La Verdad Oculta EP108 02/17/2011 – E-mail My Heart

*Frightened Julieta calls Lionheart who kicks Adolfo’s bony butt out of the building, and then gets a warm hug from his damsel in distress.

* At home Adolfo calls “Silverio”, who’s just playing billiard with Psycho Eddie and Valentín in a bar. Carmelo tells him his boss needs Adolfo’s e-mail address to get in touch with him and he refuses to tell Dolphie who his boss is. And how much diamonds do they have? Approximately 20. After they finish the conversation Édgar scolds Carmelo: you idiot, we only have 7 gems, the others ended up in the margarine! But Carmelo wants to take a look at the shoes again.

* Bertha and a huge amount of freshly bought, expensive dresses arrive at the condo, where Sugar Daddy gives her a shiny necklace and asks her to call Mario. Convince him she regretted everything and she wants to reconcile with the family. Naturally Adolfo only wants her to mend her relationship with them! But he doesn’t even need to make up a story: Bertha is so enchanted with the necklace that she hardly hears his words.

*The three amigos reunite in Carmelo’s house where Eddie and Valentín show him the shoes, Gabriela’s photo and the documents from Garnica’s safe. Genious Silverio-Carmelo does what nobody else did before: he cuts the other shoe up and finds more diamonds inside.

* In a restaurant Dora and Jorge talk about meeting with David again. Dora’s lines, Jorge’s lines. Jorge plans to arrange a meeting and she decides to disguise herself to avoid danger.

* While having breakfast, Adolfo tells Bertha tales about Mario’s wealth and advises her to meet with him in Mirador at 3 in the afternoon. In the meantime Jorge calls David and they decide to meet in the park. In the neighbouring house Juan José tells Asunción he’s going to visit Elsa, but psst, psst, Mommy Ale mustn’t know about it! If she asks Limón tell her JJ’s in his office.

* In the condo Zebra Bertha calls surprised FaustiMario. She would like to talk with him and to apologize, could they meet at the restaurant on the first floor of Mirador? In their hotel room (which is totally Elsa’s old flat with a new color) Jorge admires Dora’s disguise and gives a pair of sunglasses to the winner of the monthly Lady Gaga Lookalike Contest.

* While Adolfo calls his mobster friends and hires a hitman who will have to get rid of Mario in Mirador, David and a bouquet of flowers meet Dora and Don Jorge in the park. He has so many things to tell her, he doesn’t even know where to start.

* In the prison JJ tells Elsa about Carlos’s 180 degree turn and tries to cheer her up. The most important thing is to get her out of jail. But when Elsa informs him about Mauricio and his lawyer, who are already working on her case, he’s Anti-Medina Centre switches on and says come on, he’s the one who’ll have to help her, he owes her that… and he manages to infuriate Elsa. He doesn’t own him anything and she doesn’t want his pity!

* David is also talking about Carlos, he tells Dora that Adolfo’s son is on their side now. And what about Gabriela, how is she? Blushing, happy and proud David tells her she’s going to be a grandmother. Dora who’s gets overjoyed at the news: look, Don Jorge, I’m going to have grandchildren, too! But there’s one more thing Dave has to tell her… Lately Gaby learned she’s Don Mario’s daughter.

*Carlos shows up at the design studio to invite the ladies for lunch. Ay, qué pena, Alejandra is going to have lunch with her husband, but why doesn’t he accompany Mina? Wink, wink.

* In the prison it’s loyal, caring Ulises’s turn to cheer Elsa up. When she tells him about JJ’s visits and accuses Ulises for visiting her out of pity, too, he assures the girl everyone know she’s innocent and try to prove it. Elsa collapses, she’s afraid this all was her destiny. Ulises doesn’t know how awful her life has been: her father left her, her stepfather tried to rape her and her brother killed him to protect her. Yes, she suffered much, says Ulises, and if it helps her, he can tell her he lives in a prison, too. A prison that’s inside of him. When his father found out he was gay he kicked him out of the house. He had to bear others’ insults all his life, and people like Édgar took advantage of his loneliness. They agree that Zaida, Dante and Eddie took advantage of their benevolence, and when Elsa pulls the “I can’t trust anyone again” card, Ulises reminds her of the people who try to help her: the police, the lawyer, Mauricio and even Juan José. She has to be strong and remember she isn’t alone. In the meantime Alejandra calls her husband at Mirador but learns from his secretary that he’s already left.

* The naughty members of Goonyland are creating e-mails based on what they know about Garnica to make their bosses believe that Dances with Fishes is still alive. “Dante, be careful with Adolfo Ávila, he wanted to kill me in Vallarta! Fortunately a brave boy called Édgar saved me.” (Édgar: Boy? Boy?!) “A brave guy called Édgar saved me. This Édgar also told me that Adolfo’s driven into a corner by the police because of his smuggling businesses, and now he’s looking for a fall guy. It’ll be you, Dante. Be careful with Adolfo, he’s setting up a trap for you.”

*In a bar Mina and Carlos have great time together and talk about their idiot ex-lovers. Did Carlos fall in love with Bertha? He doesn’t really know, but anyway, she left him for his father. Oh, and his father might have killed his mother. But when Carlos looks at Mina he forget his problems and finally realizes how pretty she is.

* Dante receives “Garnica’s” e-mail that almost makes him to swallow his cigar. Number of jaws on the floor: 1. He immediately writes an answer and asks Garnica how could Adolfo drive him into a corner. Carmelo answers that information will cost Dante money, and the goons even manage to throw JJ’s name into the mess, again.

* When Juan José, aka the second worst amateur actor arrives back at Mirador he finds Alejandra in his office and after some lame excuses he admits he visited Elsa. Alejandra looks relieved: that’s why he lied to her? Elsa is his friend, she’s in trouble, JJ may visit her whenever he wants, just don’t lie about it. By the way, he’s got mail. (Juan José: Un MAI?) Alejandra reads out the e-mail: “Mr. Victoria, we have to talk, we have many pending businesses. Bye, Javier Garnica.” Number of jaws on the floor: 3. He’s alive?! Mommy Ale thinks anyone could’ve written that e-mail, and before answering it they should calm down and think the situation over.

* The enthusiastic gangsters send the last letter to Adolfo. “Dear Adolfo, what did you think? I’m alive! And now you’re going to pay me more than I asked for last time. I found out you sent Zaida after me to kill me, but I was smarter than her… I asked Édgar to sleep with her therefore I could flee. And guess what, Dante Sevilla sent a professional torturer after Édgar to find those famous shoes… And now I have them! Because the man Sevilla sent after him is my buddy.” Number of jaws on the floor: 4.

* In Mirador Bertha is waiting for Mario on the first floor. While the old man is climbing the stairs, Ale and JJ show up in the hall and notice both of them. Bertha decides to flee and the couple follows them. That is the moment when Adolfo’s 45th hired goon shows up and pushes FaustiMario over the balustrade. Santiago Guzmán, you definitely should’ve married someone else 23 years ago.

La Fea Más Bella #217-218 2/17/11 One step back.

Capitulo 217.
Read Julie’s original recap which covers both episodes, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Lety asks the cuartel how they know about her and Fernando. They won’t answer so she cold shoulders them. They repent and tell her that they found the letter. Lety says the letter was just an ugly joke of Omar’s. Marta asks, if it wasn’t true, why did Lety cry and cry? Lety tells them the truth.

2. Fernando acts like a jerk in the restaurant association meeting, childishly mocking Aldo and insisting on being first in everything. Even Omar tells him he acted childishly. Fern agrees and says the solution is to take Aldo off the project, out of the company, out of his life, and out of Lety’s life. Fern is sure he and Omar can do everything without Aldo; they just need his book (which isn’t finished yet).

3. Saimon brings Lety a basket of flowers from Aldo. Ali tells Marcia that Lety bought a car. Saimon thinks Tom is crying in the baño and tries to console him. Ali tells Marcia she’s sure Aldo proposed. She provides proof: the loving look in his photo.

.

.

4. In the baño, Juana realizes that part of the divination came true. Lety says her life changed 180 degrees, but she doesn’t think Fernando changed. Sooner or later he’ll get the presidency back and marry Marcia. She’s forgetting the rest of the divination (Cap 38).
Very complicated days are coming. Hard and decisive. Your professional life and love life are united, they seem like one. Big changes. Big problems. Great satisfaction. Relationship of your dreams. In the middle, a storm. Together for a time, then separate. You’ll soon have a galán at Conceptos. I don’t know, Lety, but a whirlwind is going to come into your life. Everything will change. And something will come to pass. Something that you desire deeply Lety.

5. Fernando tells Omar the bag of cards is staying in their office, punto!

Capitulo 218.

1. Tomás shows Alicia his makeover, his attempt to look like Aldo, and she laughs uncontrollably. Aldo hauls Tom to the bathroom and patches up his fallen ego. They try to wash the color out. Tom offers a truce and friendship. Aldo rescues and comforts Tom: good. Aldo sucks up to Lety’s best friend: bad.

2. Lety admires the flowers Aldo sent, while Fern spies from the doorway, but he doesn’t hear who sent them. Then Fern hears Ali tell the cuartel Aldo proposed. Fern reports the news to Omar, but he concludes Lety has yet another suitor. IT’S RAINING MEN!

3. Tom asks Aldo’s opinion of Lety, like a big brother probing his intentions. Tom concludes that Aldo would make Lety happy.

4. Lety tells Caro she’s sure Aldo has no romantic interest in her.

5. I’m not sure, but I think Luigi breaks up with Ruli.

6. Fernando challenges Aldo’s attendance in the meeting. Aldo spouts his deep thoughts. Fernando says Aldo gives a speech with some cheap philosophy, he’s satisfied, and everyone is happy. Marcia tells Fern to stop being rude to Aldo.

Eva Luna #73 Wed 2/16/11 Eva sets a few people straight

We had a few scenes from yesterday, Adrian in the corner being punished by Thomas the tormenter; and at the same time we see Justa and Ricardo at the police station filing a complaint against Thomas.

We also have the rehash of Leo telling Eva her son needs a father and he needs her. Vicky is hidden in the corner intently listening in. We also rehash Eva spilling the beans that Daniel is Pablito’s father. Vicky looks on horrified.

Leo doesn’t seemed surprised by this. He asks her what she plans on doing. She tells him nothing but pleads with him not to tell anyone. Leo assures her that her secret is safe with him. She tells him that’s why she told him the truth, because she could always confide in him. Leo gives her a snaky smile assuring her she can trust him as Vicky takes off.

Victoria has made it back to Daniel’s house and is having a serious conversation with herself “That’s all I need. If Daniel finds out Eva’s child is his, he is capable of returning to her. I can’t permit Eva to have this weapon (arma) against me. I have to give Daniel a child.” She calls Leo and tells him she needs to talk with him urgently.

Renata is in the dining room setting the table. Eva approaches her and kindly asks for a glass of water. Renata not looking up tells her she is busy and to get it herself. Wrong answer!!!! Eva takes the plate out of her hand and spear chucks it across the room. Well that got her attention as she looks up in fright.

We have a stare down with Renata’s jaw dropped to the floor in disbelieve as Eva takes another plate and chucks that one across the room. Renata is shouting that they are expensive and struggling to take them away from Eva. Eva continues throwing them and tells Renata she will take it out of her wages if she doesn’t start respecting her. And if she has to she will break the entire set and charge Renata for it

Renata looks up and asks her if she is enjoying all this. Eva looks back at her and says “No not really. I am not accustomed to other people’s miserable behavior. Like how you treated me the first day I came to this house to work. You humiliated me and devalued me Renata.” Renata shocked at first tells Eva angrily that Leo should have never brought her to this house. Eva continues to tell Renata “from the first day I knew you were a biter resentful women. And now you are getting what you gave. One reaps what they sow (Uno cosecha lo que siembra). Only God knows what you have done and only he can collect.” This sends Renata hightailing to the hills but Eva is not done and calls her back angrily shouting “don’t you ever disrespect me again and don’t ‘tutear’ me. (Use the more familiar form of speaking reserved for close friends and family.) Now go get something to clean this up” as she points to the broken dishes.

Renata leaves and Eva hangs on to the chair for dear life and breathing deeply as she says a silent prayer “forgive me I never imagined I could do something like that but if I want to gain her respect for the position I hold in this house I can’t act weak in front of her.”

Dan and Fran are bonding over a few drinks.

Victoria enters the house and chews him out for getting drunk with the chauffer. Fran tells Dan it is probably best if he leaves. Vick with arms crossed asks Dan if he isn’t embarrassed. Dan setting his drink down, tells her if she is going to cause a scandal, he wants to act dignified while she chews him out. Victoria has now turned her “sweet button” on as she calls him over and says “I am not going to chew you out. Quite the opposite.” She now has gotten very close and is hugging him telling him she wants to stop all the fighting. Dan is actually buying this as he smiles. She sweetly tells him she has to leave now as she has an appointment.

Eva, with Pablito on her lap, is telling Tia Matilda how bad she felt treating Renata the way she did. Renata just doesn’t get that things have changed. Tia warns her not to become as mean as the people who treated her so badly. Eva tells her she knows but just wants them to obey her. Tia warns her to not loose who she really is with all this vengeance. She tells her not to permit her heart to harden but to continue to go forward. She tells her to try and get some rest after such a tough day. Eva tells her she can’t imagine the tough day she had. She had to confront many people who were just waiting for her to fail. Now the worse is yet to come as she has to face the clients. Tia encourages her and tells her everything will be fine.

Eva then tells Tia she met one of the clients who turns out to be an intimate friend of Marcella’s. She says the name Deborah and Ta is left with a shocked look on her face. She stands up and innocently asks what she said. Eva tells her she just came to see Marcella. She also tells Tia she felt strangely resentful when she saw Deb because it made her think about her mother. Tia walks back towards Eva and tells her she has something to tell her about this woman. Eva asks her if she knows Deb. Tia tells her yes. Eva wants to know if it has to do with Marcella. Tia says no and just as she is about to spill the beans about Deb, in pops Alicia all bubbly and so proud of her big sister.

She tells Eva she crushed every one and was a huge success. She tells her everyone is talking about it and she is so proud of her. Tia then takes Pablito away and Eva and Alicia are left alone sitting on Don Julio’s leather couch. Alicia wisely notes that even with all this wealth Eva seems sad. Eva sadly agrees and tells her she will be sad always.

Victoria has met up with Leo. She tells him she knows Eva’s child is Daniel’s. He asks her how she knows. She tells him she was listening in.

Fran is sitting at the kitchen table. Jacky stirring a pot on the stove asks him if he is still mad at her because of the flowers. He continues eating and ignores her. Jacky walks over to him and asks him to forgive her. She walks away telling him if he had let her know he was hungry she could have made something more to his liking. He says “ Why? so you could later hit me over the head with the plate?” Jacky tells him to stop being mad. He tells her he isn’t mad he is hurt. Jacky tells him she knows she acted badly, and goes to retrieve a pastry, even doing a cute little backwards walk as she brings it over to the counter. She places it in front of him saying “Look what I made. Your favorite desert.” Fran dabs his finger to the frosting and I think he is weakening.

Victoria is bad mouthing Eva and can’t believe Eva would say Daniel was her child’s father. (I think that’s what she said.) Leo tells her he hates to rain on her parade but he believes the child is indeed Daniel’s. He tells her that Eva would have no reason to lie to him about this. Victoria says well than they are both a couple of jerks. Then she tells him he has to help her so that Daniel doesn’t find out about this. She tells him she has decided to get pregnant by Daniel. Leo tells her good and the faster she gets pregnant the better.

Fran is now enjoying the desert, as he takes a bite and tells Jacky it is really good. She says than you forgive me? Fran tells her of course he forgives her. “How can I be mad at you when you make such a marvelous thing.” as he smiles and continues eating. Then he slyly looks at her and asks her if she wants to go to the movies. Jacky seems surprised and replies “Me? With You?” He says sure, tomorrow. Jacky tells him she can’t tomorrow. Fran seems a bit disappointed and says well then the next day as he walks away with his desert. Jacky is elated.

Tia Matilda has now decided that it is best that she doesn’t tell Eva about Deborah. After all she isn’t going by the last name Gonzales. And in the meantime Deb won’t dare say anything to Eva. Eva and Alicia can never find out the truth. Just then Eva walks in and reminds her she was about to tell her something about Deb before Alicia walked in. Tia tells her it was nothing, but tells her she shouldn’t confide in this woman.

Daniel is sitting on his sofa thinking to himself “Eva why can’t I stop thinking about you. Why? Will I ever be able to stop loving you.”

We travel over to the “Gonzales Mansion.” Alicia is getting ready for bed and is surprised to see an eager Leo installed in her bed waiting for her. He tells her to lock the door and not to worry.

Daniel is asleep on the couch and in walks Eva. She seductively approaches him as he sits up and sees her. He walks over to her and asks her how she got in. She tells him that isn’t important. The important thing is that she is there and she knows that makes him very happy. He tells her he can’t deny that he really missed her. She tells him she missed him as well. He tells her she really hurt him when she left. She tells him that doesn’t matter now, they have to make up for lost time. They are standing very close as Eva has her hands on his chest. Daniel nervously looks towards the door and says Victoria could walk in any minute. Eva says “That doesn’t matter, she needs to know that the one you want is me.” And we get a very passionate noisy kiss.

Don’t you hate it when you are in the middle of the best dream ever and suddenly woken. Well that’s the deal here as Dan is suddenly brought out of his dream to his real life nightmare as Victoria is standing over him saying his name. He looks at her slightly dazed as she sits down and says sweetly “I’m sorry my love, I was waiting for you so we could go to bed together.” He tells her he fell asleep. Victoria says “I know and it looks like you were having a good dream.” Dan looking guilty now looks at her and asks why she would say that. She tells him it was because he was smiling and then asks him what he was dreaming about. He stands up wiping at his face and tells her he doesn’t remember. Vicky stands as well and tells him she will now be in charge of making sure he smiles again but while he is awake and leads him off to the bedroom.

Leo and Alicia are in bed now and we have to suffer through the motions. Finally it is over and Leo tells Alicia now she can stop having doubts about how he feels. His kisses and caresses have told her more than any words. He reminds her that Eva and him are nothing more than friends and work colleagues. Alicia tells him he has no idea how happy that makes her to hear that. Leo thought bubbles “I will keep you content as long as it is convenient for me.”

Cute baby scene as Pablito is cooing away in his crib.

Eva rushes about getting ready for work as she gives him a good bye kiss and leaves him to Tia‘s care.

Justa and Ricardo are at the pension all worried about Adrian. They can’t imagine where he could be. Hopefully the police will find him before his father can cause any more harm.

Marcella is sitting at the table eating as if the last year or so never happened. Eva walks in and Marcela, without looking at her tells her good morning. Eva in a lovely lavender number walks over to her and Marcella tells her she was waiting for her. Eva asks her what she wants and Marcella says to talk with her. Eva reminds Marcella that she is sitting at her place. Marcella touching the chair and then looking up at Eva tells her “This is my chair.” Eva tells her “I thought it over, don’t get up, If it is so nostalgic for you to sit in my chair stay there for today.” Renata walks around the corner with Marcella’s juice and Eva tells her she will have breakfast out. Eva starts to walk away as Marcella shouts after her “Eva I need to talk to you.” Eva replies “I don’t have time to talk to you” and leaves. Marcella literally bites her lip as Eva leaves.

Fran is sneaking around the kitchen corner with a bouquet of flowers as we see Jacky putting a salad together. He cautiously walks towards her with flowers outstretched in his hand.

Jacky tells him not to exaggerate and that she isn’t going to hit him. He smiles and walks up to her and starts flirting quite sweetly as he asks her if they are going to the movies like they planned and gives her a small peck on the cheek. Jacky smiles back and says, yes lets go.

Dan walks in and they both seem surprised as Jacky backs away trying to hide the flowers. Fran asks him how he is doing and asks after Victoria. Dan tells him she is at the gym, her real home. Jacky now hiding the flowers behind Fran asks if he wants breakfast.

Both Fran and Jacky are now nervously preparing Dan something to eat when the phone rings. Dan answers it and we see Eva in a car asking to speak with Jacky. Dan asks who is calling and Eva answers with sarcasm “You don’t recognize my voice? This is Eva.” Daniel replies “The Eva that I know is more charming and friendly.” Both Jacky and Fran are looking on quite uncomfortably. Eva adds “And very dumb.” Dan continues “ Say what you want but the Eva I was talking about is gone, the one I fell in love with.” Eva seems quite affected by this.

Renata is now bringing coffee to Marcela. She tells her she is happy to see she has left her bedroom and dressed. Marcella tells her she dressed up to go to work. Renata asks “The agency?” Marcella tells her you have to keep your enemies close at all times.

Renata tells Marcella that she is fed up with Eva. She can’t stand taking orders from her. Marcella tells her she can’t stand it neither. She shrugs her shoulder like what can we do and tells her to get her a taxi. Once Renata is gone Marcela says out loud “This Agency is mine and I won’t let anyone take it away from me.”

Eva is still on the phone and curtly says to Dan “Is Jacky there or not. I can talk to you at the office.” We see a resigned Dan looking at Jacky telling her it is for her. Jacky enthusiastically takes the phone and says a cheerful “HI there amiga” Fran makes small talk with Dan. Jacky turns to Dan with the phone behind her back and asks if he would be so kind to give her the night off so she can go see her friend, Eva.

Daniel looking quite frustrated says “Of course.” and walks away like a seven year old that has been betrayed. Jacky then excitedly tells Eva that she can make it and will se her tonight. Fran is behind her futzing with the flowers and when she turns around he is standing right next to her, both smiling at each other.

Vicky is at the fertility clinic. She thought bubbles “This maternity stuff makes me sick. What a bother it is to have kids. Look at that gut (barriga/gut or large belly) that women has ” as she sees a pregnant women walking about. She looks up at her and smiles telling her she looks very happy. The women walks over to her and starts talking to her. Victoria asks her how the pregnancy is going along. She tells her it is fine now but in the beginning she was nauseous and dizzy. I think she also told her she has stretch marks on her bust and her stomach. Vicky tries to hide her disgust as the women continues that she only has one varicose vein, but everything else has been perfect.

The women tells Vicky that at least she has a beautiful big belly. Vicky smiles in agreement, but when the woman walks away she says to her self “How horrible, oh well if that happens to me I will figure out how to fix it. Now it is urgent that I get pregnant by Daniel.”

Eva is now in her new office with her staff and greets them with smiles. She tells Olga she doesn’t want any interruptions. She thanks them all for their help and tells them now she wants to know more about what they do. We see big smiles all around.

Renata is all in a snit saying she can’t stand to be in this house any more. She remembers Eve’s words from the morning. She says she can’t take the guilt anymore. Than she remembers her chat with Dr. Garcia, when he came to the house telling her Julio had seen Justa before he died. She remembers telling him that was not possible because Justa was dead and Julio knew that. She wonders what Julio could have left for Justa. “If I help her get this inheritance God has to forgive me.” She takes the phone and calls Dr. Garcia.
She tells him she needs to talk to him.

Marcella has entered the agency. The cheerful atmosphere quickly turns chilly. She snarls at the two women standing and wants to know why they are staring at her and to get to work. She tells them to find Bruno and Giorgio and to have them meet her in her office. Olga stops her and tells her she best not enter the office. Marcella looks stunned and snarls “What?!! What are you saying girl. Of course I am going to the office, because it is my office.”

Eva is in the middle of her meeting when Marcella barges in. She stops and stares at Marcella defiantly.

Marcella still in snarling mode looks around and asks what everyone is doing in her office. Then she snipes at Eva and asks her what she is doing there. Everyone gets up to leave and Eva quickly points at them and orders them to all sit back down. She Looks straight on at Marcella and says “This is the president’s office of the Arismendi Agency and for the time being I occupy it.” We have dramatic music and a death stare down.

Marcella is asking Eva how she would dare take over her office. Eva reminds her that the office belongs to the company. She is now smiling with a bit of spunk as she tells Marcella not to worry she has asked for another office for her on the floor below with the modeling agency.

Renata is with the good Dr. Garcia. He wants to know what brings her there. She tells him she will get to the point (quiero ir al grano.) He asks if she is ill. She tells him no, she is there about the document that Julio left for her sister. He tells her that was a long time ago and she told him that Justa was dead. Renata hems and ahs and finally tells him that she lied. Justa is alive. Dr. Garcia looks surprised.

Marcella is telling Eva that she will be sorry for this. Eva still smiling tells her “Perfect but in the meantime” as she walks over to the intercom and says “Olga please come and show Marcella to her office.” She looks at Marcella and addresses her as usted “When you want to talk to me about work, please make an appointment. Have a good day Señora.” She has sufficiently dismissed her and returns to the table of workers. Marcella is left speechless.

Dr. Garcia is ticked and wants to know why Renata lied to him. Renata lies and says Justa asked her to tell everyone that she was dead. She now stands up and asks him to give her the papers that Julio left for Justa. She tells him she will be sure that Justa gets them. Dr. Garcia tells her he is sorry, but he destroyed the envelope when she told him Justa was dead and the subject was closed. He tells her thank you for at least coming to him and telling him the truth.

Olga has brought Marcella to her new office. Marcella is not happy with her new digs. Olga apologizes and tells her it is the office that the Señora Eva has assigned for her. Marcella snaps back “The Señora Eva. How quickly she has changed bands.”

Eva is in her office talking on the phone to Tia Matilda and putting all of Marcella’s photos face down on the table top. Olga knocks and enters telling Eva Bruno is there and Giorgio is on his way. Bruno enters and Eva greets him. He tells her his modeling agency is associated with the Arismendi Agency. She tells him she is eager to learn more about this business.

Victoria is talking with the Dr. She tell her she wants to get pregnant as soon as possible. Can she get started with the hormone injections. The Dr. tells her not to be in such a hurry. They have to do some tests first. It is too early to make any decisions.

Giorgio shows up and enters without knocking. He greets Eva and she chews him out for being late. She tells him she doesn’t like people that are not punctual. He apologizes and tells her he was resolving certain problems. Eva tells him the next time she calls for him to come to a meeting he should stop what he is doing and show up. Giorgio starts up with attitude and tells her that he works for Marcella and is loyal to her and will only follow her orders. “Is that clear Eva?” Eva thanks him for his honesty but she won’t work with anyone that she can’t trust. She calls for Olga and tells her to call human resources so they can get his walking papers ready. She tells him “No one works here that isn’t willing to work as a team player. Is that clear?” We get yet another great stare down from a disgruntled employee.

After he leaves, Eva apologizes to Bruno telling him she knows he works for his agency at well. Old butt kisser Bruno tells her not to worry, he never did like him much. He tells her he will look for a replacement right away.

Giorgio has managed to find Marcella in her new water closet. He starts ranting on. He tells her she has to do something to get rid of that shrew (arpia.) Marcella tells him she is working on it but it is going to take time and work. He tells her he doesn’t have much time. That stupid Eva just fired him. Marcella is shocked. Marcella says now it is my turn to hit back as she pounds the table.

Eva is now taking a much needed sanity break with Don Julio and Pablito. He works really hard but finally gets the little tyke to smile.

Eva sits down and asks him if there is any other way to look glamorous and professional and present the image of a millionaire with out the torture of wearing those high heeled boots, as she pulls one off her foot. “Look how tall they make me.” He laughs with her and tells her that her sense of humor is one of her many fine qualities. She tells him lately though she can’t use it much. She has to be serious and hard. She confesses to him it is hard to be that way. She says on the outside she might look the part but on the inside she is trembling. He tells her that he hopes nobody notices and looks at it as a weakness. They will tear her to pieces.

Daniel is looking for Eva in her office. He has a balance sheet or something he has to go over with her. Olga tells him she is out but she will be happy to give them to her. He tells Olga he will return later and give them to her himself.

Eva assures Julio he won’t have to worry about her. He will be very proud of her. They continue to chat as she tells him about her little spat with Marcella. She tells him she did every thing with style. Never loosing her cool and always with a hint of disdain. He laughs and tells her he would have loved to see the face of that snake. She tells him he didn’t miss anything pretty. The shrew was about to explode at any moment.

She tells him she doesn’t know what to do to free herself from her. (I think that is what she said) She knows Marcella hates her. Julio says that is perfect as he laughs and asks for more details. She tells him about Victoria as well. She says the sun wouldn’t even warm her up. She is so afraid Eva has returned to steal her husband. Eva says “If she only knew how much I hate him.”

Deb is in Marcella’s office. Marcella starts moaning about her unfortunate set of circumstances. She says “and look at this cubby hole of an office.” She tells Deb that Eva fired Giorgio. Deb tells her she ran into him and he told her he quit out of loyalty to Marcella. Marcella accuses her of defending Eva. Deb looks hurt and asks her how she could think that. She tells Deb that Eva is signing her own death sentence. Deb looks very sad to hear all this.

Marcella is going on saying it is now her turn to fight back. This isn’t over. Deb seems concerned and asks her what she is up to. We hear a knock on the door and Alicia enters. Deb is pleasantly surprised to see her and kindly asks her how she is.

We flip back to Julio and Eva. He wants to know how things are with Leo. She tells him he has been very nice to her. Julio warns her to be careful with her dealings with him. He tells her it may sound awful coming from him because Leo is his son but she shouldn’t trust him. She tells Julio she is being careful but he is very insistent. Julio asks how things with the agency are going. She tells him things are going splendidly just like they planned. She tells him she was scared at first but after she was done everyone was really impressed. Julio smiles and tells her he knew it. She tells him she feels she is finally doing what he asked her to.

Marcella rags on Alicia for not addressing her as Doña and gives her a piece of paper. Alicia asks what it is and Marcella tells her it is her walking papers. Alicia is quite confused and says why. Marcella snips back and says because I felt like it. Deb is looking on with even more concern as Marcella tells Alicia to gather her things and get out. Alicia starts yelling back and tells her “You can’t fire me just because she feel like it. I am doing my job.” Marcella tells her “It is simple. I don’t want the sister of that woman working in my agency!!” Deb asks Marcella who she is talking about. Marcella tells her she is talking about Eva the thief. Alicia is protesting telling Marcella that her sister isn’t a thief and as much as this hurts Marcella to the soul all of this is no longer hers. (I think) She rips the papers stomps off and tells her she is going to go talk to Eva. Deb is left alone with her thoughts as she says “Oh my God. This is my daughter Alicia.”

Eva returns to her office and finds a rose on the table and Leo approaching her.

(Take a look at the out fit this creep is wearing.)
He is feeding her some line. He tells her he is in the world to fulfill her wishes. Eva looks sad and Leo tells her she looks tired. She tells him she is. She tells him she had to confront his mother, Victoria and Daniel. She tells him it is a really difficult task (tarea.) Leo tells her he understands. She tells him something else how she is capable of doing this job, or something like that.

Leo warns her that things could get dangerous with his mother. He tells her it is hard for him to, because she is his mother and it is hard to see her go through all this. He tells her she can count on him for his help. He knows she is a great person and fair and won’t harm anyone. She says something about Marcella wanting to do nothing but harm to her.

Dr. Garcia is telling Julio he is doing great. Like a bull after the run. Julio laughs but Dr. Garcia warns him that he has to continue with his treatments. His heart has to beat for a long time.

Leo is making more moves on Eva. He tells her he could spend the rest of his life with her. Eva wisely gets up and walks away from him. She tells him he is acting suspicious saying all those things. He walks after her and says “ No I am completely in love with you.” Oh thank goodness, Daniel finally walks in. Leo gives him the fish eye as Eva says “Your interrupting once again. But come on in, don’t worry.” She thanks Leo for the flower. He kisses her hand and says it was nothing he will see her at the house. He nudges Daniel on his way out as he says “See ya bro.”

Eva is standing there smiling, smelling the rose as Daniel glares at her.

Don Julio is asking Dr. Garcia what he is keeping from him. He tells Julio he has great news. Julio is like a child saying tell me tell me. Dr. Garcia says “You were right Julio, Justa is a live.” This brings Julio to his feet quickly and is left speechless.

Daniel tells Eva he has the balance sheets she asked for. Eva is still fiddling with the rose as she tells Daniel the next time he enters her office to knock first or be announced. Daniel is ticked and tells her they are at a work place. She should lock her door if she is having an intimate moment. She snaps back “This is my office and I will do what I want.” He reminds her he is her associate and it isn’t right if someone should walk in on a compromising situation. Eva now with a huge grin on her face says “Calm down Daniel. You are really upset. I was just talking with Leo. What’s wrong? Are you jealous?”

Daniel quickly grabs her and spins her around and they are literally touching noses as he asks,

“ What are you doing? Do you want me to kiss you? Is that what you want?” And we end with longing looks,

I added some pictures from last nights award show. Hope you enjoy them.

La Verdad Oculta #107: Bertha gets Carlos's goodies

David must leave for the hotel office; but if Abelardo hears anything from this so-called lawyer who doesn't look like a lawyer, "Silverio Rodriguez," he is to alert David immediately. At the state penitentiary, when Leonardo surprises Marcos with Elsa's smuggling charge, he's sure she's been framed by Susana's murderers.

In a restaurant, Édgar phones to make a meeting with Carmelo after insisting to Valentín they must stick with him and squeeze as much as possible out of this deal. At Mario's, when Asunción gets down on himself for everyone providing better for Caramelo than he, Abelardo decides to tell him his own success story.

Upstairs, preoccupied Gabriela rushes in grasping a small, elongated pink box and hastily reads the instructions before disappearing into the powder room. Across the hall, Detective Chicles plays doctor with Secret Agent Caramelo's baby doll, who has swallowed the infamous troublesome letter, which crazy grownups are so strange about.

But Caramelo reminds Chicles the real letter is in the mattress. Back in Gabriela's room, she bounces on the bed reading a "pink" test result and excitedly grabs the phone to get Alejandra over there. Downstairs in the kitchen Abelardo relates to Asunción getting booted out of university and his marriage for violent drunkenness.

After he hit his wife, she simply packed up and left; and he was just about to reach bottom when luck struck and he secured at job at a Campo Real hotel. Back upstairs, Alejandra rushes in to to hear the joyful news that Gabriela is pregnant! In the kitchen, Abelardo recounts the chance he got to slowly work into hotel administration.

But when Abelardo earnestly swears the temptation to drink was always there, comical Asunción glances warily behind himself like Abelardo's temptation might be a tangible thing, a little gargoyle perched atop the china cabinet. Abelardo credits hard work and the help of Mario bringing him back among the living.

Across town at a pool hall, Édgar convinces Carmelo that the "three" of them are a team, whereupon Carmelo guesses a third guy must be Dante's "pet cat," Valentín. When Édgar points out Valentín knows lots of things to make them money, Carmelo agrees to split the spoils three ways evenly and asks how to find Adolfo.

Back in Mario's kitchen, when Asunción explains Caramelo's story and that he's always regretted being so ignorant and not able to do better by her, kind Abelardo offers to tutor him personally -- whereupon excited Asunción offers to loan Abelardo his toupé in gratitude.

"Lic. Rodríguez" appears at Adolfo's Sagittarius office and is just about to be thrown out when Adolfo hears him mention the infamous shoes and relents. Adolfo becomes intensely interested at the sight of one of the diamonds, but "Rodríguez" leaves him hanging with only a business card and promise to call before exiting.

In Gabriela's bedroom suite, she's worrying to Alejandra about her and the baby's legal status when suddenly David shouts up the stairs, and Gabriela rushes down to jump into his arms. She makes David sit down before revealing the amazing news that they're going to be parents.

As they swing around with happy Abelardo and Asunción looking on, "Mario" enters and gets into the tearful, joyful family embrace with his children. In Adolfo's penthouse, he's doing poorly and relieved to see friendly Bertha enter. She's left it up to him about resuming the wedding, but now he wants to make it happen.

At Mario's, the adults celebrate with champagne; and Gabriela promises to let Caramelo help with the baby when it comes. More seriously, Gabriela concerns "Mario" and the others by insisting on a DNA test with him to clear up her legal identity.

Later at the penthouse Adolfo and Bertha tie the knot before witnesses Dante and Jimena and a judge and his assistant. The happy couple look ecstatic there and later at their sumptuous intimate wedding dinner together, where Adolfo discusses the infamous contract with Bertha's uncle.

Bertha's tantalized to hear they could get double their money if Mario dies of a brain tumor, but disgusted to think horrible David and that waitress will get half if he does not. Her train of thought is following just where Adolfo is leading, so he springs on Bertha the news that the waitress is actually Mario's daughter.

Bertha almost chokes in disbelief; and doesn't she think they ought to do something about it, Adolfo asks while ripping apart a lobster claw. Back at Mario's, David and Abelardo get agitated Santiago to agree to put his Santiago personage into a sort of witness protection program to avoid Adolfo -- and remain "Mario" 24-7 for the time being until Adolfo's brought down.

Across the alley at competitive Juan José's, he tries to enlist Alejandra to keep up with the Genovés and get busy on the baby wagon. She can't go along with his Arab sheik plan for a houseful of kids, since that requires a houseful of wives -- and he can't tolerate that idea either, being a one-man woman now.

Abelardo calls from Mario's office to fill in Leonardo on their Santiago witness-protection plan, and he approves. Upstairs David tries to convince Gabriela to lay off the DNA test and believe Mario; but when she insists on straightening out her legal name, he counsels they have time and that completing Adolfo's contract is crucial now.

Next morning David continues and explains Adolfo knows her dad is really Santiago Guzmán, who will have to disappear for a while. At a gym, the three thugs plot how to turn Dante and Adolfo against each other, while extracting as much cash as possible from them and the Genovés -- by raising Garnica from the dead.

Valentín copied everything in Garnica's safe: the map -- everything. On the patio at Mario's, "Mario" and Abelardo are just telling Asunción about the diamond shoe caper over a game of dominoes, when Adolfo bursts through the front door, through the house and braces "Mario" with his knowledge of Santiago's identity.

Privately in his office, "Mario" relishes a huge belly laugh finally after throwing in Adolfo's face that someone played him a fool switching the fake cuff link ring on him. And Adolfo better hope Santiago does not talk to the police and testify against him! Thwarted Adolfo stalks out in a huff swearing to wipe that smile off "Mario's" face.

Back at the gym, it gets even better for the thugs when Valentín adds he possesses all the passwords for all zombie Garnica's email accounts, his bank account numbers -- and the PINs for all his credit and debit cards! Frosting on the top is that Édgar stole Garnica's credit card wallet before deep sixing him.

Carmelo is beginning to feel very friendly toward Valentín now, who lays out more proof they can use to insinuate that Garnica lives -- and retains the map copy, the diamond shoes; and Édgar piles on the infamous letter, too.

From a Babies 'R Us store, deliriously happy Gabriela phones Julieta about her pregnancy; but dampens the mood with news Adolfo's trying to unmask Santiago and that their dad will disappear for a while. Suddenly when there's a banging at the door, it's Adolfo and Julieta calls down for Leonardo to come up and rescue her.

Triunfo del Amor #33 2/16/11 A Triumph of Frustration

As Viewerville settles in for tonight's episode, Vic is arriving home and asking Max where Os is. She has to talk to him. She's very agitated. She begins "It's something that happened years ago. It's complicated." Fer bounds in from upstairs with a drawing. She is trying hard to please her mommy.

Mommy doesn't have time and dismisses her. Max takes her to task for being so mean to Fer. The phone rings and our pal Burnie is on the other line. She needs to talk to Osvaldo. She knows things about Victoria he needs to know. Victoria has been deceiving people for years. She goes on, but Fausto hangs up the phone mid-threat.

Burnie is burning with anger. How dare Fausto stop her as she performs her dastardly deeds. Fuasto eerily explains that he understands her hatred, but that her revenge needs to be done little by  little. Like a poison. Burnie is ever so grateful and Fausto continues. He tells her that Victoria will get hers and that as long as he and Burnie stick together nothing will be able to save Vic.

Back at Casa Sandisfuncional, Vic wants to know who was on the phone and what they wanted. Max doesn't know, but whoever it was said that Vic wasn't what she seems. They seemed to know about us, too. Victoria wants to know if it was a man or a woman. When she hears it's a woman, the thought bubbles: Bernarda! She's declared war on me and won't stop until she destroys me.

Meanwhile, in the Barrio....
Nati has left a note for María about going to Bombero Festivities with JuanJo since his novio is a ho and is gettin' it on with Osvaldo (or something similar, maybe that's not exactly what it said. I took some recapper license.) María tears up the paper (and probably wishes it was LindaHo's face.) The phone rings. It's Max. He wants to come see her. She'll be waiting for him.

Max is worried about Mom. He mumbles something. Vic says she has some suspicions but she needs to confirm them. (So I assume his question is about the phone call.) Vic says after she talks/confesses to Os, she'll let Max know what's going on. (Don't hold your breath Max.) Max leaves and Vic calls Burnie and wants to know what she wants from her. Burnie tells her to come to the house and she will tell her. ("Will you come into my parlor?" said the spider to the fly.)

Milagros and the Merry Elves (and JP) FF>>

Victoria has arrived at Burnie's. All Burnie wants is for Vic to lie and say the baby was not JP's. Victoria says that will not happen. Burnie tells Vic she doesn't know what hell awaits her. Victoria says no hell is worse than what's she's been living and that everyone will pay for what happened.

Desfile de Bomberos and a bad band FF>>

Fútbool with chipmunk speed  aciton FF>> ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡GOOOOOOLLLL para M'cito! GOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL!!!!!

Oscar is at the Casa de Modos in mild flip out mode. "Ya'll KNEW???! !!! Y'all knew Os was a lying cheating, skankho-schtupping bastard and you didn't say anyting???!! (again, I may have taken some recapper liberties.)

PipToni responds that they sort of found out accidentally, too and decided not to say anything so Vic wouldn't  suffer and the family wouldn't fall apart.

Oscar says he's gonna confront Os. (The way things have been going in this TN, that could take another month or two.)

Jimmie, MamaRox and Vic are in the office doing air kissies. Vic mentions the Nair facial and MamaRox tells her not to worry. The three sit. Jimmie and MamaRox would rather be comfy when they start shoveling mierda about Maria. She's a gold-digger. She's deceiving Max. Jimmie turns on some tears so Vic will think she's really upset and not just faking. MamaRox doesn't want to see Max marry someone beneath him (Well, I don't want to see him marry someone beneath Gui. She may have diseases and stuff. Ew.) Vic vows to do everything possible to get Max to return to Jimmie.

Maria sees Max driving up. Their theme song begins. She leaves the door ajar and decides to fake being asleep. Max sneaks in and tries to wake her. She fakes sleep really well. I think Max starts to get a little worried. She finally "wakes up." They kiss and mumble into each others mouths. I gather it's mushy stuff. Something about skin and her head (mente.) They'll always be together. After the commercial break, Maria notices Max is preoccupied. He's worried and there is just weird stuff going on at home.

Street fair. Milagros and the Merry Elves. Talk of traditional Mexican food. There's some Milagros/Napo banter FF>>

In Maria's apartment, Max is telling Maria about the events that happened earlier. He says his mom was about to tell him something about things that happened years ago. Then Fer interrupted, then the phone rang. Maria tries to explain it away. Max said this person knew us really well.

Cut to Burnie contemplating Vic's fall.

Max is all confused and wanted to talk to Maria and get her take on things. She reminds him that she didn't have parents, but that his parents love each other and love conquers all blah blah.

The doorbell is ringing at Casa Diablo and Burnie asks Eva to tell whoever it is she isn't home. It's JP and Eva can't get rid of him. Burnie channels her Jewish mother and says not only does he shame me with his actions, he's dedicating himself to offending her. (And he never calls.) JP insists he never meant to hurt her and wants her forgiveness. Burnie asks him to forget all this Vic/Hija business and dedicate himself to praying for her soul. JP asks the million dollar question "what is it you have done to fear hell soooo much?"

Maria is asking Max if she'll come with her to visit Burnie.

At the bombero festivities JuanJo and Nati are busting balloons. He wins a prize and gives it to Nati. "Nati!" I yell at the TV "don't forget Fabian!Fabiaaaan."

Eva and Fausto listen at the door as Burnie rails against Victoria. She wishes she were dead so her soul could rest in peace. JP says she will find no peace until she lets go of the hate. Burnie talks about him having a daughter and being a priest. JP reminds her he was a seminarian when it happened. Not a priest. He hadn't taken his vows. Besides, he isn't running around saying he's looking for HIS daughter, rather the daughter of Victoria. Burnie is still pissed. JP leaves a rosary with her (I may have missed a few things.) Eva and Fausto slink away and Burnie says "You've betrayed me!"

Milagros etc. with BB guns FF>>

Fer is in her room. Victoria enters. Fer sort of pouts and says she always seems to interrupt. She tears up her little drawing (aw. I kinda feel bad for the kid.) Vic asks for forgiveness. Fer says her feelings are really hurt. Vic reminds Fer about the time she told her that she made a mistake when she was young. "Well, I hurt a lot of people and I've caused a lot of suffering. One day I'll tell you all about it, but not now." (And not for a long while is my guess.) Fer says sometimes she doesn't understand her mother, but she loves her.

Victoria starts with the heaving sobs. *eye rolls* Oh for pity's sake. Get a hold of yourself.

Fer says Vic can tell her when she's ready. She'll never condemn her. (That's great Fer, but we've all been waiting for quite a while for Vic to finally tell someone and you aren't helping our case.)

Mi hijas and hugs all around.

Nati talks to Señora Preggers at the fair. Señora Preggers has noticed Nati likes JuanJo. Nati explains JuanJo has a girlfriend and it's complicated. Nait gives Preggers the little prize JuanJo have her. Preggers asks Nati to be the madrina (godmother) of the baby. Seemed a bit sudden to me, but who am I to judge? May I remind Nati to think about JuanJo in a towel? Surely that will smack some sense into her.

Maria Desinformada is visiting Burnie who is playing the pity card. (Has anyone noticed that Burnie strokes her forehead...a lot...) Burnie whines about JP and being alone. But Maria assures her she will never abandon her. Boy she's dumb.

Vic is in her bedroom crying and Os the Rat Bastard comes in with the Mexican version of Moonlight and Magnolias. Then he notices she's crying. Victoria talks about all their problems. She want's to know what happened. Os says he wants to tell her something. She shushes him. They kind of dance a little and she talks about when they first met. The early days. Yada Yada. Meanwhile, Luis Miguel keeps telling us to "Oye la confesión." Well, wouldn't we just love to? Now that song is just mocking us all....They start smooching and he carries her to the bed and still there is no confession. From either of them.

Back at Burnie's, María is saying how nice it is they met and that such wonderful affection grew between them. Yes, Burnie says. Such a familial feeling. María asks if she lives alone. Burnie says just her and her demon minions since JP has pretty much abandoned her. "No other childern or grandchildren?" Maria asks. "No" sighs Burnie, "God gave me the one child who is dedicated to serve Him. I don't need anyone ." Max enters. Introductions are made and they recognize each other. Staring contest. Max says he knows Burnie. Maria thinks not. "Oh no," says Max. "We know each other. My mother and she were arguing in her office once." Burnie spits "Yup. You're Victoria's stepson."

Cue the Kayak.

Llena de Amor #131 (Mex. 136) Wed 2/16/11 A Showdown In The Ice Cream Parlor And A Hot And Heavy Stroll Down Memory Lane

We begin this evening's festivities with a showdown in the ice cream parlor. And end with a smoldering walk down Memory Lane. Lots of fun tonight.

Ice cream-wise, Emanuel's frothing at the mouth because Jorge's about to kiss Vicky. No way will he let that happen.
Shoving Ilitia aside, he and Jorge go nose to nose and chest to chest, each vowing a smackdown of the other, until Ilitia manages to drag Emanuel off. Along trails Manzanita, quite miffed that they have to leave just when things were getting interesting! And lest we forget that this little gal is the brightest in the bunch, she notes that she doesn't think much of Jorge...doesn't like the way he looks at her.

Okay folks. That's it. We know now for sure that Jorge is a bad hombre. Manzanita, our kid with the street smarts, has spoken.

Kristel, devoid of street smarts or any other kind, is rubbing her lip sensuously and wondering just what it is about Lorenzo that keeps her Mama coming back for more.
(All together now...Euuuwwwwwww!)

Lover Lorenzo is at this moment groveling to Garduño and pleading for a big loan (to pay back the money he embezzled from the agency.) Garduño reminds him that if the heist goes off as planned tomorrow, he'll have more money than he needs. Lorenzo kvetches that he's afraid Mauricio will mess it up. How can Garduño trust him? He's my right hand man. And he's never betrayed me like you have, is the curt reply.

While the menfolk are battling over women or planning crimes, Netty and Gladiola are beating the bejesus out of a sofa and cleaning up the pension. Time to celebrate that Eugenio has found the papers clearing Eva's name and getting the house back for Marianela. And even better, sending Fedra Curiel to jail!

Qué!? It's Emiliano, still grappling with yesterday's script and behind the times as usual. So he wants the 411 from Netty but she's in no mood to talk about it. After all, he's chosen to stay with Fedra.

E: Yes, but only to protect my children. I sleep in the guest room. Haven't touched her in two years.
Netty and Gladiola look stunned. And then meltingly ahhhhhhhh.

Mientras tanto, back at the agency, Vicky is fretting as usual. She's sure Emanuel is going to rush to the boarding house and tell Netty that she and Jorge were k.i.s.s.i.n.g.! Well, let's rush home and explain it all, they decide.

Explanations are going on at the judge's office as well. His amorous (and presumably surfeited and satisfied ) secretary swears it was a robbery. She had to open the safe. They had guns! Fedra Curiel must be behind this, ponders the judge. Secretary looks amazed at this supposition. But what the hey...as long as he doesn't think it's her.

Netty has recovered from her ahhhhhh melting moment and is back on well-trod ground.

N:Fedra will never let us be free to love each other.
E: But my heart is free. Y la dueña de mi corazón eres tú. (and my heart belongs to you)
N: I can't marry a heart. I need a man. A man who doesn't keep me waiting year after year after year.
E: Who!? Is that doctor after you again? Or is it the lawyer?
N: Go. Forget me. Even if you leave your wife...my love is dead and buried (muerto y enterrado).

Oh my. How many times have they broken up now? Sit tight. We know they'll be together in the end.

But Ilitia and Emanuel? Don't think so. They're back at the mansion, Manzanita in tow, and Ilitia's still trying to play Happy Families. Why don't the three of us take a dip in the pool? Why don't you and I go to the park and leave "la sangrona" (the pain in the butt) here? whispers Manzanita to Emanuel. Well, our little gal is dispatched to the kitchen while the big folks continue their discussion. Ilitia, still very unredeemed, opines that Jorge is a looker and it's fine if he cheats on that whale he married. Emanuel takes umbrage at that, and then points out that Ilitia should be cozying up to her half-brother Christian, rather than try and suborn Manzanita.

For sure, Ilitia is Low's daughter because she makes up another whopper on the spot. It's so sad. Her dad has persuaded Muñeca to send Manzanita back to the foster home. But...if we adopt her, we could give her a "verdadero hogar" (a true home), just like I had growing up. Stay tuned to see how this plays out.

Back at the agency, our hungry lawyer has once again cadged free coffee and cookies before finally divulging the reason for his visit. He must have the same heebie-jeebies about Jorge that we do, because he wants him to leave before discussing his find. Nope. Jorge is Marianela's husband, sez Vicky. He has a right to know everything. Oh, in that case...lawyer touches Jorge's arm. Jorge looks offended like he might have cooties. (Clearly he's a bad guy!) But there's good news: They have proof that Fedra falsified the papers which disinherited Marianela. What's more he has proof from a handwriting expert (prueba grafologico) that Evan Pavón did not sign those papers. So now he's going to charge Fedra with fraud (entablar una demanda). Vicky's relieved. Now she can relax. Fedra's going to jail. No! snaps Jorge. Not until you charge her also with the deaths of your parents and Tia Carlota. Guess we're going to be stuck with Vengeful Vicky for a little bit longer. Or a lot.

And stuck with crafty and clever Ilitia as well. She's approaching Mission Manzanita from a new angle. She knows what it's like to be lonely, rejected. That's why she wants to give Manzanita a loving home with her and Emanuel.

She's selling. He's not buying. Our marriage is over, he reminds her.

And just like that, a full moon appears.

And we find ourselves in a smokey port bar. Our Capitán limps in and asks for a tequila....on the house. "Si no hay dinero, no hay cariño" (no money, no love) mutters the barkeep. Not even for an old sea wolf (viejo lobo de mar) like me? queries Chema.

Shoot, just when things were getting interesting, the scene changes. Vicky, Jorge and Doris are racing back to the pension to talk to Netty before Emanuel does. Jorge's not worried but Doris reminds him he has no idea what her madrina (godmother) is like when she's mad. But in the meantime, she pleads with Vicky to finally let go of this need for vengeance. No! snaps Jorge again. Fedra's got to pay! (Clearly our fluffy little Spaniard hasn't read the book on love, peace and forgiveness.)

Neither has Fedra. When she learns that Judge Pantoja no longer has the papers she needs, she grabs him around the neck and vows to kill him. No wait, mutters Bernardo. We'll take care of him later
Er yes, stammers Pantoja, give me some time to get the documents back. You won't gain anything by killing me now. Alright, snarls Fedra, but if you don't, you won't have a plugged nickel to put in the box we'll bury you in!

Ah mortality. It seems to be seeping into our little comedy. First Fedra's death was foretold. And now our Capitàn, whom we've just met for goshsakes, is telling his old pal the barkeep that he's not long for this world. Ah c'mon, you've got a few gray hairs (un par de canas) but...... No, sighs Chema. I'm sick. And I'm really going to die.

But not before saving the honor of a port bar floozy.

Some lout (patán) staggers out, manhandling a woman who hasn't put out for him. And after he paid in advance! Chema leaps to his feet, manages to subdue the creep with a full well-aimed punches and kicks,
and is ready to sit down and drink some more. Our rescued damsel though, would like to thank him in a more direct way. What can I do for you, sailor? she whispers throatily.

Be happy. Go outside. Look at the stars. Treasure Life. Because it can turn on you in a moment, answers our poetic hero. Deep Thoughts. Now we know for sure he's Emanuel's dad.

She has a Qué the hell look on her face but Chema doesn't notice. He's taking a walk through Memory Lane now, remembering his first encounter with young Juana Felipe. Hold your horses though. Not yet. We have to get through another scene with Vicky Vicious first.

Vicky and Jorge arrive to find Netty crying. They're sure it's because she's heard about the smooching and spill the beans themselves. Netty morphs into Ninja mode and slaps Jorge a good one for betraying Marianela.
Jorge calmly asserts that he loves Vicky but he also loves Marianela. That earns him a second slap....from Gladiola. You can't love two women at once! she snaps. Indeed. Vicky and Marianela are one and the same, he ripostes. And we have caras impactadas all 'round.

After the ads, Vicky's in full nit mode but Jorge assures her the best way to protect Netty is to tell her the truth. Netty has now morphed from Ninja to Auntie Wronged. For two years she's suffered, worried about her Marianela, longed to hold her in her arms etc. etc. etc. Of course we have the request for instant forgiveness and by golly she gets it. Next thing you know, Netty has Vicky in a close embrace, murmuring my little Marianela, my little one. Ahhh...

Tired of that? Me too. Back to Kristel and her mirror. She's bored. Calls her chiquibú and wants him to take her out. Can't, snaps Mau. I'm busy. And hangs up.

Oooh. Harsh. So back to the boarding house and the weak ass justifications. Netty, we couldn't tell you because we couldn't put your life at risk! (Mind you, Netty's life and others have been at risk numerous times, since evidently there's no lock on the door and Fedra and Bernardo come and go as they please. But I digress....) Doris explains her part in the disguises. And Netty finally tells Gladiola about Gretel's disguise as Manolo as well. Okay. Time for Mama Glad to grill Doris. And Jorge. She orders them to the kitchen for a cup of coffee, leaving Netty and Marianela to talk alone.

But while Netty and Mari renew their hugs, Jorge regards the scene with a sinister look and thought bubbles I must gain points with Netty in order to win over Marianela. That's why I told her Vicky and Mari are one and the same.

Okay. Definitely. A. Bad. Guy. Punto.

But Bad Guys have their charm. Kristel, still bored, is now remembering her conversation with Lorenzo. And how he asked for just one night...one night only....to show her how a real man could love her up.

So she dials again. This time Low's number. Hola. Estoy hiper aburrida. Let's go out. Nope. He's busy too. Well dang. Get unbusy. Because this is your only chance. It's "up to you" she adds in English. But you blew it.

Mau wants to know who called. Lorenzo fibs that it was Muñeca, wanting him to take her out to dinner. The two lads commiserate on what frivolous drags these womenfolk are.

The next phone call is better. It's about bidness. The deal is on. It's "pan comido" (a piece of cake) and "nos vamos a forrar de billetes" (we're going to make a mint of money). That is, as long as their (Lorenzo's and Mauricio's) stupid rivalry doesn't mess things up, cautions Garduño. If you mess this up, you will pay dearly. You follow me?

More ads and we're back at the police station. Oliver and Gretelman are kissing as usual. But Brandon busts that up with the good news that the hunt is on. The deal (entrega de mercancia ilegal) is set. Sure it's not a trap? asks Oliver. Nope. It squares with the info we've gotten from our snitches (soplones).

At last. Memory Lane here we come. Chema, with the grateful floozy still smoldering with gratitude behind him, is remembering the first time he rescued a girl of the streets. Yep, it's our young Juana Felipe, shaking her booty for all it's worth and I have to say her chair dance is a lot better than Fedra's.
And young Chema is quite the attractive guy as well. (Let's have more flashbacks, writers! I could get into this.)

Anyway. Same deal. Toothsome lass shaking her talented hips. Drunken louts getting fresh. And not gonna pay for it either. Not for a tramp like you! Juana, clearly with no self-esteem problems, snarls that she's a Lady, a Queen, and if they don't pay in advance, they don't get no lovin' no how. Capitán Sevilla's down with that. He respectfully introduces himself (a tus pies) and wonders what she's doing in a dump (tugurio) like this.

Juana: Waiting for the Man of my Life.

Yes indeed, they were meant for each other. But they couldn't escape their demons. The dream turned into a nightmare. But they gave love. They got love.
(Back at the mansion, Fedra is also remembering their incandescent lovemaking). And no one can take his memories away from him, concludes Chema.

Shoot. We're back at the boarding house. Netty and Mari are still sorting out the past. And no, the poison wasn't what transformed Mari into a skinny bitch. It was the doctors warning her that obesity would kill her as sure as poison would. She learned to take care of herself, exercise, and choose her food wisely. PSA complete for this evening. Back to the drama. Netty wants to focus on the positive. Getting the money and the mansion back. Not on the negative. Hate. Rancor. Yuck! That's not her Marianela.

Oh yes it is, insists the New Mari. I've suffered too much. But people love you, counters Netty. Emanuel loves you. Pay attention to that! He really loves you!

And right on cue, with a Buenas Noches, Emanuel walks in.

The End. (for now)

La Fea Más Bella #215-216 2/16/11 A Proposal Not Made, A Visit Not Dreamt, A Pearl Not Given

Capitulo 215.
Read Amanda’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Aldo takes Alicia to a Mexican restaurant – que horror! He dodges her questions about his work, and finally she asks, “How much money do you expect to earn?” Then she asks him to loan her 500K pesos. Aldo counsels against materialism.

2. At the apartment, Fernando makes small talk, asking Marcia what’s up between Alicia and Aldo. Marcia suggests that he wants them together so Aldo will leave Lety alone. Fern gets mad – her obsession with Lety poisons everything. He tries to have a civil conversation and she has to start on him again. He leaves the table.

3. Lety tells MamaJ that her story has become the office gossip, and Lety feels bad for Marcia. Mama suggests that Lety invite Aldo for breakfast. Mama says it sounds like Aldo is more than a friend. Lety says she can’t get Fernando out of her head.

4. Tom spies on Ali and Aldo at the restaurant. She reads Aldo’s palm and says he was reincarnated from his own father. And he has big hands. (That’s true; they’re unusually broad. When his hand is on Lety’s face, it looks like a ping-pong paddle!) Aldo spews his deep thoughts to Alicia. She has no idea what he’s talking about, so she assumes he must be proposing, and she accepts.

5. Marcia invites Fern to come to bed with her. He says he needs to take a walk.

6. Sanchez wants to take Sara out for drinks. She insists that the cuartel come along as chaparones. It’s probably the stupidest filler of the series.

Capitulo 216.
Read k-Fuego’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Fernando pulls up in front of Lety’s house and starts singing, “I have often walked down this street before..” Psychic Guy prays that Fernando and Lety can meet without hatred so they can forgive. Lety suddenly feels like Fernando is close. Personally I think his song wakened her. He says to himself, “If only you believed me. If you knew what I really feel for you.” She steps to the window and is startled to see him on the street. When she looks again he’s not there, and she wonders if she only dreamt it.

2. Finally the endless day, the 15 episode day, is finished. Morning dawns rainy in the DF.

3. Aldo looks at the pearl he’s going to give Lety when he tells her he loves her. He remembers when he kissed her in the ocean. But Lety’s too upset to listen. She tells him about Fernando outside her window last night. Aldo mutters, “Once again it’s Fernando.” He knows that it’s not the right time, but he drops the pearl as he reaches into his pocket.

4. Lety wants to get Fern out of her heart and asks Aldo how. Accept that Fern keeps hurting her, stop thinking about him, and realize he’s not like she thinks he is. Lety agrees and thanks Aldo for his compassion. He says, “Do you think I’m only doing this for compassion?” He reaches for the pearl, and it’s gone. He panics because that was the symbol of his love.

5. Fern goes to Lety’s office early and sits in her chair to feel close to her. He writes his initials in her sandbox and mocks the painting; he says it doesn’t belong there. He left Marcia’s before she woke up because he can’t stand being with her. Fern turns the shell painting upside-down before he leaves.

6. Erasmo is grumbly about Aldo visiting so early. Aldo tells him about the beauty of the sunrise. We see Tom’s house for the first time ever. Aldo charms Erasmo.

7. Lety arrives at work in her new car. Ali arrives in the micro.
