El Talismán #54 Mon 4/16/12 The Pills, The Memory and The Search

Previously on El Talisman:

Doris and the Notary are talking about the info that Doris wants.

Today on El Talisman:

Flor is thought bubbling about Army. Pigorio comes in and wants to know where her sister Fabi is. Flor tells him Fabi is at a friends house. He wants to know where her parents are, she says she doesn't know. He wants to know if Doris had plans and again Flor says she doesn't know.

Lucrazy and Tonio talk at El Tal about their plan not working. Aunt Patty comes in and asks what Tonio is doing there? Lucrazy tells her he just came by to see her and since when is that a problem? Tia Patty tells him to get out and that now that Cameela and Pedro have reconciled, it will be hard to break them up. Lucrazy and Tonio are not happy.

Mariana takes a taxi to the beach and thinks about why she can't remember things and about Pedro; is he good is he bad? She wants to remember.

Pigorio and Valentin talk about Mariana. Pigorio wants to get rid of Mariana, calls investigator who still doesn't know anything. Valentin tells Pigorio that Pedro went to LA to find Mariana, but Pigorio tells him nah, he went to see his friend Margarito.

Fabi comes back from the hotel and Pigorio asks where she has been? She won't say and doesn't want to talk about it. He asks where her parents are, she doesn't know.

Army and Angel are talking and Army tells Angel he is a coward for not telling Flor he wasn't Jose. Angel tells him he needs to tell Flor the truth.

Flor and Fabi are talking and Flor tells Fabi she saw Jose right here and that he is such a good boyfriend.

Dr. Manuel Bermudez, who I will be calling Manuel, goes home and notices Magaly/Mariana is not home. He calls her cell but she doesn't answer. He thinks about all the places she likes and then remembers she loves the beach. He goes to the beach.

Tonio goes to Pigorio's bedroom and takes some pills from the bottle on the nightstand. As he looks on the bed, he sees Doris' mask or teddy, couldn't tell which and is incessed that Pigorio is bringing ho's into the house.

Cameela and Pedro are still at the beach, they spent the night there. Pedro tells Cameela she is beautiful and wants to marry her very much. He wants to spend the rest of his life with her. She says you are still married. He says he will take care of that., and she asks him if they are now engaged?

Mariana is talking to herself on the beach. She remembers Pedro telling her about Cameela and she wants to know who Cameela is.

Cameela and Pedro see Mariana at the beach. Cameela wants to go talk to her, but Pedro says leave her in peace. They can't see who she is.

Mariana is praying for God to give her peace and here comes Manuel to the rescue. She is very happy to see him and tells him she wants to go home. He puts her in the SUV and drives away. Cameela and Pedro chase after it, cause they don't have a ride, but Manuel and Mariana don't see them.

Here comes Padre Sebestian. He wants to know if they have reconciled and are they happy? They tell him they are engaged and very happy and he gives them a ride.

Toni is thought bubbling about doctoring the pills, when Doris comes in and asks him what he is doing there, he asks her the same thing. She tells him she has been looking all over for him and tells him she will give him that divorce tout suite. He is so happy, he picks her up and kisses her, she is shocked. He can't wait to be divorced.

Army calls Fabi and she answers. They make a date to meet at school.

Manuel and Mariana are talking. She says she really wants to remember her past, especially Pedro. Is he good, is he bad?

Maria comes to El Viral's room in the hosptial. El Viral is back to her nasty self. She has stopped the piteous crying. Tia tells her to pack her stuff and come with her to the apartment, but El Viral is on the hunt for Rennie and money and doesn't want to I think. El Viral wants to know if this is revenge from what happened in the past?

Cameela and Padre Sebastian are having coffee and she tells him about Yenny and the job offer. Padre wants to know who this Yenny is, but Cameela says she has to call her, cause she isn't taking that job since her and Pedro have reconciled.

Meanwhile, Lucrazy is threating Yenny. She has her by the hair when Cameela calls. Lucrazy answers and tells Yenny she better make it good. Cameela tells Yenny since she has reconciled with her novio she will not be needing that job, as Lucrazy listens in. Lucrazy keeps yanking on Yenny's hair and Yenny keeps talking to Cameela. After Cameela hangs up, Lucrazy finally lets go of her hair and says Cameela has MY man, and Yenny tells her so sorry so sad, but he is with Cameela!

Pedro goes to see Margarito and tells him he brought Claudio with him. Margarito is so happy to see Pedro. He tells Pedro that Mariana is alive and he has seen her. Pedro wants to know where, but Margarito says we should go outside so I can talk to Claudio before he leaves. They go outside and Margo talks to Claudio who isn't happy. Margo tells him he is sorry for being such a coward and not seeing him all these years. Claudio listens but then walks off. Margo is not happy. Pedro talks to Margo some more about Mariana and Margo tells him he will take him to someone that knows her.

El Viral and Tia Maria are still talking. Something about Tia Maria telling her if if wasn't for their sainted Mother she wouldn't have helped or tolerated El Viral. She says El Viral has to live with her concenious.

Mariana prays to the Virgencita about finding out about her past and Pedro.

Pigorio is at Madame Brigitte's. The notary comes and gives him a new false will to replace the one Tonio tore up. Pigorio warns him again not to say anything to anyone. He leaves and the Madame comes in. The notary says, wow you have alot of secrets especially Doris being Katherine and being married to Tonio and working here. The notary looks like he is going to blackmail her.

Tonio goes to see El Viral with the pills and he tells her she will have to doctor them up again. She doesn't want anymore to do with that, but he puts her in a chokehold and tells her she better or he will go to the police.

Padre and Cameela are still talking, she tells him she called Yenny and canceled that job. She tells Padre she is jealous of Mariana.

Pigorio is on a horse and meets Panchito. He tells Panchito about how he got the new false will and that Tonio and Lucrazy will never get anything. Panchito reminds him that he is his son too, but Pigorio just laughs and says El Alcatrash is mio.

Bawwww!

Army and Angel are unpacking at the apt and they talk once again about Flor knowing what he did with Flor and that he is a coward and she will never forgive him. He says meet with her and talk to her. If she loves you she will forgive you is what Angel tells him. Angel tells him if worse comes to worse blame it on your Mom's plan.

Margo and Pedro go to the place that Margo told him he could meet with someone who knows Mariana. It is Dr. Manuel's Office. Margo tells Pedro good luck. There is a PI that is taking pics of Pedro and Margo. This PI calls Pigorio who says I could care less about his friend, get me pics of Mariana. Pedro goes up to the office as Mariana is going down the hall, they miss each other. Pedro goes into the office, introduces him self to Dr. Manuel and tells him he is looking for Mariana. This is where we end.

Pepe takes a look at it and 'La Guerra' flirts with Pepe, Frida is not happy. La Guerra figures this out and tells Frida to go for it. Ana is home and Lupe attempts to talk to her. Lupe tells Ana everyone is worried about her especially Pancho. She says she is ok and goes to the bathroom. Lupe finds the diet pills and is very upset. Lupe wants to know why Ana thinks she's fat, and why she keeps eating nothing but salads. Ana tells her she is fine and to leave her in peace. Lupe tells Ana she wants to help her and that she loves her.

Isabella goes to Pancho and tells him there are inconsistencies in documents Lambi gave her. Rebe comes in and meets Isabella she is not happy to see the auditor is so pretty. Pancho tells Rebe he wants to invite Isabella to the house, and Rebe isn't happy but says ok.

Enzzo meets Isabella and Jimena. They are all taken with each other. Isabella wants the fiscal info from Enzzo. Jimena is quite taken with Enzzo.

Ana goes to the kitchen and binges on food. Chucha catches her and Ana asks Chuca not to tell her Dad.

Lupe goes and talks to Tomas at the gym where he has been working out about the diet pills and Ana. They are both very worried.

Meanwhile, Ana is at home in the bathroom throwing up all that food.

Isabella is on the phone with a guy named Raphael, and she is screaming at him about how he doesn't respect her, doesn't love her etc. Pancho walks in and she apologizes to him. He says he came into her office because he and Rebe are inviting her over tonight. She agrees.

Moni and Kari talk. Moni tells Kari that the seperation from Pepe probably caused their breakup and Kari tells Moni Freddy doesn't love her.

Freddy and Pepe are talking and Pepe tells Freddy that Pancho wants to talk to him, cause Ana isn't doing well. Freddy goes to talk to Pancho and Pancho tells him of Ana possibly having bulimia and how she keeps saying she is fat. Pancho says he needs Freddy to help with Ana. He feels Freddy is the only one that can help her. Pancho tells Freddy Ana needs him now more than ever. Ana is having a dizzy spell. Freddy can't beleive Ana has bulima, and promises he will talk to her. He goes upstairs to her room and knocks on the door, but Ana refuses to speak to him.

Lamberto and Katita are leaving Avon for the evening and Lambi offers Katita a ride home. She is very happy. A police car pulls up and the Federales ask Lamberto if he is Lamberto. He says yes. They arrest him for tax evasion. He is shocked!

There is something wrong with Ana and she is in the hospital.

El Talismán #53 Fri 4/13/12 Kisses and More, The Caper and Memories

 Previously on El Talisman:

Pigorio and Tonio are arguing about Alcatrash and how Tonio and Lucrazy will never get it

Tonio has flashbacks about Pigorio abusing him as a kid.

Today on El Talisman:

Pedro and Claudio are in a car on the way to LA and they are talking about Mariana and going to see Margarito.

Yenny and Lucarzy meet, Lucrazy wants to know if Yenny followed the plan. She says she will and Lucrazy thought bubbles how she will be spending the entire night with Pedro without interruption. Yenny calls Cameela and tells her she will have to go to LA tomorrow and meet with the personnel director named Gloria Espinosa. Cameela says she can’t wait to go and is very excited. She hangs up with Yenny, Lucrazy and Yenny have essentially sent Cameela on a wild

Goose chase to a boss that doesn’t exist and by that time Lucrazy will be pregnant with Pedro’s child.

Cameela goes to the hospital and tells El Viral she is going to LA tomorrow for the job. El

Viral is not happy, but Cameela tells her we already talked about this.

Padre Sebastian calls Pedro on the road and tells him the orphans are coming from Mexico.

Angel and Army talk to Cameela and Tia Maria is there too. She insists on getting a plane ticket for Cameela and Angel makes the reservation. Army and Angel conspire to go to Alcatrash that

Night cause Fabi still isn’t answering Army’s calls.

Cameela runs into Tonio’s lawyer he tells Cameela he is finally free but in a lot of trouble. The lawyer tells her about the lawsuit Rennie is bringing against Tonio. She feels bad and calls Tonio and apologizes and says it is all her fault that Tonio is in all this trouble. She hangs up and tells the lawyer she is going on vacation.

Fabi and Flor talk about Army and how Fabi wants to meet him at the hotel.

Father Sebastian has flown to LA and runs into Cameela at the airport. He tells her about the orphans and why doesn’t she go with him. She says ok.

Meanwhile Lucrazy is in Pedro’s bedroom dressed in slutty attire and thought bubbles what a wonderful time her and Pedro will have tonight.

Army and Angel storm the gates of Alcatrash, well they attempt to, and almost get caught by Valentin. They hide out and don’t get caught and they get onto the grounds. In the meantime,

Fabi is dressed in a very short green dress and goes to the hotel looking for Army. The receptionist tells her he isn’t there. She is bummed and thinks he doesn’t love her anymore. Meanwhile Angel is caught by Tracy and Panchito. Panchito tells him to go home. Tracy and Panchito go inside and Tracy thinks this is Jose for Flor and goes to tell Flor who gets all excited and does her hair, she is almost out the door and Army runs in and she thinks he is Jose. He is telling her to be quiet so he can tell her something. (I think he wants to tell her about the stunt he pulled on her) but she wants a kiss. He runs out and meets up with Angel who are caught by a really mad Tonio. He tells them to get out. Tonio is mad cause he met with the lawyer who told

Him that Cameela went on vacation. He wanted to know where, but the lawyer doesn’t know. Tonio gets in his car and drives off.

Padre told Pedro to meet him at the beach, where there is a beautiful table set with plates and glasses and candles, Pedro is QTH when here comes Padre Sebastian and Cameela. The Padre

Tells Pedro and Cameela he set this up so they could talk and work through their problems. Cameela and Pedro are not happy but the Padre tells them to work it out. Cameela asks if Pedro has his cell phone, he doesn’t and Padre tells Cameela if you don’t want to stay then come on with me. Pedro and Cameela argue and stay there as the Padre gets in the taxi and leaves.

So Pedro and Cameela are stuck and accuse each other of betraying the other with Lucrazy and Tonio while they drink a nice bottle of champagne. Suddenly Pedro asks Cameela if she loves him, she says yes with all my heart and he tells her he loves her too, and the next thing you know they are kissing and doing the deed. They are very happy afterwards.

Tia Maria meets Sarita and Rafa . They tell her about Cameela and Pedro being together and how they set this up with Father Sebastian.

El Viral has another meltdown in the hospital. She wants to know where Army is and why is she all alone, etc. Tia Maria finally comes in the room to calm her down.

Tonio called Lucrazy just before he left Alcatrash to see what was up with Cameela and where is Pedro. Lucrazy says she will find out. She runs into Tia Patty who tells her that Cameela and Pedro are together in LA. Lucrazy is hopping mad. And here comes Tonio and he tells Lucrazy so much for your brilliant plan.

Pigorio is at Madame Brigettes. He sees the notary and tells him he wants a new will like yesterday. Pigorio tells Madame Brigette that Doris is his. The notary goes into one of the rooms and it is Doris with the mask on (sorry don’t know her alter ego’s name) and she tells the guy she do lots for him if he gives her the info she wants. She unmasks and he is astounded to see it is Doris.

Mariana and Dr Bermudez are still talking. He says he is glad he found her and she is like the daughter he never had. I believe he said he never married and was happy at least to have her as daughter. She asks him why she can’t remember anything that Margarito said. Dr. Bermudez tells her maybe she doesn’t want to remember. He leaves and she is thinking and all of sudden she starts remembering her marriage to Pedro and when she was in the hospital and Pedro was talking to her. There is where we end.

Monday on El Talisman:

Pedro and Camella see Mariana on the beach and Mariana sees Pedro.

Abismo de pasión #25 04/13/12

Tropicana Orange Chick (Carmina) has just asked Dr. Whipped (Edmundo Tovar) to falsify the blood test. For some reason, she doesn’t want her husband (Agosto), the bi-focal led geriatric version of Clark Kent to know that Elisa is really his kid. At first, he refuses because he and not Superman are buds. Tropicana, not liking that response, gathers her gear and tells him goodbye. Dr. Whipped yanks Tropicana back into his arms and begs her not to leave. The door opens and Paloma, Dr. Whipped’s employee enters the room to witness the lovers in an “embrace”. The doctor demands to know what Paloma is doing there. At first Paloma tries to come up with an explanation, but then says she doesn’t have to invent anything because she saw some unusual things happening outside of the doctor’s office. For instance, it isn’t every day that one sees an orange woman with blond hair and rather large breast implants, sitting in a horse drawn carriage outside of a doctor’s office. Based, on that….I probably would have followed her too. Tropicana tells Paloma that she was only there to discuss the results of a test. Paloma doesn’t buy that story and leaves. Once Paloma leaves, Tropicana and Dr. Whipped argue and blame each other for getting caught. Tropicana explains to the doctor that his employee is the best friend of Elisa! Frantic, Tropicana says that she doesn’t want a scandal and doesn’t want to lose anything. The doctor says that he will talk to Paloma, but Tropicana says no. She will talk to Paloma. I think she also tells him that they are definitely over and rushes out of the office. The doctor looks worried.

I don’t know what the next scene is about. Forgive me. I haven’t watched a telenovela weeks and I am very rusty! My cc isn’t working that well and I am helpless without it. I’m guessing the dialog. If I’m wrong….PLEASE CORRECT ME! In the kitchen is a man name Braulio who is wearing a black and white plaid shirt with a lovely snake-skin neckerchief. Tacky. Just tacky. He wants to know where Vincente, his son is. Tona, the female, says that she thinks the boy went to the plaza. Tona is making tea for Alphonsia, who is sick. Braulio leaves to search for the boy.

After learning that Tona is taking the tea to his mother, Damien takes the tea and tells her that he will deliver it to his mother.

Vincente is in the plaza smoking a cigarette with some friends when he is discovered by a friend of the family who is wearing some sort of Mumu. As she begins to yell at him, Vincente’s friends abandon him. Braulio arrives and starts yelling at his son, but the woman lies about why Vincente is there. His father tells him to go back home and help his mother. Vincente turns and gives the woman a big thank you smile. During this scene, it becomes very obvious that Braulio is extremely attracted to the woman in the Mumu. In order to break the sexual tension happening between the two of them, the chick in the Mumu stops her friend Horacio (who happens to be walking by) and pretends that they have plans together. She grabs his arm and he escorts her away.

Damien and his mother are lounging in bed together. He wants to know what’s wrong with her. He’s such a good son. So attentive to his mother. I should show this scene to my son. She tells him that she sad. He’s going to Mexico in the morning. He’s got work to do. Whatever their talking about, it must be very important because extremely intense orchestra music is playing in the background. She wants him to stay another day or two for her. He says he’s got stuff to do in Mexico.

In the next scene, Elisa is hanging up her white dress. You remember! It’s the cute one that she was wearing when her father slapped the taste out of her mouth for daring to be at engagement party. After hanging up her party dress, she picks up a music box and the sound of the music brings on a flashback scene of her as a child with her mother. I think she asks her mother why she’s an only child. Because we only wanted one, says her mother. Oh my gosh! I’ve only been watching this show since Monday and since Monday, this chick has cried every day. Either I missed a lot or she’s premenstrual. She says something is her fault. I really don’t care what it is because I’ve decided she’s a whiner and I don’t like her.

Horacio and the chick wearing the Mumu are finishing their meal in a restaurant. Horacio asks her about her relationship with Braulio. She discounts the relationship because he’s married. The waitress hands Horacio the check, but he doesn’t have enough money. The chick in the Mumu pays the bill. Horacio is quite the catch.

Oh, this might be interesting. Tropicana visits Paloma and threatens her. If she opens her mouth about what she witnessed at Dr. Whipped’s office bad things will happen. She may have told her that it would look bad for Elisa if everyone found out that both her mother and her aunt slept around on her father. It would destroy him. Tropicana even threatens her grandma with a ‘’terrible accident”. Grandma walks in just then. Commercial.

At Dr. Whipped’s home, Agosto and Dr. Whipped discuss the upcoming paternity test. Whipped looks extremely uncomfortable. I don’t know if it’s because he feel’s guilty about sleeping with Agosto’s wife or if it’s because he is going to falsify the paternity test for Tropicana. Agosto also wants to know about the tests that Tropicana took. Whipped discusses Tropicana with the Agosto. Let me just say that this is a clear, ethical and legal violation of her rights. Someone should alert the American Medical Association and have him disbarred or de-doctored! Tropicana, we learn, is suffering from depression, but has recently trying to work on her marriage. Whipped says the results should take about 15 days. I don’t know if he was talking about the DNA test or Tropicana’s tests. Hmmmmm. Begona, Whipped’s wife comes out to tell Agosto goodbye.

Gabino and Horacio meet somewhere. I was wrong. I guess Horacio is a gentleman after all. He tells Gabino a woman had to pay the bill. He needs a job. He wasn’t happy about that. He tells Gabino that he was looking for him earlier, but couldn’t find him.

Damien tells his fiancé, Florencia that he wants to stay some additional days with his mother because she’s not feeling well. His mother asked him to stay and he’s not going to deny the request. In the process of packing, Florencia protests. She tells him that he thinks about everyone else but her. He asks her to stay there with him, and then he tries to seduce her with a kiss (in real life, that only works on men).

Tropicana and Elisa are somewhere outside near a big tree. It’s late, but Tropicana’s boobs are still out, still fake and still big. Tropicana asks Elisa if she has spoken with Agosto. She informs Elisa that her father wants her to accompany him to Whipped’s office in the morning. Elisa tells Tropicana that she is very worried about Tropicana’s health. She said that her health is what the visit is all about. When Tropicana turns to leave, Elisa stops her and asks what she told her father. She is referring to the night that her Agosto, slapped the tastes buds off of her tongue at the engagement party. Remember? It’s the night she was wearing the white dress and Damien molested her in the horse stable. The horse stable with one horse. Anyway, Elisa wanted to know how Tropicana knew where she would be. I think Tropicana told her that Paolo Laducci told her where he’d seen her or something like that. Tropicana tells Elisa to find a husband because she tired of supporting her. They are going to Whipped’s office in the morning. Elisa goes back home and Tropicana looks pleased.

Elisa is walking home when she is stopped by Gabino. He’s insults her father (yeah, that will impress a girl), so she slaps him. Don Lucio, her godfather comes to her aid, and Gabino gives him a good beat down. Lucio is bloodied and unconscious lying in the grass. His wife thinks he’s dead and screeches out his name. Commericial.

Gabino stands patiently by whilst the women try to assist Lucio.

Damien and Florencia tell her father (Guido) that they will stay a little while longer because Damien’s mother isn’t feeling well. Seriously, my son’s name is Erik. Get him a copy of this episode. This is how sons should feel about their mothers. Anyways, Florencia and Damien are practically sitting on top of one another. They hold hands and present themselves as one unit and one mind to her father. She caresses her fiancé’s cheeks and chest. He father wants Florencia to leave with him. Florencia explains that she and Damien want to stay together. She prompts Damien to say something in agreement. “Verdad, mi amor?” Damien clears his throat and struggles to get the word “si” out as if some is strangling him. He lies and says that his mother would love to have Florencia stay with them. That lie required all of the strength and acting ability that he could muster up. He’s just a straight man who wants to hang around him momma and if Elisa happens to be in town and accidentally falls into his bed while he’s taking care of his momma, he was only doing what a good son should do. He didn’t actually say that, but I’m sure that’s what he was thinking. Her dad says that people will talk and he doesn’t want to her reputation ruined. Damien doesn’t look like the type of guy that any girl could want to stay a virgin around for too long. I think her father has missed that boat. She assures him that she will be safe. Guido leaves and Damien thanks her for staying. They will only be there for two more weeks and she makes him promise that they will not be apart.

A terrified Elisa bangs on Whipped’s door. Begona, the doctor’s wife, upset about the banging, opens the door. Without asking Elisa why she's knocking like that, (I think) Begona tells her that this is a decent house and instructs her on how to knock on a door. Basically Elisa tells her that this is no time to lecture her about her family. She demands to speak to Whipped! After hearing the shouting, Whipped appears. Elisa vomits out the entire story! Gabina whupped up on her godfather! She begs him to come with her. Where is he? Blocks away and her godmother is afraid! Hmmmm. She’s run “blocks away!” No one called the ambulance yet? While the Whipped hurries to get his bag, Begona asks if it’s true that Gabino Mendoza beat down a defenseless geezer. Elisa confirms the story. Whipped returns with is bag, but no car keys or saddle (so I assume he doesn’t have a horse) or anything that would assist him in getting to the patient quicker than on his two feet. Neither the doctor, his wife, Elisa or don Lucio’s wife has called an ambulance as far as I can tell. The doctor has chosen to run “blocks away” as well. Certainly, by now, don Lucio is seeing the pearly gates of heaven.

Paloma’s abuela wants to know why Tropicana was in her house. OK, I am just going to throw this out there. If you don’t agree with me, please let me know. Is the actress that plays abuela on the wrong show or did the make-up people make a mistake? Clearly she looks like an extra from the Planet of the Apes. Don’t judge me! Rewind the tape and look closely at her costume. OK, forgive me. Back to the recap. Grandma knows that whatever the reason for Tropicana's visit, it can’t be a good one. Paloma keeps her mouth shut.

Tropicana has obviously taken some etiquette and poise classes, because in the next scene, we see her sitting in a chair like a tramp. Her mother taught her well. OK, she was in the privacy of her own bedroom, but I don’t want to see all of that. She and Agosto discuss the upcoming paternity test. He tells her that he went over to Whipped’s house to stress the importance of the test. He also tells her that he and the doctor discussed the results of her test. Agosto is concerned about Whipped…he seems so insecure and restless. He wants to help his friend in any way that he can. Whipped has done a lot for the family, he says. Tropicana tries to change the subject by tempting him with sex. He rebuffs her and tells her that he has to take a shower first. Gosh, he is so spontaneous. Now I know why his philly has been jumping the fence.

In the next scene, Paolo tells Guido that he wants to stay with Florencia. He doesn’t want to go back with Guido. I may have misunderstood this, but I think back at home, Paolo was accused of messing with or violating an underage girl. He says it’s his word against hers and then there was something about a son. He swears on the memory of their parents that he never messed with the girl. Guido doesn’t understand why his brother wants to stay in that one horse town if the allegations aren’t true. Paolo says various reasons. He may want to get a job or something. Guido smells a rat. He reminds Paolo has been mooching off of him for years. He points out that Paolo doesn’t like to work. He is employed by Guido and gets paid for doing nothing. Paolo agrees and tells him that that’s exactly the reason he wants to change. He’s tired of living off of Guido. He’s gonna try to get a job in the morning. He asks his brother to give him a chance and let him show him that he’s changed. I think Guido tells Paolo that he has to do well because he will be on his own there. Commercial.

At the hospital, Elisa is trying to comfort her Godmother. I supposed that someone finally called the ambulance to pick him up. Elisa blames herself, but Godmother says the blame lies on Gabino. He’s always hated Don Lucio. She promises to make Gabino pay for this. A nurse comes out to get Elisa and shows her into an examination room. Elisa wants to know how Don Lucio is doing. The nurse tells her that the Whipped is on his way. Whipped enters the room and tells her that Don Lucio is getting X-rayed or something. He wants to know her blood type. He tells her that he has to take her blood because Don Lucio may need a transfusion if he has to have surgery. He wants to see if she’s compatible. He tosses her into a chair and he is going to draw the samples himself. He promises not to hurt her. She looks concerned about the size of the needle.

Tropicana is at home in bed. She is worried because she needs the blood of Elisa. She’s been lying for years and wants Agosto to continue to believe that Elisa is not his.

Back at the doctor’s office, Whipped completes the blood draw and writes Elisa’s name on the vial.

Tropicana jumps Agosto, the sex machine, as soon as he enters the bedroom. He wants to stop and lock the door. She assures him that they are completely alone in the house. I don’t agree with adultery, but I’m starting to understand why another farmer plows his with his mule.

Back at the hospital, the doctor tells Elisa and her godmother that the X-rays went well, but Don Lucio is still in a coma. They will have to wait to see what happens. Godmother is having a nervous breakdown in the waiting room. The doctor tells Elisa to try to keep her calm. Godmother tells Elisa to go home and get some rest. Elisa refuses to leave her, but agrees to call home.

Gael tells the priest that he is going to start working for Agosto again. The priest tells him how proud he is of him. Gael goes to bed and reminds the priest to turn out the church lights.

Guido visits Alfonsina (Damien’s mother) bedroom. She has been pretending to be sick and jumps into the bed, fully made up with jewelry and her shoes on. Guido gets hops on the bed with her. This is the strangest custom I have ever seen. Everyone has been in her bed today. He has come to tell her that he is going back to Mexico in the morning. He tells her that his entire family is gonna stay at her house. She’s say’s really…it’s not necessary that everybody and your dog remain at my house. He agrees, but tells her that Paolo wants a job. She says that he will begin work tomorrow.

While the priest is turning out the lights, a woman named Ingrid enters the church and introduces herself as Gaels mother.

Credits!

Sorry. It’s been a while. I am very rusty.

La Que No Podía Amar #78 Friday 4/13/12 If Gollum Had a Sister Her Name Would Be Cinthia, or Much Ado About Something

Lo Del Pasado:

Cinthia has badgered Ana Paula with the fact that Gustavo found out Rogelio’s whereabouts and has gone to tell him about her being pregnant with Gus’s baby. It’s the last straw for pregnant Pau.  Sin’s eyes positively sparkle with malevolent desire as Ana Paula’s angst translates into severe cramping and she collapses in pain.  Paula begs her SIL to fetch Maria but Sin just stands there, visibly quite overjoyed at the prospect of Ana Paula’s possible miscarriage and even worse.  The Cupcake is apparently in too much pain to notice, however, and more’s the pity.  In the D.F., meantime, romantically inclined Rogelio believes Gus has come all that way to the hospital to ask for Sin’s hand in marriage, tho’ nothin’ could be further from the truth!

Lo Del Nuevo:

Ernesto has heard Pau screaming and raced into the room and to Paula’s rescue.  He looks over at the immobile Sinthia, sees her hard-hearted glower and is incredulous-impactado at her apparent inhumanity.  (It remains to be seen if Ernie will believe his lyin’ eyes and get the word to Gus.  Viewerville starts taking bets.)

Ro-Hell and Gus begin discussing the water situation and how David refuses to comply with the Commission’s ruling to remove the dike.  Gus gets a call on his cell before he gets a chance to mention the real reason he came.  On the phone, Ernie tells Gus the bad news and that the baby might not make it.  Cara de tell-me-it-ain’t-so de Gustavo.  Gus excuses himself by dodging Ro-Hell’s questions, i.e., fibbing to say there’s an urgent family matter—but, no, nothing to do with Mercedes.  He says he’ll get back to him and then leaves for Hell-Fuerte.

Ernie, Rosaura and Maria are all three hovering in Ana Paula’s bedroom.  Maria wants to tell Rogelio (--bite your tongue, woman!), but Rosie frantically intercedes  with an emphatic NO! She reminds them all that if ro-Hell finds out Ana will never get the bed rest the doctor’s ordered.  Works for Pau and she says nix telling Rog that she’s sick—let alone why.

Esteban drops in on Vanessa to discuss the dicking dike and how she’s involved with it part deux –er dos.  She artfully gets him off balance with a jab at his manhood and poor choice of female Nessa make-do’s.  He starts huffing and puffing then and wants to know why Big Dave told him she is also part owner of La Negra and involved in his plan to dike up the river.  “—Is it true you only bought the property to be near Rogelio?”  Nessa tells him that with the problem of the Clenbuterol she needs a second cattle ranch to get her stock from –like his or even her own ranch if it comes to that.  Steve jealously screams a machisto “I told you so!” about Ro-Hellio.  He then gets hold of himself and wants to know why if the ranch is David’s, it’s in her name and why Dave’s the one giving the orders there.  Nessa lies and says she did it to insure he paid her back the money he borrowed from her to buy the place with.  Steve seems to swallow it whole.  Doesn’t even ask for a glass of water.

At the same time back at Hell-Fuerte, Rosie and Maria gripe about who’s going to cook and who’s going to watch over Ana Paula.  FF>>

Outside in the hallway, Sin comes bouncing up to Maria to see if Pau had lost the baby or not.  Maria says no and pray to God it doesn’t happen, but she’s really ill and the baby could die.  Sin fairly salivates at the idea—unbeknownst to the tired Maria.

Vainessa obviously has poor Stevie’s machismo number, and she continues playing Dumb’n Sexy to perfection.   He, trained to perfection like a Pavlov puppy, continues reasoning with his 5th appendage.  (Obviously she’s just as sure that if she goes to court over this she can convince the judge in the same way.  Speaking of which, when was the last time we ever saw a female judge preside in Telenovelaland, hmmmmm?)  “—Esteban, I’m innocent.  Just because my name is on the deed doesn’t mean I had anything to do with that.”  He finally summons enough upper gray matter to warn Vainie that for her own good, since her name is on that deed as owner, that if Dave doesn’t take that dike down as ordered it’ll be her ass that’s on the legal hot seat.

Meanwhile, Gus gets hold of Mercedes on her cell and tells her that he didn’t get a chance to tell Rog about the baby after all.  She says it’s probably best he doesn’t either.  “—Things happen for a reason.”  He asks her to forget her personal feelings and take care of Pau for him.  (Yeah, b!tch!  Remember? You’re a nurse, ya know, a Nun of Nightengale.)  She squinches up her nose at the detestable thought but says fine--not for AP’s sake, but for Gus and her future nephew.  (She is so totally high-school it makes me retch.  Speaking of high school, pardon me while I indulge.  What’s up with the black peep toe heels and white socks, eh, Mersnottys?)

Back at Hell Fue’te, Sin is making Bro-Hell’s office a bit more “cozy” [acogedor], before brandishing her own whip “Thwap!”  at Bruno, and commandeering Bro-hell’s leather-lined throne for her own.  FF>>

In the meantime in metro San Gabriel, Efrain and Macaria are having a rendezvous in the park.  She says she’s heard from Consuelo that Effer’s in love with a woman he can’t have.  Could that woman be me, asks the pitiable Macaria.  Not a chance, chuckles Effer, since between them it has always been for personal entertainment, a bit of diversion.  (Looks like Macaria is having a hard time believing her own lyin’ eyes where this jerkwad is concerned.  Can’t say as I blame her, tho’, considering poor, homely, honest, dull, and boring Ulises is all she’s got to head off to bed with every night.  Jes’ sayin’.)

Sin tells Bruno first thing she’s going to do is call a meeting of the employees, just like AP did, to make sure they know what’s what and that she’s the only true “patrona” of Hell-Fue’te despite Rog’s royal decree [disponer = royal decree i.e., with kings].  Paula’s about to abort, she tells him, and Bro-Hell’s not around, so now the only one able to take charge here is her.

Macaria tells Effer she’d leave everything for him, but Effer doesn’t care.  The cad reminds her he told her from the first it was only a friendly, fun romp ‘n roll.  She wants to know who the woman is if it’s not her, then.  He asks her why, since it wouldn’t change the kind of relationship the two of them have together.  She’s better off making up with hubby Uli, he advises, or else Uli’s going to start to suspect something.  Take care of him and then the two of them can meet up again there tomorrow for a little bit more of rock’n rolla slap ‘n tickle.  Macaria. desparate to change the answer she keeps getting, kisses the rascal good-bye and agrees to meet him again.

Bruno now asks if Sin has bothered to think what she’s going to do next.  She says she’s going to marry Gus and claim her inheritance.  No, no, clarifies Bruno, I mean in taking control of the hacienda.  It’s not as easy as you think.  Well, she snickers, if Paula could do it, she can too.  He reminds her Paula was getting pointers from Rog.  Oh, so she’s now supposed to get instruction from Bruno in how to handle a load of farmhands?  He flippantly replies that it’s nice to see she recognizes how much he knows about the way this place works.  He can even advise her about the business with the clenbuterol.  Naw, Sin says.  They did what they intended with that when whoever planned that wrecked Rog’s deal with the Americans.  Sure they won’t bother anymore with it.  Maybe not, says Bruno.  Well, says Sin, she’ll cancel Ana Paula’s order to keep watch over the cattle any longer.   “--Yeah, but it worked pretty well,” says Bruno.  “—Yeah, but the damage is already done since the Rancher’s Association wants to throw Rogelio out of office now.”   Bruon offers to leave immediately to find out what he can about that and get back to her on it. Bruno fairly clicks his heels as he pays “homage” to the new hellion of Hell Fue’te.  “—Patrona.”  He fakes a cool smile and calmly walks out the door.

We beam to another part of downtown San Gabriel, to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, where Michael is thanking Dani and the people in the group for their moral support.  They offered when almost everyone else in town still considers him Maripaz’s murderer and an untouchable.

Back in AP’s bedroom, Ms. Mercy is nursing Pau.  Paula tells her she knows Ms. Mercy would have rather it be anybody else in the world but her making her an aunt.  Mersnottys tells her boy, has she got that right!  If it weren’t for Gus asking she wouldn’t touch her with a ten foot pole!  She changes the subject to let her know that for now Gus didn’t tell her husband about the pregnancy.  Under her breath, tho’,  Mersnottys tells herself that still, it won’t be long until he eventually does.

In town at the plop ‘n shop, Connie listens to Uli pour out his heart over missing Maripaz and worrying over Macaria.  Connie tells him to cheer up and eventually all will get back to normal.  Uli leaves. Thug Guy, Rutilio, walks up and starts harassing her.  She gives him grief.  Eventually Effer comes walking down the street towards them and the creepy pervert takes a hint and walks off--for now.  Effer mentions he’s the same guy that was molesting Maripaz in Tuxtla a while back and he had to come to the rescue [estar al quite= to help out, help dodge something/someone] and scare the creep off.   Effer’s letting her know about this so she can keep her wits about her [estar a las vivas] next time.

That night, while Pau prays to the diosito not to lose her baby, Rosie and Bruno are hissing angrily over Paula’s endangered pregnancy, and that it’s led to Sinthia’s usurping control of the hacienda and ultimately putting a wrench in their plans.  Rosie is all in a snit. “--The best thing that could happen to Paula is for her to lose that baby!”  Bruno reminds her she’s talking about her grand-nephew.  Doesn’t matter a whit to Rosie who hates the sound of that term and how oooooold it makes her feel.  Well, says Bruno, whatever, but if Paula’s going to lose that kid it better be now or else!!  “--Sinthia’s taken control of things here and she’s going to make it impossible for us to continue with our plans!”  “—No way!  We won’t let that happen!  We’re going to get what we want no matter what it costs!”

Back at the plop ‘n shop, Uli yells at Macaria for stealing the letter and the papers with it that Margarito’s mama left in his care.  Macaria denies knowing anything about the letter being stolen.

Effer’s dropped in for another bit of midnight delight with Sinthia.  Sin says she’s the one giving orders now at Hell Fue’te, but Effer wisely reminds her that as long as her SIL is still alive and kickin’ not to be so sure.  With that in mind, what’ does Sin want him to do with her little “pet”?  Does it go in her room or in Rog’s room?  She tells him to hang on to the snake just in case, but since Paula may abort soon they may not need to use it after all.

Mikey and Dani discuss his success with his first AA meeting.  FF>>

Macaria swears she didn’t take the letter.  Uli’s really showing a sweat and tells her this is serious business.  Who else could it be if not her?

Out front, Connie runs into Dani and Mike heading home and tells them about the creepy man that has been harassing her lately.  “—Maripaz told me Ernesto saved her from this guy once and I figure it’s the same guy because she told me about the paliacate [brightly colored scarf] he had tied around his neck.  He did the same to me today.  Efrain told me he was bothering Maripaz in Tuxtla also.”  Mikey asks if he’s from Tuxtla or what and why he’s in town.  Connie explains that Macaria told him he works for Bruno.  Dani’s surprised, she says, since she works for Bruno and doesn’t know the first thing about the guy.  Mike wonders if she thinks he might have had something to do with Maripaz’s death.  (Duh! Duhn- Duhn-Duhnnnn!!!)  Perhaps, says Connie, so since the’re still investigating it, she thought they should know.

The next morning Guscakes finally there at Cupcake’s bedside.  She wakes up and sees him standing there.  She’s mentions she’s worried about the baby.  He swears he’ll do anything to keep her from losing it.  Both are totally out of their minds with worry and cry over the possibility “their” child might not make it.

In town, Big Dave and Bruno are knocking back a couple of beers again.  Bruno asks Dave if he hasn’t had his full of Sinthia and Nessa about now.  (Viewerville certainly has!  Absotively and posolutely! )  yeah, says Dave, and he can’t believe they aren’t thrilled that he’s the villain here, and covering for them.  Dave swears to Bruno that he’ll never take the dike down!  Rogelio is going to pay with blood as far as he’s concerned.  That means his next order of bidnez is gonna be Paula!  She’s the center of his world, obviously, agrees Bruno.  “Look at the money he paid you to keep his BIL out of jail.”   Dave brags that when the guy’s fat and happy then he’ll tell Paula the real story.  Bruno wonders what he’s talking about.  Big Dave proceeds to explain that her brother never stole any truck from his company.  It was all just a ruse of Rog’s.  He asked Dave to go to the police and falsify charges against Mike.  The insurance could have easily paid any damages and all the hospital bills.

Back at Paula’s bedside, Gus tells her the anxiety over losing her and the baby has been killing him.  She admits she felt the same way when she found out he’d gone to tell Rogelio the truth.  Gus apologizes for causing her so much grief and for leaving her in her time of need.  He’ll never leave her side again, ever!

Dave continues telling Bruno the real story behind Mikey’s forced incarceration.  Paula always knew her brother was innocent and simply on company business making a company delivery when the accident happened.  Bruno is whuddayaknow-impactado and asks if Dave can prove it.  Sure, says Dave.  He has both the original documents and the falsified ones safe in a lockbox in his office.  Bruno laughs at the rude surprise Paula’s going to get especially now that she’s fallen in love with her husband.  He warns that if Dave’s going to do it he’d better do it before Rog is able to walk again, or he’s going to prove to be a more capable adversary than ever.  Dave doesn’t understand.  Just what does Bruno mean by “walking again”’?  Yeah, says Bruno.  “--He’s having an operation and we’ll have to be better prepared.”

Sin is in the hallway near the doorway to Paula’s room.  She manages to eavesdrop in the shadows on the touching, three-hanky scene while Gus tearfully apologizes for pressuring Pau the way he has and then offers to step aside for the health of their child.  Sin goes into seething mode at the sight of Gus in tears, his head on Pau’s lap, and Paula’s hand lovingly caressing his (omg! Jeri-gooed) hair.

At the same time Rogelio, in his hospital room in Mexico City, is daydreaming about married life with Paula as a new man, one who can again stand and walk: they’ll have a romantic, candle-light dinner; he’ll stand up, cavalierly take her hand and pull her close to him; he’ll kiss her debonairly and then let her have her way with him…..  (Ah, you dimpled devil, you!)  He comes back to the here and now and makes a call to Ulises to do him a favor.

Gus and Pau agree that they won’t make any more big decisions until the baby is out of danger.  She has him promise not to run off to tell Ro-Hellio the truth ever again.  It about kills Gus to do it, but he promises he won’t do it again.

Sinthia waits in the shadows of the hallway for Gus to come out of Paula’s bedroom.  She hugs him and pretends to be Miss Sweetness and Light, fearing what might have happened once Bro-Hell found out.    Gus tells her he never had a chance to speak to Rog.  She reels Mr. Naive in by offering him her support and supposed sympathy at the possible loss of his child.  “--I’ve come to a conclusion:  I am capable of doing anything as long as it will keep you at ease.  Despite the fact that Paula and I don’t get along, I’m ready to make the effort just for you.  I want to help both of you.  I know how important your baby is for you.”  “--Really, Sinthia?  How terrific of you!”   (I have to bag the gag attack till the next commercial break.  Damn!)

In the kitchen there’s more squabbling between Maria and Rosie.  FF>>

Gus finds Ernesto in the living room now and they begin to discuss the real situation with the baby and Ana.  Ernie tells him that Paula had some bleeding and that the threat of her aborting continues.  Gus is frantic to get her to civilization and a real hospital setting.  Too bad.  Nothing like that exists here!   In any event, Paula’s too weak to be moved.  They’ll have to do the best they can right there.  Keep her calm, fed and rested.  “--Don’t tell Ana this, but the chances the baby will make it are slim, very slim!”

In town, Effer runs into Connie again.  He wants to know why she really left the hacienda to work in town.  Connie tells him she wanted to avoid having to be around him any longer.  Effer asks if she’s got something going with Mike.  She blows him off and says no.  They’re just friends.  He tells her (and my hubby’s always agreed) friendship between a man and a woman doesn’t exist.  “--That’s your problem if you believe that,” she sneers back at him.  She has a thought.  “—What I want to know is if Michael really killed Maripaz.”  Of course he did, says Effer, and everyone knows it.  He’s just trying to persuade her otherwise.  Connie isn’t so sure now.  “--It’s just that the guy from this afternoon who’s been bothering me also was bothering Maripaz.  What if it was him?”  The wheels in Effers head start turning…slowly, but there is movement.

Meanwhile, Ernie reminds Gus that although he’ll be there for his nephew and for Ana, the chances are mighty poor for the baby.  “For that baby to make it through this we’ll need a real miracle.”  Gus begs for time to stay with Ana till she and the baby are both out of danger.  Ernie says he’ll have to tell Rog what’s going on.  Gus freaks and reminds him that not only would it wreck Rog’s chances for a successful operation, but it would definitely cause Ana grief.  (No duh!  What’s with all this honesty all of a sudden when everyone knows the damaging effect it will have on Rog, and then both AP and the baby???)  Ernie reluctantly agrees.  (Viewerville lets out a communal sigh of relief along with Gus.)

Back in town, Effer asks what that creepy guy is doing here and also in Tuxtla.  Connie mentions that Macaria told her he works for Lic. Bruno.  Either way, she plans to find out what’s what.  She walks on and he yells at her to keep him informed.  Macaria walks up behind him at that point and swats him for two-timing her at their rendezvous (while they’re obviously two-timing Uli).   Effer’s amused she’s jealous of him and says it’s not his fault women are so stuck on him [me caigan como gripa al pecho = lit.  they fall on me like influenza onto a chest].  Sheesh.

Maria has a chat with Ernie now and thanks him for staying there with Paula, even though he should be with Rog.  He calls Rog and asks if they can reschedule the operation.  Rog isn’t happy about that since he’d wanted to return to the hacienda able to walk and what with the water problems, he’s reluctant to stay away any longer than necessary or to have Paula continue facing them alone.  No, says Rog, he’s going to get the surgery and then just do the rehab back at the hacienda.   One more thing, tho, says Rog before hanging up.  He wants to know what’s going on with Gus.  “--He rushed in and rushed out for some emergency and now you can’t come to Mexico to do the surgery.  What’s the matter?  What are you hiding?  You might as well tell me because I’m going to find out anyway.”  Oi vey.

El Mundo de Telemundo, Week of April 16, 2012: Discuss Amongst Yourselves

A new week, a new page, my friends. Have at!

Una Familia Con Suerte #205-206 Thu 4/12/12 What to expect when you’re expecting a lot of clichés.

At the hospital, Pepe feels guilty and thinks he should have driven Frida home, which would have been TOTALLY fine because they are platonic friends and nothing would have happened and if by chance he had puckered up his lips and Frida’s just coincidentally were right there in front of him, how is that his fault? Moni is annoyed that Pepe went to see Frida and didn’t mention it before. Pepe visits Frida and tells her she’ll need surgery and lots of therapy.
Arnoldo has a plan for the boutique and tells Candy they’ll need 30 million pesos to get it off the ground. Candy only inherited 10 million. Arnoldo thinks it’s cute that she thought she was rich.
Ana cries to Chela that she doesn’t like touring, has no dudely sidekick because Freddie’s too feeble and Adrián is too blah, plus she’s getting fat. Chela says that’s ridiculous; who told her she was fat?
Rebe sends her mom home to Florida to fix her life with daddy.
Chela stands in her new bedroom (Pina’s old room) and spaces out so spacily that four months pass and her stretchy pants no longer fit over her huge belly.
Downstairs, Enzo and Pancho talk about the auditor who’s coming to investigate the head honchos of Avon. They hear she’s a mean old hag. Enzo swears his affairs are above reproach, which is doubtful since he’s been in cahoots with Vins so long. Chela goes into labor, and Pancho and Enzo seem to realize they live in a sitcom because they completely freak out and can hardly get it together to drive Chela to the hospital. Apparently they make it, and we are treated to the usual labor and delivery scenes. Enzo videotapes the proceedings, which I find bothersome because in this family that’s probably going to be shown on the big screen to everyone they know. Really, Enzo, everyone would be happy to just see a photo of the cleaned-up cute baby.
Out in the waiting room, the clan gathers. Rebe is getting big and out of control. For pretty much the rest of the episode, she sobs and wails and demands one food, then gets grossed out by it and demands something else, then eats a ton, then howls that she’s fat, because that’s the card she drew in cliché charades.
Moni still has the red hair and is irritated by all the time Pepe has spent with Frida every day helping her with her therapy. Frida is frustrated by her slow progress and yells at patient Pepe. Later Moni rants that she thinks Frida is stalling her recovery to keep Pepe close. Pepe defends Frida and says he won’t abandon her. He visits her at her home and she apologizes and they look at each other longingly.
Everyone admires the baby, who is kicking back in the strictly gender-normative-colored nursery, until Temo realizes that poor Chela is all alone. So the huge loud party moves to Chela’s room. Eventually the nurse brings the baby and throws them all out. Apparently they name the baby Francisco, which seems kind of rude to do to Enzo.
Ana dashes off to the cafeteria and snarfs a ton of food and then goes and barfs. What fun. Adrián finds her at the hospital (doesn’t he have two kids and a business in Guadalajara?) and worries about her. Later, at home, Ana has some scary internet product called Delgaflex which promises “surprising effects.” Yikes.
Meanwhile, back at the office, Pina tells Arnoldo she wants to start a foundation to help broken families. He’s astonished but proud. Freddie comes in (Lamberto calls him “amors hermosho”) and tells Pina he’s graduating soon and then will have a surprise. He’s not happy about Vins and Candy’s wedding the next day, but Pina’s therapy seems to have finally taken some effect because she tells him she’s okay with it; Vins’s affair with Candy was just a symptom of their crumbling marriage, not the cause, and Freddy should make an effort to accept his new stepmommy.
Lamberto is having conniptions about the audit. Vins seems unprepared to have his secrets bared. They have the idea the inspector is some bitter ugly old spinster.
Lupita and Tomás visit Enzo, Chela, and the baby in the hospital and once again prove Lupita is the most considerate and mature person in the family by being quiet and only staying long enough to offer congratulations and praise the baby.
The very next day, it’s time for the boda of Candy and Vins. The guests gather. Pepe and Moni are at odds. Sandra wants Chacho to talk with Doc Oc about his “little problem.” Chacho is too embarrassed. Adrián the Stalker is there. So is the staff of El Paraíso, so maybe he can find someone new. Candy arrives, resplendent in looky-loo lace and magenta sparkle net. But where is La Familia Lopez? They are at home, waiting for Rebe to battle her overwhelming emotions enough to get dressed and into La Burra. Finally she manages it, amidst another tantrum.
The wedding happens. Napo’s V.I.L.E. Henchman has spent his time off perfecting his henchman expressions, and he hams up his phone reports on the proceedings. Kari notices Ana seems unwell and is concerned, but Ana is nasty to her and dashes off to the loo. Freddie and Adrián both worry and Adrián tells Freddie he should never have let her get away. Some of Candy’s old Paraíso clients crash the reception and start a Broadway musical brawl. Pancho and Vins hug and make up.
Chela and Enzo miss the wedding, of course, because her sister-in-law and his best friend were considerate enough to schedule it right when their kiddo was due. Chela is not all that happy Candy married Vice, and Enzo tries to convince her Vice is a good person deep down (VERY deep, says Chela). He tells her how he and Vins first connected, which has apparently never come up before in all the time he and Chela have been together: He used to wash Vice’s car, bringing baby Moni with him, and Vice maybe pitied him or was charmed by Moni and gave Enzo office work and paid for his schooling, and they became good friends. He thinks this means Vice is a generous person; Chela thinks Vice just bought himself a friend.
Pepe and Moni bicker again some more and Moni says they should break up.
Freddy tells Pina he’s worried about Ana because she seems sick. Pina would rather talk about the vacation she’s planning for herself and amors hermosho, though she does chant her “new Pina” mantra to keep from saying mean things about Ana.
Ana takes diet pills and exercises a lot and has a dizzy spell. Pancho and Rebe don’t even know about this, but they are worried about her eating habits and they consult Doc Oc (Rebe momentarily calms down) and he says Ana should see a psychiatrist. Pancho says Ana has always had low self-esteem. Pepe interrupts to tell them Moni dumped him and that sets Rebe off on another round of wailing.
Vice and Candy have a wedding night crammed full of every telenovela wedding night cliché. The towels on the bed folded into bunnies are a nice suggestive touch.
Mañana: The auditor arrives, and as she is Maribel Guardia we are to assume she is not, in fact, a bitter ugly old hag.

Abismo de pasión #24 4/12/12: To seek approval is to have no resting place, no sanctuary.*

* Rachel Naomi Remen, Kitchen Table Wisdom

I thought about this concept of sanctuary during tonight's episode, and where our young characters are able to find it. Or not...

Leftovers: After being disgraced at the party of the year and in front of the entire town, Elisa was dragged home by the odious Augusto.

Tonight: Elisa seeks the sanctuary of her own room and is comforted by Lolita, the person who loves her unconditionally. Elisa cries that she wants to be left alone. As she leaves Lolita kindly tells Elisa she does indeed look very beautiful. Such a sad, sad girl.

Sanctuary - Over at the rectory Padre asks a glum Gael why he left the party so early. It’s because he didn’t like seeing Elisa dance with another, right? Es cierto, Padre, he admits, he couldn’t stand seeing her in the arms of another. Padre suggests Gael get used to it because one day Elisa will marry and it won’t be to Gael. (Ouch!) Padre’s not trying to torture Gael, just make him see the truth. (Still, ouch!)

Padre then tells Gael what happened when Assgusto showed up at the party. Gael excitedly demands didn’t Padre do anything to help her? Padre tried but it happened so fast; anyway, Assgusto is her papa. Super Gael is incensed. Assgusto doesn’t have the right to humiliate her. Furthermore, Elisa went to the fiesta to help her papa.

Fina, Flo and Damian are doing a post-party debrief. Fina complains she thought Begoña would never leave, always the first to arrive and the last to leave, lol! (Sounds like me.)  Flor admires her ring but Damian is distracted. He excuses himself to go to bed. Fina comments Dam is acting strangely. Flo observes he started acting weird after he disappeared for a while. Hey, Elisa disappeared at the same time. They console themselves with the memory of Elisa’s humiliation.

Sanctuary - Dam sits in dad’s old office, fondling his amulet and recalling his recent smooch with Elisa.

Elisa fondles her lips , recalls the kiss and asks, “Why did he do it?”

Guido joins Fina. (He looks smashing in a white suit, a look few men can pull off. He and Fina make a striking couple.) He says he was out in the garden ‘talking’ to Paolo. Gosh it was a great party except for that little incident with the local girl and her father. She’s glad he came (bats eyes), he wouldn’t miss it (kisses hand).

Gabino interrupts to tell Fina he’s leaving and to surreptitiously ogle the pair. Then he passes through the kitchen to bother Tonia. He rubs his, er, belt buckle and silently approaches. Ta da! Braulio walks in and wonders whazzup with the Belt Buckle? Shouldn’t he be helping the other workers in the garden? Gab doesn’t like Brau giving him orders. Tonia grovels, Brau spoke badly, he was only asking not telling. Gab smirks that Tonia knows how to talk to him and he doesn’t know what a babe like her is doing with Brau. Seeya. Brau tells Tonia he doesn’t like Gab’s attitude toward her and he hopes she hasn’t done anything to encourage him.

Gabino finds Paolo outside, checking bottles for any leftover tidbits of vino. They introduce themselves and I don’t know who is the biggest fashion disaster, Gab with his one-sleeve look or Paolo with his white elbow patches. I think they should both remove the offending clothing immediately. Gab saw Paolo dancing with Elisa. Paolo is bummed because she had to leave early. She enchants me, he admits. He says he’s heard she’s...easy. Gab observes she’s one of the town beauties and it runs in the family. “You should check out her tia.”  Paolo looks intrigued.

Sanctuary - Early next morning Elisa goes to the yerberia looking for Paloma, whom she finds fast asleep in her hammock. Elisa is perturbed and asks why Paloma and Gael left the party early? Because Gael got mad watching her dance with Paolo. Elisa says it gets worse, Damian kissed her. They were talking alone, blah blah blah and he kissed her. “How did it feel?” “Bad bad bad, very bad. How do you think it feels to kiss a man who is celebrating his engagement to another woman?” Paloma asks what if Dam decides not to marry because he discovers he’s in love with another? “Impossible,” weeps our sad Elisa.

Over at Hacienda Harangue-o Dam eats Flo’s kisses for breakfast. Well, there might be a breakfast burrito thrown in there too. She notices he’s wearing the amulet. How lovely, a gift for her? Not really. She keeps pressing until he reluctantly removes it and hands it over. She puts it around her lovely neck and he glowers. “You love me baby?” she asks. “Mmmm hmmm," he mumbles. “Well then do something better than this necklace. Marry me today in a civil ceremony.”  Cara impactada de Damian.

Braulio glowers too, and he’s still miffed about last night. He tells Tonia he doesn’t like her alone in Fina’s kitchen with Gabino sneaking around. He doesn’t care if Gab is his boss or if Fina protects him, he has to put a stop to that loser. Tonia advises him to give it a rest and not make trouble for them, they both need their jobs.

Dam tells Flo he doesn’t get it, why the rush? (¿Por qué la prisa?) She doesn’t want to wait, she loves him too much. He says people will talk and mommy won’t like it. No, they are going to have the church and civil ceremony at the same time as planned. Pretty Pout, but let’s do it soon she says. Dam promises they’ll go back to the DF tomorrow, today he must visit his father’s grave, “You wanna come?” “No, it’s a very personal thing for you and I’d better stay here so you can run into Elisa and wrangle with your tormented sentiments of ambiguous love.”

At Casa Castañon Carmeany whines (what else is new?) about Assgusto going to work on a Sunday. He gripes that since Gael left there’s more work for him. He reminds her that it’s muy importante that she convince Elisa to go with her to Doc Tovar’s office tomorrow. He kvetches about Damian hovering around Elisa, and their possibly being hermanos. (I think we can see where this is going.)

Breakfast at Casa Tovar, guaranteed to start the day with indigestion - Begoña blathers incessantly about the elegant party. Enrique blathers that the lovely Florencia was the highlight. No, corrects Begoña, the highlight was what Assgusto did to his daughter. “Poor girl,” tuts Enrique. “She deserved it,” snips Sabrina. “You’re just jealous because she danced with Paolo,”  jabs her brother. Doc Gordo rolls his eyes, he’s had enough and he’s off to visit a sick patient. The remaining Tovars comment on his continuing odd behavior.

Sanctuary - Dam sees Braulio changing flowers on his dad’s grave. Brau observes it’s a shame Damian isn’t interested in taking over the procesadora, all the workers were hoping when they saw Damian that he had returned and Gabino would be fired. “You have problems with him too?”  “That guy is abominable,” sighs Braulio. (nefasto = nefarious, abominable, poison, trouble)  “And the farther away he is from the procesadora and Alfonsina the better.”

Back at Hacienda Harangue-o kitchen, Useless Gabino sees Useless Vicente sweeping the floor. UG asks is UV a servant now? Vicente admits he did badly in school so now he has to work. Gabino pulls a wad of cash out of his pocket and hands it to UV. The kids says his parents would be mad but. UG tells him to quit being a whiner (chillón), it will be their little secret, “Now take off and hang out with your useless pals and leave the cleaning to the old ladies”. Nice job teaching the kid values, dad. Like father like son.

Warning: Ladies, get yourselves a shot of tequila and a punching bag: Paolo comes in to raid the refrigerator and compare belt buckles. He says it seems like that kid is Gabino’s. Heck no, says Gab, but if it turned out to be so he would deny it.  Hmm, Paolo gripes he knows what it’s like because he’s got a little package back in the DF. The stupid chick got herself pregnant so she could trap him. Surely Gabino has an illegitimate child or two in La Ermita, right? Gabino denies it, but maybe in Santa Rita or thereabouts, ha ha funny joke. Paolo says he’s off to find Elisa. “Keep an eye out for her aunt,” reminds Gabino. They compare notes on slimy seduction techniques. Get a room boys.

Sanctuary - At the yerberia Paloma’s got the Gael blues. Ramona reminds Paloma that Gael’s had the hots for Elisa for a long time. Paloma says Elisa looked absolutely beautiful last night. Ramona agrees that Elisa is a looker, but she points out that Paloma is also lovely. Elisa’s looks don’t seem to have made her life easier, since everybody gives her a hard time. “How that girl has suffered, and now that Damian has returned...”  Paloma asks if they will end up together. Ramona scoffs, she’s not a witch or a seer. “Abuela, you have great intuition, will they?”

Dam sees Elisa putting flowers on her mother’s plain grave. She lets him have it for his actions last night. He is not the same Damian! He tells her he’s returning to Mexico City tomorrow. “Good, as I told you last night, you no longer belong in this town.”  He says she’s right and he’s accepted it. He tenderly cradles her face and tells her goodbye. Pobrecitos, they both look so sad.

At Hacienda Araña Flo is gushing to Fina about how much she loves Dam and can’t wait to get back to the DF to get married. “Would you do anything for him?” asks the Black Widow, “Would you live here if he wanted to stay?” Flo thinks a moment, then says yes of course. Fina admits that is what would make her happiest but Dam doesn’t seem to have any interest in the procesadora. Here he could be the boss and not just an employee. Flo’s not sure he would be happy in La Ermita after all those years in Europe. “Ah well,” says the spider, “it’s just a dream I have. The most important thing is whatever you and Dam decide to do.” They both smile confidently. Good luck Florencia.

Sanctuary - Dam visits Padre Lupe. Lupe asks whom did Dam come to visit, the priest or the uncle? Both, admits Dam, last night he kissed Elisa. He knows he’s engaged to another but it was an impulse he was unable to resist. Now Elisa is very offended. “Well duh,” says the Padre, “what do you feel for her?” Dam says she’s a childhood friend, nothing more. Padre points out one doesn’t kiss a childhood friend like he kissed Elisa. “No wonder she was offended,” says padre, “Dios mio, dude you have to analyze your feelings. If you love Florencia then you have no right playing with Elisa’s sentiments.”  Dam promises the last thing he wants to do is hurt her. “Listen to what you’re saying,” advises Padre, “It’s time you made a decision.”  Smart padre!

Sanctuary - Elisa visits her padrinos who are always happy to see her. Lucio has the feeling he’s the third wheel, he leaves so the ladies can girl talk. “More trouble with dad?” asks Blanca. “Worse, I’m in love for the first time in my life, and it’s an impossible love.”

Flo gripes to father Guido that Fina is crazy. No way will she and Damian stay in this town. Papa says the decision is up to Damian and he doesn’t want to stay, right? Flo is worried that Fina will convince him. She is very dominant. (Ya think?) Pop says a woman needs to stay with her man. “Por Favor!”, she scoffs, “that’s old school.” Guido advises her not to get between the son and mother, she’s sure to lose.  Oh well, tomorrow they will all return to Mexico City. Skeptical glances.

Casa Castaño - “Dolores, someone's knocking at the door, somebody's ringing the bell, do me a favor, open the door and let 'em in! Dolores!!” Dolores strolls up and reminds Carmeany it’s her day of rest. They stand there arguing while the bell rings. Lolita glides out of the room and Carmeany’s ample balcony is forced to answer the door. The sleazy Paolo music plays and his hips slither into the room while he gets an eyeful of Tia’s boobs. “Sorry for gawking but I’m Paolo. You must be Elisa’s aunt because I heard of your great beauty.”  She’s dying to know who said that. “I’m not naming names,” he purrs. (Se dice el pecado pero no el pecador = tell the sin, not the sinner) They eagerly sniff each other while Paolo explains he’s Elisa’s friend. He’ll come back later when she’s around. Kiss hand, sniff sniff, see ya. They like.

Doc Tovar calls Carmeany in a panic. He begs to see her in his office right away! He just wants to talk to her one last time, then he won’t bother her any more. She smirks confidently.

Elisa sadly tells Blanca she has no right to Dam because he’s engaged, not to mention neither his mother nor her father would allow it. But that doesn’t change what she feels in her heart. Blanca understands but agrees with Elisa that the relationship isn’t meant to be. What Elisa needs is caring and understanding, not problems. It’s just a matter of finding the right guy, Gael for example? Elisa admits Gael is just a friend, also Paloma is her best friend and she’s in love with Gael. She could never betray her.

Speaking of whom, Paloma is in the street and sees Carmeany arrive at the consultorio. Gasp, it’s Sunday!

Gael runs up to Elisa as she arrives home. He heard all about the fiasco at the party. He hates that her father treats her that way and that he’s so ungrateful, she only went to the party to help him out. Too right, she says, and when she tried to tell him that he didn’t even believe her. “So it’s true?” asks Gael, “you only went to help dad?” Elisa is very worried about pops, he’s on the verge of losing everything. Gael says she doesn’t know the half of it, production is really down. She wants to ask Gael a very serious favor, please come back and work for dad. “No, aaaahhhh! Oh shoot, I can’t resist your pretty pleading. I’ll return but only because I’d do anything for you.”

Inside, Doc Tovar desperately asks if he means anything to Carmeany. “Of course,” she soothes, “I’m not done sucking you dry yet. I’ll let you fondle me while I tell you what I need from you. I need you to tamper with Augusto’s paternity test.” Doc doesn’t understand her motive. She snaps that she doesn’t require his understanding, will he do it, yes or no?  Doc is shocked, no way would he ever do what she’s asking. “Fine then you can forget me and my boobies forever,” she hisses. Doc goes ballistic, he can’t lose her, he leaps across the room and grabs her in a mad clinch...just as Paloma walks into the office.

Avances: Carmeany and Paloma face off. Elisa slaps Gabino. Damian wants to stay a little longer in La Ermita. Florencia is not happy.
