Heridas - Monday July 24

We start with Julio trying to convice Miranda that other men will make her happy. He talks of his long lasting love with Rebeca. He is sweet to her but as she leaves he thinks about what a bad guy Gonzalo is. Julio thinks Miranda does not deserve her bad father. Poor little Miranda.

Miranda goes to chat with her father. He wants to know how Pamela is and offers to help her out without her knowing. He says she is like another daughter for him. Miranda tells him that he is the best father in the world. Gonzalo advises Miranda to be strong tonight for the engagement of Fabricio and Florencia. He says he will be at her side sharing her suffering.

Miranda tells Tomasa that when Fabricio put the engagement ring on Florencia, she Miranda, will stop being a woman and will turn into a ghost. She would like to be like her mother and take off with the man she loves and disappear. Tomasa tells her not to say that. Her mother was a victim of Bertha just like Miranda has been.

Cesar is angry that Rebeca is going to give her wedding ring to Fabricio for his engagement to Florencia. Cesar is older and thinks it's his right to have. Ma you give everything to him! Wha! Rebeca argues that she will give Cesar an equal ring for his wife but Cesar is not having any of it. Cesar blames how Gonzalo treats him and all his problems on Faby. Faby consoles his mother while Cesar gives them both the look of death.

Miranda asks Tomasa about Bertha and her mother. Tomasa says that Bertha found out that Fernanda was in love with a man long before Fernanda knew Gonzalo. Bertha told their grandfather that Fernanda was running around with an older man who had a child. Their grandfather then made Fernanda marry the older man but not the one she loved but the one Bertha said she was seeing (Gonzalo). Gonzalo always loved Fernanda and Fernanda never mentioned the other man again. Miranda upon hearning this sad story concludes that Fernanda kept loving the first man and that is why Fernanda abandoned the girls and Gonzalo. How Miranda would like to do that with Fabricio she moans.

Gonzalo calls a conference with all his daughters and Tomasa. He says gracias a Tomasa for taking care of his girls, and loving them as if they were hers. Tomasa says she will always be here as long as they need her. Gonzalo says this might be the last time they are together alone. He probably hasn't been the father they needed but he was the father that he could be. He would give his life for each of the girls. Forgive me if I haven't always given you the attention that you deserved. It happens. But I will always be with you. I only ask that we stay united and that we try to be happy. Renata asks why are you telling us this? Gonzalo answers that I need to confess that your mother didn't disappear like you think. The girls speak up saying that Bertha told us that she left us for another man. Gonzalo gets mad that Bertha told them that then says that's it if that's what she told you. Florencia says that for years they have all suffered their fathers being betrayed. Florencia then looks at Miranda weirdly realizing what she is saying sitting next to Miranda. Then she says Pardon I'm the last person who should be talking about this. Renata wants to know who the man was and what his name was plus why hasn't he remarried. Gonzalo says he doesn't know the mans name. He also admits to still being married to Fernanda and to still loving her. Ah oh!

Fernanda argues to her friend Amparo that one who loves does not cause as much damage that Gonzalo has done her. Fernanda believes it would have been better to have died in that moment than to live the agony of so many years. Her friend says think what he felt to find another man kissing you in the hacienda! He should of given me the opportunity to explain myself! Fernanda then has a flashback to "the night". Alfredo enters the house on Gonzalos birthday saying he is going to Italy with his son and he wants to take her too. Fernanada says she is Gonzalos woman and that she loves him. He tells her of a portfolio he has with him with jewelry designed just for her girls that are worth a lot of money. Alfredo argues and doesn't listen to what Fernanda is saying then grabs her and kisses her. Fernanda fights him off just as Gonzalo walks in. Back to reality and Fernanda cries how Gonzalo lost trust in her. Amparo asks how did Gonzalo get into the hacienda? Fern doesn't know. Well someone let him in, or he entered with someone of the hacienda .....

Miranda tells Gonzalo not to talk of her mother anymore. She is sure that Fernanda is paying a price for the harm she has caused them. Of that you can be sure hija Gonzalo retorts. Pamela enters the party area with Alejandro on her arm.

Rebeca is crying and Fabricio threatens Cesar to stop making his mother cry or he will break Cesars face. Cesar laughs. Faby asks his mother to live in the ranch house with him and Florencia when they return from their honeymoon. Cesar laughs again and says that he owns the quinta and the house (apartment) they are in now. Cesar tells Faby that if he puts his paws in the quinta he will throw Faby in jail. Faby promises that Cesar cant take what their father left from her. They go to the engagement party.

Miranda tells Pamela everything that her father has just told them about her mother. Miranda cant believe her father still loves her mother. Pamela points out that Miranda is doing the same thing with Faby. Pamela asks if she would ever like to know her mother. Miranda says that she doesn't want to know her mother because her mother never wanted them (the girls).

Raul, and two other brothers talk about how one of them is going to be an immigrant to the US. Cross the border. They say Amparo raised them like they are her own and that she will be upset to hear that one wants to leave. Fernanda enters the house. The all have dinner where the one boy says how he is going to go. The father is angry that he is stupid and why couldn't he have made money, then they wouldn't have to worry. Fernanda asks the boy to wait until she can figure out another way.

Fabricio looks at Miranda during the engagement party. Mariachis play "Si nos dejan", a classic, which is in my opinion an ironic choice for the party. Pretty scene. Fab and Miranda steal more glances. Finally she can take no more and runs off to cry. Alejandro follows her. She tells him the same thing she said to Tomasa earlier about being a woman no more, she is a ghost, she doesnt exist. He tells her no one in this life dies from love.

Alejandro does a good job consoling Miranda. He says that love does not kill it just leaves hurts. She answers that the wounds of love are the ones that hurt the worst and that you can only cure them with tears. Then they kiss! Not once but several times. Renata and Pamela walk up behind them with Renata probing Pamela about her feelings for Alejandro. Pamela thinks that Alejandro might be falling for her when Renata starts to laugh pointing out the snogging Miranda and Alejandro. Pamela runs off and Miranda goes after her.

The wedding will be in the hacienda Gonzalo tells the newly engaged Faby and Flor. He offers them a honeymoon trip on him.

Miranda tries to explain what she did, He kissed me! Pamela just wants Miranda to figure out what she is doing. She (Pam) doesn't want to fall for Alejandro when Miranda wants him. Flor and Faby walk up, both asking for hugs and congratulations. Miranda has to hug them both.

Amparo and her husband discuss the son who wants to cross the border and what they can do about it. (Juan is the one who wants to leave.) THe father wants to open a taco shop near the factory where he works to earn money so Juan wont have to leave. He wants to set the example that the boys fight for the well being of their family like he does for them.

Julio is upset about the stock market. Gonzalo is not. Renata walks up to have breakfast and gets some money from her father as he leaves for the office behind Julio. Renata gets a phone call from Bertha. Bertha only wants to know how Flor and Renata are. Miranda grabs the phone and apologizes to Bertha and asks to see her. Bertha says that Miranda and Gonzalo have really hurt her. Perhaps she will consider returning. When they hang up Bertha calls Miranda stupid and laughs about her plans to return.

Faby and Cesar continue their fight in Cesars office. Faby doesnt want Cesar to throw their mother out. He also wants to do his work in the quinta. Cesar tells him "too bad you aren't going to put your paws on the property.... I need the house for when I marry Miranda." Faby counters with "don't even dream it. Miranda will never be your wife. She continues to love me and if you don't take care of my mother I will give Miranda hopes about me and she will never be with you. Cesar I'm not so good nor so stupid like you have always thought!" Needless to say Cesar is pissed.

Gonzalo introduces Julio to Alejandro. Julio knew Alejandros father. Alejandro talks about his father and how he died. He states that he knows who killed his father and he wont let the person get away with it who did it. Gonzalo asks what Alejandro thinks about the investments. Julio advises that Gonzalo will put to risk all their investments if he moves them. Gonzalo says its now or never. Alejandro says nothing good will come of it. Gonzalo calls a guy and moves the investments anyway. Very risky Julio says.

Flor is happy that Bertha is coming back to the house as Renata told her. Flor is going to take Bertha to the quinta to live with them after their honeymoon. Flor whines about being nauseous and Miranda claims she has to go to a new hospital to see new doctors. They make plans to go this afternoon. Miranda works out in her head how she will stop Flor and Faby from living together at the "quinta".

Heridas Friday, July 21

Sorry for the delay folks –

Fabricio and Alejandro meet for a drink and Fab asks Alejandro to be the best man at his wedding. Alejandro says yes and then gives Fabricio another speech about being a man and not such a whiner. Fabricio had been going on about Florencia being punished for their illicit love or something like that, so Alejandro had to try and set him straight.

Cesar is talking to some business associate about their business, Cesar is telling him how soon they will be so rich. And by the way, Fab isn’t marrying Miranda. “She will be MINE” he says.

Gonzalo is talking to the previously known only by name Julio. Julio expresses sadness for Miranda’s pain but wastes no time in offering up one of his sons to take Fabricio’s place. Gonzalo tells him de ninguna manera, your kids aren’t good enough. The two men trade insults for a bit and then Gonz kicks him out. He then sits in his chair thinking about how he needs to end his partnership with Julio.

At the pretty new clinic, Joel and the nurse are discussing how nice everything is, la la la. Fernanda comes in with her news about the new position. The others worry about their jobs but Fernanda assures them that everyone will keep their jobs. They go to check on Naty but she’s still asleep. Fernanda then calls Tomasa on the phone for the first time in many years and Tomasa is happy to hear from her. Fernanda says she has to see her, they agree to meet the next day at noon.

Alejandro convinces Gonz to put Florencia in this particular hospital (where her mother Florencia can work on her, only Alejandro knows all the people involved for who they truly are) to receive the best care. Gonz gets a call telling him that all the building permits for the new hotel are tied up, everything is a mess. Gonz fusses and fumes while Alejandro looks very very smug.

Cesar is talking business with that guy again, the other guy is getting cold feet about their shady dealings. Julio comes in and tries to take Cesar’s work away from him. They fight like 6 year olds and it will take the official word from Gonz to settle this.

Miranda comes in the office where Gonz and Alejandro were talking. She mentions finishing a business degree and Alejandro is surprised, he thought she was more the social work type. Miranda is pissed at this, but she gets pissed at everything. Alejandro leaves. Gonz explains to Miranda how Alejandro is tied in with the company, it has to with his tons of money basically. He then tells her that he’s going to put her in charge of the company some day, perhaps soon. Miranda says she can’t do it, Gonz says yes she can, etc. She goes out into the hall and runs into Cesar, who apologizes for the other night. Miranda goes off on him, eventually asking what his problem is with Alejandro anyway? (DUUHH Miranda). Cesar’s pride is wounded because Alejandro doesn’t treat him with proper respect, Alejandro isn’t a ‘socio’ of the company so he should suck up more. Alejandro happens to roll up right then and puff his chest out – “how do you know I’m no socio?” They stare at each other like dogs waiting to fight, Miranda reads them both the riot act. She then goes back into Gonz’s office. She tells him something has to give between Alejandro and Cesar. Gonz says “well, Cesar just works here, Alejandro is bringing a buttload of money to the game, sooo….” Cesar was eavesdropping and slips off. Miranda takes the info on Alejandro’s finances and says she wants to study it.

We see Bertha all bandaged up, dreaming about Alejandro. This totally creeps me out.

Alejandro is complaining to Fernanda about Cesar, Fernanda tells him that Cesar was like a son to her before, she has no idea that he turned into such an ass.

Some curly haired guy fights with Pamela, who is getting photo prints ready for a show. He eventually tears up all her pictures. Miranda finds her on the floor amid her torn photos and vows to help her out against the macho photo gallery culture. Miranda tells Gonzalo, he says he’ll make Curly and his people pay.

A lawyer comes in to talk to Gonz, Gonz wants to know how to break the deal with Julio. The lawyer says it is impossible due to how the company was set up way back when.

Alejandro tells Fernanda that Florencia will go to her hospital. Fernanda is happy. They talk about Fab and Florencia. Fernanda wants to understand because they are in looooove, but Alejandro is more cynical, he says his father spent his whole life in love but then also spent his whole life suffering because of it. He says he won’t be that way.

Pamela and Miranda talk to some lawyers at the police station. Pamela then has a flashback to her fight with Curly from 10 MINUTES AGO. This has never happened, a flashback to an earlier scene in the same show. This is more evidence that we are getting a compact form of this show compared to the Mexico version. Which is fine, don’t get me wrong. These two scenes must be from different capitulos in Mexico but here end up in the same hour.

Alejandro calls Pamela asking about Miranda, they make plans to meet at Pamela’s house.

Florencia starts asking around – “where’s Bertha?” everyone just says “uh the doctor.”

Cesar talks big from behind his desk about how he’ll teach Alejandro a lesson and worries about the whole Julio situation, he has been blaming everything on Julio and it might come undone. Nuria comes in all mocosa to cry to Cesar some more. She spends the whole day with a snotty nose I think. He verbally manipulates her some more. This woman needs to move on, like, yesterday.

Julio talks to Miranda and somehow lets out that he loves Rebeca, Fab and Cesar’s mother. How convenient. He also offers up his sons to her again, she manages to deflect it.

Gonzalo tells Miranda that Pamela is a daughter to him, he’ll defend her to the end. He tells Miranda to be strong for the engagement party.

Tomasa and Miranda talk about Fab some more, again. Tomasa tells Miranda that all the daughters have been victims of Bertha and her machinations.

Heridas, Thursday, July 20

After Miranda has driven off, Alejandro says, “You are going to lose your pride, Miranda, I swear it to you.”

More old friends from Alborada. The actress who played Adalgisa, now is playing Amparo, a friend, apparently, of Fernanda. Fernanda tells Amparo about Florencia’s situation and how upset she is that nothing can be done for Florencia and that she will die without knowing her mother. Amparo suggests prayer to the Virgin of Guadeloupe. The wedding announcement for Miranda and Fabricio has appeared in a newspaper (Fabricio really is a jerk to have not told Miranda earlier) but Fernanda knows that Fabricio is going to marry Florencia. She needs more information about what’s going on with her daughters and she will try and get it from Tomasa.

Renata chews her father out for throwing Bertha out of the house. She knows it was Miranda’s doing. Tomasa observes that Bertha probably made a similar call to Florencia, which provoked her collapse. No one can reach Miranda. Upon being informed that Florencia has been taken ill, Renata starts to call Fabricio. Gonzalo doesn’t want him in his house. Renata points out that Fabricio’s presence has helped Florencia get better in the past. Eventually Gonzalo yields to the pleading of Renata and Tomasa and calls Fabricio.

Cesar tells Fabricio in no uncertain terms that he loves Miranda and he is going to marry her. The Florencia-is-sick call interrupts them. Bertha scurries out of her room and wants to know what happened in the hall outside the apartment. Cesar tells her that Fabricio and Alejandro interrupted him when he was kissing Miranda. Cesar is concerned about Alejandro interfering with his plans for Miranda since he can see that Alejandro is madly in love with Miranda. Bertha says not to worry. Alejandro is hers. She will take him out of the Miranda picture. Cesar is surprised to hear that Bertha is in love with Alejandro.
“Why?” asks Bertha. (Cesar does not say what I was thinking – you’re old enough to be his mother) rather, he says, “I didn’t think you could love anyone.”
“Life is full of surprises,” says Bertha. She puts down the glass of wine saying that tomorrow she is being operated on. Cesar asks what kind of operation and Bertha replies that the operation will give her back her ‘animo’ – spirit or vitality and she will be able to fight against those who stand in her way.

The doctor reports on Florencia. Her attack was precipitated by the news that Bertha had left the house. He doesn’t think hospitalizing her would help and he leaves detailed instructions for giving her medicine with Tomasa. (This means Florencia might actually get her medicine since we know Bertha has been substituting non-effective pills for the real medicine.) Renata demands that Gonzalo permit Bertha to return to the house – for Florencia’s sake and he finally agrees. The doctor’s parting advice is that Florencia must never be depressed or she will buy the farm. Fabricio arrives. Gonzalo tells him to go and cheer Florencia up by talking about the wedding. “You know that Florencia wants to have children when she is married,” says Gonzalo. Fabricio replies that he knows that must not happen and he has taken precautions. Gonzalo says further that he will pretend to like Fabricio while Florencia is alive but once she kicks the bucket, Fabricio had better make himself scarce from the San Llorente family.

Miranda arrives home. She tells Gonzalo that she still loves Fabricio. She can’t change that. Miranda comes into Florencia’s bedroom where Fabricio is sitting by her bedside holding her hand. Miranda wants to explain about what happened at Cesar’s apartment. Fabricio isn’t interested. Miranda insists on telling him that she now understands that he is marrying Florencia out of pity. Fabricio starts to deny it but Florencia wakes up. She wants to know if Bertha is coming back. Miranda says yes and orders Fabricio out of the room. She helps Florencia up so that she can take a shower. Florencia tells Miranda that she could only pay with her life for all that Miranda has done for her. “Don’t say that,” Miranda says to herself.

Gonzalo is annoyed with someone on the phone who can’t find out where Fernanda and her patients have gone. They must have left some trace. Find them. Fabricio come in. (You would think that he might keep away from Gonzalo and let him cool off but no.) Gonzalo wants to know if he has bought an engagement ring yet. Fabricio says that his mother wants him to use her engagement ring. He starts to describe it but Gonzalo says that he knows it well, he helped Fabricio’s father to pick it out. “Can’t we be like we were before?” asks Fabricio. “No,” says Gonzalo, “I don’t forgive treason.” To illustrate, Gonzalo says he will tell Fabricio something now that he is going to be a member of the family. He has told no one this before. 18 years ago he caught his wife with someone else. A flashback to a young Gonzalo coming in with a gun to where his wife is kissing another man. (That other man, unless I am completely wrong, is Arturo Peniche, who played Antonio on Alborada. Actually, it is his voice I recognized.) The lovers beg Gonzalo not to do something stupid until they have explained what is going on. Gonzalo isn’t interested in explanations. He hits Fernanda and knocks her down. He and the man struggle. A gun goes off. “I did what I had to do,” says Gonzalo, “and she ran away without respect (‘consideracion’). “You betrayed Miranda with her own sister and trampled on her love. When we are with other people, I’ll treat you like a son but when we are alone, I’ll treat you like a bastard (‘canalla’).

Alejandro shows Fernanda the plush new setup for her charity patients. She will set up a foundation and Alejandro can be the president and get benefactors. Alejandro tells her that he has talked with the head of a hospital who is very interested in having Fernanda in the cardiology department. Fernanda agrees to go see him provided that Alejandro convinces Gonzalo to bring Florencia there for treatment so she can see her. He agrees.

Bertha is in the operating room. (I suppose it’s too much to hope for that she will be turned into the monster on the outside that she is on the inside.)

Miranda has had her wedding dress sent to Mexico City to give away. Florencia sees it and wants to wear it at her wedding (this is weird). “Don’t you want to choose your own gown?” says Miranda. No, Florencia wants to wear this gown and since what Florencia wants, Florencia gets (or she might die), Miranda says ok.

This evening Fabricio is going to formally ask for Florencia’s hand in marriage. Miranda and Pamela are catering the event. Renata overhears the wedding dress conversation and when Florencia has left the room says, “You’re letting Florencia wear your wedding dress?” “She asked to wear it,” says Miranda. “That hurts you, doesn’t it?” says Renata. “It is like a gash in my soul,” says Miranda, “and you and Florencia are wielding the knives.” “Whatever,” says Renata, unmoved.

Fabricio complains to his mother about Gonzalo treating him like a criminal. He passes on what Gonzalo told him about killing Fernanda’s lover. Rebeca didn’t know about this incident.

Pamela thinks that it is crazy for Florencia to wear Miranda’s wedding dress and that everyone is indulging Florencia too much.

Cesar comes into Gonzalo’s outer office where Nuria is working. He says she looks nice. She complains that sometimes he is nice and other times he insults her. Cesar says that this is her fault. Cesar makes nice with Nuria and says that if she does what he wants, everything will be fine. She tells him that Julio has returned from vacation and has been shut up with Gonzalo all morning. Cesar hopes that Julio is getting the boot from the company.

Gonzalo accuses Julio of not doing his best for the company and compares his performance unfavorably with that of Cesar. Gonzalo says that his investment in the company had declined so much that he on the point of being thrown out of the ‘consejo’ – the council? the board?

Pamela is arranging her photos in a gallery with Miranda’s assistance.

Renata comes to see Cesar. Things are so bad in her house that she wants to move in with him. Cesar tells her that with all that has happened with Florencia, this might kill her father. He will think about it though. He kisses Renata as Nuria comes in. Cesar tells her that he and Renata have known each other since they were children. No big deal.

Alejandro tells Fernanda that he is looking for a portfolio that his father left at Gonzalo’s house when he was caught with Fernanda. Fernanda doesn’t know anything about it. Amparo arrives to help with the patients. She is introduced to Alejandro. When he leaves, she says if she were 10 years younger and 20 pounds lighter, she would go after him herself. Fernanda says she has no similar feelings. He is handsome, true, but he is a good person.

Alejandro has hired some workmen to fix up the bathrooms to keep the old people from having accidents (no, not that kind of accident). He promises that if they do a good job, they can work in a construction company he is forming. They are grateful and get right to work.

Pamela tells an employee of the gallery who is trying to renege on the terms of her contract that he is a macho pig and she isn’t going to be exploited. He meekly leaves and Miranda is impressed. Pamela confesses that she can’t afford to pay any more with the cost of medicine for her mother, etc. Miranda offers to help her but she refuses.

Florencia is upset that none of ther friends can come to her wedding. Tomasa suggests that maybe they don’t want to be involved in the family problem this wedding represents. Tomasa alternately chastises Florencia for destroying Miranda’s life and urges her to stop sniveling and stand up for herself instead of cowering behind her aunt. Florencia says that Bertha was like a mother to her and her sisters. Tomasa says no, a mother sacrifices and suffers for her children and Bertha never did that. Florencia asks why Tomasa doesn’t like Bertha.

Bertha is out of surgery and the doctor says it went very well.

Heridas - Wednesday

Tonights episode begins with Miranda throwing herself at Fabricio. He calls her crazy and says to Pamela that he doesnt know whats going on with her. Pamela calls him an idiot and almost, almost slaps him. Pamela thinks to herself that Miranda is suffering so much that she cant tell her where her mother is.

Florencia asks Tomasa if she is angry. Tomasa answers that she is sad. Miranda has told her what has happened. What Tomasa wants to know is why Florencia is doing this to her sister. Tomasa hits the nail on the head stating that she believes it was Bertha who put the idea of Fabricio in Florencias head. Florencia counters that Fabricio is only a "capricho" for Miranda, a whim. Tomasa tells her "dont fool yourself. No one preapares for a weding, the dress, the invitations for only a whim! .... Tu Tia is the responsible one." Florencia whines "I'll die without Fabricio! I swear" Tomasa "How much it pains me to see you and Renata resemble all the more la senorita bertha." Florencia snaps "And who would you prefer we resemble? My mother? That...?!?!" "Dont offend the woman who gave you life!" Florencia doesnt give up "That woman offended all of us! She abondoned us to go off with that man! She doesnt deserve any consideration from our part." Florencia runs off in a huff leaving Tomasa talking to the Virgin Mary. "Your mother was not that way. Bertha and your father made her run away. Please Virgincita give me strength. Help me to find my granddaughter so she can tell all of what she knows."

Fernanda and Alejandro look over a handsome office. Fernanda exclaims how happy she will be to work in this office. Alejandro tells her that no she wont be working here. Yes she can administrate and do charity work from there but this is not her work. She is one of the countries best cardiologists and she belongs in the biggest hospitals not here. Fernanda says she doesnt want Gonzalo to find her. But Alejandro does. "Dont worry. He will not do you any more damage. And if he tries he will find himself against a force he cannot fight." ***Gosh you gotta like Alejandro!

Gonzalo is upset about business. He is glad the counsel/board didnt ask for Julio's head. (Quien es Julio?) Cesar asks to take over some business items from Julio. Cesar doesnt want Gonzalo to worry becasue he, Cesar, wont defraud him like his brother did. Cesar says that Fabricio has always done these sorts of things. Everything has been easy for him. He has been treated like he is crystal but he is immature and irresponsible. Gonzalo wants to know why Cesar is telling him these things about his brother. Cesar claims its becasue his mother and Gonzalo protect Fabricio too much. "He practically lives in another world." Then Cesar pipes up with this deal closer "I dont know how to say this but I have always loved Miranda. Would you permit me to get close to Miranda?" Gonzalo gets up to tell Cesar "I would be crazy to permit two of my daughters to end up united to you (both)! No Cesar! Not even as a joke dont let yourself get close to my daughter. She is not the woman for you!" After Gonzalo leaves the room Cesar makes a call "I received the deposit on my comission. Avise London to accelerate the merger with the bank. But tell them I want 25% of the stock if they want more information. I'll wait for your call." Cesar then picks up a photo of the three sisters and talks to it. "Miranda Yes you are woman for me. Soon I will show that gross old man."

Fabricio and Florencia meet up. Kiss Kiss. Flowers. Discuss how easily things went with Gonzalo. Kiss Kiss. Miranda walks up to say its time to go. Florencia, Pamela and Miranda leave. Fabricio leaves the flowers on the ground.

Florencia has a cat scan. Miranda walks the hospital halls talking on her cell phone. Alejandro purposely walks into her. They actually have a short and relatively pleasant chat and go their own ways. Fernanda is asked to look at some x-rays by a colege. Fernanda looks at the x-rays and states that the pacient doenst have much time to live. Miranda walks into the same room saying how small is the world? She then asks if Fernanda can help her find and talk with the old lady from the other hospital. Fernanda asks Miranda what is she doing here and is told of Florencia who is also there taking tests. Miranda would like Fernanda to review Florencias tests. Fernanda then is told by the colege that she has already reviewed the sisters x-rays.... They are the ones she just looked at. Fernanda is quite shocked to find out her daughter is dying and does her best to not cry. She leaves the room to go cry in the hospital church.

While she is crying at the alter Pamela walks up to Fernanda. Pamela asks why isnt she volunteering in the town? How did you know? Pamela tells her that she knows she is a volunteer and that she is the mother of her best friend. She is Fernanda de Aragon. Fernanda also admits to crying because her daughter is dying and she cant do anything to save her.

Alejandro and Fabricio are having coffee together rehashing what happened with Gonzalo. Fabricio tells Alejandro how Gonzalo said he would not be the first man that he has killed. Alejandro is stunned and tells Fabricio to believe Gonzalo saying if he said that then it is because he is capable of doing it. Fabricio also tells how Gonzalo told him that Florencia has her days numbered. In his mind Alejandro puts together all the characters that are in the hospital and worries that Fernanda will find out that her daugher is dying. He tells Fabricio to follow him to the hospital.

Bertha and Tomasa are packing for Berthas trip to the plastic surgeon. Enters a furious Gonzalo slaming the door as he enters. He yells at Bertha "How great that you are packing your bags, becasue you leave right now from my house!" "Whats happening Gonzalo? Why are you like this?" "You are to blame for Fabricio betraying Miranda with her own sister!" Bertha tries to calm him down but he wants nothing to do with it. "You know there is one thing I dont forgive and that is betrayal! You just stuck a knife in my back!" Bertha argues that the only sin she did was to help Florencia who has been in love with Fabricio since she was a little girl. But Gonzalo on the other hand is guilty of working too much and paying too little attention to his daughters. The only one who got his attention is Miranda! No one else! What is the name of Florencias most loved doll?!?? What would she call her favorite pillow? Whats her favorite story?! See! Gonzalo is saddened by these points and is finished off by Bertha saying that if she wanted to stab him in the back she would have told about him killing that man. Gonzalo says you dont know what you are saying.

Florencia is comforted by Fernanda in her hospital bed. ***Why Florencia is passed out in a hospital room I dont understand since she is just there for tests. Florencia turns her head and has a memory of "THE NIGHT". Florencia wakes saying dont touch me! Miranda walks in as Florencia is yelling I dont want to see this woman! Get her out! The doctors give her tranquillizers which in my humble opinion she doesnt need any more of.

Fernanda explains to everyone that the tests should have altered Florencia and its normal. Then she tells everyone that Florencia has a few months left of life. The crowd is quiet. Back to Gonzalo and Bertha. Bertha counts her years of loyalty. Gonzalo wants to know why she hasnt told him what was happened. The two versions, Berthas or Fabricios, are completely different. He doesnt know who to believe. He asks where she is going, the apartment in Polanco? Bertha says No! She has been thrown out of his house and you wont see me again. He asks her to think of Florencia. She says After today she is only going to think of herself! Not one humillation more Gonzalo! Then she asks him to look at her back and tell her who stabbed who in the back as she slams the door behind her.

Bertha goes to see Cesar. It late at night, well the moon is out. He is not happy to see her especially since Miranda is about to arrive. Bertha says she will be there for a few days. Gonzalo threw her out becasue of his stupid brother. He reluctantly tells her to take a room to the left. She asks if he is going to conquistar Miranda. This sick little joke they laugh about between themselves. Cesar then leaves as the phone rings in Cesars place and the answering machine picks up so Bertha can hear. Its a guys voice stating that "London accepted to give you 25% of the stock. They need a list of the most important investments of San LLorente Investments and the financial state of Gonzalo San LLorente. Send it to us by email like always." Bertha says to herself "Why do we have these Cesarin. Nor are you going to take what is mine. Everything that Gonzalo has belongs to me. Up until his life."

Alejandro consuls Fernanda. He feels horrible that Fernanda had to find out that way that her daughter is dying. He wants her to be strong. Fernanda has figured out that somethings is fishy with Florencia, her illness, and her history of being with the best doctors. She shouldnt be dying is what Fernanda believes.

Gonzalo tells Miranda that Bertha didnt lie to them about Florencia. Miranda warns that the doctors said that Florencia cant receive any shocks or get pregnant. If she does she will die. They decide to be together on this, to arrange everything to be easier for Florencia. Tomasa however overhears everything. Florencia then comes up to her father after Miranda has left. She apologizes and talks of her love of Fabricio to him. She tells him that the thing she most wants in the world is a child.

Cesar and Miranda chat it up in his apartment. He has told her things about Fabricio but we dont hear exactly what -Just Miranda saying You're sure? "Yes Fabricios has always been like that. You never permitted me to get near you." Cesar says he just wants her to open her eys to Fabricio. Then Cesar goes on to say that Faby yelled at him and blamed him for everything. He says that Faby claims that Miranda and her father pressed Faby to marry Miranda. That it was all her invention. Plus Faby felt like an object with her, a capricho. Miranda cries while Bertha is impressed with Cesars acting skills as she listens from the other room.

Bertha calls Florencia and tells her that her father threw Bertha out. Florencia suffers a big shock and holds her chest. Cesar walks Miranda out of his apartment. He claims she cant drive in her state. She hugs him and then he takes her weak moment as an opportunity to kiss her. She tries to push him away and he pulls her tighter to him. Lucky for her Alejandro walks up, sees the struggle and breaks them apart. The men lock eyes, they spout a few words but Cesar puts a stunner in when he says he is going to marry Miranda. Alejandro wants to know what he is talking about. Cesar says "dont give me orders. Im going to talk with my brother." (Fabricio is also there.) Fabricio tells Cesar that Alejandro is a partner of Cesars boss and he cant talk to him like that. Alejandro also isnt deterred. He tells Cesar that "Get this - whether you like it or not I am a partner of your boss and you are going to respect me here or wherever you meet me. And I warn you dont mess with Miranda! Clear?!"

Tomasa finds Florencia passed out on her bed. Gonzalo and Tomasa call the docotr. Alejandro catches up to Miranda out in the street. He asks her if it is true if she is going to marry Cesar. She doesnt answer him and instead tells him to worry about his wife and his child. He smiles at that answer as she drives off. ***Ha! I like him even if she doesnt.

Barrera update, July 19

I've been keeping an eye on Barrera and it is my sad duty to inform anyone who is interested that Nutria, who had the double misfortune to fall in love with Unibrow and have him not be able to love her back, is dead. She was murdered by Manola who took the opportunity when she was visiting to turn on the gas burner on a stove (without lighting it) when Nutria was taking a nap induced by the medicine she was taking for her brain tumor. By getting rid of Nutria, Manola hopes to be able to get Unibrow for herself for what reason I cannot imagine.

Heridas, Tuesday, July 18

Fabricio and Florencia continue making out by the waterfall. Clothes come off and we are left to imagine the rest.
Alejandro is speaking on the phone to Lasagna (Lisania). She says, “...and that’s why I said I was your daughter.” Alejandro isn’t annoyed. “It’s good that you had that little joke.” The real reason that Lasagna called was to ask if she could come to Mexico. “Sure,” says Alejandro. “Have Daira take a vacation, come over here and see if you like it. If not, you can return to Italy.”

Gonzalo reacts angrily to the news Rebeca (Fabricio’s mother) brings him about Fabricio dumping Miranda. However, knowing about Florencia’s limited future, he sees things from a different perspective. He tells Rebeca that Miranda is strong and healthy – she’ll get over being dumped. Fabricio and Florencia must marry immediately so that she can be happy in the time she has left. Rebeca doesn’t understand so Gonzalo tells her about Florencia’s death sentence. “Shouldn’t you tell Fernanda?” asks Rebeca. “No,” snaps Gonzalo, “I’ll tell her after Florencia is dead so she can suffer even more.” Rebeca protest that Fernanda has a right to see her daughters but Gonzalo is adamant that while he lives, his wife will never see his daughters.

Bertha comes into Miranda’s room with Renata to tell her and Pamela that a plane will take Miranda to her father’s office tomorrow. Miranda tells Bertha that she is not allowed to come into her bedroom. “Sorry,” says Bertha, “I won’t do it again. I only came to thank you in advance for offering to help Florencia plan her wedding.”
“The only wedding I’m planning is mine,” responds Miranda. Bertha then tells Miranda about Florencia’s death sentence and suggests that if Miranda wants to make the last months of her sister’s life miserable, that’s fine. Miranda refuses to believe her. “Well, I’ve given my message,” says Bertha with a nasty smirk that makes you want to hit her. “If Florencia dies, it will be on your conscience.” Miranda still doesn’t believe her and plans to check with a doctor in Mexico City. Bertha leaves with Renata and Miranda asks Pamela is she believes what Bertha said about Florencia. Pamela isn’t sure but thinks that the consequences are so serious that she should act as if she does believe it for now.

Renata tells Bertha that she won’t support her in a lie that ugly. “It’s no lie,” says Bertha. She tells Renata that Florencia doesn’t know and that they all have to be strong and calm to make her last days happy. Renata is zombified by this news. Bertha gives her a necklace and tells her to go find Florencia and tell her that Miranda accepts her relationship with Fabricio and will be happy to plan her whole wedding. Like an obedient zombie, Renata goes out without saying a word.

Alone, Bertha throws out Florencia’s medicine and replaces it with homeopathic tranquillizers. “I don’t know why I waited so long to get rid of those three,” she says, “but it’s never too late to begin. No one will take away what is mine.” Then she says that she has a another reason to fight – Alejandro. She’s fallen for Alejandro!

Renata finds Florencia staring at the sky and wishing she were a star. She tells Florencia about Miranda’s willingness to help with her wedding. Florencia is doubtful but Renata convinces her.

Miranda is wearing a shorty red nightgown and taking off her makeup when Florencia knocks. Florencia says, “The only thing I can say is thank you for your understanding. You are a good sister.” Miranda says that there is no reason to thank her. Florencia says that she didn’t expect that Miranda would offer to help her with her wedding plans. Miranda says that for Florencia’s and Fabricio’s happiness, she would do anything. Florencia breaks down and asks Miranda to forgive her and then she seems to have a little trouble breathing. Miranda asks if she has taken her medicine, does she need a doctor. Florencia says that she just took her medicine but it takes a little while to take effect. Florencia says that she loves Fabricio but that if Miranda asks, she won’t marry him. Miranda can’t find anything to say…

Fabricio and Alejandro are having a drink. Alejandro tells Fabricio that his only option is to face Gonzalo’s fury and marry Florencia as soon as possible – and get away from Miranda. Fabricio does not believe that as a person who has never been in love, Alejandro can give him advice. Alejandro says that love was invented for romantics, not for a man like him.

Florencia continues weeping and apologizing to Miranda for loving Fabricio. She reveals that unbeknownst to Miranda, she made a second trip to Germany to get it on with Fabricio. Miranda is surprised but the possibility that Bertha was right about Florencia makes her unable to say anything. Once Florencia leaves, Miranda opens a chest, takes out what appear to be her wedding invitations and rips them up, crying.

Florencia goes to see Bertha who appears to be playing with dolls. Florencia tells her that Miranda has agreed to help her with her wedding but she is still sad that she has hurt her sister so much. Bertha says that she deserves it for the bad things that Miranda has done to Florencia. Bertha then changes the subject and tells Florencia that when she is married, she should produce the first grandchild. Florencia is enraptured by the idea and promises to name a girl after Bertha. But Bertha is thinking that if Florencia gets pregnant, she wouldn’t live to see the child baptized.

A dream Alejandro visits Miranda to tell her things like, ‘it always darkest before the dawn’ and he won’t give her just one new day but thousands. Miranda wakes up to an empty room and starts crying for Fabricio.

The next morning all the young women and Tomasa leave for Mexico City in a private plane.

In Gonzalo’s office, Cesar sneaks up behind Nuria and grabs her. A depressing scene follows in which Nuria says that being raped by Cesar made her feel dirty but she wants to marry him. He tells her that a nobody from an orphanage is not executive spouse material. I don’t believe this relationship has much future.

Pamela is trying to get some information about the clinic in an office with a nun. She finds out that ‘Doctor Fernandez’ is really Fernanda de Aragon, Miranda’s mother!

Gonzalo is talking with Cesar about the problems that Julio have caused them. I don’t know exactly what they are talking about but Gonzalo says that if the market falls, his business is toast.

Cesar runs into Miranda in Gonzalo’s outer office. Nuria is there as well. Miranda won’t talk to him and Nuria says that Miranda is always putting Cesar down. Cesar says that Miranda will soon be his wife because she is a real woman, unlike Nuria.

Miranda meets with her father. She asks him to let her go away with Fabricio. Gonzalo is not too encouraging. He asks Miranda to let Florencia marry Fabricio. Then Fabricio comes in. Gonzalo chews him out. Fabricio admits that he has done a bad thing and betrayed Gonzalo, his foster-father. Miranda says Fabricio isn’t guilty – this whole thing was instigated by Bertha. Neither Gonzalo or Fabricio believe this. Then Gonzalo asks Miranda to leave him alone with Fabricio. Gonzalo says that he could kill Fabricio right now and it wouldn’t be the first person he has killed.

Alejandro comes into the room with the nun and Pamela. He asks her to have a drink with him and she accepts. He pumps her for information about Miranda – does she really love Fabricio or is he just a caprice? Pamela won’t cooperate in this game but she gives Alejandro her phone number.

Alone with Fabricio, Gonzalo tells him that he will marry Florencia as soon as possible. He tells Fabricio about Florencia’s short life expectancy. However, Gonzalo makes it clear that once Florencia is dead, he doesn’t want to see Fabricio again or he will kill him. He doesn’t tolerate traitors. Gonzalo tells Fabricio to get out and buy Florencia an engagement ring and to put it on his account. Only the best for Florencia.

Miranda agrees to meet Cesar in his apartment that evening and Cesar rubs Nuria’s nose in it.

Fernanda is leaving for Mexico City to see Alejandro about moving the clinic to someplace in Mexico City and being able to help people. She is all excited about this.

Bertha meets with the plastic surgeon and signs up for a face and boob lift and will be reborn. She is all excited about this.

Miranda talks to Fabricio in a park. She says that she still loves him and suggest that he could marry Florencia but they could still have a relationship. Fabricio says she is crazy and leaves. Pamela arrives to comfort her.

Heirdas - Monday July 17

Miranda hangs up the phone on the daughter of Alejandro cussing at him for being married and having a daughter. The daughter answers as her mother asks "Did you talk with your brother?" The sister/daughter (Lisania) says that a fool answered the phone for Alejandro and then laughs at how she said she was his daughter.

Fabricios mother confronts him about playing with two sisters and how he could cause a tragedy. She warns him that nothing is finished, everything is just beginning. Fabricio then remembers telling Miranda how he fell for Florencia in Germany.

Miranda is still fuming over finding out that Alejandro has a daughter and is like all men when Alejandro rides back to see if she has seen his phone. She gets sassy with him about the phone claiming she doesnt have it. Suddenly they stumble onto a rattlesnake. Her horse takes off and he tells her to hurry to get out of there so she doesnt lose another horse.

Cesar and his mother argue about how she wants Cesar to guide/help Fabricio. She wants Cesar to talk with his brother about how to approach Gonzalo. Cesar says that Gonzalo will kill Fabricio without thinking. **Chris is right! This guy needs some diction classes. Or he might be drunk? This could explain the evil eyes and the slurred words.

Cesar finds Fabricio in a pretty pink room. Both men match the room, their shirts are pink. They are pretty in pink. I digress. Cesar asks Fabricio about how is he going to avoid being killed by Gonzalo. Everything is planned for the big wedding and he is messing things up.... Fabricio says that what he does is his business and not Cesars. Cesar insults his manhood and Fabricio claims that Cesar will see that he is not such a nobody like Cesar thinks. Cesar says he himself will be the next husband of Miranda. Fabricio laughs and says that Cesar cant give happiness to anyone because he doesnt have it for himself. He adds for fun that Miranda might be with Cesar but she will be thinking of him. Ha!

Bertha and Florencia talk about how Bertha has been such a great help. The house would be different without her there. Florencia is worried that Fabricio is with Miranda. Bertha tells her to not to look for Fabricio that she could get her reputation ruined. Then she slams Florencias mother just to finish off her sweet advice. Pamela walks up and asks them to tell Miranda where she has gone. She is off to take pictures. Pamela then makes the mistake of talking about how Miranda went to ride her new horse with Alejandro. Bertha snaps at her telling her to not make those comments about Miranda. She could ruin Mirandas reputation! Then up walks Renata to say that Miranda was spotted by a neighbor riding with a cute man! Who is it?

Alejandro and Miranda quarrel as they walk back looking for Cacao the new horse. Alejandro grabs her arm as she tries to walk over a creek saying she is going to fall. She tells him to stop treating her like a child! He lets go and and she falls in. She grabs his hand and pulls him in. They fight splashing water and mud on one another.

Cesar snoops through Alejandros room looking to see how much money he has.... Villas in the Canary Islands, Hotel in Las Cascadas de Iguazu, etc..... Cesar spots his laptop and looks at what stocks and gold he has. He thinks so much money cant be clean? He then spies a hand drawing of Miranda. He must have somehting in his past????

Renata complains that Miranda always has good luck with cute guys. Bertha says that it pains her for them to see Miranda behaving like this. If Miranda is having relaxed morals it is because she inherited it from her mother.

Cesar calls Bertha and the evil duo discuss Miranda and Alejandro. Cesar repeats that he thinks Alejandro is in love with Miranda. Bertha cant believe it. They agree to talk later.

Miranda and Alejandro find a waterfall and swimming hole. She tells him to go look for Cacoa so she can wash. She takes off her clothes to rinse off the mud just as Alejandro claims he has found the horse and turns to tell her so. He smiles at her nakedness. Bad Bad Boy.

Cesar comes to talk with Bertha. She wants to go and find Miranda. She claims that if Miranda crosses her road she will wish she had never been born.

Alejandro takes a turn swimming/bathing. He asks her if she is bothered to see a naked man. She makes a joke back and then they both agree they were out of line. She of course gives him a little lecture which he seems to like. When they walk back to the quinta she tells him that she knows what class of man he is. They are interrupted by Cesar and Bertha. She tells Bertha not to touch her new horse. Bertha asks why they are wet and Miranda says they went to bathe in the waterfall. Bertha scolds Miranda for not behaving properly, what if your father finds out?!?!? Cesar jumps into protect Mirandas honor. Miranda quickly shuts the fight down by saying that "Neither of you have rights or obligations over me. Neither am I your property. If you want to fight. Do it but dont use me as a pretext."

Later Bertha complains to Miranda that it has to be a lie what she is doing to her father. How could she be so cruel ? Miranda has no idea what Bertha is upset about. Bertha claims she tried to teach Miranda values and now she is letting her lust get in the way! Alejandro is a business partner of her father! Miranda warns her to stop because she is going to get hurt. Bertha calls her ungrateful and an egoist. Miranda tells Bertha that she is no better and not to enter her room.

Florencia and Renata talk about how Florencia is feeling. Florencia wonders why Fabricio would want her when she is sick and Miranda looks so beautiful and strong. Renata gets on her about being insecure while Florencia says its hard to be me!!!!

Alejandro and Fernanda talk about how to stop them from being removed from the hospital. Alejandro says he will try and find some help in Mexico City. Fernanda thanks him and asks what happened to his father. Dayra (a friend of his father) found him (the father) in a river. He was very hurt and after 10 months he died but he never stopped thinking of her.

Then it was Alejandros turn to ask questions. That night you stayed with the portfoilios of my father? No I left with what I had been given. What was in there? Exclusive jewelry designs in a secret compartment and some notarized documents. Fernanda goes on to say that night has been a horrible memory that she hasnt wanted to think of it and now Alejandro is putting it right in front of her to see again, images, memories.

Fabricio tells Florencia that his mother is going to tell his godfather. He wants Florencia and him to move away from his godfather and Miranda. Miranda walks up and says she wants to talk with him. Why me? I was an imbecile. A coward. You have to be strong. I cant! THey kiss. Or I should say they make out. He then says he will be like a brother for her. She says no that kiss gave you away!

Florencia cries that she let Fabricio and Miranda talk. Bertha comes up to her to comfort her. Bertha tells her that the only thing she has done is defend the man she loves. God will pardon everthing. Tomorrow Bertha is going to a doctor for a big surprise. Soon people will see just who is Bertha Aragon.

Miranda goes into town with Pamela to see the doctor Fernandez. The nurse LuLu breaks down telling Miranda that soon they will have to leave so a luxury hotel can be built. What will happen to the ancianos? Miranda is shocked that someone would do this to the ancianos. She is sure Alejandro has gotten her father involved in this... LuLu tells Fernanda that Miranda is there. Alejandro finds out that the girls dont know who their mother is. He is angry calling Gonzalo a worm. Fernanda asks him how he is going to quell his conscience for the horror of vengenance. Fernanda walks in to the room where Miranda is to hear an old woman calling Miranda Fernanda Aragon. Miranda walks out for a second and Fernanda runs to the old lady. The old lady says she has a pistol.

Gonzalo directs Cesar. He then states to his secretary that he wants Miranda at the hacienda early tomorrow morning to do some prospective finances. A doctor enters the office confirming that Florencia has few days left to live. **Gosh I love Gonzalos voice!

Miranda and Pamela talk about why the old lady would confuse her with her mother. Alejandro walks up but Miranda interrupts to get mad at him for wanting to tear the hospital down. Alejandro doesnt clear anything up. Miranda finally gives him his cell phone back. She tells him he recieved an important call. He asks her what the message is but she doesnt tell him anything.

Fabricios mother tells Gonzalo that Fabricio broke his engagement to Miranda for Florencia. Florencia and Fabricio, meanwhile, kiss it up near a man made waterfall.

Heridas de Amor - Friday July 14

We pick right up where we left off Wednesday, in the hallway at the clinic. I wondered why episodes of Heridas take longer to watch than the other shows, I thought maybe I was having trouble understanding new voices, but then I realized that they aren’t padding the running time of the show by repeating 10 minutes from yesterday’s show. More bang for the buck here I think. Anyway, Fernanda is gazing at her daughter. Miranda asks her “have we seen each other before?” Fernanda says that Miranda hasn’t seen her, but that she has seen Miranda many many times. “uh in magazines and stuff, that’s how I know that you’re soon to be married to Fabricio.” Miranda turns her head like she just got punched in the stomach. Fernanda says “did I say something wrong?” Fernanda is informed about the big breakup, though without all the details about the other sister and everything. Fernanda tells Miranda to be strong. After Miranda and Pamela walk away, a nurse asks Fernanda, “Why did you say you were Dr. Fernandez?” Fernanda Fernandez ignores the obvious comeback of “because Fernanda Fernandez is a way cool name” and instead tells her “Just don’t say anything to them about my real name.” Great answer, way to convince the nurse that there isn’t anything strange going on. Nice work.

We see Gonzalo on the phone at Miranda’s house, yelling at somebody. “I don’t care about the damn clinic or the people there, I want my building there and I want it done now! Because I said so!” Bertha comes in with a drink for him. He asks her where Nuria is, he wants her to do some work. “Oh she went back to Mexico city early this morning.” Bertha then tries to rub up on him a little while holding the drink out to him. He pushes her off “get away woman I’m not drunk so don’t get so close to me.” Healthy relationship here.

Back to the clinic – Fernanda apologizes for upsetting Miranda and then tells her that she lives in Mexico but volunteers at the clinic. Miranda says her father is there too, she says he still believes in the class system but that she doesn’t, she believes in helping those in need. I think this scene was to establish how Miranda is like her mother in that way.

Fabricio and Alejandro are having coffee or something and Alejandro is playing big brother. “Boy that Miranda is some kind of bitch but damn she looks good. How could you cheat on her?” This reminds me of something a friend told me in college after he caught me looking too long at some really hot girl who was with another guy – “remember Chris, now matter how hot she is, there’s some other guy somewhere who is sick and tired of her crap.” Fabricio’s reasoning doesn’t go down this road, but I thought that was worth mentioning. Fabricio says it was his fault, for being gone so long and letting the relationship exist as it did before he left. He was in Europe for five years and during that time Bertha brought Florencia for visits with doctors, he spent more and more time with Florencia and they fell in love. Then just when he was making sense he says “I don’t know what I want.” Alejandro tells him “you have to figure that out! Especially fooling around with sisters, you could cause quite a tragedy. Don’t play with fire.” At this point Cesar rolls in and tells Alejandro that he has a few minutes and can take him where he needs to go and drop him off. Well I think that’s what he said, what I actually heard was “I have a little time mmmmmrmrmr mmffffmmmmmrmrrmfm mffmfmg mgm fmm fmfgmmf mmfg let’s go.” This guy is the most marblemouthed actor I’ve ever heard in any language. I’ll admit he has a face made for novelas/soaps, nobody ever REALLY looks that pissed off but he does that look great. And his eyes look either evil or like he’s been getting baked back in his trailer. But he can’t talk. He mumbled his line and I hit pause. Before I could complain about how he spoke, my wife sais “I can’t understand him either, rewind it.” After three tries we pieced together that guess about giving Alejandro a ride. Somebody get this guy a speech coach.

Pamela and Miranda return from the clinic. They talk about how nice Fernanda is and how she must have experienced a lot of pain in her life to understand to say the understanding things she said. A servant sticks her head out of a doorway and says “your dad told me to tell you to tell him to tell the other one, who will tell me, to tell you, when your dad is here, then to tell her to tell him to tell you to tell her to tell him to tell you he is here. He’s in the other room.” Really, that’s what she said, if you have it on tape go back and listen. Pamela asks Miranda, “what are you going to tell him about Fabricio? If you tell him he’ll chase him down and kill him!” Miranda agrees but says she has to tell him. Well, she can wait until he’s back in Mexico City, far away from Fabricio. Pamela says yes, great idea, until then act normal. Which I’m sure will be no problem after your fiancée just dumped you. Buck up Miranda!

Back to the clinic. There is a guy straight out of ‘mob enforcer’ central casting in Fernanda’s office telling her that they all have 48 hours to clear out of the building or they’ll clear the building out for her. “48 hours and this building is MINE” and he stomps out. He’s a real people person, that’s why he makes the customer calls I think. The nurse is a wreck, “what are we going to do?” I swear I was waiting to hear “Que vamos a haTHer?” in Adalgisa’s voice (from Alborada of course). Fernanda says they need to talk to the governor, or perhaps create some big scandal to bring attention to their plight.

Miranda and Pamela are in the living room with Gonzalo and Bertha. Miranda tells a servant to get her horse, Chocolate, and another horse ready, they are going to go riding. Bertha butts in and says that the other horse belongs to Florencia!
Miranda: so? Florencia is too sick to ride but Pamela can ride.
Bertha: well if you can’t respect other’s things….
Miranda: Every animal in this house belongs to ME. Besides, Florencia doesn’t even like animals, so it doesn’t matter. No hay problema. Papa, will you come ride?
Gonzalo: No, I’m headed back to Mexico City later today.
Bertha: But you were going to stay for a couple days! You can’t change your plans without telling me!
Miranda: He doesn’t have to tell you anything. (turns to Gonzalo) Or do you?
Gonzalo: Of course not!
(Bertha storms out of the room but stays on the other side of the doorway to eavesdrop.)
Miranda: Dad, kick her out of this house. I don’t want her here around my sisters or around you. Yes, I know what is happening between you two and I don’t agree with it. You can do whatever you want but not in my house or near my sisters. Give her some money and put her up in the condo in Polanco.
Gonzalo: If that’s what you want, asi sera.

Bertha is really in a huff now. She storms through the house and out to the yard and we hear her thoughts. “Ok Chocolate, you are the first thing Miranda is going to lose. Miranda, you are going to pay like my sister did before for being in my way.” She gets to the stable and nods at Gabino the stable guy, who then walks into the stall with Chocolate. In his hand is a leather strap with a bunch of nails pounded through it and then bent. We hear chain clanking sounds and lots of horse whinnying and whining sounds. Obviously Gabino is whipping the horse with that thing. Gross. Bertha weeps, perhaps regretting what she did but I don’t buy that. Gabino comes back out and stares at her, she turns and leaves. He then pulls out a wad of cash from his pocket, I’m sure this is to mean that Bertha gave him the money to do this to the horse. My wife estimated the wad of bills at about 50,000 pesos. She worked as a bank teller in Mexico so I trust her estimate. Either that or she was drug runner and never told me. Either way, I’ll believe her.

Alejandro and Cesar walk up to the clinic. Alejandro asks him, “you won’t stay?” Cesar mumbles something like “mmmrmfefe gotta go mrfffararmfmm” and leaves. Alejandro says hello to the people outside, then says to himself, “how can that desgraciado tear down a clinic? Now I know for sure what an infeliz he is! I won’t allow it!” He goes inside looking for who is in charge. Fernando says “Me. And what of it? Are you here to give me an ultimatum too?” She proceeds to go off on him for a full minute. Alejandro stands there with the Luis Manrique y Arellano face, the one where he says “QUEEEE??” and his eyes bug out.

Gonzalo is talking to Gabino at the stable. Gabino says “the vet says maybe a jaguar did it.” Gonzalo screams at him, “then get some guys and GO FIND IT! How am I going to tell Miranda? It is her favorite horse!” Speak of the devil, here comes Miranda. She sees Gonzalo and thinks he is going to ride with her. Gonz – “uh no, there has been an accident.” (I think I’ll call him Gonz, that sounds cool. Gonz. Yeah.) Gabino says “uh yeah a jaguar we think.” Thanks for that brilliant input Gabino. He couldn’t look any more guilty if he were standing there with horse blood on him. Bertha shows up and starts blaming Gabino for everything. “you didn’t lock the door. Your fault. Neener neener. You suck.” The vet comes out of the stable. The guy playing the vet is the same guy who was Diego’s fencing instructor in Alborada. He looks better here without the bad long hair he had before. The vet says the horse is suffering. Miranda wants to be alone with Chocolate. She cries a lot. The vet says he can’t save him probably due to nerve damage, etc. Miranda says to put him down. She cries some more.

Fernanda is apologizing to Alejandro for yelling at him. “sorry I just feel so desperate right now.” Alejandro the perfect gentleman says no prob, tell me how I can help. She says he has done enough already just by listening to her. “Oh and I haven’t properly introduced myself, I’m Fernanda de Aragon.” Loud music. Alejandro has the Luis “QUEEE?” face again. He says, “you are the woman who was always in love with Fernando Luque?” (that was Alejandro’s father) Fernanda says how do you know? “Because I am his son! The baby you took care of after my mother died!” They hold a tearful little reunion. Fernanda asks the obvious question. “what are you doing here?” “I’ve been looking for you for years. I’m here doing some business etc etc.” She fills him in on her work and where she lives, etc. Finally she asks what happened to him after his father died. He says, “he didn’t die. Your husband killed him!” More loud music.

Miranda is yelling at Gabino, blaming him for not being careful enough with the horses. Gabino might as well be wearing a shirt that says “guilty” on it. The vet says the horse is really suffering, the injection to kill him is only making him hurt, he won’t die. Miranda tells Gabino to shoot the horse, the vet says he won’t do it. She cries some more. She thinks, “why would a jaguar come bother just that one horse? And nobody heard anything? This doesn’t make sense.”

Bertha and Gonz in the house – Bertha says to Gonz that he should stop Miranda from killing the horse, it’s valuable. Gonz says that Miranda is the boss, she makes the decisions. Everything is hers and will be hers. Bertha says “Esta bien! You give her everything and all I wanted was to be your wife but now that won’t happen.” Gonz – “we can’t fight about Miranda, she is my daughter, period, she will always win over you.” “but you treated me as a woman, why won’t you give me that status in this house?” “don’t confuse me coming to boink you when I’m drunk with treating you like a woman.” He then tells her that she should go to the condo and he’ll keep her in cash. Then BANG they hear a gunshot, that must be Gabino shooting the horse. Bertha tells Gonz that he is killing her, just like the horse and just like he had treated his wife! Boo hoo!

Alejandro says he’ll help Fernanda, she tells him to be careful. Will he come back to see her? Of course! Again, she tells him to be careful. Ok we get it. Proceed with caution. Check. Got it. Alejandro tells her, “for your peace of mind, my father didn’t die that night, it was later.” Dum dum da DUM.

Miranda runs in “Papa we killed him.” He says yes, he knows, it was for the best. Miranda says “I know it wasn’t a jaguar, it was my aunt and for no other reason than to just be evil.” Gonzalo changes the subject because Bertha is standing RIGHT THERE. “Where is Fabricio?” Miranda – “oh he’s busy with his partner.” Gonz tells Bertha, “go find him and tell him that my daughter is more important than his coworkers.” When Bertha leaves, Gonz starts to tell her “uh I don’t know how to tell you about me and her…” Miranda says “whatever, get her out of this house.” “yes I will, I promise.” Pamela comes in and asks Miranda how she’s feeling. “muy triste.” Gonz excuses himself. Tomasa the servant comes to help comfort Miranda, lots of hugs. Miranda then goes to her room and looks at a flower. She says to herself, “I just KNOW that Bertha is involved.” She throws a tantrum and destroys the flower smashing it against the wall.
Tomasa and Pamela come in, Miranda says she feels like this all is a premonition, Tomasa what do you think? “I don’t know, I didn’t hear anything.” “yes, neither did Gabino. Bertha thinks we are all idiots.”

The sisters cry about Chocolate with Bertha. Florencia asks “why not an injection?” Bertha starts with some more crap “because Miranda said not to. There was a surgery and she wouldn’t pay for it, she said to shoot the horse.” The sisters are shocked, naturally. “The vet told me. But don’t say anything to her that we know! I don’t want her to think I’m a gossip!” Nice cover Bertha, well played. She then tells them that she has to leave the house but says she’ll be back after a while.

Alejandro is on the phone with a lawyer. “I know Gonz must have bribed some people to get that building approved. Don’t let him get away with it. Give me time to find a place to move the people in the clinic.” Fabricio enters, says he’s going to the house, does Alejandro want to go? Why, he says, so I can see Miranda while you see your girlfriend? Fabricio fills him in on what happened with the horse.

Bertha is lounging and Tomasa is packing her bags for her. Tomasa obviously doesn’t like Bertha. Bertha tells her to keep her mouth shut about whatever she knows or she (Tomasa) will never see her granddaughter again! Dum da DUM!! Maybe someday she can see her, if she keeps her mouth shut. I guess we’ll find out more about this later on. Tomasa says she should have just run away with the girl ‘that day.’ Bertha says “you should just be glad she’s still alive.” I have my suspicions about this story, but I don’t want to spoil anything.

Some kid comes into Fernanda’s office, his name is Joel, her godson. He’s happy to see her, but his family is being evicted from their home. Nice to meet you Joel, since this scene was here just to introduce you, mucho gusto.

Alejandro is on the phone with the Italian woman again, saying he has to find ‘the briefcase.’ We see Bertha toying with what must be that same briefcase right that moment in her own room. Alejandro goes on “whoever has that holds me in their hands.” More foreshadowing, today’s episode is the episode that launched 1000 storylines. Alejandro thinks, “Miranda needs someone to bring her high and mighty self back down to earth. That someone will be ME.”

Miranda is in bed crying, “why God why me? Why did you forget me?” boo hoo hoo hoo.

The next morning – Miranda and Tomasa walking, Miranda is whining about Fabricio some more. I thought “still?” and then realized that it has only been like a day since she got dumped. Gabino rolls up with a white horse and tries to give it to Miranda. “it’s yours.” He gives her a note that says the horse’s name is Cacao and it is from Alejandro. She says she’s going to go find him and tell him that she is ‘una dama’ and can’t accept gifts from men she doesn’t know.

Joel is helping at the clinic. Fernanda and the nurse talk to an old woman. “what is your name WHAT IS YOUR NAME???” The woman croaks “Natividad de la Cruz.” Fernanda starts doing cartwheels “it’s Naty! Naty! Hey, it’s Naty!” Who is Naty? I have no idea. We’ll find out later I guess.

Fabricio and Alejandro are having breakfast.
Fabricio – Where did you find that horse so fast?
Alejandro – don’t worry about it.
F – Don’t think she’s just another of your conquests
A – None of your beeswax anyway. Besides, we’re both single.
F – Sorry, you’re right. I’m just confused.
A – What are you going to do anyway?
F – I’m going to tell Gonz that I’m marrying Florencia.
Fabricio’s mom walks in just in time to hear that last part.
Mom – De ninguna manera! You will marry Miranda!
F – No way mom! I’m going to marry Florencia! GOD! Why can’t you let me run my own life! (ok after ‘marry Florencia’ the rest was my embellishment)
Mom – You are so irresponsible! Gonz saved dad’s money that he left us. When did this start with Florencia anyway?
Before we can find out again when they hooked up, the scene changes.

Bertha sees Renata at the breakfast table. “Where are the others?” “well, Florencia is in the shower and Miranda is riding her new horse.” “WHAT new horse?” Tomasa jumps in “a new white horse, it arrived very early this morning as a gift.” Bertha sniffs, “well she’ll have to return it, she es una dama and can’t accept that.” Screw that! If somebody just handed me a car, I’m keeping it. Renata says “Why not?” Bertha explains that women of status don’t accept gifts, bla bla bla. And then says “because that is what your mom did! She ran off with some guy who bought her stuff!” Tomasa gets back to the business at hand. “I’m telling Gabino to lock up that horse good. We wouldn’t want a jaguar to come and attack just that one horse silently and leave the others alone, would we? RIGHT, Bertha?” Bertha excuses herself from the table.

Miranda rides her horse in slow motion through the trees. Alejandro rides his horse in slow motion through the trees too. Of course they run into each other. Alejandro, “nice to see you!” Miranda starts to say something haughtily but Alejandro cuts her off.
“Don’t tell me, you can’t accept the gift, etc etc”
M – “no, I love it and it’s not his fault, I’m keeping him. But don’t get me anything else. You can’t conquer me with gifts.”
A – “whatever. Every time you ride that horse you’ll think of me.”
M – “Sure, because you two look the same! (ooooh burn!) Hey, what is your business with my dad?
A – we’re building a hotel, but you can ask him for the details.
M – don’t be an asshole. You and I don’t have anything further to talk about.
A – (in his best Wesley from Princess Bride) As you wish. (he takes off)

The daughter of the Italian woman, I swear her name is Lasagna, that’s what it sounds like so that’s her name, Lasagna, calls Alejandro’s cell phone. We see the phone ringing on the ground in the forest. Miranda picks it up. He dropped it! She answers, Lasagna asks for Alejandro, and who is this? Miranda says she’s his girlfriend and he’s unavailable. Who is asking for him? Lasagna says.. “I’m his daughter.”

Whoa! He has Lasagna for a daughter!

Heridas de Amor

July 12

"Why Fabricio? Why when I have loved you so much?" So begins this episode. Miranda lamenting the loss of her relationship with Fabricio. A relationship they have had since they were children. Fabricio tells Miranda that he knows he should of told her sooner but these things you cant say by phone.....

Bertha, Renata and Florencia discuss how Miranda will react when Fabricio gives her the bad news. Florencia feels guilty. Bertha thinks nothing will happen. Renata is sassy about how Miranda would have just thrown him away just like she does everything that bores her. They agree that Florencia is really just saving the man she loves. Then Bertha lets drop this jewel of wisdom. "Real love only knocks once on your door. Fight for him! Even if it is with your own sister!"

Nuria goes to the San Llorente house, Tomasa does not recognize her. Don Gonzalo meets with her asking what she is doing there. She answers she took the first flight there to bring some plans and contracts that she saw were left in the office. Don Gonzalo says the papers are Cesars responsibility and he orders for Cesar to come to the house immediately.

Miranda tries to talk Fabrizio into changing his mind. She promises that she will wait for him to figure out his feelings. Additionally she promises she will not let another man get near her. Please dont abandon me! Don Gonzalo gives Cesar a scolding about the papers. He tells Cesar that Nuria is very efficient and he doesn't know in what moment she will take his place.....

Fabricio tells Miranda that he loves her, loves her with all his soul but dont misunderstand him ... He loves Florencia and will marry her soon. "I hope you will understand. Don't act like a child! Don't destroy our happiness!" He leaves her and Miranda starts to yell at him as he leaves. " Don't you destroy my happiness either! I am not a child! I am a woman! A woman that loves you!!!!" Then out of the blue up walks Alejandro to tell Miranda "that's how it is Miranda San Llorente. You are all woman. But not for a child like Fabricio. You are a woman for a man like me." He kisses her and she calls him stupid. They have a little spat. He says "so much scandal for a stolen kiss?" Miranda answers in a tough girl manner. Pushing her lower jaw forward to prove her rabid toughness "I dont know who you are, but listen to me well. There still is no one born who has stolen something from Miranda San Llorente." Then she kisses him long and hard. "When someone takes something from me I take it back." She walks away and he is left smiling. Wow! What a scene.

Lovely garden party for Don Gonzalos birthday party. The don is shown having a flash back to a conversation he had with Bertha as she is telling him that Florencia only has three or so more months to live. Somewhere outside Nuria is attacked by Cesar for being stupid for making him look stupid. He yells at her then starts to kiss her and then begins to rape her. .... Miranda walks about crying to Pamela. She says she has lost everything..... Cesar tells Nuria to be quiet, stop crying. She is in a heap on some hay. "For a first time that wasn't so bad eh? The next time ...." She quickly tells him there wont be a next time, for that he can be sure. He tells her that he will have her whenever he wants...

Miranda takes off on a horse. Pamela yells at her. Fabricio comes to the house to report how things went with Miranda. Florencia worries about Miranda and tells Fabricio she wont marry him. Cesar comes into the room and asks where have you been to Fabricio. Bertha sends Fabricio off. Cesar immediately picks up on Berthas good mood. She tells him that he has an open road. "Fabricio finished with Miranda." He asks her to come to an agreement to enjoy the pain of whoever she wants but not Miranda. Bertha says "No Cesar. The pain of Miranda is my main pleasure." Snicker Snicker.

Tomasa finds Nuria outside crying. Nuria says she is worth nothing. Pamela and Miranda talk next to a waterfall. Miranda says that she knows that the only one to blame for the end of the relationship is Bertha. She believes that Bertha manipulated Fabricio equally as she did Mirandas sister. Now Miranda understands why there were so many trips to Germany, so Fabricio and Florencia would get together.

Don Gonzalo, Alejandro, and Fabricio talk business with a little brandy. Don thinks Fabricio is distracted and wants to be with Miranda. He forbids Fabricio to talk of anything to do with the wedding until they return to Mexico (city).

Bertha talks with Florencia who is in her room crying. Bertha plays on Florencias insecurities telling Florencia that she once heard Miranda tell Pamela that men only want Florencias money, not her. Enraged Florencia heads down to the party. Florencia finds Fabricio and they kiss and make up. Miranda sees them. They fight. Pamela puts in her two cents.

Cesar finds Miranda as she is reeling from her fight with her sister and ex fiance. She excuses him, telling him this is not the best time to talk. He complains that she has always treated him like this.... indifferent, when he has always loved her. She says well that is because I've told you a million times that it makes me uncomfortable that you talk to me of your love! They agree to be friends and have coffee in Mexico. He leaves and Pamela walks up. Miranda admits that she likes him less and less. Ever since they were kids she has been afraid of him.

Bertha finds Nuria in the kitchen with Tomasa. Bertha sends Tomasa out and corners Nuria. Why didn't you tell me you were here? Madrina Por Favor..... "Don't call me Madrina! Don't forget our secret." No one knows I'm your god daughter (ahijada).... Bertha then tells Nuria that she raised her to be a lady and that she shouldn't have anything to do with the maid.

During the garden party Don Gonzalo tells all the men (previously mentioned) that the hacienda used to belong to his grandparents. Tabasco used to be an inhospitable place but now it is a great place and good for tourism too. Alejandro is questioned on why he wants to do business in Mexico after so many years in Europe. Alejandro says he has the capital and he believes in Mexico. He is prepared to bring money - not take it with him.

Rebecca (I believe she is the mother of Cesar and Fabricio) is given advice by Bertha. Bertha suggests that Rebecca tell who the father of her children are or forever not say a thing. Either Or. Rebecca says its best to keep quiet.

Miranda walks up to Bertha. She tells Bertha not to be condescending with her. Bertha messed with the wrong person. Bertha doesn't back down and tells Miranda to watch herself or she will create a tragedy. They agree the fight is on. The Don walks up with Alejandro and introduces him to Bertha and Miranda. Bertha recognizes Alejandros last name and asks if he is Alfredo Luque's son. He is. Miranda tries to kick him out of "her" house. Alejandro refuses saying he is an invited guest and a business partner of her father. Don Gonzalo walks up and confirms Alejandros importance. Miranda relinquished her quest to kick Alejandro out. She then asks to speak with her father in the morning about something very important and leaves.

Renata and Cesar are drinking it up together. Cesar claims he is afraid of being caught, Renata talks him into staying and they start to mess around. Renata stops it to say good bye to the guests. Cesar talks to himself saying Miranda wont accept me but Renata will pay the price for her disgust.

Don Gonzalo remembers with a little help from some brandy.... Fernanda appearing to be kissing a man (Luque?) its raining outside. Don Gonzalo confronts the two saying he has it figured it out. He slaps Fernanda, a gun goes off in the air and a woman watches from outside.

Bertha comes to chat with Gonzalo. Bertha asks "Am I still an attractive woman? Then why dont we get married?" Gonzalo: "I have told you one and a million times. I continue to be married to Fernanda and I still love her." "Then that is why you only look for me when you drink? Right? When you are drunk you remember Fernanda?" "You will never be able to look like her!"

Miranda fills Pamela in on Alejandro and his kiss, Bertha, and all her problems. Pamela wants to get Alejandros attention. Miranda says go ahead I'm only interested in Fabricio.

"If I liked another man would you care?" Bertha asks Gonzalo. He laughs. No he wouldn't care. Although he doubts that at her age anyone would be interested in her. He says "You shouldn't have asked me that you should have asked a mirror." Whoa! With that news Bertha goes into a crazy stage. She rummages through some business papers swearing that Alejandro Luque will pay the price.

Miranda wakes to find her father has left the hacienda. Bertha appears to be making a plastic surgery appointment. (A doctors appointment for sure.) A taxi arrives and Bertha tells Nuria its time for her to leave the hacienda.

Miranda and Pamela tour a medical clinic filled with people that need medical and economic help. Fernanda is seen helping patients that are waiting in the hall. Miranda lectures Pamela that they cant turn their backs on these people. They need our help. Miranda then inquires into how they can help and who should they speak with. The nurse who answers their questions introduces them to Ferna Whoops! Doctor Fernandez! The nurse looks odd as Fernanda interrupts the nurse and introduces herself as Dr. Fernandez instead. The doctor shakes Mirandas hand lovingly. (Well folks it looks like we have another case of a mother separated from her children.)

An intro to Heridas cast with goodness opinions

Cast we have met so far and their current goodness or badness as I see it:

The San Llorente family:

Gonzalo San Llorente - father - he might be good even though he's boinking his sister-in-law

daughters:
Miranda San Llorente - she's the heroine, so she should be good and she gives things to poor children but she is bitchy beyond belief right now.
Florencia San Llorente - she is probably good and has a fatal heart condition but she did steal her sister's fiance.
Renata San Llorente - she's bad right now - she only cares about herself.

Fernanda de Aragón - the mother of the three girls. She seems to be good - a doctor who helps poor people. She left Gonzalo probably because of the machinations of her sister, Bertha.
Bertha de Aragón, Fernanda's sister and what appears to be the main baddie here. She is boinking Gonzalo and pretending to like her nieces while scheming to do bad things to them.

Others:

Alejandro Luque - he's Miranda's love interest and certainly is good but he has come to Mexico to avenge the death of his father. He believes that Gonzalo killed his father.

César Beltrán - he appears to be bad. He is in league with Bertha and has the hots for Miranda. He is also Gonzalo's business associate.

Fabricio Beltrán - César's brother. He was unable to tell his fiancee that he wants to marry her sister until the wedding was all planned but he is probably good.

Pamela Altamirano is Miranda's friend who was at the airport with her.

Tomasa Aguirre is the servant who comforted Miranda when she found out Bertha was boincking her father.

Nuria Gómez is Gonzalo's secretary and is boinking Cesar.

Heridas de Amor - Premiere, July 11

Ok, here we go with our new novela. Hoping for an improvement over Barerra.
This novela takes place in the southern Mexican state of Tabasco (where the peppers come from that are used to make Tabasco sauce in Louisiana.)
We open with Miranda riding her horse to a scenic old hacienda where a group of clean, happy peasants wait for her. They are cacao gatherers. They give Miranda a gift of a rosary for her upcoming wedding. They made an identical one for her mother when she got married. Miranda is touched. She will wear it for her wedding with Fabricio.

Miranda's sister, Florencia comes out of a house and a man comes and embraces her. It is Fabricio, Miranda's fiance but we know him better as Andres from Alborada. Florenica is afraid someone will see them but Fabricio says that he doesn't care. He has to go to a business meeting in the morning but when he comes back, he will tell Miranda that he doesn't love her anymore and wants to marry Florencia.

Now we have another hunky and buff guy glistening wet and with a towel around his waist. This is Alejandro, a friend of Fabricio's from Germany. He is speaking with on the telephone with a woman named Daira who is apparently in Rome (view of Coloseum). We learn that Alejandro is here to avenge the death of his father on Gonzalo, Miranda's father. The woman suggests that he just forget about the whole vengeance thing and leave this family but he can't. He wants to get back a folder with his father's designs for some jewelry. Daira has a daughter named Lizania but there was a problem with the broadcast for a few seconds and whatever they said was lost.

Florencia is talking to Bertha, her aunt. She feels guilty about deceiving Miranda but Bertha says that she is entitled to happiness too. More problems with the broadcast. Miranda appears at the breakfast table where Bertha, Florenica and Renata, her other sister are eating. Our first memory: Miranda flashes back to a scene with her father Gonzalo who is drunk and Bertha. Miranda overhears Bertha tell Gonzalo that she doesn't just want to be his lover when he is drunk but she wants to marry him and be the mistress of the hacienda. In particular, she doesn't want to be dependant on the charity of Miranda. Comforted by another woman, probably a servant, Miranda recognizes Bertha as a hypocrite. She must have known about this without realizing it and that is why she could never stand Bertha.

Renata, Miranda's youngest sister demands to know why in this house Miranda is the "mama de los pollitos" or rules the roost, as we would say. She interferes when Renata asks for money from her father. Miranda says her sister is too extravagant and thinks money grows on trees. Miranda then turns on Florencia and berates her for establishing a school for "estimulacion temprano"(some kind of fancy preschool, I guess) for the children of her rich friends but they haven't paid the fees so it is losing money. Florencia and Renata leave. Then Miranda turns on Bertha and says that she always told Miranda and her sisters that their mother was a loose woman who ran off with some man when all the time Bertha was having an affair with their father. Having spread her sunshine around, Miranda leaves and Bertha says that Miranda is so much like her mother, Fernanda and for that reason Bertha hates her.

We now see Fernanda. She is a doctor and her clinic for poor people is going to be torn down to build a luxury hotel. Fernanda believes that her husband must be behind this.

Fabricio tells Alejandro about the Miranda/Florencia problem. Alejandro is surprised that he has let the wedding preparations get this far.

Gonzalo is in his office in Mexico City with his right hand man, Cesar. (Gonzalo has an incredibly deep voice!) Somebody named Julio has screwed up and Gonzalo says he his days at the company are numbered and he will name Cesar as president. It appears that Gonzalo is planning to build luxury hotels in Mexico in partnership with Alejandro. Gonzalo's secrectary, Nuria, is in love with Cesar. He kisses her and bites her lower lip. Weird!

At the airport, Alejandro tells Fabricio that he has screwed up things big time with the Miranda/Florencia thing. Alejandro confesses that he himself has never been in love but if he had, he wouldn't let things get in a mess like Fabricio. The friends part to conduct their business deal.

It appears that Miranda is at the airport supervising shipments of something. She narrowly misses being hit by the vehicle that Alejandro is in. Their eyes meet, there is music - and then she chews him out for not looking out for pedestrians. He apologizes but she won't and she thinks he is arrogant.

Scenes of Miranda giving things to poor school children contrast with Alejandro and Fabricio in the helicopter and the oil fields in Tabasco. Alejandro presses his associates to conclude the hotel deal.

Miranda is directing the preparations for a big party for Gonzalo's birthday. Cesar tells his brother, Fabricio, that he wants in on Fabricio's business deals. While Fabricio was gadding about in Europe, Cesar has been under Gonzalo's thumb and now he wants a share of the pie.

Cesar has a conversation with Bertha. It appears that they were lovers when he was a teenager. Cesar, however, loves Miranda. Bertha tells him that Fabricio is going to dump Miranda and that would be a perfect time to get her on the rebound. Bertha then reminds Fabrizio that the has apparently promised to dump Miranda and warns him not to back out.

Meanwhile, Florencia sneaks into Miranda's bedroom and uses her hairbrush. She is racked with guilt for betraying her sister. Renata comes in and tries to buck her up. The already tiresome Florencia then convinces herself that Fabricio only feels pity for her, not love since she is sick.

Alejandro tells someone on the phone that he believes Gonzalo will invest in the hotel deal but meanwhile he is drawing a portrait of Miranda. He tells himself that he is here for vengeance not to fall for some unknown woman.

Bertha tells Gonzalo that the doctor told her that Florencia's heart condition has worsened and she only has a few months to live. Gonzalo says that Florencia should have whatever she wants and nobody must know about her short life expectancy. He tells Bertha that 18 years ago she told him something that broke his heart (presumably about his wife) and now what she had told him about Florencia has destroyed his soul.

Alejandro, Fabricio and his mother arrive at the party. Fabricio goes off with his mother leaving Alejandro alone. Miranda recognizes the man from the airport. First, they exchange stupid grins but then Miranda reverts to bitchiness and is going to accuse Alejandro of being party crasher. She is waylaid on her way to confront Alejandro by Fabricio. Seeing this, Alejandro now knows who the woman he encountered in the airport is. Fabricio takes Miranda to a secluded place and tells her he doesn't want to marry her - he wants to marry her sister, Florencia.

End of the first episode. It seems promising. At least all the characters are good looking.

Heridas De Amor

My wife is jumping ship on La Fea and is going to watch Heridas De Amor. Combined with me now being more than TWO weeks behind in watching La Fea and probably SIX weeks behind in recapping it, I think the La Fea ship is sinking. I love doing it but I can't work it into my schedule. What I would like to do is take one day a week of the new show but Thursdays, which are available, aren't good. Anyone want to trade for Monday, Wednesday, or Friday?

Barrera Friday, June 7

Things are a little crowded in the apartment where Victor, Maite, Veronica, Jaracanda and now Valeria are staying. Of course, Andres is there too kissing Valeria and saying that no one will ever separate them. All this interest by Victor and Maite in Valeria is starting to make Veronica jealous. She turns into Vera and flounces into the room where Valeria and Andres are embracing on the sofa. Maite and Victor come in and Andres announces that he is going to marry Valeria as soon as possible but first he wants to introduce his intended to his parents. Vera –nica stomps out of the room and Jacaranda tells Maite and Victor that she will go help her.

Entering the room, Jacaranda addresses Vera and says that she knows her secret and won’t tell. Vera says that she doesn’t like Valeria and Jacaranda agrees that Valeria is a goody-goody and Vera ought to have the big house, clothes, money etc. that Valeria has. When Veronica tells Jacaranda how she stole Valeria’s credit card when they were in Canada, Jacaranda continues her psychological experiment and says that such an act might bring the police. “The police?” says Vera-nica. “Yes, the police, like on your birthday,” and prang, Veronica the scared rabbit is back saying, “Where are my parents?”

Manola and Federico have a post coital conversation. Federico says that he loved her a lot, once. Manola asks why he is using the past tense. Didn’t she just prove that their passion for one another continues. Federico says that they still have passion but his love for her died when she rejected him twice – first for Adolfo and then for Gustavo. He suggests that they make a truce. Gustavo can stay here in this house without any rehabilitation but Manola cannot do any harm to him. She agrees and he leaves. Alone (except for the sleeping Gustavo), she says that Federico doesn’t know about his parentage. He’s been a great lover but since he is a Valladolid, she’s got to convert their relationship into something more.

Valeria seeks comfort in Maite’s arms and Maite is able to treat her like a daughter. After Valeria goes to bed, Maite and Victor celebrate the fact that Maite has recovered her daughter and swear that she will not lose her again.

Andres tells Unibrow and Nutria that he will bring Valeria over the next day.

Manola rushes home to tell her father about her discovery of Federico’s parentage. He is gobsmacked. They rehash the whole story and now Jacinta’s attitude to Federico now makes sense. Nicolas asks Manola what her plan is and she says that she will pretend that she is in love with Federico so that she can be the wife of the heir to half the Valladolid fortune.

Jacaranda and Dr. Carlos rehash the whole Vera/Veronica dual personality thing. Then the doctor leaves for his appointment with Manola. Manola wants Dr. Carlos to tell her the whole Veronica story and when he declines, she offers him a bribe. He obligingly rehashes the whole story again. The only new fact is that Manola learns that Federico encountered Vera in Canada and probably didn’t realize it was Veronica (the blond wig). Manola pays Dr. Carlos some more money not to tell anyone else about Veronica’s condition. The doctor asks why she is so interested in this case and Manola says that she thinks she can use it to her advantage.

Valeria approaches Unibrow and Nutria without Andres. Unibrow recognizes her from the stuck elevator incident. Andres appears and introduces her (without using her last name) as his novia. They are all happy. Maite decides to go to the church and Jacaranda is going to do some shopping. Jacaranda meets Andres and Valeria and they say it is too bad that because Maite is not around, they can’t introduce her to Andres’ parents.

Jacinta is sulking. Federico tells her that he is sure that Valeria will return to her side. Jacinta says that Valeria is an ingrate. Jacinta says that Valeria is not the first person to disappoint her but that doesn’t include you, Federico. Jacinta says that she is afraid that Valeria will find out that Maite is her mother and she will have to use the arrested-for-prostitution weapon.

Ghastly scene where Remedios charms the children in the school run by the nuns by telling them a story.

Unibrow asks Valeria what she was doing in the vineyard when they ran into her and she says that she lives nearby. He says, “I hope you don’t have anything to do with the Valladolid family.” Everyone else at the table knows who she is and they all choke on their food or look the other way. [Why doesn’t Unibrow say, “What is your last name?]

One of the gossipy ladies (wearing little lavender mitts for God’s sake and a giant orange flower in her hair) helps Sergio understand Maite’s history with Jacinta. No new information is disclosed.

Boring scene concerning Andres’ mother’s day gift for Nutria at the end of which, Valeria wishes she had a mother to give a gift to.

Equally boring scenes in the plaza in front of the church where Maite remembers Unibrow giving her flowers in the plaza. She still loves him as though it happened yesterday.

Federico gives Baldo a dressing down. He accuses him of daring to have opinions about the Valladolid family and threatens that he too can join his father in being fired from the hacienda.

A bunch of ladies from the pueblo commiserate with Jacinta, who is pretending to be a pitiful, deceived grandmother, about the Maite/Valeria situation. They are convinced that Maite is manipulating Valeria to get her back.

In church, Maite thanks God for giving Valeria back to her. She doesn’t even need to tell Valeria that she is her mother as long as she can have Valeria with her.

Federico and Rodrigo are congratulating themselves on their new ventures with Gustavo’s business. Omar is not joining in and even expresses doubts about the deals. Federico tells him off and Rodrigo backs him up.

In a bar, Jacaranda and Dr. Carlos discuss his appointment with Manola. Apparently, Dr. Carlos signed the death certificate for Magdalena indicating that this was a natural death and was paid off by Jacaranda. Dr. Carlos thinks that Manola will use the information against Maite.

That was about it.

How Unibrow got his gig?

Our reader Alma reports:

"My mom, who I sometimes watch this with, shed some light about how Unibrow managed to get this headlining gig (does it count as headlining if he only gets 20 seconds of screentime?). Apparantly Unibrow is the president of the Mexican actors' union. Aha!

Some other interesting tidbits from mom: His father and brother are also actors, but Unibrow is the looker in the family... Eeeewh!"
