Juan Q 8/7 Juan gets a little cheeky

Mareli thinks she’s figured out Juan’s secret. He’s gay, right?

Paula’s not happy about CL’s wife calling. She thinks it’s weird that Monica’s at home waiting to eat with him. He explains that it’s just out of custom. Plus, Monica needs time for the non-existent divorce and all. Poor, poor Monica. Paula asks CL if Monica knows about what’s going on in his life. Paula accepts his silence as the answer. CL spits out that he hasn’t found the right moment to tell Monica about Paula. Paula urges him to hurry up and find that moment.

Alirio begs Nidia to leave the Davila’s in peace. She explains that she doesn’t want to invite them to the wedding out of malice. After speaking with Ana, she doesn’t think they’re bad people. Alirio can’t believe newfound affection goes as far as inviting las Davila’s to the wedding.

Juan’s offended and he scolds Mareli. She points out that he’s not answering the question. She just wants to know if he’s gay. I’m guessing the bright green shirt isn’t helping his cause. Juan says that he’s not gay and he points out that he’s not effeminate. Mareli doesn’t think that not being effeminate means anything. Juan responds by saying that he definitely he is not gay. Juan says that he’s bothered that people think he’s something that he’s not. Mareli points to Juan’s relationship with Pastor. Juan replies that this doesn’t mean that he’s the same as Pastor. Mareli asks Juan why he tolerates Pastor. I wonder the same thing, considering that CL, the BOSS, seems to have a mad man crush on Juan. CL needs his spy; I’m sure Juan’s job is perfectly safe.

CL tells Paula that if it’s so important he’ll tell Monica tonight. He wants to maneuver the topic away from Monica, but Paula disagrees. Monica is a problem at the center of their relationship. CL says that Monica’s unpredictable (impredecible) and he doesn’t know how’ll she’ll take the news. She’ll probably faint, CL. Monica does that, a-l-o-t. Paula falls for it, again, and says that if it’s that important to him then not to tell Monica. CL looks Paula in the eye and in the sleaziest way possible tells her that he never wants to lose the magic of this moment. Personally, I think this moment sucked for them both, but if that’s his idea of a great memory…then go for it, CL!

Nidia explains to Alirio that the Davila’s are family. Paula’s the girls’ half sister and Mareli’s boss. The should be present for an important family occasion. Alirio reminds Nidia that Ana is the one who stole Samuel. Nidia doesn’t think anything will please Alirio. Alirio says he just thought he wouldn’t live to see the day. Nidia replies that it’s happening and that’s it.

Juan explains to Mareli that he’s very grateful to Pastor. Pastor gave Juan that job and Pastor is the head of human resources. Juan has to be very careful with Pastor. Mareli asks if Juan’s serious that nothing is going on with Pastor. Juan replies that there is nothing with Pastor or any other man. He asks Mareli how he can demonstrate that to her. She says that he doesn’t need to do anything; she believes him. Her smile doesn’t make me, or Juan, very sure.

Alirio doesn’t think it’s a good idea considering the whole issue of the will. Nidia responds that she’s a good person, but not an idiot. One thing is one thing and another is something else entirely. (That sounds a lot better in Spanish!)

Pastor once again laments the comings, goings and doings of Juan Dominguez. Yvonne is just plain tired of hearing it. Pastor looks for drama. Pastor asks if Yvonne knows something. She replies that she saw Juan leaving, and he didn’t look as sad as Pastor thinks Juan was. Pastor asks for complete information. Yvonne tells Pastor that Juan left with Mareli.

Juan thought bubbles to himself that he can tell that Mareli said she believed him only to avoid problems. He decides that he needs to do something quickly to prove himself.

Pastor confuses Yvonne of meddling in his affairs with Juan. He’s noticed that Yvonne’s had her eye on Juan since the day he arrived. He accuses Yvonne of always wanting men who belong to someone else; in this case it’s Juan. Yvonne replies that Pastor needs to stop being such a geek (sonso) and open his eyes because Juan’s playing dirty. Pastor won’t hear it and he throws Yvonne from his office.

Now that she and CL are done with lunch, Paula wants to return to the office. She worries because there’s a lot of work to be done and people will star talking if they notice that both she and CL are gone all afternoon. CL insists that she accompany him some place where he can make her an offer. She agrees to go.

Mareli thanks Juan for the food, the company and for answering her questions. He says it was no problem; he wanted to resolve all doubts. They take their leave. Juan thought bubbles to himself and wonders if he should stay or leave. He resolves that Paula is a decent woman and that she’ll return. When she does; she’ll need him. He sadly thinks that the love of his life is about to fall into the arms of another.

CL’s brought Paula to the love nest. She wants to know why. She wants to know if his proposal includes a bed. He replies that it will only if she wants it.

Pastor immediately accosts Mareli the instant she walks into the lobby. He asks her to come to his office. Yvonne looks on, a knowing look spreading across her face.

CL explains to Paula that his proposal is for her to live in this apartment. Paula wants to know how he knows she’ll accept. He replies that he knows that she needs it. He doesn’t want her to live with him; he only wants to offer the apartment. She notes that it’s odd that he has a house and an unoccupied apartment. He explains that it’s for foreign business associates. Paula says that she cannot accept. He thinks she should use it as a temporary solution while she looks for her own apartment. She’s the woman that he loves and he’s worried about her. She accepts. He says they need to go to the supermarket first to fill the empty refrigerator.

Pastor explains to Mareli that he’s going to touch on a sensitive subject. She tells him not to worry; she’s an open book. He replies that he wants to talk about her private life. Now Mareli’s worried. Pastor asks Mareli about the nature of her relationship with Juan. Mareli’s a little incredulous. She wants to know why Pastor asked this question. He gets upset and tells her just to say yes or no. Are she and Juan a couple?

CL and Paula exit the apartment building. CL goes to Fernando and dismisses him for the day. CL returns to Paula and says that they should go to the supermarket; there’s one close by. She asks CL how he knew that. He said that was one of the factors for buying the apartment. He liked the location and everything necessary to live is close. They leave for the local market.

Mareli answers Pastor by saying that she didn’t realize that he wanted to get that personal. Pastor repeats his question. Mareli says that has nothing to do with her work. Pastor pulls out the relationships-between-employees-is-forbidden card. Mareli thinks this is an ancient rule, that’s out of date. Pastor doesn’t want to debate that; he wants an answer. He says that her lack of an answer must be an affirmation. Mareli replies that it’s really the opposite. There’s nothing between her and Juan. Pastor begs Mareli to tell him that she’s sure. Mareli once again says that Juan is not her type. Mareli takes her leave of a gleeful Pastor.

We’re treated to another Paula-CL montage. They didn’t go psychedelic this time. Oh no, they went retro. They scratched the film to make it look like old home movies. How sweet. Not! Is that Wal-Mart?

Juan sees that Fernando returns to the garage alone and he loses hope. Fernando wants to know why Juan is still there. Juan explains that he’s waiting. He demands to know where Paula is. Fernando looks worried that Juan might just eat him.

CL says that when he said he would take Paula to the supermarket, he didn’t know she would take it so seriously. Paula replies that she only got what was necessary. CL pulls out a bottle of wine and asks if she really only got the necessities. Paula asks him if he’s every shopped at the supermarket before. He replies that he has not, but he liked the experience (because of the company). They start to make out. She wants to put the groceries away first, but he has other things on his mind. She slowly gives in to him.

Juan again demands to know Paula’s whereabouts and with who. Fernando says that she’s with her boss. Juan says that Paula’s in danger. He pulls at Fernando’s collar. Fernando tells Juan that Paula’s in CL’s “lion’s den”. Fernando tells Juan that he feels sorry for Juan, but there’s nothing that they can do.

CL and Paula bask in the after sex moments. She doesn’t understand how he can always get her to do anything. He points out that they both just did something. She tells him that she went to Taxco thinking nothing would happen, but she returned in love. He asks if she regrets what happened. She replies that she does not. She tells him that she’s in love with him all the way to the spine. They start to make out again.

Fernando explains CL’s game to Juan. Juan’s obviously bothered. Fernando tells Juan not to think about it because he’ll go crazy. Juan gets on the bus and though bubbles that Paula can’t possibly become one of these women. He goes to her hotel, certain that she returned. At the reception desk, he comes up with a plan.

CL’s phone rings; it’s Monica. Paula insists that he answers. Has he already been caught?

Paula again insists that he answer or throw the phone out of the window. He haughtily answers the phone. Monica wants to know where he is. He says that he’s at one of the business’s properties, a grocery store. Monica asks him to stop at the pharmacy for her. She notes the frustration in his voice and asks if she’s interrupting something. He says that he’s in a meeting, but she should say what she needs. Paula puts on his shirt and stomps out of the room.

Juan goes to Ana’s house and offers her some bread. She asks him if he needs something. No, he just felt like coming over. She tells him to take a seat.

Kike’s trying to win over Yadira, but she doesn’t want him. He pretends to kiss her hello, but answers her “what do you want” by explaining that he was looking for Juan. She replies that Juan is not in the house. Kike asks if he may wait. Yadira says that Kike may, but that he will do so alone. Before she can leave, he asks how she is. She says that she’s fine and yells at him not to treat her like a sick person.

Ana and Juan sit in the living room, in silence. He finally asks how she is. She curiously says that she’s fine. More silence. He asks if there’s anything else. She says that she’s waiting for a job. He replies that jobs are very important. They share some more small talk and some silence. Finally, Ana asks if something’s wrong with Juan. He says that he just had a free afternoon and wanted to visit. Ana asks why his afternoon is free. Juan says that Paula had to do some things with CL. He then asks if Paula has, by chance, passed by the house. Ana says that Paula has not. Juan excuses himself for coming over and interrupting her. She says that she was just going to paint. Juan asks if he can help her with anything. She thinks for a moment and then says that he can. He says he’ll do whatever she wants. She happily smiles.

CL and Paula stand at opposite sides of the room. I’m not sure which is further, the emotional distance between them or the physical distance across the room. She’s making coffee. He notes that she’s upset about Monica’s phone call. She replies that of course she isn’t; can’t he see her smiling? She does come clean and say that she’s not accustomed to lies. It’s just not in her nature.

Ana reluctantly tries to explain to Juan what she needs. It’s not that he needs to do anything. Well, he does need to do something. She’s a painter and she’s become interested in the human form. Juan comments that he admires painters; he would be enchanted to help her. She asks him to be her model. He’s thrilled and starts to pose. She’s less interested in the pose. She’s interested in his body. She points out his body that he has under his clothes. She finally says that she wants to do a nude painting. Juan has to cover himself and nervously looks at Ana. I think the writer who came up with this storyline deserves a prize! A painting of Juan in nothing but his botas, ay ay ay!

CL and Paula have another boring fight. He once again doesn’t want to hurt Monica by talking about Paula. He guilt trips Paula into a false understanding. She doesn’t want to be together if they have to hide. CL says they don’t have to hide; they just have to be prudent. He begs her to be patient.

Juan asks if he really has to be dressed like he was when he entered the world. Ana replies that nude paintings are generally of naked people. He asks if he has to take off his boots. Noo!!!!! She says that he has to take off everything. He complains, but she begs; it’s for the love of art.

Juan goes into the bedroom and dances to his good luck. Seriously, my TV just went out. Can anyone fill in this scene?

Okay, my TV’s back online. Nidia and Kike are talking about food. I missed the beginning so I think he’s just talking about her good food.

Juan comes down the stairs in a white towel, his boots and his handkerchief. Thank you, Lord, for making my TV fix itself! I was wrong; this writer doesn’t deserve an award. She deserves a freaking Oscar and an Emmy, a Golden Globe and the biggest People’s Choice award there is! Juan tells Ana that he’s ready. She comments that he has a nice body. She tells him to take off his boots. He complies; we’re down to a towel, ladies! She directs him to sit down. He asks about his pose. She directs him to go sit by the wall. He does some poses for her. She tells her to lay down, but not like he’s sleeping. That towel is just scandalous! After she poses him, she says that he’s perfect and to get rid of the towel. He asks if it’s really necessary for her to paint his naught bits. She insists that he take off the towel. I bet Juan never, never considered this when he came over to the Davila house that afternoon! Ana tells Juan that they won’t be the first naughty bits that she’s seen, so he can just go ahead and take off the towel. He complies. We get a shot of Juan behind some lovely flowers. Ana looks at him and from the expression on her face we can guess that his naughty bits aren’t so itty-bitty.

Amar Sin Limites #14, Monday 8-6: A Swing and a Miss

At the Men's Wearhouse of Inappropriate Personal Disclosures: We pick back up with Diego telling Arnaldo and Ceci that, given the chance, he would have liked to marry Azul, make her happy, be made happy by her, have her babies…no, wait, he didn't say that last part. Arnaldo is impressed by Diego's sincerity (tomato, tomahto). Diego hands Arnaldo and Ceci off to the guy at the register. Diego heads upstairs, where Perla (Diego's female coworker/buddy) wants to know how long Paco and Lidia have been together (the answer: years). She leaves without telling him why she wanted to know. Now Abuelo comes up, rocking a blue tie, to chat with Diego about his day ("como los tamaleros: mal y vendiendo," meaning "like the tamale sellers: bad, but selling"). He says the sewing area is small and disorganized, but he can wing it, plus the other wise men all have a mutual admiration society going. Mama doesn't know Abuelo's working there yet. Diego mentions he has permission to leave work early and Abuelo wonders if it's about "the flower girl" or "the woman with mental problems". Diego just gives him a hug, but looks worried.

Casa Diego: Papa surprises Mama by buying bread. I wasn't trying to be snarky, it just came out that way. He tells her he went to talk to Isela (pool hall owner), but she treated him like a dog. Mama said he hasn't seen her in a while and she wonders if Isela's acting like "the first lady" because she's with Papa's boss, Anibal. Mama's surprised Papa didn't know Isela and Anibal were an item. She wonders why the two of them are hiding it since they're both free…as far as she knows. Ooh, Papa looks uncomfortable.

Casa Azul and Ceci: Azul comes home and Arnaldo's in the kitchen fixing coffee. He looks like a waiter or a bartender with his white shirt and black vest. Azul notices the garment bag from Men's Wearhouse and Arnaldo tells her he likes Diego. She's pissed that Ceci took Arnaldo to that specific Men's Wearhouse. Arnaldo tells her to chill, that Diego's part of Azul's amorous past, but Azul denies it. Arnaldo thinks it's suspicious that Azul is that upset just from seeing the garment bag. Azul admits he's right, but says it's not important. Arnaldo (who's just as big a gossip as Ceci!) repeats what Diego said about wanting to marry Azul. Arnaldo goes on to say that Diego has what Azul needs. But he doesn't say it in a dirty way. I know, sometimes it's tough to tell given the content of the show. Moving on….

Paco's love nest at Isela's: Perla and Paco are sitting on the bed, for some unknown reason, and Perla is drinking what I suspect is tequila. She wants to know why he lives there and he says home sucks because he doesn't get along with his stepfather. He starts touching her hair and telling her how pretty she is, then he takes the shot glasses and puts them on the bedside table…the better to kiss her, my dears. He says he's wanted to be alone with her for a while and she returns the sentiment. She says she doesn't know him well and he makes a joke about not biting…well, only sometimes. He tells her what a catch he is and once he assures her he'll still respect her in the morning, they consummate their total lack of any previous relationship.

Diego drives Silvana to her meeting with Mauricio. He waits in the car while she goes inside. Mauricio has brought The Box Of (Not) Nico's Stuff. He wants her to open the box, but she says she'll do it later, when she's alone. He starts right in telling her that even before the accident Liliana (his dead wife) "wasn't well", that she'd been hallucinating. He wants to know what she told Silvana. Silvana says the only thing she said is that Mauricio was a monster, but she never got around to saying why. Liliana said she'd seen something and that Mauricio would never leave her alone now. Silvana wants to know what that something was and how Mauricio could be capable. Mauricio wonders what he's supposed to have been capable of and says he tried to stop Liliana, but she got into the accident because she was "self-medicating" and drunk. Silvana accuses Mauricio of leaving her son "tirado ahi, en el suelo" ("thrown there, on the ground"; sounds like she's accusing him of not helping her son at the scene of the accident?). Mauricio says she should read the report before she talks. He says they were "all" responsible, that Silvana could have stopped her since they were on the phone for so long while Liliana was on the road. He says when something terrible happens we "all" feel guilty and asks if she thinks she could have done something to stop the accident. He says he feels guilty every second…doesn't she? Is she completely innocent? Oops, I think he broke her. Silvana gets up, grabs the box and goes back to the car. Mauricio smiles maliciously. Malicious Mauricio…say that ten times fast.

Paco's School for Socially Challenged Young Men Who Need To Learn What NOT to Say After Sex: He starts with "I needed that". Perla asks him if he's not doing it with Lidia. He says sure, but after a while things get routine. Perla asks if that means he was just breaking out of his routine with her. He says no, it's not that, she's reguapa (way pretty); he kisses her hand and thanks her for "this gift". Are you cringing yet? Perla takes offense. She leaves, but not before telling him that he sucked in bed. Plus he cheated on his girlfriend, which wasn't worth it on account of how bad he was. Yee-ouch!

Casa Azul and Ceci: Mauricio came over to let Azul make him feel better after his horrible meeting with Silvana. They get all mushy with each other. Azul asks him when he's going to give her an engagement ring. Spoiled much? Mauricio's quiet a bit too long and Azul asks if he's going to answer. Mauricio tells him it's the first time a woman has demanded that from him. He says he loves it that she's done that. Aw, see, that's why they're perfect for each other. She's spoiled and he loves throwing money around. Can't we leave Diego for someone who actually wants him?

Driveway of Casa Diego: I don't know how long Silvana's been going on, but she tells Diego that Mauricio said she was to blame for the accident and that he's "un maldito" ("a damned"; we've talked about this adjectives-as-nouns thing before, she means he's a very, very bad man). She says he killed his wife and her son and he'll kill anyone who crosses him, etc., etc. Diego has had it with all this crazy talk. He says he likes her, but all this responsibility is weighing on him (hey, kid, you were the one who wanted the puppy). She gets out of the car, grabs The Box out of the back seat, and storms into the house. Mama sees her looking all homicidal/suicidal and asks how she is. No reply is forthcoming.

Casa Azul and Ceci: Mauricio and Arnaldo are bonding. Arnaldo says he's not on vacation, he's staying. Azul is happy to hear that, but not as happy to hear that Arnaldo spent the day with Tia Inés. Azul wants the three of them to go to dinner, but Mauricio says he'll go with them some other day, today he's too tired.

Diego's bedroom: Diego is whining to Silvana about how he gives, gives, gives, and never thinks about himself. He says he's not going to apologize for what he said because she knows why he said it. He plops down on his cot and she's sitting on the bed, so The Box is sitting in between them. She says she hasn't opened it yet, but now she flips the lid off. There's a fútbol that looks like perhaps it was kicked around for about half an hour on a carpet by kids wearing socks, a red toy car, and Caty's drawing. Nice try, Leonarda, but the drawing was too much. Silvana knows it's not Nico's drawing. And now she flips out, but good.

Casa Azul and Ceci: Arnaldo calls his dad, but Inés picks up the phone. She makes some excuse about picking up papers and hands the phone off to Alfredo. Alfredo and Arnaldo have a very terse conversation in which it is confirmed that they're having dinner the next night. Inés calls him on his terseness and he gives her a hard time about answering the phone at his place--what if it had been Azul? Inés apologizes. Who said it was like a relationship with a married man? Because that was right on.

Kitchen of Mansión Malicia: Mauricio is telling Andres that Silvana doesn't know anything. They can both sleep soundly from now on. Mauricio leaves the kitchen with his beer and Andres looks like he's not convinced he'll sleep soundly.

Casa Azul and Ceci: Arnaldo thinks Mauricio is too serious and a little arrogant. Azul defends him. Arnaldo points out that she pushed the relationship pretty fast after he (Arnaldo) brought up Diego. He suspects that Diego makes the earth move for her, and that scares her. She denies it, of course, and leaves the room.

Diego's bedroom: Diego's trying to get Silvana to calm down, but she's too upset that Mauricio would do this on purpose. She can't believe he thought this would fool her. Diego asks why he would deceive her about something this important and Silvana says it was so she would meet him. She says even though she was in a psych clinic for a year, she can still recognize her son's stuff and this ain't it. Diego says maybe Mauricio was confused. Silvana says if Diego doesn't believe her, they don't have anything more to talk about. She leaves the room.

Mansión Malicia: Azul and Mauricio are being mushy. Mauricio has a surprise for Azul. He covers her eyes and leads her to her death. No, he leads her to her new car, a little silver boxy sort of thing with a big red bow on top. She makes the usual noises about how she can't possibly accept it. From their perch by the hot tub, Leonarda and Andres look on. Leonarda says Azul is more ambitious than Mauricio. I'm not sure what that means or why it's such a dramatic statement.

Diego's bedroom: It's morning, and after Diego finishes getting dressed he sits on Silvana's bed and tells her he thinks it would be good for her to see Emilia and he'll see her there at the usual time.

Mansión Malicia: Ooh, Leonarda has said something nasty, apparently, because Mauricio says he'd prefer she didn't make those kinds of comments. Leo says she just wants to know if Azul also gets to decide when Leo will serve the employees lunch. All Mauricio cares about is that they don't have problems. Leo tries a "but Azul…." and Mauricio says if she doubts Azul, she doubts him. Andres tries to placate Mauricio, saying they just need to know what they're supposed to do. Mauricio apologizes and says he knows they're sensitive (say what?) and he hasn't been dealing well with things lately. He says they know he loves them and that they're his family. Then he walks off, leaving a not-reassured Leo and Andres.

Emilia's office: Big surprise, Silvana hasn't shown up for her session. Emilia tells Diego he should have called her and told her Silvana was in crisis. Gloria calls Emilia to tell her that Silvana saw Mauricio's picture in the paper with an article saying he'd be at some conference and that she (Silvana) grabbed the gun she'd hidden in Gloria's apartment and took off. She begs Emilia to help Silvana.

Mystery Conference, probably in some hotel ballroom: Mauricio and Andres are there, mixing and mingling. A couple of guys come to collect Mauricio so they can start the conference. Silvana shows up, but only has to say she's there with Mauricio in order to get in. She moves nervously around the room without really being noticed by anyone, despite wearing a bright red shirt and bumping into some people. She eventually goes to stand near a door. We see Diego coming to look for her, but since he only looks into the room and not around the corner, he apparently doesn't see Silvana. Either she sees him or she's just being her usual freaky self since she leaves her location and goes to hide behind a potted palm. More shots of Diego looking around the room before someone calls the conference to order. Silvana is pointing the gun, which Diego eventually sees. Things get slo-mo on and off as Silvana points the gun and people applaud Mauricio. Commercials! Ooh, suspenseful!

Back from commercials: Diego tackles Mauricio just before Silvana fires the gun and shatters the glass behind where Mauricio was standing. In the ensuing confusion, Silvana leaves. Mauricio wants to know who Diego is. A security guy asks everyone to calm down and tells them they can't leave. Diego is looking around for Silvana. The security guy asks if anyone saw where the shot came from and Mauricio points Diego out as having to have seen someone since he pushed him out of the way. Diego says he only saw that it was a man and saw the gun.

Mansión Malicia: Azul is showing off her new office to her dad and brother. Alfredo asks why Arnaldo is back. Arnaldo says it was just time, like it was time for Alfredo to leave his job at the university. Alfredo says it was different and that he "only" came to work there because he didn't have any other choice. Azul defends the bad-assedness of his job offer, but Alfredo says they had him between a rock and a hard place. Arnaldo says Alfredo's never going to thank Azul for rescuing him from financial ruin. Alfredo says he can see that Arnaldo only came back to bug him and to make up lies. Dude, I'm offended on Arnaldo's behalf. I wonder if GSD is purposely being a jerk or if he really sees it this way.

Office of Infidelity: Paco has come to visit Lidia at work. She asks if he's still out of sorts because of her promotion and says he's been this way since she got promoted. She notices he looks like he's crying and Paco admits to cheating on her--but just the once. Lidia's pissed and tells him to get out of there. You know, I kind of get the feeling that she's not really angry about the cheating per se, but because he told her. Or it might be because his shoes squeak so loudly on the floor.

Conference: Andres is suspicious of Diego. He thinks it's odd that Diego pushed Mauricio down to save him when he doesn't even know him. Mauricio gripes Andres out for not noticing what was going on. He blames it on Andres' jealousy of Azul (o-kay?).

Mansión Malicia, Azul's office: Azul asks Arnaldo why he and GSD always fight. She asks him to make an effort. He points out the "costume" (or "disguise") he's wearing--white shirt, black tie, black slacks…I'm getting that waiter vibe again.--as proof that he is making an effort. He says "me choca" (I hate it) that GSD always tries to act like he doesn't need them when he's always had to lean on someone to get ahead.

Conference: Mauricio wants to talk to Diego about what happened and reward him in some way, but Diego begs off, saying he already told the police everything, and he's freaked out. I'm amazed that Mauricio lets him leave without getting what he wanted out of him.

Mansión Malicia: Leo is on the phone to Andres, who is giving her instructions not to let Caty watch TV (Mauricio's orders, not Andres'). He clarifies that it wasn't a "shoot-out" it was just one shot, they're fine, and they're going to go home. We see Azul walking behind Leo. Leo tells Azul that Mauricio and Andres had "a little problem". Seriously, y'all, for a second there, I thought Leo was just evil enough to NOT give the instructions to Azul and let her take the fall for traumatizing the moppet.

Emilia's office: Diego is way freaked. He tells Emilia he can't find Silvana anywhere. Emilia says Gloria wants them to call the police, but Diego asks her to hold off for an hour while he keeps looking. I don't think Emilia knows about Silvana's homicidal intentions toward Mauricio--what she's worried about is that Silvana will kill herself.

Office of Infidelity: Lidia is violently ripping up a piece of paper. Piero comes back from lunch asking if Lidia wasn't with Paco and did they have a fight. She accuses him of having spies. He tries to flirt, but she gets pissed off and says today's not her day. She storms out of the office, leaving a confused Piero. Who probably needs a cold shower anyway.

Mansión Malicia: Mauricio and Azul are talking about the shooting. Mauricio says it wasn't someone shooting AT him, just in the general direction of him and some other people. Smooth. He tells her about the nice guy who saved him from getting shot. The nice guy whose name he doesn't know. Azul says the guy was brave. She's worried that the shooter is still out there, but Mauricio doesn't want her to worry or else they won't ever be calm.

Casa Diego: Diego's on the phone with his boss, explaining that he's got a situation and complaining that he never comes in late or misses work, so his boss should ease up on him. Abuelo comes home just to tell Diego that he's worried about Diego's attitude, what with mouthing off to his boss and so on. Abuelo's worried that Diego will lose his job and he advises him to call the boss back and play nice. Diego says he doesn't have time for this, he's in the middle of a big problem. Abuelo tells him he needs to get out of this problem, since the last thing he needs is to become "un irresponsable" ("an irresponsible").

Emilia's office: Silvana has finally shown up and she won't tell Emilia what happened, but she begs to go back to the clinic.

Casa Diego: Apparently Mama saw Silvana looking nutty earlier, but didn't call Diego because she thought he didn't want her to get involved. He tells Mama that Silvana's in trouble (duh!), nothing serious, but she's very sensitive and he's worried. Lidia comes in and snaps at Mama and then leaves again. Emilia calls Diego and tells him Silvana showed up and he can't see her right now since she's resting (with the help of some sedatives). Emilia tells him Silvana wants to go back to the clinic. Diego wants to see her, but Emilia says she'll call him when Silvana wakes up.

Lidia's room: Lidia asks Mama why men are the ones who define what "our" place is as women. Mama asks if she's starting a feminist revolution or is this because of a personal problem. Lidia says it's because of a personal problem. Mama asks if there's a man in Lidia's life who's not appreciating her and Lidia says it's something like that. Mama says women have always been at a disadvantage and have to fight harder than men, but it's worth the trouble. She asks Lidia never to settle and to fight for what she wants. She says it's easier to resign oneself to mediocrity, but one is never happy. She says resignation is like being dead.

Emilia's office: Emilia touches Silvana's hair and wakes her without meaning to. Emilia wants to know what happened, but Silvana says she'll tell her later. Silvana says Emilia's been good to her and she (Silvana) has behaved badly. She says Emilia isn't the one who should have been responsible for caring for her, it was Emilia's brother, Silvana's husband. Emilia says she thinks Hugo had his reasons and they can't judge him. Silvana says she doesn't want to do crazy stuff anymore, she wants to be well. Emilia says she's got to make an effort. Silvana says a man saved her life today, a pretty man, a knight in shining armor, the boy of her dreams. Emilia laughs and says it's the tranqs talking. Silvana swears it's true--he kept her from killing the monster, that's why he's her prince on a white steed (ah, but death rides a pale horse too, no?). Emilia says she'll leave her to dream. Silvana mutters that tomorrow he'll take her far away.

Mansión Malicia: Azul finds Mauricio out on the balcony. He says he was thinking about her, but she says he's thinking about the shooting. Mauricio says there's nothing for her to worry about. She says she does worry about him. She promises never to leave him alone again and she'll be his guardian angel. She says she couldn't take it if anything happened to him. He says they should enjoy this moment because it's all they have. He's a murdering desgraciado, sinvergüenza, infeliz…but he does have a point.

Warning! Norman Bates and Mother scene coming up: Leo and Andres eat dinner. Leo wants to know what's up, as Andres hasn't eaten anything. He says he had some whisky with Mauricio and lost his appetite. Andres can't believe he's worried about Mauricio since once Liliana died, Andres became Mauricio's favorite victim. Andres says Mauricio treats him badly, as if it's Andres' responsibility to fix every problem Mauricio has. Leo reminds him that Mauricio is their boss and the "owner" of their lives, and that it's because of Mauricio that they are where they are and that they're together. So…in a way it's Mauricio who's responsible for this creepy relationship? Gee, thanks, dude. Andres says it's getting more difficult. Leo takes his hand and places it on her face (ew!) telling him to think about how much she loves him, that she's here to take care of him, that she's his only family and if anything happens to him, she'll kill herself. She kisses his hand.

The next morning: Andres is on the phone to someone, confirming information. Mauricio comes out the door and greets him, noting that Andres is really happy. Andres says he knows who tried to kill Mauricio.

Dun, dun, dun!

Tune in tomorrow, when things will allegedly heat up.

Destilando Amor 08/06/07 "A Disturbance in the Force"

We open tonite with Gavi telling the Jimadors to bring it on, she is one of them. The Jimadors scoff at her, with her fancy clothes and her city ways and her fine, soft hands. It’s on Gavi challenges Serafina & Rosa to a Agave down. Five thousand pesos (slighty less than $500 US) is riding an Agave chopping contest.

Gavi grabs the Agave tool and the games begin…the crowd goes wild, the men are standing around and cheering, certain hawt chick mud wrestling can’t be far off.
Up to the big Hacienda, the Hil replacement tells Rod that Sofie and Frankie have arrived, now he is off to get Roman.

Meanwhile let us stroll on over to Dry Gulch Acres where we see Mr. James calling for Acacia, why now he is becoming worried, he is screeching for her. Oh poor Mr James, Acacia can’t hear you cause she is in "Barn of Many Secrets", where she has lit a candle and is having a bit of a Jersey sit down over the tomb of Meliton. Is it just me or does that pile of rocks seem to get bigger? Anyway she is crying and lamenting over the death of evil Meliton. I mean it really was an accident, she did not intend to kill him, so I’m thinking man-slaughter at the most with time already served. Anyway, James comes in and asute judge of human nature that he is, he questions Acacia. "Que Pasa, Pequena?" Then James actually has the nerve to say "What is that?" while gazing at the "Tomb of the Unknown Incest Committing Uncle". Now I must interject here, could this AssHat be any more worthless? He hasn’t been in the barn in two months? Has he just been at that school teaching other young men how to tie that totally effeminate tie? Go on Acacia…do it the first murder is always the hardest, it just gets easier. But no, Acacia blurts out she killed Meliton. James is horrified…he can’t believe it. Acacia is one blank stare away from a catatonic state. She begs James to understand, she has blood on her hands, but it was an accident. James will not be an accomplice to murder, oh no little missy, you are not getting him involved in that. She begs him not to leave her…but noble Englishman that James is, he stubbles out. Ahhhh good James that you went to Mexico, cause had this been the West of Ireland, you’d be in the bog with Meliton. Damn Acacia wails like a lost motherless child, oh wait she is a lost motherless child. Mr. James, my hate for you knows no bounds.

Now on the lighter side Gavi whipped up on the two Jima girls and she didn’t even break a sweat, see that lugging around fifty pounds of out of print encyclopedias really paid off. It is congrads all around and Gavi tells her CRT guy to go buy bottles for everyone..There is a party goin on right here.

Up to the big Hacienda, Sofie walks in and Frankie kinda slithers behind her. Hand shaking and fake platitudes all the way round, when in walks what I at first mistake for a life size version of the new "Skanky Mama Bratz" doll, but no wait is it our favorite "embarazada ella". Damn she is wearing a black mid top with gold lame embossed design, some pregnant women knit others bedazzle. A totally fetching belly ring (I bet no CZ) there and some low ridin black pants. Girl friend, did someone put a "InStyle" cover over a copy of "Easy Rider" magazine? Hmmm I think maybe Dani & Elvis played a little joke. Rod always the diplomat is like "Que the Hell are you doing here?" Well Isa was tired of being alone (she does a point), so she decided to join the family at the ranch. Rod has the look of a fourteen-year "I never get to have any fun."

Now through the magic of TeleVisa we are transported to Miami, where there is an awesome shindig going on. It is a party with all of Aaron’s who’s who list. Pamela and Fedra come in an Aaron chastes Pamela for being late. She has her Ma & Pa in tow. Pammy’s mother having red hair does not explain that never seen in nature shade that Pammy sports and Pammy is nowhere near cool enough to wear that color cause she is making a statement. I also must add that I think Aaron is being way harsh with Pam tonite cause by the look of her lips she has had some sort of near fatal allergenic reaction. Aaron says he is going to have to go to Mexico and to the wedding of Sofie. Pamela is angry, his own family won’t attend their Wedding and she suspects he is only going to hook up with Minnie. Pam stomps off. Aaron has another slight stroke and orders the maid (this is the same one who was covering for Pam and Aaron), to get his bag ready and find his passport. Pammy sneaks up to the bedroom and takes Aaron’s passport.

Now back to the Hacienda, Gavi is talking to the Jimadors who are enamored with her. She tells them of the dangers of the Agave diseases. Of course the Jimadors want to stop this disease cause what is good for Montalvo is good for them, not to mention that for a work break and free booze they’d listen to George Bush explain his Iraq policy. There was a time when for free booze I too would have listened. Gavi says she has to go, but the people encourage her to stay and drink with them. Gavi agrees she feels at home being with "Her People", can a waving scene off a balcony and an Evita speech be far behind?

Up in the Big House, Sofie, Frankie, & Rod are chatting it up. Sofie says she wants to have a kid in a year. Isa thinks Stupida, I’m thought bubbling the same thing. Isa is sitting silent on the couch. Rod asks her if anything is wrong, but she denies it. James arrives and asks to speak to Rod, he then picks up a bottle of Tequila..he tells Rod he can’t stay at Dry Gulch. Rod hands off the bottle to the ever-present SannnaWanna and escorts James out of the room. Frankie is like "Que the Hell?", Isa answers that James is the former boyfriend of Sofie and James married a poor Campesina. Sofie says they broke up a long time ago and Frankie says the past is the past. You know Frankie after seeing James is totally feeling like the man.

Rod and James are sitting out on the patio drinking Tequila. Would you think, that maybe just once; Rod would STFU long enough to at least ask James what the problem is? But oh no, Rod just serves another big steaming heaping plate of rehashed hash. Rod regales his Gavi tales of how he tries to forget her but can’t finally he is like what do you think? James does not answer, Rod is "Are you listening to me?" Really at this point I so want James to say, "I quit listening like two years and nine months, yet your lips just keep moving." Once again I am disappointed. Finally Rod asks what is wrong, like an afterthought, but James says he doesn’t want to talk about it.

Sofie and Isa are in the bedroom and Sofie’s Wedding Dress, which I shall Dub "The Dress of Future Disappointment" is perched on a stand. James comes in, I think he was looking for the room he was supposed to sleep in. He says it is a beautiful dress, Isa excuses herself and leaves the two of them alone.
Now then I was completely wrong earlier when I said could James be anymore worthless? Cause yes he could and he proves it. James laments his decision years ago not to return to London with Sofie. Sofie is like "Well it is a little late for that", James is all emotional and their hands meet over the Wedding Dress, thankfully James has not gone into a full blown Stigmata and he does not bleed on the dress, but it looks like James is gonna try and cop a feel..Sofie wanting no part of it, other than to twist the knife a bit, is like well it is what it is. She leaves. Gawd I got the Rod asking Isa to get married feeling here. Like hey my marriage didn’t work out, but can we twist like we did in England baby? Really you know I am glad the IRA made peace, but whacking James would a been a most excellent fund raiser.

Now The FrankMaster is out on the patio with Rod, note that while the manly men and manly women drink Tequila, Frankie drinks what look like Brandy. He is telling Rod how the Ranch is just paradise, paradise I say, virtually the Garden of Eden. Well with the way Frankie slithers I’ll take him at his word, (wouldn’t it just be great if he had a little sssss sound when he spoke?), he says how it is so much better than the dirty, smogging, crime infested city. Frankie then queries how do people make a living there. Rod says there are many jobs and names a long and rather boring list. Why doesn’t he just hire Frankie to carry his boom box and flip over the "Songs for My Rod" cassette? Rod says Frankie can stay there…but Frankie does not give him an answer. My husband says he is holding out for more money. Meanwhile during this manly gabfest, Gavi has crept up along with Rosa and Serafina, to gaze upon Rod, the girls having been putting away the Tequila and Gavi isn’t the least bit shy about focusing on Rod. I guess this is what girls do in places where they don’t have a car to drive past Bobby’s house all night. The girls are giggling and Gavi tells them to be quiet. Finally they say, hey we gotta get up early. Gavi just wants to stay and watch. Gavi has apparently forgot that sunup to sundown of cutting Agave is a bit much. Rod moves closer to the edge of the darkness as if he can sense Gavi in the darkness. Finally he goes in and falls on the bed fully dressed, Isa wakes up and asks if he isn’t going to put on his footed bunny sleepers, later he says. Isa can sense a disturbance in the force.

Gavi and her two new best gal pals go over to the "Burned out Shell of Misspent Dreams", the girls tell her that that is where Rod burned the bungalow down. Gavi is tortured by the thoughts of how now the dreams are gone and she is alone.

Back over in Miami, Aaron makes a little, Geez ain’t life grand speech and how happy he is that he is marrying into the fine Tequila family of Pammy. Pammy’s Pa makes a speech about how fine Don Amador was; how he contributed to more cirrhosis than any other Tequila manufacturer. There was not a sober person in the crowd. (did you notice the floor they were standing on was glass and you could see the water below? This probably has a calming effect on Pammy.) Well the servant girl comes back and tells Aaron she can’t find the passport, so Aaron has another small jaw clenching, pig snorting stroke, tears up the bedroom and threatens the servant. Fedra gives the all knowing eye to Pammy. Later Pammy & Aaron (the party is still going on) get into a clench where is grabbing her and threatening her. She accuses him of trying to hook up with Minnie and says he only wants a spawn to claim the Montalvo fortune.

Stay tuned tomorrow looks like a great show, Aaron is sporting sunglasses (covering a drug habit?), Minnie is getting out her best thong underwear, Gavi is croonin in the Agave & Isa does not disappoint in what looks to be a taupe & white stripe baby showing belly top as she confronts the crooner of tunes in the Agave fields.

New Novelas to watch for Fea fans and others

Maricela, one of our faithful readers, writes to tell us that she has stumbled on a rerun of an old novela with Angelica Vale in the cast: It's called "Mi Tele: Amigas y Rivales." It is showing on Telefutura at 7AM eastern time. Also in the cast Ludwika Paleta and our own Rene Strickler (currently on Amar).

I don't get Telefutura, although I get a zillion Spanish stations on my cable package. Darn!

Another new show is just starting on Univision. According to Maricela, Jaime Camil will be appearing. This new show is "Una Familia de 10," (sounds like Party of Five times two). It's a comedy and is showing on Friday nights at 10:30 pm eastern time.

La Fea Más Bella Cristina Special (Part 2) from 7/2/07

Ok, this part is finally done except for the extra conversations from the special. I'll repost when that is done.

*Again photos courtesy of Cristina Online

Cristina greets the audience and says she promised that she was going to continue. Serg says it’s been 8 days. They all wake up and ask if they can go on the air now. They tell Jaime he’s got some sleep crud hanging out of his eye. Angie says she went to the restroom and changed. C re-announces everyone and mentions that Angelica Maria came with her galan, and she says Moty came with his tie on. Ser holds up his hand with the ring from the fea club. Cristina says the public has also been here for 7 days, and we’re ready for our first couple.

She says that Paty is a woman who is cowardly, but knows how to use her beauty, and in real life is an excellent actress and singer, and she announces Luis Manuel as having 25 years of experience as a comedian and he captured us as an ugly guy but very witty. She announces Tomy and Alicia! Paty comes on and says she’s been walking in circles for a week now.

The audience cheers for Tomas, and I think Serg makes a joke that they are saying “tomas” or “you take” probably meaning he should take Paty. Cristina thanks them for waiting a week and says that she saw him in Elvis’s bed. She continues that she hasn’t seen all of the novela, but she asks what did that rooster do with this lady in the bed kissing her repeatedly all over, and that he had an Elvis hairdo.

Paty says now they have changed their look. It’s very difficult to be blond because the whole world envys you, no? So yes, now we are chestnut (brunettes). LM pipes in “and about the bed…” he says how do I explain. We did many things..Ser interject “in bed” and LM continues where we should and we enjoyed ourselves a lot Ser again “in bed” and when we were “in bed” we were very happy “in bed.” Paty says there was a lot that you didn’t see.. C says “in bed.” Ser says on the tv.

C says how did this couple so mismatched come about? During the taping they cut here to adjust the chairs of Paty and Luis Manuel, you can see how they moved them over to the left. I think it was because of the lighting. Cristina reread the question, and they continued. This was the only interruption during the whole taping.

LM says really it was the producer because she was the one who suddenly decided to put us together, and besides he had seen already a little how the casting would go and right from the start he played with Angelica and they had just met at the beginning of the novela and had never seen each other before the novella, but the chemistry started right away.

Ang inserts, “yes, it was something really magical because I remember my first scene I taped with the club of feas, but I only walked into the restroom and said a few things and that was it, that was the first day, but the second day I had some scenes with LM and it was instantaneous, we saw each other and started to act and we started to play a little with el Profe and at that moment I identified with him as my brother, as my best friend, and to this date it has stayed that way. LM continues and after that, playing with “La Vale” and to suddenly be with two of my idols Angelica Maria and Jose Jose, was something just marvelous. Everything was flowing together very nicely and then suddenly they told me that my character was going to grow a little more, and that I would be acting with this beauty by my side, so I said to myself, wow what is going to happen! And Paty inserts, and it did happen! He says yes it did.

C asks so then what happened? Paty says well many things happened. “But, really, believe me also, from the first moment that Luis and I had done our first scene we knew that very beautiful and entertaining things would come out of it.” She said TV has had many personalities that were very opposite but still very much the same at times, and so we put them together and made witty scenes and we enjoyed it a lot and people received it very well, so to have these personalities together in scenes really was a pleasure for me, it was a pleasure to work with everyone, but especially in the scenes with Luis we enjoyed them we’d plan them, and read them, and we’d talk and ask each other what the other thought, and that’s how we got it.
C – In bed. P- Yes, of course in bed.

C-Asks what percent of you is in, well I know that that tone of accent is from where you come from. P – Yes, that’s where I got it. In Culiacan I have many friends and they speak in this manner, “ Hey, grouuuup, leeeeet’s geeettttt gooooing, come onnnnn…like this…and so then that’s where I got Ayy Maaaarcia!!!! From my friends, in Sinaloa from Culiacan.”

C turns to Ser and says he was telling her off camera that he put into his character a lot of shades and colors of his personal life, the way the character looked. How much did they let you decide and do?

He says that was Rosy, a great assurance that she gave us. This novella allowed all of us to contribute and decide, for me I was allowed to the chance to choose the look, and choose the outfits for Luigi, and his manner of speech, and stick in lots of things that weren’t in the script, and I enjoyed this form of improvisation, playing with my colleagues, meddling in many things, including mentioning other television colleaugues, and even all the way to the Televisa executives, even politcians and political jokes and others. Paty interjects that was the freedom that we were all given and that was the base of the success the things that we all contributed. Ser continues, see, look what they got with the Ay Marcia or the famous mimisqui, that everything gave me a mimisqui, el Guapitsimo, Ange interjects the "Hoooolaaa!" and "Adios" and Ser says yes all those things, see how great! So at the time we were making the scenes suddenly there were things that I didn't want to say that I was going to say or do and suddenly were improvised, and then there were others that they cut me on and would say nooo, noo. C- says too much in English, and he says yes, they were too much , but it would make me laugh to do it!

C says talk to me a minute about the event in Monterrey. Luis looks up at the ceiling and says wow and Cristina says the whole world look, wow. Ser says those girls were there and he points to the Fea club. C continues how many people were there, like 300,000 people? In the actual event yes, but in the streets about a million. Jaime starts well, the governor said, and these are the gov's words not ours, that they don't want to alarm us but there are as many people or maybe more as there were when the Pope came. We didn't believe him we thought he was making a joke. Ser says imagine that comparison! Jaime continues yeah, that's a great joke, Gov., and suddenly there were a million people and at the concert over 250,000.
We arrived after we finished with the parade in the cars and we all turned around to each other and without saying a thing, looked at each other's faces like, you saw what I saw, right? We lived that right? You were there too, right, I'm not crazy? I didn't imagine that right? OK we all saw the same thing, yes? Ok.
Luis Manuel says yes to see the faces of the people light up when they see you, trembling and Paty continues and the kids grabbing your hand and crying, it makes you cry too. It was quite an emotional exercise. Ange continues that she ended up with her voice hoarse because she was always saying Hooolaaaa, as if anyone could hear her anyway with all the screaming going on. Obviously no one could hear her, but yes, it was really emotional.

Ser said yes and for the governor to make that comparison as to when the Pope came for his parade and his route, and to see the people in every little spot along the route, what an impression to see something so beautiful like that, you saw it in the final last week, it really was just impressive.

Cristina continues so because of that, it's important to understand when you have such an unprecendented success like this and in this moment when you are under the lights with the microphone in your hands, the messege that you leave is really important. She turns to Luis Manuel and says that he told her production staff that his character's teaching was very beautiful, would you like to comment more on that?

LM says well, yes, Tomas showed that you can get something that appears impossible like getting close to Alicia, but he finally got it because of hard work and perserverance and if you are very very patient. Paty interjects, yeah and if you have money. :)

The foundation that stands out of those values that we all have but are sort of hidden, was that Tomas had that patience, that calm to say that one day I will get close to my chiquita, and she did give in. That's wonderful.

C continues, Paty you have risked a lot, you do everything, including even coming and co-presenting my show, you've done it all. At the begining, you were one of the first people that they put in the cast. Paty said I never auditioned, she says she's not sure what they saw in me that told them this, but I was always Alicia from the beginning. C continues, and there were a lot of naysayers that said this wasn't going to go anywhere, what did they make you want to say to them.

Paty says, it was a pleasure for me, actually I saw part of the original novela and of course I knew about it's success and I was enchanted with the story, and with this character so I told them right away that I'd do it. But yes there were those people, colleagues, that said those poor failures, they are in a novela that nobody is even going to watch, not even their Mom. But what a surprise. Angelicia says my Mom watched, and Jaime says mine too. Paty continues yes and to feel that change when you go into the office and every one comes and says wow, how did they do that.

C turns to Luis Manuel and asks him how this will reflect on his career, for example, because he's been doing comedy for years, with Derbez, los Peluche, his tours, you have your club, how will the success affect you? Will you charge more, be in more magazines? What...

Luis says well the reflections stand out, one never really imagines something like this, I used to work in a bar and maybe there were 30 people, and that was a huge entrance for me, less than what's here now even, and suddenly there are millions seeing me, yes at first the responsibility is great, as we were saying, many people are listening to you and know what you say, and the message that you send is very important, like that you have to have your feet on the ground. We are sure that our careers are going to succeed, and the foundation of that has been cemented for quite a while, so you have to see this as a change that you are going through, just like any chapter in life, enjoy it now, but...Paty interrupts and says yes, see this as just one more step in your career take it positively, but there are still many more and that the best is still yet to come.

Ser says here is something important, we are always fighting for success with our projects and we always hope that our projects go well, but this isn't all there is to life. It's very short lived, suddenly you are there thanks to the public of course, that's logical, but tomorrow there will be another novela, and we won't be the ones sitting here, there will be other artists, and we'll be looking at them on TV saying wow, I was in that moment too, so simply enjoy it, but don't suppose or believe in it because when you suppose it, that's when you lose it, and later when you put your feet back on the ground that's reality.

C says she has two proofs in this studio of exactly what you are talking about, Senor Jose Jose and she holds up the CD of Jose Jose's duets, and Angelica Maria, and she holds up the book about her career and says she's read it, and marvels at what a career she's had. C says it may not be that difficult to get here, but the key is knowing how to stay here, and she thanks them because this event has been a Gala simply by virtue of their presence with us today. She announces that Saimon and Paula Maria are coming up. She mentions they will talk about why all the girls that get on his Moto have a hard time and about Niurkas photos taken as God brought her into this world.

They are a couple that are "de ampanga" as said in her country (Cuba) and they are happy, dancing, wisecrackers and don't mince their words, (pelos en la lengua), well maybe we'll leave that on the tongue (leave it unsaid). In real life Julio Mannino is an actor chameleon-like, who brings intensity to every role that he portrays, and Niurka Marcos is a consecrated vedette gradually stepping into the acting world and giving us faith in the characters she played in Salome, Velo de Novia, and now La Fea Mas Bella.

Of course they come out and Julio is dancing behind her holding on to her skirt. Niurka says she told him to hold it so he wouldn't step on it. C says off camera your new boyfriend isn't Mannino is it? He's Cuban no? She says in a strong Cuban accent, sorry but no, yes, it's the Mulato who fills my tank!

C says that's what I like to hear. Ok, so tell me about this novela that is filling us up, we've done two weeks in a row, we've been waiting here 7 days for this...

Julio starts that he's very content and happy to be working with people so talented (Paty says thanks and they all laugh) to find myself after 8 years again with Paty Navidad my friend I hadn't seen for 8 years, Jose Jose whom I admire, Angelica Maria, la Vale (Angelica hija), Camil, people very talented from whom I've learned so much and had so much fun. Niurka says and me? He says you are another thing altogether my precious. They all laugh.

Niurka says no it was really a team, I heard my colleaugues back stage on the monitor and we all speak the same words, with one voice and this is going to sound repetitive but it was really marvelous. I got into a cast, and this is really important to me, but this was a cast in which not even the leads felt or acted in front of us like leads, they were like our siblings and they helped us to act, they helped us participate, none of this, don't touch me, or don't come into my dressing room or nothing like that... there were some times when Jaime was carrying his uh...C says Vodka, Jaime says Chai, no Ron, Niurka contnues his chai and I would stand in front of him with my mouth like this (open) looking at the cup, she turns to the public, only the cup, and he would ask if I wanted some, and I would say thank you.

Niurka continues, people so humble and for me it was really a rich experience to work with such beautiful people and this galan that they put with me (pointing to Julio) this man is dynamic, active...C says Mannino is very sexy...Niurka says no besides even how he dances and his acrobatics and his means (they way he did things), it was such a marvelous team with the Profe (may he rest in peace and wherever he is, he's listening to us with pride) but this novela didn't just give the public happiness and crack them up, but it did it to us too!

C says they say you fell one time on your back with your feet up in the air, Niurka says yes with my feet up in the air. Paty says yes we both fell one time. Niurka says, that was another time, and then they all sort of begin talking at once and Niurka says he threw me off the Moto, Paty says another time Tomy and I fell and not in the bed, and Jaime pipes in who gave you driving lesson anyway (he did), and Ange turns to him and says well they didn't work very well because I fell once too and hurt my thumb. C says let's talk about the Moto. He says yes, I was terrified every time I had a scene with the Moto because I didn't know how to drive it!!

He continues the first day of taping was a scene with Niurka where I had to take her home and I started it up, grabbed it, revved it and shattered it in pieces with a tree, and I went flying and Niurka grabbed hold and fell just this way. She says she could see the tree was coming in front of them so before it gave us a blow she jumped and hurled Mannino with the moto and everything and I fell just like this stopped (standing with feet apart). They then start talking about when Ange fell and Paty says he broke your back, no? Julio says no I didn't break her back. Ange says no, my finger, I hurt my finger and I have problems with it, and well, now I won't be able to imitate you any more Cristina, she says saying good luck and bending her finger like Cristina's signature move. Cristina laughs and smacks her on the back with her cue cards.

Julio says Jaime gave me lessons. C says but you never rode one before this? Julio said not in years, since I was 14, and C says ok that doesn't count. There are two things to say about Julio Mannino, one is that he's never done a comedy. He says no I never had. She says he's a virgin of two things then, of comedy and of Motos. Double viginity.

Julio says yes I had come from a trip to Europe I was living for four months in Spain, Madrid, and I came back and went to Televisa one day and Rosy Ocampo saw me and said I have an idea I'd like you for a character, and he said ok, great, and she said it's a comedy, and he said pardon? Cristina says Excuse Me and he says yes, excuse me in English and he continues well, I told her no I'm a serious actor....and everyone busts out laughing. He says well at least I thought so, and Niurka says you thought wrong. C says well this shows you besides being a serious actor you are also versatile. He says, yes. She says ok, but you are still a monkey (silly, and also a saying about being the same underneath even if you gild it).

She says for all the ladies that are watching, he's going to Italy to take Gourmet cooking classes. He says yes, I love to cook, I'm going to Florence to take some cooking lessons, he said he'll put on the side Simon and acting but in a little while when I get back then I'll invite all of you to dinner. C asks if he has a partner, he says no, he's single, but he'll improve his character he swears. C says well all that's missing is that after you learn how to cook that you find a great partner that let's you stay in the character that you have tonight! She says when we come back we'll meet the woman who never adjusted to an ugly girl taking her boyfriend and the greatest womanizer in the plot, well next to Jaime, Omar.

Cristina introduces Elizabeth as the person for whom the saying "the luck of the ugly girl desires the pretty girl" came true and Agustin as another role quilted in the fabric of this novela as the womanizer Omar.

They come out and as he greets everyone she says to Agustin what do you have that all the men are coming to blows with you and he says that's because they all want to be like me. I think she is refering to macho greetings he is getting from his colleagues. Jaime tells Cristina to ask them if they've ever been on the show before. Cristina says they have never been? She turns to Liz and Ag and says in all these years you never came on the Cristina show before? Liz says no, never, this is our first time. I think Cristina says that was her weakness. She says and what did they tell you? Liz says nothing really, as you said this is our first time here and I am very happy, I am very proud to have worked with a super cast in such an excellent novela and with such a marvelous audience like all of you.

Cristina says that Elizabeth said that they called your studio, the studio of laughs because even though you worked 18 -20 hours a day it was still like depraived fun on a bicycle (lewd sort of entertaining. Liz says yes it was like a party, completely a party. Ag continues what we did behind the curtains, believe me... Ange chimes in "pichiti un bombito" and Ag repeats the cheer, and says really what we did behind the scenes was much worse than anything you all saw on the screen. Ange says yes, it was much more entertaining. Ag says yes and there were times when people would come from outside of the project to visit us and they would say you people are crazy and Paty adds it's a mental ward, Ag continues crazy, between the shouts of the cuartel, setting up trinkets or ...

Ange says what they don't know is what the cuartel's dressing room had. Yes, my friend, and she points to Niurka. She continues all the guys of the cast gave to the cuartel, well, in the dressing room of Rosita Pelayo and Niurka, posters, like this big, enormous, Sergio gave an enormous poster in this kind of a muscle pose, (Niurka says nude) nude, and Jaime too, nude, and Niurka says like this we asked, nude, and Camil was in such a nude pose with a divine profile and I would sit like this, looking at it like this, and she leans her head all the way back. Jaime says, yes but you could see anything on the bottom half. Niurka tells him to make the pose, he says no, no, and everyone chants do it! So he gets up and pretends to start taking off his belt and then he doesn't. {I think this is the same pose that we've seen the picture of where he is standing sideways}

Niurka continues, imagine that is how I relaxed. All I had to do was this (and she leans back again) and looked up and down. C says meditating you were meditating. She says yes, meditating. Ag continues yes really we entertained ourselves too much. It was incredible to be a part of this beautiful group, I was just listening already, that we all said the same thing that we shared these moments together and they are going to be a wonderful memory that we will all carry with us in each of our lives, and that there has been a lot of time that we haven't seen each other, some of us, well others of us are still seeing each other of course, but others not and for me it is such a pleasure to see my colleagues, and I really enjoyed every moment that I lived during this telenovela.

C asks if they will ever have an experience just like this one? Everyone says no! Paty says never and Elizabeth says it would have to be the same exact cast.

C thens says that I have here that your character was cynical, manipulating, but nice, does this sound something like you? Paty says exactly. Elizabeth jokes that he is the same, he's not acting, he's just the same. Agustin continues that yes, that's why I was so lucky to get to play that I meet so many chicks in the novela. He says no, the only thing I can say is yes, I have a lot of Omar Carjaval , Elizabeth says, nah, he continues and I think that all of us in the end as the novela was stretched out and we conformed to that, each character came closer to what we each really are in person, and in this case, without being a womanizer....C interrupts, are you a womanizer? You have been in a couple for 12 years now. He says no...C looks toward the audience and I think Ange says ask his girlfriend if she knows any of this.

He says well if not, you know what my girlfriend will say... On the sidelines Ser starts saying something and Jaime shouts out no, not you precious, his other girlfriend, the one in blue, and Ser says oh, that got past me again. Agustin continues in a whiny voice, later she'll take me by the ears and tell me "what you said made me look like the biggest fool." Someone asks what happened to him? C looks at his girlfriend and asks her he's imitating you like that to your face? She says no, he's still being Omar Carjaval, I have nothing to do with that, he's not Agustin Arana. C says if my husband did that to me I would attack him with my bag. He tells Cristina, she attacks me worse, don't worry about that. Angelica Maria says she's high class. He says, really I can't speak about people unless I'm imitating them, that happens with me all the time, that's just how I am.

Cristina continues seriously that it says in her cards that he has a business breeding and raising dogs, German Shepards. Agustin continues that from them he learned his growling snort.

Behind her talking, Ange and Jaime are still laughing, I think about what Agustin said and something related that Sergio was doing on the side there. I'm not certain, it may have been here, but Jaime and Angelica once could not stop laughing for the longest time, you could tell they were trying to not make any noise, but they didn't seem to be able to help themselves from cracking up while the show was still going and of course the camera didn't go to them.

C says that Juan Soler and his family also breed dogs in Argentina, labradors and they gave Omar a female named Pampa and me a male that's named Max, he's already three years old and he's beautiful. She says Juan we miss you, because you too haved married into our family. Everyone yells yes! Cristina says Luis Manuel will do something special for his chica when we come back.

During this break is when I think Jaime and Agustin walked around to the audience and I got to say hello to them!

When they come back Luis Manuel sings to Paty a song he also sang at the Monterrey concert about Alicia to the tune of Elvis Presley Don't be cruel. he says it's a world hit even though he just wrote it a few minutes ago.

The words to the song are as follows:

In a photo I saw you,
and my heart skipped a beat,
I knew nothing more,
but your face captivated me,
What a woman,
I am your admirer.

Later came that one day,
I showed up at Conceptos
and there you were in front of me,
like a passionate dream,
what a woman,
heaven sent you.

When we got to the altar,
the whole world was surprised,
and on the wedding night,
because the bride went to sleep,
what a woman,
that snores and snores.

no matter how much it's feigned,
her bad girl's heart,
is totally a bluff,
What a woman,
heaven sent you,
My chiquita and me.

She who has denied my love,
until now when I wooed her,
What a woman,
My chiquita and me,
Chiquita!

C says it's very good and asks if Paty is happy, and she is. She says, huh and he just sang to someone who fell asleep on their wedding night.

C says they now have a surprise for Niurka, Ana Pardo, the manager of Playboy Mexico, is here with us to recognize Niurka, and she's going to tell us why and what for.

Ana gives her a plaque of three Playboy covers and proceeds to explain that the three issues are first the edition from Mexico, and then when the other countries licensed found out, they said they wanted Niurka too, so they did an edition in Venezuela, and later they did a special edition with unedited photos of her and with that they got the highest sales record. Cristina picks it up and says this one broke all the sales records for Playboy in Spanish.

Niurka says this is just as important for her as it was for Playboy, it was really a challenge for her to do this project and she was really nervous at the beginning, but one puts themself in God's hands, that everything will turn out ok for me when I started, and I never thought that it would go as far as Venezuela, Puerto Rico, even here in the US via internet, and that you would choose this program to recognize me. Thank you.

C says in the next segment we are going to have some music, Niurka is going to change and sing from her new disc La Emperadora (The Empress). She says that both Niurka and Sergio did a music video with Ivy Queen. Niurka says that Ivy is a wonderful lady and she invited Ser and I to do her video and she wasn't sure we would be able to come because we were so busy, but I'm really pleased with our collaboration, it was wonderful and she tells the camera as if it were Ivy Queen that when she finishes her tour and Ivy finishes hers they'll get together and create a wonderful fusion. Ser says and he'll join as menage a trois. Niurka says yes, that's it, you can rap, I've heard you, he says yes I rap.
During this break, the guys, notably Jaime and Agustin and Ser rushed up to the stage and were paging through those issues of Playboy that Ms. Pardo brought and making animated comments to each other about the photos etc. It was quite funny.

Before Niurka jiggles all over the stage in her thong, C mentions that Paty is doing a project with Juan Soler, and Paty mentions that in this he is like the half brother of Luigi, and Ser smiles and makes a funny Luigi face.

Acorralada #141 – Friday – 8-3-07 - The Party is a Bust!!!!

Princess Fi is making out with Alejandro. She tells him she can give him what Dimwit can't. Dimwit's a poor fool, but I'm a W-O-M-A-N! She then asks him to take her to bed. The scene ends with Alejandro leading Princess Fi into the bedroom.

Dimwit is entering her bedroom. She asks herself if Alejandro and Max are the same person.

Alejandro is shirtless and Princess Fi is in bed. The make-out session continues, but since this is day-time TV, Alejandro is on top of the covers and Princess Fi is under the covers when the scene ends.

Yolanda is having coffee with Pasta and complimenting him on his coffee-making skills. He says it's not uncommon for a guy to know his way around a kitchen. Suddenly Caramel bursts in with her clothes in tatters. She tearfully tells Pasta, Puncho raped her. Pasta demands to know where Puncho is so Pasta can kill him. Caramel refuses to tell him (and Yolanda concurs.) They don't want Pasta to get in trouble over such a low-life as Puncho.

Puncho's little ex-con buddy (sorry, I can't remember his name) is yelling at Puncho for raping that woman. "That's not a woman, that's my wife and I love her!" They squabble a few minutes, after which Puncho says Caramel can never leave him. NEVER!

Caramel tells Pasta that Pasta was right when he tried to tell her what a low-life Puncho is. Puncho is disgusting! Pasta runs out the door to hunt down Puncho and kill him. Yolanda tries to comfort Caramel. Caramel has never seen Puncho so violent in her life!

Doc V is talking to Marcela. I've not been able to watch or read the recaps for about a week or so. She's a new character from my standpoint. Apparently her Godmother, Dona Mercedes, is blind; but Saint Alejandro is apparently going to pay for the miracle surgery that will give her the gift of sight. Saint Alejandro seems to have just met Marcela and her family, but is already going to help her out. He must have taken a lesson from Diego on Amar sin Limites.

Pasta bursts into Lala's house looking for Puncho. Alas, he's not there. He tells Lala that HER son raped HIS daughter. Lala is impactada! Pasta then swears he's going to kill Puncho. Meanwhile, Lorenzo, newly shorn and shaved, appears with some red roses for Lala. He wants to ask her out. Lorenzo and Pasta are surprised to see one another. Pasta leaves and Lorenzo proceeds to start asking Lala out. He refers to himself as Marlon Brando. Lala says she's got enough problems with her dopey sons and doesn't want to add to them with another man in her life. Lorenzo tries to convince her, but she hands him back the flowers and sends the poor guy packing.

Princess Fi is gloating about her passionate afternoon with Alejandro. Octopus doesn't really care. Marfil says she doesn't care, but thinks to herself that if Alejandro is truly Max, she's going to kill that vixen, Princess Fi.

Alejandro is in his pajamas and calling Dimwit. "Tell me you've been waiting for my call. I need to hear your voice." Dimwit says how vain he is and denies she's be waiting by the phone. He then asks her to join him at his little soiree the next evening. After Dimwit hangs up, he comments that she has no idea what surprise awaits her tomorrow.

Alejandro then calls Princess Fi. She's more than happy to join the party tomorrow. Next on the list is Iggy. Alejandro tells Iggy to invite Camila as well. "No problem," says Iggy, "We'll be there." After Alejandro hangs up, Alejandro says, "Dimwit, Dimwit, Dimwit. You're going to pay for your betrayal." Next on the A-list is Diablo. Alejandro says he's sorry for the problems between them. Alejandro should have respected that Dimwit was Diablo's wife. He wants to make peace, and to show he has no hard feelings he invites Diablo to join the party. Diablo says he'll be there.

Iggy tells Camila she's invited to the party. She's skeptical, but agrees to go.

Caramel and Emili-Oh are shuffling around the hospital. She asks why he seems so sad. He wants to know if Caramel went to see Puncho. Caramel says no. Emili-Oh asks her to tell him the truth. Again, Caramel denies it. She says she never wants to see that sinverguenza ever again! At last, Caramel speaks the truth!

Fidiota is trying to counsel Mocosa. Fidiota wants Mocosa to play nice with her daughters and make friends. Mocosa has no intention of doing any such thing. She accuses Fidiota of stealing her father's affections. Clearly this heart-to-heart is going nowhere fast.

Alejandro starts greeting his guests and make excuses as to why they are there. First to arrive are Camila, Iggy, and a very skeptical Diablo. Diablo's got a chip on his shoulder the size of a concrete block, but the bonehead still shows up. The doorbell rings and it's Dimwit showing up in her Swiss Miss outfit. She is impactada to see the guests who have already arrived.

I believe Nurse Dulce is trying to talk Marcela into marrying Doctor Valladares. This makes no sense because Doc V and Marcela didn't seem to have much of a relationship when they talked earlier. I also have a sneaking suspicion that Marcela is in love with Alejandro. That would be in keeping with the show to date, in which virtually every woman is in love with Max/Alejandro. Personally, I'd much rather have Rene and his dimple. Dulce is trying to tell her if she marries Doc V, all her problems will be solved. Marcela agrees, but says she doesn't love him.

Fidiota is still trying to convince Mocosa to play nice. "After all, we all have to live together in this house." Mocosa continues to play the role of martyr. She just wants to make up for the time she lost with her father. Fidiota leaves and Mocosa laughs evilly.

Dulce is trying to make Marcela feel guilty for not getting Dr. V to marry her.

The natives are getting restless at Alejandro's house. Dimwit starts to leave and Alejandro takes her aside and says he just wants everyone to get along. He begs her to stay. Meanwhile, in the other room, Marfil, Iggy, Camila, and Diablo, are all trying to speculate why Alejandro brought them together.

Marcela still refuses to marry a man she doesn't love, even if it would help her situation. Suddenly Dr. V walks in. He wants to earn Marcela's love. She asks if he was listening; obviously he was. He then takes Marcela's hand and asks her to give him a chance. Sappy violin music plays in the background. He then asks her to marry him. He could make her happy. Ugh!

Fidiota and Little Doormat are having a spot of tea. Fidiota is trying to defend Mocosa; she's just unhappy because of the cards she's been dealt in life. "Try to be understanding. Be the bigger person and be nice to her." Little Doormat opines that as long as Mocosa is at the house, no one will be happy.

Roddy is confiding in Granny M that he doubts things are going to work out between Mocosa and Fidiota. Y' think?!

Camila is in Alejandro's bedroom looking for proof that Alejandro and Max are one and the same. In walks Dimwit. "What are you doing here?" asks Camila. Dimwit replies, "The same thing as you." Camila wants to know if Dimwit also suspects Alejandro is really Max. Of course since they hate each other, no one wants to admit anything to the other. Alejandro walks in and Camila says she was looking for the bathroom and ended up in his room by mistake. She runs out. Alejandro asks Dimwit if she was also looking for the bathroom. Dimwit says, "No, I'm trying to determine if you are truly my lover, Max." Commercial.

Dimwit demands that Alejandro look her directly in the eyes and tell her the truth. Alejandro, that weasel, can't do it. He turns his back to her and looks at the camera instead. Dimwit repeats the question and the Orchestra of Doom plays.

The coven is hanging out in the living room when Camila walks in. Diablo wants to know where Dimwit is. Camila says she's talking to Alejandro, but they are not kissing. Diablo still wants to kick Alejandro's butt. He rushes towards the room, but instead of bursting in, listens at the door. Alejandro is now looking at Dimwit and saying he is not Max. Max died years ago and she needs to move on. Dimwit says her head says he's not Max, but her heart says he IS Max. Alejandro swears up and down he's not Max. There are so few characters on this show that I truly like. Frankly I think Dimwit and Alejandro/Max are both morons and deserve one another. My disgust is interrupted by Diablo bursting into the bedroom saying he's been looking all over for Dimwit.

Fidiota and Roddy are kissing in Fidiota's office at Perfumes 'R Us, when Mocosa comes bursting in. She throws a tantrum about being Gaby's assistant. Fidiota and Gaby are trying to humiliate her on purpose! Mocosa yells she's at least gone to college, yet Gaby has only been a servant. It's not fair. Roddy says Mocosa has a point. Fidiota says Gaby's just trying to show Mocosa the ropes. Mocosa's temper tantrum gets louder and louder until she throws all the emails and photocopies on the floor and stomps out. Fidiota is furious that Roddy takes Mocosa's side. What a bunch of detestable characters.

Pasta is bemoaning the fact that Fidiota is married to Roddy. Yolanda tries to console him.

Dulce and Marcela are talking about the results of Dona Mercedes' surgery. They'll soon know if the surgery worked. I believe Marcela is waxing poetic about Alejandro who agreed to pay for the surgery without knowing her. In walks Dr. V. He wants to know if Marcela thought about his proposition. Marcela replies, "Now is not the time for me to give you an answer."

Marcela is wandering aimlessly outside her Godmother's room. She flashes back to when she first met Alejandro. She was crying about her Godmother and Alejandro comforted her. She then gets this dreamy look on her face, with a big smile, and keeps repeating Alejandro's name. Blech!

Diablo repeats that he's been looking for Dimwit. Dimwit states she's talking with Alejandro. "In his bedroom?" asks Diablo. Dimwit snottily replies she can talk to anyone she wants, anywhere she wants! So there!" Alejandro suggests they all return to the "party" in the living room.

Diablo and Dimwit start bickering and Alejandro excuses himself to get more drinks for this happy crowd. Diablo and Dimwit have the usual argument. Diablo says Dimwit is his wife and Dimwit replies only in the eyes of the law. "I hate you with all my soul!!" Dimwit tells off Diablo in front of everyone and storms out. Iggy can only repeat, "Wow!" Camila tells Diablo, "Apparently Dimwit isn't digging you any more." Diablo tells Camila to shut up. He doesn't want to hear her commentaries.

Mocosa is plotting something with Kick Me when Fidiota walks in. Fidiota says she's been thinking about what Mocosa said. She is going to give Mocosa a different job. Mocosa says "Great, I've always wanted to be the president of this company! But obviously that's not what you're going to say." Mocosa says she wants to have the same last name as her father. Fidiota says she's going to talk to Roddy about adopting Mocosa and giving her his name. That way everyone will be happy. Mocosa spews venom saying she doesn't need Fidiota playing the intermediary with Roddy. MEOW!!! HISS!!!

Lunkhead is swimming laps in his pool and Octopus is leaving a message for Iggy to call her. Lunkhead asks her about Iggy. He doesn't think Iggy is right for her. Octopus snaps at him saying she didn't ask his opinion. She likes Iggy and she can see whoever she wants. Besides, Iggy has changed. Octopus changes the subject and says she likes the idea of Lunkhead dating Mocosa. Lunkhead thinks to himself (hard to believe, but true) that Octopus wouldn't be so supportive if she knew Mocosa was Roddy's daughter and Fidiota's step-daughter.

More nastiness between Fidiota and Mocosa, with Fidiota refusing to rise to the bait. After Fidiota leaves, Mocosa mocks her.

Alejandro is grousing to Pedro. When Alejandro returned from the kitchen, Dimwit had left. So much for his plans of vengeance! Now he's not only accusing her of cheating on "Max" with Diablo, now he's accusing her of cheating on "Max" with "Alejandro." The fact that he's still married to Marfil and doing Princess Fi on the side seems to be lost on him. Pedro tries to say that Dimwit loves him, but Alejandro is bent on vengeance. He truly is Maxi-Moron!

Camila is sprawled out on the sofa trying to figure out what's going on with Alejandro. She needs to get on Alejandro's good side, even if it means betraying Diablo and Iggy. She doesn't want Max to know she had anything to do with the fire. Iggy asks if he can get her a drink, but Camila announces she's going out and runs out the door.

Alejandro runs into Marcela at the hospital and wants to know how Dona Mercedes is doing. Marcela advises him the bandages will come off tomorrow. Marcela is all but throwing herself at Alejandro's feet in gratitude. Marcela should stick with Doc V; he's a much better man!

Dimwit is telling Sylvie about the strange evening at Alejandro's. Dimwit says she's beginning to suspect Alejandro is really Max. Sylvia gasps! Suddenly the doorbell rings. In bursts Camila. She wants to know if Dimwit thinks Max and Alejandro are one and the same!

Credits roll.
