Teresa Fri 7/22/11 #102 Sharkita Trumps Vanessssa, Fito es Maldito, y Llegó el Gigoló Hugo.

(combined scenes throughout)

RUH-ROH!! Chica selling cookbooks asks Teresa if she ever found Mariano? IN FRONT OF LUISA!!! HAHAHA!

CASA ALCAZAR: Vanesssssa has her bags packed and ready by the door but she wants a few words with Hector before she vacates the premises. He tells her she had it coming. He had made it very clear that anything between them was impossible and that he loves Juana. Vanessa accuses him of only wanting revenge. No, what he wants is to live peacefully (tranquilo) and that she respect Juana. Vanessa thinks he just wants to separate her from her hija, but she will not permit it! She’s tried to reconcile with him but he’s rejected her. Now he’s forcing her to do things she doesn’t want to do. She’s upset that he divorced her without notifying her. Hector loses it and raises his voice, telling her he would have told her if he only knew where she was! She was the one who disappeared so don’t come here with your silly stories and now you need to scram! Aurora walks in and says, “Vamonos” Hector takes that to mean she’s driving her to a hotel. Aurora clarifies that she means to move in with Vanessssssa. Hector is heartbroken and Vanessa’s head is downcast, playing the victim. Hector begs her to reconsider. Aurora comments that this is his house and will soon be Juana’s as well and Vanessa won’t be able to visit her whenever she wants. Sooner or later this would cause problems between Vanessa and Juana and it isn’t fair to either of them. Hector is nearly crying and says he isn’t about to lose her because of Vanessa. Vanessa really lays it on thick now. She humbly apologizes to Hector, then turns to Aurora saying she doesn’t want to affect her relationship with her father. Hector looks on in disbelief. Well, hang on good Doctor, cuz here comes another blow. Juana walks in saying, “that’s not going to happen. I’m the extra one here.” Hector can’t believe this is happening.

FERNANDO’S APT: Sharkita starts tap dancing, saying she wasn’t looking for Mariano but she had heard from Aida that he lived here. She hastily buys two cookbooks to get rid of the chatty neighbor. Then she asks Luisa if she should tell Arturo, acting as though she’s soooo concerned and doesn’t want any problems. Luisa advises her to tell him. It would be much worse if they run into each other and he finds out Teresa knew all along.

The talk turns to the wedding. Teresa’s afraid that if Oriana orders it, she won’t be one of Luisa’s bridesmaids, since she isn’t “high society”. Luisa understands but hasn’t said anything because she’s doesn’t want to rock the boat. Teresa also doesn’t want to cause problems with her future Monster-in-law. Luisa tells her that Arturo basically put Oriana in her place. She’s sure she can convince Oriana that Teresa must be a bridesmaid and besides if it weren’t for her, she and Fernando wouldn’t be novios. Teresa hugs her and says she’s so happy she’s letting her help with the wedding.

CASA BARRERA: Arturo wants to make sure Fernando really wants to marry Luisa and isn’t just giving in to his mother. Fer assures him Luisa is the love of his life, etc., etc. Arturo warns him that better be so because in the event there is a problem in the future, he’ll come looking for him - not his mother. Fer laughs this off and tells him he has nothing to worry about. There are other things they need to discuss, Arturo says, among them the question of money. He tells Fer that Luisa is protected financially with what their parents left her and also with what he’s given her. Fernando says he will take care of Luisa and promises Arturo that she will live in a manner she deserves. Arturo suggests a pre-nup since Fernando has so much money. Uh-oh, Odiosa Oriana has just slithered in and of course voices her opinion. She’s against a pre-nup, saying that would be offensive to Luisa. Arturo mentions that’s what is done these days and it’s best to have everything out in the open from the beginning. (He and Teresa didn’t sign one, right?) Oriana feels this is only done when there is little confidence in the couple. But that’s not the case here. Fer chimes in saying what’s hers is hers and what’s his will be hers and for their children. Oh, I like that! Arturo’s still not convinced but Oriana waves his objections aside saying Luisa will be a wonderful wife and mother. She will be part of her family with all the obligations and privileges that come with it.

CASA ALCAZAR: Juana pleads her case. They can continue their relationship away from this house. Hector attempts to say something but she stops him, telling him to allow Aurora and her mother to continue to live there, for Aurora’s sake. She takes him away so they can talk alone. Vanessa doesn’t understand that woman – first she’s all drama and now she’s the peacemaker. Aurora just cries. Vanesssssssa now says she agrees with Juana that they should stay and later they can convince Hector to return. Ugh. What a snake!

FITO EL MALDITO meets Johnny on a corner. They chat back and forth – Fito lures him with all the potential earnings and how Pati can continue to live the life she’s accustomed to. Johnny hems and haws – bottom line: Fito wants to know if he’s in. Johnny doesn’t like it and tells him his dealings are bien grueso (slang for really bad, heavy). Fito says fine, then don’t be surprised to find the little woman ice cold in the middle of the street! This really scares Johnny and he pleads for Pati’s safety. Fito relents and says well, maybe not in the middle of the street - how ‘bout on the sidewalk? Johnny gives in and agrees to continue working for him, until Fito can find someone else. Fito laughs his maldito laugh and makes sure Johnny knows he’ll be working for him until he decides different.

CASA CHAVEZ: Armando’s excited about a conversation he had with Amadeo about savings. He hopes to one day save enough so they can buy their own home. Refugio actually likes the idea. Wow, she actually agrees? Pati arrives saying Johnny’s held up somewhere and she talks about her ongoing sewing lessons.

HECTOR AND JUANA are in a restaurant discussing the Aurora/Vanessa situation. He’s not in agreement that Juana stay away from his house. She has every right to be there, not Vanessa. Juana, being the docile person that she is, says it’s because Vanessa is her mother. He repeats she lost all her rights when she left 20 years ago. Juana tries to get him to understand it’s for Aurora’s own good. She’s regained her mother and she’s afraid of losing her again. He’s amazed by Juana. Instead of Vanessa sacrificing herself for her daughter, it’s Juana who’s doing all the sacrificing. Juana feels it’s what’s right. Now if it were only a question of dealing with Vanessa, “otro gallo nos cantara” (that would be another rooster’s song). He’s really taken by her sensitivity. He promises her he has no feelings for his ex. He’ll be moving to a hotel or to Hernan’s until they marry. If it were up to him, they’d marry today. He kisses her hand.

CASA ALCAZAR: Vanessa’s on the phone with the mysterious “mi amor”, telling him/her that she managed to stay in the house but Hector’s moved out. She’ll find a way to get him to move back in. She has to hang up and hurriedly stashes the cell behind the sofa cushion as Aurora walks in (looking like a schoolgirl, I might add. Looks like my Catholic high school uniform sans the boots). She confronts her about kissing Hector on the mouth as both Hector and Juana said. Vanessa says she has no reason to lie (choke). Aurora’s so worried because it’s so clear to her Vanessa still loves Hector. Vanessa lays it on thick, saying not only is her heart breaking, but also all her dreams that they could be a family once again. Aurora wishes things had been different. Not to worry, says Vanessa. They’ve lost the battle not the war. She knows Aurora can convince Hector to return home and she promises she won’t go near him again.

CASA BARRERA: Arturo’s had a rough day dealing with Saenz. Teresa tells him not to worry, it’s only another client. He comes clean with her, telling her he’s not just another client. He’s Saenz’ aval (there’s that word again, meaning bank guarantee). He spells it out for her (and me) that if Saenz were to renege on his loans, Arturo would be responsible. Teresa is speechless….and she wants an explanation, as do I. Saenz was helpful when Arturo exonerated his father and recaptured his inheritance. Saenz had some great business dealings and Arturo financed his first two ventures and they had great profits. Later he became his aval. She knows he’s a great lawyer and he won’t lose this case. He can’t, he’d lose everything. She takes this moment to tell him Mariano lives in the same complex as Fernando. Yeah, kick him when he’s down. Arturo reacts as expected and asks Teresa to visit Fer/Luisa as little as possible. She assures him that if she meets up with Mariano, she will not pay him any attention. Juana arrives just then.

CASA ALCAZAR (AKA musical suitcases): Now it’s Hector’s turn to have his suitcases ready. Aurora pleads with him not to leave. He has to do it for Juana’s sake. Hector promises to see her every day at the hospital and whenever she wants as long as it’s not here. Mariano arrives as they’re saying their good-byes. Aurora explains. She tells him Hector and Juana are adamant Vanessa kissed him on the lips while Vanessa insists she kissed him on the cheek. Mariano can’t believe Hector would lie and Aurora feels her mother has no reason to lie. Mariano feels it’s a good idea they not live under the same roof (techo). Vanessa comes in welcoming Mariano and saying how much she wants to get to know Aurorita’s little friends. She’s happy he can join them for dinner. He asks if he can invite his novia, Aida to join them. Sure, why not.

CASA BARRERA: Juana has told Teresa about the goings on at Casa Alcazar. They’re both convinced Vanessa wants Hector back. Teresa doesn’t agree with Juana’s agreement to stay away. She should make it very clear to Vanessa that Juana’s the new woman in Hector’s life. Teresa reminds her of a dicho: “El hombre es fuego, la mujer estopa. Llega el Diablo y le sopla.” (literal: Man is Fire, Woman is tow/coarse cloth, then the devil comes to blow on them and POOF! Spontaneous combustion!) In other words, don’t let Vanessa get her hands on him or there may be FIRE!. Not everyone is like you, Teresa although we could say that she and Vanessssa are made from the same cloth. Anyway, Juana’s convinced Hector won’t go back to VAnessa because he no longer loves her. Teresa knows Vanessa will try to snatch him, she knows the type (yeah, look in the mirror). Juana is resigned to the situation. She couldn’t allow Aurora to move out, it would break his heart. Teresa is frustrated that Juana always puts others before herself. She needs to show more pride. Vanessa must be full of herself right about now but Juana needs to show her she’s just won one battle. Juana whines she doesn’t want to fight, she just wants to continue seeing Hector. Teresa says it doesn’t appear that way since she leaves him where temptation will find him. Just then the maid announces a visitor for Juana. It’s Hector, my roly-poly prince! He’s come by to tell Juana that he’s moved in with Hernan.

CASA ALCAZAR: Hola, hola, AEEEEEEEEDA’S arrived! She immediately asks after the good doctor. After an uncomfortable pause, Vanessa admits he left after she had a disagreement with Juana. “HE PREFERS LA MADRINA DE TERESA!?”, Aeeeeeda screeches. Vanessa hadn’t realized she was Teresa’s godmother.

CHEZ JOHNNY/PATI He’s arrived home and she proudly shows him the shirt she’s made him. He’s muy deprimido. He tells her he won’t be driving the taxi tonight because he wants to spend the evening with her. He wants this to be an unforgettable evening. He pulls her to him and we see he’s very sad.

THE FOLLOWING MORNING AT GRUMPY GRAMPS NEIGHBORHOOD: Johnny has come looking for Granpa. Aw, he’s going to sacrifice himself! He tells Gramps he was right, he never should have married Pati and asks if he’ll take her back or send her to Puebla with her parents. Gramps is bulging-eyes-IMPACTADO!

OUTDOOR CAFÉ: We finally meet Vanesssssa’s amor - Hugo! She runs to greet him and they embrace and kiss. They can’t keep their hands off each other as they express how much they’ve longed to be together. They finally sit and he gets to business, asking if she’s managed to get the money from her husband. She tells him it hasn’t been as easy as she had thought, there’s a tipa around that has complicated things. He’ll need to be patient. He complains she promised she’d have the money by now. How much longer is he supposed to wait? He’s desperate for money or he won’t be able to pay the rent and they won’t have a place to live. She promises to do whatever is necessary to get him the money he needs. Holy Gigolo! He knows she’ll do what’s necessary but “de amor no come” (love doesn’t feed you) If he doesn’t get that money, he’ll have to move away from here and neither of them want that. She begs him to be patient. He tells her he can’t go on living like this without a single peso, worried about everything. She gives him some money Aurora gave her and promises there will be more. He shouldn’t want for anything and she doesn’t want him to worry. They start making out at the table as he tells her he wants her body and her caresses (acaricias). He pulls away from her and checks out the money she gave him, telling her everything is going well.

GRUMPY GRAMPS calls Johnny un desgraciado! Now that he’s had his way with his granddaughter he wants her to move back?! Johnny says he’s doing this for Pati’s own good. Granpa says he should’ve thought of that before he took her. Johnny swears if he had known things would turn out this way, he never would have taken her. Granpa wonders if Johnny has the nerve to think he can bring her back and live with them. Johnny only wants her to be safe and protected. Granpa counters by saying she was already safe and secure before he showed up in her life. Infeliz! He accuses him of never having loved her. He shoves Johnny aside as he walks away.

CASA BARRERA: Tere’s on Arturo’s lap and he tells her he needs to get back to work on the Saenz case. He tells her she can help by taking on a new client whose husband divorced her without notification (gee, wonder who?). He explains she married for community property and now wants to take half of everything her husband owns. DOORBELL! Teresa goes to greet the new “client” and smiles her sharky smile as the Cobra-Haired Vanessa slithers in. Good thing Teresa speaks parseltongue! [shoutout to Harry Potter fans] “So, you’re the one who wants to take half of everything from Aurora’s father!” Vanessa checks out the house and Teresa confirms that, yes, this is her home. Obviously Aurora didn’t tell her she was married to Arturo de la Barrera. Vanessa says she’s here to see Licenciado Barrera because Hector divorced her without notification. Teresa points out he had every right to do so since she disappeared for so many years. She’s surprised the good doctor waited so long to move on. At least until he met her madrina. Vanessa struggles to contain herself as she says she wanted to talk to an attorney to see if she is entitled to anything after being married for so many years. (never mind she was gone for most of them). Teresa assures her she knows exactly why she’s here. Vanessa thinks it’s best she find another attorney because of Teresa’s friendship with Aurora. Maybe she’ll talk it over with Hector. Teresa tells her, “Please, don’t play the innocent. You’re in it for the money, to see what you can get. It’s no use denying it. We both know that’s the truth. I’ll tell you right now that you won’t get anything because it was my husband who managed Hector’s divorce.” Arturo walks down and introduces himself to la Señora Coronel, who seems to be in shock. Teresa recaps what he told her earlier, that this woman wanted to know how much money she can get from her ex-marido and she told her that she won’t get anything through them because she’s Aurora’s mother! Duhn-duhn-DUHNN. Arturo’s impactado. He repeats what Teresa’s already told her. Neither of them will take her case.

CASA JOHNNY/PATI: Johnny arrives home to find a package waiting for him from Gemma. Pati’s so happy, thinking it’s some kind of bonus. They open the package and find various food items. Pati reads the attached card: “Just so you’ll know we’re thinking of you and especially your wife.” Johnny is frantic and sweeps everything from the table, frightening Pati. He yells at her, telling her he doesn’t want her there, it was a mistake to get married. She doesn’t understand, they were so happy this morning. He shoves her away telling her he’s no longer happy. She should go back to her granpa, they were wrong to marry.

CASA CHAVEZ: Pati has gone to cry on Refugio’s shoulder. She doesn’t understand how he could have changed so much from one day to the next. Refugio’s at a loss to understand it after they worked so hard to be together. Pati wonders if it may have to do with working so hard to support her and Espe. Refugio doesn’t understand either but reminds her they all told her marriage wasn’t easy and that they had to trust each other. Pati’s so confused, if only he’d tell her what is going on.

Later, Pati is crying at the shrine to La Virgen de Guadalupe. Refugio wants to know what happened, did they argue? Pati says no, it came on suddenly. She doesn’t know where he is now and doesn’t know if he’ll return. She prays to La Virgen that he'll return.

CASA BARRERA: Arturo and Teresa are talking, rather she’s talking about Vanessa and what a sinvergüenza (shameless) she is. Arturo has no doubt about that. When she called him she was very clear she wanted to fight for half of all his assets (bienes). Teresa declares this is el colmo! (the end). This is all out of proportion, she abandoned her husband and daughter with no thought to how she would suffer. Arturo feels for Aurora but feels it’s best to tell her what’s happened because Vanessssa is sure to find another attorney. It’s clear to Teresa that Vanessa never wanted Aurora. Juana has come downstairs and has heard Teresa. She wants to know why she thinks that.

Outside, Vanessa gets into Hugo’s waiting car and tells him she’s in a fix. The recommended attorney turns out to be the same one that fixed Hectors divorce! She pleads with him not to be angry. (uh-oh, this guy’s starting to scare me now) It’s just that the idiota friend of Aurora turns out to be the attorney’s wife. He wouldn’t believe all the things she said and is sure to repeat everything to Aurora, including the part that Vanessa is after half of Hector’s assets. Hugo starts to get really ugly. He literally bares his teeth as he admonishes her for being so stupid. She pleads with him not to say that and swears she’ll find a way to get that money.

CASA BARRERA: Arturo and Tere have told Juana the story. She can’t believe Vanessa can be so desalmada (soulless, merciless). To think she’s come after money when she could be by the side of such a sweet, marvelous daughter. Tere can’t help being jealous and notes how much Juana seems to love Aurora. Juana can’t help herself, Aurora’s so sweet, so tender. This is going to really hurt her. Arturo says they can’t keep this from her. Juana thinks they should tell Hector first. They all decide it would be best for him to decide what’s best for his daughter. Tere notes the time and reminds Arturo of his dealings with Saenz. Before he leaves, she tells him he must win that case, no matter what!

Out in the car: Oh brother! Hugo tells Vanesssssa he’s desperate. He can’t work just anywhere. He’s an artist! He needs calmness. He needs inspiration during this “creative crisis”. She understands and knows she’ll come up with something. Hugo tells her she has to or he’ll have to leave and the last thing he wants is to be separated from her. She begs him not to say that. He wonders if her daughter can help her with something, or perhaps her ex would be willing to pay her a good sum to keep her away from his daughter. She agrees to everything as he kisses her. EEEEEEW – a slimy, weasely gigolo!

CASA BARRERA: Juana asks Tere about the Saenz case. Tere tells her about Arturo being Saenz’ alva (there it is again!) I’m glad to see that Juana doesn’t know what this is either. Anyway, Tere explains that if Saenz were to be jailed, Arturo would be responsible for all his debts, in the millions. She’s angustiada (distressed, anguished) about this. He stands to lose a major part of his money and she can’t permit that to happen! Juana advises her to stand by her man. She’ll see that he’ll win. Juana’s off to see Hector. Teresa feels it’s best she be the one to tell him about Vanessa. To think that woman was trying to get between them. Teresa’s left alone to think. She must take precautions (prevenir) and protect herself from all sides. Cue the Jaws Theme. If Arturo loses, she needs to have a stash somewhere else and it doesn’t matter who is sacrificed.

CASA DE GENOVEVA: She’s giving Ruben a backrub and says she would love to tell everyone that they’re a couple and are very happy together. He says he’d like to do the same but, sigh, she knows that’s impossible. She then asks how his divorce is coming along. He asks if she’s now going to insist that he marry her. She denies this. He explains he’s prolonging the divorce proceedings to buy time so he can re-organize Mayra’s businesses. He needs time and money. She suggests he hurry because if Mayra or Aida find out about the fraud, they won’t forgive him. He agrees. As it is, they won’t forgive him because Esperanza is having his baby. OUR baby, she corrects him. That baby will be theirs. Once it’s born they need only to snatch him from her arms. He tells her to stop insisting on that. He’ll talk to Esperanza about giving him the baby but first he needs to return Mayra’s money to avoid any risks. Geno knows Espe won’t give up that baby so they may as well start thinking of how they’ll get him. Ruben looks at her as though he’s just realizing what a crazy a$$ b!tch he’s gotten involved with.

EL CLUB: Aurora, in a not so friendly tone, asks why Teresa has asked to meet her there. Teresa’s hurt by her attitude and tells her she really does care for her. Aurora’s told her in the past that she’s insincere but she’s wrong and she may not like what she’s about to tell her. She asks if Aurora trusts her mother. Absolutely, says Aurora, and doesn’t understand why she’s asking. Teresa says she hesitated to tell her this but she put herself in Aurora’s place and decided she would want her friends to be honest with her. She begins by telling her that when her mother reappeared, she thought it was because of her. In reality, she’s returned to fight Hector for money and demand (exigir) what she feels is owed her as a result of the divorce. Aurora is muy, muy impactada.

Cuando Me Enamoro #68 Friday 7/22/11 The Pueblo Weathers the Tormenta and Roberta Suffers at the Hands of Mamita.

Roberta begs her mom to take her to the hospital. Fina snaps at her to stop whining.

Chema runs into Selene at a club and has a chat with her. He asks her if she took the pictures of him and Constanza. Sele plays dumb. Chema knows it's no coincidence that these photos showed up after he turned Sele down. It's partly her fault that Coni and Hon broke up. Sele gives a smug smile.

Roberta gingerly crawls into bed after a shower. She cries as she sends a desperate text to Selene. "Come to my house. I need help. Please, I need you." Sele gets the text but scoffs. Like she would help Berta after their falling out.

Jero stares out the window at the torrents of rain, wondering where Renata could be. Meanwhile, Nata jumps back from a window in Augie's office as a huge bolt of lightning strikes. Augie says they haven't seen a storm this bad in more than 10 years. Nata is glad that she's safe at Augie's but she worries about all the townspeople who are going to suffer. They are surely about to lose their crops, animals, and possibly their lives because of the storm. Nata suggests they set up a safe house for the people of the pueblo. Augie says that her charity will have to wait until the storm blows over.

Lazaro takes the wheel as he drives Carlos, Regina, and Manuela through the storm. Just as Manuela finishing praying for their safety, lightning strikes a tree that falls in front of the jeep. Lazaro bumps into it and that somehow knocks Carlos out.

The church has been turned into a haven for storm refugees. Zeke hurries in to warn Padre that the flood is getting closer to the houses in town. Plus, no one can find Dr. RapeySnake and they still haven't heard from the workers at La Bonita. He mentions to Padre that Nata left La Bonita and is safe at Agustin's.

Dr. Worthless T. Drunkard lives up to his name as the bartender heads for the hills, leaving Doc to (hopefully) drown himself in liquor. Alfonsina tells Kari about the disappeared Doc. Kari grabs her coat to go gather supplies from his office. Alfi hopes that Doc falls off the face of the earth.

Jero angsts over Agustin's interest in Nata. "She is my woman and she still is!" Matilde tells Jero about everyone having left to go help out at the church. Jero sets out for the same destination and Mati tags along.

Augie places a blanket on top of a sleeping Nata. "Your smell drives me wild." Augie thinks. Ay, he just keeps getting creepier. Nata jerks awake by yelling Jero's name. She's afraid something might have happened to Jero. She cannot hate him, even though she wants to. Augie assures Nata all is well over at La Bonita and tries to convince her to forget Jero.

Lazaro and Co. start freaking out. Carlos is out cold and the car won't start. Thankfully, Jero and Mati pull up behind them to save the day.

Alfonsina folds together a make-shift bandage for an injured little boy. She worries about why Karina hasn't returned with the medical supplies. The storm bears down on the church. Dr. Useless T. Pervert stumbles in, booze oozing out of every clogged pore he possesses. He slurs his words horrendously and Padre is incensed. Doc promptly passes out like the lump of wasted tissue he is.

Karina grabs all the medicine and medical supplies she can carry. A huge support beam collapses in front of the office door, trapping Kari. Flood water gushes into the building. Kari screams for help as she tries to block the water from getting into the room. Another beam falls from the ceiling, striking Kari in the head. Kari lies helpless as the flood water finally bursts into the room. :(

Everyone from the jeep accident has squeezed into Jero's car. Matilde cradles Carlos's head in her lap and cries. Mati thinks the accident was her fault; Carlos was hurt because of the curse on her. Jero tells her to calm down.

Fina brings Berta a cup of tea and some aspirin. Berta begs to go to the hospital once again. Everyone is going to find out she lost the baby anyway! Fina doesn't care. They have to wait. She spins some more BS to Matias and asks about combining the bedrooms once Berta and Mat get married. (Woman, your daughter is bleeding to death in the next room and bedroom decor is your primary concern?! GTFO.)

Matias says he and Berta are only going to be together for a year and in separate rooms. Fina gloats to herself that Mat will be stuck with Berta for ten years. Then she pulls a face because Berta had the nerve to lose the little brat that held the plan together.

Nata watches the storm from the window. Her life has become a storm - especially after the fiasco with Jero. She wonders how she can ever trust a man again after what she's been through. Matias failed her by running off with Berta and Jero turned out to be el Jerko. She watches Augie sleep and considers him an angel in her life. *gag*

The crew of La Bonita arrives at the church. Jero explains what happened to Carlos and Padre tells them that Doc is going to be as useful as a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. Regina jumps into action. Arely warmly greets Lazaro and lets Jero know that Nata is staying at Augie's.

Alfonsina is worried sick about Karina not having returned. Lazaro runs off faster than a speeding bullet to find Kari. I betcha if he rips off his shirt, he's got a suit with a big S on it underneath.

Matilde whispers to Carlos and begs him to wake up. Jero shakes Doc awake and swears that if a single person dies because Doc was too drunk to help, Jero will never let him forget it.

Superman and his sidekick Zeke find Karina still unconscious but alive. She wakes when Laz scoops her up into his arms and carries her out to safety.

Carlos stirs and is happy to find himself laying in Mati's lap. He's glad to be alive just to see her again. Mati asks Carlos to swear to stop loving her; it's too dangerous for him. Carlos will never promise such a thing. Mati is insistent.

Lazaro arrives with Kari and Zeke. Kari thanks Lazaro for saving her life. Laz humbly says that she would have done the same for him. Kari cries when she sees Doc in his drunken slumber. She admits that he won't ever change.

Poor Roberta is lying in bed, sweating and shaking. Fina shows the tiniest bit of concern after taking Berta's temperature. She stares at the phone and seems to debate with herself if it's worth calling for help.

Matias bemoans his situation before bed. FFWD.

Dawn arrives at the pueblo. Regina, Manuela, Alfonsina, and Arely hand out cups of coffee and words of comfort to the people taking refuge in the church. Padre leads the group in prayer. Everyone starts to clear out to survey the damage. Jero offers a place to stay at La Bonita to anyone who lost their homes to the flood. Regi agrees to help him and set up a clinic to aid the injured. Jero is going to call in his connections ASAP to have food, water, and medicine delivered to the area.

Doc awakes from his stupor and confusedly watches as everyone leaves the church. He asks Karina how she is. Thanks to Lazaro, she's still alive. Kari tells Doc he has failed her and the entire town. If he wants to ruin his life, he had better do it on his own time. She has finished with him for good.

Arely brings Lazaro a sandwich and some coffee. She asks him to call her by her name - they're amigos now! Laz is still uncomfortable with it since Arely is from a higher class. Arely doesn't care about that; she's seen what a wonderful person Laz is and she wants to be his friend. Arely gives him a peck on the cheek. Karina watches from afar with a heartbroken look on her face.

Gonzo sits down for breakfast and the maid tells him that Fina and Berta got up early to go shopping for the wedding. Gonzo tells Matias about his worries. They haven't heard anything from Nata since the storm struck. Matias thinks he could get Nata to stay home if he told her what he knows about Jero. Gonzo warns him not to start more trouble within the family.

A pretty lady doctor examines Roberta and is amazed that she waited this long to come to the hospital. Berta looks horrendously pale and her lips are blue. The doctor says that an infection is what has caused Berta's fever. Fina is worried since Berta's wedding is the following day.

The doctora says there's no way Berta can have a wedding in her condition. She might have already suffered grave consequences after waiting so long to come to the hospital - Roberta could be sterile for the rest of her life. Fina looks guilty for a fraction of a second. (!!!)

Jero helps Carlos take the bandage off his noggin. They chat about Matilde. Jero knows that Carlos and Matilde are crazy for each other. He tells Carlos to go for it.

Berta is crushed that she might be sterile. The doctora gives them a moment alone. Berta turns on Fina. "If I'm sterile, it is your fault! You refused to help me when I asked." Fina snaps that Berta is talking nonsense. "If I am sterile, I will never forgive you." Berta says evenly.

Augie has breakfast set out for Nata but she's too preoccupied to eat. She wants to be out there helping people. Augie is sure others have the situation under control. At any rate, Nata has to return to Mexico since the next day is Matias's wedding. Augie agrees to help her get there.

Adriana tells Matias that she hasn't talked to Nata since before the storm. She gets in a barb about his marrying Berta. He and Berta know nothing about each other - including that Mat and Adri were nearly a couple. Adri hints to Matias that she might know something about Berta that could free Matias from having to get hitched.

Avances: Jero tries to stop Nata leaving with Agustin.

La Pola - July 22, 2011 - Discussion Page

In bidding farewell to Pola and Alejo, Nariño asks Alejo to reconsider his decision. But, he tells Tonito, Alejo has been educated his entire life to think the way he does. Nariño also asks Pola to try to convince Alejo to change his mind.

Alejo’s relationship with Pola also reflects the political and social conflict he faces. He believes his wife should yield to his opinions and that she should not work if he is to be the breadwinner. If a man cannot support his family, he says, he is not much of a man.

On the contrary Pola is trying to reconcile her beliefs and upbringing with Alejo’s. She wants to work and be involved in the political process, and she doesn’t know if she can be married to a man who remains with arms crossed while other men fight for their country and land.

This land is not ours, says Alejo. It belongs to the king. You can say ugly things when you want, he tells her. He is still going to make the trip and convince his father to give them permission to marry. Pola gives in to him.

Alejo’s conflict with his father is even more paradoxical. Francisco is determined to marry him off to María Ignacia. Francisco, once amusing, is turning out to be the most venal, evil, unscrupulous and perhaps desperate character. He is the incarnation of the thorn that sticks in the side of the Americans. He will sell his own child, wife, or other person’s property for his personal satisfaction. He looks upon anyone not in his social rank with disdain. He is what this revolution is all about.

No conflict can shake the love between Nariño and Magda. She convinces the household to hide her illness. They forgive each other for all transgressions. She tries to persuade him to continue the fight. He wants to stay at her side and make up for all the lost years.

As Alejo prepares to make the trip to Popayan, he tells Pola he will only be gone a few days. He will leave early in the morning (la madrugada). She thinks he may be wasting his time. Do you have so little confidence in me, he asks.

Later, Francisco rides up to the posada and is greeted by Pola. He thinks he recognizes her and says, all mestizos, like negros, look alike. He tells her the room she shows him is a pigsty (remember the same words out of the mouth of the vireina).

Nariño pays the wannabe intellectuals without the creative capacity to envision a government beyond the tip of their noses, aka the junta, a visit. They are in a conundrum because they want a revolution without change.

Nariño wants his property back. Nariño is a painful reminder to them that things must change and that they will have to yield to the will of the people. They fear him.

By chance, Francisco and Alejo meet. Francisco is taken aback by Leandro’s denial of his own father, but he quickly recovers his superior attitude by announcing to Alejo that Gaspar has reconsidered and will now permit him to marry María Ignacia.

What makes you think I would do that, asks Alejo. I will not give my permission for you to marry the mestiza. I expected that, says Alejo. He then tells Francisco that he will denounce him for lying and not turning the dowry over to him. Gaspar will know he is a thief who has stolen from his own son.

This gets Francisco’s attention. He wants Alejo to bring Pola to him immediately. No, says Alejo, we will have a proper lunch. You will see what a wonderful person she is and that she will be the perfect wife for me. Pola is strong and loyal to her family and country.

Alejo is confident that once Francisco sees all of Pola’s virtues, he will give Alejo permission to marry her. Pola is not so sure, but she enlists the help of Cata and Gertrudis to prepare this defining meal that they are to have with Francisco.

La Pola - July 21, 2011 - Discussion Page

As Pola and Alejo walk through the market, Alejo notes that it appears that people do not like her. They’ll like me now that I have a señor, she says. But, she wishes it wasn’t that way. She tries to get Alejo to help her buy fruit. Me? Yes, when we marry you might have to do that.

Nariño and Tonito ride into town. The mayor feels it is his duty to tell these strangers to hit the road because he doesn’t want any trouble. Pola comes forward and tells him the man is Don Antonio Nariño, a hero. She finds them a place to stay at Domingo’s without charge.

Francisco and María Teresa go to Ignacía’s convent. He tells the nun that they are there to read her a letter. The nun reveals that María Ignacia’s stay has not yielded expected results. Anyway, after being reminded of Gaspar’s generosity, the nun allows them five minutes with María Ignacia.

When they arrive at her cell, Ignacia is hysterical and cries, “he is dead, he is dead.” Francisco reads the letter to her, but it only makes her want to leave immediately. Francisco can’t get her out without her father’s permission. She wants Alejo to get her out as her betrothed. Screaming and yelling from her does not stop Francisco and María Teresa from leaving her. María Teresa questions whether or not she would be a suitable wife for Alejo. Of corse, Francisco can see peso signs and is going to have this marriage happen come hell or high water.

Tonito tells Pola how hard it was to get his father out of jail. Pola asks about getting Carbonel’s help and finds out that he is in jail.

The marqués tells Jorge that he spoke to Magda. He doesn’t understand how Jorge could have taken advantage of a woman so desemparada. He calls him a coward. But, unfortunately, he cannot pull the trigger on his own brother. He tells Jorge that Nariño is returning and that he will have to watch the two of them and suffer for it. He also says that he will help Nariño if necessary.

At Domingo’s dinner table that night Nariño asks Pola if she helped Carbonel. Yes, as you ordered, she says. We got rid of the viceroys, chapetones and oidores who looked on the people as cockroaches. Among them was there a Sr. Juan Hernández de Alba? Yes. Good. He made my life miserable.

Alejo asks him to tell them about things that will happen now. What will happen or what ought to happen, asks Nariño. What ought to happen is that we have a united country with equal rights for all and that we own our own land. What will happen when the king returns, he is asked.

Pray that doesn’t happen. This annoys Alejo who asks do we have to be against the king? If the king returns to the throne, says Nariño, he will interpret what has happened as treason. He will send his army to fight us. The punishment for treason is death. We have two alternatives: unite and fight or die.

They put me in jail and took all my possessions for translating a book. What do you think they will do to people who removed their viceroys and officials? They will come after us for blood. We have to prepare to fight.

After Francisco and María Teresa return to Popayan, Francisco prepares for his trip. She notices that he is bringing some of Gaspar’s finery. Acacia comes forward with a question. He points to her and tells her she is going, too. You can’t do that, say María Teresa, she is Ignacia’s favorite slave. You are going to sell her! Francisco tells her that Acacia is the only one who can tell Gaspar and Eusebia what really happened to their possessions. Tell them it was a robbery he says to María Teresa, make something up.

Domingo is delighted with Cata. She has given him a reason to get up every day. Gertrudis told the secret. She also told Cata that she is grateful to San Andrés. What saint is that, asks Cata. (Yes, since when is the mayor a saint?)

Alejo later tells Pola that Nariño is an enemy of the king. This man is very important to you. No, she says. Our marriage is most important to me. If you prefer Nariño, you should wait to marry me. They will have to make mutual sacrifices as they realize the quandary they are in. They embrace.

` Nariño tells Tonito that he cannot deny that it would please him to be part of this government, but, his place now is at his mother’s side. He feels guilty. The guilty party, says Tonito, is Spain. She has suffered through such terrible things for me.

Meanwhile the little group of revolutionaries discuss how they will deal with Nariño. They have to try to get him on their side. They will let Carbonel out of jail.

Torres himself goes to the jail to let Carbonel out and tells him he has suffered an injustice.

Tonito tells Alejo that he is very lucky to have Pola because she is so intelligent. She will be useful in Santa Fé. Alejo tells him they are going to Honda. He also tells Nariño that he is wrong and that he is on the side of the king. Nariño wishes him well in his marriage to Pola.

Carbonel’s friends greet him and tell him Nariño is on his way home.

Pola asks Nariño if he will take his rightful place. It is at home, he says. The best homage to my father is to fight. The people need you. People come up to him and offer him food. Pola has told them that he is the man who will set them free. So, she says, will you fight or not?

Teresa Wed 7/20/11 #101 Johnny's Ham & Cheese Surprise; Our Shark Get's Bitten!

REPRISE
In last night’s reprisal, we begin at the Hospital with Mariano venting to Aurora. He can’t believe that every time he thinks he is free of Teresa, she reappears in his life. Aurora says she can’t believe Mariano is worrying about Teresa. Mariano says it was good that he was face to face with Teresa and didn’t feel anything for her. Aurora asks if he is happy with Aida, and he responds that they are still together, she is very pretty and he’s in it to win it. Aurora responds with a sad expression.

The reprisal continues with the scene at Fernando’s bachelor pad, where Fernando is lamenting to Luisa about his mother’s controlling ways. Luisa drops the bomb that she doesn’t want to get married after all and takes Oriana’s ring off her finger and puts it on the table. Fernando is shocked to say the least.

BARRERA ESTATE
The first new scene of episode 101 begins at the Barrera estate. Arturo and Teresa are just arriving home from Fernando’s apartment and Arturo says he is upset about Oriana’s behavior, but did not want to have a direct confrontation with her in front of everyone, however in the future, he is not going to hesitate confronting her. Teresa pretends to take the high road and says that she will endure Oriana’s harassment for Arturo’s and Luisa’s sake, and that time will prove her right, then silently says to herself, “...or time will give me the chance to get even with that bitchy (unhappy) woman”. Both Arturo and Teresa are concerned about the way Oriana put pressure on Fernando to ask Luisa to marry him, and Arturo says he wants to have a private talk with Fernando about it.

FERNANDO'S APARTMENT
Fernando, still in shock, asks “Are you sure you no longer want to get married, Luisa?” Luisa says that of course she loves him and wants to marry him, but not because he was pressured into it by his horrifying, psycho-chick mom.

Fernando gets serious, looks into Luisa’s eyes, gently caresses her face and says that he didn’t like the way she did things tonight, but he says, “I love you and only needed a nudge to decide that I really want to marry you.” Luisa is touched by this and asks “Are you serious? ...For me marriage is for life, and I want you to think hard before giving me a ring.”

Fernando is face to face with her, and with sincerity that only a man in love can muster, he says his past attitudes about marriage have changed; the desire for eternal bachelorhood has faded. Living with her has erased all doubts. The player has stopped playing. This is a man loving his woman, as he says, “I have nothing more to think about, my love, I love you and want to marry you. Will you accept?” Without hesitation Luisa says, “If you really have no doubts, then of course I accept.” Fernando places the ring back on her finger and kisses his future wife.

BARRERA ESTATE
Teresa says to Art that she wants to visit Esperanza. Arturo cannot go because he has to work on the Saenz case. Juana is there and will accompany Teresa to see Esperanza. Teresa runs off to go get the gifts that she bought while in Europe. While Arturo is talking with Juana, she mentions to him that Mariano doesn’t live in the Vecindad so he doesn’t have to worry any more about Teresa running into him. Arturo is pleased and says that maybe now the ghosts of Paloma and Mariano can finally be put out of their lives.

GRAMPS’ NEIGHBORHOOD
Patty is out for a stroll, sees her Grumpy Gramps and greets him in her usual cheerful way. She says she was just coming over to check on him. He scowls and says if she really cared for him, she wouldn’t have run away. She says that Johnny is now her husband and she is his wife. Gramps rudely tells her to SHUT UP! And that the whole affair with her leaving has made him sick! Patty, taking this literally, offers to take him to the doctor. Gramps harshly says that Johnny is no good for her. Patty invites him over for dinner some night. Gramps rudely growls, “In that hovel where you live? Forget it! I’m not going to set foot in that neighborhood!” Patty is hurt and her expression reveals that she may now be realizing Gramps is nothing more than an old condescending curmudgeon. His bitterness is blinding him from seeing that the one person, who truly cares for him, is slipping away.

ESPERANZA’S APARTMENT
Teresa and Juana are at Esperanza’s place, and the conversation turns to important chick matters like clothes and men. Luckily I pressed the FF>> button before I puked. Later, Teresa started yapping about who is going to be the “sponsor” of Esperanza’s baby, and the subject of Crapberto came up. Juana mentions that she is no longer seeing Crapberto because she decided to boink Hector instead. Teresa jumped up and said that she too thinks it is best for Juana to boink Hector. Esperanza thinks that Teresa is completely ridiculous (as do I), as she shakes her head as if to say, “chicks are so figgin’ weird.” I couldn’t agree more, Esperanza, I couldn’t agree more.

HOSPITAL OFFICE
Aida barges into the conference room where Mariano is working. She has some tickets for a concert and wants to celebrate because of the realization that Mariano really loves her and cares about her. She jumped to this conclusion because Mariano had spoken to Mayra about keeping Aida out of the criminal case against Ruben. They start with some kissy-kissy action and then Aurora walks in, so they stop and Mariano leaves.

Aida confides in Aurora and that she is having fun with Mariano, but is bummed out that he has not even come close to mentioning anything about getting married to her. (At this point I’m yelling at the TV screen “Yeah right, Aida, why don’t you hold your breath and wait for that, you crazy gata; sometimes men just like to have sex Aida, sometimes they just want to have SEX. Get over yourself. Crazy gata.) Anyway, she apparently didn’t hear me because she then says that she wishes Mariano would take their relationship to the next level and formalize it. Chicks...

JOHNNY'S TAXI
Our dear friend Johnny is sitting in his parked taxi on the side of the street taking a lunch break. He’s about to enjoy one those sandwiches he’s been delivering. You’ll notice he didn’t buy anything for us. Chomp. “Hey wait a minute,” Johnny “thinks” to himself (and I use the term loosely) “what did I just bite into?” He opens his sandwich, and finds something magically delicious inside. Drugs!! Drugs in pill form, hidden in his sandwich. Johnny wonders, “Did I order this? I don’t remember ordering that. Hope I wasn’t charged for it, where’s that receipt?”

MARIANO'S DELUXE APARTMENT
Ah, its night time, when the cats come out to play. Here comes one now. It’s Teresa, and she’s catting around Mariano’s new apartment building. As she wanders the hallway, she stops a cute girl walking by and asks the girl for help finding Mariano’s apartment. She directs Teresa to apartment 209.

Teresa rings the doorbell.
Mariano: “Who is it?”
Teresa: “Land Shark”
Or she might have said “Good evening Mariano, can we talk?” I get confused.

Teresa sarcastically asks him why he never invited her over to see his new place. Teresa asks about his dad, and Mariano says he preferred to stay in the old neighborhood. Mariano says he has nothing more to say to her, Aida would not want her there, so he asks her to leave and he doesn’t want to hear any more of her lies.

Teresa says, she came to say that she reconciled with Arturo in Europe and is going ahead with her marriage. Mariano says he doesn’t know why she’s bothering to tell him that. Teresa says it is because she once told Mariano she would divorce Arturo and return to him, but Mariano failed to seize the opportunity, and now it’s gone.

In a spontaneous moment of passion, Mariano suddenly and aggressively grabs Teresa in an “I want you now” gesture. He holds her so tight, and is so dangerously close to kissing this beautiful, but married woman, who was once his whole world.

With their lips almost touching, Mariano says Teresa would have probably just betrayed him later and got back with Arturo just to see Europe. Teresa says that they will never know how things would have turned out, because they failed to take the opportunity to be happy together.

Mariano releases her and says they have nothing more to talk about. Teresa begs to differ and says that they do indeed have more to discuss. She starts to tell him that they have known each other since they were children and have been through a lot together. She is interrupted by his ringing cell phone.

When Mariano answers, he affectionately calls Aida “my love”, in subtle defiance of Teresa; almost to say “see, I’ve moved on, I’m over you”.

Teresa says, “So you’re still not living with her.” Mariano smirks and says, “Well now that you mention it, that’s not a bad idea.”

They both agree that they each are moving on with their lives and that it’s not good to keep a grudge. Teresa says she doesn’t like Mariano’s attitude, that it is clear he still has some anger, as tears build up in her eyes.

Then Mariano coldly says, “Well then let’s agree to say goodbye with a smile.”

Teresa moves to hug him, but Mariano barely reciprocates the hug as his arms fall to his side and tears build in his eyes as well. Teresa softly says, “Truly, I wish you well”.

Teresa slowly walks out, and as he closes the door behind her, Mariano turns and says under his breath “Why does it have to end every time? Why?” On the other side of the door, Teresa has stopped in her tracks. She leans against the wall sobbing, “He’s not living with Aida. He loves me, he still loves me; I felt it. I still love Mariano.“

Inside, Mariano stands alone fighting tears, contemplating the love he once had, that now is gone.

VEDINDAD
Johnny is frantically chasing down Gema. He tells her he has discovered the sandwiches he has been delivering are all loaded with drugs. Gema said the drugs are from Fito and that she thought Johnny knew about it. Johnny is flabbergasted and can’t believe that all this time he’s been delivering drugs. Gema says, “That’s right Johnny, you’re as involved with this as Fito and me” but that after all, Johnny needed money for a refrigerator and to help Esperanza.

Johnny insists that Gema deceived him and that he doesn’t want to earn money this way. Gema replies, “Oh please Johnny, don’t be so naïve. What are you going to do, go to the police? You’re as guilty as us; see ya.” (I say Johnny ought to relax and just think of it like it’s the prize in a Cracker Jack box.)

AUORORA'S HOUSE
The gorgeous Aurora is sitting on the couch with Hector and she asks, “Daddy, was I liked (or wanted) when I was born?” (Wow that line really ruined the moment for me. I was just starting to get into looking at AnaBrenda and imagining her in lingerie, then BOOM, she starts talking like a KID. I think Aurora is regressing; it’s very un-sexy.) Hector assures her that she was a much-wanted daughter, because he was dying to be a father.

**At this point, my Comcast cable service went out for a few seconds so I missed a little of this**

When my cable service returned, Vanessa and Hector are arguing. Vanessa says she was very young at the time, but things are different now and she really loves her “real daughter.” She asks Hector, “What do I have to do to for you to forgive me? Please, tell me, I'm willing to do anything.” Hector turns around and walks out.

VECINDAD
Johnny and Patty are walking down the street. Johnny seems uncomfortable and eventually tells Patty that he loves her and would never do anything wrong on purpose. He loses his nerve and can’t tell Patty what’s really going on so he makes up a story that he’s scared because he almost ran over somebody. Patty comforts him. I’ve decided Gloria Aura is too hot for Johnny.

AURORA’S HOUSE
A-HHHAAA!! I knew it!! Vanessa is having a sneaky-snake conversation with someone on the phone. We catch her saying, “Yes, my love. Of course, not far away...the Framework is... Aurora’s coming...” and she hastily hangs up. What a sleaze.

Vanesssssa tells Aurora some line about relations improving with Hector. Aurora tells her to forget about Hector, because he is happy with Juana. Vanessssa then gossips with Aurora about Mariano and Aida, and Vanessa says that it doesn’t sound to her like Mariano is truly in love with Aida and that Aurora still has a shot and should go for Mariano. Aurora predictably says that she can’t do that to Aida. Vanessssa tells her that if the time comes, she’s going to have to decide – and it sounds like she was telling Aurora she should go for it.

VECINDAD
It is still night time, and Fito is walking down a sidewalk. Johnny’s taxi speeds in and screeches to a halt next to Fito. Johnny quickly gets out and marches toward Fito. With a head full of steam he takes an aggressive swing at Fito. Fito, wants to know what the heck is wrong with Johnny.

Johnny tells Fito he is a bastard and that he knows now that Fito has been using him to distribute his drug crap. Fito of course acts like it’s no big deal and that Johnny shouldn’t worry about it, because after all, he is earning money. Johnny continues to give Fito a piece of his mind. At this point, Fito has had enough and pins Johnny against the wall with his arm, then pins the barrel of his semi-automatic pistol against Johnny’s face.

Johnny says that this whole scheme is Fito’s and Gema’s doing, and that he wants no part of it. Fito tells Johnny that leaving the [drug] business is not so easy; usually the way to leave is to DIE. Fito says he will offer Johnny the opportunity to work for him full time to earn more money not just to pay him back, but so that he can treat his wife Patty like a queen and give her all the things to which she is accustomed.

Fito then gives Johnny the ol’ Nutcracker move (knee to the groin) and reminds Johnny that HE is calling the shots, and if he doesn’t want to die, he will cooperate, and earn money in the drug business.

AURORA'S HOUSE
Teresa shows up and tells Aurora that she remembered her in Paris. Teresa says she didn’t like how things were with Aurora before she left for Europe. Aurora says that she has seen time and time again that Teresa was not honest with her. They banter back and forth and then Vanessssa shows up. They have some uncomfortable snarky discussion about Vanessa’s abandonment of Aurora, and in turn, Vanessssa snarkely reminds Teresa that she’s the girl that was poor and pretended to be rich when she was in school. Good times.

Teresa then breaks out the presents she bought with Arturo’s money. Vanesssa says that Aurora doesn’t need anyone giving her stuff. Vanesssa tells Aurora that she doesn’t yet really know just how beautiful she is inside and out. (I’ll vouch for the outside part.)

Eventually Teresa leaves and afterward Aurora asks her mom what her impression is of Teresa. Vanessa says that Teresa seems like the kind of person who will fight for the man she loves. But she’s married and it is clear Mariano doesn’t sufficiently love Aida, so Aurora is the one with the most possibility of snagging Mariano. Hmmm, Mariano has Teresa, Aida, and Aurora trying to snag him... Nice problem to have!

VECINDAD
The next morning, Patty is on the sidewalk sweeping and someone walks buy and carelessly dumps two bags of garbage practically on Patty with the attitude of, well I’m in a hurry and you’ll clean it up. Johnny is in an alley and sees this. He flashes back to words Fito said last night, “...with what you earn you can provide for your wife like a queen, give her everything she is used to having...“

NEXT MORNING AT AURORA'S HOUSE
Hector is having breakfast in his yard and Vanessa slithers up behind him. She flirts with him a little and tries to get him to think about their first kiss, and then she grabs hector by the face and plants a kiss on his mouth.

Of course, Juana is walking up just as Vanesssssa is doing the deed. Hector angrily pushes Vanesssa away and tells her, “Have you not understood that I love Juana?” and tells her it is time for her go leave the house. Juana walks up next to Hector and says, “you heard what he said, scram you pole-dancing gata.” (I may have slightly mis-translated that.)

Vanesssa can’t believe what she’s hearing. She says, “Are you running me out of this house because of that woman? And I don’t pole-dance anymore... well maybe occasionally on weekends. OMG, I have a dominatrix costume I’ll show you later that’s absolutely fabulous!” :^)

Aurora is freaking out and whining about Hector kicking Vanessssa out of the house. Hector tries to explain that he understands that she wants to be around her mother but she can no longer be in the house. Daddy’s Little Girl reminds Hector that they had a deal – Vanesssa gets to stay in the house. Hector reminds Aurora that Vanessssa was only going to stay a few days and it has been much longer than that. He suggests that Aurora and Vanessa can rent a place and see each other all they want but she is not staying at his house anymore. Hector also tells her why he is so mad; that Vanesssa kissed Hector when Juana was approaching.

Aurora tries to chase down Vanesssa and convince her to stay. Vannesssa admits to kissing Hector, but lies and says it was only a minor kiss on the cheek. Aurora is upset and can’t believe Hector is kicking Vanessa out over a simple misunderstanding.

Juana then asks for some alone time with Aurora to try to hash things out. Juana is sorry for the problems that are going on, and feels partly responsible. Aurora starts venting and whines that her dad was single for 20 years, her mom comes back, and bamm – there’s Juana in the way. Juana is taken back and Aurora apologizes. Aurora then says that Juana walked up and saw a kiss on the cheek – why is that a big deal; and Juana (knowing it was definitely more than that) can’t believe what she just heard. They each whine about this a little more and Aurora finally says that she’s sorry, but she wants and needs to be with her mom now. YAWWWN. YAAWWWN. That was a double-yawn scene.

MARIANO’S APARTMENT
Mariano’s doorbell rings and it is one of the girls that lives in the building and she is selling cookbooks as a school fundraiser. This is the same girl that earlier had helped Teresa find Mariano’s apartment. Her name is Sofia. Mariano buys a book.

FERNANDO'S APARTMENT
Teresa and Luisa are chatting at Fernando’s apartment about the evil Oriana and how she forced the engagement to happen, and how she will very likely take over organizing the wedding. Luisa says she got everything worked out with Fernando and that he assured her that he really wants to marry Luisa.

The doorbell rings.

Luisa goes to answer the door. Teresa follows her as they continue their conversation. Luisa opens the door and... It’s Sofia, the cute girl who helped Teresa find Mariano’s apartment the other day and the same one selling books! She starts giving Luisa her sales pitch.

Then Sofia spots Teresa and says, “Ahh, Hello Miss Gata! Were you able to find the apartment of Mariano Sanchez?” Ohhhhhhhhhh, BUSTED!!! Tiburoncita is MORTIFIED!! She’s shaking her head and silently gesturing to Sofia like No-No-No, don’t say anything SHUTUP-SHUTUP-SHUTUP!!!

But it is too late for our Tiburoncita. The gata is out of the bag! Luisa has a “what-the-heck” look on her face and turns to Teresa like she’s got some explaining to do... It is going to take some very creative lying for our Tiburoncita to get out of this one!

...and now you know what happened in Episode 101.

Don't take advantage of Coni's weak/vulnerable moment. IF there is a chance for the two of you, time will tell.. Chema asks if she thinks so... she responds 'cuando te toca, aunque te quites, y cuando no te toca, aunque te pongas.' (if it is for you, even if you try to get out of the way, if it is not, even if you jump in the way)

Regina arrives at Ensenada... Carlos comes to pick her up. Gina immediately asks about Jero and Renata, Carlos say better go to hacienda and let Jero explain to you. She is worried already.

We should be able to leave today. She is surprised he said 'we will leave'... she say she can go alone, he says no you can't. not in that state..

Jero drinking. remembers Nata shouting to him that the one wrong is him. Then remembers the proposal and giving her the ring, their weding night, the good times in the hacienda.. the wedding... all the happy moments and intimate moments together...

Mati and madrina keep arguing, Manuela says they love each other, Mati says it shows they DON'T, since they are not together.

Doctor checks out Roberta... says with her pregnancy the heart is very stressed... he injected a tranquilizer that will let her rest. Will expect her in his office tomorrow for more tests... Gonzo says lets let Roberta rest. She says don't worry about me. Gonzo and Mata decide to stay home from work today.

Augie comes to Nata says he could not get the plane... Nata is very anxious to get to MC. Have to unmask Berta. Can't let her keep lying to everyone and won't let her marry Matias even if she is pregnant with his baby. Augie says she wants to stop the wedding because she is interested in Matt. she says she does not want to let Berta marry Matt because she would be doing it under a lie... Augie changes strategy and now supports Nata to get to MC asap. She gets on a laptop and shows Augie a picture of Roberta. Augie remembers running into Roberta in MC at a hotel when she was asking him for Jero. He recalls Jero and Rob ate together at a restaurant where he and Nata were. Nata impactada.

She smartly concludes that Rob wanted Jero but Matias returned to MC and then Rob turned to Matias to try to marry him and get the MR fortune. Things will be very different (from what Rob plans) if she can help it.

Gina arrives at La Bonita and is trying to get Jero to open the door to his studio for her. Gina says you had told me you had forgot the vengeance, that you married Nata for love, and it turns out that is not true. What made you change your mind?

Matt is watching the weather and hears that the storm is right over Ensenada right now... and will move on north. Gonzo comes out from checking Rob... Matt tells him noone will answer phone at Ensenada or Gina... Gonzo says all they can do is pray that Gina and Nata are together and well.

Augie and Nata are more calm talking about the love of family, parents and siblings...Nata tells him Rob began hating her after they grew up. She would have loved to have a mother that loved her, like Adriana. Like Gina. Gina has never stopped looking for her daughter after she was stolen from her. She admires that unconditional unending love.

Gina asks Jero how much he knows Fina... She does not know her and does not have very good references of Fina. Nata's mom does not get along with any of the MRs. He is giving too much credit to her words... Jero says she is HER MOTHER and would never speak ill of her own daughter... Gina says mothers can make the wrong conclusions or get confused with the facts... Gina believes in the arguments of Nata... They are the arguments of a good woman, a woman in love. Not all evidences are good or accurate. In her opinion, it was Nata's mom who spoiled his soul... (YOU TELL HIM GINA!!!)

At Alfonsina's Kari arrives. The storm is right over tem... Kari brings her something she had ordered. Kari asks Alfo what Lazaro was doing with Augie's girlfriend at church. Alfo does not know. Kari admits she felt jealous... ALfo says if the jealousy is for her, forget it. Areli would never notice Lazaro. Kari says she did see something in her eyes. Alfo asks her why she married ALvaro... She would have been so much happier with Lazaro. She insists so Kari tells her she married Lazaro for a promise she made to her father (FINALLY she told someone). She promised her dad that if he survived it was because of Alvaro's care, so she married him. Affo asks 'and Lazaro accepted it?' Kari says he did because he loved me... Alfo asks Kari and what does she feel? Kari admits she has only felt real love for Lazaro. (aawwwwww...)

Alvaro and Ezeq are at his office, Alvaro asks him about Alfo and the boy... Ezeq gives him the good news about Alfo... doctor asks him to send Alfo over so he can confirm it and congratulate them... WHen Ezeq leaves, Alvaro sits at his desk and gets really stressed... remembers another doctor telling Alvaro that he can' have any children (he is sterile... this is exactly like in La Mentira 98). Alvaro says the child of Alfo's will have to be known around as mine. Want Kari to feel guilty all her life for not having been able to give me a child.

Adri thanks Conni for letting her stay. They are getting along very well, even though Connie is so sad... Adri offers her help and anything she can do for her. She is a woman and can understand what Connie is going through.

Once Adri leaves, the bell rings again. She opens the door but there is no one there. An envelope is left under the door... it was Blanca and the envelope seems to have the pictures of the hotel prank...

Meanwhile Hono and Gonzo ... Gonzo tells Hono that Connie saw him kissing Blanca at a cafeteria. Hono confesses to Gonzo that he is terrified that he is losing her. Gonzo gets irritated at him because he is really losing her and it is because he is dumb for not really knowing the woman he married (not trusting Connie)

In her bedroom Connie looks at the pictures... blanca wrote a note 'maybe he betrayed you because you could never give him a child, but I can and that is why we will raise it together'... there is a DVD of the pictures of Blanca and Hono at the hotel. (so we are catching up with technology, not paper pictures but a DVD ... and of course the texting over cell phones constantly). Connie gets really upset.

Manuela and Lazaro, she says he did well to take Areli to the Padre. Lazaro says she was completely set on jumping in. Manuela says God put you in her way. Did you decide on the 'patron''s proposal of paying for his career? No... Not all bosses would pay for your career without asking for anything in exchange... HE says he knows that but it is difficult to make a decision (seems he does not want to leave La Bonita or leave Karina unprotected)... Manuela says if you don't you will regret it. Lazaro looks out the window and says this coming storm will be very strong.

At Cruz de amor, Augie and Nata seem to be having a better time now.. he brought cold cuts (meat cutlets?), grapes, cheese and wine... She thanks him... he says its a pleasure to care for you... We will enjoy tonight... want a drink?... She says i remember last time i got drunk and it was not good... (Good for you Renata, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me) he says dont want you to get drunk... but a glass of wine wakes up the senses... toast with me. She remembers the wine harvest party with her and Jero dancing together on top of the grapes... she gets really sad...

At La Bonita, Jero is remembering that same day, but later in their bedroom and shower (more steamy stuff)...

At La Bonita they hear the church bells, Lazaro says that is the signal from town that they need anyone that can come over to help... They ask if they should tell Jero but Carlos shouts that Jero is in no condition to help anyone.. so we will leave without him. They all run out. Mati is not happy they are leaving Jero behind.
In the town church, it seems everyone from town are coming in worried and the priest is taking refugees in... Some other farm guy comes wounded that he cut his leg when trying to get out. Priest worries... Areli volunteers to help out... it is a tragedy and want to help... Priest sends her to get Dr Alvaro... this is getting out of control. He prays for God's help.

Alfo, Kari and Ezeq arrive to help out... Padre sends Ezeq to move the benches to make space..

At MR manor, Berta says feel really bad, not faking it this time. Rob seems to have abortion pains... (folds over in pain exactly as Aimee did in CS) Cries.

Coni in her bedroom caresses the pillows on the bed... the phone rings... it is Honorio but she won't answer. She cries on the pillow... At Adri's Honorio is concerned.. Adri brings him coffee... He will stay with Adri. Connie always cared for his clothes... he comments that it is incredible how life can change for you at a moment's notice... Adri says mom used to say that everything we do in live has consequences... Adri says Blanca told me that... Hono gets startled... Gets mad when he finds out Blanca told Adri that he always leaves his women and does not make long term commitments, like with her mom and Coni. Angry Hono shouts that Blanca only wants him to lose everyone that he loves...

At Rob's room she walks out of the bathroom and dumps a puddle of blood under her... Fina comes in... Rob is very freaked out and in major pain. Fina insists she has not lost her baby... CAN"T lose your baby, and least of all right now!! Rob begs her to call a doctor, she already lost the baby.. Take me to a hospital... Fina says no way, Matias and your dad will find everything out... All our plans will come crumbling down... Rob begs her to take her to a hospital... Fina keeps caressing her and insisting that if she rests the bleeding will stop... Fina says we will do what I say and noone will find out..

Gonzo outside the door asks Rob how she is doing... Fina says shut up... Fina comes out and tells him that Rob is better (LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!!)... She is just a bit stressed and her heart is weak... but with some rest she will be perfect... Gonzo says hope so... Fina says one of the things that made her fall for him was the love he feels for her daughters... she will thank him forever... well, for whatever she has left to live... Gonzo is sort of indifferent to her... once he leaves she puts a doggie face... then runs back in and yells at Rob to take a shower... Rob keeps crying begging her mom to take her to a doctor... Fina yells we have to fix the problem between the two of us... IS THAT CLEAR??? (OMG!!! who could pack Fina on a plane or canoe and dump her right into that tribe of cannibals that we saw in (Zorro la espada y la rosa) so they can skin this woman inch by inch... that is the LEAST she deserves...)

previews:
time will play a key role... against wind and storm, Nata heads to confront Berta... we see Jero go after Nata on a jeep with Mati right under the storm... but because o the storm a tree falls on their jeep...

Dicho of the Day:
Cuando te toca, aunque te quites, y cuando no te toca, aunque te pongas = if it is for you, even if you try to get out of the way; if it is not, even if you jump in the way

Cuando Me Enamoro #66 Tuesday 7/19/11 Mi Culpa, Mi Culpa

As you may have all deduced, I did not post a re-cap for today!! I could give you all some great story about being attack by a bear or something, but the plain truth is I completely forgot. I am training for a 10K on Sunday and got up bright and early for a 5 mile walk and then went to lunch!! I am soooooooo sorry ladies and gents. Please feel free to discuss and if anyone would like to throw something up I'm sure everyone would appreciate it! Again I am sorry It shouldn't happen again.

Recaplet from commenter Julia:

Renata made Jero get out the letter and told him that is not her handwriting, she found the picture and forcefully mentioned that it is Roberta who is prominently featured, he got out the lost R necklace and she showed him that she still has hers, and she showed him the carving on the tree. Jero was conflicted but kept thinking back to when Fina told him Renata is a lying liar who lies and was totally having an affair with Rafael. Jero cannot compute that a mother could scheme against her daughter, so he's still stuck in his same irrational rut.

So Renata packs her bags and has Augustin come pick her up. Jero belatedly and halfheartedly sort of tries to chase after her. Then he apparently locks himself in his office and smashes stuff.

Spare Girl Arely stands on a picturesque cliff above the water, hair swooshing in the breeze, looking like a perfume advert. She's thinking of taking a death dive but Lazaro sees her and talks her out of it. He takes her to the church to stay there and rethink her life, and Karina sees her hug him and kiss him on the cheek and of course gets the wrong idea.

Regina is on her way to the hacienda. Carlos heads out to pick her up since Jero is in a mood.

For some reason Blahnca is still allowed to roam free in the office, so as to leave a wider trail of destruction. She's trying to get Daniel in on her scheme but he has to think about it.

Fina and Renata are awful. Gonzo tells Fina that Honorio and Constanza are splitsies.

Some scenes with Conehead but I FF>>d those.

Matias showed up to comfort Constanza. She asked about the wedding in two days; is he sure he wants to go through with it since he knows he's not the father? He says he was sure because he wanted to save Renata from knowing it was Jero, but now he's not so sure... Coni asks why but of course he changes the subject.

La Pola - July 20, 2011 - Discussion Page Summary

TUESDAY

Vicentino: Antonio Nariños younger son who is planning to marry
Isabel: The youngest daughter of Antonio Nariño

` At last, Alejo and Pola can’t get enough of each other – and, neither can I. Alejo is going to Honda to find them a place to live in. Pola really wants to live in Santa Fé. She wanted to go with Alejo, but he said it would not help her reputation (just restored) to do that.

Magda finally finds someone with enough courage to lend her money to get Antonio home.

Mayor Andrés thinks he has close call with Domingo over the Cata incident, but, it turns out he will not have to use his pistol. Domingo is reporting that he has lost three slaves in one day and needs help finding Juliano. The mayor will add his name to book of fugitive slaves. What’s his name? Juliano. Juliano what? I don’t know, says Domingo. OK, Juliano García says the mayor.

Pola continually worries about what will happen if Alejo doesn’t come back. He swears he will follow her to the ends of the earth.

There is a hilarious scene with Governor Tacón, Francisco and a few others to the tune of violin music. At least they thought it was funny. They think they have the junta convinced that they have a done deal. Hah, hah.

The marques (Jorge Tadeo’s brother) finds him dreaming. Jorge is working on the constitution. My, what a brilliant man you are – a botanist and now writing the constitution. But, the shadow of adultery still hangs over his head, says the marques.

When Alejo returns from Honda he tells Pola that he has found a house and work to do and people who will help him establish a business. His father still has not given them permission to marry. Pola showers him with attention. He remarks that the food she has made for him is better. She tells him that Delgado went through Guaduas five days ago and that Sámano was put on a ship to Spain. Alejo plans to go to Santa Fé to retire from the military.

Alejo and Pola have the feeling they are being watched, so they conspire to find a private place.

Baraya apologizes to Magda for not being able to contribute to the fund for Antonio’s return. Anyway, he tells her he is going south to Santa Marta and Popayan. He also tells her that there is a difference in thinking between Antonio and the juntas. She remarks that they are doing what he has preached, but he gets accused of treason. Baraya tells her they need Antonio to lead the country.

María Teresa comes upon Francisco reading mail – she thinks it is hers. No, he says, it is for María Ignacia. Her parents now think that the punishment was too harsh and that Alejo really is a good person and if he is still inclined, they will let her marry him. Gaspar and Eusebia will return soon. Francisco is not the least bit worried about what they will find in the manse. They both agree that Ignacia must not find out that Alejo has been with the mestiza.

Meanwhile Alejo writes a letter. Gertrudis brings him something to drink and begins to tell him this fairy tale about how great a godmother she has been to Cata and Pola. But, he remembers Pola’s description of her and returns to real life. Finally, he tells her that he has very little to offer Pola and that they will have a modest wedding and live a modest life.

Don Jorge and wife run into Baraya whom he chides for not attending a meeting of the junta. Jorge’s wife goes shopping, and he goes to see Magdalena, much to the chagrin of his wife who figures out where he has been.

At this time, Alejo catches up with Pola. He tells her he wrote a letter to his mother to announce a visit. He and Pola want to finalize their engagement.

Gertrudis figures out that Cata is pregnant and wants to tell Domingo right away. No, says Cata, later.

When María Tadeo returns home, her father finds her crying. She blurts out that Jorge went to see Magda again.

On the road home, Nariño and his son, Tonito, have some serious conversations. Tonito asks him if the rumors of his mother’s infidelity are true. Nariño’s answer is something like, how dare you. Mercedes and Isabel are my children.

Jorge is so concerned about Magda that he wants to have his family doctor come see her. She won’t have it. Magda tells him to hit the road. Her husband is coming home. If we do what he wants – get in a war with Spain, we could lose everything. We have already lost everything she says.

In one of the most beautiful scenes so far, Alejo and Pola are out in the countryside, and he reads Sonnet 96 by Lope de Vega to her. I don’t understand it, but it is beautiful. My life is like sonnet 96. She thinks of Alejo every waking moment, with every breath she takes and with every beat of her heart – or something like that. It’s an we almost went all the way scene, but, Alejo tells her they can wait a little longer. Let this moment arrive soon, says Pola.

What happens tomorrow, says Pola, is in God’s hands. He says: you are the only woman for me. She says: you are the only man for me. Pola gets a large pin and sticks it in her finger and then in Alejo’s. They now have a blood pact.

When Jorge Tadeo leaves Magda’s, his brother the marqués watches him.
