Synopsis of "Llena de amor" (Full of Love) - upcoming novela

This is a remake of Mi gorda bella (My fat beauty); Llena de Amor will have its grand Univision premier on Monday, August 9, 2010

Despite having lived almost her whole childhood without the love of a family, Marianela (Ariadne Díaz) hasn't lost her smile, nor the sweetness of her character. After the death of her father, her aunt Freda (Azela Robinson) imprisoned her in a school with the pretext that her mother was an alcoholic and couldn't take care of her.

Years later, her mother dies in a mysterious accident and Marianela goes to live with the evil Freda.

Marianela is the victim of jokes and humiliations. Only her cousin Emanual (Valentino Lanús) treats her well and defends her, and Marianela can't help falling in love with him.

In time, Emanuel begins to feel a strong attraction towards her. Simply imagining them together drives Freda crazy and she decides to poison the girl with some chocolates apparently from Emanuel. When she finds out the chocolates Emanual gave her were poisoned, Marianela feels profoundly wounded and decides to go to Spain.

Months later, Marianela returns to Mexico - but the Marianela who left for Spain isn't the same as the one who returns, full of optimism and confidence in herself, determined to descover the truth and get back what belongs to her.

El Clon, Fri., July 23- Summary for Discussion

At the reception, Zein promises Said that he will bring Jade to Ali's house the next morning.

Tío Abdul tells Ali that he admires Cristina but thinks, 'si fuera un poco más gordita que llenara la cama... seria una reina,' if she could be a little curvier to fill the bed, she would be a queen.

Alej's fan section is ready for the fight but Alej is concerned that Nati isn't there.

Nati's high and dancing at a club. A cop asks for her id and then illegally searches her purse and finds a baggie with white powder, presumably cocaine.

Clara goes to the Chump's place to tell him about Fernando's drug habit. Naturally, he says that it is her fault for going out with young guys. Clara accuses the Chump of chasing after a homewrecker and being so selfish that he doesn't care about his son.

Fer tells Andrea that Nati has been arrested.

Lucas sneaks into the wedding reception. He and Jade start making goo goo eyes and smiling idiotically at each other as usual.

The cop who dealt with Marisa's necklace theft recognizes Nati as Leonardo Ferrer's granddaughter.

Alej is concerned that he can't reach Nati. Pablo tells him that his performance in tonight's bout will determine his place in the Nationals.

Andrea tells Fernando that they have to do something to help Nati. She suggests telling Alejandro. Fer replies that if Alej finds out he was involved in this, he will kill Fer. Andrea says that it is Fernando's fault that Nati is in trouble. Fer says that Nati did it on her own. She asked him to get drugs for her.

Alej is distracted by his concern for Nati and is not doing well in the fight. Pablo tells him to buck up. This is his big chance.

Dora seeks out Karla and tells her that she is Osvaldo's wife.

In prison, Osvaldo can't believe that Dora hasn't come to see him.

Alej wins the bout.

Andrea comes to the Ferrer house but Rosa tells her that Lucas and Leo are out of town. Marisa is in town but not at home. Andrea tells her that Nati has been arrested.

The fight promoter is impressed with Alej's bout and asks to represent him. The promoter says that he will support Alej financially and get him the best diet and training. But he says he is giving Alej a chance and there can't be any alcohol, women or problems. He has to be focused.

Said tells Mohamed that he knows the smart thing would be to let Jade go but he can't 'arrancármela de la piel,' rip her out of his skin. 'Prefiero seguir infeliz a su lado...que ser feliz y no tenerla,' I would rather be unhappy at her side than be happy and not have her, says Said.

It's off to the same hotel room as all the other weddings.

Zein tells Jade that he saw her in the medina the day he arrived and her image has stayed with him. He says that he wants to pretend that he really got married and follow the ritual to the end.

Dora comes home depressed but she hasn't told Estela about Osvaldo. Anita arrives to tell them that Luisa is on her way to Morocco. She asks to see a picture of Daniel about whom she has heard so much. On seeing it, she is impactada. [Does she know Lucas?]

Marisa returns home in one her uglier broccoli rubber bands and asks what is going on.

Rosa tells Marina that Nati was arrested.

At Gloria's, Alej gets a hero's welcome. Gloria tells him that, 'aunque nunca he estado de acuerdo, ni lo estaré, con las luchas, estoy muy orgullosa porque has ido detrás de sueño y lo conseguiste,' even though I don't agree with fighting and never will, I am proud of you because you followed your dream and achieved it. [Cristina and Gloria have become my two favorite characters in this novela. They started out loud and obnoxious but they have demonstrated that their hearts are in the right place.]

Marisa and Andrea go to the police station. The detective tells Marisa that Nati has been arrested for drugs. She says that it must all be a mistake.

The detective says no, they found a bag of cocaine in her purse and she had a fake id to buy alcohol. 'Además mire su estado, todavía está drogada,' But just look at her, says the cop, she is still drugged. Marisa bails Nati out, calls Lucas and tells him what happened. She says that she doesn't know what to do and that he has to come home. Lucas says that he will come.

Clara tells Enrique that she feels guilty that Fernando's drug habit is her fault because of the fighting in their house over her separation from Escobar. Enrique says that Fernando probably has a chemical dependency and it isn't her fault.

Nati accuses her mother of being a hypocrite by drinking and taking sleeping pills so that she doesn't have to face Nati or her father. Marisa says that she has never been in Nati's condition but Nati isn't listening.

Enrique says that people who have a chemical dependency have to quit cold turkey and they will always be surrounded by temptation.

Naturally, Marisa blames Nati's condition on Alej. Nati just wants to leave. Marisa tells Nati to go in the house or she swears... '¿Qué me jura, bruja?' You swear what, witch?' screams Natalia and says that she is fed up with being criticized and demeaned and that Marisa is ridiculous and superficial and that Lucas left her for another woman because Marisa is unbearable. Marisa turns and walks back into the house without a word. Nati demands money or the keys to the car. When neither Rosa nor Andrea obey, she walks away from the house.

Jade comes to Zein in a negligee. [Jade looks very beautiful here without so much eye makeup.]

He tells her that he likes the rituals of his religion but doesn't want to be tied to a wife. He won't demand to have sex with her; he has rented the adjoining suite, 'pero no quiero romper el encanto de esta noche,' but I don't want to break the enchantment of this night. He wants to wash her feet and have her dance for him like she would for the man she loves. Jade agrees.
Zein tells Jade that he hopes the night doesn't end because he only has this night to love her.

Said can't sleep. Ali says that it is fault and something profound about leaving doors open to the wind.

Zein asks Jade to make promises of love to him even though she won't keep them because, 'la religión de amor perdona las mentiras de la mujer amada,' the religion of love forgives the lies of of a woman who is loved.

Lucas is pacing in the restaurant waiting for Jade. She is supposed to come down when Zein falls asleep. Their flight leaves at six am and they have to be in the airport at 4. He can't miss the flight. Cristina tries to reassure him that there is still time.

The credits roll.

El Clon Thursday July 22: Summary for Discussion

[My local station lost Telemundo completely tonight – I still don’t know why, so I’m working from Youtube, that is to say, without a net. Corrections are welcome!]

Daniel is walking through the Medina smiling, touching everything, drinking it all in hungrily.

In Miami, Clara continues her painful conversation with Fernando about his drug use. As in previous episodes this is interspersed with Enrique’s monologues about his history of addiction. Clara confronts him with the changes in his behavior that are now jeopardizing his job and his education. He turns a deaf ear to her. Marijuana is not as harmless (inofensivo) as people think, she says. It leads to many things…(es la entrada para muchas cosas)… His response is a smart alecky:
Claro, la entrada al cielo. ¿Qué daño hace la marijuana?
Sure, the entry to heaven. What harm does marijuana do?
Clara slaps hims and says she won’t tolerate drug use in her house. She’s stopping his allowance: maybe if he has to spend his own money, he’ll think twice before wasting it on drugs. After he leaves, she thinks: I can’t do this alone. She calls his father. Unfortunately, Malicia answers. Clara asks her to let Escobar know that there are serious problems with Fernando. It’s urgent, she says, tell him to come to the house so we can talk about it.

Escobarde comes into the room where Malicia still has the phone in hand. Who was it? he wants to know. Tia Luisa, she says.

Pablo surprises Alejandro with the news that the date of his fight has been changed to accomodate bigshot Michael Gonzáles’s schedule. It’s now the day after tomorrow, not next weekend. Alej is unsure at first, but with a little encouragement from Pablo, decides that yes, he’s ready. He spreads the word, calling Gloria who says:
¿Quién me iba a decir que me iba a sentir tan orgullosa de verte luchar? Bless you baby!
Who would have said that I’d feel so proud to see you fight?
Nati is also proud of him. He tells her he wants her in the front row cheering him on.

In Fez, Zoraida tells Jade that Jadiya will be coming to Morocco with Latifa.
Just then Rania pays an unexpected call on Jade. She has decided she likes Jade’s room better than her own and she demands that they change rooms immediately. Listen honey, says Jade, this is my family’s house and my room and I’m staying put. But I’m pregnant, whines Rania. You can just take your pregnant tush out of here, says Jade. Well I’m telling Said what you said, harrumphs Rania and flounces out.

Enter little Zumaya. She has overheard Amina and Rania say they are deliberately baiting Jade so she will get in trouble with Said.

And indeed, Rania is downstairs bending Said’s ear about the mistreatment she received from Jade. Okay, okay, I’ll talk to Jade, promises Said.

Said asks Jade to humor Rania’s whims. You know how sensitive pregnant women are. Jade’s not buying it. If she’s not comfortable here, she responds, why don’t you take her to a hotel. Why do you always make everything so difficult? sputters an exasperated Said.

Sneaky Amina has been lurking and listening and now runs to Rania with the glad tidings that Said is scolding Jade. It turns out Rania has the same question some of us have entertained here: When Said remarries Jade, will she still be the first wife? I hadn’t thought about it, answers Amina.

Albieri is out with Ali and some of his men searching for Daniel in the ruins. You shouldn’t have let yourselves get separated, says Ali. I shouldn’t have done a lot of things, says Albieri

He needn’t worry, or at least about Daniel’s whereabouts. Daniel enters the hotel lobby. Lucas is there too…

Back in Miami, a happy Natalia shows up at Casa Ferrer. Rosa wants to know if Nati has talked to her parents. Doña Gloria cares about me more than my own mother does, says Nati. I wouldn’t be so sure of that, says Rosa. That woman had the nerve to tell me you were using drugs. Natalia wipes her nose, listens silently. You can’t trust that woman, concludes Rosa.

At the clinic, Luisa muses to Anita that maybe she didn’t know Albieri as well as she thought she did.

And in Fez, Ali and Albieri are walking through the Medina when Albieri gets a call: Daniel is in the hotel. Now I can breathe again, says Albieri.

At the hotel, Albieri is shocked to meet up with Lucas, even more shocked to hear that Cristina is in the same hotel, but relieved that Luisa isn’t with her.

Albieri finds Daniel waiting for him in the room. He scolds him for wandering away and then tells him to pack up. They are moving to another hotel.

¡Han traido luz y alegría a esta casa!
You have brought light and joy to this house! says the beaming Ali to the merry band just arrived from Miami. Mohamed announces his plans to arrange marriages for his children while they are there. Samira whispers to her mother that she won’t accept the idea of someone else choosing a husband for her.

Jadiya runs upstairs to find her mother.

Said is upstairs with Jade telling her she won’t be permitted to see Jadiya until after Zein has returned her to him. El libro sagrado dice… (The holy book says…) The holy book says nothing, retorts Jade. I know my rights and I know your rights and there’s no way you can keep me from seeing my daughter!

And right on cue, Jadiya runs in and throws her arms around her mommy. Then she turns to Said and asks: Is it true you’re going to have another child? Yes, he says, you’ll have a little brother or sister. I don’t want you to have a baby with Rania, says Jadiya. I asked you to return Rania and you didn’t do it. Jadiya tells Jade to be sure to marry her father again after she marries his friend. Lo que tú quieras, mi amor, lo que tú quieras (whatever you want, my love, whatever you want.) Said stares at the floor.

Lucas catches up with Cristina at the hotel and tells her he saw Albieri. And Cristina calls Luisa with the news: he was alone. Luisa is so relieved!
¡Voy a comprar un pasaje a Marruecos hoy mismo!
I’m going to buy a ticket to Morocco this very day!

Back in Miami, Estela is concerned that Dora didn’t keep her appointment with the doctor. She promises to reschedule it as soon as she’s taken care of a few things. And when is Osvaldo coming back from his trip? asks Estela. I don’t know, answers Dora, his mother is even sicker. Before Dora has to make up any more lies, the phone rings: she smiles as she listens and then says: Cristina ha encontrado a Daniel. (Cristina has found Daniel)

Daniel is in fact seated at a table in the Medina with Albieri trying to disentangle the lies Albieri has told him:
Papá, si yo nací de mi madre Dora, por qué no soy hijo suyo? No entiendo por que me dijiste que mi mamá verdadera se murió.
Papa, if my mother Dora gave birth to me, why aren’t I her son? I don’t understand why you said that my real mother died.
When we see my friend Ali, I’ll explain everything, says Albi, and then you’ll understand.

Ali’s house is filled with the joyful business of preparing for a wedding. The women are gathered together and a relaxed and happy Jade is attended to by a servant. (I think she is waxing her legs). Jadiya explains hair removal customs to Samira. Rania, looking vaguely Hare Krishna in her orange robe, observes grumpily: I don’t understand why she’s so happy. Even Latifa is puzzled by Jade’s radiant smile.

Abdul once again tells Said he’s making a big mistake. It’s too late for regrets, says Said.

Jade, gorgeous in her white bridal gown trimmed in gold, gold crown on her head, asks Zoraida: Did you get what I asked for? Allah, forgive me, says Zoraida, and hands Jade a small brown bottle.

Ali tells Jade that she is being given one last chance to hold on to Said’s heart and that she shouldn’t throw it to the winds.

Said reminisces about the day Jade was dressed that way for him and Mohamed replies that he prays for Allah to tear that odalisca out of his heart.

Ali asks Amin about his ideal bride and he describes Miss K and imagines her dressed in white.

And Ali’s parting shot to Said:
Si no te hubieras obstinado en tener negocios con los occidentales, no hubieras llevado a Jade cerca de Lucas. Y yo te lo dije. La soberbia es una trampa muy peligrosa igual que el orgullo.
If you hadn’t insisted on doing business with the westerners, you wouldn’t have brought Jade close to Lucas. And I told you so. Arrogance is a very dangerous trap and so is pride.

Rania complains to Amina that Said is jealous of Jade’s marriage to Zein. Said has even gone to the trouble of renting the room adjacent to the bridal chamber so Zein can slip out and avoid spending a night with Jade.

Jade looks radiant. Said looks miserable. And Lucas paces in the hotel dining room.

Zein explains to Cristina that she can’t witness the actual wedding because it is just for men. In fact, symbolically, he is marrying the bride’s uncle. What a waste, says Cris. I think I prefer the weddings on telenovelas!

And at the men’s ceremony, Zein looks appropriately solemn, Said looks even more miserable and Abdul shakes his head.

In the women’s room, wedding poetry is read for Jade as Latifa smiles, Rania looks surly and the Naz turns away in disgust. Then the witnesses from the men’s ceremony approach: Jade, do you accept Zein? I accept.

In the men’s ceremony, Zein asks the question of Ali who also accepts.

Jade enters and the bridal couple see each other for the first time. They do not appear to be disappointed. A dazzled Zein places a ring on Jade’s finger. Said – let’s say it together – Said glowers. And Rania watches him watching Jade.

Just outside the festivities, Lucas tells Cristina that the bride is Jade. She is impactada.

Abdul calls over Jasmin and introduces her to Mohamed. Fortunately Samira sees what is happening, alerts her mother, who marches up and says:
Ya le dijiste que soy la primera esposa y la única? él no puede tener más esposas, es en nuestro contracto.
Did you tell her that I’m the first and only wife? He can’t have more wives, it’s in our contract.

Back in Miami, Nati is rifling frantically through her bag. Her phone rings. It’s Alejandro wondering why she hasn’t arrived yet. I’m on my way, she says.

Another cut to Enrique and his story…

Nati calls Fernando and they arrange to go to meet their dealer.

In Fez, Lucas confides to Cris that he and Jade are planning to run away together. If they catch us, they’ll kill us. Please let Jade know I’m here and I’m ready.

Cris enters the party and sees the radiant Jade held aloft in the bridal chair.

Daniel and Albi are walking through the Medina when Daniel stops and bends over, as if in pain. It is a sense of distress (angustia)
…como si algo me fuera a pasar…como si tuviera que cuidarme de algún peligro.
...as if something were about to happen to me... as if I had to protect myself from some danger.
Albieri is upset. He wonders if what Daniel feels is a genetic memory of the severe injuries Lucas suffered in this very place where he fell off a roof (as he was trying to escape Said's men); or a premonition that Lucas is in trouble right now. When he comes out of his musings, he realizes that Daniel is gone and runs after him.

Lucas sits outside the party and waits.

Inside, Jade descends from the bridal chair and Zein introduces his friend Cristina. Cristina passes on Lucas’s message.

credits roll.

Corazon Salvaje 7/22/10 And the Trial Continues

Episode 109

We start off with a replay Aimee reminding Juan that she is the only one that can save him. He scowls at her. Cut to Reggie who is telling Nana that Juan is the only man for her.

The abuelos are trying to figure out what to do about Mariella. They think Jimena is not good for her and they need to get away.

Jimena is in the hut and Jacinta is comforting her. Jimena thinks she’s not important and nobody will care for her. Jacinta tells her that is not true. Do you think this woman is familiar? She doesn’t remember her family. She tells Jacinta something very strange happened when she was walking down the street. She saw a woman buying a carmel apple for her child and at that moment she had a memory of something similar happening to her. Wow! Jacinta is impressed but doesn’t know what that could mean.

Back at the courthouse Aimee has to ruin the moment with Nana and Reggie. Reggie says you again? She taunts Reggie about her bad luck with men. Nana tells Aimee that Juan is not like that. Talk to her fan because Juan is like all the others. Clemencia says she’d rather wait elsewhere so that the two sisters can rip each other’s hair out. Uh, I mean talk. Reggie wants to know what she’s doing there in the first place. Aimee says you have no right to ask me that. Reggie says oh but I do and whips out the little note Aimee wrote to Juan. Finally she is so busted. She holds the note up so Aimee can get a good look at it. You recognize this don’t you. Aimee asks her where she got it as she tries to snatch it from Reggie. It doesn’t matter where I got it but it does matter if I put this in the hands of Renato. She doesn’t think she’d really do it. It’s nobody’s fault but your own. Why would you send this to Juan? I’ve sacrificed everything for you. Aimee laughs. Whatever. You get to be with Juan that doesn’t seem like a big sacrifice. I’m his wife you hateful cow. His wife? Aimee finds that funny. I love him says Reggie. Aimee doesn’t care she just wants to know how that paper got in her hands. Aimee says that Juan loves her. Regina gives her back the note. You did it for Renato. For your love for Renato says Aimee. Renato comes up at that point and listens. Yes! Now hopefully he’ll find out what a lying Ho his wife really is. You love Renato with all your heart. Renato comes in and tells them the judge is back. Aimee says she’s not going to go back in because of everything that’s happened. Especially her madrina. It is such a scandal and it could kill her. We can only hope. Renato says something but it sounds like he has marbles in his mouth but it was something to the effect that Regina was as equal as he is and she will be in there because of her husband. If that isn’t right please correct.

Lulu shows up at Dr. Pablo’s and finds Colibri. She brings a huge basket of food for Remi. She hopes he likes it. She leaves. Colibri brings the food to Remi who is lying in bed. Colibri tells him that the beautiful girl from the casino brought him some food. He pushes Colibri away and says he doesn’t want it. He shouts at poor Colibri that he doesn’t want it don’t you understand? I don’t want anything from her. Poor Colibri.

Over at Raul’s house the abuelos are comforting Mariella. She assures them she feels much better. It is just to many emotions at once. Abuela thinks that Jimena is at fault. Mariella tries to assure them that it is not Jimena’s fault but the old bat won’t stop talking. What she feels for Jimena cannot be broken. Abuelo gets his 2 cents in there saying she’s not your daughter. You can’t feel for a stranger more than your own daughter. Mari says she has the same feelings but they are stronger. Jimena is not a stranger. She is like my daughter. Abuela says not to say this what would happen if Fake Angela heard this? I say who cares? Lulu shows up at the house. The Abuelos look at her funny.

Back at court Aimee tells Regina that for her information she’s the only one that can get Juan out of his situation. FF>> Aimee struts out with her fan fluttering. I think Regina would have felt much better if she had just popped her in the mouth. I know I would have. I hope that pie cart is picking up speed. It’s going to need a lot of speed if it is going to take out Aimee, Rod, and Leo all at once. Regina cries. I’m all for Regina but seriously she needs to stop all this sniveling. Grow a backbone girl!

Everyone files into the courtroom. Leo says she’s feeling better but she can’t believe he said she was a murderer in front of all these people. It was a bad moment. Yeah, because it’s all true. Raul talks about MdR and her mysterious disappearance. There is a lot of clanking in the background. He says the whole thing was just strange. Leo whispers something to Rod about the accusations in front of all these people. He tells her not to worry about it. She says she’s afraid. (Oh you should be. You should be very afraid.) Don’t forget you’re a Montes de Oca. Regina tells Renato she doesn’t want to go into the past. Renato thinks the past is the only way they can get this thing resolved. She doesn’t want to do it. He wants her to have confidence in him. That’s just stupid. How many times did she tell you she loves Juan and she wants to be with him? I’m about to FF>> him too every time he opens his mouth.

Back to Mari and her parents. They don’t like Lulu being in the house. Doesn’t Mari know where she works? Uh, she’s standing right there and can hear every word you little snots are saying. They act like she’s got cooties or something. Mari welcomes her warmly. She wants to show her her room and the kitchen. Lulu is uncomfortable and doesn’t want to cause any problems. She says don’t worry about it.

Apparently Filipe sucks at driving a coach too. He just got canned. Poor guy. I like him.

The Abuelos just don’t understand what is going on. They want to get back to Puebla so they can plan a long trip to Europe and get Mari away from Jimena so she can know her real daughter Fake Angela.

Poor Felipe sits on a bench and cries into his hat. He pulls out his handkerchief and it is full of flour.

Court is back in session. It’s Renato’s turn to speak. It is my intention to prove that the accused is a monster. Everyone groans. He says it wouldn’t be too cool for him to be set free. He can’t just go taking the law into his own hands. He’s a big fat loser and that is why I’m asking for the strictest punishment. The courtroom erupts. Somebody take Renato out back and beat the crap out of him. Please. Reggie is beside herself. The judge threatens that if people can’t conduct themselves appropriately the courtroom will be cleared. Everyone sits down. Reggie looks at Juan and thinks to herself that Aimee lied. Juan does love her. Juan thinks to himself that Reggie really loves him. Renato is thinking that they love each other. He looks dejected. Good. The judge says now they will hear from the accused. Juan says that he was only trying to get justice. Because in this town there is no justice for everyone. This is the reality and the intentions of my acts. I believe in the law. But in this law we are punished and nothing more. The law can accuse, can attack you for your acts. I am Juan del Diablo or according to my wife Juan de Dios. A woman I love and at this moment is in a difficult situation. I’ve committed a lot of acts. Everything I did was in the memory of my parents. I believe my actions were noble and just. It was never for my own benefit. It was for the benefit of others. Always. I’ve been called a thief, a bandit, and liar. But I have compassion for others. Renato asks permission to ask one more question. Uh oh...

You have confessed that you think the law isn’t just (? Help me out here.) Of course. Clanking of chains--something is stupid. It’s stupid that you declare yourself innocent.

Aimee made it home and takes out the note and looks at it. She reads the note. I love you. Your kisses your arms. Please destroy this note after you read it. She burns the note.

Renato is giving his closing arguments. All you can do is find him guilty. Noel stands up to give his closing arguments. He’s had a rough life. Juan de Dios--Juan Del Diablo is a strong force. Like a hurricane he changes everything in its path. He tells the jury that this is the time to make things right. In the name of Maria del Rosario and Juan de Dios San Roman--Justice. Don’t condemn him. The courtroom erupts as the fisher folk stand and cheer. Renato asks permission to question Noel. (What the heck?) He asks Noel if he is a man of the law. Noel says he only looks for truth for the accused. You know I said nothing but the truth son. So what is it that like about Juan del Diablo’s actions. Justice is superior. You know his whole story. The courtroom is going crazy and the Judge tries to get control. Good luck with that. Noel asks Renato to forgive him but he has to go with his feelings. The judge sends the jury off to deliberate. Court is adjourned. Juan and Reggie smile at each other as everyone files out of the courtroom. Noel comforts Regina.

Today Felipe is a carpenter. I bet that goes well--NOT. He gets a splinter. He destroys all the wood within reach. Now he’s getting lessons on hammering a nail. He almost swallows the nail. He tries to hit it with the hammer but he flies over his shoulder. FF>>

Juan sits in his cell with no shoes on. He has flashbacks of he and Regina on the boat under the stars. Their little party. Their kisses. Juan has a visitor. It’s the capitan of the coast guard boat. He tells Juan that a woman gave him a note to give to him but he didn’t know who it was. Juan immediately knows it is Aimee. Capitan says he has his unconditional gratitude and friendship. Someone yells in the background that the jury will be coming back in a few minutes. Maybe we won’t have to wait until Friday. Reggie is talking to the Boyz when Leo walks up and scolds Reggie for the scandal she’s caused. Yeah right. It’s Renato’s fault. Leo thinks it is real easy to blame others. Well you should know sister. You’re the queen of blaming others. It’s a big mess and you’re a big loser and there is no remedy for it. She excuses herself to go be with her husband. Why does she wear that goofy scarf on her head. Renato comes up to Leo and says this is the time for him to win the heart of Regina. ( Do I even have to say what I‘m thinking?) Leo thinks he has more important things to do. FF>>

The judge walks in. Juan is brought to the box. The judge asks the jury if they have a verdict. They are really drawing this out. The foreman gives the verdict to the bailiff. The judge looks it over very slowly. Regina looks like she’s going to pass out. He reads from the paper. NOT GUILTY. Woo hoo! I’m doing a little happy dance but you can’t see me. Everyone is happy except for Leo, Rod and Renato. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of people. Juan thanks the judge and is given his papers. He sits on the steps. Reggie is blocked from coming to him but Noel says to let her pass. They embrace and cry tears of happiness as do I.

Dinero #159- 7/22/10: A War In Iraq! Who Knew?! or Blame It All On Chavez

Marian has arrived at Rafa’s house early in the morning to make him an offer. She can’t stop thinking about him. (She takes his hand.) She wants him. (Rafa starts to get uncomfortable and Marian starts to back off.) Errr…she wants him to come work for her. Rafa explains about the resume debacle and needing to stay at Siglo till the end of the month. Marian will wait. Rafa accepts the offer. He's all hers.

Marco and Rubi also have an early breakfast meeting at a restaurant. She is ticked that he and Chavez sent her to that awful place with bombs falling everywhere. Marco innocently claims he didn’t know there was a war in Iraq. “Who knew?” He places the blame on Chavez, since it was his idea. Whatever. Rubi wants to talk business, and specifically about the hacienda. She’s more interested in it than ever (uh oh). And she wants to live there with her Georgie. Marco tells her that’s impossible because Jorge doesn’t even have a house now, much less the hacienda. Rubi departs, but first lets Marco know that she’s going to check if his story is true. If not, he’ll find out what she’s capable of!

Marco’s soul mate Chavez (if either of them had a soul) has just landed in Mexico, disguised as a bearded, turbaned Arab to throw the po-po (that’s police for those not in the know) off his scent. He calls Marco up. “I’m here!” He tries out his fake Arab accent and gets five pesos from a passerby for his efforts. He tells Marco that he has to see him right away, he will meet him at Marco’s apartment , and hangs up before Marco can say anything to stop him. Marco rushes off to divert Chavez before he ruins things for him with Ale’s family.

As everyone arrives at Autos Siglo, Marino is assuring them that there’s a new boss in town and they’ll all know soon enough. He threatens Dandy that he’ll be the first one to get the boot. The sales team wants to know what Marino knows, but he tells them cockily to have patience. Just then Ale breezes in, looking very lovely and relaxed for someone who’s supposedly just gotten axed. Marino tells the team that she’s likely just there to pack up her stuff.

Ale greets Susana and finds out that Rafa is already there and wants to start the sales meeting as soon as Ale arrives. Susana goes to rally the troops to the sales meeting room. Marino insists that they don’t have to go to any meeting run by Rafa and Ale. Ale walks up just then and tells the whole sales team that Marino is right. They don’t HAVE to go anywhere, but she tells Susana to prepare the paperwork for disciplinary action for all of them. Everyone, except Marino, starts to make their way quickly to the sales room. Rafa comes out and wants to know what’s the hold-up. Ale tells him about Marino’s mutiny and Marino starts to get indignant and up in Rafa’s face. Rafa stands his ground and gets right back in Marino’s face. Soon both their jackets are off and they’re ready to rumble. The sales team holds them back and Ale tries to reason with them to stop.

The fight ends with them both putting their jackets back on and Marino putting everyone on notice that Rafa and Ale will be fired soon and he’ll be the boss. Ale tells him that she and Rafa are indeed the bosses. Marino walks off muttering, “We’ll see.” He runs into Beltran’s office whining like a five year old and annoying the heck out of Beltran. Beltran informs him that Rafa and Ale are leaving at the end of the month, giving him enough time to find reasonable replacements (sorry Marino, that means it’s not you). Beltran kicks him out of his office telling him to go do his job, meaning sell some cars and make Beltran some money, money, money.

Back at Marco’s place, he’s just managed to catch the still disguised Chavez before he enters the apartment where Rosario and Jorge are having breakfast. He hustles Chavez away just before Rosario and Jorge open the door. It seems that Rosario knows the voice of that slime Chavez and is sure she heard it. Jorge wonders if she’s starting to imagine things and has her hold up four fingers, which HE counts (lol!). He declares that she’s fine and they go back into the apartment. Marco and Chavez return to the hallway in front of the door and Chavez declares that his voice is distinctive like the late Pavarotti’s, and that’s why Rosario recognized it. Marco doesn’t buy that, and neither do we. They go elsewhere to talk. They head to their favorite bar where Marco explains all that has happened with Ale and her family, the house, and their moving in to his place. Oh, and Chavez has been fired as administrator of the hacienda and Marco’s taken over. Chavez quickly catches on that Marco has stabbed him in the back and laid all the blame for the mismanagement of the hacienda on him. He is not happy with his soul mate. Marco claims they have bigger problems right now. Both Quintana and Rubi want a cut of their depreciating resources. Marco needs Chavez help to solve these problems. Chavez pouts and wonders how he can be of any help, now that he’s been cut off from his ATM (the hacienda). Marco gives him some cash and tells him to get to work. He then calls Rubi after Chavez leaves.

Rubi just happens to be having a meal with Quintana, getting the real scoop on what’s been going on. They are both sure that they have Marco and Chavez just where they want them, in the palm of their hand. When Marco calls, he tells Rubi they need to talk business. Quintana immediately then receives a call from Chavez telling him that they need to talk business. Quintana and Rubi agree that they will make Chavez and Marco pay dearly for all they have done (especially sending Rubi off to that war zone).

When Quintana and Chavez meet, it appears that Chavez is hurt enough to switch sides. He tells Quintana that Marco is not to be trusted. Quintana is all ears. Marco’s and Rubi’s meeting is not so easy. She wants what she wants, and that’s Jorge and the hacienda. Marco distracts her by telling her what bad shape Jorge is in. A concerned Rubi wants to know what happened to her Goergie. “Que tiene? Has he said something? Has he asked for me?” Rubi wants to go see him right away at the apartment. Marco slows her down by reminding her that the ladies of the household won’t be so happy to see her. And they can’t meet at the hacienda either. It’s in as bad of shape as the bombed out houses in Iraq. Marco will take care of setting up a meeting with Jorge. “Trust me.” Rubi is not so keen to trust Marco again after what he did to her. “It’s not my fault. It was Chavez!”

Back at Siglo, Ramirez and the rest of the crew want to know if the rumors are true that Ale and Rafa were fired. Rafa, surprisingly, decides to tell the truth (at least part of it) to stop all the rumors before they get worse. He admits that there were untruths in his resume about his education and degrees, and that Ale is suffering the consequences since she hired him (he says nothing about her being the one to make up the resume), and they are both leaving at the end of the month. After the meeting Claudia gives them both a Judas kiss and tells them she will miss them both. Bebe’s same sentiments are actually real, and the General thinks they’ll all survive. Ale tells Rafa sarcastically that he better start searching for a new job, because she knows marrying Vicky Vicky Vicky won’t be cheap. Rafa one ups her by letting her know he’s already found another job, and walks off. Ale and Susana are left open mouth impactada.

Susana lets Ale know that she failed at her attempts to get Dandy to talk. Ale guesses that whatever Rafa’s group of amigos has going on is pretty serious. Susana doubts that Nelson (Dandy) could ever do anything to hurt her. Ale thinks they need to get the information out of Jimenez or Pepeto. Outside, the Four Amigos meet to discuss the latest plan (while Dandy keeps a steady pace on the revolving car pedestal). They remind Rafa that time is running out, and he’s still got to put a stop to his wedding and Ale’s wedding. And now he’s lost his job too. Rafa lets them know he’s already found another. And it’s with Marian Celeste. The boys are impressed, “Ay, mamacita!”

Rafa pleads with Dandy. He’s his only hope. “I’m in your hands.” Dandy doesn’t want to do anything that will hurt his relationship with his Nonicita. “If my Noni finds out, then we’re through.” Rafa assures him that he’ll cover for him. He hands him Carmela’s address.

When Dandy arrives at Carmela’s office, he finds her busy at work with her usual retinue of female assistants. All work stops though as soon as she catches sight of Dandy. Carmela likes what she sees and so do her assistants. “How can I serve you?”, she purrs. Dandy drops some lie about representing a company that will help her improve her archiving system. Carmela wants whatever he’s selling, unfortunately she’s just about to leave for a business trip. If he leaves his business card, she will definitely call him as soon as she gets back and they’ll check out that archive system together. “No business card? Well just lean over my desk here and write down your name and number.” One of the assistants takes this opportunity to squeeze Dandy’s Charmin. Carmela has Dandy make a very SLOW exit, while she and her assistants take time to appreciate the view. Carmela swears that she won’t let him escape her. When a not so guapo guy then comes into her office asking about the Hacienda Alejandra, he doesn’t get such a warm greeting. (Who is this guy and what’s going on with the hacienda now?)

Jaime has a chat with his buddy Jesus. It’s either sin (lying to Rafa and everyone), or death (at the hands of Rafa and Vicky’s brothers). “What do I do? Answer me!”

Susana’s also wrestling with doubts. She remembers Ale’s words about Rafa and his amigos and their “perversions” with women (toying with them). She goes into Rafa’s office wanting to know Dandy’s whereabouts, since he has an appointment with a client. Rafa is a terrible liar, and tells her that Dandy is with another client, Ortiz. When Susana calls the supposed client Ortiz, she quickly finds out that this is a lie. Susana immediately goes to Ale with her doubts. Ale of course fuels the fire, detailing Rafa’s and his friends’ perversions. Susana tearfully says that if it’s true, she’ll NEVER forgive Nelson (uh oh).

Susana later confronts Rafa about the truth about Dandy. Rafa explains that they are not up to no good, but Susana is done listening if he’s not going to give her a real explanation. When Dandy arrives she gets more upset and heads to Ale’s office, leaving a perplexed Dandy and an exasperated Rafa. When Rafa explains to Dandy what happened, Dandy is panicked. He does not want to lose Susana and sees the only way to avoid that being to tell Susana the whole truth. Rafa stops him and asks for more time, but Dandy draws a line in the sand. Either Rafa tells Ale the whole truth right now, or Dandy tells Susana!

Tomorrow: Marco arranges a meeting between Rubi and Jorge, who look very happy to see each other. Rafa blurts out some hard truths about Marco to an impactada Ale.

Corazón Salvaje WED 2010-07-21: 'Justice League: Juan del Diablo Special Edition (Blu-blood ray) ($30 pieces of silver, 2-day shipping in Caribbean)'

Episode 108

In the plaza, Salma bitterly accuses Mariela of returning to Veracruz just so she could meet Jimena behind Salma's back. Shouting she has no doubt now that Mariela doesn't love her or accept her as her daughter, Salma charges away, with the desperate grandparents calling her back.

The grandmother turns to a protesting Mariela and exclaims they thought she didn't want to see this gypsy girl any more -- who so mistreated "Angela!" Clinging to Mariela's side, Jimena explains it wasn't she who mistreated her, but the other way around.

Because she trusted Salma, she continues, Jimena was sold to the tavern by Griselda. The grandfather steps up and points out even were that true, Jimena doesn't belong to them in any way. He doesn't know why Jimena insists on causing them problems and bothering "Angela" -- who is their granddaughter.

Earnestly Jimena levels with them that Salma is a bad person who she thinks is lying and deceiving them. When the grandmother asks for proof, though, Jimena unfortunately has none; and who knows, she begins, maybe her aunt Griselda... But the grandfather interrupts and surprises Jimena, informing her that Griselda left with the other gypsies.

With court in recess, Regina remains sitting in the empty chamber with tears on her cheeks after reading Aimee's note to Juan, when Renato approaches her. How long is she going to let this go on! he demands with outstretched arms. She launches herself at him, declaring the only thing she wants is to save Juan; and yes, even at the cost of herself and everything.

Renato regroups and approaches her, holding her arms and lowering his voice. The only thing he's interested in, he says, is saving her from the hands of this barbarian. He tries to touch her face, but she flinches away. When Renato says it's enough for him just to know she and Juan were never intimate, Regina's head comes up, and she impatiently reminds him that she's not in love with Renato any more.

Renato doesn't believe her; the heart of a woman like her doesn't change so easily, he says, shaking his head no. He admits he was stupid not to recognize her love; she's not going to convince him that her rejection is anything but a mask in a moment of anger. He admits he deserves it. But afterward, he begins...

Afterward, nothing, Regina finishes. Afterward will continue just like it is now, she corrects him. When Renato insists in confusion that how could she be sure -- she told him herself she married Juan feeling repulsed, Regina tries to explain that Juan's love and jealousy made her change.

But this only confuses Renato more; and like a sudden cold draft blew in, he steps back, asking "his love? jealousy? love for whom? jealousy of whom?" Regina knows she misspoke and looks nervous, as Renato dogs her, asking if she didn't tell him the whole truth. He grabs Regina and shakes her, demanding that she answer him. Answer him! he insists.

Isn't it in fact, Regina gestures to herself, that I don't matter to you? That you're only thinking about Aimee? You never change, with your anger and jealousy; you're confused about your feelings. Renato has the good grace to look abashed but pleads that she doesn't understand him.

A man would understand him; he's not confused. Aimee is his wife and the mother of his child, even though he doesn't love her, because he can't stand any more betrayal or lies -- but it's a matter of honor! Oh, yeah, Regina responds, rolling her eyes; everything is a matter of honor with the Montes de Oca!

Never mind feelings or anything, she says exasperated, as she rounds by him, walking past. You're a Montes de Oca, he reminds her, turning with her; but Regina denies it. You're wrong, she says; I'm Juan's wife. And for the time being, I wear his name. For God's sake, Renato, she begs in desperation; why doesn't he give up this hopeless battle to hurt Juan?

It's too late, Renato claims; a Montes de Oca never retreats, even if the road leads into the abyss. Between himself and Juan there will never exist mere indifference; the erstwhile affection they had has turned into mortal enemies. Destiny has brought them together; and there can be only one, so that the other survives. Regina can only stare at him in dismay.

Back in the plaza, Jimena tries to explain to the grandparents that Griselda couldn't have gone with the gypsies, because the band rejected both her and Servando. But the grandfather has had enough of the whole situation and bids Mariela run after "Angela" and stop her before it's too late, which she does.

Then he tells Jimena that he has nothing against her, but they don't want to lose their granddaughter because of her. The grandmother details how Jimena first lied to Gabriel, then to them and now she's lying to Mariela! Jimena's truth-challenged past returns to haunt her. The grandfather pleads that if she cares for them at all to please leave Mariela alone.

At Dr. Pablo's, Remigio lies recuperating from his amputation, torturing himself with the images of Lulu at the casino that broke his heart. Colibri enters and, seeing tears running down Remigio's cheeks, asks if he's in pain. When Remigio gulps and answers that he is, Colibri offers some pain medication; but Remigio tells him there's nothing that can help his pain.

Jimena stands alone in the plaza after the grandparents leave, but she is not sad. A dawning sense of joy passes over her face as she recalls the happy accident of running into Mariela a few minutes earlier. She thinks happily to herself that Mariela has forgiven her and still cares about her, despite Salma's jealousy and envy.

Nearby, a mother buys a candy apple from a vendor and gives it to her toddler daughter, and suddenly Jimena is transported back to a memory of another mother giving another daughter a candy apple. Present-day Jimena in color circles around the sepia-toned image of an earlier time, staring intently at the girl and the woman, who looks like Mariela.

The mother whispers sweet nothings to the little girl, how she loves her, how nice; and together they repeat the phrase, "little eyes of heaven," patting their fingers together on the cadence of the syllables -- just as Jimena did by herself only a little while ago. And they laugh and giggle as grown-up Jimena looks on, mesmerized and moved, a tear sliding down her cheek.

Our brave and valiant Phillip now tries the baking profession; but after clipping the edge of a huge bowl of flour and sending a white cloud floating over the entire room and occupants (among other transgressions), the master baker decides to clock Phillip out early with a rolling pin. Outside Phillip strikes baker off his list, but spies the livery trade next.

Back at the empty courtroom, Regina wonders at Renato feeling so much hate for Juan. When Renato insists Juan humiliated him, Regina points out it wasn't his fault. Whose then? Renato asks. Cue Aimee, who enters the court room at the head of the rest of the gallery, reassembling in anticipation of the trial resumption.

When Renato asks what she's doing there, Aimee claims she was going crazy at home wondering what was happening. Renato sounds displeased; but Regina wants her to stay for some reason, so when Aimee makes to leave again claiming second thoughts about seeing Juan, Renato grasps her arm. She came for something, so she stays, he insists.

She resists, and Renato is just shouting YOU STAY!, when Leonarda, Rodrigo and Noel enter the courtroom together. None of them seem to enjoy seeing Aimee there. After a moment the bailiff announces all rise, and the judge enters and orders Juan brought to the dock again. When he appears, a sweet look passes between Juan and Regina -- and then a challenging one between him and Aimee.

Regina and Clemencia both rise and join each other outside the courtroom doors, having not met since Regina returned. They agree that the Virgen del Carmen protected them all during the trip, including right up till where Renato captured Juan, unfortunately.

When Regina regretfully explains that Renato pursued them supposedly for Regina's own good but only succeeded in destroying their lives, Clemencia is confused. Regina delights Clemencia by relating that instead of making her life miserable, Juan treated her well, conquered her heart and showed her the true face of love.

Regina tells her that love for Renato was just an illusion, and Juan made her forget about him. Unfortunately, though, she's also disillusioned with Juan: she's gone from the highest heights to a bottomless pit after seeing him and Aimee together kissing in his cell, Regina says. Clemencia's disgusted with Aimee seeking out Juan while pregnant by Renato; and Regina weeps to think they still love each other.

Jimena remains basking in a haze of happiness over Mariela, when suddenly Servando happens upon her in the plaza and tries to abduct her. He's still in Fulgencio's bad graces over the identity of an unknown betrayer, which Jimena predicted from reading his palm. Jimena decks Servando with a bouquet of flowers, and a chase ensues.

Meanwhile, Mariela catches up at home with a furious Salma who gives her the ultimatum of leaving for Puebla immediately or never seeing her again. During a screaming argument while Salma is packing, Mariela is overcome and faints. The grandparents arrive and send the maid for Dr. Pablo at the trial. Salma gives the grandparents the same ultimatum as Mariela, and a moment later a look passes between them when a semi-conscious Mariela moans for Jimena.

Servando chases Jimena over hill and dale, cliff and river; and Jimena sees her chance when an apparently empty carriage stands in the middle of the road. She ducks inside and gives the driver the signal, and they're off. Servando pulls up short, not able to figure where he lost Jimena.

The couple who hired the driver argue about who's at fault, and the lady says that the fellow seemed so nice and pleaded that he needed the work. Down the road, when Jimena wonders who the driver is, of course we see it's hapless Phillip. She signals to stop and jumps out quickly, before either she or Phillip see each other. I hope Phillip doesn't wind up charged with theft of the carriage!

Back outside the courtroom, Clemencia tries to convince Regina that Juan surely does love her; but Regina's sure the only one around there who's loved is Aimee. Inside the trial resumes, and it's Juan's turn to speak. He wants to address the Montes de Oca family first. They may be one of the finest families, he says, but Rodrigo Montes de Oca hates him, because Rodrigo was in love with Juan's mother, and she rejected him!

She rejected him for a common fisherman, and for that he determined to see them destroyed! The courtroom is abuzz from factions right and left as Juan and Rodrigo lock eyes. Juan saw his father destroyed by the power of a man, he says -- by Rodrigo Montes de Oca! And he used that power to buy the sheriff, who was to chase down and make sure his father was dead! The sheriff sits in the gallery, stone faced.

Juan turns to the judge and demands whether it's justice when a powerful man buys off the authorities to kill a common fisherman -- or any human being! Sobbing, he asks if it's justice when a boy holds his own father in his arms as he lay dying! Turning to Rodrigo, Juan grits out, just for power and pride of a human being who can't bear rejection or that someone wouldn't love him!

Rodrigo jumps to his feet, shouting This is an outrage! But the judge reprimands him, insisting that Juan has the floor. The judge bangs his gavel against the din erupting in the court, calling for order. Rodrigo will sit down and be quiet or be removed, he says.

Juan next comes to Leonarda, whom he emphasizes, is his aunt! His aunt by virtue of being the sister of his mother. She's accused him of threats and asked the maximum sentence, that he be condemned to life. But let me ask again, he says, isn't it a crime to wrench a sister's newborn baby from her arms and order it be thrown into the jungle to be devoured by wild beasts! Leonarda's mouth drops open.

Would that be a crime? he shouts. Wouldn't that make her a murderer? Leonarda shoots out of her seat, screaming LIAR! LIAR! Meanwhile, not far away, Aimee seems to be enjoying herself at this spectacle by the look on her face. Noel not so much. Everybody is yelling, especially the fisher folk.

Leonarda is still calling Juan a liar; the judge bangs his gavel and shouts at her for silence, and then bids Juan continue. Juan sobs and pleads that he may be accused of being a bandit or thief; but he accuses the family of MURDER! Because they killed his parents -- and tried to kill him! he shouts, gesturing to himself as best he can in shackles.

And so WHO deserves the worse punishment? They or I! Juan looks to the jury, and Aimee looks strangely curious. All the fisher folk are on their feet, yelling; poor Noel is a complete rock, hardly moving a muscle; and Leonarda is slowly passing out. Renato calls for Pablo, and they lift Leonarda out of her seat.

Jimena arrives breathless at Jacinta's beach shack and explains that Servando was chasing her, that Griselda supposedly left with the gypsies and that she's happy Mariela forgave her and still cares about her; but that Salma is working against her, and not only she but also Inéz and Alberto, the grandparents. Alberto doesn't want her to come back, even though Jimena cares a lot for Mariela and wants to go on seeing her.

Outside the courtroom, Clemencia says she thinks Regina's imagination has carried her away; but Regina insists she carried herself away, to an impossible dream that was all an illusion. Juan will always be that; whereas she is nothing, Regina says, sobbing; I'm nothing, nana! Regina embraces Clemencia and repeats that it was all a dream. A dream she just awakened from.

The family men help Leonarda into the judge's chambers so the doctor can look at her, and the judge calls a recess. Meanwhile, with Renato absent, Aimee sees the perfect moment to sneak a word with Juan, left standing in the dock. They whisper with their heads together, Juan crouched down peaking through the ballustrade, chains clanking.

She loses no time once again implicating Regina in his capture, but Juan just brushes that off. Does she mean that Regina is the same as she herself? Juan asks. Well, she's wrong; he insists that Regina does love him. Aimee reminds him that it's to both their advantages if he doesn't say anything about their past together. They have to prevent Renato leaving her, she says, and him losing Regina forever.

Regina continues explaining to Clemencia her change of heart; what surprised her most was how quickly she forgot about Renato. He's just a shadow in her heart. She doesn't love him any more, and it even surprises her to think that she ever did! His face just disappeared from her thoughts, whereas Juan's grows stronger every day, as though branded in fire, she says, with a kiss on her wedding band. But she's not blind, and she saw the truth herself.

In the dock, Juan asks again whether Aimee wants him to believe Regina is the liar and hypocrit she herself is? Aimee demurs and just answers that the Montes de Ocas will do anything for those they love. Regina is loyal to her love for Renato, she says, like she is to Juan. Juan tells her to beat it; and she doesn't want Renato to see her together with Juan anyway, she says. Why don't you leave me in PEACE, he pleads.

Oh, how ungrateful he is, Aimee says. Don't forget: the one who can save you can also bring you down, she threatens. If he implicates her, she's going to be a nasty enemy; and he doesn't want that, she insists. Juan grabs her wrist through the bars and jerks her against them. You don't frighten me one bit, he whispers. What I want most is your sister; you already lost, he says, loosing her wrist with a jerk. Aimee blows Juan a kiss, saying she doesn't believe him.

Finally, Regina continues wallowing in self pity, moaning to Clemencia that Juan goes on loving Aimee. With a heavy sigh, she says it's a forever love, his only love. Through tears she can't stop saying forever, forever, forever...

Dinero #158 7/21/10 “Surprise!!! It’s me!!”

This was fun tonight. Most of the excitement came towards the end of the show with two surprise visits of the female persuasion. One to Marco and one to Rafa. Jaimie got some startling news in the way of test results. Marino and Ramirez did some more male bonding. We find out Jorge walks in his sleep and Claudia, well we will get to that and Dandy gets kicked out of Susana’s for not spilling the beans. So settle in, I feel a long one coming on.

Our last nights rehash was with Marco and Ale. It was worth it just to see Ale make that awful face when Marco tried to kiss her goodnight.

Then we head over to Rafa’s house where the family is all sitting around the table. The doorbell rings and it is Vicky. Every one scatters leaving poor Jaimie alone to deal with her. Rafa tells Jaimie to tell her he isn’t there. Vicky marches in with her stacks of magazines and lists of wedding preparations. She wants to know where Rafa is. Jaimie says what he was told to say and tells her Rafa is still at work. Vicky has a little fit thinking he is with that witch Ale. Jaimie assures her he is not. Vicky calms down, after all the best man is there and she can go over the wedding plans with him. Jaimie is stuck as Vicky talks menus, and vows and invitations. Jaimie assumes there will be lots of meat on the menu.

Ale and Tia Rosario are reassuring Jorge that everything will be okay. If they don’t get a good offer on the hacienda she won’t allow them to sell it and them end up empty handed (quadar con los manos vacias). She will just have to put on her boots and overalls and even milk the cows herself if she has to (ordena las vacas). She tells him not worry. She pleads for a smile from him. Poor Jorge is so depressed. He doesn’t know what he is going to do.

Rafa is listening at the door as Vicky reads her wedding vows to Jaimie. Vicky tells Jaimie “This is what Rafa will say. I Rafael promise to be faithful in thought and action until death do us part. I swear that I wont be unfaithful with anyone even in thought, in the office, in the street in the house and I promise I won’t look at another women that is not you. “ The vows continue to say that if he does not follow through with his commitment he will have to answer to god and to his father-in law (suegro) and broth-in-laws (cunados). Upon hearing this behind closed doors Rafa gets quite rightfully nervous. Jaime tells Vicky that those things can’t be said at the wedding. Vicky reminds Jaimie that if Rafa won’t write his own vows than he is stuck with these. She then screams at him and tells him to pay attention.

She goes on to read her vows. “ I Vicky La Parra promise to be faithful all my life in thought and action until death do us part, but if he asks I will be faithful for all eternity because I am incapable of breaking a promise (faltar / go back on ones word or principles). Jaime has a hard time believing this and tells her to not be absurd. He tells her what she is saying is crazy. Rafa seems puzzled upon hearing this as he continues listening in. Vicky pulls Jaimie over and tells him that her vows of fidelity are not crazy. “I will carry them out (voy a cumplir). Or do you think I will do this again” as she grabs hold of him and goes in for a kiss. Rafa seems quite confused only hearing this and not winessing the kiss and does the crazy sign. Jaimie has pulled away and is twitting out as Lenora walks in and reminds them it is late and she should be going. Vicky hands Lenora the wedding invitations for their side of the family and leaves.

Lenora enters Rafa’s room and tells him Vicky left the invitations for them. She is worried that Rafa is not taking his wedding with Vicky very seriously and that it is pretty late to be thinking about other things. He tells her to not call anyone in the family about the wedding. She blesses him sadly and says goodnight.

After Lenora leaves Rafa is left alone in his room and flashes back to when he was on the phone with Pepito giving seduction lessons for Carmella and was caught by Ale. (Not his finest moment.) Ale is standing in her cute green striped pajamas below her mother’s picture asking for her help. “Who did I fall in love with? Who?” “Enlighten me, enlighten me“ as she gives this a little more thought than says, “but not so I end up getting burned". (iluminame pero que no me vaya a quemar.)

Our “bro-mates” (Marino and Ramirez) have entered every body’s favorite bar. They are discussing Marino’s relationship with Sandra. All he wants out of it is a daughter. Ramirez worries about what will happen with the rest of his women and children. Marino changes the subject and tells Ramirez he can’t stay at his apartment forever. He doesn’t get why his mother would kick him out of the house for just looking at girlie magazines. After all he is a grown man. Ramirez tells Marino that his mother is very conservative. His father left them and he was raised to be an honorable man. Marino tells him to not be a mama’s boy. Than Marino tells him it is time to toast his new boss. He goes on to explain how Rafa’s resume was falsified. Ramirez can’t believe this. Rafa and Ale will be out of there.

Dandy and Susana are at her place. He is going on about the great supper. Three lettuce salad and artichoke salsa ( ensalada de tres lechugas and salsa de alcachofa. ) She chides him for not opening his mouth except to eat. Dandy tells her he can’t tell her anything. It is a secret between friends. She tells him that couples don’t keep secrets. Dandy tells her he isn’t. She says than why can’t you say anything about what you say with the “three happy friends” (Tres alegres compadres). Dandy smiles as she says this and Susana tells him that is what her and Ale call them. He tries to get friendly with her and she shoots him down. But if he was willing to tell her what he talks about with Rafa she would be more than happy to show him a new form of making love, “the inverted pleasure of Venus“ ( Placer de Venus invertido). Dandy gets the “ spinning thyroid eyes” as she continues to whisper in his ear. That’s if he talks. If he doesn’t, he is out of there. More discussion later in the evening and Dandy is still not willing to tell Susana anything. Well he knows where the door is.

Jaimie shows up at Vicky’s house. She teases him about wanting to be the child’s Godfather. He wants to know how she is certain that she is pregnant. He wants to make sure that this isn’t just a trap. Vicky gets angry at Jaimie and grabs an envelope and hands it to him. It is a lab slip that says she is indeed pregnant. (Whoa!! I didn‘t see that one coming). She is shouting at him now and says “Now do you believe me?”

This next scene must have been our little random scene. It involves Claudia and a guy who she can’t remember his name. But she remembers the car he bought as she gets herself all excited just thinking about it. He gives her his card so she won’t forget who he is. He wants to go out but she wants to stay in. She takes her coat off and convinces him they should stay in. (I am sure he won’t ever forget her and “hers”) She is poured into a fur trimmed leopard patterned negligee.

Back at the expectant parents house, Vicky casually puts the test results on an end table and demands an apology from Jaimie. Jaimie tells her this was all her fault. She dragged him up to that room and seduced him. She says “yea, but you did it and these are the consequences. So now get Rafa to get me pregnant.”
Now Don Gaston and the Brothers Grimm show up and out come the knifes. Vicky tells her brothers to quit being such savage brutes. Vicky tells them that he is there to help out with the wedding plans. After all he is the best man. The brothers settle down. They realize that he would never be interested in Vicky and that she would never be interested in him. We get to see the test results envelope still lying about on the table top.

Ale gets a case of the ickies at the thought of sleeping in Marcos bed. After all he has probably slept with lots of other women there. (Well not lately Ale). Tia chides her and we get a couple of great dichos. What doesn’t happen to you doesn’t hurt you. (lo que no pasa en su año no es su daño/ what doesn‘t happen to you in your year, doesn‘t harm you). Ale retorts, “Guess what? It does cause harm.” Tia spits out another warm fussy dicho. For those in love there is no past ( para los enamarados no existe pasado). The she reminds Ale that if it wasn’t for Marco’s generosity they would be sleeping in the street. She continues to tell Ale that once she is married she will be the happiest women in the world. (I love it when Ale pulls that disgusted face.)

This was a cute scene. We are in the guest room with Marco and Jorge. Jorge is asking Marco if he snores or has cold feet, or if he walks in his sleep .(Tu roncas? tienes los pies frios? Sonambulos?) Marco assures him he does none of the above. Jorge tells him that because he is old he occasionally gets up in the night, just to go to the bathroom though. He doesn’t know if he is sleep walking or not. Marco tells him not to worry. Marco sweetly gets the bed ready for him and Jorge says this is your bed what side do you want? Marco tells him he can have the bed to himself. He will sleep on the sofa. Jorge won’t have this, he will sleep on the sofa. Marco genuinely seems very sweet as he laughs and tells Jorge he can’t allow him to sleep on the sofa and gently tucks him in. Jorge has sweet memories of when Ruby would read to him at night. He asks Marco if he has heard anything from her. Marco tells him no and reminds him it was his decision that she leave. Jorge gets quite upset with himself for this and says of course I remember it was my decision. Then he tells Marco “sometimes it is so hard for us to see the happiness in front of us that we just throw it aside with out a single thought.” (a veces nos cuesta trabajo entender que teniendo la felicidad enfrente, nos dejamos llevar por arrebatos sin sentido. ) Marco then reminds Jorge that Ale and Tia Rosario didn’t want Ruby around. He tells Jorge not to worry though he will look into it. (This was the sweetest scene and I so did not want to know all the rotten things Marco has done!!) as Marco thought bubbles that he will have to make what ever sacrifices necessary if he wants to end up with all Jorge has including Ale. (Not much redemption value there).

Back at Vicky’s we are made aware of the fact that the incriminating envelope still lies unattended on the end table. The boys are all yelling at Vicky to get supper ready. They won’t settle for quesadillas. They want beef steak. Vicky reminds them that once she is married to Rafa he will be her primary concern. That doesn’t set to well with the Brothers Grimm as they decide they better come up with something so Rafa doesn’t marry their sister.

Scariest telenovela nightmare ever. Rafa is stumbling to Vicky’s, pie eyed to the gills. She is standing there waiting for him dressed like Jimenez wife. Rollers and green goo on her face. She is also very pregnant. She is screaming at him wanting to know where he was, and who he was with. She starts shaking him violently and Rafa finally wakes up. He sits up in a panic and wonders if this will be his destiny.

Our next scene is in a dark house, with someone roaming around. It is Vicky. She sneaks over to the coffee table and retrieves the envelope. She wonders how she could have forgotten it. What if her father or brothers found it. They would kill her. They would kill Rafa.

Now what we have all been waiting for. Marco is trying to fall asleep on the sofa cursing and tossing and turning. The door bell rings and Marco tumbles to the floor. When he opens the door he finds a young women standing in front of him covered from head to toe with only a glimpse of sparkly eyes. He says “Sister don’t you think it is kind of late to be asking for charity (caridad) or to be selling things.” She asks if he doesn’t recognize her (reconoces). Marco reaches over and pulls down her veil and Ruby cries “surprise it’s me” . Then she starts snarping at Marco as he tries to shush her. She tells him he probably thought he would never see her again. Marco again tells her to keep her voice down as he starts his little panic routine. He tries to explain to her what is going on when we hear Ale yelling from inside. She wants to know who he is talking to. Ruby wants to know who is inside. Marco is caught between the terror of two women as he continues to shush Ruby and tells Ale to go back to sleep. He pushes Ruby out the door and tells her to wait for him and retreats back inside. Ruby is not very happy about having the door shut in her face.

Back in side Ale wanders out and asks him what’s going on? Who was he talking to? He says “Me talking?” Ale says yes she heard him talking to someone. She wants to know who knocked on the door. Our quick thinking liar tells her it was the night watchman (Velador). Ale thinks that is quite strange at this hour. Marco agrees and tells her to go back to bed. Ruby on the other side of the door starts to knock as Marco opens the door to get a face full of knuckles. He desperately tells her she has to leave. He will talk to her tomorrow about what ever she wants. He tells her to meet him at eight in the morning but to dress like a normal person. He touches her clothes and tells her she looks like a raven (cuervo) and not to act like a clown (payaso) and reminds her she is not in Iraq. She threatens him and tells him if he doesn‘t show up she will tell her Georgie everything. Marco tells her “fine just leave” and rushes her off.

He sneaks back into the house a bundle of raw nerves, frantically saying “This can‘t be!! This can‘t be!! Ruby is back. Now what in the devil am I going to do with this women?” as he sits down to contemplate this mess. He is startled when he looks up and sees Jorge with arms out stretched sleep walking towards him. He rushes towards him and manages to point him back to the bedroom but not before Jorge snatches an apple from the table. He says “The old man is a sleep walker. That‘s the only thing I need.” as he curses more and heads to the uncomfortable sofa.

We have our Rooster crowing on the fence to tell us another week has passed, oops I mean another day. And we have another knock on a door. This time it is Rafa’s house. They are all sitting at the table having breakfast. Juliette is all excited thinking it could be Jaimie. It is none other than the lovely Marian Celeste. Rafa chokes on his food and tells them to let her in. Rafa all nervous and twitting says what a surprise to see her here. Marian apologizes for her boldness (atrevimiento) but she just had to come and see him. Rafa asks her if there is anything wrong. She tells him no “on the contrary”. Pleasant introductions are said by all and Lenora comments on how beautiful she is. Then Lenora offers her a breakfast she can’t refuse; tacos, eggs and beans, coffee and juice. Marian would be delighted.

Lenora drags a reluctant Juliette to the kitchen and Rafa is left alone with the lovely Marian . She tells Rafa his family is enchanting just like him. She apologizes again for barging in. Especially at this early hour (madrugada/ early morning). Rafa assures her that this is no intrusion. She is always welcome and never a bother. She tells him he is charming ( eres un encanto/ charming delightful). Rafa a bit nervous and awkward, takes his coffee and tells her thank you. Marian sips and savors her fresh orange juice. Rafa asks her if there is a problem with the trucks. She tells him no. The business between them is finished. Then she goes on to say “ If you are asking why I am here and was so bold to come to your house well I came for you". And Rafa is left with hand to chin speechless.

El Clon, Wed., July 21 - Summary for Discussion

His parents think Amin is the next Carl Sagan
Jade has rare flash of intelligence
Gloria wins mother of the year

In spite of looking like a deer in the headlights when Said tells Jade to produce the gift for Rania that she went out to get, amazingly, Jade has thought ahead and actually gotten a gift. Said can't say anything.

Amin is checking out planet K for Karla with a telescope when Abdul comes in. The telescope [which would have to be mounted on a tripod to be used] rises rapidly towards the celestial planets.
'Amin estába mirando las estrellas', Amin was watching the stars, Abdul announces proudly to Mohamed and Latifa. His parents are thrilled and give him a book on astronomy. Zamira and Jadiya are not deceived as to his real interest. 'Alá te agarró por el copete ¿y no te das cuenta?' Don't you realize that Allah got you for your arrogance, says Jadiya. (I'm guessing here. Literally, copete means a tuft of hair but it also means arrogance. Or maybe you would say, Allah has you by the short and curlies.)

The Naz claims to have a terrible headache and asks to be left alone in her room. Once there, she miraculously recovers and states that no one is going to decide her future any more.

Luisa comes to see Dora and explains that she didn't have the courage to go to Morocco. She finds out from Dora that Albieri was with the priest and asks to see him. The two women ask for information on Albieri's whereabouts and plans but Father Andres claims the secret of the confessional. He does say that Albieri isn't crazy. Luisa asks to confess the priest. She says that Daniel is the worst error that has happened to Albieri. The padre asks if Albieri is Daniel's father and Luisa says that Albieri mixed up two embryos but it wasn't his fault.

'Daniel, ¿qué sentirías si fuera un clon?' Daniel, what would you feel if you were a clon? Albieri asks Daniel out of the blue. Daniel replies that it would be like having an identical twin. A twin that was 20 years older, clarifies Albieri. Daniel then says that he would be afraid that he would suddenly die like Dolly the sheep. Albieri claims that Dolly did not die from being a clone.

Lucas is in the restaurant when Cristina comes in. He tries to avoid her but fails. He claims to be in Fez on business. [I'm confused. Does Lucas know that Jade is marrying Zein? I thought Jade didn't know who he was. If he doesn't know, why isn't he more surprised at Cristina suddenly turning up in Morocco?] Lucas meets Zein and is invited to the wedding.

0:13 Albieri continues the 'what if game' with Daniel. If you were a clone, what would think about the scientist who created you? asks Albieri. No scientist in his right mind would clone a human being, says Daniel firmly. It's illegal.

Clara introduces Fernando to Rogelio but he is not friendly.

Malicia thinks that Clara hooked up with Rogelio on purpose to get her fired. (That's something you would do, Malicia.)

Gloria tells Rosa that she doesn't know where Nati and Alej are living. She also says that she used to support their relationship but no more since Nati started taking drugs. Rosa denies that Nati drinks or takes drugs. Gloria can't convince Rosa and neither does the maid in the Ferrer house who had come to the same conclusion on seeing Nati's behavior. [When two people tell you the same thing independently, mama Rosa, you should take it seriously.]

The Naz goes out dancing. She is surprised to find Abdul and Latifa up when she comes home. The Naz claims to have gone to the pharmacy for her illness with her high-heeled dancing shoes and Abdul buys that. Then poor Latifa has to serve her leftovers and tea in her room.

Malicia blackmails Luisa (in Anita's hearing) to try and get Rogelio to dump Clara. She then claims to Anita that she and Albieri have nothing to hide.

Albieri arranges to visit Ali with Daniel that evening.

Jade catches Rania and Amina messing with her stuff. They have an argument and Said comes in. He takes Rania's side and says,
'Ella carga a mi hijo. Si peleas con Rania, peleas conmigo,' She is carrying my child. If you fight with Rania, you are fighting with me.' Rania smirks.

Jade wants Zoraida to see what the coffee grounds say about her plan to run off on her wedding day. Zoraida replies that the coffee grounds are stuck on the same old prophecy but now the past and and the present have already crossed and the shadow that is detached from the body is getting closer to her.

Albieri takes Daniel to the famous ruins and loses him.

Amalia tells Leo that she is going to kidnap him for a pre-nuptial trip to see if they can handle living together.

Clara asks Roberto if he has a problem with Fernando. She says that Andrea now meets Fernando at Clara's house. This is news to Roberto. He tells Clara that Fernando brought drugs to his house. Clara is impactada. Roberto says that if Leo finds out, Fer will be fired. He says that they have enough problems with Enrique.

Malicia spreads her malice about Cristina to Diana and gives Pablo the news that Cristina went out of town. Pablo seems surprised that Cristina didn't tell him [How could she? He wouldn't answer her calls.]

Abdul watches Hilda and Karla prance by and tells Amin that they will burn in hell and so will the men who watch them. He shoos Amin inside and then reserves a place in hell for himself by ogling Gloria. He fantasizes about Gloria belly dancing for him.

Alej and Nati come to Gloria's. Nati apologizes for what happened the other day. Gloria accepts Nati but tells her not to get her 'baby' involved in that stuff because she won't forgive her.
'Si necesitas ayuda, aqui estoy yo', If you need help, I'm here. [What a great mom Gloria is!!! and what a contrast to Marisa!!!

Zamira wants to go to a party. Latifa is afraid that if she goes and Mohamed finds out, it will be cause for Mohamed to take a second wife. Jadiya pipes up on the evils of second wives. She says that if Rania has a son, Said will love him more than her. Latifa protests this idea but Zamira says that it is true - just look at what Amin gets away with.

Mohamed tells Latifa that Abdul has made arrangements with the best families in Fez and Amin and Zamira will get engaged when they are in Morocco. Latifa protests mildly that they should wait until the children are older but Mohammed insists that this will bring his children closer to their religion and that he knows best. As usual, Latifa capitulates.

Clara tells Fernando that she knows he is taking drugs.

Albieri comes to Ali's house. 'Ayuda me. No puedo mas,' Help me, I can't take any more. He says that Daniel has been lost since the previous evening and he is lost, too. Ali replies that Albieri seems to be more concerned about himself than his godson. Albieri confuses things more while Ali is organizing the search party by telling him that Albieri doesn't have a photograph of Daniel but Ali will recognize him.

The credits roll.
