AMOR BRAVIO EXTRA - Operation Shine the Light, Pt.1 (10/10/12)

AMOR BRAVIO PLAYBILL AND FAMILY TREES

NOTE: There may be spoilers here for any viewers who have not been following this telenovela from the beginning.  It is meant primarily to help viewers who are staying current to keep characters and their relationships and inter-relationships straight.

New Post--Update on all song themes; recent revelations; what Miriam needs to learn. Family Tree list is now near the end.

RECENT REVELATIONS

Gussie finally sees with her own eyes how Dio and Isadora have been having a fling behind her back even before Gussie and Dio got married.  He tries to keep her from telling Caye by tying her up, but she escapes back to the rancho LMQ.

Miriam has learned a lot of things (see Below).

Natalia finds out she is pregnant but Yago denies paternity saying it could have been Rodolfo’s (yeah, right).  Both Dionisio and Cayetano swear to do the right thing; Dionisio by threatening Yago with bodily harm or feigned happy wedding and Cayetano by cutting Yago off without a peso if the child turns out to be an Albarran.

Everybody in LMQ and LBV now know Pablo is the love-child of a relationship between Big Don Daniel and Rocio (the love part was her delusion, not his).  Cayetano kicks Rocio off the rancho and out of his life.

Natalia finally learns from Amanda who her bio-dad is, it is Dionisio Ferrer, aka Hector Gutierrez.  When she confronts him, he denies it at first then says it might be true and suggests she get a DNA test. He lies telling her he never knew of her existence and he and Amanda were never married.  He burns the document with the Hector Gutierrez name on it. The test proves Natalia is indeed Dionisio's daughter

Dionisio learns Alonso was not Isa’s bio-child and that Rosario, the nurse was his bio-mom.  He is not pleased.

The OR/LPN nurse where Alonso is taken after the car accident is Rosario.  She recognizes the name and the description (Lazcano, age 34) as most probably the son sleaze-ball Lazcano wrenched from her arms to give to Isadora as an infant.  She is his bio-mom.

Gussy learns that Ximena (QEPD) was wanted in Monterrey for theft and fraud and Camila reveals the theft of a large sum of money when she first arrived at La Malquerida.

Natalia learns from her mother that her father is not dead and he wasn’t a very nice guy.  But, no amount of pleading will get her to reveal his name or identity.  Amanda swears she’ll never tell.  The story will come to light, no doubt.

Gussy spots Amanda on a street in Aculco and when Dionisio sees her, realizes who she is.  He visits her and threatens her not to try to leave again, or else.  Meanwhile, Natalia has left her job at la Buenaventura and Camila doesn’t want her back at la Malquerida (because Dionisio is there), so what happens?  Dionisio, knowing she's his daughter, offers her a job in town, a big pay raise and a car.  She takes the job, the pay raise and the car.

Ximena interrupts a more than friendly kiss between Dionisio and Hissydora, but is “persuaded” it means nothing and she’d better keep her mouth shut.  FX observes as Dio & Hissy have a little tête-a-tête ending with a light kiss as she leaves to go back to the fiesta.
Unfortunately for Daniel and Alonso, Ximena overhears Alonso identifying Andres as Daniel and tells Isadora.

In episode #77, Alonso learns D’Andres’ true identity by accident in the cabaña and promises to keep the information to himself, in return for assistance in keeping him out of jail for signing the contract for land that didn’t belong to him.

Alonso finds out from Licenciado Salomon (Isadddora’s crooked notario) that he is the product of old man Lascano and a servant girl.  Al asks what his mother’s name was, and Salomon says it was Rosario.

In episode #72, a very weak Daniel, who left the hospital without permission because Camila stayed away, arrives at Camila’s cabaña and tells her he is not Daniel's spy instead he says, "Yo soy Daniel Diaz Acosta."  He tells her everything he knows about his situation. She’s furious, but she listens.  She puts him to bed and ministers to his fever, but will not let her head forgive him.

Amanda has just received the shock that the husband she fled from with Natalia as a baby is none other than the man who is now passing himself off as Dionisio Ferrer.  It is most likely that she did not divorce him legally.  For her it is immaterial, since she has never tried to remarry.  He may be in trouble since he married Gussy in Las Vegas.

The results of the DNA test that Dan had done with samples of Camila's hair and whatever he used  for himself came back negative. Daniel and Camila are NOT related. However, if Francisco Javier Diaz is Daniel’s father AND Ximena’s father, then Camila shares a step-father with both Ximena and Daniel.
Daniel has just learned that Mr. Francisco Javier Diaz has arrived in Aculco and presented himself as his father. Ximena and Agustina recognized this gentleman as Ximena's bio-dad, as did Camila, so it is pretty certain this part of the relationship is correct.

Doña Rocio (Pablo’s mother) and Refugio, the nana, have discussed Pablo and Camila's family relationship—that Don Daniel is Pablo's bio-dad, so he and Camila are first cousins.  Rocio wants them kept apart to prevent that relationship from coming to light.

Pablo and Camila share a rare blood type, RH negative. After her accident being gored by the bull, he was able to give her a direct transfusion.

DON DANIEL’S LETTER TO DANIEL DIAZ ACOSTA (thanks to 5ft Latina for the translation)
Daniel, you don't know me.  Maybe you've never heard of me.  I don't really know.  I hope this revelation doesn't affect the image you have of your mother, may she rest in peace, but I can't keep it quiet.  I knew Agatha over 30 years ago. I loved her more than my life, and now isn't the moment to try to justify anything, but our encounter happened at the wrong time.  We were both married, but in spite of that, our love was clean and sincere.  I regret I didn't have the courage to confront the whole world to love her freely, the way she deserved.

With her recent death, I learned of your existence and the possibility that you could be my son won't leave me in peace.  I tried to find out, so I had you investigated.  I'd like to do a DNA test to confirm it, but that will only happen if you agree and when we're face to face, if life allows that to happen.  But since I can't wait for that to happen, in order to protect my beloved niece, Camila, I've made the decision to change my will and leave you as my sole heir, in case I die before you and I are together.

Now I need your help, and I want to ask you for a huge favor, now that I have anyone else to rely on.  I know this might take you by surprise and change your life, but I just found out my niece is in danger because she's fallen into the hands of leeches--her husband Alonso and one Dionisio Ferrer.  They've gotten close to her with bad intentions, to divest her of La Malquerida and all the goods they think she will inherit the day I die.  Camila is my adoration, the daughter I never had.  She's a woman of values and good feelings.

I feel responsible for throwing her into Alonso's arms and since at this moment I can't think of another way to protect her, I've decided to leave you all my goods, supposing you are my son.  If you're not, in exchange for your help, you'll be able to live comfortably with what I'm leaving you for the simple fact of being Agatha's son and for the love I had for her.  I know you're a good man and you'll help me get justice in case I can't do it.  When you're both safe, share my inheritance with her.  At this moment the two of you are my two greatest treasures.  I hope you can understand my desperation and receive in advance my appreciation and my eternal gratitude.  Daniel Monterde.

WHAT MIRIAM HAS YET TO LEARN (by our Vivi; added to and amended by Anita)
Which part will she overhear? Which part will Dan and/or Abe tell her? Which part will she deduce? (Miriam is very intuitive.)  She's already figured out that Dan seems to REALLY care for/is preoccupied with the folks at MQ, especially Luzma and Camila. She said this last night (phfft-when was that...before Ep.#147). That's not much of a leap to figuring out that what he feels for Camila goes beyond just caring about her (if for a minute she can just stop making it all about ME).

1) Abe threw Dan in jail and threw away the key for her attempted murder. (She knows by Ep.#147)
2) Abe lied to Dan about her being dead soon after that. (She knows by Ep.#147)
3) Dan escaped from prison and came to Mexico many months ago, rather than a couple of weeks (She knows by Ep.#147).
4) The attempt on her life had to do with Dan's inheritance and that it was Dionisio who planned it. (She knows by Ep. #147)
5) Since coming to Mexico, Dan has been involved in an elaborate and dangerous game of intrigue to protect and defend himself, Camila, Gussie, Luzma, Natalia and the people at MQ from Dio, Isa and their minions (Leo, Bruno, Al, Xi, Julian-- all mostly dead now) from getting their hands on LMQ.
6) She supposedly has a fatal flaw--a brain aneurysm that may burst any time now under 'estress.'
7) Dan and Cam fell in love and got married while they thought she was dead and just about everyone else around her knows this.
8) Dan has dual citizenship--Mexican and Chilean.

MIX ‘N MATCH – PAIRS AND SPARES
Since everybody now knows that Andres is Daniel (except poor Bruno who died before anyone could tell him), we’ve substituted a new guessing game (thanks to Our Vivi, again):

Couples who no longer can be a pair on earth:
Alonso-Ximena

Couples we like for the long run:
Camila-Daniel (second couple to be married)
Luzma-Pablo (first couple to be married)
Viviana-Rafael (they're in lurvvve) and he's accepted Roman into their lives
Amanda-Osvaldo (she’s accepted Osvaldo, not sure if they are novios formally)
Dorotea-Eluterio (officially novios)
Piedad-Hipolito (officially prometidos--Hip asked Luzma for Piedad's hand)
Tolentino-Irene (he very shyly asked her to go for ice cream with him; she accepted)
Miriam-Mariano (they've shared house decorating, food & baby/daughter with each other)
Teresa-Dante (they did "it" and liked "it" one night after drinking to forget their longing for others)

Couples we want to see broken up:
Natalia-Yago
Gussy*-Dio (DONE - but at great danger to Augustina's life)

Couple coupling but do not intend to be a couple:
Isadora-Dionisio

Couple we believe will be together at the end:
Rodolfo-Natalia (after she ends it with Yago and admits to being blinded by Yago)

NOTE: This list is getting shorter and shorter now.
Men available for pairing:
Aaron; Yago (after he ends it with Nat--but do we really want him with someone else?)

Women available for pairing:
Iliana; Mayena (New Girl)

*Gussy does not get added to the list of available women due to the three strikes, you're out rule. She needs to remain single and do some soul searching.

REASONS AUGUSTINA DOESN’T LIKE DANIEL (by Carolina)
She didn’t like him even before she met him (or hadn’t realized that he was Andres) for usurping Camila as heir and because she assumed that he was the bastard of Don Daniel.

She liked him when he was Andres until she found out that he had abused the trust she had placed in him by having an affair with Camila.

She disliked him once she knew he was Agatha’s son, her rival for Don Daniel’s affections.

Daniel distrusts Dio and has accused him of a number of misdeeds and crimes. Augustina is in deep denial about Dio. People who are in denial become really angry and hostile towards anyone who tries to chip away at it. This is how she is reacting to Dan.

She hates Daniel’s father, Francisco, with good reason.  He cheated on her with a good friend and stole her money—then shows up at the ranch to mooch off them some more.

She is not comfortable that his relationship with Camila started out as a lie. Camila had the same problem when she first learned Daniel’s identity. They don’t like being lied to. It took Camila a looooong time to get past it and Augustina hasn’t gotten past it yet.

She loves Camila and is trying to protect her from a man that she doesn’t like or trust. We may see that protection as misguided, but that is how Augustina sees it and that is what motivates her.

She pigeon holes people and she doesn't handle changes in people's status very well – Pablo, Amanda, Nat and Dan are all examples of that. Camila does not share this trait with her mom at all, and seems to be exceptionally good at going with the flow.

She has a hard time in general with and distain for women who have sex outside of marriage and also has a huge problem with children born out of wedlock. Even though she now knows Daniel is not a bastard, she originally pigeon holed him as that so it continues to be a problem.

OUR VIVI’S VERSION OF THE MALQUERIDA BACKSTORY
Vivi has been trying to figure out the timing of Agatha being in Aculco at a critical juncture.  This is a logical timeframe to hang the backstory on.  She envisions it based on the morsels of information that have been dropped along the way.  What we cannot put into this timeline is when Don Daniel and his next door neighbor, Rocio, did the roll-in-the-caballeriza-hay thing to beget Pablo.

Agatha & Amanda:
- Amanda said they knew each other as girls/young women, and it seems Agatha spent a lot of time in Aculco as a young woman, but we don’t know exactly why.  She is Chilean. Amanda grew up in Aculco before she went to the big city and met and married Dionisio Ferrer (who at the time was using a different name, Hector Gutierrez—but we do not know if that is his real name).

- When they were in their late teens/early 20s, Agatha goes to Mexico (for university or something.)  Maybe it is there she meets Amanda and they become best friends. Agatha meets Don Daniel either in Mexico City or Aculco. They fall in love, but nothing comes of it and they part ways.

- A few years later, Agatha, who stayed in Mexico (likely Mexico City or another big city), is married to Francisco Xavier but realizes she might have made a mistake in her choice of husband. She goes to visit her friend Amanda in Aculco to clear her head and think things over. (In Amanda's memory, Agatha is telling Amanda her husband's name. Clearly he wasn't there with her.)

- Agatha reconnects with Don Daniel during this visit, but unfortunately he is also married. They don't discuss their spouses, but they realize their love is very deep and gets rekindled. They have an affair.

- Realizing this is all wrong, Agatha leaves and returns to her husband. She decides to give the marriage another chance and suggests they try that second chance in her home country of Chile.  She gets pregnant by FX.

- Once they get to Chile, it becomes obvious that FX is never going to change. Agatha decides to end the marriage. FX returns to Mexico, never to be heard from by her again.  Several months later she gives birth to a boy she names Daniel.  (It could be that FX was lying when he told Hissy that Agatha kept him informed on Daniel and had seen pictures of him as a child, even as he identified a pircture of Aaron, Rafa’s brother, as his son.)

How Agustina fits into Agatha’s story:
- Don Daniel married Agustina’s cousin Amparo. Agustina, though silently in love with Don Daniel, married the next best thing-- Don Daniel's brother.

- A few years later, Don Daniel's wife, Amparo died.  His brother, Agustina’s husband, has also died. His widowed sister-in-law Agustina comes to live with him.

- When it becomes clear that even though they are both widowed, Don Daniel won't give her the time of day, Agustina falls for the first man who crosses her path and asks her to marry him.  That would be Sr. Fortune Hunter FX.

- Gussy probably was aware that when Don Daniel was young, he fell in love with that Chilena esa, Agatha. Before her death, Amparo confides in Gussy that Agatha had returned to visit Amanda and she and Don Daniel had a fleeting affair. Gussy's hatred of Agatha grows even more.

- Even though Don Daniel never knew who FX was, it's a good bet FX knew who the rich rancher his wife had always been in love with was. He might have even approached Gussy in the first place, purposely to infiltrate the Monterdes and get some of their money- partly because it was a good opportunity, and partly because it was a bit of revenge-- just like now.

- In this way, Gussy and Don Daniel would have never known FX had been Agatha's husband, though Amanda would have known him by name (Agatha might have even shown her a pic).

This sounds a bit complicated, but that's how Vivi pictures it.

CAMILA AND DANIEL, FALLING IN LOVE
The following is a brief digest of episodes (with the ##) of Camila and Daniel beginning with the intense attraction to each other, falling in love and declaring their love to each other.

EPISODE #22 – BORRACHA
D’Andres is driving a very drunk Camila home from an evening at Vivi’s house.  They have a conversation about infidelity and lost loves. Once inside the cabaña, they continue their conversation.  Finally, D’Andres picks her up, much to her protestations, and carries her to her bed.  The two are face to face. She asks if she is so disagreeable that is why Alonso was with someone else (the paid escort).  Their faces are kissing close as D’Andres ponders the question.  As the possibility of a kiss surfaces, she passes out. He puts her down on the bed and takes off her boots.  As he covers her, he leans over, but resists the temptation to kiss her and tucks her in gently and leaves the room.

EPISODE #24 – CAIDA DEL CABALLO
Camila falls off her horse.  D’Andres is the first one to reach her.  When her ankle hurts too much to walk, D’Andres easily picks her up, while Camila protests. She puts her arms around his neck and thanks him.  He answers it wouldn’t have been right to leave her there—he does his job; he’s her chauffeur and she is his patrona. Their faces are inches away from each other.  She looks as if she would have given in if he had tried to kiss her, but he turns his head away and carries her back to the hacienda.

EPISODE #32 – PRIMER BESO
Camila, in a bit of a funk, goes for a horseback ride in a rain storm. She dismounts in a clump of trees. D’Andres arrives. He takes off his jacket and as he puts it around her, he pulls her to and leans in slowly for a kiss. She kisses him back. She finally stops, pushes him away and says, no, no and leaves. He calls after her, but she won't stop. Later, he wants to talk about what happened under the tree. “Nothing happened,” she says. “Yes it did,” he says, “a kiss happened.  And for me that kiss was magical.”  “It didn’t mean anything to me,” she replies. “You can say whatever you want,” he says, getting close, “but your eyes don’t lie. I know you wanted that kiss, too.” “You are sooo wrong,” she says.  She reminds him of his position at the ranch and asks him never to come near her again.  After a bath and changing, Camila walks out to the courtyard to give D’Andres back his jacket.  They run through the same conversation as before, but it’s obvious she’s rattled by the attentions of this handsome stranger, especially because she’s already admitted to her Diosito that she’s in love with him.

EPISODE #35 – COSAS
D’Andres enters Camila’s cabaña at the end of the day when he heard she was looking for him.  She says she doesn’t need him anymore and he can leave.  He leans over her and says, that he, on the other hand, needs her more each day.  Camila stands to face him and tells him again to leave. D’Andres ignores her and tells her he never thought “this” would happen. What “this,” she wants to know. He caresses her cheek as she continues to look at him, but doesn’t move.  He answers her, “There are things we can’t deny, things we haven’t the words for, things we simply feel, things that seize control of one. That.”  He tells her good night and leaves.  Again, Camila is rattled by her growing feelings for D’Andres.

EPISODE #40 – MEDIO BESO
When Camila returns to the cabaña she is surprised and a bit indignant to find D’Andres in her bedroom, “What are you doing here at this hour?”  “I was awaiting your return to make sure you were alright, and bringing you this flower (presents it). I hope this is the one that pleases you.”  Holding the flower between them, D’Andres says, “It smells good.” “This flower doesn’t have a smell.” “But you do.” He moves closer and kisses her left cheek.  “Andres, por favor, por favor,  no, no,” she protests weakly, but she doesn’t move away. “Why won't you let yourself feel what you want to feel?  He’s punctuating his words with kisses until he gets to her lips. Their lips barely touch when Rafael enters, interrupting, –Camila!  Camila and D’Andres separate quickly, but Rafael didn't miss what had been transpiring.  Alone again, Camila fantisizes another round of kissing with D’Andres.

EPISODE #42 – NOCHE DE FLORES Y ESTRELLAS
Daniel is getting ready to reveal himself to Camila the next morning.  Fearing rejection, he has filled her cabaña bedroom with flowers and stars hanging from the ceiling.  He has left her a note. It starts out, “Guapa: Si lloras por haber perdido el sol, las lágrimas no te dejarán ver las estrellas. Y quiero que las veas siempre para que recuerdes que, pase lo que pase entre nosotros, siempre habrá una mañana. Camila, te amo.”* She doesn’t need to be told who wrote it. She falls asleep and dreams of making love with Andres. [*Loose translation: If you cry for having lost sight of the sun, your tears won’t let you see the stars. And I want you to always see them so you remember, that whatever happens between us, there will always be a tomorrow. Camila, I love you.]

EPISODE #43 – DECLARAN SU AMOR
The famous meeting does not take place. That night Camila has D’Andres in her cabaña and wants to know if what he said in his note is true.  Yes, it’s true; he loves her.  She replies that she loves him, too.  In the midst of these declarations and passionate kisses, Camila tells him she wants to have a relationship with him, but only if it’s done right, after she has her divorce.  D’Andres wants to have time to clear up some things about his own past, so he’s ok with this, and for keeping their love for each other a secret for the time being.

EPISODE #49 – HACEN EL AMOR
While in the hospital recovering from the goring by the bull, D’Andres and Camila have to keep their feelings in check.  The night she is released Camila arranges to stay in her cabaña alone with the exception of a clandestine visit from D’Andres. He comes in with a huge bouquet of flowers.  Hola, Guapa.  She holds out her arms for him.  He takes her in his arms.  They begin to share kisses.  He was so afraid he was going to lose her.  She said but she survived, here she is because she wanted to be in his brazotes again, see his ojitos again, feel his skin, his lips.  They are so wrapped up in each other and in their love.  And because of this love, he wants to tell her something very important.  She shushes him with her kisses. No, no, some other time.  He does try to speak but she insists on kissing him.  She puts aside her resolve to do things right and gives in to her passion for Daniel when she realized that there might not have been a tomorrow. She wants him to spend the night with her. He does and they make love for the first time, although Camila confesses the next day it was not the first time *she* made love to him. He enjoys her little story about her dream the Noche de Flores and waking up with Maja. Ay, papi!! Te doy mi alma, para que hagas lo que quieras de mi!

EPISODE #54 - CUENTA SU HISTORIA
Daniel tells Camila the truth about his whole background, while never revealing he is the "cousin" Daniel she's been waiting for to step forward and claim his inheritance. He holds this information back on Padre Anselmo's advice that he not reveal himself to her until his situation in Chile is all cleared up.

EPISODE #72 – YO SOY DANIEL DIAZ ACOSTA
A very weak Daniel has left the hospital while recovering from a gunshot wound and arrives at Camila’s cabaña.  He tells her everything he knows about his situation.  She’s furious, but she listens.  She has to decide whether it is more important to listen to her head or to her heart.

EPISODE #83 – RECONCILIACIÓN
Daniel has moved in with Viv and Rafa.  In a scuffle with Bruno, he reopens his wound and Camila is called to treat him.  She's still keeping her distance, but when she finds out he's going to turn himself in to the authorities, she goes to him and admits she can’t live without him.  Me rindo; me rindo a mi, me rindo a ti, a nuestro amor (i.e. I surrender).  Daniel tells her he’s glad she listened to her heart. The reconciliation extends to the Scooby Doo gang.

EPISODES #85-86 – PIDE MATRIMONIO
After a very amorous reconciliation, Daniel gives her the medallion he’s been wearing as a symbol of his love and commitment, since he doesn’t have a ring to give her.  Then drops to one knee and asks Camila to marry him.  She accepts.  Next morning, the Scooby Doo gang, now including Camila, has a group hug over the news.

CAMILA’S ARGUMENTS BETWEEN HEAD AND HEART – Another of Our Vivi’s insights.
Both Camila's heart and head were right. Her head told her there is something about this guy that didn't add up, he's hiding something, he's up to something. Her head was right. She remembers being really mean to him in the beginning, questioning all of his actions. Cami hired him against Al’s wishes, almost to spite him. At the time she didn’t know he was the same tipo she thought was stalking her at Vivi’s. Al & Leo assigned him to work mucking out the stables, hoping he would resign. When Gussy found out he was the same tipo she almost ran over on the road working at the ranch, she wants to reassign him to be her chauffeur. The letters of recommendation were given to Gussy. Cami tried to fight her mom on the decision, but Gussy would not be swayed. Once he was closer to the ranch house, Dan worked hard to get under Cami's skin and gain her trust. She fought it for a while, but then attraction and love won out. Plus, everything she observed about him from that point on showed her that he is a good person.

This is where her heart took over. She still resisted for a while, even when she admitted her feelings for him. She then decided to take things slow. But after her near death experience (where HE saved her) she decided to throw caution to the wind, and threw her whole heart (and body) into a relationship with Andres. Her heart was not wrong. Dan/Andres is a good person and he does love her. All of this is bound to cause confusion for her as she tries to come to terms with the fact that her initial suspicions about him may be correct.

THE CHILE CONNECTION
Abraham hated Dan because he wasn't Jewish and thought Dan was after Miriam's money. That didn’t change after Dan converted to Judaism and married her.

If a gunpowder test had been done on Dan, there would have been residue on his hands because of his struggle with Julian.  Julian wore gloves, so it would have been just one more proof Dan was the killer.

Abe uses the insurance policy on Miriam’s life as one more proof Dan was the killer.  He doesn’t change his mind after Dante tells him it was Miriam who took out the policy.

Dan's friend Dante told Abraham Daniel had no reason to kill Miriam for money because he was coming into a huge inheritance from Mexico and was going to leave the day after the shooting to claim it.

Even though Dan was a convert and was on his way to claim a huge amount of money, the two "objections" Abraham had to Dan, Abe doesn't care because he wants Daniel away from Miriam.

There is no proof that Miriam is dead other than what Abraham told Dan at the prison.

If Miriam IS alive, that really puts Dan in a bind because he loves Miriam but he also loves Camila. Which one will he choose and would Miriam even want him back? Could he even go back to Miriam, with what happened with her brother?

If Miriam is still pregnant it gets even stickier because Daniel's not going to abandon his child...but Miriam still may not want to be with him. Or maybe she would, seeing the whole situation as her brother's fault?

ANON207’s LIST OF DANIEL’S CHILE TROUBLES
It seems there were never any charges filed against Daniel in connection with the murder/attempted murder of Miriam.  So far, Teresa has learned that no police/arrest file/records exist on Daniel Diaz Acosta.

a) Teresa needs to find out for sure if Miriam is alive or not.
b) Teresa needs to find out why Abraham is on a leave of absence (i. suspicion of wrongful incarceration in the DDA’s case;  ii. or taking care of a not-dead Miriam).
c) Daniel can't really be a fugitive from justice if he was never charged in the first place.  The fact that there are no charges filed against Daniel kind of indicates that Miriam is probably not dead. If Miriam WAS dead, and her husband has disappeared, wouldn't there be murder charges against him in absencia?
d) If Chilean officials are/were investigating the jailbreak that led to the escape of Daniel Diaz Acosta there would have to be a paper trail. Since it appears no charges were ever filed against Daniel for him to be locked up in the first place, there might be an investigation into WHY he was there in the first place, leading to suspicion on Abraham.
e) Dante will be important for Teresa to find out information about Miriam.  Since Miriam bought the life insurance policy through him he would know if she was dead or not. If she did die, and there were no charges ever filed against Daniel, Daniel is the beneficiary of her life insurance policy.
f) Dante could've also raised questions about the charges(lack thereof) against Daniel (leading to Abraham's "leave of absence)
g) Since Daniel is a dual Mexican/Chilean citizen, I wonder if Osvaldo will invoke that to get Dan out of trouble for entering Mexico illegally?

OUR VIVI’S DESCRIPTION OF THE ORIGINAL PLOT TO TAKE LA MALQUERIDA AND WHY IT WENT WRONG

The villains initially thought they had a simple plan. Don Daniel was an old sick man who was going to die soon (or they would help along) and his only heir was a weak/heartbroken young womon who was going to be easy to manipulate and/or get out of the way. It was relatively easy to use her grief to get her married to Alonso. They signed a contract with the developers, which was pretty easy to do as Alonso was the manager of the ranch and could make it look like he was acting on behalf of the owner of the ranch.

The signing of the contract was key. They can't get out of it, or they (really Al) go to jail for fraud. Plus, there is a LOT of money at stake. They must get their hands on the ranch at all cost because of this.

They did not count on Don Dan changing his will or on Camila turning out to not be such a delicate flower. That threw their plans off and everything since then has been an effort to save their butts and salvage the signed contract. They've had to make it up as they go along ever since their original plan went down the crapper.  So far, they’ve been lucky that bureaucracy (with a little bribery from Dio) has tied up some of the approvals and the developers have to wait.

When Agustina's husband died, she made a play for Don Daniel (whom she had been in love with secretly), but he never saw her as a potential new mate. He was still in love with Agatha
Agustina met Mr. Diaz. They married. He took her for a fool, had an affair with her friend and stole her money. But stayed long enough to father Ximena.

Camila shares the same step-father with Ximena and Daniel

Lover of Isadora
Novio of Agustina; married her for convenience
Covets La Malquerida and Camila

OTHER RELATIONSHIPS
Luis, Camila’s fiancé was killed in an automobile accident on a highway at night while Camila was the driver. She felt responsible and became depressed, so her mother moved her to La Malquerida at the invitation of her uncle, Don Daniel.

Viviana (photographer) & Bruno are divorced; they had a baby named Octavio who died b/c Bruno beat the hell out of Viviana while pregnant with Octavio; he has found her and has begun to menace her. Bruno also knows Ximena.

Aaron (NGO-Peace Corp-hippie commune type) & Rafael (published author) are brothers; Aaron agreed to help Daniel and recently starred as "Daniel Diaz Acosta," aka D'Aaron. They have been living with Viviana, but have decided to move out to give Vivi some space to think about her future.

Andres Duarte & Daniel Diaz Acosta were cellmates in Chile. During the jailbreak Andres died & Daniel assumed his identity. Daniel had enough time to erase his records before the break, so technically Chilean officials are not looking for him (but could be looking for Andres Duarte…). Daniel Diaz Acosta recently finished his role starring as "Andres Duarte" aka D'Andres.

Miriam Farca is/was Daniel Diaz Acosta's pregnant wife. Shot by Dio's henchman, Julian, we don't know if she really is dead or not...that's what Abraham Farca, Miriam's brother told Daniel while in lockup. She and her family were Jewish and the only way he could marry her was to convert to Judaism. They had a traditional Jewish wedding in Chile.

Dante, an insurance agent in Chile and Daniel’s BFF. Was out of touch when Dan was put in prison. He told Abe that it was NOT Daniel that took out the life insurance policy on Miriam, it was Miriam herself. We do not know what Abe did with that information. Meets Teresa in Chile.
Luz Maria is Piedad's daughter & Leoncio's niece. Luzma and Pablo Albarán were in love and going to get married secretly when the story begins. We know Luzma's dad was Fidencio, who left Piedad pregnant and stood her up at their wedding. Leoncio’s flashback shows him garroting and shooting Fidencio in order to keep Piedad at his side (sick). He told Piedad Fidencio was no good and had abandonded her.

Hipolito, Fidencio’s best friend has reconnected with Piedad when she came to check out Fidencio’s story in his hometown. He confirms that Leoncio killed Fidencio because he saw him do it.
Julian was Dionisio’s right hand killer henchman who shot Miriam in Chile and was in Mexico looking for Daniel. It turns out he is/or was Fidencio’s twin brother. Leoncio recognized him and shot him dead, while Daniel and Rafa watched from a hiding place.

Lic. Becerra, family notario, was in love with Agustina, but rejected by her in favor of Dionisio. He now recognizes Amanda’s special qualities and wants a relationship with her. She's hesitating.

Teresa, attorney, sister of Padre Anselmo, has come to help Daniel clear up the problem in Chile. She is an old friend of the Albarrán family, as is the Padre himself, who went to school with Mariano. Mariano had been in love with Teresa before he met his wife, now dead.

Abismo de pasión #145 10/9/12: Sex and the Cenote -- or -- He's just not that into you.

After the Boda's over ... sorting out the early winners and the losers based on exit polling

Because yes, folks, they do go through with it.  Gael may be stealing glances at Elisa even while he is exchanging vows with Paloma.  He may look as if he is before a guillotine and not an altar.  But he says the words and so does Paloma.

The guy in the banana yellow shirt* is, at least for the moment, the happiest man in La Ermita.  Gael has been bagged and tagged and now Dam is one step closer to Elisa.  ¡Mi Elisa!

[*Sources close to the production report that Dam is wearing matching banana yellow underpants.  And they are also pretty happy.]

Who's the happiest girl? Paloma, you say?  Not even close!  It's Flor.  Now that her rival is off the market, not even deep mourning can keep the not quite smirk off her face.  Paloma smiles bravely but she notices what Gael is doing even as she tries to deny it to herself.

The most disgruntled and graceless?  Ramona is unhappy, true, but when you add points for lack of class, Shallow Gael is a shoo-in.   Apparently he was zoning out during the "till death do us part" part of the vows.  He's still putting the moves on Elisa.

Por ella soy Eva #60 10/9/12: Modesto Does Indeed Have a Second Family

  • Remember a condom fell out of Jennifer's purse, causing the Cro-Magnon to puff up like a bullfrog? Marcela thought fast and said it was Kevin's, so suddenly Fer is all happy that his son is banging somebody. "THAT'S MY BOY!" He is SUCCCH a jerk.

Marcela, knowing the condom was Jennifer's, calls to talk. Jennifer says she isn't particularly PLANNING to have sex but "better safe than sorry. Anyway, Daniel is a love, nothing is going to happen." Marcela marvels that adolescence is so complicated.

  • Helena, grinning at the gigantic flower arrangement, encourages Eva to go for it with Adriano. Eva indignantly says she will stay with her good memories and implies Helena should be doing the same.

  • Eva tells Adri to quit it or get slammed with a harrassment suit. "You're taking advantage of a fragile, weak widow. No more flowers, next time I'll dump them on your head with all the water. And don't look at me when I leave!" Adri growls with desire. "She loves me, she loves me not ..." He eats a flower...

  • It's time for a corporate trip to the beach to repair damaged relations with the locals. Rebe has a tantrum because the trip is this weekend, that's not enough time for her to prepare, nobody cares if she goes or not.

  • "STOP fighting with Helena!" Pluto shouts at Rebe. They fight, he chokes her, she finds it very sexy. They barely detach from their clinch in time for Helena's entrance. Pluto: "I called Rebe in here to make her apologize to you, Helena." "Sorry" says Rebe, venemously. Helena apologizes too: "Let's work in harmony."

  • Phone gossip on the job: Rebe lies to her friend Angelica that she's been having fabulous sex with Pluto. Angela brags about how wonderful it is to be married and lounging around doing nothing in Santi's overpriced luxury apartment. Rebe sneers - Santi hasn't told anybody he's married.

  • Mimi to Eva: "It isn't fair to tell Helena to wait for Juan Carlos!" Eva/JC moans: there's been no progress in proving his innocence and he can't get into the lockbox.

  • Eva brings Eugenia to the hospital for studies and tells a nurse he hopes "She'll be as she used to be." "How do you know how she used to be?"

The doctor asks Eva what medicines Eugenia has been taking and says "Her husband should know all about this, I'd like to talk to him."

  • Eva/JC goes to see Modesto. A mom and daughter come out of Modesto's office. "I told you not to come here Carmen, we'll talk later." "Adios, Papa," says the daughter, Claudia. "I'll expect you tonight in the hotel," says Carmen.

"My father is the worst hypocrite!" JC gasps. By he worms the name of the hotel out of Claudia (Mallorca) but Carmen frostily refuses help getting there: "We're of the provinces and we know SOME people might rob us in the big city."

  • A giant gossipping session is interrupted when Santi's wife comes in and throws herself into his lap, shouting "don't you want to tell your friends about your wife?" He tries to push her out the door, she makes a huge scene, he's mortified.

  • Helena asks Pluti a favor: she'd like to see Toni's thesis since Adri wants to dedicate the project to his dead sister. He stalls. He reminds her what a thief Juan Carlos was. "You need to forget him."

  • I am confused because somehow Pluto seems to have gotten hold of some generic thesis on Playa Majagua and he tells Onesimo: "I need you to change all the dates in this so it will seem like Antonia's thesis. We also have to prove JC was a vile thief." Onesimo is on the job.

  • Lucia is mad she wasn't first to hear Pluto declared his love. Helena says she isn't thrilled because she still loves Juan Carlos. "I feel he is very close, that he's with me all the time, even his scent. As if he never died... I think of him and it hurts." Lucia thinks life is short, Helena should turn the page.

  • Back at the hospital, Eva says she couldn't find the husband. Eugenia wants a treat so she and Eva go to a bar for booze and cigars. By accident Eva says "Salud, mama - ha- ha." and asks "Why didn't you leave your husband when you found out he had another family?" "He's all I've got."

  • Santi isn't so pleased with how easy it was to marry a crazy girl from the barrio. He has no idea what to do. He isn't hungry. He goes for a walk.

Tucking a napkin into her infantile husband's shirt before he tucks into the food she cooked for him (where's his high chair), Marcela says: "After work we need to talk about sex with the kids."

  • Kevin is back at Candy Sweet's door with a card and a present. "Love is poetry, I love you even if you don't want me to." "A boy your age should not be with a girl like me, find a girl your age and give HER flowers. Open your eyes and find her. Goodbye, I wish you the best." He wants to keep writing to her. She doesn't answer.

  • Lalo's school director wants to talk to Helena, can she come early to school? Pluto once again invites himself along but Helena slips out alone. "What's that darn squirt done now?" Pluto growls.

  • Adri comes into Mimi's office to ask where Eva is and find out "What does she like? What are her hobbies, her favorite colors, her favorite perfumes? How can I conquer her?"

Mimi discourages him but he's tired of hearing about the dead spouse so she resignedly suggests: "Serenades, little favors, a big ice cream, tenderness, romance, but not libidinous behaviour." "I'm going to conquer her no matter what it costs me!"
It's possible that tomorrow Eugenia will discover that Eva is Juan Carlos.

Refugio Para el Amor #130 Tue 10/9/12 Head For The Shelter, We're In Full Catastrophe Mode Tonight

The worst has happened. Luciana and the baby are in danger and not only is Rodrigo far away, but Claudio is also. Here's the Wikipedia explanation of her condition:

Pre-eclampsia or preeclampsia is a medical condition in which hypertension arises in pregnancy (gestational hypertension) in association with significant amounts of protein in the urine.
Pre-eclampsia is a set of symptoms rather than any causative factor, and there are many different causes for the condition. It appears likely that there are substances from the placenta that can cause endothelial dysfunction in the maternal blood vessels of susceptible women.[1] While blood pressure elevation is the most visible sign of the disease, it involves generalized damage to the maternal endothelium, kidneys, and liver, with the release of vasoconstrictive factors being secondary to the original damage.
Pre-eclampsia may develop from 20 weeks' gestation (it is considered early onset before 32 weeks, which is associated with an increased morbidity). Its progress differs among patients; most cases are diagnosed before labor typically would begin. Pre-eclampsia may also occur up to six weeks after delivery. Apart from Caesarean section and induction of labor (and therefore delivery of the placenta), there is no known cure. It is the most common of the dangerous pregnancy complications; it may affect both the mother.

This is no telenovela pretend medical condition. A few years ago, a young mother I knew died (and her baby with her) after developing this. Her regualr ob-gyn was away and the doctor fielding his calls did not realize the gravity of her condition. By the time action was taken, it was too late.

BARRIO
The group is alerted and head off for the clinic after explaining to Marianita that she can't go. Serena will stay with her. Lastra, still skulking around the neighborhood, calls Ofelia. She tries to blow him off but thankfully, he manages to tell her that he saw Estellita and another woman putting Luciana into a taxi. Clearly she was seriously ill. Ofelia heads to the hospital also.

MANSION

Pato gets the call about Luciana's condition and he and Jana plan to go to the hospital. Roselena plasters on a worried face and asks if she can go along. Pato, who's not fooled for a minute, answers firmly that “You're the last person that Luciana would want to see.” Roselena turns away and thought bubbles “Ojalá the baby dies in your womb.”
Send Roselena straight to Hell. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

Abismo de pasión #144 10//8/12: Instructions for trapping the man of your dreams

RECAP BY CATHYX

  1. Find a horny guy, preferably one who lives in a rectory under the watchful eye of a priest.
  2. Throw yourself at him in his rectory bedroom. This should be done when the priest is expected home any minute. This will give him a taste of whatʼs to come.
  3. Try to commit suicide when he says he doesnʼt love you. If you succeed, there is no need to proceed to step 4.
  4. Bare yourself to him when you are alone at the cenote. Proceed with the sexual encounter. Do not use contraception of any form, repeat, do not use any contraception.

Amor Bravío #40 (Uni 35) Mon 10/8/12

Capitulo 40: Un Patán, Dos Asesinos, Tres Reptils, y Un Violador

Lo del Pasado

Ximeana notices that Andres has the same birthmark as she does.  Camila asks El Diablo to calm down about the paranoia regarding Daniel and her friends' possible involvement. As El Diablo does a slow burn behind her she reasserts her authority over the situation. Viewers should now be getting seriously peeved at Mama Metiche for doubting her ability to handle this.

Lo de Nuevo

La Malquerida, porch:   Rudolfo confronts Leoncio over the theft of his paycheck. He guesses (we think correctly) that this is because he defended Natalia. Leoncio is three sheets to the wind, but still pulls out his knife.  However, Rudolfo tells the sleazebag that all this is changing because he won't have Alonssso to protect him anymore. There will be a new administrator who will not be inclined to believe him.

Por ella soy Eva #59 10/8/12: Skyping the Afterlife

Helena and Pluto are out to eat, chatting about Majagua and surprise, he wants to talk about himself, not business. He's in love with her completely, he says. Didn't Juan do the same. Just give me a chance to conquer you. OH FOR HECKS SAKE. why is it always conquista? is that romantic at all? Anyway, she tells him he's a marvelous man but this moment is really not right and she will "take some time to think about her answer." Gentlemen, you should know by know that when a lady says this, the answer will never be yes. Ooh, and when he offers to walk her home (when she mentions the shrimp at home and cuts the meeting short), she turns him down. Awesome! I hope he's really embarrassed or something, not like he'd ever show it. Then she thinks back to Juan a bit and gives Pluto a limp handshake.

Oh dear lord, something must be grievously fubared with the floor-plan of GI's office, because people are NONSTOP hitting each other at hallway intersections. This time it's Santi and Lucia. They should install one of those convex mirrors at the corner so you can see who's coming. Anyway, if this happens so often (human collisions), you'd think people would be a bit more used to it, but Lucia spends about a minute stammering out awkward apologies. Anyway, he's really out-of-it over his accidental marriage.

surprise! Santi is not working, yelling at Angie over the phone. Fernie grills him for details on his Vegas trip (how many girls? a blondie? huh? you champion!)

Haha, Pluto drifting his convertible through the parking deck in a Helena-haze. Rebe spies her cachito and tries to get his attention, but he runs his car into her. She scratches his his car and yells, but I'm certain she'll swallow his lines as usual. How pathetic! O man, he's still telling her the whale is too fresh in the ground for lovin' on Rebe.

Helena brings the issue to her mom, who wisely counsels her to forget Juan.

At the caveman's house: he disapproves of his daughter having a boyfriend. He really reveals that his outrageously sensitive pride (can't he get some kind of roid-cream to reduce tenderness?) is threatened by the boy - he feels that everyone is talking about the "rockstar" boyfriend so much, it's almost like HE was the "protagonist of the house." The girl realizes that you can't reason with ape-man and changes the subject. Why hasn't he signed her permission form for the class trip to Camomila? He says he was going to sign it, but then he thought that maybe "rockstar" Daniel might go too, and there might be a beautiful full moon, and he didn't like the idea much anymore. Her: You prehistoric macho man, you can't keep me locked in here with your caveman ideals. Marcela intervenes and says she'll talk it over with Mr. Cro-Magnon, and the girls leave to do the dishes. Fernie loses his grip.

Mousse boy bumps into Rebe in the hall, invites her to the meeting tomorrow, and asks her to try not to make another scene like she did in that other meeting, and he suspects he had something to do with the consultoras (what happened there?). She gets mad: "look here, Salary Man (really? asalariado?), who do you think you are? You're a dead mosquito!" To accentuate the point, she makes mosquito wings and buzzes away. Whee!

Mimi and Juan yuk it up... Mimi is jealous of all the attention Eva is getting from Adriano and really seems to have a thing for the round little grump. Juan wants to see his mom to convince her to get tested. He calls her as Eva, but she refuses to get the tests unless Juan herself tells her to (have they been telling her Juan is on a long trip or something?).

Adriano is longing for Eva. Hah!

Chauvinist caveman is still dwelling on his daughter's boyfriend. He muses that the slugger must be really on the ball (buzo) to "conquer his daughter like she should be conquered." ugh.

Nice to see Santi procrastinating something other than work - he doesn't want to tell the guys she got married.

Mimi goes to Juan's Mom to set up a surprise, because "Eva couldn't make it."

Alone in her office, Helena indulges in a bit of dreaming about smooching Juan on the beach. Pluto busts in, suit just as shiny as ever. He persists with the mushiness, and she admits that she can't forget Juan. Interesting. Look at Pluto! Angry prune much?

Santi comes home to find his new bride has moved in and tackified his too-expensive pad with the "feminine touch" it was lacking. He wants her to keep the wedding a secret. I do enjoy watching him squirm. He's going to start having nervous breakdowns.

Mimi and Juan's mom are challenged by the security guy in the GI HQ, but Mimi bullies their way in. She won't get to see her son, but they've got a nice webchat set up. Mimi slips out and tells Juan that it's all ready. Wow, their meeting is so sweet! Funny thing, his mom sees a flat purple background behind him, but he's actually sitting in the messy makeup room. Television magic?

Lalo tells his mom she needs to get a boyfriend so she can be happy.

Meanwhile, Pluto bemoans his fate (competing with a corpse) with his sketchy mustache buddy (I always forget his name). Despite the futility of the situation, Pluto draws the absolute wrong conclusion and pledges to focus all of his energy on Helena. Ew!

The plan worked! Mom will go get tested, and asks Eva to accompany her.

Angelica boasts of her wedding to Rebe, her "best friend." Rebe talks down the "little chapel wedding." She is planning on a HUGE wedding. In lieu of her customary leopard print shirt, she has a furry bracelet with a weird chain hanging off it.

One scene later, the sketchy mustache flunky pays Rebe a visit - he brings a necklace of apology on Pluto's behalf! She is utterly disgusted by his comportment ("Quitate tus ojos libidinos de mi cuerpazo!") and claims utter distaste for these "cheapo gems," kicking him out and keeping the bling, which, as she admits once the dude is gone, are not bad at all. He tells her to be patient with Pluto, and gets more scorn in return: "what, me take advice from some naco marca chifles?

Eva gets a raft of flowers from Adriano.

Marcela suspects that Kevin has fallen in love. As they rush to get out the door to school, her daughter drops her purse and a bunch of pencils fall out. They scramble to pick them up, but Marcela spots and grabs a condom! Uh-oh! Last line of the show? Macho caveman blunders in and demands to know "WHOSE CONDOM IS THIS?"

Refugio Para el Amor #129 Mon 10/8/12 5 Months Later Brings-- 2 Baby Showers, 1 Early Baby, and a Papa and Grandpa 1/2 a World Away

Canada Doc has just told Gala and Rod they are having a beautiful, healthy baby GIRL! Gala looks like she wants to perform a sex change operation in utero. She tells the doc he must be mistaken. Rod looks happy for the first time in weeks. The doctor, trying to appease the ticked off mama, tells them there is a 10% chance of error, but he’s pretty sure it’s a girl. Gala latches on to the 10% as being his lack of professionalism, because SHE, the all-knowing, KNOWS that she’s having a BOY! Rod apologizes for his rude wife, but the doc politely says they can come back next time to confirm. Nope. The only way Gala is coming back to this fourth rate doctor’s office, is with the proof in hand to that he is WRONG! Rod looks like he wants to disappear into the wall.

Back in Mexico, in Casa TL, Frigida is complaining (what’s new?) about having to buy a ton of groceries for the ever shrinking TL family. Matilde tells her it’s normal for children to fly from the nest. Frigida calls them a bunch of ingrates (bola de ingratos). She brings up Connie as the prime example. Mati tells her to mind her own business. Speaking of…Connie waltzes into the kitchen, looking happy and content. She greets Frigida (who does her best to suck up), kisses Mati, and asks for her sister. (Why would she ruin her good mood by going to visit that witch?)

Amor Bravío #39 (Uni 34) Fri 10/5/12 Seeing Is Believing: Aaron’s Grand Entrance Leaves Dionisio With An Egg Facial

Cap.  39

Lo Del Pasado:
Dionisio throws Alonso under the bus and worms his way into placing himself through the back door as ranch manager for La Malquerida, vis-à-vis Agustina who’s just declared him “the most upright and honest man” that she knows—and, Gussie having such a sterling track record with men, who better to judge a book by its cover?   With Dan’s direction, Viviana sets the rest of the MI IV plan or, Operation Shine the Light, into motion by inviting everybody at La Malquerida to a surprise dinner party that Rafael is organizing for Camila for his book that same evening.

Cam has run into Mariano at the bank in town and discussed her needing a new ranch-manager at the M.Q., and her being there to change the signatures for the banking so she can do the payroll for the ranch employees (I think); and he’s told her that he also is responsible for the running of his daddy’s ranch along with Pablo.  He has offered to help her run the ranch—as a freebie--since he’s got the experience that she doesn’t.

Lo Del Nuevo:
Cami says thanks, but that’s too much responsibility for Mariano when he’s already got enough on his plate running his own place.  She doesn’t want to abuse his friendship.  However, they agree that she’ll call for advice whenever something gets a bit complicated and she runs into a problem.  In the meantime he could help her look for somebody permanent.

Dio and Gussie, meanwhile, have agreed to come to the surprise party, though Dio’s attitude toward Vivi is somewhat distant if not outright frosty.  In walks Ximena, straw sticking out of her hair (telltale signs of her literal roll in the hay with the ol’ BIL, lusting Lonnie-Come-Lately).  Gussie introduces Meana to Vivi and Dio tells her about the surprise party that evening.

Natalia finds Daniel outside in the shaded parts of the hacienda entrance and gives him word from Amanda that she’s found Trench the Hench’s, aka Julián’s, passport.  It shows he’s been to Chile recently.  She wants him to have some copies she’s made since she’s got to put back the passport where she found it, adds Nat. Dan worries that her mother’s taking too many risks with this, but Nat says knowing her mother, she won’t stop till she’s gotten to the bottom of things.

Hench follows Rafa to Vivi’s place.  Dio rings him on his cell a couple minutes later with a change of plans for a meet at La Luna Restaurant in a little while with a new job for him with Isadora’s house.  Gussie comes in with the maid holding a tray of coffee cups and sweetly asks if he’d like sugar.  She gets her head bitten off for her troubles.   Dionisio barks that she ought to learn that he takes it black (the color of his heart—that tiny little stony thing in the center of his chest with muddy ice-water running through it).

Back at Vivi’s, Rafa gives his brother Aaron a chance to back out if he wants to.  Aaron says no way; Dan’s a good guy and has proven himself with Rafa as a solid friend in need.  Just like Vivi, says Rafa, and neither one deserves the stuff that they’re going through right now!  Aaron agrees and adds that Viv’s an amazingly strong female, that despite the fact that she seems to be falling apart right now, she’ll manage to successfully confront her ex-husband.  Rafa underscores that sentiment.   “—If she doesn’t, then I sure will!  I refuse to let anybody ever hurt her again!”  Aaron looks at his brother with a discerning smile.  “—You say that as if you’ve got a thing for her.”  Rafa denies it.  ‘—Don’t exaggerate things! Camila, Viviana and Daniel are just very good friends.” The only ones he truly has in this place, he adds.

Back at the M.Q., D’Andres approaches Cam with the keys to her car and, as he gives them over, their hands touch again.  Again it’s electric!  (The sparks were literally leaping and spitting off my screen!) He leaves and then Luzma starts to walk past.  Cami grabs her and asks for an explanation for the other day.  Whatever in the world made her change her mind?  Luz Maria tells Cami that her wedding and her love for Pablo are now simply in the past.   Cam says her 180° change in attitude doesn’t make any sense.  It just doesn’t gibe, but since Gussie needs to talk to Camila, Luzma makes her escape.   Cami yells after her that they're going to finish this conversation later.

Dio joins Gussie, who mentions she heard Cam went over to see him the other day.  Cam tells her Mama that he should have told her they cleared up their differences.  Dio takes the moment to explain that since then her mother mentioned the difficulty she’d had with Alonso, the two of them talked it over and from now on Cam has no worries: he’ll be her new ranch-manager!  Cam is the-hell-you-say-impactada.  (Thanks be to the telenovela gods for writing in ingenious friends and acquaintances, aka guardian angelitos, like Lic. Osvaldo Becerra!!)  Cami’s bull-sh!t radar goes up.

Across the way at Hacienda La Buenaventura, Mariano is  acting like a kid with high school crush over Cami.  He mentions to Yago that he ran into Camila Monterde at the bank today.  He does a little happy-dance and admits that he really, really, REALLY likes Camila a heck of a lot!  Each time they meet, he’s more convinced that there is not another woman like her!  Yago says he thought she was married.  Yeah, says Mariano, but not for long cuz she was there to change the signature on the checks and said she was in need of a new ranch manager, that her husband used be the one handling all that.  Yago tells him that if she is single, and he and she got together and joined their two ranches that would be tremendous!!  But, he should settle things with Ana first.  Mariano’s bouncybubble bursts.  “--Oh, yeah.  Ana.” (Makes me sort of wonder if this guy’s really fickle or what when it comes to females…  So much for his  true love lecture to Luzma.)

Back at La Malquerida Cami says politely, thanks but no thanks.  She’s already hired somebody.  Mama Metiche states unequivocally—at least in her pea-brain sized mind—that there is simply nobody more qualified to run the ranch but Dionisio; she must simply call the other person and retract the offer.  Cami, to her credit, stands her ground and respectfully says No Can Do.  Mama Metiche feels Cam, as a woman, could not possibly run such a big place on her own; and anyway, how can she be sure this person is any good?  Oh, he has plenty of experience, believe me, replies Cami.  “--It’s Mariano Alberrán from the neighboring ranch, who manages it for his father.”

Double-talking Dio starts backtracking now and then asks Cami if there are any hard feelings from the earlier misunderstanding.  Well, of course not, she says.  The fact of the matter is that as soon as things blew up with Alonso, her first thought was of Mariano since he’s been running things there and knows all about this sort of business; besides Dio’s background is in something else, isn’t it?  (Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding!!!  REEE-JECTED!!!!)  Dio’s nasty frown momentarily darkens his face.  He struggles to hide the agitation he feels at being crossed and shot down by anybody, especially a freakin’ female.  However, he successfully humbles himself in front of Cami and waits to fight another day and in another way.  Cam heads off to her office.

Gussie apologizes for her daughter’s refusal to accept him and says she had no idea she’d already found somebody else.   He says he’s just as sorry and forces back the gag reflex at her fish-lipped pucker when pecking her good-bye.

Cami enters her office, tells Nat to find a couple of things there for her, and immediately calls over to La Buenaventura.  Mariano answers.  Cam tells him she’s reconsidered and does want him to be the new ranch manager.  They agree to meet the next day before noon to go over the details of the job since they’d already agreed to meet about the Stockman’s Association tribute to her Tío.  Nat’s worried she no longer has a job, but Cami says now she’ll be Don Mariano’s secretary instead and sends her off to find the payroll [nómina] list so the ranch hands can get paid [rayar=to do payroll, to pay wages to].

Meanwhile, Alonso has paid a visit to his favorite shady sales rep to arrange for a bunch of backdated invoices [facturas] for a farm tractor and various and sundry other farm-related items.  Not-So-Slim-Shady says ok, but you’d better be good for the cash and not forget my cut of the take!

Back near the stables at the M.Q., Cami hands out the pay envelopes and has to tell the ranch hands that Alonso is no longer owner or boss of this ranch.  They’ll be dealing with her from now on.  D’Andres comes last.  She can’t hide a special smile for him.  On the other hand, Leoncio leers over, disgusted at the two of them, and slouches back to his lair.

Over at los Albarrán, Mariano is beside himself at his good luck.  He’s going to have a real chance now, he explains excitedly to Yago, at getting to know Camila and seeing if there’s a chance for a big-time romance with her.  In walks Pablo.  Yago says he and Pablo can take the opportunity to select the bulls for the review that will be on display.  Pablo says nothin’-doin’ cuz he’s never setting foot on that rancho again!  (A sigh goes up all over Viewerville for El Pobre de Pablito.)

D’Andres gets his pay envelope and once Nat’s gone, hands Cami a note from Vivi telling her to get dolled up for a night on the town.   He wonders if she’ll need him to drive.  Yes, she tells D’Andres, she’ll need him to drive her over since she doesn’t feel comfortable driving at night.  He starts in with the leading, romantic double-entendres, telling her he’s there for her day or night…..She pretends to ignore him.  He starts flirting and asks if she liked the rose he left her; she lies and says she threw it into the trash.  Knowing she’s lying, he pulls out another type of flower from under his jacket and shows this to her.  “—Okay then I’ll leave you a flower you do like, like this one.”  She pretends to be angry with him, but can’t really carry it off.  She walks away as he starts pulling at the petals, saying “she loves me, she loves me not.”  Cami turns around and smiles, then walks off before she forgets her place since he’s already forgotten his—not that either of them really cares.)

That night, D’Andres helps Cami out of the car.  Their hands are in another sensual clasp and each looks momentarily into the other’s eyes.  Dan drops his grasp and speaks a bit haltingly.  “—Pardon me…but with all due respect, you do…look very lovely tonight.”  She smiles wanly and turns on her heel, heads to the gate to ring the bell.  She takes a moment and looks beguilingly over at him.  He respectfully lowers his eyes and looks back at her through his half lowered lids.  Out comes Vivi and the hint of romance in the moment is shattered.  Cami offers D’Andres a wad of bills so he can eat at a nice restaurant somewhere.  (Tacky, awkward move, Cam.)  He says thanks, but it’s not necessary.  Ok.  They let him know they’ll be at a place near the town square [el zócalo].  Once they’re gone, he changes his charro tie and jacket for a hoodie, and now skulks through the shadowy streets.

Inside the party room at the restaurant, Mama Metiche introduces Meana to Rafa.  Just as they take their seats who should show up as uninvitees but Hisssadora and Komodo Dodo.  Gussie is somewhat perturbed, but Meana, from the looks of things, made sure those two got the word and made an entrance.  “—They said it was a surprise party for Camila, right?”  They certainly did, replies Meana with a not-so-innocent roll of the eye.  Rafa doesn’t flinch an inch.  He rolls to the side of these two steamrolling gate-crashers and remains the affable and unflappable host.  Loathsome Lon plops himself down with an obnoxious smirk into the chair next to his slutty SIL.  “--After all we are the husband and the mother-in-law.”   Gussie mentions their being there will probably make Cami uncomfortable.  Hisssadora offers to leave (counting on the fact that none there would be rude or bold enough to insist) but Rafa won’t hear of it and takes their drink orders.  A couple minutes later in walk Viv and Cam.  Cam looks around the table at all the seated guests and asks what’s up.  Viv just smiles sheepishly.

At the same time, Hench (sans the trench) short-circuits the electrical wiring in Isssadora’s living room and starts an electrical fire.

At the restaurant, Rafa explains this dinner is to thank her for her support during the writing of his book.  Gussie gushes about how nice it was that Vivi came by and invited ALL the guests to this lovely dinner party.  Hisssa fakes a toothy wide-mouth grin and says that yes, they all there love her and support her despite any past differences or misunderstandings they’ve had.  Cami nods yes I’m sure and makes a mental note to take a large grain of salt with every word uttered from dear MamaDora’s maw when swallowing the old broad’s brand o’ swill.  Rafa now suggests that everybody pose for a group picture that he could publish in his book.  Viv says she forgot her camera and needs to go to the car for it, but just then the waiter comes up and says they have included a photographer who could take a picture of the three of them.   Aaron casually enters the room, unnoticed, wearing a ball cap and wire-rims.

As the guests leave to go into the other room send for the photographer, Daniel sneaks in and spies on the group through a vented wall/pantry (?).  The others line up in front of that wall and just as the lady photographer snaps the camera Aaron sneaks in just behind them and full center so that his face will be included in the picture.

The group of guests breaks off and walks away.  Vivi mentions to Cami that no way did she invite Hisssadora or her spawn.    Doesn’t surprise Cam that the two of them crashed her party.  They take pictures of the three of them and while Rafa gets copies made, Cami pulls Viv to the side and thanks her for the nice gesture.  She also lets Viv know that she feels Viv’s pain over the loss of her child.    She can always count on Cami’s moral and emotional support.  They share a sisterly hug.   Viv then tells Cami that it makes her glad to know that Cami has discovered her cousin isn’t the brut he was initially believed to be.

Rafa enters the male lounge and checks in with Aaron.  He calls Dan on his cell to see if Hench is anywhere around.  Dan says for some odd reason the guy hasn’t shown up tonight.   He tells them he’ll head over to the B&B to see if he’s there with Amanda and Nat.  Aaron gets the all clear and tells them he can come out.

The group makes small talk about when Viv met Rafa--three months earlier when he needed a photographer for the book—and how she’d been living there about a year at the time, and then that Rafa met Camila through her.   The three of them are great friends and consider Cami a jewel, says Vivi, and she’s sure all the world will make tracks lovely Hacienda La Malquerida once the book’s published.   Meana brings up Dio as the place’s new ranch manager.   Hisssadora’s head comes up and her rattles start vibrating as Al asks what Ximeana means by Mama’s boyfriend becoming the new ranch manager?  Dio refuses to look Al in the eye.

Across town at Isssa’s place, Hench stays just long enough to admire his handiwork and make sure the blaze isn’t in danger of going out.  He texts Dio on his cell as he leaves.

At the restaurant, Al pulls a mini-hissy fit and complains about Dionisio’s high-handed and audacious attitude.  Dio explains that it was only an offer to assist now that he’s to be a part of the family.  Hisssa throws her napkin and says the two of them should have been advised and that they’re leaving.  As Mamadora and K-Dodo angrily push away from their chairs, Dio asks them to sit back down and let him finish.  His offer was refused because Cami had already hired somebody else.  K-Dodo turns around to Cam and spits out a “and whom might that be????”  Dio names Mariano Albarrán and Cami confirms it.  This is a hell of a pisser for said family of hisssers.  They are miffed over having been duly stiffed and their pride so suitably biffed.   They slither out of the restaurant in a hell of a huff and Katie bar the door!     Dio gets his text and excuses himself.

Dan shows up at the B&B and enters the kitchen meanwhile.  Amanda tells him Hench has been gone the whole day and nobody has any idea where to.  She hands him over the copies of the passport’s pages she made.  He notes that Hench entered and exited Chile a couple of days after he was notified of his new inheritance, which proves that he was in the country during the incident and attempt on his life which ended up killing Miriam.  One day later they received his supposed “death notice.”  Amanda and Nat tell him to keep that paperwork safe and to hand it over as proof when he goes to the police to make his complaint.  Nat also mentions that Alonso is caput as manager and that Cami is bringing in Mariano Albarrán for the job.  In the meantime, she adds, Cami got her to transfer all the files and official paperwork along with his computer into her office, so now he can use his computer skills to track down anything else that could be useful when making his case to the police.  Dan agrees and says there could be external communications and such to prove his innocence to the police.  “—Or to Camila.”

Dio races after Al and Isa.  Alonso immediately accuses Dio of double-dealing, swearing that he really wants Cam, the M.Q. and the whole nine yards, leaving him and Mamadora out of the game.  Dionisio loses it and essentially tells Al to stop thinking with his crotch and instead to use his brain.  The rancho is their priority.  They’re supposed to be on the same team here and he had to do something to keep Camila under control since they were going to be leaving the rancho.  Isssa swears she’d never leave that ranch and had other plans.   She and Dio agree at least that Alonso needed to stick around there at the ranch whatever way he could maneuver it in order to stay aware of Camila’s every move but that now it’s such a mess because he wouldn’t listen to her.   Isssa changes the subject then and asks Dio if he at least took care of what she asked him to.  Dio says of course he did and that Julian just called him to say her house is totally in flames at this point.    Dio warns El Loco de Lon that the peevish little scene he pulled in the restaurant didn’t help matters, either.  All three of their necks are on the line here and so he’d better walk on eggshells from now on or their efforts could be seriously impaired [perjudicar=handicapped, harmed, damaged].

Dan is in the shadows across the street and getting one hell of an earful with all the yelling and kvetching from this non-gleesome threesome.    He sighs and shakes his head in disgust.  “—So that’s why Julian never showed up tonight.”

Dio comes back into the room.  Ximeana fakes a headache and has Cami fetch ”her driver” to take her home.  The pictures are passed out.  Suddenly Cam is in shock.  She looks at the group photo and notes that her cousin, Daniel, is in the picture.  “—That’s impossible!  But he’s here!  Daniel is in the picture and he’s alive and here somewhere!”  They begin checking throughout the restaurant.

On the drive back to the M.Q., Ximeana starts flirting with D’Andres.  “—Wow, but you are handsome!  I’d imagine you to be anything but a chauffeur.”

Back at the restaurant, Dio demands to know from the head waiter where the man in the photo has gone.  Obviously the waiter draws a blank, and then mentions there was a young man with a ball cap and glasses seated at one of the tables, but he left a while ago.  Dio gets on his high-horse and turns to Rafa.   He accuses Rafa of being in the know and playing games with them about DDA, because after all he’s his friend!!  Rafa demands to know why he should know he’s a friend of DDA’s.  “—Errr….b-b-because Agustina told me, that’s how!”  Cara de that’s-news-to-me de Gussie.   Rafa tells Dio that he refuses to be talked to in that manner and  neither will he give him any explanation about DDA or anything else for that matter!   (100 Bonus points to Team Camila!  Great way to stand up to that braggadocious blowfish!)

Xi keeps fishing on the way home for details about D’Andres’s past.  “—Where you from?  You sure don’t sound like you’re from here!”  Dan deflects and asks how her “headache” is.  She pretends she’s still weak and has a pill but no water to take it with.  He hands her a bottle of water and she notices the birthmark on his wrist matches the one on her leg.  Ruh-Roh!!!  (Family tree branch alert!)  She asks if he’s the only one in his family to have one.   He answers that there were no siblings, only his mom and him and his father and mother are both dead now, so he wouldn’t know.  “—Well, I think it’s something pretty sexy.  Don’t you?”  Dan ignores the question.

At the restaurant again, Cami asks Dio to dial it down.  He tells her it’s just too much of a coincidence that DDA appears at the restaurant at a dinner Rafa arranged so that they can make fools of them all.  Vivi says, wait a doggone minute here!  I was the one who chose the restaurant.  Dio accuses her of being a friend of DDA’s also.  Rafa asks why he’s so interested in him anyway.  “--W-w-well I am looking out for Camila and her mother!”   Cami says thanks but no thanks to Dio.  (Viewerville says thanks and thanks again to the telenovela gods for that.)  Gussie has to admit that it really is strange way for the guy to act whether he’s as decent as Rafa says or a felon like the police say.  Look, says Cam, I’m the one who’s in charge here and I say now that we know he’s alive it simply remains for us to find him.  At least we know and it’s resolved.   She turns to Dio.  “--In the meantime, I’m asking you to please stay out of it.  [Mantenerse al margen=don’t get involved]   Don’t do anything without my knowledge.”

Rafa and Vivi smile at each other and share a knowing nod.   Success!
