Cuando Me Enamoro #36 Thursday 6/9/11 Play Selene For Me

Recap delayed due to the Copa Oro. Congratulations to Mexico for winning their second game out of two!!

And that’s all the celebrating for tonight because it’s back to the double crossing tricks of Fina and her devil spawn...

Last night we left Matias in the garden drinkin and thinkin that Jero’s not a bad guy no matter how mad he is that Renata loves him. (Is that a topiary chicken in the background?) He can’t blame Jero for wanting the kids and family with Renata, the woman HE loves. Father and son bond over not being able to have the women they love. They both fear that Nata will be far from them forever.

Allrighty then, as we suspected from last night’s episode Roberta is all over the news that Rafa is dead. Fina tries “he probably has more than one brother!” Nope, Rob is like a deranged terrier with a dirty sock. Jero only had ONE brother, and if he left Jero the farm then it was RAFA! And now Renata’s going to life at the hacienda that Rafa bought for HER! Roberta hysterically shrieks Rafa didn't jilt her, he died! Fina denies it, says Rafa dumped her because he found out Fina would disinherit Roberta if she married Rafa. Fina keeps harping, “Remember the letter? Remember the letter?” She is referring to the letter that she herself wrote with Rafa’s signature telling Roberta he was dumping her because he could not marry her without her family’s fortune and connections. (I wonder, did Roberta save the letter in her own mother’s handwriting allegedly written by Rafael?)

Roberta, now completely distraught, weeps that in spite of everything she loved Rafa and the times she spent with him were the happiest of her life. She’s going to the hacienda to find out what happened! Fina pushes her back on the bed, tells her to shut it and never expose her relationship with Rafa to her dad or bro. While Fina rolls her eyes she fake-comforts Roberta who is crumpled and weeping. Am I the only one who feels terribly sorry for Roberta at this moment? How different her life might have been if only mommy hadn’t killed the only person who truly loved her.

Renata calls Jero to tell him how delighted her family was at the news of their impending marriage, NOT. She gives him the 411, they think he’s a traitor but tough-o because she and he are going to live on his brother’s hacienda and be happy forever because their love is stronger than anything, right?

Gonzo wanders around his office talking to himself. He admires Renata because she puts her strong love in front of everything. The Gonzo/Regina music plays and he says not everyone has her courage, meaning himself of course. Split screen with Regina calling herself a liar for accepting Tony in spite of her true feelings. They sigh in unison, awwww.

Next morning Renata rubs heads with her favorite stallion, er correction mare, (the white one with four legs). I see she’s wearing short shorts and high heels; she must be ready for her first day at her new job. Gonzo joins her, he wants to do something for the wedding but she says not necessary, it’s going to be an intimate affair and Jero has no family. Gonzo wants a wedding befitting his princess with the most spectacular dress, etc. He tells her she’s always been the favorite darling of his heart and she slyly laughs that she knows, and he of hers.

Creepy music and Fina joins Jero at a restaurant so she can ruin his breakfast and his life. Apparently he called her. She demands what sort of game he’s playing. He says no game, it’s love. She cackles, doesn’t he mind that Renata was with his brother? He won’t let it affect his future, he loves Renata. She says he has disillusioned her, doesn’t he have any dignity? What if Renata never admits her relationship with Rafa? He answers then Fina can rest assured that the secret will remain buried along with Rafael. He’s decided to take Renata to the hacienda so they can far from everything and...everyone. She tells him she’s only concerned about her daughter blah blah go then if you must, and never return.

Back at the stables Mat and Honorio are getting ready for a ride. Honorio’s heard about Renata’s marriage plans. Gonzo says according to Mat Jero’s a good guy but something about it worries him, something he can’t put his finger on. He’s not convinced that marriage to Jero or moving to the hacienda is a good idea for Renata.

Renata tells her almost-new now-not-future boss that she can’t accept the job because she’s going to get married and move out of the city.

Jero shops for a ring, “something simple”, when a pair of earrings catch his eye. They are stylized to look like bunches of grapes, and frankly I think they are fabulous! The salesgirl said a man designed them and had them created for a special woman but he never came to pick them up. How odd. Would he like to purchase them for his special woman? Jero shakes his head and declines, saying she doesn’t deserve them. (What? Dude! $#%*!!!!)

It looks like Renata’s “new boss” is one of Augustin’s associates. He tells Augie that he hired her not as a favor to Augie but because she would be a great asset to their company, but bad news, she declined the job because she’s going to get married. No puede ser! Augie wants to know with whom. New Boss doesn’t know but she’s very much in love and moving to the country. Augie snarls.

Fina returns home where Rob waits to hear the news of Rafa. Fina lies to her daughter, she met with Jero, confirmed Rafa died but she doesn’t know the details, it was some sort of accident. (Mentiras!!) Roberta can’t understand how Jero could be in Mexico all this time and not reveal anything about losing his brother. Fina says he’s one of those guys who hides his feelings. (Oh Fina, if you only knew.) Rob wants to tell him right now what a lout his brother was and she’s expecting his child. Fina nixes this idea and continues to lie to Rob to fill her head full of poison and doubts.

Regina and Coni are stuffing envelopes and Regina is bummed that Renata plans to leave. She likes young folk around and hopes Selene will be a good replacement. Coni comments if she’s anything like Roberta she’s just sniffing around to be close to Chema. Regina thinks that’s cool if it ends up helping the center, could help Sele too.

Oh ick, back to Momma Mean and Mini-Mean. Mom tells her that Jero thinks Renata is La Bonita and she (mom) wants it that way. Mini can’t understand why, if Jero thinks that, he would marry Renata. Fina surmises it’s because at heart Jero is just as bad as Rafa.

Renata visits a bedridden Aggie to cheer Ag and Adri up with her engagement news. Once again Aggie begs Renata to never abandon Adri. They shriek and twitter gleefully over the wedding plans.

Jero runs into Matias. Matias says they need to talk about Renata. Gasp! Cara impacatada de Matias, then Jero, then Matias, then both of them on split screen.

Gah! Enough already with these two. Fina goes on to say that Jero wants to marry Renata for her money just like Rafa only Jero is more patient. He’s waiting for the perfect opportunity to show his claws. Roberta hopes they suffer just like Rafa and she. Fina assures Rob she’ll eventually win. If Renata marries Jero then Roberta can take the place of the favored daughter in the family and when that happens she'll reign triumphant. She who laughs last laughs best.

Matias tells Jero if he doesn’t make Renata happy Jero will answer to him. Jero asks Mat does he think he’s marrying Renata in order to be unhappy? Mat points out that what starts badly can end badly. He also points he’s never known Jero to make such an important decision so quickly. Matias wants to make sure Renata gets everything she deserves. “Oh don’t worry,” threatens Jero, “She’ll get exactly what she deserves.” (Eeps!) Mat finally asks Jero just how much he loves Renata. Jero answers, “Much more than I wanted to.”

Regina and Coni are about to do something when Cata butts in to tell Regina she’s going to take her wedding dress shopping instead. Tony is paying and it’s a surprise. Surely Coni will take care of the Centro while Regina and mom go shopping, right Con? It’s not up for discussion, off they go!

Gonzo meets with Matias to tell him he understands Matias is anxious to move out but he (Gonzo) doesn’t want to leave until Fina gets her results back. I guess they were going to move out together. He suggests Matias get the apartment and Gonzo will join him later. Do it Matias!!! Run like a bunny!!

Lorea from Spain calls Jero. He sees her call but lets it go to voice mail. She sexily tells him she wants to talk see him right away. She heard he was coming back to Spain. Call her, she’ll be waiting. “Te amo.” Jero listens to the message and scowls. Or maybe it’s a smile. I can’t tell with him anymore.

Hooray, we’re in Ensenada. Oh yuck, it’s Dr. Dud and he’s chasing Alfonsina. She tells him to beat it, she’s got to get back to work, but he wants to talk about what happened between them. He wants to talk about The Kiss. He’ll wait for her in his office at 8:00 tonight so they can discuss it calmly. Uh, why can’t you talk about it now Mr. Slimeball?

Also in Ensenada, Lazaro sees Kari and runs the other way. She chases him and their song plays. (It’s Juan Luis Guerra’s Mi Bendición, “When you talk to me I hear a chorus of love for two.” I think we get the picture.) She’s excited for him because he’s going back to school and she’s proud of what a great brother he is to Matilde. She tells him she’s glad they’ll stay at the ranch and she’ll be remaining in town. He doesn’t get it, didn’t she want to live like a queen at La Bonita? She tells him that sort of thing doesn’t make her happy. Ah no? he says, then why did she marry the doctor? He remembers when she couldn’t stop blabbing about how important the doc was for their town so why doesn’t she just stop telling him stories. She cries that she made the wrong choice and her life has become hell.

Spare Girl, looking amazing in her bikini, and Augustin, overdressed, are hanging out on the beach. He rudely tells her she can stay or she can go, it doesn’t matter to him.

Carlos and the staff are cleaning up for Jero and Renata’s arrival. Matilde hates the name Renata. The other maid says Matilde is just jealous which prompts Mati to leave in a huff. Other maid explains to Carlos that when Mati first saw Jero’s picture she fancied herself to one day be the lady of the house. She might not like the new boss-lady but she’ll learn to respect her.

Renata tries on wedding dresses at what will likely be the only Bridal Store in the DF. Well lookee here, it’s Regina and Cata also shopping for una vestida de novia. Regina thinks Renata looks looooovely.

Honorio introduces Blaaaanca Ocaaaaampo around. She meets Matias and he fills her in on the staff and why Adri is out. She’s charmed by the way they treat their employees.

Chema and Coni are together at the Centro. Chema is on the phone trying to get Selene NOT to come over the centro. He says Regina’s not there right now. She hears Coni in the background, calls her a “ruca” (old hag) again and suggests they hook up later. Chema look Coni in the eyes and says Sele might like him but he doesn’t like her.

Meanwhile Sele plots with Roberta to get closer to Chema who always seems to be with Coni. Rob reassures her that Coni’s and old bag who is happily married and wouldn’t look at another guy, much less a kid like Chema. Sele wants Rob to go to the Centro with her and Rob is aghast. No way will she go where the woman who is stealing her dad works.

Adri explains to Regina and Cata that her mom is on the way out. Regina is typically sympathetic. When Renata joins them she finds out that Regina is there to get her own wedding dress. Cata blabs that she hopes this will erase any suspicions that Renata might have about Gonzo and Regina. Regina tells Renata she’s very glad that there are no secrets between Renata and Jero and that they’ve managed to open their hearts to love and forgiveness. Renata, slightly confused, nods politely.

Lazaro and Matilde visit the church where they are surprised by their Madrina! I’m sure the actress is somebody famous but I don’t know who she is and I refuse to check Wikipedia. Anyone know off hand? She says she’s returning to town, hoorays all around!

Gonzo visits Doc Paidinfull who tells Gonzo that Fina’s tumor is inoperable and likely malignant. There is a treatment that might dissolve it but it has side effects. Treatment options must be decided by Fina.

Regina looks fantastic in her wedding dress.

Carlos rides around the vineyards and runs into Spare Girl, now in a sexy off-the-shoulder peasant look. She asks if it’s OK to enjoy the property, she doesn’t want to get involved in the fight between Augi and Jero. Carlos says it’s no problem for him but it might be for Jero. Alfonsina lurks and listens.

Oh creep me out! Dr. Dud sits in his chair grinning like an idiot and recalling his kiss with Alfonsina. Naturally he grabs his flask, guzzles and pants some more. He drools that Alfonsina has awoken all his passions. Gag! Ha! Buzz kill, it’s Augustin to pay a surprise visit. He tells Dr. Dud that he’d better sell Augustin his property abutting La Bonita or he’ll tell Jeronima that doc operated on Rafa with a drunk hand. OK I’m confused, since when did the doc have land next to La Bonita?

Jero meets Renata for lunch. She’s deliriously happy from trying on wedding dresses and her thoughts of their future. Renata mentions she ran into Regina who said something weird about them not having secrets and that they are able to finally open their hearts to love. What was up with that?

Cuando Me Enamoro #35 Wednesday 6/8/11 Going to the chapel of love... going to get maaaaaarried!... the news make the female MR whine and the male MR mope

[Recapped ASAP by Martai and posted by Jardinera654]
Cap. #35

Gina and Anti-hero exchange 'going to the chapel of love... NOT!... getting married' news.
Tony is a good man, he loves me and i should not wait, you told me to give myself another chance...

Jero: Marriage allows you to get to know your mate much better..

Honorio leaves Adri's house... she thanks him and gives him a very tight touching hug after he tells her she can stay with her mom until Aggie is gone... Adri is very moved, and very sad. Honorio assures her she is not alone and never will be.

Anti-hero remembers telling Nata he loves her, she loves him back, then he remembers Fina telling him her bakers dozen lies about Nata using his brother Rafa. He is really uneasy anxious... Stands up to leave.

At hacienda, Alfonsina with another farm worker lady... the woman is asking Alfonsina for advise on how to catch men... Alvaro is watching Alfonsina so when the other lady leaves he approaches her... she is sad that he and Kari won't come live at the hacienda. Alvaro is honest and tells her he was not so fond of the hacienda but what is in it... you Alfonsina. He gives her a kiss... YUCK!!!!... we go to Augie and his girlfriend in his wine cellar (barrels and barrels... he is bragging... that is his world.. she asks him if he would leave that world for her.. he says not for you or for anyone...

she sees the drawing of Nata, she asks who she is... he lies and tells her it is her... he remembers when he first saw Nata at the Monterrubio offices, then he kisses her (DOUBLE dose of YUCK!!!)... Alfonsina shies herself away from Alvaro... he stays there in awe...

padre tells Karina he is surprised Jero did not sell La bonita to Augie... Kari says Alvaro is getting drunk again since he can't move in La Bonita. Kari insists to the priest her husband is an alcoholic. padre keeps denying and excusing Alvaro. Kari says dont know if can continue livign with him. Padre says it is her duty, she swore to in front of God. But he promises he will talk to Alvaro.

Nata arrives at Aggie's. Matias opens for her, she tells him the good news of her new job at teh other company. He says at MR we miss you very much. He says goodbye, she tells him she loves him (te quiero).. he says me too... i still love you.

Out goes Matias and out of room comes Adri... she is totally devastated... her mom's end is coming soon...

Fina is meeting with the sell-out guy from te company... he tells her Gonzalo stopped the process of the divorce until her diagnosis is revealed. The guy shows genuinely concerned about her health, she lies and tells him she thinks it is serious. They hold hands (TRIPLE YUCK!!!)

Augie and his girlfriend are riding horses... then end up at the 'lovers hearts tree'... she notices the hearts... he is looking away.

Adri tells Nata she is very thankful for her aunt and uncle and for Matias. She is suffering watching her mom go out slowly. Nata gets a message from Anti-hero saying he needs to see her urgently at her uncle's house. Nata is reluctant to jump out because he has been avoiding her. Adri pushes her to go, she still has to wait for the doctor. They will be alright.

Honorio and Gonzalo are talking about Fina's doctor... Honorio does not trust him, Gonzalo says the doctor agreed to call him before telling Fina the diagnosis. Gonzo tells Honorio for now he won't do anything but then will go after his divorce and after that he will go again for Gina.

At the tree, Girlfriend shows Rafa and Roberta's heart to Augie, his brain gears seem to get going at max speed...

Nata meets up with Anti-hero... he tells her he just took the most important decision of his life... he wants them to get married... This totally freezes her. She is surprised, they have been dating for a very short time... Anti-hero asks is that important to you? ... Nata is still in disbelief.. do you really want us to get married? are you ready to love and respect me for the rest of your life?...

Augie tells his girlfriend the story of Rafa... he was teh one that got these vineyards going. He was good with business but an idiot in love... he was a coward and that is why he killed himself.. unbelievable he would take his life for a woman.

Girlfriend tells him you don't know how that feels... hopefully someday you will feel the same way so you won't judge Rafa so harshly. HE smiles and puts on his sunglasses smiling, she walks away in a huff.

Back to lovebirds... SHe wants to know what they will live on ($$ wise)... he asks her if that is important to her. whether he does or doesnt have money? She say nope, but he knows more about her than she about him. He asks what she wants to know about him.

R: What you can see you dont need to analyze... I know you are gorgeous, that you have good feelings, that you had a brother, that you are a working man, businessman who has assetts in many places worldwide...

AH: (cuts her off) Who USED to have many businesses in many places worldwide... (pulls the letter he asked his assistant put together).. I just received this letter from my rep in Spain... in that letter they tell me that I am broke. (whose nose is growing now?) (hands letter to her)
R: Jeronimo... I am so sorry.

AH: Nata, I love you and you are very important to me. But I don't know if you no longer will want to marry me now that you know my real financial situation. (thought bubbles: Renata, please, tell me the truth. If you do, there is a chance for our love. Dont lie to me anymore. I can forgive everything but deception. Tell me now, my love. please!)

R: (stands up to embrace him with her arms around him) The money is not an obstacle for me, Jero, as long as you are a working and responsible man I dont mind starting from scratch by your side.

AH: If we had to live in the north of the country, in some vineyards in an hacienda, would you go with me? (she stares at him as if wondering if he even doubts it..

Back at the charity center, Ms. stalker is after Chema... he keeps insisting that he never thought she would be interested in giving her time to a place like this. She say well, why not... he says Gina will decide which area Sele could help with... Sele answers for him saying in whatever area you are... that is where I would be comfortable... (she has her hands all over him... this is sick to watch... then Connie walks by them with not many friends stare..., Sele notices)... Sele notes to Chema that Connie seems to be jealous of them being together, She even downtalks Connie as an old hag(ruca)... Bad move. This statement makes Chema realize maybe Connie is attracted to him...

Carlos is working at the hacienda laptop... Mati brings him a drink... She asks why did he tell her not to mention la bonita to the 'hermoso'. Carlos tells her in no uncertain terms that if she wants the world peace to last, she better not even mention la bonita...

Nata tells Anti-hero that she would not mind going to live anywhere with him, even to grow coffee in Chiapas... He is in disbelief that she would go anywhere with him.... Nata then guesses that the one that is afraid to get married is him... she charges over him... she tells him that she is decided to go with him wherever and to get married whenever he wants to...

Nata gets on phone to summon her family (really, she still loves them as such?) to be home tonight, she has to tell them something... Fina is reviewing pictures of Nata when she was a girl (when the braid cut incident) and tells the picture that it is time to continue driving her mom crazy.. (I bet another xmas in july package is coming to Gina's door soon...) I need her away from you... and above all, away from MY husband...

Said prank victim arrives home after she and Tony had gone to hospital to be with Adriancito on his first chemo therapy.

Cata has been making him the cookies... Gina and Tony praise the example that the Ines/Isidro/Adrian family are giving.. Tony can't wait to tell Cata the news of their impending marriage.

Roberta charges into Fina's room to tell her The embezzle Diego is blackmailing her with a taped conversation of their planning. Fina callas her idiot for allowing that to happen... Roberta keeps doing what she does best, whinning... and Fina's brain gears are working again... now the best strategy is to plant Roberta in the company so she will be close to Gonzo and Matias all day long. Roberta says you crazy?? I have never worked and I DONT WANT to work!! Fina says this is best moment to recover the love from them that Nata had stolen... and what better way than spending all day with them at the office.

Nata arrives at Adri's, she feels bad that she is happy when Adri is so sad, Adri says at least that will take my head off my sadness... So Nata gives her the good news of her marriage and their plans to move to the vineyards. Adri is surprised they are not going to spain or staying in MC but she is really happy for Nata.

Alfonsina seems to be under the weather, did she do the deed with Alvaro? (MAJOR YUCK!!!) Mati leaves the kitchen, Alfonsina remembers the kiss with Alvaro... Mati asks if she could be sick... Alfonsina says either sick or crazy... Lazaro offers to take her to town, he needs to buy some things... In comes a very ecstatic Carlos... with the news that Jero is not selling the hacienda but instead he is moving here ... and is bringing a wife... He is getting married and is coming to live here with her to begin a new life... Alfonsina has been listening to this and has a questioning stare... Mati is visibly jealous of the 'wife' news. Carlos and Lazaro could not be happier but freeze at the stares of the two women.

Daniel comes to visit Adri... he came to give her some company for a while and brought roses and dinner. (the sandwiches she loves...) She will only accept if he stays for dinner... He reluctantly accepts. She asks him if he is done hoping for something between them. 'did you stop hallucinating with my thousand romances?'

Cata and Ines are talking.. Ines is happy with how Andres handled his first chemo treatment. Cata asks Ines for a favor. She says Gina wants to postpone her wedding until after Andresito's treatments. SO Cata wants Ines to try to convince her to not wait and get married right away... Ines agrees that Gina getting married will be uplifting for them all (and both do they need that... but they also could use some therapy... first of all Cata to stop meddling in her daughter's business).

Roberta arrives home to tell Gonzo she wants to work at the MR office. Gonzo is very taken aback since she never showed interest in the business... She has changed her mind and now wants him to be proud of her. HE says before she works in a given area, he will send her for some training. She agrees...

Anti-hero and Gina are talking... Did the supposed relationship of you and Gonzo have anything to do with your accelerating the wedding? ... no, Tony and I just decided to do it now.... Anti-hero shares with her the news that he will also get married to Nata... She says and I thought my plans were fast... but yours are on the concorde... Did you talk to Renata about your real reason for approaching her at first? Did you man up and tell her that it was stronger the love than the hatred you felt for her?

Gonzo arrives home... Fina and Roberta seem to be annoyed that Nata summoned them... Nata drops the bomb of Jero's proposal. Gonzo leans back frozen, Fina and Rob jump off the sofa.. how can that guy propose to you??... Nata tells tehm she agreed to marry Anti-hero at the end of this month... Matias arrives to the living room in time to hear this last line.

Tony is on phone with investigator trying to accelerate the investigation on the location of Gina's daughter, he wants to give Gina that for their wedding present..

Back to MR hell-mansion... Matias in disbelief, the barely know each other... Nata insists they want to get married... Gonzo asks why Jero is not here to ask for himself... Nata says he wanted to but she wanted to be the one to give them the news. Fina says it not only surprises us, but noone here likes Jero, he is a traitor just like you... Gonzo is agreeing with Matias, there is no reason to rush into it.... Rob says must be because she already rolled around with Jero and has to get married fast... Fina asks Nata if she is pregg... Matias repeats the question... (does he feel like he needs to repeat or translate the question?? go to teh corner, mr pathetic) Nata says no i am not pregg... I am getting married because I love Jero very much... we decided to get married and we are going to live in Baja... at some vineyards that belonged to his brother.

Augie is mad about the news that Alfonsina brought him... When are they going to come? as soon as they get married. According to Carlos it will be before the harvest(vendimia)... Augie is afraid that if Jero comes to live here with his wife, it will lower the chances of me getting to buy the hacienda. Augie asks Alfonsina to spy more and tell him all the details... Ezequiel threatens Alfonsina not to betray Augie, or she will have to deal with him... (Boy Ezeq and Alvaro are SOME lottery prize husbands, aren't they?? )

Gonzo is questioning Nata and the plans to move to a vineyard hacienda... Isn't he a very wealthy man who can take her anywhere in the world? ... Matias confirms that Jero is a sucessful businessman. Fina says that is a lie!! she say Jero told Rob he had some financial troubles. Matias says that is impossible!! Roberta and Fina whine some more about Jero... Nata says nothing is impossible when you are in love... we decided to start over together and we will go to this hacienda that his brother left him.

Fina stands up and says once again you are going against our wishes... Fina's nose grows again, saying Nata's fling for Jero will not last longer than her fling for Matias... you are leaving everything for that man. be careful, if you are wrong, you will lose more than you think. Fina finishes with the ironic statement 'hope you will be very happy in your marriage'.

Gonzo asks Nata to understand that they are all very concerned about her... He guesses she is using Jero and the rush marriage as an excuse to put distance from them because she feels rejected by the family... she assures him that is not her motive... he hopes so.. he doesnt want her to go too far away from them... is she sure? THen she will always have his love and support... They have a hug and she thanks him.

Gina insists with Anti-hero wanting to know what Nata said... did she confess about Rafa?.. Jero says they just want to start from scratch... Gina insists that easier said than done... if they are not totally honest with each other, eventually that will hurt their relationship... Jero insists not to worry, he asks her not to feel bad about his issue with Renata... Renata was happy to go live with him at the hacienda... Gina asks again if he is sure there is nothing to clear up... Jero says Nata did not agree to marry Rafa because he was not financially stable... but when he proposed, she agreed to marry him with no guarantees so that is what is important to him... Gina finally conceeds that love is what is important...

Mr Pathetic is pouting with Gonzo... did future Mrs Linares leave? yup... are you alright? ... no, i wish i could say i dont love nata anymore or that Jero is a jerk who does not deserve her... but that is not true... he is a good man even with all that happened... Gonzo thanks Matias for telling him that Jero is worthy of Nata and that he (Matt) is not being blinded by deception... Matt says you know? Jero always dreamed of marrying and having a family... and look who he will be marrying... Renata... the woman I love... Gonzo tries to console him 'i am with you in your pain'... (did someone die? come on, you both are grown men moping for a woman you love marrying another one... cut your losses and move on!! pleeezzz!!)

Previews: Nata confronts Fina and Anti-hero confronts Matias... also Fina tells Rob 'dont worry, we haven't seen who will have the last laugh ... yet'...

Triunfo del Amor #144 6/8/11 Some Good Old Fashioned Uncaged Rage for the Otherwise Unassuaged

Viewerville returns to the land of the lusty, the lusting, and the naively trusting to catch Victoria’s reaction to Bernarda’s matter-of-fact confession that years ago she was the one who ran Bitchi down because she wanted both her and her little daughter dead! D.E.A.D.! Once Vic hears this admission of guilt from our demented dowager, she totally--but totally--loses it. Thwapppp! Caaaat fiiiiight!!! Bitchtoria slaps the old broad across the choppers and takes her by the throat. Burnie collapses onto the couch. Vic jumps on top of her for an even better choke-hold. Unfortunately, the chauffeur and the maid come running in and pull her off before any real and long lasting harm is done. (Viewerville lets out a communal “awwww!” in solidarity of disappointment!) Alas, Burnie gloats that Bitchtoria can’t lay a glove on her since Her Son the Priest, Juan Pablo, is sworn to secrecy under rules of the confessional, so Vic hasn’t got any proof to make a complaint to the police over it. She smooths a wrinkle on her brow, lifts a supercilious eyebrow, and smirks as she strolls out the front door, obviously enjoying Bitchi’s resulting conniption fit to the hilt. “--Don’t bother to show me out. I know the way.”

Back in the bowels of the barrio in Maria’s mouse-hole of an apartment, Max and she hug and agree they’ll have to start seeing each other secretly at night. Max then puts in a couple of good words on Bitchtoria’s behalf with Maria. Maria says she’ll continue working at Casa Victoria The Redux cuz she needs her job. He tells Maria that Vic wants her near her because she cares about her. Maria says fine, but it’ll be strictly a business relationship.

At Casa Scandal-val meanwhile, Vicki has apparently given Osvaldo the 411 on the 480 (hit and run). He pulls a gun out of a nearby drawer to get his gangsta on. He is going to confront the b!tchwitch once and for all! He’ll make her pay for Vic’s--and his--veinte años of misery.  [That's 20 years-- for you non-La Madrastra aficionados out there.]   Vic tells him to put the gun away and nix the nutty machismo. The last thing they need now is that kind of problem on top of everything else. Oz  agrees to back off for her sake. (Anyway, his baggy chinos and XXL boxers were still at the dry cleaners and Michaela borrowed the hairnet.) Vic says she’d rather he help her find a way to get Maria to warm up to her instead.

Back at the vecindad, Alonso tells Max something doesn’t square [no me digiero=can’t digest or assimilate] cuz he knows what real love is, and a person doesn’t just fall out of love overnight. Max just looks at him and says, “You’ve got her now. Take advantage of that. Be happy. Get married.”

Across town, Fausto has a meeting with the Bishop who tells him he’ll have to pay his debt to society before he can become a priest.

Abuela Burnie stops in at Maria’s next. However, Burnie’s now persona non grata with Maria also. Maria gives her grief for denying her the chance to have a real family. As far as she’s concerned, all the problems she’s had to deal with are the old bag’s fault. Things could have been so different if Grandma hadn’t meddled. Doesn’t she feel the least bit sorry for any of this? No, says Burnie. Not at all. Juan Pablo has always had a sacred mission. Maria wants to know what kind of mission would trump everything else: saving his mama!

Antonieta is thrilled that Vicki has found her “Pequeña Maria” for really real this time. Vicki says it doesn’t matter because the girl hates her and has rejected her outright already. Toni thinks she’s exaggerating. No, says Vic, and she doesn’t blame her. Toni is shocked to hear Vic confess to the way she humiliated her and worked her to the bone (granted to make a top model out of her) especially after Maria got involved with Max.

At Televisa, Cruz records a record. (It sounds great. It has a good beat and I bet you could dance a flamenco to it.) The producer he’s been assigned takes him to lunch at the Televisa campus cafe. (She can’t seem to keep her hands to herself, either.)

Leonela comes by Guillermo’s place to do some of the prep for the play. He lies and says he’s gotten a family inheritance and is drawing up plans to remodel the man-cave.

Fausto gives his statement to the police. He talks about the fire and claims it had to be Bernarda de Iturbe who set it, but he can’t prove it. The lead detective/judge of the day? puts a warrant out for Burnie’s arrest.

Meanwhile, Maria gets a little motherly advice from Milagros. “Forgive and forget. It’s hard but life’s too short.”

At Casa Bernarda, an invitation to a major fashion show arrives. Burnie figures she’ll beat the pants off Victoria and Casa.

Oz returns to the studio and agrees to take a role in a telenovela. He finds out afterwards that Lushous Leo will be his leading lady, but also that Gui will be the villain. Yep, just like old times. The producer later tells Oz that he knows all about the problems between him and Gui. Oz says not to worry; that he’ll act like the professional he is on the set.

Back at Casa Vic, Pepino is apparently ill, but he covers it up pretty well by clowning around. There is some planning meeting he’s invited them all to at some restaurant that night.

Vic also gets an invitation to the same gala fashion show as Burnarda. Then Vicki’s prayers are answered as Maria shows up for work just like she’d hoped. Maria rejects both Toni and Vic’s attentions. She leaves to change and Toni is distraught at the fact that Maria doesn’t want anything to do with them. (Not everybody is made to be a lapdog, my dear.)

Alonso visits Padre JP and Padre Jeronimo. He mentions that Maria and Max have broken off their engagement and that Maria has opted to give Lonnie his chance at romance with her. Papa Padre JP can’t get his head around that and starts sputtering.

Back at Casa Vic’s, Fer and Maria meet in the hall and discuss the second operation and Fer’s urge to give Cruz a child. Maria gives Fer a heartfelt hug of encouragement and solidarity in motherhood. Speaking of depressing things, however, who should waltz in the room and start slinging insults, but Jimena! “--Ahh! What a touching picture! The whore hugging the crippled girl.”

Jimeana finds out that she’s picked the wrong day to mess with Maria. Maria turns around and gives Ji’s motor mouth a walloping in an attempt to get Ji’s snotty snoot back into joint. Thwappppp! “--That’s so you’ll learn to stay quiet!” (¡Éso! Viewerville jumps onto their respective couches and chairs to cheer. We’re definitely ready to RRRRUMMMMMBLE!!!!) Ji pops right back up like one of those obnoxious blow up rubber dolls. “--So now you’re the defender of the defenseless? What a crock! All that’s important for you is power and money!” “--That’s a lie! You just don’t like that I’ve been able to get ahead on my own. Of course, I’ve never tried murdering anybody!” Ji calls Maria a big fat liar and a home wrecker [roba-maridos = husband robber, or, literally a stolen husbands] and slaps her back. When Fer calls foul, Ji goads her too. “--Defend her! Aren’t you going to get up and defend her?” Maria moves in for the take down at that point and the knock-down drag-out we’ve all been waiting for finally arrives.

Toni and Vicki hear the ruckus and race in to pull them apart. Vicki starts screaming at Jimeana. “--Don’t you ever touch her again! Do you hear me??? Don’t touch her again!” Vic let’s Ji have another one across the chops for emphasis. Thwapppp! Ji thinks there must be a mistake cuz Vic’s yelling at her instead of belittling Maria. “--What’s the matter with you, Victoria? Why are you defending her? Don’t you realize what a seductress this whore is?”

By now, the rest of the staff have run out to see what the commotion’s about. Jimeana is stunned. “Why are you sticking up for her?” Vicki takes a deep breath. “--Because Maria Desamparada… is my daughter!!!” The camera pans a couple of times to capture the startled expressions of everyone else in the room who isn't yet in the know.

Teresa Wed 6/8/11 #74 Sex, lies…at least there’s no videotape. Or Twitter.

Scenes condensed.
Paloma’s Pity Palace: Arturo, in a frantic state, has shown up for a little late-night therapy with Paloma, who apparently wears black pumps with her nightie. He sobs that she was right; Teresa was not only engaged to Mariano, she also hit the sheets (or the beach towel) with him. Arturo helps himself to the booze and interrogates Paloma. When she saw them in the park, did Teresa seem into Mariano? Not like she was being coerced? Paloma says they seemed totally together. Art is furious that Teresa said she slept with Paulo. “What difference does it make?,” Paloma asks. What matters is she LIED! Art keeps drinking.
Cuernavaca: Teresa tries to call Arturo, but he doesn’t answer. Juana says she knows something is really wrong with their marriage.
Juana’s apartment: Maira asks Esperanza about the other man in her life. Espe says it’s none of her business. Just in case, Maira calls dibs on Ruben again. All yours, except that if he cheated with me, he’ll cheat again, Espe warns. Maira smugs that he totally pinky-promised it won’t happen again. Johnny shows up with Espe’s churros, and doesn’t see Maira there as he says something to Esperanza about not wanting his sobrino born with churro face. “You’re PREGNANT?!” Maira asks. Espe admits this but says it isn’t Maira’s concern. For some stupid reason, Maira wants to literally drag Esperanza over to talk to Ruben about this. Huh? She wants to potentially give him a reason to stay in contact with Espe? Fortunately Hernán el galán rides in on his white steed to save the day. He hugs Esperanza and tells Maira to leave his fiancée and baby alone. Maira sneers that Espe’s awfully lucky she found another man who would have her. Hernán el muy galán beams that he’s the lucky one. Espe is awesome; such a catch! He gets rid of Maira. Esperanza cries and says she doesn’t deserve the nice things he’s said and done for her. Hernán says he meant everything he said.
Paloma’s Nest of Neediness: Arturo is still drinking and yelling. He isn’t mad that Teresa wasn’t some untouched innocent, he’s furious about the LIES! Now he understands why Mariano was so sure Teresa was interested in him. Arturo smashes his glass against the wall, cutting his hand. {I’m just curious…how do they film something like that without the actor really getting hurt? Special trick glass? Camera trickery?} He fetches the jug and keeps drinking. WHY, Teresa, WHY?!
Finally Arturo calms down a bit and lets Paloma patch up his hand. He’s still crying, so Paloma snuggles up all sympathetically and tries to talk him into forgetting about that traitor Teresa. Paloma will ALWAYS love him. Smoochy smoochy. He does not resist. More smooching. Major smooching. Clothes start coming off and things go horizontal.
Meanwhile, back in Cuernavaca, Teresa paces and thinks to herself that she CANNOT lose Arturo and his money and social position.
Next morning:
Cuernavaca: Teresa wants to go home, and Juana and Héctor agree to leave early and take her. Aida strolls along and tells Tere she should have come to the club with them. It was so much fun and she and Mariano danced all night! Too bad Tere’s husband abandoned her.
Elsewhere on the grass: Mariano apologizes to Aurora and says she’s right and everything is not about Teresa. Aurora just seems annoyed that he even brought it up again. He worries that he’s losing Aurora’s friendship. She says she’s put up with a lot from him, but she’s getting tired of it. Mariano doesn’t know why she’s so mad. Aurora tells him if he keeps hanging onto hopes for Teresa, he’ll eventually regret it. She stomps off and tells her dad she’s an idiot. Try as she might, she can’t fall in love with Martín, and she can’t forget Mariano, who in turn will never get over Teresa.
Juana’s apartment: Esperanza’s home from her night shift, and Cutberto tries to pry information about Juana out of her. Espe has nothing. He offers to get breakfast; after all, “las penas con pan son buenas” (food improves the mood, carbs soothe life’s barbs). Esperanza says she’s made some big mistakes, and now that she’s met a guy who would be worth the trouble, she thinks it’s too late. But she encourages Cutberto to try again with Juana. Speaking of the queen of Rome, she arrives home and tries to regale Cutberto with tales of the fabulousness of the house and Héctor’s muy attentive attentions, but oddly he does not want to hear it.
Back in Cuernavaca, Martín tells Aurora he wants to stay awhile longer. “Why?” she asks. To help the servants clean, he jokes. Or, he wants to live where soul meets body, specifically his soul and her body. Kisses. Aurora seems relieved when the phone rings.
Back in the 80s, at Genoveva’s: Maira tells Gen she saw Esperanza, and she’s pregnant! Gasp. Genoveva thinks it’s great news that Espe has moved on. Maira agrees; now she and Ruben can be super-happy again. Um, sure, congrats.
Casa de la Barrera: Teresa arrives and asks Luisa where Arturo is. Luisa is surprised they aren’t together. No, he didn’t come home. “Where did he sleep?!” Teresa screeches.
Paloma’s Inn of Infidelity: Two sad sacks in the sack. Arturo awakens to Paloma’s nekkid caresses. He feels terrible. As he should, after draining the decanter. Oh, and also the floozy snoozling. Paloma is of the convenient opinion that his cheating doesn’t count if Teresa cheated first. Arturo gets dressed while Paloma tries to convince him that he should leave Teresa because Paloma will always be here offering up whatever he wants and never ask for anything in return. Geez louise, woman, way to sell yourself. Somehow Arturo declines this not-so-special offer. Paloma assures him her lips are zipped. She apparently went to the Comcast Cable send-fliers-three-times-a-week-for-years-and-maybe-eventually-they’ll-upgrade School of Marketing, because she repeats her offer over and over and over and Arturo says never again. She gives it another shot. Whatever! Whenever! She’s available!
Casa de la Barrera: Luisa and Teresa fret and fuss and try to reach Arturo and Teresa claims if something bad has happened to him, she’ll die. {Of what? Shopping herself to death, trying to max out his credit cards before she’s cut off?}
Loan Shark Storekeeper’s place (sorry, can’t remember her name): Fito delivers more “sandwich fillings.” The woman wants to tell Johnny what’s going on, but Fito wants to wait until they’re sure they can trust him. Definitely it won’t be a problem, though, because Johnny’s in love and you know those dames, cost a fortune.
Vecindad: Johnny tells Cutberto he’d like to get out of his way, but he can’t find a place to live. Cutberto suggests the portero position which is still vacant. Cutberto’s thinking of leaving himself, though. Johnny tells him he thinks dating Gris to make Juana jealous will work. But in the meantime, gotta seek “comfort” elsewhere, ya know?
Grumpa’s prison: Gris and her giggly young inmate swoon over a diary Gris has filled with romantic yearnings. Later, when Gris is gone, what’s-her-name passes the diary down to Johnny in the bucket so he can photocopy it to use as blackmail.
Casa de la Barrera: Arturo finally arrives home, where Teresa is pacing the parlor. “Where have you been?! I have been worried sick! But most importantly, with whom did you spend the night?!” Teresa smells the booze and gets really yelly. Fernando conveniently shows up, reads the situation, and offers an alibi, but Teresa chucks him out. She does not buy the story. Why is Arturo lying to her? “Why did YOU lie to ME?” Teresa deflects by crying about how worried she was about him. They hug. She notices his hand. Arturo admits he smashed a glass. Teresa can’t believe he lost control like that (if only she knew). He says it will never happen again. She tells herself she’s going to find out what’s going on.
Cuernavaca, pool: Aida talks Mariano into trying to have fun. She can help, because she’s an expert in Post-Teresa Rehab for Men. They snoozle in a lounge chair in front of Aurora.
Martín tells Aurora he thinks she can move on and fall in love with him and be happy. It’s all in the attitude. Like Aida, determined to enjoy life even after Paulo died, and see how happy she looks there with Mariano? Aurora would rather not see, but she agrees a good attitude helps. Martín says he was in love once before, and now the second time, with Aurora, it’s just as intense, if not more so.
Casa de la Barrera library: Luisa doubts Fernando’s story, as well. Fern sweet-talks her into submission. Teresa walks in and says she knows Fernando was just trying to help, but if Arturo is ever unfaithful, divorce on the double. Fern looks grim.
Privately, Arturo thanks Fernando. Fern wants the scoop. Art admits he was with Paloma. QUÉ?! Fernando is outraged. How could Arturo do that to Teresa? Arturo tells him Teresa slept with Mariano. What?! She cheated?! No, it was before. Oh. So what’s the problem? It’s not like Arturo doesn’t have a past. The problem is that she LIED!!! Fernando is still furious. Arturo feels terribly guilty, but thinks Fernando is taking this rather personally.
After Fernando leaves, Teresa comes in to sob some more about how worried she was and how much she loves Arturo. She loves him so much, she just can’t keep her terrible secret anymore. She confesses she slept with Mariano. “I KNEW it!”
Avances: Arturo DEMANDS to know whether Teresa loves Mariano. Check yes or no, and I guess if she does they’ll meet at recess for a peck on the cheek. Also, fútbol match tomorrow so changed schedule.

Teresa Tue 6/7/11 #73 We’ll always have Cuernavaca.

Cuernavaca: Arturo looks up to see Mariano & Aida walking up. Hector hadn’t had the chance to tell him and takes him inside. Juana, Aurora, Martin head off to ask Mariano to leave. Meanwhile, Teresa takes this opportunity to be alone with Fernando saying she’d rather not see Mariano just yet. Mariano asks Aida if she’d like to leave. They both agree not to leave. Aurora walks up to Mariano and tells him that when she invited them, she had no idea her father had already invited Art&Tere. Juana and Martin have now joined the conversation and Juana accuses him of wanting to continue to see her goddaughter but doesn’t consider what she may want. Does he want to cause problems for her and her husband? On the contrary, Mariano says, he had no idea they were going to be there. Aida chimes in saying Mariano has no further interest in seeking out Teresa and tells them she and Mariano are now novios, making Aurora uncomfortable.

Elsewhere, Arturo understands Teresa was unkind to Martin when they met and Hector says this is why they were all invited, to begin anew. He asked Aurora to bring Martin but didn’t specifically say who was going to be there and had no idea she had invited Mariano & Aida. He understands the uncomfortable situation with Mariano and he’ll ask him to leave. He also explains Aurora likes him very much and as Director of the hospital he values him as well but he also knows how much he bothers Arturo. Arturo has come the realization that this will continue to happen. Mariano and he seem to have many acquaintances in common, more than he would like.

Teresa is taking a stroll with Fernando saying she’s sorry he had to witness all this. He replies, “that’s what happens to a beautiful woman, more than one man will notice her.” Teresa says it’s more important who the woman chooses. That’s not so simple, he says. All men want to be the chosen one but not all men are willing to lose and Mariano is one of the latter. Teresa likes a man who is willing to fight for her without a care as what he has to do.

Back at the confrontation with Aida & Mariano: Aida doesn’t see what the big deal is. They’re all adults here and can behave. Mariano agrees but says he came with her and will leave with her. Aurora invited them over for a good time but it appears as though that can’t happen now. He thinks they should leave. As Aurora is explaining how sorry she is about all this, Arturo walks up (actually charges up) and tells Mariano he’d like to speak with him.

Fernando and Teresa: Fernando brings up Mariano and how he would do anything for her, even interrupt her wedding. It’s apparent he really doesn’t care about anything else. She tells him not to confuse the issue. It’s true Mariano has committed many locuras for her but the one who really had to fight for her was Arturo. He was the one with the least chance of being with her. He was her professor, and then her employer. They both agree that was a moral dilemma. That’s why, Teresa continues, he was very strict with her and always put a barrier between them. Furthermore, her mother didn’t like him. She was on team Mariano and really pressured her to be with him. Arturo finally won out. Little by little he won her over. He was so thoughtful and before she knew it, she had fallen in love with him. She’s very happy with him but if he continues with this jealousy over Mariano, sob, she just doesn’t know what she’ll do. She takes his hands and begins to cry, she’s very worried. Then she hugs him close and he caresses her back. He has a sincere, concerned look on his face. Her, a knowing tiburoncita smile.

Arturo tells Mariano he seems destined to run into him repeatedly. Mariano agrees they have many acquaintances in common and although Art&Tere may not agree, there are many who appreciate him and he’s going to continue those friendships. Arturo knows and thinks enough is enough, speaking of the scandal Mariano caused at his wedding and the scandal Arturo caused at Mariano’s home. Mariano doesn’t understand why he did that. He’s won Teresa hasn’t he? They both agree they’ll continue to run into each other and don’t feel they should leave whenever that happens. Mariano confesses had he known they would be here, he wouldn’t have come. Not because of Teresa and him, but out of respect for Aida and not wanting to put her through the discomfort. Arturo asks only that he respect his wife and others in the house. Mariano says he honestly has no problem and hopes Arturo feels the same. Arturo hopes they are able to behave in a civil manner toward each other whenever they happen to be in the same place.

Ruh-roh – Fernando looks as though he’s really enjoying that hug. Teresa suddenly pulls away and acts as though nothing is wrong then says playfully that he’s acting like her guardian angel to which he replies he’s many things but nothing like an angel (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). That’s exactly what she thought when first they met. That’s why she warned Luisa about getting involved with him. She sees him as one of those who refuses to lose. He also sees her that way. She’s determined (decidada) and doesn’t allow anyone to get the best of her(no te dejas). She learned that where she was raised, to defend what’s hers and that’s why now she must fight for her marriage. Beginning with getting Arturo to stop worrying about Mariano. Above all, Paloma must leave her husband in peace. Arturo has publicly spurned (despreciado) Mariano and yet he shows too much concern for that woman. Fernando agrees and feels it would be best that they both distance themselves from Paloma. Arturo joins them, asking Teresa to come with him. He announces they’re not leaving and neither is Mariano. Mariano will have to accept that Teresa is his wife and they will be together for-ev-er. They both thank Fernando and walk away. Fernando calls Luisa.

Aida agrees that Mariano and Arturo should treat each other politely. It’s obvious they will continue to run into them and it’s not like they can take Teresa off the face of the earth. She feels it’s the best thing he can do. Then they see Arturo and Teresa walking together. Aida immediately rushes to put her arms around Mariano. Mariano tells her if she feels the least bit uncomfortable, they can leave. Aida refuses, saying that when she thinks of all she suffered at the hands of Teresa with regards to Paolo, she has a little satisfaction knowing it bothers Teresa to see her with Mariano. She kisses him then tells him what Teresa said about Aida picking up her cast offs (deshechos). But she doesn’t care because she’s able to appreciate their value.

Hector is talking to Martin about Aurora’s mother, saying he really has no hope of finding her and that may be best for everyone. Martin doesn’t agree it would be best for Aurora. Hector’s sure that finding Vanessa will only reopen old wounds and he’s hired an attorney to take care of things legally. He asks that Martin be discreet with Juana at least until his legal situation is finalized. He’s grateful Martin was so supportive when Aurora told him of her mother’s abandonment. Martian confesses he’s in love with Aurora and hopes to one day marry her and is counting on Hector’s blessing. Hector agrees but says that the last definitive word is Aurora’s. Martin’s very aware of that and he’s working on it.

We finally leave Cuernavaca and return to la vecindad. Johnny wonders out loud why we sigh. She remembers a dicho that says “a sigh is like a kiss that never was” (un beso que nunca se dio). Very cute. Cutberto then says he’ll always be sighing because…..yeah, yeah, yeah, says Johnny, thanks to your amada. Espe assumes he’s referring to Juana. Cutberto starts in complaining about Juana and Hector and thankfully Johnny wants to change the subject but not before Juana tells him she’s in Cuernavaca for the weekend with other couples. That gets him going again…..FF>>

Cuernavaca: Everyone is poolside and Fernando announces he’s leaving to help Luisa with some work. Hector asks Aurora to organize the sleeping arrangements. Aida jumps in asking where she and Mariano will sleep tonight. Teresa could give herself whiplash with the way she turned to look at Mariano. Aurora puts the kibosh on her plans: The men will sleep in the guest room, the women will sleep in Aurora’s. Then there’s her father’s room and another room for Arturo and Teresa. Arturo has to point out the good thing about being married is that they can sleep in their own room. Juana nervously asks if there is an extra bed in Aurora’s room for her. Hector smiles nervously. Dang it, he’s so cute.

Vecindad: Johnny and Cutberto leave for work. Espy settles down with a baby book as she talks to her baby. She wonders if baby can really hear everything and wishes she could choose what he/she hears. If so, she wouldn’t have wanted baby to hear her argument with Ruben. She apologizes for not going back to his/her father even though she loves him (ugh) and the baby will really need him. But she cannot accept his offer.

Casa Caceres: Eeeewwww! Mayra and Ruben talk about the wonderful time they had last night. She tells him she was so nervous and hopes it was good for him. Ugh She’s so insecure. He proposes that from now on she decides what goes on in bed, and elsewhere. She’s embarrassed and admits she could never see herself with another man. She admits she thought about it but just couldn’t see herself actually doing it. He tells her there’s no need to think about that now that they’re back together and he will never stray again. (I gag). She wants them to be honest and truthful with each other and tell each other everything.

Quick view of poolside in Cuernavaca. Mariano and Aida cavorting by the pool as Teresa keeps an eye on them. She’s sitting next to Arturo who seems to be playing backgammon, oblivious to his wife’s roving eye.

Back to the Caceres: Ruben thinks they should take a vacation. She doesn’t feel right doing that now after all the work she’s done with the accountant and Aida. Poor guy has spent so much time with her. That’s why he pays Madeo (accountant?) She’s determined to continue. He suggests he be the one to teach her/help her. After all, he knows the business. She agrees and he snuggles to her telling her he loves her voice. Aaaaagh!

A Night in Cuernavaca: Art&Tere in their room. She tells him he did the right thing in deciding not to argue every time they see Mariano. He doesn’t want to talk about that right now. In fact, he doesn’t want to talk and they begin canoodling.

Outside, Aida and Mariano are taking a stroll and she tells him her plan was to spend all her time with him but with Hector there that wasn’t possible. She’s sure Martin wanted to spend the night with Aurora. He says they need to respect the rules of the house. She kisses him goodnight. Mariano is alone and begins to think about that first day in Cuernavaca with Teresa. He happens to walk by Art&Tere’s room and can hear their lovemaking, and he’s frustrated. We see Arturo and Teresa in bed and she doesn’t look much happier.

Casa de la Barrera: Fernando arrives, surprising Luisa and offers to help her. As he embraces Luisa, he thought bubbles about that other embrace with Teresa. Now he doesn’t look too happy either. Luisa wonders what’s wrong with him.

Cuernavaca: Art&Tere’s bedroom. She’s redressed and asks if he wants to go back downstairs to play more table games (juegos de mesa). He’d rather stay here with her. As he hugs her, we see that she’d rather be anywhere than here with him. She tells him she’s really thirsty and going for some water.
We next see her talking with Aurora. Aurora doesn’t understand why she’s still so nervous. Everything turned out alright in the end. Teresa insists this shouldn’t have happened to begin with. She shouldn’t be here and neither should Mariano. In reality, they shouldn’t be there at the same time, ever. Aurora understands she doesn’t want to see him and that it brings up bad memories. Whoopsie, Arturo appears in the background without either woman noticing him. Aurora wants to know why Teresa is so adamant that Mariano not be here, specifically in this house. She then asks if this is where she and Mariano had their “first” time. Yes, Teresa confesses. This is where she was with Mariano and then asks that she not repeat that. Too late! Arturo’s heard everything and is muy, muy, pero muy impactado!

Casa de la Barrera: Luisa’s packing up her work and Fernando is still sulking. She asks again what’s the matter. Nothing, he says. By the way, has he told her how beautiful she looks tonight? He sure wishes she could’ve gone with him to Cuernavaca. She talks of all the work she had to get done and still isn’t finished. He’s promised to help her and he will. He gives her a big hug. She asks again what’s up? Nothing, he says again. He missed her. Maybe he’s trying to rub the feel of shark skin off.

Cuernavaca: Tere’s not finished and Arturo is bracing himself to hear more. She knows if Arturo finds out, he’ll kill her. She loves him and intends to put her marriage first before anything. She’s fearful of him finding out. Aurora doesn’t think she’ll ever be happy living like this. Arturo’s heard enough and leaves and walks right into Hector who sees that he is clearly upset. Arturo says he’s not ok and says he’s going to kill Mariano! Hector becomes alarmed wondering what happened. He thought they had straightened everything out. Arturo’s so angry he can barely speak. He tells him he can’t talk about it and really shouldn’t say anything to him at the moment. Hector continues to try to understand what’s wrong. But Arturo won’t say more and apologizes, saying there’s something he needs to determine/make clear (definir). He leaves and Hector goes after him.

Elsewhere in the house, Juana, Aida, and Martin are playing a rousing game of Twister. Mariano walks in and Aida asks why he’s so serious. He should join in the fun. At that moment Arturo comes charging in with Hector trailing behind. Arturo and Mariano stare at each other like two greyback gorillas squaring off for battle. I swear Arturo even flared his nostrils. Mariano gives him the ol’ “what?” Aida tries to pretend nothing is going on and invites them to a nightclub. Arturo says no thanks and leaves. Mariano continues pacing and posturing like any good gorilla would and even makes a move as though he’ll go after Arturo but Aida stops him. Arturo is back in his room, barely able to control himself, saying to himself, “Teresa lied to me!” He walks over to Teresa’s suitcase and flings it across the floor. All the while he’s talking to himself. “¡Maldito! He stood there shamelessly and didn’t answer me truthfully the day I asked him” Kicks the suitcase. “How he must have laughed. ¡Maldito Mariano!” Boom, another soccer kick to the suitcase. Oh, he is really steamed!

Aurora understands how difficult this is but thinks Teresa should talk to Arturo and tell him. Teresa doesn’t think it’s necessary now that there shouldn’t be any further problems between Arturo and Mariano, thanking Aurora and Hector for talking to them both. As Aurora’s telling her things seem to have worked out and Mariano seems very happy with Aida, Juana comes up telling Teresa about Arturo’s appearance in the game room. He seemed very upset and she needs to go check on him.

Arturo is sitting in the darkened bedroom fuming and thought bubbles Teresa’s confession to Aurora about having had sex with Mariano. Teresa walks in and immediately knows something’s wrong. He just glares at her.

Aurora asks dad to no avail. No one seems to know what’s bugging Arturo. Juana figures he’s apparently angry with Mariano, again. The bell goes off in Aurora’s head and I’m sure she’s wondering if he overheard her conversation with Tere. Dad asks if she knows of a problem between the couple, and Aurora hopes there isn’t any.

Teresa begins picking up the battered suitcase and asks what’s wrong. Nothing, he says. She insists, saying his face says something is wrong. He snaps “Estoy que me lleva el Diablo (the devil’s got me). Is that what you want to hear?” He sheds a tear as he thought bubbles again to the moment where Teresa tells Aurora he’d kill her if he found out. She loves him and will put her marriage first, etc. Teresa pleads with him to tell her what’s wrong. He tells her he’s furious and disappointed (defraudado). She’s getting scared and asks who disappointed him. She’s never seen him like this. He’s very angry and says he thought he had everything under control. But as it turn out SOMEONE knew more than he. She’s still trying to understand what’s going on. He needs to solve this himself. He’s the one who got himself into this. She doesn’t understand. She’s gone for five minutes to talk with Aurora and returns to this. What happened? She’s is wife. She wants him to know what happened to him. He says bad things happen when you least expect them. He was so stupid to believe in…….he pauses then says to believe in Saenz’ partner. She’s surprised to see him so upset over the Saenz case and tells him not to be so worried. Everything will be ok. She turns her puppy eyes to him and asks if there’s anything she can do to help him. She doesn’t realize it but that is probably not the best approach at this time. She kisses him but gets no response. He apologizes then leaves. Ooooh, tiburoncita doesn’t know what just happened.

Martin is ready to go to the club and wants Aurora to go with them. She wants to talk to Teresa. Everyone, Martin, Hector, and Juana tells her to let the newlyweds work out their own problems.

La Vecindad (combo scenes): Johnny and Espe chat about her knitting, then about him picking her up later to take her to work, then about bringing her back some churros. Cutberto shows up drunk to look for the pieces of his broken heart that Juana has surely scattered around her apartment. He starts opening drawers and Espe asks Johnny to stop him. Yawn. He’s looking for the homemade card he gave her because he’s realized he means nothing to her. Espe doesn’t understand why they’re each with another when they can be so happy together. Cutberto doesn’t understand why Juana doesn’t love him. He even asked her to marry him and have his children. Is it possible Teresa convinced her not to be with him?

Cuernavaca (combo scenes): They’re in another part of the house now (living room?) and Teresa asks again if he’s ok. Arturo says he’s not but he’ll be ok soon. He doesn’t even turn to look at her. She’s never seen him like this and wonders if Mariano being here has caused this. At the mention of his name, Arturo turns to look at her. She’s telling him they shouldn’t allow him to bother them and she wishes she could erase him from her life. She reaches out to him but he takes both her arms and pushes her aside. He doesn’t think you can erase the past and forget it. Do what you will, your past always catches up with you. Your past marks you forever and makes you into the person you are today. She’s not following him. He wonders if she thinks she can forget what she lived/had with someone from her past. She’s still not getting it and asks if this has to do with Paloma. No, he says he’s speaking generally and brings up her sister. Has she forgotten what they shared before she died? That’s what he’s talking about. The good times and the bad. The times that make their mark on us forever. She reminds him they had agreed to put the past, Paloma and Mariano, behind them,. She reaches out for him again and again he pushes her aside. She asks him to come to bed. He thought bubbles about the conversation he had with Paloma when she was trying to tell him about Mariano and Teresa. Then he says mostly to himself that he needs details. Tere hears him and wonders what details he’s talking about. He lies and says it has to do with the case and announces he’s leaving for D.F. She offers to pack their suitcases and he tells her not to bother, she’s staying here. She protests, saying she’s his wife and she should go with him. He tells her it’s business and besides, she wanted to come here to enjoy herself. Not without him, she says. Mariano and Aida walk by on their way to the club and invite them to join them. No, thanks. Now Juana comes up and Arturo asks her to watch over his tiburoncita since he’s called away on business.

Casa Caceres: Mayra’s come back from a shopping spree and then tells Ruben she’s off on a mysterious errand. Don’t bother to ask cuz she’s not telling him. As soon as she leaves, he pulls out his cell. It rings at Geno’s who refuses to answer. He leaves her a message telling her he’s worried about where Mayra is headed and wants to talk to her about it.

Cuernavaca: Teresa tells Aurora about Arturo’s impromptu trip to D.F. She’s really worried. Aurora’s glad to hear it’s about business. She was afraid he’d heard their conversation about Mariano. Teresa refuses to even think about that possibility.

Casa de la Barrera: Fernando looks at Art&Tere’s wedding picture as Luisa finishes up at the computer. She kisses him again and again he is very distant. She suggests they go out to dinner and share some time together. He begs off, saying he’s really very tired and wants to go home to bed. Luisa’s worried.

La Vecindad: Knock at the door, and Espe assumes it’s Johnny and opens the door without asking who’s there. Mayra swoops in! She’s there to tell her she’s decided to give Ruben another chance. Espe doesn’t understand her purpose in being there. Mayra supposes that in the past she never would have dreamed of coming here but she announces she’s a new woman now. Espe still doesn’t understand what that has to do with her. She’s already promised she’ll leave Ruben alone and never plans to see him again. She tells her of her plan to leave the vecindad, that there’s “someone” else in her life now and it’s because of that person that she’s planning on leaving. Of course Mayra assumes she’s with another man.

Cuernavaca: Juana and Teresa are dressed for bed. Juana doesn’t understand why Teresa is so upset. Tere doesn’t like the way he treated her. She’s sure it’s something to with more than business. Plus, he up and leaves her there! Everyone went out to enjoy themselves. Aurora with Martin, that desgraciada with Mariano. Truthfully, she would have like to go with them. She’s come to the realization that her life is very different from other women her age. Juana tells her she should’ve thought about that before marrying an older man. Tere pouts that he promised he’d always be aware of what she wanted. Juana feels he’s already given in to her many times and she can’t think he’d want to be out there gallivanting around in a nightclub. He’s an important man and it wouldn’t be seemly. Teresa’s working herself into a berrinche now, wondering if she’s supposed to be satisfied with attending charity auctions, dinners, and all those other boring events!

Mariano and Aurora are at the gate, returning from their night out. He wants to know why Arturo was so angry. She tells him it was about business and he’s not satisfied with that answer. He wants to know more. Finally, Aurora has had it. ¡Basta! The world doesn’t revolve around Teresa! He needs to stop worrying and thinking about her or he’ll never be happy. She storms off.

Casa de Paloma: Ruh-roh! There’s a knock at the door and Paloma goes to see who’s come a-calling at this hour. You guessed it. It’s Arturo! He tells her she was right. Teresa deceived him. She goes to hug him and he’s crying. Damn!

Triunfo del Amor #143 6/7/11 Triumph of longing – for a child, for a mother, for a lover

Bad Bernie’s where we left her -- in front of the church-sized Cristo in her home, still gnashing her teeth over Victoria's learning the identity of her daughter:
¡Las tengo que separar para siempre!
(I have to separate them forever!)
Bells are ringing and it ain’t the Avon lady.

And the sad conversation between Victoria and María Desamparada by Choice is over. Now, outside the apartment, Victoria wonders if MD will ever be able to forgive her. While inside, MD leans on the door and sinks miserably to the floor and thinks:
Dios mio, no tengo fuerzas para perdonarla.
(My God, I don’t have the strength to forgive her.)
She holds the magical crucifix.

Max gets to the vecindad in time to meet Vic on her way out. She tells him how profoundly unhappy she is, that she is now paying for her arrogance. He wants to know if this has anything to do with María. It does, admits Vic. She is deeply wounded by something that happened but she prefers not to say any more about it. She heads out. And Max goes inside to see María.

I found my mother, María announces flatly. My mother is Victoria Sandoval.

Max is impactado: How do you know that? Who told you?

María tells him how she and Vic got into an argument and went into the apartment to continue scratching each other’s eyes out in private. It was then that Vic caught sight of the magic crucifijo (which -- holy Mejía! -- now twinkles). And she knew.

Max thinks that is just excellent news. María should be, like, happy.

Um. Not exactly. It’s kind of a downer to find out your real mother is an arrogant tyrant, a woman who has made you suffer so much. But Max insists she is being too hard on Vic. After all, he knows first-hand how much she struggled to find her lost daughter. But María isn’t budging. She nurses too many hard feelings, too much resentment, too much hatred. Quite simply, she says: No la quiero.

At home, tragic hunky Dr. Heri reflects on the promise he made to his wife on her deathbed. He swore – but only because she insisted – that when she was gone, he would find another woman to share his life with. He never kept that promise – he never found another woman to take her place. [Is it just me or did anyone else see the number on the bottom of the screen: 1-800-LUV HERI?] And then he thinks about Victoria…

Victoria, now back at Casa Sandoval, can’t stop thinking of María’s harsh words:

Understand once and for all that little María – your little María – is dead!

Osvaldo sees how stricken she looks. She tells him that what she was longing for has happened – she has finally found her daughter. And it’s ... Wait a sec. Set up the echo chamber, Sal. Okay, listo:
María Desamparada! María Desamparada! María Desamparada!

Let’s look in on the happiest couple in the vecindad, Fer and Cruz. They are in bed chatting about his plans to record a disco, his determination to become a vet. Smoochies, a red rose, weird animated hearts. ♪♪ Mi riqueza ♪♪ One thing leads to another. Bottom line: If Fer is not with child, it’s not for lack of trying.

At Casa Sandoval, it’s now Osvaldo’s turn to be impactado. He can’t believe it. María?

Yes, says Vic wretchedly. It's María. The same María who despises me and wants nothing to do with me. And it’s all my fault for treating her so badly. Even so, she tells Os, María’s rejection was the most painful moment of her life, more painful than losing her in the first place. She is sure that María will never forgive her, not after all the harm she’s done to her.

Back to Cruz and Fer, still snuggling in bed now in a smoke ‘em if you got ‘em moment. Fer decides she’ll pay a visit to Dr. Heri’s consultorio tomorrow to find out why she hasn’t gotten pregnant.

Victoria, alone in her bedroom, prays for a second chance with María and hopes the day will come when MD calls her “mamá”.

It’s a new day and María comes to see PJP at the church. She knows Victoria is her mother but it gives her no joy. On the contrary, the knowledge is bitter and painful. Juan Pablo knew. Why didn’t he warn her? He couldn’t, he tells her, because he was bound by the secret of the confessional. But he did try to prepare her. And María knows how much Victoria has suffered…

María doesn’t want to hear it. She doesn’t believe Vic even has feelings. She will never forgive her! Her stony declaration:
Last night Victoria ceased to exist. She is dead to me!

PJP begs her to show some compassion for Vic – it’s her own mother she’s talking about. And it’s not good to hold on to all that hatred. She needs to learn to forgive.

I can’t, says María. And how sad -- if this is my family, I was better off as an orphan.

Doña Bernarda de Iturbide has summoned Guillermo to her office. She has a little job for him:
Quiero desaparecer a Victoria Sandoval y a María Desamparada para siempre.(I want to get rid of Vic and MD forever).
[So Gui, before you sign on with Bernie, you might want to talk to some of her former employees. Oh wait. They’re mostly in hell, aren’t they? (Except for poor Tomasa who is in that pueblito norteño in the sky).]

At Casa Sandoval, Max understands that María’s rejection is very painful to Victoria; and he is sympathetic. But he also reminds her that she brought this on herself. He doesn’t know if María will forgive her; if she does, it won’t come easy. He’ll do what he can to soften María’s heart.

Victoria, remembering MD and Alonso together, tells Max she’ll never forgive herself if, because of her, he and María stop loving each other. That will never happen, he tells her.

Of course poor deluded Alonso thinks differently. And now, alone with María in the vecindad, he tries to help her sort out her feelings toward Vic. He encourages her to let go of her resentment and embrace the chance to be with her mother. He also reminds her of Bernie’s role in the way her life played out. If the Demented One hadn’t kept JP unaware of Vic’s pregnancy, things would have turned out very differently.

María tells Alonso the same thing she told Max and Juan Pablo: She can’t accept Vic as her mother.

I’d give my life to make you happy, Alonso tells her. [And here, some in the viewing audience are shuffling their feet impatiently.] You love me that much? asks María. She allows him to lean in and caress her face but she deflects his kiss to her cheek. I’m so sorry, she says, it’s just that… But Alonso won’t hear apologies. He promised he’d be patient.

But not all that patient. He’s downright grumpy when Max shows up at the door casting a large shadow: Are you here to trash María’s life again? Go away, Max, please, go away!

Fer and Cruz sit in Dr. Heri’s office at CRIT and explain their problem. Still no pregnancy “por más que nos aplicamos” (as hard as we try).
Heri thinks a second operation may help. Fer’s thrilled they have a chance and she’d like the surgery done “lo más pronto que se pueda” (as soon as possible).

Alonso is still trying to get Max to leave. After all, María has made her choice. But Max reminds him that he and María have a child together –

Here Alonso interjects pathetically: Soon little Juan Pablo will have lots of brothers and sisters --

But he grudgingly agrees to step out so María and Max can talk privately, maybe for the last time.

As soon as he is out the door, our lovers fly into one another’s arms. Te amo's. Smoochies.

In the final scene, Doña Bernarda de Iturbide comes to call on Victoria. She has a little disinformation to share: María Desamparada is not your daughter!

But Victoria knows what she knows. Her proof? First, the crucifix. Second, Bernie herself told her --
-- Hey, I lied, says Bernie.
And third her maternal instinct (mi corazón de madre) which drew her to María even when Bernie poisoned Vic against her. [No room for DNA in Victoria’s epistemology]

You no longer have any power over me, says Victoria. But the Demented One isn’t done. She asks her to recall how she lost María in the first place. Some heartless person ran us over, says Vic. Well, says Demente:
Esa persona desalmada fui yo. Yo las atropellé a propósito porque quería verlas muertas... ¡muertas a las dos!
(That heartless person was me. I ran you over deliberately because I wanted to see you dead – both of you dead!)

Say what??
