¿Qué nos cuenta, Caray, Caray!? (November 23, 2015)
In this week's edition:
It's a holiday week in the US which means some potential pre-emptions. La Vecina (afternoons) does not appear to be airing on Thursday. The Univision evening schedule looks like business as usual: Muchacha Italiana Viene A Casarse (7pm), Antes Muerta Que Lichita (8pm), Pasión y Poder (9pm), and Yo No Creo En Los Hombres (10pm).
Telemundo, on the other hand, looks like they won't be showing any of the usual telenovelas on Thursday, but keeping to the usual schedule the rest of the week. The Telemundo y Más post will probably have more information. Check them out for recaps and discussions of Celia, Preciosa Perla, Bajo el Mismo Cielo, and Señora Acero 2. UPDATE: Preciosa Perla is ending this week. Look for Vivi's comments below for an excellent summary of the show replacing Preciosa Perla, "Qué culpa tiene Fatmagül?"

Project Gimme Back My Feeds continues! This weekend, we updated the feeds for:
and added feeds for
Talk about a trip down memory lane! I really am going in reverse chronological order, by the date the show last aired/the last post. So since Paula H covered the re-airing of La Fea Más Bella in 2010-11, that bumped it up on the list, despite being one of the earliest shows covered by Caray, Caray!
If you have any technical issues with the blog...broken links, something on the sidebar or the pages in mobile not working, etc...please contact me.
UPDATE: Our feeds are cutting off at 150 entries. This appears to be a problem on Google/Blogger's end. This will primarily affect anyone attempting to access the earliest/oldest posts on feeds with more than 150 entries. I'm keeping an eye on the situation and hopefully this will turn out to be a temporary glitch. I'll keep you posted.
Your turn! Got any community news? Recommendations for shows, movies, music, or books that may appeal to your fellow telenovela fans? Proximas news? Let's hear it! (Remember to keep it spoiler-free and gossip-free.)
Enjoy your week!
Also looking forward to the Gran Hotel remake. Hope its going to be good!
Mauricio, yep, that sounds about right!
It is a tn from Turkey, aired in Turkey in 2010, and dubbed into Spanish. The plot:
Fatmagül (Beren Saat) is a humble, lovely young woman who lives in a coastal village and herds goats with her brother Rahmi. She is engaged to be married to a young fisherman named Mustafá (Fırat Çelik), who is building their house for when they marry. In the town they live in, a marriage ceremony is set to take place between Selim, the son of an influential businessman, and Meltem, the high society daughter of a businessman and politician. During the wedding celebrations, Fatmagül meets Kerim (Engin Akyürek), and he falls in love with her at first sight. Later during the celebrations, Kerim, along with his three friends, the groom, Selim, his cousin Erdoğan, and Vural, get drugged and drunk and encounter Fatmagül. Kerim blacks out, and the other three rape Fatmagül, who passes out. Later, the other three unite to accuse Kerim of the rape, and Kerim and Fatmagül are forced to marry to erase the shame from both of their families. Kerim and Fatmagül must then fight to find the truth of what happened that night, and learn to love and trust each other.
I looked on Wiki and the novela/series replacing it only has 80 episodes, so it won't be on for long, at two hours a day.
On a completely different note...
I attended the US debut of Opera Joven last night. It was a fusion of classical music and traditional Mexican music sung by some amazing vocalists. Half the concert was done with piano accompaniment and half with (be still my heart) Mariachi Luz de Luna from Tucson. Many of the songs were familiar to the audience, and we even joined in a few times, on "Cielito Lindo" and "El Rey" ("llorar y llorar...."). Right now, they have 2 more performances scheduled for Phoenix, and I don't know if they have plans to visit anywhere else in the US, but if you get the opportunity to hear them, I highly recommend it.
