¿Qué estás diciendo? (What are you saying?)
For her part, Dora collapses onto the couch. ¿Un clon? she repeats weakly.
She is convinced that Albieri is insane, but Leo wants to know the details. Albieri begins his self-serving explanation of scientific progress. Leo cuts him off: No me interesa la humanidad! (I’m not interested in humanity!) he says.

Daniel has not been part of this conversation. Rosa, who is still convinced that he is a product of reincarnation, has taken him up to Diego’s room and talks to him about his death and rebirth. He tries to explain that he hasn’t died.

Downstairs, Albi again tries to justify what he did. He says that when Diego died, “Yo estaba destrozado” (I was devastated, destroyed). Leo again cuts him off saying he doesn’t care how Albieri felt. He just wants to know how he did it. So Albieri explains how he used Lucas’s cells taken from the biopsy specimen; how he removed all genetic material from Dora’s egg. And how Dora sólo prestó su vientre (Dora only lent her womb/belly) to the undertaking.

Albieri laments that he couldn’t create the environment that Diego required because Dora took Daniel/Diego away from him. But why didn’t you tell me what you had done? asks Leo. I could have had him with me all this time. I was afraid you wouldn’t understand, says Albieri. I was afraid I’d go to jail.

Back on the street outside Gloria’s, Karla tells her mother she’s afraid the pregnancy will ruin her figure. One word, says Hilda: Plastics. (Well, two actually: plastic surgery)
Amin and Samira are outside bickering.

We are in a park-like setting. Pedro is putting the Naz through her work-out but tells her the veil is getting in the way. Pablo is working with Diana. Natalia and Paula pass by, still flying. Pablo phones Alej (who has to interrupt his training session to take the call) to report the latest Natalia sighting.

And in Casa Ferrer, Leo is still asking why Albi didn’t tell him what he had done sooner. It would have changed my life, he says. It would have given me another chance to raise my son, to correct my mistakes. I was too afraid, Albi says again.

Leo has not given any thought to Dora. It’s up to Albieri to remind him:
Dora no va a verlo con buenos ojos.
Dora isn’t going to look favorably at this.
After all, says Albieri, Dora lo crió. (Dora raised him.)
Leo’s response:
Si esa mujer quiere guerra, guerra la va a tener.
If that woman wants war, war she will have.

And ‘esa mujer’ is trying to get her son out of that house while Rosa prevails upon her to let him stay for a while and look at some pictures. He belonged to this house before he was yours, she says, referring to a reincarnated Diego. And somehow Rosa convinces Dora and Daniel to stay a bit longer. Daniel wants to see the pictures.

In the final scene, Lucas arrives home where he is greeted by a stricken-looking Marina. What’s wrong? asks Lucas. You look like you’ve seen a ghost!

Credits roll.
