Friday, March 9, 2007, Zorro recap, take 2, and action….

It’s my turn to recap. It feels so official now that my name is the side bar. I would like to thank Caray Caray for the invite, google.com for my blogger account and Cablevision because I get to DVR Zorro. I apologize if it sounds/looks too detailed. Well here goes nothing:

Fast forward the tail end of the 8:00 p.m. novela. I finally get to post something about Marina (other than Lynn looks like one of the characters). I think this is a craptacular novela. I used to watch it but then I gave up on it and tuned into La Fea, and oh boy what I was missing, silly me. Now every time I glance during commercials I think Caray Caray bloggers would have a field day with this one but if u don’t get telemundo it’s no fun, anyway on with the show:

The group of gypsies are talking to Esmeralda. The rat (actually a vole, thank you k for the clarification and thanks Jeanne for reminding me), Lucrecia (it has a name too, I wonder if she got a cast credit, I know the horse did) still has not returned from the jail cell with a message. They don’t want to alarm Esme but Azusena (sp?) saw bad things to come when reading the tarot cards and if Lucrecia couldn’t find Sara Kali (“SK”) it’s because SK disappeared. Renzo informs Esme that guy he got chummy with (IDNHS) in the jail sent him a message that there was a lot of movement in the jail cell. There has to be a way for Esme to find out what’s happened. Something has happened to la Reina something awful and we have to find out what. Diego walks up to the crowd and asks what happened. Esme tells him that something has happened to her mother and the gypsies fear for her life.

We go the jail cell, and one of the two guards throws a plate with food to SK’s cellmate (IFHS) and he’s looking at the guard questioningly. The guard gets upset and tells him why are you looking at me like that, don’t look at me like I’m a vulture because your time has not yet come. IFHS questions the guards as to the whereabouts of SK. Where did you take her? Assassins! Guards tell him to be quiet, but he continues to accuse them. Montero is just like his father, a devil (oh God, it runs in the family) and they are going to pay. The guards threaten IFHN with the same punishment but except he will burn on a low fire and as they leave laugh evilly about how God is going to punish them.

Jump to scenery and I guess it looks like a canyon and we see SK still in her “iron” mask. She flashbacks to when Esme saw her in jail, revealed she was her daughter and promised to get out. She wants Esme to run away, flee, she doesn’t want her to suffer the same fate.

Jump back to Esme and the gypsies. Diego says not to worry we will find out exactly what happened to her mother. Renzo (he’s not half bad looking, looks more my age but who knows, with the exception of Diego/Zorro, I pay attention to age differences) pipes in I don’t think we should trust our stuff to his man. Esme informs Renzo that there is nothing that Diego shouldn’t know he is her fiancée and they are going to get married. Jonas advises Esmeralda that Diego was Miguel’s attorney and was very helpful in getting him out of jail (I haven’t watched this totally from the beginning so I have no idea what they are talking about I got more into Zorro after my first recap attempt). If it wasn’t for Zorro that rescued him, he would be dead right now. (Okay, I retract that statement, I vaguely remember seeing some guy leaving a jail cell and Zorro saving him, I guess that’s him). Renzo then accuses Diego of keeping Miguel’s lands for himself. Enter two new people who come to Diego’s defense I guess they overheard the conversation from wherever they appeared from (Miguel I assume and his wife). They didn’t want to say anything because Diego wanted it kept a secret but Diego payed more than double for the land, he conserved the lands to protect him so that the lands wouldn’t be confiscated. Diego even gave them a large sum of money to escape very far from there (isn’t Diego great, wow if I ever need a lawyer I want him). Diego aptly points out to them that they didn’t leave to which they reply its because they too are gypsies and they could never be far away from their people. Miguel and wife say Diego is a great man and an excellent friend and that’s more that enough proof for Jonas that Diego is an okay dude, asks Renzo to continue with the news he got from IDHN. I sincerely doubt that this was SK cellmate cuz I would luv to know how Renzo got this information from him.

Renzo says there was a lot of movement and there was a bonfire in the prison’s patio and gut wrenching screams (gritos desgaradores) where heard. Diego tells Esme that he has an informant in the prison guards and we’ll know exactly what happened.

Jump to the short army guy “SAM” (IDNHN) asking Pizarro about what happened in the prison last night. SAM says there was movement last night (how much noise where they actually making that it was heard by three people, I mean what a way is that to hide/kill a prisoner. Okay, let’s make as much noise as possible so that our plan can easily be discovered) and he thought the sirens were sounded so he woke up, donned his uniform went to the jail and found nothing not even a guard. Pizarro says that SAM was hearing things, maybe it was a nightmare? Pizarro asks if SAM ate to which he replies yes, I had 4 sausages, 2 breads, trozo (have no idea what that is) of meat and spicy beans. Pizarro tells SAM what really happened was that he got a case indigestion and had nightmares. What he should do is loose some weight because he can’t do the job with the extra weigh and being related to the commissioner’s father will get him nowhere. Pizzaro threatens SAM with loosing his job but later changes his mind asks what SAM heard last night, was it screams or was it a nightmare. It was a nightmare. Fine go back to your duties. SAM is not fooled he knows something happened last night, he swears by his virgencita that they were a woman’s screams that he heard.

At the de la Vega residence, Dolores who sees from a distance Montero and his soldiers and goes to tell Alejandro. Montero marches in and orders that the house be surrounded and one his men whacks a peon with the end of a rifle. I really hate that rat Montero, what a jerk. I take a short break to put on the captions. I think I am going to need them I understand what’s going on and being said but it takes my brain a while to process and translate. Montero and his men are screaming for people to move and says we’ll see where your last name gets you Alejandro de la Vega.

Cue music and opening credits. I must say I really am liking this song. “Ven y quedate conmigo, dame el corazón, vida mia estoy muriendo lento en mi prisión…..” good thing u can’t hear me sing, fast forward

Olmos is talking to the witch about getting something to dominate the will of a loved one. She has her head down and is wearing a cape. I guess she’s Indian because there is somebody there translating while she is messing with a stick in some dirt. The translator says she will give you a strong potion but the price is high. Four times the rooster crowed, four gold coins will be the price. Olmos says that’s too much money, you are trying to cheat me, I need to see proof of her power. The witch looks up and yikes doesn’t she look creepy. She has the crypt keeper looking thing going for her, and her eyeballs are pure white and she has black pupils. Chills. She says some stuff in some foreign language. Translator says she knows the drink isn’t for you, someone asked you for it. Translator also says that she knows his heart yearns for someone’s love but that love is not returned. Olmos jets out of that place and gets into the coach with MA, apparently she was out there waiting for him. She asks Olmos if he got the potion, he says yes and shows it to her. MA opens the vile to smell potion and is surprised that its odorless (sure make it smell like turpentine then you have to explain why the room smells like someone cut the cheese). Olmos warns MA that the potion is very strong with only a few drops you loose all control. It’s odorless and colorless so that you can slip it in without drawing suspicion, duh MA. MA accuses Olmos of lying and that the witch cheated them. If the witch was really powerful then she would be working in the king’s court. Olmos says she showed me her power, she revealed things that only I know. MA accuses Olmos of being naïve and that everyone knows witches are very cunning liars. Olmos knew MA wasn’t going to believe him so he asked for physical evidence of her power and she agreed. Olmos tells her the witch said that her dead announced their arrival and that is why she used the potion on someone close to her (MA) and that she would know who this person is by a red ribbon in their pocket. MA hopes that the witch wasn’t lying and that above all the potion does what it is supposed to do, because if it doesn’t this witch will see her become the worst of her poisons. At her request, Montero will burn esta choza (this hut/cabin?) to the ground.

Jump to Moncada residence and FS is being brought in by some people (looks drunk). Dena is surprised to see him in such a state. The barman says it isn’t his fault, FS went to his tavern and requested wine and drank all evening. No human body can resist all the alcohol he drank. Dena feels bad for FS, wishes she knew what is happening and orders the maid to take him to his bedchamber and that to have a doctor come right away. Dena doesn’t blame the barman but asks if something strange happened, was FS accompanied by anyone, did he say anything. He says no, there was nobody there and that FS only kept asking for bottle after bottle. Barman says to Dena that he has been a barman all his life and something must have shamed FS in a big way. Dena pays the guy for his services and she hopes he doesn’t mention what happened to no one. His lips are sealed, Dena leaves and barman is left looking at the money.

At the de la Vega’s, Alejandro wants to know what’s going on, new taxes?. He says the taxes are not new, there were always there just that payment of them wasn’t enforced. Yeah right, humpf. Alejandro informs Montero that the amount he wants is a small fortune and he doesn’t have that much cash on hand at the moment. Not my problem, oh by the way should you should restructure the permit you requested for use of the river to irrigate your crops. The river can’t be used for those purposes. Alejandro informs him that he is aware that he is a highly respectable officer and he knows full well that the river was diverted because it was on deserted land. There are new laws in LA and the river runs on the city limits and we need all the resources. Alejandro tells him that he understands that his pride has been wounded by the past events but he recommends not mixing his processional responsibilities with his personal ones. Political retaliation against him would be very inconvenient. Montero says think what u want, you follow the law, I enforce it no matter what the cost or nobody no matter how powerful they may be is above the law. Montero exits, and Yumi comes in and asks Alejandro if there is a problem. Alejandro tells her yes there are problems very serious ones.

Cut to Diego and Esme on a bench. Esme is very afraid of the information she just received and has her worried. Diego tells her not to worry because tonight Zorro is going to the prision find out what happened. Diego tells Esme not to worry, he’s sure her mom is still alive. Yippie, I get to see Zorro, uh again. Esme wants to know why Diego is so sure about this. Diego tells her that FS had her locked up for a very long time so she is obviously important to him and the Spanish crown so he doubts Montero would do something to her. Esme tells him Montero is a snake and liable to betray anybody she doubts he would obey her father’s orders. Diego asks Esme to trust him, he knows Montero and doesn’t think he would go that far. Esme then says she wants to go the prision to see her mom she doesn’t care how. Diego tells her now she can’t risk her life that way, she is the Governor’s daughter. Diego asks Esme to trust him, he swears Zorro will return her mother to her alive. They share a nice embrace.

Cut to Tobias’ bedroom where he gets a package delivered by a tailor, prissy little guy. He hopes Tobias likes it because it took a lot of effort but it came out identical. Tobias opens the box while prissy tailor has his hand out waiting for a tip. Tobias escorts him out the door and closes it behind him. Eye roll, oh God it’s a Zorro outfit. He puts on the mask but he doesn’t quite pull it off mostly because the eye sockets are not aligned properly so you see his eyebrows from one of the eye pockets. “It’s perfect.” Uh yeah, sure you keep thinking that. He does an on guard stance with an imaginary sword pointed into the mirror.

Diego and Esme are taking a carriage ride and run into Montero. Montero-My my what do we have here, the couple of the moment taking a stroll in the country. What’s wrong Esme, you don’t look happy. The clown doesn’t measure up? Esme asks him what does he want and that he should move his mean aside and let them through. Montero dismounts and tells Diego that from now on things will be different, no more hypocrisy and while the Gov called off the duel, they have unfinished business. Diego tells him if you want we can resolve the business right here. Montero tells Diego he doesn’t have to act like a hero in front of his girlfriend. Montero takes out his sword points it to Diego’s face and says for now go handle the problems that are waiting at his father’s hacienda and when the time comes they will resolve theirs. Montero assures Diego that he will make his life a living nightmare. He tips his hat to Esme and says later you and I will address our issues later. Augg, I can’t stand him. Montero mounts his horse and orders his men to move. Esme and Diego look at each other questioningly.

Back at the Moncada residence. FS is in his bed and Olmos is wiping his forehead with a wet towel. Olmos tells MA that her father is sick. It doesn’t look like a hangover, he has a fever. MA tells him who knows where he was last night. Olmos says he hopes a doctor arrives soon, because FS needs immediate medical attention. The fever can go to his brain. MA says he deserves it for disobeying her and questions whether somebody put something in his drink. Olmos guesses the Indian sorceress. MA raises an eyebrow, gets closer and finds a red ribbon in daddy’s pocket. Didn’t somebody mention something about the color red, weird huh. The proof that the Indian woman talked about says Olmos. MA is happy, the witch didn’t lie either that or it was an excellent circus trick. MA wants to know how much Olmos paid for the portion, 4 coins. MA feels if her father’s current condition is the result of 4 coins it was a very fair price.

The doctor gets there and Dena is trying to hurry him to FS’s bedroom. The doctor wonders why the rush it’s only a hangover. Dena tells him that she too thought it was only a hangover but she has never seen FS like that. He moans in pain and she is sure he’s having hallucinations. His temperature goes up and down, she’s sure he has been poisoned and she’s afraid he might die. Doctor gets upset that Dena is talking about death, don’t do that, don’t bring bad luck and much less 30 feet from the sick person. When near a sick person talk about his good health that’s much better for the patient. Now if the patient dies I am also a gravedigger. Lucky Dena then. Dena looks at him worried over FS.

MA places the potion under FS’s nose letting him have a good whiff of the stuff and enjoying it while Olmos is telling her to be careful. Okay, she’s just cruel, I really hate her. She pulls away the potion and asks Olmos if he is sure Fernado can’t hear them. Olmos doesn’t think so, he’s delirious. MA tells him she hopes he is suffering plenty for having disdained her. Diego will be hers with or without his help. Olmos is having doubts hiring the sorceress. The Indians have always hated the white people (hehehe they’re Hispanic) and who knows what she really intended to do. Olmos is afraid but MA tells him don’t worry, the sorceress will do what she wanted them to do and she is powerful. Olmos feels kinda guilty, her poor father is confined to the bed. He never wanted to harm him. MA tells Olmos he isn’t like that because of him it’s because of that darned religious woman, Maria Pia who made him change his mind with respect to the marriage of her half sister. Olmos asks what religious woman. MA-Maria Pia de la Vega and she will pay dearly for having crossed her path and for everything she (Maria Pia) has done to her (MA).

Jump to the convent where Nutty Nun and Maria Pia are talking. Maria Pia notices that Nutty Nun is still not feeling well and when she was informed by another sister that Nutty wasn’t going to attend the burial she thought it was only something minor but apparently not. Maria Pia tells Nutty that she has to take care of that cold. Nutty tells her thank you for your concern but I know how to take care of myself the same or better than you. Maria Pia is unfazed by her words and tells her if she has to rest go do it. Nutty then tells her that Sister Carola says Father Tomas was looking for her last night. MP confirms this but says she couldn’t see him. Nutty-Because you were sleeping I imagine. Me on the other hand could not sleep at all, I kept hearing things, noises footsteps but you on the other hand slept really well. MP tells her yeah perfectly. Then before Nutty leaves goes on to say that’s great because only those who are at peace with God can sleep soundly those who have a pure consciences, chaste like yourself. Maria Pia is left to digest those words.

Cut to Father Tomas putting some tortillas out and talking to the Cardinal about Maria Pia. She’s not like other Spanish nuns. They have been raises according to Vatican guidelines Cardinal asks if Maria Pia is allowed certain worldly liberties. Father Tomas informs the Cardinal that she observes all the church rules but what he meant to say in carrying out her vocation you have to see it as more earthly. Cardinal takes a piece of tortilla and says its delicious. Father Tomas looks at the Cardinal and says it might be a good idea to thank God for the food. Cardinal looks a little sheepish and says yes yes of course. FT- “Father we thank you for our daily bread that we’re sharing with our brothers. “This bread is everybody’s effort therefore we need to offer our work as compensation. Amen” Cardinal praises Father Tomas on the prayer but says what did you mean exactly when you said offer our work as compensation?” Father Tomas tells him that in this community they plow the lands with the Indians as a way of showing God and everyone else that we are all equal and invites the Cardinal to accompany them. The Cardinal seems a little scared with the request but manages to pull off an of course, I would love to.

At the de la Vega’s, we have Esme, Alejandro and Diego. Diego is reviewing some papers that talk about the new taxes and changes in the river route and says so this is what Montero was reffering to. Alejandro confirms that’s what the papers say and asks if he ran into Montero. Esme says yes and he looked menancing and determined and undoubtedly he will make our lives impossible. Alejandro tells Esme that it was a big wound to his pride to have FS renege on Esme’s hand in marriage and Montero is a very cruel, primitiave man and to him a dishonor is only paid back with vengancde. Diego asks what are they to do the taxes are very high and they want prompt payment. Alejandro tells him don’t worry we’ll figure out a way but what has him concerned is Montero’s future behavior. Diego is unfazed we all knew that when the engagement was called off, Montero was going to react this way. Alejandro is concerned because Montero is going to be use the military back power not only against us but …. Esme not missing a beat guesses asks if Monter would be willing to confront her father. Alejandro doesn’t want to worry her but, Montero is very dangerous and doesn’t measure consequences of his actiosn and he is capable of taking reprisals against Esme’s father.

Yumi is sweeping up an unused room and pulls back some blankets and uncovers a bed frame and a chest inches from it. She kneels down and opens the chest and it contains a fan, perfume that she smells and puts on her dress. Cut to Dolores patting herself on the pack with finger licking good guarapo (juice made from sugar canes). Yumi walks in and Dolores asks her to take the tray into living room. She hesitates so Dolores asks her to take the tray to livingroom where Alejandro and company are seated. Yumi doesn’t think twice and immediately goes to serve the guarapo. Dolores notices the perfume smell when Yumi leaves and recognizes it as Regina’s.

Esme is worried and thinks it might be a good idea to postpone the wedding until everything cools down. Diego says no that would tell Montero we’re afraid of him. Esme says we have to join forces to face what’s coming; Montero is going to bring trouble. Alejandro thinks maybe the best way to join forces is to have both weddings and for everyone one to get settled in the house where they will be safe and protected. Diego agrees and says he will talk to Father Tomas about getting everything ready ASAP. Yumi enters with the guarapo tray walks right up to Alejandro to serve him first. Thanks Guadalupe but ladies first and directs her to Esme. Esme asks her if she is new here which Guadalupe confirms and goes to serve Diego his guarapo. Diego tells Esme that Guadalupe is his dad’s goddaughter and he just got her baptized into the Catholic faith. Alejandro introduces Guadalupe to Esme as Diego’s fiancée and niece of Dena his fiancée. Guadalupe is impactada, you’re the daughter of the one eyed man. Esme-yes I am the Gov’s daughter and you are very beautiful it was a pleasure meeting you. Guadalupe excuses herself to leave and when Alejandro clears his throat and says uh Yumi am I invisible? No, what he actually says, “ Are you going to serve me?” Guadalupe leans in to serve Alejandro his drink. Alejandro gets a whiff of Regina’s perfume as Guadalupe leaves the room. Esme asks if they noticed the exoctic perfume that Guadalupe had on. Alejandro says yes it is a very special perfume.

Back to the Moncada residence, where MA is by the water fountain and notices Montero. Montero what a surprise to see you. I didn’t think you would show up around these parts especially after what happened. Montero tells her everything will be straightened out in due time but he is there to talk to her father, take me to him. MA informs him that her father is indisposed due to a killer hangover. Montero insists because it is a very important visit. MA tells him he is unconciouness but if she doesn’t believe him fine she’ll prove it.

Jump to chapel where some guy leaves Maria Pia a message from FS. Messenger says FS gave it to him before entering the tavern but that when they took him out he was very drunk. It looks like he drank all night until dawn. Maria Pia concerned asks how is he doing. The messenger says who knows and excuses himself. Maria Pia reads the letter: I don’t deserve you Maria Pia. I don’t understand how I did something so cruel to you. I am ashamed by my behavior. I got carried away by the pashion we once felt. I am going mad, maybe I do not dserve to live. I the great FS Sanchez de Moncada, am worthless. Absoulety worthless without your love and I must accept with all the sorrow in the world that I have lost you forever.” She is truly upset by his letter and says to no one in particular that she knows he really loves her. And asks God why did he have to bring FS back into her life. How long is He going to punish her with this impossible love.” (She really does love him despite everything, wow). She asks God what she should do and for a sign of His will.

Jump to Tobias’ girlfriend (oops wife, gracias Jeanne) (TW) looking at herself in her bedroom mirror and who should appear behind her, Zorro? No, it’s just Tobias in the costume, idiot and he still hasn’t fixed the mask, how can he see from that thing?. TW is impactada, Zorro?! Tobias, swishing his sword-Here you have him, the most feared bandit in the region. TW is angry and demands to know what Tobias is doing in that costume. Tobias tells her something that will bring them lots of benefits. TW accusses of Tobias of having gone crazy. He starts swishing the sword and almost falls on his face.

Back at the Moncada residence the doctor is finishing up with Fernado and enter MA with Cmdr Montero. MA basically kicks him out of the room. MA pokes her dad in the shoulder and tells Montero see, told ya so. Actually what she says is see, nothing wakes him up. Cmdr finds it odd that excessive drinking would lead to this type of state. Cmdr asks to be alone with FS. MA asks why if he won’t hear you. He asks again and she looks at him and leaves the room. Montero locks the door and tells FS. I don’t know for sure whether or not you can hear me. He starts slapping his face and then proceeds to tell FS that he had a very interesting discussion with his woman in the prison and she has revealed a lot of information that makes her a dangerous person. Montero laughs and tells Gov that he has her, very isolated and more secure than the prison. Gov loyalty is the only thing that will protect us both because if those secrets were every revealed there would be a high price for both of their heads in the Spanish court. I wonder what she told him! To be clear he will not accept anymore humiliations or betrayals from him, understood. Montero lifts up Gov.’s boot and calls him pathetic and wonders what exactly happened with that woman, Maria Pia, it was because of her that you refused me Esme’s hand in marriage. Montero calls him disgusting a poor devil and that woman is costing him his life.

Back at the church, Father Tomas is in the library or something and Maria Pia comes in and asks to speak to him about something important. Father Tomas is very happy that she is there because he was wonderful news to tell her. Maria Pia wonders what wonderful news can he possibly give her considering everything that has happened to her. Oops Cardinal was in the background, I assume you are referring to the death of Mother Superior. Cardinal tells her we know what u are going thru. This is Maria Pia I presume, which Father Tomas confirms. Father Tomas Introduces Maria Pia to Cardinal Olivieri. He knows the loose was regrettable but we must overcome it especially because time is of the essence. He complains about the heat. Maria Pia asks Cardinal for forgiveness but she doesn’t understand why he is here Father Tomas informs Maria Pia that the Cardinal is here by order of the Vatican, after many years their Religious Order has been recognized officially by the Vatican and the Cardial is there to appoint here as Mother Superior of their order.

Back to Moncada residence, where Doc is resting his eyes and Dena asks Doc to tell her how is FS. Doc wakes up from his snooze and tells Dena of course FS is fine but its obvious his condition is not due to the liquor but the symptoms are strange and unknown to him. He’s aware of people bad habits around these parts and it appears that FS ingested some type of potion of questionable origins. It appears they gave him a mix of chamomill herbs, poppy along with a mixture of herbs known only to savages. In fact the Indians are the ones you use these potions. Dena just wants to know if FS will get better, he gave him something that will get him better in a few hours but he recommends that FS be more careful as to what he drinks and with whom in the future as a higher content of the potion would result in his death. Dena pays the good Doc and he says it was pleasure treating el Gov. and excuses himself as he exits.

Back to de la Vega’s, Esme & Diego are talking outside. Esme is worried about what Alejandro just told them about Montero. Montero’s lack of fear in confronting FS and everyone else proves that he has sensitive information that he can use against FS. Diego agrees with her and adds that maybe FS had shady plans which required SK to be alive and maybe Montero found out and that is why she was taken to another prison that only Montero knows. Esme fears what that bastard Montero is capable of doing to her mother only to get the information he wanted. Diego reassures Esme not to worry because tonight Zorro will return her mother. Esme insists t’s a two man job, its her mother we’re talking about. Diego warns Esme it could be risky but Esme doesn’t care she will do whatever it takes to save her mom’s life. I like Esme, she’s pretty brave and smart.

Inside the de la Vega’s Alejandro confronts Yumi about the perfume. He demands to know where she got the perfume. Yumi tells him she found it when she was cleaning but she didn’t know it belonged to anybody. Alejandro is angry and prohibits Yumi from taking anything that does not belong to her. Yumalai didn’t want to upset Alejandro, Yumi isn’t bad person. Alejandro says she did and she seems determined to make him relieve his past make herself a part of it. He orders her to take a bath and remove the perfume, she will never be Regina, never. Yumi sniffs her hair and looks pretty confident if you ask me.

At the prison, Moncada is dictacting something or other, blah, blaha (looks like some law) He tells Pizarro he wants these laws dictated and itemized by tomorrow for signature to be sent to Alejandro de la Vega’s first thing in the morning. Pizzaro doesn’t understand the point. If he really wants to wipe out the de la Vega’s why doesn’t he invent something so that they rot in jail for the rest of their lives. Montero tells him nothing would make him happier than seeing them suffer before an unfourtnate accident should befall on them but it’s not that easy. They have great power before the Crown and he has to act carefully, step by step with feet of steal. Montero lets Pizzaro know he’s going to make the de la Vega’s life miserable and when they have no choice but to break the law, he will arrest them and they shall be his. Montero gets upset when another guard interputs without announcing himself to tell him he has a guest Esme is there to see him. Esme walks in and says don’t blame him, its her fault she wanted to talk to him quickly in private.

Cmdr demands to know why is Esme there and how is it that the guards let a woman into his prision. Esme feels her presence shouldn’t surprise him, she is Gov’s daughter after all. Montero tells her that in his prision no one comes in or out without permission not even the Gov’s daughter but since she is there what does she want. Esme-You should at least offer me a seat, right. Montero tells Pizzaro he should go out to the patio for the changing of the guard but Esme says on second thought Pizzaro should stay. Since she knows Montero fully trusts him and all and she would like him there when she tells Montero what she came to say. Pizzaro orders another solider in the room to take his place in the patio. Esme is basically distracting Montero, saying I don’t want you to think bad of me, but I think it would be right of me to come to clear up a few things. Montero informs he everything is very clear to him, she acted very vulgar. Esme tells him her father should have never given him her hand in marriage, he only did it to punish her.

Cut to the patio where guards are discussing Esme being in the prison. Guard 1, what was I supposed to do, she’s Gov daughter. Guard 2, you are in deep poo (actually he said you are in deep trouble now, but I wanted to be able to say that) now cuz the only person authorized to let people in is Cmdr. G-1, shut up and patrol.

Zorro, yeah!! is sitting on the roof of the prison office and you get cool sounding background music. Corazón, solitario soy, vengo a desatar tu amor…I gotta stop doing that and he’s walking on the rooftops. He grapples and climbs a wall and walks into jail area.

Back to TWs bedroom and she demands that Tobias tell her what he is planning on doing. Tobias tells her that with the costume, he’s going to provoke Zorro, act as bait to lure him. Then he will challenge him to a duel and that way find out what fencing school he went to and be one step closer to finding out who he really his. His plan is genious. His wife looks at him like yeah right. What you doubt my abilties and to prove it swishes the cape around like a maniac. Yeah whatever, bring back Zorro.

Jump back to Zorro sneaking his way around in the prison. Jump back to TG & Tobias. He has some bad news. It looks like he invested a good portion of her dowry in inviting to America, fencing instructior Samaniego. TG is very upset at this and accusses him of wasting their money. He wants an apology (oh okay her name is Catalina, I like TG better) he’s not wasting money its an investment in their future. Cmdr Montero and FS are willing to pay more than they (TG & Tobias) own to trap Zorro.

Jump back to Zorro, he snuck in the bedroom of SAM who is napping comfortably in his PJ’s and hat [kinda like Olmos’ but SAM’s was a two piece].

And back to TW & Tobias. TW is upset that Tobias is wasting his time on Zorro and I agree with her enough already. Zorro is a good man yadda, yadda. Tobias can’t believe that his wife, the daughter of a judge takes the side of a criminal who steals from the crown. The crown itself is stealing from those poor people, you told me so yourself. Tobias shushes her the walls have ears, and plus he prohibits her from talking about his plans to anyone it concerns their future and that of their children pause, when they have them, he swishes his cape one more time and leaves.

Back to Zorro again, he covers SAM’s mouth and asks Garcia (oh that’s his name) to follow him outside. Zorro asks him if he is going to stay quite and don’t make him take out his sword. Garcia shakes his head no and Zorro pulls hims out of bed, Garcia falls to floor, Zorro pulls out sword points it at Garcia’s neck and is escorted outside with the sword digging into his back.

At Moncada residence, MA is sleeping when FS stumbles into her bedroom. She awakes with a start. FS is stumbling around the room and accuses her of doing putting him in that state. His head is killing him and says God is punishing him for the bad things he’s done. He’s grabbing his head, I’m dying and passes out on the floor. MA is impactada, I killed him, she gets out of bed, daddy, daddy. She starts touching him and is scared and screams for Olmos.

Back to Esme and Montero. She says she feels bad this is very difficult for her. Montero isn’t fazed and tells Pizarro to bring the lady a glass of water. Esme says no I am fine, no water, I want you to hear this. Everything happened because of an argument I had with my father, I told him I wanted to marry Diego but to spite me he promised me to you Cmdr. Later me and Diego made up, Pizzaro is looking at Esme questioningly. Montero doesn’t give a flying fart about her fight with daddy, FS want back on his word and Esme lied to him pretending have feelings for him. Montero thinks there is no reason for her to be there, you came to her to tell me this nonsense. Montero wants her to get out but she has something very important to tell him.

MA and Olmos bring carry FS back to his bed. MA tells Olmos that FS accussed her. Olmos tells her not to worry FS is burning up with fever. FS doesn’t know what he is doing or saying. Olmos is concered over his patron. FS cries for Maria Pia not to flee from him, come back, I did what you asked, I love you. Maria Pia you’ll be the death of me. MA tells Olmos he was right, Maria Pia manipulated FS to have Esme marry Diego. The little minx must have proven her love. Olmos asks if they should call the Doc but MA says no, no one else should hear his stupid utterandces besides she wants him to suffer a little more it will pass tomorrow. Olmos tells her don’t be so cruel he’s your father. MA-If I am like this to my own father can you imagine what awaits my enemies.” FS is curled in the fetal position in his bed shivering. Olmos covers him with a blanket.

Cut to Maria Pia’s bedroom where she is kneeled about to pray. Nutty Nun knocks on the door and Maria Pia lets her in. Nutty-I’ve come to congrate you Sister Maria Pia or should I say Mother. Maria Pia tells her I am not Mother yet and if you don’t mind the Cardinal has asked that I retire to my room to reflect. Nutty is being condescending telling her doesn’t have to reflect. She is pure not a sinner like everyone else, she’s almost celestially virginal, who doesn’t know sin, desire much less lust. Maria Pia again asks her to leave but she just has to add, she’s happy she will be her spiritual guide. I am going to always be like you pure and chaste. Aughh, how about sending her into that Duelo whirlpool.

Back at the prison, Garcia is hanging upside down and going around in circles telling Zorro that he swears he doesn’t know anything regarding what he is asking. They have a cute little exchange regarding what happened last night but in the end Garcia says Yes I heard the screams and movement but Pizarro assured me it was a nightmare. Z-A nightmare, well my patience is running out. Tell me who is that woman and where was she transferred to. G-I don’t know anything more if I did I would tell you, mercy Z-yeah your right. It appears to be a well guarded secret and one last thing I recommend you tell no one I was here and much less that I asked about the woman. G-sure don Zorro just tell me who is that prisoner Z-I recommend that if you want to remain alive, don’t ask. Bye. Zorro lets go of the rope, leaves and Garcia falls to ground . Guard 1&2 appear and one of them says it sounds like I heard a noise. Zorro hides right above the guards while they think it odd that Montero hasn’t ordered a change of guards.

Back to Montero and Esme. He doesn’t know where she is going with this. Esme tells him that she is indebted to him for saving her life and her father had other motives for having denied her hand to him. Esme hears Tornado neighing and knows her time is up. Montero tells her my patience is running out and Esme tells him that it was silly and naïve of her to come and make him understand reason being that barbaric and can’t see beyond his nose. Montero-I would be careful things are very different now. EsmeYeah of course they’re different, I am going to marry Diego de la Vega and you cannot do anything about it. She excuses herself and leaves.

Pizarro tells Montero woman are very strange sometimes. Montero orders Pizzaro to follow Esme her attitude was very strange and he wants to know where she goes and find the idiot who let her into my prison and take care of him. Esme boards a wagon and asks the driver to take her home. She looks over and sees who appears to be Zorro but she looks confused.

END OF EPISODE.

P.S. I figured out how to get around the keyboard thing (I installed the keyboard that belongs to my tower, I look like an idiot typing on my coffee table and my laptop screen inches from me but a girl’s gotta recap and these laptop keys are too close together)

Mundo de Fieras 3/09/07: "The Long Good-bye and the Endless Farewell"

Leo heads over to the construction company offices looking for his new-found "kid sister." Jos admits she already knows they're half-brother and sister. All smiles, he asks her what she thinks of the situation and she rebuffs him. "What are you expecting? That I might fling myself into your arms, offer you my home, share everything I have with you? Call you brother?"

(The next sound we hear is Leo's balloon bursting.) He tells her she's known him long enough to know money doesn't interest him. Leo explains his idea was to give her a bit of what he'd been fortunate to have received from full hands during his life: love, support, and understanding. (Ok. This was a two-hanky speech here. I admit it.) With him as her big brother she would now have somebody to share her thoughts and feelings so she wouldn't feel so all alone.

Jos tells him she's not interested and she feels better than ever. Anyway, they are like water and oil, so "Bye-Bye. Ta-ta!" (and don't let the door hit your backside on the way out.....)

Leo cannot believe she's really not interested in having him close by or that she's not going to regret having rejected him. He'll be praying for her he says. He leaves (and all you see is that giant embroidered neon Virgin of Guadalupe on his back, bigger than life, flashing in the doorway as he exits). She fights back her tears (you're kiddin' me...say it ain't so) and starts back on her computer. (Shoot! Please tell me this psychotic, homicidal, "rhymes-with-witch" is not going to be one of the "redeemed ones" at the end of this melanovela.)

Gabe walks into Demian's office. He tells Demian that before Rogelio left he told him how Demian had stolen all his best clients while Gabe was in a coma. Also, he tells him that Rog confessed to helping Demian purchase second rate materials and substituting them into Gabe's construction projects. Demian smirks then shrugs and answers that if he already knew then there was no reason for him to lie about it. Demian adds that Rog got paid pretty well for his troubles, while he was at it. Gabe replies that fortunately his son has seen the error of his ways. (From your lips to God's ears, Gabe....) Demian says, "Congratulations! Now let me get back to work!"

Gabe warns Demian to be careful because he knows the authorities are investigating him. He lets him know that if they come asking him, he will make a statement against his brother so everyone knows just what kind of person Damian really is. Demian just glares at Gabe. Gabe leaves.

Leo arrives home and tells Candy that Jos treated him like garbage. Candy tells him that she hates seeing him unhappy but you couldn't expect more from those two shameless and arrogant females. Leo says it was as if neither of them had any feelings. He tells her he's upset. He says that he signed up to be a doctor and now he's off to vaccinate the needy out in the boonies. It's going to be his way of finding himself. He doesn't know who he is or where he's going in life. (Damn, he does it so well, though.) Candy tells him to go with a clear conscience as she'll be there waiting for him as ever. They laugh then about how he'll miss her crazy cooking. (Ay!)

Miriam sits in her office and remembers the unpleasant conversations she just had with Leo and Candy. Perhaps she's having second thoughts........

Juan Cristobal goes in to see his father and asks him if he set the fire that burned down Leo's doc-in-a-box. Demian yells at him for doubting his own father. J.C. says he knows from experience that nothing stops Demian when he's angry. Demian again accuses him of killing Regina. J.C. answers back that it's a shame he's so bitter at life. Demian admits to him he's never needed J.C. around. J.C. shakes his head in disgust and says he came to also tell him that Paulina was having twins and that he hopes they can avoid the same unfortunate story as the one his father initiated with his uncle.

Paulina tells Gabe she's made a decision to find her birth mother and meet her. Gabe gives his blessing although he warns her she might be difficult to find. He suggests that it is never a good idea to stir up the past.

Leo visits Sylvestre. They talk about the difference between Candy and the two fieras. Leo is amazed at their coldness. However, he says, life goes on. Leo then tells Syl about his joining the group of docs who'll be vaccinating poor kids in the boonies. Syl tells him not to worry about things there because he'll take care of everything. (That's a relief. Syl has done such a good job so far, especially with Elsa, don't you think?) Leo warns him to watch out for Elsa 'cause he thinks she's fallen off the wagon. (Man, that Mexican mouthwash must be something else 'cause nobody even has a clue about Elsita!)

At the same time darling Elsa is paying off El Mastín and then buying more booze and cocaine from him.

El Coyote calls up Jos in order to ask if she knows yet what she's going to do with the "merchandise". Jos says soon. He says he's starting to get nervous.

Pau tells Karen that she's already made an appointment at the children's home where she was adopted. Karen agrees to go with her.

Elsa comes over to Candy's and meets up with Leo. He tells her that Miriam is his real mother. She starts giggling, high as a kite, and tells him he's got to get her to recognize him legally and so he can get a ton of cash out of her now. Finally he realizes his baby sister has to be on something. He checks out her eyes and says he's worried for her. Leo simply asks her not to anger her mother any while he's gone since Candy is already exhausted by everything that's happened around there recently. (I'm thinking enabling here. This guy is a doctor. Turn her in. "Tough love." "Do no harm.")

Dolores visits Candy and they talk about their two sons. They determine it was for the best that Leo found out just what kind of woman Miriam is and now he won't hold out false hopes. Candy then asks about Tiberio. She tells Dolores that the police will search high and low for him and will continue to follow him until they find him and grab him. "He needs to turn himself in," she says.

Ti calls his daddy for help but Demian tells him to find his own way out of this mess. (Poor Ti. At this point he doesn't seem to know how to find his way out of a soggy paper bag.)

Mariangela begs El Coyote to let her go since she hasn't done anybody any harm. He only sits there with a ski mask on and says "Shhhhhhhh!" or "Pssst!" again. In the corner next to him sits one of those grey, cute little pet rats sniffing around for more cheese-cracker treats. (Real junk yard rats would never look that clean and healthy.)

Mariangela cries out that she needs a bath. El Coyote finally gives in and allows her to take a bath. When she enters that wreck of a bathroom she finds a rock lying near the toilet and looks for a way to hide it.

The director of the children's home refuses to give any assistance to Paulina regarding her birth mother. She sends Pau and Karen away emptyhanded. In the hallway though, her assistant catches up with them and promises to help investigate her birthmother's whereabouts. The assistant says she was an orphan herself, who was never adopted, was raised there, and has wondered for years about her own parents. She explains this is her motive for helping Pau.

As Mariangela bathes in icy cold water El Coyote watches through a peep hole and begins to get all hot and bothered. Just then Jos shows up and angrily asks him what he thinks he is doing.

Leo meets Karen at a cafe and tells her that Miriam is his real mother. Karen is surprised and pleased to have him for an uncle even if her mom and grandmother are not.

Jos enjoys hearing Mariangela scream for her son and to be let out. She tells herself that Mariangela will pay in blood and tears for having robbed Gabe from her. El Coyote returns and Jos pays him half now. She says he'll get the other half later, after she has proof that Mariangela will never be able to escape from there. El Coyote assures her that Mariangela will spend the rest of her life stuck in there. Another cute pet rat, a black one, sniffs around from an old wall behind El Coyote.

Leo gives his final (I think) farewell to his friends and family. Elsa continues to look like she would rather be anywhere but there. Big Bro continues with the long good-byes till she tells him to just get over it! It's not like he is going to be all that far away. (I was thinking that myself!) One of the guys wheels out his big suitcase to the taxi.

Karen rushes into her mother's room and asks her why she behaved the rotten way she did towards her brother. Jos says she has nothing to say to Candelaria's son. Karen corrects her and says he's her grandmother's son and Jos's brother. Jos tells her to mind her own business. Karen keeps after her and tells her to think it over because she's throwing away an opportunity to have a real brother. Jos asks why should she have any feelings for him?

Karen insists Jos had feelings for Daddy Edgar once and had said she was the result. Jos agrees, but then tells her he became too much of a nuisance for her. He was just too weak. Leo is a nuisance now also. "What is done is done and it's over. Next chapter. The only thing that is important is one's self in the end." Nothing else matters to her.

Karen keeps after her mother. She tells Jos she's ashamed of her. She used to want to be just like her, but she's glad she thought it over first. There are other things in life. Maybe Jos did have something to do with her dad's death she says. So, Jos finally has had enough. She gets really angry and loses all control. She slaps Karen and practically knocks her down to the floor. She tells Karen "you need a lot more to get somebody like me to give in." She tells Karen she is tired of her foolishness. She should be thanking her for all she's done for her.

Karen yells back that there's more to life and beatings cannot change her opinion of her mother. Jos grabs her and keeps screaming that Karen is always looking for and taking the opposite side with everything she says. (Man, what parent hasn't been there before?)

Karen tells her she doesn't know her anymore and that she's frightened of her. Jos says that's good. Everybody should be frightened of her. Karen doesn't understand. "What do you mean by this?" Jos asks her, "Can't you guess? You wanted to know about our life? You're father was weak. He would rather hide in some little town than come back and to fight for you. He didn't come back for you, he came back to threaten me! I had to kill him! --Yes! Anybody who comes to touch anything of mine! I had to kill him and if I had to do it again I would! I would do it again! --Don't you see? I was defending you!

Karen clearly has a hard time understanding this and is panicked because she's just realized her mother's a homicidal maniac and is bending over her literally ready to twist her head and break her neck. "You don't defend me by killing! You're a murderer!" and she threatens to turn Jos into the police. Jos taunts her and says, "Do it then! Do it!! No, you are the same as I am. You're a hiena, a hiena. Hiena! You're capable of going against your own, turning against your own mother. Hiena! Hiena! You're just like me, a wild animal. (Growls and snarls.)

La Fea Más Bella #228 3/9/07 Aldo shows his avenging side, Tomas makes new friends, and Fer continues acting like an imbecile

They are both so in love with Leticia Padilla Solis. Dum dum dum dum! The cuartel look around at each other wondering if each of the other believes her. Lety continues that she knows that Fer is engaged to Mar and supposedly in love with her and on the other hand Aldo isn’t in a relationship…PM stops her telling her sarcastically, fine, it’s ok if you don’t want to tell us the truth but don’t take us for complete fools. Sara chimes in that it’s really low of her to tell them lies.

Ugh, ok tonight the cuartel p***d me off a bit. They don’t believe her story. What kind of friends are they? Loyalty? Tisk. Lety somewhat shocked, tells them that now she’s telling the truth and they don’t believe her, she doesn’t tell them and they don’t believe her. They go back and forth a little with this and she says ok fine, well, actually one is in love with her and one is only faking it, but there you have it. PM is still in disbelief, and says that Lety has no confidence in them, so that is why she isn’t telling them the truth. She is very offended and says they must no longer be her friends. Juana too, says she better go and they can say goodbye to Lety, no, better, Presidenta Leticia Padilla, the one who is so discreet. Lola, Sara, & PM get up to leave too. Irma (the only independent mind in the bunch) tries to stem the mutiny but to no avail, and Marta won’t leave as long as a crumb remains on the table. Lety is muy impactada. Poor Lety. That scene made my stomach sick.

In NY at the meeting, Fer, still acting like an imbecile juvenile at what would seem to be an incredibly important meeting, is representing Conceptos in fine stead I must say. NOT…. Frankly, Tomas in his goofy outfits of earlier days might make a better impression on these people than Fer at this point. Ok, what about paying back those millions of dollars in 3 months is he forgetting? Surprisingly, the NY folks are indulging him. Well of course, he’s Don Fer the Sexy, and this is telenovela-land. Duh.

A cell phone rings and Fer thinks it’s his, but it’s not, so the other guy gets up to take it. Carla asks him to continue, despite his absence, so he explains the project and Carla is thrilled; she says it sounds very interesting. She thinks they might even be able to do one for the American market and dub it into English. Fer just thinks that’s swell, so he deals out CDs of the promo, says they can work on the methods and he’ll prepare the contract, and gets up to leave. Carla stops him saying she still has some doubts, and asks if he is in a hurry. Our juvenile imbecile realizes he was a bit too quick to the draw and says no, of course not, we came all the way from Mexico for this, so of course I’ll stay and you may ask whatever questions you wish.

All ears, he picks up his phone and fiddles with it. Carla stops her question and asks if he is awaiting an urgent call, or if he suffers from chronic cellulitis. Ha! I’ve seen those people. The ones walking down the street with the phone to one ear, as they seem to talk to themselves, or step in dog doo, or trip over a curb. The ones driving with a phone to their head while weaving all over their lane, or the vulcans wearing their blinking bluetooth headset into the lavatory because it’s become permanently affixed to their skull. Don’t think he has it, so he says yes, a call from his colleague, and it’s a matter of life and death. He chuckles and sort of looks away.

Back at the restaurant the floozies Omar hired try their luck on Aldo asking him what he prefers to cook meat or fish. He of course says fish. Omar says he not only cooks it, he catches it himself. He then thinks they should talk about a different subject. The ladies ask how he would like to conquer a woman, he says by cooking for her. Omar chimes in that he does his best work after the dinner. They seem confused. He asks if they really don’t know what comes after the dinner, and they say no, and he flatly says, well of course, dessert. Omar chuckles again and says he makes a great flaming pear dessert. He then decides he needs to make a call and walks out, he asks some bystanders what happened to his phone memory. Just then it rings and someone asks to speak with Aldo. Omar is impactado and it turns out he grabbed Aldo’s phone. Back at the table Aldo mumbles to himself that Omar will pay for this as he already figured out he was duped. Aldo apologizes to the girls for being trite and explains to them how he was tricked. Just then, “his” phone rings and it’s Fer who promptly proceeds to ask him how the plan is going with that idiot Aldo and your little friends and tells him that he wants Aldo very very far away from Lety. Aldo hangs up on him!!

Omar walks back in and gives Aldo his phone, just as Fer calls back to yell at him. Omar sort of blows him off because he is still in the mixed company and Fer is mad because he had to interrupt his meeting to find out what’s up.

We go to Ali and Tomas eating their lunch in Tomas’ office when Lui walks in. Lui wonders what Alice is doing there and tells them he’s mad about something she said. He notices the food and begins to chow down too. Ali tells him the chicken’s leg is hers, and Tomas claims the breast. Lui begins to chat with her about how Aldo doesn’t care for her. He asks how it is that she knows he’s going to marry her. He asks her if she received a love letter or a bear, etc. she says she went to dinner with him. After analyzing it they realize that Aldo doesn’t favor either of them. Tomas giggles heartily. They look at him and he returns to the frown.

Back at the restaurant, Irma tells Lety to ignore them, and she tells everyone that of course they are her friends and that they matter more than anything else at Conceptos to her. Irma empathizes and Marta remains dedicated to stuffing her face. Sara begs for Irma and Marta to go too. Of course Marta isn’t done eating so she’s not going anywhere. PM tells them then if they want to stay with Lety who doesn’t want to be their friend anymore, then so be it. They are outta there. Lety asks where they would get such an idea that she doesn’t want them as friends. They don’t respond and instead formally tell her to enjoy her meal and leave.

Back at the inhouse chow fest Lui wants to know why life dealt him this horrible blow. Tomas consoles them by telling them at least they know now before it gets too late. Lui tells him lament it all you want but he wonders who will cure this horrible pain. Ali says hers too. They whine in unison. Tomas volunteers of course to help Ali get over it. Lui comments sarcastically that he ignores the circus ringleader but instead wants to console the clown. Then Ali recalls that he said before that Aldo is in love with another. All of a sudden they realize they need to get the information out of him.

The cuartel walk into Conceptos, Lety still begging them to believe her. Lola tells her that friends share everything, good or bad. They think there is some gossip tidbit that Lety knows and isn’t telling them. Ha! Estupidas. She gave them the gossip of the century and they dismissed it!!!! They don’t care what she says and go off to their desks, formally telling her if she needs something she can reach them. Irma tells her again to ignore them that they are crazy. Lety tells herself she’s upset at the way they are acting but she really doesn’t want them to know the truth anyway.

Ali and Lui continue trying to interrogate Tomas, first with sugar then with salt. He gets nervous and walks out saying he has to go to his office. Ali decides to get firm and Lui admires her performance, then Tom returns remembering it’s his office. It seems Ali and Lui will hatch a plan to get the scoop from Tommy.

Lety is now with Aldo in her office talking about how many moles there are and gazing at each other somewhat dreamily when Omar the imbecile walks in announcing that Aldo needs to go on a trip today to secure a signature for one of the contracts. He says he would go himself but he has to stay and monitor the rest of the unsigned contracts. Aldo agrees he’ll do it since it’s in the name of the gastronomy project and Omar walks out satisfied. Lety mocks him and doesn’t like his attitude. Aldo tells her not too worry about Omar because he already has him figured out. She tells him her mom was happy to hear that she’ll be helping and he happy to hear that and asks if he can come by to see her before he leaves. She says of course. She wishes Aldo a lovely trip to which he replies it would be lovely if she went with. She says ok, well have a good trip then and she smiles a silly smile.

Back at Casa Padilla Julieta awaits a call from Aldo regarding her role in the project. Man they are getting everyone into this. I’m waiting to see what Moty’s role is going to be. Official taster of the dishes? Mascot? Sanson’s love interest? Anyway….
Erasmo bears his fangs complaining that he doesn’t have his coffee that he asked for yet. She tells him she couldn’t make it until she gets an important call. He then remembers it must be Aldo and says those people are very important and busy and will probably forget you are even waiting. She doesn’t think Aldo is that way. He says he still doesn’t like that she is kept waiting like this, oh and he wants his coffee. She agrees with him and decides she’ll wait no more. But, not to make the coffee, instead she’ll go to him directly at Conceptos. He doesn’t agree with this and implies that she shouldn’t help out on the project. He also tells her that he won’t allow it. In her own “women are smarter” way she smooths the whole thing over with Erasmo by telling him she’s not asking for his permission and well, she’s off.

Aldo the 1st and Aldo the 2nd are bonding again and Aldo II tells Aldo I to pick a card, any card and he’ll guess what it is. Ja Ja…they are all pictures of Alibubis. Aldo agrees here is a man really in love. Aldo I discusses with II that he feels very uncomfortable and that O and F (Hmm, Oscar and Felix, same initials, Odd Couple indeed!) are trying everything to keep him away from Lety. Tommy wants to know how he knows. The photos in Lety’s office, and he tells him about the “working” dinner with the beautiful women….none can hold a candle to Lety though. He also tells Tom about the phone, and now the trip. But he decides he’s not going to let them know he knows what they are up to. Aldo II agrees they are best kept at a distance.

Back in NY Felix is pressing Oscar as to how his plan is going and Oscar is trying to cover. He tells Felix that Aldo is very astute and figured him out but he already devised another way to keep him away. There is a discussion about whether the Hawaiian girl is with them. He tells him about the trip. Fe mocks him and asks how long the trip is 2 or 3 years, and Oscar says no he’ll be back tomorrow and Fer says, yeah, well done there, Oscar. Patient Carla comes out and asks Fer again if they can continue the meeting and he tells her just one more secondito and he gets in his final "you better get this right, moron" admonishment at Omar before hanging up and rejoining the people he is trying to get to bail him out of his mess. On the sashay back, Carla pauses, turns to the camera, and gives us a Santa Claus finger on the nose knowing look. She’s got an idea.

Back at Conceptos, Tom comes in to tell Lety he has a dilemma. If it’s about Oxi she doesn’t want to hear it. He says no. They are friends right? Lety says of course why. He continues well I’m friends with Aldo too. He pauses, and then after making an important discovery to himself confirms that his friendship with her weighs more than his with Aldo. She applauds this since after all he only just met Aldo and he’s known her all his life. She’s very glad to hear this. He tells her that O & F want to separate her from Aldo. He then rehashes all of their efforts. This makes Lety determined. She decides to give them a surprise.

Back in NY Felix finally rejoins the meeting. They continue discussing the project. Carla says that here there is no culture of indigenous cuisine, that it all comes from somewhere else and that the Americans really love Mexican food. Most of the cooks in NY are Mexican as a matter of fact. He notes that a lot are from Puebla and launches into a mariachi “jingle” about Puebla, and it’s food, and it’s women. He’s not sure though if he likes it better in a rock version or opera. Carla notes that he must be very tired from the trip and that chronic stress like his can cause his energy to run out, because the adrenaline is flowing constantly; that stress causes us not to think clearly. He tells her he’s fine, and not to worry about his stress. She laughs and says they’ll adjourn until tomorrow am at 9:00. OK, I guess she’s found a polite way to address his antics. They all say good-byes, but then she asks him to remain, and says that stress is connected to fear and wonders if he is afraid of his female boss as she rubs him affectionately. Ok, now I’m not too fond of her. He awkwardly balks and asks if she is a publicist or a psychologist. She says both. He leaves. She hands him his phone that he forgot.

Lety walks into Oscar’s office and he is finishing up a call with the guy who needs to sign the contract. He hands it to Lety with pencil and says everything is ready here for Aldo to take for signature. She says, with a pencil. He puts it away. She tells him that she decided she’s going with. He is impactado. He tells her she has a lot to do here and well, ok, then he’ll go instead. But she reminds him he already said he had to stay to mind the other contracts. He remembers unfortunately he said that. Besides Aldo doesn’t have the authority to negotiate anything on behalf of Conceptos and it would look bad sending a rep that had no power. She then emphatically says as she puts down his toy car that she will then go with Aldo. And she’ll take the contract so it can be signed. With a pen!

We go back to NY where Carla and Fer are exiting the building and she asks where he’s going. He says he needs to go back to the hotel to listen to messages and check e-mail etc. She says how boring, you are in NY and you are going to stay locked up in your hotel? She asks him to let her tend to him since they are working together. This from the woman who ended the meeting because he’s so tired. She asks if he would rather take a cab, walk, or the subway. He doesn’t feel safe with the subway so they decide to walk. Hmm….

The Padilla’s show up at Conceptos and Lety invites them in to her office. While Erasmo admires her nameplate, they discuss that Aldo unfortunately can’t talk to Juli right now because he’s getting ready for a trip. Oh and by the way, I’m going with him. Erasmo is impactado, and Juli smiles.

Irma tells the cuartel how awful they treated Lety, their friend. Just then Lui walks up and tells the cuartel to remove their masks because Halloween is over already. He wants to know where the dancers are that he needs them right away and he sends Irma off for them. Ali interrupts and he says he will tend her in a minute. He then walks over to her and they are discussing that she has to be the one to find out from Tommy who is Aldo’s love interest. She asks if he is insinuating the she get together again, er she means ever, with him to acquire the info. Lui seemed to miss her slip up.

Omar decides he has to stop Lety from going on the trip, he barges into Aldo’s office, where Aldo has just finished saying how much better the trip would go if Lety came. He rushes in and tells Aldo that he better hurry up and leave because he doesn’t have much time. Aldo says he’s on his way after he says goodbye to Lety. Oscar grabs every reason he can, traffic, etc. to keep Aldo from talking to Lety.

Back in Lety’s office she begins to try to comfort Erasmo about the trip when Omar bursts in and says he’d like to let her know that Aldo has just left. She gets a very angry face and cut to the pool water….

Acorralada - #40 3-9-07 - Friday- Has Diana Turned to the Dark Side???

"I hope you won't make my brother suffer. Don't you dare Diana, because if you do, I swear I'll kill you."

We begin today's episode with these menacing words from our favorite stolen jewelry ring leader, Pancholon. Diana promises to take good care of Diego and reassures Lala.

Then the scene changes to an irate Octavia who is stolling along a pier with her less-intimidating sister Yolanda. They are discussing their most recent encounter with Fedora/Gaviota. Octavia reprimands Yolanda for being "una estupida" in reference to her immense fear of F/G. Yolanda fears F/G's revenge and wonders what she has in store for Max and Larry for having humiliated Diana and Gabby (aka Little Doormat). To which Octavia responds that Gaviota thinks of Gaby and Diana as her daughters that she lost long ago. Y then asks Octavia what she did with Gaviota's daughters, Octavia sent them to live with a "crazy old lady". She even goes as far as to hypothesize they may have died. Wishful thinking my dear Octavia, wishful thinking. If only she knew how close those two girls are.

Sad music infiltrates the background as we switch to a pensive Gaviota, wondering where and to whom Octavia gave her daughters away to. She revels in the possibility that Diana and Gaby might be hers, but she also comtemplates the possibility she may never reunite with her precious daughters.

Now we're in Diego's room where Diana walks in. He's quite optimistic he'll walk one day and is looking forward to his future with Diana and "his" baby. Diana remarks she'd prefer to have a boy, because in her opinion women suffer too much in life, and she tells Diego she even has a name picked out: Maximilliano. To this fact Diego reacts quiite poorly and spirals into a hissy fit. "Why must it be his name?! Can't we name him Diego?" Quite narcissistic if you ask me.
She then launches into a diatribe about how naming her son Max, he will suffer doubts about his paternity and her revenge will be underway.

Diana then runs out to the yard, Diego screaming after her, and D explains her plans to a curious Lala. Lala goes to console her son and he threatens that his love for Diana may easily turn into hatred toward her and her child.

A woman is lifting what can't be heavier than 5 pound weights from a wheelchair. Who may she be? If you guessed "The Real Marfil," you guessed right. She contemplates the moment she can expose her evil sister Deborah and the moment she recuperates her Max. Then her assitant lady walks in the door and has good news, they have tickets to Houston.

Next were in the Irazabal living room where Fake Marfil complains to Octavia about how Max would not have sex with her. Bruna the servant, chimes in she always advised Octavia to "correr" (kick out) Diana. (Since when does the hired help in novelas speak without permission?)
Oct. FM and Bruna complain about how horrible Diana and Gaby are, but Yolanda comes to their defense saying "their not all that bad." FM threatens Yolanda if she tells Max Diana is pregnant.

Pancholon snuck into Paola's house like Spiderman and launches into make-out mode. Paola remarks how Octave wants her to marry that dude Rene. Pancho says her cannot stop thinking about Diana, "She's a bad woman" he says. Paola says she does not seem so bad. Pancho declares his loyalty to Paola, claiming he has no memory of a "Caramelo"

In F/G's dressing room Caramelo discusses Diana's situation. She feels bad for her and is happy her Pancholon would "never cheat on her" and that he has "eyes only for her." Poor, poor naive Caramelito.

In Diego's room Diana watches him and trys to get him to eat. He expresses his great fear of losing her, and she asks him to have faith in her. She promises not to hurt him.

Back at Real Marfil's place Bruna is shocked that RM is gone. Bruna is visibly worried.

Back at Diana's place Fake Marfil arrives to cause trouble. She warns Diana to stay away from Max. FM wants to have a little vis-a-vis with Diego to warn him of Diana's questionable nature.
Diana defiantly yanks her across the room and tells her "Vete!" As FM moves to find Diego's "recamara" the new defiant Diana grabs a sharp pair of scissors and jabs them, stopping only inches from FM's neck. Defiant Diana is successful in repeling FM. Hooray!

Cut scene to good-for-nothing playboy Larry scantily clad laying next to the pool at the mansion. I just wonder why he cannot get a real job... He is on the phone. Apparently his depression is over and he's free to film more commercials. Oh joy >.> The world was just in desperate need of his grandiose acting skills!!! Not. Lala brings Sylvita, the nutcase that likes dressing up in wigs to the pool ,where she drools over Larry. And begs him to let her suntan with him.

Next we see Diana talking on the phone with Max, where she quite unconvincingly proclaim she loves Diego more than she ever loved Max. Cut to commercial break.

Now were in FM's room where she is hysteric after her encounter with Diana, only to find out Real Marfil has escaped.

Next more of Sylvita's comedic antics. She feared the sharks and pirahnas that lurk in the Irazabal pool.

Max proclaims his definitive goodbye to Diana and FM is still hysteric about RM's escape to Houston. And she tell Bruna she'll kill RM before she exposes her as a fake.

Sylvita and her cousin are in their apartment and she is sad her love-job with Estrella Cosmica didn't work.

FM enters Max's room and she takes advantage of him to rip his shirt open and ask "Do you love me?" only to realize he was asleep all along.

Now we see a shot saying "Meses Despues" (Months later) It seems we're near the birth of Diana and Max's baby.

Diana's belly his huge and her grandma warns her against overexerting herself. Diana admits to grandma that the months have not dulled her feelings of love for Max.

Octavia meets with Dr. Reynosa and tells him she wants to avoid him ridiculing himself by defending Fedora Garces, the grand ex-convict. Then the scene cuts to Diana having a heartfelt chat with granny. Diana tells granny she loves Max just as much as she did the very first day.
Granny had a feeling she did. Diana restates her conviction to staying beside her stalkerish husband Diego. Diana contemplates that Max may have forgetten her and fallen in love with Marfil again.

Yolanda and Max watch over an ailing granny (Max's granny) and Y leaves for help.
Max comforts his granny and she moans "Dianita....el bebe" but Max does not seem to pay her babbling any mind. Dr. Reynosa resolves to clear Gaviota's name and promises to return to F/G her belongings, those being the Irazabal mansion, their fortune, and Fedora's perfume company.
Dr. Evil groans at the idea of having to treat Dona Santa, as he had plans to lift some iron at a gym.

The "Good" doctor arrives at the mansion. FM tells Bruna she'd rather go shopping than to watch "the antique" keel over. Paola, Larry, Max and Yolanda watch over Santa. Deborah aka Fake Marfil tells the lowly chauffer (sp?) to move the doctor's car out of the driveway. Andres recognizes FM as Deborah and the credits roll.

This is my first recap. I hope I did a good job and I can only hope to improve my recap-writing skills in the future.

Zorro--Thursday March 8: Things are Getting a Little Hot in Here....

I am posting this in a hurry, so I apologize for any and all typos. Since I'm a little OCD and can edit this, I'll try to clean it up later on, but for now here it is....

The show starts off where yesterday’s episode ended, Cmdr. Ricardo Montero and Governor Fernando Sanchez in the midst of a duel. Well-choreographed swords are being brandished, until Fernando plays dirty and cuts Montero on the site of his old wound (on yesterday’s show he kicked him in the same spot right when the duel began). Montero collapses to the ground in pain and tells Fernando to go ahead and kill him, that obviously he (FS) wants Montero dead because Montero knows that Fernando killed the Viceroy’s inspector.****Little history, the Viceroy sent an inspector to check out Montero’s prison, he was looking for a woman prisoner, who is very important to the crown. He was unable to find this prisoner because Fernando shot him dead, right in front of Pizarro and Montero. Fernando told the two that they were now a party to the crime and therefore they must work together. The prisoner of which we are speaking about is Sara Kali, Esmerelda’s mother and Fernando’s wife, presumed to be dead, but oh very much alive. Sara Kali we know is a gypsy queen and is forced to wear a paper mache mask and act like it is really made of iron. Her gypsy friends know that she is in the prison and send a white rodent w/ a small tail into the prison, carrying notes back and forth to her. Esme now knows that her mother is in the prison, she had a chance to snoop around one day and miraculously found her, but more on that later.**** OK, back to the duel, Fernando tells RM that he doesn’t want him dead, and that RM has committed some crimes himself, so Fer isn’t too worried. In fact, Fer tells him that he wants RM quite alive that the two of them can do great things together. They can maintain order in the city through fear and to accomplish this they need to support each other. Fer tells RM to forget about the foolish marriage to Esme, that they have bigger fish to fry and Esme really isn’t deserving of RM. The two men shake hands and agree to be a team. However, Fernando tells Montero that there will be no retribution against either Diego or Esme. Montero agrees, as if he is trustworthy.

Fer is quite happy that he has met his obligation for stopping the duel and now it is up to Maria Pia to fulfill her part of the agreement.

Back in town there is a funeral, the Mother Superior of the almost convent has died. Nutty Nun (Sister Suplicios) and Maria Pia are going to the burial. Nutty Nun tells MP that she is the perfect person to succeed the Mother Superior. MP says she’s not worthy, and this causes Nutty Nun to spout out all of Maria Pia’s saint like virtues. Maria Pia just walks away, and from the look on Nutty Nun’s face, she isn’t happy.

Later that evening, at la casa de de la Vega (Diego and Alejandro’s home) we have a meeting between the two newly engaged couples (Alejandro and Almudena & Diego and Esme). Fernando is there filling them in on what happened with Montero, but leaving out some very incriminating parts. Fer asks for Diego’s forgiveness and offers him his daughter for marriage. They all toast the two couples and the idea for a double wedding is born. While Yumali, Alejandro’s Indian servant, watches in the wings. Fer then hightails it out of there, he’s got a date. While the remaining group of people begin to discuss all that Maria Pia has done to help them and they talk about how she should be a saint. The next scene shows Maria Pia sneaking out of the convent, dressed in regular non-nunlike clothing and a black cape to better blend into the night.

Montero and Mariangel are now together bemoaning their thwarted “romances” respectively with Esme and Diego. Montero blames Mariangel for getting Fernando to change his mind and stop the duel. He starts to rough her up as he yells at her. MA logically tries to tell him that the broken engagement isn’t in her best interest and she tells Montero that Maria Pia intervened. The two begin to speculate about what power this meddling nun has over Fernando. Montero thinks she blackmailed him, but then remembers that the two used to be engaged. Montero’s sick mind figures out that Maria Pia most likely offered herself as the deal maker, that she is offering to Fernando now what she denied him in their youth (as this is something that Montero would probably do himself, I suspect that he is impressed by Fernando’s actions). Mariangel swears that Diego and Esme will never marry.

Cut to the next scene with Al & Al and Diego& Esme. They are discussing how Maria Pia was able to convince Fernando. How noble Fernando is to listen to Maria Pia’s pleas and grant her request all the while asking for nothing in return (HA!!).

Maria Pia arrives at the cabin, and romantically Fernando has it all candle lit, oh wait candle light is all they pretty much had back then. Anyway, he’s got the stage set for seduction. Fer is really nervous, and I can’t help but thinking that he might really love her, that perhaps he isn’t just obsessed with her, but I digress. MP says she is ready to fulfill her part of the deal. Fer tells her that she is more beautiful than ever (note, she does look pretty nice and it appears that she even had her hair done for the occasion). Fer leans into kiss her and she is unresponsive. All of this is being witnessed by Nutty Nun, who is peaking through a window (? or some opening in the wall). Fer starts to undress Maria Pia and she begins to cry. Fer thinks that this is her first time and decides to ask her if it is (smooth). He is really happy with the thought that he will be her first and only (perhaps he is assuming to much to think she’ll never do this again). Nutty Nun freaks, I mean FREAKS out. She goes running away from the cabin cursing Satan. He’s possessed Maria Pia and he’s doing this to punish Nutty Nun. She’s officially turned into Sister Psycho now. Sister Psycho has flipped and rages that the devil has turned Maria Pia’s purity into garbage. Then she starts laughing (I think).

Back in town the priest, Padre Tomas, gets a surprise visit from the Cardinal. He’s come all the way from Rome and apparently the letter informing Padre of the visit got lost in the mail (it was an excuse even back then). The Cardinal is here to tell the Mother Superior that the Pope has decided to let their almost convent really become a convent and an official Order of Nuns. Padre Tomas tells the man in red that unfortunately in a strange twist of fate, they buried the Mother Superior just that day. The Cardinal says they need to find a successor and Padre Tomas has just the person in mind---Maria Pia. The Cardinal asks some questions and then decides that he wants to meet her right away, since the convent is right next door to the church. Padre Tomas tries to stall and the Cardinal suspects that the nuns are able to come and go freely from the convent at night. By Padre Tomas’s reaction, I’m beginning to think he might know what’s going on between Fernando and Maria Pia, but I don’t recall seeing any scene where that was revealed to him. Anyway, the Cardinal is a little put out that he cannot meet Maria Pia. Padre Tomas tells him that he’ll arrange a meeting tomorrow. The Cardinal states that MP better be a suitable replacement for the Mother Superior. He is going to be watching her closely, looking for any fault.

Back to the de la Vega home, the two couples have split up so they can have their respective conversations. Diego and Esme discuss their upcoming marriage and Esme mentions that she has always been unlucky , so she has a little fear that something may go wrong. Diego tells her not to worry and they start to talk about the wedding. Esme wants to give Diego a happy wedding, to have a gypsy wedding. Diego tells Esme that Zorro is going to get her mother out of prison (as a wedding gift?). Esme begs him not to do it, that it would be too dangerous. She’s been in the prison and knows that it won’t be easy to get her mother out (yet she just found her when she was sneaking around the prison and apparently found a way to get through locked doors, too). She is even more fearful because she knows that Montero wants to catch Zorro and find him guilty of killing the Viceroy’s inspector. Esme says that the gypsies are working on a plan to get Sara Kali out of prison, why doesn’t Diego just leave it to them. Diego doesn’t want to risk others and says he can go it alone, that Esme should have faith in him. He knows he has resources that Montero won’t be able to defeat. He wants to do this to express his love for Esme and also to give meaning to what Maria Pia has done for them.

In another part of the house, Alejandro(aka Al) and Almudena (aka Dena) are together and Yumali (aka Yumi) is watching from a distance. Dena calls out to Yumi, but greets her with her “white” name, Guadalupe. Dena can sense with her female intuition that Yumi is a threat to her and Al. She tries to make nice, and calls Yumi by her Indian name. She says that she wants to be Yumi’s friend (that’s right, keep your friends close and your enemies closer). Some talk is made about Yumi not wearing shoes and Dena wanting to be Yumi’s godmother. Dena tells Yumi that she can help her learn to be a Spanish lady. Yumi doesn’t want any part of it and walks away. Al tries to make excuses for Yumi’s behavior, but I don’t think that Dena buys it. Yumi goes to the kitchen and starts pumping Dolores for info about Al’s dead wife, Regina. Yumi finds out that she’s Regina’s spitting image and she decides that she can use Al’s love for his first wife to her advantage. Looking in a mirror Yumi decides that she can become a proper lady, and pulls her hair up to admire how she’d look.

The two couples get back together and discuss what it will be like for them all to live at the hacienda together. The women decide that they should have Maria Pia be their maid of honor for the double wedding, after all she is responsible for getting Fer to allow Diego and Esme to marry. It has started to rain, and the men decide to get the ladies home before the weather gets any worse. Diego “signs” to Bernardo to get the carriage ready for them to leave.

At the governor’s mansion, Mariangel returns drunk. She wakes up Olmos, who is dressed in his Wee Willy Winky pajama set, including the long cap. She demands that Olmos obtain a love potion for her to use on Diego. Olmos tells her that he knows nothing of brujerías (witchcraft) and hechiceras (sorceresses). Mariangel threatens him and Olmos tells her that she doesn’t need to threaten him, he’d gladly do anything for her from his heart. She mocks him and calls him a monster, asks him if monster’s have hearts. MA tells Olmos that he is pathetic, laughs at him cruelly and leaves. To the mirror, Olmos says that MA has stolen his heart, but he’s going to help her. “No good will come to Diego”.

Diego gets the ladies home and while he is saying his goodbyes to Esme, Mariangel comes downstairs scantily clad. MA wants to talk about what happened with the duel and Esme tells her that there is some good news, their father has agreed to their marriage. Esme is smug as she says this (and she turns Diego away, getting MA from his line of sight). There is no love loss between these two sisters, that’s for sure. After Diego leaves, the two women exchange words. MA speaks in veiled threats and figuratively throws down the glove. She tells Esme that she didn’t get dragged to this undesirable city for nothing. She is going to marry the best man in town, end of story. Esme wants her to clarify what she means, but MA does not follow that request and leaves the room. Come on Esme, you cannot be dumb enough to not figure out what MA meant.

Al and Diego are both at home and they rehash. Al is worried and wants Diego to be on guard for Montero’s vengeance. Diego tells his father that he is aware of Montero’s hate.

Switch to Montero and Pizarro back at the prison. Montero vows to get revenge. He decides that he’s going to start by messing with Esme’s mother---he’ll find out her secrets and then kill her. He doesn’t trust Fernando and figures that whatever Sara Kali knows will be very valuable to use against Fernando. Then when he’s done with Sara Kali, he’s going to wipe the superior look off of Diego’s face once and for all. With Diego out of the picture, Esme will be his next victim. He will make her his, then beat her and return her to Fernando as damaged goods. He doesn’t stop there, he’s decided to get revenge on the entire town. He intends to run the city through terror and fear.

In the gypsy camp, a woman sees lightening flash from the storm and reads it as a bad omen. She spouts out some doom and gloom and ends with “someone is digging a grave.” Gypsy woman reads Tarot cards when gypsy man arrives. He discovered that the rodent has returned from prison (what a weird sentence to type!). The rodent still carries the message they sent to Sara Kali. The gypsy woman fears what the cards are telling her, she worries that they are going to kill Sara Kali.

In the prison dungeon, Hermes, who appears to be the lifer inmate, tells Sara Kali that he hears a lot of movement from the soldiers. He also smells a scent that provokes bad memories. Memories of when they burned a prisoner alive about 15 years ago.

Fer continues to kiss Maria Pia, while removing her clothes. He is quite impressed with her feminine attributes. He continues to kiss her, but she doesn’t respond and he wants to know why. She tells him that she is just keeping her word. He can have her body, but her mind is elsewhere. Fern is ticked. He wants her to be an active participant, to show her love like he wants to show his. Maria Pia tells him that she is just doing as he ordered. She is not there because she wants to be, she is there because Fernando gave her no other choice.

Nutty Nun, I mean Sister Psycho is out crying and screaming in the rain (she’s not laughing). It looks like there are some dark clouds gathering around her, to represent an evil presence? Sister Psycho is very angry with Maria Pia and calls her a hypocrite.

Fer tells Maria Pia to go. She hesitates because she is afraid that he’s going to go back on his word. He tells her that he cannot stand her coldness and indifference, that she should just go. He blames God for taking her away so many years ago. Maria Pia flees and cries. Outside the cabin, away from Fernando, she says to herself that she doesn’t know what to feel. She says she still loves Fernando, but why did he do such terrible things. It wasn’t God that took her away from him, but Fernando’s own actions. Back in the cabin, Fernando curses himself. He feels bad that he put Maria Pia in such a position, to all but force her to sleep with him. He thought it was something they both wanted, but from her response he knows that isn’t true. Fernando doesn’t know what he can do about his damn love. He says that Maria Pia’s God , if he is a God of love, should make him free of her. He’s turned into a monster and he’s afraid that he will only cause Maria Pia more pain. (Ed. Note, I have to say that after this scene I’m beginning to think that there is a much softer side to Fernando. I was honestly shocked he didn’t take complete advantage of the situation. Fernando obviously has more shades of gray than the typical B&W novela characters.)

Maria Pia, rubbing her lips, is amazed that Fernando let her go, that he didn’t follow through with his plan, that he didn’t touch her (can we say euphamism). She is amazed that he was incapable of shaming her. She tells herself that he still loves her, like she’s figuring it out for the first time.

Diego and Al continue to rehash (they are almost as bad as Fernando and Omar from La Fea). Al remembers how upset Maria Pia was when she heard that Fernando was returning to Los Angeles. Al is amazed that she would have even approached Fernando to ask him to bring an end to the duel. The only slightly significant thing said is that Al is worried (big surprise there) and suspects that Maria Pia might still be in love with Fernando.

Fernando goes to the bar and drinks. Maria Pia arrives back in her room at the convent. She flashes back to Fernando kissing her and removing her clothes. It appears that she is thinking of it fondly. She pulls back her bed covers and discovers an inverted cross on her pillow.

Flash to Sister Psycho laughing (oh, so now she’s laughing) and creepy music is playing.

Montero has Sara Kali removed from her prison cell. He wants her to give him info on Fernando. She refuses and tells him that she knows he can’t hurt her. He calls her bluff and tells her that he’ll have her burned at the stake. We then see Sara Kali tied up to a wood pile outside and Montero holds a torch, demanding that she tell him why she is important to the crown.
The next day, Diego and Esme are meeting outside (by a river?). They are kissing and declaring their love when a group of gypsies (or is it a band of gypsies?) approach. Diego asks Esme to introduce him to her family, but now is not the time, they apparently come with bad news. END OF THE EPISODE

CELOTIPIA

I just found out that Don Loco's medical condition is for real so I did some digging and found an article about it and I translated it into English, I hope it makes sense because some of the words were hard to translate. In fairness to all sexes I tried to use he/she pronouns where possible, so if it sounds confusing in that aspect I apologize.

THE WEB OF PATHOLOGICAL JEALOUSY
Source: Newspaper El Pais, 01-03-99
ESTER RAMOS, Barcelona (01-03-99)

E.M.R., of 40 years, was arrested some weeks ago by attacking his wife, F.AND., with an ax when she was on her way out of his house, El Masnou ( Barcelona), accompanied by a friend that was going to take her to work. The cause: "A question of jealousy", the victim later said. F.E assured the police that that was the first time that his husband had violent attitudes toward her.

Fortunately, the aggression did not have irreversible consequences. But, in many cases, the tangle of jealousy traps its victims in such a way the ends in tragedy. And, in fact, the celotipia is one of the main causes of aggressions to the women, as verified by the Public Defender in its report : Domestic violence against women.

With a lot frequency, violence and jealousy are usually two sides of the same coin. The aggressor, affirms the report, is " deeply and pathologically jealous. It desires exclusiveness, wants to be the first one and the only one who gets the woman's attention. Because of this, a huge part of the acts of violence are initiated on the erroneous perception that she, his woman, can leave him". "For the violent man, each situation that he interprets as a challenge, he views it like the end of his being. It is then when over comes those states by way of violent acts", explains the study.

But celotipia is not only just in men. Jealous women exist also, although the main difference between men and jealous women would be the type of aggressiveness that each one practices based on the respective pathology. According to Ángeles Sanz, director of the department of sexual problems and of couples of the Center of Investigation and Behavior Therapy of Madrid, "the women celotípicas practice an aggressiveness sometimes based on contempt or ignorance, others in emotional blackmail toward the couple (for example, to threaten suicide); on the other hand, in the jealous men, besides this type of passive aggressiveness, they frequently use active aggressiveness, that is to say, aggressiveness that involves physical violence".

But what is jealousy and when do they become pathological? According to Sanz, "in every relationship there has to be and there is jealousy on the part of both. In relationships there exists a component of love, but also of obsession. And the problem, the pathology, appears when said obsession goes to such extremes that the jealous one interprets any conduct of his significant other as an attack". Every action is interpreted as a contradiction against him/her. "A phrase like, You look good today" would be interpreted by the jealous one like, Later, normally you don't think I look good."

Insecure and controller

Ramon Gaja, director of the Higher Institute of Psychological Studies of Barcelona, defines the profile of a celotípico as a person "of intrusive thoughts whose lives function on the possible infidelity of its significant other and that, in spite of being annoyed, at times he/she can even feel a certain pleasure thinking about that infidelity. Normally, they are insecure people, of very traditional thinking, of low self-esteem and, in many cases, with a very peculiar infancy". Sanz describes them as "controllers, irrational, alarmists and with zero capacity to objectify reality".

The celotípico magnifies, exaggerates. With his attitude he ends up conditioning all the movements of the significant other. And even the thoughts. "In cases of very exaggerated celotipia there is lack of medication. In others, it more psychotherapy is more efficient ", argues the psychologist. The therapy should be separate for the celotípico and its victim, since the first one, with its attitude, causes psychological conflicts in the second.

Once the diagnosis is done, the first step is that the jealous one must recognize his/her pathology. From here, the therapy is carried out separately: in the jealous one, by means of controlling his/her thoughts, and for the victim, with techniques that teach him/her not to continue the charade, because many times to avoid annoyance the lie results in a contrary purpose: raises suspicion, explains Sanz.

For the celotípico to come to recognize his/her pathology, it is of great aid to make him/her register their own behaviors and to verbalize them. At the same time, it is a matter of obtaining increased happiness day to day, since the jealous one wastes time in thinking what his significant other is doing, and if they are together, criticizing on what he/she is thinking. The second step to achieve is to admit the contradiction: that when the significant other rejects its pretensions, the exit is not an imposition, but simply a negation. [This sounds too technical so not sure what they are trying to say here]

Learn to say No

In the case of the victim, learning to say no is a matter of modifying attitude: " Never lie to the jealous one to avoid a conflict, the only thing that will happen is reinforce the obsession. The celotípicos ask and they control so much that almost always discover the deceit", points Sanz.

On the other hand, it impositions should be rejected, since the jealous one always interprets the results in a twisted way. "You should never let the jealous one impose his/her mandates, should not agree to the blackmail", indicates Sanz. "For example, if he does not want u to wear the miniskirt because you’ll attract the look of other men, to accept this imposition implies accepting his logic and to reinforce it".

After concluding the individual therapies phase, joint therapy should be done to readjust the relationship: thereby teaching communication and to resolve the situations of conflict. "When he/she arrives at this phase, the results of the therapy are very good. The problem is that it is socially acceptable that all we be a little jealous, and few couples recognize the pathology and they have to resort to a specialist", indicates Sanz.

18% of the couples that attend therapies in Cinteco represent as cause of its unhappiness the conflicts caused by jealousy. "In no culture does it exists to go to a psychologist for a problem of jealousy", corroborates Gaja. If there they were, many deaths and a lot of unhappiness would be avoided.

Mundo de Fieras, Thursday March 8

Cande is spilling the beans to Mayeya that Miriam is Leo’s real mom and he hears it all and starts to hyperventilate. He goes to church to have a mini-breakdown. He prays to la virgencita about having such a crappy mom, “What’s a boy to do?” He tells the priest, who already knew but whose lips were sealed vis a vis the confession defense. Leo whines that he was much happier without knowing the truth and now has tons of questions.

Dolores goes to D’s house to get some stuff for Tiberio, but D is in a grand funk. She tries to talk him out of it, to no avail.

Gabriel is missing MA and feeling sorry for himself and how lonely he is.

MA is remembering happier moments that didn’t involve bondage by duct tape and old smelly bandanas. What a great opportunity for a flashback! She starts praying, and even the kidnapper is impressed with her strength of character.

Leo goes to confront Miriam and looks none too happy about it. Miriam’s not too pleased either, but finally blurts out the truth, she’s his mom. Wondering why she never said anything or didn’t look for him, she says that when Cande started working there, she didn’t know for awhile that he was her son and she never looked for him because she wanted to leave the past in the past. She tells him that she was too poor when she had him, and that if she kept him, she never would have gotten to where she is today. He calls her on it, saying that she traded her son for money. She tells him to stuff it, hasn’t he been happy with Cande in that neighborhood. He says, yes, I have been happy, because in that neighborhood we have something better than money, something that she will never have (since you can’t buy it in a store), values, feelings and heart. Leo’s not done yet though, then he tells Miriam that Thanks be to God, that she abandoned him, so that he could find out what a real mother acts like. Then he compares himself with Joselyn and how much better his life turned out. As he leaves, he asks who his father is…but she doesn’t tell him. He leaves and she cries.

Otilia visits Cande to see how Leo is doing, and (oops!) ends up spilling the beans about Elsa not working for her anymore. Cande goes to ask Elsa about it. Elsa has a little fit that Cande prefers everyone else to her and doesn’t support her, her real daughter. Wah wah wah.

Pau tells JC that she wants to find out who her real mom is.

Gabe is flashing back again (apparently he doesn’t believe in Miriam’s philosophy of leaving the past in the past) and whining how much he loves MA, and how much he misses her.

Safari Prey Joselyn (kind of like Malibu Barbie) comes in to find out how Miriam is, but really just wants to make sure she doesn’t anything stupid…like share anything with Leo. Jossie tells her mom that she doesn’t have any feelings, so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Cande’s worried about Leo, who arrives and tells her that he knows the truth about Miriam. He tells her all about it and they cry and hold each other. He tells her that she’s his real, only mom and that Miriam is just an old selfish bitch. (well okay, he didn’t say that, but he wanted to.)

Gabe, JC & Pau are chatting about the recent arson that affected Leo. JC thinks it was probably his dad. JC visits Leo (who is now limping around like House) and Leo tells him all about his mommy and how confused he is. JC offers his help & support and they give each other a big ole hug.

Delores and Tiberio are having coffee. Tiberio forgot to take his medication that morning and is acting very paranoid. Dude, maybe coffee’s not such a good idea.

Cande goes to confront Miriam. Actually she just went to pour some salt into Miriam’s wounds, telling her that Leo loves her more. It kind of sounded like a playground fight there for awhile (nyah nyah nyah nyah nahhhhh), Miriam probably just wanted to stick her tongue out at Cande as she walked out the door.

Continuing in the family reunion theme, Leo goes to chat with sissy, who doesn’t really know what to do or say. He offers to be her big brother and she opens the door for him to get the heck out. My tivo ended there.

La Fea Más Bella #227 3/8/07 Could a Mexican Accent Be Any Sexier?

Marcia calls Fern in N.Y. to demand an explanation of why his picture is in Lety’s office. She says she knows he ordered Omar to do it. She is especially ticked off that Omar cut her out of the picture. Fern swears that did not tell Omar to cut Marcia out of his life. Marcia calls them both infantile. She says she knows he still loves Lety. She slams the phone down, which leaves him so aggravated that he is tempted to throw his cell phone into the water behind him. He regains his composure and kisses the phone, apparently remembering that it is his only link to Lety while he is in N.Y.

He immediately calls Omar [did you marvel at how easily he was able to dial the number even with his leather gloves on? I did!] Fern yells at him over the dumb plan, and moreover for getting caught by Marcia. Omar says he only agreed to take part in this idiotic scheme because he is worried about Aldo’s intentions with the company. Besides, what did Fern expect when he gave Omar his instructions at 5 in the morning? Fern tells Omar that he has a fancy new phone, and for the benefit of us who don’t know how advanced these new-fangled contraptions are, he explains that he can receive emails, pictures, etc. on it. He orders Omar to send him a picture of Lety. Omar agrees to do so but hopes Fern has purchased anti-gargoyle-virus software for the phone.

Omar sneaks into conference room with his camera. He listens at Lety’s door but doesn’t hear her comment to herself about how stupid he is for planting Fern’s picture there. Aldo stops by to visit Lety. As he walks in, Lety suavely places the fruit basket he gave her earlier on top of Fern’s photocopied picture on her desk. As they chat, Omar reaches over the doorframe with his camera and takes picture from above the door [I guess that’s supposed to be a window above the door between the presidential office and the conference]. Aldo presents an oral dissertation on mole. He pitches idea of asking Julieta to help with mole preparation. Lety loves the idea. They continue to talk and Aldo picks up basket to ask why she hasn’t eaten the fruit. He sees the photo under the basket and mutters “Fern Mendiola… Fernando Mendiola…Grrr…” Lety explains Omar the Imbeciles’ practical joke. Aldo wonders why on earth Omar would do that.

We get scenes of N.Y. Fern walks along thinking that when he gets back he will definitely show Lety how much he loves her. He thinks they should be walking here hand--in-hand, enjoying N.Y. together. He sits on some steps and thinks that he should get her a gift that will show her how he feels -- something spiritual, or perhaps he should write her a letter… no, he decides a letter is a bad, bad, bad idea. In any case, he is determined that seguramente (surely; without a doubt) he will prove his love when he returns.

A weird scene follows where he walks through a small crowd of people. One of the women remarks that he is a beautiful man. The rest of the group laughs at this and he walks away anxiously. Huh? What the heck was that about?

He hails a cab, and so does a new mysterious woman. She’s beautiful and wears a trendy cap. They argue about who needs the cab more. They discover they are both Mexican and switch their arguing from English to Spanish. He explains that he must get to a meeting and the future of his company depends on it, etc., etc. The cabbie yells at them to get in. A double-decker bus with a big colorful “MEXICO” sign which I recognize from the Mexico tourism ads passes by [what a coincidence… NOT!]. Anyway, the new girl wants to share the cab with him. Fern looks at her like a recovering alcoholic might look at a big bottle of whiskey just sitting on the shelf and no one around to stop him from taking a swig… in other words, he knows better stay away from her. He politely walks her over to another cab and directs her into it. As he walks back to his own cab, she calls him neurotic. He yells back “Yeah, welcome to N.Y.!” The girl marvels at his lusciousness and prays, “Oh please God give me that man, I want him for me. He’s neurotic but he’s so cute! Oh well I’ll never see him again.”

Omar emails Fern a picture of Lety looking very uncomfortable.

Lety tells Aldo she thinks Omar just planted the picture just to bug her, and he succeeded.

Omar talks to a client, who can not meet with him because he is at a golf tournament. Omar says he will find a solution and call him back. He hangs up and ponders whether Fern would kill him if he went to left the office to go waaaay over to wherever the tournament is to get the contract signed.

Aldo continues to flirt with Lety in her office and Omar sneaks in. They are standing too close for Omar’s comfort and he interrupts them. He tells Aldo he would like to Aldo to go with him right now to meet some clients. Aldo accepts. After Omar leaves Aldo tell Lety he only agreed to go because he wants to figure out what’s going on in Aldo’s puny little mind.

In the cab, Fern receives Lety’s picture via his cool new phone. He shows the picture to the cabbie. The cabbie remarks that she is beautiful, he can tell she has a beautiful soul. Fern, who is not used to this kind of reaction he shows Lety’s picture to others, is visibly pleased. He exclaims “Man I like you already!” [inEnglish!!] The cabbie warns Fern that she’s going to drive him crazy. Fern replies that actually, he’s already crazy-- crazy for her! [Okay, stop and rewind to enjoy Fern speaking English in his irresistable Mexican accent again; stop; rewind; stop; rewind... sigh!]

Tomas gives Marcia the tickets and stuff she needs for the trip. Marcia scolds him and says that because of him she had a nasty run-in with Lety. Not realizing Tomas is already in Marcia’s office, Alicia walks in to tell Marcia that he is back. Tomas excuses himself. Alicia begs again for Marcia’s car. After much dramatic griping, Marcia agrees and hands over the keys. She says she is lending Alicia the car on the condition that she keep her informed of Lety’s activities, especially if she (Lety) leaves the country. Marcia walks out and Alicia kisses Tomas’s phone and Marcia’s keys. She begs God to never let her be poor again.

Fern is on the phone with Omar again. He sits at a fountain and thanks Omar for sending the picture. He is very pleased with it. Omar remarks that he knows love is blind, but never he knew just how much! He reports that he walked in on Lety and Aldo in her office, and that he had to “throw water on them to separate them.” [His choice of imagery gets more and more repulsive, what a talent!] He says he plans to become friends with Aldo in order to find out his intentions.

Aldo walks into the vortex and everyone jumps at the chance to fawn all over him. Luigi invites him to lunch, and so does Alicia. Aldo says he would love to go with both of them, but he has a business lunch to go to. He walks away with Omar and everyone waves goodbye and throw kisses at him.

Tomas sneaks up on Alicia to invite her to lunch. Alicia agrees but suddenly remembers she’s having lunch with her dad. Tomas senses that she is lying to him.

Lety calls mom to tell her about Aldo’s mole idea. She’s honored and excited. The cuartel walks in and yells greetings into the phone. Lety hangs up and agrees to lunch with her friends. Meanwhile, at home, Erasmo is ticked that Julieta accepted the job without consulting with him.

In the downstairs lobby, Alicia asks Saimon if he has any snacks. Tomas walks in and asks if she’s reconsidered his lunch offer. Alicia admits that she lied because she does not want to be seen in public with him. Celso walks by with Sanson and a box of dog biscuits. Alicia’s mouth waters. Tomas tells her that if she eats with him, she will get a better lunch than dog biscuits. He offers to order food to be delivered so they can eat there at the office.

Lety and the cuartel go to an open air restaurant. They ask for the gossip about the fight between Aldo and Fern. They guess that the second man that the PG was talking about is Aldo and demand that Lety confirm this.

Fern sits in an empty meeting room and looks at Lety’s picture. He talks into his phone, pretending to do a talk show, and rehashes to himself, “Here I am in N.Y.. I met a gorgeous woman, and promptly put her in another cab. I don’t need the temptation… Well my friends, until next time…” Impressed with himself, he remarks that he should have been a deejay.

Aldo and Omar sit down at a restaurant and share a toast. Aldo savors his wine while Omar gulps his down. Omar starts to question Aldo about his taste in women… does he like them blonde or dark? Aldo says he’d rather talk about business. Omar says he forgot the business documents. He tells Aldo he seems very nice and intelligent, and that they could be excellent friends. He complains about his friendship with Fern, and all the stuff he’s had to do for Fern since they were kids. He says Fern is unstable. Aldo asks Omar to honest, he knows the business meeting was a pretext to get him here, and ask what Omar really wants. Just then two women walk in and recognize Omar.

Fern tells people at the meeting that he was late because of the argument with the woman over the cab. Just then the same woman walks into the meeting room. His jaw drops. They introduce her as Karla, the publicity agent who has been assigned to his account. He smiles uncomfortably [be strong, Fern!]. She asks him to explain his project. He gets excited and says they are going to love this idea. He begins to pull out papers haphazardly from his case and makes a big mess on the table.

The two pretty women join Omar and Aldo at their table. They try to converse with Aldo, but he gets a call and walks away to answer it. The women tell Omar that he was right, Aldo is guapisimo. Omar tells them he had to use the pretext of a business meeting with clients to get him to come. Aldo returns and says they should order because in a hurry to return to work.

The cuartel is relentlessly trying to get some juicy gossip from , Lety, but she refuses. Irmita defends Lety’s right to keep it to herself. They ask to know just one thing-- what did Fern and Aldo came to blows about. She says it was about work. They don’t believe it. Lety finally agrees to tell them. She says, “They fought over me. They are both in love with me, Leticia Padilla Solis!”

Will the cuartel believe Lety?
Will Fernando keep away from Karla, or will he fall off the wagon?
Will Alicia eat lunch and bust out of her outfit? ... And if that happens, will Tomas be lucky enough to be around to see it?

Zorro, Wed. March 7th--To Duel or Not Duel, That is the Question....

OK--I've volunteered to do Zorro recaps. I don't know how often they'll be done, but I'll at least get a weekly recap done. If anyone else would like to help recap this novela, I'm willing to work on a team. I recapped Wed. episode, just to give it a trial run and to see how long it takes me. I cannot promise that future recaps will be this long. I'm going to try to condense, in terms of words and time. Of course, I've been known to take a short story and make it long---I'll try to overcome that tendency. So hopefully I'll get better at all of this. Anyway, on with the show....

Esmerelda faints at the news that tomorrow she'll be wed to Cmdr. Montero (weasel face-as coined by someone else in an earlier post) and that Montero's duel with Diego (aka Zorro) will convene at dawn.

Meanwhile back at the ranch....Alejandro and Diego de la Vega are visited by Maria Pia who informs them that there will be no duel and that Diego and Esme will be getting Fernando’s approval to marry once she fixes some things. Alejandro is worried that Montero won’t take the news very well. He reminds Diego and MP that although Fernando is the governor, Montero is the head of the military and with the army behind him Montero could cause a lot of problems. Diego is quite happy that he’s going to be able to marry Esme, but worries that Maria Pia looks sad. She assures him not to worry and that she has fixed things with Fernando because there is no one she cares for more than her sobrino, Diego.

Upstairs at the governor’s house, Esme has been taken there after she fainted. Her aunt (cannot remember her name), Mariangel (her sister) , and Montero are all hovering around her bed. Esme’s tia sends the other two away as she takes care of Esme. When Esme revives she and her tia discuss what happened with Maria Pia. They both were sure that she would be able to convince Fernando to stop the duel and allow Diego and Esme to marry. Esme wants to know why her father hates her so.

Meanwhile, downstairs Fernando (eye patch man/governor) is busy getting drunk and moaning that if he cannot be happy no one should be happy. Montero comes down from Esme’s room and Fernando starts rehashing things with Cmdr. Montero. Right now, Fernando doesn’t think that Maria Pia will live up to her end of the bargain, so tomorrow’s wedding is still on in his mind. He tells Montero that once he is married to Esme she will be his problem, yadda, yadda, yadda. Montero says he’ll tame Esme and she’ll be a most dutiful wife (he’s a pig). He changes subjects and tells Fernando that we will soon know the true identity of Zorro, but doesn’t give too many details on his plans.

Cut to Maria Pia praying to God, asking for forgiveness for what she is about to do. She tells God that Fernando can have her body, but that her soul will always belong to God. I’m not quite sure what God thinks about this. Immediately after her prayer we get a scene w/ MP and Fernando getting it on. That was quite quick, but wait it is a dream. And the sick thing is, it wasn’t either Fernando’s or Maria Pia’s dream, it was Sister Suplicious (sp?), the psycho sister or nutty nun—take your pick. She wakes up with a start and feels guilty for thinking of MP that way. Nutty Nun goes to find MP and confesses to her about her dream. MP is a little freaked out considering the conversation she just had with God. Nutty Nun tells MP that there has been some chisme in the convent about the fact that Maria Pia and Fernando used to be engaged a long time ago. She also tells MP that the voice she heard the other night in the convent was Fernando’s voice. Maria Pia tells Nutty Nun that she’s going out for the evening to take care of family business. She needs to go see her hermano, Alejandro.

Back to Fernando. He’s still drinking and moaning that he feels nothing without Maria Pia. He pulls out his pistol stating that he would give his life for her, but then doesn’t follow through.

Meanwhile, back at casa de los de la Vega, Alejandro and Diego are visited by Montero’s lieutenant Pizzaro (truly an evil man, IMO). He brings news of the duel that it will begin tomorrow at dawn outside the city. Brilliantly, Diego and Alejandro deduce that MP was unable to convince Fernando to bring an end to the whole thing. Diego isn’t concerned the whole thing can go as planned, after all he’s got a secret weapon---he is really El Zorro.

In the local bar, the hunchback Olmos meets with the prissy Tobias. He knows that Tobi is going to contact some people back in Spain to see if he can get a lead on Zorro’s identity (apparently Zorro’s style of swordplay is very distinct and there is only one teacher who teaches that style). Olmos tells Tobi that he’s there for the governor, that Fernando wants to know Zorro’s identity and is willing to pay handsomely for the information. Tobi likes the idea of being a private dick (he’s got the second part of that down pat already). He and Olmos, after agreeing on a sum, toast their new friendship.

Maria Pia doesn’t go to see Alejandro, instead she goes to Fernando’s. She tells him that she’s willing to sleep with him in order to save Diego. At first Fernando tells her that it will no longer be easy to call off the duel, that it will cause a lot of problems---he is unwilling to have Montero as an enemy and that’s what would happen if Fernando takes back his permission for Montero to marry Esmerelda. However, the idea of having a booty call with Maria Pia is too much to resist. So he agrees to stop the duel and allow Esme and Diego to marry. He and MP agree to meet at their old meeting place, some cabin in the woods, the next evening at 8. As MP leaves Fernando’s house, we see the Nutty Nun hiding behind a tree. She is distressed that MP lied to her and that she is meeting with Fernando.

There is some conversation between Olmos and Fernando. Fer tells Olmos that everything has changed and Olmos waxes poetic about love (our little hunchback has a big time crush on Fer’s other daughter,Mariangel---so me-thinks he’s referring to her during his ode).

Flash to Tobias and his horny wife, Catalina. Tobias is busy writing his letters to Spain and completely misses his wife’s overtures for them to get busy. This man is so prissy and completely oblivious to his wife.

Back at los de la Vega, Yumali (the whitest looking Indian I’ve ever seen) is praying for Alejandro. She is indebted to him because he saved her from being caught by Fernando and he helped her recover from her gunshot wound.***A little back story, she attempted to kill Fernando, the governor and Alejandro’s best friend, because he used to practice genocide on the local Indian population. Fer is responsible for killing Yumali’s sister and brother. Her sister, is Diego’s mother. Back then, Fer lost his eye during this encounter. So his hatred for Indians grew even stronger. He doesn’t understand why Alejandro protects them, but hasn’t figured out that the woman that Alejandro recently had baptized is the same one who tried to kill him recently***Anyway, Yumali is concerned because she knows that Alejandro is planning on marrying Esme’s aunt (who’s name I cannot remember). She doesn’t like the fact that Alejandro’s fiancée is Fernando’s sister. Also, she’s got the hots for Alejandro, so there’s some jealousy there.

Outside the house a black-caped figure sneaks inside, climbing over the side of the balcony. The figure goes into Diego’s room where he is sleeping, and brandishes a sword. Diego wakes up and takes on the intruder, only to find that it is Esme. The two play kissy face and rehash what’s happening/not happening with the duel. They get interrupted by Dolores, Diego’s former nanny and current housekeeper, she had heard from Yumali that Diego and Montero’s duel was to go ahead as scheduled. She is very concerned about how well Diego will perform in the duel, but now she wants to know what’s going on between Diego and Esme. Although she’s never met Esme, she knows who she is just by the look in Diego’s eyes (and she’s obviously bothered that Esme is in Diego’s bedroom). Dolores tells them she wants to know everything and orders them downstairs for tea and food. The three of them rehash the duel status---which I can no longer remember where it stands for all of them, but I think they think Maria Pia will be able to convince Fernando to stop the duel and allow the D&E nuptials to take place (MP already has convince Fernando, but I’m not sure if they know that yet).

Elsewhere in the house, Yumali has decided that she needs to see Alejandro, so she sneaks into his room and starts to caress him as he sleeps. He wakes up and the two get busy. Alejandro calls Yumali “Regina”, the name of his dead wife-mother of Diego. Startled, he pushes Yumali away and tells her this isn’t right. He’ s her godfather and also her employer. He also reminds her that he is an engaged man, he is going to marry Esme’s aunt (I don’t remember her name---IDRHN). Yumali warns him that IDRHN has bad blood, since she is the governor’s sister. Al sends Yumi out and she tells him that his mouth says “no”, but his body says “yes” (or perhaps that’s what I thought she should say, I no longer remember, but none-the-less the comment is fitting for this scene).

So whilst all of this is going on, Mariangel (Esme’s redheaded half sister) sneaks out of the governor’s house to go have a romp with Montero. These two have tangled in the sheets before and during this episode they are getting busy on the desk in Montero’s office at the prison. MA wants to talk about the duel, hoping she can get Montero to call the whole thing off. He’s a little ticked that she’s bringing up Diego’s name in the middle of their love making session.***Side note, Mariangel wants to marry Diego because he is rich and attractive. I also think a side benefit is that her sister loves Diego, so it would be a way to hurt Esme because Mariangel hates her.****MA asks Montero to be noble and call off the duel, but Montero says no. So MA makes a veiled threat….that if something were to happen to Diego, then something might just happen to Esme too.

So, back at the governor’s house with both daughters having sneaked out, drunk Fernando is tucked into bed by his sister, IDRHN. She goes on about how he used to be more carefree and less vile. That they had such a wonderful childhood. Even though he has changed, she still loves him.

Now it is morning and Montero is waiting for Diego at the duel site. Fernando shows up and tells Montero that there will be no duel, as dueling is against the law. He says he has also dispatched men to Diego’s home to keep him from breaking the law. Fernando tells Montero that Esme isn’t worth it and that Fernando has decided to allow Diego and Esme to marry. This really ticks Montero off and since Fernando has gone back on his word, Montero starts waving his sword at Fernando. Fernando, not one to play it clean, kicks Montero in his wounded arm and their duel begins. END OF SHOW

Just a couple of things to know about this show:
1. Diego has a servant Bernardo, who is mute and plays deaf so he can gather info
2. So far the priest, Bernardo and Esme are the only ones who know that Diego is really Zorro
3. Alejandro thinks that Diego is a bit of a wimp, because Diego really plays that up in order to keep his daytime identity even more removed from Zorro
4. Mariangel was rescued by Zorro and she’s got her eye on him, not for marriage but for other recreational activities
5. Esme’s mother is being held prisoner in Montero’s prison. She is a gypsy queen and currently is wearing what is supposed to be an iron mask, but it looks like it’s made out of paper mache
6. Yumali has a special gift with animals, and helped cure Alejandro’s sick horse Quixote
7. Maria Pia broke her engagement to Fernando because she knows he killed Diego's mother, Regina...Dolores is the only other person who knows this (I think)

Duelo de Pasiones, Thursday March 8 - Emilio can't keep a secret

Agent Ruiz asked Alina, "Is it true that Alvaro Montellano abused you physically and mentally, forcing you to be in this place?"

Alvaro, aka Don Loco, glared at Alina, then took her hands and told her to answer the senor, adding to Alina's surprise that her mother had been certified insane.

After musing that Don Loco would carry out his threats against her mother if she told the truth, Alina said, "I am here because I like it." Agent Ruiz asked why Blanca had accused Don Loco. Alvaro laughed and said Blanca was after revenge because Elias had always loved Soledad. He told Agent Ruiz he'd go with him to see Blanca.

When Blanca (being dead) didn't answer their knock at her door, Agent Ruiz told Alvaro he wouldn't pursue charges against him because he didn't have any proof.

Alvaro went home to Soledad and they accused each other of being insane. (Alvaro: "You are insane, insane, insane!" Soledad: "I know you are, but what am I?") Alvaro won the argument by calling Soledad a "damn traitor."

Elsewhere, hairy disgraced psychiatrist Dr. Z (I don't remember his full name) told Dr. Vasquez that Alvaro was sick with celotipia (jealousy) which made men aggressive against women "and often ends in death."

Meanwhile, Soledad cowered on her bed, crying, "Don't hit me, don't touch me!" Alvaro looked guilty and said, "It was my fault. Forgive me. I'm an animal." He said he didn't want to make her feel bad, adding, "Blanca deserved death."

Soledad asked what he'd done to Blanca. Don Loco said, "Me, nothing, but it's better you know your accomplice is dead." Soledad cried and told herself that he had killed Blanca and would kill her too.

At the club: Edelmira gave Alina a cup of tea, claiming it would calm her nerves. Alina went to her room, collapsed on her bed, and told Coral, "Edelmira gave me something." Coral said, "I have an idea," and started to whisper.

At the cave: Luba prayed for help for Flor. Gaspar arrived, beaming, and said he was hungry. Pleased, Luba asked if he liked Nora. Gaspar said, "I like her a lot. But I can't forget the child I'm expecting with my little doll."

Alina sneaked out of Edelmira's club while everyone was watching something else (that was Coral's big plan??) She reeled around the countryside, saying, "Ay, Tonqui, I feel very bad," then passed out.

Suddenly a jaguar showed up. (The same one that chased Gaspar? How did it know Alina passed out? It must be a psychic jaguar.) Tonqui started barking at it.

Emilio rode up, shouting Alina's name. (He must be psychic, too, because I didn't see anyone tell him Alina had left Edelmira's club.) Seeing the jaguar, he yelled, "Calm down, Tonqui!" and took off his jacket and shirt (revealing an undershirt), paused to put his jacket back on (because a hero has to look good while saving girls from jaguars), then somehow attached the shirt to a stick and set it on fire, creating a torch to fend off the jaguar. (Why didn't he just use his gun? Never mind.)

When the jaguar was gone, he cradled Alina in his arms and said, "Alina, wake up! It's me, Emilio!"

Orlando, disappointed not to find Alina drugged in her bed, went to Edelmira and said, "She escaped!" He set out on horseback to find her and encountered Emilio, also on horseback, with the unconscious Alina.

They yelled at each other, Orlando told Emilio that Flor didn't love him, Emilio rode off with Flor, Orlando looked after them and called Emilio an idiot. The usual.

Thelma went to Castulo's room. He greeted her, "Hola, preciosa," kissed her, then said it was too dangerous to stay there. He took her to Jose's cabin. They were in bed together when Emilio arrived with Alina (what a coincidence!)

Thelma escaped without being seen and Castulo greeted Emilio, who put Alina on the miraculously remade bed. Orlando asked what Castulo was doing there. Castulo claimed he came to the cabin when he wanted to be alone, adding that it used to belong to Jose Gomez. "They say he was Flor's father."

Like a shiny object, this information was enough to distract Emilio from his questions. Castulo left, caught up with Thelma outside, and said he would take her back to the hacienda.

Emilio kissed Alina, who woke up and asked, "What are you doing?" Emilio said, "I brought you here because you felt bad," kiss kiss, "forgive me." Alina asked, "You're making fun of me, right?" Kiss kiss. Emilio said, "This isn't right. It's better that I go." He paused long enough to tell her it was Jose's cabin, then left.

In Don Loco's office: Don Loco told Sergio that Blanca was dead. Sergio asked if Don Loco killed her. Alvaro said no, "I'm not a common murderer."

Orlando the Snake showed up to see Don Loco and announced, "Emilio Valtierra decided to save Flor. Who knows where he took her."

They had a drink together. Orlando said he would find out where Emilio had taken Alina, then tell Don Loco. Alvaro said, "There must be rivalry between you and the captain," and added that he wouldn't let Emilio or anyone else protect Alina.

At the cave: Gaspar told himself, "I like Nora's kisses," then remembered his encounter with Thelma at the Devil's Cave and thought, "But my little doll is having my child."

He told Luba, "I don't know what to do now. I have two women." When Luba tried to argue with him, he said, "You don't understand me, Mama!" Luba worried about how to make him forget Thelma and the child.

At Jose's cabin, Alina pondered, "This is where he wrote the letter that caused all the problems." She wondered who the letter was intended for, then searched the cabin for clues, but didn't find anything. She asked, "Where are you, Jose Gomez?" then spotted a statue of the Virgin Mary and prayed, "Make this man come back to Sierra Escondida and tell my father the whole truth."

Emilio went to see Luba and told her where to find Alina. Luba woke Gaspar up and said, "We're going for Flor," then fretted that they couldn't bring her back to the cave because if Alvaro found her there he would kill them.

Back at home, Emilio encountered Thelma, who told him she had felt the baby move for the first time. Reluctantly he touched her belly and said he felt it, too. Thelma said, "It makes me happy that you're begining to adjust." Emilio muttered to himself, "I'm going to be a father and I can't understand it."

Angel went to see Edelmira, who told him Emilio had rescued Flor.

Luba and Gaspar visited Alina at the cabin. Luba urged, "You have to escape!" Alina asked, "With what money?" Luba said, "I have the money the patron gave me for taking care of you!"

Alina said she was a coward and didn't dare confront her father. She asked Luba to take Tonqui back to the cave and feed him. Luba told her that Tonqui was loyal and could be trusted, unlike Emilio, then left with Tonqui and Gaspar.

Back at the cave, Luba told Gaspar to bring Alina breakfast in the morning and not let anyone see him. Gaspar said sulkily, "I'm angry with you, Mama," because she didn't understand that he was having a child with his munequita.

Luba said, "I only want you to forget this so nothing bad happens to you. I adore you, son. You are everything to me."

Orlando confronted Emilio and asked where he'd taken Alina. Emilio said angrily that he knew Orlando had paid to have Flor. Orlando claimed he only wanted to help Alina, that he was worried for Emilio. So Emilio told Orlando where Alina was (duh!!!)

Orlando advised Emilio to dedicate himself to Thelma and the baby. Just then Angel arrived and demanded, "What have you done with Alina?"

Emilio asked if Angel still wanted to marry Alina. Angel said it was what he wanted most. So Emilio told him where Alina was. Way to keep a secret, Captain! Emilio added that Luba was going to fetch Flor. Angel, showing the common sense his brother lacks, said it wasn't safe for Alina to return to Luba's cave.
