La Sombra del Pasado #50 4-27-15 She's Aliiiiiive!!!

Let’s pick up where we left off!  Abelardo bolts down the stairs of Aldonza’s apartment building, exits and crosses the street, five-gallon gas can in full view.  He stops and calls Sev to tell him the job is done.  Sev is pleased and instructs him to return to Santa Lucia.  When Sev takes this call he is already at the Police Station and goes in immediately to talk to the Chief, who greets him warmly.  Sev has stopped by to inform the Chief that a nasty rumor is going around that he is involved in Padre J’s accident.  No alarms go off for the Chief that he’s not heard this “rumor” before.  Sev reminds the Chief he has had problems with this family making false accusations before.  The Chief remembers.  Sev has come to get the Chief’s assurance that he will do everything in his power to do a thorough investigation and make sure the ravings of Aldonza don’t soil his sterling reputation and honorable name.  The charges are all the more painful as everybody knows nobody loves and respects Padre Jeronimo more than him and his family.  The Chief assures Sev he will look into the matter with the ultimate care and attention to the law.  Sev leaves and the Chief wears a look I can’t quite figure out; determined pissivity?  “Here we go again?”

Eman stops by to see Cris in the study at Las Animas.  He wants to get the afternoon off to go see Padre J and to see if he has a message for Aldonza.  Cris does not but invites Eman to sit down.  Eman tells Cris he’s going with Mari again.  (Again?)  Whoa, Cris can only imagine how Lola’s going to feel when she finds THIS out!  Well, then she’ll know how he felt when he found about Goose, or Duck or whatever his name is.  Ah, here’s the real reason Cris wanted Eman to sit down:  Cris gushes profusely his love for Aldonza.  He can’t judge her, he loves her.  When he’s alone he imagines her with him, enjoying her company, building a family with her.  He sighs that this is just a fantasy that will never come true.  The hard part is accepting that Aldonza is not the woman he needs even though loves her with all his heart despite everything that has happened.   Ah, where is his beloved now?

Why, she’s at the Police station to denounce Sev’s involvement in Padre J’s accident.  She is surprised that the Chief already knows!  Chief demands to know if she has proof!   Aldonza counters that Sev threatened Padre!   She has to admit she wasn’t there.  He’ll interview Padre J when he’s able to talk!  Aldonza asks sarcastically what kind of law they have in this town.    The Chief reminds Aldonza that everybody knows about the feud between Sev and her Mother and the false accusation that he burned her huerto.  Aldonza argues that the two events are not related.  Chief says yes; she’s trying to keep the feud alive by inventing all kinds of charges against Severiano.  For her information the kind of law they have demands proof for accusations.    She says he’ll have it when her Uncle can speak and then they will see if he will believe a beloved and respected Priest or a man whose only merit is having money!  She turns on her heel and strides out.

Pru sits with Cande and has just told her Padre is not showing much improvement.  Pru offers her sage prediction as she chomps on tea and cookies:  The whole thing smells bad.  Padre has spent many hours in a coma and one of two things will happen; he will either die or spend the rest of his live as a vegetable.   Cande tells her to stop spouting nonsense.  Pru continues.  Well, there’s one consolation:  the relationship between Cris and Vale is healing.  Did Cande know they were going to the movies that night?  Yes.  Well, too bad Padre’s accident interrupted that, but the relationship will recover.  Cande waves her hands in exasperation and escapes to go refill the cookie plate.

Aldonza is back with Adelina at the hospital now.  Aldonza tells Adelina that she went to the Ministerio Publico to denounce Sev and they dismissed it!  Adelina thinks it’s a shame but they must have proof.  To that end she asked Joaquin to do some investigation.  The important thing now is that Tio get well!  Aldonza answers her cell.  Uh oh.  From her face and her “no puede sers” we know what she’s just been told.  Her Mother’s apartment has burned!

Renato and Pato are having café al fresco.  Pato sure has taken getting canned pretty good, sheesh!  “What’s your name, who’s your Daddy, is he rich, is he rich like me?”  Yeah, Pato’s like, things happened the way they should have.  This is a worthy sacrifice because he did it for love.   Next Pato looks in the camera which creeped me right out and said that love is the most sublime emotion anyone can have and it doesn’t come around everyday.  He might as well have finished the verse I started and said “It’s the time of the se-ee-son for loving!”  Anyway, Pato counsels that he forget about Sylvia who doesn’t want anything else to do with Renato.  She’ll get over it.   Renato’s cell phone rings.  We know who it is.  Aldonza.  Que?  Goes Renato.

Cris sits outside the stables staring out into the distance but pretending to be reading a horsey book when Vale saunters by.  She asks Cris why is he so pensive.  He’s worried about Padre J.  Vale is good at guilt baiting Cris and when he begs her pardon she comes off so magnanimous and understanding.  She does this with the missed movie.  Although he excused himself through her father, it was SHE that he invited.   Well, she’s got just the cure for worry about Padre J.  They should try for the movie again.  He can’t just spend his whole day thinking about Padre!  Cris, a little sterner look in your eye and crooking your neck a little more sharply and that would’ve been a WTF look you just gave Vale.  Need to practice!

Renato tries to calm Aldonza down.  Aldonza KNOWS Sev did it!  That apartment was her patrimony!  Aldonza is not listening, she proclaims through gritted teeth that Sev is going to pay!  Renato asks why she thinks Sev did it and she tells him of the slimy parking lot conversation when Sev threatened that what happened to her Tio wasn’t the end, that he was going to make her life a living hell.   Renato offers to go to the D.F.  as her legal representative and look into the fire so she can stay there with Padre J.  She asks about what Sev told her about his job.  It’s true.  Abelardo came and talked to his boss and Sylvia and told his boss about the suit she has against Sev.  She is so sorry; she never knew things would go this far.  He asks her please not to worry, Abelardo showing up at his law firm proves that Sev does have something to do with the apartment fire.  She continues to fret but he tells her please, he’ll do anything for her!  He will look into the fire though it will be difficult to make anything stick without proof but it’s worth a try.  Pato, the faithful sidekick is ready to go, like NOW!

Mari stops by her Mom’s store to tell  Lola that she going to give Eman a chance.    Puh-leeeze, Lola could care less what  Eman does; she’s got a boyfriend from the Capital.  Awwww, Mari wants to be friends!  Mari extends her hand; she and Lola share an unenthusiastic shake with plastic smiles which dissolve as soon as they part.  Mari wipes her hand as she walks away and Lola sends visual daggers into her back.

We arrive at Aldonza’s burned out apartment just in time to hear the Fire Chief tell the apartment manager or investigator there is no doubt the fire was provoked.  Renato arrives and introduces himself; manager/investigator dude repeats what Fire Chief said.  F.C. hopes Aldonza was insured as several other apartments were heavily damaged.  Renato will find out.  Oh, hey!  The FC is talking to the old gentleman whose exit Abelardo used to get into the apartment building!    The elderly gentleman says it was a young guy who said he was a new tenant.  Oh darn, the poor dear doesn’t think he can recognize him as he sight and hearing are not what they used to be and neither is his memory.  Oh, bless his snow-capped heart!  Ok, another suit enters and says he’s from the agencia de bienes y raices?  So, is he from the real estate agency, apartment management?  Not sure.  Please chime in.  Renato, Pato and this agency person go to survey damages in the building while the F.C. continues to question the elderly gentleman.

Oh, Lord.  Here’s Pru at a store wearing dark shades and a scarf buying a present.  Pru says it’s for Hum and the clerk tries to guess what the occasion is.  Oh, it’s just because he’s so hard working.  The clerk thinks it’s so sweet and all wives should be so attentive!  Pru swears her to silence and makes a NOT subtle exit from the store.  Her big red pant suit is like a scarlet letter.  Heffa!

Renato reports in to Aldonza:  Yes, the fire was intentional though more investigation has to be done.  Aldonza immediately begins to seethe through clenched teeth.  She knew it!    Renato tells her he also talked to neighbors and the property manager.   Is she insured?  No.  Well, if she wants to sell the apartment she is going to have to repair the damages as well as pay for the damages done to the apartments adjoining hers and that will cost her a lot of money.  She cries, why does everything turn out badly!  He reassures her it will be resolved; there’s nothing to do but face it.  Once the apartment is rehabbed, she can sell it and use the money to pay damages to her neighbors.  She should remain calm, he is with her, and they’ll talk soon.

Pru goes to Tomas's house.  He is greeted by an offended and pissed Tomas.  She begs him not to be angry and holds out the present she bought.  Oh, she thinks everything will be okay because she bought a present?  He rejects it.

She whines,   “What do I have to do for you to forgive me?”

“You know what I want; I want you, your kisses, your caresses, your body, your soul.”

“You know I’m a married, respectable and decent woman. . ."  Make up similar horse hockey to insert here.

He takes the present.  She takes off her glasses to wash Tomas in her smoldering, come hither gaze.

Adelina and Aldonza sit in the hospital waiting room.  Aldonza has recovered.  She declares that she can’t solve anything crying.  Yes, Adelina adds, Everything can be resolved except death.  Aldonza says Sev wants to drown her but she will show him again that she’s a survivor!  Adelina leaves to go home to bathe and rest a bit.  Sev sits outside hospital watching as Adelina exits.

Aldonza goes in to see Padre J.  Humberto and a Nurse are also in the room.   He still looks fragile and bruised and in a neck collar thingy.  Aldonza is capped and masked.  She immediately takes the mask off and starts talking and tsking over Padre.  He’s so good!  Oh, my gosh!  He speaks!  “She’s alive.  Roberta, your daughter is alive.  They deceived you.  They told you your daughter died, she is alive.”   I didn’t give Padre’s utterances an exclamation point but his words ARE clear and declarative!  Aldonza asks Humberto what he said.  Doc Humberto looks like he just had a shift of intestinal solids.

Sev springs on Adelina in the parking lot, hissing derisively, “Sssss sssss, where you going in such a hurry!”   He tells Adelina he just heard there was a terrible accident at their apartment.  She asks how he knew.  That’s not important, he came to make them an offer they can’t refuse given the circumstances.  He offers to buy the apartment at a reduced price.  No, he’s not making fun of her as Adelina suggests:  he just wants to help her the way he helped her sister when she needed to sell her lands.  Is it such a bad thing for a “Good Christian” to lend a helping hand?  He reaches out to touch her cheek and Adelina lambasts him – PYE-OWW – upside the head!  “Is my answer clear?” Adelina asks and strides away.  Sev's eyes follow her with a deadly glare.

Back in Padre’s room, Aldonza is very moved by Padre’s speaking.  Hum insists she not pay attention to what Padre was saying; his fever is making him delirious.  Padre continues to repeat “She’s alive.  They deceived you.”  Aldonza tries to get to her Tio to understand what he was saying.  Hum and the Nurse force Aldonza out of the room.   Eman comes as she is ejected and tries to calm her down.  Aldonza tells Eman Tio was saying something strange.  He spoke of her mother and a child that is still alive and he kept saying it over and over.  Eman convinces her to go with him to the cafeteria for a cup of calming tea.

Ooo La La, or Yuck!  Pru and Tomas are on his couch making out.  Snoggus interruptus by a knock on the door.  Pru hastens to straighten the coffee table.  A little boy scoots past Tomas.  He is carrying a Bible.  His Mommy said there was going to be Bible study here so she sent him over.  Pru smiles prettily and tells him THIS class is only for adolescents.  Tomas picks the little tyke up to hurry his exit out the door and dives back on the couch on top of Pru.  KNOCK KNOCK!  The same little boy zips past Tomas again.   When is the children’s group? He asks.  Tomas tells him it’s not formed yet and when it is, they will let him know, and don’t come back!  He heists the little dude up and out the door again but he returns to ask the flustered Pru:   How can you tell me if you don’t know my name or where I live?  Tomas says “what’s your name Hugo?  Paco?  Luis?    Okay, we’ll put out a bulletin when the time comes.  Now leave and don’t come back til you’re 15!”  Tomas puts him out and dives back to the couch where Pru rises to meet him and their mouths connect as if magnetized.

Cris walks in and overhears Cande digging out someone at the hospital about Padre J.  Cris wonders at how frazzled she is.  It’s not like her.  Yes it is, she was like that when his father was in the hospital and lost an arm.  Can’t she be concerned about the people she cares about?  Cris doesn’t realize the tremendous friendship that exists between her and Jeronimo.  No, what Cris doesn’t understand is how she can care so much for him and hate Aldonza, his niece?   Oh, don’t even compare them sneers Cande!  Well, too bad it doesn’t work that way for him.  Aldonza hates his father and because he carries his blood, she hates him, too.  Cande tells Cris this obsession with Aldonza is going to drive him crazy!  Please, forget her, for God’s sake!  Cris’s gaze is pained, and slightly dazed.

Eman and a much calmer Aldonza are in the hospital cafeteria.  She’s trying to introduce Eman to the wiles of the devil.  Eman doesn’t understand what Sev would get out of hurting Padre J.  Doesn’t he know Sev is capable of anything to make her suffer!  Eman wonders why would he want her to suffer.  They’ll find this out when Tio wakes up and they can talk to him!  Well, whatever comes of that Eman tells her there is no way Cris has anything to do with what she suspects Sev of.   Eman thinks she should try to at least be friends with Cris, you know, like Valeria.  Say whaaat?  Yeah, Cris and Valeria are going to try to be friends.  Good for them, goes Aldonza.  They can be friends or whatever because even though she loves Cristobal with the whole of her soul, she is convinced they can never be anything to each other, friends or anything else!

Irma and Lola are in the little store.  Lola confirms there is no word on PJ.   She prays he gets better soon, he is such good people!   Irma tells Lola that Simonetta came by.  Irma doesn’t think Simoneta’s interest in Lola is normal; they have nothing in common.   Lola defends Simoneta and the budding friendship and scolds Irma for acting just like her Grandparents!  Lola thinks Simoneta sees her like a daughter and tells Irma about Simoneta having lost a daughter.  Lola thinks that since she lost her mom, it’s a good match.  Lola goes to the back room and Irma is thinking, hmmmmm, something doesn’t, or DOES add up.

Sev is waiting at the table in Simoneta’s house as she returns home and is greeted by him chewing her out for going out.  He brings up that Abelardo entered her house when she wasn’t there.  Simoneta defends herself:  she can’t stay cooped up all day and nobody saw her.  She dials down and pours him a drink.  Don’t let it happen again.  She gives her word.  He’s going to the capital.  Simoneta wants to go, too!  It’ll be a great opportunity for them to be together!  Nope.  Cris going with him.  He needs to get him away from SL, he’s messing around with a girl that’s no good for him.  Simoneta asks isn’t he getting married. . .He broke his engagement and all for this woman that’s driving him crazy.  Simoneta remarks that Candela must be going crazy, too.  Oh yeah, she is.   Sev leaves in a snit but leans in for a kiss on the cheek from Simoneta.

In the kitchen at Las Animas Dominga tells Mel she heard Sev talk to a woman last night and she thinks it was Simoneta.  How?  Because he said he was going to send some stallions to her ranch.  (Remember, this was a phone conversation he was having with Simoneta but he faked talking business when Dominga walked in).   Funny, Mel says Sev hasn’t talked about selling horses to any Simoneta or Viviana.  Mel will look into it.  Dominga says this way maybe they can find out where this woman lives.  Mel will talk to the Patron himself!  (Yikes, watch out, Mel!)

Irma comes to visit Adelina.  She asks how Padre is.  As far as Adelina knows, Padre has not awakened yet but both pray  he does.  Irma tells Adelina she and Aldonza can count on her unconditional support and assures her they are not alone!    The two friends hug affectionately and Irma leaves.

Eman and Aldonza are now at the hospital and rise eagerly to talk to Hum.  They are managing the fever and Padre’s babbling is actually a good sign that he is improving.  Not out of the woods, but improving.  He tells her it’s best that she not go in now.  He needs to rest and he’ll advise her when it’s ok.  Eman has to leave and we feel the call of the blood as he gives her a brotherly hug and leaves.    Hum tells Aldonza he is so happy that Padre is getting better.  Aldonza tries to apologize about the lawsuit but he defects that; they can talk about that later.  He counsels her not to put any importance on what Padre was saying.  People with fever say things that are incoherent, that don’t make sense.  I don’t know if Doc sees the bald doubt in Aldonza’s eyes but I sure do!

Abelardo is at home and calls to report to Sev.  Sev will see him tomorrow to pay him.  Irma comes in to greet Lardo who proudly tells her that he had to resolve some problems for Sev;  he just talked to him and he’s so pleased, he’s going to get a bonus!  Irma questions whether that is kind of soon as he just started.  Abelardo goes on the offense with a guilt trip about how they can never say or think anything positive about him; a perfect stranger has more confidence in him; they even to accuse him of robbery!   He says it’s best he doesn’t continue living there as he huffily throws things from one suitcase to another.

Finally, Sev goes to see Hum pretending to be interested in how Padre J is doing.  Well, he’s showing some signs of improvement.  Like what?  He tells Sev that he started to talk, saying that Roberta’s daughter was not dead.  When asked, he tells Sev that Aldonza and a Nurse were present.  He says she got upset but he convinced her it was the fever making him talk incoherently.

Sev:  Why didn’t the Priest die?

Hum:  I’m starting to believe that what Aldonza says is true, that you are involved up to your neck in what happened to Padre.

Sev:  And suppose you tell me what I could have done to cause his accident, enlighten me in case you and I have a problem in the future and I need to make you disappear.  Whatever happened, it has nothing to do with what I have planned to oppose this lawsuit brought by this stupid Aldonza.  I can still count on you, can’t I?

Hum:  For the time being, no.  It would be inhumane to do anything against these women while Padre Jeronimo is in the hospital.  The thing to do is hold off doing anything for now.

Sev:  Compadre, you have the power to detain things forever, if Padre should, sadly not recover, say, have a respiratory arrest.

Hum asks what is he trying to say.  Sev tells him to stop faking, he knows what he’s talking about and it wouldn’t be the first time in his miserable career he did it.  He, Hum, has the solution in his hands, “you kill the dog, you cure the rabies!”

Fin!

Hey! Y'all are stuck with me again. Still working on it, finished hopefully in a bit!

:D

Looking forward to the rest, Lila! The first part is wonderful.

The fire investigation and implication of Lardo's involvement happened sooner than I thought it would. Bit Aldonza is screwed. Big time! No insurance. Neighbors demanding compensation for their damages. Yikes!

Listen up, Vecino Viejo-- being 100 years old is no excuse for being an incompetent witness! :)

I won't get to read this until the AM (still slogging away on the Amores recap), but I can't wait!!

Can't wait to read what everyone has to say about this episode.

Second part's up!

Looking good!

"Cris, a little sterner look in your eye and crooking your neck a little more sharply and that would’ve been a WTF look you just gave Vale. Need to practice!"

Ha! and Amen!!

Also loved the "shift of intestinal solids."

Ok, here comes last part!

Thanks, Vivi and Sara. My dear friends, I'll see y'all tomorrow. I'll fix any boo boos tomorrow and feel free to add, subtract correct.

Great episode. Have at it!

Lila, there are no boo-boos! It is a great recap, richly adorned with snark and lovingly detailed. THanks so much!

Highlight for me was the little kid trying to horn in on Pru and Tomas' "bible session", too funny!

Starting to wonder if the writers would really kill off Padre J? Naw--they couldn't. That would leave Aldonza and Adelina defenseless. But what's going to happen to Don Camilo and the canaries? Every night just adds to the level of angst.
Plus tonight Ald was wearing a necklace with a big red locket thingy but it wasn't the locket with the Virgencita surrounded by pearls.

J in Oregon

Stuck indeed. Couldn't wait!! Great recap.
Off to work and can add more later, but last night was like a flashing billboard of "Look how evil Severiano is". Every scene was either him in it or about him. Yish...we need a break.

Nice set work on the fire. I was actually admiring how realistic they made that. And glad the little old man actually made the point of the "young man". Any bets Renato starts helping Allie in the money dept. which will be all the frustrating when she goes back to Cris. This guy's life is all about a girl he isn't destined to win...driving me crazy.

Check in later!!

Lila- Loved the conclusion of the recap. It was a good episode.

I was laughing so hard during the scene with the little boy and Pru and Tomas' "Bible study." Those three had the comedic timing down perfectly.

And we needed the levity because Sever is giving Adelina murderous looks, and asking Hum to murder Padre. Yikes! Let's hope this is enough to swing Hum back over to Al's side.

Just finished the rest of it. Thank you again.

Daisynjay - we must have been on the same wavelength because I was fascinated by the set of the burned out apartment, too!

J in O- I'll join you at the They Couldn't Really Kill the Padre, Could They? table.

Lila - Thank you for the recap and the snark!
"Snoggus interruptus", indeed. LOL

So, the apartment was not insured. How stupid can one be?!? I guess that was not part of her mis planes. Eejit.

We just KNOW that shop clerk will ask Hum, at some point in the future, how he liked the gift Pru bought for him. Wheeeee!

Irma may be the queen of denial regarding her two worthless offspring, but she seems to be a very good friend to those around her.

"J in O- I'll join you at the They Couldn't Really Kill the Padre, Could They? table
I'm sitting at that table, too. He and Dominga and Mel are the only really sane people on this telenovela. And poor Padre J is the only LSdP character who truly does not know he is in a telenovela!

Thank you, J, Daisy and Doris! Thanks, Doris, caught the error this morning! Thank you all so much. Got to run to work (darn it) but I hope youze all have time to chat this episode up before 7 tonight. Love to hear everyone's take on it! It will be a wonderful after work treat!

See ya!

I am firmly at the "They won't kill the Padre" table. I think that accusation from Sev just may make Hum realize that he doesn't want to go down that road anymore.it just may be his death-knell, but this is the test for him--he goes dark, or he faces his demons and lets the Padre live, letting Sev do whatever to him. I'm still fascinated to find out what Hum did prior to coming to SL--always that hint it wasn't good. Could it be enough to crash down the whole family's reputation--that would be the ultimate back at cha to Pru--becoming a nothing in town.

I couldn't agree more Vivi on that whole Pru/Tomas/adorable munchkin scene. Well directed, well written and acted.

It was almost painful watching Allie last night. I soooo wish she would just breathe, and THINK, before she acts and keeps throwing around the "Sev did it" tirades. She has nothing for proof, she even admits it, and yet she expects what? Yeah, it's frustrating, but if she would be calmer and not be so hysterical when approaching people for help, maybe she would get somewhere. She's only feeding the fires on what Sev wants everyone to think. I know she's hurting, but frankly, she's supposed to be a strong, smart woman and right now, she's not even remotely acting like one. If she didn't have Renato, and Adeline(who has toned down her frantic shouting), telling her to constantly calm it down, she'd be out of her mind right now.

I have a glimmer of hope with our Chief of Police. Maybe not the a-typical bought-off scum bag.

Great job Lila, I love your writing style, so easy to read.

So in Mexico you don't need to have insurance but if you did, it would cover arson. Good to know.

Had to laugh too about Abelardo not leaving the gas can in the apartment and walking out and holding it while he talks on the phone.

Another good thing is that Abelardo can be placed in MC when the fire went down.

Let's hope Humberto has enough scruples left to not kill off the padre. But I bet Abelardo doesn't. Potassium overdose anyone?

Actual arson scene: Lardo runs in, starts splashing gas all over; then at the FAR END of the living room, lights the match. Who is that stupid?

Hahah Doris: "Padre is the only character who does not know he is on a telenovela". This actor is playing it so real, not a stereotype priest, he lights up the screen.

Did we ever find out of Tomas had any bidders for the Candy House when he tried to sell it on Mexican eBay?

"Let's hope Humberto has enough scruples left to not kill off the padre. But I bet Abelardo doesn't. Potassium overdose anyone?"

Yikes! You've brought up a very likely possibility, cathyx!

J in Oregon-I don't think we've heard about any bidders. It has to be important though. Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to show us the scene. (Right?)

Morning everyone! Great recap Lila! (and on short notice too!

Lol, I missed Pato breaking the fourth wall, but I'll definitely go back and check it out tonight. He was remarkably chipper for someone who's just been fired. Maybe his family's even richer than Ren's?

Mari wipes her hand as she walks away and Lola sends visual daggers into her back. Yeah this frenemies story feels like filler a lot of the time, but I smiled at their handshake and fake smiles. There's some scene floating around in my head of two men trying to squeeze the other's hand hard enough to break it during a handshake, but I can't quite remember what it was. Fernando Colunga may have been involved....

“Sssss sssss, where you going in such a hurry!” LOLOLOL Great, now whenever Lizard Lardo and Sev the Snake, I will be cracking up!

ITA - that little boy was adorable! So cute and a great little actor.

DaisynjayITA - Ditto, ditto, ditto on Aldonza. She needs to stop ignoring her aunt and take a page from her book on Sev. Slap him silly, walk away and stop screaming about his every move, real or imagine, to everyone all the time!

Doris - I was also wondering if the clerk will say something to Hum about it or if she'll see Lardo wearing/using/eating? it (whatever it is)/ I don't know why Pru thought the glasses and scarf would help, the clerk knew exactly who she was and will surely remember their conversation. She definitely should've said she was sending the gift to a friend or family member who lives far away.

THANK YOU....THANK YOU....THANK YOU!!!

Lila, much, much appreciated

Sorry. A "not really adding to the conversation" comment. Delete at will.

I'm not sure how long I can stand everything going wrong for Aldonza. I hope we are given *something* good for her. Anything to tide me over until the fin.

I think (hope) that Hum braws the line at murder. He's pissed at Aldonza, but he's been trying to pull away from Sev's influence, so I want to believe he won't jump back on the team with something this serious.

Listen up, Vecino Viejo-- being 100 years old is no excuse for being an incompetent witness! :)LOL Vivi!!! Yes!!! I was listening to him and thinking what I'm sure everyone else in the room was thinking: so...you're testimony is going to be 99% useless. There's a young guy, but you admit you think everyone younger than you is young. You can't trust your eyes, ears or memory and you only spoke with him for a second. Great. Very helpful, thank you. Can we PLEASE get some cameras in this place? Someone call Goren and Eames and we'll get this sorted out in a Criminal Intent hour.

Val - ugh. She's not even a villain I love to hate, or want to figure out. There's so little in her character to be interested in that she's just annoying.

Awefrigginsome Lila and thanks for the Zombies fix this morning.

Aldonza needs to get herself in therapy. She is toxic to be around.

I'm still bothered by how easy it is for Renato to lose the job for love and take two others with him. Despite the 11th hour bribe by Abelardo the guy was AWOL and did treat his buddies as his personal army on someone else's dime.

Renato - Wham! Everything She Wants https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf_Lwe6p-Cg

Pato - Goose dies in Top Gun

Mari - na-na, na-na, boo-boo, stick your head in doo-doo

Abelardo - jumping jack flash it's a gas, gas, gas

PoPo Chief - wish crazy was a crime

Val - lets go see Guilt Trip

Humberto - him or me

Pru - boredom or whoredom

Parish Flock - damn, please don't listen to the ramblings of a comatose priest

Severiano - can count the number of times I've been slapped on one hand

"Pato - Goose dies in Top Gun"

Yikes tofie!! hadn't thought of that.

At this point, I'd rather E-man just be alone, learn the truth and get use to his knew identity. But I still see little anvils over his head all the time, just like Roberta. Cripes, I don't want him to be the sacrificial lamb to everyone else's slaughter.

Thinking twice about this...what was that throw-away line by Adelina that she put Joaquin in the trail of getting proof or clues about Sev and the padre's accident? WTH?? are the police that inept THEY wouldn't see cut brakes but he would if he sees the car? My beanie is shaking....

Couldn't agree more on Val, hellashelle. She shows up on the screen, she's like this annoting gnat I want to just swat away.

Daisynjay

Lila, thanks for the great recap.

Sev is not a snake. He is a turkey vulture. He hovers over his prey until they are at the weakest point and then swoops in and then attacks.

Death to Sev!

Val is just like her mother but without the flare for fashion. Poor Hum stuck with these two women.

I am off to the chapel to pray for PJ's recovery - we just cannot lose him.

Rosemary Primera

Rosemary Primera-I think the casting of Cynthia Klitbo and Thelma Madrigal was inspired. They look like mother and daughter to me...especially in the eyes.

The costume dept has been kinder to Cynthia. It's true.

Super great Lila and lots of great snark to.

The red pant suit is like a scarlet letter.

Plastic smiles and daggers in her back.

Smoldering come hither look.

So Roberta's baby was a girl.

No cameras at that nice apartment?

Tofie---Pru-boredom or whoredom.
the gringo

Hey, gringo! Glad to see you today.

Are you asking if Roberta's baby was a girl? The only two people who know the gender of the baby are Sever and Humberto, and they aren't telling. Adelina heard it from Sever, and Padre heard it from Adelina. So they are both going on the word of a known liar. You be the judge.

Why does Pato think Silvia will "get over it"? I wouldn't! I would get past it, but the matters of the heart aside, the guy gt me fired for helping me when he could have just dropped the case. He could have then quit the job he was willing to sacrifice anyway, and gone back to helping his obsession or found her a new lawyer and joined that team, or appealed to a higher power for my job, but no. He didn't do any of that. Yeah, I'd be PISSED.

"SNOGGUS INTERUPTUS" is one of the funniest comments I have ever read in a recap. I am still screaming!

Who is the daughter that is still alive? Is Padre J confused in his semi conscience state? Will Tomas a Pru ever get it on? Will Renato save Aldonza from herself? Got to keep watching.

Thanks again Lila, "snoggus interuptus" HA HA HA HA

emeraldrose- The "daughter" is 98% likely to be Emmanuel. Padre is not confused. He just (most probably) has misinformation about the gender of the child.

Something tells me she won't make it to the end alive...just saying!

I got to watch this episode during lunch today.
"Cris, a little sterner look in your eye and crooking your neck a little more sharply and that would’ve been a WTF look you just gave Vale. "
Oh yesss!!! That WTF look was treat, as it was, but he could practice a bit more. LOL

The Pru/Tomas/biblestudykid scene was priceless!!! Without Lila's recap, I might not have paid attention. Great comedy!!!
"Don't come back 'til you're fifteen!" LOL!

I have a new theory (ha!) about the face masks in hospitals. Perhaps the rule is to wear them in the hallway and remove once you're inside the patient room. :-)

I know that the bad guys have had some setbacks, but it seems like they just keep kicking Aldonza and her aunt. and poor Padre J, I hope hum will grow a pair, and declares "I am NOT doing this for that slimmy sev." Wont somebody stand up to this man, does he own everybody in that town. it's like JR Ewing has been reincarnated and came back as Sev.

Nina

Nina - Yes, J. R. Ewing indeed and worse. I don't think J.R. ever raped anyone. Sev makes J.R. look like a saint. Well, maybe not a saint... I'll settle for altar boy. ;-)

I wonder what gossipy Prudencia would say about the (supposedly) decent, God-fearing wife of the "honorable" town doctor sneaking around with a young man half her age trying to do the horizontal mambo and ... oh, wait a minute ...

Thank you my friends for you enthusiastic appreciation and great discussion today. Dern it! Didn't get to join you but glad you all had a good time! Thank you, Vivi, Sara, Doris, J in O, Daisynjay, Cathyx, Hellashelle, Emeraldrose, Rosemary Primera, Gringo, Tofie- love Lardo, Pru and Mari's lines! And thanks for the "Everything She Wants" link. Gosh, I love flashing back! The past is still alive for me through music! LOVE IT! (That George Michael was a gorgeous bastard, wasn't he? I mean that with the greatest of affection!)

Hey, Nina! Hee hee Anon@6:12!

My 2 cents:

I also loved the "Bible study" scene. That little boy was trying to get saved and Pru and Tomas were trying to go in the other direction!

Glad to see Hum try to show some ethical behavior. We'll see what he does today.

Sev wants to hustle Cris out of SL. I think it's about time for some more Cris and Aldonza mouth to mouth resuscitation because these declarations of endless love just aren't getting it for me!

I MISS YOU DIVA VA VA VA VA VA va va va.....!!!

Hope you had a great show!

Lila, I'm with you about Cris and Aldonza needing some more kissing. They have to do that every few episodes so that they remember they are destined for each other.

Late to the party. Hub and I went to see a movie..''The Age of Adaline.'' I wanted to say thanks to Lila for providing us with another terrific recap of the madness, sadness, and mayhem. Only half an hour to see what happens next.

We didn't discuss Sever making that snide comment about Adelina still being a senorita (i.e. virgin) as he looked her up and down with that perv look of his. Yuck!

Thank you dear Susanlynn!

Vivi, Sev is the king of slimy leering, isn't he? Yuck, indeed!

Sara: yes we need something good, or at least something not so bad, to happen to Aldonza and her family. Pleeeez.

Also, I hate to compare Sev to a snake or a turkey vulture; they are among nature's most majestic creatures...compared to him.
:o)

J in O

You are so right, J. Sev is his own slimy species!

Lilagirl-please tell me what Is anon@6:12?
I probably know but I don't remember right now please refresh me.

Nina

Gracias, again, Lila, for another hilarious recap :D Thank you for the shout-out! I missed y'all too :D
