Refugio Para el Amor #44-45 Tue 6/26/12 Rod and Luci’s Awesome Adventures in Babysitting and Baby Birthing

In the middle of their nature walk by the river, Rod and Luci start making out in earnest, even lying down in a clearing on the path. A group of little kids passes by and starts taunting them. Luci is embarrassed. Rod is amused and thinks Doña Paz sent the kids to stop any hanky panky.

Estella asks what Rosa’s questions are about. Rosa demands to know why Estella recommended Luci for the job in the first place. The interrogation is interrupted by a call, so we zoom back outside to the lawn, where Marianita is excitedly telling Pato how cool his wheelchair is. Padre Honesto arrives and Marianita introduces herself, then continues playing after Mati brings her a drink. Padre is there to see if Rosa has calmed down since their last conversation earlier that day. (Oh, Padre. You really do have a lot of faith in your fellow man.) Pato hopes Padre can help calm her down.

Still on their nature walk, Rod and Luci think they hear the sound of a child in distress. They go off trail to investigate. Near the riverbank, they find a crying toddler, with no adult around. They carry the baby along the riverbank in the direction he points.

Gala and Julie have called Rosa to update her on the Luci investigation. Julie sends a reminder that they need cash to pay people off for info, but Rosa cuts the call short to continue interrogating Estella. Estella says she recommended Luci because she saw she is an honorable girl. “What happened? Did she steal something?” At least Rosa is honest enough to say she didn’t, although she’s acting like Luci stole Rod, like he was some possession. Frigida interrupts to tell Rosa the Padre has arrived to see her.

Gala tells Julie that Rosa won’t believe the photos. She might think they’re faked, like Rod will. Gala’s brain cells are starting to work again. She says she suspects that Luci and Rod met before. There are too many illogical coincidences. First the club, and then a few days later she’s working in the house.

Melissa visits Claudio to discuss her thesis. She hasn’t gotten much work done since she last saw him. Her aunt has had issues which have distracted her and the whole family. Claudio understands, since Rosa is a great woman who is always concerned about others. (Ha!) In fact, he wants to talk to Rosa, and Melissa’s mom has given him her contact info. Melissa explains what all the drama has been about. Luci left. Claudio knows this and says he sent Barrera to help her family with the property issues. What he doesn’t know is that Rod followed Luci and now they’re married. Claudio is super impactado.

Lorenzo comes home to Vio with the happy news that he’ll be working in the casino. He’ll be able to earn so much more money by getting tips (propinas). He plans on paying attention to see how gambling is done in the big city. Vio tells him to not even think about gambling at El Inferno, anyway, it’s prohibited for employees. Lorenzo says when he has an opportunity, he’s going to play/gamble. He thought bubbles that he’ll also find a way to get even (cobrar) with Lastra for what he did to his sister.

Padre asks Pato why Rod did things this way, instead of being straight forward with his parents. Pato points out that when it comes to Luci, there is no way of talking reasonably with his mother.  Padre knows, very well. He asks why Rod went looking for Luci. Pato informs him Rod went after her to marry her, and he did! Nope, mom doesn’t know. (Rosa and Frigida are the only ones who don’t know yet. LOL!) She knows Rod went to see Luci, but no one has told her about the marriage. Rod wants to tell her personally. In the meantime, Rosa continues to go more bonkers. Padre is sure Rosa’s maternal instinct (to love unconditionally) will eventually kick in. (Yeah, right!)

Claudio is still in disbelief about the marriage. “Are you sure they’re married?”  Yep. Rod sent messages. But Rosa doesn’t know yet. Claudio is upset Luci didn’t tell him. (That *was* kind of thoughtless on her part.) So, now Luci is Mrs. Torreslanda.

Rosa puts her interrogation of Estella on hold again, so that she can talk to the Padre. (Look lady, I don’t work for you and I have other things to do with my time. And you can ask one of your servants for your damn tea, because I DON’T WORK FOR YOU!) Estella doesn’t say this, of course. She offers to tell Mati that the Ice Queen needs her tea, and goes to wait in some servant appropriate place until she’s summoned again.

Luci and Rod follow the direction where the little boy pointed and find a little house near the river. The door is open and inside they find a woman in bed, delirious, heavily pregnant, and in the middle of labor pains. They realize that both the mother and the little boy are burning up with fever. Rod goes to get water and Luci busies herself in the kitchen and getting them medicine.

Estella reports to Mati that Rosa hasn’t really gotten the interrogation started. Mati apologizes for getting Estella into this mess. It is really her responsibility to tell Rosa about Luci, but Estella can’t lie to Rosa either. Mati suggests that Estella leaves, and Mati will tell Rosa she had an emergency and had to go.

Claudio frets about why Luci didn’t tell him she was getting married. Could it be because she was marrying a Torreslanda and was afraid of his reaction? Melissa tells him that Rod is very much in love with Luci, and that’s why he dumped his novia. Claudio doesn’t think a real man dumps a woman at the altar like that. He should have broken off with her before. Melissa can’t argue with that.

Mati is barely holding it together as she brings Padre his tea. She starts to cry and say it’s her fault. Padre says Rosa is starting to infect Mati with her guilt complex. (Oh, please do not let that be contagious.) Before Mati can spill the beans to Padre, Rosa arrives. Rosa whines about her headache. Padre wants her to calm down, but she says she can’t. Padre tells her to resign herself to the fact that Rod loves Luci. Rosa says she’s afraid. Padre asks why the fear. She’s afraid of the past that will bring her family disgrace. “Image if you found out that your mother just gave away a child.” He’d prefer finding that out, over finding out his mother kept quiet about it just to keep her social standing.  She really doesn’t want to find out how Max and Claudio would react. And her kids think she’s a moral pillar.

Lorenzo is sad that he wasn’t able to be with Luci when she got married. Vio says they’ll get to be with her for the Church wedding, which is the one that counts. Lorenzo can just imagine how badly the Torreslandas will react to their family and how they will treat them. He says he’ll sell his soul to the devil so that he’ll be able to buy his mother a fancy dress so that she can attend the wedding looking distinguished. Vio tries to talk sense into him. She tells him about a street of shops where you can get beautiful wedding dresses and other dresses for great prices. Marcial shows up and tells Vio he’s there to say farewell because he’s going on another trip.

Luci has fed the little boy and given him medicine, and he seems to be doing a bit better, but the mother has lost consciousness.  Rod turns the mother on her side. He knows some first aid tricks that will help her and the labor along.

Claudio admits that Luci’s sudden secret marriage bugs him. Primarily because there is a special bond between them. Melissa says Luci esteems him greatly and is very grateful to him. Claudio says perhaps he’s just an old fogey. Melissa disagrees. She can tell that he doesn’t like her cousin Rod for some reason. Claudio thinks Rod might be like his papa Max. Melissa disagrees. Anyway, kids aren’t at fault for their parents’ sins. Claudio says she’s totally right, but Rod dumping Gala right in front of the judge doesn’t speak well of him. Melissa explains that Rod did try to speak to Gala beforehand, many times, but she wouldn't listen. Claudio tells her she has again taught him a lesson. He will respect Luci’s decisions. Melisssa has inherited her mother’s intelligence, good sense, as well as being a good person like her. Melissa is all smiles and blushes at the compliment. They get back to work on her thesis.

Pato and Marianita talk about her new school. There are some mean kids that she doesn’t like. Aldo returns home, and meets and scares Marianita with his larger than life personality. He gets the news that Luci and Rod are married. Aldo wants to throw a big party to celebrate. Pato dumps cold water on that plan and tells him to pipe down. The Ice Queen doesn’t know yet. Padre Honesto is trying to warm her to the idea before Rod springs the news on her. Aldo thinks this is even more reason to party now, before the Rosa bomb explodes and causes them all misery. Pato gives in. Aldo’s taking him out so that they can celebrate and Pato can meet Lorenzo, who’s now part of the family.

The sick mother has come around, and Luci and Rod are coaching her through the labor while Luci tries to get a call out on the cell phone, with no luck. They ask where her husband is, but he’s far away working. Rod heads out to try to get a cell phone signal. Luci coaches the mother through breathing.

Connie is getting a manicure from Vicky and asking her about her sugar daddy. Vicky says she hasn’t seen him much lately because he has to work. Connie wonders if he knows she’s been going out with Aldo. Vicky starts getting nervous and lies that he knows she and Aldo are friends. “Does he know you go to places like el Inferno?” Vicky says he doesn’t and he wouldn’t like it either. What a coinkidink. Max got all upset that Aldo went there too. And Rosa reacted even worse. They would both be shocked that Connie went there too. Connie leaves Vicky a huge tip. (If Vicky can get her act together, she would have a great mother-in-law in Connie.)

Gala is starting to think that Rod knew exactly who Luci was in el Inferno and brought her to work in the house to have an adventure with him. Julie thinks she’s crazy and Rod wouldn’t do a thing like that. Gala has to agree that it’s not like him. Julie says this is a coincidence that they have to take advantage of.

Oscar and Max are working in the office. Oscar still doesn’t get why Rosa is in such a tizzy. Rod is a grown man (hombre hecho y derecho) who has been living on his own and been responsible for himself for some time now. Max doesn’t get it either. He thinks it’s a lack of respect for Rod on Rosa’s part. Oscar also doesn’t think the class difference issue should be causing all this fuss. If he found a woman like Luci who was good, hard working, had good values, and above all loved him, he wouldn’t think about it twice.  Max questions if he would really do it. Oscar points out that they are in the 21st century, for Pete’s sake. In fact, he asked Rod the same thing, and he gave the same answer he just did. Rod loves Luci, and nothing can get in the way of that.

Rod runs along the trail and tries to get a signal. He finally gets to a spot where he gets a bit of signal to make an emergency call, but the call drops. He keeps running, while yelling for help.

Estella is still wasting her precious time at the big house, and is even helping Mati cook. She goes to check on Marianita and Frigida takes the opportunity to blame Mati for causing all this trouble by recommending Luci. Mati tells her to shut up because she knows NOTHING about what’s going on here. And if she doesn’t shut her trap, then she’s going to see a Matilde that she has NEVER seen before!

Aldo, hugged up with Pato in the back seat of the car, calls Lorenzo to invite him out with them. Aldo asks if Pato also has feelings for Luci. Yep, ever since he saw her for the first time. He flashes back to the first time they met in Het Het. Aldo’s on a mission to cheer him up.

Luci and the mother are talking during a break between contractions. The family has been having trouble getting enough for the little one to eat and clean water. She points to where there is some clean water to clean the baby once it arrives. She has another major contraction and passes out. Luci screams for Rod.

Boris and Hannah hang out on the school lawn eating chips. (They have the most delicious looking high calorie foods at this school.) He wants to be with her all the time. He thinks they need alone time. For what? For kisses. He gives her a long kiss, but she’s not into it and her eyes are open the entire time.

Marcial tells Vio that he loves her. She’s starting to have doubts since he’s going away again. She thinks her work is a problem for him. He sees nothing wrong with her work. He can’t provide something better for her right now, but he will. She never thought a man would value her, knowing the work she does. She’s excited now that she’s singing and hopes that it will lead to better things- another kind of life.

Magda and Paz look through a box of old clothes.  Paz plans to repurpose some of the garments to create new dresses for them to attend the wedding. They get excited looking through the old dresses and come upon a blue dress Paz wore as a bridesmaid in her cousin’s wedding years before. She tells Magda how she has a huge family in the town she’s from-- lots of cousins. Magda points out that this is the first time since Galdino died that she’s seen Paz so animated and happy. Paz acknowledges this and says Galdino would not want to see her unhappy. She thanks Magda for being like a sister to her. She doesn’t know what she would have done without good and brave Magda. Magda is glad they have each other.

Padre does an exorcism on Rosa. (We wish!) He just prays over her, but she’s immediately in her usual tizzy again. Why did God allow Pato to have this accident? Padre tells her that the only thing she has to be upset about is Pato’s accident, but she’s the one causing all this other drama. Why? She says, because Linares came back into her life. Because of Luci’s presence. Because her son has gone crazy over a servant. Do these seem insignificant to Padre?! Uhm, yeah!  Patricio may be in a wheelchair, but he’s getting better.  “He’ll never be the same!” Padre points out that physically, no, but he may become a better man. Rosa won’t accept that. And she won’t accept that they will all find out what she did. Padre thinks that’s exactly it. Rosa doesn’t want people to know she’s not perfect. She needs to root out that pride that’s eating at her soul. She’s surprised by Padre’s lack of understanding. Padre Honesto informs Rosa that his job is to speak the TRUTH.

Capitulo 45 scenes consolidated for expediency

Rod comes back to Luci and Maria, the sick mother in labor. He brings her to consciousness with a cut onion that he rubs together and holds under her nose. The situation for the mother and the baby on the way looks grim.

Hannah is very relieved to get the kiss with Boris over with. Like Luci, she has never had a boyfriend before. She wonders if it’s because no guy has ever liked her. Boris admits that there have been lots who’ve liked her, but he kept them at bay. She shoves some more chips in her mouth to avoid another kiss.

Pato, Aldo and Lorenzo hang in a bar drinking beers (Aldo helps Pato with his by giving him sips and taking sips from his mug too), eating nuts, and flirting with girls at another table. Aldo thinks the girls are totally into Pato. Pato thanks Aldo for getting him out.

Marianita informs Mati that Pato has gone out. The news spreads like wildfire to Frigida and then to Rosa. She rips into Genaro, the driver, and Aldo and Pato when they return. Pato puts her in her place and tells her to save her sermons since she doesn’t know what it’s like to be imprisoned by four walls every day.

Melissa bids Claudio farewell and wishes him a good trip. She manages to hide her fan girl crush pretty well. Barrera then calls Claudio to report on the Het Het happenings with the properties.

Gala is convinced that Rod and Luci knew each other before she started working at the house. (Correct) She calls Rosa up and tells her this theory. Rosa can’t believe it. Later, Gala calls Pato, who confirms that he and Rod met Luci in Het Het. Gala is convinced it was there they became lovers and Rod purposely brought Luci to the house to be his lover. (Wrong!) Pato tells her this is not so. Luci didn’t even get along with Rod at first and scolded him because he delayed getting her father help. Gala thinks Luci and Rod meeting in Het Het, then at the club, and then at Casa Torreslanda is too much coincidence. She does not realize she is living in a telenovela.

Vicky commiserates with her boss that she would like to go out to movies and such, like a normal young person does with her boyfriend. Her boss encourages her to end things with Max, so she can do those things. Vicky claims she can’t because she LOVES her Osito. Well, if she won’t dump him, then she needs to be getting more out of this deal. Not just little gifts, but an actual investment, like a house or a business. (How’s she going to explain that to her dad?) Make him pay. Vicky seems to like the idea.

Max calls Pato and finds out, to his delight, that he’s in a bar where Aldo has taken him. Max tells Oscar that Aldo never ceases to surprise him. He’s spontaneous. Max admits to Oscar that Aldo is actually way more smart and clever than he appears. Hmm…Max gets a call from his “licensiada” (aka Vicky) and makes plans to see her very soon.

Hannah tells Melissa about the dud of a kiss with Boris. Since her only other kissing experience was spin the bottle in middle school, she’s no expert, but she knows she should have felt more. Melissa encourages her to give Boris a chance to woo her, but also tells her that she can’t date someone just because she feels sorry for him.

Later at the house, Pato admits to Hannah that he was scared to go out at first, but then he really enjoyed himself. He does not believe those girls were flirting with him, and if they were, it was because they didn’t realize he’s in a wheelchair. Hannah calls him a super galan and a galanaso (a major galan/babe), and says he will find someone amazing. Pato also tells Hannah why their mom is so freaked out about Luci—her resemblance with Aurora Linares. It is a mystery to them why this would be, since Rosa and Aurora were supposedly such good friends.

Rosa continues to have a fit about EVERYTHING. Her interrogation of Estella keeps getting interrupted. She keeps getting calls. Padre came to visit and didn’t tell her what she wanted to hear. Pato left home with Aldo, without her permission. Max comes home for lunch and the meal isn’t ready yet, so he leaves (to have an afternoon delight with his mistress Vicky). Hannah announces at lunch that she kissed a boy, and she liked it (but she didn’t really). Then everyone leaves Rosa alone at the dining room table to continue her bitch session of one.

Rod and Luci make an excellent team coaching Maria through her labor and catching and cleaning the baby boy when he finally arrives. Rod cleans up the bed sheets, Maria and her two babies get some rest, and Rod and Luci take a well deserved nap on the floor. When they wake, Maria is burning with fever once more and they work to cool her down. To make matters worse, Maria’s husband comes home, freaks out about the two strangers in his house, and threatens them with his machete. Rod talks him down and introduces him to his new son.

Vicky and Max have their afternoon delight. He’s in a good mood today, and she’s feeling frisky as well. She makes herself comfortable by getting naked on the couch, but, isn’t leather uncomfortable on bare flesh? He loves that she’s taken the initiative. She loves provoking her Osito. They get busy. Later, in bed, she pouts a bit about not being able to be public with Max. He’s not sympathetic. He reminds her that he’s married.

Maria continues to become more feverish, and the little boy still has a fever as well. Mr. Maria is reluctant to take them to a hospital because of the cost. Rod and Luci convince him and he and Rod go off to get help. (I’m pretty sure Rod is paying the costs.) The paramedics finally arrive later and take the whole family with them. Both Mari and her husband are grateful to our hero and heroine. Rod and Luci are glowing with their accomplishment and hug each other tight.

After making the poor woman wait all day, then berating her into helping Mati prepare lunch (repeat after me Estella—Look lady, I DON’T work for you!), and making her granddaughter stay outside, Rosa finally corners Estella. She wants to know EVERYTHING about Luci.

Still on a high from their adventure, Rod and Luci continue their walk along the river. Rod finds a perfect spot in the river near the falls, takes off his shirt and shoes, and convinces Luci to join him in the water. They sit in the middle of the beautiful river to exchange their vows of love, then they begin kissing and some heavy petting that looks like it might lead somewhere.

Avances: Rod and Luci might actually do the deed! Rosa finds out the names of Luci's parents from Estella and collapses from the shock.

Abismo de pasión #74 6/25/12: Squeal!!! Scheme!!! Snooze!!! Stuff!!! Seethe!!!

It might be kind of short tonight. I am a bit pithed by the ending.

Part I- In which my husband asks "Did you just squeal??"
Casa de Dios/Gael
Dam: Dude! You had my amulet all along!!
Gael: I swear I was going to give it back, but I didn't. Sorry.
Dam: I'm gonna take a bath.

Casa Castigo
Lolita is mad at Horacio and doesn't plan on waiting for him to return. She's too hungry. Meanwhile, Horacio is borrowing the bartender's truck for some "work" the patrona wants him to do.

Assgu comes to the dining room for dinner. Elisa thought he was...er...busy with Tía. But no. He wants to eat with Elisa. Elisa is so excited she forgot her new boob size and runs into a chair on her way to her end of the table. Elisa wants to talk to him about something important, but Carmina arrives and the fun begins.
Assgu: if you are hungry go eat in the kitchen or the terrace. I don't want your orange butt in my dining room. Since we're all here, let me tell everyone that I no longer consider this rotten piece of citrus fruit my wife. If you're hungry, fix your own damn food. If your clothes are dirty, wash them your own damn self. Lolita, I don't want you to wait on her anymore.
Lolita: You don't need to tell me twice!!
Assgu: Now scram, Guppy Lips! Elisa and I want to have dinner as a family.
Guppy Lips: You're not fair!! *whimper*
Lolita: WOOT!!!
Recapper: SQUEE!!!

Casa Arango
Fina dines with Guido and we learn that Flor and Paolo are at a play date with the Tovar children. Fina takes the opportunity to ask Guido to fire Enrique. Guido blusters, but eventually caves. Fina has him by the cajones.

Back at the Castañon house, Elisa learns that Assgu won't give Carmeany a second chance. Assgu plans to make her life a living hell in the hopes she leaves on her own.

Guppy Lips swears Assgu will regret his actions. (Bingo alert: Villain talks to self out loud and Te juro)

Casa Tovar
The play date is going well and a fine vintage is brought out. Mama Tovar comes home and kicks the Landuccis out and lets Sabrina and Quique know their father was in a bar room brawl. (Which is actually kind of ironic since the Landuccis were kicked to the curb on the pretext that the Tovars were a "decent family.")

Casa de Dios/Gael/Padre
Padre made dinner. Dam Inconsiderate can't stay. He has to go to Casa Castigo

Hospital
Tovar kids visit dad. Where will he stay when they discharge him?? Begone browbeats him 'til he agrees to come back to the house.

Casa Harangue-O
Fina harangues Flor. Flor, luckily, has some pride and refuses to play Fina's game. No, she won't fight for Dam and no, she won't stay in La Ermita any more. Who cares if Fina manipulated daddy Guido to stay. She asks Fina to leave so she can pack.

Part II- In Which Men Scheme
Lolita waits up for Horacio, despite her saying she wasn't.
Elisa wants to make coffee to take to dad. She's going to talk to him about Dam.

La Cantina
Gab and Paolo scheme. Turns out Paolo is the one that ran Guido's business into the ground. Who knew he had such great forgery skills? Gab wants to channel that skill into embezzling money from the Pro Ce and throwing the blame on Guido. They discuss terms.
Gab: 30-30
Paolo: Psh!! Dude! I am a forger extraordinaire and you are asking me to screw my own brother over. I deserve at least half.
Gab: Oh, all right.

Casa Arango
Fina: I had a fight with Flor. No biggie. She says she's going back to the DF.
Guido: Ok. Good for her.
Fina: Whaaaa????? She has to stay here.
Guido: Whaaa??? There is no reason for her to stay.
Fina: Grrrr.

Casa Castigo
Lolita and Elisa are still making coffee. Elisa is nervous. Horacio still hasn't shown up.

In town, Dam sees Ramona in her cart. They talk about the power of the amulet and Dam and Elisa's love. Apparently between Ramona's amulets and the power of lerve, they can withstand anything. I hope so. Fina is out for blood (you'll see.) Ramona says she's never wrong. Does that mean an anvil for Gael and Paloma's relationship?

Elisa starts to talk to Assgu about farmy stuff and talk turns to Dam and the reconciliation. A bell rings. We hear Lolita telling Dam Pushy he can't come in. Dam has come to talk to Assgu personally. Don Ass is somewhat cordial. Dam Formal asks to marry Elisa. Neither Sr. Ass nor Fina can keep them apart.

Part III- In Which We Snooze
Elisa stands up to dad and reminds him what an ass he was for all those years. She is not going to give up a chance at happiness. Don Ass says he'll think about the Dam Proposal.

Casa Arango
Flor is decided. She's leaving. Guido thinks it's a great decision and Guido thinks Paolo should go with her. Paolo is not so inclined. Guido reminds Paolo that he's essentially a bum.

Fina tells Flor she will be taking her to the airport. Flor tries in vain to turn down Fina's "kindness." I actually feel sorry for Flor.

Part IV- In Which We Learn the Fate of Kenia's Stuff
Casa Castigo
Horacio is home from his nocturnal activities. Lolita is pithed and lets him have it. She is not going to put up with an irresponsible, drunk bum for a husband. Horacio promises it won't happen again. Don Ass comes and asks Horacio to get the horse from Don Lucio and also get his horse ready. He wants to take Elisa riding. Elisa is dressed in long pants. No Gold Bond needed. Elisa things are getting better. Poor little twit.

ING finds out from the Real Estate agent that someone called and said Kenia has left. She didn't even want the deposit for the year's rent! Surprisingly, ING does NOT ask about the money. Instead, ING asks about the stuff inside. It's all gone. Heeey, remember that truck Horacio borrowed in Part I???

Speaking of the Orange Julius Devil, Carmina is asking about Kenia's stuff. Horacio cleared it all out and dumped it in a neighboring village. Horacio wonders what happened to Kenia and assumes (correctly) that if Carmina is involved...it can't be good. Don Ass interrupts. Nem-ho is surprised and pithed to learn that Don Ass is going to go riding with Elisa.

Part V-In Which the Recapper Seethes
Alternate Title: Jewish Grandmother from Hell
Fina's driver has a lead foot. Fina wants Flor to stay. Flor...not so much. Fina tells Flor all about Daddy's financial woes and lets the girl know she can forget living in the lap of luxury. If Flor leaves, Fina is going to fire Daddy AND demand an immediate  payback on the loan she made him.

Carmina crashes Doc Tovar's office. Paloma Loose Lips tells her about the fight in the bar.

Elisa (modestly garbed) and Don Ass talk habanero stuff. He's going to sell Cielo Abierto to help pay back the loan. Blah. Whatever. He's being saying it for weeks. Sell the damn thing already.

Fina is prepared to do anything to get Dam away from Elisa. Fina brings up the fake pregnancy. Fina wants a grandchild (blood), dammit. She's desperate. Flor, being logical, says to Fina that she and Dam Celibate haven't been intimate in months. In Fina's world, it's just a matter of Flor being pretty and seductive (Bingo Alert: There may be a "Galán sleeps with someone other than Protagonista" or "Galán gets drunk" or "Galán is drugged" in the near future.) Fina is sure that if Flor can manage to get herself knocked up (which I now know how to say in Spanish thanks to Julia), Dam Honorable will do the right thing since he knows how it feels to grow up without a dad. Padre will probably be on their side, too. Flor should be on board with this since having Fina's grandchild will assure her a share in the Arango fortune...something Daddy could use. Flor is stuck between a rock and Fina.

Avances

  • Bingo Alert: GRATUITOUS SHIRTLESSNESS!!!

Refugio Para el Amor #43 Mon 6/25/12 Rod and Luci Spend Their Honeymoon Avoiding Consummation and Baiting Anvils

Luci opens her hotel door to her marido Rod. He’s blown away by her beauty in her simple, modest white dress, and backs her slowly into the room, kissing her all the while. Things are getting pretty serious and it looks like we (and Rod) might get a much anticipated night of wedded bliss.

We’ll have to wait to see if we (and Rod) get our wish, because we are whisked away to another marital bedroom. Except this one is not quite as blissful, or happy, or loving, or…well, you get the drift. Rosa pulls the covers off of Max and demands that he speak to her about their son. Max wants to know what she thinks he can do about it. Rod is a grown man. She storms out to “think.”

Ahh, back to the happy newlyweds. They’re still kissing, when all of a sudden they both realize where this is going and jump apart. They think about it for about two seconds and then rush back to each other’s arms and kiss more passionately than before. In between their heavy breathing and fervent caresses, Rod tells Luci how much he loves her.

Max obviously can’t sleep after his argument with Rosa, so he visits Pato, who is also having a sleepless night. Pato asks if it’s true that Rosa hates Luci because she looks like Aurora Linares. Max admits the resemblance but thinks Rosa hating Luci for that would be nuts. Pato also points out that Max avoids the subject of Claudio Linares. Downstairs in the kitchen, Hannah and Mati are excited by the possibility of Rod and Luci having a baby. (Ladies, they might be making that a reality right about now.) Mati is super excited to be a three generation Nana—Rosa, Hannah and her brothers, and now maybe Rod’s child. Frigida comes in and pooh poohs the baby talk. Rod will never marry that girl. Mati and Hannah give each other a knowing look. Clueless Frigida has been left out in the cold with this piece of hot gossip.

We fly back to the hotel suite to see if Rod and Luci are complying with our, and Mati and Hannah’s wishes. Well, looks like they’re close. They’re on the shag rug (how appropriate), Rod’s on top, and they’re breathing mighty heavily. But they’re still fully dressed and both of them once again become aware of what they’re doing. Rod looks Luci in the eyes and can see her growing discomfort. “Not yet?”, he asks her. “No, not yet.” He rearranges her blouse and helps her up from the floor. They’re still pretty breathless, but decide to go to dinner. “As you wish, Princess.” He kisses her hands and leads her out the room.

Rod and Luci walk the streets of their honeymoon town and purchase snacks from a street vendor. He wants them to come back someday with their first child. They speak of kids and Rod says he can’t wait to be a daddy. They kiss on a park bench, and a child rides by on his scooter and falls right in front of them. Both Rod and Luci spring up to help him up, but his mother is right behind. Rod wants their child to be just like that—brave and daring. Luci also wants their child to be happy, well educated, and above all, very loved. They kiss on it.

Pato is still grilling Max about the Linareses, and why the hate. Why didn’t Max help Claudio? Why does Rosa hate Aurora if they were best friends and she helped with the birth of her child? Pato demands an explanation.

Rosa is in her favorite place to perform her one woman passion play. I think Jesus is getting tired of it too. She wonders what will happen when Claudio discovers that there’s just one body in the grave. “Well, I could just say that the baby’s body disintegrated over time. What about the clothes? What am I going to say about the missing clothes?!  And what has happened to the child? Luciana… Luciana is the same age! What if it’s her? No! No, Dios mio! Not such a big punishment!”

Rod orders tequila at dinner. Luci doesn’t drink, but agrees to try when Rod insists it’s to celebrate. She knows he’ll take care of her. He swears to always take care of her. (Anvil alert!) Smoochies!

Pato should be a lawyer. He’s really raking Max over the coals tonight. He wants to know why all the hate and drama surrounding Luci, just because she looks like Aurora. Max finally admits it’s because of his mother’s ever present absurd jealousy. “Was there something between you and Aurora?” “No. There was never anything between me and Aurora.”  He says that Rosa was always jealous of Aurora because he admired her. She was a serene woman who profoundly loved her husband. (The exact opposite of Rosa, by that description.) Aurora and Claudio were really happy. They loved each other deeply, while there were always problems between him and Rosa. Rosa interpreted his admiration wrongly. Max once again states that he did not have sexual relations with that woman. Anyway, he would never have gotten the chance with Aurora. She was the most dignified and respectful woman he’s ever known. Plus she very much loved her husband. Pato thinks it’s a shame that the memory of Aurora has awakened such base feelings in Rosa towards a girl who has done nothing to her. Max explains how Aurora found she was pregnant when Claudio was in jail (still not clear if she got pregnant before or after he went to jail, and how, if after) and that he and Rosa cared for her. However, Rosa’s irrational jealousy just grew. This was the start of the end of their marriage. Pato asks what happened to the baby and Max explains that she died, along with the mother.  “Nineteen years ago. Exactly the age of Luciana.” Ding, ding, ding! Someone give that boy a prize. Max is completely impactado by this train of thought.

Claudio is still thinking about Rosa’s visit to the cemetery and her chat with the director. He looks at Connie’s business card.

Connie, meanwhile, is having a romantic (2-person) dinner with Oscar. He’s going to miss her. She tells him he can come visit her, but in the meantime he can take Julie out dancing. “You are bad!” They have a chuckle over this. They then talk about Gala, who is a mess. Connie thinks it’s a tantrum (berrinche) more than anything else. Oscar agrees. Connie gets a call and excuses herself from the table. It’s Claudio. She thanks him for helping Melissa with her thesis. He gets to the point and tells her about wanting to move the remains of his wife and child. He actually wants to speak to Rosa about this, but wants to call her tomorrow at a decent hour.

Melissa thinks back to her meeting with Claudio. Looks like there’s some May-December crushing going on. I might be ok with this. Aside from the HUGE age difference, they have similar personalities and interests.

Gala’s tantrum continues. Blah, blah, Rod betrayed me. Whah! Julie tells her they can’t let down their guard and must continue with the Unmask the Whorish Lying Chacha Plan.

Back to happier places. Luci is having her first shot of tequila. Looks like she will need some more practice. Rod asks her if she had a lot of boyfriends before.  Nope. Not one.  He doesn’t believe it, as lovely as she is. She admits she’s never been in love before, like this. He kisses her. She says she’s never been loved like this before, never been kissed like this before, never been embraced like this before, never felt like this before. They exchange te amos. He loves her so much, it makes him afraid. It’s like a dream. It’s too perfect. She makes him promise that he’ll never deceive her, and no matter what, come what may (pase lo que pase), he’ll always tell her the truth.  (Anvil alert!!!) He swears it. (Lo juro.) And he makes her promise the same. More kisses. More anvils.

Lastra and Ivan talk about the new girl Violeta brought in. (We assume Serena.) This one’s from the big city, so she won’t scare as easy as the last one fresh off the bus from Het Het. Ivan floats the idea of Lorenzo working in the casino. Lastra doesn’t think it’s a bad idea. This will begin his revenge against Luci. Her brother will be his ally.

Gala doesn’t think that the info they have from the P.I. is enough. They need more proof to show Rod that Luci is a whore. She’s going to attack Luci with all the hatred she’s capable of. Julie thinks the key to Luci’s destruction is in Het Het.

Cut to Don Aquiles crying into his tequila bottle about losing his Palomita and not being able to get what he wanted this time, dammit.

Gala wonders if it’s still worth fighting for Rod’s love. Julie thinks of course it is! (Well, fighting for his money, at least.) Gala’s not on board with wanting Rod back, but she sure wants to finish Luci, in a bad way. She’s starting to get that same crazy eyed look as Rosa.

Rod has arranged for a serenade at dinner, and joins in to sing a love song to Luci. She’s enchanted.  They slow dance as Rod continues to sing. Smooches! Later, they walk back to the hotel and she expresses her surprise at hearing him sing.  He says there’s still a lot she doesn’t know about him. She says the same. (Anvil alert!) More mushy love talk and kisses. “I made a promise to your mother, and you don’t know how much I desire to break it.” He repeats how difficult it is to keep his promise at her door, but lets her into her room saying each one to his/her own bed. We can tell that he totally doesn’t mean it, and would carry Luci off to the bed in a split second if she let him. She closes the door, and they both lean against it on opposite sides, looking like they both need a cold shower.

Honeymoon Montage: Nature walks, street vendor snacks, delicious meals, boats, jet skis, and lots of kissing.

Gala announces to Julie that the tears are done with, and puts her war paint on. She’s also wearing a fabulous, kick-ass black jumpsuit with a wide black leather belt. Frigida calls to report she heard that Luci has something to do with Claudio Linares.

Boris invites Hannah to his beach house for his birthday party, with some other friends. Hannah’s not going if Lula doesn’t go. Plus, her parents wouldn’t give her permission to go without Lula. Boris is not happy about this.

Padre Honesto is being visited by his favorite psycho, Rosa. He tells her that if Rod and Luci get married, she can’t interfere. He then takes out his big old Bible and shows her the verse that says children are just on loan to parents and must one day leave their parents to unite with their spouse. Rosa chooses to ignore that bit of verse. Padre tries to talk sense to her. Hasn’t he learned? She’s determined to unmask that deceiver Luci.  Padre reminds her that no one is supposed to interfere between a man and wife, and she’s just going to end up separating Rod from his family and from her. She’s sure she will be saving her son’s life.

Mati visits Estella to tell her the Ice Queen wants to see her, NOW, to interrogate her about Luci. (I would tell Rosa to go to hell if I were Estella. She doesn’t pay Estella’s salary. What right has she got to question her?) Over in Vio’s apartment, Lorenzo tells her Ivan wants to talk to him. They talk about Luci coming back soon. Lorenzo is not ok with Luci doing the deed with Rod before the Church wedding, no matter that they have had the civil wedding. He can’t even listen to talk of any hanky panky between his sister and Rod.

Lic. Barrera has gone all the way to Het Het to help Paz out with the properties issue. It’s confirmed that the lands and the house are still in her and Galdino’s names. Paz and Magda are over the moon about it. Madga tells him about La Gorda giving Don Aquiles money for the house already. Barrera wants to speak with her.

In his office, Don Aquiles is telling his lackeys to find out all they can about Rod, and whether or not Luci and Rod are really good and married, in all the ways possible. (Anyone have any idea what that stuffed animal is on Don A’s desk? I laugh every time I see it.)

Ivan tells Lorenzo that he can work in the casino that night. It’s a trial run. Ivan calls Lastra to report this latest development. Gala and Julie meet Lastra at a restaurant and he shows them photos of the night of the Inferno brawl, after Luci had taken off her wig, but was still in her costume. They get the pictures when he gets the money wired to his account. Gala finally connects the dots and realizes that was the same night their group was there. She tells Julie that Rod was the one who defended Luci that night. She seems to think this will help her revenge plan.

Estella has come to the big house, and that bitch Rosa won’t let Marianita come in with her.  (Hey lady, YOU asked her to come to your house.) Mati decides to take Marianita out to the front lawn and goes back inside to get her refreshments. Pato is outside (yay!) and encounters Marianita. Inside the house…wait. I can’t believe this woman has her back turned rudely to Estella when she enters the room, then she DEMANDS that Estella tell her the truth about Luci. Aww, HELL NO! I repeat. Estella does NOT work for her.

OK. A bit of relief. The honeymooners are taking a stroll. She’s going to miss the tranquility of her pueblo. Rod says they’ll build a nice house for her mama in San Francisco del Alto (Het Het), where she can visit any time she wants. He’ll go wherever she goes, to the ends of the earth. She wants her children to know and love her land, like she does. They speak of having many children. He wants them to have her color hair. She wants them to have his eyes.  “Luciana, I’m going to dedicate myself to making you happy, always.”

Avances: More revenge plans from Gala and Julie, and madness from Rosa. It’s all moving towards trouble for Rod and Luci.

Amorcito Corazón Discussion #24-33 June 25-29

Capítulos 24 and 25 (Thanks for the correction on Fridays episodes, Cap'n Sylvia!)
Today's episode was brought to you by the phrase "salir con su domingo siete" (to get knocked up; Many thanks for Julia for pointing out this saying. They said it a lot today!)
The Main Events:

  • Doris barges into Isa's office and announces she's pregnant...and she has the lab results to prove it!
  • Fernando, being the intelligent galán that he is (excluding the Poncho business), finds it mighty interesting that Doris makes this announcement right when things are heating up with Isa. He drags Doris to a clinic and demands a blood test. Doris talks him into a urine test, too. Fernando is super smart and even tries to stop Doris from taking her purse into the bathroom!
  • Alas, it is all for naught. Doris fakes a dizzy spell and gets herself alone with the lab tech/nurse and bribes her into faking the blood test. So Fernando now believes Doris is pregnant (though he still can't figure out how since both of them were careful.)
  • Luckily, Fernando refuses to marry Doris. In anger, Doris calls the 3 Marías and blabs. They are inconsolable. So is Isa. Poor Fernando, he hitched his wagon to a crazy donkey.
  • Doris is officially off my list of likable characters.
Other Events:
  • Guillerma (novia de Leopoldo) hires a PI.
  • Snorty offers to pay Suzy for info on Fernando. Suzy declines the offer, but an eavesdropping Poncho overhears and takes her up on her offer.
  • Mauricio Rossi is actually the son of a friend of Beba and Snorty. He's from a fine family...so of course the older ladies are trying to fix him up with Marisol. I don't think he's cute at all.
  • Felipe and Cecilio are somehow involved (or trying to avoid being involved) with one César Lopez Mendoza (?) A mobster I assume. Feel free to fill in/correct me/chortle at my inability to understand Felipe and Cecilio.
  • Álvaro buys a car for Zoe.
  • Felipe gets into a fight with Álvaro.
  • Cecilio gets a phone call from his "estúpida suicida", but it turns out not to be her.
  • Jazmin La Embarazada gets thrown out of her house (by her dad?)
  • Willy visits Snorty. She twists her ankle. Foot/Leg porn.
  • Lala called home. I didn't catch most of what she was saying (at that point it was almost time to feed the cats and I had 4 of them staring at me)...was it just more about the expensive medicine for Tutuqueque?
  • I love that Sarita and Minerva are friends.
  • Zoe and Isa get hammered.
  • Fernando tries to make his case. Isa cries. They kiss. Diego still needs to work on it.
Bingo Updates
  • Marisol said "no puede ser"
  • Willy teased us all by needing to hide. Unfortunately for me he hid behind some curtains and out on the ledge. No bathrooms or closets.
  • Also, we had a scene a while back when the friends of Willy went on and on and gushed over the Willymóvil after they won the bet. I say that counts as "obvious product placement."

Please feel free to add your own words to the list. I am without useful Spanish CCs. (They are hit or miss.)

Refugio Para el Amor #41-42 Fri 6/22/12 Part 1- Wanna Prove You're a REAL GUY? Go Eat Worms; Part 2- Did You Know Luci and Rod Got Married?

Part I Recap by Anita

Before we get into the weeds, your humble scribe wishes to have a few words, OT.  First, Where is the Wedding Reception taking place???  I want to go there, right now.  Second, Did anyone else recognize Aldo as the reincarnated Klutzy assistant to Horacio the Furball in STuD, who made deliveries on his bicycle, took verbatim notes on seduction scenes and ineptly wooed Iluminada?  Third, While some of you are obsessed with sightings of the Pear Robe and started the Pear Robe Project, I, however, am obsessed with the legacy of the blue-rimmed glassware.  I noticed it first on Sortilegio in Merida (the first full length tn I watched).  I thought it was interesting, probably locally produced Mexican blown glass.  Then I saw it being used in Amor Real.  Wow!! Over 150 years old and still in style.  Then I saw it in humbler settings in MEPS and Mi Pecado—out in the boonies.  What’s going on here, I wondered, especially as I watched blue-rimmed goblets raised at Doña Lupe’s to toast the Newlyweds in Het Het.  My conclusion is that it must be the Mexican National Ubiquitous Glassware, made according to government standards and provided to every Televisa telenovela requiring glassware (at a discount).  I *have* noticed that when a scene calls for throwing or breaking glass, this particular line of glassware is never used.

Your humble scribe is going to skip the lo de ayer, since it is presumed everybody saw it.

Everything that happened in Het Het

A table is set for the wedding feast.  There is a gorgeous outdoor mountain top terrace overlooking a valley with more mountains in the distance.  Paz has changed out of her black into a deep rose blouse, signifying that she’s trying to get with the wedding program.  She still hasn’t recovered her composure and we tire of her Debbie-Downer mood.  Magda urges her to get happy, her daughter just married a really good guy.  Lucia and Rodrigo are so happy and in love.  Rod can’t believe they are husband and wife.  Luci says how could she have known when she first met him that they would end up getting married.  Rod always knew she would be someone important in his life.  She is now his wife.  Neither can quite believe it.  Ariche accompanies the solo violinist on his flute.  Everybody claps.  Rodrigo tells Luci that he loves her with all his heart.  She replies that she adores him.  Te Amos and kisses between them.  Don Serapio gets up; he has a few words to say.  He thanks Lucia for asking him to be their witness then toasts the couple with some wise words on how to maintain wedded bliss the way Paz and Galdino did.  Luci thanks Serapio for mentioning her daddy.  There is glass-clinking and hugs all around.

Debbie-Downer takes the groom aside and reminds him of the need for a church wedding.  She can’t quite bring herself to be really happy until she gets Rodrigo to promise not to go all, um,  horizontal on Lucia until the Padre blesses their union.  Dang, thinks Hot Bod Rod, he was already picturing it for that very night.  Oh, very well, he promises, thinking that he’d better get that church ceremony organized asap rather than later.

On the streets of Het Het, the Real Chismosas catch up with Procopio.  They are looking for Don Aquiles to tell him something, but won’t tell him what it is.  They’re sure what they have to say about Luciana will interest Don A.

After the reception is over, Magda, Paz and Serapio come back to Magda’s place.  Paz goes off to change.  Serapio tells Magda that he’s planning to buy Paz’ house, that is if the first buyer falls through.  Until he’s sure he doesn’t want Paz to know.  He says, and I quote, “Por qué son los bienes si no por remediar los malos.”  Essentially, it’s a play on the word bienes—goods (money, in this case) and good, or, what are the goods for if not to remedy the bads.  Magda reminds him that his savings came from hard work, but he’s adamant, he wants to make Paz happy (and hoping, maybe, even his wife).   Magda then shares how Don A can’t sell any of Galdino’s properties because they were never turned over to secure a loan, never notarized, so invalid.  If he does, it would be a crime.

Meanwhile, La Gorda enters Don A’s office.  She’s made up her mind to buy the Galdino house.  She’d love it if he would reduce the price a little, since she’s paying for the whole thing in cash.  That would not suit Don A.  Well, giggle, giggle, she gives him the whole bundle and leaves happy.  Don A is probably thinking that this was the easiest money he’s ever made and kicks back to contemplate the wad of dough.

Luciana and Rodrigo are taking a little paseo on the streets of Het Het with Ariche.  He’s talking about his buds and how brave they are.  Rod claims he’s a bud now and he’s brave.  He lists the activities that make him brave.  Ariche tells him that he has to prove it.  Rod is sure it will entail more competition with the sling shot, but no, it’s about eating worms.  He demonstrates.  Rod is grossed out, but he can’t be less than a brave bud, so he downs a worm.  Luci calls them a couple of cochinos (filthy pigs)  Then they try to get Luciana to go for a worm.  She’s so grossed out she won’t kiss Rodrigo (I’m with you there, girl) when she leaves to go get drinks.  Rod & Ariche have a nice little chat about daddies.

Night falls.  Rodrigo brings Luciana back to Magda’s place.  They will be going back to DF in the morning.  The newlyweds say nitey-nite to each other.  I guess Rodrigo already explained why they aren’t going to do the nitey-nite together.  There is a symbolic dropping of hands between Paz and Luci as she takes her new husband’s hand when he’s ready to leave.  Smoochies and te amos and he’s gone.  Luci says nitey-nite to the moms and retires to her room to dream of Hot Bod Rod while Rodrigo is going to dream of his new wife (although he may need a cold shower first).

Paz admits to Magda that she couldn’t tell Luciana the truth about her origins.  She just couldn’t bring herself to ruin her happiness on her wedding day.

Next morning the couple is ready to leave.  Paz is fearful of what is waiting for them.  Rod assures Paz that he will defend Luci with his life (careful what you promise, galán), “Trust me, ni mi mamá, ni nadie will make her suffer.  Luciana is already a part of my life.”  There is a long good-bye among Paz, Magda, and the newlyweds.  Ariche arrives to give them going away gifts, he gives Luci his red and white headband and gives Rod a ball his grandfather made.

Everything that Pato is doing

Pato is dreaming of Snow White and Prince Charming smiling and embracing each other—no, it’s actually Luci in Snow White’s dress with Rod smiling at Pato and telling him that Luciana is already his wife.  Pato may or may not want that particular dream to continue, but Nana Mati is there with his pills and juice.  He tells her to put the pills in his hand, to show her how much his therapy has progressed.  He grasps them in the palm of his hand; Nana is pleased.  Pato wonders if “they” are already married.  Matilde says that knowing his brother, he is.  Pato notices she is sad when she says this.  Mati is sure of all the mortifications it will bring.  “Do you mean, for example, my mother?” Pato continues, “Don’t worry, Nana, Rodrigo will defend Luciana.  If Mama wants to keep the family together, she’ll *have* to accept Luci as her DIL.”  The two gaze thoughtfully off into the distance.

Later, after Aldo leaves Hannah and Melissa downstairs after dinner, he tries to get Pato interested in going in with him in an antro (my heart just melts to see Pato smile).  Pato thinks he’s loco and wonders how he got all this information.  And what will Max think of this.  Aldo admits he’s already tried to talk to his uncle.  Speak of the devil, here he comes to tell Pato that the architect has finished with making the plans for modifying the house so it is wheelchair accessible.  Then Pato shows his dad how he is almost able to shake hands with him.  Max also tells him about going to see a specialist in Rowchesiter.  Aldo wants to go with them.  Max is que, que?

Everything that is making Gala Ms. Mopey of the year

Gala arrives back home, desecha, for not being able to catch her Hot Rod before he took off, leaving her holding the bag—of dirt on Lucia.  Julie & Connie are chatting about who else but Gala and Luciana.  Gala ignores them and walks past them in some very uncomfortable-looking high heeled red shoes that must be pretending to be de mode.  The house phone rings, ehh, can’t be bothered.  Cell phone rings, it’s Fernanda, ehh, can’t be bothered.  She’d rather mope.

Connie gets up to go.  Julie can’t believe Connie doesn’t want to stick around to hear the dirt they’ve collected on Luci.  Connie isn’t into chismes, especially ones about folks who haven’t done anything to her.  In fact, she thinks Luci is a pretty decent chick.  Julie assures her that she ain’t and sooner or later Connie will learn it all.  The Torreslandas should be concerning themselves more now with how Gala is doing.  Connie wonders what they could possibly do, with Rosa carrying on and furious all the time.  True, but not because of Gala, but at Rodrigo and that sirvienta getting what she wanted.  Connie sighs, she thinks it’s time to darle carpeta to all of this.  (I think she means to end it; couldn’t find darle carpeta in the idiomatic sources I tried—babelfish said it was to give the folder) and let Rodrigo live his life.  Julie doesn’t think it’s that easy.  Connie does.  Oh, and by the way, she’s going back to her own house at the end of the week.  No, no, she can’t.  Connie says, there’s nothing more she can do for her sister.  Roselena loves to suffer, so let her suffer.   No, no, Julie reminds her she can’t because this weekend Oscar invited them to do a three-way, out dancing, that is.  Oh, ok, she’ll think about it. Bye.

Gala is still in the dumps.  Julie thinks some champagne will cheer her up.  Gala would rather just forget the whole thing.  Julie is desperate to think of something to animate her daughter to reconquer Rod.  She’s sure that Rosa is going to separate Rod from Luci and that Gala is the right woman for her son and that will leave the way clear for Gala.   Julie doesn’t want to lose her Nieworquino apartment (she used it for collateral for a loan).  Gala, in a moment of clarity tells mama Julie that she’s living in a dream world.  Even the arrival of her two BFF, one blonde, the other brunette, can’t get her animated enough to go out on the town.  Gala tells them to, wait for it, Déjame en Paz.  Julie is still delusional thinking that the information she’s gathering to use against Luciana will be worth it.  She’s convinced that Rodrigo only wants to have a little aventura (fling) with her and then as in all flings, he’ll leave her.  The bobbsey friends don’t think it’s worth it.  Julie is convinced it is.

Everything that is eating up Roselena

Padre Honesto lives up to his name.  He tells Rosa that she’ll just have to accept Luciana as her DIL in the event Rodrigo decides to marry her.  How can he ask her that, he who knows all the things that she’s anguished about.  If he marries her, there is nothing more she can do, he counsels.  No, she’s not going to lose her son.  Padre keeps going, with this one or with any other one of his choice, she is going to have to respect his decision.  No, she’s not going to give up.  She’s going to send Rodrigo to the Padre to see if getting a little closer to God will bring him to his senses.

Everything Claudio has pendiente before his 20-day trip

Claudio is getting ready to leave the office to stop by Aurora’s tomb.  Norma brings him a folder (la carpeta) with the things on his docket.  Then there is the matter of Melissa’s thesis.  He asks Norma to make a copy of it.  She wonders how he can take on one more thing, as busy as he is.  He’s going to do it because she was so persuasive.  True, he doesn’t know her very well, but he’s known her mother for many years.  She’s also Roselena Torreslanda’s niece and Max’s, his worst enemy.  Claudio gets to the cemetery and talks to Aurora.  We assume she's listening and not busy doing something else.  Then he talks to cemetery guy about why the exhumation authorization is taking so long.  Cemetery guy mentions that the Sra. Torreslanda was there.  That’s a surprise.  CG was sure that Mrs. TL was going to pass on the information he gave her about the exhumations.  Claudio wants CG to be the one to call him the minute he knows anything.  CG pats his CHEQUE after Claudio leaves.

Everything that happens during the Torreslanda dinner hour

The dinner table is full of people on one side and empty on the other.  (That bothers your humble scribe…the better the cameras to see you by, m’dears, just like hospital beds which are cranked half-way up to get a better angle of a patient—but I digress.)  Roselena, Oscar, Hannah and Max are seated.  Roselena is still complaining about not knowing Rod’s whereabouts.  Frigida hovers, her icy breath mingling with the Ice Queen’s.  There’s definitely a chill in the air.  Max states the obvious, “We all know he’s with Luciana.”  Connie breezes in, apologizing for being late.  She was with Julie and to answer Rosa’s question, Gala is very depressed.  General conversation halts.  Oscar tries to get it started again by asking Hannah what's up.  Hannah shares her news about Boris being her novio.  Rosa lights right into her—is she going to pull the same stunt as her brother?  Why haven’t they met him, she needs to ask permission from both her parents.  Hannah can’t believe they are so old fashioned, it’s not like they’re getting married or anything.  Melissa arrives in the nick of time and Hannah’s pecadillo is replaced by Melissa’s bigger one when she tells them her advisor is going to be Claudio Linares.  He’s very respected in the academic community so, ya.  Maximum Strength Maximus does a slow chew.  He’s sure it was Linares that approached her, but she denies it.  She met him at a conference a few days ago.  Hannah met him there.  Even Connie was there.  Rosa thinks she could still pick someone else, but Melissa is decidida.

The men rise from the table abruptly and retire to the biblioteca.  Rosa can’t believe Connie never said a word to her about meeting Linares.  Connie never attached much importance to it and she’s just now finding out about the advisor thing herself.  Rosa doesn’t believe her (since she only believes her version of stories).  Even Melissa’s declarations are insufficient.  Rosa rises with her face set and asks Connie to talk—alone.  Frigida is to bring them coffee (and get a grand opportunity to eavesdrop).  Hanna and Melissa are left to rehash what just happened, realizing that Linares’ friendship with Luciana wasn’t mentioned.  Frigida, who is clearing the table picks up yet another tid-bit to pass on to Gala & Co.

Connie and Roselena carry on their convo a solas in the master bedroom.  Rosa goes first, “Ok, maybe you just met Linares, but now your daughter is mixed up with him and you know how *she* is.”  Connie comes back with, “Oh yeah, and how *is* she?  I, for one, am very proud of her; she has a great sense of justice.”  They lob word grenades back and forth—Linares is a good man and Rosa knows it; he defrauded their empresa; Rosa took care of his wife, yadda, yadda.  What has Rosa in a snit now is that Claudio wants to exhume the remains of his wife and daughter.  This gives Connie pause.  “You know what that means,” Rosa says to Connie, “he’ll learn his daughter was never buried with his wife.”  Connie believes the moment has arrived to tell the whole truth.  Rosa says she’s crazy.  Connie begs her that now is the time to tell Claudio what happened to his child.  No, it can’t be, how on earth will Claudio react if he learns about this.

Back in the dining room, Frigida is really taking her time clearing dishes, hoping to pick up some more juicy stuff, while Hanna and Melissa continue their conversation,.  They note that the names of two people that can never be mentioned in this house are Luciana and Claudio Linares, two people they greatly esteem.  Why do the grown-ups in this house show such hostility towards them, and yet seem to have a tight connection to the Torreslanda family.  The girls are puzzled by Max’s anger towards his former associate when he should be pleased he’s trying to clear his name, since besides being Max’s associate, he was also his friend.

Aldo breezes in long enough to make big about how they are talking to a future millionairo but since they don’t understand business, he’ll go talk to Pato instead.

Matilde brings coffee to the men in the library.  Max and Oscar are still trying to figure out if Claudio Linares has any ulterior motives for trying to get close to members of his family, through Melissa, for instance.  Oscar wonders why every time his name is mentioned, Max freaks out.  Oscar needs Max to calm down, leave the matter of Linares to him and then he walks out.

Frigida interrupts the war of words to bring in the coffee to Rosa and Connie.  Frigida leaves but doesn’t leave—she posts herself right outside the door, leaving it cracked in order to enjoy any drops of eaves that might reach her.  Connie walks over to the door and slams it, making Frigida’s hair blow in the gust of air.  (And what have we here viewerville—Telenovela Cliché #448: “You must leave doors open when you are having a key behind-closed-doors private conversation,” has, in effect, been *broken.*)  Connie begs her to understand that if she lets things go on as they are, they will resolve themselves one way or another and then what will happen among her children and her husband.  She needs to unburden herself of what has been weighing her down for 20 years.

The scene ends here, but the episodio ends with Gala wanting to be left in paz.

Part II- Recap by Madelaine

Het Het:

The Chisme Ladies have arrived at Don A's to give him the good news bout Luci. He is like what good news? Oh, you didn't know, did you? Luci got married to that handsome man from the D. F. Don A so doesn't believe his palomita got married. (Note to Don A: Copio took the day off dude. And if you hadn't been doing dirty dealings, you would have known there was a wedding in town, jus' sayin). He throws the Chisme Ladies out.

The investigator is on the streets of Het Het, just walking around. The P.I. stops at Don Serapio's and tells him his cell phone doesn't seem to be working and is there somewhere he can use a phone? Don Serapio says to use his, no problem. Don Serapio goes to the coffin room, but the door is wide open and he hears everything.

Luci and Rod are walking hand in hand down the street. Later,  they get on a Torreslanda corporate jet. The pilots greet Rod and the new Senora Torreslanda. Luci is very afraid to fly. (OT: This is like the flight scene with Rafa and Alejandra from Dinero, and Pancho and Rebe from UFCS, too funny) He assures her it is perfectly safe to fly, he holds her hand, she blesses them both and the plane starts moving. She is very scared but Rod assures her again. She ends up falling asleep on his shoulder and he thinks about the first time he talked to her.

Don A has come to call on Magda, Paz and Ariche, he wants to verify what he heard from the Chisme Ladies about his Palomita, being married. Is this true? They tell him yes. He wants to know how this is possible. La Palomita's future should have been with him, should not have married some chilango (person from Mexico City). They throw him out of the house, and he swears he will get back at them for withholding this info from him.

Madga and Paz are by themselves now and Paz is worried what will happen when Luci gets back to the D.F .and has to face Rosa. Magda says Rod promised to protect Luci from Rosa, but Paz says Rod works during the day, Luci will be alone, and that is when Rosa will raise hell with her, uh, you get the gist. Magda and Paz are still painting pots, and they talk about Violetta. Magda misses her mushos, but is resigned to the fact, that Violetta will never leave the big city and come home to Het Het. Too much opportunity for Violetta in the D.F.

Mexico City:

Julie has gone to see Rosa about Gala. Gala is in a terrible state, and Julie has hired a P.I. to find out info on her, but she is having money problems. Rosa assures her money won't be a problem, but they need to get the dirt. Rosa also says Gala is very strong, she'll make it through this. Julie gets up to leave but tells Rosa, Rod is the one that is chasing this servant, and if you don't watch out he'll come home married to her! Rosa is unable to answer, there is too much smoke coming out of her ears.

The good news is starting to travel. Dona Estella tells Violetta that Luci and Rod are married now. Don Serapio called to tell her. Violetta is very happy and so is Marinita. There is a knock on the door, and it is Serena. She has nowhere to live now. She was unable to pay her rent, cause she hasn't been paid in three months, and Dona Estella takes her in.

Pato and Melissa are in Pato's room and Melissa is helping him with some work. She is working the keyboard, Mati had so much trouble with. She wants to know what he thinks of Claudio helping her with her thesis? He doesn't know. Melissa tells Pato he is a brilliant lawyer, very well esteemed, and that he is a gentleman. A text comes in and it's from Rod. He is telling them he and Luci got married. Pato is sort of sad. Hanna and Mati have come into the room and Pato tells them Rod and Luci got married. They are both very happy, but Pato is getting sadder. Hanna knows why, but tries to cheer him up, by saying what a great thing this is. Mati is happy too, but prays to the Virgincita for a little peace and happiness for Rod and Luci. Melissa wants to know if Pato will be the one to tell Rosa.

Gabe is video conferencing with Oscar and Marcos, when Marcos gets a text, about , wait for it, Rod and Luci got married. Oscar is shocked, but Gabe and Marcos are happy, when Max walks in. He wants to know why they are celebrating, noone really wants to say, when Max himself gets a text, about, can anyone guess, that's right, Rod and Luci got married. Max isn't real happy and neither is Oscar. I think Oscar is asking Max if he will disinherit Rod for doing this, but I think Max tells him, he needs him for the business and he will have to respect what Rod has done.

Rosa is in her room alone, and has summoned Mati. She wants to know why Melissa, Hanna, Mati and Pato were doing together in Pato's room. Mati is like why, who wants to know, no not that, but Rosa is fishing for info. She has Mati sit down and she starts the Inquistion. She wants to know what Mati knows about Luci. Mati tells her she is a good and earnest girl, her parents live in the North, and she has a brother Lorenzo here, who by the way, you threw out, and a friend named Violetta from her home town. Well this kind of satisfies Rosa, but not much. She also wants to know if Rod has contacted Pato. Mati is coy and doesn't say anything. Mati says she doesn't want to say anything more. Rosa just wants to be the *first* doncha know, to know if Rod contacts Pato.

Norma and Claudio are in his office, he has just come back from the cemetary. He tells her he has some news. She wants to know if it is good or bad. He says he doesn't know which, but Rosa knew about the exhumation, and he wants to talk to her, ruh, roh.

Julie is with Gala. Gala is still moping when the P.I. calls from Het Het. Julie is so excited, cause she thinks he finally got the dirt on Luci, and puts him on speaker phone. He tells Gala and Julie that Rod Torreslanda and Luci Jacinto Flores are married, punto. Julie thinks it must be a mistake. The P.I. tells her no mistake it is a fact. Gala in the meantime, is clearing everything, and I mean everything off the tables, the sofa, throwing the cell phone (better than Sergio Sendel, Uni must have an excess of cell phones, jus' sayin') and she is completely hysterical. She keeps screaming and crying and saying he married that servant, Mama, Mama, she goes on and on. Where is the manicomio for her already??????

Violetta and Ivan are having a meet, and he tells her she has a show now, cause the clientle like the way she sings. She wants to talk to Ivan about Lorenzo. She thinks he would be fab in the casino. Ivan wants to know what Lorenzo is to her, while he is leering at her. She tells him, just a friend, he stays with her, helps her with the rent, nothing else going on. She thinks he is very smart. Ivan tells her they really need Lorenzo in the back bodega with the alcohol. Ivan says he will have to run this by Lastra. Violetta has gone out to the bar area, and tells Lorenzo and Polo that, are you ready, Luci got married to Rod. Lorenzo is meh about it. Aldo and Ivan come up. There was something about Lorenzo maybe getting a new boss, but in the meantime, clean those glasses like a good boy.

Rod and Luci have landed in the D.F. I'm assuming. The Captian greets Rod and he introduces him to Luci. He congratulates the newlyweds and they get into Rod's little black sports car and head off.

Rosa is at Torreslanda looking for Max. She is looking every inch the Stepford Wife, really no movement of eyes, head, hair etc. She tells his secretary she wants to see him. She has to wait, while the secretary phones him to see where he is at. Of course, he is in his little love nest, waiting on Vicky, but tells the secretary to tell his wife he is in a meeting, not at Torreslanda and cannot be disturbed. She tells Rosa this, who is not a happy camper, but when is she ever????

Meanwhile, Vicky is late to her little meet with Max. He is so impatient waiting for her. She finally comes in and apologizes but tells him she had a client and couldn't just drop everything and come running. He really isn't happy at all. So he says, oh, your client is more important than me??? (Vicky: memba that advice I gave you, stop being a door mat and dump this guy). She tries to assure him she has to work, doncha know she isn't rich like him, but you get the gist. He warns her again, neva, eva to betray him. He goes, she's pithed.

Oscar has dropped by Julie's place, to see how Gala is doing. Julie tells him not good. He suggests that Julie get her professional help. She is sick in the head doncha know. She says she knows, Gala stays in bed all day, is depressed, doesn't want to do anything. Julie goes on about how Hot Bod Rod married that servant. Oscar tells Julie (Ruh Roh) that Rosa doesn't know about the Rod and Luci getting married part. Julie says this servant pulled the wool over everyone's eyes, and just wait until they find out how much. Oscar doesn't like that idea. He tells Julie to just let it go. Julie want to tell Oscar exactly what Luci was up to, and invites him to have a glass of champagne. Meanwhile, Gala is in bed, pretending to be asleep, and has used the Frigid method to take everything in.

Rosa is in bed, and Max comes in. Well, she just jumps right out of that bed and she wants to talk about where he's been? She went to his office doncha know and he wasn't there. She wants to know, right this minute, where he was. I have to give Max credit here, cause he actually told her the truth. He says I was with my lover, happy now, what's it to ya? He tells her, her jealousy is getting out of control again. She wants to know if he was with another woman? I have to say here, listen you nutjob, he told you the truth already, but your green eyed monster, must be asleep, jus' sayin'. Max tells her he is goin' to sleep and rolls over and does just that. Of course, this will put ole Rosa on another "suffering" mode.

Pato is in his room, in the dark, thinking of the time he talked to Luci in Het Het. He is really suffering unrequited love.

Rod and Luci finally have come to their destination. It is a really nice hotel. The clerk asks if they want the honeymoon suite, Rod is like yeah, but Luci looks at him and he says two rooms. So the clerk does that. Rod goes to Luci's room and he is looking at her with the bridegroom's view of, wait for it, let's get en flagrante already, but he calls her a princessa and many smoochies.

Advances:

Pato and Max talk about Aurora.

Rosa has a meltdown, must be the 1,000th one, just saying.

Looks like Rod and Luci may get en flagrante .

Abismo de pasión #73 6/22/12 Damien, Gael, Gabby and Agosto are Shirtless (And other Things)

Sorry this is so late.  Please interpret or clarify whatever you can.

Church Carmina is in the church and yet, her flesh has not melted from her body.  Maybe she’s not as bad as we think.  Padre talks about someone having proof on her.  He draws in a deep breath.  He can smell the evil all over her.  Carmina says that Gabino has nothing on her.  Did anyone say anything about Gabino?  Gabino knows the truth?  Padre Lupe strongly encourages her to tell the truth before it’s too late.  Sooner or later, whatever is in the dark will come to the light.  She won’t have a moment of peace until she confesses what she’s done.  Mystery:  a child keeps yelling in the background, but Carmina and Lupe are the only two people in the church.

Cenote The Swingers Club (Dam, Gael, Paloma, Elisa) has just finished taking a dip in the cool waters of the Cenote.  Gael and Paloma are sitting on a rock drying in the sun. Once again, Gael is wearing the standard issue plaid shirt issued to all La Ermita males over the age of 15.  They are discussing Kenia’s obsession Agosto; Paloma blames Agosto.  Paloma tells Gael that Carmina was knocked up before she married Agosto.  Gael wants to tell Elisa, but she swears him to secrecy.  She told her grandma that she wouldn’t tell anyone else.  She only told him because he’s her boyfriend.  Meanwhile, Elisa re-reads the Kenia’s note and tells Damien that she wants to talk to Kenia.  She’s feeling guilty about not believing her about lusting over Agosto.  It was a logical mistake Elisa; we all made it.    Side note, Elisa has a really pretty voice (sultry) when she’s not crying.

Hacienda de Arango Gambino is pissed about Alfonsina hiring Guido and has gone to visit Alfonsina.  He’s upset because after Damien quit, she put him in charge, then hired Guido without informing him.  She tells him not to take it personally.  Guido is an experienced business man.  Gabino angrily points out that no one is more experienced in the habanero business than him.  Alfonsina says that Guido is a responsible gentleman with class and frankly, she’s doing it because would like the opportunity to have hot sex with Guido one day.  Gabino wants to know if she means that Guido is more responsible than him.  She says, “Of course”, while rolling her eyes and flipping her hair.  I think he tells her that he deserves a chance because he has worked hard for her for years.  She tells him that Guido and Paolo are part of her family and he is just an employee.  She tells him to get back to work.  He looks like he wants to smack the hell out of her.  He storms out.

For some reason beyond me, Tonia is in front of the house drawing water out of the decorative fountain with a plastic green mop bucket.  She spies Gabino stomping down the sidewalk and decides to taunt him.  At that point Gabino runs over and decides to take all of his pent up rage out on her.  He grabs her by her arm and demands to know, “What is your problem with me?” He then tries to have sex with her out on the front lawn.  She tells him over and over again to “sueltame”!  I think he tells her that she isn’t getting what she needs from Braulio (which could be true in my opinion).  She tells him that Braulio is a better man than him and tries to escape, but he grabs with a choke hold and dry humps her from behind.  Yes, Pinky, all of this is happening in PLAIN VIEW in front of the Hacienda Arango and no one notices.  Sueltame! Normally, I don’t blame the woman, but shouldn’t she have thought of that before she decided to mess with him.  Goodness!  He finally lets her go.  She wipes his kisses and the smell of his sweat from her body.

Casa de Kenia Damien and Elisa have come to speak with Kenia.  Kenia doesn’t answer the door since she’s still dead somewhere in the Cenote.

Casa de Castanon Horacio tells Gabby about the letter Kenia gave him to give to Agosto and how he gave the letter to Camina.  I think Gabby tells Horacio that he just signed Kenia’s death certificate and walks away.

Plaza Damien (wearing blue plaid shirt), and Elisa are making goo goo eyes at each other.  He wants to walk her home so they can talk to her father together.  She says that this is something that she has to do alone.  He can’t keep his hands off of her.

Casa de Castanon Horacio stops Carmina, he tells her that Gabino stopped by looking for Kenia.   I think he tells her that he told Gabby about the letter.  She calls him a fool.  I think she tells him that they have to leave or do something early in the morning.   I don’t know what else they discussed, but it had something to do with Dolores.  Commericial.

Clinic Don Lucio is visiting Dr. Whupped (by Agosto).  He looks like he was beat with a brick.  They discuss how he was tempted by Carmina and how it has bought problems to his marriage.  Paloma walks in and sees his face.  She tells him that it’s her fault that he caught a beat down.  She’s the one who slipped up and told Alfonsina.  Dr. Whupped (by Agosto) knows that Alfonsina is going to tell Mrs. Kravitz who will only spread her own gossip all over town.  She asks his forgiveness.

Casa de Castanon Home Office Carmina calls Gabino, but hangs up quickly when Agosto, looking quite well for being in a fist fight walks in.  He hangs up his hat and asks who Carmina is talking to.  She tries to change the subject, but he demands to know who she was talking to.  He wants to know if she was talking to Tovar.  She wants to know why, then sits on him lap and smooches with him a little.  Does she know that he whupped up on Dr. Whupped?  Anyways, they go up stairs and have “hot sex”.  They are both breathing heavily.  Afterwards, he throws some bills on the bed (like she’s a good little hooker) and tells her to get the hell out (he is a dead man).  The words of the priest come back to her.  She thinks he’s mad about Rosendo and doesn’t realize that he’s talking about Dr. Tovar.  I really don’t get what they were discussing.  Please interpret.

Casa de Arango Mrs. Kravitz (Begona) is visiting Alfonsina. She wants to suck up.  Alfonsina tells Tonia to put Mrs. Kravitz out.  At first she doesn’t go, but Alfonsina has enough time to tell her about her gossiping and I THINK Alfonsina tells her that they were both cheated on.

Casa de Mickey and Mallory Gabby is removing her jewelry, preparing for bed.  A half-naked Gabby, is snacking in bed beside her.  I think he’s getting ready for a marathon session and needs protein and carbs to keep his endurance up.   She’s gonna be a happy girl tonight because he’s frustrated and needs to get out all of that aggression.  He’s still bitchin’ about how he’s worked all these years for Alfonsina and she treats him like dirt.  He looks delicious and I bet he tastes good too.  Ingrid is upset because she still can’t get Gael on her side.

Casa Arango Florencia has no pride.  She is still there and Damien is not.  I would have bounced by now or secretly slept with Enrique to make myself feel better.  The Italians are in Florencia’s bedroom.  I don’t know what they are discussing, but when her father walks in, she gets in a snit and leaves.

Casa de Castanon Elisa is in her bedroom, holding her amulet.  She is thinking of Damien and how she told him that she wants to talk to her father alone first.

Clinic Oh my gosh! Both Damien and Gael are wearing matching plaid shirts, cowboy boots and cowboy hats.  Damien should RUN back to Florencia (she would have never allowed this fashion don’t).  Damien is there to ask about his amulet.  The nurse says that they haven’t found it.  Commercial.

Casa de Arango Guido and Alfonsina discuss her relationship with Damien and what’s going on at the procesadora.  He tells her that Gabby was upset about him new position.  He says that Gabby acts like he owns the place.  She tells him to fire Gabby.  She is a big bitch!  I love her.

Casa de Castanon Horacio and Dolores discuss putting his meat business in the location where he accidentally murdered Blanca.  He protests and storms out.

Church Alfonsina calls Lupe.  She wants to discuss what Damien is doing at his uncle’s house.  They argue.  I think it’s about how she wants to run her son’s life.  Did she say that she was going to stop her giving?

Damien and Gael run in fight over who gets the bathroom first.  Gael won.

Clinic Begona visits Dr. Tovar.  He wants to talk to her about something very serious.  She crawls in the bed with him.  He doesn’t tell her that he cheated on her with Carmina.  She blames their problems on Alfonsina and tells him that she will commit to her family.  He shocked but it looks like they are getting back together.

Church Damien is wearing some black BVDs.  Today’s not my birthday, but thanks wardrobe department.  How did you know that I would enjoy that?  He reaches into the closet and removes a plaid shirt (you can take a man out of La Ermita, but you can’t take La Ermita out of the man….he’s been to Europe…didn’t he learn anything?).  Anyways, something drops out of the shirt.  As he bends down to retrieve the item, the camera follows every inch of his body.  What a treat!  If I had the time, I would review him from his head to his toes, but I’m about to go to church (for real) and I can’t have my skin burning off from all the lustful thoughts I am thinking.  Anyway, he picks up the amulet.  Gael, the dirty rat, has had it the entire time!  Gael comes out of the bathroom and Damien confronts him.
