La Fea Más Bella #41-42 10/11/10 A nightmare and a dream.
Capitulo 41
1. Marcia tells Alicia she’ll just have to live within her means. Alicia thinks Omar will be her salvation.
2. Lety asks Fernando what will happen if Omar’s contact is a fraud, the equipment never arrives, and they lose $2M. He tells her to stop being so pessimistic. Omar calls and says they need to prepay. Lety really doesn’t like that.
3. Marcia sets up a meeting with model Isabella Conde. Marcia lets Alicia go as her assistant, but Ali acts like a big cheese..
4. Luigi’s buddies dress and make-up Fernando for the fiesta. Celso spots him leaving. What I like best about Fernando in drag, is the furry cleavage!
5. Fer-lil-nando makes his appearance at the transvestite ball and wants to leave immediately, but he’s parked in. Luigi reminds him this ain’t Conceptos and he ain’t the boss here.
6. Marcia invites Isabella to Fernando’s house. Ariel doesn’t want to join Marcia because he doesn’t want to see Fernando. Marcia asks him what will happen when she gets married – will he refuse to visit? Will he lose his sister? She says they musn’t let business rivalry get in the way of family.
7. Fernando can’t catch a cab and guys hanging out on the street give him a hard time. He can’t ask Marcia for help because Ariel and the others are at the house.
Capitulo 42
Read Kim's original recap, the section called “Missing Recap 24: Whiskered corncake rescues damsel in distress.” Then come back here to discuss it..
Marcia’s trying to cover the awkwardness at Fernando’s house, and on the phone he keeps telling her he’ll be there ASAP. Ariel works at picking up Isabella.
Fernando calls Lety to come rescue him. I love so many little things in this episode, from this point forward. Will you indulge me a bit, and let me list all the little things I loved?
• Mama wakens Lety to tell her Fernando is on the phone. Lety, still groggy, says, “No, I wasn’t dreaming about Don Fernando. I never dream about him.” Then, more awake, “It’s true? It’s not a dream?!!”
• Mama tries to stop her but Lety is determined. “Don Fernando needs me, now more than ever. I won’t abandon him.”
• Lety and the taxista find Fernando. Even though Lety is his only hope, and even though she came out in the middle of the night to rescue him, almost the first thing he says is, “Recognize me or you’re fired!” Dirty rotten fink!
• Fern says, “I beg you, get me out of here! It’s making me loco!” The taxista says, “It’s better to say ‘loca.’ “
• Lety says, “Don’t worry. Your secret’s safe with me. Nice dress.”
• Fernando tells her to stop talking nonsense; he lost a bet with Luigi. Lety looks heavenward and says, “Thank you, God!”
• At the Conceptos gate, the police want to haul Fern down to the station. He grabs Lety as his human shield, wraps his arms around her, and holds her tight against his chest. And this time she’s not dreaming! But, Boy Howdy! is she smiling!!
• After the police leave, she giggles, he plays the clown, and she joins in (Marcia NEVER joins in his bobarías). The exchange is brief but very warm. They are very comfortable together.
• We get a close-up of his legs, a sight rarely seen – seriously! We discover that nobody’s perfect, not even Camil. Colunga has those ears, and Camil has those calves.
• Julieta sees her daughter’s boss for the first time ever, and she says, “I imagined you differently.” She also says, “You look very different from your pictures in the magazines.”
• Fernando draws himself to his full height, lowers his voice a half octave, and greets Julieta very formally. How can anyone in a fuschia strapless gown and pink hair look so darned masculine??
• Fernando hides his 6’3” frame under a 3’ coffee table
• Erasmo talks about how badly her boss treats her, and Erasmo is ready to go down to Conceptos and teach that tipo a thing or two! We watch Fernando’s reaction to all Erasmo’s comments.
• Lety brings an avacado to remove the make-up. Fernando says, “How can you think of making tacos at this hour? There aren’t any tortillas!!”
• Their conversation just before he leaves. See the transcript.
• When Lety’s writing in her diary. How moved she is, that Fernando was at her house.
• Lety’s fantasy that Fernando comes back. See transcript. For me, this one was the most delicious fantasy to date.
Fern tells Marcia that he went to the transvestite ball, that he did it to keep Luigi from quitting, and that it was an infierno for him. Marcia has compassion because he had such a horrible night, and she does all she can to comfort him and help him forget the nightmare. Oops! Just another fantasy! Actually she reams him out for doing something so idiotic, hiding it from her, and running to Lety for help. She moans, “Why? Why Lety and not me???” That question gives Fernando pause for thought.
Spanish Lesson
Marta I has volunteered to write the Spanish Lesson translations, and that will be a HUGE relief to me, considering the demands of the double episodes. Here is her first one. Thank you, Marta!!
Fernando leaves Lety's house
Fer: I have to run, Lety, and me with this outfit. Look at this. It’s not that I expected your dad’s clothes to be super-elegant! It’s just that it does not fit me right, it’s not my style, right?
Lety: How could it be your style, no?
Fer: Hey, Lety, do you have money to loan me for the taxi? I just don’t have any.
Lety: Of course, Don Fernando. I hope this is enough.
Fer: What a pretty wallet. Look, I look like a bullfighter, Leticia. How will I go out to the street like this? Hey thank you. I will pay you tomorrow for sure? I have to call Marcia. She must be thinking the worse, you know how bitter/angry she gets. You know.
Lety: I can imagine.
Fer: Hey, and take the costume back to return it to Luigi. Take it in a taxi, so you don’t have problems with the bus. And hey, thank you for everything. Thank you very much.
Lety: You are welcome, Don Fernando.
Fer: (turns around) Know what? I’m still worried about your dad.
Lety: Ay, the problem is he is very temperamental. But I swear if he had discovered you, neither my mom nor I would have let him lay a finger on you, Don Fernando!
Fer: No, but I am not referring to that, (I am referring) to what he said about me, Lety.
Lety: He was, I don’t know, in a real bad mood. And when he gets like that he says whatever comes to his mind!
Fer: But he believes I treat you badly. Do I treat you badly Lety?
Lety: It’s just that he once heard you yelling at me and he got mad. He went to Conceptos to confront you but I did not let him. Take it easy, he won’t do anything to you.
Fer: I know he won’t do anything to me, but, no, I mean.. Its just that it bothers me that he has that image of me, Lety, you know? of the company above all. It’s a nightmare to work with us, right? Especially with me. jajaja
Lety: Of course not, Don Fernando. I am happy with you.
Fer: Know what? I will make every effort to not yell at you so much. I promise.
Fernando Returns
Let: What’s the matter, Don Fernando?
Fer: I already called home.
Let: Did you forget something?
Fer: Yes. Know what? I want to… I want to tell you that tonight you were very good to me (se portó muy bien conmigo) Lety. If you had not helped me I would have been LOST.
Let: Ay, Don Fernando, I would do anything for you.
Fer: Yes, I see that. For that reason I want you to know that I too am willing to do anything for you, Lety. Yes, I don’t know, I don’t know.. I’ve never felt this way. You know? And suddenly I realize that… that I am…
Let: Yes??
Fer: That I am hopelessly in love with you, Lety.
Let: Are you saying that truthfully?
Fer: Yes. You are more than an angel in my life, Lety, you are everything. Everything, and even a little bit more.
Let: Ay! That is the most beautiful thing that I ever heard in my life!
Fer: Forgive me for expressing myself this way, but I couldn’t help it anymore, I had to tell you! My dear, thank you, thank you, my dear, my queen. Lety.. Lety..

Llena de Amor #45 Fri 10/8/10
Emil complains to Low about his problems, including Fedra being out all night and getting jacked. Emil confronts him about Fedra’s designer living in the same building as his love nest. He concocts some story about Francois, the designer, oh yeah I know that guy. Emil tells Low that he doesn’t approve of his philandering ways. He reminds him that Muneca is the part owner of the agency and he just represents her. He tells Low that if Muneca gets tired of Low, he (Emil) will side with Muneca, and ‘you know’. That is him not saying that if that happens, Low will get bounced out on his ass.
Kristel and Ilitia gripe about Mari working at the agency, and the appearance of Jackie. Kristel tells Ilitia sorry, but if Jackie wants to steal Eman, he is as good as stolen. Ilitia doesn’t like that.
Muneca and Jackie share memories of Jackie’s mother. Jackie pumps her for info on the impending Eman/Ilitia wedding. Muneca tells her that she is invited, but doesn’t expect that she’ll go. Jackie says no she won’t, and neither will anyone else, because those two aren’t going to get married. She goes on about the pain she felt when Ilitia stole Eman from her, she is basically declaring war right here to Ilitia’s mother. Muneca says you can’t stop the wedding, sorry. Jackie says I don’t have to, because YOU are going to stop it. Jackie tells her that before her mother died, she told Jackie her little secret – that Ilitia is adopted. How is that going to look if the news gets out? I didn’t realize that being adopted would ruin a model’s career, I’m failing to see the logic here. A cultural thing I guess, or something about her not coming from proper parentage or some crap like that.
Mari runs home and says out loud “Eman in love with me? That would be like a dream!” Eman’s voice says, it isn’t a dream. He’s sitting right there on her bed and somehow she didn’t see him. I suspect fantasy sequence, let’s see. She asks are you really in love with me? He says (in very long fashion) yes. The sappy music plays and they kiss. The phone rings, waking her up from her dream. Yes, it was a fantasy sequence. Emil is on the phone. He wants to know why she quit? She says something about not feeling good, he tells her not to lie, he knows it’s about her boyfriend. When she comes to work in the morning they will have a serious talk.
Muneca paces around and frets.
Jackie shows up to Low’s love nest, he is already in his silk jammies and robe, in full Hef mode. They do gross flirting stuff. She tells him that she was at his house earlier talking to his wife, getting tips on how to please him. He bristles, she tells him it was a joke, she was there because Muneca and her mother were so close. When low goes to get a drink for Jackie, Jackie pours some powder in Low’s drink. He proposes a toast to an ‘unforgettable’ night. I suspect that in reality, he won’t remember any of it.
Mari talks to Brandon, who is super duper jealous about her working at the agency with Eman. Some noise comes from the other room so they go in there, everyone else is watching TV. Her commercial comes on where she gets diet powder dumped on her. A guy that lives there named Jairo says something about getting into TV, Brandon says well talk to Mari, she’s an executive at an agency and she’s an expert in humiliations! He pouts and stomps off like a teenager.
I guess nobody can find Axel, Gretel and Eman are arguing with Emil about it. The kids tell Emil that if anything happens to Axel, it’s his fault for kicking him out. He (Axel) made the decision to be how he is etc etc. Eman says if Emil doesn’t let Axel come home, then he will move out too. Emil says fine, then get out now. Tia Carlota bursts in and reads Emil the riot act, saying who do you think you are? A judge condemning your kids! She tells Emil that if Axel can’t come back to this house, she will have nothing more to do here, and Emil will have to suffer the consequences.
Brandon’s Mom defends Brandon, she can work anywhere but men like him aren’t that easy to find. Netty comes home and cries that they treated her poorly and nobody remembered her. The producers used to fight over her! Gladiola says get the popcorn, start the video, code red! Everyone starts running. No idea what that is about.
While trying to be smooth, Low gets some kind of headache and almost passes out. His unforgettable night is about to be forgotten. He’s out now. Totally out. Jackie gets out some scissors and a plastic bag, she cuts off a bit of his hair. GAH that’s not how it works for DNA! You need the part of the hair that is under the skin (I can’t remember what it’s called), not just random pieces of hair. She calls Begonia to give her the good news.
Begonia goes back to the TV room in the Pension, they are watching some old show with Netty in it, one that she won an award for. They all applaud her, she stands up and bows. Wow that didn’t take much effort to cheer her up.
Spiderus tells Fedra she has to get Mari back to the house, so she can attend to destroying her more easily, like Eva.
Brandon tells Oliver that he’s breaking up with Mari. She started this whole thing to make Eman jealous, which isn’t going to work if they work together all day. Brandon gets a phone call, he says he’ll be right there. He tells Oliver that someone found a body and the description is similar to Axel. Gretel just happens to have walked in and freaks out.
Ilitia is trying to bully her way into the agency to see Eman, the desk girls are shutting that down. Ilitia tries to say that Eman’s commands were a joke. She insults them, “are you not smart enough to realize how stupid you are?”, then acts like she’s just going to go on in, but turns and bumps into a big security guard who shakes his head no at her.
Gretel continues to freak out. Oliver says they don’t know who it is yet, so chill! Brandon says someone has to identify the body, will she come along? Oliver hates the idea.
Jackie is wearing a dress that covers more than before, so I guess the changes she asked for weren’t made. She is having pictures taken, Low comes in and tells the photographer to get out for a minute. Low asks Jackie what happened last night, she says nothing except she found out he isn’t the tiger he thought he was. Just then Emil and Eman wander in arguing, would they have done that if the photo session was still going on? Emil wants to know why the film session isn’t ready, Emil says that everyone isn’t there yet, Begonia had to drop off the baby. Low busts in to say I told you so about hiring her. Eman says there was something else missing too, something Mari was supposed to do. Low pounces on this, saying sorry Emil, I know she’s your niece, but if she doesn’t shape up we’ll have to fire her. Mari walks in and says not necessary, I quit!
Begonia must be using extra boob hanging out to convince the doctor to do the DNA test because those babies are one deep breath from popping free. Nice swim strap tan lines too, I can’t believe they didn’t cover that with makeup or something. She gives the doctor some blood and Low’s hair. Doc says ok, a couple days and you’ll have news. She tells the baby that when they prove that Low is the father, things are gonna change!
Emil tries to talk Mari out of it, Low says “hey she quit let her go”. Emil tells him to get out this is family business. He says fine, come on Jackie we’ll go talk about work. Jackie tells him that she hopes he doesn’t fall asleep in the middle of their talk. HA. Eman wants to know why she is quitting. She says it’s too much to work and go to school, so that’s it. Eman says ah, no, your boyfriend pressured you to quit, right?
Low tries to save face with Jackie, “that never happened before!” He wants another chance and moves in all slimy to try and work his magic. She tells him that she’s not interested.
Eman and Emil lay into Mari, “today he won’t let you work here, what tomorrow? You can’t even come see us?” Mari says she made this decision herself, it’s their problem if they don’t believe her. Eman tries to stop her, then Iliia walks in and tells Eman that if Mari wants to leave, let her! How did she get in? Low reappears and is glad to see her. Jackie asks if they are going to work or just talk about personal problems, because she’ll quit too! Ilitia says ok fine, BYE. Ilitia says if a real model is needed, she is here herself. Low agrees.
Carlota wants to know why Fedra hasn’t talked Emil into accepting Axel. Fedra acts like she actually would do that. What a suckup. Gretel and the cops who never dress like cops come in and Gretel says it may be too late for that. They ask Fedra to come with them to see the body.
Eman tells Ilitia to quit acting like a baby. Ilitia and Jackie sling insults at each other. Eman reminds Ilitia that she isn’t allowed in the agency. Low says what? She can come whenever she wants! Mari says again that she’s leaving. Eman tells her to wait, Mari says attend to these two that are fighting over you. Eman’s phone rings, he tells Mari to wait. Spooky music tells us it’s bad news. It’s Gretel telling Eman to come. Emil wants to know what Gretel said.
Everyone shows up at the morgue but it looks more like a hospital. Fedra tells Gretel to quit crying, she doesn’t have time to deal with her having a crisis. Wow this bitch is cold. Gretel says what are you going to do if it’s Axel, throw a party to celebrate the death of your son? Fedra goes to smack her but Oliver stops her. Fedra says who are you, butting in our business? He says nobody now, but later you’ll have to deal with me.
Carlota talks to Paula in the kitchen. Carlota says how has it come to this? Paula says if you want to know who’s at fault, look around you. Carlota says you’re right, Fedra and Emil aren’t taking care of their kids. Kristel and Orangey burst through in the middle of some flirt game or something and Carlota yells at them and says Axel might be dead.
Benigno tells Maximo what’s going on with the cops, etc. Maximo looks like he’s having a heart attack.
Mari shows up at the morgue, everyone is hyper but nobody knows for sure if it’s Axel or not. Fedra acts all worked up and says she can’t handle it, she can’t see the body if it’s really Axel. Brandon says they haven’t identified the body still, this family will have to identify him. Ilitia showed up too to comfort Eman, Mari is jealous. Eman says it all has to be a mistake, it can’t be Axel. Oliver’s phone rings, it’s Doris looking for an update. No news. Doris tells the other ladies in the house what’s going on.
Brandon says that they are still doing the autopsy, so they’ll have to wait before seeing the body. Fedra puts on an act like she cares. Brandon says the person died in a bar fight. Eman loses it and starts yelling at his parents that it is their fault that this happened because of how they treated Axel, they are guilty of killing his brother! He’s totally right, of course. Emil cries and Fedra tries to look like she cares.
Muneca is having a breakdown over keeping the secret of Ilitia being adopted. She is dumping all of her angst on the poor maid, who has apparently become a close friend to her. She could never get pregnant and then she found out that Low knocked up some slut who wouldn’t and couldn’t take care of the baby. Muneca took the baby and that baby is Ilitia!
Emil tells Eman that he is right, it is his fault. He was a bad father. Fedra says they don’t know yet that it is Axel. He says whatever, we were so wrong!
Netty is dressed all in black, ready to go comfort poor Emiliano on his loss. The other ladies rightly point out that they don’t even know yet that Axel is the dead guy. Netty says whatever Emil needs me now more than ever! She’s so desperate it’s sad.
Kristel talks to Fedra by phone. Kristel can’t stand just waiting, she wants to do something useful. Should she plan a funeral service? Even Orangey in the background rolls his eyes at this, knowing what a stupid idea that was. Fedra says no, they don’t even know if it’s Axel! She hangs up on Kristel. Kristel whines and then Benigno comes in screaming for help, Maximo needs help! Carlota hears too and runs off.
Fedra stops Mari and gives her a hard time, asking what she’s doing here. Mari says Axel is her cousin, of course she is concerned. Fedra says sure, you love your cousins, that’s why you wanted to take Eman’s place at the agency. Mari says that’s not true and now’s not the time to talk about this. Ilitia and Spiderus are eavesdropping on this conversation rather boldly. Fedra says then tell me when we SHOULD talk about it. Brandon interrupts to say it’s time to see the body.
Paramedics have arrived to tend to Maximo, Benigno continues to run around yelling like a nutcase. Kristel whines about all the stress of everything.
Fedra whines that she can’t go see the body, again. Brandon says she has to, it should be the parents. Spiderus jumps in to say that he’ll go in. WTF. Eman says no, it should be family, he’ll do it. Gretel says she’ll go too. Emil says now that he’s going too, Mari too. Branon hugs Mari. Ilitia tells Eman that she can’t go with him, she just can’t. He says it’s ok. They go down the hall.
They go into a room with a body covered by a sheet. Eman hopes that this is really just a bad dream. Brandon says he hopes it isn’t Axel, Eman says thank you. Brandon knocks on the window for the guy to show the face, and the show ends. I knew without a doubt that there was no way we were going to see today who the body was.
Monday – Muneca tells Ilitia that she isn’t her daughter. Netty gets her wish and makes out with Emiliano in some hallway somewhere. AND – Brandon and Ilitia get hot and heavy, I think at HER HOUSE, and her parents barge in and interrupt them. Monday’s show looks good. No hint about Axel though. I have a feeling (guessing, no spoilers) that it isn’t Axel or that would be the focus of the entire show on Monday.

Dinero, Friday, October 8th – No barbecue, but things are really cookin’
After yesterday’s previews, I was all excited that I’d get to recap the soon to be legendary barbecue at the hacienda, replete with food, drinks, all the rivals for all the loves, and of course, bikinis. But such was not to be. However, there were all sorts of fun developments tonight, together with musical entertainment and some wicked humor, so I wasn’t disappointed in the least. I guess it was like the appetizer for the big meal, full of zest, and very savory, getting us ready for the feast. My mouth is watering, just thinking about it. Let’s enjoy.
Vicky is hot to trot, suggests a hotel where she and Rafa can do “cositas”. She plants a Carmela-style kiss on Rafa, which he bravely endures before pulling back, they “need time” before their passion can come back. She’s not buying this, but he’s saved by the bell, that is, his cellphone, Doña Arcadia has summoned him. Well, can’t keep the boss lady waiting, as he tells Her Royal Highness to count to ten, and before the rooster sings, he’ll be there!
Said exalted one has summoned Pepeto and Dandy to solve the mystery of why they were hiding from Carmela. She tells them “I’m waiting” (estoy esperando). However, esperando also means expecting, so Dandy stupidly asks if she’s expecting a baby. Guess not, she’s expecting an explanation. They’re shocked she knows all about the hiding, wondering if she’s a clairvoyant (vidente) or fortune-teller (pitonisa). She intimidates them into talking. “Once upon a time” (habia una vez), begins Dandy, but Arcadia’s already heard Cinderella 1000 times, and finally gets the boys to talk. They start with the fact that Jimenez saw Carmela and Marco kissing. Oooh, this is good, thinks Arcadia, ordering Chato to bring her “medicine” (which looks like brandy).
It’s evening in a windy, leafy, rootop café, and Marco greets a recalcitrant Alejandra. She gets right to the point, telling him she’s quite troubled by the fact that Rafa’s Mom was put in jail just now, she thinks Marco did it to separate Rafa and Ale. Marco starts out with it’s just a coincidence, there’s no proof, but Ale (finally) isn’t buying it, and Marco takes off the gloves. He thinks Ale should come back to him, and if not, there just might be “more coincidences” that put the mother of “that lowlife” in jeopardy. “You disgust me” replies Ale (Yes!), finally seeing Marco’s true colors.
Felipe’s doing the crossword puzzle. What’s a burro with four letters? He thinks it’s Pancho, Pancho thinks it’s Felipe, Dad corrects them, it’s un asno (a donkey). In waltzes Vicky, chirping away happily. She’s getting her pajarito back, Doña Leonor’s out of jail, and they’re having a “surprise party” at Leonor’s house. In a half hour. The boys wonder how she can cook up something to bring to the party that fast, but in less than two minutes, she brings out 4 HUGE platters of meaty dishes,
pointing out that a woman in love can do anything. As she goes back into the kitchen, Gaston wonders if he wasted his money on that psychologist. The boys point out that after dealing with Vicky, the psychologist probably needed treatment for himself (I agree).
Marco insults Ale a bit, calling her ungrateful, immature, etc., when who should show up but Daniel, bringing an instant smile of relief to Ale’s face, and prompting Marco to go postal. What’s up, now you’re changing suitors like handkerchiefs (cambiando pretendientes como pañuelas)? Daniel defends Ale, saying he knows martial arts (yeah, right). Mad Marco’s getting red,
but Dapper Dan is cool, just lapping it up.
The yelling starts, and Ale threatens to leave if Marco doesn’t sit down. He sits, and Daniel tells “Marquito” that he can see from a mile away (a leguas) that Ale doesn’t love Markie anymore. So why not get divorced like a civilized couple? Ale agrees. Daniel then asks if Marco’s coming to the party at the hacienda. This really gets Marco upset, he was the last to hear of this (and he thinks to himself, what gives? It must be Shrimp Man). Daniel thinks to himself, if this guy only knew that I bought the hacienda…. Ale thinks to herself, gotta get out of here, I miss Rafa. Marco’s phone rings, and as usual he says it’s Urdiales (it’s really Claudia, inviting him for a night of steamy passion). He moves a few feet away to answer. And guess what! Daniel knows Urdiales, and doesn’t think Marco works for him. Ale says he works in secret. We’ll see, muses Daniel (another Yes!) Marco leaves.
Daniel convinces “Ale chiquilla” (Ale my little kid) to stay for dinner, and he proceeds to pour on the bull about how he’ll do anything for Ale, he’s patient, caring, wonderful, and doesn’t she find a few things about him appealing? Ale admits he has no problems whatsoever with self-esteem (!) Daniel asks if Arcadia and Beltran can come to the party. No problem (it looks as if the immediate world will be there). She also has her doubts about his ownership of the hacienda, but he says he’ll prove this soon. He goes on and on about how wonderful he is, her wishes are his desires. She goes okay, I desire to go home, But she does have one question. Is he going to keep talking and talking all night? No, just until we get to your house, he says slyly.
After remarking that she wishes Pepeto would change his name, because it sounds too much like “mamotreto”, (which is a big, useless book), Doña Arcadia gets Rafa to confirm Dandy and Pepeto’s account about Carmela. Rafa says they had to prove that sneaky Marco is a con-man, who cheats Ale left and right (la engaña a diestra y siniestra). They knew Marco kissed Carmela, and Rafa is sure that since Carmela is in charge of the legal procedures with the hacienda, there must be some kind of deal between her and Marco. Arcadia then says what we’ve been saying for months. If you really care about Alejandra, why don’t YOU go confront Carmela personally, instead of sending your buddies? (Amen!) Rafa realizes she’s right, and thanks her. Chato brings some beef tacos, cooked onions and pápalos, (a green herb which helps digestion), all of which turn out to be for the dogs. But Arcadia decides she and Rafa can have some, too. She lovingly watches her doggies eat. When they seem to gorge on the meat and leave the tortillas, she reminds them to eat the tortillas, too, they need their calcium.
And boom, we’re at the party! No, not the hacienda party, it’s welcome home to Leonor, with balloons and signs at the family home.
So what can top this? Rafa’s gonna sing! Julieta puts on a karaoke disc, the dancing starts (Leonor showing some excellent moves),
and Rafa sings Que Esto Que Lo Otro. Here’s a link. And here are the lyrics:
LA VECINA DEL NUMERO 18 LE DIJO A LA DEL 10
QUE HACE MUCHO QUE ESTOY LLEGANDO TARDE
AQUÍ YA COMO VES.
TANTO CHISME YA TIENE HASTA
EL COPETE A MI POBRE MUJER
DON CIPRIANO EL DE LOS ABARROTES
YA NI ME QUIERE VER
QUE ESTO QUE LO OTRO CHISMES NOMAS
DOÑA JUANA LE PLATICO A MI HERMANA
QUE EL SABADO ME VIO
CON LA SEÑO QUE VENDE LOS TAMALES
Y QUE HASTA ME BESO
MIS AMIGOS ME DICEN QUE ME CAMBIE
YA DE ESA VECINDAD
SI NO HAGO UN DIA YA DE PLANO
ME VAN A DIVORCIAR
QUE ESTO QUE LO OTRO CHISMES NOMAS
NUNCA LE DAS GUSTO A NADIE
HAY QUE AGUANTAR
TE DAN CARRILLA Y NO TE DEJAN DE TIJEREAR
NO NECESITO DE REMOS PA´ NAVEGAR
VIVO MI VIDA SIN IMPORTARME EL QUE DIRAN
HABLADO:
QUE DOÑA CHANA LE DIJO A DOÑA CHONA
QUE EN LA TIENDA DE DON CHENCHO
ME VIO CON UNA CHACHA
QUE PARECE CHANGA
Y QUE SI NO ME PONGO TRUCHA
ME VA A LLEVAR LA
CHIFLENLA MEJOR COMPADRES.
DOÑA MECHE LE DIJOA DOÑA CLETA
QUE SOY UN GUENDAJON
QUE NO TENGO NI EN QUE CAERME MUERTO
BIEN AMOLADO ESTOY
MIS AMIGOS ME DICEN QUE ME CAMBIE
YA DE ESA VECINDAD
SI NO LO HAGO DE UN DIA
YA DE PLANO ME VAN A DIVORCIAR
QUE ESTO QUE LO OTRO CHISMES NOMAS
NUNCA LE DAS GUSTO A NADIE
HAY QUE AGUANTAR
TE DAN CARRILLA Y NO TE DEJAN DE TIJEREAR
NO NECESITO DE REMOS PA´ NAVEGAR
VIVO MI VIDA SIN IMPORTARME EL QUE DIRAN
VIVO MI VIDA SIN IMPORTARME EL QUE DIRAN
It’s basically about gossip, although I’m not really sure how to translate the title (something like this one or that one). A good time is had by all.
After the commercial, Ale’s home, and Jorge’s still trying to remember the Swiss bank account number. He does remember it has two 8’s. Rosario arrives, looking very happy about the way things are going with her Enrique (Quintana). Ale explains how she met with Daniel, and is wondering how he claims to own the hacienda, when they sold it to “Rubiales” (shrimp man). Jorge is still not hungry, unless as they have some more Swiss enchiladas.
The wah-wah guitars signal that it’s time for some sensuality. Claudia and Marco are undressing each other, he saying there’s nothing better than forbidden love, while she says she has no regrets about what they’re doing. Neither does he, as he buries his face in her twin peaks,
and we’re left to our imaginations as to whether they reach Mount Everest.
Jorge and Rosario are sitting at the dinner table, but he’s depressed again, no appetite. The bell rings, Rosario gets it, her eyes go wide, and I can’t believe it, but Rubi’s back! The long legs
are topped by her tight white nurses uniform, sumptuous boobs, and sparkling smile.
She rushes to her Georgie, who is so happy to see her he almost can’t contain his emotions. Rubi checks out his food (too salty, too cold), summons Azucena to get some new eggs, without salt, and hot, and by the way, freshen up the juice. Rubi goes to his bedroom to get his medicine, and Jorge’s eyes follow her butt like a puppy dog.
In fact he’s down on all fours, crawling after her! Even Azucena says this woman is like a miracle!
Uh, well, I’m not sure Azucena would really say that, and it turns out this whole thing was a dream! Jorge’s in bed, thinking how much he misses Rubi, and resolving to call her soon. He even remembers he has her number in his address book. And he’s going to go back to sleep, and keep dreaming of his dear Rubi.
It’s morning, and Ale arrives at work looking somber in shades. She seems to have made some sort of decision. She looks at Rafa, he looks at her, and a thousand emotions seem to cross her face, from love, to hope, to (possibly) resignation. He asks what they’re going to do. She replies that they can’t be selfish, they’re hurting a lot of people. They can’t keep trying to avoid their destiny. They have to break up. Forever. And just try to be happy anyway. Are you sure? he asks with a soft voice. Rafael, you know I adore you…..(he pulls his hand away,
stares at her, eyes brimming with emotion, and the episode ends).
But not to worry, it looks as if Monday, we’ll have fighting, loving, kissing, and bikinis!!!! Hope it’s not another dream!

Synopsis of "Eva Luna," upcoming on Univision
Do we have any willing volunteers to recap for this novela?

La Fea Más Bella #39-40 10/8/10 Wardrobe Dysfunction
Capitulo 39
1. The executives celebrate the news about the commercials. Lety worries that it’s still not enough to reach Fernando’s goals. With so many commercials, they decide to buy a 35mm camera, not rent.
2. The cuartel sets up Saimon to take Jazmín out, to get her away from Efren.
3. FI hires Erasmo as its accountant. Pop asks why Fernando set up FI. He speculates that a company would do that to shelter its capital from creditors.
4. Marcia is proud of Fernando, that he was willing to consider surrendering the presidency to Ariel, and that he’s stopped committing locuras.
5. Ali tells Ariel she wants to stop spying for him. No dice. Ali throws away her favorite dress because Marta wore a copy.
6. Fern and Lety work out Bella Life contract details with Ricky Armstrong.
7. Omar found a low-priced source for the 35mm camera. It’s in Panama, so Fern and Lety worry that it’s contraband. Lety STRONGLY objects because it’s too good to be true, but they ignore her objections. They tell everyone the vendor is in New York.
8. Alicia says her problem is self esteem because Fernando only lets her do simple tasks. She wants to be Marcia’s production assistant instead.
9. Luigi tells Fernando that the Queen of the Night fiesta is tonight. Fern tries to wriggle out, but Luigi says if you don’t do it, you can forget about the Bella Life contract.
Capitulo 40
Read Kim's original recap, starting at Section 22, “Saimon's excellent lunch hour.” That recap covers Caps 39 to 42. If you don’t want to read ahead, stop at Section 23. That marks the beginning of Cap 41. Then come back here to discuss it..
1. Saimon plans to take Jazmín to lunch. Lola gets Marta to anonymously tip off Efren, so he’ll see that Jaz cheats on him. Saimon takes Jaz somewhere else, so Lola’s plot fails.
2. Fernando will eat lunch at the office. Lety fantasizes that they have a romantic lunch together.
3. Lety tries yet again to dissuade Fernando from buying from Panama.
4. Marcia counsels Lola to stop being such a shrew, and prove herself the superior person in the situation.
5. Marcia tells Ali she has no dignity. Ali got paid, so Marcia asks Ali to repay her latest loan. Alicia is indignant – “You don’t need it; you’re rich!” Marcia says she doesn’t work hard so she can give away money to irresponsible friends.
6. The banker balks at giving Fernando a $2M loan for a foreign transaction. He wants a surety bond against the commercials (I think that’s in conflict with Lety’s Guarantee). Fernando refuses, so the banker settles for a blank promissory note.
7. Fernando goes to the studio where Luigi’s amigoítas are going to prepare him for the transvestite ball.

El Clon Thursday October 7: Summary for Discussion
La casa es un manicomio y mi papá se casa. (Our home is a madhouse and my father’s getting married). – Lucas
Operation Air Escape is proceeding apace:
Nazira and Samira try to contact Latifa in Fez for news about Mohamed. But the servants at Alí’s house are told to ignore the ringing phone. The conspirators -- Zoraida, Alí and Latifa -- are racing time to spirit the sleeping Mohamed out of the house before Abdul arrives. And they are right to hurry; for at that moment Abdul, Yaser and the would-be novia Zuleika are making their way to the house…
So Diana and Clara know each other, it seems. Diana is on Clara’s side (who wouldn’t be?) and has told her where Rogelio is having lunch today. Clara and Caro are going to the restaurant in the hopes of a casual meeting…
Enrique tells Lucas that he’s not referring him to another lawyer – he’s going to represent him himself. When Roberto joins them in Lucas’s office, Enrique says:
Quiero comunicarte que a partir de este momento, somos adversarios.
(I want to let you know that from this moment, we are on opposing sides.)
Not good news for Roberto.
Rogelio is seated alone, reading a French newspaper, when Clara and Caro spot him in the restaurant. Rats! Here comes Malicia and she’s kissing him! Caro tells her friend to stay cool and they take a table behind the couple. Malicia and Clara are positioned back to back but Caro and Rogelio can look right at each other. Rogelio is very aware of Clara– he can’t stop looking at her – even before Malicia says:
¿Te diste cuenta de quienes están detrás de nosotros?
(Did you notice who’s behind us?)
Whew! By the time Abdul, Yaser and Zuleika get to Alí’s house, the only trace left of Mohamed is the lingering scent of his panic. Zumaya explains that his doctor ordered the family to transport him home immediately. The increasingly cozy trio decide they will follow Mohamed to the Land of Haram. Oh dear.
Back in the restaurant, Clara seeks a moment’s refuge in the ladies’ room. But Malicia follows her and attacks: How’s Fernando? Is he still using drugs and getting in trouble? And Clara tells her:
Nos robaron, una trepadora de quinta que se obsesionó con el papá de Fernando y eso a él le afectó mucho – tú sabes, una de estas prostitutas que le gusta vivir de los demás.
(We were robbed by a low-life social climber who became obsessed with Fernando’s father; and that affected him a lot – you know, one of these prostitutes who like living off other people.)
Malicia pushes all of Clara’s buttons telling her she should go to Paris with a man like Rogelio -- he is so good in bed. And Clara fires back:
¡Usted es una trepadora, una zorra asquerosa, barata , inmunda!
(You are a social climber, a disgusting cheap whore, a filthy thing!)
And she slaps Malicia in the face as hard as she can. They stare at one another for a few seconds. Then Malicia slams her back. The battle escalates. The screams can be heard in the dining room. Caro and one of the waiters rush in to break up the fight.
Malicia runs back to Rogelio and tells him that Clara accused her of interfering with her reconciliation with Escobar and then attacked her for no reason. That doesn’t sound like Clara, says Rogelio.
Jade is standing outside the school waiting for Jadiya. Lucas comes up to her. She tells him to go away; she can’t risk being seen with him. He begs her to meet him at their apartment – after that, he promises, she won’t see him again. [Apparently no one has told Lucas that there are still 17 episodios left].
Jadiya comes out and Lucas slips away.
When Jade and Jadiya get back to Said’s house, Jadiya’s friends Aime and Jamil are waiting. Nice Rania smiles and says she invited them over. Jadiya thanks her sweetly and the kids go off together. Jade asks Mariam to pour her some tea. No, says Nasty Rania:
Yo no tengo que compartir el té contigo. Tú no eres esposa de Said.
(I don’t have to share tea with you. You’re not Said’s wife.)
When Jade threatens to tell Said how she is being treated, Rania tells her smugly that Said knows all about it and has agreed that she doesn’t have to share the table with Jade.
Jade retreats to her room, and throws herself on the bed. It’s all Lucas’s fault! Then she gets up again, puts on her veil and heads out the door.
We see Lucas waiting in the apartment.
When Said gets home, he asks after Jade and Jadiya. Jadiya is here, says Mariam, but Jade went out. The Naz joins him and delivers the Odaliscas Walking All Over You rant and needles him about bringing Jade back into the house and then treating her like a servant. He sings the Can’t Get Her Out of his Heart blues followed by a chorus of When she shows Real Remorse I’ll Marry her. The Naz rants the No Husband rant and threatens to resort to a temporary marriage.
Honestly, someone should put bells on those sisters. Rania slips in silently and sees that Said is back to his veil-fingering veil–sniffing ways. He’s at it again! she laments to Amina. And as usual, Amina tells her to pretend she doesn’t notice.
When Said asks Rania where Jade is, she says that she left without saying anything – just like she always does. She shouldn’t go out without asking my permission first, he says. When he leaves, Rania pouts:
Yo nunca salgo sin pedirte permiso antes.
(I never go out without asking your permission first).
[I guess the little jaunt to Fez doesn’t count.]
Who has suffered more?
Jade joins Lucas in the apartment. She’s not there to listen to him, she says, she’s there to tell him what she is suffering and how much she hates him. It is his fault she is living like a servant in Said’s house just to be close to her daughter. It is his fault that she lost Said and Zein. Every time she has a chance at happiness, he comes along, ruins things for her and then leaves again.
Lucas tells her how unhappy he is, how his life has been a series of losses. And now his daughter is killing herself. How can he abandon her? He accuses Jade of being captivated by the clone and trying to relive their love with him. But how could she not have feelings for a copy of him? she asks.
I’ve loved you my whole life, he says. You never had room for me in your life, she retorts. He takes her in his arms. She resists at first but then they kiss, the music swells… and his cell phone rings. It’s Marisa summoning him home for a new Natalia Crisis. She stole a car from Lucas’s collection (I assume we’re not talking Matchbox here) to get money for drugs. Some weird guy called the house… I’m on my way, says Lucas.
And we see the tears on Jade’s face as she walks away from the apartment.
¡Estás hecha un manojo de nervios! (You’re a bundle of nerves!) says Consuelo to Hilda in the hospital waiting room. Miss K is in labor.
Roberto is worried, but not about the sKanks. He tells Lucia that Enrique will be opposing counsel if Leo proceeds with his suit. Well Enrique is the one who should be worried, says his adoring wife. When the maid, Rosario, comes into the room, Lucia asks her why Consuelo didn’t come to work. She’s with her cousin Hilda – you remember, she was here to see you. Lucia doesn’t remember. Anyway, says Rosario, Hilda’s daughter is having her baby and Consuelo is with them.
And back in the maternity ward:
Between pushing and breathing and screaming, Karla tells the doctor her baby will be named “Roberto del Valle Junior”. Hilda and Consuelo watch through a window in the door and they are already counting their money. The only son of Roberto del Valle!
Lucas gets back to Casa Ferrer and Marisa gives him the scoop. Natalia stole his car and gave it to these guys. He has until 6pm to meet their demands. If not, they’ll strip (desvalijar) the car. And Natalia will pay them what she owes, one way or another.
Lucas grabs the address for the rendezvous and heads out alone. He is met by two scuzzballs including the scary drug guy who ‘kidnapped’ Natalia earlier. They want $5,000 for the car. Your daughter took my drugs and she owes me the money, says the scary drug guy. Lucas must think he has wandered onto the set of Caso Cerrado because he says he doesn’t have to give them anything. After all, the car doesn’t even belong to Natalia.
A debt is a debt, they say. And without even waiting for a verdict, they proceed to beat the snot out of him.
Enrique to therapist: I know I hurt a lot of people and I have no one to blame but myself. I’m the one who decided to start using drugs.
The Zombies formerly known as Natalia, Paula and Fernando and the professional thief they’ve hired are setting up the robbery of the Ferrer house. It should be next week when Natalia’s grandfather is on his honeymoon. And yes, she has the combination to his safe.
Alej is training but he is distracted. His boss gives him a talking-to and he regains his focus. No pierdas tu norte, muchacho! (Don’t lose your bearings, kid!)
I’m afraid it’s true. Pablo has been Maliciated. As he and Diana lounge by the pool he says he’s worried about Alejandro letting himself be deceived by Nati’s lies. He’s not the only one being taken for a ride, says Diana. She can’t believe he swallowed Malicia’s story about Paris. That woman can explain the inexplicable, says Diana. She should give classes in manipulation – she’d be a millionaire!
Natalia shows up at Gloria’s looking for Alej. Gloria shoos her away telling her she’s going to scare her customers. If I were your mother, she says, I’d smack you so hard I’d leave your bottom black and blue (te dejaría el trasero negro.)
Enrique to therapist: Drugs aren’t the illness. They are a symptom of the illness. And the illness is dependence.
A bloodied Lucas returns to Casa Ferrer.
And an ambulance delivers the sleeping Mohamed to his home in Miami. Zoraida and Alí exchange small, conspiratorial smiles but Latifa’s smile is joyful and open. The Naz is enraged that Latifa is happy when her brother is laid out on a stretcher. She is deaf to Alí’s reassurances that Mohamed is fine.
Jade is back at Said’s house. She tells him she can no longer tolerate living there on these terms. It was your choice, he says. I want to live with you and be loved by you like before, says Jade. I don’t want to make another mistake, he answers. Let me prove to you that I mean it, she begs. And as always Rania watches and listens. [Bells! The woman should be fitted with bells!]
Awww… Karla had a boy! She holds him and Consuelo snaps photos.
Cris is packing a few things to take with her to Casa Ferrer, including her white cat figurines. Vicki fears a clash of styles with the brujas. Cris isn’t concerned. She’s willing to teach them about decorating.
Dora arrives. Cris tells her the lawyer’s not there yet.
And at Empresas Ferrer, Enrique lets Leo know he’s going to be representing Lucas. Leo is fine with that.
Lucas limps in and says he managed to get the car back. Enrique tells them they need help to get through this ordeal with Natalia -- either individual therapy or a group. You’re right, agrees Lucas. Count me out, says Leo. I’m not the one with the drug problem. When Leo leaves, Lucas says ruefully:
La casa es un manicomio y mi papá se casa.
My home is a madhouse and my father’s getting married.
In the final scene, Said is sitting alone in a restaurant and Zein approaches him. He wants to know if Said is still in love with Jade.

Llena de Amor #44 Thu 10/7/10 Will the real Fedra Curiel please lie down?
Back at Casa de Crabby Emiliano wrings his hands about Fedra missing and Gretel assures them that her mother is perfectly fine.
Mari tells Netty she’s off to work because she needs the money and if she can’t pay her way she’ll leave the Pension. Netty’s not happy with the work arrangement as evidenced by the way she angrily rolls her Rs when pronouncing RRRRRuiz y de TeRRRRRResa.
At work Mari and Begoña position a TALL LADDER, sure hope someone doesn’t fall off! Eman and Kristel arrive just in time for Mari to topple said ladder and Eman to fling himself under Mari to break her fall. He groans under Mari and Kristel (who looks like she’s about to crack up) wails that Mari has squashed her brother.
As Netty complains to her amigas about Mari’s work our two policestuds arrive home after searching for Axel. They say someone fitting his description got pummeled at the Don Pepe Cantina. Brandon puts out an APB and tells them to search heaven and earth for the kid. He finds out his Mari is working for RRRRuiz y de TeRRRResa, grrrrrrrrr.
They discuss this with raised voices. The voices get louder. Brandon goes ballistic and Netty yells at him, freaking him out. Eman is her PRIMO, her P-R-I-M-O so stop acting so jealous!
Eman is still groaning under Mari and Kristel is still doing nothing. Eman finally turns over and caresses his cousin. Ilitia strides in and wonders what her baby is doing underneath the whale. The expected insults ensue with nothing new EXCEPT Mari tells them to shut it and warns them not one more insult. You go girl! Eman’s face in the background is priceless.
She tells them she’s nobody clown then she calls them hypocrites and lunges at them. Eman pulls her back. Mari tells them it’s time she told Eman what they did. (They look stricken, ha!) She says it’s time Eman finds out what sort of person his Ilitia is.
Delicia runs in to say there is an ambulance in front! (What, the ambulance takes her home and not to the hospital? Whatever.) The paramedic helps a nearly-comatose Fedra stagger in. She lays her head on Emiliano’s lap as the family discusses whether she should go to the hospital. As if to allay our concerns the paramedic reassures the family that she’s fine at home. Thanks for that.
Fedra weaves her web of faux woe and Monsieur Dumas (aka Emiliano the dumba**) believes her of course. She lies that she went to a costume party and Tia Carlota knew about it, remember the call from before? Oh right. Oh puhleeze! Fedra has bamboozled the family once again. She even has the nerve to ask Gretel if she wished her mother was dead. Gretel snaps back that the only thing she wants is her brother Axel.
Kristel challenges Mari to reveal her great secret.
Benigno brings Tio Maximo up to speed on the bruja upstairs. She’s even got Tia Carlota hoodwinked. Tio says the battle isn’t over, he has the element of surprise and his sister will know the real Fedra Curiel. (Words are cheap folks and I’m tired of hearing that empty threat.)
Mari back-pedals and says she’s just sick of those two always giving her a hard time! She storms through them and Ilitia thought bubbles that she hopes one day that bomb explodes and they’ll be free of her forever. Wow, she is really threatened. She tells Eman he is not to follow the fatty as usual; that stops now.
Gladiola tries to dissuade Netty from following her acting dream. What happened the other day was a sign. Nope, Netty’s fervor remains strong and she’s going back to the studio. Gladi’s babysitting and can’t go with so Doris volunteers to be Netty’s companion.
The two fresas continue to insult Mari in front of Eman, and when Kristel laughs that the fatty cried tears of grease Eman decides that’s enough. He calls security and demands that the two get tossed out on their collective tuches. We have the commercial in which to savor this lovely visual.
Yep, he made good on his threat and the two yelping harpies are being escorted out. He calls to his adoring reception staff (remember them?) and they hustle up to hear their instructions. See the faces of these elegant ladies? From this point forward they are never to be allowed back into the building. Kristel has a hissy fit and Eman explains that in this company it’s who CAN enter, not who WANTS to. Enter Brandon looking for his novia. Eman puts his face in his hands.
Mari tells Begoña that Kristel and Ilitia will learn to respect her. Jacqui enters and applauds the sentiment. She’s wearing an incredibly ugly yellow dress and she looks incredibly hot in it. I’m amazed. Jacqui wants to help Mari but our heroine defiantly announces she needs no assistance in her battle against the viper.
After Mari leaves, Jacqui tells Begoña that years ago her mother helped Muñeca fake a pregnancy to fool the whole world. It turns out that Ilitia is not the daughter of a Porta Lopez. Oh no, that heavy lump was only the daughter of a pregnant pauper. By Begoña’s reaction Jacqui figures out the Lowrenzo is the father of her baby.
Brandon and Eman compare ties but Eman has the final word. Brandon gets the boot along with the babes.
Outside he tells them he ought to let the law handle them for what they did to Marianela. Ilitia calls him a gorilla but Kristel gets all hot and bothered, starts to disrobe, and then cops a feel of the cop's chest as Ilitia drags her away. Brandon’s face is priceless.
Eman proudly tells Mari that her boyfriend was ejected from the agency. Mari gives him an “oh you bad boy” look.
Jacqui tells Begona she regrets not fighting for Emanuel. What’s Begoña going to do to ensure that Christian has a name and support? They high five their alliance against the Porta Lopez.
Doris, Netty and her big hat are back at Televisa. Netty pretends to be insulted that the receptionist doesn’t recognize her. Or maybe it's not pretend. She's such a good actress I can't tell.
Mari scolds Eman for ejecting her wonderful novio. Eman does a great imitation of Brandon, that crazy monkey, and Mari runs off to find her man.
Down in the lobby, Brandon and Eman play tug of war with Marianela. She decides to go with Brandon. Jacqui runs up with some major boobage peeking out of her robe and is highly amused at Mari scolding Eman and leaving with Brandon.
Looks like Doris and Netty got into the studio, but now what? They spot that same tall blonde actress and Netty picks an argument with her. They insult each other until Netty stalks off in a huff when accused of being an old has-been.
Lowrenzo’s in his office enjoying porn on his laptop when Begona butts in. She sits there smiling at his insults and tells him to go ahead but be careful because she’s going to destroy him. He actually looks taken aback.
The two harpies get home and Kristel is still fanning herself from her encounter with Brandon. Delicia breaks up the fresa-fest by telling Kristel her mom was attacked and almost killed.
Fedra proudly tells Spiderus how she provoked the attack. Kristel arrives and fawns all over Fedra, than tells her that Mari is working for the agency. QUE?!?!? Now Fedra really does have a headache.
Tia Carlota approaches Paula and tells her she can’t believe Paula still hates her after all these years. Of course it makes sense that these two have some history. Paula still holds a grudge that the family kept her from the only love of her life, her only crime being she was a humble servant. Carlota confirms that Maximo has never loved another woman. OK then.
Netty is discouraged until Doris spots the head of talent with the same snotty actress. He says sorry they aren’t hiring but she can leave her picture. Smack down.
Brandon is annoyed that Mari didn’t tell him about her work. Why did she hide it? He says it’s because her cousin doesn’t think of her as a cousin, but rather as a woman.
Fedra and Spiderus gripe about her idiot of a husband. Fedra’s getting crazier I swear. She's incredibly irritated that Emiliano hired La Ballena (the whale) into the busines. She spits out that after twenty years of working toward having Emanual get control of the business and the fortune she won't have it jeapordized now. She wants to get rid of Marianela forever. "I want her dead!"
Brandon tells Mari that Eman only has eyes for her. She says it’s because he’s protective like a cousin. Brandon says no, they are the eyes of a man for a woman, not a little girl. Emanuel is in love!
Mañana: Jacqui makes her move.

Dinero Thursday 10/7/2010 When Vivi's Away, We All Have To Play
* * * * *
Have you noticed that often the most exciting event comes at the very end? Like Milagros appearing at Ovidia's beauty salon for a makeover!? I can't wait. We've all been dying to see this ever since the drab little nun appeared on the scene.
Other events in chronological order:
@Milagros arrives at Auto Siglo looking for Ramirez and the other salespeople mischievously invite her to the hacienda party.
@Jorge brightens up after learning the hacienda is still "his" and chows down on enchiladas suizas. He also gets out of that dowdy gray robe and back into street clothes, except he's wearing his flaming red boxer shorts on the outside.
@Ovidia comes in to buy a car, looking smashing as usual. Marino tries to move in but Pepeto gets there first. Sells the car and Ovidia also gets invited to the hacienda party. Ramirez is so entranced by her assets, when introduced he says "mucho busto" instead of "musto gusto".
@A bedraggled Leonor is finally released from jail. She looks happy to see her family and Jaime. But very puzzled to see Vicky.
@Quintana finally gets over to the apartment and is miffed and mucho jealous that the Shrimp helped them move. Rosario loves the reaction. He invites her out to dance that night.
@Trapito tells the hospitality girls about the party and invites them as well. Suggests they come in "Eve's outfit" but finally concedes that they can wear bikinis.
@Carmela arrives to buy a new car, sweeping past a smitten Trapito who lowers his voice and comes on strong, to no avail.
@Celebration meal at Leonor's house. Vicky's the cook and the custodian...of Rafa. Her antenna goes up when Marian calls. She somehow knows this is "una clienta" instead of "un cliente".
@Daniel calls Chavez and tells him he wants him to remain as administrator of the hacienda. Chavez is stoked that he's put one over on Marco and still has his job.
@All of Carmela's menfolk washouts have fled for cover. She wants no part of Ramirez or Trapito so Alejandra fixes her up with Claudia. After comparing bustlines, they decide they're soul-mates. They dish about men and seal the deal for a new car. Delivery tomorrow. Ale tries to find out who bought the hacienda but Carmela says she can't remember. Maybe later. Hmmm.
@Rafa meets Marian, ostensibly to talk about closing the truck deal tomorrow. Suddenly Vicky arrives, claims her territory, gets Marian's back up and alarms Rafita. Vicky reminds him that if things don't work out, Very Bad Things Will Happen To His Mama.
@Back at the house, Julieta appears to be kissing off Jaime. Tells him she's ready to move on. He's upset.
@Doña Arcadia wants to see Dandy and Pepeto. We don't know why, but with her hidden cameras, she probably wants to know why Pepeto was under a car and Dandy was cowering under Susana's desk, hiding from the Maneater.
@Milagros appears at Ovidia's for a makeover. Lots of snotty comments from the two guys who promise to pray to San Juditas Tadeo, the Patron of Lost Causes. Ovidia is sure she can smarten up Milagros' look.
@Vicky's got Rafa in her clutches. He's tell her it won't work. She's saying it will if they can just be alone together. Like in a hotel. Then she grabs him and forces a lot of kisses on him.
And that's it folks. Lots of fun stuff and promise of more to come once the hacienda party gets underway. Who knows, maybe someone will even invite Carmela. That should heat things up!

La Fea Más Bella #37-38 10/7/10 Commercial success.
Capitulo 37
1. Fernando accuses Lety of having someone else working for FI, but Lety dodges.
2. Marcia feels bad for Lola, but Alicia thinks she deserves it. Ali says that in that case Paula should be fired for taking Ali’s novio. Marcia later warns Paula that the next time she messes with an executive, she’s canned.
3. Various scenes with Jazmín. I’ll ignore almost all Jazmín scenes and most scenes with the cuartel alone. Note that Paula pays more attention to Saimon when Saimon takes an interest in Jazmín.
4. Alicia complains to Marcia about Omar, and Marcia says, “I told you so.” Ali says Lety acted like the owner and president of the company while she and the boys were away.
5. Fernando asks Lety how FI can have so much money, and why she always refers to FI as “we.” She admits she hired Tomás to invest the capital, but she flatly denies that he knows anything about the Guarantee, or that FI might lien Conceptos.
6. Tom tells Lety that the capital was Fernando’s but the growth is thanks to their work. Lety shows Tom the Guarantee. He says she’s cheating the bank. Lety says it’s legal, and she isn’t about to abandon Fernando.
7. Marcia asks Fernando, “What if I told Ariel that Conceptos has no work?” Fernando sounds like he’s joking, but he’s not. (Although they get the giggles.) He says, “I’d cancel the wedding. Did you expect me to say that your love is all that matters? No. You help me at work, and I do you the favor of marrying you.” She promises her support, as long is he doesn’t do anything crazy.
8. Luigi tells Alicia that Conceptos has no work, and Alicia tells Ariel. He thinks this time he’ll get the presidency from Fernando for sure.
Capitulo 38
Read Kim's original recap. Note, that recap covers Caps 36B – 38. Cap 38 starts at the section, “Missing Recap 19: Ariel spreads his sunshine.” Read to the end of the recap.
1. Luigi presents the commercials, and the clients love them. Ariel demands to know how many projects Conceptos has lined up.
2. Ariel demands the reports from Lety. See transcript. Lety mops the floor with Ariel.
3. Marta wears a cheap knock-off of Alicia’s designer dress to torment her. The executives get a good laugh at Alicia’s expense.
4. Juana reads Lety’s future from her seashells. I posted a rough transcript as a response to Kim’s recap back in 2007; you can read it there.
5. Lety fantasizes that it’s her wedding with Fernando.
6. Several days later, they still haven’t heard from any clients in response to the bodywash commercial. Fernando tells Marcia to call a committee meeting. He’s ready to turn the presidency over to Ariel. Alicia informs them that Bella Life (BL) wants them to produce their international commercials.
7. In the meeting with Ricky Armstrong, Luigi says the BL contract will be for 11.8 million DOLLARS.
Spanish Lesson. Ariel vs. Lety.
A: I need the last financial report. Why are you looking at me that way? If you say you don’t have it, that would be hard to believe since I know you have all the information for the company.
L: Did you ask Fernando’s permission?
A: Me? Ask permission from Fernando? Tell me something. Do you forget that I’m a stockholder and member of the committee? And that I have the right to review the status of the money I have invested in this company?
L: No, I don’t forget that. But neither do I forget the orders Don Fernando gave me. If he does not authorize me, I cannot give you that information.
A: Fine. My orders carry as much weight, or more, than Fernando’s orders. As a member of the committee, I demand the report.
L: In that case, would you permit me to call Don Fernando for permission?
A: Are you not recognizing my authority?
L: No, but neither can I un-recognizing the authority of Don Fernando, president of the company and my immediate supervisor.
A: Fine. then don’t give me the report. Simply give me a quick sketch of the income and expenditures from the past month. You’re the processor of the information. Go ahead. I’m listening.
L: In this case I’m the withholder of the information. They hired a woman, not a processor.
A: Fine. Sit down. I know that since you’re hiding so many things, it means the company is losing a lot of money. You and I know very well that Fernando cannot afford that luxury. Because he will not reach his goal, and he will hand the presidency over to me. You know that very well, right? And I imagine you want to work here well into the future, verdad?
L: Yes, sir.
A: In that case, decide whose side you’re on. When I’m president, I’ll need someone with your skills. You can be on my team. Lety (puts his claw on her shoulder), assure your future. Give me the report.
Lety stands, and transforms into Super Lety. Don Ariel, with all due respect, I am certain DF will accomplish his goals.
A: You are sadly mistaken. You’re not as smart as I thought. You have more optimism than brains.
L: I have more loyalty than brains, Tutz.
A: You’re willing to be ruined with Fernando. Because when he fails, you will be thrown out of here in disgrace. And neither I nor anyone else here will give you job references. Your loyalty can kill you.
L: If things turn out that way, I’ll accept the consequences. DF didn’t hire me to safeguard my position in this company, but to serve him. And that’s what I promised to do.
A: Do you have a boyfriend? (no) That’s why you don’t know anything about loyalty, much less faithfulness.
