La Verdad Oculta 99: Sleeping Beauty and the Beast

Mini Summary: The gang at JJ’s celebrate the return of the kiddies; no one calls Elsa; Yolanda spends the night at JJ’s but sneaks out early in the morning; JJ asks Ale to marry him tomorrow and she accepts; David tells Gabi just enough truth, and gives her plenty of loving, to keep her satisfied (for now); battered, bruised and broken Edgar becomes roommate to an awakened and recovered Susana at the hospital; the hospital calls Edgar’s only phone contact- Adolfo, who finds an unconscious Edgar; Elsa takes a hard look at herself, her attachment to and jealousy over JJ, and her treatment of Mauricio—she decides she wants Mauricio in her life; the kiddies share their tale of kidnapping, Yolanda and Edgar with the gang and Leo; Caramelo gives Yolanda a promotion to Tia, and demotes Elsa to Tia; the writers give us an easy way out of this custody nightmare by having Caramelo choose to live with the newly solidified family at JJ’s (new mommy and all); Elsa accepts this, but does not accept being bullied by Dante and his goons; Edgar convinces Susana to team up with him to hide from Adolfo’s wrath—they leave the hospital before Adolfo shows; Leo throws Adolfo off his game by taunting him with his latest failed attempt at assassination (it was a guard that was killed by Hernandez, not JJ); Susana fruitlessly searches her apartment for the money and the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter diamonds; at their hotel hideout, Susana tells Edgar all about the money acquired from selling THE LETTER, and shows him THE PICTURE, THE SHOES, and THE DIAMONDS.

Full Recap: Limon has lost consciousness and his wig, and JJ has lost the power of speech, at the sight of the two beaming kiddies, safely delivered to the front door. They are both soon joined by joyous Lucha and Ale, and the kids and adults join together in happy hugs and kisses. Limon reminds Ale of the power of faith. From now on, she’s a believer! This giddy scene is interrupted by the entrance of Yolanda, who lets them know that she came with the kids. Caramelo elaborates further by telling them Yolanda was kidnapped (fue secuestrada) with them. Ale introduces Yolanda to everyone as a friend of her Tio Mario. She is immediately invited to sit down and to eat, and asked if she needs a doctor for her head wound. She takes a seat, turns down the offer for a doctor, and since Chicles already took the two lady-folk to dinner, she is only in need of a bath. They gladly offer her the bath facilities and convince her to also spend the night, with much urging. Lucha is so happy to have her little scamp back that she promises to never scold (regañar) Chicles again (we’ll see how long that lasts). Caramelo moves Yolanda to tears by declaring her to be Tia Yolanda for how well she took care of them during the ordeal. Chicles also thinks Edgar deserves props, leading Ale to wonder what Edgar they are speaking of. They all shoo away the bad thoughts to once again celebrate the return of the kids.

It would be nice if they actually thought of spreading some of that joy on to Elsa, because she is spending a sleepless night of regret and worry. Luckily, she has Kindhearted Ulises to share her woes. Woe #1: Her heated argument with Ale, when what happened to the kids could have happened to anyone. She realizes that her rage (coraje) had to do with feeling that Ale stole JJ from her. Woe #2: JJ was never hers to begin with. He never loved her. Woe #3: Mauricio The Wonderful came into her life, helped build her confidence in herself. And what does she do? She kicked him to the curb. (mandar al diablo/send to the devil) She’s so stupid! She’s done everything wrong. Woe #4: Her little girl is missing, and what if they don’t find her?! She can’t even think about it or what might be happening to her. Ulises thinks she’s having one of those moments, when she’s at a crossroads of confusion and regret thinking about her life. He thinks it’s best if she goes to bed to get some sleep, and pray to San Jose for a miracle. The next thing she needs to do is to stop being stupid about Mauricio. In addition to being an absolute babe (bonbon), he’s also a good man and he loves her like crazy.

Ramon, who is really burning the candle at both ends, calls Leo from the office. They’ve identified the two corpses found at the kidnap site- Pablo Cantu and Luis Delgado (aka Ears). They used to do business with Felix. And their fingerprints appeared on Ale’s car, so they for sure were involved in the kidnapping. All most likely under the orders of Adolfo.

At the hospital Pretty Eddy, who isn’t looking so pretty at the moment, has just been wheeled in to Susana’s room at the hospital. She obviously doesn’t recognize him with his face swollen to twice its normal size and black and blue. Two doctors are attending to the pretty patient who was comatose until recently. They are pleased with her recovery. She gets released tomorrow, but has no friends or relatives to pick her up.

At Adolfo’s, he and his partner (socio) Dante have just come to an agreement. Dante will go see the girl tomorrow. Just as Dante leaves, Adolfo receives a call from the hospital. They found his number in the phone of an unconscious man- around 35 years old, black hair, strong, formerly handsome… Adolfo knows who it is, but says it’s the relative of one of his servants.

Back at Elsa’s, she has not taken Ulises advice to go to sleep, but she has taken his advice to stop being stupid about Mauricio. She calls Mauricio and asks him to accompany her to JJ’s the next day to find out if they’ve learned anything new about the kids. She’s dying of anxiety over the kids and can’t sleep. Mauricio tries to calm her down and asks if she wants him to come over. She turns down the offer since it would be too much to ask of him, but she still wants him to come with her tomorrow. Mau wonders if she just wants him to come with her because she doesn’t want to go alone. She brings a big smile the big guy’s face by telling him the reason why she wants him to come is because she wants to see him.

At the hospital, Adolfo is trying to figure out what happened to Edgar and making sure the police haven’t been brought into the matter. As he talks to the nurse and a comatose Edgar, Susana trembles in fear on the other side of the curtain, recognizing the familiar evil voice. He tells the nurse that he’ll be back tomorrow to transfer him to a private hospital. (Either Eddie will get the same private medical care as Felix, or he’ll be joining Garnica on that “aquatics team.”) A while later, the nurses gossip about the poor man and his injuries- multiple fractures in his arm, and bruises all over his body. And how’s Sleeping Beauty? ( La Bella Durmiente) She’s awake, has all her faculties and no permanent damage.

At Casa Genoves, David and Gabi are showing us that just because you’re married, doesn’t mean you can’t still bring the sexy. They bask naked in afterglow under the sheets. Gabi is promising she can keep a secret, if David tells her all. She wants him to have confidence in her. David decides to tell her a bit more about the plan to foil Adolfo’s plans to kill JJ with a fake hit (asasinato falso), and that’s what he, JJ, and Leo were celebrating when she called (he leaves out Fausto/Mario). Never one to be satisfied with sketchy details, Gabi starts to ask more pointed questions about the whos/whats/whens/wheres/and whys. David puts a halt to her questions, asking her to just trust him. And he has no idea who the mystery woman who has been calling is either. He doesn’t have “amigas”; she’s the only woman in his life. Gabi wonders if it could be a former girlfriend. David doesn’t know and doesn’t care. He’ll speak to whoever it is next time. What he does know is he loves her with his whole soul and he doesn’t want to be with anyone else, he simply can’t. He only wants to be with her. They get back to married couple loving.

At JJ’s it seems that the phone actually works, because Ale is speaking to Leo and telling him about the return of the kids and Yolanda’s involvement. Your recapper is too angry at our two otherwise lovable protagonists to share in their joy about the return of the children, or to really care about JJ’s proposal to Ale get married the next day. She says yes. I’m done with this scene. (Ok, Ale also said some stuff about the guilt killing her, loving Cara and wanting to be her mom.)

Early the next morning, Tia Yolanda sneaks out of the house. And at the hospital, Edgar has woken up from his drug induced sleep and getting news of his injuries from the doctor. He’s obviously in a LOT of pain. On the other side of the curtain, Susana is being discharged and given back all the items she came with, including THE PICTURE and THE SHOES. She clutches the precious shoes to her as the nurse advises her to wear flip flops instead. The doctor joins in. High heels like those are a no no for someone in her condition. She could lose her balance. In addition, she will likely have occasional lapses in memory, but it’s normal. She needs to take it easy and do her rehab exercises, until her body and mind fully heal. Back on the other side of the curtain, Edgar’s doctor tells him about Adolfo’s visit and that he’s coming back today to “transfer him to a private hospital.” Edgar doesn’t like the sound of this and decides he needs to leave, NOW, broken bones and bruises be damned. He tells the doc that he’s got a cousin who’s a doctor who can care for him at home. The doctor wants him to at least make a statement to the police about the guys who beat him up, but Edgar refuses. All he needs are his anti-inflammatory and pain meds prescriptions.

Yolanda returns to her condo and heads straight to Juanita’s room to search the mattress for THE LETTER. She is shocked to find not only the mattress missing, but all of Juanita’s things.

Back at the hospital, Susana get’s discharged just as Edgar is being dressed and put in a sling by the nurse. He finally sees her face, recognizes her, runs after her, and catches her just before she catches a taxi. He hobbles up behind her, scaring her, but convinces her to get into a taxi with him right away before Adolfo arrives. If Adolfo finds them, he’ll KILL them! They pull out just as Adolfo pulls up. He is shocked to find out from the nurse that Edgar already left.

At JJ’s, the whole gang is up, dressed and has visitors—FaustiMario and Leo. I’m guessing there was plenty of time to call Elsa. They explain about Yolanda disappearing before daybreak. FaustiMario is sure Adolfo must be threatening and controlling her, and Ale marvels at how some women will still stick to a man who harms her. Caramelo thinks Yolanda is good peeps (buena gente). The two kids tell Leo the whole story of the kidnapping from the beginning, horrifying the adults with all the scary details. Chicles gets to the part about Edgar letting them escape. Ale thinks it’s a miracle that Edgar, although one of Adolfo’s men, let them escape. They all argue the point about whether someone like that could have good in them.

In the taxi Susana explains how she ended up in the hospital. Edgar tries to talk her out of going back to her apartment since he’s sure Adolfo is on their trail. She insists she has to go to pick up a few things.

The doorbell rings at JJ’s, and the kiddies as usual run to answer the door (haven’t these adults learned anything?). Elsa and Mauricio are shocked to see Chicles answer the door, and even more so when Caramelo leaps into Elsa’s arms a second later. “Como estas chiquita?!” After Caramelo assures her she’s well, a royally ticked Elsa enters the house and wants to know why they didn’t tell her the children were back. JJ looks like he can’t be bothered. Limon tries to act like all it all just happened and they were about to call her. Chicles chooses the wrong moment to start a 100% honesty policy and calls out Limon on his lie. He announces to Elsa that they arrived last night! “Do you think I’m an idiot or what?!” Ale jumps in and says they were all just so excited (emocionados) that they forgot to call her. (Thanks Ale. That makes it all better.) Elsa responds with sarcasm- “Oh, that’s totally understandable. Of course!” Caramelo looks up at her- “Please don’t get mad tia.” This pushes Elsa to her limits. She accuses the Insensitive Gang of influencing Cara to start calling her tia again. JJ doesn’t try to smooth things over, instead he tells Elsa that Caramelo will no longer live with her, but instead will live in HER HOUSE, with HER FAMILY. When Elsa says she’s her mother, JJ yells at her that she’s NO ONE’S mother. He and Ale are getting married and adopting her. Elsa throws his ex convict status and inability to adopt in his face. Mauricio decides to jump in to diffuse the situation. He asks JJ to let Elsa take Cara tonight and then tomorrow they can talk about it calmly. Since everything that comes out of Mauricio’s mouth, including common sense, sounds like a threat to JJ, he goes after Mau and yells at him to butt out. Leo holds JJ back from getting physical with him. “This business is between me and her (Elsa)!” Mauricio says he’s just trying to find a way for them to deal with this in the most just/fair way. (There he goes talking that common sense to JJ again. He should know better by now.) Remember that Elsa has the legal rights over Caramelo, even if you don’t like it. JJ doesn’t like it, so much so that he wants to break Mau’s face. Leo holds JJ back as he yells at Mau, Ale starts yelling as well, and Leo shouts them both down to calm themselves. Caramelo goes over to give her Tio Limon a hug and tells her Tia Elsa that she doesn’t want to leave him. This is music to Limon’s ears. “What did you say my love?” “I want to live here with you. I don’t want to be apart from my Tio Limon. I want to be with him always!” She also wants to be with the whole gang who live in the house. JJ looks at Elsa smugly, as she clings sadly to Mau. Mau tries talking common sense again and tells Cara that she has to live with Elsa because she’s her mom (Social Services would likely agree with this). Elsa stops him and graciously says to leave her. If she doesn’t want to live with me, so be it. When she leaves, JJ and the gang act like they just defeated the Evil Witch of the West. Ding dong the witch is dead. Cara is the only one who has remorse that her Tia Elsa left being so sad. Well she’ll just have to get used to it because you’ll be living here with us! Cara wonders if this means that Ale will be her mama. Limon loves this idea! (Could it be because Ale will be living in the same house? If she wanted to live somewhere else, without Limon around, he’d change his tune.) Happy, happy, joy, joy!

At her police sealed apartment, Susana discovers that the money and the butter diamonds have been taken. “Me robaron todo!” (They stole everything from me!) Her shouts bring the landlord who is none too happy to see her. She accuses him of stealing her money and her butter. He didn’t touch anything; it was the cops and he’s going to call them now to tell them she’s returned. Edgar tries to hustle Susana out of the apartment. When the landlord tries to detain them, he gets a swift whack to his family jewels from Eddie’s cane. He’s left rolling on the floor in agony as Edgar and Susana flee.

Adolfo is scouring the newspapers for news of last night’s hit on JJ when he is interrupted by a call from Leo. “What the hell do you want?! Make an appointment with my secretary!” Leo needs to talk to him right now. In fact, he’s in his house. “Que?!” He opens his office door and is greeted by the stern face of Leo.

Mauricio drops off Elsa at her door. She asks to be alone so she can think about everything that happened. Mau looks a bit put out, fearing he’s getting the cold shoulder again. Elsa asks him to have patience with her one more time. It’s just that what happened with Caramelo really hurt her. He knows. That’s why he wants to be with her to support her. But he doesn’t want to be taken for granted and ignored. She admits she has been self centered (egoista) in the past and taken advantage of him. But she loves him and she wants to be with him. She touches his cheek. Right now she just needs to be alone. He agrees to leave her alone, but he’ll be in his office if she needs anything. He goes in for the kiss on the cheek, but newly bold Elsa changes the trajectory and plants a firm smooch right on his kissable lips. They are in the midst of being transported by this kiss when Ulises interrupts. He’s happy to see the pair reunited.

Adolfo, however, is not happy to see Leo. This is harassment! If he doesn’t have a warrant for arrest or concrete proof, then he’s going to bring Leo up on charges of abuse of power. Leo’s not bothered. Proof is steadily coming to light. Adolfo still thinks they’ve got nothing on him. He’s not going to fall for these pressure tactics that they learn at the police academy. Unless Leo has an order from a judge, he needs to beat it. Leo’s ok with that. He just came for a social visit. He makes his way out, but then turns back to Adolfo. If Adolfo is looking for news of JJ’s murder in the papers, then he’s wasting his time. “Victoria no esta muerto.” The one Hernandez killed was a guard. Now they’ve got him in questioning and he mentioned a guy named Edgar Lopez, who he believes works for Adolfo. He used to work for the Genoves and is the prime suspect in Roberto’s murder. Adolfo plays dumb. He doesn’t know the guy. Leo goes on. This Edgar escaped from the cops after the attempt on JJ. Speaking of JJ, he gave the police the address of the location where two bodies were found. These same two were the ones who kidnapped two children from Ale’s car. “You don’t know anything about this?” Adolfo has had enough. He orders Leo to go. Fine by Leo. Soon he’ll have the pleasure of seeing Adolfo in jail.

Dante is at Elsa’s door with his two goons, outnumbering Elsa and Ulises. Ulises has her back as she tells Dante that she doesn’t want to talk to him and orders him to leave. He convinces her to talk to him, and Ulises to leave. Ulises says he will be in his apartment, but instead he sticks close by listening on the other side of the door. Dante wants to know exactly what Elsa told the cops. She defiantly tells him she told them the truth about what happened. That he had her sell jewels that didn’t have bills of sale, although he told her they did. He calls her stupid, since the problem was easily fixed with him giving the clients back their money. Elsa doesn’t know why he’s coming to look for her. The one who should be upset here is her, for him having involved her in something so disgusting (asqueroso). Dante doesn’t think he’s responsible for dragging Snow White through the mud. He’s done some investigating and found out she has a brother in jail for murder and smuggling. He’s sure she has the same criminal tendencies in the blood. Elsa tells them to get the heck out. Ulises senses the moment is getting tense and springs back into Elsa’s apartment. He threatens to call the cops if Dante doesn’t leave. He and Elsa stare them down as they exit. “Shoo shoo shoo.” Ulises begs Elsa’s forgiveness for having connected her with Zaida for the job. She tells him not to worry about it.

At the hotel Edgar explains that he’s hiding from Adolfo because he didn’t do something he ordered him to do. He has her order his meds though room service, since it’s too dangerous for her to go out. She will be his life line, and he swears he’ll protect her. He’s not going to hurt her. Now he wants her to explain the money and the butter.

At Casa Genoves, Ale interrupts Gabi and David’s meal with the happy news of the return of the kids. She then shocks them with the news of Yolanda and Edgar’s roles in the whole drama. Anyway, she has to head to the beauty salon, because JJ wants them to get married tomorrow! Gabi jumps up and gives her cousin (unbeknownst to her) a congratulatory hug. Ale convinces Gabi to come with her. They run off leaving David.

Back in the hotel, Susana has just given Edgar his shots, using her nursing aid experience from the States. Now it’s time to spill the details. She tells Edgar about the 1.5 million pesos that was in her bag, but hesitates. Edgar once again begs her to trust him. She begins the tale, detailing how she found Dora’s letter, then the photo of Gabi and the connection to the shoes she is wearing this very moment. Edgar’s still not getting the importance of all this. Then Susana takes off her shoe and shows Edgar what’s inside. Huge, sparkling DIAMONDS! Edgar is speechless.

ALGUIEN TE MIRA – últimas semanas

We’ve had horrible moments of graphic violence before but nothing like the sustained hideous sadism of Julián’s triple murder: Daniel’s lawyer, the lawyer’s secretary, and finally, Daniel himself.

Up to now, Julián has eluded justice with a combination of meticulous planning, skill and dumb luck. But this time -- this time! -- we were sure the forensic evidence would be irrefutable. The detectives would analyze the murder scene checking for things like gunshot residue, bullet trajectory, skill needed to resect a heart and suture the wound closed. And they would conclude that the scene was only staged to make Daniel Vidal appear guilty. They would know that Vidal was just a victim here. And this would lead them back to the police investigators’ prime suspect: Julián García.

Well. Obviously it didn’t happen that way. This Chicago Police Department is hobbled by forensic science more suitable to a 1940’s film noir than a modern-day thriller. Luisa Carvajal’s objections are drowned out by her superiors. They buy Julián’s staged crime. He goes free.

We move ahead several months. Despite Julián’s best efforts to incriminate him as the accomplice of Daniel Vidal, Rodrigo is finally exonerated and set free.

The bellies on Lola and Piedad are ready to pop. Even Lucía looks pregnant now -- whether it’s with a pillow or a baby, we can only guess.

Pedro Pablo is still in exile from the family home although amazingly, he has managed to keep clear of Lucía. Now that Rodrigo is free, Pedro Pablo will have to find somewhere else to live.

Benja is on the straight and narrow, living with Lola and the girls and seeing his kids regularly. He’d like to get back with Tati but she’s decided it’s her turn to be the wild girl. Uh oh. Alguien te mira, Tatiana!

Camila is a college girl. Let’s hope nobody tells her about Spring Break or the College Girls Gone Wild franchise.

Matilde is home with her parents and Emilio. Her emotional reactions to names and events are eloquent. Unfortunately, we, the viewers, are the only ones who can read them. Her doctor tells her parents about a surgical procedure that may help her. Julián does his best to scare them away from it.

In her campaign to win Rodrigo’s love, Valeria has finally taken the gloves off. Literally. Hat’s off, too. Not that it helps – he’s still obsessed with pea-brain Piedad.

Piedad promises to call him for the baby’s birth. She insists her engagement with Julián is still on but she is living apart from him until after the baby is born.

Julián’s Dr. Jekyll is determined to keep his Mr. Hyde at bay. You can almost hear him muttering under his breath: Must. not. kill. While the ever-more seductive Fantasma de Eva whispers in his ear: You know you want to.

Okay. Your turn.

Triunfo del Amor #24B 2/3/11 A triumph of dirty deeds, done dirt cheap.

Guillermo plays innocent in the matter of Osvaldo's for realz shooting.

Bernarda is pissed that Tomasa has run off and now she's got to answer her own damn door. Tomasa's gonna pay for this! She answers the door to a guy with a badly scarred face and asks him how he got through the gate. He says he's used to people looking at him with fear. Dead JP's Daddy's not-actually-dead kid? Wouldn't he be older than JP? Is JP just not exfoliating and moisturizing enough?

The director knows that the bullet was switched out, but he doesn't know who would want to hurt Osvaldo. Ofelia tells him to chill, they'll investigate, but he needs to just calm down already. Guillermo says it was probably just a mistake, and not unheard of. Damn! What the hell kinds of sets has he been working on? I don't even know why they'd bother to have live bullets available in the special effects department. Or that there wouldn't be copious security measures in place to keep realies from "accidentally" getting into the guns. Sorry…beanie slippage…. Pedro tells someone to summon the head of special effects so he can scream at them. The EMT says it was just a scratch, but he also hit his head, which is what they're more worried about. Os asks Guillermo not to say anything to Victoria, so she'll probably know inside of five minutes. Pedro calls a halt to taping until he's done firing the poor special effects guy. Ofelia asks Guillermo if it was him, but he keeps playing innocent. She wants to know if he really wanted to kill Os. Nah, he's such a sick bastard he probably only did want Os wounded so he can torture him longer.

The guy at Bernarda's door is Fausto. He's looking for work, but she says she doesn't need anyone. He says he can be her chauffer, her gardener, do windows, run errands, and so on. And he'll work for room, board, and a day off a week. She's intrigued, but she has to consult her son…and she has no money. She tells him to come back later for his answer. She asks his name again and he says, I kid you not, that it's "Fausto Candela." Which is a perfectly reasonable name to have, but given Bernarda's history, it's just too cheesy!

Back in the barrio, JuanJo and cousin Cruz discuss playing matchmakers and getting Milagros and Don Napo together. He wants to send Milagros a letter saying it's from a single guy looking for a woman who just happens to have her characteristics. JuanJo suggests they hand-write the letter, then go to the plaza and find someone to type it up for them, since his mom knows his handwriting.

In the hospital, Pedro says they investigated, but no one turned out to be guilty of having substituted the real bullet. Ofelia smiles and says it's like Guillermo said--it must have been an accident. "Obviously the real culprits aren't going to come forward because they fear punishment," she smarms, while looking at Guillermo. Guillermo passes on the info that the doctor assured them that neither the bullet wound nor the head bump were serious. And no, he didn't call Victoria, but he does think she needs to know. Pedro is going to put off filming Osvaldo's scenes until he's better. Osvaldo tries to get out of bed already, but he's still in pain. According to Pedro, he just needs a day of rest and then, like the doctor said, he can get back to his normal life tomorrow. Osvaldo says they're the best friends in the whole world. Guillermo and Ofelia smirk at each other.

Tomasa comes home to a very crabby Bernarda. She decides to tell the truth. Bernarda calls her a traitor. She throws her out of the house and Tomasa is only too happy to go and never see her again. She tells Bernarda that Vic gave her a wad of cash and an offer of work. She's going to go tell Padre JP that Bernarda's got the dead tormenting her, because that's just not normal. She's also convinced that Bernarda killed Don Octavio for wanting to go tell JP that Victoria was preggers. And she just says all this to her face. Damnit, Tomasa! Bernarda lets her have it with a fireplace poker and sends the money wafting out of the envelope.

Maria is all upset, thinking that Linda was right about men only wanting one thing. Nathy suggests they go up to the roof, look at the stars, get some fresh air, and talk. Maria's not in the mood. She just wants to mope. Nathy insists and drags her out of the apartment. Maria whines and complains the whole way up the stairs…until she sees the romantic setup on the roof. Good thing she wore her formal peignoir. She tells Nathy she's not in the mood for jokes. Max, however, is in the mood for something.

Bernarda sees Tomasa's body and starts backing away. She knocks the pictures off the mantel and starts crazying that Tomasa deserved it. Actually, she's pulling the pictures down and dropping them on the floor, which is kind of random.

Max says it's no joke, he's serious, and the night is just getting started. He tells her he's never done this before. They sit down at the table and Max says he wants to confess something to her…"The day was a farce, just so I'd have time to arrange all this. And Nathy was my accomplice, but she didn't know what I was doing." He kind of formally thanks her for giving him her virginity. The white roses are supposed to symbolize that she's still pure, in her heart. Not that I don't appreciate the sentiment, but it sounds really cheesy and somewhat misogynistic when he says it out loud. He hired a violinist. And he also hired a full moon, cause he's Max and he can do that with the power of his hotness combined with his big fat wallet. He dances with Maria, but then he starts giving the violinist a free show. I bet that guy sees a LOT of action on his job. Smoochies…smoochies…dancing smoochies…smoochies dancing. Max says he knows he's the first man in her life, but he swears he'll be the last too. Smoochies. The candles are burned almost the whole way down.

Nathy talks to Fabian and tells him the plan went off without a hitch. He can even hear the violinist through the phone. Nathy gushes over how romantic it is. Fabian suggests they go to the movies together and leave the two "tortolitos" (lovebirds) alone. I appreciate that he seems to genuinely like her and doesn't act like he's doing her a favor. I'm going to be annoyed when he doesn't realize he likes her until after her makeover.

Max finally opens the bottle of wine so they can toast to their love, their happiness, being together forever, and the sad day she spent without him so he could surprise her. She toasts with him. He also wants her to know that his only wish in this life is to be with her, and he'll be with her no matter what happens. They toast again. Maria says she really did suffer a lot and he'd better not do it again! He swears he won't…unless it's to do something like this again, ja ja ja. They keep drinking and smiling. Is it wrong of me to wonder where the food is? You can't be having these marathon lovemaking sessions on an empty stomach! Geez, Max! Feed the poor girl already and quit getting her drunk!

And the crazy logic for the murder…"You swore before Christ that you wouldn't say anything and since you broke your oath I had to kill you. Don't you understand that my mission is to get rid of all the sinners in the world?" She actually lights a match and lights the fire in the fireplace without freaking herself out. She wonders out loud what she's going to do with Tomasa now. Fausto (*snicker*) comes in and says he'll take care of it. "How did you get in?" "That doesn't matter. What matters is that this is the chance I've been waiting for to show you that I will serve you unconditionally." She offers him Tomasa's money for helping her. He accepts, but says he doesn't want money. He just wants to serve her. She's religious and she reminds him of his parents, but above all, they both know that sinners need to be punished. "And where you'd get that idea from? How do you know I think that way?" He says not to ask and just know that her most faithful servant has finally arrived. She agrees, but says he's on probation and she'll get rid of him if she's not convinced. He says he'll make himself her accomplice to seal the deal. He'll burn this sinner's body, since she's surely burning in hell already. He kisses her cross. Ewwwwwww! I have three potential theories for how this all turns out, some of them not mutually exclusive: (1) they're going to sleep together, (2) he's going to be the one who ends up killing her, (3) they're going to kill each other.

Victoria tells Antonieta that she's so happy she saw Tomasa again and repaid her debt. Victoria says it was thanks to Tomasa that she was able to survive. Oscar comes in to announce the completion of the ready-to-wear collection.

They all go to Pipino's workshop. Antonieta marvels at how the designs all look expensive. Pip gives Oscar the credit, for making Victoria's idea a reality. She says it's just what she wanted. Oscar has the budget ready for her to review and the costs really were low, he says. Pip doesn't give a hang for cost. He says the collection is going to be a great success. Antonieta thinks the dresses are ideal for women without a lot of money to spend. Victoria is dying to see one on and asks Antonieta to model.

The cousins are back, crowing over their success. They say she'll finally get a "sopa de su propia chocolate" (a soup of her own chocolate; a taste of her own medicine, but they seem to mean it more like "she always helps other people and it's about time someone helped her"). Milagros overhears and wants to know what they're doing. JuanJo says nothing and then starts teasing her about rooting for the Chivas. He is apparently a Club America fan. Before she can find out what's going on, Don Napo comes running in saying there's a big fire, they've called out all the trucks, and they need all the help they can get. JuanJo goes running out and then tells Cruz to go with them. As Cruz runs out, Milagros gives them her blessing…most of it after they've left the room.

Antonieta shows off the blue floral dress and Oscar seems to see her for the first time. Victoria's phone rings and she says "Osvaldo? Balazo?" (gunshot) and then goes running for the hospital. Oscar goes with her. Pip says to Antonieta that with that dress on, he thinks Oscar's eyes popped out. "That's how you should dress! More youthful. Not so formal." He swears Oscar really was looking at her and she giggles.

The fire is going strong at the building.

At Bernarda's house, the fire in the fireplace is also going strong as Bernarda says that Tomasa's body is burning like her soul is burning in hell. Fausto gives her a creeeeeeepy look.

Burning building. Firemen in action. People getting saved.

Bernarda's house. She jumps up form her chair by the fire and gets dizzy. Fausto is concerned. "I imagine that you must be terrified at seeing the fire too. I say it because of your face. What happened?" Fausto says it was an accident he's never been able to forget. He gives her the creeeeeeepy look again.

Burning building. People getting loaded onto ambulances. The fire is over. Juanjo says his cousin outdid him. Don Napo says that fireman are the most loving chaps, cause they save people's lives without even knowing them. The chief offers Cruz a permanent job and Cruz accepts…oh, but then who's going to teach Fer about the *cough* flowers growing in her *cough* garden?

At Osvaldo's bedside, Ofelia says they whole effects department should be fired. Pedro won't rest until he finds out who did it, because he suspects it was someone who wanted to hurt Osvaldo on purpose. Guillermo says no way, everybody luuuuuuurves Osvaldo. Victoria comes running in with Oscar. She's not put off by him calling it an accident and demands a full investigation. Pedro says he absolutely will. Osvaldo tells her to calm down already, it's nothing. The doctor just wants him to stay under observation. Victoria wants to stay with him, but Guillermo says it should be him. Victoria won't leave. Osvaldo reminds her how much work she has to do and says he's fine. Vic says she thought she was going to die when she got the call. Life has no meaning without him! Pedro says they ought to leave Vic and Os to their hospital smoochies.

Max tells Maria she looks beautiful in the moonlight. She's so happy to be with him. He's the happiest man in the world. He wants to see her everyday and sell tortas, ja ja ja. Smoochies.

Linda, still in the hospital, sees the news about Os's "accident." The reporter helpfully tells the whole world that Os is right up there in his suite on the 6th floor.

Vic is still going on about how much she loves Os and would die without him. Os says he once read that someone wrote that they weren't as afraid of dying as of becoming useless. He gets that now. Vic says they need to think that every age has it's beauty.

Linda is on her way.

Vic says death is irrevocable and she hates the thought of death catching up to them one day. Os says growing old means not doing a lot of things,

"No son muertos los que en dulce calma,
la paz disfrutan de la tumba fria,
muertos son los que llevan muerte el alma
y aun estan con vida."

He's (slightly mis-)quoting the first stanza of a poem by Columbian poet Antonio Muñoz Feijoo. The other two are:

No son los muertos, no, los que reciben
Rayos de luz en sus despojos yertos.
Los que mueren con honra son los vivos.
Los que viven sin honra son los muertos.

La vida no es la vida que vivimos.
La vida es el honor y es el recuerdo.
Por eso hay muertos que en el mundo viven,
Y hombres que viven en el mundo muertos.

It means, "They are not dead who in the sweet calm, enjoy peace in their cold tomb, dead are they who carry death in their souls and still have life. They are not dead, no, they who receive rays of light in their stiff remains. Those who die with honor are the living. Those who live without honor are the dead. Life isn't the life that we live. Life is honor and is being remembered. That is why there are dead men who live in the world and men who live in the world dead."

Vic kisses him.

Linda continues her stalking. She sees Vic and Os through the window in his room. He convinces Vic to leave, finally (dumbass!). Linda has to run so they don't pass her in the hallway. She sees Vic, Oscar, Ofelia, and Pedro waiting for the elevator and sneaks into Osvaldo's room. She starts kissing him and says she was sooooo worried about him. He reminds her it's over. She reminds him she's nuts and isn't going to let him off the hook. She threatens him with his wife. He threatens her with the cops. He says he's sure she provoked the "accident" so she could meet Victoria. He asks her again to leave. Speaking of stalkers, Guillermo approaches. Osvaldo physically shoves her out of the room just in time for Guillermo to get a picture on his cell phone. Linda passes by his open window and pouts.

Back in her room, she munches on Lays (heh) while watching the news and saying they should have killed him outright and made his wife suffer!

Fer and Victoria watch the same news program. Fer is upset that no one told her what was going on. She was scared. She doesn't know what she'd do if anything bad happened to either of her parents. Vic says "Now you know how I feel when you do crazy shit!" She says anything she does to keep Fer safe is justified, cause she's a mom.

Padilla meets some shady guys to try to borrow money. He swears he'll pay on time, with interest. The guys say either he pays up on time or he dies. That's the way it goes. Padilla agrees and gets handed a briefcase full of cash, presumably.

Vic tells Fer that family is the most important thing in this life. Fer asks her to stay until she falls asleep and Vic agrees. Fer makes room for Vic in bed and snuggles up.

Maria tells Nathy she no longer has any doubts that Max really loves her. Nathy still can't understand how Maria agreed to…um…you know..that she and Max…that Max and she…. Maria says until last night she didn't know what love is. And you can only talk about "physical love" when you've been in the arms of the man you love. So wise she is, after one night in a hotel. Her whole narrative is bodice-ripper worthy, "When he kisses you…when he caresses you…to feel the heat of his skin…little by little that passion awakes and you're on fire inside…and then you sink, like you're falling straight into heaven…or hell." She doesn't know if she did the right thing or not, but love conquered her and she gave herself to him…and to the fire of luuuuuurve! The girls giggle.

The next day, Osvaldo gets checked out. Guillermo wonders what Vic was paying for, since Osvaldo's stay was paid for by the production company. She says it was Linda's bill, the girl her chauffer ran over. Linda is walked into the little lobby by her roommates. Vic says she needs to report to the fashion house to get her assignment. Linda smarmily says she's glad that Mr. Sandoval is feeling better too. Maria and Nathy give her dirty looks for that comment.

Padre JP wonders where Tomasa is. Bernarda says she left the house last night because Victoria gave her a bunch of money and they argued. Tomasa said she hated Bernarda and wished her dead, and then she left. "See what happens because I'm such a good person! I didn't deserve that!" Fausto comes in and is introduced. PJP assures him that he feels compassion for him and thinks he must have suffered a lot. Fausto says PJP has the same good heart as Bernarda. Bernarda says Fausto is a very devout man, which is part of why she hired him. PJP says he smells something really strange coming from the fireplace. He thinks it smells like burned meat. "Mom? What did you do? I beg you to tell me what you did." Staring match.

Sweet William Levy in a kayak!

Tomorrow: Bernarda makes another attempt on Vic; Maria meets her rival, Jimena, who is determined to get Max back. And like a dumbass, he kisses her. Sheesh!

La Fea Más Bella #199-200 2/4/11 Lety Ver 2.0. The Immovable Object.

Capitulo 199.
Read Amanda’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

La Candelaria. Luigi tells Caro and Aldo that all he knows is that Lety is president, she went who-knows-where, and she came back completely different. Aldo is highly amused. When Aldo is away from the table, Lui tells Caro he’s sure Aldo is interested in him. Gui says they’re looking for someone with Luigi’s skills for their project. Luigi assures them he’s their man, but he would need to work very closely with Aldo so he needs to provide him an office at Conceptos.

El Santuario. Lety calls home and tells Pop that she’s in an antro and reminds him she’s an adult. She brushes off his curfew. She informs Tom that he’s her new VP of Finance.

The cuartel comments on Lety’s transformation, and Lety says a special friend helped her. They order her to tell them why she left Conceptos, how she became president, etc. She can’t talk about it. Irmita stops the interrogation; they’re here to celebrate. Two guys come to the table; I’ll pick names for them. Butch asks Paula to dance and Chuck asks Lety. (Actually Chuck seems like a nice enough guy.) The cuartel speculates that the wedding was canceled because of another woman, and they speculate more about the couple, while Lety controls her face and suffers.

Placide. Saimon worries that Paula and Lety are out picking up men. Fernando takes a slug of water for courage. Fernando mirrors Saimon who pines for his princess and has a burning desire to talk to her. He tells Saimon that he’ll take him to find Paula. He tells himself that Marcia will kill him, but he has to see Lety. He can’t take it anymore.

Le Noir. Marcia says Lety doesn’t want to see Fernando. MamaT says Lety still loves him. Marcia agrees, but Lety believes the letter and is sure he just used her; she won’t be able to trust him again. She has no idea he fell in love. Alicia butts in that he still loves Lety (with friends like Alicia..). Ali points out Lety’s ugliness, but Marcia can’t avoid the fact that Fern fell in love with her, and he was shaken up when he saw her. MamaT stresses that they have to keep Fern far away from Lety.

Capitulo 200.
Read K-Fuego’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. At El Santuario, Saimon expresses all the anxiety Fern is feeling.

2. Marcia concludes that Lety believes Fern can’t stand her, and he can’t prove that he loves her. Other than Omar, only the three of them know, and they won’t tell. Lety promised she wouldn’t repeat the past, but Ali asks, “what if Fern goes to Lety?”

3. Chuck sits next to Lety and asks her to dance again. Fern steps up. “Buenas noches.” Lety gets self conscious because Fernando sees Chuck’s arm around her chair. Fern claims he came to bring Saimon. Saimon tries to counter that was Fern’s idea, and Fern shushes him.

4. Saimon sees Paula dancing with Butch and makes a scene. Lety asks for the check, but Chuck asks her not to leave and tells her, “Don’t be so crabby.” Oopsie! Fernando gets in Chuck’s face and does what he does best, what won Lety’s love on Day One: he defends Lety. Lety gazes at him like the old days. Fern almost kisses her spontaneously, but then they remember those days are gone. Saimon roughs up Butch and loudly breaks up with Paula.

5. Fernando begs Lety for a chance to talk. See the transcript. He hits all his most important points and gets nowhere, but at least she’s heard him. This was his first encounter with New Lety, the Immovable Object. Marcia calls with the same interrogation as in the old days.

6. Aldo tells Luigi that what’s ugly is how he talks about people. Luigi’s all atwitter for Aldo.

7. Pop says Mama says he has to change too. But she still has to follow his rules (normas: more like policies than laws). He can’t sleep until she’s home safely. Lety briefs Mama that Fern said he’s changed and he still loves her. Mama says, “Maybe? Just maybe?” Lety nixes that idea. He just did it for the company.

8. Fern goes to his dungeon and ponders to himself, “I lost her forever.” His jailer is worshiping at the shrine of the wedding dress. They’ve already fallen back into their old roles of oppressor and liar. She says his mother worries about what he’ll do since Lety returned. He says she’s not the same Lety as before. He’s given up on getting back with her.

9. Lety ponders, that Fernando’s look and his voice made her heart beat like crazy.

Spanish Lesson: El Santuario.
I haven't posted a transcript in a long time. I know that Kris posted most of this dialog, and in fact I used her wording in a few places. But Fernando's plea was so moving, I couldn't resist. I just had to post it. For those of you useing Fea to learn Spanish, this "Spanish Lesson" provides a good learning tool. Watch the scene with the transcript in hand, and try to understand how the characters' words match the English translation.

F: Lety, I need to talk to you.
L: I’m sorry. I don’t want them to wait for me.
F: It’s just for a moment.
Cuartel: Talk to him. Don’t be rude. We’ll wait for you.
F: Lety, since you left Conceptos we haven’t been able to speak.
L: We have nothing to say to each other anymore.
F: NO on the contrary. Quedaron cosas pendientes (there are still things left over). Very important things to clear up. Believe me, I’ve waited for this moment with great emotion.
L: You came to accompany Simon, not to talk to me.
F: No, I came with Simon because I knew you would be here. There are many things that I want to tell you about the letter you read. As you well know, I didn’t write it.
L: No, you didn’t write any of those cards you gave me either. I know those phrases of love weren’t yours..
F: It’s not like that.
L: Look, you don’t need to do this. Your business is saved and when the debts are paid off I’ll return it. You don’t have reason to give me any explanations, besides I didn’t ask for any.
She starts to leave. He takes hold of her arm. Their faces are close. Their faces are drawn closer.
F: No te me XG. Please.
L: Wrong. Very wrong, Don Fernando. It’s very wrong to me (me parece muy mal) because I don’t want to talk to you anymore.
F: I know you hate me. And forgive me for touching you. I understand everything you feel against me
but we are going to be together for six months.
L: No, no we’ll only see each other when there’s a committee meeting and that’s how it will stay.
F: No I can’t be so far from you, um, the company. Nor do I intend to stand here doing nothing (with my arms crossed). It’s that I, um, Conceptos..
L: Look. Tell me what you want from me. (Digame. Tú form.)
F: I know it’s hard. But I don’t want you to hate me. I’m aware of my errors Leticia. I know I behaved like an imbecile. Only God knows how horrified I am about what I did to you. I am paying in the worst way you can imagine for all of my shortcomings / failures. Do you know what? The whole world was against me, and I believe it was for the best that it happened, even though it destroyed other people with me, people that I cared about.
L: Look Don Fer. Before I came here to confront all of this I already forgave you. (Half smile, almost crying.) The truth is I don’t hate you anymore. (Big smile.) I forgave your deception (he reaches to touch her face), your false caresses (he pulls back hands; oopsie!), your cards. I forgave you.. that you went to my house and yelled at my father. You yelled that I wanted to keep your business.
F: Lety I didn’t know where you were. I knew absolutely nothing about you. [Estaba en lo que sido - I was beside myself?] What you wanted me to do. You didn’t even..
L: I even forgave you for interfering with my family. [He looks scared; maybe he’s starting to realize that he offended her horribly.] My family is the most sacred thing that I have. Yes, I will forgive you under one condition, that you get far away from me.
F: Fine, but you have to know that you are standing in front of someone who changed. I don’t want you to remember me as the person who hurt you. Instead I want you to think of me as a man who is learning the hardest lesson of his life.
L: (She turns so he can’t see her crying.) I don’t think about you anymore. I don’t want anyone to know that you were here with me. Please.
F: Bueno. That will be hard because there are too many witnesses.
L: I don’t want Marcia to know that you were with me, for nothing in the world. (Fern’s face: huh??) I don’t want to hurt her. Given that she’s afraid that the story between you and me will repeat. I don’t want you to put your relationship at risk for my fault because I can imagine how hard it was for you to get back with her. To get her to accept you again.
F: What relationship, Leticia? Por favor! Things are not like you..
L: Look, Don Fernando. I don’t need explanations anymore. Tomorrow we’ll see each other at court.

F: Lety, look. You have to listen to me. Damn it, this may sound ridiculous to you, and maybe I shouldn't say it, but you have to know this: I still love you, with all the strength of my soul. Verdad, do you believe me? Verdad, sí me cree. I’m in love.
L: Enough! How can you possibly think that I would believe you? I’ll tell you something. It’s obvious you haven’t changed a bit, but I have changed. I don’t need you telling me pretty things to make me feel good. I’ve learned to love myself and to respect myself around others.
F: (Begging.) Lety, please I respect you too. And if the problem is Marcia, I want you to know.. (His cell rings.)
L: Answer it! Please don’t go back to tormenting her. Dejame en paz! She leaves.
F: I love you. I love you, Lety. Very much.

Eva Luna #64 Thu 2/3/11 From the cradle to the grave

This was definitely a busy episode. So I will get right to it. We start with Eva asking Don Julio to forgive her about not telling her about Daniel. She tells him she tried to talk to him about it the last time she saw him at the house. Julio tells her he already knew. Eva is curious as to how he found out. Julio tells her Victoria had a detective follow them and he saw the pictures.

Eva is quite surprised to learn that Victoria knew about them. Then she puts it together that Victoria must have known when she took her out to that isolated area for the commercial shoot and just left her there. She tells him Daniel found her and they were together that night. Julio asks if Daniel is the baby‘s father. Eva tells him yes. Julio with a fatherly hand to her shoulder tells her not to worry, everything will be fine.

Marisol and Alicia are talking. Marisol asks if she has forgotten all about Tony. Alicia tells her if only. She cares about him. Marisol doesn’t like the sound of that. Alicia tells her he is quite fine and today he brought her a little gift and she felt butterflies in her stomach. (It was probably just her addled brain rattling around.) She tells her she felt for an instant that he really did love her. Marisol says if you ask me I think you are in love with him. Alicia tells her that she can’t get him out of her head. On the other hand she is treated to fine wines, elegant clothes fine dining from Leo. Marisol tells her she is young and intelligent (What?) and not to change for money and fine clothes. Alicia tells her she knows but with everything Leo is offering her how can she not be interested. Than she takes her little black bag and shows her the money Leo gave her. Marisol has an all to wise look on her face as she sees the money in Alicia’s hand.

Alicia tells her he gave it to her just because he likes to see her all pretty. She tells her it is more money than she can make in a month at work. Marisol tells her to believe her when she tells her that “Easy money can make one very unhappy.” Than she looks a bit disappointed in Marisol’s response and asks her what she should do with it. Should she return it? She answers her own questions and says of course not.

Eva is worried that Don Julio will think the worse of her, thinking she came to his house to rob his daughter’s fiancé. Julio tells her he knows this isn’t what happened. He tells her the love that was born between Daniel and her happened because Daniel wasn’t in love with Victoria. Love never existed between them. He tells them the attraction started because of their connection to the business and later was imposed on them because of Marcella. Eva tells Don Julio that Daniel told her the same thing and he was in love with Eva. Eva tells Julio that it was all a lie and she was stupid to fall for his game. He never wanted to marry her. He asks her how she can say such a thing with such certainty. She tells him she talked to Alicia and she told her Daniel and Victoria got married. Julio gives a deep throated “What? They got married?” That’s an affirmative says Eva and continues “ Now that I am pregnant this child is not only from a man that doesn’t love me but also the man that killed my father.”

Bruno is having a flashback of when Marcella almost fainted in her office and screams at him to get her a drink. He remembers seeing her put the letter in a drawer. He gives this some pensive thought. (I think he is deep in thought or remembering his “passionate night” with Marcella.)

Eva is all bummed out because she is expecting a child with that jerk. Tia scolds her for talking like that. She tells her this will be the last time she talks like that because this is her child she is talking about. Julio agrees with Tia. Tia tells her this child deserves nothing but pure love and good things. Eva starts to argue with her and Tia sets her straight and tells her to be happy and thank God for this child.

Eva is now crying and tells Tia of course she thanks god, but she doesn’t know how she will take care of it. Julio again offering a soft place to land rubs her shoulder and tells her that is the last thing she should be worried about. He tells her as long as he is around, as he points to Tia “You and your child will never want for anything.” Tia walks over in tears and tells her how can you not be a happy mother and all three have a emotionally bonding good cry.

Marcella is lying down in all her misery as she hears a knock on the door. She shouts at Renata and tells her she isn’t there for anyone. It happens to be Vicky. She tells her she has to talk with her. Marcella asks if it can wait till the morning, she has a wicked migraine. Vicky sits on her bed and tells her she ran into Claudia at the gym today and she told her she lost her baby. Marcella looks at her as if that were old news and says “ Well at least we won’t have to have anything more to do with her.” Vicky continues to tell her that she told her something else that left quite an impression on her. Marcella is non phased as she takes a couple of pills. Vicky asks her if it is true, did she put something in her coffee to cause her to loose her baby. Marcella downs the pills with disinterest.

Tia hands the phone to Eva. It is Dr Garcia. He confirms that Eva is pregnant and suggests she make an appointment to see him.

Victoria is telling Marcella that she told Claudia if she continues talking like that she would sick their lawyers on her and charge her with defamation of character. Marcella tells her good job. Marcella is surprised however, if Claudia thinks this why didn’t she come and face her about it. Victoria says she asked her the same thing and Claudia told her when she lost the baby she suffered a mental crisis and was hospitalized. Marcella chortles “This crisis was because she was frustrated because she realized her efforts to trap Leo failed.”

Bruno sneaks into Marcella’s office and breaks into her desk drawer saying “Let’s see what you are hiding in here.” He pulls out the letter and looks startled to see what it says.

Victoria is also looking a little startled as she continues her chat with Marcella and asks her to tell her the truth “Did you put something in the coffee that would cause her to loose her baby?” Marcella looks at her disarmingly and says “What do you think?” Victoria ponders this and replies “I don’t know but you once gave me something that would make everyone thing I tried to commit suicide.” Marcella says with her snake like charm “So are you saying you think I did it?” Victoria again is giving this some thought as we hear a knock at the door. Ah the creepy Adam’s family is now complete as brother Leo enters the fold.

He apologizes for interrupting but Renata told him she wasn’t feeling well. He asks her how she’s feeling. She tells him she was feeling poorly but Victoria brought her some news that helped her feel a bit better. He wants to know what kind of news. She tells him to sit down as she pats the bed for his spot to sit.

More Eva and Tia. She is telling her that she will soon have a child that she will love and take care of and soon discover it will be the light of her life. Eva sadly agrees. Tia seems frustrated and says don’t tell me you are still thinking about it’s father. Eva tells her no she was thinking about her mother. It’s is hard for her to understand how a mother could abandon her children. “How could my mother abandon me and Alicia?”

Guess who appears in the next scene? Old dead beat mama herself, Deborah. Her assistant or maid Vanessa is asking her how things went. She tells her very good. The detective has finally found some clues as to where her children are. She says “Alicia and Eva are here in Los Angeles. Their father brought them here a couple of months ago. Something tells me that very soon I will find them.”

Wednesday, Pugsly and Morticia are sitting on the bed. As Marcella turns to Leo and tells him that Vicky tells her that his Ex-Claudia lost her baby.

Leo looks a bit taken back at this news as Marcella continues to say “And now you can rest easy because you are liberated from this package.” He tells her that’s not so bad because this child could have really complicated his life. Marcella smiles at him as she touches his face and tells him she would never have permitted that his life become complicated in that way. That is why she took care of the matter. Victoria looks on in disquiet belief. Leo asks her exactly what did she do? She tells him not much she just gave her a little substance that would cause a natural abortion. She goes on to nonchalantly say she could not permit anyone to cause him harm, and understand one thing, whoever would try and harm either of them will end up paying very dearly because for them she is capable of anything. Marcella then tells them and she says ‘please’ not to tell any one about this. Leo thinks for a nanosecond then kisses her on the cheek. Victoria really seems spooked to be hearing this.

Vanessa is telling Deb that she hopes she finds her daughters. Deb tells her she has spent many years looking for them and feels that now she is very close to them. She tells her now more than ever what ever the time, if the detective calls to let her know right away. Vanessa assures her she will be right on that and that she sincerely hopes she finds them. Deborah tells her she believes that very soon she will encounter them.

Tia is telling Eva to stop thinking about her mother and not to torment herself any more about that subject. Eva tells her okay. Tia continues that her emotional state right now can effect her baby. She says when Julio finds out that she is pregnant he will have to give her permission to go see the Dr. Eva tells Tia as she brings her hands to her face that she still can’t believe this is happening. Tia tells her the only thing she should be thinking about is the well being of her unborn child. Eva tells her that Julio told her Marcella wants to harm her. She says now more than ever she has to be careful and protect herself from that evil women.

Bruno is standing and grinning to himself looking at the letter Marcella received saying “The poor widow is receiving anonymous letter’s. It is very interesting that al of this is making you very nervous. Is it possible that she could have murdered her husband?” as he lay’s the anonymous letter on the desk top. Then he wonders who could know and who could be sending her little notes. Then he says whether is true or not he is going to take advantage of her vulnerability and he puts the letter back in the drawer.

The note says “Assassin. You murdered Julio.”

Marcella is now all freaked out at the possibility that someone has found out that she murdered Julio. She is wiping makeup off her face like an insane person as she tells herself she has to find out who it is and put an end to them. “I have to kill them. I have to kill them the same way I killed that Bastard child of Claudia’s, and Julio and Eva when she shows up.” She is really scrubbing at her face hard now and saying chanting over and over that she has to kill Eva.

Laurita has brought her plate into the kitchen and tells Jacky that the supper was really good as she sits it down on the counter to finish her desert. She tells her she is glad she liked it and is relieved that Victoria liked it as well otherwise she would be far away looking for work. Laurita frowns at this and tells her “My dad would never allow that.” Jacky cautiously tells her it was one thing when they were dating, but now that they are just married who knows what she could convince Daniel to do. Laurita tells her that will never happen. Jacky sweetly tells her not to worry about such things. They are very sweet together.

Tia is asking Eva if she is going to tell Daniel she is expecting his child. She looks her straight in the face and says “No. Like you said, this child is mine and no one else’s.” Tia agrees but tells her the child has a right to have a father and know his father and the father has a right to know his child. Eva tells her that neither her nor the child need anything from Daniel. She tells her that man is an assassin and killed her father. She says it is best the child never learns anything about this. Tia tells her she is partly right but the child has the right to know the truth about his life no matter how hard the truth is. Eva shaking her head tells Tia she can’t think about these things right now with everything rattling around in her brain. She tells her what she would like however is for Laurita to know. She says she would be very happy knowing she had a little brother or sister.

Jacky is asking Laurita why she doesn’t want to eat with ‘her.’ Laurita tells her she couldn’t stand seeing the old witches face any more. At this moment old witch walks in and wants to know why she is eating in the kitchen. She looks at Jacky and tells her this will be the last time the child eats in the kitchen like this.

Laurita is making cute sour little faces as Victoria continues to rag on.

Victoria tells Jacky that decent people don’t eat in the kitchen. Jacky defends Laurita and says her and Daniel do it all the time. Victoria crosses her arms and snarls, “I am not interested in what use to happen in this house.” Laurita continues making her little faces and then puts a morsel into her mouth totally ignoring Victoria and hands her plate to Jacky telling her it was delicious and asks for another piece. Victoria is now literally cackling as she scoffs calling her a little hen telling her she is behaving poorly eating in the kitchen and to come back to the table. Our true little brave heart turns to Victoria and tells her she is eating where she is. Victoria is not about to loose this battle as she tells her to do what she is told because as of today her bad manners aren’t going to be allowed. As of now she will start obeying her because if she doesn’t and is quickly cut off by our defiant Laurita as she turns and says with great attitude “If I don’t then what!!?” Jacky is trying very hard to not butt in as our little battle of wills and stare downs continue between Laurita and Victoria. (I would hide that puppy Laurita .)

Julio and Eva are walking arm in arm and he is telling her now that she is pregnant they will just have to change their plans a bit. They will have to lighten her load. Eva smiles and thanks him for all his help. He tells her when Dr. Garcia shows up tomorrow he will make an appointment for her for a general checkup. Eva tells him he is like a second father to her and when her child is born he will be like a grandfather. Julio smiles and says “Hopefully God will allow me to live long enough to enjoy this child.” She tells him both her and her child care very much about him and both need him.

Back at our battle of wills, Victoria is telling Laurita “Your days as princess of this house are over. You will do what I say, when I say and how I say.” Laurita is not going down without a fight as she says “Look If I tell my dad I want to eat in the kitchen. I will eat in the kitchen.” Victoria snatches the plate from her and pushes it away and shouts at her “You ate in the kitchen!!! And you will understand this one way or another.” Laurita looks at her and says “Oh yea? And what are you going to do? Are you going to hit me?” Victoria bends done and sweetly with menace says “No my dear. I have other plans for you. And soon I will convince your father and I will give you a big surprise.” Victoria walks away smugly as Laurita and Jacky share dreaded looks of upcoming doom.

Justa is sitting at Julio’s fake grave site lamenting on and on and on about her unrequited love. How she should have told him about the child. This goes on forever and we all know the story.

Moving on we see Marcella sitting on the sofa all tense as she hears the door bell. She looks around all nervous and thought bubbles “Could it be another letter? Or Julio’s lawyer again. Or Eva who has finally returned? Calm down Marcella, You have to control yourself.” Renata walks in and disrupts her saying she has a visitor in the living room. Marcella still looking nervous tells her she will be right there.

More Justa lamenting, she has always loved him, and she knows he loved her. But she knows it is too late as she arranges her white roses. She tells him now it is time to end the story between them. A story full of pain and memories.

Marcella enters the living room and finds Deborah waiting for her. Hugs and kisses are shared. Marcella escorts her to the sofa and tells her she has a lot to tell her. Deborah tells her she would have been there sooner but she had a little problem to take care of. Marcella tells her she arrived just at the right time and she can’t imagine what she has been through. She tells Deb that she really needs a good friend to unload on. Deb takes her hand and sympathetically tells her Renata filled her in on what has happened to Julio and gives her heartfelt sympathy. Marcella tells her not to be so sad, because she can’t imagine what that man has done to her. Because of him she is going through the worse time of her life. (Buck up you old cow, it’s not like you don’t deserve this!!) Deborah is curious and Marcella says when she tells her what is going on she will know why she is bad mouthing Julio.

Black Escalade approaching cemetery. Who could it be. None other than Julio and the good Dr. Julio is curious to see who might be attending his fake grave site. They pull over and he says to the good Dr. “All be it crazy or morbid, how many people get to drive by their own tomb and see their own name written in stone, or see if anyone brings flowers?” Dr. Garcia warns him that he is risking being discovered. Julio tells him to humor him. Dr G. tells him he is just giving him good advice. Julio laughs and says he just wants to see if any one is still crying over him. He looks over to the grave site and quickly removes his shades in total shock as he sees Justa on bended knee in front of his grave site. He says it can‘t be.

Don Julio is telling Dr. Garcia that this is impossible. “I thought she was dead. I have to go to her.” He starts to get out of the car with urgency as Dr. Garcia pulls him back and says “Are you crazy? Have your forgotten that the dead person is you? Nobody can see you.” Julio is desperately trying to get out of the car telling him he has to go talk to her. Dr. Garcia is trying to hold him back telling him he can’t get out of the car. Nobody is suppose to know he is still alive. Julio tells him that she needs to know. He tries to get out and Dr. Garcia is struggling with him to keep him inside.

Deborah can’t believe the story Marcella just told her. If her husband would have left her penniless not to mention the fact that he left it all to the servant girl, she swears she would be worse off than Marcella. She would be literally in pieces. Marcella sniffling now tells her she can’t imagine how awful all this has been for her. Deborah tells her she can understand for certain what she is going through. On top of all that Marcella tells her “Everyone expects to see me as the grieving (acongojada) widow. How surprised would they be to see me not suffering or crying for the poor dear Julio.” She continues with great self pity and says pointing to herself “Poor me!!!” Deborah asks her if she has “encountered her little problem.” (namely Eva) Marcella now shaking, tells her every time the phone rings or the door bells chime she gets a panic attack thinking “that women might return and throw me out of my house and take away all my things.” as she continues her boo hoo (and who cares!!) Deborah tells her to forget that. She tells her she doesn’t have to give up anything that is rightfully hers. Marcella graciously thanks her for being so helpful. Deb tells her she can count on her for anything she needs. Marcella is grateful and then asks her how long she will be in Los Angeles. Deb tells her for as long as she needs her and for what ever help she needs. Deb tells her when this women returns they will be well armed to destroy her. (Well this is an interesting turn of events.)

Don Julio is still fighting to get out of the car as he tells Dr. Garcia he needs to talk with Justa. We see her still kneeling at the grave site. He needs to find out if it is really Justa. The struggle has proven to much for Don Julio as he suddenly starts struggling for air and Dr. Garcia is truly concerned. He starts gasping as he says “this women has been missing all these years. This is the women.” or something like that as he really starts looking rough and passes out as Dr. Garcia shouts his name and starts shaking him. We see Justa stand up and walk away.

Renata brings Deborah her favorite flower tea. Deborah compliments her and tells her she is incredible and doesn’t forget a thing. Renata takes this in with stoic pride. Marcella rudely tells her she can leave now. And Renata throws her an icy look. Deb congratulates Marcella on her good fortunate in finding such an accomplished and loyal servant. Marcella tells her she has proved to be useful. Deborah says there is a reason for not accepting just anyone off the street. Marcella says “You got that right. I should have never let Leo drag that women into this house.” Deb says “And she tried to steal Victoria’s fiancé as well?” Marcella tells her if she hadn’t found out in time she would have done it. Deb remarks at what little shame that woman has. Marcella chimes in “Those people don’t know shame.” Deb tells her she is glad that she was able to do something just in time. Then Deb starts talking about how great and beautiful and sophisticated Victoria is and how she would love to congratulate her on her marriage. Marcella tells her Victoria would love to see her as well as she really cares about her.

Dan and Secretary are in the office talking shop, and setting up meetings. She hands him some papers to review for an upcoming meeting. He also has the employee reviews to go over and review their salaries. Daniel now seems overwhelmed and says he was away longer than he should have been. She chides him and says he is the first man she has ever heard complaining that the honeymoon was to long. He sighs and then asks if she has confirmed his appointment for today. She senses something is wrong and asks him what is going on. He asks her why she would ask that. She tells him since he has returned from his trip he isn’t the same. He is more tense and curt. And he doesn’t smile like he used to. Another heavy sigh as he looks at her and says “I guess it is true what they say that marriage changes a person.” and leaves.

Tia and Eva are chatting about which would be better. A boy or a girl. This playful banter is interrupted by a phone call. It is Dr. Garcia telling them that Don Julio is very ill.

Deb is asking Marcella about Leo. She asks if he has been snatched yet by someone. Marcella laughs and says not yet. (Not as long as she is holding her little bag of a sundry poisons.) Marcella tells her that woman hasn’t been born yet. Deb tells her not to worry, one will appear sooner or later. Marcella laughing tells her it isn’t something that keeps her awake at night. They both have a laugh now and Deb tells her there are men born to be free and perhaps her son is meant to be one of those. More laughs. Then Marcella says “speaking about children, I have something I wanted to ask you for a long time. Why haven’t you ever had children?” Deb looks thoughtful and sad and gives a long sigh as she tells her things are not exactly as they seem. Marcella says “what do you mean things are not as they seem? Tell me.”

Eva and Tia are rushing to a taxi. As they get in the cab, we see Dan coming around the corner and he sees Eva getting in the car. He runs after the taxi yelling her name as it drives off. We see another taxi appear right in front of Daniel.

Tia and Eva are telling the driver to go to the only hospital in LA and to hurry please. It is an emergency.
We see Daniel sitting in the back seat of a cab with his hand anxiously to his chin then we see both cabs round a corner. Suddenly we see a red car approach and smash into one of the cabs. We are left to wonder which cab got hit.

Marcella is asking Deb what’s up. “You got very serious.” She tells Marcella there are things in her past that no one knows about. Marcella tells her that all women have secrets in their lives. The important thing is to know who you can tell them too. Deb tells her she’s got that right. It would be awful if the press got wind of her story. Marcella tells her she knows she can trust her. Deb tells her she knows. After all they have been friends for years. Marcella urges her to tell her the secret that she has guarded for so long. Then she offers her a whiskey. Deb looking like a women with a past (Problems with alcohol perhaps?) declines and tells her she’ll stick to her tea.

Back at the crash site we hear sirens and see police cars as a dazed taxi driver gets out of the cab. People are running around but no one is doing any thing. Then we see Daniel’s blood stained forehead lying unconscious in the back of the cab.

Deborah is telling Marcella her history which is a long story about a big mistake she made many years ago when she was quite young. She tells Marcella that she is probably the only person that could ever understand her. Marcella tells her she is quite surprised. In all the years she has known her she never thought she was the type of person that would have something to hide. She tells her it was something that happened before they knew each other. Before the Arismendi company made her cosmetics line one of the most successful cosmetic companies ever. Marcella asks if her story might have something to do with having a child that she has hidden away somewhere. Deborah tells Marcella her story is not about a son. It is about two daughters she lost when they were very small. Marcella listen on intently.

Tia and Eva have arrived at the hospital and are asking Dr. Garcia what happened. He tells Eva he isn’t going to lie to her. Julio is really bad off. Eva is distraught as she brings her hand to her face. Tia wants to know what happened to have him in such bad shape. Dr. Garcia tells them Julio asked him to take him to the cemetery. Dr Garcia tells them “He saw a woman there. He became quite upset. He tried to get out of the car and I stopped him. He was going to go and talk to her.” Eva looks puzzled and asks “what woman?” Dr. Garcia tells her Don Julio said the name but he can’t remember. He tells them that he suddenly became very pale and his heart couldn’t take it. Now Eva is all worried and asks if he will get better. Dr. Garcia tells her that Don Julio’s health is very fragile. He tells her he can’t promise anything.
He escorts them off to see Julio.

Ricardo is asking Justa if she went to the church. She tells him she went to the cemetery. He asks if she went to visit the grave of that man. He looks quite sad. She tells him she went to tell him everything she wanted to tell him but sadly it was to late. He asks her how she feels. She tells him she feels much calmer. Like a huge weight had been lifted from her. She doesn’t know if he heard her or not, but she feels for some reason he might have. Ricardo stands and approaches her and tells her, of course he heard you. He goes over to sit by her and she thanks him for all his help. He asks her if she is still in love with him. Is this the reason why she could never fall in love with him? Justa tells Ricardo that she loved this man with all her heart and knew that he loved her. But now it is time to go on with her life. Ricardo wants to be a part of her life. She tells him it isn’t the right time but she leads him on to believe there is hope for them. (I think)

Eva is at Julio’s bedside and things don’t look good.

Dr. Garcia tells her that he is worse every minute. Eva is begging an unconscious Julio not to leave her alone. Tia ushers her out of the room.

Daniel is on a stretcher with a neck brace and is wheeled into an ambulance. Things don’t look so good.

Marcella is asking Deborah how she could have lost her daughters. Deborah says it is like I told you. I have spent years looking for them. Just then we hear Victoria screeching for her Mommy. Deborah tells Marcella that it is a long story and she will tell her about it at another time. Marcella is anxious to hear it now and asks why. Deb tells her it is because her kids are here. Happy hugs and greetings are shared as Leo and Victoria come onto the den of insanity.

Tia and Eva are in the hospital lobby. She is asking Tia to give her some hope to hang onto. Tia tells her she isn’t able to tell her anything. From what the Dr. told them Julio has been circling death for a long time now. Eva tells her she has to know what will happen. She is able to see things that are about to happen. She accuses her of knowing but doesn’t want to tell her. Tia assures her that is not the case. She swears to her she doesn’t know any thing. After all the Dr. told them that his recuperation depends solely on Don Julio himself. She goes onto say it is certain that he is very weak but he also has much to live for. Whether he wins or looses this battle with death depends entirely on him. At this very moment a gurney is wheeled right in front of Eva and she suddenly gets up and goes after it. She runs back to Tia and grabs her hand and tells her it is Daniel. That is where we end. At the only hospital in LA.

Llena de Amor #122 (Mex. 127) Thu 2/3/11 Some Like it Hot

Emanuel has a very good day today. Is it because Ilitia is out of town? Is it because he gets to spend the day with Vicky? Is it because he got to annoy mommy? all of the above? Valentino Lanus does a good job portraying angst, but when he gets to play a scamp he is hotter than ever. Don't believe me? Well check it out.

After a smooch-filled preview for tonight’s show we open with…

…a smooch-filled moment on Netty’s couch courtesy of Gman and Oliver. Netty pitches a fit when she finds out Oli was fired for kissing Gman on the job so she dials her resident lawyer, manager, and lunch guest, Licenciado Pacheco.

Eman and MarVicky are clothes shopping for their country shoot. Eman is struck dumb by a vision of MV in an exceedingly attractive swim suit. Fedra shows up and is struck snarling by the same vision. She demands that MV cover her shame. MV laughs and says there are worse outfits such as a cabaret floozy…“mi reina,” she adds.

MV twists the knife by explaining that due to the superb chemistry between them she and Eman are doing a commercial together. Fedra is sure MV plotted this simply to destroy Eman’s marriage, snarl snap snarl. What with Bernardo missing and now finding them like this what could be worse? “We’re sleeping together” MVgleefully suggests. Hee hee.

Oh ick. Lowrenzo’s got his blechelor pad all duded up for a night of cradle robbing. Kristel arrives on way-too-high heels which don’t do much for her knock-knees but Low doesn’t seem to notice. He’s too busy ogling her ruffly floweriness and trying to explain away his affair with mommy dearest. With promises of modeling jobs and other delights they clink glasses.

Netty storms into El Comisario’s office with the wronged couple and their lawyer. Poor Comis doesn’t stand against Nety and Gman. Oli jumps in with his demand for gay rights and Nety wraps it up with a quick scolding about equal rights for everyone that leaves El Comis slack-jawed.

Over at the agency an absurd scene is unfolding. Malicio, asserting his partnership in the company, is angered to hear that Vicky plans to leave town to make a commercial; he forbids it. Eman is amused beyond words, adorably so I might add. His delighted facial contortions are the highlight of this scene.

He lets Vicky give Orangey the verbal smackdown he so richly deserves. She is the major shareholder, remember? And as such she’ll do as she pleases. Furthermore he doesn’t have enough power to participate in any of the company’s decisions. She sure crushed his cheeto.

Apparently Netty and El Comis are on a first name basis. Agustin swears his decision wasn’t based on discrimination but on Oli’s recent past history of tardiness, drunkenness and suicidal behavior. He respects Oli’s personal life but his kissing that kid in his office is problematic. Netty bats her eyes and urges “Agus” to give Oli a second chance…for her.

Back at the blechelor pad Kristel gushes over her “super delicious” meal. Low is ready for dessert and he doesn’t mean the fattening kind. In fact it can help her lose weight, can she guess what it is? (Oh gag me with a spoon!) OK she’ll play; is it water flan? Sugarless cactus jello? Cucumber with nuts and yogurt??? Ahhh, now she's getting the picture. After his leering description of what he has in mind she throws her napkin down, jumps up and heads for the door.

While Lowman is dealing with Mission Improbable Netty is over at the Polis Station choreographing her slam-dunk. Reminding Agus that love can move mountains she blows him a kiss and leaves Oli to his fate. After a short and perfunctory scolding El Comis reinstates Oli with his badge and gun and only squirms a little bit when he is rewarded by a big gay hug. Agustin is going to be one confused hombre by the time our little passion play comes to an end.

Kristel tells Lowman he’s like an uncle to her not to mention her novio will be super jealous. As she heads out the door Low drags her back (open door alert!) and gushes that she is so very beautiful. Really, she asks, prettier than my mom? Oh much younger and prettier he purrs, laying a big one on her. That lasts about a half a second as Fedra’s medusa-like curls loom up in the background. Lowrenzo! Kristel!

MV’s got her bags packed and she’s heading out the door of the pension as Doris explains to the group that MV and Emanuel have got a hot kissy-face commercial shoot scheduled. Brandon’s not happy to hear the news but MV insists it’s just work. Eman pops his happy head in the door and gloatingly concurs, it’s just work, no fun at all, workity work (chamba chamba).

Ya see? Sez Doris. They’re working together because of all that chemistry. Brandon glumly struggles with the concept while Eman elbows him out of the way, grabs MV and her bag and splits. Road trip!! This is the part where Gladiola asks Brandon if he wants Cuernitos for dinner. (See vocab below)

Over at the blechelor pad Fedra is about to explode. She weeps and cries to her daughter about cutting her heart into quarters. Kristel promises nothing happened and after getting her requisite slap on the rear runs out the door. Fedra turns her wrath toward Lowman and the scene ends with him in a headlock.

Cut to the cantina where Netty, Oli and Gman are celebrating Netty’s success and Oli’s reinstatement. Netty says since she can’t spend the rest of her life with the one she loves she at least wants them to have a sporting chance. They respond with a lip lock which turns a few heads at the neighboring tables. Netty hisses a warning about two guys making out at the cantina so a pinkie lock will have to do satisfy them for now.

Speaking of headlocks (and we were, weren’t we?) Fedra still has a red-faced Lowrenzo in a death clasp that’s got him gasping and wheezing for mercy. She grabs a fork and wields it in his general direction while wailing that Bernardo warned her about Lowman’s lowness. Low’s insistence that Bernardo loves Fedra distracts her momentarily, but then she lunges with a steely grip around his neck. In a surprising turn Low yells at her to leave, Largate! Not so easy, she threatens, and as is usual for these two, attempted homicide turns into foreplay and they stumble into the next room.

Kristel has returned to Manic Manor and nervously chats up her novio. He’s slightly suspicious of her weird behavior but since he rarely thinks of anyone but himself he soon loses interest. He tells her he doesn’t have time to play because he has to travel to a location for work. Kristel might be dumb but she ain’t stupid; she knows this has something to do with that wannabe flamenco. Mal is all “I’m an important shareholder and I’ve got to go hablahblah.” Unfortunately for him Fedra comes in (wow, talk about a quickie) and tells him he’s not going anywhere because he’s going to marry Kristel immediately.

Uh oh, Eman and MV are driving in the pouring rain which never bodes well for anyone in these shows. To make matters worse she thinks he’s driving too fast. Oh, and we also find out that they are driving up separately with the rest of the staff and gear to follow along a safer route. I think he says they’ll be staying the old RydeT hacienda where Eman and Mari spent many happy times. As they both ponder the good old days a car comes screeching around the corner and is heading right for them, aieeee!

The suspense is killing me, yawn. But before we find out the fate of our star-crossed lovers we’ll pay a visit to Bernardo in his cellar cell. He thought bubbles angrily that if he ever gets out of there he’ll get that damn polis and Gretel too. More angry thoughts toward Gretel’s real father Tio Max and Paula who is likely her mother. They’ll all pay!!

So close and yet so far, Fedra is giving Beni and Paula the third degree as to Bernardo’s whereabouts. They reveal nothing. Nereida is summoned and then summarily dismissed for wearing mourning dress, dressing like a vulture to be specific. Poor Fedra, it’s just one annoyance after another.

Fedra’s pity party is interrupted by Emiliano. “You have your nerve!” she accuses. “Yep, living with you for more than twenty years does take nerve,” he retorts. Apparently his crime du jour is allowing Vicky de la Gartha to travel alone with their son.

Although at the moment said couple is at a dead stop having survived the near-crash intact. Eman checks with the other driver and it turns out some bridge got washed out and they’ll be spending the night together alone at the house. Eman’s day just keeps getting better and better. “This weather suits you,” he grins, a non sequitur that elicits an eye roll and a sigh from MV.

Fedra’s whines reach a fevered pitch until Emiliano pulls out the stops and announces that the big client in charge of the ad is Marianela’s own husband Jorge Llauma. Emiliano won’t forgive Fedra for all the horrid things she did to his niece and the day that he holds the proof in his hand is the day she’ll pay dearly. Not sure why he needs proof if he’s so sure about her, but OK.

Eman and MV arrive at the old family homestead (very deluxe if you ask me) and she recalls happy days of their youth playing hide and seek. They were happy then. Eman blathers giddily while MV sadly recalls being with her parents in the house.

Back at Netty’s the family proudly looks at Mari’s wedding album and gushes over her hunky husband. Brandon thought bubbles that he wants to take the picture of Mari, Jorge and Vicky to the lab to authenticate it. The talk turns to the commercial and Consuelo pipes up that knowing Vicky the fictional romance will soon become reality. Netty denies it, saying Eman is true blue, a real hero. “Like El Lirio de Plata?” asks Brandon. Oops.

While MV dries off in another room Eman gets a call from Fidel. There is a 24/7 watch on Muñeca’s house by the polis and both of them are under suspicion. MV walks in overhears Eman telling Fidel they’ve got to move the merchandise soon. He convinces her that he was just talking about photographic gear at the studio. Whew, disaster averted yet again. Then his cell battery dies.

Lowrenzo arrives home and hollers for his flower only to discover that she is still working at the orphanage. With his wife at work, the kids asleep and the servant going to bed he decides this is the perfect time to find the money that Muñeca and Flora hid.

Brandon pays Muñeca a visit at the orphanage. He’s there to review all her accounting records and he’s not leaving until he does. Is it just me or does it seem a bit late in the evening for such a call?

Eman comments that Vicky seems very comfortable in the kitchen. She frets as he dreams aloud about Mari’s amazing chicken soup. But good news, Mari taught Vicky the secret recipe. I guess this makes him amorous; he gloms onto her like an octopus to help her chop onions then kiss her little boo boo. Could Eman’s night get any better? Hell yeah. The lights flicker off and since our chairwoman of the board is afraid of the dark she leaps into his arms. And this is where we leave our cozy couple until tomorrow.

Mañana: Eman and MV are white hot.
