Acorralada #68 Thursday 4/19/07 Let the drunken wallowing continue . . .
We are back to Emilio's apartment, where the loony Camila is standing in a bucket of ice in her undies and the weird swami is back casting her spell. I missed whatever was going on with this yesterday. She wants 1000 dollars, and Camila and Silva say she told them the price was only $500. She says there's inflation, and besides, she has six children. If you don't pay, I will undo the work I have done. I must say that I can't give much time to recapping this nonsensical part of the story. Silvia then asks if the swami can grow hair. Of course, she says. I can give you the hair of samson. But it will be $5,000. Silvia decides to remain a baldy.
Max comes back to the homeless shelter. Debora (FM again) says she smells Camila's perfume. Max tells her to calm down. She forbids him to be with Camila, as she's his wife. He reminds her that he caught her cheating with Andres. Camila saw them at the party. He says he's getting a lawyer and he doesn't love her.
Back in the jungle, the group is fighting about whether to go back to the plane or push forward to the manicomio. There's something about how the pilot is missing, so he will have gone off and will come back for them.
Caramelo and Fedora talk. Fedora can't believe Paco married Octavia after only one day.
Yolanda tries to stop Max from going to stay with Camila. She says Diana will return. Larry also says he should wait for her to return.
Debora calls Camila. Camila tells "Marfil" to open her eyes.
Bruno asks Octave if she really loves her new husband. She says yes, but that she also married him to get revenge on Fedora. Fedora has left the Irascibles with nothing.
Caramelo comes in. Octave's vinyl outfit now looks like a crumpled trash bag.
Octave says she's duena of her new small house, and Caramelo must turn in her keys.
Max comes back to Iggy's apartment. (Don't they all wonder where Iggy is?) Silvia seems excited, but he says don't worry he's not accustomed to walking around nude. (But for us the audience, we got treated to a lingering closeup of the bulging biceps yesterday. I think David Zepeda looks like a wax dummy.)
Camila comes out and she's thrilled to see Max. He brought his bags. She tells Silvia to vanish.
He says he can't stand Marfil. The last thing he wants is a romance at this time. She then thought bubbles that she will make him want her. In her arms he will forget Diana.
Octave and Caramelo continue fighting. Paco comes in, and Octave plays nice. She was just trying to get Caramelo to move home.
Paco, or how he should now be known, Big Lunkhead, tells Caramelo that Octave is not bad--she just wants to win her over.
O smirks and drops the keys. What a pity. Bruno smiles.
This is Bruno, she says. She has come to be my companion. The pretension of Octave having a lady's maid in the barrio is very Blanche Dubois, I think.
Yolanda is meeting with Rene again. She laments how sad the family's predicament is now. Maxi is divorcing, Larry is suffering, and Paola has married an MDH. She cries and he holds her in his arms.
Back in the jungle, the fearsome foursome are still fighting. They have not had any water for hours. Diana still wants to go back to the plane, but Iggy doesn't because if rescued, he and Andres will go to prison for life. Better to go to the manicomio.
Lala, Diego and Nancy fill time by saying there is no news of Diana.
In the office, Fedora is getting over her latest hangover. She has no head for work--just for Diana. She puts Emilio and Gaby in charge and goes home.
Emilio says that Larry is really suffering.
Cut to the sufferer jogging shirtless on the boardwalk!
He meets Rene. They rehash the usual. It's my fault. I love her, Kiki is trash.
Bruno and Paco speak about Octave. Octave is a saint, Bruno tells him. She always spoke well of Fedora. Then she giggles about how easy it is to fool men (varones).
Max and Camila are talking. Maxi is dressed for a job interview in what else but a new ugly sweater. He says that after the interview he will go to the mansion to see if there is news. (of course phones don't work.) (and by the way, how is Max getting all these interviews.)
After he leaves, Camila exults again in her new plan to be the one to tell Max that Diana's baby is his, thereby earning his eternal love.
Caramelo is trying to get Gaviota to stop drinking. She is really blotto now. She is also wearing that black sheath dress with the white flower that she wore to defend Diana at the trial. Perhaps this is meant as a symbol by the writers. Diego whines about the kidnappers. He thinks it's odd that no one has contacted them.
Octave laughs with Bruno at what Bruno told Paco. He's crazy in love with me, she bubbles. Paco is going to pay his employees at the bar. Bruno says he's eating out of Octave's hand.
Gaby dials the phone and gets Larry's cell on the beach. Rene picks up and calls Larry over.
In the jungle the foursome continue to fight. These jungle scenes are really boring and repetitive.
Yolanda and Bruno are catching up. Bruno says that Octavia has offered her a position as a bootlicker, and she is very grateful. Bruno wants to know if her Marfil has asked about her. No. Octave comes out in a new black halter, not vinyl. Yolanda tells her that the beach did her a lot of good. Bruno stands in the background with her best humble hangdog look.
More running around in the jungle. The girls are essentially being chased at gunpoint by the boys.
Paola telling Rene that she has a terrible secret, and if her brothers knew they would kill Pancho.
Yolanda wants to know when Octave is going to tell Paco about Paola. Never--and neither will I be guilty of bringing down Fedora. She doesn't really explain this, but you figure it's another nutty revenge plan.
Back to Paola and Rene. She says Paco is married. Yeah, to you. No, silly. He's married to someone else. A girl called Caramelo. So he's a bigamist. He'll go to prison. How can you defend this guy? I love him.
Rene advises her to dump him.
No, she shouts. I hate that Caramelo with all my fuerzas.
Lala wonders why Caramelo is so sad, after all now she can live in the mansion. She says she prefers the humble home she has with Pancho. Forget him, says Lala. She's very quick to call her son trash. She then reminds Caramelo that Paola is also a victim. Lala has a stupid way of rubbing this fact in all the time. This always brings on the waterworks.
More filler time in the jungle.
Diego now is taking his turn in getting Fedora to stop getting plastered. Max comes in and asks for news of Diana. Diego tells him to get out as usual. It's beginning to seem as if Diego is phoning in those repetitive lines. His "largates" are getting weaker. Fedora staggers away and orders Nancy to bring another bottle of Jack Daniels or whatever she's drinking.
Paola calls Andres for drugs. No answer, of course.
Caramelo comes in. Paola tells her to multiply by zero. Caramelo laughs at this phrase. There ensues a bitch fest. Paola calls Caramelo a super naca. Caramleo says she is better educated than Paola because her papa taught her not to steal husbands. Enter said husband!
What are you doing here, Caramelito? he says. Paola tells him not to call her that. Caramelo says she has a right to be there. Isn't it Lala's house? You're her son, and I'm your wife, your only valid wife. There's a fight. The bell rings. Enter Octave!
Paco enters the bedroom of Fedora. In her drunken stupor, she says: Oh, you've come to see the fruit of your betrayal. No, I've come to ask you to forgive me. They stare at each other as the credits roll.

Zorro-Friday, April 20, 2007: Fernando Sanchez makes a deal with God and Diego doesn’t know his name
Out in wide open spaces Esme, SK, Hermes, and Renzo are walking to where the gypsy men are loading the spear type weapons into a wagon. Not for nothing but aren’t they a little afraid that they are going to get caught? Anyway SK is worried she doesn’t like seeing the gypsies geared up for war when the gypsy people are supposed to be happy, joyful, etc. Renzo tells SK that they are doing it for her, when she returns to Spain to reclaim her rights and the crown stops chasing them then they will go back to the happy go lucky people they used to be. SK promises to have everything that was stolen from them returned back. Renzo then recognizes the danger being out in the open and he escorts Esme elsewhere while SK and Hermes stay behind. Hermes tells SK he’s sorry he doubted her story when they were imprisoned (that would explain the rolling eyes and sarcastic tone but I guess we can’t blame him I mean it does sound a little far fetched). SK seems shocked by the confession but promises to compensate him for being with her and comforting her when everything is cleared up, even if he thought she was crazy. They share a laugh, aww.
Meanwhile Piza is at the prison locking up Dolores who is claiming its an injustice. Obviously Dol but don’t bother pleading and crying, Piza is like Emiliooo from Duelo, wooden. Dol in her funny accent calls Montero a demon (you ever paid attention to it, her Ds sound like Ls, demonio sounds like lemonio, jejeje) and prays for the de la Vegas. We hear some shushing and hey SAM is sharing her cell (I guess they are low in prison cells in el Callao). SAM tells Dol don’t bother the guards are stubborn as his mule and gives her his hanky. I like SAM, I want him to have Monty’s job. SAM tells Dol how he got into the slammer and Dol wants to know what’s going on in the world. SAM puts his military coat over Dol and tells Dol about the SK escape plan, but includes the de la Vegas. Dol says they had nothing to do with it (technically she’s right, Diego was not around and Alej was meeting with White Buffalo) but SAM tells her at this point who cares what’s true. Monty has always used whatever reason to go after the de la Vegas and this one is perfect.
FS is talking to a sleeping wounded MP. He tells her she can’t leave him alone, he won’t permit it. He tells God that he can’t take her. He asks God if he’s being punished and offers God all he has and all he is but to save his Maria Pia. FS cries and let me you, I want to cry too. I kinda want God to hear his prayer and I want his plea to be true. We shall see.
Meanwhile Alej and Yumi are following the hacienda worker with the giant sombrero. Everybody is hiding behind a tree. Well the worker is, Alej (who apparently donned a Poncho at some point) and Yumi are just standing there like sitting err standing ducks while we get a nice look of various guards around the hacienda. What did they send the whole army here, and why is everyone gathered around in the front of the hacienda, geez, like the Zorro version of a SWAT team or something. Bern sneaks up to them and signs to Alej what we already know, Monty has the hacienda surrounded and has imprisoned Dol and some workers. I gotta say I like the sign he used for Monty, almost like pulling a fake beard on his chin, not sure how this translates as Monty but its funny that Alej knew who Bern was talking about. Alej asks Bern about Dena, Mangle and Diego but Bern doesn’t know. Alej looks worried and tells Bern to accompany him and he’s going to tell him what’s going on.
Meanwhile MP is just waking up and trying to talk. FS asks her to not exert herself. FS adjusts his eye patch (considering this is like the third time I have seen him do this, I gotta wonder if the prop guys tightened the eye patch for the last guy who wore it and now its cutting off Peniche’s circulation and if this is the case how many eye patches does Telemundo keep on hand only one? Or does it belong on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean and Telemundo is just borrowing it?). FS tells MP that he’s sorry, forgive him he acted out of craziness seeing love snatched from his hands. MP says nothing matters, she feels like she’s dying. FS tells she won’t die and she’ll live and he’ll learn to live without her. There’s a lot of crying and sadness and FS tells her she has to live because FS is giving himself up to God. I’m impactada at this revelation. FS begs MP not to die.
Back to where gypsies are gathered. Renzo tells Esme they are going to Padre Tomas and Esme likes the idea and she’s sure PT will help them a lot. Renzo apologizes for not divulging this part of the plan sooner but everything happened so fast. Esme says its everything is Olmos’s fault, he convinced her that he was on the good side and she feel for it. SK says don’t bother with it, its in the past and the important thing is getting through this. Esme only worry is that Diego is not with her and she didn’t even get to say goodbye to him. SK thinks it’s a bad idea to go with her. Esme tells her mom that’s decision is made and she will not leave her alone.
PT puts a passed out Diego in bed and puts the blankets on him. PT puts warm compresses on his head while PT laments the memory loss and that he doesn’t know he is Zorro. PT tells a sleeping Diego he has to get better, his health and the lives of many others is in danger and everybody needs Zorro.
Cue Amor Gitano
Cut to the Cardinal talking to some guy cloaked in purple, a Padre Aaron. Padre Aaron tells the Cardinal that he was able to get message so quick because he was in Mexico and to not call him Padre, cuz while he’s authorized by Vatican to do exorcisms but he’s not a consecrated priest, HUH!!???? Okay I am not familiar with Vatican rules and all that but I would think in order to be approved by Vatican for exorcisms you would have to be consecrated. Cardinal expresses this same thought, well not in my words but you get the drift. Aaron says he and demons know each other from a while back (okay I am not comfortable with this story part, exorcism okay but people talking about demons like this not so much) because he was touched by him and that’s why he can’t take the priestly vows. Cardinal looks like he’s thinking oh boy this is a fine kettle of fish but tells Hermano Aaron about Nutty and Aaron wants to see her eyes to confirm possession
We go back to Camba singing to Nutty and enter Cardinal and Aaron. Hey where did Camba go? Nutty is terrified and recoiling on the bed and I would be too if some guy who isn’t a priest walked in to perform an exorcism. Cardinal tells Nutty not to worry Aaaron is here to help her. Nutty looks like she’s having a killer headache and Aaron says if she’s possessed the evil one will make himself known. Aaron tells Cardinal to pray and not to stop no matter what. Aaron tells Nutty that he’s there to free her and pulls back his cowl and he looks freaky, one eye is mad droopy. Aaron looks at Nutty weird like he knows her and Nutty looks back at him impactada before letting out a scream.
Back to MP and FS. FS is kissing MP’s hand when Monty walks in. Monty tells FS he spoke with Agapito and he’s sorry for what’s happened. FS adjusts his eye patch again (should we count the eye patch adjusts as well as ulcers?) and asks want he wants. Monty tells FS what happened in the prison and they took Sara Kali. FS tells Monty that’s his problem, that’s why he pays him, find her. Monty is worried about getting buried alive by the crown if they find out. Monty then tells FS about Alej being involved and his mysterious disappearance including Esme. FS seems a little surprised about Esme but tells Monty to leave him alone, he’s got bigger fish to fry. God is paying him back for his sins. Monty doesn’t think his problems are bigger but to prove his point FS turns around and gives him the evil eye and tells him to LEAVE!
Piza who was waiting for Monty asks what happened. Monty tells him FS told him, you’re on your own. Piza finds this hard to believe but Monty tells him that FS knows his goose is cooked but is more interested in MP than in Sara Kali and is leaving us out to dry. Monty wants her found and Piza tells him his men on it and even put the word out to the mercenaries. Monty likes this idea and Piza tells him sometimes bounty hunters (cazarrecompensas) work better than the authorities. Monty tells Piza that he could care less if Esme and SK are killed, they are worth more dead than alive. I hate him and I remember reading a post to the actor that said something like, Cmndr Montero I hate you and I want to kill you myself. I think that’s a sign of a good villan.
Back in the open spaces, the carriage with Esme and company stops when they meet up with two dudes on horseback. Esme wants to know whats up. Renzo tells Esme that there are bounty hunters out there (how did he know this, are they wearing name tags, Hello my name is bounty hunter or cazarrecompensas?). Hermes asks Renzo what needs to be done, he’ll fight if necessary, way to go Hermes! Renzo tells everyone not to worry and Esme tells him to be careful. Renzo asks them what’s up? BH 1 (he’s the one with the hat) points them out as a gypsies and if he knows Monty is looking for a very important woman, a rebel who says she is Queen of the gypsies who escaped with her daughter. Esme who is listening is impactada. Renzo and Javier (?) laugh and play it off, like Monty is off his rocker and is only saying that to exterminate them but BH isn’t buying it and says that maybe the Queen and daughter in the wagon. Esme is again impactada, this time commercial impactada.
Back from commercial, you ever notice that whoever is shown when the novela comes back is who gets the next scene. We saw Alej and guess whose in the scene. I guess Bern has just finished tell him that Olmos is behind everything cuz Alej says just this. Alej wonders why Olmos would want to kill SK. Bern signs something and then does his imitation of an eye patch. Alej of course deduces FS had something to do with it. Yumi tells Alej I told you so about FS and Alej figures that Monty has declared martial law and no lots of innocent men’s lives are in danger. The worker with the huge sombrero, WHS (whatever) says that something needs to be done and Alej’s military mode kicks into action. Alej is going to need the men who escaped the hacienda to get together and confront Monty’s men. Also, we are gonna need firearms and water but wait the water and firearms are in the hacienda, okay new plan. Bern then interrupts and signs something that makes Alej say that Bern knows the hacienda better than anyone (that he knows another way in?). Yumi wants to go in too, she can move like an animal get anything necessary.
Mangle is dressed and ready to exit but is detained by Monty’s guards who says nobody in or out. Mangle tells them surely not the Gov’s daughter too?, You know I am sooo tired of that line, Gov’s whatever. I think that’s not scoring any points with anybody apparently being Gov’s anything has no perks. I have yet to see somebody allow something to the Gov’s relative. The guard tells Mangle that they are waiting for the de la Vegas. Mangle threatens them if they harm Diego and then asks what Monty said about her. The guards say it doesn’t concern her so she takes that as a cue to leave and threatens the guards to no touch her, else she will have Monty make them pay.
Back to FS and MP and in walks Dena. Dean wants to know what FS did with MP. FS says he killed her, he killed the love of his life.
Back to Renzo and the Bounty Hunters. Bounty Hunter # 1 wants to look into carriage, no harm right? Renzo says its just his wife and kid sleeping. BH 1 tells Renzo he is in position to give orders and they point a gun at him and they all go to the carriage. Meanwhile Javier goes for the knife in his boot and is about to slice the throat of BH # 2. Renzo then pulls out his knife and points it at BH # 1, not for nothing but I don’t think Renzo’s itty bitty knife is going to do much against BH #1s pistol but Renzo is brave, stupid but brave. BH #1 advises that they should drop their weapons and BH # 2 escapes from Javier’s grip and pulls out his pistol. Esme explains the situation to SK and Hermes.
Back to Diego in the Batcave with PT. Diego is waking up and judging by the worried look, I take it he’s memory is still out to lunch. PT tells Diego not to worry and identifies himself again. I guess because he is not is his priest robes, PT thinks Diego doesn’t recognize him and tells him so. Diego is saying nothing but by his cute puppy dog eyes, the answer is no, robes or no robes the name Padre Tomas doesn’t ring a bell and neither does his name. PT tells Diego that he got really mean bump to the head and lost his memory and its temporary he’ll get better real soon. Diego is just looking at PT all sad like, like he’s getting a death sentence. PT then asks Diego if he’s going to trust him and gives his him hand. Diego nods but doesn’t give his hand. PT tells Diego to rest and tucks him in again.
Back to Renzo and BHs. Renzo says there’s a better way to handle this squirmish. BH says the best way is for them to look into carriage. BH yells into the carriage that they are armed. Javier tells BHs they are a peaceful folk but if necessary will defend themselves. The BHs don’t care they want to see in carriage. Hermes says he’ll go out and distract them but Esme says no, she’ll go she’s the Gov’s daughter (here we go again with this) and Monty’s wife (hello Monty prefers you dead). SK begs Esme not to go (listen to your mother Esme!) but Esme says she has to and will meet up with them at the mission. SK is happy to have a daughter like her and Esme sneaks out and runs off. Renzo and Javier drop their knives. BH is distracted noticing Esme run off and then Renzo gets the upper hand and starts punching him.
Back to the de la Vegas where Bern and Yumi are about to sneak in while guards backs are turn.
Renzo & Javier finishing tying up the Bounty Hunters. Renzo tells SK & Hermes to go on ahead, he’s going to find Esme. SK says no she’s staying until they bring back Esme. Renzo says that they can’t stay there its dangerous. SK is refusing to budge until she knows Esme is okay (okay now we know where Esme gets it, she is her mom’s daughter). Renzo goes off and agrees with Javier about a meeting place. Hermes tells SK not to worry everything will be fine.
Bern and Yumi sneak to another part of the hacienda. Bern takes out a funny looking wooden cockroach thing from Yumi’s pouch and winds it up. While the guard is distracted with squashing it and looking pretty pleased with himself (apparently it takes very little to distract these guards, when have you ever seen a wooden bug?), Bern and Yumi make a dash into the hacienda.
Renzo is running screaming out her name, way to go Renzo just scream and let people know where you are. He hears some footsteps, hides and then lunges at the intruder. Lo and behold its Laisha. Laisha tells Renzo Piza’s message. Laisha tells Renzo that if the queen isn’t returned, he’s going to kill the gypsy women. Renzo is impactado.
Esme is running and running and by the way how is she running so fast without tripping over that dress? Esme can’t belive she isnt’ being chased by the BHs. She hears some horses and runs off again and falls/ducks behind some greenery. Its Monty’s guards doing a search one of them mounts off and sees something. They go to look and it’s part of Esme’s dress. Esme is impactada and freaking out.
We come back from commercial with Piza and Cat in bed on her side. Piza is kissing her face trying to get something started but it’s a no go. Oops my bad, Piza is angry because tonight was different than before. Cat tells him she’s worried. Piza tells her don’t be, they we’ll get the prisoner, trap Zorro and everything will go back to normal even her marriage. Cat doesn’t like being married to a prisoner (this from a women having an extra marital affair with Piza?). Piza doubts Diego is going to escape with Esme out of town. Cat doesn’t doubt it, she’s noticed that’s capeable of a lot, she says he’s bold and starts getting dreamy eyed. Piza starts getting a little green but Cat says she just known Diego for years. Cat then asks about Tobi’s release. Piza says he’s going to visit him and if he’s smart he will get out and if not, he’ll decide. Cat gets mad and Piza yells back that Tobi is going to make contact with Zorro.
Tobi is totally against the idea of having his head cut off by Zorro. In fact Tobi is upset because when FFM accused Tobi of being Zorro he was promptly arrested and treated like a criminal. Piza said well we had to be sure (yeah right) but this plan is foolproof considering they are almost certain Zorro is dead. Piza tells about Zorro’s appearance in the prison and now they need the people to hate Zorro. Tobi doesn’t understand why if they think Zorro is dead. Piza tells them they have to get the people to despise Zorro by making Zorro the worse bandit ever. I am watching Tobi and damn does he have deep dimples, they look like bullet holes. I wonder if he ever has kids with Cat will they be born with those sockets. Tobi worries about being confused with Zorro but Piza tells him don’t worry the guards know truth. Tobi being sensible for once says no like a gazillion times. Piza threatens him with being locked up for ever if he doesn’t agree. Tobi capiches.
Back to MP, FS and Dena. Dena wants to be alone with MP but FS says no. Dena then rehashes everything that has happened and how its incited Monty’s revenge on the people and FS is completely destroyed. Dena begs him to leave, not only has he finished with MP’s life but everybody else. FS stroked MP’s hair one last time and leaves a very tearful scene.
Renzo brings Laisha to the meeting spot with Javier. Renzo informs Javier about Piza’s message. They have to do something and SK agrees. Perhaps it woulda been better not to resuce her. Hermes says never say that. Renzo is positive they can get the women out somehow but SK says Monty is evil and would figure out a very cruel way to make gypsies suffer. No, she’s going to turn herself in.
Back to the guards and Esme. The guards discuss what the piece of fabric means and because they aren’t very bright, they assume that the dress has been there various days judging by how dirty it is. The guards decide to leave maybe Piza needs them but of course not before rehashing Zorro’s mortal wound while Esme listens in. One of the guard says that maybe Zorro has made a deal with the devil so not even a bullet penetrates him. Another guard says no way, Zorro is human and perhaps will never be s seen again and they all ride off. Esme can’t believe Diego may be dead.
Bern gets Padre Tomas up to speed about Alej’s plan. Padre Tomas can’t believe Alej would go against Monty’s men. PT can’t believe what’s happened and now Diego has amnesia. Bern can’t believe it and shows it hitting a wall and pulling out his hair. Padre Tomas tells Bern to go with Alej and he’ll stay with Diego. He’s also going to talk to the brotherhood, they are the only ones who can help them. Bern and Yumi reunite and Yumi is packing a sword into a sack (won’t it break?) and Bern has a pistol? I sure hope Yumi has more than one sword in that sack cuz there are more than two guards guarding the place. Yumi tells Bern to lets move before the guards know they are there and head off.
Aaron is informing the nuns in training about him being there to see if Nutty’s problems are from God’s world or the kingdom of darkness. Let me interject here, if Nutty is possessed okay that comes from dark forces but if Nutty is mentally sick I’m not sure how disease would come from God, so this logic confuses me. Aaron tells the nuns that he has come to the conclusion that Nutty is inhabited by the evil one and he has to perform an exorcism and he’s going to need all their help. Okay again I have to object, I would think an exorcism would best be left to professionals unless you want to cause irreparable harm to both the exorcist and the exorcised. The Nuns are impactadas and afraid that the demons will possess them. Aaron says don’t worry he’ll make sure that don’t happen. He asks them to help him as an act of faith and love. The nuns in training agree to help and are off to find their rosaries. Aaron looks at them surprised that they fell for it or worried about the ordeal one of those.
Mangle goes to the Moncada residence and calls for FS and Dena and pissed because nobody answered. A maid tells Mangle that FS arrived a short while ago but he is locked in his studio. Mangle says of course right in the middle of a time when he should be controlling this chaos. The maid asks Mangle not to go, he doesn’t want to be disturbed. The maid tells Mangle FS didn’t look well but Mangle tells her to shut up and goes to find him. Oh boy, FS is about to kill himself, he has the pistol pointed at his chin when Mangle walks in and screams no Daddy no.
Back to Esme who guesses that the gypsies made it to the mission and starts running. We get scenery with lots of trees instead of the greenery. She trips and who should ride up but Piza. They state each other into the end credits.

Destilando Amor, 04/20/07: Thirsting in the Desert.......
James tells Rod that their detective is putting out fliers with Gavi's picture to all the farmers in all the nearby towns asking for information. He's also contacting area radio stations. Rod says the cost does not matter. He wants his Gaviota.
Gavi goes back down to Margarita at Reception to explain the botched appointment. Margarita tries to console her but then sees Aaron walking through the lobby with a few other businessmen on their way out of the building. He is busily speaking into a cellphone as Margarita runs over to get his attention, but he refuses to stop for her and continues out of the building. He does not notice Gavi at all. Margarita then suggests Gavi should wait for him to return. While waiting, Gavi starts to chat with her about Rodrigo.
Gavi says she's heard talk of Rodrigo Montalvo, the cousin. Margarita tells her what she knows: that scandal doesn't follow him around like it does with Aaron, that he is aparrently happily married and surely very soon his wife will be expecting their child.
Meanwhile, Isa calls up Sofia to tell her that last night was the first time that her brother actually slept in the same bed as she, and that (even though nothing sexual happened between them) she is certain that very soon she'll succeed in seducing him.
In the meantime, our daffy duo, Rod and James, are going over to the agave farm of craggy Sr. Melitón to make an offer to buy his agave harvest. (Did I read that right? They actually named his place "Dry Gulch???") While there, Meliton's dead wife's niece, Acacia, reluctantly waits on the three of them, bringing out a tray of tequila.
James is immediately taken with the meek, young Acacia. (Did I emphasize the word "young" here?) It is obvious that he cannot keep his eyes off her. (Sofia, you may have been right about leaving James after all.) The entire time Melitón is loud and abusive with her. She is abnormally quiet and looks down at her feet continuously, as if she'd prefer the proverbial ground to swallow her whole. Melitón explains that she's his only "companion" there now that his wife is dead and gone.
James makes the mistake of calling her a beautiful woman. Melitón tells him boys are not to make such flirtatious remarks with the intention of bringing his niece to rot and ruin. So Rod asks him what school does she attend around there. (Broad hint, Ja-mes.) When questioned he says there is too much for her to do around the place to be allowed to go to school.
Rod offers to best any other bid for Melitón's current crop of agave and they seal the deal with tequila. On their way out a bit later, James tells Rod that the girl holds a mysterious attraction for him, and feels this is what Rod must have felt for Gaviota. Rod tells him she is too young, but James figures she's at least 17 or 18. Rod says that's precisely his point. (James may be 30-ish, but he does think and act like he's 17 a great deal of the time. That kind of naivete is acceptable up to a point. So now I am thinking that with all the young adult women around there, he has to fixate on a minor? Sorry, but is this evidence of some sort of cultural divide I am not worldly enough to appreciate or what?)
James says it doesn't matter. She is like an angel and he feels the need to protect her. (Uh-oh! There is that word "protec-tor" again.) She has awakened goodly desires and stolen his heart. Rod is not the only one who might be caught up in an "impossible love". At that, Rod pretty much switches from Mr. Morally Discriminate and turns into Mr. Morally Equivalent agreeing that yes, it is the same way that Gavi stole his [heart]. (I say, not quite, stud-bud. Gavi, according to the storyline, is supposedly well past the age of majority. -Slap!! Thwack!!)
Gavi, driven in her quest to become a Montalvo Corporation employee, goes back to see Genoveva to ask for another appointment. However, Geneveva rudely says no and when Gavi insists, she pulls out the little tape recorder and plays the portion where Aaron's telling Elvira to throw her out. Gavi gets the message both literally as well as figuratively and gives up. (Good, because this was becoming painfully embarrassing to watch her so dangerously driven and stooping to this pitiful level.)
Meanwhile, Clarita calls to speak with Gavi while Flavia is at the reception desk, covering for the awol Gavi, as Nancy is gone to lunch. Flavia tricks Clarita by telling her that Gaviota went to see the doctor again. When Clarita is surprised to hear this and asks what's wrong with her daughter, Flavia screams back, "If you don't know then how should I?" and slams the phone down.
When Gavi returns to work more than a little bit late, she's given an envelope that Flavia has left for her. The letter inside tells her she's been fired. Flavia comes by to gloat and tell her that she shouldn't think now she can go running off to Max because he's been transferred out (per his own request) and now Flavia is the hotel's new manager!
Minnie calls Genoveva to check up on her husband's activities. Genoveva tells her about the run in with "Mariana Franco Villareal" who had been insisting on the pretext of seeing him about hiring her. Genoveva explains that she'd followed Minnie's instructions and used the tape recording to get rid of this pest. Additionally she informed Security to stop her if she tries entering the building again. Minnie smiles like the cheshire cat.
Gavi gets home and has to explain to Clarita that she was fired from her job and Montalvo Corporation blew her off. Clara gets to say "I told you so" a hundred different ways. They now haven't any money left, not even to pay the rent. Clarita suggests she goes back to apologize to Sr. Vallejo. Gavi explains how he unfortunately had transferred to a different hotel after she turned down his marriage proposal because she was still in love with Rod. Clarita goes wild with frustration. "You just had to dig your heels in over this Montalvo thing! All you ever wanted was to meet up with Rodrigo Montalvo again!" She stomps out of the apartment in a huff.
Back at the hacienda, San Juana tells Hilario she wants him to consider marrying her. He tells her that he wants to get some land and animals first and that will take him a while, so marriage isn't in his immediate future. She says well, if he doesn't marry her she will find someone just as "charming" who will marry her.
That evening Rod returns to the hacienda after a day of deal-making and mentions to Isa while up in the bedroom that he's arranging for financing to help her dad and then she'll see he'll be out of this fix soon enough. Then he says he's going to get cleaned up. Isa suggests he relax in the tub in there instead. Rod agrees.
When he comes out only wrapped in his bath towel, she is waiting in her red dressing gown with a prepared dinner tray. Hot Rod is a little embarrassed to be seen this way. Isa smiles and cajoles him by seductively hand-feeding him a few hors d'oeuvres. She offers to get a formal paper for her father's debt but he says it isn't necessary. She is grateful and discusses her shame and embarrassment should the family ever find out about her father's financial problems. This over, she talks him into eating with her there.
First, though, Rod must put on his jammies.
Aaron argues with Minnie at dinner that night over her continuing to drink alcohol while she's pregnant after the doctor has specifically warned her against it. They eventually discuss the possibility of the baby being a girl. When Minnie says the baby's gender is out of her hands, he suggests she go to the doctor to find out if it is a boy or not. (What? Is he going to force her to abort and start over again if it isn't???)
The will stated, Aaron reminds his wife, that the child has to be a boy if they're to get their hands on the Montalvo fortune. (What's the darned hurry, anyway? Rod, at the rate he's going, is obviously not a threat. to Aaron. Although, being the alleycat that he is, Aaron cannot conceive of the idea of a one-woman-man. This simply does not exist in his universe and he probably doubts that his cousin will stay chaste much longer. Hell, I can hardly believe it!) Minnie, deprived of her drink and depressed about the 50/50 chance they'll have a girl, ends dinner with a long face.
Rod and Isa spend the rest of the evening playing (this is absolutely weird and retarded) silly children's games over wine and snacks until Rod finally says good night. (Well! Will they now or won't they?) Isa reluctantly (I guess not) enters her own bedroom and angrily throws the pillows around while Rod, aparrently feeling the emptiness of his marriage, calls out to Gavi telling her how much he needs her to come back to him.
The next day Gavi looks for work and eventually finds out that nobody wants to hire her because Flavia has been giving every prospective employer bad references. She returns home and tells Clarita the rotten news. To make matters worse, Severino, the apartment manager, bangs on their door to tell them he'll have to throw them out the next day if he doesn't get their rent money for the landlord. Gavi refuses to return to the life of a migrant worker. So, the two decide to hock Clarita's broken sewing machine and to do mending by hand and some washing and ironing to pay the rent till Gavi can find something again.
That same morning Rod is dressed and ready to leave early but Isa begs him to stay. (This is it, boys!) She lets her dressing gown drop and is in a see-through negligee that reveals our Victoria has no remaining secrets. Rod --this guy is the proverbial saint-- gets angry at her attempt. "I said stop this. I don't love you. I don't love you. " and he leaves the room.
Isa is left humiliated and incensed. (Isa, honey, you asked for it. Now, realize you got your papa his infusion of cash. Just cut your losses and agree to a separation and half of Rod's fortune. He's stupid enough not to fight you on it and would probably consider it a small price to pay just to get you out of his hair and his life once and for all!)
A bit later, Isa, still in her dressing gown, enters the kitchen for a bit of breakfast and coffee as Rod is just finishing his. "Oh, you're still here." (Finally there is some obvious smoke curling out of her ears.) Rod counters, "What are you going to do today?" "Hmmph! Getting cleaned up, getting dressed, eating, wait for you to return home, then wait for it to turn dark and go to bed again. Fun, right." Rudely he answers her, "Have a nice day. Bye." Ofelia then offers to have her come with the others to town while they do their shopping, but Isa rudely turns them down. Then it hits her, "Did you say you're all going to be gone?" "Yes."
When Gavi and her mother get to the pawnshop the owner tells them that because the machine is busted he will not give them much of anything for it. Gavi decides to give him Rod's watch instead and tells him it is a jewel and worth more than all the gold in the world to her. Clara shakes her head in disbelief.
Back at the hacienda, Isa is definitely a woman in need. She has heard the call of the wild. (At this point it is hard to believe she came undefiled to her, as yet, unused marriage bed.) She goes to the pool for a swim, and in her tiniest bikini of course. She spies Hilario cleaning the pool and remembers seeing his sexy self during his and SanJuana's little roll in the hay a while back. So Isa sneaks up behind him. He is a bit shocked to see her there and a little uncertain. (Should he or shouldn't he?) She wraps her arms around him in a sensual embrace and plants a hot kiss right on his mouth. "Don't be frightened." As for Hilario, well what's a poor boy to do?

La Fea Más Bella #258 4/20/07 Lety's spine flexes its muscles
The Wisdom of Julie (not Julieta) and RoboPop
Tomas feels abandoned by the Padillas in his moment of doubt. He wonders what sort of Aldo-like sacrifice he can make to help Alicia. He shuffles away from the Padilla home in tears.
Lety confides to her mother that she's having difficulty deciding which luscious galán to choose. My advice, Lety, is to dump both of them, take a real vacation and clear your head. But did Lety ask me? No. RoboPop hears the last few words of their conversation and confronts them with this evidence that both men are in love with Lety and Julieta was in on it all along. Lety and Julieta try to play dumb; RoboPop doesn't buy it. He says Lety has been playing two men; Lety denies this, but when RoboPop tells her the two almost started a fistfight in the street, Lety answers, "Again???"
RoboPop is disappointed and says he didn't raise Lety this way. Now he wants to know about all the things that have been happening behind his back! (Dude, RoboPop, do you really have 256 hours to listen? It'd take ten days to explain... literally!)
Julieta tries to defend Lety, but RoboPop feels that Julieta is to blame as well. He advises Lety that she should quit Conceptos and get away from both men.
(Did RoboPop just agree with me? Uh-oh, maybe I should reconsider my position.)
Julieta argues that Lety needs to stick around to help Conceptos out of its jam. RoboPop challenges them as to how Lety can do that. That's funny... just a week ago he was sure that Lety could do it. Nothing has changed since then, except he knows about this love thing now, and suddenly he has no faith in her?
Lety sits her parents down and tells RoboPop she realizes that to him, she's still a little girl who shouldn't be thinking about love. Nevertheless, she gives him the Reader's Digest Condensed Version of how great it was at first to have these men in love with her, but now it makes her nervous because she's not sure who she loves.
RoboPop takes Lety's hands and extra-raspily apologizes for not having thought about her feelings. She says they're a family, that's what matters, and it's never to late to catch up.
RoboPop says he doesn't trust "that Don Fernando." Lety gently reminds him that they're talking about HER feelings, but he reminds her that it's kind of strange for a person not to know who she loves. Lety protests that they're both so nice.
"But, alike?" RoboPop questions. Lety says no... they're very different. Aldo is very wise (I guess Lety has never read a fortune cookie before), upbeat, and honest about everything, and she likes that. But Don Fernando... he's Don Fernando! (Irmita spoke the same words a few weeks ago!)
RoboPop doesn't get what that means. The best explication Lety can come up with is that he's "tan divino." He's super-tender, he moves her with his mistakes, his confusions, his desperation, etc. She giggles in remembrance of what he's like when he's flustered. She tells RoboPop not to try to understand, because she doesn't understand it herself.
She asks her parents to stand by her and support her. They agree. Wonder if they'd still agree if she'd told them about Aurora?
The experts weigh in
In the Vortex, PM is sharing her great knowledge about men: Lety must remain with Aldo. Marcia steps off the elevator just in time to hear Lola say something about someone (Aldo? Fern? I didn't hear her mention a name) should stay with Marcia so she can continue suffering. Marcia is too lost in thought to notice. She actually stops, backs up a few steps and apologizes for not greeting them. Then she goes on to her office. The cuartel wonders why Marcia is acting so strangely; Sara snidely comments that with the airhead gone, Marcia no longer has any friends.
Back at home, Lety prepares to leave for work. She is wearing the worst outfit so far since she came back from Acapulco (it's still better than anything she wore before the Big Meeting, IMO). But first, gratuitously, they watch some TV. The Televisa guy explains again that they're looking for this Mystery Woman. Julieta says she hopes they find her soon. She'll probably be the star in some telenovela. (Standing behind them, Lety beams.) RoboPop grumps that that's how it is these days - people show up on TV, and only then do they become famous.
Lety leaves, and Julieta praises RoboPop for supporting Lety. (Moty, the little ham, muscles his way into the shot.) Julieta says she thinks Lety will probably pick Fernando. But RoboPop thinks Aldo is the man for Lety.
Filler
Aldo is on the phone trying to get a job. He says he realizes they can't pay him what he's asking, but he needs some money. (Hey, I know a woman who's out of work and homeless too - maybe he could team up with Alicia! Please???) Tomas comes into Aldo's office and awkwardly waits for Aldo to finish the call. Aldo compliments Tomas on his kickin' pink argyle sweater. Yeah, no, I'm not making that up.
Tomas nosily asks who that was on the phone. Aldo says he doesn't want to tell him just yet, for fear of jinxing it. Tomas nervously says he's got a question about women. Aldo astutely surmises that Tomas is referring to Alicia. Tomas wants to know how to win her heart.
A newly-reinstated Alicia shows up in the Vortex wearing an outfit that's the absolute negative of yesterday's: black instead of white, but still with the hat, sunglasses, etc. Sara asks why the de luto (mourning); Alicia says it's to represent her suffering, because she's lost everything. The cuartel scolds her and says she lost everything because of her poor behavior. Alicia says she hopes they never suffer a similar fate, because they could never take it. Only great stars like herself, divas, can bear such injustice.
The cuartel sarcastically voice their pity. Or maybe the pity is sincere because she has completely lost her mind. Who knows.
In the Rehash Room, Fernando wants to talk about his favorite subject - Lety. Omar, not so much. Omar thinks Fern is starting to get boring. Fern reveals that, thanks to DomensaEEN, RoboPop has figured out that they're both in love with his daughter. Omar boredly asks what he's going to do about it. He says Fern's wasting his (Omar's) time and formally suggests that Fern go to his cuchitril (dumpy little room) to figure out what to do about his complicated life. Because Omar's got lots to do. He calls Fern "gargoletito" and assures him it's an endearment.
After Fern leaves, Omar calls Caro and asks if she gave Aurora his CarvaHallmark. The answer is no. Omar thinks he will die of love.
Perhaps he should take inspiration from Marcia, who is busily typing in her office. Wonder of wonders, Alicia wants to chat. Marcia is glad to see her and says she was worried. Alicia accuses Marcia of only wanting to have her around because she's got no one else to talk to. Wow - maybe Alicia's been reading our daily comments!
Marcia tells her not to be so dramatic. Alicia says she's lost everything - all the usual stuff, and apparently now a friend. Marcia says "eh, you've got work." Alicia reveals that she also has no place to live.
Marcia reacts to this news as if Alicia just said she'd lost her pencil. She coolly says that Alicia can sleep at her place, but just for tonight. And then they'll see what to do about her situation.
Alicia unwisely wonders aloud if Marcia is under a witch's spell, to be so kind to her. Marcia's answering smile signals trouble.
O cruel symmetry!
Carolina visits Lety to tell her that Omar has been driving her crazy about Aurora. Lety wonders what's so special about her, with all those other pretty women in his life. Caro doesn't know either, but she thinks that this time, he's really in love.
Lety is skeptical. Caro shoves the card at Lety. (Is it this way in all of Mexico, or is it just at Conceptos, that nobody bothers with envelopes?) I can't make out the picture on the front, but it looks like two valentine-shaped chickens. Lety is aghast at what's written inside. "I'm telling you, he's in love," Caro says. Lety says, um no, he's written all of this stuff before, in the cards he used to give to Fern for her. She's clearly disgusted.
Caro thinks it's time to put an end to this. She says she'll just tell Omar that Aurora doesn't want to see him. Lety thinks about it and says no... tell him Aurora DOES want to see him. She's going to make him pay for all of his canalladas (vile tricks). Her Mustache of Vengeance twitches in anticipation! She vents a bit about all the pain those cards caused her, not to mention all the pain he's caused other women, and vows to give him a cucharada (spoonful) of his own chocolate.
Caro listens with amusement and laughingly mocks Lety's dramatic tone ("¡Ñaca-ñaca!"). Lety giggles too. I hope this means she'll be careful not to overdo it!
Fernando speeds through, apologizing and bowing profusely, as Lety used to do back in her days of the cubbyhole.
"He's my ugly assistant now," Lety tells Caro. She whispers that he can hear everything in there, so the two women repair to the boardroom to smoke some more rehash in private.
(Fern tries to listen at the door and discovers they're no longer in there. Why it doesn't occur to him to listen at the boardroom door, I have no idea.)
Lety is telling Caro that she forgave Fernando to help herself heal, and because he proved that he was sorry and that he loved her. But what she's really wanted to do all this time and couldn't, was forgive Omar. Caro is sympathetic, but warns Lety that it's a dangerous game and she could lose. Lety says no, because it's all up to Aurora. Caro reminds Lety not to fool herself: SHE is Aurora. Lety vents some more bile over Omar's badfulness.
"Are you thinking of making him suffer?" Caro whispers. "Just one lesson," Lety says flippantly. Caro smiles again, but is clearly nervous. Lety asks her to arrange a date with Omar, and let Aurora take care of the rest.
Caro says she'll do it, but only in hopes that Lety will see that she's wrong. "I sound like your mom," Caro adds. "Just one lesson," Lety repeats.
Interlude in the Vortex, where time has no meaning
"I'm back!" Alicia tells the cuartel joyfully. They make the usual sarcastic comments and call her Cornilocks again. PM asks if she spent the night in the park.
"First of all, I'm a natural blonde. And you don't know of the super-luxurious hotel that put me up. They begged me to stay longer."
Nobody believes her. Lola suggests that they take turns letting her sleep over, but PM doesn't relish the thought of another night listening to her snore.
Caro syrup and Omar's spoonful of chocolate
(Hey. My subheadings can't all be winners.)
Omar is thrilled by Caro's visit. He proudly tells her that he has the office all to himself again. They briefly discuss Fern's move to the cubbyhole, and Omar asks about Aurora. What did she say about the card?
Caro tells him Aurora was stunned. She is putting little effort into the deception, but Omar is encouraged by her noncommittal statement and runs with it. He says of course, he's great at writing love letters, so how about a date? Caro says yep, and tells him to wipe the drool off his chin.
View from a cubbyhole
Fern listens at the door as Lety tells Aldo how upset RoboPop was when he found out about the bunch of them being in love. Aldo says the big tangle is all Fern's fault. (Fern looks mad! "Choke, suffocate, die!" he mutters.) Aldo loudly says that Fern is going to have to accept that he, Aldo, wins. ("You think so!" Fern hisses. "Lety's going to decide in favor of me, stupid, stupid!!!!") "You're sooooo pretty," Aldo tells Lety. (Fern peeks out the door and slithers out.)
"Who's the prettiest baby in the world?" Aldo says, leaning in for a kiss. Lety doesn't lean away, but Fern pops up between them to ask what's the latest balance. "Oh, Aldo, I didn't see you! How are you?" Lety says she doesn't have it yet, she needs the account records first. "Okay, I'll do that because I'm your assistant," Fern proudly says. Aldo tells him to go get the last ten years' worth of records.
Later, in the Vortex, Aldo says he has an errand to do. Lety is intrigued and asks what he's hiding from her. Seeing Fern step off the elevator, Aldo says he'll tell her later.
Lety tells Fern she has to leave now. As Lety's assistant, Fern wants to know where she's going, and with whom. He doesn't get an answer, and goes back to his cubbyhole.
A moment later, Marcia comes out and asks Alicia if Fern's in his new office. Alicia is confused. "I was only gone for one day, and everything's changed!" Marcia throws her hands up in frustration and goes to see for herself. She finds Fern staring at a photo of Fern and Lety, I think from the day of the underwear commercial. Fern's phone rings, startling both of them; as they both scream, they startle each other too! Fern answers the phone in a less-than-professional manner and ends with a Letiesque "adios."
Marcia asks him what he's planning with this absurd little game. Fern says it's no game; he's very serious. From this office, he's going to rescue his family's business. "You mean you're going to fight for this?" Marcia asks, surprised. "Of course!"
With a halting smile, Marcia tells him he can count on her for whatever he does, because they're both family.
Wow. That totally blew me away.
Paradise relost
Tomas sells the Swigglemobile. He cries almost as much as Alicia did when it got repossessed. He even asks for a moment alone with the car to say goodbye. He tells the car he bought it to win Alicia's love, and now he's selling it for the same reason. (Yeah... no doubt Alicia will be thrilled to lose her soulmate yet again.)
Later, Tomas takes his paltry profits to a realtor and tries to pick out a place. He has difficulty finding something in his price range. ("Six million [pesos]?" he asks. "Um... I don't like the color. It'd clash with my girlfriend's eyes.")
Tomas comes back from his errands whistling and clicking his heels. He tells Alicia he's made a great sacrifice for her. "Don't make me laugh," she replies. He says it's to win her heart. He says he sold the car for her. "You sold MY car???" He says "OUR car." He explains that with the profit, he put a deposit on an apartment for her. Alicia is thrilled, and wants to know which swanky apartment complex it's in. Tomas proudly describes the location, which sounds kind of rural. Alicia's face contorts in horror. She looks at the literature and realizes that it's practically public housing. She's furious!
"We can change it later!" Tomas cries. Alicia tells him to stay with his mom and all her different kinds of bread. She'll go live with Marcia at Las Lomas. She flicks one of her gloves in his face.
A third day, a third dress
Lety goes to Manuel (without an appointment) for another dress. Manuel wants to know when she's going to decide to be one person! Lety confides that she doesn't feel like either of these people. He asks what kind of dress she needs today. Lety says she wants a dress for justice!
Great. Thanks to my local station, the beginning of the next scene got cut off by a commercial, so if I missed anything interesting, someone please say what??
Aurora meets Omar at the restaurant. She is wearing a peachy-colored dress, which in my opinion is the worst color they could have put her in. (Okay... orange might have been worse. Maybe.) I was hoping for a royal blue or a nice rich green. Or a Princely purple. Even yellow would have been better. But I suppose these dresses don't grow on trees, and beggars can't be choosy. But still... peach? With that hair color? With those skin tones? Eeeuch.
Anyway... so Aurora just stands there glaring at Omar until she finally asks if he'll seat her. Omar leaps up and helps her with the chair. He admits that she makes him a bit nervous. She says, "It appears that you're not used to being with women like me." "Like me?" Omar asks... oh boy, he really is nervous! "Like me," Aurora confirms. Omar says he's gone with all kinds of women.
"Really," Aurora says, giving him a hard smile... no doubt thinking there's at least one kind of dame he hasn't given the time of day to. Omar hastens to explain that he's been with enough sophisticated women, anyway, and done okay.
Aurora says he's a typical Don Juan, with one woman after another. Omar says he's not typical, but he's always had good luck with pretty women. "Always?" Aurora asks. "I think you're awfully vain."
"Why don't you understand me?" Omar whines. "Why don't you explain?" Aurora counters.
"It's just that... uh... what do you want to drink? Can we ask for a bed? - Uh, I mean a menu? They have the best food here and you're going to love it, you're going to like it." Aurora lets him babble like an idiot, and with a sinking feeling, I just realized that I feel sorry for this poor slob.
Later, when they get their food, Omar repeats, "You're going to love it." Aurora takes a bite and tries to make a disdainful face, but she can't - it's too yummy! But she quickly recovers, and puts on that I'm-so-bored look for Omar. "You don't like it?" Omar says, surprised.
"I've tried this dish in NY, and also in Paris, and they were much better than this," Aurora haughtily informs him. Omar is surprised, but calls the waiter over. (As soon as he turns his back, Aurora hurriedly licks her fingers!) "Tell the chef to come over here immediately!" Aurora says he's trying to impress her. She excuses herself, and tells him to talk faster when he has something to say. He begins to answer that he will talk as fast as he can, but Aurora's already gone to another table. Omar is humiliated!
Aurora mutters (in her Lety voice) to the men at the other table to act as though they know her. They eagerly comply, and offer her a seat. Omar tells himself he's going crazy over "my Aurora."
I feel sorry for him... but I still think it's funny.
The chef comes to confront Omar... it's Aldo! (On his way to Omar's table, he takes a long look at Aurora - she turns away quickly.)
"What are you doing here?" Omar asks. "I'm the chef." "The owner of Conceptos is the chef here?!" "Well, it IS my profession..." Omar says Aldo probably works there because it's fun, he likes it, to kill time, etc. Aldo tells him that he had to sell off everything he owned to pay off Conceptos's debt, and therefore he's working for the money, not the fun. And he's busy. He excuses himself. Omar doesn't get a chance to complain about Aurora's meal.
Omar notices that Aurora has already left. He's almost too sad to be embarrassed.
In the Bat-Cave
Fernando is doing actual work and wondering when Lety will come back. (She's doing her Aurora gig.) He reminds himself to give her some space.
His parents pop in for a visit. "How sad," Bozo says of Fern's new office. Fern says he's rising to the challenge of getting the company back. Humberto says he's incredibly surprised... and he admires what Fern is doing. He tells Fern to count on his support, and that he's proud of him! They kick out Bozo so they can talk man-to-man.
In Moty jammies again
Lety remembers Aldo saying that he sold everything, and he's not working for enjoyment, but for salary. Lety feels guilty and wonders what to do. She has to decide between Aldo and Fernando, but it's the most difficult thing in the world, because they're both so nice. Don Fernando is Don Fernando and she loves him, he's a seducer, he fills her with passion. But she also likes Aldo a lot, he fascinates her, he's so handsome, but he's also so wise and so intense. And his support for her has ended him up in the street.
Lety cries and writes in her diary. She says it's not so complicated. Does she want to go on suffering with Fern, or give herself a chance with Aldo? Aldo's never made her suffer at all, and he accepts her just the way he is, not even knowing what else she could look like. She already had a relationship with Fern, and it ended in tears.
"How would it be with Aldo?" she wonders.
At Le Noir
Humbo and Fern are having dinner at the place where Tomas once ordered two eggs for $20 apiece. Humberto can't wait to hear whatever it is that Fern wants to talk about. Fern says that for the first time in his life, he's in love. Humberto says he thought the same thing when he was with Marcia. Fern says this is different, and real.
"Who is she - do I know her?"
Okay, will someone please confirm for me that Fern and his parents already had a similar conversation a couple of weeks ago and that Humberto should be well aware of Fern's feelings towards Lety?
Fern tells Humbo that it's Lety - his assis... er, his girlfr... er, his boss.
Lety makes her own decision
It's still nighttime. Lety waits on a swing in the park. (I think it's just a short time later, not the next morning yet.) Aldo comes walking by and is delighted, if surprised, to see her. He wonders how she knew where to find him.
Lety stares at him intensely, then gives him a kiss.
HEY, OKAY, THAT'S ENOUGH YOU TWO, DON'T MAKE ME COME OVER THERE WITH A HOSE!
Aldo says there's only one way to interpret such a beautiful kiss. "Yes, Aldo. I love you." Aldo gets all happy and dimply. He asks her to repeat it. She says she loves him, and she thinks they should give themselves the chance to be together. She admits she wasn't sure, but today she felt it in her heart.
Aldo says she doesn't know how long he's hoped for this moment. He never lost his faith. She gives him a big metallic smile. They exchange mushy words and spin around in front of a fountain. He wants the whole world to know that she loves him. He's the happiest man in the world. Lety says she's the luckiest woman, and she thanks God for letting him meet her, and the sea for introducing them.
Another kiss, then the Golden Circle Of Goodbye.
Final note
Well, there you have it. Lety finally put on her Big Girl Panties. While they're not the ones I would have recommended, at least she made a decision.
But you'll notice that she chose her words very carefully. She's basically saying "I'd like to sample the other flavor first."
Sometimes, in order to learn something, you have to make a big fat mistake. Maybe a lot of big fat mistakes. Sometimes other people get hurt as a result of your learning experience, especially when you sample them like they're ice cream.
What I'm trying to say here, is that we're going to need several pairs of Big Boy Panties in the next few weeks. I'm afraid to even guess how many.

While pouring the tequila, Aaron gives Ro the evil eye and his thought bubble lets us know that he considers them enemies now.
Gaviota is preparing to go to corporate to meet with Aaron and Nancy is acting the happy little mouse to her struggling Cinderella, procuring shoes and a handbag from her mom and redoing her hair and makeup.
Isadora’s parents are giving her some sob story about how the economic crisis has hit their business hard and they don’t have two pesos to rub together. They need money and are depending on her help to save them from the crisis.
Pilar tells
Aaron is trying to sell Rodrigo on the idea of some fancy pants 6 year-old tequila in an over-priced bottle of gold and silver. Ro reminds him that daddy-o didn’t like the idea, and Aaron scoffs. Ro reminds him to listen to his dad and the lessons he’s learned while building the company. The new homely secretary delivers a report that
When, lo and behold, in walks Gaviota, trying to get a job as Aaron’s secretary. She is told by the receptionist, that he already has a secretary, the homely Genoveva and Gaviota has a worried little thought bubble. Gaviota sees Rodrigo & Aaron leaving and has a woozy moment but recovers and goes to see the HR guy to try and get a job in the company. No luck in HR, but the receptionist helps her to set up a meeting with Aaron.
After a lunchtime appointment getting her talons sharpened, Flavia is back at work and looking for Gaviota.
Meanwhile, Minerva is giving the new recruit her first training at Montalvo. She tells her she expects her to let her know about all of the “extracurricular” phone calls that Aaron receives. Genoveva nods obediently, probably wondering how long it will take to find another job where people aren’t completely BSC. Aaron sees Minerva leaving the office and is less than pleased. He pushes her away and then starts barking at her to stay away from the office and leave him alone. She tells him that since she can’t trust him, she can’t leave him in peace. Aaron concedes defeat.
Gaviota’s back at the hotel giving
The farmworkers are eating dinner and Ramon says that Ro & Izzy are coming back tomorrow. Hilario flashes back to Sor Juana wearing Izzy’s undies (ugh) and them having a quick romp in the patron’s bed when he started daydreaming of Isadora. Oh my….that would break the cardinal rule of a good worker (don’t screw the boss’ wife!). He’s very upset, but Sor Juana comes out and takes his mind off his problems by asking him to buy her some lingerie.
Gaviota goes home and her mom is all worried about the bills. She tells her her plan to meet with Aaron. Her mom is shocked. She tells Gav to pray to the virgin to save her from this stupid plan and all it’s lies. Gav tells her she saw Rodrigo at the office, but that he didn’t see her and not to worry since she heard he’s going back to the ranch. Her mom tells her she’s more stubborn than a mule. Later, being the good daughter that she is, she prays to the virgin for some guidance in her plan.
Aaron tells Minerva all the bad news from his meeting with Rodrigo…namely that he’s still in love with Gaviota.
Ro & Isadora arrive back at the farm. Isadora tells Rodrigo about her father’s money problems. He offers to help. He gets ready to go to his bedroom, but she asks him not to go because she doesn’t want to sleep alone. She changes into her new nightie and invites Rodrigo over to the bed. He comes over but makes a little wall with pillows between them and sleeps on top of the covers. The next morning he has a dream about Gaviota and sneaks out of the bed.
Sr. Good Guy calls Gaviota into his office and decides to reconfess his undying love for her and asks her to marry him. She delivers a little monologue about how she has only seen something like this in telenovelas (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). She tells him that her heart belongs to another, and that she wishes she could erase this other guy from her soul, because he doesn’t deserve it, but she can’t and it would be easier to live without air than to forget about this love.
Rodrigo asks Ramon about Gaviota. The Gav Squad haven’t learned anything.
The receptionist tells Aaron about Gaviota, he tells her to make an appointment for her. He goes into the office with Genoveva and tells Elvira he doesn’t want any impertinent interruptions (I think I’ll start using that phrase with my kids…sounds like a winner.) The receptionist makes an appointment for Gav. Gav and Nancy jump for joy.

Duelo de Pasiones, Thursday April 19 - "This can't be happening! I am a man! No no noooooo!"
(I used to like Gaspar but he's turned into a boring stalker. What happened to his good nature?)
Stupid Alina -- who I will call Duh Alina for short -- overheard Thelma's fake argument with Orlando and believed Thelma really had thrown him out of the house. She told Tonqui she would trust Thelma now.
At a hospital: Don Celso, not quite dead after all, told Coral she would inherit all his money and must fight for her happiness. Then he finished dying. Coral sobbed to make sure the audience didn't think she was a gold-digger or anything.
Later, Don Celso's evil nephew, Dario, told Coral to give up the inheritance. Coral said, "It's mine and you're not going to see a peso of this money." Dario replied, "If you want war, I'm going to give you war!"
Back in Sierra Escondida: Braulio (Rosita's father) rode around looking for Santos but didn't find him.
Carmen confronted Maximo and asked, "What have you done to Santos? Something has happened to my son and you are to blame!" Maximo told her he had other things to worry about than her son, so get lost.
Santos, asleep at the house of long-haired psychiatrist Dr. Z, dreamed about his fight with Castulo. He woke up and told Dr. Z he was confused and couldn't remember anything. Dr. Z said Santos might have amnesia (oh, really?) but was lucky to have fallen into the hands of a psychiatrist. Yes, what a coincidence!
At La Rinconada: Thelma crushed some sleeping pills to put into Alina's tea. She told Ifigenio to prepare the coach so her Singing Aunt Rebeca could go to San Mateo and buy some baby clothes. (Thelma's actually supposed to be sending Ifigenio to pick up Emilio, but she hasn't told Ifigenio about that. I don't know why.)
Ricardo, aka Dr. Fonseca, aka Dr. Love, aka Orville Redenbacher, seems to be staying at Elias's cabin now. They drank coffee and agreed again that they wanted to save Mariana and Soledad.
(Maybe Dr. Ricardo-Orville Love-Fonseca should be called Dr. Hero, because he is the ONLY man on this show to really stand up to Alvaro. Elias doesn't count since his idea of heroism is telling Sergio to go ahead and shoot him. I'm sure that impresses the ladies of Sierra Escondida, but it doesn't save them from Don Loco's evil clutches. I am hoping Dr. Bowtie will be the one person on this show to employ an actual brain.)
Luba went to La Rinconada and was intercepted in the kitchen by Vera and Jaime/Mexican Larry, who grabbed some brooms to fend her off. She told them, "I didn't come to do witchcraft. I came to see Flor."
Vera told her that Thelma had changed. Not reassured, Luba insisted that she wanted to see Alina. To get rid of her, Mexican Larry told her that he'd seen Gaspar with Thelma. That convinced Luba to leave (I guess because she doesn't want Mexican Larry to tell anyone what he saw), but she paused long enough to crack to Vera (who was still clutching a broom) that modern witches didn't use brooms.
Thelma invited Duh Alina downstairs for some nice drugged tea. After Thelma left the room, Duh Alina learned from Vera that Orlando was still at La Rinconada. Alina hurried back to her bedroom and locked herself in, saying to herself, "It was a trap, and I fell into it like an idiot."
She turned around to find Orlando smirking at her. She told him to leave but he said, "We have something pending," then grabbed her. Alina struggled and said, "Suélteme!" ("Let go of me!")
Orlando said, "It is useless to try to escape." He threw her on the bed and said, "Kiss me, a real passionate kiss." Dream on, Orlando.
Alina jumped up and tried to run away, but Thelma's sleeping pills kicked in and she passed out in his arms. He carried her back to the bed and started ogling and pawing her, looking like a dazed and confused vampire.
Meanwhile, at Casa Loco: Elias sneaked into the kitchen and asked Adela to help him speak to Soledad. Adela went upstairs to Mariana's room and whispered this news to Soledad.
Soledad asked Mariana to help her find a way to see Elias. Adela pointed out that Mariana couldn't do that, seeing as she couldn't move, but Soledad asid, "She can hear me, and I know something will occur to me."
Elias got tired of waiting for Adela and left the kitchen on his own. Another good plan, Elias! Naturally Don Loco thought he saw something moving and went to investigate. Elias hid behind a curtain.
Alvaro produced his gun and prowled around for a while, then decided nobody was there and left. After all, seeing something that isn't there is commonplace for Don Loco -- he probably has a "someone sneaking into the house to see Soledad" delusion 10 times a day.
He was making out with Alfonsina when Soledad (who seems to have the run of Casa Loco now) arrived and told him to come see Mariana because she was having a crisis.
Mariana pretended to be unconscious and Alvaro said he would go for the doctor. After he left, Mariana opened her eyes and Soledad thanked her.
Back a La Rinconada: Orlando slowly removed the unconscious Alina's clothes. Thelma knocked on the bedroom door and Orlando let her in.
Thelma looked at Alina and, apparently thinking Orlando needed a pep talk, told him, "You have to make her yours before it gets dark." She left, telling him, "Enjoy yourself."
Orlando started slowly removing his shirt (he should do that more often) while gazing at Alina doubtfully.
(At this point I was thinking: Where the heck is Tonqui? It's time for him to jump through the window! The room is probably on the second floor, but no importa, I'm sure there just happens to be a trampoline under her window. What are you waiting for, Tonqui?!)
At Luba's cave: Gaspar pestered his mother to tell him what was in the Mystery Box. Luba said Alvaro would kill whoever found out what was inside! "This box can't be opened! It is maldito (damned)!"
At a funeral home: Coral was visited by her friends Erica and Lucas. I don't think we've seen them before. They comforted Coral. Erica said, "Now you're going to enjoy Don Celso's money and live happily." Evil Nephew Dario arrived just then.
Back at La Rinconada: Orlando STILL had not raped Alina. He asked himself, "But what is the matter with me?" then fell on his knees (shirtless but still wearing his blue jeans), and sobbed, "I can't function as a man! This can't be happening! I am a man!"
He wept and cried to the ceiling (apparently thinking God might want to help him in this situation), "No no. Noooooo!!!!!"
To which I could only say ha ha haaa! Thank you to the actor who plays Orlando for this telenovela's funniest scene.
Back at Casa Loco: Alfonsina mused that she had to find a way to get Alvaro to sign that paper Hugo gave her. While she was doing this, Adela came along and locked Alfonsina into her room. Alfonsina banged on the door and demanded to be let out while Adela made excuses.
Elias took this opportunity to meet Soledad in Mariana's room. He said, "I need your help, Soledad," and told her Dr. Love/Hero/Orville Fonseca wanted to save Mariana, then started to explain a plan (that the audience, of course, didn't get to overhear).
Meanwhile, at La Rinconada, the distraught Orlando yelled at his reflections in a three-way mirror. He took a swig from a flask, weeping and telling himself to go ahead and drink "like an impotent idiot!"
Then he angrily spit the drink out at his three reflections, saying, "You disgust me!" He pointed out Alina to his reflections, saying, "Look at her," there he had her, unable to do anything! "I need her heat. I need her kisses! I can't let any more time pass. Alina has to be mine!"
Words from this episode:

guerra = war
escoba = broom
anochezca = get dark
manos amarradas = tied hands
