La Fea Más Bella #201-202 2/7/11 Desperate Times Allow Desperate Measures

Capitulo 201.
Read K-Fuego’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Tom says he’s Erasmo’s boss now. Wrong!

2. Alicia is horrified that she has to ride the microbus. She insults everyone, and then she doesn’t want to exit where the cuartel will see her.

3. The judge thinks they’re playing games with the legal system. He’ll postpone the liquidation of Conceptos, but he gives them only three months, not six, to teach them respect for the law. They have to pay off debts of $6.5M. Sanchez insists that reconciliation is better than battle, and he insists that Fern and Lety hug as part of that reconciliation. They hug awkwardly.

4. Fern begs Lety to let him work at the office to help dig Conceptos out of debt, and she agrees, calling him “Señor Fernando.” See the transcript.

5. The cuartel drools over Aldo and he takes them out to breakfast. Luigi hauls him away. Aldo’s talk to Luigi sure seems like flirting. Luigi sets up Aldo in his new office.

Capitulo 202.
Read Julie’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Luigi introduces Aldo to Marcia. Hippy Ed could recognize a person’s inner self because he’s perceptive. Poser Aldo can recognize what Lety told him about people and seem perceptive.

2. Fern tells Lety they should work together because they both share in the problem. He’s responsible because he caused it. She reminds him that now the responsibility is hers, and the sooner they get out of debt, the sooner she doesn’t have to see him anymore. (Lety, you’re ugly when you’re mean.)

3. The cuartel tries to figure things out. The embargo lawyers are Lety’s lawyers. There were financial problems between Lety and Fern. Lety was very cold to Fern last night. Marta suggests, only half joking, that there was a romance between them.

4. They arrive late and Marcia lays into them. Alicia arrives even later with a big run in her stocking. Sara asks if the rules apply to everyone. Ali whines to Marcia that Lety’s out to get her. Marcia reminds her that she was late. Ali yammers on about the microbus and Marcia falls asleep. The cuartel poisons Lety against Marcia while Ali poisons Marcia against Lety.

5. Lety tells Lopez he has to consult with her before he fires anyone. She’ll talk to Marcia herself.

6. Aldo tells a caller that he’s opening the restaurant to win a woman’s heart. Alicia comes down to scope him out and sets her sights on him. Luigi arrives and says he’s already staked his claim. He kicks Ali out and Aldo kicks Luigi out.

Tu servidor recapper is going to save some time here. De hoy en adalante (from now on), whenever Alicia tells Marcia anything about Lety, she twists it to try to make Marcia hate Lety more. If Lety says, “Could you please ask Doña Marcia to meet me in the conference room,” Alicia reports it as, “Lety ordered you to report to her immediately in the conference room, and that’s an order! That’s exactly how she said it.” I don’t want to describe that every time, but know that it’s there. The cuartel does the same thing to Lety, though not 100% of the time. Any time I refer to Alicia or the cuartel talking to their patrons poisonously, I’m taking special notice that they are pitting one against the other.

Spanish Lesson
F: This is not about anything personal. You made yourself perfectly clear last night. I want to talk about my position in Conceptos. I know you don’t want to see me.
L: I think it’s for the best, Don Fernando.
F: But I need to help pay the debts, especially with the horrible deadline the judge gave us. Lety, you need to rescue the company. We should work together just like before. In such a grave situation, you can’t afford to leave me on the fringe. You need me. Accept it. I’m willing to assist you in whatever you like. The challenge is too big - $6.5M in three months. That’s a titanic task. All I need is a space to work in. No, not your office. I can share Omar’s office. And use of a secretary? I would be very grateful. Yes, Omar too. He might be able to do something.
L: I can’t deny you entrance to Conceptos. And I need everyone’s help to succeed.
F: I promise, we’ll only talk about what is strictly necessary.
L: I have some ideas for projects. We’re in big problems, Señor Fernando.

Comments:
They allude to a wedding at the judge’s office. He asks for the witnesses, he has them both sign as they would a marriage license, and he says, “by the power vested in him by… I now pronounce you creditor and debtor.” They exit through the lines as if they were exiting the church. In fact, even the bride’s father is there!

The pseudo wedding in the judges office was the best part of the whole 2 hours!!!

Aldo is getting snakier by the episode. He definitely is leading Luigi on. The way he stood real close and spoke sexily to him in front of the elevator, (Luigi even says Aldo gave him goosebumps) the way he put his hand on Luigi's shoulder in his office... Snake! And BTW why is Aldo's office larger than Marcia's? He doesn't even work for Conceptos and Marcia agrees to let him use the space???

The second hour was a total filler hour. Nothing advanced the plot, but I do like the Alicia/Luigi scenes!

The hug between Lety/Fern; I didn't think was awkward. On Fern's part, he enjoyed the small amount of Lety he was able to get. Lety was just embarrassed because her Dad was there. (Thats what I believe, and I'm sticking to it!)

Okay Aldo lovers, try and defend Aldo's actions today.......

Diann

Yes, Paula, I loved that ironic little scene. There was also some good physical comedy in this episode -- especially at the juzgado's office.

Alicia was very funny today. Does she really think that describing all of her qualities to every man she meets will attract them to her? I love the way that she assumes that the handsome, rich, single guy who appears is naturally hers if she wants him.

Even though they are sometimes boring I usually like the cuartel but the very idea that they think it's ok to go out to breakfast just because they meet a good looking guy and then act offended when they aare accused of tardiness is just too much.

Way too much filler in these two hours.

Güera

Thanks for the recap(s). I worked later and missed both hours. Kicking myself that I missed Alicia's ride on the microbus. One of the best scenes ever!
La Paloma

Diann, I just read your challenge. OK I stand by what I said Friday. I don't think that Aldo is focused on the flirting from Luigi because he's too single minded about his own two projects and Lety. I think that there's a classic misunderstanding between him and Luigi. Luigi sees what he wants to see and Aldo is clueless. ( That's my story & I'm sticking to it) The one I'm disappointed in is Carolina. She watched the whole thing and just seemed to find it amusing. She could have put a stop to the misunderstanding but idn't.
Güera

I know I won't get much agreement, but here's my villain theory.

Ariel is not the villain in LFMB. It’s Omar.
A. Why it’s NOT Ariel.

1. The villain has no conscience, no morals. Ariel does. Look how he cares for Marcia. Omar has none.
2. The villain causes huge problems in the hero’s life. Ariel was just an annoyance; he never created serious problems. Omar’s actions nearly destroyed Fern.
3. The villain’s motive is typically hatred or destruction. Ariel’s motive was the justified fear that Fern would lose the company. He was kept from the truth, so he used any means he could to find the truth.
4. Ariel bullied to feel powerful because he felt his birthright had been stolen. But did he ever actually destroy anything?

B. Why the villain IS Omar.

1. Character. Omar has no morals. None.

2. Villain test: does Omar bring suffering to the hero? BOY HOWDY!!!

3. Motive. Repeatedly when Fern spoke well of Lety, Omar said or did something particularly cruel in response. Omar wrote The Letter immediately after Fern stomped on him pretty hard for how he treated Lety. I won’t say Omar had a grand plan to destroy Lety, but I will say that many of his actions, including the Letter, were motivated jealousy.

4. Destruction. What were the results of Omar’s actions?
* Fern trusted Lety until Omar pushed him to distrust her. To Lety, Fern's unpardonable sin was not that he didn't love her (she accepted that), but that he didn't trust her love for him. And it is Omar who prompted that distrust.
* Omar hatched the seduction plot. Fern refused because it was cruel and despicable, but Omar pushed until he accepted.
* Omar wrote the letter that caused Lety to turn against Fern, and Omar left it lying out, unsecured.
* Many times Fern wanted to quit the game, but Omar pushed and made sure he never abandoned it.
* Fern was determined to cancel his wedding, but Omar pushed until Fern concluded he had to marry Marcia. If Fern would have canceled the wedding, would Lety have reacted differently? Possibly.
* Lety had decided to present the false balance, until she heard Omar talking about sending her away, and Fern agreed. She was ready to leave quietly, but that last straw pushed her to drop the bombshell.

I won't deny that Fern is responsible for his wrong decisions. But again and again, it is Omar, the villain, who is pushing him to the wrong decisions that bring his destruction.

LOL - Diann - you've laid out the gauntlet for us eh? To defend Aldo. I think today he def showed a lot more spunk than we've seen his entire run on LFMB. I enjoyed that he's starting to manipulate things to his own ends...I think he's getting the info and infrastructure he needs to secure his Leticia. If it requires a little harmless flirting then he's willing to do it. I don't find it any worse than anything Don Fern has done to get what he wants. The difference here is that Aldo wants the girl, Fern initially wanted la empresa.

If Aldo turns out to be a real villain then I'll admit it here when that is revealed, but for now I see him as simply sly like a fox. I don't mind his slyness at all - I think it will serve him well (for now). He's getting all of the information he needs because he knows it will be a tough battle to win the heart of the lady he wants!

I love the fact that everyone is suddenly in love with Aldo. Things will really start to get interesting when he reveals his intentions towards Lety. Can't wait for him and Fern to finally meet. Hope that they don't drag that moment out for 5 more episodes, get on with it already.

I was a little distracted today - will try to re-watch at least Cap 201 to see the physical comedy again. The 2nd hour was plain filler although I'll agree the scenes with Alicia were HILARIOUS! She stole the show most of today although her whining to Marcia was a little of the same old same old.

I'd fire the whole cuartel if they worked for me. Those women are the laziest, most gossipy group of people I've ever seen in a workplace. Such a mess! But I know Lety would never do that...I like the fact that she's at least doing a little investigating and letting them know in her own way that they can't take advantage of her new position as president. The 2nd hour was sort of torture for me - I enjoyed the funny moments, but I'll admit the cuartel drives me nuts!

PS - I love Fern too - I just want him to man up! He's on the road to it, but I want to see more progress like dumping marcia before I'm ready to declare him the better guy.

PPS- I recall reading recaps from earlier eps where Marcia has defended the cuartel at different points in the story. What's happened now that she's outright attacking them instead of defending them? What changed?

Georgia Peach,
What changed? Lety. Marcia was always fair to the cuartel before. but now she's in us vs them mode and the cuartel are Lety's friends.

Paula, I don't agree that Omar qualifies as a villain. I don't think he was ever out to destroy anyone -- even Lety. He didn't respect her. He didn't think she was a real person since she came from a lower socioeconomic class than he & doesn't dress and act like his kind of people. I'm not defending that attitude - just stating it. But he's just a lost little boy without any real purpose and he hatched that horrible plot to try to save his skin and Fernando's -- not to hurt. As for Ariel he's just so mean and spiteful that I can't stand being around him. He's too real in his desire to inflict harm. But you're right that he is not at all a classic villain.

Güera

Paula, thanks. I enjoyed the first hour with the Judge. Who was it compaining about the beauty contestants and wanting the caurtel back? Oh yea that was me. Careful what you wish for huh.

Alicia on the short bus was a hoot.

Paula loved your analysis of why Omar is the villain. I can see your passion for this show. But I disagree. He is not smart. At all. Omar is a pretty face and not much perhaps that is why I find him boring. Villains have to be smart and have a purpose in why they set out to destroy the hero. Omar does not want Lety neither Conceptos and he does love Fern in his own way. I tend to think that if you want a villain it is Aldo who is ingratiating himself with everyone at Conceptos. He is sneaky with that ready glo-brit smile. As someone said the cuartel had fern around all this time and they swoon over Aldo? not sure I buy it. I still think that Ariel is evil. As for villain it is Aldo or maybe this is just a greek tragedy and the flaw in our hero is what will bring him down.
Jenn

I may have missed this, and it's kind of an outdated question at this point, but was was that blurred-out object on the HaHAs' desk? I think one of them told Tomas it was a pen-holder, but obviously it had an interesting shape if it had to be blurred out.

Okay, so, Aldo. I think Aldo very well knows the effect he has on Luigi, and he's letting it work for him. But I would hardly consider this to be evidence of poor morals or a mean streak. Aldo is not actively leading Luigi on. Luigi is being very presumptuous with Aldo and basically leading himself on, more than anything else.

Personally I do think Aldo should be actively discouraging Luigi, but I'm okay with the moral gray area of being neutrally friendly and letting Luigi basically hang himself on his own ego.

Omar. Ariel. Aldo. Hmm.

I do not think Aldo has shown any sign of villainy to date. Maybe some short-sightedness or selfishness, but no destructiveness, either incidental or intentional. He's certainly not proactively kind to everyone (proactive kindness would be something like nipping Luigi's crush in the bud), but if there's anything up his sleeve other than a desire to secure Lety's love and do the book and restaurant, he hasn't revealed it yet.

Omar as villain - as long as we're not calling him an evil genius I can agree that he has fulfilled many of the duties of a villain. But I think he is more of an animal (i.e. amoral and acting on instinct) rather than a malicious mastermind.

(OK, he did mastermind the seduction of Lety... but Lety was already 90% pre-seduced. All she needed was a little bit of hope.)

But doesn't a villain wreck things on purpose? I think all of Omar's misdeeds were based on an honest and desperate desire to save the company and his job. He may not have cared if a couple of dishes got broken in the process, but he wasn't TRYING to break those dishes, either.

As for Ariel, I don't think we can consider his concern for Marcia proof that he's better than Omar. Marcia is Ariel's sister; maybe he's protective of his sisters as possessions which, like Conceptos and the toy car at his saint's day party, he enjoys keeping out of Fernando's grasp.

I'm also not sure that every story needs to have a villain. A complication, yes; but not necessarily a villain. Omar could certainly be said to be one of those complications. So could Ariel. So could Fernando, for letting his rivalry with Ariel get in the way of his better judgment, if he ever had any.

Julie, I wandered about the blurred out statue as well and went back to see if it was blurred on my originals. It wasn't. It actually was really hard to see what it really was. It sort of looked like one of those gothic nude, pudgy figurines. Can't figure out why they would have blurred it. Unless you looked closely you would have never noticed it. I looked close and still couldn't figure it out.

Julie enjoyed your orignal reccap.

I think our story has several villains...depending upon the situation. You could call Marcia and Alicia villains as well. I agree Omar is no evil genius - he just happens to be a catalyst for stupid behavior.

I'd say as for Ariel having concern for Marcia (protecting her) I think it's more of a reaction of keeping something away from Fern, rather than having any special interest in protecting her. That's just my two cents...

Julie, in your list of possible villains, Omar, Ariel, Aldo, you omitted Jenn's suggestion (and your own) the Fernando is his own enemy.

As for the thing on the HaHAs' desk. I was in the army during the Carter years and saw that object many times so I recognized it right away (the Carter years were not the military's shining hour). It's a coffee mug in the form of a naked breast, with a hole.. well, use your imagination. I recoiled when I saw the thing on the show, probably because I was remembering the colleagues I knew 30 years ago who thought it was a cool thing to have on their desk.

First hour was great, second hour kinda boring except for Alicia who is always a hoot. I think Juan Soler was having a hell of a time keeping a straight face around Sergio Mayer/Luigi. Sergio seems to crack everybody up.

I loved the "wedding" scene in the judge's office. It was very clever. I wonder if comparing their business to a wedding was planned in advance or something they came up with during shooting?

Re: Aldo, I still fail to see what he did in these episodes that is even remotely reprehensible. Maybe I am missing something. So he's not being completely up front with Luigi, big deal.

Paula, I like your analysis of Ariel and Omar as non villain and villain. My gut reaction makes me feel that Ariel is more of a villain than Omar but based on your points I'll keep an open mind and pay special attention to these characters in future episodes. Omar as a "catalyst for stupid behavior" is certainly a great description for him at any rate.

Since I had the time I did read the two original recaps and they are both a hoot! Nice job to Kris and Julie on those.

Great job on today's recap and screenshots. The screenshots are even funnier than usual. I enjoyed today's Spanish Lesson too, it was truly a pivotal moment for our two leads and was a good way to get Don Fernie back into Conceptos. I was worried about less screen time for Jaime Camil. Silly me.

Aldo is just too slick which makes me question his motivations. He is ingratiating himself with everyone at Conceptos to solidify his position with Lety. As to the scene in the judge's office - what a hoot. Fernando didn't want to let go of Lety when he hugged her. She was the one who pulled away. I might remind everyone that hurting people hurt people. Lety has been very hurt by Fernando and as a protective mechanism, she is going to be extra cold and somewhat mean to him. She's afraid she'll fall back under his spell again. Eventually Fernando will realize this. He took a big step today by humbling himself before Lety, admitting his faults, and then offering his help. I, too, am looking foward to Fernando and Aldo meeting. When you see the two together it will be like seeing a blazing fire next to a lukewarm smolder. The two can't compete with each other. Aldo quiets Lety's mind and spirit, but Fernando brings fire to every fiber of her being. She'll go for the fire in the end because the love she has for Fernando is deep and eternal. The love she has for Aldo is friendship and gratefulness.

Barbara, you have demonstrated on more than one occasion that you have much better telenovela instincts than I do. I'm still glad Aldo is around because he will shake things up a little, or maybe a lot. Yes, I agree he's pretty slick. I cannot deny that poor Aldo is a lukewarm smolder when compared to Fernando. Thank you for the fire analogy, it reminds me of my suggestion for Fer and Lety's theme song, "Ring of Fire". Boy howdy do they heat up a room when they are together!

I will say one positive thing about Aldo, his smile is dazzling. Just goes to show that people look more attractive when they smile (usually). Still, compared to Fernando and his awesome orange tie Aldo is beige and tepid. (Apologies to all beige lovers.)

Well, I mentioned Fernando's rivalry with Aldo as one of the complications, and I did suggest him to you as the villain earlier as well; but if we are considering the villain to be a willing architect of destruction, than I can't give him much credit either. He, like Omar, was bumbling for the sake of self-interest.

Ariel KNOWINGLY, and unbumblingly, employed blackmail and bribery to achieve his goals, so maybe he's the best candidate for a would-be villain. (Isn't it more villainous when the guy knows what he's doing?) But on the other hand, he didn't end up destroying anything. Not a villain.

I'm pretty much rejecting the notion that there's a villain here. Nobody was plotting to ruin anything. The destruction of Conceptos (and Lety 1.0, and Fernando 1.0) was a team effort (anti-effort?) that would have been much less spectacular if not for the combined failures of Fernando, Omar, and Lety (in any order you wish). They're like a Codependent Equilateral Triangle of Doom.

LOL @ the Triangle of Doom. I love that term! haha - I still say Alicia and Marcia are the villains in this piece!

Sorry about the deleted comment - I had written something that I then realized might be mistaken for a spoiler. Here's the non-spoilery rest of it:

BarbaraM, I am innately very distrustful of people who are too "slick" (I think it was Decie Girl who called him "glib" in one of the old recap comments), which is one reason Aldo really started rubbing me the wrong way when he showed up in the DF.

That's why it wasn't clear to me, at this stage of the story, if the writers were simply trying too hard to make him the "perfect man" who always says and does the most perfect and romantic thing for his lady. If that was the writers' intention, they unwittingly pushed some buttons in those of us who see "perfection" as calculating and premeditated. (Especially after all those months with Fernando and Omar, who ironically WERE calculating... in a bumbling way... with disastrous results!)

Julie, I think you're right about the writers. They are trying to provide Lety with the perfect man as opposed to Fernando, who is definitely imperfect. But his imperfections, though frustrating at times, makes him a much more dynamic personality than bland Aldo. He speaks platitudes that I sometimes wonder if he says them to just hear himself talking. I know Lety really cares about Aldo because he is a calm sea after the rough tossing she's been given by Fernando. Eventually Lety will have to compare the two men side-by-side and decide which one touches her innermost being. We all know that is Fernando, but that epiphany is still a long ways off. All three need to grow up and that includes Aldo. He needs a good dose of reality that puts his platitudes where they work best - in the dumpster.

Full Circle. Back in the beginning, Lety devoted her life to working for Fernando. Even though he found her revolting at first, she worked her way into his heart by being so indispensable. Now he thinks he’s revolting to her, and he’s begging for the chance to work with her to pay the debt. He says he'll do whatever task she needs.

Another full circle: Lety used to moon over Fernando, but she never dared flirt with him nor make any kind of romantic gestures. Now Fern is in the same position.

Watch for Full Circle situations. There will be a lot of them coming up.

Someone mentioned that Aldo's character seems poorly developed. That's always bothered me too. It's because at this stage he's an invention of Televisa. The original characters are all complex and fully fleshed out. Aldo... it's like, when they were restoring Da Vinci's Last Supper, they replaced one of the apostles with a stick figure!

Pat, thank you for the screen shots. Folks, more good ones are coming this week.

Paula, I like your Full Circle theory. Its like Lety went one direction on the cirle, now its Fern's turn, and they WILL eventually end up meeting on that circle.

I don't believe there are any villains, per se. To be a villain you have to know what you are doing, and Omar is a blockhead. Ariel is clueless about anything non-money related. Oh, but Aldo DOES know what he is doing..... Okay, Aldo is the VILLIAN! (Glo-Brite smile et al)

BarbaraM, yes, Fernando is a blazing, roaring, fire and Aldo is smoldering ashes. No comparison.
Aldo = NambyPamby = Milquetoast = Bland Cream of Wheat = Sour Cream =Aldo.
Can't wait to see them side by side, NO comparison.

Diann

It's amazing that we're getting this many comments on two rather dull episodes. I'm loving it!!! As much as some of us are annoyed about the insertion of Aldo, he certainly provides a lot of grist for the mill. Likewise the villain question certainly got a lot of juices flowing. It's interesting the variety of ideas we have regarding what makes a villain. This is fun!

This discussion of what makes a villain is very interesting. If we define the villain as someone who is deliberately trying to separate our two heroes then Aldo is definitely it. Marcia too. Heck just about everybody right now including Lety. She gets special permission however considering the emotional pain that Fer inflicted upon her.

The problem (or good thing) with this show is that the good and bad characters can be very dynamic. There isn't one obvious villain who is going around sneakily or overtly trying to wreak destruction. Most of the main characters in Fea embody both good and bad qualities. The character development is good enough that the viewer can understand their motivation even though we might not agree with it.

I don't think sour cream is particularly bland, but the mention of cream of wheat sparked a connection in my head. (Ow!)

When you've been really sick, you have to go on a bland diet for a while. No hot wings, no tequila, no habanero salsa.

Lety's been heartsick, and Aldo is white rice and dry toast for the soul.

Will he be able to kick it up a notch (BAM!) when she gets her appetite back?

Overdose of the cuartel today. What kind of idiots are they to stand around in front of the office, see a slick dude and hustle him for breakfast. Then again Aldo is big on using people to ferret out information he can use in his pursuit of Lety so his actions make kind of perverted sense.

Luigi certainly thinks highly of himself to install Aldo in a huge office without discussing it with anyone. He certainly has gotten down on his beloved Rulli, calling him fat. Don't remember Jorge Salinas ever even being close to fat -LOL.

Just as I thought - the coven thinks they can swan around in Conceptos anytime they want since Lety is the president. Can't see Erasmo letting that go on for long since he is such a stickler for correct behavior.

I don't see Omar as a villain at all. His first loyalty is and always was to Fern and Conceptos. His idea was stupid especially in putting it all in writing but Fern didn't have to follow through. Throughout Fea Omar is always there for Fern and he pays a painful price for it. I've always suspected that there is some deep hurt in his past which makes him so afraid of loving someone. Fern always says he has no heart but my feeling is that he has too much of one and hides it.

Ariel on the other hand has none. He is protective of Marcia but I think that is driven by his desire to take over Conceptos and/or stick it to Fern. His treatment of Alicia is purely sadistic. The first time around some of us believed that he had actually raped Alicia remembering how she cried when she was at his apartment. I wouldn't put it past him.

Totally agree with the comment that Lety is ugly when she acts mean and unfortunately i see a lot of it on the horizon. This is where she and i begin to part company.

Truthfully Fea does not have a true villain in the traditional style. One more reason this novela stands apart from the rest.

Decie girl, I totally agree about Ariel's sadism toward Alicia. He likes to bully the weak, so I love it every time he takes on Lety. He thinks he can blow her away with his superior... everything! And she just sends him off with his tail between his legs, until he comes back for more!

Please be careful not to hint about future things in the show. Thanks.

I agree with most of you who say there is no clear villain here, and the closest thing would be Omar (3 digit IQ? nah!... smart in relationships? no way!... he was looking after his own interests... both keeping Fernando as his play partner and his money invested in Conceptos... did he put Conceptos first? not even close. Fernando did to some extent. So I conclude that IMO Omar was a sometimes clueless, less smart than eh thinks, childish, selfish jealous of lety semi-villain of the story.
And I too agree with those who say Aldo is not acting like a villain in leading Luigi adn others, he is just gaining time adn information to be as supportive of Lety as he can in the 'mission' she has ahead of her. Is he also interested in her? of course! but I dont think he would cheat to get her.

Deciegirl,
Very interesting you mention Omar has a heart but has been smooshed. Thinking back, wasn't he the one who could put together the romantic lines on the cards? Fern at that time couldn't express anything romantic for the cards. Also, Omar was the one who knew what kind of little gifts Lety would like (that had to take some insight). Good thought, Omar has some heart somewhere.
Diann

Yes Diann, but it was all calculated. He was like the high school smooth talker who knew exactly which lines would get the girls in bed with him. It's like the old Vaudville performers who would tell the same jokes to a different audience every night - they were able to polish those lines to perfection. That's how people like George Burns and Jack Benny became such masters of comedy.

As he was preparing the cards like this, he told Fernando, "This kind of thing just kills feas like her." It had nothing to do with his heart. It had everything to do with his batting average.

The pseudo wedding in the judges office was the best part of the whole 2 hours!!!
I so totally agree! Jaime's facial expressions were priceless!

Actually, before they headed inside the judge's office, Lety and Fernando were getting prepped more for a boxing match (Tomas was massaging her shoulders, the lawyers were doing similar with Fer) than a wedding, but everything changed when instead of facing each other they were side by side facing the judge...

Paula,
Ohhhhhhh.........
Diann
