We are over! La Sombra Del Pasado #35 04/06/2015

Hello my patio peeps! Here goes your recap, enjoy!

First, I'd like to announce to the patio that I also have my little beady eyes set on Renato, and I'll throw rocks at anyone who comes between us, you've been warned!

We pick up where we left off last week, Aldi is telling Renato that she kissed Cristobal because she loves him and tha even though she loves him she also understands that they can't be together. I'm all for honesty but when you know a guy is into you it's just kinda mean to tell him that you love someone else, at least I think so. Renato to his credit does not pitch a fit like so many other telenovela men would do and instead tells Aldi that he worries because she is in love with the son of the man she wants to destroy. Aldi changes the subject and invites Renato on a tour of the property, he agrees to go.

In the hacienda of no love and zero privacy Cris is in bed with a book-but his thoughts are actually on a conversation he had with Mel, when Mel told him he should take the bull by the horns and fight for the woman he loves instead of attending engagement parties. Candy walks in on Cris and quickly questions where he went off to during the party, he tells her he went for a walk, he was very uncomfortable with all the strange people and needed a walk to clear his head. Candela does not buy it and finally Cris snaps at her and tells her to tell him where he was if she does not believe him, she makes it seem like Cris is the one with the problem and tells him she'll leave because he's clearly in a bad mood-umm with a mother like her it's a surprise he hasn't started cutting himself to express his inner angst. Candy take a moment to ask Cris is Val liked the ring and he says that she did.

Pru and Honey Boo Boo (Valeria) discuss the engagement, they are so both happy that Val finally managed to trap poor Cris, Pru is very taken with the ring Val got and wonders if it's expensive. Val tells her the ring once belonged to Cristobals great-grandmother and she's sure it's worth a few pesos-she says Cris has always been a good gift giver and that if he was "cheap" she would never stay with him-even if he is handsome. They then take turns talking trash about Aldonza-I wonder if they have a slam book and weekly meetings devoted to the trashing of all things Aldi? Anyhoo, Val is sure the party was enough to keep Aldi away from Cris, now no one can keep them apart, bwaahahaha.

Cris has gotten out of bed and is now waiting for Val in her living room, while there Humberto tells him about the break in at his clinic, the story is that someone tried to steal his laptop, but that does not sound right to Humberto, why would anyone go through so much trouble over a computer, and why mess up his office like they were looking for something? Cris tells him that's what bad eggs do-they screw people over for the hell of it.

Ugh, I hated this scene. Melesio comes up to Emmanuel and tells him that he's a disappointment, what he did at the party was horrible and Melesio no longer holds a high opinion of him. Emmanuel looks like a puppy that's just been kicked, he tries to apologize but Mel won't allow him to. He tells him that from now on he is to speak to him only about work related issues and he must stay away from Lola-or else.

Dude, this is so uncalled for, first of all E-man already gets a hard time at home simply for daring to breathe and now he's being treated like he did the most horrible thing ever. Fine, getting drunk was uncool, but it's not like he slept with Mari or knocked up Lola, or beat a baby seal, he kissed a girl (or rather got forced into kissing her) and everyone is acting like he is Satan's spawn-oh ummm never mind, ignore that last part.

Speaking of Satan, Sev is with Simoneta, he wants her out of town like now! He blames her for people finding out about their affair and tells her that he's not leaving Candy (man you could have been free!) so if she finds out about their fling the one that's going to be hitting the road is Simoneta. She does a whole "let me love you baby" dance and tells him that Candy won't find out about the affair from her, she understands that no one can know about their affair and begs him to allow her to stay. Sev questions why she wants to stay in town, is there something she's not telling him? She's all like "nope, just here for you", like we believe you!

Uriel visits E-man and tells him to explain himself and omg, why?! It's not like skanky Mari is 12, she's a grown woman and all they did was kiss! By the way I agree with whomever said that the actress is miscast, she looks way older than 20ish. E-man apologizes AGAIN, he should go on an apology tour like Hugh Grant did when he got caught with the hooker!

He says he had to much to drink and the way he remembers it it was Mari who did the kissing, Uriel tells him he was too drunk to remember anything clearly and Mari says he kissed her. He demands that E-man make things right and if he really cares about his daughter he needs to tell Lola and then prove by actions not words that he loves Mari, if E-man fails to do this Uriel will have him fired! Oh Uriel, you sunk so low.

Irma (I really like Irma, the actress has such a sweetness about her) comforts a crying Lola who wants to quit her job, she explains that she would not be able to stand the sight of E-man with Mari. Irma tells her not to get ahead of herself, they really don't know what is going on between E and Mari and where else would she find a worker as charming and awesome as Lola? Who would give her the best gossip in town? Lola agrees to stay but tells Irma that she can't be friends with Mari, Irma says she understands and tells Lola that she has to understand that she (Irma) can't take sides, Lola understands and continues to cry as Irma comforts her.

Later E-man sees Lola outside the church and again tries to explain and apologize but it's not working, she tells him what happened was her fault for pushing him into something he did not want and tells him she forgives him, then she asks him to leave because she can't be at the same place he is, E-man leaves and Lola starts to cry again.

Renato and Aldi are out looking at the lands and the santuario- she tells them the property used to be bigger but that Sev burned them down and then bullied them into leaving town, but she's going to get the land back, Renato tells her he will do everyting he can to help her reclaim her property-did you guys notice his accent?

Then Renato gives Aldi the best gift ever given in a telenovela: a gun. He makes his case by saying that Sev is dangerous and it does not matter how strong the locks on the doors are, if he wants to get in the house he will. Aldi says she can't take the gun because if she did she would go find Sev and kill him, also she's never used a gun and if her uncle and aunt found out she had it they would freak out. Renato tells her that he will show her how to use it and that no ne has to know she has it, Aldi agrees to keep the gun and Ren gives her some shooting lessons-where did he learn to use a gun?! After the lesson Aldi tells Ren she needs to go into town to see her uncle and he offers to take her.

Dominga and Mel talk about what a disappointment E-man is, they thought he was a good catch for Lola and someone who could take care of her when they were "gone"-*eyeroll* how about getting her an education so she can take care of herself, hmmm?

Aldi has a heart to heart with Padre J, she tells him that Cris confessed that he still loves her and she kissed him because she still has feelings for him, she also feels bad for Val because Aldi would hate for someone to do to her what Cris did to Val, she also is clear to state that even if Cris wanted to have a relationship with her it would never work out. Padre J agrees and tells her any relationship between the two would be doomed and follow her like the curse that followed her mother.

And now the moment we have all been waiting for:Valeria gets dumped:

Val and Cris are out in the town square, she has a box that's full of wedding invitations, she wants to deliver them as soon as possible so that people can start to reserve their seats. Cris tells her he wanted to spend some time alone with her so they could talk, but Val keeps going on and on about the wedding until Cris snaps and tells her there wont be a wedding! She's all like "excuse me?", Cris tells her he cares about her and she's an important person to him but their relationship is not going to work. She tells him he just promised that he loved her and he says that they are together out of habit not love. Val asks if this is because of Aldonza and when he does not reply she slaps him, calls him trash and storms off. By the way, she has a wimpy slap, if the actress wants to have a long life in telenovelas she needs to work on her slapping skilzz.

Humberto and E-man chat, the Doc wants to know what happened at the party and E-man explains, for like the 50th time that Mari kissed him! The Doc wants to know what E-man is going to do and he says that he ios going to retire from love because he just can't get it right, Humberto asks E-man if he still carries a torch for Val and E-man says no, he has no idea when or how it happened but he no longer feels anything for Val, the doctor is happy to hear it.

Just then Val walks in crying, Humberto and E ask what's wrong and when she does not answer Humberto goes after her, he tries to figure out what's wrong but she wont tell him, finally Pru comes in and Val spills the beans: Cris broke up with her! He left her for Aldonza! Prudencia says that Cris wont make a fool out of Val, he will marry her or they will sue him....ummm, okay, good luck with that lady. Humberto tries to keep them calm and says Val is getting ahead of herself in regards to cris and Aldonza, Val says she asked Cris if Aldonza was the reason he was leaving her and he never denied it.

Cris goes to see Padre J and asks about Aldonza, the Padre is not happy at all with Cris, he reminds him that he asked Cris to leave Aldi alone and Cris answeres that he loves Aldi and why should he keep his feelings quiet? Jeronimo looks like he's going to have a stroke, he tells cris he is about to marry another woman! cris tells him the weeding is off and Jeronimo freaks out more, he says everyone will blame Aldi for the breakup and tells Cris that it's not fair to do that to her and "trample" her.

In other news, Cande finds out about the breakup and Sev's all like see this is what you get for throwing a stupid party and then Candy is all like "dude you have no proof it was my party that did this". Humberto tries to talk sense into his wife but that's not gonna happen and finally Joaquins wife is a major harpy and no one wants to work for Joaquin because no one wants Aldi back in town, entertain me in the comments, I'm on my way to the ER with my sister and I'm gonna need something to do! I'll fix typos in the am!

Screw the recap, are you and your sister ok?

I can't believe you got this up in the midst of whatever is going on! It's fabulous, by the way...the "Satan's spawn" dig cracked me up, as did "the moment we've all been waiting for." Not gonna lie, I cheered.

I'm confused, though...I thought she wanted to marry him no matter what. So why did just just give up and start screeching at him. She threw all her hard work out the window instead of just calmly asking to talk about it, or trying to postpone the wedding instead of calling it off.

And getting pissed at him for not answering if he's breaking up "because of Aldonza" is ridiculous as well. That's not a yes or no answer. I'd say it's a "I'm not in love with you, but I didn't realize it until I saw Aldonza again" thing.

But, hey, I'm not complaining. Anything that pisses off Val and Cande is ok by me.

As for Emmanuel...poor guy! Everybody's asking him what happened, but nobody wanted to listen, except for Humberto. I think he was going to tell Lola that he has feelings for her. And I wish he'd just gone ahead and done it so they could start over. I'm glad he finally realized he's not into Val anymore.

Ditto what Kat said-are you and you sister ok?

A great recap and I had to laugh at your opening line.

Completely with you on E-man. He just can't get a break, but he did dodge a bullet with Val.

Back after the coffee kicks in.

My goodness, Eli. I hope all is well with your sister.Sending positive thoughts! Thank you for the stunning recap.

Opening night baseball fight for the TV last night, and I sort of lost, so I have to catch more snip-its later today. Did NOT get to see the breakup scene and I want to see Val's eyes bugging out. Why does she go ballistic...because that's what shrews so. She really has never gotten the memo that you can kill them with kindness. Cande doesn't mentor well does she?

But I wish, again, Cris had the spine and smarts to realize he needs to not throw Allie under the bus. He should have quickly said, No, it's not her that's the reason. Val wouldn't have believed him most likely, but at least try to throw it out there.

Really hate the E-man plot. Do right by Mari? One crappy kiss and the man is supposed to what? Declare undying love? This is the 21st century right? Only plot line so far that is just being stupidly done.

But now that both bro's are free and clear, I still say ROAD TRIP.

Daisynjay

I like the road trip idea, Daisynjay!!

I thought this line was brilliant, Eli:

"Fine, getting drunk was uncool, but it's not like he slept with Mari or knocked up Lola, or beat a baby seal, he kissed a girl (or rather got forced into kissing her) and everyone is acting like he is Satan's spawn-oh ummm never mind, ignore that last part."

BTW-I like the Irma actress, too...but I wish they would lighten up on her eye-make up. She plays the sweet mom of A-holes very well (see: QA)

Accent? I didn't notice the accent. Crap. Have I already deleted my recording?

I am not a gun person, but I was very glad to see Renato being proactive and worrying about Aldonza's safety. Gosh he would make a great yerno. *ducks to avoid being hit by Eli's rock*

Kat-I felt like E-mas was trying to tell Lola he liked her for realz too.

This is probably crazy talk, but I feel like somehow Cris is going to get dragged back into Val's web. Padre wasn't encouraging, and I suspect now that he's actually free, Aldonza is going to get scared and brush him off too. Not to mention Val's declaration that Aldonza won't "salir con la suya".

Ay! Is it time for the next episode yet?

Eli, I will echo everyone else in concern for you and your sister. Please let us know if both of you are all right...

Like Sara, I loved the title." In the hacienda of no love and zero privacy", "I wonder if they have a slam book and weekly meetings devoted to the trashing of all things Aldi" and "Everyone is acting like he is Satan's spawn-oh ummm never mind, ignore that last part" were my favorites.

Excellent!

Val is not insipid. The break up cannot have come as a shock to her. She knows Cris still cares for Aldonza, it was evident at the party, he had eyes for no one else. His enthusiasm for the marriage was nil, his far from joyous countenance was palpable.

daisy, loved your take on Val: "Why does she go ballistic. because that's what shrews do" HA!

Em's very, very bad day. As you noted, the deepest cut was Melesio reaming him out noting he has not only fallen in his estimation but can now only speak of business matters. And Uriel? My heavens, that man is a mountain! Alex/Em is quite tall isn't he? Uriel dwarfed him. A double knock out for poor Em. I do think he is wise though to forgo love for the moment and concentrate on other matters.

I agree Kat, at least he is over Val! That is one small consolation.

I also love Irma who so does not deserve her two errant spawn.

Renato was clearly devastated when he heard Aldonza's declaration of love for Cris. And yes, he handled it well.

The poor Padre. He knows that Aldonza will be blamed for everything - and indeed she already is. He sees the handwriting on the wall - Cris will not be deterred!

Consistently excellent script and acting but even superior recaps.

Below is the comment from David that blogger ate:

Hi, Eli. Thank you so much for your snarky recap.

So, who is sick? You or your sister? Hope everything is okay.

I like that Renato gave Aldonza a gun, but I am bummed out that after only two shots, she is a better shot than I am.

I enjoy you ladies and your rock throwing and mud wrestling over Renato. He does seem like quite a catch.

Loved the break up scene, but it won't last. By hook or by crook he will get drawn back into that morass. By the avances it looks like Vale plays the suicide card? I would say, "Well, whatever you think is right."

Eman is really taking it on the chin, and he doesn't understand what's going on. I like your "road trip" idea. Both Cris and E-man need to clear their heads. As far as 'getting drunk is uncool,' he didn't plan on that. Mary did it, and he was just too inexperienced with alcohol to recognize what was going on.

Humberto, for all his spineless actions in the past, has emerged as a voice of reason and sanity in a sea of duplicity and ignorance.

Thanks again, Eli, and once again, I hope everything is okay after the ER visit.

Thank you, Sara for recovering my comment!!

David

Eli – thank you for the recap. I hope your sister is okay and the ER was uneventful.

♫ They say that breaking up is hard to do ♫ (thank you Neil Sedaka)
So the wedding is off. For now. Yay!

I’m so glad Renato gave Aldonza a gun! Hopefully she will continue to practice and actually USE it when necessary.

Daisynjay – Road trip! I’m in!!!

I think cathyx has already pegged me as the worrywart and it's true.

My current worry is that the PROTAGONISTA has a gun. Standard TN operating procedure requires that she will DO NO HARM. Soooo....

Will someone else get the gun and do harm?

Will our lovely Aldonza be accused of some nefarious deed because she has the gun?

Will I ever make a correct prediction?

I don't think a gun is going to help with Sev. Someone like Abelardo or his skeevy little friend would most likely actually be intimidated by having one pointed at them, but Sev? He'll probably just laugh and tell her to go ahead and shoot. And if she doesn't get him in one shot, that's not going to keep him from coming back later. Dude's cracked. He keeps doing that Hannibal Lecter sniff. The only security measure that's going to work with him is death. Now that she's come back into town, I don't even think she could just leave again. He'd likely track her down.

Um, ok, I'll come up with something cheerier to say on my next comment....

Road trip? Don't you mean...

Bro-d trip!

Sara, my chief worry about the gun is that Aldonza has not had a comprehensive training course in how to handle and use it. I don't think Renato even told her to put the safety back on WHILE THE GUN IS STILL POINTED DOWN RANGE.

I think you are right that there will be some unintended results from having the gun, but perhaps, in the end, it will save Aldonza.

I hope that the caliber is large enough to do some serious damage like a .45 or a 9mm rather than like a .22, .25 or .32, which mostly just wound you enough to make you really mad.

David

Kat - the only thing that can take out Sev will be a stake thru the chest, silver or blessed (by PadJ) or beheading.

Well forgot to say Bullet

I say both, just to be safe. Plus bury the body with a head of garlic stuffed in its mouth.

On second thought, burn it.

Thanks for the GREAT recap Eli. Positive thoughts going to you.

Eli, that recap was awesome!

now no one can keep them apart, bwaahahaha.
Uriel visits E-man and tells him to explain himself and omg, why?! It's not like skanky Mari is 12, she's a grown woman and all they did was kiss!
*eyeroll* how about getting her an education so she can take care of herself, hmmm?

I loved the crap out of all of the above.

Diva - As for Emmanuel...poor guy! Everybody's asking him what happened, but nobody wanted to listen
WORD.

OMG, Renato's present straight up renewed my fight. I was just going to roll over in this mudwrestling and cede to my betters, but now I've gotta try con unas y dientes! I LOVE HIM!!! He is so practical and level headed and concerned for Aldi's physical and emotional well being *Sigh, dreamy eyes, swoon*

Cris, on the other hand, didn't say anything with respect to the fact that now everyone in town is going to burn Aldi at the stake for the golden couples break up (and, seriously, the woman's actually been stoned in the town square, so I'm not sure that's hyperbole). He better take out some space in the local newspaper to explain what's up or something.

Poor Emmanuel! He was definitely about to tell Lola he was on board with their relationship. Now she's jumped ship and Mari's got the wheel! This is gonna be smh worthy for a while.

Flavia - this lady is just not helping herself.

Eli, thanks for that excellent recap. I am sending good vibrations your way)))))

I am very nervous about the gun. When I was 16 , my boyfriend taught me to shoot a rifle as we were sitting on his front porch...he lived in the mountains. When I look back on it , it was a foolish, scary thing to do. However, he and my dad and most of the guys I went to school with all hunted. He often carried his rifle with him when we went for walks in the woods. Yikes, if I found out my daughters were doing that, I would freak out. anyhoo, I think that this gun will only bring trouble and heartache to AL. She will shot someone by accident ..Chris???...or get framed for a murder or shooting if one of the villains finds got Allie Got a Gun.yikes

Time to identify cakes to prove that I am not a robot.

David...teehee..I loved your ''Well, whatever you think is right.'' Yes, the goodbye cruel world card instead of I'm-having-your-baby card.

P.s. My tablet wanted to change "cruel'' to''ecru elk.'' Meh

Cris is a little hard to figure out. I think maybe what it is with him is that he's an introvert, and fairly laid-back, and doesn't get ruffled easily. And he probably thought, based on his parents' example, that marriage was something like a business arrangement. And Val played into that in Spain and kept things calm and friendly...and then the wedding planning started and she and Cande blew it! Suddenly they're trying to make him be social, when that's just not his thing, and Val keeps causing scenes and drama. Aldonza's return was the last straw--she gets his heart thumping and that reminded him that he didn't have to settle for blah. Especially when "blah" was starting to not even look like "blah" so much as "lots of uncomfortable social interaction."

I don't know what he's going to do now, but if he stays true to character, there won't be any drunken serenatas or big gestures. Which I have mixed feelings about. I mean, who doesn't love a drunken serenata? But it just wouldn't suit him.

candy and Severed are going to have fits if they find out that both Mel and Dom advised Chris to ''follow his heart.'' Uhoh There's nothing in that crossbody bag that would save them from the wrath of Candy.

I hope neither one of them is stupid enough to say anything!

In my fantasyland, Dominga and Melesio did it on purpose. He was tired of the normal ranch operations being interrupted and she didn't want to have to cater a second event so soon after the first one.

"P.s. My tablet wanted to change "cruel'' to''ecru elk.'' Meh"

That made my day. It's the little things, you know?

Kat-Spot on character analysis of Cris. Dude just wants to stay home and read. Maybe ride a horse once in a while. He's so not into social status and the responsibilities that go with it.

And I didn't say it earlier, but for Sev

Shoot him in the head with a silver bullt, then behead him, then stab him in the heart with a stake then burn his body on a garlic fueled pyre.

Yep, Sev's just going to have to die before the end. I'd never believe it's over if he just ends up in jail.

My concern with the gun is always that the attacker will overpower the attackee and use their own weapon against them. But the idea that someone will take the gun and commit a crime is it is SO VALID!!! I could see Val, Abelardo, Sev, Cande, Pru, all using it for nefarious purposes.

What is someone shoots Sev and we get a "Who shot JR?" Friday cliffhanger?

I'm ok with Cris being an introvert, I just want to know how he's going to respond to the rumors, for Aldi's sake. I know she "doesn't care" what everybody else thinks, but the town doctor put a caring hand on hers in a restaurant and SHE GOT STONED IN THE TOWN SQUARE. I just want to know that Cris is thinking about these things with a little practicality.

When you put it that way, hellashelle I wonder if Cris is thinking at all! ;-)

Sara---Are you becoming violent?
Sounds like you will be leading the vigilantes.
the gringo

No, I don't think Cris is thinking about what's going to happen now. I don't think he wants to. To him, that's as bad as it's going to get is "people will talk." Because if he admitted to himself that it could get much, much worse, then he'd actually have to think about it. Clearly Cris doesn't watch telenovelas.

I read your recap twice Eli, that's entertainment.

Give us a update on your sis.

"with a mother like her it's a surprise he hasn't started cutting himself to express his inner angst"

Agree Daisynjay, the Emmanuel love triangle is stupidly done but glad it limited to the second tier romance not the leads.

Last time a gun was used, Roberta missed Severiano, and time before, shot Ray in the back.

Aldonza - not telling you stop but is it normal you hold my breast to aim

Val - you mean I slept with my cousin for nuthin

Pru - why don't we get drunk and sue

Emmanuel - I'm sticking with weed from now on

Uriel - look boy, if I say your name is Bob it's Bob

PJ - do you have a thick skull, if you love Aldonza marry Val

Joaquin - here, let me lick it off

Severiano - Cande, Cande, if you got a honey tree you don't invite Pooh

Vanishing comments are still alive and well. I'm not going to start over again. I've had it.
the gringo

Eh, Cris is too pretty to actually have to think!

My sister somehow got pink eye, in both eyes, which came with a bad headache so she had to make a trip to the ER, it's so gross and now I'm paranoid that I'll get it too :/

Aw, Eli, that sounds painful! I think you'll be ok if you keep watching the show. 'Cause "Santa Lucia" and all that. My best wishes for a speedy recovery for your sister!

Only thing that makes me nervous on the gun--as we all know, TN writers like to "echo the past". So do we see a scene where Allie has to shoot and it's throwback to her mother? She winds up shooting, hopefully not killing, someone innocent in stopping Sev. Or is this to redeem where Roberta SHOULD have aimed her gun, and take down Sev at last. Too much of a parallel to Roberta that I can't help feeling we get one or the other.

Ok, Road trip group meets at the patio. I got dibs sitting next to E-man. Rest of the BodSquad is staying put in town, sorry.

Daisynjay

Oy vey. Thanks for allaying my fears about the gun, folks. LOL.

Eli-My teacher self shudders at just reading "pink eye". So sorry for your sister. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

Sorry, Sara! Whatever leads to that gun being fired, I don't think the results will be anything good. Best case scenario, Aldonza shoots Sev dead with one shot...and where will that lead? Cris sure isn't going to thank her for it! And I don't think that's actually going to help her trauma. She's not heartless like that.

You know, Cris doesn't have to have a plan. I'd be ok with an acknowledgement that what he's asking of Aldonza is A LOT and ultimately they'll just have to navigate the process as best they can.

I wish everyone in town had a rumor start about them so they could learn to think twice.

Speaking of which, I continue to be furious with Mari. There's another one who doesn't think about the consequences to the person they care about. I'm not even sure I get her end game; is Eman supposed to suddenly fall in love with her after she assaulted him in public, slapped him and put him in a position that threatens his very livelihood? Man, I wish he would make his apology in front of her whole family and make it clear that as drunk as he was, he was NOT putting moves on her.

I don't think it was smart Renato gave Aldonza a gun, know he didn't need to drape himself all over her for target practice but do acknowledge when they hugged at the end, with an almost kiss, she was heading in for it too.

Renato isn't crushed he is just deaf and gonna carry on proving his relevance to Aldonza while everybody else shames Cris for loving her because it puts her in even more jeopardy. Nope, Severiano licks his chops every time she's mentioned and that dude wants another go. What Renato should have done is counsel her to hire a bodyguard, uh, not sure her funds available, but Denzel Washington would do.

I don't remember all that I wrote in my comment that first posted and then vanished but one thing I said was that Val will not sit down and talk it out, she's not that type of person.

David---We're cursed by blogger.

Eli---I hope the ER has everything under control.
the gringo

Yes tofie!! Aldonza felt a little of the Renato charm...I know she did! Lots of chemistry between them too. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a sudden change of opening credits. Maybe Aldonza standing between Cris and Renato? Now *that* would be interesting to see, too!

hellashelle-May I join you at the "Let's hate on Mary" table?

Sara- pull up a chair and I'll pour you something fruity!

Tofie - Now I feel bad. I'm not trying to shame Cris, I just want to know he's thinking and trying not to be selfish. I mean, we know Val's after him for 1-his money 2-his power 3-his looks and a far way down himself, but he doesn't so his actions are mean on that front. His kissing Aldonza at his engagement party to another woman is also insulting and now I want to know that he's aware that just because he's decided something, things aren't magically going to be ok and Aldie's gonna get the brunt of it.

As long as there's booze in it!

Hellashelle and Sara, if you like, we can switch out the Val dartboard for awhile and put Mari up there. Val's picture is getting pretty trashed up there.

Daisynjay

I recently read somewhere in an article on stress management that you should imagine your problems are on clouds and watch them float higher and higher away until they are gone. I often use it as I see one particular person in my life drifting into the stratosphere. It always makes me grin like a loon. Anyhoo, I think Chris read the same article. Despierta , Chris. Do you even know this chick? Just because you told her that you do not want to marry her does not mean this whole mess is over.

P.s. I'd like a whiskey sour..on the rocks...with a slice of orange and a maraschino cherry....and some cocktail wiennies.

eli..wash your hands A LOT and keep them away from your face. Hope you dodge that pink bullet.

Good idea, Daisynjay! We'll switch out the picture.

Susanlynn-My husband and I go for a walk almost every night and we "share" the day's events with each other. "Share" is my husband's code for "my wife is complaining." I share a lot. He likes when I share. ;-)

Anyhoo. It really helps me to walk and share. It helps me to let go of some things.

Ugh. Got about a gazillion things to do outside, and it's raining cats and dogs.

Can I sit out on the patio with you ladies and cool my heels? I'm pretty low maintenance. Just a cold six pack would be just fine, and I'll bring it.

Mary is trouble, but I don't think we've seen the depths to which she will descend yet. I her dad coming sheepishly to Sev, then throwing his weight around with E-man was funny, and will likely come back to bite him in some way.

gosh, hellashelle, if my barb stuck you, sorry, I should get lessons on how to aim this thing from Renato.

I'm just still firmly in Cris's corner especially now he's broke the engagement and it is because of Aldonza. What's a feller to do? He loves her and I betcha wants to be with her, but nobody, I mean nobody, wants him to be with her, including Aldonza. So, is everybody gonna be ok if she ditches Cris, again, but this time run to Renato's arms (which she so easily falls into). Yes, Severiano raped her and wants to again, but who will be the biggest liar in Liarsville if our screen is filled with Aldonza and Renato smooching? Won't be Cris.

Augh! You guys, I'm rewatching ENDA and I've got to say, it's incredibly difficult to watch a TN without having a patio on which to vent. I"m missing you guys a lot while slogging through it.

hellashelle, ENDA remains one of my favorites.

Yes, it is difficult to watch but the story was riveting and there were several surprising twists. I miss Allisson Lozz.

Sara...Yes, Hub and I do a lot of walking and sharing ,too. Hub says that the more I ''share,'' the faster I walk....some days I am galloping.

DAvid, it is getting gray here right now, and I think that the weatherman has predicted April showers for the next four days. Well, it's not snow.

P.s. Bring a bag of chips.

Cris is just living in a different world from the rest of them. I think the true test of what kind of guy he is will come when he finds out the truth. Will he still be so passive or will he finally get angry at all the lies and manipulations? It makes me curious about Renato, who seems to have easily gotten over his dad cheating on his mom, doesn't have a problem with Aldonza's "revenge" plot, and thought a weapon was a good gift. Somehow he comes off as less sheltered than Cris, so I wonder what he's seen of the darker side of life, because I don't think catching his dad with Roberta is where it started.

You know, you can smooze over to the table and throw a few darts as long as...well, maybe can you share a brew? I only have an old half bottle of wine I can bring right now. But I can whip up some guacamole if anyone has a taste for it.

What I'm waiting for is to see which mother, and heaven help us, it may turn out to be Cande, connives with Val to come up with some awful plot to get Cris and Val back together.

If it's Cande, she's beyond hope. She may not a killer, but I still think she understood full well what her darling hubby did to Allie, and to condone that takes a special kind of anvil. I will gladly clean the patio to see the Padre J just ream her a good one and condemn her if he finds out so was playing the role of Lady MacBeth during that time. Coming from the man of her dreams would be perfect.

Oh crud, it started raining again here too. Hate commuting in the rain.

Daisynjay

Susanlynn, I'm bringing Ruffles so we can dip them in the salsa I'm making.

Daisynjay, I put the six pack back in the fridge, and I'll bring a cold case.

David

We are expecting rain here as well and I walked to work, FML,lol

You're my hero David!!

We may need some "reinforcement" watching the fallout from Cris' " yeah, about that ring? Mom made me do it. I don't wanna anymore."

Daisynjay

About the missing comments, blog mom said in a post about the spam comments are coming more often so she had to raise the security on the comments and that some will be put in moderation for a bit. So they may appear later.

Thanks Eli for a great recap. I'm with everyone else hoping all is well at home, please update us.

The comment moderation is different from the spam blocker. Recappers have no control over the spam blocker, but any comment that someone tries to post more than a week after the recap goes up now has to be approved by the recapper. That should work for a lot of those spam posts where they hit a bunch of really old recaps at once. We'll still be SOL when they post on brand new ones.

I'm thinking that Eman will get fired because he won't want to continue with Mari and maybe go to work for Aldonza?

The avances looked interesting. Valerie learned how to put her whole body behind a slap.

I had gotten spam while the comment section was still in progress, and we can get rid of them. The recapper has the ability to do it. At the bottom of the comment, the recapper will see a trash can. They just need to click on it and it will disappear.

Chris seems to be sleepwalking through life. I like a proactive galan, or at least one who does not seem as if he is in a trance. Renato , on the other hand, is
Senor Proactive. There are some dangerous folks around you? Hey, here's a gun, and I will give you a ten-minute tutorial. You have some plans ? Let me help. I'm a lawyer.

It's really too bad Cris came to his senses after he gave her the ring. Technically, it's a gift and she has no obligation to give it back. And she probably wouldn't want to, just to be spiteful. And I wouldn't want him to give the same ring to Aldonza, when the inevitable happens. At the same time it seems like a shame, just because it's an heirloom.

Cris was different when he first came home and met Aldonza. He had some fire in him then. A few years of Val seem to have extinguished it. Which is ironic, given how Val likes things hot.

Yes, recappers and the BlogMom can delete comments after they've been published, for spam or spoilers typically. This is the first time we've been able to keep them from being published in the first place. I just wanted it to be clear that that's only happening with comments on posts that are more than 7 days old. I don't want anybody thinking that has anything to do with the disappearing comments--that's the spam blocker provided by Blogger which we (recappers) don't have control over.

Cris was different and more sure of himself, especially with Aldonza but that was before she dumped him, ran away and blocked him on facebook with no explanation. He was heartbroken, ran to Spain and drowned his sorrow in Val ultimately. He's tried to speak to Aldonza but everybody blocks him, even Renato tried at the party. Now he's free and PJ gave him a big no. Renato, on the other hand has complete access, to woo her at will.

All the novelas have been trying to deny the existence of the Internet for so long that "blocked him on Facebook with no explanation" is striking me as particularly funny.

there are some that deny the existence of cell phones

Have we seen many on this show? I imagine Prudencia racks up quite a bill, boozing it up of an afternoon and watching kitten videos. You know she totally watches kitten videos.

I'm glad that they do have cell phone in this one, but they are not having the young characters use them as they really do. They hardly use them at all.

That was my thought when Adelina was wondering why Aldonza wasn't at the house yet--why don't you call her and find out? And I definitely think we're missing some sexting from Abelardo to Val...uh, which I'm ok with missing, that's totally fine.

I may be the only one here who thinks this, but I think the actor playing Abelardo is cute. I can see why Valerie wants to play around with him. Just fun, no serious relationship. (I'm ducking now)

Is it the bad-boy thing? The psychedelic cat t-shirts? The between-the-sheets stamp of approval from Val? (He had to have SOME skills....)

Well I for one had to kiss some lizards before I found a prince

Too true.

I'm not talking about his character, I'm talking about the actor playing him. But I can see why Val wants to play with him, she's kind of a slime ball herself, and he's not bad looking.

Agreed. Way better looking than his character.

hi my name is Nina, and I'd like to make a comment: when you said you'd fix the mistakes in the morning one of them you can leave it the way it is. when Chris went to see Padre J and he told him that the wedding was over and you misprinted weeding, I think you had it right idea girl because val is just like a weed around Cris' neck. you could leave that the way it is. it's never a good idea to marry someone you don't love you'er in for a world of trouble. and he's got enough trouble with his pushy mother and his skirt chaseing father. Nina!

Nina, you're so right...weeding is the right word!

Ha, thanks Nina, I never would have caught that!

That was a good one! Nice to see you here Nina!

Aldonza reminds me of Y&R's Sharon Newman: gets blamed by everyone for everything!

as soon as candy came in the church and started yelling at Aldonza I knew a slap was coming and it was a loud slap and I was wishing aldonza would slap her back like she did the first time when she came to her house and slapped her in front of her mother.aldonza slapped her right back.these people really love to slap. I'd like to see somebody slap the crap out of Sev he is such a slimmy person.

I'm sorry I forgot to put my name on that last comment, I'm Nina I'm the one that was talking about the slapping in the church. Nina :-)
