La Sombra del Pasado #33 4/2/15 ¿Fiesta o Pesadilla?
This episode felt a little like filler-esque set up...but at the same time oddly tense.
Directo al grano
- Severiano(Sev) instructs Abelardo(Lardo) to break into Dr. Humberto's office, locate the rental contract, take clear and legible pictures of and then trash the office to make it look like a robbery. Lardo gets a wad of cash for the job.
- Renato shares a meal with his mother. She is again overcome with a stabbing pain in her head. Renato begs her to take care of herself and see the neurologist. He will go with her. She finally agrees. His mother quips that he seems more like a father than a son.
- Adelina thanks Emmanuel(E-man) for helping to clean the house, especially since it's his day off. She worries what Sev would do if he found out. Aldonza and Joaquin arrive with new locks. Adelina's eyes are google as she watches Joaquin install the new locks. She thinks about her conversation with Padre Jeronimo(Padre J) when she admitted to only having an admiration and respect for him and nothing more.
- Candela(Cande) runs into Simoneta at the flower stall in the mercado. She can't believe Simoneta is still in town. Simoneta explains that she still hasn't come to an agreement with Sev. Cande thinks Simoneta must be having a dreadfully boring time. Santa Lucia is such a boring town. Simoneta assures her that it's always good to have a little "change of air". When asked what she does with her time, Simoneta says she reads and goes on walks (Doesn't sound half bad to me. I guess Cande is more into meddling and controlling.) Cande invites Simoneta to the party. She accepts.
- Lardo goes to get his friend Tomás (is that his name?) He asks him if he wants to make a little extra money. At first Tomás all "qué flojera! (True line)", but Lardo flashes the wad of cash and Tomás is all "qué chequera!"(Line I made up...'cause it kinda rhymes."
- Aldonza is going to loan Lola a dress for the party. While they look at them they talk about boys. Lola wants to know if Renato is Aldonza's boyfriend and Aldonza denies it. She admits he's handsome and gentlemanly, but it doesn't mean she's forgotten...Lola interrupts to finish her sentence with "Cristobal." Aldonza answers "no." Neither Renato nor Cristobal will keep her from doing what she came to do: recover what was hers.
- Like a good "other woman" Simoneta picks out a red dress to wear.
- Lola couldn't believe Cande invited them all to the party. Aldonza asks how things are going with E-man. Lola is worried that E-man isn't as into her as she is him. She thinks he's more into Mary. Aldonza advises Lola to talk to him.
- Humberto(Hum) kvetches about his cravat. He's not really happy about the party either. He would feel better if he thought Val and Cris were actually in love. Pru tells him to to talk to his cousin about it. It was her idea. She mentions something about the time before they came to Santa Lucia (implying the story we know...that he was run out of the previous town for questionable medical care) and he shushes her.
- I really like the theme song.
- Valeria(Val) looks nice with her hair up. She wants to look super purty for the party. She is looking forward to watching Aldonza suffer as she watches them make the engagement official (super loose translation.) Tonight is the night that they are going to bury Cristobal's dalliance with Aldonza and she will disappear from their lives.
- Cande presents Cristobal(Cris) with his great grandmother's ring to give to Aldonza. Sev gave it to Cande when Cris was born. After she leaves, Cris looks like he's going to puke.
- Irma and Mary look for the car keys. Uriel comes into the living room and thinks Mary's dress is too short and revealing. She refuses to change. Irma backs her up. The dress is not that bad (I'm biting my tongue and channeling Thumper. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.) Uriel has the car key. They are all getting ready to leave and run into Lardo and Tomás on the way out. Lardo tells them he's not going to the party. He and Tomás are going to hang out at the house. Irma thinks that's probably the smart thing to do.
- The Silka ad is really gross. I'm tired of seeing it. The dandruff one is kind of gross too.
- Lola looks FABULOUS in her dress and hot pink shall. I love her hair up with the flower. E-man also approves. I see real chemistry happening. I like it. She says something about going into the party because rich folks have the best tables to bum from (I'm loosely translating based on a half-assed perusal of this thread on Wordreference.com about the word gandalla). Lola asks if la lagartija Valeria has arrived (I can't even begin to translate that word...largatija y ya. Conniving mean girl ho is my closest approximation.) No, seriously. E-man looks totally smitten. What a cutie.
- The novios and their parents gather in the living room before the grand entrance. Val is so happy, but she wishes it was the wedding night! She can't stand waiting any more. The wait has been eternal! If a judge was there she would marry him right now! I swear Cris gulped audibly.
- Mary and Irma arrive at the party. Mary looks for E-man. Irma reminds her he's probably with Lola and tells her to behave...and cover her boobs.
- Dominga is in the kitchen directing all the servers with their trays. Mel comes in and tells her he wants to watch E-man with Lola and Mary. He's thinking E-man might be playing both girls. (I FFd through that so fill in and add in the comments if I missed anything.
- The party has begun. Cris and Val arrive and in the midst of the applause and cries of "besos!" so do Aldonza and Renato. She looks very chic in her pantsuit. She hopes they haven't arrived late. Caras de stink-eye from all the party goers. Cande assures her she isn't late and welcomes. Aldonza introduces Renato. Val also welcomes her...insincerely. Cande asks about Padre J, but Aldonza tells her he's not coming. Cris begins staring (which he will do for the rest of the episode.)
- Irma comments on how nice Lola looks and Mary gets miffed and calls Lola un lombriz (a worm.) Mary gets jealous of Lola and pouts that she won't even let E-man breathe. Uriel thinks E-man looks to be in love. Mary assures her father that SHE is the one E-man likes. Like Mel, Uriel hopes E-man is not playing the two girls. Mary insists that Lola is just making E-man be with her (gawd I am slaughtering the English.) Uriel and Irma are both confused, but Mary tells them that soon things will change. Lola's reign will soon end. That doesn't sound good.
- Cande didn't realize Aldonza had a boyfriend and Sev quickly jumps in to say that they aren't sure Renato is a novio. Cris confirms that Renato is her boyfriend. E-man told him. Cande slyly tells Val that it was a wise choice (acierto) to invite Aldonza. Val and Cande excuse themselves as does Sev.
- Lola tells Aldonza she made a big splash. Lola still can't figure out why they were invited. Aldonza pours on the sarcasm and says "to make peace of course." Aldonza explains she didn't want to come, but Renato convinced her to come. Lola asks if they are novios and Aldonza reminds her that she already said they weren't. Renato says "yet" and they all share a good laugh which gets the attention of Val and Cristobal's table. (That's right folks, Aldonza doesn't give a sh....)Renato convinces Lola to be his ally in trying to win Aldonza. They all toast.
- Sev is not happy at all that Cande invited Aldonza, but Cande thinks it's the best thing she could have done. Sev doesn't understand why Aldonza's presence is such a great thing. And where the hell did that guy she came with come from. He looks like he's from good people. Cande says Aldonza just like her mother and always reaching for the high class folks in search of money. Sev thinks they should investigate Renato. Cande will take care of it. They put on their lovey dovey faces and return to the party.
- As the band begins to play "Como te voy a olvidar", Mary gives the bartender some instructions: keep serving really strong drinks to that guy over there and then after he's a little drunk, tell his date her grandmother needs to see her in the kitchen. (Lola calls Val a lagartija but I think Mary is one. See?Lagartija=conniving, mean girl ho.)
- Cris is still wondering why the hell Val and his mother invited Aldonza. Val swears his mom is just trying to make him happy! Cris warns Val that his mom or Val have plans to do anything....but Val interrupts and says it's terrible that he doesn't trust her. (No, he just knows you and he's seen at least two versions of Carrie AND read the book.)
- Simoneta arrives and Sev's eyes bug out. He tells her to leave. She protests. Aldonza and Renato watch. Cande greets Simoneta. What a surprise! Simoneta is introduced to Cris.
- Adelina is worried sick about Aldonza at the party. Padre J finally says that as soon as he eats his enfrijoladas he'll go by and check things out. Adelina thanks him and proceeds to tell him to hurry and finish eating.
- E-man and Lola dance. He's definitely feeling the effects of the drinks. Val and Mary think it's hilarious. Lola meanwhile is a little worried and tells E-man he's really drinking a lot. He convinces her to have a sip.
- Lardo and Tomás are outside Dr. Humberto's office. Good thing Tomás got a car from his cousin. Tomás is the lookout. Lardo breaks a window on the door and lets himself in.
- Val drags Cris over to Aldonza and Renato. She wants to share a toast with them. Val asks if Aldonza and Renato are novios and Aldonza says they are just friends. They toast. Cris and Aldonza's toast seems to linger and Val is not happy about it.
- Lardo trashes the doctor's office and finally finds the rental agreement. He takes the pictures as instructed.
- Sev sends Simoneta on her way. He warns her never to set foot in his house again and wonders what she was trying to pull. She thinks it would have been far more suspicious if she had turned down the invitation. She told Cande they were still trying to work out their business deal. Sev thinks that with the way things are going they may never work it out. He's regretting her being in Santa Lucia
- As Aldonza and Renato leave the dance floor, they are accosted by Sev. He wants to be introduced to the "novio" and Aldonza asks if he plans to introduce them to his novia...the one that just left...the one he met with in the hotel. Sev is cara de oh shit when Cande calls him away. It's time for the big announcement. Sev slinks away.
- While Lardo finishes up, Tomás calls him to warn him not to come out. The fuzz is making the rounds. Lardo hides under the desk.
- Cris and Val are put on public display. Speeches are made. Rings are (reluctantly) given. Cris just looks sick. Poor Aldonza looks miserable. Cris looks at Aldonza.

Take your time!
Looking forward to your retelling of this episode as always, Sara.
Cris just looked like a lamb at the slaughter through the whole episode, but I'm really having some trouble finding some pity. Grow some huevos, son.
Thanks for the early comments!
We're definitely gearing up for some big moments tomorrow, but I honestly can't wait to talk about tonight! A lot of things were going down tonight (but like Lila said, E was the best looking of the bunch!)
Wow, that was just the engagement party. The HUGE portrait of the ''happy'' couple...very subtle.
Geez..Did Val really not notice Cris's sad puppydog eyes as he stared ALL NIGHT at Aldonza ? Yes, Cris looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Despierta, Cris. you look like you are sleepwalking..cue Santo and Johnny.
The advances for tomorrow night looked scary. Thank goodness Renato is there with AL, and PadreTio is on the way..if he finished dinner.
I can't wait to hear what tofie has to say about Cris.
Cris really did look miserable. Aldonza managed to look pretty non-chalant until the very end.
I agree that just hanging out in a new place, reading and going on walks, sounds plenty relaxing to me.
I like "qué flojera!" "qué chequera!" There's nothing like a wad of cash to motivate a total layabout.
I did not like Simoneta's dress. Too covered up for my taste. I mean, if you're going to be someone's mistress, and show up at his son's engagement party, at least try to look hot. Isn't that in the handbook or something?
Let's face it. Mari's dress was just ugly. And her hair band was ridiculous and pointless. Of the younger set, my vote for best-dressed goes to Aldonza, with Lola as runner-up. I didn't like Val's dress either, for those keeping score at home.
The minute Candela got a look at Cris' face looking at Aldonza she should have known this was a terrible idea...but, nooooo...she keeps patting herself on the back for her brilliance. Pfft!
"No, he just knows you and he's seen at least two versions of Carrie AND read the book." Ha!
Tackiest moment of the night--Val insisting that Aldonza and Renato toast with her and Cris and then making the toast herself, to the novios "which would mean us!"
ITA, Sara. Cris looked miserable.
Looks like Adelina is rethinking her stance toward Joaquin?
Look! Look! Is that an anvil over Simoneta’s head?
Lola looked gorgeous tonight. Ab Fab.
Mary’s horrendous dress looked like an old long line bra from the 1960s.
Sara – my CCs say lagarjita which makes no sense to me. My dictionary says “wall lizard” (valeria?) and push-ups. Qué????? And I have seen it in the CCs over quite a few episodes. Might be slang?
Why am I surprised that Lardo is idiot enough to trash the doc’s office and make it oh-so-obvious someone was in there raiding it? Imbécil.
When Candy asked Sim what she ''was doing,'' it's good that she didn't say ''your husband.''
I agree that AL and Lola both bloomed great. I especially loved Al's white strapless top and black pants...very chic. I also agree that neither Vile nor Mary got it right. Vile looked matronly in that dress..high neckline..long sleeved. As for Mary, she was a little lost without that pony tail to swing. She had to resort to playing with her hair to take our minds off the number 40.
So many things that I must get out before I go to bed:
1) SO MAD AT MARY!!! This might just be a stupid prank, but in the real world I would be PISSED if someone deliberately set out to get me drunk in front of my boss and half the damn town. How is this supposed to be working in her favor anyway? It just makes E look like an ass! If this is to make Lola storm off so she can pretend E showed her a real good time in the stables, I will pull that scrap up over her head and send her wandering through the town square in her underwear!
2) Agreed, Aldonza looked tres elegant in her pants suit. Val looked...eh. Lola looked great! Mary looked like she was trying, which she was. I agree that the hairband was stupid and pointless. I think it's there to keep with the whole "she's young!" thing.
Anyway, Mary is delusional and I hope E falls HARD for Lola, but I have a feeling it won't be until after he's been a ridiculous ass and also after he's had a taste of Mary (warning, it's weak, yet bitter).
3) Best moment: when Aldonza came back with her novia line. BRILLIANT!!!
4) If the surprise is that there's a judge waiting to marry Cris and Val, I might puke for him.
Hellashelle - I almost titled this "Mary shows her ass" because that's what pissed me off most tonight. She's just a lagartija.
Did Cris order a double shot of tequila for the lady or himself because he sure looked like he needed one. (Or maybe was he referring to himself as a lady, step up from the little girl comment earlier :) )
I missed the stink eye looks, but boy I wonder what people will say when Cris does leave Val for Aldonza. ("Can you believe it?! She was at their engagement party for God's sake! Descarada!") Same question for Adelina, who is def rethinking Joaquin.
Speaking of which, I wasn't on the patio for the episode where Joaquin first comes to help Aldonza with the house, so maybe you all discussed this: How old is he supposed to look? Because when he was hugging Aldonza that day, I was like "man, if I didn't know he was supposed to be old enough to be a her father, I would think they could be dating." Is that just me?
Aldonza did a great job being unaffected all night. I wish Renato would help her keep it together for the rest of the party.
Nightynight, Sara...sending good vibrations for a good sleep)))))))))
Yes to whoever questioned the robbery angle. When Sev and Lardo were talking, I thought the whole point was to get in get out, without anyone being the wiser.
From the advances, it looks as if Cris is going to make a move on AL at his engagement party. Yikes This guy should have put on his big boy pants and stopped these wedding plans as soon as he realized that he was still in love with AL. He is so frustratingly passive.
Lol, Susanlynn, Joaquin doesn't look anything near the age he's supposed to be.
I think that guy they showed was the guy Sev spoke to earlier about the rental contract? If he's a crooked judge, this whole TN's gonna get reeeeeally frustrating for the good guys.
I'm with you Susanlynn, though I'm sure it's too much to ask. I'll settle for anyone seeing it really, so that someone can back her up when s*** starts coming to light. And Renato's a good choice; he's smart enough to put this with future cues and come up with something close to the truth and he's not in town, so Sev doesn't own him.
PS: can't Cande pull her hair into some other tight, repressed style for big events?
I like Aldonza and Renato's chemistry and I'm glad she didn't try to pass him off as a boyfriend. For all the good THAT did in front of the gossips.
As for Candy's hairdo..or don't...the one thing that she has completely under her control is her hair. I think that she is a little OCD about it.
My theory is that Candela had a thing for Padre J and he never ever thought of her in that way, so she moved on to Sev but never got over the good father, well, sucks to be her!
Thanks though for getting a big juicy recap for us. The comments are firing off so fast--and it's only 10:30 PM (PST).
I agree with two important points: yes the theme song is terrific, the artist has a mature, delicious voice and I get shivers listening to it every time.
Also ITA those pharmacy-product commercials are pretty gross. Athletes foot, achey joints, and I don't even want to know what's going on in that cartoon lady's "intimate zone".
Anyway, The Party. It was pretty awkward. And all the hosts couples and guests of honor were dressed in black. I was stunned when Ald blurted out to Sev "is that your girlfriend we just saw leaving?" It looked like she hadn't meant to say it, but it just came out. Oh noo.....
J in Oregon
Cris DID look sick, right from the time mommy dearest gave him the ring. Who said it yesterday, Cris is being kind of wimpy? I'll give him a little slack. He spent most of his life in Spain and didn't know what a control freak his mom was, has NO idea the demon his dad is or that they would willingly thread him up, pull his strings and be content to see him life his life as a puppet. He is truly overwhelmed by the force of their malignant manipulation, thus his constantly dazed look. At times Cris looked all of 5 years old, like he did after Sev smacked him that time.
Well. I'll be back later. Sara. Thank you for this sparkling recap, honey, and you get some rest, you hear?
"Cris looks like he's going to puke"
You guys have come up with some great comments, love the frivolity!
Cutest scene was Adelina & PJ as she frets and he gulps.
I liked, of course, Aldonza's retort to Severiano's novio inquiry, the icy delivery and visibly shaken once he walked away. Well done. Dammit though, Cande arrives a millisecond late.
Adelina - here's a straw, I pureed your dinner, now git
Mari - ace bandage & a ribbon
Cris - duh, get off the tracks, there's a train
Emmanuel - gimme that beer bong
Abelardo - don't look at me, the cleaning lady didn't show
Simoneta - I'm here already so "why don't we get drunk and screw"
Cande - can I throw a party or what? The night's half over and not one turd in the punch bowl.
Aldonza - and that was a stiletto, dickhead
This was simply superb. I loved all your links (the casserole looks yummy)and the evident time and care you took to craft this.
I had to pare down my list of favorites but "Adelina's eyes are google as she watches Joaquin install the new locks", "Like a good "other woman" Simoneta picks out a red dress to wear", "Humberto(Hum) kvetches about his cravat", "Conniving mean girl ho is my closest approximation" and "I swear Cris gulped audibly" had to be included.
My eyes filled up seeing the palpable pain of both Cris and Aldonza during the ring presentation debacle. While I totally agree with your marvelous "Cris just looked like a lamb at the slaughter...Grow some huevos, son", I do believe he is continuing with the farce of marrying Val out of a misguided sense of responsibility. And in fairness, Aldonza has given him absolutely no encouragement.
"Sev thinks they should investigate Renato. Cande will take care of it". Sorry, I have to get on my I hate Cande high horse. Cruel, vengeful, the list goes on and on. I equate her as equal to Sev on the evil scale. Poor Cris, to have two such despicable parents.
What a cruel prank Mary pulled on Em. It would have been great to see the poor guy break loose and have fun (heaven knows he deserves it), but it would have been nice to see it occur of his own volition.
I guess it would be too much to ask for to have Lardo get caught?
Loved how Humberto moved away from Pru on the stage of shame to stand by Valeria. Happy couple? Think not.
So many excellent comments, I'd love to note them all but doris's
"Mary’s horrendous dress looked like an old long line bra from the 1960s", susanlynn's "I guess we were spoiled by that style maven Roberta who knew how to dress like a fallen woman...red satin dresses, twirly skirts , and leopard belts" and Lila's "Her Dad was trying to tell her what the old folks used to say "If it's not for sale, take the sign out of the window!". These, and many others had me smiling and nodding in vigorous agreement.
Thank you Sara!!!
Diana
This was no "quick job"! This recap was amazing. Actually liked the bullet point style. You hit this out of the park. And yes, I'll go with you on that translation.
I thought it rather appropo that Val and Cande wore black...yeah it's supposed to be evening elegant, but I think in this case, it was like standing up to Cris' funeral. That poor boy was soooo obviously not into the whole thing. I can understand Val not caring a flying fig how he feels as long as she is the one roping him in, but how any mother can watch her son so miserable and unhappy and not care all so someone RELATED to a woman you hated can be taken out of an equation, just can't. Cande is not getting any votes from me for mother of the year.
Sev - BUSTED. But now that makes me worried for our fetching couple. (Sorry--I know it's Allie and Cris for the win, but she and Renato look amazing together. )
Ok--what I said about Mari maybe for Renato. That would now be a big NO! What a beyotch. Honestly Irma or Uriel need to reassess their parenting skills.
Adelina watching Jaoquin was all kinds of funny. Yeah, remembering she just admires him to the Padre. Yeah, I could admire that view too if you know what I mean. That wasn't the look of someone who was just feeling friendly.
Someone mentioned yesterday that Renato's dad may head to town and set up a practice. If Hum had a former bad reputation, wonder if there's a connection between the two (like the other Doc knows him?). Since we may be seeing R's mom not last long, maybe the Doc becomes a love interest for someone. Hey--I vote Cande. I want to see her get hot over someone and let down that hair.
Daisynjay
I haven't watched this episode but great recap.
Daisynjay - I agree, Cris totally looked like he was at his own funeral. The funniest image of the night to me was him standing on that stage with his mom and Val physically holding him in place. He's got nowhere to run to baby, nowhere to hide!
On second thought, I hope he does go for Cande. I want to see how she handles herself feeling anything again and being tempted by an affair.
I missed the first 15 or 20 minutes, so I really appreciate having that filled in for me.
If Renato's old man does move to town and strikes up a relationship with Cande, and she starts to get that tingly feeling, I wonder if she will let her hair down (literally and figuratively)?
Aldonza conducts herself with such maturity and presence. Cris is about as useful to Val as a blow up sex toy.
In the avances, it looks like Renato comes to Aldonza's defense. Hope he does enough damage to Sev so that the effect is memorable and lasing.
David
Eli-I love your wicked humor "kick kittens and set orphans on fire." It is always a delight when you spend some time with us on the patio. Let me buy you a Midori.
Kat-I wonder about the braids, too. It looks like a lot of work. Ugh. I'll stick with my short 'do. And hell yes Roberta knew how to floozy. No one does it better.
J in O-You know my name and that's enough for me. I don't care if is "S" or "s". :-) I screw up names all the time and I feel terrible about it, so I understand where you are coming from.
ruby-Slimy skank works so much better! And it's less to type!
daisynjay-AMEN. How the hell did Uriel and Irma end up with such little A-holes? They seem like perfectly nice people...but when you treat your children like speshul little snowflaykes that can do no wrong, there are consequences (yeah...fire up your nerfazo launchers. I know that's never a popular opinion.)
Diana-I always enjoy your comments. I can't cut Cris any slack though...and especially not with the argument that Aldonza hasn't given him any encouragement. IMO that shouldn't matter at all. Just the fact that he feels something for her should be a big read flag NOT to marry Vile Val...but he seems perfectly willing to be led to the slaughter. I mean altar.
Lila-FUGLY is the perfect word for that dress and let me echo everyone's mirth at "If it's not for sale take the sign out of the window."
Did I get everybody? I'm having to scroll up and down...hang on...
Hilarious!
TOFIE--My gawd how can I forget you and your lists?! I should be flogged and forced to watch TSTSNBN again...
Also, you are totally right that Aldonza and Renato need to sort of stop the novios charade. That's how noble guys go crazy evil in these shows!
I just hate it when an otherwise perfect girl or guy, not the intended, end up a nut or dead or banished. I don't care what happens to Val but Renato seems much better suited for Aldonza than Cris.
Lila..I liked your saying. It was new to me, but true to me and put me in mind of another old saying : ''Why buy the cow when you are getting the milk for free?'' Chris...hello..., you do not have to buy this cow. Just saying'.
I like Renato , too, and I am a believer in marrying someone who is also your best friend. However, Chris is the guy standing next to Aldie in that gorgeous RED dress by the waterfall in the last scene of the opening. I rest my case. I hope that Rennie does not get hurt and does not go crazy with desire.
P.s. I really hate the way that Vile is ALWAYS grabbing Chris by the back of his head and pulling his face down to hers....so annoying. How can Chris keep letting her do this ?
I was pleasantly surprised to see Aldonza in pants and not a sexy evening dress. I didn't want Sev or anyone to have the opportunity to call her names because of her clothing.
Mary is poorly cast. She looks waaaay older than early 20s.
Please, please I hope they don't pull the TN cliche and have Mary pull the old pretend to have slept with drunk Emanuel and Lola catch them.
I think Cristobal is acting like such a wimp, I see no appeal in him. Even if he thinks that Aldonza isn't into him anymore, he shouldn't agree to marry Val just because he has no one else.
tofie- I have to agree with you though. Despite what we are shown in the opening credits, Renato and Aldonza seem to be better for each other. Yeah, there is chemistry with Cris....but Aldonza and Renato work together as a team to actually get stuff done.
cathyx-Hulu+ is totally worth it! Especially on those days were there are DVR conflicts!! I just wish Telemundo would get on board.
"Ironically, she's very Roberta-like in that way."
BINGO!
I just want to see if Vile shoots herself in the foot BEFORE or AFTER Cris says "I do."
We've seen hints of it. I am hopeful.
"I really appreciate character growth in a TN..."
Me too! It keeps things interesting! It also makes me feel like they are putting more thought into the storylines/script.
"Besides, we're only on cap 33, plenty of show left to go."
And I'm glad!
But have to say, watching Cris pout like a kid who's lollipop was taken away was a little disappointing. I was waiting for him to come over and ask Allie to dance just to stick it to his future wife and mother. But he didn't and that let me down a bit. I wanted to see a little fire not total resignation.
If we do get Renato to be the one to bring life back to Allie and love her at least for awhile, I'm all for it even if unfortunately something has to happen to him down the road. (Lord I'm getting that awful flashback to that awful death of Patricio in Refugio--still think he was better than Rodrigo for the win. So there).
I DO NOT want that vital, beautiful young woman either pining for a guy that doesn't have the you know what's at this moment to fight for her or to deprive herself of ever being loved because of that scum bucket Sev. That makes him win for a good chunk of this TN then and that infuriates me.
Daisynjay
Daisynjay
Word to the nth power! Cris is being such a ineffectual pouter right now. Allie doesn't need that.
I was so hopeful when Cris asked E-man to watch out for her.
I don't think I have the thinking capacity for TNs lol.
So you think you lost your girl forever, than just leave like you wanted to or tell your mother and future ball and chain "Thanks but no Thanks". Take E-Man on a road trip and go have some fun.
By then Sev might have dug his own grave with all his lies unraveling, Cande might have been trying out a new due and Val is knocked up (poor child) by Lardo. Unfortunately, I still have a sick feeling that last part is going to happen anyway. BLECH.
Daisynjay
I , too, think that Chris is a dunce continuing with wedding plans when he clearly still has it bad for AL. However, I am willing to figure his look of constant despair because he has no idea why AL has distanced herself from him. What will his reaction be when he finds out ? When will he find out, and how will he find out ? I think that the only people who know what Sev did are AL and Tia, but Hum must suspect something after AL stabbed Sev in Hum's waiting room . Let's hope that Joaquin is also suspicious after seeing AL wielding that ax.
The poor guy is "settling" because he things Allie is lost to him forever.
I watch a lot of the murder shows, on Investigation ID and I'm never surprised when someone claims that they had no idea their spouse was a serial rapist or a murderer- personally I think you might have a little bit of a clue and just refuse to allow your brain to go there, and I think that's whats going on with Chris. He has his doubts about Val but she was the only familiar thing in Spain and I'm sure he has sincere affection for her, the only major problem is that she's a giant harpy and he does not love her.
Thanks Sara---Go to bed early tonight. Drink some strong coffee and wear earphones to shield you from the noise outside and you will be as good as new manana.
I did like your line that they Sev
y Cande put on their lovey dovey faces and returned to the party.
Lovey dovey faces? LOL
A lot of comments on who looked good and who didn't. Ok, here's my take---Lola looked fantastic. I wanted to take her to the party myself. Mary's dress didn't look good at all but the upper view that she had on display, well I could live with that. No complaints there. The hair band was not pretty and I usually like hair bands but didn't like this one at all. I thought that Val looked young and beautiful in her tight body hugging dress. I liked her hair up as well. Aldonza looked very nice but I would have liked to have seen a little more color in her outfit. I thought that it was a little drab. Ali is so beautiful I would have liked to have seen her stand out more. You know, like something that really catches the eyes.

I'm late today---Wow! 92 comments already. Well my two cents for what it's worth.

We're in a small garden home and our neighbor is also in a garden home. Our patios are not that big. How long can it take. I really hope they aren't here tomorrow.
Cathyx - Diego de Erice was so good as Leonardo! I'm honestly having a hard time buying him as Tomás.
Sara- I have serious sleep issues and have been taking melatonin this week and it's been working wonders!
The advances looks so good. Sever gets the old one two punch---I can't wait.
E-man is getting smashed. I think that if Lola tells him no more alcohol because he is starting to embarrass her, I think that he would stop drinking. He's a good guy. I want to believe in him.
I hate it when a marriage goes through although one really doesn't want it. Then the couple live in misery until a divorce and true love finally becomes reality the second time around. Why not make it right the first time? Don't marry Val Cris!

I'm not loving what comes off as a lack of maturity in him. I don't like that he seems to be going through with this because of a kind of misguided stubbornness--he got tired of being told that he was *going to* call of or delay the wedding, so he swore up and down that that wouldn't happen and now it feels like he's joylessly keeping his word. I don't like that once again last night he let his "bro" down and let him stumble around drunkenly on the dance floor instead of going over to make sure he was ok since this is NOT typical behavior...plus there was the whole thumbs up between Mari and Val that could not have been more obvious. I at least don't totally hate him, but right now he's not my first choice of galan. And Renato is only my second choice. My first choice is "stay single until you work through your trauma."
I wish it wasn't a foregone conclusion that Aldonza and Cris are supposed to end up together because if I didn't know that, I'd be seriously wondering if she's going to end up with Renato or if this is just one of those stories where that's not the point.

Aldonza's plans have to be that she gets the house and property back, even so far as to bankrupt Sev. That's my guess, anyway.
Most of us haven't seen it and NONE of us want to know anything.

With the rape by the "father in law" being something we in viewerville know and feel so deeply about, they could at least give us a solid, strong galan with character and behavior that make us believe in Aldonza's overpowering love for him. So THE KISS 2.0 is supposed to change el rumbo de las historia, it'd had better be one toe-curling, consciousness-altering smakeroo, I tell you what!
We shall see!
I love everyone's typos, but Susanlynn has some of the best. :)
