La Fea Más Bella #192 1/19/07 Rebounds a-plenty

In Acapulco

Aldo calls Caro and moans about wanting to go to the beach with Lety and see the sunset. Caro says he's a lost cause. He asks her to send him the photo she took of him and Lety. He says he's happy because he's in love with Lety.

Yes, all of this already happened last night. Nothing new happened today. I wonder if this scene was included only because... well, I'll finish this thought later in the recap.

At Casa Padilla

Lety tells Tomas she's sure her mother read her diary. He is shocked that she was so foolish as to write everything down, but Lety explains to him that that's why people have diaries, to write things in them for no one else to read. :-) She shows it to him, but doesn't let him read it - much to his disappointment. He says why not - it's too late now, since her mother's already read it. He asks why she didn't hide it more carefully. Lety said she didn't think it could happen right there in her own house, and she's going to throw it out along with anything else that gives her bad memories.

Tomas asks if she hates Fernando like he deserves. Lety says no, she's forgiven him, but it will take longer for her to feel kindly towards him. She doesn't ever want to see him again.

She resumes painting over the flowers on her wall that she drew after her and Fern's trip to Cuernavaca (that's why her bed is covered with plastic, to protect it from spatter). Tomas keeps trying to sneak a peek at the diary. She threatens to paint him too.

She takes a break from the painting and he makes himself comfortable on a nearby chair. His legs are crossed, man-style, causing his too-short pants to expose his white socks and a tiny bit of leg. I also notice that he's wearing his necktie short again, although he's still got that pompadour. They are discussing the debts of Conceptos. Lety is taking the situation lightly. She wonders why the Mendiolas and Villaroels (or Mendiroels, as I shall call them henceforth to save myself some typing) are in such a hurry to get her to sign the papers. Tomas thinks they must have found a way to pay off their debts. Lety doesn't much care - that's up to the Mendiroels now.

To clarify for those who are confused by all of this: if the Mendiroels own both Filmo-Imagen and Conceptos, their debts to FI will be canceled, but they will still owe more than $6 million (thanks to inflation, that's not enough to build a bionic man these days) because FI doesn't have nearly enough assets to cover Conceptos' debts. And now they will owe it all directly to the banks, with whom they do not have a good relationship - that's why they had to create FI in the first place, because banks wouldn't loan them money. In fact, without the protection of Filmo-Imagen's great credit rating, the debt of the Mendiroel Empire will be due immediately.

All of this is pretty clear to Tomas and Lety, as well as the lawyers, because they're all smart about money and can be objective about this because none of their own dinero is at stake. However, the Mendiroels are still too frothing-at-the-mouth-mad at Lety (and possibly financially ignorant) to see beyond their wounded pride.

Lety and Tomas agree that they will be happy tomorrow morning when all of this is over. Tomas asks what she will do after that. Lety says she'll keep working for Caro. Tomas says he's happy for her, but for his own part, he's going to hand out resumes, and when he's finished doing that, he'll do it some more.

Lety says (I think) that she just got lucky when Carolina helped her. She tells him to come over early tomorrow and they'll see what they can do. He happily agrees, but then remembers that RoboPop has banned him from returning to the house. He feels sorry for himself, not only being unemployed but also being unwelcome in the house because he hadn't told RoboPop about the problems with the Mendiroels. So RoboPop threw him out "like a dog," Tomas says (which is sorta funny when you think of how things turned out for little Moty). Erasmo couldn't throw Lety out since she's his daughter, but as for him... if Lety wants to see him again, they'll have to go out at night on a secret date.

"I'm not Alicia, Tomas," Lety says. "You're tellin' me," Tomas says. Lety doesn't think there will be a problem. He'll come over tomorrow and the whole thing will have blown over. Tomas says he hopes so, because he's already feeling a little hungry. All of his digestive organs will be grateful if Lety smoothes things over with RoboPop. Seriously, he says, he'd be really hurt if he wasn't allowed back in their house. Lety says they'd be even more hurt. And speaking of hurt, she says, how'd it end up with Alicia? Has he forgotten her luscious locks yet? He sadly says no - he still carries her photo next to his heart. He takes out the photo and kisses it.

He gets up to leave, still looking at the photo. "How pretty," he says. "I was talking to Alicia," he adds, waving the photo at Lety.

A while later, Mom comes up to Lety's room to talk. She asks how Lety is, and how her hand is. Lety says they're okay, but doesn't waste any more time on pleasantries. "Why'd you read my diary?" Lety's mom says she had to know what was going on with her. Lety says her diary was sacred to her. Mom says she understands that, but Lety's welfare is even more sacred to her. And it's a good thing she did, because now she understands Lety's rejection of Fernando, and her resignation. And she also understands her resolve, and her trip to Acapulco. She saw Lety suffering so much, and respected her silence, but it was very serious. And Lety has always confided in her before.

Lety reminds her mother that Fern was her boss, he was engaged, etc. - and she just couldn't face her mother with all that. She told a few things to Tomas, because for some reason, it wasn't as embarrassing.

Julieta says she's Lety's mother, not just though the happy parts of life, but also through its problems. She asks Lety not to deny her the right to comfort and advise her. Lety assures Julieta that she's learned her lesson!

Then, becoming more animated, Julieta asks Lety about her new attitude. She doesn't seem like the same Lety who left them. Lety agrees that it's strange, but before she went to Acapulco, she still felt like a little girl who liked her room decorated with dolls and flowers, but... but... "now I see that that is changing," her mother finishes for her, looking at the wall behind Lety. Lety has painted a new scene - the seashore. Lety says she wanted to bring with her the strength of the ocean the rescued her. And, Lety says, now she knows all of that strength was inside her. Lety admires her ring, but doesn't explain it to her mother (or maybe she explains it in between scenes).

Lety tells her mom about Aldo. (For some reason, Julieta giggles at his last name, Domensain. Dunno why.) Lety says he taught her how to dive, and he also taught her that fear doesn't exist - the only thing real is love. It's as powerful as anything in the universe. (Anyone else remember when she had that nightmare, and she said "if I feel fear, I can't feel love?") Julieta is very excited to hear about this, and wants to know when Lety is going to speak to him again. Lety gets nervous and squeaky and says no, he's in Acapulco and no human being would ever be able to leave there. She'll probably never see him again. Mom is disappointed, but Lety says it's okay because she's carrying him around inside - they're of the same spirit.

Gee. If only there were some way that people could communicate over long distances. Like some sort of device that would allow them to speak remotely, or an organization that could deliver written messages on paper, or perhaps a sophisticated, high-tech system for conveying words electronically.

Anyway, Lety continues, he will always be there on her wall - his strength, his intelligence, his wisdom (no mention of dexterity, constitution, or charisma... if you don't get my lame joke, never mind) as well as that of the sea. Julieta says Aldo must have done Lety some good - what a shame they can't see each other once in a while.

"Would you like me to help you with something?" Lety's mother asks. Lety gives her a strange look. (I'm not sure what she's thinking.) "I meant with your room," Julieta giggles. Lety asks her for a plastic bag to put away her stuffed animals. Mom happily agrees. Lety says the thing that makes her the happiest is that she won't have to see Fernando ever again. They share another happy giggle, but as Julieta leaves the room, Lety looks sad.

In the boardroom

Ariel is impatient. He wants Santamaria to spell it out for them: what is he proposing, exactly? Santamaria advises them to ask Lety to keep Filmo-Imagen and its lien on Conceptos. If she doesn't accept, Conceptos will disappear. But , he adds, the decision is theirs.

Humberto says that doesn't make any sense - the judge already ruled in favor of Filmo-Imagen seizing Conceptos. Santamaria points out that Lety could ask the judge for a six-month extension on the seizure.

"So we're still in Lety's hands?" Marcia asks bitterly. Santamaria confirms this. "It can't be," Marcia chuckles sardonically. Santamaria says he wouldn't want to get in the middle of whatever problems they've had with Lety, but she and her lawyers are in the better position, and Lety probably understands the consequences if FI should wind up in the Mendiroels' hands.

"In other words," Darth Teresita says incredulously, "we're going to have to beg her."

"We could say it that way," Santamaria says.

Humbo says he gets where their only way out is to keep the lien with Filmo Imagen, but it really bothers him that it means having to continue this game with all the creditors and banks.

Fern timidly raises his hand. He thinks it'll be okay because he and Lety had visited these banks together and explained that FI's loans were being extended to Conceptos. Santamaria explains that it will all be moot if FI's lien on Conceptos is cancelled. The banks have to protect themselves. Fern weakly protests that he had agreements with the banks. (I guess he doesn't understand that the agreements were based on the banks' high esteem of Lety.) Humbo says this is an embarrassment.

Santamaria says they need to decide amongst themselves, but make it quick, because either way, Lety has a date with the judge tomorrow. Just let him know what they decide. Humbo asks him to wait while they discuss it. Santamaria and Ariel's two useless lawyers file out of the room, and Humbo tells Ariel to shut the door.

Humbo lays it out for them: they can beg and plead with "that girl," or they can lose the business. What will it be?

Teresita, Marcia, Omar, and Ariel all look conflicted as they each mentally weigh their pride vs. all their earthly possessions. This doesn't take too long for Ariel, who doesn't have many possessions left since he's already sunk most of his assets into an apparently fruitless business deal. He says there's not much to discuss. They should liquidate Conceptos and split up what little remains and get on with their lives.

Humbo tells Ariel to stop being a jerk and sit down. He asks Ariel how he thinks he's going to get by on so little. Is he going to go out and look for little jobs to survive? How can he hold so little regard for what his parents left him? This business has given him life, and yet now, with the greatest coldness, he's saying "let's liquidate it." He's refusing to help pick up the pieces of 35 years' worth of work.

Ariel glares and sulks like a bratty little boy. "I remind you," he says self-righteously, "that I'm not the one who did this [literally, I didn't make those pieces]; your son is bringing them to you."

Impatiently, Fern points out that they are all trying to save their business, yet all Ariel can think about destroying it, as vengeance against Fern; and all because he didn't get to be president of Conceptos.

Teresita, the wonderful, loyal mommy, says that Ariel is just expressing his wishes.

Wow. I wonder if she's ever, even once, stood up for her own son the way she stands up for the Villaroels. Yes, it's sad that their parents died. But there's no way she can make up for that, and it's an insult to the senior Villaroels' memory that she's spoiled their kids.

She says that Ariel's wishes are not necessarily those of the committee; she proposes that they vote.

Ariel says they already know his vote: he wants to liquidate. And Humbo wants to try to stay afloat. Fern says he wants that too. Teresita says it's very complicated for her - her pride doesn't want to go with Lety, but she also wants to see her husband happy, and he doesn't deserve to see the death of his business. If there's any way to save it, she'll vote for that.

Omar says something like he represents the minor shareholders, and on their behalf, he votes that they talk to Lety. And Marcia says that as much as she would love to have Lety far away, she, like Humberto, feels that this company is her life. And he's like a father to her. She couldn't stand to see the company liquidated - for the sakes of Humberto and her own parents. That's much more important than any resentment she feels. Even if Ariel doesn't feel any moral obligation to their parents, and even if he lacks the integrity to put his hand on his heart for them (the committee), she'll do it herself. Even if she has to beg "that woman," she'll do it.

Ariel tells them to do what they want with Conceptos, but he's going to look out for what little capital is his. He's not going to be like the jerk that used to be in that office (referring to Fern's presidential office). He's going to expect results. (Of course, all that tough talk is just an effort to save face as he backs down.)

Humberto tells Ariel that's his right. (This halfhearted validation seems to take some of the wind out of Ariel's indignant sails.) He tells Marcia to go get Santamaria. She brings him back, along with the two useless lawyers. Humbo gives them the good news, and Santamaria says great, he's going to cancel his own meeting with Lety and her lawyers.

Teresita says why? How are we going to communicate with her?

Santamaria says he'll conduct the meeting if that's what they really want, but with all due respect, he thinks that would be incorrect. (Marcia bristles.) The situation is too delicate for her to discuss with a lawyer she doesn't even know. He reminds them that Lety would be doing them a favor. (Marcia bristles some more.) Omar voices his agreement with Santamaria, however; they are depending on Lety's goodwill.

There is some question as to which of them would be the best choice to speak with Lety. He, Omar, would love to do it, except Lety hates him - he doesn't know why. ;-)

Ariel says that he and Lety are natural enemies. Teresita says she's had very little contact with Lety herself, and isn't kindly disposed towards her anyway. Marcia says don't look at her - every time she and Lety talk, they insult one another.

All heads turn toward Fernando, who glances around defensively and says don't look at him either. He says they all know about the bad feelings between them. Ariel (more cheerfully now, after a commercial break) mischievously says he certainly remembers the moment when Lety gave him up to the committee, but he doesn't understand why. Everyone glares at him except Humbo, who ignores him and says fine, he'll speak with Lety himself. (Humberto is clearly the only adult among the shareholders.) She did ask his pardon when she resigned, so at least she has some respect for him. He tells Santamaria to also line up some plans for them with the banks, just in case they can't come to an agreement with "this girl."

Fern asks his father if he really wants the banks to know what's going on. Humbo says the banks are already aware of how things were before; so yes, he'd like for them to hear it from him. At least he will maintain that one shred of dignity. Humberto ends the meeting, saying he's tired.

Fern and Marcia wait for everyone else to leave, then exit the room together. Marcia notices that Alicia has already left, and wonders how she got home. Fern thanks Santamaria for the way he handled the case. Santamaria says nah, it's just his job. The lawyers leave. Marcia asks Fern if he will go home with her, or if he'd rather be alone to ponder the return of Leticia. She asks if he will go looking for her. He says he doesn't want to talk to Lety at all, and anyway, she hates him. (He doesn't say that he hates her.) He tells Marcia to go get her things.

He waits until she is out of sight, then retreats into his office to stare at a picture of Lety on his computer. So much for his reconciliation with Marcia.

He murmurs "Lety, my Lety." (Listen, Ferni - for the time being, she's not your Lety either.) Before long, Marcia screeches from the lobby that it's time to go. Fumbling with his mouse and keyboard, he closes the picture and leaves. (He does exactly what I do. He does a Ctrl-W to close it, then he realizes that the file he's trying to close isn't the active window, so he clicks with the mouse to select it, then does the Ctrl-W again to close it. This is silly - if you are going to reach for the mouse, you might as well use the mouse to close the file. But if you're a keyboard person, like I am and apparently Jaime is, you never think of that. Um, anyway... back to the recap.)

In the executive lobby

Alicia yawns at her desk while the cuartel chats excitedly about tomorrow - it will be a big day for Lola. She will be finalizing her divorce.

Meanwhile, El Cheque is on the phone at his office, upset about the divorce. Yazmin whines that he'll be giving Lola whatever she wants. (Something like that.) He sits her down - she cannot even take a seat without cheesecaking it up - and some bystander hands her a coffee. EC promises her that he won't give Lola anything except what's strictly necessary. And he wants her to go get her severence from Conceptos. She claims they won't talk to her, but he wants her to go there in person and pressure them to give it to her. She accuses him of making her go there because he wants Lola to be mean to her.

Noticing that they now have several male onlookers, he takes Yazmin aside and tells her that "we" need that money because he's short on cash. (They are now standing directly in front of someone's desk; Yazmin has her back to El Cheque, so the woman at the desk can see Yazmin rolling her eyes as he speaks!) He says it looks to him like she doesn't want to help him. He says he's going to leave, and stomps off. Immediately, the male onlookers start offering her water, coffee, etc... El Cheque rushes back in and ushers her out, saying they'll talk more at home.

Back at Conceptos, Lola says she'll bring down the full weight of the law on him. They head towards the elevator, where they are intercepted by Alicia. She tells them they can't leave, because the meeting hasn't ended yet. (They've had this conversation before.) Roller Derby Sara says that only applies to Alicia, because she's the waitress. The rest of them can leave because it's 8 o'clock. There is some foolishness as the whole group of feas keep walking in and out of the elevator to taunt Alicia about not being able to go home.

Martha comes back for a final insult (it's just a sarcastic "have a nice night"). "What did you say, fat lady?" Alicia demands. Martha turns to the elevator only to discover that the doors have closed and the rest of the cuartel has left.

"I'll take the stairs for the exercise," Martha says, running away in terror.

Luigi shows up. Alicia tattles to him that Irma has already escaped. Luigi is bummed because he wanted to do the proofs (or whatever "protecciones" are) for the lemon soda commercial. He needs a stand-in model for that. Alicia gets very enthusiastic and it sounds as though she will offer her services, but then she backs off, saying the job probably doesn't pay well, right? Luigi says he's sorry that "filthy" Yazmin got fired, because she had a good body for that sort of thing. Offended, Alicia points out that she has a good body, too. "Oh my God," Luigi says impatiently (in English). He says something about people making decisions in the boardroom without him, and him making decisions about something else, and something about a doll turning into a cheap hotel (obviously I've missed something).

Alicia offers him some gossip in exchange for a ride home, but he says he can't, because his dear Rulli is coming to pick him up. Then he says something about a guy named Alex and says it's tough to have a boyfriend these days. (Not that Alicia would know what that's like. ;-) Alicia says "tell me about it." So he tells her again. And Alicia says "tell me about it" again. Luigi retorts, "I just told you!"

Fortunately, the elevator arrives, and Luigi is whisked away from Alicia's vortex of stupidity. "Oh, now I get it," he says as the doors close between them. (I got the sneaking suspicion that this scene was ad-libbed.)

Alicia is counting her pocket-change when Santamaria and the two less useful lawyers step out of the boardroom to wait for Humbo and his gang to make a decision. She doesn't have enough money for a taxi, and there's no way she'll take a bus. One of the useless lawyers goes on an errand; another sits and looks through some papers. Santamaria approaches Alicia and asks if it's too late for a coffee. Motivated by poverty, Alicia graciously offers to find some for him, and perhaps a cookie as well. Santamaria strains to admire the view as she disappears around the corner.

Alicia pauses in the stairwell for a little prayer. (What, you can't pray and walk at the same time?) She is hoping to bum a ride home with the lawyer. She tells Jesus she needs a boyfriend now more than ever. If he gives her a miracle, she promises to talk less on her cell phone. (No doubt Jesus is tempted by this offer.) Wait, no - she reconsiders and says she'll offer something else instead, later. And, she asks, if possible, someone really rich, and with a car. An excellent car. New.

She comes back with coffee and a cookie. Pretending to make small talk, she says it's getting late and she is afraid to take a taxi home at this late hour - it might be dangerous. She is just about to come right out and ask Santamaria for a ride, when he interrupts and is just about to offer, when Marcia comes out to ask him back into the boardroom. Al complains about Marcia's bad timing, but Marcia is not in the mood to hear about it. (Again, I point out that their strange friendship is based on Alicia's seemingly endless emotional support of Marcia; in exchange, Marcia offers only material support, never emotional. I guess it works for them.)

Santamaria tells Alicia he'll finish the coffee later and leaves them. Al asks Marcia how much longer is this meeting going to go on, because it's getting late and she's tired. Marcia sarcastically tells her to go home, then. Alicia mimics her and prays some more for a boyfriend with money and a car. She says it's not so much to ask. She drinks Santamaria's coffee and eats his cookie.

Her prayers are promptly answered with the arrival of Saimon, singing. She tells the ceiling that she asked for a man with a car, not a motorcycle. A man with the wages of a president, not those of a messenger-boy. He tells her he's about to leave, but then flirts with her in his very wordy way. She tells him she's waiting for Marcia to take her home. He wishes her goodnight in several languages and then pantomimes skiing (?) to the elevator. She calls him back and he skis back to listen to her. He says he's going to his computer class. She asks him for a ride. He's only too happy to say yes.

He jubilantly breath-sprays his mouth. He says he hasn't used it in three months. (Last time I can remember was Patty Manterola, which was more than three months ago - or maybe it was with Christina Rivapalacios, but that was more than three months ago too.) Alicia complains about the smell and asks why. He says you never know who you might run into. She tells him to give up on his delusions - he's only dropping her off at her place.

In the parking garage, Saimon and Celso try to get Alicia to put on the helmet. (She is already wearing the yellow safety coat.) She says the helmet will ruin her "look." (Sanson, Celso's dog, sniffs her playfully.) Saimon says that's too bad, because it's the law - he can't take her if she won't put it on. (The dog starts snapping at the helmet in her hand, and it doesn't look so playful to me.) Saimon says the cops will easily notice her bleached hair and pull them over. Alicia protests that her hair color is natural. And perhaps it is, because if a nouveau-pobre like Alicia couldn't afford to go to the salon, her hair would either be showing some serious roots by now, or else some serious damage, because it is not so easy to keep up the maintenance on very long bleached hair all by yourself.

But I'm joking, of course. There's no way it's natural. I just think it's funny that her hair isn't a mess yet.

She also says the helmet stinks. Saimon babbles some more while Alicia coughs in disgust. Just then, Ariel steps outside, complaining to someone on the phone how things didn't work out the way he wanted them to.

Alicia is shoving the helmet at Celso, trying to get him to smell it and saying "gross" when she notices Ariel. Suddenly, she is all about the helmet. "He can't see me like this," she says. She puts it on and tells Saimon to go. She gets on the bike (the dog keeps snapping at her bag) and is desperate to leave. She nearly chokes Saimon in a death-grip. She won't put her hands where she's supposed to, and Saimon is babbling a lot about nothing and honking the horn while she continues to adjust her grip on him. She warns Saimon and Celso that no one must know about this! Flustered, Saimon yells very loudly that his word is like gold.

Finally Saimon and Alicia speed away on his wicked cool Vespa. Ariel ends his phone call just in time to hear Alicia's screams of outrage. He also recognizes her legs. He gloats, "ah, how to forget those legs, Alicia Ferreira."

In Acapulco

Aldo is talking to himself on his sofa, swooning over Lety. "What am I going to do with you, Leticia?" He chuckles to himself.

And... that's it for Aldo tonight.

There were only two Aldo scenes in this episode. I wonder if (as I started to say before) they're contractually obligated to give Juan Soler two scenes per episode. If so, it'd be nice if something would happen during those scenes... on second thought... perhaps not. ;-D

At Marcia's place

Fern and Marcia get to Marcia's place. He is still telling her that he doesn't in any way want to see Lety. Marcia is skeptical and is particularly worried that their need for Lety's cooperation will be a new chance for him to be with Lety again. Fern says no, she should know better than everyone just how finished that relationship is. He doesn't want any of that. He wants to forget it all - with Marcia's help.

Little does Marcia know that in an ironic twist of fate, she's become the rebound girlfriend!

Next week
Humberto makes Lety an offer she can't refuse.
Aldo proclaims his love from a variety of conveyances.
He wanders around without a shirt and decides to make a surprise visit to the city.

EPISODE 79:

* MA brings Otilia into the living room of the palace - everyone looks at them as Otilia starts to talk non-stop first to MA, then she says hello to Miriam and Karen, Miriam seems less than thrilled to see her. Gabriel tells Jossie that he would like to visit with their son before dinner and Jossie happily escorts him upstairs. MA looks disappointed and upset.

* In the bedroom nursery, Gabe hugs and kisses CB (for the sake of my own notetaking, I am naming the little lad "CB", abbreviation of his last name Cervantes Bravo). Jossie is all smiles and giggles as she watches the two together.

* Rogelio and Tiberio are drinking at their strip club, Rogelio brings up Dolores being in love with Nick - Tiberio hates that idea.

* Otilia expounds about her trips and the chefs who cooked such delicious meals - Miriam is bored and tells her politely to shut up about the past, she would rather live in the present. Jossie seconds the thought. Otilia changes the subject of her sermon to the competing design houses, and she makes the grand gesture of having a joint style show and Miriam can be the head designer. Miriam is unsure (hates the idea of working with Otilia) however Karen insists that it is a great idea and convinces her grandmother to agree to it. Once Miriam says okay, Otilia starts planning - Dolores gives her opinions - MA and Jossie roll their eyes at the same time.

* At MA's apartment, MA thanks Candy for agreeing to babysit LD for her. Candy leaves to get something from her apartment. MA walks into the other room for a minute. Just long enough for Gabriel to stroll in and start playing with LD. MA returns and is shocked and mortified to see Gabriel there - she asks what he is doing; he says playing with his son; she picks up LD and says he isn't your son and asks him to leave; Gabriel is focused, determined and stubborn and refuses to leave.

* JC and Pau are eating breakfast at their apartment. JC starts to stand up to finish getting ready for work and has a major dizzy spell.

* MA and Gabriel argue about whether Gabe is the father or not - Leo enters and overhears the argument - Leo sides with MA says that he is the father not Gabriel. Gabriel doesn't buy it and asks to speak with Leo alone. MA leaves with LD. Gabriel thanks Leo for all he had done for him and Luisito. Leo says you're welcome but it isn't necessary, he was doing his job. Gabriel brings the conversation back to the subject of LD's paternity - Leo says it is true he is the father - Gabriel doesn't believe Leo and thinks that he is covering in order to protect MA.

* Pau tries to convince her hubby JC to go to the hospital or Leo's clinic for an exam. JC kisses Pau and says he will be fine - he doesn't need to see a doctor.

* Soraya and Di are laughing as Otilia tells them about the dinner party last night at the palace, and the joint style show idea she got Miriam to agree to. They also discuss how MA is doing with her work and her son LD.

* In Candy's apartment, MA is venting her worries to Candy about the conversation Leo and Gabriel are having in her apartment as they watch LD play on the sofa.

* In MA's apartment, Leo and Gabriel are still deep in their conversation about why Leo feels the need to cover and protect for MA and LD. Leo tells Gabriel to go home and worry about Jossie and his son CB, and to give CB his last name. Gabriel tells Leo that he only loves one woman and that is MA, and then Gabriel leaves.

* Miriam and Ingrid are in the office talking about Otilia's style show idea.

* Otilia is back on-line blogging her advice column. Soraya interrupts her session to show her some new designs which gets Otilia thinking about the big style show again.

* In Candy's apartment, Candy and Elsa sit at the table - Elsa is frustrated about her poor luck in finding employment - Candy gives her support and blessing before Elsa leaves to try again. After Elsa leaves, the phone rings - it's Soraya.

* MA brings LD back to her apartment. As MA and Leo play with LD on the sofa, Leo informs MA about his conversation with Gabriel. They exchange worried serious looks.

* Gabriel is in his office thinking about what Leo just told him. Jossie and Karen enter - Jossie is so excited to start working at the construction company and asks if Karen can work there also - Karen explains that it will be part-time of course, and then tells Gabriel about her professors and her design classes in Paris. Gabriel agrees to the request. They happily leave the office.

* Candy visits MA and LD in MA's apartment. MA explains to Candy that she isn't about to give up her inheritance in anyway, and she will always keep the apartment as her own little refuge.

* Tiberio is in the home office working - he gets frustrated when he can't find something important and starts to yell and throw a fit. Dolores enters to try and calm him down and help - Tiberio yells at her to leave as he searches frantically for the important item. Finally he calms down when he finds it in the house complex model on the desk. Dolores smiles and then leaves.

* Demian and Regina are in Demian's business office talking. She is disgusted by his abusive jealousy and gives him an ultimatum. Demian changes into nice sweet Demian and apologizes. Regina smiles and accepts it. Demian asks Regina to lunch.

* Rogelio, alone in his office, thinks about Demian's offer and laughs to himself.

* Miriam, Jossie and Karen are gathered in Miriam's design office. Jossie and Karen talk about the plan against MA - Miriam isn't paying attention because she is more worried about her business. Jossie brings up Miriam's sale of her jewelry - Jossie and Karen both agree there will be no more jewelry sales to save the business. As they leave, Jossie frustrates her mom even more by mentioning that Otilia could just rise above her in business, and then she purrs.

* In her office, Otilia talks with Candy about modeling again for her big style show.

* Elsa is pounding the pavement and having no luck in finding work. She passes by a liquor store, stops to look at the bottles in the window, and then runs away fast.

* Dr. Leo is at his clinic examining a patient "Don Jose Luis." Leo listens to Don Jose Luis talk about his fears and need to get help in order to continue to work. Leo calms and comforts him, and then pulls out his cell phone to call AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) to make an appointment for Don Jose Luis.

* Dolores meets with Otilia, MA, Soraya and Di in Otilia's office. They agree to help MA become the best designer ever - MA happily accepts the assistance and says she also wants to rise above all her enemies.

* Jossie meets with Tiberio in Tib's office. Tiberio is still laughing and enchanted by the commotion of MA's return. Jossie changes his tune as she circles around him and convinces him and Rogelio to support her always.

* Rogelio wanders into Miriam's bedroom at the palace - he makes a bee-line straight for the wall safe. As he is opening the lock, Mayeya pokes her head in the doorway and spies on him taking more jewelry from the safe and putting it in his pockets. She sneaks away before he notices. He locks the safe and leaves hoping no one sees him.

* Jossie goes to meet with Demian in his office - she tells him her plan against MA and wants his support. He laughs and says he has to think about. Regina enters and interrupts. Demian wishes Jossie luck in her work at the company. Jossie leaves.

* In the kitchen at the palace, Mayeya (who can't keep a secret) tells Tweet what she just saw Rogelio doing in Miriam's bedroom. Mayeya is worried and asks Tweet for advice. Tweet says not to do anything at the moment and calms her down. She kisses him.

* MA meets with Gabriel in his office - MA thinks it is about work - he wants to discuss LD being his son - MA is frustrated and tells him to stop talking about it - Gabriel is determined and stubborn, he pulls her close, wraps his arms around her and as she tries to wriggle free, his lips overtake hers and she melts into kissing him. It only lasts briefly - MA breaks free and slaps Gabriel hard. She tells him never to try that again and flees from the office. She seeks privacy in her office to recollect herself and her strength.

* At the same time, Gabriel is sitting in his office, smiling, thinking MA does still love him. Jossie interrupts his thought bubble by bringing CB in for a visit. MA opens the door to the office and watches the happy family moment inside.

* MA returns to her office and thinks there is no way she will ever separate Gabriel from CB. Then she thinks about CB and starts to feel something strange in her gut instinct.

* Jossie and CB visit Karen in her office and Jossie tells her about their visit with Gabriel. Karen confides her thoughts about how her plan to get JC is progressing. Jossie and CB leave.

* Demian and Regina have a private lunch together at a restaurant. They kiss and then Regina's cell phone rings interrupting the moment. Regina just has to answer it. As soon as she says "Gabriel" and Gabriel starts to talk with her, Demian gets angry, hurt and jealous again. He yells for the check and says they will go back to the office because Gabriel is more important to her that he is. Demian storms out. Regina is in shock.

* JC has another dizzy spell in his office. As he braces himself on a desk, Karen enters to office. JC tries to recover his balance as he asks her what she's doing there. Pau enters at that moment - shocked to see Karen - and asks her the same question JC just asked. Karen explains how Gabriel agreed to let her have a part-time job there at the company.

* Nick meets with MA in her office - first they discuss business and her work then she brings up his love for Dolores - he says he declared his love for her but Tiberio is a huge road block for their relationship. MA explains Dolores' viewpoint as a mother.

* Regina cries as she enters Gabriel's office and tells him about Demian.

* Demian, in a foul mood, meets Jossie in his office. They exchange barbs and threats. As Jossie declares war between them, Gabriel bursts in and starts to attack Demian. Gabriel throws Demian out of the business and then he slugs his brother to the ground. As the fight starts to heat up, Regina enters to break it up.

Mundo de Fieras--Thursday, 1/18/2007

Tiberio is being his usual creepy self as he tells Rogelio about Mariangela crashing the meeting. He says she’s no longer provincial or simple but a real hottie.

Mari and Gabe are arguing about the paternity of Luis David (oh, I get it). Jos comes in and butts in, telling him that Mari’s changed and that he should know she came back from that trip to Paris pregnant. Gabe won’t hear of it…sure she looks different (um, scarier) and acts different but she’s still the same wonderful person. Mari asks Gabe to leave so that she and Jos can chat. The girls get in each other’s fact and tell each other to bring it on (and on, and on, and on…)

Karen comes in and asks Paulina where her mom is. She tells her she’s in with Gabe & Mari. Karen commences massive eye-rolling. Then tells Paulina not to worry about her friendship with JC, because it is just that…a friendship, since he is the only person who understands her. Paulina suggests she see a priest or, even better, a shrink. Finally, Paulina gives her permission for Karen to ask JC for advice.

Rogelio is having a hissy fit in Demian’s office. He’s pissed that Mari’s there and he’s not getting a bigger piece of the company pie. He asks for some shares and kind of threatens Demian that he has to help him out. Sure, says D, I’ll sell you some, but it’ll cost a lot of money…do you have it? Heh heh heh.

Gabe and Nicolas (I can never remember that loser’s name!) are chatting about MA. Nicolas helped her out, and Gabe says continue to support her. Gabe continues on that he believes the child is his and will fight to be near him. Nic says it’s going to be a long fight, because she’s a wounded fiera. Gabe’s ready and knows their love will be as good as before…even better.

The blond raccoons are having lunch and chatting about Mari…how she’s changed and how to deal with her. They are going to have a dinner and work on manipulating stupid Gabe.

Regina is cooing over the kid (who is pretty darn cute) and asks if Gabe’s seen him. Mari’s like, um no he’s not the dad so why would he see him. Wise old Regina’s like, you can’t fool me, you can’t lie and you have a good heart. Mari says, nope…out with the old and in with the new. I’m a bitch now and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Mariangela & LD go to visit Candy. She tells her that she would have come sooner, but she was busy confronting Gabe & Jos. Apparently the new Mariangela doesn’t include a new apartment and she goes back to her old one, remembering all her happy (and some of the bad) memories there.

Jos initiates Operation Manipulate the Stupid Viejo and invites Gabe to dinner so he can spend time with his son (she does this as she kisses and fondles Luisito’s picture).

Nicolas gives Dolores the Mariangela update. They discuss Joselyn’s date with a destiny called justice. Gabe comes in and asks if Nic will go with him to dinner and protect him from Joselyn. Then Nicolas asks Dolores along too. Awww….

The reformed Elsa was looking for a job all day and couldn’t find one. Everyone offers to help, but she says no, she wants to do it herself. Okay, they say…we’ll support you. Then Candy remembers she forgot to tell everyone that Mari is back. Leonardo has a cardiac arrest and falls to the floor dead. No—not really, but he does act like a complete buffoon and runs off screaming to her apartment (um…dude, you won’t get the girl acting like that!). He sees her and after he picks his jaw off the floor tells her she looks very pretty and that he missed her.

Paulina continues complaining about Karen (shut up stupid!) to JC. Then they pledge their undying and eternal love to each other (cue the anvil).

Jos gets home and starts giving orders. She picks up the phone and starts to make a call when Mariangela walks in. Jos asks, What the hell are you doing here? Mari answers that she’s decided to return to her house, which is as much hers as Joselyn. Jos is surprised and asks, why do you want to be just like me so badly. Mari replies, silly rabbit, I don’t want to be like you, I want to be better. Jos tells her to get back to the neighborhood where she belongs. Mari answers, I’m going to live here like it or not, but if you bug me, then you should get the heck out, go ahead…go.

Mari, LD and Mayeya are chatting in the bedroom (well LD is just looking off stage, not really chatting). Mayeya says he’s so cute. Then she spills the beans that Jos is a crappy mom (big news there) and that if it weren’t for the maids, who knows what would happen to the baby.

Mari’s about to go in to the other kid’s room when Joselyn screeches STOP!!! They argue for a bit, Mari even does that little headshaking in your face thing and then confronts Jos about when she became so awful, was it after she killed her mother, Edgar or Federico. Jos manages to hold it together long enough for the cool response of, “I didn’t do all that because I hate you, you aren’t worth it.” Then enters the room and falls apart.

Elsa is out walking the streets…I mean looking for a job…and is accosted by her old boss, who offers her a potent potable and her old job. She refuses. Then she meets Silvestre who continues to profess his love for her, while she continues to profess that she isn’t good enough for him since she’s damaged goods. He insists that he loves her and she walks off.

Gabe, Nic & Dolores show up for dinner. Jos is all smiles, then we hear Mari calling her name sharply and making her entrance. Gabe and Nic are trying to muffle their wolf whistles and Dolores is smiling at the thought of how much this must bug Joselyn. Mari tells her to set an extra place for her guest as well. Jos tries to tell her it’s not her dinner to invite people too. Mari says, get used to it, we both live here unless you want to divide the house in half.

Leonardo is whining to his mommy that although Mari has a smoking hot body and is still the same kind wonderful person as before, her eyes seemed harder and not like the Mari of before. Can’t have everything Leo, there's no Really Good Personality Barbie.

The dinner guests are having cocktails and Mari, Nic & Dolores are chatting about their little plan. Nic cautions Mari that Jos is super dangerous and she should be careful. Just as Jos starts complaining that if Mari’s going to invite guests for dinner without telling her, they should at least be on time, the doorbell rings and it’s….Otilia. Clearly Mariangela went through her little black book and thought, now who would irritate the hell out of the blond raccoons. Jos gets a little jab in at the end as she takes Gabe up to see “our son”.

Duelo de Pasiones, Thursday January 18 - Alvaro is definitely loco

Malena (who turns out to be a seamstress) advised Mariana to tell Alvaro the truth about her daughter because Alvaro would find out sooner or later. Mariana said didn't dare risk upsetting Alvaro. "He gives me money every month. I need it to maintain my daughter."

Orlando asked Emilio if he was going to get engaged to Thelma. Emilio laughed and said no, "I think I am in love for the first time, and not exactly with Thelma." Orlando called Thelma and reported this conversation, but she scoffed that Emilio didn't mean it.

Alfonsina planted Soledad's bracelet in Jose's bed and pretended to find it while Hugo was there.

Hugo went to see Soledad and said Alvaro wanted her to accompany him, Sergio, and Adela to the hacienda. Soledad refused, saying she wanted to look for her daughter, so Hugo lied and said Alina was already at the hacienda with Alvaro.

Soledad worried about Alina, but Adela tried to reassure her, saying, "The boss loves the senorita Alina a lot."

Emilio phoned Alina and said he was thinking of her "every second, every minute, and every hour." He went to see Thelma, who welcomed him enthusiastically. Emilio said, "We need to talk very seriously. We can't continue. I'm in love and I'm going to begin a new relationship."

Thelma spluttered, asking how he could break up with her so easily, but Emilio refused to discuss it, saying, "If I've hurt you, I beg you, forgive me. It's better that I go."

After he left, Thelma told her aunt she didn't know who Emilio's new girlfriend was, "but I swear I'm going to find out. That damn woman is going to be sorry. And him too."

Emilio went home and told Angel (who was painting a landscape), "I am free, brother. Nothing will come between me and Alina."

The guys who were following Jose finally attacked him, took his money, and left him for dead. A man named Arcadio came along and helped him stagger away.

During Sofia's party, Alina received a call from Blanca, who said she and Elias were leaving tomorrow for Canada. She asked Alina to keep in touch and said, "Your godfather and I are always going to support you."

Alina went for a walk on the beach, mooning about Emilio. A man grabbed her and threw her to the ground, but Emilio suddenly appeared and rescued her. (That makes at least four people he's heroically punched since the show started.)

Luba (the witch) had a nightmare about a ghostly man telling her, "You killed my son. You are going to die." Luba woke up crying and prayed to the Virgin Mary, "You know I don't want to die. Help me."

The next day, Emilio bought a necklace for Alina and said he wanted to introduce her to his brother.

Alina returned to Blanca's house and found Alvaro waiting for her. She said, "What's going on, Papa?" and he said, "I dont want you to call me that. I am not your father." Stunned, Alina said, "My mother isn't capable of betraying you. This has to be a mistake."

Alvaro ordered Alina to come with him. She protested that she had made a promise to someone else (ie Emilio), but Alvaro exploded, "I'm not asking if you can or can't. I'm giving you an order!" He refused to let her make a phone call or collect her things.

Soledad reached the hacienda and realized Alina wasn't there. She exclaimed, "You deceived me! Where's my daughter?" Hugo said that he'd only followed Alvaro's orders.

Mariana went to see her daughter's doctor, who said, "I don't have good news. Marianita has leukemia." He said she needed a bone marrow transplant.

Arcadio asked Jose to go to Sierra Escondida (I didn't catch why, some sort of job, I think). Jose said he knew the place and there was a man there who wanted to kill him (Alvaro). Arcadio said, "Another?" I guess Jose agreed to go with him, because in the next scene they were on a bus together.

Emilio worried because he couldn't reach Alina by phone. He visited Sofia, who said, "This is strange. Alina never does this." He asked if Alina had other boyfriends, and Sofia said no, "She's never been in love till now. She's crazy for you, Emilio."

Alvaro, meanwhile, was telling Alina (unless I misunderstood), "I hate you and I reject you!" He locked her in a room for the night. Alina said to herself, "It's like a nightmare. Emilio!"

The next day, Alvaro took Alina to Luba's cave and told her, "You are going to live here! If you escape, your mother is going to pay the consequences!"

Luba dragged the sobbing Alina into the cave and said, "You're going to sleep here, and you're not going to bother me."

Emilio told Orlando Alina must not return his feelings, after all, because she had disappeared. Later he told Angel he would look for Alina at her parents' house.

Alvaro went to the hacienda, where Hugo gave him Soledad's bracelet, saying it had been found Jose's bed. Alvaro said, "Thank you. I have another proof of Soledad's deceit."

He asked Soledad, "What was this doing in Jose's room?" Soledad gave up trying to reason with him. She said, "It doesn't matter what you say or do to me, but Alina is another thing." Alvaro said she could see Alina tomorrow, "but if you rebel, you and she are going to be sorry."

Alina asked Luba to help her, but Luba said, "Do you want the boss to kill me?"

Alvaro took Soledad to Luba's cave. Alina and Soledad embraced, crying and babbling. Soledad looked at Alina's t-shirt and asked, "Why are you dressed this way?" Alvaro said, "This is how a Caporal's daughter dresses! You are living the way a Caporal's daughter lives." (Either Caporal is one of Jose's surnames or I'm missing something.) He shouted for Gaspar (Luba's simple-minded son), who dragged Alina back to the cave. Soledad slapped Alvaro and he knocked her to the ground.

Words from this episode:
esclava = a type of bracelet
averiguar = find out

La Fea Más Bella #191 1/18/07 Home Sweet Home

Alicia goes into the meeting room to advise the execs that the Filmo Imagen lawyers (a.k.a. the Happy Hour Abogados or HHAs) have arrived. Fernando jumps and asks if Lety is with them, then stops himself and whistles [I guess to avert attention from his enthusiasm at the though of seeing Lety again]. Ariel says that Fern must be anxious to see Lety. Marcia defends Fern. Alicia, Miss Happy Hostess, offers everyone in the boardroom all kinds of snacks and Ariel snaps at her.

The cuartel watch the HHAs who are sitting in the executive lobby. They think the HHAs look familiar and remember that they are associates of Lety. They elect Sarah to try to get information about Lety from the HHAs. She sashays over and offers them a drink in her sexiest voice. They accept the drink but she doesn’t get any information about Lety. Alicia interrupts and tells them that the execs are ready to see them. Before going into the board room, HHA1 says that the tall one (Sarah) is juts his type. HHA2 says that one (Alicia) is just his type.

Robopop tells Julieta and Tomas that he went to speak with Humberto. At first they are impactados, then they assume he’s kidding and giggle. They ask what he talked to Humby about. He says they decided to face the situation created by their children and to clarify everything. Julieta tells him to spit out whole story. He says they also talked about life. He scolds Tomas for the trouble they caused and for deceiving him about the whole thing. Tomas defends himself saying they didn’t steal a thing. Julieta says it was all Fern’s fault. Robopop says that Fern already got his come-uppance; they took the presidency from him. Tomas says Robopop should not have gone to Conceptos like a dad going to see the school principal. Robopop says, regardless, he has resolved their problem.

The HHAs look apprehensive but finally sit down. They introduce themselves as lawyers for Filmo Imagen and Lety. Ariel immediately accuses them of coming to steal the company. HHA1 refers to is colleague HHA2 by his name, Jose Ambrosio Rosales de la Barquera (not sure what’s so funny, but this causes Omar the Imbecile, who is standing with Fern directly behind HHA1 to spit-laugh, spraying his saliva all over HHA1’s bald little head. Fern smacks Omar for being an imbecile and HHA2 wipes HHA1’s head with his hanky.

The HHAs say that Lety has no interest in keeping Conceptos. Ariel looks genuinely confused. They say they have no belligerent motives. Omar asks Fern what belligerent means. They agree to meet to transfer ownership of Conceptos the following day, so that Lety can be present for the meeting. A smile slowly creeps onto Fern’s face upon hearing of Lety’s return.

Lety and Caro arrive in Mexico City. Outside the airport, Lety stares at her seashell.

HHAs review Lety’s resignation letter and comment that it is terribly written. They think Lety should have contacted them sooner to write the letter on her behalf. They say they will come back tomorrow with Lety [geez, how many daily board meetings in a row are we up to now?]. Mama Bear doesn’t want to meet here at Conceptos. It sounds like she doesn't want Lety anywhere near the place. They agree to meet at the office of Mr. Santa Maria (Humby’s lawyer) instead and the HHAs leave. Humby asks the board if anybody still has doubts about Lety’s intentions.

The HHAs walk through through exec lobby. HHA2 flirts with Alicia and reminds her that she now has his card and should use it to call him. Alicia thinks she must really look poor if this dirt bag thinks he can score points with her.

Sarah flirts with HHA1 to get the scoop on what's happening but HHA1 says it’s a very sensitive subject and can not discuss it. Sarah says he can call her any time. The HHAs walk into the elevator and congratulate themselves for being quite the ladies’ men.

Lety and Caro arrive at Lety’s house. Lety thanks Caro again for rescuing her. Caro says Lety rescued herself. Lety says it’s now time to put to test everything she has learned. Caro says if she uses her inner strength, she can move the entire universe. Caro leaves and Lety stares at her seashell again and it reminds her of Aldo.

Santa Maria and the other Conceptos lawyers review Filmo Imagen’s paperwork and remark that Lety and Co. did great job managing FI. They think it’s a shame to close FI. Humby says it’s necessary in order to start paying Conceptos’ debts. His lawyers say selling FI won’t be enough to cover the debts. Humby says it’s a start.

The neighborhood bullies tease Lety. They ask her if she won the contest. Lety remembers wearing the Miss Puebla costume and the bellezas telling her how beautiful she looked. She asks “What if I told you I won?” They laugh. She tells Roman he looks relaxed. He’s dumbfounded but agrees. She tells them she can’t hate them even though they are major a-holes because she grew up with them. She gives them all a kiss on the cheek, causing more confusion. She giggles and goes to ring her doorbell.

Julieta and Tomas run to open the door. They hug and kiss Lety. Robopop sits at the table looking livid. He immediately tells her that he is aware of the scandal she has provoked. He lectures Lety about morals. Lety says she is not a delinquent and she didn’t steal a single peso. Robopop is even more ticked off that they conspired behind his back. The phone rings and Tomas says it’s their lawyer. Robopop and Lety continue to argue. Lety reminds him that she is an adult. Mom whispers that she should listen to him, because he went to Conceptos and spoke to the Mendiolas. Lety is afraid that the Mendiolas treated her papa like crap, but Robopop says he had a civilized conversation with Humby. He reiterates that they thought Lety planned to steal their company.

Humby tells the board he won’t let any part of Conceptos be sold. He will sell his properties, autos, etc. and tells the rest to do the same. He says he was crazy to give Fern the presidency, but now he will do whatever it takes to save Conceptos.

Tomas hangs up the phone and tells Lety she has an appointment with the Mendiolas’ lawyer tomorrow. Lety refuses to go to Conceptos. Tomas clarifies that the meeting is at the lawyer’s office. Robopop asks Lety why she did all of this? Lety says she did it for Fern. Mom strokes Lety’s hair in sympathy.

Ariel says he won’t sell his assets to save Conceptos, since it wasn’t his fault. Humby cuts him off. The lawyers recommend that they review everyone’s assets to see if it will even cover the debts. Ariel says all he has left is his apartment and his salary. The lawyers suggest they start by reviewing the value of his apartment. This makes Fern smile.

Lety admits to Pop that she is at fault for agreeing to go along with Fern’s Filmo Imagen plan. Explains that they had a falling out and she decided to tell everyone the truth and resign at the big board meeting. Pop points out that in doing all of this, she has tarnished their honor and then had the nerve to go on a pleasant vacation [Robopop must have been reading our blog's comment page!]. Lety points out that they were super-mean to her and she was in a hell. She didn’t go on vacation, she was recuperating and evaluating what happened in order to learn from it. At this point, all she cares about is that he forgive her. Now she is here to show her face just like he taught her. She will start a new life tomorrow. Robopop forgives her. Hugs all around!

In Acapulco, Aldo types away on his laptop. He speaks aloud as he types, and has a Freudian slip, saying “sabor de Leticia” by accident. He chuckles at this.

The lawyers tally everyone’s capital. Mom doesn’t want to hear the total. She whines that she is used to her bling-bling and it’s not fair to have to start her savings all over again. The lawyers say that if Lety gives back the company, the banks will come after Conceptos again. Mom asks then what’s the use? The lawyers point out that this is why created FI in the first place. they suggest that they keep Conceptos lienned to FI. Mom and Marcia are furious at the idea and get up to leave. Humby yells at them to sit down! He demands that they listen to lawyer first before making decision.

In her room, Lety takes down her wallpaper. She tells Tomas that she learned lots about herself. He says she seems very different now; mas valiente (braver). Lety attributes her change to Caro and Aldo. Tomas asks who Aldo is and she explains that he is someone incredible.

Aldo is on the phone telling someone he needs to open the restaurant ASAP. He calls Caro and asks for Lety’s info so he can call her. He tells her everything that reminds him of Lety. He wishes she was there with him. He can't wait to open the restaurant just so that Caro and Lety can come back for the grand opening. Caro tells him he is a lost cause. He asks her to send him the picture she took of him and Lety.

Lety tells Tomas about Aldo. Tomas tells her that he and Julieta tried their best to keep the Conceptos mess hidden from Robopop, but they could not avoid it when Fern showed up at the house. Lety sighs that at least he does not know everything. He winces as he tells her that Robopop doesn’t know, but Mom does. Lety is super-impactada! She says she will die if that's true. Tomas insists it wasn’t him who told her. Lety remembers the diary she left behind. Surely Mom read her diary!

Mundo de Fieras - Jan 17 2007 Where year old infants remain unnamed

** In Gab’s apartment: Gabriel can’t believe the nightmare he’s going through and reflects that MA told him that her baby is by someone else… Regina shrieks at him that the baby is his, MA told everyone so, everyone knows it!

** JC and Pau hug while Pau anguishes over how Gab can’t seem to be happy or find love

** Joz drinks in bed while the baby cries in his basinet… Miriam enters and says she has to take care of the baby and be a good mom… Joz says only when Gab’s around… she can’t stand taking care of MA’s baby.
They talk about how they’re putting doubts into Damian’s head about Regina’s faithfulness to him… Joz smiles wily and does that really irritating hand movement.

** Regina comes home and Damian confronts her on the stairs cuz she’s late. She says Gab needed her support, Dam starts spittin’ and sputterin’ about how it’s always all about Gab, Gab this Gab that… Dolores walks in and Dam stomps off to eat dinner… Regina says maybe Dam is right, he needs her attention. Dolores looks unconvinced.

** New Location: Los Angeles, CA **

** Otilia types away on computer working on her website for cheated women. Imparts lots of Dear Abbey type advice to all her fellow wronged women.

**MA walks in – the operation for baby is scheduled for tomorrow, after all these exams, she seems relieved… Apparently she hasn’t named the baby yet (!!!) And she’s just now naming him Luis David after the really annoying Luisito and cute David who drowned some time back… Otilia approves of her name choice.

** Candy and Leo chat about little LD’s operation as Candy prays to the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. She brings up poor Elsa – Leo hugs her saying how they need to give Elsa loving support.

** Elsa comes out of the back room sobbing and starts shouting about a dream where rats and snakes were coming out of a hole (? Or something) to get her… she’s freaking out and maybe hitting that “bottom” they say alcoholics have to get to??? Hmmm… They eventually calm her and Leo puts his necklace of the Virgin Mary around her neck.

** Messes despues – Months pass by (how many, who knows) **

** Joz is dancing with the old dude from Bailando por un Sueño (if you’ve seen that show) She is using him as a balance bar with her leg on his shoulder… he comments that she is as flexible as ever, LOL! Uh, Yeah. They agree that the baby has a great father in Gab and says something about how he lives with Gab??? Doesn’t this baby have a name yet or did I miss that???

** Otilia raves about how little LD’s operation went great. MA says not as well as she’d like but Otilia say’s he’ll grow to play like all the other kids… we can’t see MA, the back of her head is to us in a mysterious kind of way… Otilia say’s MA has changed and that she’s her greatest masterpiece (obra maestra). Hmmm…

** Gab plays w/his (and Joz, but really MA’s, un-named) son. And Mayilla (is that her name, the chubby blond maid) hangs out with them. They chat about MA’s (but really Joz’s) baby’s operation. She gives him a little update and he asks her to keep him informed, she agrees.

** Tiberio gives Damian the papers he “asked for” He, Dam, says: you know I don’t like people failing me… Tiberio looks startled… then tells him that he and Rogelio have a table dance business… Dam LHAO (laughs his a** off) and says that they can do whatever they want with the money he gives them… what a supportive Dad/Tio!
Tiberio asks if he thinks Gab will be as understanding. Tiberio goes on to say Dam doesn’t seem so happy with his bro lately… Dam says he can only take so much, he has a limit, and he repeats in case we didn’t “get it” that, he has a limit. (Yes, Damian, we all have a limit! Good grief!)

** Nick and Dolores chat about MA & Otilia, Nick says he’s been advising MA with her professional training, suggesting certain things… Dolores says “Ah…”

** We see little LD – super cute kid, appearing maybe 1 year old, playing happily on a bed with his own shoe… MA’s voice is in the background saying she’ll defend the both of them against whomever: even if she has to become a Fiera…

** Next we’re outside at the worksite where Pau, Gab and an unnamed, but very good looking, female assistant are talking about all the different aspects of the community housing project that the contructoria is building… Pau & Gab hug and smile about their blossoming project…

** Back at Doña Candy’s the gang has gathered: Sylverstre, Leo, Candy, Mayilla, Chaparro (is this his name? The short sidekick to Mayilla, and is that her name? Ah well… on we go…) they reminisce: Leo jokes around about Candy (telling about some funny thing she had done that I didn’t quite catch) then Candy tells them that MA is returning home tomorrow… Leo becomes more serious and thanks God… Leo tells Candy they’re going to pick up Elsa from the clinic tomorrow, too. She’s all healthy and ready to come home. Candy says they’re all happy and have great news except Mayilla & Chaparro, then Candy suggests why don’t the two of them just get over it and realize they’re mad for each other… they feign indignation.

** At Gab’s apartment he sits thinking about MA, remembering their first kiss and loving moments and when they were “together.” Then he remembers the incident in the hospital with MA telling him LD is not his baby and to hit the road. His eyes dart back and forth as he says to himself… the more he thinks about it the surer he is that little LD is his baby too… (Good grief, DUH!)

** Karen and Joz prance around Joz’s bedroom as Miriam looks on, Joz says tomorrow she’s gonna go to the board meeting at the contructoria… Karen smiles creepily as she says Joz will show Regina up and that Regina could never “opacarte” overshadow her? Or maybe it means “hold a candle to you.” They all look at each other creepily (becuz they’re fieras of course, lol).

** Mayilla and Chap are playing on a swing set… Chap admits he likes her… she admits to trying to make him jealous with Gabino. Chap asks her to be his novia… they give each other a “peck” on the lips and giggle.

** Next we see Nick with a mysterious look on his face talking to a mystery person on the phone… he tells the mystery person he’ll do whatever the mystery person wants and not to worry…

** Joz arrives at the board meeting decked out in a shocking blue skin tight dress, with matching earrings (of course). Tiberio is excited to see her, enthusiastically greeting her and seating her at the table. Nick comes in… everyone is present: Nick, Joz, Damian, Gab, JC, Pau, Regina & Tiberio and they wanna start the meeting… Nick say’s they need to wait just a little longer… everyone looks at each other; some confused, others irritated and yet others exasperated…

** Meanwhile: Rogelio is throwing a fit in his office about not having enough stock shares to be in the meeting… He has to be there, has to be there!!! and takes off his jacket roughly and throwing it then grabbing at this hair…

** Back at the board meeting, Joz asks why they can’t just start the meeting… Nick says they’re waiting on a board member… Joz asks who… a familiar voice says “Yo!” – It’s MA! This must be our mystery person… Everything goes into slow motion, Joz turns around in slow mo, Gab looks shocked, in slow mo… Pau smiles and Joz’s mouth hangs open.

MA looks like a million bucks, all grown up with twice the amount of makeup and her hair cascading down one side of her face with a long gold earring dangling on the other… Nick looks pleased. She says it's her they’re waiting on, then smiles coquettishly… Gab has the look of, well… how to explain it, like he hit the jackpot -- or something better…

** cut to commercial**

** The meeting resumes and MA takes her place at the table… Joz asks what is she doing there??? Nick say’s chill out baby, MAs got stocks too… MA gives Joz a look like, Uh Huh, that’s right, I got stock! And then Gab starts the junta.

** Back at Candy’s: Candy is cooking with a roaring fire on the stove, I didn’t think those stove-props really worked but a blazing “fire” is coming out of one of the burners which looks like it’s gonna catch poor Candy’s arm on fire… We hear Leo come in… he’s with Elsa, yay, she’s back all sana y salva… Sylvestre is with them and everyone fawns over a teary Elsa

** Back at the meeting MA and Joz bicker a bit about business, I didn’t catch completely what it was all about, but seems to take everyone takes sides with either Joz or MA. Nick say’s they need to make an office in the constructoria for MA… Joz looks surprised and says SHE needs an office too. Gab says if they want to come in and work everyday then they both can have offices. MA & Joz glare at each other.

** Elsa come out of the back room and tells Candy she’s gonna go look for a job (wearing tight jeans, t-shirt & one of those cropped little jean jackets? – but who am I to judge, at least she matches) she hopes that no one will reject her because of her previous behavior (no worries about her attire, though)… then kisses Candy and asks her for the bendición.

** The board meeting has ended and everyone gets up and MA chats with Pau & JC – she’s come back to take care of her son’s stock in the company. Uh, yeah, ok. Gab wants to talk w/her… they head out to his office and everyone takes off except Dam and Joz… Dam taunts Joz that now that MA is back her little plan is spoiled (se ha echado a perder) Joz just looks slightly irritated at him.

** In Gab’s office he and MA banter back and forth about Joz’s (unnamed) baby being Gab’s, he finally says little LD is his too… she looks upset.

** Tiberio waltzes into Rogelios office with the big news about MA’s return, he drools about her big “change” and says she a new woman and that she’s not country bumpkin anymore she’s a “mujer expectacular” and looks hungrily (I guess I’ll call it, or maybe lustfully) toward the camera.

** In Gab’s office: MA is indignant about Gab claiming he’s the Dad of little LD… he says he’s right… Joz slinks in saying she doesn’t understand why he clings to the idea that LD is his… and if MA says the baby isn’t his then he isn’t… MA and Gab both look anguished and slightly annoyed… Then seemingly on the spot, Joz makes up a story about MA coming back from Paris pregnant… and as if they had conspired together, MA stubbornly says that it true… Gab looks towards her in slow mo with a look of disbelief…

** Fin

Duelo de Pasiones - Wed. Jan 17

Adela tells Soledad to pray to God asking that He will open Alvaros eyes. The same sort of conversation is being held by Elias and Blanca who think Alvaro has gone mad. Alvaro insists that what Don Manuel (Soledads father) warned him many years ago is coming true; that Soledad would betray him.

Alina and Emilio are seen making out on the beach. Emilio grabs for her breast, she pulls his hand down. He asks her to forgive him. He would never do anything that she didn’t want him to do. He is serious about her. He doesn't want just a fling.

Thelma goes to the Cueva de Diablo, Devils Cave Bar, to track down Coral. She pays a man some money to bring Coral to her for a chat. Coral comes over and Thelma promptly tells her that she is engaged to Emilio. (She uses the word prometida which means promised. She is not quite a fiancé but almost. For example: Look Mommy & Daddy! He gave me a promise ring!) Coral tells Thelma to chill out, she is just doing her job. Thelma tells Coral that she has warned her! She throws a glass of water in Corals face to prove the point a little more. Coral has to be restrained by two men from beating Thelma into the ground.

Emilio tells Alina that he doesn't want to be separated from her. Please stay out longer with me he begs. Alina, the good innocent catholic school girl, tells him she can’t and goes in for the night.

Alvaro is seen alone sitting at a table at a sidewalk restaurant hallucinating that all the people are talking about him. His head tells him they are all calling him names; cornudo – from the old Alborada saying of ponerse los cuernos, meaning literally to stick with horns implying that he has been cheated on, and engañado - he’s been deceived.

Alina tells her friend Sophia that all she did with Emilio was kiss him. She proudly tells Sophia how Emilio wants to have a real relationship with her not a fling. Sophia is not impressed and warns Alina to be careful. Sophia leaves the room and Alina stays on the couch day dreaming about Emilio; his singing at the party, his kisses. Sophia returns to the room and teases Alina for day dreaming. She tells Alina that Emilio is a womanizer. Alina should listen to her because she has had more experience with men than Alina. Alina admits that she has never had a boyfriend, only male friends. Sophia tells Alina how boys promise the world to get a girl. She warns Alina not to fall in love with Emilio.

Blanca and Elias rehash Alvaro’s mental health. They both agree his is crazy. Elias might have actually said that Elias has a mental disorder but that’s the same thing. Elias says he is going to go to Veracruz to talk with Soledad.

We see Elias being let into Soledads prison room. He tries to calm Soledad by telling her that Alina is at the beach. Soledad needs to remain calm. Soledad repeatedly asks What should I do? Elias says he is going to talk with Jose.

Marianna walks into a bedroom to find her daughter unconscious. They rush the child to the hospital where a doctor tells Marianna and her cousin Melina that they have to run tests. The doctor tells the women to take the child home until they can examine the tests. He tells them that the child is alright for the time being.

There are some pointless scenes of Sophia swimming, and Alvaro talking on the phone etc etc.

Jose packs up a truck with large metal pieces. Two thugs hide around a corner and look at the amount of work he has done and comment on it.

Alina has breakfast with Sophia and worries she will never see Emilio again. Sophia is pleased and tells Alina to be happy. If Emilio doesn't come looking for her that means he isn’t into her. Alina talks about how that cant be, she believes everything Emilio told her.

Hugo talks with Elias about THE LETTER. Hugo thinks the letter is proof because it mentions a daughter and Alina is the only daughter around these parts. Very smart man there. Elias tries to talk some sense into the thick headed bandana wearing man.

Back in Puebla Thelma makes herself at home in Angels and Emilio’s apartment. She tells Angel that she won’t leave until she talks with Emilio. Finally Angel tells her he will make her a room to stay in because she will be waiting a long while. Thelma decides she doesn't want to camp out with Angel and leaves.

Alfonsia argues with Hugo about the validity of THE LETTER. She tells Hugo that Jose is a dead mosquito. Hugo tells her that he doesn't believe Soledad cheated on Alvaro. It appears that Elias’ little chat with Hugo worked since he is taking a different side from his last conversation with Elias.

Thelma talks over her plans for Emilio with her aunt/singing friend. The aunt says that Thelma will never let Emilio leave her. She sings the word never - Nunca. Thelma and I look at her wishing she would stop.

Alina and Sophia continue arguing whether Emilio will show up again or not. (Sophia makes Renata from Heridas look like a great actress. She is horrible!) Alina states she believes she will see him. At just that moment the love struck Romeo arrives. Alina is happy.

Alvaro shows up at his cousins’ place looking for his sister. Marianna seems surprised to see Alvaro. Alvaro immediately spies the sick sleeping child. He asks her whose child is this? There is a commercial break to play up the suspense. Yet there really is no suspense because Marianna quickly tells Alvaro that the kid belongs to Melina. He seems surprised to find out that his cousin has a daughter. He complains to his sister that gosh he didn’t know! She tells Alvaro that he doesn't know a lot of things because he never shows any interest in anyone besides himself. Melina comes home. Alvaro asks her who the father is. I think she dodges the question and leaves the room because I wasn’t paying too much attention. Sorry.

Emilio asks Alina what she would do if he hadn’t looked for her. She tells him she would have searched the world for him. They are starry eyes and all giggly together.

Marianna tells Alvaro that she doesn't mean to get involved in his business but he shouldn’t be so irritable. Soledad loves him. Alvaro tells her that’s right it’s his business so butt out. He gives her some money and tells her to tell Melina goodbye. To finish off his social niceties he tells her that the coffee she served him was horrible and he leaves.

Emilio tells Alina that with him she will never be sad. She tells him that Sophia said some things about him. He stops her and says let me guess that I’m a womanizer? Si she squeaks. He explains that some of what Sophia said is true. “I have been a womanizer. But you are getting to know the real me. My love is not a game.” He gives her all of his telephone numbers so they will never lose contact.

Elias tells Alvaro to get a DNA test done on Alina. Alvaro tells him THE LETTER is all the proof he needs. Alvaro leaves and Elias hopes that Alvaro’s anger will pass.

Emilio tells Angel that for the first time in his life he has fallen in love with an innocent woman. Next week he plans on going to Veracruz to ask for her hand.

Thelma has dinner with Orlando. She complains that she hasn’t heard from Emilio. Orlando laughs that she must not be that important to Emilio because Frank has talked with him. Plus Orlando has heard from Frank that Emilio has fallen for a society girl. Thelma is pissed but she doesn't want Orlando to stop talking. She tries to pump him for more info. Orlando has other ideas and tries to make out with her. She pushes him away and tells him she will do anything to defend her love for Emilio.

Alina tells the same thing to Sophia; how she will defend her love for Emilio to anyone, even her Papi. Flash to Emilio lying in bed. He is daydreaming of marriage and kids with Alina.

Alfonsia creeps past Sergio, the gun toting watchman, and sneaks into Soledad’s prison room. Soledad is asleep and never wakes. Alfonsia grabs something from the bedside table and sneaks out.

We see Emilio riding a horse and jumping hurdles, English style, while in uniform. Orlando and Frank watch on and argue. Frank taunts that Emilio is Orlando’s great rival. He laughs that Orlando always picks up Emilio’s leftover girlfriends. Orlando tells Frank to be quiet, Emilio is his best friend. Frank laughs some more and warns Orlando to never like any girl that is interested in Emilio because Emilio will always take the girl away from him.

Flash to Sierra Escondido. Alvaro and Rutilio survey the mountain land on horseback. The two men talk about what a forsaken place it is, hidden from all civilization. Rutilio tells Alvaro the town is thankful to Alvaro, their boss, for giving them the land they are on. Alvaro again comments on how the town/area is in the middle of nowhere with no good roads to reach it.

We see a middle aged lady buy a knife in town. She leaves town on a burros back being led by a man-child. People stare at her and laugh. She screams at them. Later we see her give some medicine to a woman. The woman tells her, Luba you are a good woman. Luba tells her she wants to be known as bad so people won’t meddle in her business. She reminds the lady to give the medicine to her husband but to know that the force is in her (women). The woman leaves and soon after the man-child comes into the house to announce that the Patron has arrived. Luba goes outside to talk with Alvaro. He gives her some money and tells her that he will be bringing a girl that he wants her to take care of for him.

After Alvaro leaves Luba tells the man-child that Alvaro is going to bring them a flower. The man-child giggles asking a field flower? She tells him that flower will bring them love.

Alvaro and Rutilio ride their horses past some field laborers working on what looks like grape vines. One worker stumbles out talking to himself that he is sick and needs to see the curandera (Luba). Alvaro looses his cool when he sees the man not working. He yells that he pays the men to work not to rest. Alvaro rides off in a huffy. Rutilio tells the worker to get some water and go back to work. The worker claims that Alvaro has always been like that, mean. Rutilio says no I think he is getting worse.

Luba slaps at the man-child to not ask any more questions. She tells him they have to do what the Patron wants so they can keep living where they have been. She talks about how nice it has been to be living there hidden away for so many years. If those people knew where she was they would burn her alive. The man-child laughs and exclaims they would burn them both alive! Luba calls him menso meaning stupid/idiot, and swats at him to leave her alone.

Soledad is seen looking around her prison room for a bracelet. The bracelet is what Alfonsia took when she was in the room.

Alvaro has rounded up his hacienda staff and threatens them with a horse whip. He wants the bedrooms organized. He asks Rutilio to stay and sends the rest of the staff off. He wants to know if Maximo Valtierra is still in charge of the ranch Arrinconada. (The ranch is owned by the Valtierras, none other than Emilio’s family.) Rutilio tells Alvaro that Maximo is the only one has legal rights to the property. Alvaro says he has to talk with him. He then orders Rutilio to get Sergio to guard Soledad. Rutilio wishes there was a phone as he leaves the room. Alvaro thinks to himself that he is happy there isn’t a phone. He goes off into his mind like the Grinch who stole Christmas. He seems gleeful as he thinks about how to punish Soledad for her betrayal. He has an orange memory of giving Soledad a gold bracelet. He talks out loud that he won’t have pity on her.

La Fea Más Bella #190 1/17/07 The sunset of the Acapulco Fantasy, Robopops Conceptos debut , and Viejos Bond

Alicia Asks Marcia if she got back together with Fer. Marcia says yes and makes sure she says it loud enough for the cuartel to hear. Satisfied? Alicia says yes for now, but asks for the details eventually. She makes sure the cuartel heard too. The cuartel begins to discuss this. Juana says that’s good for Marci because she’s been going around like such a pitiful soul. Lola says, you’re telling me, I’m the one who always ends up paying for the broken plates. My work hasn’t been easy, with so many things, I shouldn’t even bother telling you all, you just make me famous for whining. Martha thinks that Marcia just threw out her lasso and got him, this time they’ll get married for sure.

Don Humb arrives and Alicia follows them like a puppy kissing their you know whats. He basically ignores her and they keep marching straight for the conference room. One lawyer lingers a glance with a devilish smile. This gives Alicia confidence and she struts away with Juana mocking her.

We go back to Lety basking in the throne of white mums with a crown of daisies on her head [Ok, I have to ask, how did he get this chair out there all of a sudden?].

PG begins his craft…

Spirits of Light, Spirits of Love, Spirits of Peace, Good Fortune and of Prosperity, illuminate the mind, body, spirit, and the path of this woman so that nothing and no one will hurt her. That from this moment her enemies tremble at the thought of her because they see a divine presence in her mind. God is with her today, tomorrow, always, and for all eternity. From this moment your plans, projects and everything that grows in your heart will be a reality. That from this moment remain cancelled out the sadness, the accidents, the betrayals and the illnesses, and from this moment that you program yourself for cries to turn to smiles, sadness to happiness, sickness to health, from loveless to love. Thank you father, for you have listened to me.

Come we are going to throw all the negativity away in the ocean in order to transform; From this moment you are a another woman. From this moment your life has changed for the better and no one can take what you desire away from you. Look at the heavens and tell God all that you desire.

And the poor mums are sacrificed to the ocean.

Ariel presents Alicia to the new criminal lawyer. He continues that she tried to study finance in the university but she dropped out after six semesters. Ariel - She also married Mauricio Birgman, but he got rid of her quickly. In an act of kindness and pity my sister hired her to work here. I propose you set up a meeting, that is if you like her. It’s an appropriate time because she is desperate for a husband. Alicia tells him that’s enough, he has no right. Ariel says yes, but I have the right to ask for a coffee with one cube of sugar and a glass of water. The lawyer (who actually seemed disgusted at Ariel) does not want anything to drink. Alicia warns Ari he will pay and he tells her again to get the coffee and summon everyone to the meeting.

In Fer’s old office Marc is tending to his wounds again. Alicia tells them that everyone is waiting for them. He tells her he’s coming. Marcia asks him if he is ready to confront all the people. He says yes. She says count on me and kisses his wound. Blech. They go into the conference room.

Humb introduces Fern to the new criminal lawyer Manuel Santamaria, who specializes in high finance. The lawyer introduces himself to Fer and tells him that his father told him that Fer was going to get together with the Padillas to try and reach some agreement with them. Fer tells him yes, but it definitely ended up impossible to come to an understanding with those folks. Ariel pipes in that they shouldn’t go in circles around this anymore and tells the lawyer to proceed.

Erasmo shows up at Conceptos. The cuartel is impactado and wonder why he’s there. He says he’s there to speak with Don Humb. Just then Alicia passes through yelling once again at the waitress to hurry and serve coffee in the conference room, because she doesn’t want them to bother her instead. The waitress cracks back that surely Alicia didn’t get her car back!

Sara confirms that he has no appointment and Erasmo tells her it’s not necessary because what he’s here about is of the utmost importance. Lola apologizes politely because Humb is in an important meeting and Martha adds that she doesn’t think he can be disturbed. Erasmo tells them firmly to go tell him he’s out here. Alicia interferes and asks if he didn’t hear, that he can’t be attended to right now. Erasmo stares Abitchia up, down and around, and Sara yells, as he appears to look intently at her chest (though I think he’s studying her, uh, face, really). He believes he’s seen her somewhere before. She thinks it must have been in some high society magazine. It dawns on him that he knows her from the photo. [Well he did sort of from the mag, but only because Tomas had it cut out and lacquered to his hand!] She thinks surely he’s talking about the society magazine, make that plural. He tells her she’s Alicia Ferreira and she says yes, the same, and that she is pretty famous. She is flattered that he knows who she is. He says of course he knows; she is one of Lety’s secretaries! He says I’m her Papa, at your service. She says my Papa? (He uses the article “su” which can have both meanings) He says no, Lety’s! He introduces himself as the father of her (Oxi’s) boss!!! The cuartel giggle.

Back at the hotel the floral meditation session is over and Lety is cured? Enlightened? Well, she has a new piece of jewelry anyway. PG looks a little sexier with his hair kind of mussed from the sea. L -Now I am dying to get back to Mexico City because I’m afraid that my father is going to be desperate and complicate things worse than they already are. Jorge tells her they will say goodbye here because he’s going to stay a couple of days at the beach, because the ocean is what called him, but he will see her soon. She says good-bye and thanks him again. Caro comes running up and tells Lety she’s been looking all over for her, that they need to go to the airport now. Lety tells her not to worry because she’ll take a bath and she’s ready. Caro tells her she’ll go finalize the bill {and cut to commercial} L- Caro do me a favor between friends and get me a card with all of the information on this hotel because I’m sure that I will bring my parents here to the Fairmont Acapulco Princess someday. Yes, great idea, now hurry please.{and we’re back}

Alicia says as much as you are the Dad of that woman I’m not going to announce you and least of all interrupt the meeting unless you tell me what we can do for you then. Sara interrupts, and says, “Listen to me, and besides you having corn ears (or corn cob) hair and double turkey breasts, have you turned deaf? Can’t you see that he’s here to speak to Don Humb?” A- You, aside from being a giraffe, old maid, resentful person and stupid, can’t you see the deaf one is him? I ‘ve told him until I’m blue that Humb is busy and can’t be interrupted. Erasmo says, “Look Miss, first I’ll ask you to do me the favor of respecting me, that I came to tell you, you woman with big red eyes, I demand that you inform Humb that I’m here. Ali- Look, I never followed one of your daughter’s orders when she was here so I’m not going to follow yours either.

Sara says not to worry she’s going to give them his message. Ali tells her not to move.

Sara says she’ll give her the opportunity to stretch her brain just a little, to realize that he must be here for something important. In case she hasn’t noticed that Fer has done nothing but live for news of Lety. Something is happening and since you are such a gossip you must know what it is. So the committee should know that he is here. But fine, if you don’t want us to say anything nevermind. We the cuartel will just wash our hands of it all and say nothing if that’s what you want. Finally Alicia agrees she will interrupt the meeting to let them know. She announces him and Fer’s eyes react. At first Humb doesn’t know who he is, but Fer clarifies it’s Lety’s dad. Fer asks her if he asked for Fer or his Papa. Alicia says he asked for Humb and that would be your Papa. Fer says ok fine, the six semesters rendered fruitful and he cuts her off. Marci says something about him not going alone and she doesn’t want to speak with him, but Fer says he’ll go. Ariel wonders what the problem is, why he doesn’t just come into the meeting. Fer tells him he didn’t ask to speak with the whole committee, just my Papa, or is he your Papa, putative!!

They go out and each introduce themselves. Fer asks what Don Erasmo is doing here. He begs Fer’s pardon but he didn’t come to talk to him. Marcia chimes in and Erasmo says the same to her. E insists on speaking only to Don Humb. Erasmo tells Humberto that he wants to talk gentleman to gentlemen about Leti’s matter, between decent people, but he would like it to be in private. Humb agrees and they adjourn to his (Fer’s used to be ) office. Marci says to Fer not to leave Humb alone with him because she doesn’t trust that man, but Fer tells her, well, he trusts him a lot. Omar then approaches Fer and teases him, that if his relationship with Lety comes out he’s a goner and he makes the head being chopped off motion. Fer knows this and tells him to shut up. Omar advises him if he were him he’d listen in to find out what’s going on, in case you need time to run away, my brother.

Caro is very pleased that Lety’s friend helped her to be able to forgive. Lety agrees. She says she feels liberated. As if a great weight has been lifted of my shoulders. C- So then you are ready to return to Mexico City. L- Yes, I am ready to return. She grabs her medallion. She says she must confess that this experience in Acapulco has been marvelous and incredible. She thanks Caro.

Humb sits down with Erasmo and offers him something to drink. Erasmo refuses saying it’s much too early. [I bet Lety’s lawyers wouldn’t feel the same way] Humb says ok, I’m all ears. Erasmo says he finds himself very confused and upset about this problem. I just learned of this issue this morning and so I came directly here to discuss it with you.
Humb says yes he appreciates that he is there, because he would like to avoid legal confrontations, and especially criminal with the lawyers. That’s why he sent his son to talk to you. Fer falls over himself and a chair trying to hear through the walls, and pretends he’s sitting casually, holding one decorative ball. Fer continues that unfortunately he couldn’t speak with Fer this morning but he agrees that they should handle this without resorting to the lawyers. E is sure they can resolve this between gentlemen because his daughter is going to return the business down to the last cent. Humb appreciates that he said that but it doesn’t appear that is her intention. The last message she sent was to work it out with her lawyers. Erasmo tells him that he apologizes that she acted that way but he needs to consider that the arrogance and the attitude of his son had something to do with that and his behavior left much to be desired. Lety never contemplated, nor would I allow her to take your business, nor that other one they created. Filmo Imagen. I don’t know how well you know my daughter but I raised her and educated her with the most elevated values.

E - I’m a public accountant. I worked 22 years at Productos Corena. Humb recognizes it as the business of the Family Mallorga. E - Yes that’s right. They still haven’t paid my severance, but you can ask Senor Mallorga, or my neighbors, or anyone at the bank where I have my savings and not a single person will show you any dishonesty on my part. That’s how I educated my daughter, and for that reason she has an immaculate resume. She worked in the bank, and Humb remembers getting the magnificent reference from there. E - We don’t have money, but we are good people. A Padilla will never have a reason to commit a crime. I imagine that you grew this business with your own hands, for your family, and nobody should take that away from you. H- So tell me, when will Lety return? E- Precisely she is going to return this very afternoon. We flash to a very happy and lovestruck grin from Fern!! So cute!!

In the VIP lounge at the airport Lety is holding a shell in her hand. C- What happened between you two? Lety says it’s that Aldo is such a beautiful human being. He’s so lovely that I kissed him good bye. Caro is surprised that she kissed him. Lety says yes, she didn’t even think about it she just did it. C- There are few things in this life as precious as spontaneity. Also, I want to congratulate you because you listened to your heart. You are a person much more liberated, more secure. L- No I’m nothing more than myself, but with Aldo it’s easyto do these things. Caro thinks surely he’ll come to the airport to say good bye. Lety says no, I don’t think so. She unconvincingly says no, we are just friends, it’s not at the level that he would leave his things just to come for me. No, I don’t think so. Just then they announce the flight, and Caro notes that for Lety, that they need to start boarding. Lety gets up and anxiously lingers and looks around the lobby, but turns and goes toward the door to get on the plane.

Just then Aldo runs up desperate with a box in his hand, but alas, he misses Lety. Hmm, the first time he seems to have had bad karma with her. Wonder if that is meant as a foreshadow!! He begs the security guard to let him pass that he has to get to a traveling person very important to him. No dice, guess this is not the place for a pay off or is Aldo above that? He sits down to open the box, which contains pieces of the sea; some sand, some shells, and a gigantic pearl in the middle of it all. Aldo tells it that it should have been on the plane with Lety. She really would have liked to have had this. This little piece of the ocean, the ocean that she loves so much. Leticia’s ocean. MY LETY!! [Again] Oh well……poor Aldo.

Back at Conceptos Erasmo and Humb are still having their heart to heart. They are so cute. I was so happy to see them getting on well. This could be a good thing for Lety and Fern one day. E -I’ll accept that you criticize my daughter, but I won’t let you accuse her of being a thief. All of this is because of your son Fernando. Humb agrees unfortunately that’s so. E -For my part, my daughter will receive a sanction too. Humb says you have to understand that this hasn’t been easy for us either. When we least expected it our business was taken away from us and the woman that had it has dissappeared! The next thing we knew we were without a business! What could we think think? E says if he knew things were left this way, he wouldn’t have let her go. Look what happened is that she thought she signed the letter that left everything in order but unfortunately that’s not how it turned out. I’ll make her respond for this to the final consequences. H- I will make sure that my son does too. I took away the presidency from him. I punished him very hard. I’ll never forgive what he has done to us. Nothing like this has happened in all the years of this business. I am very indignant. E- I know who you are and your family. I remember the building that you had in the Calle de Pinos Suaves. H- Yes that was our first location. E- That was another Mexico. The Mexico of old. Erasmo starts taking about his uncle Don Lazaro, that he was an incomparbable old man. He had a lot of money, a multimillionaire. He owned half the city, well the city of Puebla because we are Pueblans.

Fer is still listening in on the conversation and now he his holding two decorative balls in his hands. They look like melons, and well, perhaps infer something else. I’m entertaining posits on what, so comment away. Who knows. The cuartel is seen discussing the situation, discovering that Sara didn’t get any information on Lety. Sara is defensive and says she couldn’t ask with the toad of the Oxigenada present. Fer is excited because he hears they are talking about the story of Tio Lazaro! Don Fernando comes over to the cackling cuartel and slams down his hand on the desk. He repeats Echo, Echo, he asks them if they noticed there is an echo up here in the dome at Conceptos. The cuartel is a little confused. He asked them what they are doing. The say that they have a problem and Lola repeats her mantra that one is never finished, never finished. They say they have a problem. He says, you’re not gossiping? They of course say no. He also tells them to get to work. He walks away, but returns to see again if they hear the Echo.

Fer then returns to the meeting where Ariel is asking if they have the necessary elements to proceed against Lety. Marcia asks what is happening with his Papa he says nothing, they are just talking in a civilized manner. Omar asks what the subject is and Fer says the business. He tells Omar that that old man doesn’t know about what happened between him and Lety.

Humb says it’s been a pleasure to meet you. Erasmo agrees and says that there are very few men like them left anymore. These times are very difficult for men like us. The new generation has no scruples. H -The youth of today go around with no principles. Sins now aren’t sins. The ethics are incomprehensible. E - It’s because the people are corrupt. They have to raise a hand to those children! If we were in charge of these two kids, none of this would have happened. Remember the devil is a pig, worst of all he has no class. H - All this means that we have to demonstrate to and educate our children in this society, and the job is never finished. And so on…..

E - This afternoon a lawyer will come on behalf of my daughter to correct everything. But promise me this, that you will put yourself at the head of this affair, I completely trust you. H- Don’t worry Don Erasmo. I will take charge of everything. E - I would like to invite you to my house to meet my wife and to talk about the lost Mexico. Humb would like that and promises to find time in his calender to go with Erasmo. E - You take care of everything, you personally. Humb says yes, trust me I will take your words into account.

When he goes out, he is assaulted by the cuartel for news of Lety. Erasmo says that Leti won’t set a foot back in this business for sure and he doesn’t want to talk about it. They wonder what did Lety do that was so bad that her father doesn’t want her back here?

Humb goes back in. Tere- My love, what did that guy tell you? Humb says we cleared up many things. I think we really haven’t been the victims of a war of nerves, even less of a robbery attempt. We aren’t going forward against Lety. He says he came to an understanding with Don Padilla, and they are not going to proceed with the criminal case. Now we no longer need these lawyers. Lety’s lawyers will be here this afternoon to start with the steps to return us with the business. Ariel cynically says, so you still trust these people? Humb says yes, we are going to handle this matter completely amongst ourselves because I can completely trust that gentleman. [Alright Robopop!!!! You did something admirable for a change!!!] Marcia frantically asks how that is going to happen if Lety is still missing? Humb says well she’s coming back this afternoon! Marcia looks bugged; Fer looks at her then looks conflicted.

In the airplane Lety tells Caro: Aldo, also, is in the past now, and they are waiting for me at Conceptos and everything that implies. C- Yes, but now you are a new Lety, more sure of herself, and more valiant in the face of situations that come your way. Hopefully you are right. The closer we get to Mexico City, the more anxiety is getting the best of me. Caro tells her not to get anxious. Let things happen first then later worry about figuring out the resolutions. Calm down.

Tere asks, ok but when will she be here? Humb says that her lawyers will be here this afternoon so it’s not necessary that she even shows up for now. So let’s look at the financial statement to try and figure out how we are going to pay these debts.

Ariel says just a minute, Humb, you really think it’s that easy to get the business back? He affirmatively says yes. Fer looks with satisfied glee at Ariel. So there!

At Casa Padilla, Julieta is still icing Tomas’s hand. She asks how Lety’s return is going to go. Tomas doesn’t know. She tells him to sit down and maybe have some soup. Tomas decides to play a martyr and refuse everything. T says he’s only there so that her daughter and her husband can put in order this issue. Tomas denies hunger, he only has dignity as he sucks down the mushroom soup! She says then you don’t want some carne asada with eggs sunny side up. He says he’s only going to eat a little of this as a final goodbye.

Erasmo is back and asks if Lety came home. Julieta tells him to sit and eat. Tomas pretends not to be hungry and that he doesn’t want anything. Erasmo gives in and tells him to sit, that they have to talk.

The cuartel rehashes everything upset that they still don’t know anything and once again Lola says one never finishes, never finishes. The drunk abogados show up (they decidely appear un-drunk, however). Abitchia turns it on thick and rudely tells them that Fernando is in a meeting and can’t be interrupted. She tells them to leave and come back another day. The lawyers wisely decide not to deal with her anymore and start to wander taking note that all of this great business is Lety’s now. Alicia finally clues in and gets up to go announce them.

Back at the house Don Erasmo and Tomas are still having a pissing contest over eating. You know Tomas won’t win Moty is trying to get in on it too. Julieta reminds E that Tomas isn’t eating because he was offended by Erasmo telling him to leave. Erasmo tells him wasting food is a sin. Don’t be irrespectful Tomas, if you don’t want to eat it, leave it. Are you forcing me to eat? Yes, if that’s necessary. Erasmo feeds him. He says ok, but only the soup and maybe half of the meat, and maybe half of a potato and maybe half….SO where were you Erasmo? IN CONCEPTOS Tomas and Julieta are impactados and nearly choke on their soup!!

Ok, I can't contain myself about this. I stumbled upon an article from Vanguardia dated 12/27 that says an interview given by Jaime Camil and Angelica Vale on 12/23 to Hola magazine that will be published soon breaks the story that they have fallen in love in real life and have hidden a relationship for approximately six months, surprising everyone, the mom, the producer, etc. I only found this one article and have nothing else to confirm it with, so I'm dying to know if it's really true!!!!!! When I find what I read, I'll post it soon. How wonderful that would be!!! I would love to see them together!!! If anyone else has heard more on this, do share!!! I hope we don't have to wait for Cristina to find out!!! I'm still in a little shock at discovering Luigi is marrying and has a baby with Fer's sister!! Oh my!

Introducing myself, again... :)

Hi Everyone!

My name is Ruth. It's been a while since I was on the site regularly... I used to re-cap for Melinama way back when Alborada was on (oh how I miss that novela). Well I've missed it so much around here I thought I'd offer to help out again... Soooo, I'm gonna sub for Jean's re-cap of Mundo of Fieras on Wednesdays for as long as she needs me to do it.

A bit about me - I'm a student at the University of Washington majoring in Spanish and History. I'm also a wife and mom, I have three daughters (20, 11 & almost 5) a grandson and a grandbaby on the way. I'll warn y'all, I understand a lot of Spanish but I'm far from fluent... I'll make mistakes from time to time, hopefully not too many, but bear with me I'm still learnin'. I love Spanish, it's one of my passions because it's so beautiful, flows so nicely and is really cool (is that a good reason? I hope so, lol)...

It's good to be bloggin' again and I'm really glad to be back at Caray, Caray!

Besos,

Ruth
