Thank you, Novela Maven, for this very entertaining recap! I love your name for Damian, when you call him Dam Fab, I supposed you mean
DAMN FABULOUS, right?

I still think WL is ugly with that hair, but looking at his body helps a lot :)

So far my favorite character is Esthercita, the girls knows how to make a scene...

Ximena N is very pretty and she and WL make a decent pair, so far. She is really making an effort to do a good job with the part, although she still has a lot to learn.

I really don't care about Lazaro and his new lady friend, I hope this B plot doesn't take to much air time.

 

I started laughing at the title (inspired!) and smiled through the entire recap. NovelaMaven, you can make the finest episode shine even brighter and liven up and enhance not so stellar episodes to the point that by the time we are finished reading, we don't remember the dull, just the poignant.

"They listen to him because, for all their macho posturing, their drinking, their whoring, their fighting, they are all good Catholic boys." Perfection. "Ful-of-himself" and "overprotective scold" were just a few more of my favs.

Adriana Noel, I loved Dam Fab too, but I suspect, it might mean Damian Fab?

I'm enjoying the "mating dance". Right now neither Dam nor Marina are cutting each other slack, but a begrudging respect seems to be slowly emerging. Of course, Dam has to leave his neanderthal ideas behind and try to join the 21st century in order to truly progress.

"Ful-of-himself" is dominating his scenes with his fury (and those dulcet tones - sigh)...

Hernán has no charm (for me) whatsoever. Marina doesn't seem all that impressed either.

Now that Esthecita has drunkenly revealed (to the entire town) that Dam is innocent, she was the pursuer, and that she lied, it will be interesting to see how and if her reputation will ever be restored. Isn't one of the virtues of being a good vilain the ability to do your dirty work and sow your seeds of discontent, quietly and behind the scenes? ;)

I'm surprised by Estercita. I never thought she would confess to the whole town. I feel sorry for her, with that putz of a Papa. And the Get Thee To a Nunnery, really???

I like how Marina is standing up for him, when she really doesn't like his behavior toward her. I agree he does need to wake up and smell, well the coffee and get with the times. After he dumped her in the drink she is still defending him. Hmmmmm.......

Hernan is a big brown noser. Suck up to Mummy and get in good with her. That said, I too like the way he is defending Marina to Fool Gen Cio. So who is the boss of whom here?

I wonder what the past is between Mercedes and Michel? She was rubbing that grave rather lovingly.

I really enjoyed this episode...well, what I really loved was Estercita's epic drunken confession in front of the whole town. She is very entertaining. But, if I were her, I wouldn't return home. I'd take refuge with the priest. If Foolgencio slapped her around when he privately found out she boinked Dam Fab, just think about how he'll react to her making a spectacle of herself and their family in front of the town.
 

Novela Maven, I got so excited last night while watching this episode because I just knew we were in for the best recap ever! Cap #4 was chock full o'nuts and action from beginning to end. LOVE your recap title and I knew I'd better set my cup of tea right down before continuing.

It's hard to choose a favorite line, but I really liked the bit about the crew's drinking and whoring but being good Catholic boys. And Dam Fab ('fraid that's a keeper folks) and Ful-of-himself-io are inspired brilliance. And comparing Hernan to Eddie Haskell...well you nailed that one.

"M&Ms are melting all over the patio", snort! Mayuya "determined to keep the ice on her friend's head" had me cracking up because that poor actress was having a heck of a time what with Estercita rolling her head all over the place.

Speaking of Estercita, can Laura Carmine chew up a scene or what? Wow! Between her wailing, Cesar Evora's epic blustering, and Monica Miguel's fainting spells I think we are in for a roller coaster ride. Can't wait!

Thanks again NM. I do love the way your mind works. Thanks for sharing it with us and taking us along for the ride.
 

Oh, and I also got super excited when I saw that Nereo is being played by none other than Gilberto de Anda. (Remember the odious Gasca from Alborada?) He's one of the best bad guys in the business, IMHO. I just love to hate him.

I also love the soundtrack, when they first started airing LT in Mexico I was obsessed with it and now the obsession is back.
Today I'm cleaning the house, while listening this and Mijares on repeat - ohh, good times!
 

I do remember Gasca but didn't recognize him, he was odious.

This episode was my favorite so far. I loved Esthercita's drunken speech to the entire town. I am glad she told the truth and that Damian was set free.

Hernan's good manners and smile are so fake!! Poor deluded Beatriz indeed. I wonder how Hernan knew where Marina lives. Did Marina tell him where she live or was he stalking her again? Hmm.

A STORM CELLAR (also called a storm shelter) is an underground space, kind of like a basement, where people go for safety during severe weather, particularly tornadoes. If you have ever seen the movie, The Wizard of Oz, you may remember Dorothy's family running to the storm cellar for safety.

Cellar (basement or underground level of a dwelling, sometimes used for storage) and seller (vendor or someone who sells something) sound alike in English.

As you know, La Tempestad can be translated as "the storm."

So there you have it -- another play on words. "El sótano de la tempestad," or "la tienda de la tormenta" -- well you get the idea, right?
 

Yesterday was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day and the last thing I felt like doing was writing this recap. But I am very glad that I did -- writing it was therapeutic and reading your comments has been a blast. Thank you everyone for your kind words.

Jazmín as the missing twin? Could be. But I'd be surprised -- she doesn't have the 'glam' factor. Personally, I'm hoping the twins are identical since that opens the door to a horde of hokey plot devices. (A big challenge for newcomer, Ximena, though)

Anyhoo, I decided to give myself a treat and re-read your recap. I highly recommend this because there are so many NM gems in it.

How could I have failed to notice "[Let's hope he gets some heroics under his belt before this is all over.]"? Oh my! I totally missed that adorable double entendre.

I'm thrilled that The Storm Cellar™ is now open for business. I was going to suggest PFDs until I read the comment about the cork shoes. I would definitely approve Marina's cork shoes as a suitable substitute for any USCG approved lifejacket.

NM, your crack about "under his belt" reminded me there seems to be a dearth of manly belt buckles in this one. Hmmm...are they only for the ranch?

Mauricio, this was my favorite episode too.

I think my favorite WL commercial so far is the Pepsi Next where he's wearing an incredibly fake-looking Tom Selleck moustache (yeah yeah, I know it's called The Chevron). He just looks so '70s and smarmy.
 

Novela Maven...I wouldn't wish a no good very bad Judith Viorst day on anyone, but heck, if you can rip off an outrageously funny recap as therapy, then what am I to do?

But as a long-time NM fan, I know you write like gangbusters no matter what else is going on.

I'm gonna say that Estercita is the missing twin and here is why: Her dad is in the biz of selling women, so maybe he and the wife could not have kids (hence the reason she's an only child) and they bought Estercita as a baby. I'm going to bet .01 on this,lol
 

And another reason to bet is that they're both in love with the same hunkalicious man. Perfect for High Drama.

I like CE but, the slapping around of wife and daughter is not working for me. Of course, he is a terrible guy that Fulg.

Good morning and greetings from the patio...no not THE PATIO...my actual patio . The washer is chugging as it swirls our sandy beach togs, the sun is shining, and I am enjoying a quiet, wonderful moment savoring this fun recap. (I had to return from the beach vaca to relax....three little girls 8 months, almost three , and almost six...two dogs ( a giant, ancient golden retriever and a smallish Canadian Duck Toller)...two daughters, one son-in-law, and one hub in one beach cottage ...well, anyway,sitting on the glider on my own patio in my own backyard with my Ipad on my lap reading recaps of Tempestud and Corazon seems like heaven.

NOvelamaven, how do I love thee ?...let me count the ways... (I thought I would thrown a little Browning into the mix. ) loved the new nickname..Ful-of-himself-io is classic...Himself is the greatest villain ever. Dam Fab/Fab Dam was great. Maybe it depends on if we are happy or unhappy with his behavior. Bad Dam could be Dam Fab and good Dam could be Fab Dam.

I have only seen the first episode, so I am anxious to see all the characters I haven't seen yet. I am excited about so many Alborada alumni being together again ..Daniela Roma ( Mercedes/Dona Juana), our old nemesis the cape wearing Gasca , and Monica Miguel ( loyal Modesta in Alborada). Which character is Monica playing in this novela ?

I also love the synergy at Caraycaray. One person has a thought ..throws it out...and six other people add their own ideas. What a think tank..such excellent brainstorming.

Drunk Ester will create lots of comments. I especially liked her mermaid dress for the festival in the first episode. can you imagine her in a convent ???

AS for seabirds, I can identify only a few : gulls, pelicans, sandpipers, albatrosses. Speaking of gulls, a flock of them bombarded my daughter's friend after they dropped a stolen sandwich on the sand and she tried to kick it away . Gulls are bold and brassy if you have so much as a morsel of food on the beach. They hover and then will land and walk right onto your beach towel to try to steal it. I am always reminded of poor Tippy Headron in Hitchcock's "The Birds." Gross and scary.
 

P.s. The police chief in this novela was the corrupt comandante in Alborada.
 

Oh, and Judyb...a little French..although I studied it for two years in high school and two semesters in college, I was never fluent or even passable. I always just smiled and nodded as Madame Coultiere dressed in her orthopedic shoes and old wool suits regaled us with stories of her student days in Paris . Moniga Miguel plays Dam Fab's psychic madrina. Estercita's whiny mother is played by Lucero Lander who was Sor Teresa in Alborada, and I just notice you've already tagged corrupt policeman Valdivio as Alborada's Higinio. Those are the only other Alborada alum's that I recognize.

 

Oh, I just remembered another actor from Alborada...the guy who attacked the maid in the first episode played the dreadful Francisco ( I think that was his name) who was Hippolita's nasty stepfather in Alborada.

Novelamaven, so sorry that you had a Judy Viorst terrible, awful day. Hope that things are better today. You brought so many smiles and laughs to us here at caray2 even though you were having an unhappy day.. Thank you, Amiga, and I am sending you good vibrations for better days ahead )))))

Ooh, ooh...I have a product that I think might be a best seller at The Storm Cellar. I always enjoy reading the tee shirts at the stores selling "crap-from-afar "(remember that one from one of the commenters of FELS ?) This year the following quote was very popular and seen on tank tops in almost all the crappy shops ..."Sun's out, guns out ." Hub told me that he heard a woman ask a clerk " What does that mean ?...Where are the guns ?"

You're so right -- the synergy on this blog really is amazing.

As for playing the "Where are they now?" game -TN actor version, I keep thinking of Daniela R as Doña Bernarda in Mejía's Triunfo del Amor where SHE was the villainous baby-snatcher (and Victoria Ruffo got to clutch a rag dog and blubber for "mija"). Daniela's scene here as a young mother sobbing in the rain and dark of night for the daughter who has been taken from her is almost identical to Victoria's in TdA. Sr Mejía does like to quote himself.

WL was the "It Boy" in TdA, although admittedly something of a mama's boy and a fop (he even sported the occasional ascot). In that one, he only had a kayak. Now he gets a big, honkin' fishing boat.

And César Évora was a great and wonderful Wizard of Telenovela Medicine, not an evil meanie.

I remember watching the first episode of TdA and at the end, when the credits started rolling, I wanted to change the channel, but then I stopped, to gaze at Levy's kayaking skills...you know, in case I ever decide to get into sports.:D

Cap'n...You know what....as soon as I sent that comment, I thought to myself.."I'll bet someone is going to tell me that they DO make kayaks built for two. !!!" Is it like a bicycle built for two ??? Could I just slip into the "backseat" and let William ( or Mauricio or Fernando or Big Ed) do the paddling ??? Better yet, maybe one of my telenovios has a yacht..yeah..a yacht..that's the ticket..no paddling necessary by anyone.

 

Hey Susanlynn, you bet your sweet bippy you could slip into the back seat and let your guapo galan do all the rowing. You can store the kayak on your power boat in case you get bored with sitting around letting him serve you lemonade and need a little exercise.
