Teresa Mon 9/5/11 #131 RRRRRRrrrrata-Trapped By The RRRRRRRrrrrrata Pack

The two-minute rewind: Lucia is introduced to Juana by Luisa as her maid of honor; Juana agrees to make her a dress.  (We wonder when word will leak out and Juana will finally strike it rich by becoming couturier to The Rich and Famous of D.F.); Teresa and Arturo arrive at the Casota to begin the workday as Fernando comes in from his morning jog.  He warns Tere that Art’s still testing her loyalty and love and is having her watched.   Bummer!

In Cuernevaca at the Retreat House, Aurora is delighted to receive the jillionth and one bouquet from Mariono.  (Just looking at the pile of pots on her table makes me sneeze and my nose runny!) “I am sick from love, Doctor. When will you be able to take care of me?”  She begins to call him on the preprogrammed phone (we assume) he gave her early on, but then decides it would be better to talk to him in person instead.

Back at the Casota de La de la Barrera, Tere whimpers she doesn’t know what else she can do to convince the hunky hubster that she loves him.  Nando says just to be patient.  He tried talking some sense into him but Art just wouldn’t listen.  She walks off in tears; Nando’s hard to read but it could be that he’s had enough of Arturo and his whining wife.

At Elegant Acres, Genoveva is giving her maid the third degree about her niece who just had a baby.  Genovenom has a proposition for her and wants to meet with her.

Tere stops back at the ‘Hood to make a quick visit to Juana’s.  Lucia and Lu are still there.  Juana explains about the dress job.  Tere knows a true threat when she sees one and plants a frozen smile on her face as she greets the buxom Bubbles and says “Hey” to Lu.  While Juana and Lu go to the back room to check on something, Bubbles smiles brightly and tells Teresa she heard about Art’s financial setback and is certain things will right themselves in no time at all!  Tere raises a well-groomed  eyebrow.   “--How can you be so sure?”  Well he had nothing once before after his parents died but he alone managed to turn things around and his request for the inheritance was finally granted!  (Bubbles may be gawd-awful bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for 8 AM, but common sense doesn’t seem to be her forte.)  This is not exactly what Tere wanted to hear from an employee, especially after the nasty news from Nando earlier.   Her voice is icy and patronizing.  Yes, she’s sure of it and she’ll stand by him during the whole process—and a.l.w.a.y.s. (Ala shark-byte chica-speak: so get your bodacious boob job, your big butt and that bucktooth grin of yours outta my face, B!tch!  I’ve been around this block before!  I been there, done that, got the tee-shirt!)  Boobalicious Bubbles’s blindingly bright smile dims ju-u-u-u-s-s-st a bit.

On the other side of Elegant Acres, Aurora stops in for an unexpected visit home and tells Daddy about her plans to help Mariano with their award-winning project after all.  Hector the Director is dead set against it.  The last thing he wants is for his little girl to get a big booboo from bad-boy Mariano.  Hec doesn’t thing Mariano’s totally over Teresa and will end up hurting her like he did Aida.  Aurora says Aida asked for it and anyway, Mariano was up front with her about things. She’s sure that Tere still loves Mar and is only with Art for his money. Besides, Aurora’s decided she’s a big girl now and can handle anything—even a confrontation with Teresa.  The blinders are off where Tere’s now concerned.

Back in the bilge of the barrio, Bubbles tries to make nice by asking why she feels like Tere doesn’t much care for her.  What is she worried about?  Teresa guffaws and asks why she’d be worried about the likes of her?  Oh, says the luscious Lucia with an irritating, Jane Seymour signature crook of a smile, that I’m working for your husband.  “—Excuuuuuuuuse me!  You’re working for both of us!  Got it?  We are a pair—partners!”  Just then Juana and Lu return.  Lu and Lu leave for work.  Juana starts describing the type of dress she’s making for Lucia (I think?) but Teresa shuts her up ASAPP!  She doesn’t want to hear a thing about that…female.  “--Why?”  “--Because she’s flirting and going after my husband and she doesn’t make any bones about the fact he likes her!”  Tere says she loves Art, but if he keeps screwing up, she’s going to divorce him and head out on her own!

Teresa explains that because Art still doubts her love for him, he refuses to accept a loan from Fernando which would allow them to return to their earlier economic level.  Juana agrees with Art for not wanting to accept a loan, much less from his future brother-in-law!!  It would only cause trouble.  Well, says Tere, he’ll have trouble for real if he doesn’t change his ways and fast!  Juana wants an explanation.  Tere viers into a safer direction and suggests that since Fer doesn’t like the way Art’s treating her, he and Luisa (her BFF) will start to have problems for sure whenever it’s brought up.  Juana suggests that Tere discuss things with Art if she’s worried that this Lucia babe is throwing herself at him like that.  Nope, says Tere, not in a million years would she let him know she’s dying of jealousy!  So, if the jerk doesn’t get his act together and soon, she’s ditching him!

Juana wonders if she’d go looking for Mariano if she gets divorced.  No, says Tere, though it wouldn’t be a bad idea.  He says he’s over her, but she knows he still has it bad for her.  However, she’s got bigger fish in mind than either Mariano or Art if that happens.  Juana corrects her and says don’t be so sure about Mar.  He is now deeply in love with Aurora. Who in their right mind could fall in love with a spoiled, tantrum-throwing and reckless [lanzada] girl like Aeeeeeda. But Teresa’s sure it’s just like when Mar dated Aida.  No, don’t think so, says Juana.  “Well, good for Aurora then,” says Tere decidedly.  Juan gives her one last bit of advice.  “--Instead of daydreaming about things that will never happen, you should put your mind to working along side your husband if you’re so worried about what Lucia might do.”

Aurora tells Daddy Director she’s a big girl now and she’s got to grow up some time, so like it or not, she’s decided to go to Zacatecas and take whatever comes, period.

Back at Oficinita de los dos de la Barrera, the buxom Bubbles finishes a bit of dictation and begins to pout.  She mentions to Art that something’s bothering her about Teresa.  Seems she might be jealous of Bubbles because of their working together.  Art chuckles and says it is flattering to have someone consider a woman as beautiful as she a reason for jealousy, and she could be correct.  Anyway, their relationship started because the two of them used to work together.  If she would like, he’ll have a chat with his wife about it.  No, says Bubbles.  She doesn’t have a problem with anything.  Sure he’s handsome, but she’s not interested in him sexually, and she understands her boundaries. (Suuuuuuuure.)   He smiles and says ditto.  (Riiiiggghhht.)  The whole time she’s been doodling.

Meanwhile, Juana opens another final letter from functionally illiterate Cutberto.  (Viewerville wonders if he had either Mariano or his uncle help him write it.)  She tearfully reads  Buttberto’s grammatically challenged missive of love and devotion asking her to let her heart choose for her, and to know that he’s perfectly willing to adopt an orphan since she’s now barren.  FF>>

In Zacatecas,  Buttberto and his uncle discuss making wedding arrangements in case Juana gives him a yes.  Unk says well, even if she gives him the heave ho, there are plenty of beautiful babes around these parts who’d jump at the chance to hook up and tie the knot with him!  FF>>

Tere returns from a short visit with mama.  Juana gives her the bad news: she’s decided to marry Buttberto.  (I say cut the apron strings now and stop wasting your time!)  Tere warns her that that way lies poverty and problems!  So what, says Juana.  All marriages have problems.  Look at your marriage!  I’d say it’s better when that happens that you're with someone you really love, wouldn’t you agree?  Tere stops in her tracks and gives her the oops-a-daisy once over.

Back to Elegant Acres at Casa de las Caceras, Aeeeda is giving Mayra grief for being such a wet blanket now when it comes to getting even with the bane of her daughter’s existence: Teresa de la Barerra Chavez.  Doesn’t she get that the broad is at the root of all their trial and tribulation?  Mayra tho’, is totally transformed and is staying true to her New Age persona: forgive and forget and then be reborn again; bitterness is bad for one’s self-image and revenge fills life with totally negative energies; only when you recognize this will you be truly free!  Just then Genoveva arrives with her newly “adopted” baby boy who is actually her maid’s grand-nephew.  She passes him off as hers.  Aeeeda and Mayra are thrilled and decide to take pictures of the little one for their photo album.  Gen is in one heck of a bind.

Juana asks Johnny where Buttberto’s gone since she went to visit and found his door was padlocked shut.  Johnny tells her he’s returned to Zacatecas.  He thought she knew he left since he only did it because she’d given him the bum’s rush.

Juana returns to her apartment in tears.  Teresa tries to comfort her.  No use, says Juana.  She didn’t know until Buttberto left this time how much she really loves him.  (Viewerville gags and throws up a little in their mouth.  So does Teresa.)  FF>>

At the same time, Buttberto wanders around aimlessly (as he’s aparrently jobless) and thinks back to his bedroom antics with Juana.  FF>>FF>>

That night Teresa’s walking the halls of TOHIMC (the only hospital in Mexico City) and runs into Aeeeeda again.  “—Well if it ain’t the biggest gutter rat in all of Mexico!”  Tere greets her and asks what her problem is now.  Aeeeda yells at her for persuading Amadeo, Daddy’s accountant, to cheat him and then to turn him into the authorities so he ende up in prison!  Tere chuckles and says naw, her daddy knows how to lie very well by himself.  Any fraud committed was his doing and his alone!  Although, she has to admit (with a big sh!t-eating grin) that she advised him to turn him in.  Aeeeda tries to haul off and slap Teresa, but this time she’s ready for the blonde barker in heat and grabs her arm.   “—I told you once upon a time that if you continued to upset me I’d destroy your family and I’ve done it!”  (Viewerville gets a glimpse of Art’s driver and his extra-large ears flapping in the hallway breeze about 10 feet back.)  Aeeeda accuses Tere of stabbing people in the back but Tere says no, she was warned and that’s not going behind somebody’s back, now is it?  Not only have I destroyed your family, but you’ve lost both Paulo and Mariano.  Tsk.  So now you’re all alone  You are a solitary female [mujer sola]. Tsk. Tsk.   Aeeeda makes a play on Teresa’s words.  Yes, she’s may be a mujer sola, but Teresa is a mujerzuela [a whore]!

On another side of the hospital, Esperanza is chatting with Mariano about Mayra’s making nice and wondering if one day she can do the same with Aeeeda.  Nothing would make him happier, since of course, Aeeeda is Rodriguito’s older sister.  What about him and Tere, she asks?  Not much of a chance, he feels.

Back in the hallway, Tere reminds Aeeeda that she’s a married woman, a Sra., if you please.  Ah, yes, a Sra. who sleeps with other men before her wedding day and who will certainly leave hubby once he loses the last little bit of wealth he has left.  Tere says she knows he’ll soon be back to his former level and BTW, do you know where we’re living now?  Yeah, says Aeeeda.  Of course, it’s a loaner.  Nope, RENTED, and soon it will be mine!  And, guess what else?  I’m Mariano’s neighbor now!  Oh, says Aeeeda, will you try to get him back once Arturo’s pesoless?  FYI, says Teresa, he’s not going to be pesoless, much less me!  Aeeeda hates her and she’s going to hurt her where it hurts her the most—in her wallet!  And she’s going to do all in her power to prove to everyone what a hypocrite she is!  If Aeeed tries it, well, she and everyone else will learn that they cannot get the better of her, so Aeeeda might as well give it up.  Nothin’ doin’, says Aeeeda.  She’ll come after her if it’s the last thing she ever does!  Till she’s breathed her last.  Well, then die tryin’ cuz nobody can beat me.  Between existance and non-existence, I am, she smiles matter-of-factly.  Aeeeda is bleeding out the eye-balls by now she’s so angry.

Back at Oficinita de los de la Barerra, Bubbles and Art finish the workday.  He’s off to TOHIMC to catch up with Tere and check on Rodriguito’s progress.  They air kiss.  She waits till he’s out the door and sighs over the pencilled portrait she’s made of him while doodling instead of taking dictation.  (Oh, that’s right, she’s got a proposal of some sort still to give to him.  Dunno what about, tho’.)

At the hospital, Rubigote shows up with a copy of the judge’s order and the DNA test showing that he is the baby-daddy and has full paternity rights over the kid. Steam starts curling out around and from all Hernan the Galan’s cranial aperatures.

Arturo arrives and finds Tere in Rodriguito’s little room.  She kisses him hello and says she’s got Jacinot near to avoid Art worrying she’s just there to see Mariano all the time.  He says ahhem and BTW if this is your way of trying to calm me down and to persuade me to accept Fernando’s offer, then forget it.  I’m not going to.  Teresa is drop-jawed and speechless impactada.
======================== (part 2)

Teresa is saucer-eyed and temporarily speechless impactada.  “--Wh-wh-what do you mean?”  He knows, he says, that she and his sis have been discussing it is all.  “--Well, it’s not right, what you’re doing!”  Finally she threatens that if he doesn’t get moving and talk about setting up an office with Fernando, then she will herself!  Art stares down his nose at her and is shocked, shocked that Tere would threaten him this way!

Down the hall a ways, Hernan, Espe, and El Bigote continue arguing over Roddy.  Espe is nearly in tears as she listens.  Hernan says it’s a shame that Ruben has to turn this into some sort of a contest and doesn’t give a rap about what’s best for Rodrigo in any of this.  El Bigote sniffs and says tuff turnips.  He’s not giving up his rights and will win the court case.  Espe figures being in jail was a wasted learning experience for the brute.  He sniffs and his fur lip vibrates and undulates even more.   He tells them he’s not there for them to judge him, only to see after his son!  He’s heads down the hall and they trail after him.

In their godson’s sickroom, Tere and Art continue quibbling over Art’s not accepting Nando’s offer.  She made the tactical error of telling him honestly what she intended: to set up the office and take care of his business empire’s legal needs herself if he’ll agree to it.  Arturo says he figured she didn’t want him to do so because of Oriana.    Tere thought that he’d do it instead and they’d have no problem then.  But he didn’t and it had nothing to do with Luisa and Fernando’s relationship, but rather because he still doesn’t trust her or think she loves him!  Word up, Arturito!  “—You might want to punish me, and it may not matter to you whether you recover financially!  But I am getting sick and tired of putting up with your little tests!”  And now Art’s nose is totally stuck out of joint and his mouth is puckered like he really should be in the can for a dump ‘n pump.

Aeeeda is now griping (aaaa-gain!) to Mariano about her latest claws ‘n paws with Teresa.  He tells her she needs to forget about Teresa and anything she might do.  Aeeeda says no way!  Doesn’t he realize that Teresa’s the one responsible for her mami throwing her papi in jail????  Mar just crinkles up his nose and frowns like doesn’t this.broad.get.it?

Back in Roddy’s sickroom, Art goes after Teresa.  Sure it’s normal to have doubts and to get impatient about returning to the old lifestyle, but remember the offer he made was to me and NOT you, he says.  “--He needs somebody he can trust legally is all.”  Art gets his back up.  “—The days where I’d listen and agree to everything you say are long over!  Things are going to be done like I say and I’m not going to put up with your temper tantrums.  Perhaps I’m to blame also for the way things are and for not doing this from the start, but love for you blinded me and I bowed to everything you wanted.”  Tere glares at him.  “—You say it as if you’re some sort of saint!”  He tells her not to go back bringing up Paloma again because he’s not going to listen to it.  No, she yells back, it’s more like Lucia this time!  Don’t think I don’t notice how she interests you and how much you like working with her!”

Rubigote follows his mustache into the room and greets the two after hearing Art yelling about her being jealous.  He hands Tere the judge’s order.  She reads it over.

Aeeeda explains to Mariano how Tere knew her father’s accountant and the whole story behind his stealing from her mother, and how she advised him to turn her daddy into the cops.  Mar says he finds it hard to believe.  (Something doesn’t compute here.  What difference does it make if she did or didn’t.  The two were guilty and she told her “client” to turn himself in and turn state’s evidence, right?  So ol’ Amadeo got immunity is all.  Big fat deal.)  She’s out for vengeance!  Mariano shuts her up and tells her she should listen to herself.  The problem is the two of them are constantly one-upping one another and the sick cycle just continues.  Somebody’s got to put the brakes on already!

Tere and Art are waiting for Rubigote to finish his “visit” with Roddy.  Art and she are talking about Ruben’s seeing his son as being harmful [dañino] just as said brute shows up.  He tells them he’d rather they stop interfering with his rights as Roddy’s daddy.  Tere reminds him neither his son nor Espe ever mattered a whit to him, otherwise he’d have divorced his wife right off the bat.  As it was, he was too busy stealing Mayra blind!  Rube says, well, I’d have been able to settle things and nothing would have gone wrong with Luna Turquesa but you didn’t give me time.  Why?  Because you were in cahoots with Amadeo and you were the one who advised him to turn me in!  He tells Arturo he has no idea of the type of viper he’s married to.  Art looks at Tere with new-found suspicion.

Aeeeda is upset to hear Mariano defend Tere again.  No, just that he’s worried about her.  She takes it as his feeling something deeper.  He pulls her off him and tells her she’s got to learn to live and do by herself now.  He’s sorry about it, but he’s not going to be the one with her.

Tere tells Rubigote that he’s got his head up his anal orifice if he thinks she had anything to do with Amadeo turning him in.  And if he remembers, she and Art were in Europe then, so it must be something else ridiculous that Aeeeeda’s blaming her for.  Riiiiiight, says Rubigote.  He then turns to Art and warns him that Teresa will be his undoing if he stick with her.  “--Ok then, we’ll be seeing each other often since I’ll be very attentive to my son’s health.”  He walks out and Art asks Tere if she really had advised Amadeo to turn in his boss.  He remembers that she called the accountant numerous times while they were in Europe.  She admits it and says it was to discuss other things, but if he’d asked her whether to report him to the authorities or not she would have told him to definitely go ahead!  Art is not a happy camper.

The next morning at the Casota, Luisa and Tere discuss how she told Art that she’d handle setting up Fernando’s legal affairs office if her brother wouldn’t.  “--Who better than a dear friend whom he could trust completely, right?”  Tere knows that Luisa will race back to Fer with the argument and if she’s planned her strategy properly, he’ll be eating out of Tere’s hand and it’ll be Legal Affairs Office de España here I come!   Just then Teresa gets an unexpected call from Aeeeda asking for a Luna Turquesa board meeting that afternoon.  She races into Art’s office, snubbing Lustylicious Lucia over her proposals of something or other, to let him know that there’ll be a board meeting there at the Casota with the whole lot of the L.Q. group, if it’s all right with him. She has no idea what “decisions” it is they’re thinking of taking.  Yes?  Then she’ll let them know right away.

Over at Genovenom’s, Rubigote and Aeeeda yuck it up about how upset Teresa was that he’d gotten that judgment from the court allowing him visitation of her godson.  They’re all in agreement that Teresa needs to pay for all their problems, yada, yada, yada.

That afternoon, Mariano arrives in Zacatecas.  He finds Buttberto who introduces him to his uncle.  They go sightseeing.  He tells Buttberto about his project.  FF>>

Back at the Casota, Gen, Aeeeda and Ruben show up together instead of Martin.  Aeeeda explains that Marti sold his shares to Rubigote, so now the three of them are majority shareholders.   Ruben says that they will refuse to accept any of their propositions and Aeeeda says that means that they have no choice but to either
buy up their shares from them--which would be difficult considering they’re short of funds now--or to sell the three of them their shares at a very low price.  The three of them don’t care if they lose money on the deal or not and they will do whatever necessary to slow down the construction just so the two of them lose what little Art and she have financially. Tere and Art’s stomach’s do flip-flops till after the commercial break.

Tere gets hold of herself and asks why they’d try something like this?  Oh, come on, says Aeeeeda, you’ve done much worse!  Daddy seconds it, blaming her for his being in jail.  Tere throws that back in his face.  “Get real!  You landed in jail because you stole and were caught red-handed!”  She turns to Aeeeda and asks how she could put up with him after that.  Art tries reasoning with Gen, but she plays innocent third party and says there is so much bad blood between his wife and Ruben and Aeeeda that she’s got no choice but to side with them.  (Well, if Teresa likes playing hard-ball, then she should really enjoy fighting her way out of this screw-job!)  They have been mouse-trapped  by the L.Q. RRRRRrrrrata Pack.

Across town, Hector stops by Juana’s only to find out she’s dumping him for Buttberto.  Cara de impactado de Hector the Director.  He leaves with his tail between his legs.  FF>>

Back at the oficinito, Art is pissed and thinks he can comb through the case and find some legal way to stop the L.Q. R.P.   Tere, tho’, has smelled blood in the water!  She wants her pound of rrrrrata pack flesh!  They’ll stall the project for years or force them to sell to them at a laughable price, she opinse aloud.  She turns and sneers at Art then, telling him it’s all his fault for not having accepted Fernando’s offer to buy the shares early on.  He looks guilty as charged. --Yeah, Tere not only knows where and when to grab hubby by the s and c’s but when and where to squeeze.-- Art gets up and says there was no way he could have guessed what they’d try.   He attempts to reassure her and suggests that they shouldn’t be arguing right now.  Instead, they should be pulling together and trying to figure a way out of this mess.

Tere looks Art in the eyes and tells him that she’s enraged at what they’re trying to pull.  It’s the only thing of value the two of them have and there’s no way they can allow Ruben and Aeeeda to snatch it away from them like that, let alone to be mocked by those two that way!  “—You can’t understand me. No, nobody has ever mocked you like that because of your background [condición]!!  But me?  You see how happy she was to throw back in my face that I should be back in my rightful place: impoverished and begging for charity!”  She slams her fists on his desk and the heartfelt tears come rolling off her cheeks.  Art looks at the dirt on his shoes and wishes there were a crack to crawl into.  “—But I’m not going to allow her to, Arturo!  I’m going to find a way to fix this!”  Art hugs her and asks her to calm down.  They’ll try to fix it together, she’ll see.  No, her eyes are bugging out of her head at this point.  It’s sink or swim and if Art can’t help her float she’ll crawl on top of him for air whether he drowns in the process or not.

Back in Zacatecas, the sightseeing comes to a halt.  Aurora is waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs in the plaza of some famous land mark.  The two run to each other’s arms for a meaningful embrace.  She’s come to assist him with his project.  Happy, happy!  Joy, joy!

In Elegant Acres, La Odiosa Oriana and Aeeeda drink a toast to Teresa’s shock and dismay.  Odiana congratulates Aeeeda for giving Tere the coup de grace where it hurt most.   Aeeeda is certain Teresa will abandon Art now that they’re totally broke.  Perhaps, but for now Odiana will no doubt have to stomach her at Luisa’s wedding.  Hopefully she’ll set her sights on some other millionaire, says Aeeeda.  They toast again at that suggestion.

Tere’s gone home to the apartment they’re renting from Nando.  He walks in and she receives him sadly. He understands there were problems again between her and Art.  She says he obviously heard from Luisa that there was an argument and that she left in a huff.  Lu says she tried to get an explanation from her brother but he clammed up.  Tere tearfully explains why because he refused to take his offer to buy the shares of LQ from them, now they’re going to have to practically give them away to Ruben and Aeeeda.  She walks off weeping.  He grabs her shoulders from behind, puts his head onto hers and tells her to calm down.  She rolls her eyes, playing him for all he’s worth.  She’s desperate now, she tells him.  She faces him then and asks if she could open up the legal affairs office for him instead of Art like he’d suggested, would he  agree to her running it?  He frowns and shakes his head.  “No, Teresa.  No, not even for you would I do something like that.”  Cara de impactada de Teresa…..

La Pola - September 5, 2011 - Behind the Scenes

La Pola fans, Aleta, as promised, sent me these behind the scenes shots taken during the filming of La Pola. As you can see it was the setting for the sad execution of Carbonel that we watched Friday night.

I've also added shots taken from the show itself for comparison.

and didn't Pola look great as Carbonel's wife?

She should dress up more.

And as a bonus watch and listen to this and this. Can we ever get enough of Pola and Alejo?

Thanks for sharing your photos with us Aleta, what a nice Labor Day treat.

El Mundo de Telemundo, Week of September 5, 2011: Discuss Amongst Yourselves

LA CASA DE AL LADO -- viernes

Gonzalo is frantic.
He is furious at Adolfo for kidnapping Renato. In spite of Gonzalo's objections, Rebeca has called the police to look into Renato’s disappearance. She openly challenges Gonzalo’s decisions and behavior. It seems...
...como si hubieras querido que Renato Conde no apareciera.
(...as if you didn’t want Renato Conde to be found.)
And further...
... como si estuvieras poniendo trabas en la búsqueda.
(... as if you were putting obstacles in the way of the search.)
[Does Rebeca have an inkling of the dark truth? Maybe not. She’s probably thinking Gonzalo is helping Renato find a safe place to hide just as she did.]

Meanwhile, Renato’s attempt at escape has been thwarted and he is chloroformed into unconsciousness, bound and gagged.

Gonzalo phones his brother and tells him exactly what to do next. We don’t hear what he says on the phone but we do see Adolfo dragging Renato away. Then we hear Adolfo taunting his father, Igor, saying that Renato got what he deserved. It doesn’t look good for don Renato.

A gentleman (maybe) caller:
Omar shows up at the Casa Conde looking for Carola. Ignacia hustles him off to her studio to try to pump him for information about Carola’s life outside the house. Omar is spooked when he sees a photo of Ignacia and Gonzalo (that’s my husband, Ignacia tells him) and remembers Carola showing him a phone photo of that same lumpen face and announcing that Gonzalo was her true love. Omar gets out of there fast all the while muttering to himself: She’s in love with her own brother-in-law!

Carola and Ignacia are more easily manipulated than Rebeca. Even so, when Ignacia shows up with another breathless update – Iñaki called her cell phone and threatened her -- Gonzalo realizes his little brother has made a fatal blunder, one that will bring the authorities right to their hideout.

Gonzalo bursts into the Conde home all the while reaming out Adolfo on the phone just as Marisol is on her way down the stairs and out the door.

This is an interesting moment: the crossing of two apparently unrelated malignant beings both too focused on their own dark plans to notice anyone else.

So what has Marisol been up to? (And hats off to Hombre – she sure seems to be Ricardo Merino’s sister!) She has handed the poisoned candy to Pilar:
Pilar’s social smile fades and her eyes narrow when Marisol’s generic compliment about her beautiful house segues into an off-balance rant about how some people cause others to lose everything and yet go unpunished. The open box of chocolates sits on the coffee table, untouched.

Marisol returns to the Conde house and engineers things so she is discovered in Emilio’s arms. Maybe she was hoping for Hilda, but it is Eva who walks in on them. Eva sends Marisol away by giving her the rest of the day off (I suspect there will be a little something extra in her next paycheck) and then gives vent to her great joy! Finally – we can get rid of Hilda!

Later we see Marisol dusting the piano in a house where all the furniture is covered with drapecloths. Her brother’s house. The neighbor lady stops by and is happy to hear that Marisol is planning to live there. Her brother, says the neighbor, is watching desde arriba (from above) and is surely happy too. Marisol answers:
¿Desde arriba? Ricardo no está muerto. Ricardo está tan vivo como tú o yo.
Oh ho!

Let’s follow the poisoned chocolate:
Javier comes home in a foul mood just having learned that Renato’s death was faked. Like Gonzalo, he assumes the trick was aimed at him personally. He roars at Pilar when she tries to suggest otherwise. He sits in front of the candy but ignores it and follows Pilar upstairs.
Diego also ignores the candy – he doesn’t like chocolate.
Once again, Hombre nailed it: it is Karen who can’t resist stuffing a couple of pieces in her mouth before going off to do the marketing. She comes home feeling weak -- but not too weak to stuff another piece in her mouth. The next thing we know, she is in the kitchen with a very bad bellyache. Andrea is hungry and completely unsympathetic. Have some chocolate! I shout at my television.

Karen is in her bedroom, pale and sweaty and doubled up with cramps.

Hilda and Yolanda get to play detective:
Hilda is emptying the garbage under the sink when she notices the baggie that Marisol left there earlier. A dark vial and a syringe. Is Marisol sick? Is she exposing them all to some illness? Yolanda will find out.

Yolanda takes the vial to a pharmacist friend. It’s not a medicine, he tells her. He’ll send it out to a lab. By tomorrow, they will know what it is.

How upset is Emilio by his marital woes?
Not very. He is sulking on his bed but immediately perks up at the news that Iñaki called Ignacia. They can track down the call from the cellphone itself and therefore the caller.

The same thought occurs to Gonzalo who by now he is nearly foaming at the mouth. Over Carola and Ignacia’s objections, he snatches the phone. But Emilio tells the girls not to worry – he can get all the info on incoming calls online.

The police have arrived at the Conde house. Thank goodness Gonzalo is there to take charge of things!

The last goodbye (of the evening):
Displaying his best Lt. Columbo technique, Gonzalo uses a handkerchief to retrieve his gun (now bearing only Carola’s fingerprints). He makes his way to the hideout. He and Adolfo argue. Gonzalo reproaches his brother for all his mistakes while Adolfo whines that he gets no respect, that Gonzalo thinks he’s so superior... Well he’s not!

While Adolfo is whining, Gonzalo is stealthily pulling out and donning a black glove.

We all have a limit! screams Adolfo.
And Gonzalo replies: You’re right. We all have a limit. And I’ve reached mine.

Gonzalo aims and coolly squeezes the trigger. Adolfo takes a hit in the belly. He falls to the floor.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Who, as of Friday, September 2, is the most loathsome character on this show?

1. Iñaki, alpha psycho. We saw him kill one of the few sympathetic characters, Matías. Last night we saw him shoot down his little brother, Ismael... well ok. maybe that one was a public service. But he also killed the only ‘good’ Mora brother, Ivan. He probably ordered Renato Conde’s execution, although we don’t know for sure what has happened to Renato. Everything Iñaki says is a lie. Everything.

2. Ismael, beta psycho. See above. Operates like a slick sociopath when he’s on his own but dissolves into a petulant pre-adolescent when his big brother is around. May already be dead.

3. Javier, bully, narcissist and thief. Murders the dreams and spirits and breaks the backbone of those around him. May not literally be a murderer though.

4. Marisol, the new kid on the psycho block. Marisol’s intended victim is Pilar but she seems unconcerned about collateral damage. Too bad Javier isn’t a chocoholic. Karen is the first victim of – if not death, then very very bad bellyache by chocolate.

5. Eva Spencer, domineering, unfaithful, cold. Uber snob. Last night she was glad to find Emilio and Marisol in a clinch. Time for a little “I told you so.” She has never trusted Gonzalo. Is this because it takes one to know one?

6. The despicable Conde Kids. Their indiscriminate lechery makes them easy prey for loathsome characters 1, 2, 3 and 4.
-- Carola is a druggie and a drunk and gets a special kick out of seducing her sister’s men.
-- Emilio is a lazy, whoring voyeur who is too dumb to know you don’t walk away from your gambling debts unscathed.
-- And Ignacia is a drama queen, the diva in the opera playing in her head.

7. Pilar. So hard to watch the bug-eyed, grimacing victim returning over and over to Javier’s smirking abuse. Psychologist, psychotherapeutize thyself! Did she really do something bad to Ricardo Merino?

8. The servidumbre. Nibaldo lurks. Karen is openly dishonest. The two were cheating on Yolanda. Is Yolanda as innocent as she seems? Is it a sin to be a yenta?

9. Hilda’s innocence has been replaced by resentment which, while justifiable, is less than appealing. Rosa Munita Yen didn’t have to work up much of a sweat to get Hilda on her side. Save your soul, your skin and your baby and get out of that house!

10. Mabel Mora. After Igor had his devastating stroke in prison, she abandoned her little boys. Only Gonzalo was old enough at the time to remember her.
---------------------------------------

Here’s my (much shorter) list of the, if not exactly innocent, then most sympathetic characters of the moment:

1. Renato Conde. I still don’t really understand why he staged his own death. He was testing his not-so-trusted advisors. Maybe he wanted to escape from – and punish – the faithless Eva. He seems to have loved his children. I resist the idea that his kids became monsters because of his over-indulgent parenting. I’m not sure if I feel sympathy for the character or just for the actor who plays him.

2. Rebeca. Locked in a vicious and life-long competition with her half-sister Pilar, she shows up disposed to steal the affections of Pilar’s husband and kids; she sticks around long enough to displace Javier as Renato’s trusted advisor. But then she morphs into a sensitive and intelligent soul who cares about her sister and her niece and nephew; cares about Renato Conde and his interests; and loves and subsequently grieves for Matías.

3. Igor Mora. Helpless observer of the evil being done by his sons. Tries to warn the Conde kids about the Mora boys. Tries to help Renato escape.

Your turn, folks.

Cuando Me Enamoro #98 Friday 9/2/11 Meet the Parents

Sorry for the delay, queridos. I watched the show live and wrote notes like a mad woman since I have no DVR anymore. No more training wheels allowed! It's a recapping master class. Let's get on with it...

Roberta strolls through the pueblo and wastes no time in getting under Jero's skin when he crosses her path. Berta's bubble bursts when Doctora Marina appears and plants a kiss on Jero. Of course, Berta and Tatas recognize each other. Berta is unsettled that Doctora and Jero are an item.

The feds close in on Blanca! Unless she takes a swim in the fountain, she is trapped. The police cuff her and those silver bracelets definitely become Blanca. She tries to bribe the cops but nothing doing. "Maritza del Rio" is under arrest. (Victory!)

Chema pays Adriana a visit. They share a significant glance but are interrupted by a call from Matias. The cops caught Blanca! That means Honorio will be out of jail soon! Chema scoops Adri up into a celebratory hug and they unexpectedly kiss. Say what you will about Chema but he is one good kisser.

Gonzo, Regi, Constanza, and Ines have gotten the good news about Blanca. They all hope Blanca gets what's coming to her. Regina hopes the same will happen to Pepa. Gonzo vows to protect Regina from that vile woman. Coni drops a causal hint that Pepa might be closer to home than they think. After all, no one ever expected Blanca to have been such a crook. Coni wonders to herself how she can prove that Pepa is Fina and how to tell Regina about it. (Just out with it! Between what she knows and what Regina knows, the two of them could probably figure it all out in an hour).

Jero sits down with Marina in her office. Marina understands that Jero is still hung up on Nata. Marina is an adult and he will only be using her if she lets him. Which she isn't going to. It's a risk but it's one that she is ready to take. Marina wants to see what happens if she opens up to love. Jero recalls the harsh words he had for Nata when he found her at Augie's ranch. He gives in and kisses Marina.

Chema is upset at having kissed Adriana. He sputters about his relationship with Coni and the fact that Adri is her step-daughter. Adri wonders if Chema really loves Coni or just admires her. He has to have noticed that Coni still loves Honorio, right? Chema's head is swimming. The maid returns from the store and Chema decides it's time to leave. Adriana ponders the kiss with a wistful look.

Agustin and Nata have a chat in his office. Nata married Jero because she was in love but she still wants the permission from the church before she gets hitched to Augie. He understands. He wants to share everything he has and everything he is with Nata. She is going to be his wife and the mother of his children. Nata thinks about Jero having never mentioned children. She wonders how she could have been so blind.

Marina and Jero canoodle some more. She is happy that there are no secrets between them. Smooches.

Berta talks to herself in public while waiting for Jero to get out of the Doc's office. She wants to grill him about it.

Carlos has coffee with his parents. He is eager to show them the vineyard and the fields. His madre makes a snotty comment about Matilde but Carlos does not notice. Poor guy is so excited he can't see the storm brewing.

Manuela and Karina set up the dinning room. Matilde can't wait to become a Señora! She is so, so happy and all they hacienda ladies are happy for her. The anvil just got a little heavier.

Jero and Marina are still necking in her office. Berta flashes a smug smile as she eavesdrops in the hallway. She pounces on Marina after Jero leaves and asks to have a chat.

Nata finds Berta's cell phone and is surprised to see that Fina is calling. She doesn't answer it. Fina never, ever called Nata after she was whisked away from the D.F. Nata won't let Fina make her miserable anymore. (Good girl.)

Berta doesn't beat around the bush; she gets straight to the threats. Marina had better not tell Jero about Berta's miscarriage. Marina does not respond well to threats. Her job is separate from her personal life. Berta warns Marina that Jero is a wretch. Berta's baby was his and he left her. Marina doesn't care. She knows what she is doing. Jero is with her now. The past doesn't matter.

Jero stands on the cliffs and moons over Nata. The ocean crashing against the rocks makes for some gorgeous scenery.

Jero, Matilde, and Carlos welcome Carlos's parents to La Bonita. Mati is nervous but Jero tells her to relax because she is queen for the night.

Nata and Augie confront Berta about her disappearing act that afternoon. Berta could care less about the rules. She spills the beans about seeing Jero and Marina tonguing in town. Nata is discomfited.

Marina arrives for dinner at the hacienda. Jero introduces her to Carlos and their guests. Carlos's Padre formally asks Jero for Matilde's hand. Jero laughs but the honor belongs to Lazaro, not to him.

Carlos's madre (I think is her name is Elvira. I'm tempted to just call her Snotty McRichBitch but maybe that's just me) is grossed out that Matilde is Lazaro's sister and not Jero's. Not only does Madre refuse to shake Lazaro's hand, she says there is no way her son will marry a servant. Because they're yucky and have cooties and stuff.

Berta tries to press the Jero issue at dinner but Nata won't take the bait. They are divorced and free to do whatever (or whoever) they want. Berta snaps that she knows Nata still cares about Jero no matter what she says. Augie agrees with Berta.

Matilde leaves the living room in tears. Carlos jumps to his feet. He will not let anyone offend Mati, let alone his own parents! Lazaro calmly says that Matilde is a sweet and humble girl. She is as good as or better than any city girl. Carlos's padre blames their reaction on the shock of it. Laz understands but tells them that money does not determine a person's worth. Matilde has a big heart and they didn't give her a chance to show them. (Lazaro is still my hero. Where can I get one like him, hmm?)

Carlos fumes at his mother but she claims to be the victim. If Carlos had warned them that Mati was poor, none of this would have happened. Oh, go play in traffic with your soulmate Scrooge McDuck.

Lazaro comforts Matilde as she sobs. She is too poor for his parents! Carlos joins them and tells Mati not to worry. Carlos will send his family away so he can formally ask for her hand on his own. Mati and Laz both agree that they fiesta mood has been ruined for the day. Carlos loves her no matter what. He tries to kiss her cheek but she moves away.

Jero and Marina regroup in his study. What a lousy way to start the night. Marina suggests they leave for dinner elsewhere now that the party is a bust.

At the end of Mass, Alfonsina approaches Karina. Alfi did not show up at Doc's funeral because she was afraid of offending Kari. Alfi begs Kari to forgive her for fooling around with Doc. Kari says she forgives Afli but the trust between them has been broken for good. There is no way they can be amigas again. Alfi promises she will earn Kari's trust and forgiveness.

Carlos tells his parents to get lost if they don't approve of Matilde. His madre spouts on about there being too much difference in class between Carlos and Matilde for it to work out. Carlos says the only thing getting in the way of his happiness is the two of them. He will marry Mati whether they like it or not.

Manuela and Laz have calmed Mati down. Laz knows Carlos was trying to do the best by Mati. Matilde cries that she is still cursed; that's why everything turned out so horribly. Laz hugs Mati and tells her to stop saying such things. Carlos and Mati love each other and that is what counts.

Padre Severino sees Jero give Marina a goodbye kiss. He's hopping mad because Jero is still married in the eyes of the church. Marina knows Padre doesn't approve but she asks him to respect her regardless. She has been waiting for years to find real love and now that she has it, she isn't going to mess it up. Padre wrings his hands.

Nata lies awake at night and tries to convince herself that she does not love Jero anymore. She pulls on her boots and heads outside.

Carlos knocks on Matilde's door. Unfortunately, I didn't catch what was said. I think Carlos asked Mati to come out and she refused.

Nata is in the middle of a late-night horseback ride when Jero drives up in his car. "Qué haces aquí?" she asks Jero.

Avances: These just get more and more vague don't they? The announcer blah blahs about it being a "crucial Fall". I caught a few little clips of Blanca in jail and Augie with Nata. Jero says he has something he needs to get off his chest.

Teresa Fri 9/2/11 #130 Mayra Channels Dr. Phil and Mariano Channels Rhett Butler

Aida plans to buy Martin’s share of Luna Turqueza. Together with Geno’s shares, they can ensure that Teresa and Arturo lose everything! They all agree Teresa deserves no less and she will not be able to recover from this loss. In order to keep the Barreras from making a profit, the condo tower would have to stop and with the delay in the sales, that’s sure to happen. Everyone does a Happy Dance!

PENTHOUSE: Teresa tries to convince Arturo to take Fernando’s offer. He’s sure to give them a fair price on Luna Turqueza. Arturo still feels it’s best to wait. Fernando then offers to loan him money for a new firm. Arturo thinks he means a firm for both he and Teresa. Fernando clarifies that Teresa should no longer be his partner. Teresa’s happily following the conversation until this last part. Her eyes bug out!

CASA GENOVENOM: Aida gets off the phone with Martin – he’s agreed to sell her his shares because he doesn’t want to return to Mexico for a long time. Geno assumes correctly it’s because of Aurora. Aida lets the thought of Aurora go by without another word and then brings out a gift for little “Paulito”. She’s excited to finally meet the little guy! Ruh-roh!

PENTHOUSE: Fer explains he doesn’t think it’s prudent considering how things are. Teresa assumes it’s because of Odiosana. Arturo doesn’t care what anyone thinks. If he and his wife want to work together, that’s how it will be. Well, Fernando says, it was just a suggestion. Teresa thinks it might be best for their relationship if they don’t work together. Fernando proposes that Arturo set up his practice to manage all the businesses he’s inherited and Teresa, she can be his power of attorney (apoderada) for one of his businesses. She appreciates everything he’s offering to do for them but asks that he let them discuss the matter. Arturo agrees and Fernando gives him the wolf look! Arturo looks like he smells something rotten in el D.F.!

CHEZ GENOVENOM: Geno is ever so grateful for Aida’s gift but the baby is out with his nurse right now. Ruben plays along saying darn it, he also wanted to see the baby but they’ll have to wait for another time. Geno offers to show them the nursery and promises to take him to visit Casa Caceres so Mayra can meet him too! Ugh, what a snake! Ruben pretends to be bitter that she’s lucky to have her baby while he does not have his. Aida assures him he’ll win his fight.

PENTHOUSE: Arturo thanks Fernando again for all his help. Teresa sends her regards to Luisa and remembers this is their monthly anniversary. Fernando leaves and Teresa runs to Arturo. He wonders why she’s so happy. She thinks it’s great that Fernando is offering him a chance to set up a firm to take care of his legal business both here and in Spain. Not so fast, Sharky girl. Arturo’s not too sure. He needs to think about it.

VECINDAD: Juana tells Jughead she needs time to think it out. He doesn’t seem to think it’s so difficult -- she only has to decide yes or no. She tells him she’s going to take Teresa’s advice and think it through carefully. He objects and she says he acts as though Ter is such a bad influence on her. He knows Teresa is set on Juana marrying Hector. He wants to know what it is that Juana wants. He kneels before her and tells her that if she loves him, they should be happy together and be done with it. She repeats it’s not easy and besides she hasn’t ended it with Hector, blah, blah, blah. Blahberto’s had enough. He feels she’s treating him unfairly. He loves her and knows she loves him. He’s decided to go back to Zacatecas. He hands her a paper with the address and tells her if she changes her mind that’s where she can find him, but only to marry him. He warns her not to wait too long or he might be married himself by the time she goes looking for him.

PENTHOUSE: Teresa doesn’t understand Arturo’s reluctance. It’s almost as though he prefers to stay in his current situation. He tells her it looks as though she’s keen on returning to their previous lifestyle. (Well, duh! He wins the prize for the understatement of the evening!) She rolls her eyes behind him and then asks what’s so wrong with wanting what they had before? It’s not a sin to want to improve. Everything’s so good with them now. She loves him and she knows he needs her so why not speed things up? Does he intend to continue to test her? No, he knows she loves him above all else: Mariano, money – absolutely everything.

CASA FERNANDO/PENTHOUSE: Mamá O is waiting when Fernando gets home and tells him they need to talk. He assumes it’s about the inheritance but she tells him it’s about Teresa! Dun, dun, DUN! Just then, Teresa’s sneaking around the penthouse dialing up Fernando who doesn’t answer because Oriana looks worried. Teresa starts to leave him a voicemail but Arturo comes back into the room ready to go to work.

HOSPITAL: Hector admits to Juana he’s agitated about the Mariano situation but he doesn’t feel that should affect their relationship. He loves her and they shouldn’t continue to postpone their wedding. I-Don’t-Wanna-Juana deflects this by saying they should talk about Aurora and Mariano, repeating for the umpteenth time that she thinks of Aurora as her daughter. Hector thinks Maurora is a separate issue. He doesn’t understand why Aurora didn’t mention anything while he was visiting her. Juana figures Aurora was afraid of his reaction. Hector makes it very clear he doesn’t accept the thought of Aurora having a relationship with Mariano. Pati interrupts them and says she’s here to visit her sobrinito. Juana takes this as an opportunity to escape but Hector tells her he’ll come by tonight to discuss the wedding.

CASA FERNANDO: Oriana demands to know why Fernando offered the penthouse to the Barreras. Was it for Arturo? Or Teresa! Oriana feels Fernando should have just let Arturo test Teresa. They shouldn’t have moved out so quickly. Fernando, of course, disagrees and can’t believe she’d say that. He tells her Arturo mistreated Teresa who loves him so much she put up with his drunkenness and abuse. Oriana sees he’s now defending her! Fernando feels Teresa was in the right but Oriana counters this by saying Teresa is a manipulator! Oriana now tells him that Teresa said she can manipulate any man, including him! Fernando can’t believe Teresa would say that. Oriana says it’s fortunate that he fell in love with a woman like Luisa and will be married in two weeks.

Luisa and Lucia are talking wedding stuff. Lucia doesn’t know where she can get a dress on such short notice and Luisa offers up Juana who can surely whip up something in time. Luisa misses her mother at this time when she surely needs her advice on marriage. Lucia’s never been married but she has lived with someone. She advises Luisa to talk to Fernando to make sure he’s ready to take this step. Luisa assures her they’ve talked about it (ad nauseam) and he has no doubts. Lucia suggest they talk about what they expect from the marriage, like children for example. So many things can change.

HOSPITAL: Mariano sends Aurora what appears to be one of many e-mails. He tells her he’s ready to leave for Zacatecas. He may be far away physically, but his heart will remain with her. Hector walks in and looks like he’s loaded for bear! He understands Mariano went looking for his daughter in Cuernavaca. Mariano knows this upsets him but he assures him his feelings are sincere. He loves Aurora. Hector explodes: “LIES! You’re still in love with Teresa and will never stop loving her despite the fact that she dumped you to marry another!” Hector doesn’t believe him when he says he loves Aurora. He warns him to stay away from her, he will not allow him near her! Mariano can’t promise he’ll do that when what he desires most is to be with her. He’s been after her all this time and will continue to do so until she returns his love.

CASA FERNANDO: A huge bouquet of roses has arrived for Luisa. She tells Lucia Fer always remembers their monthly anniversary. He loves her, of that much she’s sure. (Ah, but did he order the flowers before or after Teresa mentioned the anniversary earlier?)

Arturo and Teresa have arrived. Lucia and Arturo head to the den to discuss business. Luisa tells Teresa that Lucia is going to be in the wedding. Teresa’s not pleased but says what’s important is that Luisa likes her. She admits she didn’t like that Lucia seemed so chummy with Arturo until she realized they’ve known each other since childhood. Luisa assures her she’ll like her and encourages her to get to know her and she’ll soon realize Lucia is super buena onda (really cool).

In the den, Oriana asks Fernando and Lucia to step out so she can speak privately with Arturo. Uh-oh. She hopes Arturo doesn’t misinterpret this, but she was disappointed to hear they moved out of the vecindad. It would have been the perfect opportunity to see if Teresa truly loves him. He admits he had the same thought. Oriana says she knows how jealous he is and knowing what happened between Teresa and Mariano, anything Teresa does will hurt him and he’ll be suspicious. She asks if he’ll be able to live tormented by the green-eyed monster. He tells her that’s precisely why he left the vecindad. He treated Teresa unfairly. Oriana repeats it’s a shame he didn’t stay longer because he’ll always have that doubt of whether or not Teresa would have hung in there. He admits he was very uncomfortable there. She reminds him she only tells him all this because she loves him. If she insists, it’s because she’s sure that given the opportunity, Teresa will set her eyes on someone else. Arturo appreciates that Oriana set him straight but he’s decided to remain by Teresa’s side for a reason. As he’s said before, they’ve decided they will not allow anyone to interfere again in their marriage. Well, you can’t say he wasn’t warned.

In the meantime, Lucia, Teresa, Luisa, and Fernando are having a nice visit. Lucia is happy to see how well he treats Luisa. Teresa is looking a bit uncomfortable with the conversation and leaves to supposedly make a call.

CASA CACERES: Aida is in her rrrrrrrrata de vecindad zone again, swearing to her mother she must seek revenge!!! Mayra strongly rejects this idea saying vengeance is never good for anyone. Furthermore, she will not authorize the use of her money to buy Luna Turqueza shares if it’s only to harass Teresa. (go Mayra!). Aida wonders that Mayra isn’t aware their family has been ruined because of that maldita rrrrrrata! All her problems can be traced back to Teresa. Her problems with Paulo, Mariano, and even that gata Esperanza is Teresa’s friend. She even convinced Amadeo to turn against her father. Mayra isn’t so sure she should believe everything Ruben says. This is surely his version of the story and this doesn’t change the fact that he cheated on her. (woohoo again for Mayra! )

CASA FERNANDO: Fernando and Teresa get a moment alone and he asks if she’s ok. She’s fine but it did bother her to see the roses he sent Luisa, the talk of the wedding. She feels so guilty. He admits he feels badly too. She hopes Arturo accepts her proposal to move away from here especially after that altercation she had with Oriana. Fernando admits she mentioned it. Oriana walks in and Teresa suggests that Oriana can tell him what they talked about yesterday. Oriana says she told Fernando that Teresa is sure she can capture him. Teresa says that’s right, that’s what she said.

CASA CACERES: Aiiiiiiiiida continues to plead her case, saying Teresa has sworn her vengeance against her for years after Aida started dating Paulo when he left Teresa. Mayra remembers that things didn’t quite happen that way and advises Aida to leave it in the past. She repeats that vengeance is not a good thing. She urges Aida to forgive and forget and start a new life. That’s the only way she’ll be happy. (wow, looks like Mayra got a good dose of Dr. Phil while she was gone) Aiiiiiiida refuses. Mayra’s very sorry but she will not help her and won’t give her money to buy Luna Turqueza shares. Aida says she won’t rest until she gets her revenge. She wants the world to see Teresa for what she is, a hypocite and a liar. Wow, what a Bitter Betty our Aida has turned into.

CASA FERNANDO: Teresa admits she told Oriana that she could manipulate him but that was after she’d had enough of Oriana’s insults. She repeats Oriana accused her of eventually leaving Arturo for another man with money. Fernando can’t believe it and Oriana tells him she was only stating her opinion. Teresa continues, saying she knows many men have been after her and desire her. In addition to being rich, Fernando is handsome, intelligent, charming but it’s obvious nothing can happen because she’s a married woman! She loves her husband and he’s engaged to her BFF.

CUERNAVACA: Dario and Magda have come to visit Aurora and they tell her they are now dating and they’re on their way to visit her parents so they can meet him. They also ask her a huge favor – to travel to Zacatecas to help Mariano on his project. Pretty please, they can’t go because they’re visiting her parents and can’t let him go alone. He’s kept her informed of the project through all his e-mails but she wants to decline and suggests Aida. Nothing doing, Aida’s not a doctor. They plead with her to please do this for them.

VECINDAD: Juana is explaining to Hector that Mariano finally opened his eyes and realized he loves Aurora. She tells him not to say anything to Aurora and let her try with Mariano if that’s what she wants. Hector’s not sure. He changes the subject to the wedding. He has some ideas about the menu, the music, etc. He wants to know when she wants to get married. I-don’t-wanna-Juana starts to fidget. Ugh.

HOSPITAL: Mayra is there looking for Esperanza who doesn’t see her at first because she’s so worried.

VECINDAD: Poor Hector is chatting along about wedding plans. Juana finally admits she’s not sure she wants to get married. He quickly assumes she’d rather live together. He’s very conservative but he loves her so much he’ll do whatever she wants. He just wants them to be together, travel, and be a true couple. Juana keeps trying to tell him she has doubts. Hector understands if she needs more time but she should consider that he doesn’t want to wait any longer.

HOSPITAL: Mayra assures Esperanza she’s not here to argue. She’s decided to forgive Ruben and begin a new life, just like Esperanza has. Esperanza says it hasn’t been easy and she realizes she’s been very lucky. Mayra tells her she’s written about what happened and in the process came to the realization that she can’t move forward with her life because she hadn’t forgiven Esperanza. Esperanza is impactada! Mayra is very serious about it. She knows the baby she had with Ruben is ill and if anything were to happen to him, she’d just die. As a mother, she understands Espe and sincerely hopes her son will recover. Esperanza admits that what she did was wrong by starting an affair with a married man. She’s very sorry for having been the cause of Mayra’s suffering.

Meanwhile, Dorkberto is telling Mariano that although he loves his Juanita, he’s fed up. Mariano tells him it’s good that he’s realizing this. He shouldn’t waste so much time like he did with Teresa. Twithead repeats that if she goes to him in Zacatecas it will be to marry him. Either he marries Juanita or he stays in Zacatecas. He asks Mariano to deliver his goodbye letter. Mariano suggests he deliver it himself face to face. He wishes he could do that with Aurora instead of sending all those e-mails.

Esperanza sincerely apologizes to Marya who says she forgave her long ago. At one time she thought she hated her. She’s learned everything happens for a reason. She’s also learned she can stand on her own. She doesn’t need to have a man by her side and Ruben was one bad cookie. She thinks of the irony in all this that neither of them is with Ruben.

CASA CACERES: La Odiosa Oriana is visiting with Bitter Betty (aka Aiiiiida) who can’t believe that rrrrrrrata had the nerve to say she was going after her son. Oriana’s only too happy that the wedding is only two weeks away and everything seems to be going along very well. Aida reminds Oriana of everything she said about Teresa and how she swore revenge simply because she had stood up in front of their classmates and told everyone of Teresa’s true origins. Aida pouts that Mayra won’t give her the money to buy the Luna Turqueza shares. Not to worry, says Oriana. If it will help Arturo realize what a shameless hussy he has by his side, she’ll help Aida with her plans. Oriana will buy Martin’s shares so Arturo will be left with nothing and Teresa will leave him. Arturo can then find a good woman who deserves him and Teresa will be far away from Luisa……and her son!

CASA FERNANDO: Fer doesn’t understand why Arturo rejects his help. Doesn’t he trust him? Completely, says Arturo. If he weren’t married to Teresa he would have already accepted his help. Arturo is back to having doubts about Teresa marrying him for his money and if he accepts Fernando’s help, he’ll be in a good financial situation. “¡Es el colmo!” shouts Fernando. “My mother talked to you and that’s why you’re like this. That’s it. If you’re not going to honor the woman at your side then divorce her and set Teresa free!”

CASA CACERES: Aida warns Oriana that the money she invests in Luna Truqueza could be lost. Oriana responds that the millions she puts at risk won’t matter if it rescues Arturo and keeps her son from risk. Because even though Luisa and Fernando are getting married, Teresa isn’t the type to respect the sanctity of marriage. No argument from Aida who says that rrrrrrrata didn’t even respect her own marriage. Oriana clarifies she doesn’t want the shares to be in her name. She doesn’t want Arturo to find out she was in cahoots with Genovenom and Bitter Betty.

CASA FERNANDO: Arturo wants to know how Fernando can think he’d leave Teresa. Fernando points out how he’s still doubting her, testing her. Teresa loves him, she will not cheat on him. Arturo wonders how Fernando can be so certain. He already spoke with Oriana and asked her not to interfere but she was right. He’s doubtful because Teresa is so anxious for him to recover his financial status. Fernando sees nothing wrong in this. Arturo should start again with Teresa, maybe even move away. If he won’t sell him the Luna Turqueza shares, then perhaps they can go to Cancun and handle it from there. Arturo doesn’t want to run away. He wants to confront the situation and he’s determined to find out if Teresa truly loves him. There are times he feels she does and he would do anything to avoid losing her. But then there are times that he’s tormented by doubt and this confuses him. He can’t forget the past. Although his head tells him he should retaliate and get away from her, his heart tells him to continue to fight to keep her by his side. In the midst of this conflict he feels he’ll go mad. Fernando pleads with him to listen and dedicate himself to being happy with Teresa or he’ll lose her.

LUXURY APARTMENTS: Teresa runs into to Mariano at the elevators and tells him she now lives here and soon she’ll return to her life of luxury. He certainly hopes so because that seems to be the only thing that will make her happy. Oh, he knows that’s not true, she says. They shared such beautiful times together and he didn’t have any money. Mariano sarcastically says she stopped sharing those moments with him and went after someone with money. He tells her not to worry. He’s sure Arturo will be happy to hear that he’s not one to visit with neighbors. She finds it incredible that they’re once again living in the same building. He says the difference is that he’s improved his lifestyle to arrive here while she’s come down a peg since she got married. If she had waited for him they’d be here…together. She doesn’t like to think about yesterday. She prefers to think of the future. He thinks always thinking of the future keeps her from living in the present. He accuses her of always calculating her next move and how she can have more without enjoying what she has. That’s not true, she says. She enjoyed their time together. She knows he misses their time together because he enjoys living in the past -- the past he had with her. It used to be painful for him to think of his past with her. But now he only asks himself how he could have been so stupid, so blind. That’s not blindness (ceguera), she says, that’s love. And even though he continues to deny it, he still loves her. “No Teresa,” he says “and if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll take the stairs.” Before he can get away, she calls after him, “accept it, you still love me. I know it.” She’s sure of it.

VECINDAD: Twerpberto visits Johnny/Pati and tells them how Gramps told him about Juana’s infertility and this is how he came to understand her. It’s now up to her to choose between him and Hector. YAWN!

PENTHOUSE: Arturo arrives just after Teresa. She greets him warmly and tells him he’s her present and she loves him. Guess Mariano’s little speech struck a nerve. He wonders if she’s going to try to talk him into accepting Fernando’s offer because this is how she always acts when she wants something. This upsets her and she walks off in a snit.

CASA BARRERA: Fernando explains to Luisa that the best thing that could happen to the Barreras is for them to move far away and this way they can all be happy. This will help them strengthen their marriage but if they stay here……Luisa interrupts him and says she’ll talk to Arturo. He adores Teresa and he has to come around. She knows Teresa loves him and will be patient. Besides, she thinks Teresa might be a little jealous of Lucia. She’s convinced they just need to talk things through. She doesn’t want the same thing to happen to them. If there’s ever anything that could jeopardize their own relationship, she wants him to promise her he’ll tell her. (be careful what you wish for)

PENTHOUSE: Arturo thought-bubbles Fernando’s words about divorcing Teresa if he won’t trust her. Teresa comes to him but changes her mind and goes to bed. He then goes to her but changes his mind and goes back to brooding on the couch. In the morning, he wakes her and she realizes he didn’t sleep with her. He wonders if she would have liked that and she wonders if he would have believed her if she asked him to. They embrace and she asks what it will take for him to believe she loves him. They begin to smooch.

CASA FERNANDO: Dumberto is taking his leave of Doña Oriana saying he’s figured out she only used him to get the goods on Teresa. Since he’s already told her everything, he’s resigning. She tells him not to feel bad about Teresa, he was only telling the truth. She tells him not to hesitate to call her if he is ever in need of employment.

VECINDAD: Mariano drops in on Juana and hands her the card from Jughead and tells her he knows the whole story. He knows Buttberto really loves her and Hector does too. He hopes she’ll choose the one that makes her happy. He asks about Aurora and she tells him she’s fine but Hector doesn’t want him near her. Mariano knows this but won’t let that stop him. She wishes him luck and he leaves.

Luisa stops by with Lucia to talk about her dress for the wedding.

CASA FERNANDO: The Barreras arrive and Teresa quickly looks for Fernando who tells her she was right in her suspicion that Arturo had Jacinto spying on her. She can’t believe he continues to doubt her when all she wants is to get away from Fernando to avoid being unfaithful. He tells her Arturo will definitely not accept his help. He then blabs that Arturo is determined to continue to put her to the test. Now that’s a loyal friend for you. Friggin’ Fickle Fernando!

Teresa Thu 9/1/11 #129 Lots of slaps on the face, Fernando gets played some more

Teresa #129, Sept 1 2011, Lots of slaps on the face, Fernando gets played some more

Complete recap is finally all finished!

Teresa is playing Fernando, saying how she thinks about how it would feel to be in his arms, but backs off and says that she thinks Professor Hottie suspects. Fernando is following her around and leaning in, drooling all over her like an idiot.

Professor Hottie walks in on their conversation and doesn't look like he suspects anything at all, but Fernando looks guilty. Fer talks business and Professor Hottie says he looks nervous. Fernando makes some excuse. Prof. Hottie thanks Fer for the use of the apartment. Fer asks him about how it's going with Mariano. Prof Hottie says much better and that it's so nice to not have the shadow of another man hanging over them. Fernando looks muy uncomfortable about that.

Aeeeeeda is bothering poor Mariano at work in the hospital. She tries to kiss him but he won't let her. She's just not getting it. He doesn't want to give her false hopes. She still wants to work around him and he sighs wearily.

Teresa visits Juana at home. Basically Teresa is all hot for Juana to marry Hector the Director, but Juana breaks the news that she loves Cutberto.

A pretty young woman is waiting at Professor Hottie's old house (where he still works). He uncertainly asks her what she's doing there. She coquettishly asks him if he doesn't remember the last night they spent together. He looks impactado.

Juana explains that she has been meaning to break up with Hector, but something always gets in the way. After some discussion, Teresa reminds Juana that her lovely relationship with Aurora will not be the same if Juana dumps Aurora's dad, Hector. Juana looks very sad at the thought of this.

Turns out coquettish girl is an old friend of Luisa and they haven't seen each other since they were like 9 and I guess the girl (Lucia) stayed at the family home. Hence "spending the night together." Professor Hottie looks relieved.

Mariano and Aeeeeeda talk for a little bit about Aeeeeeda's hermano, the ill baby of Esperanza. Apparently Aeeeeda is concerned about the kid.

There is this scene where Lucia (Luisa's friend) is helping Professor Hottie in the translation of a legal document. That's why she's there, to translate German. Professor Hottie and Lucia are poring over a document, their heads close together, as Teresa comes in and looks jealous and puts on an icy act. When she finds out the real story (German translator, friend of Luisa) she lightens up a bit but makes it clear that Lucia will be working with BOTH of them.

Rubigote and Geno are canoodling over their plot to steal Esperanza's kid. Complaining that Fito always wants more money. Kiss kiss. Then Mayra walks in and catches them! OH MY GOODNESS! I really didn't see that one coming!

Mayra rushes over to Geno and gives her two hard slaps and chews her out. Es el colmo (it's the limit) that she pretend to be her best friend while doing this! Then light dawns and she says, Now it's so clear why you were always visiting him in jail and asking me to pardon him! Mayra then goes on to say that it is Geno's betrayal that bothers her the most. Of course Geno and Rubigote try to make feeble excuses. Mayra says she went to Europe and got some nice goodies for Geno there, to thank her for all her help and support. And now she finds out this. As she is walking out she says, watch your money, don't trust this particular gentleman (meaning Rubigote). Geno is worried that Aeeeda will find out. Mayra says of course she'll tell her; she deserves to know the truth.

After Mayra is gone, Geno is worried and (I think) is telling Rubigote that if everyone knows that they (Geno and Rubigote) are a couple, then they'll suspect when the baby is kidnapped and Geno suddenly turns up with a baby.

A quick scene with Hernan the Galán, Refusio, and Esperanza. The baby is in a delicate way. Refusio has been praying for him. Esperanza is beside herself with worry and grief.

Professor Hottie is kinda thrilled that Teresa was obviously jealous of the German translator chick. Teresa denies it of course, but Professor Hottie has a smug look on his face. Teresa kisses him and says that she knows he only loves her.

Rubigote is doing damage control and is telling Aeeeeda that Mayra misconstrued a hug given to Geno (because she's so broken up about the death of Paulo) as something more. Aeeeda listens and looks thoughtful, like maybe she's not buying it.

Fernando is talking business with Professor Hottie and Teresa. I didn't get all of this. (The caffeine hasn't kicked in enough yet.) Something about an uncle taking over for his father, liquidizing a business? Sorry that I missed something here. Professor Hottie prepares to leave and gives Teresa a long sloppy kiss (which you know, is sort of tacky to do in front of anyone, even an old friend). Fernando looks away with his jaw all tight like he is totally jealous. (Idiot!)

Luisa is talking with Lucia and Lucia says she senses something is off with Teresa (or something?). Luisa explains about all the money troubles. Lucia makes some speculation about the pain that couples go through when they are separating. Luisa looks shocked at this. I think this is supposed to mean that Lucia senses that things are not normal between Teresa and Professor Hottie. (And that's an understatement!)

Professor Hottie has left the building. Fernando wastes no time and swoops in on Teresa and gives her his own sloppy smoochy kiss as the sharky guitar music plays. Teresa goes along with this for a while and then pulls away when he gets more ardent. She starts in with the whole story about we can't do this, think of Luisa, think of Professor Hottie, yadda yadda yadda. When Fernando says but do you want me, she says yes and just strings him along. He's actually kind of following her around, hovering, hoping to cop another feel. Sexual frustration, thy name is Fernando.

One of the things Teresa says to a panting and frustrated Fernando is that he is used to getting any woman he wants. Yes, she's got that right! When Fernando isn't looking, she's rolling her eyes like he's the biggest idiot that she's having to endure. But she tells him that she thinks she's falling in love with him. Oh boy, he looks a bit shell-shocked by that one.

Okay I think I missed something here. With the conversation between Luisa and Lucia, I think Lucia is talking about her own unhappy love life and how she's now single but determined to be happy. Or something.

More smooching between Fernando and Teresa. Teresa's rolling her eyes as Fernando smothers her neck with kisses. He says he's never felt this way before. She reminds him that he's on the verge of getting married, what about Professor Hottie, yadda yadda.

After more heavy breathing between Teresa and Fernando, she delivers what I think was the whole point all along—if Luna Turquesa goes for a good price (I think?) then she can start anew (meaning she can run off with him, right?).

Rubigote sees that accountant guy in a restaurant and confronts him in a big yelly scene. Accountant guy says it wasn't him who ratted out Rubigote and caused him to go to jail, it was Teresa. Rubigote is yelling "Teresa Teresa Teresa!" as he holds poor accountant guy by the collar and shakes him.

More with Teresa playing Fernando.

More with Rubigote yelling at the accountant. He still blames him and says he betrayed him.

Back and forth with Teresa and Fernando. They can't see each other. But if Luna Turquesa can get a good price . . . Fernando is in a position to do that.

She says that it's better if they not be alone anymore. Fernando looks absolutely devastated and is the epitome of sexual frustration.

There's a conversation between Teresa and Oriana (sp?) in Fernando's apartment (I think). I'm obviously missing something again. Teresa has a photo she took on her phone which shows that Oriana and Aeeeeda talking to each other, establishing that they are in cahoots, I guess. Then there's something about how Fernando has offered many times for her (and Professor Hottie?) to stay in his apartment. Still a bit confused by this. Oriana seems to understand what's going on and severely says that they have to talk.

Lucia is drawing swans in a sketchbook as Professor Hottie approaches. She says that she thinks that maybe it would be better if she not work for them (I think because she can tell Teresa is not totally okay with it) and she can recommend someone else. He says no way. It's hard to find someone (you work with) that you can trust. She smiles sweetly at this.

Weird sharky exchange between Teresa and Oriana. Teresa says she knows that Cutberto the chofer was the one who told her all the gossip that messed things up between her and Professor Hottie. Oriana says that she only told Professor Hottie the truth. Then I think Oriana makes some snipe about how Teresa will leave him for an otro hombre (another man) some day. Teresa slinks in for the kill. She says something about how she can get any man she wants, and she then says she can have Oriana's son (Fernando)! Oriana wastes no time and gives Teresa a resounding slap across the face. You're not going to mess with my son! Oriana proclaims.

Brief scene where Lucia says she's loyal, and that they are friends. She's happy to sign a confidentiality agreement and get to work. It'll be nice to work with the brother of her friend, Luisa. Smiles all around.

Teresa says to Oriana that if she will just accept Teresa that things will be okay and there won't be any trouble. Oriana says that she tried to help Professor Hottie financially, but his pride kept him from accepting. So she doesn't think that she can get him to accept it now(?). Again I apologize because I'm missing something. Then there is something about how Teresa says that Oriana won't accept Teresa only because she was born poor. Oriana corrects her and says no, it's because you're too ambitious. She then says (I think) that because she (Teresa) is smart and has a career, she could be successful, but she wanted the fast track, so she married money.

Teresa replies that she loves Professor Hottie, and then says, "You have no idea what I've been willing to do to help him!" Oooooh. I think the part she left out was, "You have no idea what I've been willing to do TO FERNANDO" (Or "with Fernando").

Lucia and Professor Hottie working together. I guess it's getting late. He asks her if she's tired. She says it's okay, now that she's signed the confidentiality agreement, she can take the paperwork home and work on it there. She says something about how she doesn't think that Teresa would like to see her having dinner there. Prof. Hottie says that they only work at the house, and that Luisa and Fernando live in it now.

Fernando comes in and Luisa makes small talk about the upcoming wedding with him and Luisa. Fernando looks less than thrilled.

Oriana isn't getting it and thinks that Teresa couldn't do much to help Professor Hottie. She thinks that Teresa would just run off with a richer man. Teresa makes some veiled comment about how that might happen (i.e. Fernando will be the richer man). Oriana doubts that Professor Hottie will recover from his financial upset quickly, but if he does, she doubts it'll be due to anything Teresa did. She then leaves by saying something about how if Teresa did leave him, she'd be doing him a favor, and that she'll stop being a threat (?) to Luisa and Fernando. I tried but I'm not getting this completely. Teresa has an angry, tight, determined look on her face, anyway.

Fernando is talking with Professor Hottie and he's saying he's thinking about what he wants to do with his inheritance. He wants to help Prof. Hottie and Teresa and get Luna Turquesa (I think). Professor Hottie thanks him, says he knows that Fernando wants to help, and says that his situation is not so critical that he's going to give up the only real valuable thing he has left. (I think his pride? Self-respect?)

Rubigote is telling Aeeeeda about his troubles with Teresa being behind him getting into trouble with the law.

Yes, I guess it was Professor Hottie's pride he was talking about. He says that if the time comes when he needs help, he'll let Fernando know. Luisa comes in and after Prof. Hottie leaves, she's talking about wedding plans. Fernando says whatever she decides is fine with him, but she says no, she needs him for this.

Aeeeeda is sufficiently angry at Teresa's involvement, and vows that they'll (her and Rubigote) will get revenge.

Teresa's rooting through her jewelry-laden Teddy Bear, apparently making sure she's set in case she's got to leave Professor Hottie. Professor Hottie arrives home at this time. He says that Fernando offered a good price on Luna Turquesa. She says take it! Oh, he's not so sure. She then ups the ante by saying that she's been thinking about it and she'd love to have his hijos. If they could start again, then it could happen. Kissy kiss.

Some brief conversation between Mariano and Cutberto. Both talking about their hopes to see the ladies in their lives and get things rolling.

Juana has a semi-argument with Hector the Director. He doesn't want that Mariano guy sniffing around his daughter. He'll never forget Teresa and he's just going to keep hurting Aurora. Juana sticks up for Mariano and says she thinks he's for real this time. Blah blah blah. Hector the Director gets adamant and animated in defense of his daughter. Juana is seeing both sides to things, but she doesn't want to fight with Hector the Director.

In the morning, Fernando comes over for breakfast and hears that Professor Hottie isn't, apparently, going to take his offer. (I think.)

Geno and Rubigote are ranting about how that darn Teresa is to blame for all their troubles. Aeeeeda comes in. She's got some plot where I think she's going to buy the shares(?) of Martin on Luna Turquesa, thus screwing things up for Teresa and Professor Hottie, leaving them with nothing.

END OF EPISODE! Sorry if I got things wrong, I know I did!

La Pola - September 1, 2011 - Discussion Page

Pola narrowly escapes being caught by the royalist army. The Almeida brothers tell her to go to Santa Fé with Juliano. She is to go to Mrs. Recaute’s (sp?) house. She stops at Doña Matea’s house on her way and learns that Matea’s husband has returned from Spain and that they will remain in America. When she arrives at her destination, she finds none other than Col. Rodriguez who looks unnaturally baby-faced in civilian clothing. She accuses him of cowardice and treason, and he tries in vain to explain. Meanwhile Alejo has lead an ill-fated charge against the royalist army and against the advice of Arcos. He will not be called a coward. His forces are outnumbered and overrun and what remains of his troops are captured and taken to Popayan to jail. Pedrito and Vivianito who have miraculously survived will be set free because they are minors. General Sámano is in charge and he recognizes Alejo in the cell. According to the laws of war, Sámano orders the prisoners to be set apart by quinto – every fifth one will be executed by lots. Alejo is among those who are to be executed. Gaspar and Eusebia go to the convent to beg the Mother Superior to plead with Sámano to spare the lives of their nephew and of Alejo. Sámano has already ordered the execution and Alejo and six others are lined up and ready to be shot. Their heads will be cut off and displayed for all to see what happens to traitors. Iglesias, who was also imprisoned, has convinced Sámano to set him free and let him rejoin the royalist army. To test his fidelity, Sámano orders him to be a member of the firing squad.
