Una Familia Con Suerte #4 Fri 10/7/11 "No" means "no for now"
Tomás drops Betty off at a street corner and gives her enough money for bus fare and a "paletita," which is a Popsicle or similar treat on a stick. This is intended to make her feel better about him kicking her out of his car instead of having the courtesy to take her home after fooling around with her, but she's clearly offended.
Tomás then joins Pepe outside the club, where their friend the doorman lets them in, to the dismay of other waiting patrons. (I hear murmurs of "naco," so I guess we're going to be hearing that word an awful lot in the coming months.)
By the way, I just read that in Mexico, this TN began in February and is still running. That means it's a hit. So we've got at least eight months ahead of us. Does anyone think we have eight months' worth of story here yet?
Lupita and her friend Elena are at what appears to be a cybercafe. An IM comes up on Lupita's screen from one "Rey de Copas" (King of Cups).
At first I thought "King of Cups" meant "King of Boozy Drinks," but then I remembered that it's also a tarot card. Here is what Wikipedia has to say about the King of Cups:
The personality of the King of Cups is a combination of the positive nurturing energy of water of the Cups suit and the active, outward focus of a King. The king of cups can be a wonderful guide and mentor as he is usually a giver of unselfish aid, albeit one who is easily angered. He cares about others sincerely and always responds to their needs with compassion. He heals with a gentle touch and a quiet word. He is usually tolerant of all points of view and shows patience in the most trying of circumstances.
The king of cups believes in using diplomacy rather than force, but can be tiresomely devious if you cross him, as he is usually big on emotionality. The king of cups almost always represents a good mentor for a querent who is actively involved in the creative arts.
Lupita wants to know his real name (he can see her name). He ignores this and asks how old she is (16). He says he's 20 and asks what she's like. "Normal," she replies.
We can see from his face that he finds her answer amusing. Oh, right, almost forgot to mention - the King of Cups is Freddy. He's sitting alone at a table, and of all the things one can do in a nightclub, he's texting away on his Blackberry with a 16-year old stranger! Anyway, what he meant was, is she guapa (cute/hot)? She ignores this question and asks why he doesn't give his real name. He insists on meeting her tomorrow.
At the club, Alex comes back with a drink and questions why Freddy is chatting with some girl when he just said he's going to marry Mónica.
Lupita is not happy with herself for chatting with this guy when she has a boyfriend, and wonders if he might be a serial killer, but then Elena approaches and Lupita hurriedly shuts down the IM client. This disappoints Elena, who was hoping to chat with the King of Cups. Now maybe he'll be mad and he won't want to chat with her.
At the club, Pepe and Tomás run into Mónica and her friend Karina. Mo makes so many nasty remarks about them, especially Pepe, that I am momentarily confused by the amount of attention she's giving him - until I realize that she must be attracted to him! Pepe must have the same idea, because he says, "I'll show you what a naco I am" and grabs her and kisses her.
For a long time. And she doesn't try to get away.
Meanwhile, Pancho tosses and turns in his bed as he tries to sleep. Fernanda's offer is echoing in his head. As he stares vacantly into the darkness, her giant, glowing, disembodied face smiles down at him. This scares him, and he falls out of bed. He wanders into the kitchen, where Chela is clearing the table. (Pancho must go to bed VERY early!) She says he must have a lot on his mind. He asks if she's wondering what Fernanda's offer was. She says no, but he tells her anyway.
Pepe is still kissing Mónica. She finally pulls away and takes a token swing at him, which he easily blocks. Freddy and Alex see Mo talking to Pepe, but seem to have missed the kiss.
Chela is skeptical about Fernanda's offer and speculates that the woman must be losing her mind. The fact that she's alone in the world only makes Chela doubt her more.
Pepe is teasing Mónica, saying she must have really liked the kiss, and she insists that it was like drinking burning motor oil. Freddy comes along with Alex and wants to know why Pepe's talking to his girlfriend. Pepe says he just came to get the money Freddy owes him (from the race). Freddy starts to propose that they have another race, then adds, "but of course - you probably need the money for your bus fare. Here it is, loser!" He tosses some bills at Pepe, who tries to attack him, and Tomás pulls him away. Alex proposes a second race, double-or-nothing. Pepe and Tomás agree, and leave the club.
Mónica complains profusely about them to Freddy and makes him smell her arm, which she claims now smells like grapes from being around those guys. Freddy notes no smell and hauls her off for a purifying dance. Karina squeals happily to herself that Freddy didn't see the kiss; Alex misses this comment and asks her to dance, too.
Mónica comes home to find her father, the Evil Rinaldi, looking through the family photo album. She apologizes for staying out late - "sorry," she says in English, which to me seems less sincere than saying it in her own language. He asks how things are going with Freddy. She says everything's fine, and she knows it's what Daddy wants, but she really thinks she's too young to get married. "But you love him, right?" Yeah, sure, she says, and she'd love to talk more... tomorrow. She goes to bed. Evil R. seems disappointed.
Next morning, Fernanda tells Celeste, the front desk receptionist, that she's expecting a visit from Pancho Lopez. Celeste remembers him from yesterday with some dismay.
Also dismayed is Rebeca, who is enduring cheesy remarks from Vicente in the elevator about how they were destined to be meet in an elevator and she looks just as good as ever, after all this time. She replies, "some people never change, like you for example." He then says she looks even BETTER than before and asks if she's here to see Fernanda. "I have no interest in seeing anyone else at this company," she tells him. The elevator stops to let someone else on, and she disembarks, telling Vince she'll take the stairs the rest of the way!
The stairs must be really fast, because now she's in Fernanda's office, saying how she's always running into Vince. (I see a can of those damned green pencils on Fernanda's desk. Points up. Seriously, who keeps a cup of pencils and no pens on their desk? It's silly.)
Rebeca asks if her new duties will be same as they were before. Fer says no; her job will be to convince Pancho to become the new president of Avon, and not a word to anyone else!
"Not a word to anyone," Pancho warns Chela. She's worried that he's going to change his mind and say yes to Fernanda, but he assures her that no means no. Lupita comes in and wants to know what they're talking about. Pancho thanks Chela for always being by his side and tells her to seal her lips (pico, beak) with wax. He leaves, and Lupita is even more curious.
Fernanda tells Rebeca that she knows exactly what Pancho will do. He's going to tell his SIL about this, and then his frend Chacho. His friend will make him doubt, and then Pancho will come here. He's probably talking to Chela right now.
Rebeca thinks it's a bit much for Fernanda to give the job to someone she met. "Probably," Fernanda admits, but she wants them to prepare just the same. Rebeca predicts that Vince will have a heart attack when he hears that a vegetable vendor is going to be his new boss.
Chela is watching some kids play when Ana scolds her for not getting her out of bed sooner. Chela admits to having something on her mind. Ana promises to keep her lip zipped. "Remember that woman who came over and ate the mole?"
Soon after Chela's beak-wax failure, Ana's zipper splits. She whispers the big secret to Lupita, who tells Tomás "my father is going to be President." Tom tells Pepe; Pepe tells Candy; Candy tells Chela that Pancho is going to be President of the United States and live in the White House. (You have no idea how many political jokes I'm stifling right now.) "The telephone is out of order," Chela quips.
Pancho is praying to a public statue of la Virgencita for guidance. (Another man shuffles up and tells Virgencita how he doesn't even have enough for a sandwich. Pancho immediately gives him sandwich money to go away and not distract him. The man praises Virgencita - giving no thanks to Pancho - and takes off.) He prays for her to take care of lonely Fernanda, and for help to keep him and his family for ending up in the street. Chacho says it's time to start work; Pancho says he prayed for Fernanda not to die alone.
Candy is still having a hard time wrapping her mind around the telephone joke. Chela explains the real situation. She's worried because money changes people.
Later, at the vegetable stand, a third man (Nico) is telling Chacho and Pancho that maybe God sent Fernanda to help with their mortgage problem. (Univision blanks out the sound for a moment, but we don't have to wonder what we missed, because now they're all fanning the air and complaining of an extremely bad smell.) Pancho is more worried about poor Fernanda dying alone. Then Nico says maybe it's not the Old Man who sent the Old Lady; maybe his Old Lady sent him the Old Lady! Pancho flashes back to asking Laurita to be his wife and the mistress of his wages. "I hadn't thought of that," he admits.
The whole family (and more) wants to discuss the big news with Pancho when he gets home. Candy and Ana want him to take the job. Candy wants free cellulite cream, and Ana wants new instruments for her band. Chela still hates the idea. Pepe suggests they just go and talk to Fernanda - Tomás is hoping they'll get new cars in the deal. Pancho says no, no, no, no, I'm not going.
He's still saying that in the van with Pepe and Tomás, but now he's in the main lobby at Avon and Celeste is taking him to the elevator. He asks P and T not to break anything.
Monica comes into the lobby, telling Karina on the phone how gross "he" was and how he smelled of motor oil and sulfur and asphalt. Pepe takes the phone out of her hand and tells Kari who he is and how much Mo enjoyed the kiss.
In Fernanda's office, Pancho admits he's never been in such a place and he's afraid to move or breathe for fear of breaking something. She assures him that everything is replaceable. As for her offer, the answer is no. She says it's ironic that when one only wants to help someone, they won't let her.
She says he doesn't trust his own shadow. He questions her motives. Maybe she's having fun at his expense. She says she has other things to do today, so she'll send someone to talk to him and then he can decide.
In the lobby, Mónica questions why Pepe is there and why she seems to run into him everywhere. Pepe says he's here with his father, future president of this joint. She scoffs. Mo brags that her father is the director of the ONU. (I don't know what that is, but Pepe does.) She says he'd have to be taller to more naco. She's sick of hearing about his delusions and she has to go back to work. He reminds her what happened last time she called him "naco." She says it was her worst nightmare. He gives her his phone number and invites her to the festival. Of course she's not interested in either. She says "sorry" and says there are some kinds of "music" that he'll never hear. She takes his phone number and says she'll throw it away in her office because she doesn't like to leave trash in the lobby.
Now Rebeca is in Fernanda's office, again expressing doubts about allowing that guy to be president. Fernanda says he's a man of integrity, plus she (Rebeca) will be behind him all the way. Rebeca allows that she might be able to guide him and give him some advice, but how is she going to control a man who's uncontrollable?
Fernanda smirks knowingly.
Rebeca doesn't want to go to Pancho's house. Their previous meeting wasn't very good. Pancho isn't used to "women like us." Fer says Rebeca can be Pancho's Pygmalion. She admits that she's doing this to teach Vince the best lesson of his life. No, she insists, it's not just a whim. It might give Vince a little humanity, and she wants to give Pancho the chance he needs to get ahead. He's a fighter, an optimist, a hard worker. He just needs a chance to show it.
Rebeca doesn't think they'll be able to convince him. Fer says the two of them will be able to do it. No - make that three, she says, picking up the phone.
Pancho finally shows up in the lobby with a roll of toilet paper and a newspaper, so I guess we know where he's been. He leaves them with Celeste. He says some things I don't understand, in addition to telling Pepe and Tomás that he said no and Fernanda didn't want to accept his answer and is going to send someone else to talk to him. He says goodbye to Celeste, but calls her Relámpago (Lightning). (Earlier, he called her "Eclipse." He has some trouble with names.)
Pancho gets home and finds Lupita looking worried. She's found the letter from the Evil Rinaldi saying they need to pay up in two days. He assures her that the festival will bring in the money they need. As for Fernanda, he said "no for now." She's surprised and thinks it should be a firm no. In her opinion, rich people aren't trustworthy.
Rebeca gets on the elevator and is freshly dismayed to find Vince on it. (How much do you want to bet that he's been riding up and down on that thing for an hour waiting for her?) "I asume that my aunt offered you a new job." He flatters her some more. There's an interruption in my recording (actually, recordings on two different devices, so a Comcast or Univision problem), but I think he says something about leaving the past in the past and adds, "it's not that I'm in a hurry for my aunt to leave, but I really am dying to be at your side." (Does he know about the cancer, or is he only anticipating her retirement? Either way, what a jerk.) She gets out of the elevator at the next stop. I think he tries to follow her, but the doors close in his face!
Pancho lights a candle at home and tells Laurita's photo that he wishes she were there to help him think. All his problems would disappear if he could see her. He says he'll do what he's going to do for the kids. He's not going to let the Evil Rinaldi put them out on the street!
At the cybercafe, Elena is frustrated that she can't chat with the King of Cups. She thinks Lupita offended him by shutting down the session without any warning. Lupita sits down and a notification pops up to say the King of Cups has arrived. He asks why she disconnected the other day. Elena sees who it is and kicks Lupita out so she can chat with him. He's asking Lupita for a meeting. Elena is surprised that he is making overtures to Lupita and gives her a disbelieving, possibly jealous, look.
Vince is in his office, practicing what it will be like when he's president. An imaginary headwaiter, played by Vince, is offering him the best table in the restaurant, when a very swishy man named Arnaldo interrupts, having just returned from Paris. He is fiddling with Vince's tie when Pina walks in on them, pushes Arnaldo aside jealously and shrieks, "Vicente Irabién, wasn't it enough having betrayed me with Rebeca? Pig!"
Ahh, so that's why Rebecky can't stand him!
The Evil Rinaldi arrives in Fernanda's office in response to her summons. She asks him about the mortgage. He says he takes on debts that the banks consider unpayable. She says she knows he profits from other people's need. He explains that when he's able to seize that property, he has a client who wants to buy it and build a commercial center... but until then, he's always threatening the owners with eviction and through some magic, they always manage to come up with the money.
"I need you to speed up the process."
"What?"
"I want you to evict them!"
Next time:
The family prepares for the festival.
Rebeca visits the Lopez home. "We're going to be together all the time," she tells Pancho.
Fernanda tells the Evil Rinaldi to seize the Lopez property as soon as possible.

Cuando Me Enamoro #121 Friday 10/7/11 Regina Plays the Fool and Roberta is the Tool.
Rehashing from last night, silly sheep Regina plays right into wolverine Fina's hands. The DNA test has proved that Roberta is Regina's long-lost daughter. Regi weeps about what a miracle it is and how she can't wait to give Berta all the love she was never able to while Berta was growing up. Regi hopes Berta will accept her. Gonzo and Jero have dual shoulders for her to cry on.
Padre plays sick (poorly) to avoid having to tell Karina the truth.
Once Regi has closed the floodgates, Jero says he would have guessed that Renata was Regi's daughter. The two of them are very similar in appearance and behavior. Regi is convinced that Berta is her baby but she still thinks of Nata as a second daughter. Gonzo says that, while Berta is the daughter of the woman he loves, Nata will always have a place in his heart as his daughter. Jero has a hard time accepting that Fina was so cruel to her own daughter but chalks it up to Fina being a despicable person.
Suddenly we're on a trip to Goofy Town when Fina knocks out a gardener with a shovel and steals his clothes. I'm not sure what's funnier: how Fina looks dressed as a hillbilly or the fact that she fits into that guy's overalls. LOL.
Gonzo encourages Regina to tell Nata and Berta the truth as soon as possible. Regi worries about upsetting Berta because of her heart but Gonzo offers to have the cardiologist check up on her first. Jero is more worried about how Nata will react.
Regina fidgets with her "R" necklace and a lightbulb goes off over Gonzo's head. When he married Fina, one of her daughters had an "R" necklace and Gonzo insisted on having an exact replica made for the other so that Berta and Nata would both have them. Gonzo remarks on how many clues were right under their noses and wonders if Fina was using the "R" necklaces to purposefully throw them off. Regardless of the necklaces, Regi is positive about Berta.
After the commercials, Berta and Nata accompany Gonzo and Regina at Regi's place. Nata asks about Doña Cata and Regi informs her that Cata passed away. Gonzo cryptically tells Berta that there is something important she needs to know.
Regina explains her past to Berta and Nata. Nata listens with rapt attention while Berta seems bored. (I'll try to give the abridged version since we already know this stuff a dozen times over). Regi's husband Roberto had a pregnant girlfriend the same time that Regina was pregnant. Both babies were born on the same day in the same hospital. The other woman kidnapped Regi's one-year-old baby. For years, Regi looked for her daughter and the kidnapper. Now Regina found out the truth; Fina was the kidnapper and Regi's daughter is either Berta or Nata.
Nata jumps to her feet in surprise and Berta breathes shallowly. Gonzo explains that Roberto left his fortune to Regina's daughter and not Fina's. When Fina found out, she kidnapped Regi's baby in hopes of getting the inheritance in the future. Then Roberto died in an accident that Fina provoked. Berta grips her chest and Nata starts to cry as they both digest the news that Fina caused their father's death.
Jero paces in his apartment and worries about how Nata is going to take the bad news. He just wants to be by her side to hug and console her. Jero writes her a quick text. "I love you and who you are no matter what."
Regina explains that Fina herself told Regi the truth because Berta and Nata have almost reached the age stipulated in the inheritance. Fina pressed Regina for money in exchange for the truth, money which Jero generously loaned Regina. Nata is unsettled that Jero already knows all of this groundbreaking information. She asks for more information about Roberto and Regi assures her that Roberto was a decent man who made a grave mistake.
Regina admits that she knows which of them is her daughter because of the DNA test she had done on the toothbrushes Fina gave her. Regi also admits she took Berta's hairbrush out of her purse for even more proof. Berta and Nata hold hands as they read the DNA test results. "It's Roberta." Nata cries.
Señora Clampett sneaks into the Monterrubio Mansion. She pilfers through Berta's old room and abuses the maid. Fina grabs her by the neck but she swears she doesn't know why Berta has her suitcases packed. Fina threatens to kill the poor girl's mother if she does not find out.
Berta grips her chest some more and is speechless at the news. She swears that Nata will always be her sister despite this news. Nata is happy that Berta has the piece of mind that she is the daughter of a good woman and not a murderer. Knowing the truth about this herself, Berta looks away with a sullen expression. And has apparently decided to follow through with Mami's plans despite her being a boyfriend killer. Now what do we think of her redemption odds?
Regina assures Nata she still wants to be close to her. Nata thanks Regi for her kindness but she can't help but feel like her world is falling apart. Regi hopes that her relationship with both girls will grow over time. Gonzo says that, along with Matias, they are going to form a new family.
Fina seethes over having such little information about Berta. They have to stay in contact for her plan to work. The maid reports to Fina that Berta's suitcase is being sent to Regina's house. Fina thanks her for the information by punching her lights out.
Regina leaves to have a private moment with Berta. Left alone with Gonzo, Nata crumbles into a heap of sobs. "Why, Papá? I don't understand why she hates me so much when I am her daughter. I would have loved to be Regina's daughter. To be the daughter she looked for and then found and loved unconditionally." Gonzo holds Nata tight. He loves her. She is his daughter and always will be. (Viewerville, raise your hands if you teared up during this scene. I'm not too proud to admit I cried. Sylvia Navarro is brilliant at crying. Her sobs are heart-wrenching.)
On to something less depressing, Adriana and Matias plan to take a trip together soon. (Who knew that Matias would ever be the least melancholy thing about an episode.) He asks if she talked to Chema yet and surprisingly doesn't throw a fit or knock over any chairs when Adri promises she will later that night. Except probably not since Chema just had a serious attack while strolling on the sidewalk.
Constanza is finally getting the speech and physical therapy we hoped she would have had last week. Connie's making great progress and she and Honorio plan to renew their wedding vows once she fully recovers.
Detective Whose Name I Keep Forgetting grills the manicomo doctor for letting Blanca have access to a phone. Once he leaves, Doc has Blanca brought into the office to chew her out for it. He refuses to put his work in jeopardy for her. She throws herself at him and calls him Honorio. Two orderlies have to carry her off. And now I have to go take a shower because that made me feel incredibly icky.
Gonzo and Regina get some fresh air. Regi wants to help both Berta and Nata heal so they can move on together as a family.
Karina stops by the hacienda kitchen to get her things so she can move in with Alfonsina. Matilde swears to Kari that Lazaro was not unfaithful. They need to talk and resolve things. Kari agrees to return later that night to speak to Laz.
Nata lies on her bed and wonders why Fina hates her so much. The text from Jero interrupts her thoughts. She asks to meet him at La Mentirosa because she needs him. We end with a shot of Nata curled up in misery. Qué bummer.
Avances: There's light at the end of the tunnel next week! Nata and Jero make-up and make-out and Agustin juts his jaw in anger. On the bad news front, I saw Chema pass out in one of the quicker clips.

La Fuerza del Destino #44 Thu 10/06/11 La Fuerza de Camilo's pheromones, Curiel family dysfunction, and Ivan's hormones
Alex calls Lucia. He tells her he went to fútbol earlier, but most of the other guys are on vacation. He asks if she'll take him to see Bruno tomorrow. Lucia agrees, as long as Toni and Gerry give permission. Alex is surprised to hear that Ivan has a dad. Lucia asks Alex to have Gerry call when he gets home. Carlota is amused that Bruno, of all people, is helping resolve the problem. Lucia warns that she still has to get Ivan's permission, but Carlota scoffs at that.
Ivan is getting cabin fever already. Camilo offers to be his driver and they joke about it. Ivan takes a call from Lucia, much to Camilo's dismay.
Alex attempts to interrogate Gerry. "You still haven't answered me. Can a grandpa also be a dad?" Gerry avoids the question by giving his permission to go see Bruno tomorrow and sends Alex off to wash his hands. Once Alex is gone, Gerry calls Lucia. She is always being interrupted in the middle of her evening workout, which bothers me. For one, she always claims it's not an interruption. Why? Because her physical conditioning isn't as important as other people's need to unload on her? Screw that! The other thing that gets me is, how does she ever get to sleep after those workouts? I can't believe she's saying she was just thinking about calling him…um, yeah, cause I always get inspired to call people while I'm doing crunches. Anyway, Gerry is on board with Alex and Bruno having a playdate, and he'll bring Alex over to Lucia's. He says "they" have to make a decision: "He overheard me saying that I'm his grandfather and now he won't let it drop!" Um, no, dude, you need to locate your balls is what you need to do. Lucia says it's time to tell the truth, but Gerry doesn't know how. Yeah, I could see how you might have forgotten how after all these years. Spineless.
Over at The 9 Ball, Antolín hassles Camilo for appearing to drown his sorrows. Antolín invites him to a mellow dance club, where maybe he'll met some hotties…but he needs to change clothes first. Camilo's not in the mood, so Antolín says they need to talk…about the Curiel family.
They walk into said dance club, presumably later, and order beers while that damn annoying generic "sexy, sexy smile" song that's been playing on every TN for at least the last year plays. Antolín tries to play it like he was just kidding about wanting to talk about the Curiel family. Camilo doesn't buy it, but Antolín changes the subject, asking how the ranch is going.
Over on a couch, Maripaz is listening to an allegedly funny story about some stupid rich guy "losing" 13 thousand pesos in a dirty "chamarra" (jacket). She gets up mid-convo.
The waiter arrives with beers for the guys as Camilo goes on about the water he's sure is on his land. Antolín encourages him to get a woman, now that he's got land and money, but Camilo says he doesn't have the time or the desire. On cue, Maripaz saunters up and Antolín leaves Camilo alone with him. That is NOT brotherly behavior, dude. What happened to "Nobody messes with my family?" Maripaz asks for Camilo's cell number so she can invite him for the next party, and the dumbass gives it to her. He lets her know that he's not one for parties. Maripaz insists that especially now that he's so busy, he needs to cut loose sometimes. She orders a double whisky on the rocks and Camilo looks worried. Maripaz moves right on to "Do you have a girlfriend?" and "Hey, how come you're out of jail already?" She tries to invite him back to her place, but he weasels out of it. She kisses him rather forcefully on the mouth before he can leave. Eewwwww! Gross!
The next morning….
Camilo is out on Lucrezia's ranch talking to the guys who are going to do the drilling. Lucrezia drives up, wearing a purple, lacy top. Cougar. Camilo tells her the engineer is sure there's water on his land. He says he also checked on her crops, did a little watering, and the corn is doing well. He's also not out of cash yet and says he'll show her the accounts. Lucrezia's not in a hurry, having heard good things about him. She asks him to show her where he's planning to drill the well. Did that sound dirty? Cause really, I didn't mean it that way. Lucrezia, on the other hand….
Alex and Bruno play outside on the patio, while Ivan watches from the house, like a stalker. Toni comes out and calls for Bruno. Lucia explains that he's Ivan's dad. Toni comes over to say hello to Lucia and meet Alex…he offers them a cold drink and tells Benito to feed Bruno. Toni tells them they're always welcome. Ivan skulks in the office, listening to them come into the house. Toni goes into the office. He thinks Bruno will be a great ally. He wants Ivan to stay in the office while he tempts Alex with the brochure for the vacation spot Ivan had picked.
Lucrezia wishes Camilo luck and apologizes for her previous rudeness. She invites him to the house for coffee and a chat…about the plans for the ranch. Camilo politely opens the car door for her and Lucrezia drives off. Maripaz calls him just then and attempts to stick her tongue in his ear via cell phone (and trust me, if anyone could accomplish that, it would be her!) but Camilo seems a little squicked out. She wheedles him into accepting an invitation at 6 tomorrow. He agrees, hangs up, and then says "OK, I get the daughter throwing herself at me, but her mom too?!" He laughs it off.
Alex is impressed with the aquarium brochure. Toni lays it on thick, with the dolphin tank where you can swim with the dolphins. Oh, but to get there, you have to take a yacht. "Wow! I've never been on a yacht before!" "Oh, you've gotta do it!" Alex's birthday isn't for six months, but Toni says that they'll give him an early present and Carlota and Lucia will go also and that way Alex won't be missing any school for his birthday trip. Lucia tempts him with being able to tell all his friends about his badass vacation. Alex is really amped up about the dolphins. Ivan is, once again, eavesdropping like a stalker. Alex asks if Ivan is coming. "No. His foot isn't getting better, and he's got a lot of work to do here." Toni sends Lucia to get more brochures from his office. She runs into Ivan in the hallway and comforts him. "He'll never accept me, Lucia. Never!" Oh, great, we've got Whiny!Ivan who's ready to give up. "Oh, Lucia, what would I do without you?" No worries, bro, Lucia's obviously into whiny guys.
Saul visits David at the Ag Association office. David summoned him because there are some things that aren't adding up. "Why did you take a million pesos from the Association account without presenting a receipt?" Saul claims it was to pay Cuthbero for the crop that the McGuires burned. "Oh, really? Because he just called me 15 minutes ago, asking when we were going to pay him." David had to postpone the payment because there's no money. "Well, I didn't say I had given him the money." "What are you waiting for?" Saul said some "stuff" happened, that's all. David wonders if the missing money is the reason Saul got kicked out of the house. "You know what, I don't have to answer to a *bleep* like you." David says he's just as much man as Saul (oh, I'd say more, much more). Saul calls him impotent and David punches him. JJ comes in to break up the fight and is either shocked or impressed with David.
Toni and Bruno walk Lucia and Alex out of the house.
Toni comes inside and explains his nefarious plan to Ivan. He told Alex that Ivan wasn't going on vacation with him because Alex doesn't want him there. He says these are just the first steps, and it's not Ivan's moment yet. "Let me deal with it. I'm an old wolf…wherever you go, I've already been there." Toni points out that Alex is afraid of Ivan and he's got to be calm. Toni doesn't think Gerry will object to the trip, and Carolina will just have to put up with it.
Antolín tells Carolina they need to go to DF to get the tests. She's worried about what she'll tell Gerry, and Antolín suggests saying her sister left her the money she's using for the trip and the tests, etc. "And what about Alex?" Antolín says sooner or later, Ivan will take him. "I don't know what Gerardo's going to do, but you are a young, beautiful woman and you have to think about your life. Or are you going to join a convent?" Carolina tearfully says that might be the best solution. Antolín hugs her and says she spent a lot of years taking care of someone else's kid, and she's got her whole life ahead of her. "I don't know what I'd do without you, Antolín. Swear you'll never abandon me!" Antolín says he'd die first and swears it on his father's memory.
David explains to JJ about the missing million and JJ tries to brush it off. "How can I not worry about it? That's way too much not to know where it went!" JJ reminds him that if he's in for a penny, he's in for a pound. "Are you sure that wasn't the payment for whoever burned down Cuthberto's crop, to cast blame on the McGuire's." JJ reminds him, "you're either with me or against me." David insists that he won't be against him, because he's his son. I get ready to groan, but then he finishes up with, "But I'm not going to be with you either." He storms out of the office. Go David! Saul wonders if David will go run to tell Ivan and JJ gives him a "Shut up, stupid!" look.
Alex tells Gerry about the trip. Gerry agrees it sounds great and gives his permission. Carolina cries quietly and doesn't appear to be comforted to hear that Ivan won't be there. Alex asks for her permission and she says of course, and claims to be crying because she's happy for him to be going on vacation.
It's club time again (spare me!) and Antolín goes over to ask Saul what's up. "Don't talk to me. It's your fault they let Camilo out." "You made a mistake. I told you to leave my family alone." Saul whines that he lost his credit cards and got kicked out of the house, but then he got the cards back. "Then what are you complaining about?" Antolín asks if he might be able to pick up some cash doing a job, but Saul says no. Antolín sees Maripaz dancing, then goes outside. He gets on his cell phone and asks someone else for a job that pays good money. Maripaz comes outside, cup in hand, to retrieve her car from the valet. Antolín offers to drive her, but she turns him down. She drives off, cup still in hand, and Antolín follows her in the Pimpmobile. He sees Maripaz run down some poor old person crossing the street. Antolin jumps out of his car and takes a picture of Maripaz crouching by her victim on his cell phone, then looks horrified. Maripaz gets back in her car and drives off. A couple come running up and Antolín says the woman looks like she's dead. He asks if the saw the car that hit her, but they didn't. Rather that use his own cell phone, he gets them to go back to their house, a block away, and call the Red Cross from there. Once they leave, he checks out his cell phone picture, then goes back to his car.
Maripaz pulls up at her old house and frantically rings the bell, yelling at Cleto to let her in and wash the car. She claims she ran over a dog and insists he wash the car--right now!
Maripaz comes running into the house, crying for her mom. Lucia, Lucrezia, and Carlota all come running. She now unloads on all three of them that she ran a woman over and killed her.
Cleto is outside, washing blood off the car.
Everyone's at the dining room table now. Carlota gently tells Maripaz she should have called for help. Lucrezia Borgia says she did the right thing. Carlota sadly says of course Lucrezia would think so. "Well, do you want me to end up in jail?" Um…yes. Maripaz demands a whisky, but Carlota says no way. "You were drunk, weren't you!" Maripaz defends her drunkenness on the grounds that she was out partying. "I had two drinks" Lucia tells her if anyone saw her, it's even worse because it's a hit and run. Maripaz tells her not to be an "ave de mal agüero" (bird of bad omen; harbinger of doom) and besides, she didn't see anyone. Lucrezia asks where the car is, and doesn't appear to be alarmed that poor Cleto is out there washing away evidence of murder. Lucrezia starts to ask her if she can see now where her drinking has led, but she backs off when Maripaz says she's in no mood for lectures. "I left because I was scared! Besides, that woman came out of nowhere! Why is it my fault if people cross the street without checking to see if there's a car coming!" Carlota repeats that she should have stopped to help. Maripaz says she didn't and that's it. "I don't want to spend 10 years in jail!" That's it? 10 years? For killing someone? Lucrezia Borgia tells them all to calm down. Maripaz agrees. "I'm sure someone found her and called an ambulance and she's being taken care of." Lucia tries to point out that if Maripaz had been the one to call, the ambulance could have gotten there sooner, but Lucrezia shuts her down and preaches family unity. She takes Maripaz to go get cleaned up and go to sleep in her old room. Carlota puts her head in her hands and says this is the last thing they needed. Lucia calls it unpardonable. Carlota hopes it wasn't fatal. "I don't know what to do with your sister!" Lucia gripes that they'll have to put off the trip with Alex, but Carlota says "no way!" If anyone identified Maripaz's car, the cops will be there the following day or the day after. If that doesn't happen, they're going on vacation! Lucia points out that the car is still in David's name, and if they arrest him, she's going to tell the truth. IF? Oh, Lucia, this time, you've taken family loyalty too far.
Antolín and Camilo walk out of their mom's house, talking about the trip. Celia is disappointed to hear Ivan won't be going. Camilo says it'll be about a week to a week-and-a-half trip. Antolín says goodbye to his mom and says her breakfasts are still the best ever. He asks Camilo how it went with Maripaz. Camilo says it was a lousy favor Antolín did him…that she's bugging him all the time and begging him to come see her apartment. Celia advises Camilo not to get involved with her and to stand her up and not go to her apartment later.
Carlota and Lucia scour the newspapers and finally find an article about the accident. She was dead by the time the ambulance got there, but they have no leads on the vehicle. Lucrezia talked to Cleto and reiterated that Maripaz had run over a large dog. She told him to keep his mouth shut. Lucia says there are no leads on the car, which makes Lucrezia happy. When Lucia says the woman died, Lucrezia responds with a desperate, "ni modo!" (whatever). Lucia wishes they knew who the family was, to be able to help them somehow. Carlota can't think of how, without hurting Maripaz. "How far are we going to go to defend an irresponsible drunk?!" Sing it, sister. Carlota cries that sometimes she'd like to go to sleep and never wake up. Lucia gets sad and says Carlota is the one holding this family together, and besides, she has a great-grandson to think of. Carlota hopes he never finds out who his mother is. Lucia asks what she'd do without Carlota's advice, and her scolding. "You've always been a smart girl. You'd know how to go on. Promise me one thing--defend your happiness!" Lucia promises.
Lucrezia and Maripaz get into a shouting match in her room. Maripaz wants to go back to her apartment since no one knows what happened. Lucrezia will go get her stuff, but Maripaz is grounded. She angrily agrees she won't leave the house.
Gerry talks to Toni about the trip. Gerry tells Carolina that the day after tomorrow, Alex is going on vacation with Toni, Carlota, and Lucia, but not Ivan. She tells him she's gone to see an eye doctor and she's going to see if they can operate and restore her sight. Gerry thinks that's great. She wants to take advantage of Alex being gone to go to DF. Gerry asks if she couldn't wait until after his job is done, so they can use the money from that. "I don't want to wait, and I don't need your money. Beatriz left me some gold coins and I can pay with that." Gerry is surprised to hear it, but agrees she didn't need to tell him about the coins. Carolina tells him Antolín will be going with her to DF. Gerry asks if they're dating, but she says they like each other, that's all. Once Alex leaves for his trip, she'll go too. Gerry looks concerned.
Carmen brings Lichita to meet her baby daddy, presumably. Saul is pissed to see them outside the Ag Association. She tells him that she needs money and he's not keeping up his end of the deal. If he doesn't use the information, she will. Saul shushes her when she says that yes, that's his kid. He pulls out his wallet and tries to buy her off with one bill, then two. She tells him she wants an apartment, so he'd better figure out how to get her one. "An apartment?! Are you crazy?" "Aren't you even going to say hello to your daughter?" Saul says he doubts she's his. Carmen threatens to tell Antolín.
JJ complains to the accountant that he needs to get the money from somewhere to pay Cuthberto. The accountant insists there's not enough money in the association. There's hardly enough to pay for office supplies and payroll. He has one idea, though…"Make a transfer from your account to the insurance fund." JJ doesn’t like that answer. Oh, suck it JJ.
David goes to see Ivan. He gets the story about the rattlesnake bite. David seems mildly impressed. He explains he's been busy and asks to see Toni. Toni's busy checking into transport for Bruno for the vacation. David asks about his replacement…just out of curiosity. Ivan guesses there's problems with Daddy Dearest. David says they don't agree about how to manage the business. "Yep. You're honest and he's not." Ivan asks if he wants to come back. David tries to hedge, but Ivan points out they need someone for the packing plant. They can always send the new guy over there and David can work with them at the home office. David tries to object--the other guy might be better. Ivan says it's not like they're leaving him unemployed. "Besides, we're half brothers, right?" David agrees. "You're the brother I always wanted to have." Coming from a guy who grew up with Saul, that's not really saying much.
Gloria drags Maripaz's bags into her room, happy that Maripaz is back. Lucrezia dismisses her. Maripaz is wondering if anyone went looking for her. Lucrezia says even if no one did, that doesn't mean Maripaz can go back. "But I'm used to a different life," Maripaz whines. "Well, since last night, when you killed someone, your life changed. You're in no position to make demands, so put your clothes away." Maripaz whines about having to put her own clothes away and stay there with these "moñas" (losers? Tiresome people?)
Carlota and Lucia are making trip plans. Lucrezia comes in and berates them for making plans while the sky is falling. "You don't want anyone to know what Maripaz did? So the best thing for us to do is go on like nothing happened." Carlota says the trip is important because Alex needs to reconcile with Ivan. The plan is for Alex to get to know Toni and realize that Ivan's a good guy. Lucrezia asks what's going to happen if something happens with Maripaz. Carlota says she'll just have to deal with it. She wants to go check out Lucia's beach wear. She refuses to let their plans be derailed by Maripaz's craziness. Lucrezia calls them "egoistas" (selfish) to which Carlota replies "el burro hablando de orejas!" (the donkey talking about ears; the pot calling the kettle black).
Maripaz's landlady instructs the maid to do a thorough cleaning. Camilo comes in, asking if it's Maripaz's place. The landlady says it used to be, but her mom picked up all her clothes and hopefully she'll never be back! Camilo leaves.
Ivan yells at Toni about not going on the trip. He finally gets to his point--he needs some alone time with Lucia to get their sex on! Toni understands, but if Alex keeps rejecting him, they'll lose all the ground they've gained so far. "But I love Lucia!" Toni asks who he loves more and Ivan yells at him not to ask that question.
Ivan waits outside Lucia's house. He asks Cleto to let him see Lucia, but Cleto says they're all asleep. Ivan bullies his way into the house, cane and all.
Lucia is just putting away her trashy romance novel when Ivan walks into her bedroom. She calls him crazy and he tells her to shut it and climbs into bed. She keeps calling him crazy and says he's not well. "I'm well enough for this!" he insists and starts stripping down. Lucia can't control her giggles at first, but then she climbs on board the lust train! Maripaz walks in on them, angering Ivan, Lucia, and presumably all of Viewerville.

Cuando Me Enamoro #120 Thursday 10/6/11 The Tragedy of Love is Indifference*
Alternate Titles: 1) People need to talk but nobody does, 2) Renata reluctantly agrees
Redux and to quote Marta: Marina arrives at Jero’s… he is surprised she is there. She wants the truth from him. He takes a deep breath before dropping the bomb… My heart, my body and my soul want to be with Nata.
Tonight we continue with a lot of “I’m sorry to hurt you” and “I had to know the truth” and sad, understanding smiles. Maritata was hoping there would be a space for Them but she wants him to be happy. She’s going to return to Ensenada to care for her uncle but then...who knows? Good luck with Renata, Maritata says, imparting a love’s lost kiss on his cheek. She leaves and sobs outside the door as the loud music drives out any sympathetic thoughts we might have for her.
Ezequiel approaches Lazaro for his help with Augustin’s latest demand. It’s not an easy vine shoot problem like before. This time it’s a real toughie (algo bien grueso).
Jero calls Nata, he wants to see her tomorrow, please it’s super important he urges. Renata reluctantly agrees.
Back to weepy and top-heavy Doc BalconyBoobs perched precariously at the top of some stairs. She sobs she has lost him but she loves him so. Step back you fool!!
Nata’s phone rings again and this time it’s Augi calling to offer his apologies for his last phone call, excusing himself because of his fury. She wearily manages to get a dig in about his jealousy along with her forgiveness. She says they Need To Talk. He doesn’t get the hint and changes the subject back to himself, griping that Arely was the wine saboteadora, no doubt due to her jealousy about their relationship. The nerve, and after he was such a gentleman with her! (Ha!!!) She does a little “I told you so” about Jero being the culprit but this only sets Augi off on more Jero-bashing. He says Renata is his highest priority and as soon as he cleans up this wine mess he’ll head out to the DF. Good because, she repeats, they Need To Talk. She removes her ring and thought bubbles she doesn’t want to hurt Augi but she still loves Jero and she’s got other plans independent of Augi’s.
Over at La Bonita Carlos pleads with Mati to stop harping about that curse crapola. The padre just has the flu; loosen the headband and get over it. Aw shucks and all right, she agrees. Laz and Ez stride in and want to talk to Carlos pronto!
It’s nighttime in the DF where Matias and Adri discuss their trip (to the Sea of Cortez!) and relationship. He wants her to talk to Chema before they leave. Oblivious of the anvil, they enjoy some sweet kisses and face caresses.
Laz sneaks into Arely’s room and wakes her up. He grabs her watch from her nightstand, says he’ll explain later, get dressed, no noises or lights, and trust him.
At the hospital Berta, Gonzo and Regina happily inform Renata that Berta will be rooming with Regina for a while. Nata’s not super excited about this and says she was planning to look after sis. Regina gushes that they should all stay at her house and remain united. Berta urges sis to come, she needs Nata now more than ever and it will be an opportunity for Berta to start making amends. Renata reluctantly agrees.
Under cover of darkness and the well-lit courtyard, Laz and Arely jump into the SUV and speed off. Herminia, peeking out the curtains, wonders what’s up with that?
Next morning Mati asks Herminia if she’s seen Lazaro, his bed hasn’t been slept in. Herminia looks abundantly guilty and shrugs. Mati prods, Kari sneaks up behind and Herminia spills, Laz left with Arely last night. “What? Where?” demands Kari, “No puede ser!!” she cries, dashing out of the room. Mati scolds Hermi for being chismosa. Sheesh, she just told the truth.
Ez visits Augi in his office, looks around suspiciously, and tosses Arely’s watch on the desk. Doesn’t el patron recognize it? It’s Arely’s, proof as it were. Augi asks how Ez did it. Ez nervously recounts the faux fable (fábula falsa). She was going to return to the DF last night so he had to act. He went looking for her pretending it was a chance encounter. He offered her a ride to the airport and she accepted. They stopped at a cliff to check the lights of the car, then he bonked her on the head and dumped her and her suitcases into the sea. We see a split screen of Laz and Arely throwing her suitcase into the inky black bay. Augi cheerfully observes not many have the cold blood it takes to do what Ez did. He says Ez is the only guy he can trust and pushes a big wad of cash his way. Ez says the money’s not necessary, he did it to prove Augi could trust him. Augi makes him take it and, alone, says “One less problem in my life” as he casually tosses the watch aside and gets back to his paperwork.
Laz puts Arely, now in traditional dress, onto the bus where she thanks him profusely. He says what she can do for him is to take care of herself and go someplace where Augi can never find her. (Which begs the question, why did she bother to show up in the first place? Don’t bother trying to answer, it’s rhetorical and we know why anyway.) She promises that Augi will never hear about her so Ez is safe. She plants a real, live kiss on him before he leaves, prompting him to kiss his rosary. (Funny! Did he ad lib that?) How many of us really believe she is gone for good?
Carlos calls Jero to give him the skinny on Arely. Jero angrily says Augi is much worse than they ever imagined. I think he says that every time they discuss Augustin.
MariTata, thankfully having avoided a fall down the stairs of doom, confirms that the padre has the flu and says he must rest for at least two weeks. She hands him a mask and we get a short PSA about contagion. He’s sure Matilde will die because he can’t perform her ceremony. Maritata sadly comments she will stay to help him. Nosy Padre suspects she’s sad about Jero and she confirms they are finished, “Terminamos.” But she’s not returning to the DF, at least not while Padre is sick.
Back in the DF Fina, in sixties mod cum Mao cum workout disguise, hands a letter to her reluctant accomplice Nurse Raquel. Raquel says she heard Fina is a murderess. “Lies, all lies,” insists Fina. She greases Raquel’s palm with cash (lana) and nursie takes the note for Roberta.
When Berta is alone Nurse Raquel gives her the letter which Berta feebly tries to refuse but can’t resist reading. “Roberta, blah blah blah you don’t know how much your rejection pains me. We are together in this business and don’t even think about betraying me because you know very well if you do you’ll lose everything! Love Mommy”
Adri shows up at Chema's and tells him they Need To Talk, to finish the conversation she started the other day before he got sick. What? he says, he doesn’t remember it at all. Uh, whatever, she says, can they go for coffee now so They Can Talk? Well, he’s busy now but what about tonight at her place? (NO! Talk NOW you dumb bunny Adri. It’ll take 30 seconds tops.) But no, she agrees to meet the guy-who-remembers-nothing tonight. At her place. He says he will be there. He won’t remember. Gah!
Nata walks in and sees Berta’s letter. Berta quickly rips it to shreds vowing she doesn’t want to see her mother ever again. “All it said was lies, pure lies like always!” she insists. They bond about being daughters of a murderess. Nata says their mom is a killer whot kept her from the love of her life. Berta rudely throws all the pieces of paper all over the floor so the nurse can pick them up and put them in the wastebasket located next to Berta’s bed. Nope, our entitled Berta has not yet progressed much. Berta suggests Renata forget Jeronimo and find someone whose brother their mother hasn’t killed.
Over at LA BONITA Doctata meets with Carlos and Mati to tell them about Padre’s influenza. He’s out of commission for 15 days and they should look for another padre to marry them on Saturday. Mati’s indignant, no way will she be married by another, tell the padre to take care of himself and they’ll get married at the end of the month. “End of the month?” murmers Doc MissedAMonth. “we’re already in the middle of the month and...” And what, says Carlos. “We’re in the middle of the month and I’ve missed my period,” thought bubbles Doc BunInTheOven. Carlos gazes at her suspiciously as she quickly exits.
Evil Berta starts working on Renata’s fears. Berta says at least she can’t have children so they won’t inherit mommy’s evil. She suggests Nata avoid Jero, just imagine if she has a child who ends up damaged like their mom! Nata sighs that evil isn’t inherited. Maybe not, says Berta, but some flaw could get passed on. And she can’t avoid the fact that their mom killed Jero’s brother. Renata should leave Jero in peace so as to avoid their future fights. He’ll find it very difficult to forgive and overcome the murdering mother part of the family. Berta insists she has no doubt that sooner or later Jero will blame Renata. (Again, I add.)
Nurse Raquel brings the ripped up letter to Fina and reports her sister was in the room and Berta is getting released in just a couple of hours.
Berta gets Renata to leave the room so she can make a call on Renata’s phone. She calls Augi, “Ha, fooled you! It’s the evil sister.” He reports that Adri has Berta’s phone and told him she was in the hospital. Berta says he needs to get his buns down the DF pronto because Renata’s in bad shape about mom and is making noises about having kids with Jeronimo. He says he now understands Renata’s existential crisis. (Hee!) It’s over Berta’s head and she says Huh? Just get down here. He reminds her to erase the call and she mutters “Duh, estupido!”
Kari is crying to Alfonsina about Laz and Arely sneaking out the night before. They man bash and assume the worst. She’s going to see the Padre because she suspects he knows some secret and she wants to know the truth.
Mati, in spite of her support for the padre, is now crying because their wedding is postponed. Carlos comforts her as Laz walks into the room. Mati immediately forgets her grief so she can jump up and give her brother some of his own. Where did he go last night with Arely? Laz insists he’s done nothing to be ashamed of. Then why did Herminia see them sneaking out and why didn’t he tell anyone, she demands? Carlos says they wanted to tell her but ...listen up and not a word to anyone!
Augi and Ez are inspecting the vines which seem to be improving. Ez says he’ll keep an eye out for further outbreaks. Augi wonders if there has been any gossip or news about Arely’s accident. Ez says he doubts anyone will find her. Even better, laughs Augi who is now in a good mood. He informs EZ he’s heading off the Mexico City to take care of his priority Renata. He trusts Ez to take care of his vineyard and Ez breathes a sigh of relief at Augi’s departure.
Kari visits the Padre who is dutifully wearing his mask. She reports she’s living with Alfonsina because of Lazaro. He’s been catting around (andar coscolino), that’s why Padre suggested they not marry, right? Padre’s all “Huh? No!” He scolds her for thinking that of Laz. “Then why did you advise me to postpone our wedding?” she demands.
Ack! Cut to Doc ShouldBeDead over at the prison hospital. He’d rather stay in hospital instead of going back to jail, but the real doc says Doc Ick is fine and it’s time to call Linares.
Short scene with Carlos and Mati in the office, kissing and loudly promising to keep Arely’s secret, when the phone rings. It’s the prison doctor; Carlos gets rid of Mati so he can talk. The real doc tells him that Doc Ick is ready to go back to prison in a couple of days. Doc IWannaBeFreeToDoEvil writhes in bed, no doubt plotting his escape.
Regina, Gonzo and Jero receive the DNA results. Dum da dum....drumroll please.
“Thank you God,” gushes Regina, “after 25 years I finally know my daughter is alive and I can hug and kiss her. She has a name and I have the privilege of knowing her.” Jero can’t stand it and asks the Drama Queen who is her daughter, Renata (hopeful smile) or Roberta (frown)? “My daughter is...my daughter is...ROBERTA!”
Avances: Fina, disguised as a hayseed, smacks her maid and skulks around.

Una Familia Con Suerte #3 Thu 10/6/11 Pancho gets thrown out of Avon and is then offered the presidency.
- Fernanda arrives at Avon with a new puffy hairdo and a snazzy scarlet dress, and gets complimented on her "nuevo look." She has a meeting with Rebeca Reviño, who has gotten huge breast and butt implants since the last time I saw her in a telenovela. Rebeca is Fernanda's friend and confidante, and Fer is trying to lure her into coming back to work at Revlon. Rebeca doesn't want to because she doesn't want to see that skunk Veents (he must have done something lousy which we'll hear about eventually), so Fer plays the cancer card, "I'm dying, you need to come back and help me." Rebeca agrees.
Fernanda thought-bubbles sadly about her nephew Vince - he has everything, money, power, but he can't wait to take over her business. We see this confirmed when Vince's creepy lawyer friend Enzzo Rinaldi, father to the yukky snobby Monica (who is currently going out with yukky snobby Freddy but we sense that won't be lasting long...), comes to visit. A scantily clad bimbo minces in and says: a very "folklorico" guy is making a scene in the lobby. The dastardly duo dream of the day in the near future when Vince will be Pres and Enzzo will be Vice-Pres. Vince tells Enzzo they shouldn't put on their party hats just yet because auntie still isn't dead.
As if Fer can hear them panting for her demise, she decides she'll teach Vince a lesson. She compares him unfavorably to the noble yet humble Pancho Lopez and tells Rebeca about the enchanting casa popular: "They all yell, they all talk at the same time, but they love each other, they're so full of life!" - After Candela shows Pancho the lady he saved on the cover of Forbes Magazine, proving she is a millionairess and owner of a huge business, he gets it in his head that Fer was messing with him and lying to him and in high dudgeon goes with Chela to Avon to yell at her. They don't get any farther than the lobby where Pancho lectures loudly on the socio-economic dialectic. The security guys throw him out and his car is almost towed but he charms the tow-truck guy out of it.
- He and Chela go home. Chela is very jealous of "la flaca" (the skinny one) Pancho was eyeing in the lobby (Rebeca of the giant implants). He is amused and tries to kid her out of it. He gets registered mail - it's from the evil lawyer Enzzo: if Pancho doesn't pay up they'll all be out on the street. He and Chela start planning the festival that's supposed to pay the mortgage. Isn't that like having a bake sale to pay for college? He'll let everybody in for free anyway, I'm sure.
- Again Lupita kisses her boyfriend Tomás on a dark street corner but won't let him fondle her pleasure mounds. Her friend warns that remaining a virgin until you marry is old-fashioned and if Lupita won't put out, Tomás will find a girl who will, and in fact he already has one - he is macking in the back seat of a car when his buddy Pepe comes looking for him.
Tomás pushes the girl down to hide her (since no doubt his buddy Pepe would be irked by the wriggling, after all Lupita is his sister). All three (the girl hidden) go to a club where I think Tomás gets rid of Betty, the back-seat floozy. He tells her that Lupita is the "cathedral" while she, Betty, is just the chicken shack. - At the club the awful Freddy, his friend Alex, and the awful Monica are already enjoying the pleasures of urban youth. Alex asks Freddy why he's with Monica - Freddy explains it's because she's of the proper financial background and "our fathers want to see us marry." The friend points out that love does not seem to be part of the equation.
I believe the fresas and the nacos are about to have some more face time at this disco. - After hearing that Pancho had come to see her and been thrown out, Fernanda goes to his house. He is in high dudgeon but she charms him out of it and soon they are knocking back tequilas.
She offers him the presidency of her company, telling him he's a natural leader and has the qualities she needs - qualities like integrity. He points out he's a vegetable peddler and might send her company into the abyss. She says he doesn't have enough faith in himself, he says he's a realist and turns down her offer as the episode ends.
The preview for tomorrow? It was the recap we'll see at the beginning of tomorrow's episode - in other words, they show us again what we already saw today and which we will see yet again at 8:02 tomorrow night. Over to you, Julie!
