Las Tontas Thurs 4/16 - Big boys DO cry and guess what, Mari is Loca

Reminders from yesterday: Lalo interrupts Santi and Horty's discussion of CARLOOOO to tell him he need to take him home right away. Alicia and Mariloca get on the plane.

Santi is at home and Marissa calls him. She gleefully and evilly tells him to watch her video. Raul turns on the TV and the wicked witch of the west appears in the crystal ball. Lamentably, Santi will never see his son, Bwahahaha. Bye my love and kisses to candy. Caras impactadas from Raul, Santi, Isabel and Lalo.

Santi says she's not just crazy she's psychotic. Raul swears he's allied with Santi in this but Santi continues to blame Raul for always defending his hermana loca. Santi tries to call Mariloca but no luck.

Meanwhile the brujas make themselves comfortable on the plane and cackle at Santi's photo on Mari's ringing phone. (The closed captions say carcajada = guffaw or loud laughter) Alicia says he is pouting. (Cara de puchero - pouty face) Mari laughs that she's not sure what she'll do but certainly she'll not return home for a while. She giggles that she'll tell Santi the baby died because if she says she put it up for adoption he'll look and look and look for it. They laugh hysterically when she says maybe she'll tell him it died and she put it in a bag and threw it in the garbage. Holy Toledo, did I hear that right? What a couple of lunatics!

Rocio, mouth agape, hides behind John Lennon's picture and eavesdrops while Lalo tells Donato what Mariloca threatened.

Pato comes home to find a big "Welcome!" and balloons waiting for him. Al left a note, she's thrilled he's returned, dinner's in the oven, she loves him and will see him soon. "She's crazy," he mutters, "no no no I can't stay here."

Over at the House of Miracles Chayo tells Candy about Mariloca's insane message. Lalo told her that Mari said Santi will be the victim of the worst humiliation of his life. Candy grabs her purse and rushes out.

Santi and Isa talk some more about how crazy Mari is and what they should do, hire a PI, call the police? Santi is completely spun out at the idea of never seeing his bebe. Rocio listens at the door and becomes increasingly upset. She finally comes in sobbing that it's all her fault because she once told Mari she didn't want a baby brother. Santi tries to comfort the poor little tyke.

Pat calls his dad to tell him he's moving back into his house and there's room for both of them. He decides to eat the dinner and talk to himself, woe is he about Candy. His phone rings and its...Candy! She asks him to look after Chava while she helps Santi out, she fills him in on Mariloca's diabolical activities.

Santi and Paulina AKA mommy dearest try to console Rocio. MD rolls her eyes while Santi kisses his sweet daughter.

Lalo tries to console Santi with a man hug and a cup of tea.

Over at the restaurant Sven pushes Ole toward Lulu and a mild flirtation ensues. Toño asks to be her novio and she rushes off. Zamora comments it's the shortest romance in history.

Santi tells Isa he wants to be alone but she has a surprise, Candy is there. Santi has really lost his bravado and he doesn't know what to do. Candy kindly comforts him. She says all she wants to do is help him find his son. Santi suggests they watch the video together in case any clues reveal themselves. He suspects La Loca might have an accomplice.

Raul shows up at Santi's door. Donato tries to refuse entry but Raul pushes. Isa interrupts and crosses her arms. Raul swears he had no idea what his twisted sis was up to and he's a victim in all this too. Isa agrees to let him enter.

Candy and Santi watch the witch in the crystal ball again and Raul shows up. Raul swears allegiance to Santi and Candy says she belives him. He gives Mari's apartment keys to Santi so he can search for clues. The friends shake hands and make up.

Mommy Dearest assures Rocio that her Papi will find her brother. Somebody silently rolls by in a car and takes pictures of MD hugging Rocio. We only see the back of head so this must be Pau's mystery man stalking her.

Santi and Candy search Mariloca's apartment but find nothing. Santi tries to think like a loca, she wouldn't stay in Guadalajara, but where? They search some more and Candy finds a red paper bag with baby clothes and a note. "Don't look for me cuz you won't find me, if Candy is with you tell her hello and it's all her fault."

Amidst the family's problems Tina has her test results and is crying over them. Isa tells Tina she's lived it and knows what Tina feels. The news is bad but not necessarily a death sentence. As Isa provides words that prepare Tina to win her personal battle Donato looks on with love and affection in his eyes. He gives Tina a thumbs up.

The stalker in a striped tailored shirt continues to take pics of MD and Rocio. Creepy.

Santi calls airlines but can't get information. He's totally frustrated. Candy suggests maybe calling Mari again and leaving a message on her phone. Big hug from Candy which he appreciates mucho.

Pat relaxes on a lime green couch and watches the news. The news team is at the airport and who should stroll in front of the camera but Marissa! (No sign of Alicia, darn.)

Rocio cries to her two novios that Mariloca stole her brother. Beto reminds them that Chava told them she had a bad heart. "The worst of all," cries Rocio. Chava proclaims he'll cry with Rocio. Beto tells him men don't cry. Chava educates Beto that men DO cry, he's not some macho recalcitrant and he'll cry with Rocio. Beto decides to cry with her too and the boys hug their little pal.

Later the kids come in and are greeting by a loving Candy and a surprise visit from Pat. He must speak to Santi ASAP cuz he saw Mariloca at the Guadalajara airport.

Santi goes nuts, if she was at the airport Mariloca could be anywhere! Candy and Pat take him outside to calm down. Santi thanks Pat and it seems like these two really could be friends. Maybe. Someday. Poor Santi stares at the starry sky in paternal anquish as his beautiful eyes pool up with tears.

Santi and Candy go back into the house and Pato is alone once again. He gets tears in his eyes and says to nobody in particular, or maybe God, "I'm sorry, it hurts." I'm beginning to quite like Patricio.

The witches arrive at their hotel in Quito Ecuador and Al thanks the guy in English (with a very good accent I might add). They rate the varietals of South American men with Argentinos deemed to be the most handsome. Al puts her feet up but Mariloca wants to get connected so she can send hate emails to Santi. (Conectame la compu.)

Back in sanity land Candy gives Santi some of her miracle advice blah blah blah feel with your heart and everything will resolve itself that will be five cents please.

Mommy Dearest arrives and Candy kisses Santi and Rocio goodbye under MD's sneer. Rocio giggles to her daddy that he should have given Candy a kiss. MD scowls her disapproval.

Next morning Isa prays to the virgin asking her help to ensure her grandson will be born healthy and that Santi will be able to hold his son in his arms.

Barb has a therapy session with Marta and her jackass of a husband Lucio. Barb tells him that he needs to, ahem, warm up Marta's engine before he can put her into gear so to speak. He gets pissed off at Marta because they are sharing their intimacies with a stranger. He yells and storms out of the office. Barb advises Marta to go to a neutral place and try to talk calmly to Lucio.

At school Rocio and Chayo converse morosely about the difficulties of parents not loving each other and hence not getting to live together as one happy family.

Mommy Dearest eats lunch and the mystery stalker calls her and then hangs up. He's in the same restaurant but she doesn't see him. She calls her friend Yennifer but it sounds like Yennifer hasn't seen hide nor hair of "him". We finally get to see the frontside of the stalker but he's obscured by horizontal slats so we still don't know who he is, but he's close, very close. At least we get a half-assed cell phone toss out of the deal courtesy of Pau.

Marta and Lucio talk. Seems he can't say "I love you" or maybe can't get his soldier to salute or something. She says Candy says the solution is simple, they have to accept professional psychological help from Barb. He manages to squeeze out a half-hearted "Te amo" and Marta seems thrilled.

Paula is at Santi's office showing showing some leg and spreading herself across his desk. She admits she's a bit jealous of Candy because she loves him. He stutters "yo yo yo yo yo" about a million times, blathers on nervously that he and Pau have no future. She says she's got it all but as Serrat said, "without you my bed is wide". (She means Joan Manuel Serrat.) Jaime sings "Sin Ti" a la Serrat and she embraces him "I love you". He tries to pry himself from her tentacles.

He tries to talk her into going back to New York and the life she loves. She's got disquieting news, she intends to launch her collection in Guadalajara. Sure seems to be a lot of Guadalajara promo going on. So far it's the jewelry hub, the plastic surgery hub, the female self-help, modern international airport, and now it will be the center of high fashion.

The miracle workers hold court in the women's room where Chayo tells the ladies it took Lalo two hours deposit his specimen in the cup. Lulu seems to not completely grasp the content of the discussion.

Lalo tells Santi about his experience at the clinic. They talk REALLY fast. Lalo recalls fantasizing about the sexy nurse in garters while sultry brazilian music plays. Ayyy, Lalo's memory screeches to a halt and he jumps up, realizing the sexy Brazilian nurse was Santi in drag; he asks does Santi have brazilian heritage? Lalo is horrified while Santi makes the "come to papa" gestures. Wouldn't it be fun to see these guys acting with each other in a live production?

Sole comes home and is cranky to find Ceci with a pretty young blonde (who bears a striking resemblance to Ceci, could Ceci have a daughter?). Ceci introduces Aracely to Sole. Aracely gives Sole a friendly kiss on the cheek and Sole coolly asks to see Ceci alone. Sole immediately bitches to Ceci about bringing her lesbo friends into her house. The pure house that is inhabited by she who boinked a guy on a one night stand, bore a son by said guy, and would have stolen the guy from her supposed best friend if she'd had an inkling she could have succeeded. Ceci excuses herself and Solier than thou mutters to herself about Candy.

Santi gets home, checks his email and yells "Loca" because Her Nastiness sent him an email. "I've already gotten rid of the brat. You understand what that means, don't you?" He rants that he doesn't believe she aborted but she could mean anything, given it away, put it up for adoption, nobody knows for sure. He swears that if she's done anything to his child..."Hijole! For the love of God that Marisa is loca!!"

Tomorrow: Santi emails Mariloca and swears he's going to find her.

Doña Bárbara - Wed., Apr. 15: Santos & Marisela are happy for now; Antonio & Cecilia say they'll be happy later;Geno & Pajarote are not happy

[Sorry I didn't have time for any pictures. I might be able to do some later. ]

The lovers:
Marisela tells Santos that even though it might be wrong. She wants to be his forever. We have more gritty beach sex.

The searchers:
Chasing after Santos in their plane, DB says that Melquíades looks nervous. He says that he was born to be in the woods (monte) not to fly like a bird.

Gonzalo runs around the hotel looking for Santos and Marisela.

Melesio tries to talk some sense into Don Encarnación.

Antonio exhibits some uncle-like rage at Pajarote and Genoveva.

Melesio asks DE if what he really wants is to take Lucía's baby away from Antonio and have her raised alone by an old man.

DB gives a cab driver a bunch of money to find the hotel where the Governors are staying.

Marisela and Santos say that their love will just grow and grow.

Gonzalo finds out that Santos rented a boat. The boat guy says that he doesn't think they will be back soon because a storm is coming.

DB has to have Melquíades threaten the cab driver at knife point to take them to the hotel where the Governors are staying.

Santos and Marisela take shelter from the storm in a little hut. Marisela tells Santos that she tried to get him out of her heart but she couldn't. She says that she loves him more than ever.

Pajarote tells Antonio that he shouldn't have gotten involved with Genoveva but he will do the right thing and marry her. He says that if it were any other woman, he would run away but since it is Antonio's niece and Melesio's granddaughter and she is a decent girl, then of course he will marry her.

DB finds Gonzalo. He tells her than Santos and Marisela went out in a boat and haven't returned. DB wants to start a big official search for the missing lovers. Gonzalo doesn't want a start a scandal by looking for his fiancée who has gone off with another guy. DB says that if won't do it, she will.

Antonio brings Pajorote to see Melesio. Antonio says that Pajarote wants to marry Genoveva. Melesio laughs and says that life is full of surprises. "You got her pregnant and everything!" and then he hits Pajarote. Antonio looks like he is trying not to laugh.

In the hotel, Geno hears the alcaraván singing again and confesses to Cecilia that it is singing for her and that Pajarote is the father.

Pajarote tells Melesio that he just found out that Geno is pregnant and came to San Fernando to see her. He says that their temperaments are very different and they fight all the time but he is willing to do the right thing to restore Geno's honor ('taparle la mancha', literally, 'cover up her stain'). Melesio asks if Pajarote loves Geno. Antonio says that Pajarote is willing to do the right thing by Geno and that's the same thing. Melesio say that it isn't the same thing. "One is to swear allegiance to the flag and go to war out of obligation. The other is to swear undying love to a woman. You do one thing for fear but also for obligation. The other you do happily and it makes you content. Where are you going, Pajarote? To war or to happiness?"

The boat guy says that because of the storm no search can be made for Santos and Marisela. DB tells Melquíades that she can't let Santos and Marisela spend the night together.

Santos and Marisela are by a fire in their cozy little hut. Marisela almost tells Santos that DB lost her baby but she doesn't and we know that is going to bring them more problems.

DB has calmed down. She tells Gonzalo that her tantrums haven't gotten her anywhere. She says that they have to outsmart their anger. She tells Gonzalo that she will give Marisela to Gonzalo on a silver platter for the third time but he'd better not lose her again. She also warns him against trying to harm Santos.

Melesio comes to see Genoveva. He says that he has known she was pregnant since the alcaraván started singing but was waiting for her to confirm it. He tells her that Pajarote is willing to do the right thing and clean the stain on her honor. Geno is outraged that Pajarote is talking about a stain (mancha) as if he were a bar of soap. She says that she will kill him.

Gonzalo says that he will win in the end. He calls Sapo and says that he has changed his mind. He wants Santos killed but cleanly and in a way that doesn't involve him.

Melquíades is impressed by the ocean. He calls it a 'plain of water' ('llanura de agua'). DB tells him to go to bed. Pressed against the rainy window, DB says that Marisela and Santos are together alone and nothing is preventing their love.

Marisela says that she loves their pirate adventure but the most important thing is their love.

Antonio, Genoveva, Cecilia, Melesio and Pajarote have an intervention about Geno's pregnancy. Pajarote says that he made the child so he will take responsibility. It bothered him that Geno didn't tell him about the baby herself but he is sure that she was ashamed. He says that he might have thought she was setting a trap for him but he knows she isn't like that so he forgives her.

Geno is furious. She says that there is nothing to forgive. The only thing she did was fall in love with him and spread her legs like one of his sluts. But that is over. He neither cares for her or respects her and in that case she will continue with her child and her life alone. She asks for Cecilia's approbation. Geno says that she will not marry Pajarote. "Do you hear me?" she asks Pajarotre, "You can go and clean the stains from Federica, the Mondragon slut or from your grandmother. I will not marry you even at gunpoint!"

Pajarote protests that he came to San Fernando willling to do right by Geno and her baby. Unfortunately, he adds that he is giving up his freedom, too. Geno asks those present if they have ever heard a more disgusting propsal. She says that she isn't willing to marry him and watch him go out cheating. She says that he will have a perfect excuse to cheat on her since he is being forced to marry. She repeats that she won't marry Pajarote and her relatives had better get used to seeing her single and with a baby. She will be alone but she will be happy. She leaves.

Antonio unwisely asks Cecilia to try and convince Geno that it isn't good for a woman to raise a child... "Alone?" Cecilia asks as Antonio realizes his boo boo. She tells him that she won't give Geno any such advice. She is raising her child alone because the father married someone else when they could have been happy together. She tells Pajarote that in case he didn't know it, she will make it clear that he isn't the last man on earth (''no eres la última limonada en el desierto," literally, "you aren't the last lemonade in the desert"). She leaves. Melesio says that he hadn't realized it before but Cecilia and Geno are right. It's better to be alone than to be with a pair of imbeciles like Antonio and Pajarote.

Marisela tells Santos that she wished they could stay in this hut forever. Santos says that he knows what she means but they have to go back to their lives.

Andrés and Néstor recap all the strange things that have happened in Progresso (including the kidnapping of the 12-year old). They think the bad things are related to an effort to destroy the Cattlemens' Association and Santos' work.

Antonio comes to apologize to Cecilia. He says that the can't be happy if she hates him. He offers to make it up to her with a kiss.

Gonzalo and DB find out that Santos and Marisela have returned. Gonzalo demands an explanation from Santos. Santos says that Gonzalo will not end up with Marisela and that he doesn't owe Gonzalo any explanations for what he did.

Cecilia tells Antonio that it isn't their time yet. He says that he has always loved her and she says that she loves him so much that she would wait forever for him. They say that have to wait until his daughter gets out of the hospital and DE calms down.

DB asks Marisela 20 questions about what she and Santos did together during the night. Marisela is evasive. Then DB manages to produce a tear and says that Santos isn't interested in her anymore. If he leaves her, she will kill herself. [And you know that Marisela is going to buy this twaddle.]

Tontas no van Wed Apr. 15 - A bucket for your, er, thoughts, and some ice all around

We open with Pau trying to get nookie from Santi. No go.

Pau gets dressed. She notes this is the first time he’s rejected her and well he's really in love with Candy. She could always get him to give in. He says yes, because she's beautiful and she’s the mother of his daughter etc. He calls her flirty when she keeps trying, and eventually pushes her out.

He thinks he needs to tell a buddy about this advance maybe that he was able to reject it; not Lalo though, I guess that’s not such a good topic for him, so he settles on Carlos.

At breakfast, the crew at Meno’s house discusses the day’s plans and picking up Chava. Meno is helping himself to THREE spoons of sugar in his coffee, and he’s eating a sweet coffee cake kind of thing. Greg slaps his hand and tells him to leave it. His response is that he is not her husband. She says he’s getting fat, and has to watch sugars and fats. He continues he‘s not fat, he’s only retaining water and stop playing wife in his house. She says she’s just a woman who cares for her in-law. He is surprised she cares about him after all her rejection and she says well now she’s lying again as she did for two minutes but not now. Candy tells him he needs a check up and that she leaves him to her Mom’s care. He grabs the cake anyway after they all leave and proclaims it doesn't raise his triglycerides.

Carlos is begging again for Horty to go out with him. When she rejects him he smacks a big one on her and tells her if she changes her mind to look him up. She gets into it…and is impactada as he walks away. The boys Santi and Lalo watch from behind amazed at what they saw. When they try to get Horty’s attention, she replies that his appointments are in the agenda but she can’t work today…and walks out just like that.

Santi I think is shocked because she never leaves. The boys hug and reflect how beautiful is love…er no futbol, time to watch football they chant as they separate.

Marta is on the phone to Candi that she can’t talk to her hubby about something, so Candi tells her to bring him in and they’ll work it out together. Just then Horty shows up still dazed. Candi is about to tell her to bug off if she’s got something on behalf of her boss but Hort stops her short that she needs her and came for herself.

Meno and Greg are at the docs. I’m trying to figure out what the heck is behind them, either a huge blow up of blood platelets, a lung cat scan or some really funky Italian marble. Modern art? Med folks any help? Meno yells at Greg for forcing him into this and she says she can leave but he says no stay because he’s getting some flushed cheeks (Bochornos) and he’s not going through menopause or something like that.
Horty confesses to Candi that she’s not been with a man in so long and isn‘t sure what to do. She thinks she’s big. her body is awful, and he’s too young for her and a whole host of things. Candi thinks she can fix this and that there is nothing wrong with Horty that it’s all just fear of commitment.

Lalo and Santi have a talk about Lalo’s upcoming “Spermogram“ what a great word. I love it. Santi tells Lalo it’s nothing and he will get a little bottle that he just needs to fill y ya. Plus they have mags and videos to help you. Lalo guesses the jar will be small but Santi educates him it’s bigger and he just should think of it as the size of a soup plate. I swear the actor Lalo is trying not to crack up at the idea of Spermogram. He seems to covers his mouth to hide this. I think Camil actually does. This looks like a face trying to quell a laugh if there ever was one.

After the girls go through a round table of what they each are scared of, boring, I’m not going through that, they welcome Horty to the institute and manage to persuade Horty that she should call Carlos.

The boys Lalo and Santi are washing up for surgery while doing line dances and chatting about their women problems.

Horty calls Carlos and will make him dinner. Her fan club cheers and takes her shopping. I’ll bet the guys loved this scene where she is trying to select some lingerie that goes from clown boy shorts to thong. They then move on to a dress, and the first one is kind of sixtiesish and they aren’t so fond of it. When she dances away, her microphone on her leg shows. She does a pole dance when she finds the right dress. I guess I have to put this in for Carlos...

Horty appreciates all this, she’ll even tell Candi gossip about her jefe, but Candi says not right to gossip so that‘s ok. Horty thanks her and tells her Jefe has never hit the sex bell with her because he really cares for her, she‘s the most important and hopefully they can figure out their stuff, because, say it with me, Tontas no van al cielo. Ha ha!

Ali and Mari spar about getting ready to go to the airport and how he will die when he learns he’ll never see his kid again.

Carlos is now at Horty’s who really looks super HOT!!!!! He tells her as much and she wants to know if he’ll kiss her. He throws the chair out of the way and jumps her live a ravenous beast.

Santi shows up at Pau’s, and she was only expecting a club sandwich.

Santi wants her to go back to NY and she wants to stay with them so gave up everything. She paid a high price for her money and prestige, she lost both of them. She says he’s not that great he had his “Ranking” of priorities, and he didn’t give up his friends etc. She continues that he did something to her when she came back last time and says Santi, SANTI, kiss me! He falls off the bed and moans in distress.

Horty now tells Carlos to get out. Apparently she’s not ready. He promises to help her be ready, but that doesn’t work and he says if he goes then he’s gone, she says so you are gone. Goodbye, and they both resign to taking cold showers.
Santi turns off Pau’s spout too. He’s appalled that the “Mom of my kid“ would be willing to see him in secret and now be his lover….e leaves. She then makes a call to “Jennifer” to see if Jorge tried to call her. Apparently, she won’t go back to NY because she doesn’t want this guy to find her. Aha……

Chayo bugs Lalo to make sure he will go for his sperm count, and offers to go with, but he doesn’t want that so she primes him, almost too much and so she puts the brakes on him and says to think of her while filling his little bottle. He says little bottle, ha, barrel!

Tina and Issy talk about cancer and that they should talk about it. Otro PSA. She says many cancers are curable if detected early so it's not an automatic death sentence. Try telling that to my cat. Issy will go with Tina to her appointment. Santi comes down and Issy notes he’s in the same clothes he wore yesterday. She takes him outside to chat.

She doesn’t want to butt in, but thinks he stayed with Pau. He says just because he’s in the same clothes his meat doesn’t smell, that or he doesn‘t smell like meat. He went to Chapala, in the middle of the night? Yeah, he had to think, and the flies (mosquitos?) kill by the way. This scene made little sense.

This was hysterical. Lalo enters the fertility clinic to make his deposit and doesn’t want anyone to know his purpose. He wants a bag to cover his "sample". Of course there are beautiful women all over and the nurse reminds him everyone is there for the same thing. He sits in the private room rocking out to Iron maiden or such thing and can’t “make it” so calls Chayo. She tells him to use his imagination. Ruh roh. He imagines a bevy of women in sexy nurse outfits, that no one wears anymore, and then suddenly Lulu is there and he snaps out of it. Another make out session with Barb and then some hairy legs. It’s Santi in drag with a bucket for the sample!!!

Candi has spent too much time looking at the flowers says Chayo. The card from Santi says he’s free. In English. Chayo astutely notes that if he is in English, he’s free in Spanish too. Candi agrees she loves him but worries that things won’t work out with him either.

Turns out he plants a tree for Candi and after checking his appts for the day takes his Mom to see it in the yard.

Meanwhile in the underworld, Mariloca Maternity Bruja from Hell is wrapping herself with bandages, I think to make her belly look smaller. She says something about wanting to look like she’s only seven months and something about peoples mouths dropping maybe. She asks Ali for help, but Ali gives up when she learns the wrap has to go under the dress and remarks she's not Mari's servant. Mari confirms her bro will come over later and the gals sit down and begin to make a video.
Issy shows Candy her tree and tells her she wants her son to be happy and blah blah.

Lalo gives up the goods asking for another jar. The nurse says it took him 2 hours for this one! He slinks away.

Issy tells Candi all the trees names, so Santi considers her part of the family and she should know but don’t tell him she does. He’s happy only with her. She says she too, but she just got rid of Pat, and has to deal with her son etc. Issy understands.

Raul arrives…. He finds the note and video camera.

Santi is chatting with Horty and lays some John Lennon on her, that life is what happens when we are making plans. He tells her she’s putting her life to one side. He pushes for his buddy… that Carlos likes her and is a good guy and it‘s normal to be afraid, and she should tell him all this.
Just then Lalo shows up visibly disturbed to collect Santi for Raul. Since he was snuggle facing with Horty he is startled and throws around the flowers. Lalo tells him everyone is waiting at his house for something very serious.

Mari and Ali get on the plane. I love how Ali throws her purse up into the bin.

They get to the house and Mari is on the phone telling him bye bye and to watch the video.

They do and in it she tells him here is his last look at his son. You’ll never see her again, or your kid…ouch.

MEPS Wed. 4/15 - A Very, Very Taxing Day

We come to the scene, Ciro is mortally wounded, Fernanda is mortally wounded in the heart, Damian is mad, mad, mad that Fernanda is off chasing Eduardo and hopes that after this meeting she will give up on this low life. The crypt says it all. Eduardo muses that it was all part of the plan to appear to be dead.

Padre, where is HE? Please accompany me, daughter. Anibal tells Priscila, he has a big meeting. but she promises to save (ahorrar) the details for later, here you need to see this, as she hands him the envelope. Anibal gives what must be his favorite and truest line: I don't understand... what is this about? Pris beams, It's a very, very, very early pregnancy test. we are having a baby! Anibal responds, I never knew what happened that evening. The red head warmed you up at the mansion of the madam, but I swooped in to have the true (verdedero) sex. You took a cocktail of sexy aphrodisiac potions and it worked. Even this blessing of fatherhood isn't enough to bring a smile to Anibal's lips, he is all confused (aturdido) Do you know what having a child means to our relationship at this time? Oh yes, but it doesn't matter.

Padre and Fernanda face the crypt wall, The ashes of Eduardo are here. Of Eduardo? He died? Eduardo Juarez Cruz is carved on the crypt marble under Soledad Cruz de Juarez. Fernanda is hysterical and grief stricken, sobbing on the floor and clinging to the priest.

Pris asks, when will we tell your Papa that his first grandchild is on the way? Damian bursting in on this tender moment asks innocently enough, Something going on? Yes, Pris says we have great news. Anibal says Pris is pregnant in monotone. Damian is all happy and offers to rush to tell the family. Pris says wait I want to be the one to spring the surprise. The cuñado's go off to their important meeting. Pris muses with a belly rub but doesn't try to pat her head, Finally a niño.

Damian wants to know what's going on his friend is in his office. He enters to see Vlad. I why are you hiding in my office. I want to talk about your sister-in-law, I didn't want to risk her seeing me. Do you have something to do with Priscila? Wait here, don't move, I have to go to the conference room.

Meanwhile at the manicomio, Nurse comes in to say Ciro is calling for Liliana as Martina looks deceptively gentle brushing Liliana's hair.

The happy family meet in the conference room apparently to hear Damian whine about his honeymoon delays. Barbara leaves in disgust or boredom. Fernanda went off to clarify things with Eduardo and it is her priority that we must respect says Dad. Anibal wants to get the meeting with Franco.

Eduardo was completely undermined (minado) with sadness. But when did he come what did he want . It was an automobile accident. An accident without explanation. Do you think his death was provoked? Eduardo took his own life? No padre no. -Break-

The last time I saw Eduardo he insisted vehemently that he be buried near his mother in the Parish (Parroquia) of San Rafael. In a flash back of both Eduardo and the Padre Eduardo was unhappy that she married someone else. He tells him that he needs to find out what the hyena did . The only wish he expressed to put Eduardo at his death in a sepulchre with his mother.

In the Padre's office, Fernanda takes tea and composes herself. Her cell rings, It is Damian, she looks, it rings, On the other end, Barbinator grabs the cell phone out of Damian's ear and since it is springtime she throws out the first pitch.

Now Fernanda says even though I am married, I don't understand what happened to Eduardo. I don't have details, it will remain a mystery. She doesn't know how the ashes can be Eduardo next to Soledad.

Cold, cold Barbarity says let her know you have had enough, she counsels Damian, you need to stop her from meeting with the ill born Eduardo.

Damian asks about the problem with the bad milk which seems to be slow in emerging. However, Barb says tomorrow you will leave on that honeymoon. Soon you and I will be going away from this place. She teases him with phone which is still on the counter where she tossed it. (You know they are playing with all of us).

Lili approaches the encased Ciro's bed and tries to get him to answer her. Are you okay. Dr. Demento surges in with his brutish flunkies and demands that Lili get out. She begs to talk with Ciro.. Doctorcito says after he has healed perhaps, but not now, get her out of here. Ciro begs to have a moment alone and Martina has to pull her knife which puts off the big boys and she insists they get out or she will turn Doc into a colander (coladero) Which without bullets will be harder to do. Martina looks up to the job as she gets Doc into a hammer hold with knife against neck.

Martilna's Pfa pa Gepetto, is belly aching about his shameful daughter. His friend says, why don't you talk to her . Then he remembers the meeting with Barboss who came looking for Martina and him told him she is no nurse. Don't do yourself more harm, reasons the friend. but stubborn and ungrateful old Gepetto fiercely says, For me Martina is dead.

Finally the doc sees the good choice in getting the boys out, She gets doctorcito into the bathroom assuring Ciro and Lili they can now talk in privacy. Ciro asks, Who is this strange young woman? My friend. She is valiant and tell her thanks. He is really sick and Lili can't help him. (notice the manicure has lasted so well) Break.

It wasn't necessary to talk to Ed to know the wounds in his heart. and in his exile he knew of all the humiliations that Soledad suffered and then worst of all was her death. Fernanda starts to understand, the abandonment and the separation my father imposed, you finally begin to understand Eduardo had to survive. I just thought Eduardo had forgotten me. Padre assures her he always thought of his land, his people. The cruel reality that none of his wishes and none of his dreams were possible. Fernanda asks, In his moment of death, do you think he hated me. The only thing he harbored (albergo) in his heart for you was love. Eduardo loved me Padre? Father can I confess? .

Damian works on the reservations for a first class departure tomorrow on the earliest flight out, and of course first class. . Vladimir appears, what gives? Are you in a hurry? Back to the phone, This is for, Señora Fernanda and Damian Gallardo . Charge this to Grupo Lactos . No there wont' be any further changes, we are leaving for sure on this date.

In the confessional, Fernanda tells the Padre, I blame myself for the death of Eduardo.

Did you hurt yourself to save me, Lili pleads with Ciro. I was waiting to explain what will be our last game. The white pawn, remember? Eduardo, Yes, he has changed in to the white king I have the letter from your Nana but this is not sufficient proof and the white queen is in danger and only the king can save her. You have to talk to him. Liliana the crows are near and my sons are all idiots and everyone is scrutinizing me (escrutan) we must still hide things. You have to say to the good man that the white king has to lose its head. Lili looks frantic.

Vladi looks nervous. What is important to you about Pris Elizalde. I can not say anything bad about her. What Priscilla and I . Priscilla and you what? You know her? Yes, you introduced us at the wedding . And you were friends. Something more than amigos. What, sputters, Damian. Vladi avers, I am in love with Priscilla.

Pris tells her brother that she is preggers, he calls papa delighted with his sister's news.

Vlad had a revelation and I could never have imagined that this could happen, she is the most marvelous woman in the world. You can't tell me. She is the girl of my dreams, more than a dream, she exists. And you need to help me get her. She is so unhappy (desdichada). And she has to get away from this simpleton (papinatas). Damian drinks a lot of water. -Break-

Remember Lili our secret, no one can know it. The crows are lying in wait (al acecho). The crows have ears and the coffer that your Nana Soledad left you was to get it to a good man. You are safe and you are to save your family from this terrible vengeance. you liberty will by my consolation. It is my hour to leave, finishes Ciro finally relieved. Don't abandon me. The soul of what I have learned as the old magician of the white king is that death is no more than the start of a new adventure. Ciro slips away the machine goes flat line and Lili cries disconsolately. -Break-

I have felt profound hatred for Ed at times, but I have not felt like he should die. But now my heart is breaking . Now I know that Eduardo being sent away to study was my fault. But I was little and t still don't understand that the day of my wedding he sent (the flowers and message). I feel more pain than ever in my live and I am never going to be able to see him again. She sobs and Padre ends the box session, coming out to console her. Am I horrible for what I am feeling? . I think it is the most beautiful feeling that you have had in your life. Is it love. This is love, Padre?

Damian says in your apartment.? Why did you think to take her there? Where else could we go? And everything happened? Damian innocently probes. And you are surprised that Pris cut relations off without any explanation? I thinks she loves me and doesn't know how to get out of her marriage. Damian replies, with all respect you are truly stupid. But people divorce every day says Vlad the innocent. And She is a millionaire and live on my salary. But you have lost her. Priscilla is not going to separate from her husband. Mr innocent jumps to, You like her/ Are you jealous? No but she is not going to be leaving any time soon. For one reason, she is pregnant, now does that seem like a sufficient motive?

Ciro has an aria then a white aura and Lili curls up to hug him. a requiem of her own. Ciro is at peace at last.

Back at the church, Padre advises, Only love can generate this much pain. If Eduardo had looked for you he would have to confront the reality, that in your lives everything was diametrically opposed. .Eduardo is not here and you are a married woman. Is what I feel for Eduardo a sin? The only sin is to betray the sacraments of your marriage and you must love and respect him for all your life.

Next. Eduardo has to confront the real pain of Fernanda. Fernanda has to tell the family that Eduardo is dead. Barbara has to bite her cheeks to keep from grinning ear to ear.

MEPS, April 14th - Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Gardenia's a Pain, But She's Got A Nice Bust

Capitulo 41

From last night: Dr. Matamentes gives Martina her nurses’ uniform so she can look like a real staff member. Freduardo explains to Jacinto that Martina is caring for Lili. Jacinto tells Freddie that Fernanda is looking for him and he feels pressured. Freduardo says he’s going to give Nanda news of “himself” tomorrow.

Ciro’s wife and son come to visit, and the Doc and Adolfina leave them alone with Ciro, against Adolfina’s better judgment. Mommy and Sonny Boy lock the door and try to get Ciro to sign a will. Mommy has also brought an ink pad to take Ciro’s fingerprints and put them on the will. I guess you need fingerprints to make a will valid in Mexico. Sonny Boy compliments her resourcefulness.

Camilo’s reading a horsey magazine and sees a picture of Errorika’s Daddy that says Don Agustin is Saleroso’s new owner. Cadmilo calls Errorika and says she had her father give Franco the horse just to go out with her. She tells him he’s a pig (which he is) and says Franco made her father a great offer for the horse, and she hangs up on him. Just then, Cad’s doorbell rings, and wouldn’t ya know, it’s Natasha with a strappy minidress on, and a very lovely and elegant neck brace. (Love the way her long, dangly earring twinkle alongside the neck brace!). Natasha stomps into the apartment looking pissed. He asks how she is and she’s mad because he sent her to the hospital after she fell of the horse with a chauffeur. He sweet talks her and she crumbles like a house of cards. They start makin’ out like 16 year olds.

Wow – it’s dinner time once again at the Elizalde home – these people put the “fun” back in dis”fun”ctional. (I always get the dinner table recaps!) But, apparently dinner is over and Tomasa has just served desert. Dryly, Barb asks what it is, and Tomasa announces that it’s Pastel de Elote (Cornbread) that Senorita Aurora has prepared. Aurora says it’s a very simple dish and she hopes they like it. AnyBalls wants to talk about Nanda’s upcoming meeting with Franco Santoro, but Daddy Gonzo says no business talk at the table. Barb comments that Nanda must’ve had a hard day, having gone to see Lili and all. Dad asks if Lili knows anything about Eduardo and Nanda says no. AnyBalls says they should hire a private detective to find Eduardo but Damian puts the kibosh on that real quick. Santiago says they should discuss more agreeable topics, like why did their stepmother give Soledad’s house away to the chauffeur? (Ten points to Santiago!) Nanda and Daddy Gonzo are shocked and Nanda asks why she did that. Barb chokes up some fake tears and says she loves Nanda and that she’s just trying to protect her from Eduardo. Barb pushes her plate away and goes to leave, but stops and gives them a giant guilt trip, saying you all go ahead and eat, she feels bad. But as soon as she’s out of the dining room she shoots a look that could kill.

Our gorgeous Francuardo is sitting by the fire looking – yeah, well, gorgeous. He’s thinking about how tomorrow Fernanda will be damned by the memory of Eduard Juarez.

Damian and Nanda are in her bedroom again and he tries to kiss her but she pushes him away again, and says she wants their first night together to be unforgettable. She asks for one more day. (I think it’ll be a lot longer than that.) Damian leaves.

Morning comes and Aurora is loitering in the foyer area of the house ready to leave with her little duffle bag, when Camilo shows up wearing the most stupid jacket I’ve ever seen a grown man wear. She says she’s just waiting for Santiago to say goodbye to Fernanda and then they’re leaving. He moves uncomfortably closer to her and asks if she’ll be back. He gives her a kiss on the cheek. He makes up a lie about Santiago thinking everything is a big joke, including women, that’s just the way artists are, but he’ll be there to console her when she gets back. He blows her a kiss and leaves. Incredibly, she actually looks like she’s doubting Santiago’s sincerity after hearing Cad’s bullshit.

Santiago and Nanda are saying goodbye, and he says he hopes that she finds Eduardo. He says he knows she’s still in love with him and that she should fight for that love. He leaves and she takes the paper Eduardo wrote his name on out of her purse and thinks perhaps Santiago is right – she kisses the paper like a 7 year old girl.

Frankie is up and about at Las Animas, still plotting.

Dr. Matamentes comes in to check on Lili and Martina starts yelling at him because the shot that he gave Lili the night before hasn’t worn off yet. He says everyone’s metabolism is different, but what would she know about such things and he leaves.

Freddie’s on his way out the door but Gardenia tries to stop him for breakfast, He tells her he’s in a hurry and that he’s not going to be around much, so why doesn’t she take a couple of days off. She tries to put up a fight, and because he’s in a rush he tells her just to stay and they’ll talk about it later. He leaves and she giggles. Looks like she’s got the hots for Senor Santorito! Wait till she finds out who he really is! BTW, a new “Manana Es Para Siempre” song played during this scene, anybody else notice? Must the “Gardenia’s In Love” theme.

Damian and Nanda are having breakfast alone talking about their honeymoon. Tomasa walks in with a telegram for Nanda. She opens it to find nothing more than a phone number and Eduardo Juarez’ name. Damian is not a happy camper.

Jacinto is exercising Saleroso when Gardenia shows up to tell him Cadmilo has just arrived to see him.

Dumian says by the phone number it looks like Eduardo is nearby. He pulls out his phone and tries to get her to call the number and clear up her doubts once and for all. She doesn’t want to call – most likely because she doesn’t want to call in front of Damian. Damian is really mad now - OMG, they are teasing us! I thought for sure he was going to smash the phone down on the floor but he threw the napkin that was in his other hand instead! Damn! SO CLOSE to the first official phone smashing! He walks out and Nanda is left alone at the table.

Damian is now on the phone yelling at Barbara how Nanda got the telegram from Eduardo. He explains how Nanda wouldn’t make the call and just get it over with. She tells him to go with Nanda if she goes to see Eduardo. After she hangs up she thought bubbles that she and the ‘bastardo” will meet face to face.

At the little church in San Rafael, the phone rings and it’s Nanda calling. She asks where she’s called and the woman says it’s the Parroquia San Rafael (Catholic School). Nanda asks for Eduardo, but the woman tells her nobody is there but the Padre Bosco, and Nanda asks to speak with him. The woman tells the Padre but he tells her to tell Nanda that he can’t talk right now, that she should call back later.

Cadmilo wants to speak with Jacinto alone and Gardenia leaves, but hides behind a bush to listen. Cadmilo wants Jacinto to be his spy on Franco Santoro and threatens him with the horse whip. He gets on Saleroso and says if he spies on Franco for him he’ll forget it was his fault his friend Natasha fell off the horse, Jacinto tries to protest, but Cad just screams at him and rides off. Gardenia is mad.

Eddie shows up to see Padre Bosco, who says he’s been waiting for him.

Prisci is back at the Clinica – she’s had a second pregnancy test done and she’s come back for the results.

The Padre is telling Eddie he feels guilty for going along with the plan to send Eddie away 15 years ago. He says he thought he was doing the right thing, but now he’s not so sure because he just got a call from Fernanda Elizalde. The phone rings and yup, it’s Fernanda calling again.

Jacinto is walking Saleroso back to the stable and Camilo is leaving. Gardenia starts in again with her questions. Okay, she’s really pretty, but she is extremely annoying!

Nanda tells the Padre about the telegram with just the phone number and Eduardo’s name on it. Padre tells her to hold on, covers the phone and tells Eduardo that as soon as he’s off the phone Eduardo’s got some ‘splainin’ to do! Nanda tells the Padre she thinks that Eduardo hates her and her family and wants to see Eduardo right away. He asks how soon can she get there, and that she she won’t have to look for Eduardo anymore because she’ll find him there. Eddie doesn’t look too happy with the Padrecito.

Fernanda comes downstairs ready to leave and finds Damian in the foyer. He kisses her and asks for forgiveness. She tells him that she’s on her way to see Eduardo. He wants to go with her but she says she prefers to go alone. Damian angrily says he hopes this will put an end to all this once and for all.

The Padre is talking to Eduardo about his mother, Soledad, and what an admirable woman she was. He says she knew the best thing for him was to send him far away. Eduardo doesn’t understand what good it did if it left him with an empty soul. The Padre says he’s wrong, that his soul is filled with bitterness, resentment and hopelessness. Eduardo asks how he would feel if he were accused of practically being a rapist, and taken away from his mother and his friends at only 12 years old. Padre says he’s not judging, but he doesn’t think what Eduardo is doing is right. He says he loves him like a son and is very proud of him. He doesn’t doubt that Eduardo was mistreated. Eduardo says he understands now that he doesn’t have the Padre’s support. The Padre says what Eduardo is asking him to do is very hard for a priest to do. He says he’ll tell him again, that Eduardo has to distinguish the difference between vengeance and justice. Eduardo asks if the Padre new about the letter that his mother left with Liliana, and he answers only with that Fernanda will arrive any minute. I guess that means he knows about the letter. Now Eddie knows he’s backed the priest into a corner and tells him he’ll count on him. I’m not so sure I like the idea of forcing a priest into this stuff.

Nanda is arriving at the church. Damian is on the phone with Barb and she’s furious when she finds out that Dumian let Nanda go see Eddie alone. He says Nanda wanted to go alone and besides, what does she want him to do, threaten her with a gun or what? Barb says Fernanda’s not such a saint after all, she obviously hasn’t forgotten her feelings for Eduardo. Damian hangs up on her – he’s obviously jealous. Barb calls him back and tells him never to hang up on her again, but he denies doing it, saying they got cut off. She tells him never to forget that she decides everything.

AnyBalls is nagging Daddy again about wanting to talk to Fernanda about her appointment with Franco. He says it looks bad that Fernanda is putting it off. Barb walks in and tells them Nanda has gone to meet Eduardo.

Nanda walks into the church office looking for the Padre – the senora goes to find him.

Lili is finally waking up and asks Martina about Ciro. Frick (or Frack) comes in and tries to intimidate Martina, but Martina punches him in the back when he tries to give Lili her pill – Frick gets scared and leaves.

Nanda tells Padre Bosco that she hasn’t had one moment of peace since Eduardo ruined her wedding. He tells her he understands and that she and Eduardo have a lot to clear up. She doesn’t understand what Eduardo has against her and her family. She asks where Eduardo is. He says that when Eduardo first came back to town he came to see him.

Errorika is calling Las Animas looking for Franco and Gardenia tells her he’s not home. Errorika doesn’t want to leave her name and says she’ll call back later. She thinks to herself how badly she wants to see him again.

At the Grupo Lactos office Prisci has come to see AnyBalls. She hands him the envelope with her pregnancy test results. She tells him he better get happy because she’s pregnant. He says he can’t understand and doesn’t remember what happened that night at that place. She proceeds to explain that the woman at the bordello only “relaxed” him, but the person he really had sex with was her. (I guess that ends all our doubts about turkey basters and other methods of collecting the “tortured renderings”!) He says he doesn’t remember anything. She tells him he drank a very strong cocktail of aphrodisiacs. He asks Prisci if she understands what this means and she says yes, and she also knows that she can’t count on him for anything.

Padre Bosco and Nanda are walking arm in arm, and he tells her that Eduardo has requested that his remains are placed next to his mothers. She isn’t believing what she’s hearing. He tells her Eduardo’s ashes are next to Soledad’s. She still isn’t getting it. Padre shows her the niche with Soledad’s AND Eduardo’s name on it. Eduardo is DEAD. She cries and breaks down on the floor.

Previews: Vlad has come to see Damian about Prisci and Damian tells him Prisci is not going to leave AnyBalls because she’s pregnant – Vlad gets a glimmer in his eye. Martina hold a knife to Dr. Matamentes’ throat. Padre Bosco tells Nanda that Eduardo had an unexplainable car accident. Wow – that is a big lie for a priest to tell. Lili goes to see Ciro.

Doña Bárbara - Tues., Apr. 14 - Desire on the beach

DB stokes up Gonzalo's jealousy by telling him how Santos and Marisela still love each other and are spending time together at Altamira. She says that he has to take Marisela away from there right away or he will lose her.

Santos is kissing Marisela in the bathtub.
M: No, no.
S: Let me stay with you for just a little while.
M: Yes, yes. No! no!
S: Yes, yes, yes.
M: (with the sprayer from the bathtub) No, Santos, no, Get out! Get out!

Santos agrees to leave.

Pajarote tries to understand what Federica is telling him. He can't believe that Genoveva is pregnant. When Federica suggests that Geno didn't tell Pajarote about the baby because it isn't his, Pajarote pushes her away and say that of course it's his. Geno isn't like Federica.

Federica says that at least she gets paid. All Geno's getting is a big belly (panza). "My sweet pineapple with a belly," muses Pajarote, "how lovely." He leaves Federica.

Melesio comes in to the hospital where Cecilia is breastfeeding Lucía's baby. The baby is out of the incubator, which is pretty good for a baby that was born three months premature two days ago. Melesio thanks Cecilia for all she is doing for Antonio and the baby. He says that she has a great soul and now he knows why Antonio never stopped loving her.

Marisela and Santos rehash their usual discussion. Eustaquia sees Santos leave Marisela's room and goes to see her. Marisela tells Eustaquia that she loves Santos so much but she can't take him from DB after what DB has suffered has caused her to lose her mind. Eustaquia seems to be on on the point of telling Marisela the truth when DB returns.

Melesio reassures Antonio that he did right in respecting Lucía's wishes about putting the baby's life first.

DB is knitting and babbling to Santos and Marisela about her baby when Gonzalo comes in and says that he is taking Marisela to the governors' conference at the beach.

Pajarote goes to Melesio's house and accuses the Carmelito and the others of hiding the fact that Genoveva is pregnant.

Santos and Gonzalo are having their usual argument when Marisela tells Gonzalo to wait outside. She will go with him. Santos tries to convince Marisela to stay. She says that she doesn't love Gonzalo but she has to go with him but she will be back and meanwhile he should take care of DB. Santos agrees but says that he is only doing it for her.

When they get back to San Fernando, Marisela tells Gonzalo that she is very tired and wants to be alone. He leaves.

At Altamira, Santos is brooding oblivious to DB and her babble. He says that he is tired and goes to bed.

Gonzalo shows Marisela the sea. He asks if she has forgotten Santos. She replies that Santos belongs to her mother. Marisela belongs to Gonzalo. They kiss. Back at Altamira, Santos wakes up. He says that he can't let this happen and gets out of bed.

At breakfast in the hotel the next morning, Cecilia tells Melesio that she is thinking of renting a house in San Ferncando. Don Encarnación comes into the restaurant and leaves when he sees Cecilia and Melesio.

Pajarote wakes up hung over. He tells María Nieves that he is going to San Fernando to find the mother of his child.

DB runs all over Altamira looking for Santos. Gonzalo and Marisela check into the hotel at the beach. Gonzalo sees Santos come into the lobby of the hotel but he can't avoid being taken to meet the president.

Juan Primito tells DB that he saw Santos with a suitcase leaving in his truck in a big hurry. She realizes that he has gone after Marisela.

Sapo and Facundo congratulate themselves on their plan. The family of the owner sold their hacienda to his agents and then used the money to ransom the owner. So now Sapo has the hacienda and the money. They discuss their plan to get the neighboring hacienda. The owner has a 12-year old son and Sapo is sure the owner will pay to get him released.

Santos tricks the receptionist into giving hm Marisela's room number.

Marisela is very unhappy in her hotel room. She receives flowers from Gonzalo but pays no attention to them. She asks herself what she is doing in a hotel with Gonzalo and says that she has to get used to the idea that she is going to marry him and forget Santos. She wanted Santos to be the one to show the ocean to her. She says it's not the same without him and he appears in her room. She runs to his arms.

Santos brings Marisela to the beach as if it the first time and they play in the water.

DB bribes a pilot to fly her and a very reluctant Melquiades to the beach.

Santos rents a boat and takes Marisela out on it.

Melesio comes to talk to DE. DE initially says that he has nothing to say to Melesio or his family but Melesio tells him that talking releases pain and anger and lets a person see things the way they really are.

Pajarote comes to San Fernando and asks Genoveva why she didn't tell him that she was pregnant. Antonio overhears.
Gonzalo finds that Marisela is not in her room. He guesses that she is with Santos. He says that if Santos touches Marisela, he will kill him.

Meanwhile Santos and Marisla have gone to some secluded beach where they are very happy together and quite a lot of touching is going on.

Tontas Tuesday April 14, '09 There's A Hot New Babe in Town....And It's Lulu!

Absolutely loved the vamp scene with Lulu tonight. Who cares if it was just a dream!? When she came sashaying in to the Mariachi love song, blowing sexy kisses at the musicians and a trembling little Toño it was hot, hot, hot! Almost as good as her rubbing whipped cream all over the fridge when attempting to seduce Meño. The actress is fabulous at sexy humor and I look forward to a fully realized romance with our height-challenged waiter muy pronto. But for now, we have a few other seductions, and failed attempts to cover, so let's get started, amigos.

I figure you know everything that happened last night, either from viewing or from reading Paula's fine recap so let's get to the hot, juicy new stuff. First Santiago's belt buckle, and the rest of him, arrives at Paulina's hotel room to retrieve errant Rocio. Paulina is strangely compliant, astonishing Santiago by purring "your daddy is right. So be good, trot on home with him, darling" (or words to that effect). Santiago is astonished and actually pops back in the door to thank Paulina. He leaves and she gets her crafty and cunning look on. We know for sure she's plotting something.

And now the Mariachis...singing on-key "Solamente una vez, ame en la vida"...One only truly loves once in life and ay yi yi...enter Lulu in a form-fitting plum colored clingy dress, showing off her bounteous curves, looking luscious, sexy, seductive and ready to give Toño a sizzling "beso". Alas, our lovers end up, eyes closed, about 6 inches away from each other. Dang! It was just a dream, but hey, we know this is a dream that CAN come true. So stay tuned. I love these two as a couple.

But THIS couple, not so much. Yep, I'm talking about Gregoria and Pato's sleazy dad. He's wanting to know why she's acting so strange and whether or not she liked the "chicken" last night (I kept wondering if there was a double entendre there or if they really did eat "pollito" at the restaurant). Anyway, she stammers out that dinner was delicious and er, so was the rest. But she just can't handle the guilt. Whoops. This intimate encounter is interrrupted by Sleazebag's current, though separated, wife, who apologizes for the intrusion but is looking for backup in her fight with hubby over money. Naturally Gregoria has to side with her.

But back to our dear Lulu. She's asking Candy for advice (God knows why) and confessing that she kissed Toño but isn't sure of his reaction. His eyes were wide open and then he skedaddled. Or as she says "patatin patatan" and off he went. Not quite the reaction a lovelorn gal would want.

Zamora, back at the restaurant, is trying like mad to find out what "novia" his buddy Toño was dreaming of. They play at hot hot hot, cold cold cold until he figures out it's someone who works at the restaurant. Ye gods! Doña Gogo is corrupting minors, he thinks.

And our favorite little minor, Rocio, is way deep in the blues. She can't even eat, she's so blue, although Granny finally wins her over with a tray of food brought by Donato. And also explains that Daddy is punishing her not because she was "bad" but because she scared him to death by running off from home. He just wants you to think about your actions, she adds gently. Will you help me think about it, Grandmother, sniffles Rocio. Ahhhh....what's not to love about this kid?

The advice session continues with Candy and she whips out her favorite saying "Love has no dress size". Easy for our svelte heroine to say. Lulu knows different. You should see how men look at me, she insists. All they see is "fat".

Now a scene with Marissa and Alicia. And I have some kind of mental block with these two. I NEVER clearly get what they saying to each other and it's something to do with the repulsion I feel for their schemes, I think. So if I'm off...credit my mental illness. Marissa seemed to be saying something about wanting pictures (or videos?) of Santiago desperately looking for her when she has disappeared to have the baby. And Alicia's worried that Marissa is going to double-cross her and wants reassurance that she'll really hand over the infant. And Marissa says sure...I want nothing to do with bottoms, diapers or all the rest. That's what I got. Aaaargggh. If I'm wrong, let me know...I'll fix it. I really do have a block with these two. I'm only human. Mercifully, we break for an ad.

Now another odd couple...but with potential. Donato and Tina. She wants to know if he's still carrying around a photo of Doña Isabella and he is. But it's an impossible love. Nevertheless he's happy that she's happy with her new husband. And guess what...He has a little corner of his heart and who is nestled there? a cute, flirtateous cook (Tina!) Hmmm...this could go places.

Okay, meddling time. Isabella has called Candy to come over so she can let her know Santiago's not marrying Marissa. And it's Candy's fault...'cause he's in love with her. This prompts our heroine to trot up to Santiago's room to talk to him. She's creeping in the door when he informs her he's naked. Our eternal virgin covers her eyes. He reassures her that he has a towel (actually it's a robe) but she better get used to naked men if she's going to spend the next 50 years with him. Whoops, the towel has dropped he adds. And Candy skedaddles. I just can't deal with your son, she huffs to Isabella.

So Mom marches up and when she comes to the door, Santiago laughs and says, Ha, couldn't resist, came back to see me in the buff. Whoops. It's his "santa, pura y casta" (holy, pure and chaste) madonna of a mother. And a "metiche" (meddler) as well. She admits to meddling, and Tina, who happens to be passing by, ogles Santiago in his robe (showing off a bit of chest hair) and reminds him that "her door is always open". Whew...lots of heat in this episode but none of it actually goes anywhere.

Speaking of heat, we have a sexy little scene in the fertility doctor's office. He's a poker-faced (no pun intended) humorless guy but there seems to be a misunderstanding on Chayo's part with performance and sterility. Once they establish that Eduardo just has to produce a "muestra" (sample) for the doctor to analyze, they're both hot to trot with Chayo promising all sorts of help...like dancing, a little whipping etc, chortles Eduardo in anticipation. And they're off to the races. Doc never cracks a smile. Well, he's not having any fun but we surmise our young couple will.

Now we're back at Santiago's house with malevolent Marissa stalking the grounds. Rocio is mad at her because she's told her there's no "hermanito" for her. So she doesn't like the baby OR Marissa. Our witch is outraged. After all I've done for you, she shrieks. When witch no. 2, Paulina, arrives and chases her off. Rocio goes off with Pau, leaving her playmate Chava all alone.

The squabble continues inside. Marissa's complaining about her treatment to Santi. She's also mad that Candy was there. Rocio and Paulina arrive and are perched together and Rocio wants to be just like mom and dress just like her. See how pretty mom is? she adds. Santiago wisely says nothing. And another ad break.

When we come back, more malice aforethought. Isabella's defending her right to let Candy in...after all, it's her house, and Marissa threatens her saying "Too bad for your grandson." Ick. Another mental block for me. Aaaagh. A little humor break here with Donato and Santiago seeming to hear Isabella's thoughts, and the scene ends with Santiago deciding to put an end to it, once and for all. He's sick of Marissa's behavior and her threats. (and so are we)

Back at the restaurant, Lulu is now having that 7th grade chat with Zamora. You know the one....did he ask about me? Do you think he likes me? Does he ever talk about me? Zamora makes some remark about her "abundance" of charms and she's afraid she's not ready for a real life romance.

And Santiago's not ready to marry Marissa. Not now. Not ever. She reverts to threats again. That's it for you kid, she says to her poor unborn child. Don't mess with me Marissa, snaps Santiago. I'm not playing she assures him. We're a package deal, you don't take me, you don't get the kid. Santi protests that this is not a self-service cafeteria but she doesn't budge. I'll just be a single mother.....like so many single mothers all over the world, she sighs.

Alright, another minor humor break in this dreck. Rocio and Chava are having a little domestic dispute in the play house (the one the Abandonados built for Santiago's boy-to-be). She "cooked" so she wants him to do the dishes. But men don't do dishes, that's women's work according to his grandmother Gogo. Men watch soccer on tv while their wives do the dishes. Isabella tactfully concludes that there are differences of opinion on this.

Cece is moving into Soledad's apartment at the same moment Patricio comes to pick up Beto. Soledad follows him out and wants to know if she can "call him sometime". Patricio tells her he's not in a good place right now. She knows....she understands. He's angry...and she's angry too, because she gave him up with without a fight, and she's angry also because someone (Candy!) has hurt him. Pato seems to soften at this. Hmmm...could be potential here. Who knows? And we've got another ad.

Yikes...when we get back, the subject is premature ejaculation. Lordy, we're covering every topic possible in this blasted telenovela. Glum wife, 20 years without an orgasm, is wondering if she'll have the courage to tell her husband things need to change. And Barbara assures her it's a problem that's very easy to fix. (Really?) I could do without returning to this topic....but I'm sure we will. And it'll all be hunky-dory no doubt.

Now some mirror scenes, with the Abandonados teasing Eduardo about his sterility issues and jokes about performance failures on their parts, (quickly denied of course) and the girls are on a similar topic, recalling how romantic encounters fizzled and they had to change from being a girlfriend to a "mother", reassuring the poor lad that "it happens to everybody sometime". And some lame jokes, in my opinion. Cece tells one about Tarzan talking to a mouse or rat (raton) and saying, So little and yet with a mustache! And the raton says to Tarzan, And you soooo big and yet still with a diaper!. Didn't do much for me but if it floats your boat, enjoy.

More girl talk, this time with Rocio, Lucia and Paulina. Rocio's complaining that she can't sleep with the light on. Lucia has to have it on; she's studying for a test tomorrow. Isabella enters just when Rocio says to Paulina, And you're going to give me a little brother, right mom? Impactada look from Isabella. And Paulina laughs and says....Oh my, the things that children say!

Patricio is having dinner with Alicia and she's had the mysterious, never-to-be seen Eva fix his favorite meal. He reminds her this is just a dinner to talk business. She reminds him that she needs to know how much money she can count on per month.....why?...so she'll know how much she can buy for HIS baby. Not my baby, he snaps. I'll support you in the adoption but it's your baby, not mine. She makes a crack about dessert and sugar overload, given how bitter he is. Way to go, Alicia.

The evening's winding down. Soledad and Cece are talking while Beto sleeps with her head on her lap. They're talking about loneliness, and Cece's almost marriage (until she told her fiance about her sexual preferences and he vanished) and how her mother kicked her out when she learned about it. Cece shares about the fear that people who are different sexually experience. The fear of being rejected, pointed at, talked about, discriminated against.....Soledad is wide-eyed and just beginning to understand that there are many kinds of loneliness. Not just her particular loneliness of wanting a man all her own.

And the evening is winding down at Santiago's as well (or at least he thinks it is...he's in for a surprise). He bids Donato good-night and tells him to "keep on with your rounds, Lieutenant", then tiptoes into the girls' room to kiss Rocio and Lucia good-night, then into his own room where, yikes! a barely covered Paulina lounges in his bed. Evidently she plans to start working on that "hermanito" that very night. In words that echo his to Candy earlier that day, she admits that she has absolutely nothing on under her robe. And doesn't get any more action than Santi did earlier.

Alicia's not getting anywhere with Patricio either. She can't hang around for the meeting with the Japanese that he's planning because she's got her own trip planned. Well then, he thought he'd stay at the house while she's gone. I know you're not living with Candy anymore and that it didn't work out, and I'm sorry, Alicia says. But this is YOUR home and you're always welcome.
Nope, Alicia hasn't given up. Just changed tactics.

And Paulina hasn't given up either. She's delighted Santi's not going to marry Marissa (well, we're all delighted, honey) but she'd sure like to provide some warm comfort to her former husband in the meantime. Santiago reminds her that he was crazy in love with her when they married, and she gave him the most wonderful daughter in the world....Rocio...but as a couple, they're OVER. This doesn't make much of a dent until he adds....and I'm in love with another woman. Impactada look from Paulina. And that's it for this evening. Goodnight all.

Previews: Paulina's still arguing her case...she'll be Santi's lover, his secret romance. Will he fall for that? Tune in tomorrow and find out.

Vocabulary:

Proverb of the Day: En boca cerrada no entran moscas. (lit. flies don't enter a closed mouth.) If you keep your mouth shut, you won't put your foot in it. Or...Silence is golden. Eduardo said this when Chayo was telling the doctor that sometimes he had "performance failures".

A similar proverb: Por la boca muere el pez. (the fish dies by it's mouth) Talking too much is dangerous.... or again, Silence is golden.

hacer una montaña de un granito de arena = making a mountain out of a little grain of sand. we'd say "making a mountain out of a molehill". Chayo, speaking to Eduardo about his fears of having to give a "sample".

eso es otro cantar = that's another story (lit. another singing)

discolo(a) = unruly, disobedient. Santiago speaking about Rocio

no me copie = I didn't "track" follow...Zamora, getting befuddled during the Abandonado's rapid fire discussion.

muestra = sample, specimen

MEPS Monday April 13 - this episode left me wanting more......... asskicking.

From Friday – Fr/Ed shows Doctor Obregon who’s boss around these parts.

Margarita is making some tamales, mmmm. I’ve lost 6 of the 20 pounds I’m working on (trying to get back to how thin I was in the picture over to the left) and tamales aren’t on the list of approved foods at the moment. Just the thought of it, mmm. Anyway, there’s a knock at the door, she thinks it’s Gardenia and yells why she doesn’t use her keys. Finally she answers and it’s Jairo and Lucio, looking for Martina and Lil. There is a lot of yelling and at one point Jairo throws Marg on the couch roughly. Then he breaks some stuff, he even flips the table.

Liliana tells Fernanda that Ed comes every day to see her and is upset she married ‘that guy’. Then she starts talking like she’s a kid again, Ed comes and does his homework, something like that, on and on. She mentions La Hiena, Fern tells Damian that’s what they called Barb when they were kids. He laughs hard for a second then recovers. It was pretty funny. Fern asks Lil what Ed is like, Lil says “you know what he’s like – you still love him!” Of course Damian is thrilled at that. Not.

Jairo trashes the house some more. Jacinto busts in and is carrying a riding crop. He knows from Camilo how much those hurt, so he uses it as a weapon to keep Jairo and Lucio away from his wife. He is pretty impressive, coming to the rescue. I would have liked to see him just open a can of whoopass right from the start but he doesn’t. Lucio finds some way to brag about getting Soledad’s house, Jacinto smacks him right in the face. It was AWESOME. More ass-kicking on this show, please. It was so satisfying. Jairo and Lucio leave, uttering many threats along the way.

Barb tells Artemio over the phone – “Eduardo’s days are numbered.” Thanks for the update Barb, too bad you don’t even know where he is.

Fern tries to explain to Lil that they are all grown up now. There is much crying. Lil says that Ed still loves her, he told Lil himself! Damian gets increasingly annoyed.

Apparently Fr/Ed has just told Martina his whole story. Instead of being shocked, she just says “ok cool I’m with you.” At least she’s smart and knows who to ally herself with. So she’s smart, and dresses like that and is able to pull it off. Nice. The nurse walks in (they are in some back room at the loony bin) and Fr/Ed thanks her for her help.

Fernanda gets the details of Eduardo’s visit to the clinic from the doc. He eventually says he has a paper that Ed signed, Fern asks to see it. Damian can’t conceal his annoyance now and doesn’t really try. When they go to the office to get the paper, Ed spies on them through a cracked door. When they are gone, he goes outside to make a phone call.

Martina runs to Lil’s room to check on her. Somehow Ciro’s name comes up and Lil freaks out and wants to go see him.

The nurse tells Ciro that Liliana came back, just for him.

Doctor Obregon finds the ‘signature’ of Eduardo (it’s written in big capital block letters) and gives it to Fern. She asks if she can keep it, Damian asks why? Fern doesn’t have an answer.

Outside, Fr/Ed was talking to someone about plans for his mother’s crypt. He hides behind a tree and spies on Fern and Damian as they come out. She wants to find Ed, he has simply had enough of hearing about Ed and they argue about it. They get in the car and leave.

Gardenia hangs around Las Animas, waiting for Fr/Ed. And OH that dress she has been wearing. I remember asking for an improvement on her hacienda uniform and yes my request has been granted. She is waiting to ask him for help in saving Soledad’s house.

Jacinto and Margarita clean up and talk about Gardenia and her plan to ask Fr/Ed for help. Jacinto is going to go to Fr/Ed’s house to tell him about Jairo and Lucio, thinking the girls are still at Las Animas. On his way out Jacinto tells Margarita to lock the house up tight.

Ed talks to Esteve on the phone, Martina comes outside. I love watching her walk around in that outfit. She tells Fr/Ed that Lil won’t come out, she wants to stay.

Doc Obregon comes into Lil’s room and shoots her up with a big needle, she’s out cold.

Martina says that Lil must be more comfortable here, she understands because now she doesn’t think she can go home again either. We get a shot of Gepetto crying and ranting about his daughter UGLY CRYING ALERT and looking horrible doing it. Fr/Ed says Martina is a good person for helping Lil, even though it cost her so much. He tells her a bunch of the story we’ve already seen in the show so far. He tells Martina that he swears it will work out with her and Gepetto. Then he says he has an idea about what to do about Lil staying in the loony bin.

Doc Obregon is telling Frick and Frack that every day Lil gets a triple dose of the tranquilizer (or medicine or whatever they call it), Frick (or is it Frack?) says that Doc himself said so much might turn her into a vegetable. Doc says how do you know that’s not what I want? Just then Ed busts into the office, reminding me of Clint Eastwook in his old westerns. He lays it out for the doc – Martina is now going to be Lil’s ‘nurse’, she’ll be with her 24/7. If Doc doesn’t go along, Fr/Ed will tell Los Elizalde and the families of all the other patients what has been going on here lately. Doc says Martina won’t look like a nurse (presumably due to her hotness and huge rack) but Fr/Ed just says to make it happen. I would think he’d welcome Martina in a tight nurse’s outfit being around, but then again he does seem sort of gay so who knows.

Arriving back at the Elizalde compound, Damian and Fern are a bit cold to each other, Damian runs off to the office. I know this family owns/runs the company, but I can’t believe how often they AREN’T at work. And when they are there, they aren’t doing anything but arguing with each other. Santiago and Aurora greet Fern, who starts crying. They take her inside.

Fr/Ed and Martina can’t get Lil to wake up, Doc comes in. Fr/Ed pounces and I’m hoping so much for a beatdown but Fr/Ed just swings him around a lot by the front of his shirt. I see him shaking him, threatening him, pushing him back, come on just one good punch! Nope, not today. I’m also really looking forward to (hopefully) Jacinto taking a riding crop to Camilo. Anyway the doctor admits to tranquilizing Lil, claiming she was agitated, etc. That’s when Fr/Ed starts shaking him, yelling that from now on there will be no more drugs of any kind for Lil, none at all. He tells Martina that she can do whatever she has to do to protect Lil. Martina looks like she can’t wait for Doc to step out of line so she can beat him up.

Barb looks at her stolen money on a computer monitor that is from about 1990. Well maybe not the monitor but what she’s looking at on it is some old old software, by the look of it. Damian comes in to her office and retells the visit to Liliana. Basically he says it was a waste of time and Lil’s crazy. Barb wants to know when the processing plant is going to fall apart, Damian says it’s a done deal, she insults him anyway. Just then the phone rings and she is told that there is a big problem with some machinery. Damian has a big grin on his face.

Fernando is convinced that Eduardo is ‘here’, meaning in the area. Santiago figures out that Ed must still love her, he didn’t want her to get married to Damian. Santiago asks what she feels for Ed, she says fear, anxiety, etc. Santiago looks like he wants to say “see you love him too.”

Fr/Ed is finally home, Gardenia asks him for help saving Soledad’s house, he says he can’t help. She is going to press, but Jacinto shows up. Fr/Ed tells him that the Elizaldes volunteered Jacinto to work at Las Animas taking care of the horses. The men leave to go to the stable. Gardenia is crushed. But still looking great in that dress.

Outside, Jacinto tells Fr/Ed about the visit from Jairo, Fr/Ed says not to worry the girls are far away and safe now. Fr/Ed says to leave Lucio be for now, when Barbara goes down Lucio is going down with her.

Doc Obregon brings Martina a nurse’s uniform, unfortunately we don’t get to see her try it on. After he leaves, she tells herself that she is destined to be a nurse. A fake nurse, but still a nurse.

Fr/Ed and Jacinto discuss the identity of the ‘big’ enemy, Jacinto asks if it’s Lucio. Fr/Ed says no, Barbara is the troublemaker around here and there is someone behind her that they need to find. Jacinto then tells Fr/Ed that Fernanda is desperately trying to find him (as Eduardo), Fr/Ed says that she’ll know where he is soon, “she will have news from me tomorrow.”

Tomorrow’s show – Eduardo gets a note to Fernanda with a phone number on it, it appears that it’s the number of a church/monastery/something.

Las tontas no van #90, Mon 4/13, It’s a runaway extravaganza!

In tonight’s episode, Chava wants to run away with Pat, Gregoria wants to run away from Art’s advances (run, Gogo, run!), Candy runs away from a difficult conversation with Soledad, Candy won’t let Soledad run away from a difficult conversation, and Rocío runs away.

Chava decides that if his dad isn’t going to live there anymore, he wants to live with his dad rather than his mom. Candy looks like a piano just fell on her head. The only person she has ever cared about more than herself is threatening to leave her. Chava has just given Pat tremendous control over Candy, right on the heels of Candy telling Pat to move out, but Pat declines. Since the beginning, Pat has struggled to be a better person, and today he shows himself noble. Gathering all his strength, he tells Chava that the boy’s number one job is to take care of his mama, so he must never tell her that he doesn’t want to live with her because it would make her sad. Pat only lets himself cry when Chava isn’t looking. What a hero! With one stroke, he willingly gives up the company of the two people he loves most.

Ed proves to Chayo that the woman who appeared at her door was a fraud. He doesn’t have a second house, a second wife, or any children. Chayo feels like a fool for giving the woman all Ed’s money. He kisses her to make her feel better, as we look at their portrait and think of once and future happier times.

Santi has a suggestion for Marissa. He can arrange for the baby to be born at his clinic (where he will have more control). Mar sends him back to the kitchen for salt and chili and lemon (because she wants more control over him).

Santiago goes home and is surprised to find Pat in his den, the same room where Candy broke the bad news to him. Santi must be wondering if Pat is there to deck him for taking his wife. Quite the contrary. Pat tries to explain that he left Candy’s house and didn’t know where he’d end up. Santiago is still the closest thing he has to a friend. Santi suggests he’ll find someone else, but Pat is sure he’ll never love anyone else (I’m sure Santiago can relate to that). Continuing his hero streak, Pat tells Santi that he doesn’t blame Santi for what happened, and what he wants most is for Candy to be happy.

Candy reassures Chava that even though Pat is moving out, Chava will still see him, and his daddy still loves him. She falls asleep next to Chava and dreams a montage of our favorite moments between Candy and Santiago: tonight’s serenade, orange-sweater support during the leukemia crisis, the buried heart box, dueling serenades, “estoy dispuesta,” an attempted medallion return, phone dancing, one-winged angels, and a surprise tango. She awakens with a startle and a smile that says, “What a man!” Yeah, Candy, it’s about time that you wake up!

Santiago meets with Luc and Charly to check where their relationship stands, and to suggest that they go together to talk to a doctor who was Santi’s much-respected mentor.

At a restaurant, Gregoria repeatedly asks Arturo to stop holding her hand. He repeatedly ignores her request. (I adore you. Now shut up.) What’s next, handcuffs? Even though she doesn’t want him to touch her hand, he feels it is appropriate to ask her, “Do you have to return to your house to sleep?”

In the morning, Charly is running out the front door and meets Gregoria coming in. Charly thinks she must have gotten up and gone out early. He says, “Al que madruga, Dios lo ayuda” (God helps those who wake up early). Meño notices that when she ‘woke up early,’ she put on last night’s clothing. Candy comes down for breakfast, Meño covers for Greg, Candy gives him a look, and Meño tells her, “Don’t ask me questions that will make me lie.” He suggests that Greg is changing from a pillar of salt into a woman. With a man who respects his neckties more than he respects her. But who am I to judge?

Charly, Lucía, and their fathers meet with Santi’s old mentor, a respected immunologist who has good things to say about Santi professionally. They discuss the course of Charly’s treatment and the progress of the disease. The doctor wants to talk to Charly and Luc alone, and Charly looks like he’s been sent to the asst. principal’s office. The doctor gives them a PSA that’s more direct and harsh than the ones to date.

Ceci shows up at Soledad’s door in the morning to take her out to breakfast. She would like to rent a room from Sol to save money and also help out Sol. Soledad gives her usual wide-eyed stumped look. Sol goes to Candy for advice, and in her usual sensitive, considerate manner, Candy bashes Soledad for being anti-gay.

On the subject of unwanted visitors, Paulina shows up at the big house with suitcases. Rocío is ecstatic to see her. Isabel, not so much. Pau asks Roc, “How would you like if I move to Guadalajara?” She must have heard that Santiago is getting married.

In the waiting room, Meño notices that Santiago seems so content lately. He admits that his life is going better. On one side, he is relieved that Luc is safe. On the other side, he feels hopeful about Candy now that she sent Pat packing. Meño asks, isn’t he comprometido (engaged) to corn-hair? No, Santi corrects, he is comprometido (committed) to his son whom corn-hair carries. And all he can think about is Candy. It’s only fair that now he deserves his turn. Meño compares him to Vicente Fernandez (whereas Santiago compares himself to the sexier Alejandro Fernandez); I don’t know why. Meño agrees that Santi deserves Candy, but he observes that Santi’s palm says an obstacle is on the road to his love life. His palm must know that there are still fifty episodes left in the series.

Ole sneaks into the institute. He’s tired of no women liking him, and he’s tired of the “pain in the neck” from tilting back his head to look at anyone. Lulu assures him that he’s just fine as he is, and to prove it she gives him a big kiss.

Donato is upset that Paulina is back. Tina is upset that she might have another lump.

Cleaning up breakfast, Candy asks her mom what’s going on. Gogo says, “Last night I slept with Art.” But that was her imagination. What she actually says is, “Last night I dreamed about your father.”

Santi is in his office telling Mar she’s supposed to be on bed rest. Paulina barges in and says, “I’m here to tell you, you can’t marry this woman.” Santi tries to stop the catfight; I say he should sell tickets. Mar rebukes Pau for abandoning her own child. Pau comes right back, saying that Mar is trying to take her baby from his own father for revenge. Mar and Santi ask in unison, “How did you know?” Mar and Pau continue trading insults, talking simultaneously, and I can’t understand a word. But Santi can. He is laughing at each jab because he likes seeing both brujas get what-for. Mar and Pau ask in unison, “What are you laughing at?”

Soledad puts it to Candy. “You dumped Pat? You don’t like him now? I gave up without a fight because you convinced me that you loved him (querer). He and I were fine until you showed up.” Candy’s usual answer? “Now is not the time to talk about this.”

Rocío calls her papa. “When my mama moves in with us, can she stay in my room?” Papa explains that Pau will stay in a hotel. And “we’ll talk about this when I get home” (I love how Santi acts like a father instead of a buddy). Roc turns on the tears and hangs up. Santi tries to set Pau straight. “Stop making Roc promises you can’t fulfill.” He also tells her to stop popping in and out of her daughter’s life. Pau’s request? “Don’t marry that woman. When are you ever going to learn how to choose a partner?” Preach it, Sister! Santi tries to talk to Mar about the upcoming wedding (or lack thereof), but she waddles off before he can say anything.

Candy, who flees every serious conversation, insists Soledad talk to Ceci right now about her opinion of Ceci moving in, whether Soledad wants to or not. (And Candy is involved in this decision because.. ???)

Art comes to see Gregoria, but she’s taking Chava to the park to play soccer, so he invites himself along. Later Margarita shows up at the door, and Charly tells her that Art and Gogo went to the park. Marg gives a knowing look.

Don takes Pau’s suitcases out of Rocío’s room to move them to her hotel, per Santi’s instructions. He refuses to listen to Roc’s pleas. Luc is too busy studying, so she doesn’t listen to Roc either. So Roc stows away in the car, catches a ride to her mama’s hotel, and tricks the bellhop into taking her to Paulina’s room.

Remember how happy Pau was to see Roc when she was trying to invade Santi’s house? Notice how unhappy she is to see Roc when it doesn’t advance her goals? Roc wants to stay, but Pau insists on calling Santi to let him know where his daughter is. While Pau is getting her some ice cream, Roc answers the knock on the hotel room door. She opens the door and sees her papi’s belt buckle. Going up from there, he looks every inch the father, large and in charge. Ruh-roh!
