La Verdad Oculta EP103 02/10/2011 – Bromance is in the air

or: The Three Musketeers ruined the Grinch’s wedding

*Fausto quickly explains his slip of the tongue: Mario wantED David and Gaby to marry when he got known she was his daughter. Gaby can’t stop weeping, she’s so confused, she doesn’t want to meet and talk with Don Mario again, who’s her father… and her father-in-law in the meantime? Cheerful Julieta arrives at home and Gaby tells her she isn’t Fausto’s daughter and they are half-sisters. The male version of Adela Noriega starts to cry heartbreakingly again. In the meantime Abelardo and David are talking about Gaby and Mario on phone. She’s a strong woman, she’ll get through this tough time. At Guilléns’ Julieta is devastated but Gaby promises nothing will change, they are sisters and Fausto remains her real daddy.

* In Michoacán Jorge advises to sad Dora’s sadness and advises her to return to DF. But she’s so afraid that the police would oblige her to testify, and Adolfo would accuse her of false testimony. And mark her words: Adolfo is a very bad man! In Mexico City Gaby arrives at home and tells David she needs to be alone, she can’t talk with Mario yet.

* At JJ’s the newlyweds introduce surprisingly humble Carlos to understandably suspicious Asunción, who looks daggers at him and he’s very amused at Carlos’s apology to Juan José. JJ believes Carlos’s regret is true but he defends Limón, too: Asunción instinctively knows who’s good and who’s not, therefore it depends on him if they are going to trust Carlos or not. Then put him to a test, says Carlos. Does JJ want him to kill his father? Adolfo would deserve that! JJ seesm to like the idea, Mommy Ale and Brother Asunción look very worried.

* After being encouraged and consoled by Dr. David, at last devastated Gabriela and her anxious daddy-who-impersonates-her-biological-daddy have a very moving conversation in the study. The tortured girl reproaches “Mario” for not helping her mother, but FaustiMario tells her by that time he didn’t even know Marta was pregnant. He loved her and if he knew she was pregnant he would’ve never left her! By the way, Fausto is her real father, he’s the one who raised her and took care of her. “Mario” apologizes and asks Gaby not to be mad at David, he always begged Mario to tell her the truth.

* In the neighbouring house Mommy Ale tries to convince the hothead boys that they shouldn’t take justice into their own hands. Talk with Faidella! No way, Carlos and Juan José know there aren’t enough proofs against Adolfo, however, they could pressurize him. Since they don’t have Dora’s letter, the boys ask Alejandra, aka the only woman in the house to write a fake one. Ale hates the idea, and she’s already outraged at the news that her silly sister is going to marry Adolfo, but she agrees to help them. While she’s writing a new letter that says it was Roberto and not Carlos who killed the maid, the boys decide to visit Adolfo in the evening. After Carlos leaves, Alejandra tightly hugs Juan José: she’s so worried about him, she doesn’t want him to be imprisoned again! Don’t worry, mi amor, don’t worry… in the prison… There are conjugal visits.

*David and Abelardo are talking about Gaby and Mario when Blondie gets a phonecall from his fellow musketeers and he runs to meet them. Alejandra calls Bertha to scold her for her marriage plans and to make her change her mind, but her efforts are pointless: Bertha wants to get married with Adolfo’s money and psychosis.

* Adolfo’s and Dante’s Weekly Evil Mastermind Meeting at Sagitario is interrupted by the three reckless, vengeful and… well, handsome musketeers. When the old men try to mock and insult them, JJ knocks out and disarms Dante, then threatens them with a gun. Oh, sweet justice, Adolfo and Dante look just as frightened as their victims. JJ throws the letter on the table orders Adolfo to set Elsa free. Dolphie tries to play the tough guy and scare the boys off with insults, but the musketeers swear he will end up in jail.

* Bertha and Jimena talk about Adolfo’s intentions, Carlos and the ugly quarrel between father and son. Yes, she loves Carlos but one can’t live on love. Adolfo shows up at Yolanda’s flat without invitation and orders her to calm idiot Carlos down. He and his little friends attacked him at Sagitario! But anyway, Adolfo’ll marry Bertha and disinherit Carlos. Yolanda tries to defend Carlos’s interests, but Dolphie tells her it isn’t her job. And look at the letter those idiots gave him! He’s supposed to believe it is the original one, but it couldn’t be, it would’ve been too easy. Victoria would’ve never given him such an important letter just to help his little friend. Anyway, tell Carlos if he ever tries to tell the truth to the police, Adolfo’ll ask David to order an audit, and believe him, there are many financial anomalies in the bookkeeping… which is supervised by Carlos! Never. Ever. Mess. With. Adolfo.

*At JJ’s Mommy Ale is very angry at the musketeers, especially at Juanito for attacking Adolfo and for being so content about it. *Viewerville: we agree with you, Ale, but you should’ve seen Adolfo’s face* She understands his anger and frustration, but he can’t break the law to take vengeance on Adolfo! He has to use his pumpkin brain and think about the people who love him, too! But no, he doesn’t understand her. Or he doesn’t want to understand her, which makes Ale very nervous. At casa Genovés David tells skeptical Gaby that Carlos is on their side from now.

* In Michoacán Dora tells Jorge she’s going back to DF, and Don Jorge, the knight in the shining store decides to accompany his friend. Next morning Carlos and JJ do their best to convince David that they have to pressurize Adolfo, who was so frightened last night, and while David agrees with them, he thinks they should be very careful because Adolfo is way too dangerous. Gaby enters the study and tells them Don Jorge came to talk with David. While Blondie learns from Jorge that Dora is all right but she doesn’t dare meet him in person, in the study gloomy, serious, smoking Carlos is telling gloomy, serious, smoking Juan José that he’s really changed, he’s ashamed of himself because of the sins he committed. At first surprisingly calm JJ gives him a hard time and tells him about his mother who’d died before he left the prison. Moustache is ready to give his life to help JJ clear his name, and JJ believes him. By the way, to his knowledge Carlos doesn’t have a job. Does he want to work as the manager at the restaurant of Mirador? *Viewerville and Carlos: wtf?!* Grateful Carlos gets VERY excited: Juan José, let me hug you!!! What? Wait, no, man, wait, no! No!!! When amused David enters the room he politely asks the hugging men if they want to be alone together, then he tells them about his new plan. He wants to ask Dora to write another letter (this time without a signature), in which she tells it was Roberto who killed the girl.

* While Bertha and Jimena are having great time and spend mucho dinero in the shopping centre, Don Jorge gives Dora, la Escritora the money David sent her, and she agrees to write a new letter. *Viewerville: it was high time, Dorita* An hour later the boys are reading her report in the study and try to figure out how they could convince Adolfo that the letter is original. Abelardo advises them to use her employment application at Mirador which was written by her. All they have to do is to change Dora’s name on it, but Adolfo will know the letter is written by a person who used to work in Mirador.

* The two old goons are sitting in tne condo, and while ill-looking Dolphie is swallowing his medicines, they are talking about the boys’ visit at Sagitario. Adolfo: man, you looked very afraid! Sevilla: oh, STFU, Adolfo, you were pale as a ghost! Dolphie gets a phonecall from very sassy JJ who tells him to check his fax machine, they’ll send him something he’ll surely like. When Adolfo reads the letter and the application, he gets paler than before and quickly puts them into the safe. Outside a dozen guests are waiting for him and his beautiful fiancé, but before they could get married he gets a heart attack. Adolfo! Adolfo, what happened to you?! Adolfo! *Viewerville and the Musketeers: gimme a high five!*

La Verdad Oculta #102: D'Artagnan joins the three musketeers

Spooked Bertha escapes to the powder room after Adolfo's marriage proposal -- and while there discovers a fine wristwatch left behind on the counter top, reminding her of what it would mean. Carlos visits Yolanda at home, where she anxiously makes him promise before she will explain her ordeal not to endanger himself by harming his father.

Carlos can hardly believe what she recounts of the kidnapping Adolfo masterminded. Back at the restaurant, Bertha returns and agrees to Adolfo's marriage proposal after he explains it will be platonic and essentially to disinherit Carlos and leave everything to her. Her eyes pop when Adolfo slips a heavy diamond rock on her finger.

Back at Yolanda's, she confounds Carlos by excusing killer Édgar as redeemable; and when she explains affectionately the role of the kids, Carlos amazes Yolanda revealing he knows what the infamous letter is about -- that it shows his guilt as accomplice in the maid's murder and Adolfo's cover up.

Juan José brings his bride to a lovely wedding night supper at the Mirador, where they have the entire serenading orchestra to themselves. Up at Yolanda's, Carlos is just exiting as Leonardo enters, and they two agree to meet later. Alone, Yolanda explains to Leonardo about maid Juanita's call and hopes she will call again.

Carlos arrives home to find a condo empty of Bertha; he phones her cell and Alejandra to find her to no avail, so he runs out again. At the Mirador honeymoon suite, Juan José surprises Alejandra with a celebration of red, the color of romance, with a path of thousands of red rose petals and lovers' feast of red fruit.

At Adolfo's, Carlos enters furious in search of Bertha -- where Adolfo nastily throws in his face their impending marriage, Carlos's disinheritance and firing from the Sagittarius all in one big bomb. Adolfo's shouting Carlos is nothing to him -- not his son; while up above anguished Bertha suffers at this ugliness.

Carlos doesn't care about the money or the job, but is not letting Bertha go and begins bellowing for her -- because he loves her! Ber-tha! Ber-tha! Carlos charges up the stairs risking Adolfo shooting him, just when Bertha runs to the railing, sobbing and begging Carlos to leave, because she is indeed going to marry Adolfo.

Stunned Carlos gulps air and writes them both off as he exits, leaving Adolfo looking evilly satisfied. A few moments later at Yolanda's doorstep, distraught Carlos collapses into her arms, weeping like a baby. He explains what happened, wracked with pain, that Adolfo and Bertha have completely destroyed him.

Yolanda consoles him that of course Adolfo is his father and he his son; and when wretched Carlos cries and appeals heavenward asking why his mother had to die, Yolanda is moved to reveal a life changing fact: his mother was actually Márta Saldivar. Sobering Carlos exclaims -- the woman Adolfo murdered!?

She's surprised and stunned to learn David told Carlos that story; and when she frantically denies it, Carlos suddenly loses patience with her part in everything and writes Yolanda off, too -- and exits, shouting he's alone in life! Completely alone!

In abject tears, Yolanda immediately phones and rouses David from a dead sleep to beg him to call Carlos and deny the story was true. Something awful could happen between him and Adolfo! David agrees and rolls out of bed, placing the call to Carlos in his car, where David retracts his story, claiming nobody truly knows who killed Márta.

Next morning, Gabriela's abusing Santiago on the phone for attempting to leak out of meeting together with Mario and her to finally tell the truth. A moment later, down in the office Abelardo phones recalcitrant Santiago concerning a plan David has cooked up.

In the Mirador parking garage, Juan José and Alejandra are just entering their car when they look up warily to see a deadly serious Carlos approaching them. He's tired of Adolfo treating him worse than dirt and come to inform Juan José he's ready to testify in his favor and help clear his name.

When he explains Roberto murdered the maid and his father covered it up to protect Carlos's complicity -- and that now, however, Adolfo's betrayed him and Carlos wishes to repay him in kind, Juan José quickly invites Carlos to follow and talk with him.

Abelardo visits Santiago at home pursuant to David's plan, while at David's hotel office he sets up a conference call supposedly among Gabriela, Santiago and "Mario." At Santiago's he takes the phone and plays both roles, but quickly reverts to himself at Gabriela's excruciatingly probing questions about the truth.

Apparently, Santiago can do on the phone what he can't do in person and breaks down almost immediately to explain in pitiful sobbing that his adored daughter is not really his child! He confesses she's the daughter of Mario Genovés and hangs up, falling in a heap to the sofa and weeping, with Abelardo consoling him.

On the other end, frantic and upset Gabriela learns from David that what Santiago told her was the truth, whereupon she hyperventilates and faints dead away onto the office sofa. Across town on the other side of a holding cell, a federal prosecutor throws Elsa into a panic reading the charges against her.

Despite her agitated denials, the prosecutor drones on in disregard accusing Elsa of being in league with her brother, as distressed Mauricio looks on together with his legal counsel. Out on the street in Adolfo's car, he congratulates Édgar on framing Elsa and orders him to lay low in the warehouse.

Zaida has gone to the beach house; and Adolfo will grant Édgar his fake identity travel papers only if he completes a second half of the job: clearly Édgar is in contact with Susana, who knows too much; and Adolfo wants proof of her death -- real proof, and not some lame cover story this time.

Back in David's office, he frantically rouses Gabriela from her faint, who immediately begins sobbing; and he must explain the secret of Mario's paternity wasn't his own secret to tell, which doesn't satisfy her much. But he can assure her Santiago kept it secret out of love.

In a restaurant, Adolfo -- restored to his usual evil humor -- and Dante gloat over their successful frame-up of Elsa and plan what's next. They're going to run the archeological scheme out of the beach house, where Zaida is already ensconced. They're feeling optimistic, and Dante offers his help in any problems Adolfo might still have.

Gabriela enters the door at Santiago's in tears, and the two of them embrace and settle in for a momentous conversation. Meanwhile back at the jail, Mauricio reveals what Ulises told them, implicating Édgar. But they're not out of the woods, if Ulises is viewed as Elsa's accomplice -- and she could be behind bars for months!

Santiago explains to Gabriela the truth of his and Mario's relationship with Márta, that Mario's a good person who didn't know about the baby and couldn't leave an ill wife. When he points out Gabriela and David are equal heirs and that Mario wanted nothing more than the two of them to marry, Gabriela looks at Santiago sharply.

What does he mean -- wantED?

La Verdad Oculta EP101 02/08/2011 – The Grinch stole the wedding, Elsa’s freedom and Carlos’s girlfriend

* Shocked Adolfo smiles at Édgar and admits the Psycho Boy did a good job. Now please tell him, what does he want for the informations he knows? Édgar wants fake documents and money to leave the country for good and all. Okay, but first he has to obey Adolfo’s orders.

* At dinner the enthusiastic members of the Victoria household are talking about the upcoming wedding. At first humble Lucha doesn’t want to attend it since she doesn’t have elegant dresses and they all know what Chicles is like, but Juan José manages to persuade her.

* Julieta, Leonardo and Fausto spend the evening together, and daddy is very happy that his little girl and the super cop reconciled at last. In the middle of the conversation they get a phone call from Gaby who’d like to know if they are going to attend JJ’s and Ale’s wedding. As usual, Fausto doesn’t want to leave his precious flat, he says he needs to relax. Julieta accepts his decision but she makes him promise that he will attend her wedding.

*After a long day’s shopping, Alejandra and Abelardo have a nice conversation about the wedding, Juli and Leo, and Abelardo, who knows everything about the people who ever set foot in the Casa Genovés. Then she calls Bertha who’s very happy to hear her voice again. Has Ale forgiven her yet? Not yet. But Bertha misses her! So does Alejandra, that’s why she called her. She’s going to get married next day, and would like her to attend the wedding. Bertha is glad for them but she doesn’t dare meet Mario, David, Gaby and Juan José again… No, it’s better not to attend it.

* At Sagitario Carlos gets a phone call from Juanita who asks him about Yolanda. No, unfortunately he doesn’t know anything about her either. Anyway, thank you. Bye. One and a half second later he gets another phone call – from Yolanda! She’s in her flat and she wanted him to know that she’s well. Carlos tells her Juanita called him and Yolanda gets excited. Juanita has a few things that belong to her, she needs to meet her!

* Next morning everybody is preparing for the wedding in the lovely garden of the casa Genovés. Juan José introduces everyone to everyone, Chicles is making trouble (as usual), Lucha is trying to discipline him (as usual), David is calming JJ’s nerves down in the garden, and Gabriela is calming Alejandra’s nerves down in her bedroom. David meets the famous Caramelo, and immediately falls in love with the little girl, who promotes him to tío and tells him that he’s very handsome. *Viewerville: David, it’s high time to become a daddy*

Everyone is ready, let the wedding begin! The utterly anxious and happy couple manage to get married without too many accidents (dropping the pen a few times doesn’t count). The music is beautiful, the newlyweds and their friends are celebrating and almost everything is perfect… Until an uninvited guest shows up. Adolfo came to talk with David, who, que sorpresa, can walk again! It’s a miracle! And the dead man is alive and he has just got married! These are truly wonderful news. The spiteful and victorious Grinch humiliates and insults everybody, makes Juan José and David rage and destroys the decoration, and then he finally leaves.

* In his car the Grinch purrs like a content cat after eating the canary, and calls his good old friend Déborah to ask her for a favor. In the Genovés study the outraged men try to find out how to defend themselves from Adolfo and how to defeat him. Leo mentions the precious cuff-links/ rings and tells the boys that Carlos gave David a real one. That’s impossible, says Fausto, Adolfo swore he had two real ones! Then it means there are three trefoil rings: two real and one fake and most likely Dolphie has no idea that Carlos had a real one. The question is who changed them? No, it couldn’t be Carlos, it must’ve been someone else who’s very close to Adolfo. Ramón calls Leo to report about an anonymous call from the United States which informed them of the whereabouts of a few smuggled diamonds. They are hidden in a fishbowl… in Elsa Rivera’s flat. That girl again?! Leo tells the guys Elsa’s in trouble again then he leaves.

*The fishbowl’s lonely inhabitant reproachfully looks at Viewerville, he doesn’t like the shiny new things in his home. But unfortunately it isn’t Elsa who finds the diamonds first, but the bunch of confident cops who immediately arrest her again. The devastated girl swears she’s innocent and begs Ulises to call Mauricio as soon as possible.

* At home Adolfo calls nervous wreck Zaida for Juan José’s phone number and promises to give her shelter at the seaside villa. In the meantime worried Ulises calls Mau to tell him what happened to poor Elsa. He’s sure she was framed and… He notices that the keys for her flat are missing, and puts two and two together. It was Édgar!

* Adolfo’s evil master plan enters stage two: he calls Juan José and politely tells him he wants to negotiate. There’s a letter in JJ’s house hidden behind a mirror. If he gives Adolfo the letter he’ll set imprisoned Elsa free. Oh yes, she’s accused with smuggling again and she’ll spend 15 years in jail if JJ doesn’t obey Adolfo.

* At the special department of the police Ulises, Mau and his lawyer try to convince a very serious and strict cop that Elsa is innocent, she was framed by Édgar, who stole the keys last night and put the diamonds into the fishbowl. However, the cop isn’t impressed with Ulises’s story and he thinks maybe he made up everything to help Elsa. Maybe he’s her accomplice!

*At AFI Ramón tells Leo he investigated after the van Roberto drove the night he murdered Mario Genovés, and it was Marcos Rivera’s. Duracell Bunny is so content with Ramón’s work that he wholeheartedly congratulates him. That was the best investigation at AFI and Leo will recommend Ramón’s promotion! *Try to remember these sweet moments, Ramón, when you’re woken up in the middle of the night or when your lunch is interrupted by Duracell Leo.* By the way, boss, Juan José Victoria wants to talk with you. The big guy tells Leo about Adolfo’s call and proposition. The Grinch obviously doesn’t know about the mattress, he thinks the letter is still in JJ’s house. This proves that Elsa has been framed, says Leo, and Adolfo took advantage of her situation. Qué? Her brother is a smuggler and she hide him once. Yes, says JJ, she helped him because he’s her brother and he saved her from being raped, but she hasn’t done anything else. That’s interesting, says Leo, but this information can’t help Elsa, she’s the suspect of a very serious crime. The pumpkin on JJ’s neck starts to fume.

* In their bedroom Gaby tells David what Mario told her about his relationship with Marta and she keeps worrying about Adolfo and the business meetings she’ll have to attend in the future. But don’t worry, David will return to his office where they could work together. Gaby loves the idea. A horny married couple together behind the closed doors of an office… That sounds great. Sexy sax time again. In the neighbouring house Alejandra’s head is about to explode: she hates Adolfo Ávila! JJ cheers her up and tells her they are going to have a special wedding night in their hotel.

* Adolfo calls Bertha to apologize for his ugly behaviour and to invite her for dinner. He misses her much, he wants to give her the bills of her car and they keys for her apartment, he’d like to make her the happiest woman on Earth, blahblahblah. For five seconds Bertha’s brain works and she says she’s afraid of him but Adolfo swears he would never her hurt again. All right, all right, let’s meet. An hour later in a restaurant Adolfo tries to convince skeptical and cautious Bertha that he’s the nicest man on Earth. He didn’t kill anyone, actually, it was Mario who killed Marta, he isn’t a smuggler, and of course he didn’t kidnap those children. Then he drops the bomb of bombs: he’s old and lonely, and he wants to spend his last years with a lively and cheerful girl. Bertha thinks he should reconcile with Carlos, who’s a good boy, and who’s his only son. But no, Adolfo plans to disinherit that ungrateful bastard. That’s unfair! No, it isn’t. His wife is going to be his only heir. Bertha. Will you marry me?

La Verdad Oculta #100: Red Herring in Elsa's fish bowl

At Mario's, jubilant Alejandra and Gabriela leave for the salon for Alejandra's wedding coif; but not before Gabriela disconcerts "Mario" over desiring an important conversation with him. Back in Édgar and Susana's room, he shocks her with news that during her coma not only was Roberto poisoned but that Garnica disappeared.

Édgar warns they shouldn't be seen together and he needs to allay suspicion by returning to Adolfo, whose orders to execute child hostages he disobeyed; thus Susana decides Édgar's basically a good person. At Adolfo's, enthused Dante is swooning over bringing high rolling Americans to their illicit archeological dig.

But Adolfo's subdued and presses to excavate more first, leading Dante to draw back and wonder at his tentativeness. Adolfo's sick and tired, so Dante offers him a pep talk recounting his meteoric rise to success and power. Still Adolfo feels all his bad deeds are coming home to roost and drag him under.

He's had success, but at a cost; and his sadness surprises Dante, who attempts to give misery company by acknowledging even though Dante repaid the jewel amount, he's still under investigation. And he's always admired Adolfo's strength to weather storms few others can. If they unite, they will emerge victorious.

Leonardo visits Yolanda who eventually simply explains what happened during the kidnapping. Though she never imagined Adolfo could do such a thing, Leonardo certainly did. And she reveals Chicles slipped the letter into the mattress of the missing maid, whose address Yolanda doesn't know. She agrees to ask Adolfo about it.

In Susana's room, her head still isn't working like it ought to; and suddenly she regrets confessing everything to Édgar. But he notes Susana also knows his secrets, which together can save their lives; so when Édgar requests she part with one of the diamonds to carry with him to Adolfo's, Susana agrees.

At the salon, Gabriela and Alejandra girl-talk, with Alejandra reassuring Gabriela no one is hiding things to hurt her -- right up until Gabriela asks whether someone has revealed things to Alejandra, and the stylist conveniently breaks in to change the subject.

In Mario's office, worried "Mario" discusses with Abelardo his intention to reveal only part of Márta's story during his inevitable meeting with Gabriela, leaving out Mario's paternity, her rightful heritage of millions, and that Julieta is only her half sister. Abelardo assures him little by little she will understand.

On their return, Gabriela enters Mario's office, while excited Alejandra rejoices with Abelardo on her upcoming marriage; he happily offers to plan their small celebration. Inside the office, "Mario" brings Gabriela up to date on part of Márta's story, including he was then married and she was murdered by Adolfo.

At Adolfo's condo, he just barely believes Édgar's failed execution story; but after considering the freak accident of Roberto's poisoning, decides he's just having a run of bad luck. Later Dante phones Adolfo with a plan to make Elsa a red herring to divert suspicion from them by framing Elsa for the jewel theft.

At Elsa's, Mauricio's counsels and soothes her that it's logical Caramelo would stay with the person who raised her; and surprises and delights her with the notion that a baby of their own could take her mind off this -- no, wait, how about FIVE babies? And this time she introduces the magic word, "marriage."

She takes a call from Caramelo with news of Juan José's wedding, and Elsa soberly explains she will return to "auntie" status. When Elsa confesses the sad thing is they are trying to take the child away, Mauricio thinks she's just confused and changes the subject by inviting her to dinner; and they share a warm embrace.

When Édgar makes a second apparently personal visit to Ulises to surreptitiously lift Elsa's apartment key again, Ulises gleans the understandably wrong impression and tries to make a little time with Édgar. He steals the key, and Ulises messes with Édgar's mind by not letting him exit without a kiss -- and then by kissing his hand instead.

Moments later upstairs, Édgar empties a small bag of clear gemstones into Elsa's fish bowl and exits. At Alejandra's architectural studio, she first teases Mina and then reveals with squeals that she's getting married the next day.

Adolfo visits Yolanda at home, and she claims she didn't report him, which so far appears the case to him. But she's incredulous he could be so sick as to execute children. They don't even have the infamous letter; what is he going to do, break into Juan José's house and check all the mirrors?

Yolanda recounts her story of their escape -- with the important difference that Édgar told them to run and left the keys. She confirms the thugs attacking him as they left, but Adolfo can't believe he'd be so stupid. Yolanda asks about maid Juanita's belongings, but he impatiently denies knowing and exits quickly.

Back at the architectural studio, Mina is just toasting Alejandra's upcoming "Mrs." -hood, when Juan José enters and calms his bride's wedding plan jitters with reassurances. At first Alejandra refuses to invite Bertha, when Juan José asks; but then she agrees to think about it at his noting Bertha's her only sister.

Adolfo makes Édgar sorry he returned by viciously jumping him with a revolver at the back of his neck the moment he appears at the condo. Adolfo's unhappy with the lame coverup of Édgar's disobedience. But Édgar thinks fast and bargains information about the diamonds for his life.

He's just about to spill the story when he pulls the single diamond given him by Susana out of his pocket, amazing Adolfo.

La Verdad Oculta 99: Sleeping Beauty and the Beast

Mini Summary: The gang at JJ’s celebrate the return of the kiddies; no one calls Elsa; Yolanda spends the night at JJ’s but sneaks out early in the morning; JJ asks Ale to marry him tomorrow and she accepts; David tells Gabi just enough truth, and gives her plenty of loving, to keep her satisfied (for now); battered, bruised and broken Edgar becomes roommate to an awakened and recovered Susana at the hospital; the hospital calls Edgar’s only phone contact- Adolfo, who finds an unconscious Edgar; Elsa takes a hard look at herself, her attachment to and jealousy over JJ, and her treatment of Mauricio—she decides she wants Mauricio in her life; the kiddies share their tale of kidnapping, Yolanda and Edgar with the gang and Leo; Caramelo gives Yolanda a promotion to Tia, and demotes Elsa to Tia; the writers give us an easy way out of this custody nightmare by having Caramelo choose to live with the newly solidified family at JJ’s (new mommy and all); Elsa accepts this, but does not accept being bullied by Dante and his goons; Edgar convinces Susana to team up with him to hide from Adolfo’s wrath—they leave the hospital before Adolfo shows; Leo throws Adolfo off his game by taunting him with his latest failed attempt at assassination (it was a guard that was killed by Hernandez, not JJ); Susana fruitlessly searches her apartment for the money and the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter diamonds; at their hotel hideout, Susana tells Edgar all about the money acquired from selling THE LETTER, and shows him THE PICTURE, THE SHOES, and THE DIAMONDS.

Full Recap: Limon has lost consciousness and his wig, and JJ has lost the power of speech, at the sight of the two beaming kiddies, safely delivered to the front door. They are both soon joined by joyous Lucha and Ale, and the kids and adults join together in happy hugs and kisses. Limon reminds Ale of the power of faith. From now on, she’s a believer! This giddy scene is interrupted by the entrance of Yolanda, who lets them know that she came with the kids. Caramelo elaborates further by telling them Yolanda was kidnapped (fue secuestrada) with them. Ale introduces Yolanda to everyone as a friend of her Tio Mario. She is immediately invited to sit down and to eat, and asked if she needs a doctor for her head wound. She takes a seat, turns down the offer for a doctor, and since Chicles already took the two lady-folk to dinner, she is only in need of a bath. They gladly offer her the bath facilities and convince her to also spend the night, with much urging. Lucha is so happy to have her little scamp back that she promises to never scold (regañar) Chicles again (we’ll see how long that lasts). Caramelo moves Yolanda to tears by declaring her to be Tia Yolanda for how well she took care of them during the ordeal. Chicles also thinks Edgar deserves props, leading Ale to wonder what Edgar they are speaking of. They all shoo away the bad thoughts to once again celebrate the return of the kids.

It would be nice if they actually thought of spreading some of that joy on to Elsa, because she is spending a sleepless night of regret and worry. Luckily, she has Kindhearted Ulises to share her woes. Woe #1: Her heated argument with Ale, when what happened to the kids could have happened to anyone. She realizes that her rage (coraje) had to do with feeling that Ale stole JJ from her. Woe #2: JJ was never hers to begin with. He never loved her. Woe #3: Mauricio The Wonderful came into her life, helped build her confidence in herself. And what does she do? She kicked him to the curb. (mandar al diablo/send to the devil) She’s so stupid! She’s done everything wrong. Woe #4: Her little girl is missing, and what if they don’t find her?! She can’t even think about it or what might be happening to her. Ulises thinks she’s having one of those moments, when she’s at a crossroads of confusion and regret thinking about her life. He thinks it’s best if she goes to bed to get some sleep, and pray to San Jose for a miracle. The next thing she needs to do is to stop being stupid about Mauricio. In addition to being an absolute babe (bonbon), he’s also a good man and he loves her like crazy.

Ramon, who is really burning the candle at both ends, calls Leo from the office. They’ve identified the two corpses found at the kidnap site- Pablo Cantu and Luis Delgado (aka Ears). They used to do business with Felix. And their fingerprints appeared on Ale’s car, so they for sure were involved in the kidnapping. All most likely under the orders of Adolfo.

At the hospital Pretty Eddy, who isn’t looking so pretty at the moment, has just been wheeled in to Susana’s room at the hospital. She obviously doesn’t recognize him with his face swollen to twice its normal size and black and blue. Two doctors are attending to the pretty patient who was comatose until recently. They are pleased with her recovery. She gets released tomorrow, but has no friends or relatives to pick her up.

At Adolfo’s, he and his partner (socio) Dante have just come to an agreement. Dante will go see the girl tomorrow. Just as Dante leaves, Adolfo receives a call from the hospital. They found his number in the phone of an unconscious man- around 35 years old, black hair, strong, formerly handsome… Adolfo knows who it is, but says it’s the relative of one of his servants.

Back at Elsa’s, she has not taken Ulises advice to go to sleep, but she has taken his advice to stop being stupid about Mauricio. She calls Mauricio and asks him to accompany her to JJ’s the next day to find out if they’ve learned anything new about the kids. She’s dying of anxiety over the kids and can’t sleep. Mauricio tries to calm her down and asks if she wants him to come over. She turns down the offer since it would be too much to ask of him, but she still wants him to come with her tomorrow. Mau wonders if she just wants him to come with her because she doesn’t want to go alone. She brings a big smile the big guy’s face by telling him the reason why she wants him to come is because she wants to see him.

At the hospital, Adolfo is trying to figure out what happened to Edgar and making sure the police haven’t been brought into the matter. As he talks to the nurse and a comatose Edgar, Susana trembles in fear on the other side of the curtain, recognizing the familiar evil voice. He tells the nurse that he’ll be back tomorrow to transfer him to a private hospital. (Either Eddie will get the same private medical care as Felix, or he’ll be joining Garnica on that “aquatics team.”) A while later, the nurses gossip about the poor man and his injuries- multiple fractures in his arm, and bruises all over his body. And how’s Sleeping Beauty? ( La Bella Durmiente) She’s awake, has all her faculties and no permanent damage.

At Casa Genoves, David and Gabi are showing us that just because you’re married, doesn’t mean you can’t still bring the sexy. They bask naked in afterglow under the sheets. Gabi is promising she can keep a secret, if David tells her all. She wants him to have confidence in her. David decides to tell her a bit more about the plan to foil Adolfo’s plans to kill JJ with a fake hit (asasinato falso), and that’s what he, JJ, and Leo were celebrating when she called (he leaves out Fausto/Mario). Never one to be satisfied with sketchy details, Gabi starts to ask more pointed questions about the whos/whats/whens/wheres/and whys. David puts a halt to her questions, asking her to just trust him. And he has no idea who the mystery woman who has been calling is either. He doesn’t have “amigas”; she’s the only woman in his life. Gabi wonders if it could be a former girlfriend. David doesn’t know and doesn’t care. He’ll speak to whoever it is next time. What he does know is he loves her with his whole soul and he doesn’t want to be with anyone else, he simply can’t. He only wants to be with her. They get back to married couple loving.

At JJ’s it seems that the phone actually works, because Ale is speaking to Leo and telling him about the return of the kids and Yolanda’s involvement. Your recapper is too angry at our two otherwise lovable protagonists to share in their joy about the return of the children, or to really care about JJ’s proposal to Ale get married the next day. She says yes. I’m done with this scene. (Ok, Ale also said some stuff about the guilt killing her, loving Cara and wanting to be her mom.)

Early the next morning, Tia Yolanda sneaks out of the house. And at the hospital, Edgar has woken up from his drug induced sleep and getting news of his injuries from the doctor. He’s obviously in a LOT of pain. On the other side of the curtain, Susana is being discharged and given back all the items she came with, including THE PICTURE and THE SHOES. She clutches the precious shoes to her as the nurse advises her to wear flip flops instead. The doctor joins in. High heels like those are a no no for someone in her condition. She could lose her balance. In addition, she will likely have occasional lapses in memory, but it’s normal. She needs to take it easy and do her rehab exercises, until her body and mind fully heal. Back on the other side of the curtain, Edgar’s doctor tells him about Adolfo’s visit and that he’s coming back today to “transfer him to a private hospital.” Edgar doesn’t like the sound of this and decides he needs to leave, NOW, broken bones and bruises be damned. He tells the doc that he’s got a cousin who’s a doctor who can care for him at home. The doctor wants him to at least make a statement to the police about the guys who beat him up, but Edgar refuses. All he needs are his anti-inflammatory and pain meds prescriptions.

Yolanda returns to her condo and heads straight to Juanita’s room to search the mattress for THE LETTER. She is shocked to find not only the mattress missing, but all of Juanita’s things.

Back at the hospital, Susana get’s discharged just as Edgar is being dressed and put in a sling by the nurse. He finally sees her face, recognizes her, runs after her, and catches her just before she catches a taxi. He hobbles up behind her, scaring her, but convinces her to get into a taxi with him right away before Adolfo arrives. If Adolfo finds them, he’ll KILL them! They pull out just as Adolfo pulls up. He is shocked to find out from the nurse that Edgar already left.

At JJ’s, the whole gang is up, dressed and has visitors—FaustiMario and Leo. I’m guessing there was plenty of time to call Elsa. They explain about Yolanda disappearing before daybreak. FaustiMario is sure Adolfo must be threatening and controlling her, and Ale marvels at how some women will still stick to a man who harms her. Caramelo thinks Yolanda is good peeps (buena gente). The two kids tell Leo the whole story of the kidnapping from the beginning, horrifying the adults with all the scary details. Chicles gets to the part about Edgar letting them escape. Ale thinks it’s a miracle that Edgar, although one of Adolfo’s men, let them escape. They all argue the point about whether someone like that could have good in them.

In the taxi Susana explains how she ended up in the hospital. Edgar tries to talk her out of going back to her apartment since he’s sure Adolfo is on their trail. She insists she has to go to pick up a few things.

The doorbell rings at JJ’s, and the kiddies as usual run to answer the door (haven’t these adults learned anything?). Elsa and Mauricio are shocked to see Chicles answer the door, and even more so when Caramelo leaps into Elsa’s arms a second later. “Como estas chiquita?!” After Caramelo assures her she’s well, a royally ticked Elsa enters the house and wants to know why they didn’t tell her the children were back. JJ looks like he can’t be bothered. Limon tries to act like all it all just happened and they were about to call her. Chicles chooses the wrong moment to start a 100% honesty policy and calls out Limon on his lie. He announces to Elsa that they arrived last night! “Do you think I’m an idiot or what?!” Ale jumps in and says they were all just so excited (emocionados) that they forgot to call her. (Thanks Ale. That makes it all better.) Elsa responds with sarcasm- “Oh, that’s totally understandable. Of course!” Caramelo looks up at her- “Please don’t get mad tia.” This pushes Elsa to her limits. She accuses the Insensitive Gang of influencing Cara to start calling her tia again. JJ doesn’t try to smooth things over, instead he tells Elsa that Caramelo will no longer live with her, but instead will live in HER HOUSE, with HER FAMILY. When Elsa says she’s her mother, JJ yells at her that she’s NO ONE’S mother. He and Ale are getting married and adopting her. Elsa throws his ex convict status and inability to adopt in his face. Mauricio decides to jump in to diffuse the situation. He asks JJ to let Elsa take Cara tonight and then tomorrow they can talk about it calmly. Since everything that comes out of Mauricio’s mouth, including common sense, sounds like a threat to JJ, he goes after Mau and yells at him to butt out. Leo holds JJ back from getting physical with him. “This business is between me and her (Elsa)!” Mauricio says he’s just trying to find a way for them to deal with this in the most just/fair way. (There he goes talking that common sense to JJ again. He should know better by now.) Remember that Elsa has the legal rights over Caramelo, even if you don’t like it. JJ doesn’t like it, so much so that he wants to break Mau’s face. Leo holds JJ back as he yells at Mau, Ale starts yelling as well, and Leo shouts them both down to calm themselves. Caramelo goes over to give her Tio Limon a hug and tells her Tia Elsa that she doesn’t want to leave him. This is music to Limon’s ears. “What did you say my love?” “I want to live here with you. I don’t want to be apart from my Tio Limon. I want to be with him always!” She also wants to be with the whole gang who live in the house. JJ looks at Elsa smugly, as she clings sadly to Mau. Mau tries talking common sense again and tells Cara that she has to live with Elsa because she’s her mom (Social Services would likely agree with this). Elsa stops him and graciously says to leave her. If she doesn’t want to live with me, so be it. When she leaves, JJ and the gang act like they just defeated the Evil Witch of the West. Ding dong the witch is dead. Cara is the only one who has remorse that her Tia Elsa left being so sad. Well she’ll just have to get used to it because you’ll be living here with us! Cara wonders if this means that Ale will be her mama. Limon loves this idea! (Could it be because Ale will be living in the same house? If she wanted to live somewhere else, without Limon around, he’d change his tune.) Happy, happy, joy, joy!

At her police sealed apartment, Susana discovers that the money and the butter diamonds have been taken. “Me robaron todo!” (They stole everything from me!) Her shouts bring the landlord who is none too happy to see her. She accuses him of stealing her money and her butter. He didn’t touch anything; it was the cops and he’s going to call them now to tell them she’s returned. Edgar tries to hustle Susana out of the apartment. When the landlord tries to detain them, he gets a swift whack to his family jewels from Eddie’s cane. He’s left rolling on the floor in agony as Edgar and Susana flee.

Adolfo is scouring the newspapers for news of last night’s hit on JJ when he is interrupted by a call from Leo. “What the hell do you want?! Make an appointment with my secretary!” Leo needs to talk to him right now. In fact, he’s in his house. “Que?!” He opens his office door and is greeted by the stern face of Leo.

Mauricio drops off Elsa at her door. She asks to be alone so she can think about everything that happened. Mau looks a bit put out, fearing he’s getting the cold shoulder again. Elsa asks him to have patience with her one more time. It’s just that what happened with Caramelo really hurt her. He knows. That’s why he wants to be with her to support her. But he doesn’t want to be taken for granted and ignored. She admits she has been self centered (egoista) in the past and taken advantage of him. But she loves him and she wants to be with him. She touches his cheek. Right now she just needs to be alone. He agrees to leave her alone, but he’ll be in his office if she needs anything. He goes in for the kiss on the cheek, but newly bold Elsa changes the trajectory and plants a firm smooch right on his kissable lips. They are in the midst of being transported by this kiss when Ulises interrupts. He’s happy to see the pair reunited.

Adolfo, however, is not happy to see Leo. This is harassment! If he doesn’t have a warrant for arrest or concrete proof, then he’s going to bring Leo up on charges of abuse of power. Leo’s not bothered. Proof is steadily coming to light. Adolfo still thinks they’ve got nothing on him. He’s not going to fall for these pressure tactics that they learn at the police academy. Unless Leo has an order from a judge, he needs to beat it. Leo’s ok with that. He just came for a social visit. He makes his way out, but then turns back to Adolfo. If Adolfo is looking for news of JJ’s murder in the papers, then he’s wasting his time. “Victoria no esta muerto.” The one Hernandez killed was a guard. Now they’ve got him in questioning and he mentioned a guy named Edgar Lopez, who he believes works for Adolfo. He used to work for the Genoves and is the prime suspect in Roberto’s murder. Adolfo plays dumb. He doesn’t know the guy. Leo goes on. This Edgar escaped from the cops after the attempt on JJ. Speaking of JJ, he gave the police the address of the location where two bodies were found. These same two were the ones who kidnapped two children from Ale’s car. “You don’t know anything about this?” Adolfo has had enough. He orders Leo to go. Fine by Leo. Soon he’ll have the pleasure of seeing Adolfo in jail.

Dante is at Elsa’s door with his two goons, outnumbering Elsa and Ulises. Ulises has her back as she tells Dante that she doesn’t want to talk to him and orders him to leave. He convinces her to talk to him, and Ulises to leave. Ulises says he will be in his apartment, but instead he sticks close by listening on the other side of the door. Dante wants to know exactly what Elsa told the cops. She defiantly tells him she told them the truth about what happened. That he had her sell jewels that didn’t have bills of sale, although he told her they did. He calls her stupid, since the problem was easily fixed with him giving the clients back their money. Elsa doesn’t know why he’s coming to look for her. The one who should be upset here is her, for him having involved her in something so disgusting (asqueroso). Dante doesn’t think he’s responsible for dragging Snow White through the mud. He’s done some investigating and found out she has a brother in jail for murder and smuggling. He’s sure she has the same criminal tendencies in the blood. Elsa tells them to get the heck out. Ulises senses the moment is getting tense and springs back into Elsa’s apartment. He threatens to call the cops if Dante doesn’t leave. He and Elsa stare them down as they exit. “Shoo shoo shoo.” Ulises begs Elsa’s forgiveness for having connected her with Zaida for the job. She tells him not to worry about it.

At the hotel Edgar explains that he’s hiding from Adolfo because he didn’t do something he ordered him to do. He has her order his meds though room service, since it’s too dangerous for her to go out. She will be his life line, and he swears he’ll protect her. He’s not going to hurt her. Now he wants her to explain the money and the butter.

At Casa Genoves, Ale interrupts Gabi and David’s meal with the happy news of the return of the kids. She then shocks them with the news of Yolanda and Edgar’s roles in the whole drama. Anyway, she has to head to the beauty salon, because JJ wants them to get married tomorrow! Gabi jumps up and gives her cousin (unbeknownst to her) a congratulatory hug. Ale convinces Gabi to come with her. They run off leaving David.

Back in the hotel, Susana has just given Edgar his shots, using her nursing aid experience from the States. Now it’s time to spill the details. She tells Edgar about the 1.5 million pesos that was in her bag, but hesitates. Edgar once again begs her to trust him. She begins the tale, detailing how she found Dora’s letter, then the photo of Gabi and the connection to the shoes she is wearing this very moment. Edgar’s still not getting the importance of all this. Then Susana takes off her shoe and shows Edgar what’s inside. Huge, sparkling DIAMONDS! Edgar is speechless.

La Verdad Oculta EP98 02/03/2011 – “Either he cheats on me, or he has become a metrosexual”

or: The Comedy of Errors meets Fight Club

* Leo tells Juan José that Adolfo wants to get him killed. JJ isn’t surprised at him but when he hears the words “special protection” he intensely disagrees: he doesn’t want to hide like a coward! Daddy Leo, Mommy Ale and Bro Limón are trying to convince him when David, Abelardo and FaustiMario show up and tell them that Fausto has an idea how to solve the situation. *Viewerville: The members of the Stupendous Six are in the same room at the same time? Beware, the universe may collapse.*

*In the evening Dora tries to call David but when Gaby answers the phone she freezes and stays silent… Which drives already jealous Gaby crazy. You’re David’s girlfriend, aren’t you! I tell you one thing: David is married and I’m his wife! In the Ávila condo Adolfo, Édgar and Hernández (whose constant sniffing and throat clearing grosses both Viewerville and Adolfo out) discuss the details of the assassination. Although David is wired and the supercops are listening to the conversation, when anxious Adolfo grabs him they lose the signal and Blondie has to cope with the devil by himself. The plan is simple, David and Édgar go to JJ’s house, Ugly David shoots Victoria, Eddie helps him flee. But there’s a problem: Adolfo wants him to use Eddie’s gun, however, fortunately he manages to get his gun back. He’s about to leave when Adolfo asks him an important question: he haven’t told him yet what he wants in return for the job. Don’t worry, smiles David, it’ll cost Adolfo MUCH.

* At JJ’s the two overaged teenagers watch Fausto, the Renaissance Actor in awe, who turns a glass of goo into fake blood. JJ is head over heels for the opportunity to play an action hero again.

A few minutes later Ugly David and Eddie on a red bike arrive at the house; Hernández, El Macho pulls his gun and Die Hard 5: The Experimental Theatre Edition begins. Ugly David confidently breaks into the house. Gunshot. Eddie looks content. Three more gunshots. Eddie looks very content. Ugly David sacredly runs out of the house. Eddie looks worried. Bloody yet bloodthirsty Juan José follows El Feo with a gun and shoots at him! Eddie launches the bike. JJ should be already dead yet he keeps shooting at his attacker! Oh, sweet tragic heroes. One last shot. Far away police sirens sound up, Eddie gets nervous, but finally the second worst amateur actor collapses! That was enough, Eddie flees without looking back. David takes a deep breath and tells JJ he can get up… But the big guy doesn’t move. Uh-oh. Commercial! We’re back. David almost gets a heart attack, Dios mío, Juan José, are you alive? Of course, he is. JJ stands up laughing and the joyous boys hug.

* In the meantime Chicles, as usual, is complaining about being hungry and Caramelo is worried about being forgotten and being locked up forever. Yolanda calms the frightened little girl down. Back at the Ávila condo Édgar reports to Dolphie what happened, who’s very content for having a capable employee for a change. And now it’s time to take care of the others… Since Victoria and his damned letter aren’t a threat anymore they don’t need the children. Get rid of them. Congratulations, genius, you’ve just lost your best henchman.

*At JJ’s the boys have a victory party with mucho champagne, enthusiasm and bromance hugs. Unfortunately Gabriela calls David, who can’t convince her he’s still at work. The other men laugh at him, then JJ gives him love advices. By the way, JJ can’t leave the house for a while and David isn’t allowed to meet Adolfo again either. Does that mean el comandante Sniffnández will disappear? Yes, for a while. *Viewerville: at last we can get rid of our earplugs* Leo is sure that Édgar knows where the children are so the police will follow him. Yes, that’s what Ramón and a bunch of police cars are trying to but they are so awfully lame that Eddie easily tricks them.

* While David is removing his make-up, enthusiastic Fausto and JJ are talking about their dreams: Fausto would love to be an actor again and JJ wants to get married, raise Caramelo and a bunch of children and sell his own furniture. David promises Fausto that everything will be fine and his dreams will come true. In the meantime Eddie and his gun arrive back at the hideout and freak the hell out of the captives. After the Head & Shoulders commercial Zaida shows up and learns from Eddie that Adolfo gave him a very special order. She has to stay while he takes a trip with Yolanda and the kids.

* At home Fausto tells Julieta he spent the night with his friends, then the Guilléns talk about her perfect fiancé whom they both love. Gaby shows up and tells her sister about the make-up fiasco. Either he cheats on me, or he has become a metrosexual! Her anxiousness makes Julieta suspicious at Leonardo, what if he, Dave and Fausto had a party together? Five seconds later both sisters become pugnacious shrews, who are very pissed at their galanes... and their dad. Speaking of dads, when Adolfo visits his little son at Sagitario, disgusted Carlos tells him he’s very ashamed of him and he’s fed up with him! He will send him to prison! Adolfo, as usual, is amused at his anger since he knows Carlos doesn’t have any proof against him.

*When David arrives at home and tries to hug his little wife in the kitchen, Gaby lets her frustration loose: she forgave him for the wedding and his stupid errors, but this time… Oh, Gaby, he and Leonardo were working on a plan against Adolfo! Call Leo and ask him! Is he really telling the truth? And what about the make-up? Is he doing something, hmm, strange? It’s time for David to prove her he’s a straight man… On the kitchen table. Sexy sax time, one happy couple.

* Adolfo shows up at the hideout where he learns from Zaida that Édgar and the captives left. When he tells the woman he ordered Eddie to kill the children she freaks out. Poor, naïve, innocent Leonardo arrives at home and decides to visit his sweet girlfriend, who gives him a huge slap when she discovers David’s make-up on his coat. One unhappy couple.

* In their bedroom Alejandra is worried about Juan José’s well being. He’s too crazy and reckless, he could’ve been killed by Édgar! However, JJ manages to take her mind off the problem, and tells her he really wants to marry her. Two happy couples.

* Sevilla visits Adolfo to tell him he has serious problems and he needs his help. Thanks to Zaida and the girl she introduced him the police are after him! When Adolfo tells Dante he isn’t interested in his pathetic problems his old friend reminds him of the letter and their promising seaside project. Oh no, the two devils team up again.

* Eddie takes the poor kidnapped captives to a dark, deserted alley where he tells Yolanda Adolfo ordered him to kill the kids. However, he’ll let them go if Yolanda hits him with a brick. This is the only way he could convince Adolfo they escaped! But poor Yolanda can’t do it and she thinks Adolfo wouldn’t believe them either! Eddie notices a gang of goons showing up at the end of the alley and shouts at grateful Yolanda and the kids to get into the car and flee! Thank you and God bless you! Eddie lets the goons beat him up brutally and ruin his face but pulls out his gun and scares them off before they could kill him.

*In the car Yolanda tries convince the children Édgar knows how to take care of himself and now he’ll bring them home. However, the tank is almost empty, oh no, they’ll never get home. But don’t forget, Chicles still has the money Zaida gave him, therefore they can buy fuel. In the meantime a policeman finds our Psycho and sends him into hospital.

* The doorbell wakes Asunción up who rushes to answer it, and Juan José rushes after him trying to stop him. Asunción, Asunción, stop, it may be a trap! When the old man opens the door and he sees the smiling faces of the children, he immediately faints. JJ can’t believe his eyes either. Ay, Virgencita! Los niños!

La Verdad Oculta #97: Pumpkinhead in the cross hairs

"Hernández" explains he took a bullet in the leg, promises to wait for Adolfo's call and exits the condo. In Michoacán, Jorge reiterates to Dora she's going to wind up dying alone and with an innocent man on her conscience; and though she's conflicted, he doesn't even chip her stubbornness.

Leonardo visits Juan José and angrily busts him for the stupid armed stunt at Adolfo's; but it's a revelation that Juan José knows the kidnap hideout -- and found it empty and covered with blood. They're heading straight there. Back in Michoacán, Jorge enlists a young woman to covertly call David for Dora.

At the recently vacated hideout, Leonardo tensely orders blood, finger prints and any scrap of evidence examined. At a public phone in Michoacán, the young woman calls Mario's house incognito to learn from the maid David's health and relieve Dora's mind.

Distraught Alejandra visits Juan José, and Asunción and Pancha witness from around the corner her abject torment over the disappearance of the kids. Across the way Gabriela learns disconcertedly from maid Ramona that a girl called David. Back at Juan José's, Asunción apologizes to Alejandra for having been hard on her.

Alejandra surprises and delights everyone with her fervent wish to adopt Caramelo when all this is over and she and Juan José are married. Back at Mario's, due to Gabriela's penetrating questions, Abelardo has to lie to her that the Campo Real covert communications are hidden in a truck out front like in a movie.

When Abelardo reveals this lie to "Mario" in private, Santiago still refuses to let Gabriela in on the disguise, insisting he has so little time in the role left. "Hernández" visits Adolfo at the condo and presents the crooked cop's disgraceful rap sheet as evidence of his sincerity, claiming powerful friends secured his prison release and reinstatement.

"Hernández" wants vengeance against Leonardo; he says he likes money, too -- and Adolfo should set him a test if he doesn't trust him. At Mario's, "Mario" can't escape before Gabriela corners him with her doubts that supposedly covert David runs all over town with his cell phone turned off and now he has a girl calling him!

Back at the condo, Adolfo forces "Hernández" to remove his jacket against the suspicion of wearing a wire, which he isn't; and he asks why a cop isn't wearing a gun. Gabriela sped to Santiago's and admits to Julieta her fears David is fooling around. Back at Adolfo's, "Hernández" claims he's not there as a cop; rather an ally.

So Adolfo agrees to set him a test to prove his trustworthiness; he'll receive a call from one of Adolfo's men. Santiago arrives home to a hornet's nest named Gabriela, won't satisfactorily answer, and exits again in a huff with Gabriela on his heels. Downstairs on the sidewalk, they meet Leonardo & Co. entering.

Leonardo awkwardly introduces "Hernández" to Gabriela, who's looking markedly askance at the newcomer. The men abandon her there and exit up to Leonardo's. At Juan José's that evening, he comes downstairs to find catatonic Alejandra huddled on the floor, hugging Caramelo's toy. He can't interest her in anything.

But he, Asunción and Pancha try to get her to eat. Back at Leonardo's, he reiterates that David needs to continue the ruse to save the kids and trap Adolfo, despite his hatred of Adolfo and fears Gabriela will suspect him and think he's fooling around. And also despite David's revelation Adolfo plans a test of loyalty -- where he must kill someone!

Upstairs, Gabriela grouses to Julieta that it seems her dad and Leonardo are great koffee klatch pals; not to mention that new dude with them who looks like a killer more than a cop. She doesn't want to think about the fact that after all the trouble they've had, now it looks like David might have a girlfriend!

In Juan José's kitchen, Alejandra still won't eat Pancha's delicious looking soup and steak, but gratefully considers grasping the lifeline Asunción offers by way of joining them at church. Being there will make them feel closer to God and their spirits more in tune to pray for their loved ones, he counsels.

Across the way in Gabriela and David's bedroom suite, things get worse and worse when David calls her familiarly "Gabi," which she notes he never does -- and what's next, a bouquet of flowers? When he admits he was actually going to bring flowers, she exclaims he'd better bring a whole wreath of them!

David's denying all her accusations and about to calm her down just when Gabriela notices a big stain of makeup on his collar -- and cracks him a smart smack in disgust. He can only weakly claim it's his own makeup. Next day, Adolfo phones "Hernández," who's in the covert van, with the details of the meeting and warns if he doesn't show, he's toast.

Leonardo assures David they will be backing him up the whole time. At church, the four kneel to pray; with Pancha promising to go easier on her son, Asunción to deserve Caramelo more and make her proud, Juan José acknowledging his impotence despite wealth and bravery, and Alejandra bidding God's protective mantle cover the frightened children.

On the street in front of Adolfo's condo building, it turns out the man "Herández" must meet is none other than former security chief Édgar -- and his prospective mark is Juan José Victoria! Back outside the church, the sun shines and banishes storm clouds above the four supplicants who are now ready for a miracle.

In his home office, "Mario" can only ineffectually deny Gabriela's proof of makeup on David's collar; but he manages to convince her to wait and see. She exits as David enters and then Abelardo; and the three quickly connect the poisoning of Roberto to Édgar when David excitedly relates who his contact at Adolfo's turned out to be.

And not only that: the person he's supposed to assassinate is Juan José Victoria!

La Verdad Oculta EP96 02/01/2011 – Lesson of the day: never mess with Pumpkinhead, Psycho Eddie, Mina and the Genovéses

* After a short panic attack Gabriela pulls a Hermione Granger and explains Adolfo and the business partners what synergy is, and when shocked Adolfo (This thing has a brain? Really?) tries to continue the meeting FaustiMario saves the day with a fake migraine. In the meantime worried Elsa calls Juan José who tells her the story of Alejandra, the mall and the tires. The kids were kidnapped? Yes, it seems so.

* A very outraged *Viewerville: yet handsome* psycho tells Adolfo what kind of violent losers he hired to do the dirty job. They tried to hurt the kids and they hit Yolanda! Look, Eddie isn’t a saint either, but he would never manhandle children, actually, his sons are the same age as those kids. Adolfo, who also gets angry at the news orders Édgar to get rid of the losers. But be careful, Yolanda and the children mustn’t notice what happened!

* Mauricio gives Elsa a lift to Juan José but first she wants to speak with Alejandra. She storms into the design studio to scold the woman who was stupid enough to leave the kids in a car, which leads to an ugly quarrel between her and Mina, who fiercely defends her best friend and kicks Elsa out of the office.

* While David, FaustiMario and Abelardo are proudly praising Gabriela’s intelligence and wits in the Genovés villa, at the other end of the town Ramón and Leonardo are talking about Hernández, the corrupt cop and the newest cunning plan that may bring Adolfo down.

* Half an hour later in the tunnel house David, Fausto and Abelardo are talking about Alejandra and the tragedy that just had happened to Juan José, when the supercops show up with a photo of Luis Hernández and Leo tells David his great idea: he should play the cop for a few days in order to get close to Adolfo. Abelardo worries about David’s well being, since Adolfo is an intelligent and unscrupulous man, but Leo keeps asking David to consider his proposition. This could be a great way to defeat Dolphie.

* Édgar arrives at the hideout with a string and a very determined face. However, judging from the laughs and the disgusting conversation of the goons, he’s already late. But he doesn’t lose his nerve, he hides… and waits. Alejandra tells Juan José on phone what happened in her office. No, she isn’t upset, Elsa was right. Speaking of Elsa, she’s just arrived at JJ’s and they discuss the curious case of the tires and Ale’s mental abilities again… which, not so surprisingly, leads to another quarrel. When Pumpkinhead gruffly tells Elsa she should get off the high horse after being involved in smuggling, the exhausted girl burst out crying. First Asunción tries to comfort her, then JJ apologizes her.

* At the hideout Édgar ruthlessly strangles Ears, and then he shoots Pablo, who’s urinating outside the building. In the meantime Lionheart, Pumpkinhead, Ale and Asunción talk about Zaida and her relationship with Adolfo. At last an adult (Leo, who else) puts two and two together, and explains to the others that the kids must’ve had The Letter and that’s why they were kidnapped. But it’s just a theory. Anyway, he’ll ask for a search warrant for the Ávila condo and Yolanda’s flat and Ale’s car will be analyzed, too. Asunción & co. are completely devastated and Leo tries to ease their pain: don’t worry, they’ll find the children.

* Finally Eddie enters a filthy room of the hideout where half-naked Zaida trembles. The heartbroken psycho hugs and consoles the raped and crying woman, and tells her the goons are dead. He swears he’ll protect her forever.

* While Asunción is crying over that Adolfo kidnapped his little girl, Pumpkinhead decides to play John McClane… again. *Viewerville: double facepalm*He shows up at the Ávila condo in the middle of the night and storms into the bedrooms. Oops, that’s Bertha, who willingly tells him where he can find Dolphie. Okay, let’s try the impressing scene again. Where? Are? The? KIDS?! It takes only five minutes, a huge, crazy caveman, a gun and some shouting to make arrogant Adolfo worry for his life and confess.

However, after JJ leaves, Dolphie calls Eddie and orders him to get the hell out of the hideout. Hmm. Adolfo. You forgot Bertha was standing behind you. What are you talking about? Did you kidnap children?! Adolfo sighs. Yes, yes, yes, but he had to do that. It was about that letter. And she has to testify against Juan José, they could send him back to jail! But sorry, Bertha doesn’t want to do that. Nooo? How dare you! Adolfo slaps his favourite handmaiden and kicks her out of his home.

* Pumpkinhead drives to the hideout hurriedly but he doesn’t find anything but a few bloody rags. John McClane collapses. No puede ser, no puede ser!

*Bertha, who’s still wearing her nightgown and a coat, shows up at Carlos’s flat. Yeah, the damsel is in serious distress. And what happened? JJ. Gun. Kids. Kids? Bertha tells him about the letter that proves Carlos killed the maid and Moustache has a flashback. *Viewerville: hi, Roberto* In the meantime Édgar shows Caramelo, Chicles and Yolanda their new home. He plays the rugged goon but it’s hard to resist those cute kids and Yolanda’s sad eyes. At Carlos’s Moustache is ready to confess everything to Faidella. Roberto killed the girl, but he’s also culpable because he kept his mouth shut! Bertha begs him to forget that idea, he would end up in jail and since Adolfo has the children he would hurt them anyway. Why doesn’t he wait a bit longer? Please, Carlos. All right, all right.

* In the car Leo and Ramón give acting advises to anxious David (just act naturally) and try to convince him he can do it. Of course, but there’s a little problem: David’s spine and legs aren’t healthy yet so he can’t walk perfectly. At the second hideout Yolanda begs to Édgar: she offers her freedom for theirs. He confesses he’s also very worried about the kids.

*The three cops arrive at the Ávila condo where Adolfo is quite happy to see them; at least he can tell them what JJ did last night. Oh, really? The policemen aren’t very helpful and Adolfo has no proof since the maid didn’t see JJ threatening him. Anyway, the boys came to introduce him Ugly David, I mean, Comandante Hernández who will also investigate after the Ávilas. We won’t let you in peace. And one more things: if Adolfo kidnapped the kids he should let them free because kidnapping means 15 years in prison. Just think it over. Bye.

* Yolanda has a cunning plan, too: Eddie lets the kids go, and then he kills Yolanda and tells Adolfo it was all her fault. No way, Madame. Please, Édgar, please! But Eddie just pulls an evil smile and promises her nothing will happen to Cara and Chicles.

* Aaand Adolfo has another uninvited visitor: Hernández El Feo, aka the worst amateur actor ever came to tell him he doesn’t like Faidella at all, and he would love to team up with Adolfo. And how could he trust Hernández? Well, Adolfo could check his files and David gives him a business card. Everything is perfect… But when Hernández is about to leave, Dolphie notices his lameness. Excuse me, Comandante… Did something happen to your leg? *Viewerville: we’d rather talk about synergy, mmkay?*
