La Sombra del Pasado #37 - Wed 4/8 -It's raining men. Hallelujah.

So, what's it gonna be, Cande?  Did you love him, or didn't you?  'Cause Sev thinks if you really did love him, you would have forgiven him.  "Ha!  Like you would have forgiven me if I'd cheated."  Cande doesn't accept Sev's "well, men are different" excuse.  To her it's the same.  She went all in when she married him and she trusted him to live up to his end of the "marriage" bargain, but instead he's turned her life into a living hell.  "Hell looks pretty comfy from here.  If you wanted to, you could have left.  Maybe you're still feeling some of that love you said you used to have."  Puh-leeze!  Cande says it's "pura conveniencia" (purely convenience, interest, or benefit).

Renato helps Aldonza walk off her anger.  I hope she changed shoes.  Just saying.  He's never seen such a scene in his life.  "Well, that's Santa Lucia for you."  Aldonza still can't understand how the hell a feud between families could lead to what just happened in the church.  "They can't even let my mother rest in peace!"  But she's not leaving again…never.  And she's going ahead with her plans.  Renato is concerned about how violent things can get, but he's still in.  After getting a little frisky with her hand, he says they both need to go rest, because it's been a long day and they need to discuss the next steps for Mis Planes.  The blow to Sev needs to be delivered as soon as Aldonza is moved into El Santuario.

Before Mari can hightail (heh!) it to her room, Ulises would like a word.   He wants to know what she talked about with Emmanuel.  He knows they were arguing and he's not buying her lies that things are cool and they're just taking "a break."  He wants to have Sev fire Emmanuel.  Mari, still lying, at least tells a more noble lie and says the relationship just happened so fast and everyone's been coming down on Emmanuel and so it was HER decision to take a break and let things cool down.  Em has been a total gentleman.  Uriel backs down.

Dominga and Melesio are worried about Lola.  She's been quiet a whole three minutes.  She's mopey about Emmanuel, thinking he's dating Mari now.  Dominga would like Lola to find some other guy to crush on.  Melesio says she doesn't even have to look--the guy who's worth it will come looking for her.  Lola changes the subject to Doña BSCande.  I cackle gleefully as Dominga says she's gonna let her have it for her behavior in church!  Yeah, you go, Dominga!  Hell no, she won't stay out of it!  She may be the boss in her own house, but not in God's house.

Aldonza finally makes it home to her very worried aunt.  Adelina wants to have a talk--not about what happened, but about why Aldonza didn't tell her what was going on with Cristobal.  "Because it wasn't important."  Channeling tofie, Adelina says, "How can you call it unimportant that the only man who's ever meant something in your life tells you that he still loves you?  That's not important?  Puh-leeze!"  Aldonza says she never expected to run into him again and she thought they had both gotten over each other.  And she doesn't feel bad because of their feelings, but she does feel bad about him breaking it off with Valeria.  "It's as if I was reliving what happened with my mother.  You know, that feeling of guilt.  I'm sure that if I hadn't gone to the convent and I'd been with my mother when she found out she had cancer, things would have turned out differently."  Adelina says there's nothing Aldonza could have done.  Roberta made her decision.  As did Val, "And at least in this case, no paso de mayores" (it wasn't worse).  Aldonza imagines that poor Val must have felt so desperate, and even though she knows she's not responsible, she feels like she pushed her to it.  "I swear, I don't want to hurt Valeria, even though she was going to marry Cristobal and I was going to lose him forever."  Aldonza and Adelina cry together.  I have to admit that I did not see it coming that Aldonza would make that connection between the two suicides.  And I'm sure Val didn't make the connection either.

Speaking of accidentally brilliant manipulators…Emmanuel comes to visit and she tells Pru to let him in.  So she can tell him his friend is a fiancé-stealing skank.  And beg him to get Cristobal to come visit her.  With much whining and touching.  Come on, Em, are you going to get played by EVERY woman in town under the age of 30?

Renato gets a call that something happened, and though we don't hear the answer to "But is she ok?" he says he's on his way back right now.

Aldonza gets a message from a waiter that Renato had an emergency and had to leave.  He packed everything and left early.  She pulls out her cell phone (ding, ding, ding!) and calls him.  He's in the hospital.  His mom's not doing well.  OMG, show!  Does Aldonza have to relive every single trauma?!  Can't the poor girl catch a break for an episode or two?

Joaquin remembers explaining to Adelina that his wife is a jealous cow and there's no point talking to her when she's pissed.  Said jealous cow comes home to complain about him working for free.  He tells her that they're pretty much done with the house, but that doesn't mean he's going to abandon them out there alone.  Flavia is, of course, furious, because Joaquin, of course, is really just using that as a pretense for the hot and heavy affair that he's surely having with Adelina.  And she doesn't buy all that crap about how his son and Flavia are the most important people in the world to him.  Because if they were, he'd spend more time at home.  Joaquin talks her down and says he will be spending more time at home, but she needs to make an effort and quit thinking stupid things.  They can't let this ridiculousness upset their domestic tranquility.  Flavia can't resist a parting "Well, show me!"  Oh, yeah, Flavia, constant suspicion, jealousy, and badgering.  That's the way to keep  a man.  And if that doesn't work, I've got an inbox full of spam testimonials to send your way.

Aldonza hopes Renato's mom will be ok.  He says they don't know what it is--just headaches, and since she just put up with them and didn't say anything, they didn't know how frequently she was having them.  They kept telling her to go see a neurologist, but "you know how moms are.  She never paid attention!"  (Nicely played, show.)  Aldonza tells him everything will be fine.  She'll go get a bus ticket to be with him.  He tells her not to, she's got enough to worry about.  "Yes, but none of it's urgent."  She insists on going and gets him to give her the name of the hospital.

Irma and Adelina talk Cande and Lola can't resist joining in, saying that lady's always been a "mustia" (shriveled-up old bat?) "And I should know, I live with her!"  Irma scolds Lola.  Lola insists she speaks only truth.  Cande is a "culebra ponzoñosa" (a venemous snake).  Even the stuffed paisley dachshund with the pink ribbon agrees.  Irma says something must have set her off…it must have been something serious.  Adelina doesn't care.  Her niece didn't deserve that.  Irma agrees.  Adelina gets the call from Aldonza…"I was just thinking about you."  Aldonza jokes that "nos telepateamos" (we're telepathic).  She's calling to say that she's going to the DF because Renato's mom is sick and he's anxious about it.  Well, Adelina won't let her go alone.  "No, you stay here and get the house ready so we can move in."  Adelina fusses about how she doesn't want Aldonza in the big, bad city alone.  Lola butts in to say she'll go with Aldonza, if Irma will let her.  She begs Irma, saying the last time her BFF went to the DF alone, she didn't come back until just now!  She won't let her do that again.  Irma can't help agreeing, as long as Lola makes up the time later, plus extra.  Of course Lola agrees.  This satisfies Adelina's need to not have Aldonza left alone and Aldonza's need to have the house finished before Joaquin needs to go back to his regular job (whatever that is).  But Aldonza still hesitates, because she's in a hurry.  Well, so is Lola--to get the heck out of the Gossip Capital of Mexico for a while.  They'll meet at the bus terminal in an hour.  Annnnnnd she's off.  Adelina thanks Irma for giving Lola the time off.

Emmanuel approaches a moping Cris and asks how he's doing.  Like the good friend he is.  And tells him that Valeria is depressed.  Like the nice, but too easily manipulated guy he is.  Cris has made up his mind, he's not getting back together with Val.  Well, ok, but Emmanuel thinks he needs to talk to her and end it on good terms.  Like that's possible.  He thinks Cris should go over anyway, even though Humberto told him to stay away.  Now, finally, Cris asks about Em's women problems.  Emmanuel doesn't know how he got himself into this mess or how he's going to get himself out of it.  He explains to Cris how it's probably going to cost him his job, since he told Mari to take a hike.  Cris offers to step in , but Emmanuel tells him to take care of his own drama.

Lola's packed and ready.  Dominga punts to Melesio.  Melesio succumbs to the combination of whining, ready answers (that they're taking a bus and will stay at Aldonza's apartment), Lola's need for a change of scenery, her assertion that she packed before asking because she knew they'd say yes, and probably his own exasperation and need for a little peace and quiet after ALL the drama lately.  He warns her that they'd better behave.  He'll take her to the bus station and give her some money.  Lola runs off to tell the taxi to wait.  Dominga isn't sure they're doing the right thing, but Mel says Lola's a grown woman and they keep treating her like a child.  They need to let her open her wings and fly.  Dominga says the change of scenery will do Lola some good.

Valeria is tired of being in bed and comes downstairs to ask Pru to let Cris in, if he shows up.  And she's sure he will show up because she asked Emmanuel to help her.  She also wants to be left alone with Cris.  Just to talk.  Like two civilized people.  Well, that would take a third person in the room, at the very least.  Well, Pru agrees to do it and not tell Humberto.

Lola and Mel get to the bus depot and Mel tells them to call when they get there.  He tries to pay for the bus ticket and has to settle for giving Lola money for food and a blessing.

Adelina visits Padre J's office.  She tells him about Aldonza going to Mexico.  She doesn't know what's wrong with Renato's mother.  Padre J likes that she went, since Renato's done a lot for her lately.  He hopes this time out of town will help get Cris out of her head and her heart.  Padre, are you familiar with the rites of exorcism, 'cause I don't think a trip to the DF is gonna do the trick.  Adelina is feeling like the more they keep thinking that Cris and Aldonza shouldn't be together, the more life throws them together.  They both agree that they'll be praying for Renato's mother.

She's in a hospital bed, but they don't have the test results yet.  Renato is telling her that he's sure everything is going to be fine.  "Ok.  But if it's not, I want you to know I'm happy you turned out so well.  You're a man in every sense of the word, and I'm really proud of you.  And soon you'll find a woman who will make you happy.  Or may be you found her already?"  Renato says she may be right.  She reminds him the paths of the heart are uncertain.  Aw, crap, she's totally going to die.  And where the hell is his dad?

On the bus, Lola and Aldonza talk about Renato's mom.  And then Cande.  Aldonza's confused that she would make a scene like that after she supposedly invited her to the engagement party so they could make peace.  But, whatever.  She's not going to spend her life crying about it.  And she's never going to show it when they hurt her.  Lola says Cris doesn't seem to care and he luuuuuurves her.  "What good is that.  The more he loves me, the more his dear saintly mother hates me."  Lola brings up how jealous Val must be now, and Aldonza laughs, forgetting her earlier self-imposed guilt trip.

Renato says his mom will get better and everything will be fine.  "We don't know that, but I do know that one way or another, you're going to be happy.  Because you have a big heart.  I have a son that's worth a family of 20.  You've given me all the happinesses a mother could ask for. "  Renato says he was also a bad kid, he didn't listen, he broke windows, he was a rebel.  Mami calls him a naughty angel.

Aldonza and Lola move on to talking about the Mari-Emmanuel scene at the party. Yeah, Aldonza saw.  "But if he gets tired of Mari and realizes you're the one he really wants, would you take him back?"  Lola doesn't think so.  She can't wait around for him.  She's given up on him and never wants to hear about him again.

The extended goodbye scene continues.  I'm sad, y'all.  I want some doctor to come in and announce that she needs some ridiculously simple surgery to fix whatever the problem is and all this has been unnecessary.  She tells him he's been a great son and she loves him a bunch.  Renato loves her too, with all his heart.  He urges her to sleep and he'll be there, watching over her.  "I love you."  "I love you more."

Emmanuel shows off Soletario's smooth moves for Severiano and some guy named Jacinto.  I have no idea where he came from, but I guess we needed some new faces?  Jacinto and Sev talk about how Emmanuel seems born for the saddle.  His skill with horses is equal only to his lack of luck with women.  No horse can resist him.  Mari is also there, looking on and gloating.  Lemme paint the scene.  She's wearing a long-sleeved, button up shirt in some sort of drapey fabric, that's only buttoned right at her boobs, and shorts that are rolled up to about a 2-inch inseam.  She goes over to greet Severiano, and I swear it looked like he kissed her on the mouth.  He DEFINITELY leaned back to check out her ass.  And the fact that the two actors are married to each other did NOT make that look any less skeevy.  Am I supposed to believe that Sev has some kind of radar that enables him to only ogle women like this when nobody's looking?  Mari's still trying to talk to Emmanuel.  Severiano summons Jacinto so she can talk to him alone.  But Emmanuel doesn't want to talk.  Mari says she doesn't want to force anything.  "Oh, now you tell me."  He thinks she's showing off her "cinismo" (shamelessness).  Mari explains that she told her dad they broke up and asked him not to get Emmanuel fired.  She just came there to say she wouldn't bother him again.  Emmanuel thanks her sincerely.  And asks if they'll still be friends.  Um…why?  Mari, of course, agrees.

Lola and Aldonza get to the hospital, dragging their suitcases, and just as the doors start to close a *ahem* handsome young man in a suit comes barreling down the hallway begging them to wait, runs directly into the elevator and practically pins Lola to the wall.  She's not complaining.  I'm not complaining.  They're having a moment.  I'm having a moment.  Mr. 5ft is cracking me up, asking if men are just falling form heaven.  Um, I kinda think so.  Once they exit the elevator, he apologizes profusely, but hey, it could happen to anyone, and ten apologies is a little excessive.  He's not following them, he's a friend of Renato's.  Ohhhhh, this is the guy from the day Aldonza registered for school, right?  Patricio?  Aldonza goes on ahead to greet Renato.  His dad is in with the neurologist and they haven't told him what's up yet.  Two doctors come running past Ren and Aldonza and his dad blocks him from going into the room…or after the hospital bed as they wheel his mother away.  He assures Renato that his mom is in the best possible hands, but she just fell into a coma.

And now, the confrontation we've all been waiting for.  I'll spare myself the time to analyze and give it to you con todos sus letras…

Cande: Dominga, serve me a tea.  My head is going to explode.
Dominga: Maybe that's from the shame that's looking for a way out.
C: What are you talking about?
D: Seriously?  You know exactly what I'm talking about.  How did you dare do something so…stupid…in the middle of the church!
C: Don't start, Dominga!
D: Oh, I'm starting!
C: I'm giving you an order!
D: Yes, I know you're the boss around here, but not in God's house!  There you're the same as me and the same as any of the faithful, and what you did, Candela--
C: What I did isn't any of your business.
D: Oh, yes it is, because you didn't just offend Aldonza Alcocer, but all the believers in the church, and I'm a believer in the church!  You offended Padre Jeronimo and God himself!
C: Don't exaggerate.
D: Listen up, Candela.  God's house is not for you to be resolving your personal conflicts.
C: You're going too far, Dominga.
D: Lots of donations, lots of prayers…but when it comes to actions, that's when someone shows the kind of Christian they are.  And if you want to fire me for saying this to you, then let me know and I'll pack my bags.

Melesio has been in a panic, trying to get Dominga to shut up without actually saying or doing anything by waving his hand around and gaping.  How are those Jedi powers working out for you, Don Mele?  Candy waits a beat and then tells Dominga to bring the tea up when it's ready.  She's not going to keep listening to "tonterias" (stupidity).  Sev has been eavesdropping and comes in when Cande leaves.  Melesio is already begging for their jobs, but Sev says he'd rather give Dominga a bonus than fire her.  "It's about time somebody put Candela's feet on the ground.  Congratulations, Dominga.  I'd applaud you if I could.  Would you bring me a tea, too?"  Dominga's in shock.  I would have liked it better if Sev didn't also need someone to deliver a verbal, physical, spiritual, and/or nuclear smackdown to him as well.

Renato's dad explains that she's going into emergency surgery to repair an aneurism.  As soon as he knows more, he'll let Renato know.  And he goes off, presumably to go help.  Or stalk the doctors.  Aldonza tells Renato to be calm and trust his dad.  They have to be positive.  Yeah, that's…not going to work.

Cris shows up to see Valeria and Pru makes herself scarce.  Val has returned to bed.  She pretends to be surprised to see him and says she's ok.  "You probably think I was being stupid and I just did it to blackmail you, but I swear, I felt so bad.  I really did want to die.  I don't know what I'm going to do without you?  How can I go on living when you're everything to me?"  Cris tells her that she's giving him way too much credit and she'll feel better with time.  "You'll realize I'm not worth dying over."  Val says he'll always be important to her and, like she said on the phone, she loves him and she'll always love him.  She pulls him in for a hug…and then tries to get a little sexual healing, if the sexy sax music is any indication.

Tomorrow: We'll find out if they done the deed, I would assume.  Lots of people are plotting various things.  The announcer warns of "the worst revenge."

Once again, a packed episode.

And that final scene cements my belief that Val really needs lots of alone time with Cris to keep him in line. Coming back to SL must have disrupted his dosing schedule.

Ha! Severiano is the devil himself but he made me laugh at the joke at his own expense, "If I could, I would applaud you," he said to Dominga. Good one, Seve!

"If I could, I would applaud you" Haha

It wouldn't make his character any less loathsome or reprehensible, but I feel like I could stomach Sev's presence better if everyone on the show including him made cheesy one-arm jokes all the time.

"... I've got an inbox full of spam testimonials to send your way."

Probably my favorite line.

Mr Not So Awesome decided he wanted to watch his recording of iZombie so I missed the first 30ish minutes. Your recap was a life saver.

I'm on the Patricio/Lola ship. I've wanted to see that actor again since LFDD. If he's crushing on Lola that might mean I can see more of him.

But how are all these characters going to fit into the story if they aren't in Santa Lucia? Maybe Aldonza's melon empire will require many tips to the DF.

Forgot to subscribe! It makes me comment. To do that.

" And if that doesn't work, I've got an inbox full of spam testimonials to send your way. "

Yep, my favorite too. That woman should stop whining and thank her lucky stars at the guy she landed.

Boy there was some major jawing going on last night. This recap was fantastic Kat. Bet you were happy with some of the scenes you got.

And YES, Sev did smooch Val. I swear he did and was so checking her out, which I don't think she minded a bit. That gave me a moment of pause. She's still a little manipulating beyotch. Period.

Oh, and another cute newbie. Forgot he was the guy from a previous time. But I was "Oh yeah, Lola, go for it girl, What happens in Mexico can stay in Mexico". But then I thought of poor E-Man left in the clutches of Mari and I felt bad. Someone in the writing room had to purposefully think "let's kill the women of viewerville with an overabundance of cute, NICE guys and make them sweat it out what happens to them". Success!!

A drank a toast to Dominga with the last of my wine last night, and the look on their faces when Sev made his comments...priceless. Cande couldn't afford to lose the only person she can confide in, and I think it did unnerve her to have the woman who is like a mother tell her how badly she behaved.

Yeah, so uh, that spine we were all talking about on Cris. Did he leave it at Val's door....because I was swearing at the TV last night. If that goes any further than the kiss, I'm done with him until he really has to do some earning his chops to get Allie back. Ultimate revenge? Is that Val being able to pull the horrid pregnancy fakeout....NO!

And a coffee toast to Renato's Mom this morning. We hardly knew you, but you raised an amazing son who we wish had a better ending in store for him. There was a moment last night that I thought....oh, maybe we get a twist and Allie really does wind up with Renato? Dang...this show is killing me and I'm loving every minute.

Daisynjay

So yeah. Not looking forward to my recap tonight. Especially if Cris sleeps with Val.

Anyway, today's action.

Sev totally checked out her ass.

Whew, thanks Kat, I kept giggling

"Even the stuffed paisley dachshund with the pink ribbon agrees"

"He DEFINITELY leaned back to check out her ass"

"How are those Jedi powers working out for you, Don Mele?" You nailed this one Kat, just yesterday I was trying to visualize him and couldn't, yet you did. Yoda!

Dammit Cris, I spent time and energy on your finer points yesterday.

Val - I got an ace in the honey boo boo hole

Lola - go on ahead Aldonza, I'm gonna ride the elevator awhile

Cris - you just had to touch it didn't you

Emmanuel - hot cancels stupid to a point

Dominga - there any ass stuck between my teeth?

Renato - oh, and there was that time I didn't escort an old lady across the street

Cande - don't be so melodramatic, I didn't urinate on the altar

Severiano - Mari looks cuter if she's my sons gf

Kat, fabulous, fabulous...

Your witty humor and the way you put things in proper perspective are remarkable.

"Dominga and Melesio are worried about Lola. She's been quiet a whole three minutes" and "accidentally brilliant manipulators" were among many favorites.

“Mr. 5ft is cracking me up, asking if men are just falling form heaven”. Yes – and pretty hawt ones (including Jacinto too)! So good to hear from Mr. 5ft – he’s been missed. I don’t know how you recognized Lola’s new admirer? What a memory you have.

Thank you for translating Dominga and Cande's conversation. Props to Dominga for speaking her mind. Anon, thanks for pointing out Sev said "If I could, I would applaud you". Perhaps there is a sense of hummor hidden in the murky depths of his soul.

"She goes over to greet Severiano, and I swear it looked like he kissed her on the mouth". Kat, that was a definite husband/wife kiss (which they are) – so totally inappropriate for the characters. I wondered if that was impromptu as she had no reaction! Interesting.

tofie, "Renato - oh, and there was that time I didn't escort an old lady across the street". Exactly. And I really liked the actress who played his mother (she is not familiar to me). So now Renato will be alone with his miserable, cheating father.

I am beyond disappointed in Cris. daisy, I am sure he meant nothing initially than to comfort her. But he must realize that anything physical is only going to lead her on and immerse himself even further in her tangled web. I thought the kiss went on far too long as it was! Sorry, red dress, waterfall, blah, blah...I am ready for Renato to swoop in and abscond with Aldonza.

And now, more revenge? Good heavens, what can Sev and Cande do to her that hasn't already been done?? Wait. Perhaps I shouldn't have asked.

Diana

Kat - Thank you for the snarky recap!

I sometimes wonder if Emmanuel was deprived of a teensy bit of oxygen during his birth. (We know Roberta had trouble with the delivery). Em is a nice, sweet guy, but quite dense when it comes to “wimmin”, manipulations, machinations, etc.. Just sayin’ …..

”Dominga and Melesio are worried about Lola. She's been quiet a whole three minutes.”
LOL

”Dominga punts to Melesio.”
More LOLz!

”D: Lots of donations, lots of prayers…but when it comes to actions, that's when someone shows the kind of Christian they are. “
I am totally sitting at the Dominga table on the Patio. You go, girl!!!

Was Seve's left hand chopped off ?

Diva. Girl, that was beautiful. Spot on and hilarious. 5 stars, absolutely.

I have to admit that I did not see it coming that Aldonza would make that connection between the two suicides. And I'm sure Val didn't make the connection either.
Neither did I. Honestly, I forgot that Rob killed herself and thought "but she died of a brain tum-oh right!" last night. Does anyone in SL know it was suicide? Would any of them think twice about their actions if they did? We know Val will. but only to double any guilt Aldonza's feeling.

Come on, Em, are you going to get played by EVERY woman in town under the age of 30?

Emmanuel approaches a moping Cris and asks how he's doing. Like the good friend he is. And tells him that Valeria is depressed. Like the nice, but too easily manipulated guy he is.

just as the doors start to close a *ahem* handsome young man in a suit comes barreling down the hallway begging them to wait, runs directly into the elevator and practically pins Lola to the wall. She's not complaining. I'm not complaining. They're having a moment. I'm having a moment. Mr. 5ft is cracking me up, asking if men are just falling form heaven. Um, I kinda think so.

That last one made me laugh aloud.

E's being a pushover makes me sad. I keep thinking how often he must have tried as a child to please Pru, Cande, Sev and anyone else in his world, just trying to keep some acceptance, some affection. How many times has he probably taken the blame for Val or tried to make her day better without any thanks? I imagine it was a lot.

Wow - new guys! Jacinto means nothing to me right now. Patricio, on the other hand - well! I was not expecting him at all. He doesn't give me a "moment" moment, but I was not expecting the L-E-M triangle to become a quadrangle with that particular person (I was actually wondering how the heck they were going to revamp Lola and Renato to make them work b/c I was not seeing them working at all). Anyway, E's not going to like this AT ALL. Which serves him right. My question is, will Mari get jealous and go after Patricio too?

PS: I love Renato. But I don't like his hair cut.

Steve - yep, it's his left hand. Which I imagine they decided only based on the actor's dominant hand. The loss of a limb trauma and rehab would be an interesting new point for a TN though. Usually it's reserved for a villain at the end of the story.

I'm going to assume that happened when Seve & Roberta's husband were fighting.

Steve, yes, with a machete! That is also when Roberta shot her husband to spare Sev's life.

Diana

I think Sev's whole arm was chopped off, or damaged enough that it had to be amputated.

tofie-Dominga's entry was hilarious!!

Come on, Em, are you going to get played by EVERY woman in town under the age of 30?

I am trying to muster some give a sh-- for E-man right now. He just seems to have bungled the whole Lola/Mary triangle. But then I remember that he is not used to people being nice to him and he has NO idea how to deal with it.

It REALLY bothers me that the triangle might affect his JOB. That just seems unfair.

Thank you 5t Diva, I laughed out loud at the Mel and Dominga being worried about Lola because she's been quiet a whole 3 minutes line. She does talk and talk.

Please, please don't do the Cris and Val sleep together and she gets pregnant so they have to get married cliche. I hate that one the most.

The actor playing Sev and the actress playing Mari are married in real life? That just proves that the actress playing Mari is too old for that part. She looks like she's at least late 30s.

I went back and re-read the recap and I love that your described Mary's outfit. It was something I zeroed in on. Such a skank.

And I'm sure the actress is a perfectly lovely person, but she is so terribly mis-cast! It is so glaringly obvious that she is older than Lola, Val and Aldonza and no amount of pony-tail swishing and sashaying is going to convince me she's their age.

Oddly, Alex is in his late 30's but can totally pull off the role.

" E's being a pushover makes me sad. I keep thinking how often he must have tried as a child to please Pru, Cande, Sev and anyone else in his world, just trying to keep some acceptance, some affection. How many times has he probably taken the blame for Val or tried to make her day better without any thanks? I imagine it was a lot."

Brialliant observation Hellashelle. he's been that odd child out, not really belonging to anyone, not actually accepted well, except for Hum, who took him in. I think that may be why the director likes to always have E-Man standing alone or seeming confused. he doesn't know his place.

I thought it interesting the way the scene with Cris was filmed last night. E-man looking up at Cris...they may be friends, but I think we see E-man still feeling inferior to everyone. I don't look at it as being a pushover. Your point plays well into him asking Mari as she walked off if they can still be friends. He doesn't want to displease or hurt anyone. Sigh......

"He doesn't want to displease or hurt anyone."

I just love reading comments from you guys. So many interesting thoughts. I feel like you are helping me understand characters so much better.

And like the red dress conversation yesterday, I feel like the comments help me look a little deeper. It makes the show even more entertaining for me.

WOW ...and....YIKES.

Thanks so much , Diva, for that excellent recap.

I have not read the comments yet and only have time for a quick remark before I run off to get my driver's license photo ID and then look for a place for our class reunion.

I just knew when Pru QUIETLY skulked out the door with that sheepish look on her face that Vile's plan was to play the sexytime card and seduce Cris...and it looked to me as if her plan was working. Boohiss Now what...a pregnancy to seal his fate ?

I do not have a son , but I would want a son like Renato. I thought the scene between Ren and his mom was sweet. So many characters do not have good parent/child relationships.

I noticed the smarmy look on Severed's face as he groped Mari. Jacinto is a new, cute face. Maybe Mari will hook up with him to get pregnant and pin it on E.

Lola looked like she was ready for a new guy. I wish she would dial back her edthusiasm just a pinch.

Dominga...go, go, go. Mel looked like he wanted to put his hand over her mouth.

Cris seemed pretty decided on not getting back together with Val, so I'm going to hold it to him to put a stop to the post-breakup hook up tonight. Besides this show's been pretty good about surprising us, so I'm also going to believe that they won't pull a pregnancy blackmailing story on us.

Dominga won all the awards last night. She holds her tongue for a lot of things, but when she doesn't, whoa boy! I wonder if Cande's sniffling up in her room over it.

Good morning, all! I can't take credit for the "3 whole minutes" line...that was all Melesio.

Cris is confusing doing the "nice" thing with doing the "right" thing. He's probably thinking, "I can't push her away. That would really hurt her feelings." He got himself into this mess, by not listening to Humberto.

Anon at 1:37 and Cassandra G, yep, it was definitely a "Hahaha!...Uh, wait, I don't like you." moment.

Gracias, Sara! Mr. 5ft passed on iZombie, even though I dutifully pointed it out to him. I checked Google Maps, and if it's the correct "Santa Lucia" it's only a 2-ish hour drive back and forth, so at least it seems plausible to travel back and forth. I wonder what Patricio got his degree in, if he's going to be part of Mis Planes. And I apologize in advance for what I'm sure you're going to have to recap, 'cause he seemed caught. If it's any consolation, he'll probably be thinking "I should have listened to my godfather" the entire time.

Also, I would like some Mis Planes merchandise for the gift shop. Planners maybe, or blank notebooks.

Gracias, Daisynjay! He really does lose his spine around her. I don't know what they would call "ultimate" or even who the revenge is on. Dare I hope that despite Renato's personal drama, they go ahead and make the big move he was talking about?

Gracias, tofie! Your Lola line reminds me of the older couples in When Harry Met Sally, talking about their "how we met" stories..."I rode up nine extra floors just to keep talking to her."

Gracias, Diana! Mr. 5ft thought the same thing about that Mari-Sev kiss...that it was a husband/wife kiss and they did it automatically. Maybe the production decided it would skeeve us out more if they left it in. Well played.

Gracias, doris! Dominga was in fine form last night. Emmanuel has been deprived of so much in life. Someone needs to take him aside and talk to him. Or he needs to go somewhere else with his awesome Horse Whisperer skills and see how he's treated when he's just another guy and not "That orphan the doctor took in."

Hi Steve. Looks like you got your question answered.

Gracias, HellaShelle! I also forgot that Roberta committed suicide until Aldonza made the connection. Cande knows, because Padre J told her and Sev, but I don't know if she's been blabbing about it. I agree, if Val knew, she would use that as ammo.

Gracias, cathyx! I think she's in her mid-30's. She's just not carrying herself as if she's younger. Yet somehow she acts way younger than she's supposed to be. Compared to the job many of the other actors are doing, she sticks out as one of the not-so-greats.

Gracias, Susanlynn! I think Lola's "enthusiasm" dial is broken. It's either at "0" or "11"!

Thanks, 5ft. Your customary snark, observations, and mastery of the language always shines through.

Ugh! Cris and Val? Please don't do that! You could see the blood flow shifting from the big head to the little head.

Dominga would make a good sergeant in somebody's army. What a great butt chewing. I am glad that her position in the household made it unlikely she would be fired.

A lot of you seem down on Renato's dad, and that he might be involved in the mother's health problems, but how do you cause an aneurism? He did have that fling with Roberta, but maybe there is a back story to that?

David

Gracias, David. Prior to last night it was at least possible that Renato's dad was doing something to cause his sweet wife to have all those headaches. It's only now that we're finding out what the real problem is that we can discard that possibility.

I would like to order a couple of Mis Planes notebooks. Are there totebags or backpacks available? I always have a lot to carry around..and I always have a lot of plans. How about some sticky notes ...maybe pens and pencils..with erasers when mis planes go wrong.

Susanlynn, thank you, an entire LINE of Mis Planes office supplies would be brilliant! Why didn't I think of that?!

Eraseable pens!

I promised Cris a Dominga if he went stupid on us and if he sleeps with Val after gathering the guts to break up, declaring his love to Aldonza, watching his mother show her ass at church, another punch to Aldonza's head, Vals faux suicide attempt, one or two chides and a few atta boys, Aldonza gets to sleep with Renato and Cris has to hear the details a hunnit and fiddy times. I understand going to talk a bit about what when down but if he rides again that's the pony he deserves. No trickery involved here.

I cannot help but think Renato's mom WILL die and this is setting up Ren's father to be a character of interest....maybe for Adelina? Sure, he was having an affair with Roberta, but this is telenovelaland....

"Mary" is terribly miscast. She looks like a 45-year old who is trying to recapture her youth.

tofie, I'm with you. He's getting what he deserves if he goes there.

I keep thinking Val's behavior is like a toddler throwing a tantrum in the grocery store so Mom will buy them a toy. She's just going to do the same thing the next time she doesn't get what she wants, and when the fake attempts stop working, she'll start risking some real ones.

doris, if not for the affair with Roberta, I would think he's a good candidate for Adelina. I thought there was a little bit of a spark there when they first met.

I'm willing to bet (a dollar) that Cris will sleep with Val. Aldonza won't get to sleep with Renato though. It's totally unfair.

(Now I sound like the toddler pitching a fit.)

I definitely need some products from the Mis Planes line of calendars and office supplies.

I too am hoping for two things tonight since we will pick up right where we left off:

- Cris pulls a "gee, Val, not tonight. You just tried to off yourself. Maybe not a good time". or just tell her NO.
- And we get a Cande meltdown when Dominga takes up that tea she ordered. We know she always has to appear cool to the masses, but to Dominga alone, let's see what happens. She's still not mother of the year, but I would like to see the human side that realizes she pulled a real bonehead move in the church.

I'll take Renato's dad off my list of shady suspects. He seems to have a lucrative practice though so not sure I can see why he would up and go to SL. He and Renato don't seem that close that he would give up everything to go where his son is. I could see Renato deciding to move to SL though.

What could be such a surprise with the property ( which by the way she's only renting right?) that would stun Sev so much? Is there a loophole on house versus land Sev didn't catch? They seem to really be spending all their time on the house...

Daisynjay

Aldonzas plans may be for naught since Severiano has his thug reviewing the rental agreement. Don't know how Aldonza thinks by renting a place she can somehow snatch it back, even PJ told her the original sale by Roberta was legitimate.

Sara, I would be surprised if they broke the rule. And if they did break the rule, they might have to pacify certain demographics by having them get married first. Which I wouldn't entirely mind, but which would make it more likely that he goes down the "If I can't have you nobody can!" road.

Daisynjay and tofie, it being a rental property is where I'm stumped coming up with a theory. I keep wondering if she could do something like screwing with his water supply. Even if it's only for a year that she has the use of the property, that could screw with him significantly. Or contacting some kind of preservation society? Would she give up the waterfall to get it out of Sev's hands permanently? Is she planning to run some kind of business out of the house? I guess the rental contract would have some say in that, but so would the town's zoning laws. Maybe the loophole has to do with any improvements she makes on the house/property and who "owns" them after the year is up? But most rental agreements specify that it all reverts to the landlord, right? Maybe she's planning to open up the Museum of Severiano Mendoza's Misdeeds or put up a huge neon sign that says "Severiano Mendoza is a rat bastard."

Maybe she hopes to make so much money that she can make an offer Sev can't refuse??

Except she doesn't realize how long Sev has wanted the property.

Also, is the year in the house about doing something that directly helps her get the land back when it's over, or is it about working indirectly--messing with Sev enough that his prestige, credibility, and finances are in shambles by the time the year is up, so that he's not in a position to interfere when she makes her REAL play to get it back?

I mean an offer Hum can't refuse.

He's still the legal owner. She could make a bunch of money in melons and legally buy from Hum.

There is no amount of money he couldn't refuse. I don't think. He's too obsessed with getting back what's "his." He'd probably sooner sell off a portion of Las Animas (not that it's his to sell) than accept any amount of money to leave El Santuario and Aldonza alone for good.

To buy from Hum, it has to be enough money that he could take it and get out of Severiano's reach before Sev takes revenge on him. But at least that's an amount that might be possible to earn in a year! Not plausible, but possible.

What if we're thinking wrong contract? Not the rental one, but what if the sale Roberta agreed to wasn't on the up and up and that's what they find out? Looked on surface as a legit sale, but there are some loopholes in THAT agreement? I keep thinking for Renato to stake his legal reputation on this too, forget he's bonkers about Allie, there has to be something they found he feels is solid. I think he has a good idea who they are messing with, so if he's not backing down, it isn't over some rental contract? Think?

Daisynjay

In a way, Renato seems much more realistic about the possible consequences of what they're doing.

All we saw of the original sale was Padre handing Roberta a check and she said it was fine...the implication being that some kind of paperwork was sent back and forth. That might make it easy to miss things, I suppose. And she was distraught enough that I wouldn't be surprised if she failed to notice an error on the paperwork...incorrect property line or something like that. I would guess Humberto had someone competent review the paperwork, but then he didn't have anyone review his rental contract with Aldonza before HE signed it either!

Some contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on however you would have to be a really good attorney and Renato has just started. If he is at any sort of reputable firm he would be doing research only at this point and working 80 hour weeks with no time to frolic with Aldonza.

tofie, his magic job is coming from the same place as Aldonza's seemingly-endless fountain of money that's big enough to not need replenishing but not big enough to just crush Sev with instantly. Beanieland.

and any judge they went in front of would be in Santa Lucia. Surely Severiano owns a judge or two

The good thing is, those judge robes coordinate with everything, so Sev only needs to own one.

Ah,but tofie, this is TNLand where you are an expert and handsome too right out of college. Remember in MCET, Leon becomes the head of an advertising college maybe 6 months or so after getting his degree. of a major company. Yeah, never going to happen in the real world...even if you married the bosses' daughter. But in TNLand...bingo!

Daisynjay

gawd, I missed that, any suggestion on big beads to accent the look?

On this show, I think there would be beads and a ginormous blingy horseshoe pendant hanging from them.

Well, Renato's been out of school for, what, a week? So he probably has his own law firm.

Daisynjay, yeah, I remember, just like gettin laid cures a stutter in a 50 year old virgin.

Guess he does own his own firm but saves room and board by living and eating at home. Wonder if laundry is thrown in?

Cowpoke boots under the robe too?

In this town, boots are de rigeur. For all occasions. The spats/shinguards are optional.

Before I was all "spoiled rich kid" but now that his mom's probably going to die, I'm glad Renato spent more time at home, for her sake. Once she's gone, though I think he needs to move to SL and get a swinging bachelor pad with Emmanuel and Patricio. Bro Central version 2.0...now with more dateable bros!

Finally had a chance to watch my recording of last night's ep. Cris is on my "mierda list" for totally leaning in to Val's kiss. Of course she will get his clothes off and ... bump boots .... and then pull the fake pregnancy card. Val knows the telenovela rules and how to use them!

"Bro Central 2.0...no with more dateable bros!"

That don't use booze to problem solve!

I wrote like a super long comment last night and Blogger ate it :/

Sev does have a lovely little horseshoe shaped pin that he uses in his ascot.

Eli-For the life of me I can't figure out what makes comments disappear!

I read somewhere that if a blog owner will make the comment box open in a pop up window instead of on the same page that usually helps...but it was an article from 2010 so I don't know if that is even true any more.

doris, he did lean in. No denying that. Val's definitely wearing Eau de Villana. Similar to Eau de Protagonista, but requires more frequent application and doesn't come with the little birds that dress you in the morning.

Sara, sober problem-solving?! No way! People do that?

Eli, completely ate it. It's not even in my inbox. :(

Gracias, gringo. Val is the other one, as far as anyone but Val and Candela knows. That was one of the things Candela screamed at her in the church--that poor Val tried to kill herself.

I have no idea what Al's plans are, but I agree that it might be something about the contract for the original sale to Hum and not the rental contract. We rent out our farmland and a small produce stand , and the renters cannot make any changes to the property without asking. I remember a student I had from Rome who is said that she never rented out her apartment there even though she married an American and was living here because it was almost impossible to get a renter out..for some reason. I wonder if the same is true in Mexico.

I found this about renting property in Italy and I'm floored!

https://www.justlanded.com/english/Italy/Italy-Guide/Housing-Rentals/Rental-Contracts

On the same site, they also talk about rental agreements in Mexico

https://www.justlanded.com/english/Mexico/Mexico-Guide/Housing-Rentals/Rental-agreements

That seems more like what I'm used to for renting apartments in the US. When the contract is up, it's up and either party can easily end the contract with no restrictions for why.

That six months' notice for Italy sounds excessive. For one thing, a lot can happen in six months that could lead to not needing the property back. For another, if something does happen where you ARE going to need your property back, six months is a pretty long wait. I agree with your friend, Susanlynn...renting out her apartment sounds WAY too risky.

I think it's unlikely there would be 2 priests killed by the same person on one show. Not impossible, but unlikely.

Being we don't have a main character that is in the police force, I'm leaning to the idea we may not see a lot of killing. I could see Sev and or Cande trying to burn the house down though. It's the land Sev wants. Adn after all that to fix it up, it would be symbolic to Val or Cande to burn it. But then, maybe if that happens we have some innocent caught in either a burning house, or in the line of fire of someone trying to shoot.

No spoiler, but that house seems to be more and more it's own character and taking on a whole plot all it's own.

Renato right now has the biggest target on his back considering he is going hand in hand to support Allie in whatever it is she has up her sleeve. I am so hoping I'm wrong on that one.

Daisynjay

Sev & Cande remind me of Mexico's President & First Lady: both want power!

This TN is just like House of Cards!

Okay so this is what I wrote last night:

I loved Sevs joke but still hate him and I was so happy that Dominga gave Candy hell for the way she behaved!

Now to Cristobal, I can't blame him for being an innocent little Bambi, he has no idea that his father raped Aldonza and he sure as heck has no idea about the past dealings his family had with Aldonza's parents, which brings me to my next point:

Aside from Adelina, who else knows what really happened between Roberta, Sev and Raymundo?

Candy knows Sev cheated on her, and she knows something bad happened the night of the accident but she never heard the details because she did not want to know.

We then have Mel and Dominga who did not believe that Sev really had an accident, but they never said they thought it had something to do with Ray's "accident" right?

Padre J knows about the affair and the baby but does he know that Roberta killed Ray and that Ray was responsible for Sev not having a hand?

What I'm saying is that Adelina is the only one who has all the information, if anyone is at risk its her, she knows the dark secrets of the past and about Aldonzas rape-you kill her and a lot of information goes with her :/

This is not going to be up to Vivi standards of recollection, but...

"Aside from Adelina, who else knows what really happened between Roberta, Sev and Raymundo?" In the barn on the night Ray died? Adelina didn't even know until Roberta was close to dying. So now Adelina and Sev are the only people alive who know.

"We then have Mel and Dominga who did not believe that Sev really had an accident, but they never said they thought it had something to do with Ray's "accident" right?" Mel asked some questions about the timing of both the alleged "I fell on a piece of equipment" incident and the fire in Ray's barn. And they gave each other significant glances. And then when Melesio confirmed with one of the ranch hands that there was no piece of equipment that was a bloody mess that morning, he filled Dominga in on that and the both agreed to never speak of it again.

"Padre J knows about the affair and the baby but does he know that Roberta killed Ray and that Ray was responsible for Sev not having a hand?" We didn't see Adelina telling him, so I'm going with "no."

So, sadly, yes...if Adelina dies a lot of the truth dies with her.

But considering there are some prospective galans for her, they wouldn't want those to go to waste, right? :p

Steve - 9 times out of 10 you reference a show or an event as if we all know what you mean and make comments and ask questions that make it appear that you don't even watch the show or even read the recap. You rarely thank a recapper.

Humberto knows something stunk about what happened to Severiano's arm, he knows about the child too.

True! And he heard Sev coming on to Aldonza in his waiting room, including the remarks about "that night."

Diva. Thank you so much for yet another brilliant, detailed and funny recap that makes me feel like I'm kicking back watching it with ya! Everybody's hit my favorite lines. Thank you for the verbatim rendering of Dominga's dressing down of Cande! Too bad Cris was out of the country so much as a little tyke, he could have taken some spine lessons from Nana!

Tofie, your list's the bomb as usual, especially Dominga's line, also loved the chewing out you gave Cris. His line was wonderful as well. Yeah, I'm sure she touched it and I'm gonna be shocked if he didn't whip it out and end up being the one whipped.

I'm at his table but I'm hiding my face behind the La Sombra Tiendita catalog.

:/

Thanks Diva---for the answer to my comment question. However my comment isn't there both yesterday and now today ---Eli too
and wasn't it Steve a couple of days ago?
the gringo

I don't see any comments that showed up in email but not on the site.

Gracias, Lila! Lol, well, the catalog is growing daily!

So the Mis Planes planners will come in Leopard print... Right?

Of course! With a melon-green stripe... now I just need to find the perfect font....

Diva---My comment posted right after Sara at 2:08PM You must have seen it because you answered my question about two suicides.
the gringo

Gringo and others, pardon me if you thought of this but before I hit the publish button I usually copy the comment on the clipboard so if it gets lost I can re-send it. It can be a hassle but I know how it is to have something you really want to say, you feel good about how you said it and you want to jump right in the fray but. . . .dang it, blogger eats it! Just get you a little Word document or Notepad and paste those puppies on there and try again!

Just a thought! Oh. GREAT comments today, guys!

Right, it's posted on the site. I saw it on the site.

Sheesh, you guys are really busy while I'm at work. There were only 22 comments when I left.

If Cris is so weak that he sleeps with Val after declaring his love for Aldonza and breaks up with Val, I won't rest until I see Al and Cris apart by the end. I will never be in his court for the rest of the show. That's a deal breaker for me.

Blogger eats comments. Punto. It's frustrating but not the end of the world. For whatever reason gringo, your comments get caught in the spam filter. A lot.

Recappers have nothing to do with it and if they do you will see a message "comment removed."

So confused! The comment WAS there earlier. I have stopped comparing my inbox to the site because our comment volume is just too high. I got an email with comments, I come to the page, I read the comments here, I replied.

There's been way too much talk about the missing comments lately and I need to stop engaging in it, because as helpful as I try to be, ultimately I have no actual control over the issue!

So this is the last I'll say about it. No, you are not required to get a login. It has never been the intention to force people to register. It's up to you whether that's the course you want to take to lessen your inconvenience, but as we've now had someone *with* a login also have their comment disappear, that's not a guaranteed solution. Chalk it up to growing pains. This is the price we're paying, as a community, for our popularity. Take whatever measures you need to, but it's out of my hands.

lol, cathyx...we're not obsessed...much....

True 5ft Diva, I can't be responsible for what I do if he goes there. And I can't see any way he could explain that action and make me be ok with him if he does. Abelardo won't be lookin' too bad then, will he?

All he could say is "Well, I didn't want to upset her by saying 'no'" but that would bother me on SO many levels. He could *say* it, but it wouldn't convince me it was ok. It would be the total opposite of ok.

There's no way he could be that ridiculous. No. I refuse to believe it. Despite years of TNs indicating otherwise, I hold fast that he will pry the coiling Val monster off of his "moment" worthy body, and tell her this won't do either one of them any good.

Otherwise, I will leave the bloodied Mari in the mud pit and go after him.

Hhmmmm. My post was eaten. First time for me!

doris, are you sure? I saw you posted something on yesterday's post I replied over there.

And now I really, truly, will not address the issue of missing comments again. For real.

HellaShelle, I think he could be that ridiculous, but not on this show.

Totally would have happened elsewhere *cough*LG*cough*

Oh, if Cris does do the deed with Val, I will show no mercy, makes me mad already dude kissed her.

Man, Cris...If tofie's gonna jump you if you let Val jump you, then you really better reconsider! You don't have too many other solid fans right now...

Tofie, me too. How weak is he? Just the kissing was bad enough.

Sending *don't do it* vibes through cyberspace....
Please, let us have an actual galan! It's been so long! We can come back from the kissing... just re-attach the spine, please, for the love of plot!

Yes, I like CHris and have put up with his constant sleepwalking, sulking, and kicked puppy dog look, but if he follows through on what I saw happening last night in that viper's bed, he is done for me. By the way, I think this actress makes an excellent junior villaness. She makes you love to hate her. She played a great spoiled brat in PSMA.

The only tn that I saw in which the leading lady did not end up with the galan was Querida Enemiga. The galan was Gabriel Soto who was Alonso, but I called him Alonslow because he was so dim and dull and had the same expression on his face for the entire show. His competition was a hot chef whom I liked to call Chef Boy-R-You-Hot.

Question: If the girls stay in DF for awhile so that AL can comfort Renato and Lola can get to know Pat, is Severed going to show up there to terrorize AL or is Chris going to show up to court AL ?

Kat - you are right ... I posted on the wrong day. HOW did I do that??? Gah! Senior moment!!!

Susanlynn - Good question. I was thinking last night that while the good girls are away, the witches would have a field day, but somehow I didn't consider that maybe Cris would take a breather and be able to pursue Aldonza away from the wagging tongues.

Susanlynn, my prediction is that I don't think they're going to stay long in the big city. I think the big city is going to come to San Lucia. They'll come up with some reason that everyone relocates there. If mom lives, she may need to convalesce in a quiet town, then the whole family plus the friend move to San Lucia.

Okay whoever is putting the La Sombra catalog together, don't forget jewelry and accessories!
That LOCKET. Maybe Lola's little neck ribbon, Mary's ponytail extension, ALL of Pru's tunics...what else?

J in Oregon
"Looking stylish while viewing"

Cross body purses!

A flask with "Ay, nena!" engraved on it....

For carrying your Mis Planes planner.

Ooo. Good suggestion, Kat.

Cathyx, I like that plan. As long as they keep the drama away from mama!

Doris, I'm glad we figured out one mystery at least!

I read that about a TN that was so popular in Brazil that they actually were marketing a line of jewelry, scent and fashion based on the show. And it was flying out of the stores.

After reading all the suggestions above, I think somebody ought to do it!!!

J in O

I vote for melon scented ink pens.

I don't even like scented ink, and I would buy one if it were green on the outside with peachy ink or red ink.

If I can't find Pru's tops in a store, I might just get creative with some scarves or something. No, really I wouldn't. But I might.

Kat--Wonderful recap. It's great to "hear" your voice again. I've missed it.

Only just getting to the comments, but for your best line, "Come on, Em, are you going to get played by EVERY woman in town under the age of 30?", Wouldn't it have been more accurate to say EVERY woman...under 40? (Well, ok, maybe every actress under 40.)

Would you all think it fun to have The Naughty Melon serve Green Drinks out front; Skanky Clothing and Accessories in the Back (along with swishy fake ponytails)?

Gracias, Anita! The Naughty Melon has grown from a bar to a business empire. If things go the way I expect, we may have to add on a Saturday morning farmer's market soon. Selling actual melons.

About that rental contract--if I recall correctly and it was heard in haste, Hum told Aldonza that any improvements to the house would run on her account and not charged to the landlord. She readily agreed.

Obviously, Aldie wouldn't be making all these renovations to the house if she didn't intend for her residence to be permanent. She has some grand mis planes tucked into her notebook, for sure.

They're dragging out the reveal of Mis Planes so much, I really hope it's worth it when they finally tell us what Mis Planes are!

Kat--So you are all handling different locations for the Naughty Melon Enterprises or is it like a huge department store, like Tar-jais that carries everything from groceries, camping equipment, kitchen tile, stationery to a Saint Luci Line of baby clothes? (Umm, nope, that might turn into an incentive for Val to go ahead with her mis planes.) Will have to shut up and go watch my DVR'd episode. Chau.

Lol, I think the idea is that it's one-stop shopping for all your telenovela-watching, patio-sitting, gossip-inspiring needs.

I hope this show is set up like Amor Bravio. In AB, the good guys got wins throughout the show and thwarted the bad guys plans very often.

"I hope this show is set up like Amor Bravio. In AB, the good guys got wins throughout the show and thwarted the bad guys plans very often."

This is how you make a comment to compare one show with another. You name the show AND you explain WHY you are making the comparison. Not just some random comment about nothing.

Anon@8:23: Those of us who watched Amor Bravio know exactly what cathyx is talking about--and there are lots of us. If you haven't--just ignore the comment.
