Abismo de pasión #13 3/28/12: Damian is home to mixed reactions... Is he still Elisa's Prince Charming? Is this really KANSAS (i mean La Ermita) anymore? And Gael keeps on crusading F'ur Elise...

Recap by Marta Ivett

Repeat of scene with mass for Rosendo.
BotoxQueen goes to see her bro in sacristy… he gives her another voice of reason sermon about why she has kept her son away all these years, without having him come visit even once… its incredible that for something silly you kept him away so many years… yes, its been a great sacrifice, but the reward will come… (arriving in bus right this moment)…
Bus stops right at Elisa’s toes… she patiently waits for the bus to leave, seems Elisa was going to church, since Bus stopped right in front of church…
When bus moves away, Elisa and Damian see each other… Elisa is in shock.. Damian is too… They say each other’s names… she is teary eyed smiling happy… he is teary eyed… but somehow it seems he is holding some emotion back… almost fearful…

Elisa runs to Damian… but just as she is only a foot away, he lifts his hand and appologizes… I am pretty sure he is lying when he tells her he did not recognize her. (after all he did say her name as soon as he saw her and got teary eyed… no, no something is odd here… he is holding back, like there is some mystery behind this attitude)… she gets deer in headlights in her eyes when he says he did not recognize her and asks how she is doing as a polite forced greeting.  You can tell she is devastated or rather deflated/disillussioned of reality vs her hopes of what this moment would be like… he tries to fake it saying he thought she would have forgot him.. she denies she would… then he stares at her amulet a moment then uses excuse that he has not got to the hacienda to cut the meeting short… (poor Elisa, it almost looks like her next breath must come right out of his eyes…)  they walk away from each other a few steps… then she turns crying, as she turns back away, he turns and he is also crying.
(There DEFINITELY was something odd with him… he must have a secret that is painful or he knows would hurt her… )

Lucio is busy looking in the want ads on the paper, crossing some off… Blanca gets home, he asks if she is still mad he quit the store… she has given up on helping him forget about the habanero processing plant … they have a conrolled argument… she claims he took her business as a hobby/habit… he never could get into it… its not a job for a man like him… she offers to close it and they can bore each other to death like ToadHead and Medusa… Lucio gives in a bit… he wants to have a chance to get a different job to feel useful.  Blanca is fine with that… she just does not want him to get depressed if he gets turned down when he looks for a job… he will try, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Sweet hug.

Dr Edmundo’s daughter is grown up… she wants him to take her to dinner and a movie. Mom went to Don Rosendo’s mass… she wants to kiss up to Dona Alfonsina… she went to ask her a favor… (Dr has his antennas stretched out, when daughter leaves he looks away and looks mad)..

Fina is giving Tonita a hard time, Tonita is very distracted/stressed… Fina guesses right it was Gabino who did not lose another chance to bother her when he came to the hacienda… Fina pulls out the favors Tonita owes her about getting her married well…

Door bell rings… its Damian!!.. Tonita recognizes him and gets excited… HE quietly tippy toes to cover Fina’s eyes with a hand… she is startled, ever so briefly happy to see him, only to go immediately into a tantrum about him not telling her about coming home… mom, why don’t you stop reprimending me and just give me a hug?… (wow, are those tears in BotoxQueen’s eyes?)

Gael is wiping the benches at church while he rants to Padre Lupe about the boys who bothered Elisa today, because of the bad gossip about Elisa thanks to BotoxQueen… Padre Lupe points out to Gael the obvious… that Elisa is very pretty and any guy would notice her. Gael takes issue with that, says her being pretty is not excuse for anyone to harass/bother her. Padre tells it as it is, you have always been very apprehensive in all things Elisa. (Gael stares mad again) Gael claims these things happen to Elisa because she has noone to support her. Padre won’t let that one slip either.. ‘and you would LOVE to take on that support role, right?’… Gael gives up on ‘conversing’. Runs out mad to ‘take papers to Don Augusto’. ‘pa’ luego es tarde!!’

Elisa gets home…  again Toadman is bitter and semi-drunk… tells Elisa dryly to tell Dolores to serve dinner…  (Why does he have an over-sized wrinkled suit vest on??) She wants to talk to him but seeing his rude attitude, she changes her mind… When she gets to kitchen Lolita notices her demeanor. Elisa tells her about Damian’s arrival… Lolita says you were dreaming of his return for so long you always said you would die of happiness… Elisa said how things really went… he did not harass her, he was proper, but he was acting so … different,… like greeting any stranger… Lolita tries to cheer her up saying maybe he just did not recognize her… but to no avail…

Edmundo’s house… Edmundo is ratting at Begona (who looks like a mime with all that cream on her face) for asking Fina favors… he is not dumb, he knows she was asking Fina for a job for Enrique. She denies… she claims he does not consider his son capable of getting a job on his own…

Sabrina is Edmundo’s daughter name, she goes to her brother’s room and confesses to Enrique she screwed up, she told her dad her mom had gone to Fina to ask a favor… yup, the cat is out of the hat. Enrique now is mad at his sister, in a duplicate scene that just happened with mom and dad… He rats that she has been daddys’ favorite… she is a pro stylist and dad put up a salon for her in town… Enrique claims he has a readl career (agr engr) and threatens her if he does not get the job he won’t forgive her.

At Castanon dinner table, all is quiet… obviously its Medusa who finds something to whine about… ‘both of you are thinking of Estefania’… Elisa says it would not be so unheard of. Medusa continues the whine/abuse saying Este was her sister too, but that does not mean she thinks of her all the time… ‘or do you think of your little brother all the time too?’ (OUCH!!)… Toadhead has heard enough, wants her to let them eat in peace… deny it all you want but it was your fault! … (OUCH 2!!)… Gael shows up before Medusa throws strike 3… he came to give ToadHead the papers… Toadhead surprised he came tonight, could have waited until tomorrow…. Medusa says it is obvious why he came tonight, took it as an excuse to come see Elisa…
Elisa is the one that has heard enough… ‘Gael does not need excuses to come see me… and in any case, if he comes to see me or not, what do you care??’ .. Elisa takes Gael to garden (by pool). (Gael is standing behind her and you can see the pain in his face as she says: ‘Sometimes I feel like running away. I can’t stand anymore the apathy of my dad, the bitterness of my aunt who gets more and more sour with each passing day!’  / ‘Chamaca, if what you want is to leave, I will help you.’ / No, Gael, if I went to live alone, then the talk of town would really eat me alive. / you never cared about that. / but I won’t feed their gossip fire…/  but when we were kids you took Damian’s help to run away from your house. / how could you remember that? We were just kids who were not aware/conscious of what we were doing… /  really? You were not aware/conscious of what you were doing? …  I am sure if Damian came today and proposed the same again, you would end up running with him again. / I swear that won’t happen. For your info, Damian came back today and didn’t’ even recognize me… /  (Gael gets serious suddenly) Damian is here? / Yes. The one who supposedly was our best friend came back… and when he saw me he didn’t even know who he was talking to.

Fina shows Damian his room, still with his old toys around… he wonders how he will sleep among all the toys… he would have loved to get home on horseback… he has not ridden in so long…   Fina brings up her supposed high blood pressure issues… it works, he feels bad for her… I love seeing you back home BUT I am still mad you didn’t let me know in advance…

Elisa in her room is devastated, takes off the amulet necklace and leaves it on nighttable.

Next morning at procesadora, Gabino receives Enrique Tovar with a very rude ‘I am the boss of here and you dance to the tune I play, if you are here is because Dona Fina is doing a favor, not because of your abilities’… won’t even let Enrique sit down (LOL. IS this really a guy who got an agricultural engineering degree? BTW, Why is Gabino wearing a bandana wrapped around his hand? Did he burn himself at the invernadero?)

At the Anita hacienda, Damian is a bit upset walking through the empty stables… seems he had his sights on going riding but there is no horse to do it with.  Fina comes to meet him, she did not find it necessary to keep the horses but she will buy him one if he wants.  He is miffed that she had not told him she had sold them.
He wants to talk to her about the reason for his return… she thought it was to see her (its all about her, isn’t it?) … and he drops the bomb… ‘mama, I am getting married’.

Paloma sees Dr Tovar to try to convince him to give her the vacant secretary job… he had someone ‘different’ in mind… she insists he give her a try… Do you know how to use a typewriter? Nope.  how to fill medical history? Nope. Taking blood pressure? Nope ‘But I can learn real quick!!  And I promise I won’t pass your prescriptions along to my grandma and if you can’t heal someone then we can send them to her’ …  this makes him giggle and maybe gets her the job. He will give her a try.. she is on probation to show him she can learn as quick as she says.  Paloma is excited about getting the job… there must be something in the cenote water, she is showing just as much excitement as Gael shows about his job at ToadHead’s habanero fields.

Back at la Anita stables… Fina is miffed about his getting married… To whom? To Florencia… My friend Guido Landucci’s daughter?  Yes…  but you had shown no interest in her whatsoever… been going out for about a year, and I did not want to tell you over phone… she is at Mex City at her dad’s house… She offered to come to the town but I asked her not to.. (hmmm!!)  … Damian is surprised that she finds it so odd, since she was spoon feeding him this girl  since he was a boy, even sending him to spend his vacations with her and her family… aren’t you happy? (well, I would say the idea of you marrying ANY girl and leaving her would not make BotoxQueen happy)… Fina tells him she is good with the idea of him settling in La Ermita once he is married… He gives her the second bomb, he won’t live at La Ermita… Fina postpones the conversation about that… She likes his choice, Florencia will make a good wife…

We meet Florencia and said ‘Guido’ in Mex City… typical Altair Jarabo looks, shiny golden hair waves, tight ellegant dresses, etc… Florencia is worried about Damian insisting she not go with him to town, dad says not to worry… he went to see his mom… she misses him already…

We get a couple more camera pans around La Ermita (is this place for real?? It is beautiful! Reminds me of back home at Old San Juan with the cobblestone streets, the spanish balconies, horse ridden carriages, arches all over, the long steepel churches, the town center plaza etc… no, seriously, I found another spot to add to my Mexico tour trip someday)  Damian is walking through this heaven on foot sucking in all the things he had missed … gets to church and smiles when he sees Padre Lupe is in confessional… kneels down and begins normal confession hiding his face a bit…
‘I confess I have not confessed or had comunion since was a kid.. have not attended mass, have not taken a shower, have not paid my cell phone, have not eaten my green veggies, what do you think Padre? / Why, son? Why? / Because I had never found a priest as COOL as my uncle Lupe!! (lovely hug of uncle/nephew) / Mi muchacho de porras, come here! Look at you!! so handsome!! Well, that runs in the family! … your mom did not tell me !/ it was a surprise to her. / how did she take it? / Better than I expected (LOL!) she was a bit miffed about me not telling her I was coming./ Gael will be as happy as I am to see you! / is he still living here with you? / Yes, you haven’t seen him? / No / Well, you will have time to get with him. Have you really not gone to church in all these years? /  I was Just kiddin!  / but we will finish the confession anyway…  you have to confess to me why you did not write even once… (Damian  takes a huge sigh… seems to have some kind of issue with that .. could this be that he did write to his uncle, Elisa, Gael, etc and Fina blocked the letters?? Or maybe she ordered him not to write against his better judgement?? He sure reacted odd at hearing about the no letters received… hmmm) /ah caray!... apparently everyone has something to reprieve me…

At Blanca’s shop… she is telling Elisa she will back up Lucio in whatever he does… Elisa is distracted… but won’t tell Blanca what is up… Paloma gets there all excited about her new job at Dr Tovar’s… Blanca kids around about being upset that Paloma turned down her job offer, no just kiddin… Paloma asks Blanca to make her some dresses for the job… then notices Elisa is not wearing the amulet, Blanca asks Paloma to take Elisa out for a walk and see if she will talk to her about why she is so down.. she won’t tell me… Paloma happy to oblige.

At ToadHead’s habanero fields Gael is happy telling everyone that they succeeded in drawing away a plague of white flies… ToadHead arrives on horse… Gael gives him the good news… ToadHead barely says ‘good’… Gael gets angry about the reaction… ToadHead takes issue with Gael’s attitude… Gael yells back ‘I am tired of the apathy you live with… its not just the job, it is also with your daughter! / Enough! Who are you to tell me how to relate to my daughter! / what relationship?? There is none!! The whole town knows it! you don’t respect Elisa so noone else does either!! / Are you done with your sermon? / No, not yet. You better change, because otherwise the one mad will be me. And if you won’t give your daughter the place/treatment she deserves, I will!

At town plaza, Paloma and Elisa are walking and talking… Elisa told her what happened with Damian and Paloma is in disbelief… Damian is not the same we knew… Paloma turns into the voice of reason.. ‘you had imagined it would be such a fairy tale when you saw him again… that Damian would arrive and cry at seeing you and would hug you and take your breath away as in movies… right? / you are right. But I won’t feel bad or depressed… we were just friends and that was when we were just kids, everything else is just a fantasy… (Damian is approaching them but she has not seen him).. Paloma signals to her to turn around, speak of the devil.. and there is her Prince Charming.
Paloma introduces herself … ‘just in case you don’t recognize me either, as with Elisa’.. he appologizes again (but I think he also recognized Paloma as soon as she said her name, but there is something odd with his attitude) / ‘sorry, since I was away so long… / yes, many years, the same years we stayed here … (Paloma definitely has an ironic sharp tone in her words, like trying to poke him for not recognizing Elisa and hurting her)
Elisa asks Paloma to stop bothering Damian… even though he says he has nothing to do Elisa fakes that they are in a hurry to go somewhere… they take their exit…
(I might be reading more than I should but he looks away and down, like also being depressed at the ‘reality’ of these ‘reunions’ vs what he expected)

Begona rages at Sabrina for telling her dad about the ‘favor’ she was trying to get from Fina… Enrique gets home… he tells her he got the job at the procesadora… Sabrina says through her teeth ‘what a relief!’…  Enrique tells Begona about Gabino’s attitude but Begona tells him the one who is boss is Fina, and if he is recommended by her, no worries… Sabrina asks ‘what about her son? / whose son? / Dona Fina’s son… / Begona tells Enrique he has to kiss a__ to Damian… Enrique not excited about that since when they were kids they did not get along that well…

Gael gets to church and Padre Lupe almost tackles him to tell him about Damian’s arrival… Gael shrugs shoulders saying he already knew about Damian in town…/ when did you find out? / last night and when I got back from la quinta you were dormidito!.. dormidito, you were dormidote!! …  Lupe surprised at Gael’s indifference or rather miffed attitude and reluctance to go find Damian to greet him…  ‘ he is the one that came back! Besides, Damian must have his mind set up about who he wants to see!... maybe he won’t recognize me either! .. .that’s what happened to Elisa! Your nephew did not recognize her! … / how could he? He had not seen her since she was a little girl!.. and now she is a woman.. and very beautiful, by the way…

ToadHead gets home.. asks Lolita where Elisa is…  where she is every day for many months now, at her godmother’s shop helping her out. Just in case you happen to be interested in what your daughter is doing… Lolita leaves and Medusa instantly pulls out her thorns planting doubt in him about where Elisa spends her time… you should be more rough/rude with her… in front of everyone else’s eyes she is your daughter , even when she is not… you should tell her the truth.. that she does not have your blood…

As soon as Elisa gets home, ToadHead confronts her, just as scripted in Medusa’s book… Elisa says she was at her godmother’s shop, then went for a walk with Paloma.. why? / are you sure? / I don’t have a reason to lie to you, but honestly I am surprised at your interest in where I go and what I do… / I don’t want you to do something silly and give people reason to talk/gossip about you, as your mother did!... / Why do you always say things like that about my mother? If you are so sure she did what she did, it is not my fault, or is it? why have you turned so indifferent with me since she died? Why did you stop loving me? Why don’t you treat me as your little princess?

Medussa comes back to finish her script… ‘why don’t you tell her the truth? Why don’t you tell her why you can’t love her anymore? / Tell me dad, why can’t you love me anymore?
Previews don’t really show much new…

Abismo de pasión #12 3/27/12: The Kids Grow Up, The Adults Do Not, And The Prodigal Returneth

The Magical Cenote
We open tonight’s story with some Western-style music (Bonanza, anyone?) as Elisa, Paloma and Gael jump into the magical cenote. In a trick worthy of a Disney film, while they are underwater, each swimming kid morphs into their adult self.

Elisa is less a redhead than she used to be, without a trace of her former freckles. Her long hair is sort of auburn, her face is round and pretty and she looks very petite. Paloma looks like a grown up version of her child self, a beautiful brunette, with long, thick, dark hair caught back in a single braid down her back. Gael has light brown hair, a four-day growth of dark beard and a body to die for. The three tease each other and they get out of the VERDANT POOL (for Blue Lass) and Elisa mentions that she misses Damian. Gael says Damian has long ago forgotten them but Elisa finger the amulet she is still wearing and smiles. They look to be somewhere in their mid-twenties. Everybody towels dry, the Western music trails off and the three friends head off to their adult lives.

Castanon Casa
Elisa goes back to her house. She meets Lolita (Delores) who has just prepared her breakfast. Delores looks exactly the same except now her two braids are tied together in the back. She hasn’t aged a bit. Elisa is in a hurry to dine and dash because today is the anniversary of her Mother’s death and she is going to put flowers on the grave. She sees Carmina and tells her tia she will also put them on the grave of her hermanito.  Carmina, whose face is now a respectable shade of tan-pink-puce, snarls about the flowers, and Elisa says, “Mejor me voy.” You can say that again, Elisa.

Habanero Fields
Now we cut to huge fields growing habanero peppers filled with toiling workers observed by Augusto. Gael is there, standing in the middle of the fields, clapping his hands and cheering the workers on as they pick the hot peppers. I suspect he has been trained in Situational Leadership and he reads that the situation warrants him standing around in tight pants and plaid shirt, looking good. The workers are dressed in loose cotton garments with hats and they, along with Augusto, ignore Gael. Gael natters on about ideas for improving the growing conditions for the peppers by repairing the long ago burned greenhouse, but Augusto, who now walks the fields with Gael, just grunts and stares at Gael like he has two heads. He couldn’t care less about Gael’s ideas for the farm’s success. Gael’s suggestions require lots of money, Augusto complains, money he doesn’t have. Gael is frustrated by Augusto’s close-mindedness.

The years have not been kind to Augusto. Well, if we are truthful, Augusto was never a beauty, and unlike some men who look better as they age Augusto remains distressingly similar in appearance.

Streets of La Ermita
Elisa walks through town on her way to the cemetery, carrying a basket of flowers. She is dressed in a white sleeveless v-neck ruffled blouse, tucked into a dirndl skirt with a black belt. The top is cut down about two inches below her breastbone. No, I am not exaggerating. I am sure that is so the AMULET can hang free and bounce around when she walks. In the middle of town she meets Paloma, who is off to look for a job. Paloma sees a sad look on Elisa’s face and ask her what is up, but before Elisa can answer, Paloma makes a shrewd guess that Elisa’s unhappiness has something to do with her Tia Carmina. Paloma gives Elisa a lecture…Elisa explains that she is off to put flowers on her mother and little baby brother’s graves. Paloma has time to go with her to the cemetery before she looks for a job. What a nice friend.

Casa Castanon
Augusto walks into the house, fresh from his inspection of the fields. Carmina is waiting and she picks a fight. Where have you been so early, she starts innocently enough. “It is the anniversary of Estefania’s death,” she warms up. They accuse one another of being obsessed with Estefania. Now comes a snarling, carping, complaint given by this irksome brawling scold. Her voice becomes shrill and she bares her perfect white teeth. At some point in the rant she ceases to look human and resembles nothing so much as an angry male African lion, who, without either floss or opposable thumbs, struggles with his tongue to get a piece of corn-on-the-cob unstuck from his front teeth. Augusto stares at her stupidly and walks out of the room as she throws some breakable object to the floor. It is shattered and so are we after that scene.

Carmina walks away from her mess and leaves it for the faeries to clean up. Well, the faeries or Lolita, who comes into the room after Carmina stalks out. Lolita surveys the mess, sighs, and offers tonight’s thematic comment, “Ay, here nothing ever changes.” Augusto heads to his office to drink himself silly.

The Cemetery
Elisa and Paloma kneel at Estefania’s grave arranging flowers. Elisa cries and Paloma reminds her that she Estefania will always be with Elisa, just not physically. Elisa can feel, her mom’s presence, her scent, and her hair. Her father burnt all of Mom’s photos but Elisa can see Stef here as if it were a miracle in front of her eyes. (I need a hanky. Do tears harm a MacBook keyboard?) Elisa says that her dad believes that her mom cheated on him but she doesn’t believe it.  The girls get up to leave the grave. We now see the humble wooden cross that serves as Stef’s grave market. Augusto, this is a terrible way to treat your wife. Shame on you.

As the girls are walking away from the grave, two trucks drive up. The back of one vehicle is filled with memorial flowers for Rosendo. After all, it is the anniversary of his death as well as Estefania’s. The back of the second truck is filled with—Alfonsina. The driver jumps out and runs around to open the door for the dueña of La Anita Hotsauce. Alfonsina looks fabulous after our hiatus of some 15 years. She is wearing a black silk blouse, softly waving hair and crisp linen trousers. Unfortunately, she is still a bitch, and she proves that when she notices Elisa and Paloma. They exchange words and the girls move on past Alfonsina. It is clear she has not let go of her irrational grudge against Elisa.

Blanca’s Dressmaking Shop
The dressmaking shop is flourishing in a cute blue corner building in town. Blanca is sewing a dress and Lucio is fitting a gown on a mannequin when he loses it. Lucio doesn’t appear to have changed in our 15-year time-jump, he is still a drama queen. He has had it with working in the shop. He throws a fit, he and Blanca have words and he walks out. He quits! Blanca doesn’t look too worried.

Casa Arengo
“Begonia, how much time it has been since you visited,” says Alfonsina to the town gossip. Alfonsina thinks it must be some really good gossip to bring Begonia over to her house. (Alfonsina is such a wasp. She cannot speak without injecting a nasty sting). Begonia says, “Well, yes.” Actually, she has a little tiny favor to request of Alfonsina. Her son Enrique is graduating from a “very prestigious” University in Guadalajara as an agricultural engineer. She thought he might be able to work at the procesadora but Gabino said, no, La Anita did not need an engineer. Alfonsina plays the grand dueña, waves her hand in the air, and lo! it is so. She will talk to Gabino and see that Enrique has a job at La Anita.

Blanca’s Dressmaking Shop
We new see that Elisa works at her godmother’s dressmaking shop. Good for her. They discuss her work and Blanca is reminded of the anniversary of her good friend Estefania’s death. Elisa says that she is content but her mother had many dreams for her.

Casa Castanon
Carmina is sitting in front of a mirror in her bedroom. Lolita enters and startles Carmina who is staring at herself. Lolita asks about Elisa and Tia Carmina tells Lolita she doesn’t care what Elisa does. She has no intention of discussing Elisa.

Ramona’s Yerberia
Paloma tells her abuela that she cannot find a job in La Ermanita. Abuela Ramona says maybe she should look in Merida. Paloma says she can’t do that and leave her grandmother. Ramona says not to use her for an excuse—it is someone else Paloma can’t stand to leave—Gael. She says that Paloma does not accept that Gael is just her friend, she longs for more.

Father Guadalupe’s
Lupe and Gael are eating dinner. Gael complains to the good father that Augusto won’t listen to any of his suggestions for improving the farming or production at the pepper farm. It drives Gael crazy to see the low production at the farm. He says that when he was a child he remembers Augusto was once a strong man, responsible. Father says Augusto changed after Stef’s death and that the woman he now has by his side, Carmina, has not helped him very much. Now that, Loopy Lupe, is an understatement.

La Anita Procesadora
Carmina walks into Gabino’s office at the plant. Gabino hasn’t aged either, but his hair now looks more washed. The former Tangerine wants a favor. Gabino doesn’t do favors. Carmina keeps on with the request as she rubs herself up against Gabino. “I need you to use your influence to talk Alfonsina into re-instating the sales contact with the Castanon Habanero Farm.”

When these two slimewads trade words about Carmina asking favors from a man she once tried to shoot, Carmina snarls that she is sorry she wasn’t successful. Way to win friends, influence people and close deals, Carmina.

Dressshop

Elisa is talking to Blanca who thanks her for her help at the shop. Elisa won’t let Blanca pay her for helping out. Elisa dreams of attending University but who would support her? Her father? Her tia? Fat chance of that. She tries to arrange for Paloma to get a job there.

Begonia
Begonia tells Enrique that he has a job at the procesadora.

Casa Arengo
Gabino gets a lecture from La Dueña Alfonsina. Why didn’t he talk to Enrique Tovar about a job when he knew that the two families were friends and Enrique was graduating with a degree in Ag Engineering? Ahhh, because he is a petty tyrant who like to exercise the little power he has??? Gabino tries a lame excuse.

Now Gabino brings up the idea of increasing production at the plant. They would need to buy more habaneros from local growers. Alfonisina will think about it. She tells Gabino on the way out not to forget to call Enrique about his new job at the plant.

Gabino runs into Braulio on his way out of Casa Arengo. He asks him why he is not at the plant. Braulio’s shift is over. Gabino harasses him for a minute. He also sends his menacing greetings to Antonio and her son, whom Gabino suggests looks very like his mother.  I don’t know how they did it but Braulio and Antonia actually look like they have aged, gently. And yes, Braulio and Antonia have married and have a son who looks about 15. He is a punk who doesn’t want to go to school or work. I am thinking we know who his REAL dad is…dirtbag Gabino. Braulio says that everyone hates Gabino but he has Alfonsina’s ear and no one has been able to get rid of him at the procesadora.

Braulio muses that when Damian returns maybe THEN, things will change. It turns out that Damian has stayed away all this time and has finished his Ph.D. Hmmm…So maybe he is a little older than Elisa and the other friends.

Gabino stops by to threaten Antonia before leaving the Hacienda.

Casa Castanon
Carmina comes into Augusto’s study to find him dead drunk at this desk. Sadly, age has not improved Augusto’s look. He still has the face of Mr. Toad done up with a rich black on-the-cheap-hair-dye-job and cone-head haircut.  His stare is vacant and amphibian as Carmina comes in, abuses some more dishware, and says that if Augusto doesn’t change his ways, then…What? She will leave. That would be a blessing, even for the toadly-one.

(I hope Augusto is putting his money into china. That’s china, as in tea cups not the country. Carmina is running through the place settings faster than they can be replaced).

La Ermita
Gael comes upon Elisa being hassled by a group of teen boys and runs them off.

La Ermita Church
At the beautiful little church Father ‘Lupe performs mass.  One interesting thing I note is that the women wear mantillas. How interesting. When I was a child we still covered our heads for mass. After the service Alfonsina makes an offering for the mass. Father ‘Lupe asks about Damian. How is it that in all these years he has never, not once been home for a visit? Lupe tells his sister that she is a strange mother to let something so odd keep her away from her son all these years. She has lost his whole adolescence—and then some. He finished his career training years ago. Alfonsina says it has been a great sacrifice for her, but Damian has been happy in Italy and she did not want to disturb him. That sounds like nonsense to Father Lupe and to me.

The Return of the Prodigal
Back in La Ermita town center Elisa is walking home in the blouse with the v neck cut down below her sternum that shows off the amulet and the space between her high but non-bouncy breasts. She is about to the cross a street when a bus pulls directly in front of her. When the bus hrumphs away, Damian has gotten off the coach and is standing on the other side of the street. Hey! Zepeda—I mean Damian—looks younger than I though possible. The two make eye contact and say each other’s names. “Damian! Elisa! We see them stare wonderingly at one another from across the dusty camino.  I think a slow-mo running scene is about to ensue. I hope they don’t stop in the middle of the street to embrace.

Avances
We are told that tomorrow is a pivotal episode but there is nothing new in the avances.

La Que No Podía Amar #65 Tuesday 3/27/12 Dysfunctional shrews, more secrets revealed, and more puppydog eyes

La que no podía amar (LQNPA) Cap 65, March 27, 2012

Dysfunctional shrews, more secrets revealed, and more puppy dog eyes

Before I start with the recap, as promised, here are some gratuitous screenshots of our favorite douchebag, Rogelio Montero, who was looking particularly fetching in the chapel scene from yesterday's episode. (Remember to click on the images to see a larger—HD quality—version.)

Cupcake asks for his sombrero while they're in the chapel.

Talking about Margarito's adoption. (The camera zoomed in and I got this extra shot, but felt it was a little too gratuitous to post here. But I'll link to it instead!)

After the adoption thing is resolved, they move outside the chapel, where Rohell asks for his sombrero back . . .

And the hat is returned to its owner's head!

This concludes this session of shameless Jorge Salinas fangirlishness. We will shortly return you to the recap for tonight's episode.

(Expect recap later on tonight or in the AM.)

PREVIEW:

Screencap from Cap 65:

Hand porn and puppydog eyes as Rohell beseeches Cupcake to try to love him.

THE RECAP COMMENCETH: (Note, I condensed some scenes for the sake of my sanity.)

(The first part of the episode was sans English CCs, so again I'm sort of trying to figure out what they're saying from listening. Which isn't my strong suit.)

We return to Effer telling Sinthia that little Margarito is Rohell's natural son. Impactada look from Sin.

Sin tries to persuade Effer not to tell Rohell, but Effer seems pretty determined. He needs to be back at the Hacienda and he needs dinero! He shows Sin the letter he swiped from Ulysses. Sin keeps on trying to grab the letter away from him but he never lets her get her hands on it—he just holds it up for her to see.

Effer is smart enough to not let Sin get her grubby paws on the letter.

Meanwhile, the unknowing father of Margarito is reading out of a book of horses to Margarito, who is still bedridden. They talk about wild horses. Margarito wants to ride a wild horse but Rohell is horrified, saying he's got to wait until he recovers (plus, riding a wild horse would be, you know, dangerous). Then Margarito mentions that Cupcake told him that Rohell had the chapel fixed up so she could pray for him (Margarito) and that he wants to get better so he can see how pretty the chapel is.

Father reading to son, only neither of them is aware of that at the moment.

Cupcake comes in with Margarito's milk and (the CCs were messed up here so I missed something) there is some sort of word game (?) I think and then there is something where Rohell is comparing something to Cupcake, which he says is "hermosa" (beautiful) like Cupcake. Rohell flirtatiously says this as he slides a glance at Cupcake. Dimples abound as expected, as their theme song swells.

Flirty Rohell sneaks a sidelong glance at Cupcake.
Cupcake responds with dimples.
Rohell gives her a nudge with his elbow and we officially have a flirty moment to lighten the mood.

A scene between Mersnotty and the Gustavito. More arguing about the truthfulness and trustworthiness of Cupcake and the legitimacy of the contract she signed with Rohell. Mersnotty is still not wanting to buy it—she's clinging to her self-righteous belief that Cupcake is a gold digger. She doesn't want Gustavito to do anything too hastily, and possibly hurt Sin. (I wouldn't be worrying about Sin, myself.)

The letter says that the mother left Margarito with the Monteros because she wanted a better life for him, and that she loved him. She left the letter with Ulyses, since she knew he was a very upright person who would keep his word. And indeed Ulyses had, and had kept the letter safe—and unread—for all this time.

Let's take a look at that letter: It basically says that the mom loves him, and states that the name of his real father is Rogelio Montero. She asks her son to not hate her for leaving him, and that she left him with his father so he'll have a better life than what she could give him.

There's stuff I missed because I have no access to CCs right now, but basically Effer announces that Margarito is the only son and HEIR to Rogelio Montero. Sin is impactada all over again.

He tucks the letter in his pocket, hopefully safe away from her.

It's all about the TOSTITOS: Product placement scenes. I will condense this part which goes on for several scenes. Maria makes a production of preparing some chips and dip, always being sure to place those TOSTITOS products carefully within camera view, and let's makes sure to see that TOSITOS label. And let's stop the action for a moment to savor a bite of the TOSTITOS chip and dip, just like Maria does.

This recap is sponsored by TOSTITOS.

Tia MentiRosa wants to horn in on Maria's place. She criticizes Maria's work and her cooking. She thinks she can do a better job at running the household. (Somehow she thinks this will give her access to more of Rohell's money.) Maria knows this is completely delusional on Tia's part—Maria has worked in the hacienda all her life, knows all the ins and outs, and besides, she's like a second mother to Rohell and Sin. But arrogant and greedy Tia thinks she's a "fast learner" and can do better than Maria. Maria calls her bluff, hands over her apron and says she's VERY TIRED and so Tia can just take over. Tia immediately makes a mess of cooking dinner.

Back to Sin and Effer, I think Effer is saying that no wonder Rohell wanted to adopt Margarito—he felt the call of the blood! Sin thinks this is ridiculous. It's all Cupcake's fault for some reason. Effer is ready to go give the letter to Rohell (he thinks this will get him back in the Hacienda) but Sin doesn't want him to. She asks if he wouldn't prefer to spend his time in her bed instead. Effer, ever the hormone-addled idiot, goes along with this.

She forbids him to leave to show Rohell the letter. She offers him the comforts of her bed instead.

More of the bit with Maria and Tia, where Tia thinks she can do a better job, blah blah blah.

Tia is completely DELUSIONAL if she thinks she can fill Maria's sensible shoes.

Rohell is lying in bed, patiently waiting for his therapy. Cupcake comes in, and is acting a bit shy and strange. She pulls back the blanket that covers his leg as the camera shows an overhead view. You can tell that she's looking at those motionless legs and thinking of what she just learned about how he sacrificed himself for Margarito. Rohell immediately figures out something is up.

She's willing to just give him his drops and forgo the therapy for the evening. She is aware of the pain the therapy causes. He isn't going for this. He tells her when she touches his legs, it causes pain, but when she doesn't touch him, it causes more pain. Then he adds, "I hope that one day that your hands will touch me for love, not out of obligation."

Looking at him with a new awareness of what he sacrificed.

He hopes that eventually she'll touch him out of love instead of duty.

A scene with Tia totally blowing dinner, as Miguel, Dani, and eventually Consuelo come in to witness. Consuelo has to take over, because Tia is completely incompetent. It turns out everyone else has already eaten (Maria fixed them something earlier) so Miguel is wondering why Tia is cooking at all. Cute, but FF>>

Ernesto and Mersnotty are at the Macaria's restaurant. He tells her that Rohell has asked him to stay on for a few days while Margarito recovers (and they find out if he'll walk or not). Ernie has no surgeries in Tuxtla, so he can stay on, kick back, and try to win over Mersnotty! She seems happy about this and they smooch.

Macaria comes into the store and confronts Ulyses. She's looking verrrry serious. Condensing the several scenes it takes to get to the point, which is this: She and Maripaz were both going to leave without telling him, and had written a letter to explain where they'd gone. But Macaria figured that 20 years of marriage required that she tell Ulyses face to face what they'd planned. At first he thinks she's bluffing or threatening (amenazar=threaten) but she's serious. If he doesn't accept all of this, Macaria is going to divorce him. Maripaz appears with her suitcase. They're going to go. This shakes up Ulyses enough that he relents. He doesn't want to lose either of them. He wasn't a control freak out of a lack of love, but of fear. They have a big group hug and everyone gets verklempt. In a later scene, Ulyses agrees to let Maripaz go to college; he doesn't want to lose her.

Verklempt.

During this drama with Ulyses and Macaria, there is another drama: Creepy Rutile (Bruno's worm-scarred henchman) hits on Maripaz again at the restaurant. She is VERY vocal about not wanting him around. He's like, "Who's gonna stop me?" Ernesto was just getting up to leave with Mersnotty, and he materializes behind Maripaz and says, "Me!" He then wrestles Rutile into some sort of arm lock and makes Rutile apologize. Rutile does, but says, "I'll see you again later!" to Maripaz, in the creepiest, most repugnant way possible. Maripaz thanks Ernesto for his help.

We return to Rohell's therapy. Cupcake says they've been doing it long enough; she doesn't want to overtire his muscles. Then she tells him that she knows how he's paralyzed now because he saved Margarito. Rohell says, "Do you understand now why I have conflicted feelings in respect to Margaro?" She does understand—much more now. "I would have done it for anybody" he says. He didn't want anyone to know, didn't want Margarito to know, for fear that Margarito would feel guilty. He's annoyed that Maria spilled the beans to Cupcake.

Cupcake kneels down beside Rohell on the bed and after a long pause, says, "I'm sorry Rogelio, for not being able to love you." She rushes out, leaving a bereft Rohell who now has sadder puppydog eyes than usual.

Sad, sad, sad puppydog eyes.

An interesting scene between Maria and the Gustavito. She grills him about his feelings for Sin. He says she's a "great woman" but they've barely started dating. Maria commences to warn him off, stopping short of threatening to rip off a significant part of his body if he hurts Sin. Maria says if you can't treat her right, better that you leave this hacienda and never come back.

Maria warning Gustavito that no one messes with one of her baby chicks!

Sin and Effer are having pillow talk under Sin's gold satin sheets. She's sure that Effer won't tell anyone about the letter. A knock at the door. It's the Gustavito! Sin shushes Effer and has to strong-arm him to get out of the way. He says that if she doesn't want him to show the letter to Rohell, she's got to get rid of that Gustavito guy. She greets Gustavito at the door and they talk in the hallway while she is dressed in a slinky, short dressing gown. The Gustavito wants to make things work out. Blah blah blah. Sin tells Gustavito that they'll take it one step at a time, no pressure. She kisses him and has a strange, confused expression on her face as the kiss ends.  Effer listens in and grins as the duped Gustavito talks sincerely to the faithless Sin. After he leaves, Effer mocks the Gustavito's sincerity. Sin doesn't think it's funny. She reminds him that not only does Rohell like Gus, that she likes him too. She needs to marry him to get her inheritance. She then tells Effer that he'll be sharing her bed, but also he'll share her inheritance. (This sounds nefarious!) He replies that the only thing he needs to be her ideal man is money. They grin evil, sinful grins at each other and then start kissing.

Cupcake is telling Dani how the Gustavito wanted her to run away with him, and she almost did it. She then rhapsodizes about when Gustavito kissed her the other day, she felt swept away for a moment and forgot everything else. Then all her obligations came back and she knew she couldn't leave.

Dani is skeptical of Cupcake's reasons for feeling conflicted. She sings the praises of Rohell—how he sacrificed himself to save Margarito, and how no one (other than Maria) knows what he did. Cupcake agrees that Rohell is a great guy and that's why she's gotta fulfill the contract. Dani calls bullshit on this being the only reason she's not running off with the Gustavito. Like, why adopt Margarito, when Cupcake must know that this will tie her to the Rohell forever? Maybe the growing charms of a certain dimpled, reforming douchebag are starting to get to her.  Like she's looking for excuses (like adopting Margarito) to stay, rather than leave. Cupcake of course resists at first at the thought of this, saying she loves Gustavito. But Dani suggests that Cupcake also feels a lot for Rohell, and she needs to accept this. Cupcake sighs.

In Rohell's office, Bruno has prepared adoption papers for Margarito. Cupcake comes in and Rohell shows her where to sign the papers. She hesitates for a moment, explaining that she wants to read everything in the contract before signing. Rohell thinks that is fine. Bruno can explain anything she wants to know. Bruno says the main thing is that she has no doubts. She doesn't. She shoots Rohell a look and he smiles back.

After she signs the contract, she says she's excited that Margarito will be calling her "mother," but she's scared of the responsibility. Rohell says he knows that he's got a difficult personality and he knows there are things he can't do, but that together they'll do a lot. Dimples are exchanged as a very sour Bruno looks on.
A bonding moment between the dimpled ones angers Bruno.

We cut to Vainessa's office, where Sin is ranting and raving about how that evil golddigger Paula has somehow tricked Rohell into adopting Margarito. Sin doesn't want to share her inheritance with Paula and the kid! Vainessa rants along with her. Bruno comes in.

Condensing this part of the story a bit: Bruno has the brilliant idea to call whatever the relevant agency is in Mexico to "report" that an orphan is staying in a very bad situation at the Hacienda, and he's very concerned. He's of course expecting that the authorities will take Margarito away and thwart the adoption attempt. Sin and Vain listen in and grin.

(Blogger is being annoying and won't let me upload more pictures. Well, it just spins and spins. Don't know what's going on. I'm having to figure out a workaround.)

Cupcake and Rohell visit Margarito in his sickbed and tell him that they're going to try to adopt him, but that the process will take time. Margarito is happy about this; he says he wishes he could have found his real parents, but is glad that God send him new ones. Rohell and Cupcake assure Margarito that they love him and just want him to have a good home. Then he asks what his new name will be—Margaro or Margarito? Rohell laughs and says, "Margarito Montero Carmona!" Then Margarito asks if Miguel will be his tio? And also Sinthia will be his tia? There are tense expressions exchanged at that question!

Cupcake laughs at Margarito's innocent questions.

They're going to be una familia now.

Dimples from the wheeled one.

Effer's messing with Macaria (the unfaithful hussy!) on the street. She was looking for him the other day. He says he didn't have money for a motel (?) but stayed with his cousin Luis, who lives at the Rancho la Negra. They smooch on the street.

Bruno's leaving Vain's office. Everyone's pleased because it seems like that phone call he made will soon "resolve" the Margarito issue. He tells Sin and Vain that they can count on him—to never doubt him. He also tells Sin that later on he can maybe help her legally against Rohell. After he leaves, Sin talks about how she needs to persuade Rohell to hire Effer back. Vain wants to know why Sin wants that peon back so much. Sin says because he always takes her side against Rohell. Then Sin says that she's got an idea—a way to use her sister in law. Both witches smile conspiring smiles.

Cupcake and Rohell are talking business in his office. She's taking notes as he discusses cattle. She says she wants to be prepared and learn more of the business. They are readying for this important business with a company in the USA. It's a big deal.

He asks her if she's happy. Yes, she says, because she's learning, and because of Margarito.

Then Rohell turns serious. He tells her that he knows she accepted adopting Margarito for his own sake, but that he (Rohell) is happy too. She's helped him fulfill a dream to have a family.

He then talks about his past. His father was very strict. His mother was submissive in everything, went along with everything, and due to this, Sin had a very bad time. Rohell admits that he hasn't done a very good job with Sin, but after so many years . . . (I think he means, "the damage was already done"). Cupcake replies, "But now you're beginning to change." He agrees, "to get what I always wanted." He then relays how growing up, he saw how Ulysses had such a wonderful relationship with his parents. They were so poor, but so happy. Rohell says he'd trade everything to have that kind of happiness. "And now you give me a chance to live it, thank you Paula." Awww, Rohell . . .

She looks at him thoughtfully as he pours out his soul.

Soulful puppydog eyes as he thanks her for helping create a family with him.

David's come back from the Estados Unidos. Bruno asks him how things went. Very well; he has a suitcase full of some chemical "food supplement" that they're going to spike Rohell's cattles' feed with, to mess him up. Evil smiles from our Evil Team.

Back with Cupcake and Rohell. Cupcake heaves a high school sigh. Rohell wants to know why. It's the same old same old. He asks her, is she saying she can't love him because she doesn't, or because she isn't yet willing to admit to herself how she feels? (He's hit the nail on the head there . . . ) She explains that she knows he's a wonderful man, and if things were different . . . well . . . Rohell says, it's because of the novio. He astutely says it's because she's idealized this guy because he's far away. (Okay, he's not astute about the "far away" part, but definitely spot-on about "idealized.") He takes her hand and implores her: "Tell me what I need to do to get you to love me. No matter how impossible it is, I swear I'll do it!" The "indecision tango" (thank you UA for that) starts to play as Cupcake looks confused and conflicted and a tear rolls down her cheek.

It is hard to resist those puppydog eyes.

David and Bruno gloat about how they're going to mess things up for Rohell. Rohell's got a new deal in the works to supply meat to a company in the USA, via Vainessa's company. (Sounds to me like both Rohell and Vain's companies will be screwed over.) Then they gloat about stopping the water supply to Rohell's ranch.

Back at Rohell's office: Rohell's clasped Cupcake's hand across his desk. (Hand porn! This novela is full of it!) Cupcake is uncomfortable and doesn't want to talk about love right now. He changes the subject, telling her that Sin is wanting to sell her half of the Hacienda. This is part of the reason why he's held on to Sin's half of the inheritance, he explains, she's so impulsive and apt to short circuit at any time and do something lame-brained like this. He wants to buy her half from her. That's why this business in the Estados Unidos is so important, he says. (Presumably to help fund the purchase of Sin's half of the Hacienda.) Then he talks about how he and Cupcake are a team. This makes Cupcake a bit uncomfortable and she withdraws her hand. Awww, no more hand porn for Rohell. He looks stricken again.

Hand porn!

Telling her about Sin's possible idiocy in trying to sell her half of the Hacienda. Plus more hand porn. Because he never can get enough.

A scene between Tia and the Gustavito. Tia is being a true Rogeliana here. She tells Gustavito about the adoption of Margarito. This will tie Cupcake further with Rohell. Guscake already knows about it. He also knows about the contract between Cupcake and Rohell. Tia looks a bit taken aback by that. She reminds him that he's with Sin now. Gus says that he's separated from Cupcake due to Tia. Tia lies about telling him Cupcake was married (when she wasn't at the time) and Gus calls her on it. He intends to tell Cupcake about Tia's manipulations. Tia looks nervous.

A meaningful conversation between Maria and Sin. Maria's pumping Sin for info on her feelings for the Gustavito. Sin really likes him, may even consider marrying him. She likes how he stood up for her with Rohell. But sometimes she wonders if he hasn't forgotten his ex. Maria jumps on that and tells her to be careful, and maybe break up with him. Sin rejects that prospect—no, she's going to get him to fall in love with her! Maria doesn't look all that confident.

Back with Tia and the Gustavito. Tia is telling Gus that things have changed. Is he sure that Cupcake still loves him? (Seriously, dude, I don't get you. You shouldn't be on one hand trying to make things work with Sin, and yet on the other hand insisting that your ex still loves you. Cut one of them loose, now.) Tia rubs it in—she tells Gus to take a hard look at how Cupcake looks at Rohell. He treats her like a queen, they've adopted a kid together. "She was happy, until you arrived!" Tia tells him. "And go tell Rohell that you're Cupcake's ex, and that you hooked up with Sin just to get close to Cupcake!" (Oh whoa, Tia, you play hardball! LOL.) "You're worse than I thought!" Gustavito exclaims. "It would be bad for her," Tia says, "But he would kill you!" Gustavito says, "I don't care, it's better than living like this!" He turns to leave but Tia pulls him back. She reminds him to think of Cupcake, and how would she live with a tragedy like that happening? Impactado look from Gus and we end the episode!

AVANCES:

More bonding and hand porn (and hand kissing) for Rohell and Cupcake. Cupcake tells Dani that she thinks she's in love with both guys. Guscake manhandles Cupcake and doesn't want her to love Rohell too. Here are gratuitous screencaps:

Rohell's really into hand-kissing.

. . . and more hand-kissing.

El Talismán #40 Tue 3/27/12

Brief recap by Sylvia, reposted by Blue Lass:

Sarita wakes Pedro up and sees Loo's dainties flung about the room. Pedro thinks
he did the nasty with Loo. Like Kelly said, Camila confronts DumDum and
Loo. Piedro accuses Camila of being Tony's lover. Loo says Cami should leave but
Cam says she's staying to work and only her boss can fire her. She moves back
into the guest house.

Tracy tries to explain to baby Flo the exact
definition of "Friends with Benefits". Neither Flo nor Fab seems to get
it. Elvira is happily ensconced in her honeymoon apartment. Renato slips
out to canoodle with Rita. While he's out Elvira calls Armani and invites him to
inhabit the third bedroom of the apartment. This ought to be good.

Elvira annoys Rita by being happily married and excitedly bragging that
she's getting a new mansion.Genoveva and the other engineer make
out. Loo tells Claudio she is the new novia of Pedro.

Fab and Flo talk incessantly about boys. Pedro tells Sarita and LooKrazy to play
nice. LooKrazy pretends to apologize since she is Pedro's novia.

Camila goes to the mansion looking for her mother. Oscar answers the door and tells
Camila that no Renato Betancourt lives there! She says she was there yesterday
for a wedding and Ocar thinks she's crazy. Camila suspects Renato tricked
ElViral. She tells Armani what happened and that Jaime the majordomo pretended
not to know her. Cami shouts that all men are the same!

Una Familia Con Suerte #181-182 Tue 3/27/12 Desastre!

Enzo gives another shot at proposing to Chela, with better results... he fumbles a bit, as if fearing she'll take it back.

Fred overhears his parents plotting about Frank.

The cute new mecanichica is totally crushing on pepe.

Vins and Pina are really hilarious pretending that they're ok with Ana. They're my favorites! Nenenenenene/amorermosho!

Uh-oh... Doc Oc got lost on the way to Pancho's house. Brain tumor? I haven't seen Alzheimer's in a soap yet. Or maybe it's just another throwaway.

Panchohas brought them all together to announce that he's marrying Rebe. There is much rejoicing. Even Lena looks happy. Chela is sorry to steal the show, but she announces her own engagement. I like her new hairdo... Ana shows off her own engagement ring, even though it's old news by now.

Pepe vainly tries to convince Ana and Chela that Lidia is just his friend. They look a little menacing.

Candi whines a bit about being a widow, but it's not so bad. She wonders why Chela changed her mind. Enzo still isn't sure... he just asked a second time.

Fred needs to talk to Ana. He knows his parents are up to something, and have entered into some sort of arrangement with Franco.

Pina ambushes Candi when she tries to head out in her ridiculous blue/orange track suit. She doesn't have anything to say, but rather just teases her about being a widow.

What's up with all these ads for vegetable oil as a health product?

And, weirdly, we get the intro song 20 minutes into the show. Was everything I wrote a recap of last week's show?

WHAAAT now Ana's wearing super-cleavage? Huh? She confronts Franco, and he assures her that he would have liked her disc even if the Irabienes hadn't payed him off. God, her outfit is ridiculous.

Back to Pina and Candi... I guess Pina did manage to get a silly little fight started. Highlight: Candi calls Pina "mamacita." They make some threats.

Now Vins is chasing Candi. He just wants to talk, but she's mad that he ran right into Pina's arms. She will never again be the "other woman." Haha, she finally grew a spine. Maybe some gangster rubbed off on her.

Wow, Chela is (what's the word? Drippy?)... she gets a little moist in the eyes just watching Ana plug her cd on a talk show. Franco attempts to redeem himself by jovially dancing along with the music.

Haha, Vins goes and complains to Sandrucha that Candi won't be his mistress. Chacho walks in on her trying to console him, just about swallows his lollipop. He starts shredding the flowers he brought her, and jealously storms off.

Pancho and rebe are doing wedding invitations. Mushy wedding planning. I tune out a bit. The wedding planner feels awkward when they start smooching.

Pina offers Vins a deal to prove he loves her - she wants another kid! They're overflowing with cuteness.

OK, it's not a throwaway. Doc Oc is losing his marbles. Seriously, what do you folks think it's gonna be? Tumor? Alzheimer's? Senility?

The fertility doc informs Pina that she's no longer fertile. She proceeds to insult him and head for another doctor. Poor girl.

Ana is about to be sent out for her first tour. Fred freaks out. He doesn't have a job. Why doesn't he go with her? Anyway, he storms out.

Vins and Sandrucha try to give eachother advice, and Vins gives her leave to go apologize to el "pelon."

Vins begins to have another of his hilarious breakdowns. In his imagination he sees his two loves, each begging for his attention. He yanks his head back and forth fast enough to make *my* head spin.

Lol, Pina totally freaks out that girl, what's her name? She says she'll get a baby even if she has to steal one. The girl gets a really scared look, before Pina claims that she was kidding.

I don't get it exactly, but there's a lawyer who wants to make Pancho some sort of federal official.

Oh hell no, Temo and Mely have a fake wedding. Where'd the tiny wedding dress come from? Anyway, ew.

Uh oh, Doc Oc's going in for an MRI. Actually, it looks more like a CAT.

It looks like Tomas wants to be a cop. I like the new housemates (tomas, lupita, and chacho)

The girls are hanging around, looking at wedding magazines, when Pancho comes to pick up Rebe. He takes her to formally introduce her to Laurita, at the shrine. Unrealistically, Rebe isn't weirded out, and actually speaks to the photo.

Vins and Pina have dragged out that poor girl (kari? kati?) again to confront Fred. They rub it in a bit about Ana leaving.

Enzo has a nice dinner with Chela and then tells her that he doesn't want her to move in (on account of Moni, I think)... She's cool with it. Much more so than Enzo expected.

Here comes doc Oc's doc... He's got bad news. It's Alzheimer's! That's rough. He's really impacted. He's afraid of losing his soul bit by bit. Yikes. I feel bad joking about it.

Pepe brings Lidia over, and she's amazed by the house. Oh wait, her name is Frida. Oops. Anyway, she gets on great with Pancho and they joke about how huge the house is (we'll make a map to find the bathroom). She asks for permission to sit down and then acts like she's never seen a couch before.

Candi and Lupita bully Ana into going over to smooth things over with Fred. Once there, Pina tries to keep her out, but Ana screams for Fred, and he comes running. They head out, and Vins gets out one mournful "nehneh!"

Ana offers to cancel the tour if Fred wants. He embraces her, but stops short of saying that's unnecessary.

Poor Frida... Lena and Candi lay it on her about Monica. She looks like she's about to cry.

Doc Oc is disconsolate. His neurons are irremediably dying, he says. He asks her one thing - that she not tell ANYONE. She promises him that she won't.

Pancho has a nightmare where all the other Federal officials throw tomatoes at him when he tries to give an acceptance speech.

Hahhahaha the record exec asks Pancho to please just call him "Franco... Like the Spanish guy." Interesting choice for self-comparison.

Everyone assembles to bid farewell to Ana.

Fernanda swiftly goes to spill the beans to Rebe.

The boss has noticed that Frida has a thing for Pepe. But the boss informs her that she may yet have a chance. Cut straight to Moni and Pepe talking on the phone. It's shot so weirdly . . . We see all of Pepe, but the camera zooms in so tight on Moni that we only see half of a lip or an eyeball at a time. Basically, her ma needs more time over there, but there may be some meds that could help.

Good lord, these two-hour episodes are so exhausting. Anyway, that's it, folks!
