La Fea Más Bella #116 10/3/06 A Drunk, a Voyeur, a Waitress and a Big Fat Liar!

Okay, so Lety and Gerardo hug. Erasmo drunkenly pulls Lety away. He asks what Lety is doing with that man. She tries to explain that Gerardo is the photographer and they were talking about…, but Erasmo interrupts and asks why this would result in a hug. He says that decent women don’t hug in public. Lety tells him it was just a friendly hug. “Are you going out with him?” “Of course not, Daddy! How much did you drink with the golfers?” Erasmo tells her not to change the subject. She gets short with him, says that Gerardo is just a work colleague and says she has a lot of work and he’s drunk. She tells him that she loves him. Erasmo hangs the head. The world still spins for Erasmo, even the trees are moving.

Lety goes to the bathroom and wets her hair. Alicia does her best impression of a jack-in-the-box. Alicia says has to insult Lety; out loud, of course. Lety looks around, but decides she must not have heard anything. She laments all the works she has to do.

Fernando finds Erasmo and asks him how much he’s had to drink. Fernando tries to count Erasmo’s fingers, but stops him at twenty. Erasmo speaks and Fernando has to waive the air to breath. Erasmo points out to Fernando that he is very moderate with alcohol. Uh-huh. Erasmo says he needs to speak with Fernando. Fernando thinks he’s going to hear the story of Lazaro again. Erasmo says it’s something else; he’s worried about Lety. Fernando wants to know why. Erasmo thinks that she’s doing something bad. Fernando remembers his day dream in the tent and said that this is impossible. She’s Erasmo’s daughter and is just like him. Erasmo says yes, she’s like me, but there are many immoral men out there. Fernando sets Erasmo on the rail. Erasmo says that Lety is acting suspicious with Gerardo. Erasmo changes subjects asks if Fernando knows Tomas Mora. Fernando says of course, he’s Lety’s best friend ever since they were kids. Erasmo says that Tomas usually helps with Lety and that he’s here with Erasmo in the club but he’s disappeared. Fernando can not believe that Tomas is in the club. Erasmo asks Fernando, as Lety’s boss, to help take care of Lety, she’s so innocent. Fernando can’t believe that Erasmo wants his help. Erasmo starts to tell a story about Lety from her youth. Fernando is enthralled.

Tomas hides from the cuartel. He runs into the men’s room and Sara tries to follow him in, but Lola holds her back. Lety runs out of the women’s room and asks what is wrong. Sara and Lola tell her that the voyeur has returned and is spying on more women. They tell her that he went into the men’s room. She gets upset and storms into the men’s restroom with Sara and Lola following. Alicia waits until everyone disperses and runs away. Lola, Lety and Sara look in the men’s restroom. They keep hearing sounds to indicate someone is in the room, but they can’t find anyone. Finally, they get to the last stall. They knock on the door. Tomas crawls over the top and runs out the door. The girls enter the next stall; stand on the toilet and look over. They’re surprised that no one is in the last stall. The fat golfer enters the bathroom. He freaks about going into the wrong bathroom and then excuses himself. He comes back in and says, no, he’s in the right bathroom; it says gentlemen above the door. The girls excuse themselves and run out of the door. Did anyone else notice that there is community toilet paper on the outside of one of the stalls?

Outside of the clubhouse, Lety says they should go to the president of the club to have the voyeur expelled. Sara says she’s in charge of security at the club and she’ll take care of it. Lola tells Lety that Sara will get the contracted security to help. Lety tells them to take charge of the problem, she’s got other things to do.

Erasmo and Fernando continue to talk. Erasmo gets in a fight with someone. Erasmo talks about how some guy used to bring her flowers and other lies. He’s made because Julieta convinced him to give this youth an opportunity. Erasmo tells the story of the aftermath of the infamous “bet” from his perspective. He felt so useless; he didn’t know how to help her. Fernando says he understands. He feels the same helpless too. He remembers the night Lety told him about the bet and how it almost killed her. Fernando tells Erasmo that he (Fernando) does have to take care Lety. Erasmo gives him a hug and says he knows that Fernando will care for her. Fernando says how could one not want to care for an enchanter like Lety. Fernando volunteers to take Erasmo to Tomas. Erasmo says they’re not there to take care of Tomas; they need to take care of the cameraman. Fernando should go back to the commercial. Erasmo gives Fernando another hug and calls him Don Fera.

Lety and Julieta talk about Erasmo’s overreaction to Lety hugging Gerardo. Lety tells her it was just a friendly hug. Julieta asks if maybe there’s something going on between Lety and Gerardo. Lety protests. In the background Julieta serves food to the technicians. Erasmo and Fernando enter the tent. Erasmo points out Gerardo to Fernando as the guy he was talking about earlier. Fernando calls Lety over to him. Meanwhile, the technicians talk about the food.

Lety sits outside the trailer while Fernando paces angrily. Lety tells Fernando that he needs to tell her what is wrong. Fernando asks Lety why she brought him. “Me??” She doesn’t realize that he’s talking about Tomas. He says he doesn’t even know him; how could she bring him to the location – Tomas Mora. Lety tells Fernando that she thought he was talking about Gerardo. For a moment Fernando thinks he has another rival, but Lety reminds him that Gerardo is the cameraman. Fernando asks Lety again why she brought Tomas. Lety assures him that her father must have been mistaken. Lety very clearly told Tomas not to come to the location. Fernando and Lety decide to discuss this some more later, right now they need to worry about Pilar and Lightening. The moment of truth has arrived! Alicia and Tomas spy!

Juana comes over and tells Julieta that the chilaquiles were a hit. Erasmo tells Juana that the mole is even better. Martha walks over to the technicians table with two plates.

Lety takes some chilaquiles to Pilar. Pilar doesn’t know what they are. Lety can’t believe she’s never had them. Pilar thinks their delicacies. Fernando pats the make-up guys shoulder. He likes it. (Who wouldn’t?) The moment of truth has arrived; Pilar has to get onto the horse. Fernando: “The horse that you have to mount is, is, is…” Lety: “… very pretty!” They talk about the horse a little more. You don’t know with horses, how they’re going to react and if they’re going to obey. Fernando slips and says that the horse is named Lightening. Pilar says this makes her even more nervous. Fernando says he’s called Lightening because he’s very luminous. Pilar says he’s making her more nervous. Fernando tries to calm her and says that she just needs to get to know the horse. Let’s go! Pilar crosses herself, receives some reassurance from Irmita and walks outside of her trailer.

Fernando and Lety tells Lety that the best case scenario will be them canceling the filming. Lety says no it will all turn out well. The make-up guy lustily watches Fernando leave. They exit the trailer and walk over with Pilar to Lightning’s corral. Alicia and Tomas follow.

Sara frantically tells Rodolfo about the voyeur. Lola says it’s no use. They guess that an intrusion like this is not grave enough to require his services. Sara goes back over to him and lies that the voyeur has a gun and intends to assassinate the model. PM and Saimon walk into the scene with food; they just guessed that Sara would be with Rodolfo. They give the plates to Sara and Rodolfo. Rodolfo speaks! It’s time for his lunch!

Fernando leads Pilar over to Lightening. She looks petrified. He shows Pilar the nice calm white horse. The cowboy says he’ll go get the horse. She asks if the horse is big. Fernando and Lety try to work around the question. “Big compared to what?” “Big compared to another horse!” Fernando says he’s big compared to a pony or an Arabian. During this conversation, out comes Lightening, and he is not a friendly horse. Pilar says she’s not get on that horse!. Alicia watches and whispers that Lightening will not fail her. All of a sudden, Lightening is calm. The cowboy says he has an idea how to help Pilar get over her fear. Alicia does not want this to happen.

Erasmo comes over to Gerardo and says that his camera is very interesting. Erasmo tries to introduce himself but Gerardo just walks away. Erasmo asks Gerardo if he’s seriously interested in getting married. (Never mind that Gerardo is actually wearing a wedding band; guess the wardrobe people missed that one) Gerardo says that he would rather live with his girlfriend first, he’s not sure that he believes in marriage. Erasmo says Gerardo doesn’t understand he’s Lety’s father. Gerardo says congratulations. Erasmo tells Gerardo to pay attention. Gerardo wipes his nose because of the smell of Erasmo’s breath. Erasmo forbids him to even look at his daughter. Julieta interrupts and takes Erasmo away. Julieta apologizes for her husband’s mistake. Erasmo tries to tell Julieta that this guy is playing games with Lety.

The cowboy sets up a mechanical bull. Fernando tries to convince Pilar to get on the bull. He falls over in the corral but eventually gets her on the bull. He has Lety start it. At first the bull just spins and Pilar is happy. Pilar calls Fernando Pavel and Lety asks if she can speed the bull up (through gritted teeth). Fernando says no, and that they have to leave for a moment. Fernando and Lety talk about Pilar’s obsession with Pavel. Fernando asks if Lety thinks that Pilar is cured of her fear of horses. Lety says she doesn’t really think so. While they’re talking Alicia sneaks over to the controls and turns them up. Pilar screams and falls off the bull. Alicia isn’t so subtle this time, and Fernando discovers her. He basically throws Lety in the ring to help Pilar, who clutches her terrified. Pilar stalks over to Fernando and Alicia. They all yell at Alicia about what she did with the bull. Tomas hides in the background and says that he needs to help Alicia. Ooops! He’s discovered too! Lety excuses herself and runs after him. Fernando accuses Alicia of trying to sabotage the commercial. Alicia says no, of course not. There is only one model for this commercial. She pets Pilar’s hair to signal that she’s the model. Pilar whips her head around and says that no, she will not get on the horse! (Oh great, back to this. I’m glad that we’ve made some progress.)

Tomas runs away from Lety, but he doesn’t succeed. Lety tells him to come over to her. Lety says she doesn’t’ need to ask him why he’s here. It’s obvious. She’s piiiisssseeed! Fernando starts to point out that he’s her best friend in the whole world ever since they were young, then he asks for pardon. Lety asks if anyone has seen him. He says only her father, and he told Fernando that he is there. “Of course he would tell Don Fernando!” Lety asks if anyone else has seen him. He says the cuartel. They share a laugh over the fact that he’s the famous voyeur. Lety tells Tomas to leave and to go back to the house. He’s not going to see the horse or the underwear! Tomas sulks.

Fernando pulls Alicia away from Pilar. He tells her to leave. Alicia decides the best thing to do is to make fun of Lety. This, of course, backfires. Alicia stalks off. Pilar haughtily tells Fernando and Lety that she’s not going to get on the horse, Pavel. Fernando and Lety imitate her, and then Fernando gets an idea. It has something to do with Pavel. He tells Lety to advise the technicians to have the cameras ready to film immediately. He runs off after Pilar.

Erasmo complains about Gerardo. Julieta says they’re just work buddies. Erasmo says he shouldn’t be here. Julieta agrees, it would have been better if he had stayed home. She asks Julieta to leave Lety alone. Erasmo walks off; Julieta tells him not to go and then chases after him.

Tomas exits from the front of the club. The security guy asks what could possibly be so bad. Tomas shows the security guard the picture of his “girlfriend.” The security guard says he has a picture of that girl too. Tomas freaks. The security guard tells him to call down; it’s just a picture so he can identify her when she tries to enter the club and he can stop her. Tomas grabs the security guards newspaper and leaves. In the street he does a weird hitchhiking move.

Lety goes over to Gerardo and asks if he’s ready. Gerardo says that he is. Lety gives him a high five and then wiggles her way out of the scene.

Erasmo is in a pine tree looking for Lety. He spies on Pilar and Fernando talking about she’s not going to get on the horse. Fernando asks her if she’ll get on for him. Huh? “For you?” In the office he couldn’t stop thinking about his past. He does have a double life! In part of his life he’s Fernando, in the other he’s Pavel. (Notice he says the last name wrong) Pilar wants a kiss, but Fernando gives her a hug. She wants to know why he changed to Fernando Mendiola. He says it’s a long story… but won’t she get on the horse for him. It’s a very important commercial for him.

Commercial! I run off to my kitchen to grab a bottle of water laughing about all the possible reactions Lety might have when she finds out what is Fernando’s great idea.

And we’re back! Sara has placed flowers all over Rodolfo. She calls him her love and the cuartel laughs at her. It’s just not worth it, Lola tells her. Sara turns to Rodolfo and says that she’s going to love him unconditionally. They hear a horse whinny. A girl is not so skillfully riding a horse in the field. The cuartel laughs at the girl and her horse. Rodolfo finally moves by hiding behind Sara. Who was the girl riding the horse? Alicia Ferreira???!!! She asks the cuartel if they want another demonstration; during her six semesters of finance she took a concentrated equestrian course. She asks Lightening to help her, but seems a little scared of Lightening. She decides to leave and asks the stable boy to remove the horse from her presence. The cowboy comes over and takes the horse away. He’s worried that something could of happened. Alicia tells him not to worry because she’s a total expert.

The cowboy grooms the horse. He says to Lety that the horse is really nervous after what has happened. The waitress took him! The cowboy tells her that Alicia wanted to demonstrate to don Fernando that she could be the model in the commercial.

The security guard chases after Alicia and tells her that the help can’t go through that entrance. She yells at him and runs to the street. He tells her to have a nice day. Alicia stands in front a cemetery trying to hitch hike a ride home. Her methods don’t work very well.

Sara cries because she’s been deceived. Rodolfo isn’t the love of her life. Saimon, Lola and PM try to placate her. Saimon says maybe Rodolfo is foreign and doesn’t speak Spanish. PM asks to stop talking and to put his lips to a better use. Sara calls Rodolfo some names and says that she could never be with a man like that. PM says that there is a perfect man for Sara out there. Sara asks PM to present her with this man.

Fernando tells Irmita that Pilar is going to get on the horse. Irmita asks how he got her to do that. Fernando tells Irmita not to ask him; the answer will not have good consequences. He walks over to Gerardo and tells him that he has only one opportunity to get the shot. Just one take! Gerardo doesn’t look so sure.

Julieta stirs and smells her mole. Erasmo comes into the scene and demands they leave at that moment. Julieta wants to know why; no one has eaten the mole. Because of Don Fernando, he’s immoral. Lety overhears this and runs into the scene. Erasmo says that she can’t work for Fernando anymore. Lety wants to know why. Because Fernando lives an immoral life!

Will Erasmo force Lety to quit her job at Conceptos?
How will Lety react to Fernando's latest scheme?
What's Fernando going to do when Pilar wants a kiss...right in front of Lety?

just to introduce myself

As a new member of the summary recap committee, I thought I would introduce myself before "Mundo de Fieras" starts.

My Biography in brief:
Name: Jody Renee
Nickname: J.R.
Horoscope: Libra; Sheep/Goat
Hometown: West Des Moines, Iowa, U.S.A.
Hobbies: fishing, boating (I have my own motorboat), geneology, history, photography
Favorite food: mexican and italian
Favorite colors: pink and purple
Heroes: my parents
Occupation: I was a production assistant/grip/gaffer but currently I am an unpaid assistant with the Iowa Jewish Historical Museum here in central Iowa.
Telenovelas I've seen: I have seen just about all the telenovelas Fernando Colunga has done so far in his career. I have sat through and actually done summary recaps for his three historicals (Alondra, AR and Alborada) and the last episodes for two of his other ones (La Ursurpadora and Esmeralda). Alborada was the first novela that I did without translating to spanish before posting - which saved me a lot of time and craziness - so now I am looking forward to the challenge of summarizing the episodes of a non-Colunga novela for the first time. (I did the spanish recaps for Fernandos' forum on univision.com; the Alborada recaps were for the Yahoo group alboradafan.)

See ya' - I'll try to post my summary as soon as I can, although I don't type as fast as I used to.

HERIDAS DE AMOR - Monday, 10/02/06

Cesar invites Miranda to the movies, but she says she and Alejandro have agreed to meet a bit later on so she isn’t really able. Alejandro is supposed to call her to discuss their plans. Cesar so “nobly” and lovingly, lowering his voice and caressing her cheek, suggests that the three of them can all go together as great friends. He coos to her in that aggravating tone of voice , “Lets go enjoy ourselves.” Just at that instant Alejandro arrives and jealously rages, “Let go of her, Cesar!” “Wipe that idiotic smile off your face, too!” Miranda looks perturbed at the both of them, but mainly at Alejandro.

Cesar says he wants to bury the hatchet. Alejandro doesn’t buy it, and so Miranda patiently explains to Alejandro in her best Nurse Fletcher voice that Cesar is a pleasant man and only wants to get along with them now. He should make an effort also. Alejandro asks Cesar just when did he have such a change of heart. Cesar uses his “reasonable man” tone and condescendingly explains that she and he practically grew up together, so even though Alejandro and she might be an item, he can never demand that the both of them, childhood friends, never speak to one another again. They never have been apart from each other, and they never will be. Besides, Miranda has asked him to make peace with Alejandro and he simply is complying. Miranda then speaks to Alejandro in her “reasonable lady” voice and asks, “Couldn’t you make an effort also?” Cesar turns away and he is grinning from ear to ear.

Alejandro is apoplectic now and refuses, like any self-respecting 30-something male would do. Cesar continues in that (infuriatingly) ultra-calm tone telling Miranda (as if Alejandro weren’t even there) that since Alejandro clearly isn’t about to do his part he’ll just go and they’ll forget the whole thing. Alejandro takes Miranda to the side and insists she has to be kidding about this, but Miranda has turned into this priggish school-marm type with rose-colored granny glasses. She stubbornly walks off leaving Alejandro with his jaw hanging down to the ground. Alejandro follows Cesar back to his SUV and pulls up in the porche, gets out, and asks Cesar just what kind of game he’s playing. Cesar says he’s only doing what Miranda has asked and Alejandro better play along, too. Then Alejandro tells him to understand something: Miranda is attracted to him, not to Cesar, because Cesar just doesn’t have that special spark to light Miranda’s fire and so he has a long way to go to ever catch up to Alejandro. Alejandro peels off. Cesar calls up baby-sister Lizania and tells her he needs her so much “tanto, tanto, tanto”, and he wants her to spend the night at his apartment. She says sure thing!

At the church Father Santiago warns Bertha not to even think of killing him because he has proof that she killed Tomasa and it will be given to the proper people if she causes anything bad to happen to him. She can’t hurt him now. Bertha disagrees and threatens him with letting his superiors know about how wealthy he’s gotten with that bank account of his if he doesn’t get Alejandro to stop nosing around about that very same account. He orders her to leave but she smiles like the Cheshire cat and refuses. “Mmmm, not yet, father! I’ve come to make confession!” Santiago is left afterward praying for forgiveness and half-crazy because of all the evil things she’s told him that he now is powerless to tell or warn any of the others about.

Renata cries and swears that if it’s the last thing she ever does she’ll make Veronica pay for what she just did. Well, Veronica is waiting for Bertha when she returns to the mansion and tells her about Renata’s wedding, and all the rest and they have a big laugh about the family she just married into.

Juan returns finally and sees the house is cleaned up, but he still acts angry. He goes into the kitchen and picks up a glass that’s still dirty and throws it into the sink telling Renata that they’re poor but they are not dirty and his family doesn’t drink out of dirty glasses. He tells her that from now on their marriage is just a sham until she tires of it or he gets the will. In front of the others they’ll be the perfect couple, but alone she’s not to say a word to him. He sends her to her room and says he’s not going to join her. Renata cries and walks off. Juan is also crying (and probably wondering what the heck he was thinking when he proposed to her, ‘cause I know I certainly was).

Vicente and Gonzalo determine to get the files on the London trading house Cesar did business with to see what clues might show up, because the files he’s looked through so far are clean. They’re certain something has been masked over and they are going to find it.

Pamela comes to visit Miranda at the city house and tells her that she won’t like what she has to tell her, but Luciano bought Cesar’s ranch, La Quinta, from him. Miranda complains about how jealous a man Alejandro seems to be and she just can’t put up with it. She actually wonders if she provoked the fight that afternoon. (Do ya think?)

Alejandro complains to Daira about Cesar, Miranda, and now Bertha. Daira hopes that at best she has only found the designs and not the other notarized documents. There won’t be anything to inherit if she gets her hands on those. He tells Daira that he’s ready to pay whatever price she asks to get his father’s property back. He’s determined not to let Bertha steal everything of his father’s life work and accumulated wealth . Daira asks Alejandro if he realizes that it’s not money she wants from him but marriage! She asks him if he’s ready to pay that high a price.

Luciano goes to see Alejandro and tells him he is ready to seal the deal for Julio’s shares of stock in the San Llorente Company. Alejandro tells him to put it all in Miranda’s name and that will give her the majority and control of the family business again. He asks Luciano what he thinks really about Pamela and how they’re getting along. Luciano admits he loves her but he also loves the girl he met at Cesar’s the other night. Alejandro laughs and says he doesn’t understand loving more than one woman. He himself is a one-woman man. Luciano apparently doesn’t want any ties. Right then Bertha calls Alejandro to come see her at the mansion.

Fernanda is hoping she’ll find a way to get close to Renata now that she’s married Juan. Carola comes in crying and saying she can’t stand Renata because she’s stolen Juan away from her. Fernanda tries to remind Carola that Juan never gave her any reason to think he’d fall in love with her. She doesn’t care. She’s made up her mind to get a good job, more respectable clothes and to enter college. She wants Fernanda to teach her to be a proper lady and Fernanda agrees and also says she’ll check into any scholarship possibilities for Carola. Carola starts for the door and says once she’s educated and ready to, she’s coming back to fight for Juan’s love and to snatch him away from that girl.

Renata is in the bedroom counting the cash her Tia Bertha gave her and wondering what to spend it on since she forgot to even pack a suitcase with her things. Amparo comes in to offer to cook supper but Renata is cool and says no thanks and wonders where Juan is. Amparo tries to explain he went to the hospital on an emergency and asks her to call her Mama Amparito like the others do, but Renata refuses point blank. Juan comes in and senses they’ve been arguing, but Amparo covers for Renata and she plays along. After Amparo leaves he warns Renata that if she does anything to make Amparo shed a single tear he’ll come down on her like a ton of bricks. Amparo hears this outside their closed door in the hallway and smiles. Inside Renata reminds Juan that her father still doesn’t know she married him, and after all he’s Florencia’s doctor. When is he going to face up to her father about what they’ve gone and done? He agrees to call him from the hospital and ask him to let them come the next day to discuss it all. He leaves saying he doesn’t want a single complaint from her. (Is he supposed to replace the strict father-figure she never had or just a budding male chauvinist? I keep thinking about the old saw “what women will do for love.”)

Gonzalo goes to see Fernanda at her home. He demands to know who Florencia’s real father was, and if it was the man he found her with that night. She tries to explain how frightened she was of losing Gonzalo and admits she had no idea til their honeymoon and that for the first few months she really thought hard about leaving him. Then when she told Gonzalo she was pregnant, he was so happy she couldn’t destroy it all for him. She tells him she left their daughters with the best man to be their father and he earned her respect. He says she made a mockery of him for 6 years after and because of her he has no daughters now. Miranda is her ally, Renata despises him and Florencia is the other man’s daughter. Of course he blames her for everything bad that happened from that night on and stomps out. Fernanda says nothing to this because it’s obvious that she does blame herself somehow.

Miranda orders Bertha to either get rid of the dog or leave herself and take it with her. Bertha refuses and tells her she’s not going to order her around. Then Bertha brings up Miranda’s reconciliation with her mother. She claims Fernanda hasn’t changed and still continues to direct everything as it suits her. Bertha says that her mother has always felt cheated but Fernanda is actually a liar. She deceived everybody. Bertha tells Miranda she has to tell her something that will change her life forever: Florencia isn’t Gonzalo’s daughter. Miranda is shocked and angry and accuses Bertha of lying. Bertha notices Alejandro standing now behind Miranda and thanks him for coming when she called him and gives him a sweet peck on the cheek. He’s frowning. Miranda is disgusted with this scene and the news and walks off angry at both of them.

Alejandro asks Bertha why she would do a thing like that to Miranda, but Bertha just laughs it off and says she’ll get used to the news soon enough and will get over it. Anyway, she asks him who told him about Florencia, was it Fernanda or Alfredo? He ignores this and asks why she sent for him and she says to discuss the portafolio, of course. He's upset and tells her to hurry it up and tell him what she’s asking in return for it. He will pay her any amount she asks. She chuckles again and tries to look sexy. She raises her middle-aged eyebrows along with her glass of brandy and explains: “I don’t want money. I want you!”

Barrera de Amor: Grand Finale! October 2, 2006

The supposedly dead Gustavo wheels himself into the church and says he will testify for Maite.

Nicolas sinks to his knees muttering: "I told you he would come back from the dead to get vengeance..."

Nicolas and Manola try to slip out but Gustavo continues: "You thought I was dead, but no." To the assembled church-goers: "My wife threw me off the balcony and later hid me in an abandoned building, telling everyone I was in a clinic in the U.S. Poor Omar helped me with my recovery, and helped me escape, and then YOU AND NICOLAS KILLED HIM!"

Rodrigo: "And then, Mom, you had me thrown in jail for your own crime!"

Remedios: "They are not the only assassins. You, Jacinta, caused your husband's death and THIS BRACELET IS PROOF!" [Huh.]

Jacinta: "A lie!"

Veronica: "It's no lie, I heard you confess when you were praying." (Others pipe up in support.)

Maite trots out her story and her proof (Aunt Griselda's letter).

Valeria trots out HER story (that Jacinta and Manola separated her from Andres) and Rodrigo supports her, apologizing again for his participation.

Jacinta: "It's all lies and blasphemy!" "No, Jacinta, YOU are the liar!"

Federico shows up and asks what's going on here.

Gustavo: "Federico, I'm glad you showed up. Jacinta will be surprised to find out that you killed her son Adolfo. You thought I was in a coma and not listening when you confessed to killing him and then simulating an 'accident'..."

"Federico will betray anyone," pipes up Unibrow. "He's signed over the ownership of the hacienda to me -- and therefore you, Jacinta, have to leave this very night!"

Federico has had enough of this cozy chat. He grabs Juanita and holds a gun to her head as Manola steals Pedrito out of Valeria's arms. They dash outside, where there are lots of cop cars. Federico hurls Juanita away and grabs the baby from Manola, pointing the gun at his little defenseless head. "Make the cops leave!"

Remedio begs him to give the baby back. "You, mom, were the first to betray me! You deprived me of a lifetime as a Valladolid and told me your mediocre husband, Octavio, was my father."

Rodrigo begs: "Father, please give the child back." Federico scoffs at him too.

There is a general stampede out of the church. In the quiet, the Padre tells Jacinta to leave! Get out of his church! and repent. She can't believe her ears. The gossipy ladies (what an excellent night to come to church) sneer: "Hypocrite! Liar! Bad person!" as she and Cleo stagger past.

At home Jacinta tells Cleo, in front of her husband's picture: "The Valladolid lands are mine, mine, they will belong to noone else. I'm going to pray for them (the pictures I think). Cleo, take them down and put them in my room. The dead will accompany me, I will pray for them."

Manola is driving, Federico tells her to head for the convent. They use the tunnel to get back into the hacienda (Manola: "This looks like the entrance to hell") to steal jewels and money for a good getaway.

Manola leaves the baby on the sofa. Federico is cleaning out the safe when Jacinta bursts in with her rifle and asks indignant rhetorical questions like, "How could you kill my son?"

Federico: "Adolfo was mediocre, useless, he deserved to die like a dog." "You will putrify in hell." "If hell exists, it's within these walls, in this evil house, and you're going to end up in an insane asylum." "I'm not crazy, I'm an instrument of God. I'm going to be in paradise, enjoying the presence of El Señor for all eternity." "Uh, no, you're completely crazy."

Manola adds: "Doña Jacinta, some exemplar of rectitude you are - a twisted, demented assassin!" Jacinta's retort: "Divine fury will be unleashed upon you!"

Federico gets the last word: "See you in hell, Jacinta. Let's go, Manola." After they're gone, Jacinta expresses a frisson of self-doubt. "Me? Oh, not me... ?"

Cleo plucks Pedrito off the sofa and shows him to Jacinta. "Give him to me. He's a Valladolid and I will take charge of his salvation and purification."

The good guys figured out Bonny and Clyde used the secret tunnel and all burst into the hacienda. Luis Antonio sticks a gun in Federico's face. Federico implies Pedrito will die if Unibrow uses the gun and somehow - while my attention flagged - Federico ended up with the gun but he left Unibrow alive and then left. That was a useless scene.

Did Cleo set up that big circle of candles on Jacinta's bedroom floor or did Jacinta do it herself? With all the Valladolid portraits propped along the walls?

Jacinta steps into the circle with Pedrito, declaiming: "Nobody's gonna take us out of here." Her dead husband's portrait starts talking to her, reminding her that he loved Remedios. Her dead son's portrait tells her: "You sacrificed me for your own desires and separated me from the woman I loved. And my own brother murdered me." "Federico may be condemned but fire will purify OUR sins. [She's referring to hers and baby Pedrito's.] I am the hand of God, your humble instrument. [She doesn't look any more humble than usual.] Now I'll undertake the final purification!" Her candles set the place on fire instantly. Speaking to the pictures: "You, Pedro, and you, Adolfo, both committed the sin of lechery. The fire will purify you, too."

The girls rush into the hacienda and find Cleo praying, then dash off to the locked bedroom. They get the key. Maite bursts into the room, sees Jacinta davening with Pedrito in her arms and fire all around, grabs Pedrito and hands him off to Valeria. She's about to leave but Jacinta hauls her back into the burning room, slams the door shut again, and starts to garrotte her. "You caused all my misfortunes, you won't leave here alive, you'll die like your aunt and Martina, I'll save your soul."

Victor, Andres, and Unibrow arrive and break down the door, Victor pulls Maite out, a burning beam falls on Jacinta and she burns to death with the Vallodolid portraits melting all around her.

Maite lies unconscious in the street surrounded by anxious good guys. "Mama, don't leave me just when we've found each other!" Wait, she's not dead! She coughed! "It's over."

Remedios cries as Octavio comforts her. "She hated me, she killed my Pedro, she made Federico be like her. But I'm at fault also..." Octavio loyally posits: "We are not responsible for the choices our children make."

Now that Maite has almost burned up saving Pedrito, Valeria has finally forgiven her and asks her forgivenness in turn, calling her Mama. Victor, Unibrow, Andres, Maite, Valeria, and Veronica have a big group hug.

As Manola and Federico speed away he grumps: "You knew I was a real Vallodolid and you didn't tell me." "If you'd known, you'd have been intolerable." Just as they congratulate themselves for starting a new life, the cops, lots and lots of cops, come up behind. Rodrigo and Gustavo are in a car following the cops and Rodrigo assures Gustavo: "You're my dad. They're criminals." Rodrigo and Gustavo bond.

The little red getaway car roars up a dusty road to a hilltop and stops at the edge of a cliff. It's a long way down. The police come up behind and say "Give yourselves up." Rodrigo uses the megaphone to repeat the suggestion.

Manola and Federico get back in the car, agreeing they don't want to spend the rest of their lives in jail. They profess their love. "Together, as always!" "Together, forever!" They hold hands and kiss and Federico guns it and hurls the car over the cliff and it crashes far, far below and explodes into flame.

Some time later, church plaza. Victor and his old Maldonado buddy will start a new restaurant. Valeria and Andres will live in the hacienda. Andres offers to stop bullfighting but Unibrow says, "No, we know it's your passion." Rodrigo and Remedios bond as grandson and grandma. Guillermo shows up after all this time! With mommy and assorted siblings. Turns out Veronica "moved heaven and earth" to find him. He and Victor hug and Veronica hugs Guillermo too.

Rodrigo asks Baldo to teach him a word in Nuhuatl. They go over to Juanita and Rodrigo is too incompetent to repeat the words Baldo whispers in his ear. Instead, he asks in Spanish: "Do you like me? Would you like to be my girlfriend?" She answers in Nuhuatl and her dad Teodoro translates: "She says she'll try you out and see how it goes." Fair enough. "Well, would you give me lessons in Nuhuatl?" "Sure, classes begin whenever you like."

Cleo has taken the veil and gone to be a missionary somewhere far away. Nicolas is in jail. Sergio asks Josefina (Phyllis Diller Maldonado) to be his girlfriend, she accepts. Veronica and Baldo will both be in Europe and he will look her up. She gives him a kiss.

There is a double wedding. Valeria looks fabulous in her dress; Victor walks her down the aisle. Maite's dress is fussy and her hairdo rivals the much-maligned donuts Princess Leia wore in Star Wars; her dad Jose Maldonado walks her down the aisle. Andres and Unibrow are dressed like mariachis. They all get married. There's one more ghastly kiss from Unibrow and then hugs and applause etc.

It's a wrap! See you on the other side, folks! I'll be doing Mondays, MUNDO DE FIERAS. Be there or be square!

La Fea Más Bella #115 10/2/06 At least we get a token kiss!

Fernando and Luigi talk about Pilar over the phone. Luigi is in the locker room of the men’s soccer team for the world cup enjoying himself very much. Luigi tears himself from this for a moment to tell Fernando how to take care of Pilar. He says all you have to do is make her think that you’re going to use an extra. Fernando yells at the phone that he wants to know how to do that. Luigi tells Fernando not to yell at him because he’s so sensitive and very lonely; okay, maybe not “so” lonely. He tells Fernando to pay attention. He’ll tell him exactly what to do with Pilar Zacarias. We see Lety and Fernando listening intently. Lety gapes, but we’re going to have to wait for Luigi’s advice.

Tomas and Erasmo run into the golf course men. Erasmo yells at Tomas to get the salsa out of the car. The golf men don’t pass this one up and repeat the word salsa about twenty times and tease Erasmo for making salsa. Erasmo says that he did not make the salsa. Tomas asks how Erasmo knows them; Erasmo tells Tomas that they taught him how to play golf earlier. They men go on about golf but Tomas is busy looking at Alicia’s picture. Erasmo looks at Alicia’s picture and shakes his head.

Fernando looks at the scenery through the camera lens. Fernando and the technician disagree on the type of lens to use. Fernando wants a 100/80 lens and Gerardo wants a 16. Fernando gives his whatever wave and asks Ricardo what he thinks of Luigi’s plans with the mannequins. Ricardo is more concerned with changing the color of the clothing. Time is money. Fernando gives one of his many unique sounds in protest. Gerardo comes back into the scene and tries to describe why the red won’t work. Fernando says okay, and then calls for Saimon. Ricardo and Gerardo try to figure out Fernando’s hand motions. I wish them good luck; I’m not sure that the actor who plays Fernando knows what they mean.

Juana asks Lety what she’s going to do with Pilar. Lety says it’s a surprise, but it’s going to be fun. The cuartel tells Lety about the voyeur who was spying on the model in her trailer. Julieta gasps. Lety asks “Who was he?” Sara says he was an extremely ugly man with a really bad hairstyle. Fernando enters and pardons himself for interrupting. The cuartel jumps to attention. He and asks them to go get Saimon for him. Irmita, Juana and Martha go after Saimon. Lety tells Fernando that the cuartel knows that they need their help with Pilar. Julieta whispers in Lety’s ear that Erasmo has not come with the salsa.

Erasmo continues to talk with his golf friends while Tomas sneaks off. They’re talking about the price of golfing. The men joke that they’re extra money goes to their golf cart and to the bar. They ask Erasmo to go to the bar with them. Erasmo says he can’t because he has to take the salsa to the set. They talk about the different things to drink. The fat one says just a small glass of tequila. The tall man wants beer or champagne. The agree on Mezcal (a liquor made out of an agave plant. Tequila is made out of blue agave plants. Mezcal is made out of the other types.). The men cheer for Erasmo. He and his salsa somehow fit in the golf cart with the men.

Julieta worries about Erasmo. Saimon arrives and tells Fernando that he’ll do whatever he wants, with his usual dramatic phrases. Fernando says come here, you have lipstick on you’re mouth. Saimon tries to give excuses. Fernando doesn’t care and asks him to focus and to get three mannequins. He wants them to be very different and of good quality. He also wants some more underwear; white, yellow or black will work. PM says she’ll help Saimon look for the underwear. Fernando tells Saimon to hurry and not to come back with lipstick on his face. Saimon has one more question. Fernando looks for his wallet to give Saimon money but can’t find it. Saimon says he’ll take care of it but tells Lety that they’ll have to settle accounts later. Lety tells him of course. Saimon runs off. Fernando tells the cuartel to get to work. They scatter; he stalks off and Lety runs after him.

Erasmo and the golf men sit in the bar. The fat man welcomes Erasmo to the “world of golf.” Erasmo tells them that he thinks that having a cup of alcohol is fine, as long as it’s done in moderation. (Bet you can see where this is going.) They men toast and take a sip. Erasmo doesn’t like his drink. The fat man tells him that he’s drinking scotch. Erasmo says he’ll finish this drink and then he has to go to his woman.

Alicia sneaks around the outside of Pilar’s trailer. She spies on Pilar while Tomas spies on her. They both have a little foot pop moment. Alicia tries to jump up and look in the window, but she hurts a nail. Inside the trailer Pilar talks to her friend on her phone about the commercial. At first she complains about how slow the production of the commercial is going (yah! because she hasn’t shown up to the set. Duh!) No, she hasn’t heard anything more about the double life of “Fernando Pavel.” She says she’s going to keep her friend informed but, first, the commercial is going to be exactly how she wants it.

PM and Saimon shop for lingerie. PM is really into it and wants it all for herself, but Saimon just wants to grab whatever is in front of him. He doesn’t want the big boobied girl in the background to see him shopping with PM. PM wants to take more time and find something really nice. Saimon finds an unattractive salesgirl with a really bad boob job (I mean, seriously, the boobs are supposed to touch at some point, not point out in opposite directions!) to talk to about lingerie. PM interrupts and asks the salesgirl to ring her up. Saimon didn’t realize that she was the salesgirl. PM pretends to be sad with him.

Fernando throws rocks in the lake. Lety runs into him. I think this was supposed to be a hug; looked more like hit and run. They attempt to hold hands, miss and then finally get it right. Lety says she wanted to leave him alone, but she just couldn’t. She doesn’t like that he’s so tense and nervous. Fernando talks about how he’s doubting himself as the head of Conceptos. He’s not prepared to do this. If Luigi or Omar were here he would know exactly what to do. Lety says that, yes, Luigi would know exactly what to do but she doesn’t think that Omar does anything. Fernando laughs. She tells him that, of course, he’s going to have problems; it’s finding the solutions that’s important. He says thanks. They give each other some “love taps.” “Ay, Lety, what I am I going to do with you?” At the same time Fernando says this he’s thinking about how he has to marry Marcia. “Why do you say this, Don Fernando?” He says that he feels fragile and that he’s a bother to her. She tells them that of course he’s a bother to her (the love taps continue during this conversation.) and gives him a quick kiss. They hug while Fernando remembers Omar telling him what’s in the letter and how bad it would be if anyone found it. Fernando mentions the letter out loud. Lety asks what he said. Fernando makes some noise and walks off.

Erasmo and his golf friends have many glasses on the table. They’ve moved on to tequila. They call for the waiter, Roberto, for more drinks. Erasmo says he needs to go, but the tall guy convinces him to drink one more. Erasmo says he has to go to his wife after this drink. The guy in yellow plays a song on a fake violin while the tall man pretends to cry. The guy in yellow pretends to play on something else (sorry, don’t recognize the instrument), and everyone cheers. Next he does a trombone. Everyone cheers again.

Julieta is talking on the phone about how she is nervous something bad has happened. She hangs up and tells the cuartel that there is no news at the police station. Martha tells her that he’s just late. Juana does another dance (about sugar) to cheer her up. Alicia spies and Saimon and PM enter the scene. (These are realistic looking mannequins?) Saimon says he’s back with his mission completed.

Lety and Fernando walk through the bar. They see three very drunk men and Fernando laughs. Lety realizes one of them is her father. She wants to go get him, but Fernando says he’s not interfering in anything and it’s better to leave him. Lety says she’s worried, but eventually allows Fernando to rush her out so that Erasmo doesn’t see her.

The cuartel puts underwear on the mannequins while Lety tells her mom that Erasmo is in the bar being very friendly with some golfers. Julieta wants to run off and get him, but Lety tells her that it would be better for Erasmo to stay. She doesn’t want him to find out it’s an underwear commercial. Julieta insists. She wants her salsa. Lety says she would help her mom, but she has to stay and help with the commercial. Julieta tells Lety not to worry; she can do this all on her own. She storms off to get Erasmo, without Lety.

Erasmo tells the gentleman about his uncle Lazaro, who made a lot of money. Lazaro procured a great fortune, but he started out with basically nothing (one mule driver – I think). His friends don’t understand so he takes their shots and drinks them. They have a good laugh.

The models are set up on the porch. Lety runs over to the cuartel with their scripts. Saimon wants to participate, but Lety reminds him that they need women’s voices. She relents and gives him her page. Ricardo is not happy because it looks really fake. In order to convince Pilar that it’s real, the production has to be very professional. Fernando tells Gerardo that they just have to convince Pilar that they are filming the commercial without her. Fernando sends Irmita to tell Pilar that they don’t need any more of her services and to go home. Irmita thinks he’s telling herself to go home. Fernando re-explains; Irmita crosses herself and runs off to do her duty. Fernando whispers to Lety that she looked really cute when she was standing in front of the camera. (He’s telling her that she looks cute and is genuinely upset about marrying Marcia? Can we say t-r-o-u-b-l-e???)

Erasmo and his friends decide to toast. The yellow guy cries. Julieta enters and yells Erasmo’s name. The fat guy says I imagine this is your wife. He stands and tells her that they invited Erasmo to drink with them. She doesn’t care, she just wants her salsa. They compliment Julieta for having a lot of class. It almost works, but her sour look returns. Erasmo says what really happened is that they had just a little bit to drink, but he was just saying that he was going to take her the salsa. Erasmo grabs the salsa.

The cuartel makes a lot of noise. Fernando yells at them for silence. They give commands like they’re filming the commercial. Martha thinks he’s yelling her name when he’s actually saying “mark!”. hey hear Pilar yelling that they’re filming the commercial without her. We’re playing with her now, Fernando tells Lety.

Erasmo asks Julieta not to embarrass him in front of his new friends. Julieta says she’s worried about him. The friends try to defend Erasmo. She takes the salsa from Erasmo’s hands and walks off. The men congratulate Erasmo for his good woman. There is not anymore woman like that anymore! He shakes their hands and hugs them good-bye. Erasmo takes one more shot. With a deep breath in his lungs, he leaves after Julieta. He yells for her when she’s one foot in front him. She talks about her chilaquiles. They were waiting for their salsa. She laughs at Erasmo’s drunkenness. He holds onto her and says that it feels as if the whole world is moving.

Fernando complains about the slow process filming the commercial. Alicia spies on the commercial and doesn’t understand why they’re doing a commercial with mannequins. Pilar runs up to Fernando and demands to know what he’s doing. (If you have a VCR or DVR, please rewind and check out her run. I am at a loss of words…) Alicia sees this and protests. Tomas is almost discovered. Fernando tells Pilar he needs silence. Irmita gets the best job ever. Shutting up Pilar by putting her hand over the mouth. The cuartel reads their respective scripts while Pilar tries to claw herself away from Irmita. Sara put an extra sexy emphasis on her lines. Fernando loves it. Fernando tells them to focus on the mannequins and cut! Everyone cheers. Ricardo says that they can cancel the model and the horse. Pilar demands to know how they could replace her with mannequins. Fernando said that camera time is expensive and they didn’t have a choice. Ricardo says that Fernando came up with the idea and it was much more economical. Pilar protests. Fernando gives her a bunch of reasons why Ricardo would prefer the mannequins over her Lety attempts to hold Pilar back but Pilar screams at her to let her go. (Another telenovela classic line) Sara runs up and asks Fernando if he wants her help in ejecting the model. Fernando says, no, that’s okay but thanks. Fernando tells Pilar to leave them in peace and go home. Pilar repents and tells Fernando that she’ll do whatever he wants. Saimon comes over and says that’s good, but she has to do everything that they ask of her and be very disciplined. Alicia pops up in the background along with Tomas. He blows her a kiss and she feels something on her cheek.

Fernando and Lety find another private place and applaud their success. Neither can decide which way to go. Fernando needs to talk to Ricardo; Lety needs to check on Pilar. Lety points out that both people are located in the same direction.

The cuartel goes back to the tent and celebrates their success with the mannequins. Lety comes in and pretends to be upset. They laugh about Pilar’s face when she was talking to Fernando. Juana says that Fernando should use their voices for all his commercials. Irmita says that Saimon should return the mannequins. Saimon wants to leave before Pilar wreaks her revenge. Lety says that the underwear has to come off the mannequins first. Sara decides to return to Rodolfo now that Fernando doesn’t need her anymore. Lola gives chase. Julieta has brought Erasmo into the tent and he sits in the corner sleeping.

Ricardo asks Fernando if the filming is ready to start; he has to go back to the office. Fernando says they only need to get Pilar on the horse. Ricardo asks Fernando where he got the idea with the mannequins. Fernando tells him it was another diva’s, Luigi’s idea. Ricardo smiles knowingly. Gerardo asks Lety for the new underwear. She runs off and jumps over the tracks for the camera.

Alicia falls asleep in the grass. Tomas (can we say stalker??) pets her hair until her cell phone rings. It’s her father. She complains that Pilar is going to do the commercial and she’s not going to get her money. Her last hope is the horse.

Sara returns to Rodolfo. She asks Lola to leave her alone with him. Lola runs off and then not so inconspicuously climbs a tree. Sara says that she can see that her actions and jokes have not worked, but she’s going to lay it all out, just like she’s naked. Lola gasps. Sara says she’s going to speak from her soul; that what she’s about to so is going to move Rodolfo. Sara says she’s going to tell Rodolfo her life story so that he knows her completely. Lola hangs on her every word, literally and figuratively.

Julieta and Martha talk about Julieta’s food. Erasmo is awake and yells at Julieta for being mad at her. Martha interrupts, but Julieta shushes her. He walks off to talk to Lety while Julieta tries to stop him.

Sara talks about how united and loving was her family. They were able to do anything. Lola leaves the tree, uninterested. Sara talks about how abusive her neighbors were toward her parents. She beat up her first boy when she was four years old to defend her parents. Lola cries in the background about Sara’s valor. Sara walks over and tells Lola that her story’s purpose is to move Rodolfo. Lola pulls Sara’s arm to get her to come with her.

Lety walks up to Gerardo with a, gasp!, red bag. This bag contains black underwear. Gerardo says that they’re perfect, they’re won’t be any problems filming them. He tells her that he wasn’t sure that Fernando would be able to fix the situation without Luigi. He says that she and Fernando make a great team. He gives a hug. Erasmo walks up to Lety at this exact moment. His face gets even redder than usual.

Are we finally going to see Pilar get bucked off of Lightening?
Is Erasmo going to beat up Gerardo?
Will Julieta ever get to serve her food?

Heridas Friday Sep 29

Al and Miranda are in Fernanda’s office, she wants to get to know all her daughters. Alejandro says she will, she says how? When? Al and Miranda both tell her they are there for her, everything will work out fine in the end. Fern is feeling this way because her daughter Renata is getting married and she can’t share it with her like a mother.

When Bertha finds the hidden pocket in the briefcase, the papers she pulls out are remarkably white and wrinkle free after being in there for so many years! This case must be made of miracle leather. Amazing. They look fresh off the printer.

Charo retrieves the envelope from the dresser and talks to herself a lot. She decides to take the papers to Father Santiago, then thinks she’ll look at them first. A picture of Tomasa when she was younger. She finds a letter addressed to Norma Gomez Ramos, who is that? Maybe Ramos was Tomasa’s maiden name? Oh well, she decides, she might as well read it. The letter says “to my dear little girl, I don’t know if the Virgin will let me see you again or when you will get this card, but know that you aren’t alone in this world.” Lalala, your father was happy when you were born, etc etc. “Some horrible woman took you from my arms and I never saw you again.” I thought the letter was to a daughter, but apparently it is to the granddaughter, who we now know is Nuria. She decides to hurry off to Padre Santiago with the envelope, after a quick prayer.

Bertha talks to the dog. Then she flashes back to ‘that night’ – Antonio de Guzman uh ooops sorry, Alfredo Luque, is asking the younger (and way hotter) Bertha, “what if she says no? What if she won’t go with me?” Young Bertha says “of course she will, she doesn’t want to spend one more day here, convince her!” Back to the present, she whines to the dog that Alfredo always loved Fern and not her. She starts rubbing her forehead and getting psycho, telling the dog all her evil plans.

Lasagna is talking with Cesar on the phone, he convinces her to not tell her family that they are together, or whatever they are. Mom is coming, see you later at your apartment, kisses bye! Jeez Lasagna make me BARF. Que tonta. Lasagna promises her mother she’ll apologize to Alejandro. Mom says “what is with you?” nothing mom GOD leave me alone. “another boyfriend?” “Uhhh yeah mom, but don’t ask me now, give me a little time first.” Lasagna leaves, Mom says “you’re hiding something, I’ll find out what.”

Charo cries to Padre Santiago. He tells her that Tomasa is in a better place. Charo tells the father about when Tomasa died and how Bertha lied about how it happened. Charo is beside herself for lying on Bertha’s behalf and wants to confess to him, he says ok let’s go.

Al and Miranda are STILL in Fern’s office. Fern has found a candidate to donate a heart to transplant into Florencia. Maybe this will get Flor to stop being such dead weight. Where are Flor and Fab anyway? I don’t think they’ve appeared in like two weeks. I haven’t missed them. Miranda’s phone rings, it’s Fab. I typed that last bit too soon. I’m a jinx. Ohhhh they have been in the U.S. buying baby things. Miranda report that they are having a good time there. Alejandro seethes at Fab calling her on the phone. He says “why didn’t SHE call you? Why didn’t you ask to speak to her?” Miranda has no answer.

Everyone is congratulating Juan and Renata. Amparo and Francisco don’t look very happy. Amparo gives a smile to Juan but coldly tells Renata to be good to him, she’ll never find anyone better. Renata says “I know.” Convincingly even, like she means it. Then Amparo gives in and hugs her. Francisco gives them advice about respecting each other. Renata couldn’t be any more uncomfortable. Carola comes in and tells Juan she’ll never leave him alone and hugs him a little too long. Renata is jealous, Superslut immediately tells her to look out for that one (Carola), making her even more jealous. She says “JUAN! I have to change, come with me.” This marriage is off to a GREAT start. Carola holds her hand out to Renata and says “I’m Carola, I hope we can become BEST friends!” Renata’s look says “I doubt it.” Renata refuses to shake hands and starts bitching at Carola to basically get the hell out and never come back. Francisco and Amparo break it up by declaring that it’s time to eat. Renata pulls Juan away and gets on him about too much touching and hugging with Carola. He explains that she’s like a sister, Renata should treat her that way too. Renata isn’t buying it but says fine, she’ll apologize and change things. I don’t believe it. Francisco tells Juan to be patient with her.

Miranda and Alejandro are arguing about Fab. He thinks she is always sooo happy when she talks to him, and thinks that he calls her too much. She doesn’t have much to say about it, just “you’re crazy, give me a break, should I never talk to him again?” They are acting like a couple of teenagers. As usual. One week they are mad at each other, the next they are going to get married. Cripes. Fern comes back in the room and interrupts their mature conversation, the women are off to see the new bride Renata. Alejandro says he can’t go because something is going on with Lasagna (like she has gone INSANE?) and he has to go check it out. Al tells Miranda he’ll call her later, she says ok I’ll wait for your call. Hey maybe they aren’t so immature after all. Al picks her cell phone up off the chair – “here you better not forget your cell phone, you wouldn’t want to miss a call from FABRICIO.” Ah. They are so immature after all. Miranda gives him a withering look and slams the door behind her when she leaves. Smooth move Al.

Santiago wants no part of the envelope Charo brought, he tells her to do whatever she thinks is right with it. She is wanting him to tell her what to do, he is hemming and hawing and doesn’t want to be the one to make the decision. He tells her that in that card Tomasa tells about something very serious but there isn’t any proof to it beyond her word. He tells her to give it to whoever she trusts the most, she still says him. He says finally, “Fine, I’ll just hold on to it for you until you decide, ok?” She is relieved and takes off.

Daira tells Al about her earlier conversation with Lasagna. Al doesn’t like her getting around so much, he wants to know who this new boyfriend is. She knows something else is bothering Al, he starts whining about having doubts, I think that he has doubts about Miranda’s faithfulness, Daira says something about her having doubts about him too? Or him having doubts about himself? Whatever it was, muchas dudas.

The wedding party is chowing down. They talk about how good the food is and ask Renata what her best dish is, she says she doesn’t know how to cook. Why, they ask? Because she always had a cook! The pobres are trying to aggravate her, she is rising to the bait a little bit. Francisco shuts them up and Renata thanks him. Juan smiles at her and she smiles back, but she obviously would rather be anywhere else. Amparo goes to the kitchen and Francisco follows her, she starts crying and says she has a bad feeling in her chest. Fran says it isn’t the greatest party but what are they going to do?

Al admits that the fact that he hasn’t told Miranda everything bothers him. He goes over all the facts again, his quest for vengeance, Flor is his sister, etc. Daira says to tell her and ask for her understanding. What if she hates him? Well, then, that’s just he way it is. Daira tells him that these things aren’t logical, he just has to be honest with her. He prattles on and on about loving her, jealousy being stupid, etc.

Rebeca and Cesar are talking about Gonz and Julio, Julio is listening in from the other room. I didn’t really understand what they were talking about but it didn’t seem that important really. Julio walks in and he and Cesar smile and laugh, Cesar works on him to try and get him to sell his shares to Luciano. Julio says fine, I’ll do it.

Bertha tells the dog that she has a fortune in her hands. She has the rights to all of Alfredo Luque’s designs, and his money. The clean crisp papers she found are notarized contracts turning over the rights to everything with the beneficiary’s name left blank. “He was going to give everything to Fernanda, that’s why he had this portfolio with him.” As if there were any way ever in the world that this would happen. Cripes. I know we have to suspend disbelief, but come on. Oh here’s how to get out of a jam – let’s have the rich guy leave something where whoever writes their name in gets everything. Great idea! She has a flashback about Flor being a young child and having trouble breathing. I think that was how she got Gonzalo out of the house for Alfredo to come in, he had to take her to the doctor. She picks up her cell phone and calls Alejandro, telling him she has to see him right away, she has his father’s portfolio! He says he’ll come right away. She says no, no, tomorrow, she’ll call him to tell him where and when. After hanging up the phone, she caresses the portfolio like she’s having sex with it, with the appropriate facial expressions and everything. She cackles that Al won’t sleep now until he has the bag in his own arms, she’s going to make him suffer, I think she said until he understands how much she loves him? Let me get this straight – I love this guy, so I’m going to make him sooo miserable until he realizes it. Hmmm. Based on some women I’ve known, this is perfectly acceptable female logic. Present company excluded I’m sure.

Miranda and Fern are with Francisco and Amparo, Fern is upset that things weren’t happier than they were, everyone says give it time, lalala. She says she understands how Renata feels, Amparo doesn’t really like her but Francisco defends her. Basically they are all gossiping. Miranda says they better be prepared, they don’t know what a bitch Renata can be. Fern thinks she has to talk to her right away, they convince her to wait.

The REALLY hopping party consists of everyone sitting around, the party is breaking up. People leave one by one, giving Renata a chance to sneer at them individually, especially Carola when she gives Juan a loooong hug and kiss. Everyone quickly bails. Like in 20 seconds the room is empty. Congrats, congrats. Superslut of course can’t just let things be. On her way out, she tries to give Renata her car keys. Renata says no, no. Slutty says “I honor my obligations” or something like that. Juan says “what are you talking about?” Slutty McSluterson says “uh OOooohhh sorry…..you didn’t say anything to Juan? Oh My God!” Yeah right. Also, Erika and her FRIGGIN GAWDAWFUL HAIR are there the whole time. That has to be mentioned, as it cranks up the horror of this moment quite a bit. Juan says, “didn’t say anything to me about what, mi amor?”

Gonz is in his office, Doctor Escalante is brought in. The doctor says something is strange about Flor’s condition, it is hereditary through the parents, there is no other cause ever never ever, you see where this is leading, right? Also, he says it is strange that she never responded to the treatment from Bertha. Gonz says she saw all the best doctors! The doctor says it doesn’t matter, what matters is that it looks like Flor never took the medication in sufficient dosages. Gonz is stunned, with good reason. Maybe he’ll finally kill Bertha or something. We can only hope. Somebody on this show needs to get beat down hard and she’s at the top of the list. Well, co-number one with Cesar, whose greatest crime was taking Lasagna away from me. Bastard. Anyway, Gonz starts drinking.

Juan demands an explanation, she tries to say nothing, so he asks Slutty to tell him. She says “Renata, you might as well tell him, after all you ARE married now!” ha ha ha. Renata tells her to get out, she is going to be late for wherever she is going! Slutty finally just says “ok fine, we bet that you would marry her and I lost. You won, Renata! Yay!” She holds out the car keys. Renata looks scared and Juan looks lost. Slutty and BadHair leave in a hurry. Juan grabs Renata by the arms and screams at her, “This is why you married me? for a BET?”

Santiago is at his desk reading the rest of Tomasa’s letter. Nothing really out of the ordinary, I miss you, I wish I could talk to you, etc. He talks to his cross, “why doesn’t she use Bertha’s name? She only refers to her as ‘she’ so there’s no proof. We know, but she didn’t SAY it.” He puts the envelope away in a drawer, when he looks up, there is Bertha standing there laughing. She asks him why he told Alejandro about the bank accounts and the scandal, he says it wasn’t a confessional secret so he could say. Then something about justice, she says the only justice is HER justice, then she’s mad because Alejandro is going to investigate the whole thing. “Padre, you’re going to be sorry!” he says “what are you going to do? Kill me like you did Tomasa?”

Juan is understandably pissed off. Renata denies it, says Slutty was making a trick. He gives her an out by slightly changing the subject, saying that if her love for him is because of a bet then…. She says no! “I love you more than I ever thought I possibly could love.” She jumps on him with a pretty heavy kiss. He says “look me in the eyes and tell me, Renata, did you make a bet with Slutbag about whether I’d propose to you, or not?” She can’t do it, she lowers her eyes. He says that’s how it is with women like them, they toy with the emotions of real people like him! She made a mockery of his whole family, who welcomed her. She cries and begs for a chance to prove to him how much she loves him. He yells at her that all this was for her! (indicating the food and the party, etc) If she wants to marry a pobre then she can learn to live like one and clean everything up here and in the kitchen. If not, then when he gets back she better be gone. He slams the door behind him on the way out. Renata looks at the mess and cries even harder.

Miranda sits on the steps of the house and leaves a flower there in Tomasa’s memory. Cesar shows up and wants to take her to lunch. She says she has to meet Alejandro later. He says why don’t we go see a movie or something first, relax a bit? She seems to be going for it. Idiota. He asks when she’s meeting him, she has to call him first to find out. Ok, he says, call him and we’ll all three go, sound like fun? He is putting his hand on her face to be so sensitive like she always falls for. Right then Al shows up and yells at Cesar to get his hands off of her. I do believe Cesar saw him coming, based on the smirk he’s got on his face. Al is staring him down, Miranda is looking at Al like he’s crazy. Man she’s stupid. That’s all for today, tomorrow they’ll argue some more about jealousy, etc.

Introducing myself!!

Since I'm new to Caray, Caray, I figure I will tell you a little about myself, since the only other name that looks familiar from the Telenovela World is Jardinera.

I live in New York, I'm married, 2 kids, son 21, daughter 20, 3 cats and 2 dogs, oh! and a husband!! I'm a Sales & Marketing Manager in the international division of a big corporation.

I was born in El Salvador and came to the US when I was 15, as a little girl I always enjoyed watching novelas.

Currently I only watch occasionally, in order for me to get into a novela, I either must like the story from the very beginning or my favorite actor (Guy Ecker) or actress (Kate del Castillo) must be in it.

About 8 years ago the telenovela La Mentira aired here in the US, I started watching because of Kate and thanks to that I discover Guy Ecker.

We had a forum in Telenovela World and I was one of the summary writers, one day to our surprise Guy posted in the forum, then told the novela producer about it and before we knew it the producer and 3 member of the cast started posting, We created a chatroom and invited all the actors and producer and we developed a great friendship with them.

When the novela ended, we went to the Cristina show in April, we had arranged to meet with Guy after the show we got pictures autographs etc.

We kept in touch with the producer and he told us that in August, several from the cast of La Mentira were doing a tour for Ronald McDonald Charity at Chicago Navy Pier and if we wanted to go meet them he would call Univision and get us in touch with the PR people. So the so-called Mentiraholics went off to Chicago, where we met Kate, her dad Eric, Roxana Castellanos, Rosa Maria Bianchi, it was during that meeting that Kate del Castillo invited us to go to Mexico to visit Televisa so in December we went to Mexico, to Televisa and many other places, met many of the actors and that's how we have kept in touch with a lot of them for the past 8 years. When Heridas started, I decided to get a group together from the Mentiraholics as most of us keep in touch, got a hold of Guy's wife Estela who is also his manager and she invited us to go to the set of Heridas so the last week of August 7 of us spent 4 days at the locaciones and saw the taping of many, many scenes, went to lunch with Guy and his wife and got to meet Jacky Bracamontes and many others from the cast. So as you can see I do this as a hobby now. I have met great people along the way and made great friends from all over the world. I will give Mundo de Fieras a shot, I do like Cesar Evora but can't stand Sebastian Rulli, so we'll see how it goes, looking forward to meeting everyone here. In the Telenovela world page of Heridas I posted many of the pictures I have with all the actors.

La Fea Más Bella #114 9/29/06 The Horse Whisperer

Alicia & Tomas
Alicia is listening to the horse guy on the phone with someone, reporting that the doctor said that Camila (the original horse) is too sick for the commercial and the replacement horse, Relampago, is very jumpy. He wonders if the model will be able to ride him. After he leaves, Alicia goes to Relampago's stall. She tries to make friends with him, flatters him, explains that she wants to be the model for the commercial, and asks him to do her a favor – throw Pilar! The horse seems to whinny in agreement. Tomas, skulking in the background, puts his fist against his mouth in horror.
Alicia goes on to give Relampago detailed instructions on how to throw Pilar. Not hard enough to cripple her badly, Alicia says. Just enough so she can't do the commercial. Then, later, she will ride him herself. (She tries to give the horse a hug, but he pulls away irritably.) She tells him that he has to make her look really good. (She tries to snuggle close again, and he pushes her away with his nose. She is annoyed, but quickly recovers.) She says she's going to be a big star. She makes kissies at him.
Tomas loses his balance and makes a noise. He hides before she can see him. She bids Relampago a fond farewell and runs away as quickly as those ridiculous shoes will take her.
Rodolfo & Sara
Sara is still trying to get a rise out of the security guy. She gropes him. She dances for him. Lola, PM, and Saimon cheer her on. He's not moving. I think he's dead. Lola thinks so too. Sara puts her head against his chest to listen. She says it feels good. She tries to put his arm around her, but it keeps falling away! Sara smiles contentedly.
After some more nagging from the peanut gallery, Sara dances for Rodolfo again, more like a stripper this time. A reverse-stripper who takes off other people's clothes... namely Rodolfo's. She removes his tie and whips him playfully with it. Lola pulls Sara away and puts the tie back on Rodolfo... on his head. They drag Sara away, kicking and screaming.
I, personally, am heartbroken. I was hoping to find out how far Rodolfo would let this go.
The commercial
Pilar is complaining about a bad smell. The makeup guy says he bathes three times a day. She retorts that the whole place smells terrible. And the heat is killing her. What kind of rinky-dink operation is this, anyway?
Plus, she's very displeased with her appearance. She can't decide whether it's the makeup or the hair; it's all awful. Irma points out that it's the same hair and makeup Pilar approved yesterday. Pilar snottily replies that that was before; today is different. She's in a different mood today, and wants to change everything. Irma offers to discuss it with Fern; Pilar doesn't want to. If she can't change her look, she won't do the commercial. (I say they should take her up on that offer and give the job to Yazmin for 1/10th the price.)
Outside, Gerardo (the lighting guy) explains that he needs to adjust his lighting for the model's clothing. Lety jokes there won't be much clothing to speak of. Fern mentions the possibility of the horse throwing Pilar. He explains that she will ride out on the horse, wearing a cape; swish swish swish in the breeze; she'll throw off the cape, revealing the underwear. Lety runs to fetch the underwear from Irma.
Pilar is telling the makeup guy to make her eyes more blue. (They are brown.) By now, she has on enough makeup to be a clown. Irma confides to Lety, who has just entered the trailer, that Luigi is a saint compared to Pilar. She is the most insufferable person Irma has ever met in her life. (Pilar is complaining about makeup guy's shaky hands. Her eyes are uneven. Etc.) Lety says you can tell me about this later, but right now I need the clothes. Irma gives them to her, but Pilar wants to see them first. She claims that red is her favorite color, and the clothes are the only thing she likes about this job.
Lety takes the cape and the red bra and thong. Pilar tells the makeup guy to go away for lunch. Apparently, he doesn't, because he's still there in the next scene. Outside, Fern and Gerardo continue to set up for the commercial. It seems that Fern is not expecting Pilar's horse ride to last very long! Fern expresses slightly more enthusiasm for the underwear than Lety would like.
Alicia approaches, hiding behind a fence. Tomas follows at a discreet distance. He overhears Fern talking about “ropa interior.” Apparently, Tomas didn't know this was going to be an underwear commercial. The prospect of seeing Alicia in underwear makes him giddy.
Gerardo says that red is a bad color to work with. (Wouldn't Luigi have known that?) Lety tells Fern that the red was the only thing Pilar liked about this production; she's not going to want to change it. Fern panics and stomps off to the trailer, followed by Alicia, who is followed by Tomas. A stray lighting man blocks Alicia's path. She tries to get around him, but can't. He asks her to get him a lemonade. She begins to protest indignantly, then realizes that she's wearing the waitress uniform. She says she'll bring it soon.
Inside the trailer, Pilar is still being difficult with the makeup guy. Irma tells Fern that her patience is running out. He feels the same way. He asks her for a blessing to sustain him. They do a breathing exercise together. Rejuvenated and refreshed, he confronts Pilar. He tells her that this look (clowny makeup and her hair down) is not what they had agreed upon. She tells him, “look, my image is my choice, not yours... Pavel.” Flustered, he mutters to Irma, “again with the Pavel.”
He lectures her about being prepared to do the commercial. It's not that complicated, he tells her. Instead, though, she wants him to tell her about his life. What's he been up to in the last few years? Does he still like ugly girls? (Referring to how Pavel dumped her in favor of his own assistant, a frumpy girl with a mustache.) Fern flashes back to kissing Lety at Omar's place.
Irma helps Fern redirect the conversation back to his favorite topic, the commercial. He says she's going to put on this cape. (Irma brings out the storyboard.) He describes the swishing beautiful satin cape and how it opens up, revealing... (He has to pause while the makeup guy has a minor conniption.)
Pilar interrupts. She didn't know anything about a cape. She wants to ride out in just the underwear. No cape. He says we're going to do it the way we contracted to do it. (Irma indicates the storyboard again.) She's going to wear the cape and open it up (makeup guy reacts again). Pilar disagrees.
Outside, Gerardo is explaining the finer technical points of color and video to Lety. He says the red would look fine if they were just doing it on film, but they're doing it on tape. (There was some tension between Luigi and Fern in the early months of this show when Fern tried to get Luigi to switch from film to tape; it was before I started watching, unfortunately. Maybe Luigi chose red specifically to spite Fern for making him switch to tape.) I think Lety also says the red looks trashy or cheap. Gerardo says they really need to use a different color. He asks Lety why her eyelid is twitching. She explains that it happens when she's nervous or worried.
Outside the trailer, Fern is just about ready to cancel the whole thing. Just then, who should show up but Ricardo and his entourage! Ricardo (no relation to Ricky Armstrong of Bella Life) wants to know how it's going. Fern says it's going great and Ricardo should immediately go off to whatever other commitments he may have. Just then, Lety runs up, screaming that they have to change the color of the underwear. Fern introduces her to Ricardo and his staff, and hurriedly suggests that they all go to the chow tent for some coffee.
Ricardo loves Julieta's mole. Fern thinks he's kidding, but Ricardo says no, it's awesome. Other events have elegant, sophisticated catering, but it's just for looks. This stuff is seriously wonderful. Julieta is charmed. :-)
Fern pulls Ricardo aside and says there's just one tiny little technical problem. They can't use the red underwear. It'll look awful on TV. But the model loves the red and she doesn't want to wear the cape. Ricardo says that's too bad – the commercial needs to be done the way it was storyboarded.
Julieta overhears this and is surprised – this is an underwear commercial?? She worries RoboPop will have a heart attack when he finds out. Fern asks Lety and her mother to discuss this someplace else. (They do. It's boring. They also wonder when RoboPop will get back with the salsa.)
Alicia (followed by Tomas) teeters back to the trailer, where Pilar is still tormenting the makeup guy. He excuses himself (perhaps to take one of his three daily baths) and Alicia enters. Pilar snidely asks if Alicia worked out all that unpleasantness with her credit card at the supermarket. Then she asks if Alicia still works at Conceptos – because today she's a waitress. Alicia says of course not – she's doing a movie nearby, playing a waitress. You see, she's an actress! Pilar scoffs, but Alicia insists that it's just one of her many facets. Soooooo... how's the commercial going, Pilar?
Pilar admits it's going poorly. They want her to go out there wearing a cape. Alicia offers sympathy and friendship, and says she overheard Fernando talking with the clients – they're not going to let Pilar have her way. Pilar sees this as an exciting challenge. Alicia says she has to get back to her movie set, and asks Pilar not to tell Fern she was there. She adds that Pilar is wearing way too much makeup – she (Pilar) should get them to fix it. She gets up and leaves.
Tomas, who has been peeping through the window, scurries underneath the trailer as Alicia exits, very pleased with herself. Tomas is so mesmerized by Alicia's retreating legs that he doesn't notice Sara, Lola, PM, and Saimon approach. They apprehend him, call him a voyeur, etc. He gives a false name (so they won't tell Lety he was there). Sara says the next time she sees him, she'll give him a knuckle sandwich. They drag him away. (Wait, shouldn't Rodolfo be doing this?) Alicia watches from a hiding place, wondering who this weird man is.
They drag Tomas to the country club entrance and throw him out. Lola and Sara want to go back to investigate a scream they just heard (more on that later). I think PM and Saimon talk about finding a secluded spot. Tomas tries to get back into the country club, but the guard doesn't want to let him through. As they are discussing this, they hear a siren. Tomas panics, thinking Sara has called to have him arrested, but it's just the policeman escorting RoboPop with the green salsa. Pop vouches for Tomas, and since the guard sees that Pop is friendly with a cop, he can't very well throw Tomas out. They find Saimon and PM sucking face in the parking lot. RoboPop chides them for carrying on in public. Tomas crouches in the car, trying not to get caught again. RoboPop explains to Tomas that they are Lety's friends. This worries Tomas. Now he can never show his face around Lety's friends?? Tomas asks RoboPop didn't he ever publicly show affection to Doña Julieta? Offended, Pop says what kind of a question is that?
Lety tries to console her panicky boss/boyfriend outside Pilar's trailer. He asks what would become of him, without her? She says he would be fine – he's smart and all that. He tells her she's an angel. She puckers up for a kiss. He almost goes for it, then pulls back – he doesn't think it's a good idea out in the open where everyone might see. He steels himself and goes back into the trailer. Lety waits outside.
Pilar has more complaints about her appearance. Fern says something about ten million pesos, but it doesn't work. He says Ricardo is here. Pilar says good – then he can see for himself what a disaster this production is. He says they still want to do it the way they originally agreed, with the satin cape. She doesn't want to hear about it from him. She tells him that she spoke to a woman from Conceptos who had fat legs and was wearing a waitress uniform. He doesn't know of any fat waitress at Conceptos. :-) She says if she can't have things her way, it's not going to happen at all. No cape. Fern is about to strangle her. The makeup guy pulls him away, begging him not to ruin his life getting blood on his hands, etc. He seems to enjoy groping Fern.
Fern leaves the trailer. His screams are heard all over the country club. The feas in the chow tent look around nervously. The film crew and Ricardo wonder what that sound is. Alicia gloats that Pilar must have just pulled out of the job. Fern tells Lety he feels better.
Lety has an idea. She says the worst thing that can happen to a diva is to meet a worse diva. Therefore, they should have Pilar speak to Luigi. (The makeup guy nods knowingly.) Fern thinks it's crazy to put two divas together, but Lety thinks it's the only way to get Pilar to listen. Fern is worried what Luigi will think of him if he asks him for help, but finally agrees to make the phone call.
Luigi is loafing in a gym, enjoying the scenery. He hasn't started filming yet. He asks Fern what sorts of silly things are happening over there in Mexico. He says it must be very difficult to do the underwear commercial without Luigi Lombardi. (He takes a moment to inspect the physique of a man in the gym. He gives his hearty approval.) Fern tells Luigi that Pilar is insufferable – even more so than Luigi. She won't go along with the storyboard. (Luigi is more interested in the men in the gym.) Luigi said he could fix the problem if he were there, but he's in Germany, thank God, so no, he can't help. Fern just wants to know what to do. Luigi throws a hissy fit, telling Fern not to yell at him because he's sensitive, he's very far from home, and he's lonely, and bored, his boyfriend is touring all over Germany and he's stuck there by himself. Then he says eh, he's not so lonely (surrounded by hot men). And he'll speak to Pilar.

Shameless plug: Check out my Ugly Betty recaps! There's not much there yet, but I'll be beefing it up over the next few days.

Barrera de Amor recap: September 29

  • Jacinta warms to the idea of her godson Rodrigo being Federico's son and therefore yet another illegitimate Valladolid, "even if he too is the result of lechery." Federico says Manola sought him one night... "I'm very repentent." He uses the magic phrase: "in Rodrigo's veins runs the blood of Vallodolid..." and Jacinta agrees to help get him sprung from jail.

She says Rodrigo and Veronica being first cousins won't prevent their getting married; a dispensation can be obtained.

  • Sergio and Remedios barge into the hacienda and demand that Jacinta explain her connection to the bracelet. Jeez, I find this whole thread so flimsy and pointless, but there were some fun interchanges, to wit: "You killed your husband!" "No, the bull killed him." "No, you did it." "No, it was the Hand of God." "You think YOU are the hand of God."

  • Rodrigo's guests in jail include:

    • Andres and Valeria (they've been standing there since yesterday), still shocked just shocked. Rodrigo apologizes for wrecking their life so casually.

    • Manola: "We're doing all we can for you, honey." "Mother, you were never affectionate." "Don't be a martyr! Besides, it's your own fault. Remember when you waved that gun around in front of the hired help, when you were threatening Daniel? They probably ratted you out."

Manola is shocked, just shocked, that Rodrigo suspects his own grandfather killed Omar. Thinking a bit, however, she turns and says, "That crazy old coot, come to think of it maybe he did, I'll have him locked up."

    • Federico and Jacinta. Manola tries to slip away but Federico grabs her, saying she should hear the following: "Rodrigo, I, uh, I, not Gustavo, am your father." Rodrigo goes nuts, far beyond impactado. Yells about betrayal. Manola: "Well, I did it for you too, I never loved Gustavo - I married him to keep the family from ruin - he would have put me out on the street..." Jacinta interrupts: "Actually, it's all Maite's fault, because if she hadn't seduced my son Adolfo, Manola would have married him." Federico mutters to himself that he was intimate with Manola before that - but nobody's listening to anybody.

Rodrigo has had it with all of them and sends them away, leaving only Jacinta who says, "One more thing: your dad Federico is my dead husband's son." Rodrigo just sinks to the floor of his cell, completely overstimulated. He needs a snack and a nap in my opinion. I'm speaking as a mother here.

  • Twisted Doc Pardo has demanded money from Rafael and Jacaranda so he can flee before he gets arrested.

Timid Violeta sneaks into his office and starts filming miscellaneous knick-knacks.

Rafael, Pardo, and Jacaranda arrive with a big suitcase of money and loudly discuss all their murders etc.

Maite, who was also eavesdropping unbeknownst to Violeta, bursts in. Rafael is a bit giggly and admits to strangling Magdalena, Veronica's mother. Then he jumps on Maite and starts strangling her.

Violeta is impactada and sinks behind the desk in terror. We see Veronica, at her current age, sitting with Violeta and Vera as young girls. All three hold hands and then the two alter-egos disappear. Re-integrated Veronica has the courage to get up and bash Rafael unconscious.

The police take Rafael away. Veronica got some of the strangling on her videotape, so that's convenient.

Veronica now remembers everything, including Rafael's murdering her mother. She is now completely cured, sez Doc Monica just prior to going to affirm officially: Veronica no longer needs the tutelage of her grandmother. Victor and Maite get hugs, kisses, tears, and apologies from Veronica, who also no longer needs so many loony nicknames.

  • Federico brings Rafael cigarettes in jail. Rafael blusters that Jacinta must spring him, since he knows so many of her dirty secrets, but Federico says: "It's DOÑA JACINTA to you" and leaves, not before saying, "I could bring you a book to help pass the time. 100 Years of Solitude is supposed to be quite good." Heh.

  • Back at the hacienda, Jacinta asks Valeria: "Who's been looking through my address book and leaving it open to Doc Pardo's number?" Valeria plays dumb.

Jacinta goes in the back room and dumps about half a cup of poison powder into a little cup of tea. "I can control my grand-daughters with MORE medicine, they'll be MORE tranquil - I can't have them going against my wishes."

Valeria looks at the tea cross-eyed and says, "It makes me feel so bad." "Nonsense, what harm can herbal medicines do? DRINK IT!"

Maite bursts in, shouts, asserts, and holds Jacinta down while Valeria gets the baby. All escape down the tunnel. Cleo follows and sees the tunnel.

  • Nicolas independently thinks up the whole "tell Jacinta that Rodrigo is a Valladolid" thing and goes to Federico, brandishing the stolen birth certificate Federico had assumed to be a figment. As Federico starts to ask questions, Nicolas giggles and says: "Oh, you know how Manola drags people into things..."

  • Evening mass has ended; Jacinta is schmoozing with the Padre. In come Maite, Valeria, the Maldonados, Andres, Unibrow and everybody else (the shot is framed so their heads are cut off but you can guess). Maite says "I will unmask you, Jacinta, and the Linares as well."

Then Gustavo rolls in, to almost everybody's surprise! He tells Jacinta: "One time, when you thought I was in a coma, I heard you confess to murdering your own husband!"

There will, no doubt, be more revelations Monday night when the show's long, long run finally comes to an end.

Heridas de Amor, Thursday, September 28

We open with Bertha telling her dog that she came very close to making Gonzo go crazy wondering which of his daughters wasn’t his. She repeats her justification for destroying Gonzalo and his family is the fact that he rejected her. Squeaky comes in to her room crying having overheard Gonzalo say that he isn’t the father of one of his daughter and she is sure it is her. Bertha comforts her in a way that makes her feel worse.

Luciano comes to tell Alejandro that he has completed the purchase of a block of SLI stock and if he can buy Julio’s holdings, Al will own 49% of the company and can protect it from Sleazar’s evil plans. Luciano warns Al that buying Julio’s stock may be difficult since Sleazar and Julio have set up their own investment company and they are luring SLI customers away. Al is angry and tells Luciano to go to Rebeca’s house the next morning.

Squeaky tells Bertha that after the ceremony, she and Juan are going to Gonzo’s office to tell him about the marriage. ‘What! No honeymoon?’ exclaims Bertha. Squeaky says that Juan can’t take any vacation from the hospital and he doesn’t have any money. Bertha gives Squeaky some cash and tells her to tell Juan that it is her savings. It isn’t much but they could go to Acapulco. ‘What if he doesn’t accept it?’ asks Squeaky. ‘Keep it for something that you may need in the miserable life that it is awaiting you,’ responds Bertha.

Miranda calls the hacienda to say that she is coming there. Gabino says that the telephone equipment was destroyed so they can only communicate by cell phone. There is some stuff about harvesting the cacao crop but since bimbos in bikinis are not going to do it, I really don’t care very much about it. Miranda asks after Naty and Gabino tells her that Naty is talking about some tree near the river.

Luciano visits Julio and says that he will pay whatever Julio wants for his SLI stock.

Bertha goes to Sleazar’s apartment. She wants to buy SLI stock. She tells Sleazar that he has done all the damage to SLI that he wanted and now he should help her get Julio to sell her his stock.

Lasagna is dreamily eating her breakfast while Daira and Al quiz her about why she came home so late. She is unresponsive. Al and Daira are annoyed. Lasagna tells them to stop treating her like a child.

Carola comes into Amparo’s house. She is upset that Juan is not marrying her. She will always love him even though he can’t reciprocate.

Miranda and Pamela plan to go to the bank to confront the bank officer about the boycott on giving the family a line of credit. They have to have some money to harvest the cacao. Miranda says that maybe she should be completely self-centered like Squeaky but she can’t. She hopes Squeaky is happy.

Squeaky is not happy. Juan brings her to his house. She reacts like he lives in a mud hut. Veronica and Erica arrive with the wedding cake. Juan gives Squeaky a ring and she forces herself to say that she likes it while her friends giggle in the background. Amparo and Francisco arrive and Squeaky has a flashback to her snotty performance when she encountered them selling tacos outside the church. [This is someone who lives in Mexico City and she is disgusted by street vendors???] She won’t shake Francisco’s hand.

Al and Luciano are putting pressure on the bank officer to tell them whether it was Bertha who opened the account in Santiago’s name. All of a sudden Miranda comes in and says to Al, ‘You know Luciano?’ Uh oh. The banker saves the day by telling Luciano that he should wait outside until the banker is finished with Al’s business. Since they presumably are strangers, Pamela introduces Luciano to Miranda who is cold and to Al.

Amparo gives Squeaky a gift of a wedding dress and Squeaky is hard pressed to conceal her disgust. Veronica rubs in the shame of the situation while Erica looks troubled.

The banker says that he can’t remember anything about who opened the account in the name of his uncle. Al is annoyed but he can’t threaten the guy since he did him a favor with the Luciano situation. Once Al’s business is done, Miranda tells the banker that all national and international banks have been told not to give her a line of credit. She meekly accepts the banker’s statement that if he shows her the memorandum, he will lose his job. Outside the bank, Miranda says that she will sell her car, Flor’s car and maybe Squeaky’s to get money for the hacienda. Al says such extreme solutions aren’t necessary.

Vincente comes to see Gonzo. Gonzo had him try and get more time to pay for the light and telephone bills. Gonzo is more interested in where Fernanda is. Vincente tells him that she is performing open-heart surgery and may be busy for several hours. Gonzo tells Vincente to go back to the hospital and wait for her and bring her to him or he will go to her. He needs to speak to her urgently.

Squeaky puts on the wedding dress. Veronica goes to town mocking it. Squeaky says that it would be a fine dress for her servant. Amparo overhears this and tries not to cry. Squeaky thinks it might be better to leave before the judge comes. She has second thoughts – Juan loves her and she doesn’t want to hurt him. ‘You’ll hurt him more if he finds out you married him on a bet,’ says Veronica. Squeaky tells her to be quiet, Amparo might hear.

Gonzo goes to see Rebeca. He is angry and pushes her into a chair and yells at her. I think Gonzo found out that the father of Sleazar and Fab is Julio. Rebeca tells him that she hasn’t found a way to tell Julio about this. Gonzo says that Julio has the right to know. Rebeca says that she needs more time. Gonzo then asks her how she found out that Flor was not Gonzo’s child. Rebeca says that Fab told her. Gonzo says he wants to know how Fab and Bertha found out. Rebeca has a green memory of telling Bertha this very thing. She starts to cry, Julio comes in and scolds Gonzo.

At the exchange of vows, at first it appears that Squeaky stops the wedding and says she has made a terrible mistake. She can’t marry someone whose whole house is smaller than her bedroom. Juan says that they won’t be poor forever. Squeaky says that she can’t wait. But then it is clear that this is a fantasy. When the judge asks her if she takes Juan as her husband, she answers that she does and they are married.

Back at Rebeca's house, Gonzo says to Julio that he doesn't know if this is the last time he will see him but it is the last time he will be in this house. Gonzo wonders what happened between them when for generations before their families helped each other. Julio tells Gonzo that he changed when Fernanda left him and everyone had to pay for the damage that he believed she caused. Gonzo tells him not to invent stories.

Bertha brings out the briefcase that Al's father left at the hacienda on the night he was shot. She needs money to outbid Luciano for Julio's SLI stock and she will sell Alfredo Luque's jewelry designs to get it. She notices a hidden pocket in the briefcase and finds some papers. Reading them, she gets that self-satfisfied smirk. These papers will get her money and Al.

La Fea Más Bella #113 9/28/06 A Horse, A Waitress and a Drama Queen (I'm not talking about Pilar and Alica!)

“…but he’s a bronco.” And so begins our episode!

Fernando laments his misfortune. A bronco and a model who does not like horses!

Pilar shouts at her friend. She doesn’t want to film the commercial anymore. She fell off a horse when she was two years old. She doesn’t care that she promised. Her life and integrity come first. She’s not going to the commercial. punto…

Alicia attempts to enter the grounds where the commercial will be shot. The security guard wants to see her identification. Oh wait! He recognizes her. He brings out a black board with her picture on it. He’s been told that she’s “blacklisted.” Tomas wanders in around the van behind Alicia. He hides in the bushes and watches. The security guard tells her to move. She tells him that she’s not on the list because she is the model and received a late notice. The security guard doesn’t believe her and tells her to leave again.

Irmita calls Pilar who lays in her bed yelling at the phone that she’s not going because she’s scared. Irmita and Lola start to freak. Julieta asks if anyone will eat her mole if Pilar doesn’t show up. Martha assures her that it will definitely be eaten. Irmita yells at Martha. Fernando comes on the scene and asks what’s wrong. Pilar is not here! He asks Lety if Pilar didn’t show up because of last night. Julieta interrupts with some coffee. She keeps talking and Fernando tries to tell her thank you, but rush her off. Fernando says he’s going to “kill” someone. Why hasn’t Pilar shown up?

Erasmo watches as the men on the course practice their swings. The men try to explain to Erasmo that their money is working, even if they’re not. They ask Erasmo if he golfs. When he tells them no they try to explain the “art” of golf to him. He looks confused.

Sara stares at the security guard. Lola interrupts and takes the security guard’s sunglasses. Who knows what he’s looking at. Sara tells Lola how much she loves him. Lola tells her not to be crazy. Sara knows that she has an important chore to do, but she can’t help but to stare some more.

The tall guy tries to demonstrate a swing to Erasmo. (Not that his swing is all that great!) Erasmo approaches the ball with club in hand.

Fernando and Lety wander the golf course in front of a group of golfers. She’s trying to calm him and he wanders around with his head in his hands. Cut to Erasmo, who hits a golf ball… right into Fernando’s belly!

Juana serves coffee. The cuartel gathers. They talk about all their boyfriends. Martha mentions Lety and Tomas. They call themselves the cuartel of love! Julieta says nothing about Lety and Fernando not being a couple. (maybe she didn’t hear???) Paula Maria and Saimon show up, late again. Lola tries to give it to them, but neither seems to care. They’re here, and they’re ready to work.

Fernando hunches over and Lety asks him why she doesn’t hear him breathing. Erasmo approaches in the golf cart of his new friends. Fernando says he very well knows who he wants to kill now. Fernando sees that the other two golfers are friends! They ask where his father is. He tells them that his parents are in London. “The one in Europe?” Yeah. He asks them to continue to teach Erasmo golf. Lety sighs and runs after Fernando. The men continue to try to teach Erasmo golf.

Alicia parks outside a fence and gets out from her car. Tomas runs up to the back of the car and follows her. She puts her leg on the fence to climb it. “What legs!” Tomas exclaims. She decides she can’t climb the fence and gets back into her car. She sees a club car pass and gets a good idea. Tomas is left laying in the road.

Irmita continues to call Pilar. She’s still yelling at her phone saying she’s not going to film the commercial. Fernando watches Irmita and then goes on a tangent and repeats all the stuff Pilar said about being a professional the night before. He calls Conceptos. Alicia is not there and he wants to know why he pays her to answer the phones, and she’s not even in the office.

Alicia pulls up to the service entrance. She kisses her car good-bye and then runs over to the club car. Tomas follows her and accidentally shuts her inside the truck. She falls over and complains. She finds an outfit to change into. Tomas sneaks in beside the truck. Alicia changes into a maid outfit. She has a remembers a scene when she told the waitress that her soup is was cold. She berates the waitress for not bringing her hot food. She’s ashamed of where she currently is, but it’s all to get the money she needs. (Apparently, that's what they make the waitress wear. My bad!) Alicia finds her way outside of the truck. Tomas watches on as the truck driver and others ask her what she’s doing there. She says she works for the club. He tells her that the restaurant is very far away and the waitresses don’t usually use that entrance. She says she’s new. He says that’s okay. She starts to walk to the restaurant but goes the wrong way. The driver points her in the right direction. She complains about having to leave her other outfit behind.

Fernando did not learn his lesson about wandering on golf courses and he’s walking around the course again. Lety tries to calm him some more, but he keeps yelling about how it’s all over. He doesn’t have the right production team to deal with emergencies like this. The things that bothers him the most is the money. How are they going to pay it back if there’s no commercial! They’ll have to dissolve Conceptos!

Pilar’s phone continues to ring and she actually answers! Someone is yelling at her. She's mad because the person on the phone signed the contract, and she didn’t know that obligated her to go. (I’m assuming this person is her agent). She decides to keep it positive; after all, she gets to see Pavel. She’s absolutely sure that Fernando is Pavel!

Irmita tells Fernando again that Pilar is not there. The technicians come up and tell him that all the equipment is ready. He knows. He and Irmita go off with the technicians. Meanwhile, Martha tastes Julieta’s food. Julieta and Lety tell the cuartel about how good the food is. Everyone applauds. Julieta spazzes when she can’t find her green salsa. Erasmo comes up and asks if Fernando is okay. Erasmo tells her that his new friends have been teaching him to play golf. Everything boils over and freaks! Saimon gives a dramatic speech about Paula Maria and then runs after her. Saimon, Paula Maria and Lola talk on the cart path. He tells Lola that she’s freaking a little much just because of forgotten salsa. They asks where is Sara? Lola tells them that she’s with a tall man. They ask if she’s serious. Lola says he’s tall but he’s… You have to seem him to understand. They run off for Sara and her tall man.

Julieta has a nice dramatic novela moment about her forgotten salsa. Juana and Martha set her in a chair. “No puede ser! No puede ser!" I think this line is required for a show to be classified a novela. ;-) Lety runs off.

The technicians talk to Fernando about planning the shoot. Lety runs up and asks him for his cell phone. She says she’s going to call the model. Irmita follows her and Lety tells her about the forgotten salsa. She's not really calling Pilar.

Erasmo tries to calm Julieta and it almost works until Lety runs up and tells her that Tomas is not answering the phone. Erasmo says he’ll go home and get the salsa. The cuartel takes Julieta to the restroom to calm down. Lety doubts that her father will be able to return on time.

Sara tries to get Adolfo (or Rodolfo?) to make some kind of expression. She asks him a bunch of questions, removes his sunglasses and gets really close. Nothing works. Saimon, Paula Maria and Lola enter the scene. Paula Maria says he’s very handsome. Lola says sure, but he has no emotion whatsoever. Sara comes over and says watch this. She puts her hands in his coat and exclaims how strong he is. She puts his hands on her. Next she tries a joke about a gun. Nope! Looks like Sara is SOL. She goes back over to the cuartel for help but all they do is joke at her and the security guard's expense. Saimon thinks they should dress him up in a really tall black hat. Sara thinks Saimon is funny, but she just wants to seduce him.

Alicia walks up to the tent and spies on the scene. Lety, Fernando and Irmita talk around a table. Fernando wants to cancel the commercial. Lety protests. Alicia whispers to herself that she’ll save them! At that moment, Pilar arrives. Fernando gives Pilar and evil look. Pilar comes in and calls Fernando Pavel. Lety and Fernando remind her that his name is Fernando. Fernando tells Pilar that its not professional to show up late. She says that commercials always start filming late anyway! Irmita rushes Pilar off to the make-up area. Fernando mumbles about not liking Pilar but Lety reminds Fernando that Pilar is scared of horses, and they don’t really have another option.

Julieta laments her failure to bring all the food with Juana and Marthain the bathroom. Juana tries to cheer her up by doing some sort of native dance. She tells Julieta to do it too. Julieta laughs and says that she can’t. We’re treated to an Erasmo impersonation and more tears come.

Erasmo is doing his best to speed home. He even disrupts the police man and his "official business" with some chick. The officer pulls up next to Erasmo and tells him to pull over. The officer asks if Erasmo is driving so bad because of his age. (It’s not Sunday, Erasmo! Please keep all Sunday driving to yourself until then.) Erasmo explains to the police officer about the salsa. Erasmo appeals to him as a married man. The police officer lets him go and says he’ll follow him to the house. Julieta enters the tent feeling much better.

Gerardo (one of the technicians) is in the tent and Lety asks Fernando to tell him that Pilar is here now. Pilar is in the camper complaining. The make-up artists bites back. She decides to complain about the camper instead. She talks to Irmita and then goes back to complaining about her hair and make-up. Irmita says it’s the same style that she approved yesterday. Pilar says that was yesterday, and now she wants it all to be changed!

Will the horse bite Alicia?
Will the horse buck off Pilar? (Can you tell that I have high hopes for this horse?)
Have we finally met the female equivalent of Luigi?
Is Fernando's bad day finally over, or has it just begun?

Hasta Lunes amigos! Go Ohio State! -- I couldn't resist. :-)~
