OK bloggers, what do you want to do about Univision and its crazy schedule?

Gancho bloggers, your show is about to end. We could sure use some of you on Dinero - we have no Monday blogger and if they're going to run two hours a night it would be nice to have more coverage!

Corazon Salvaje people, do you want to dump your midnight madness and become the new Dueña team? You'd get Colunga and Lucero and that magnificent villain David Zepeda (we loved, loved him in Sortilegio).

Pecado team, are you happy as you are?

any other takers?

Melinama, I'm cool sticking with Pecado on Thursdays. And I'm looking forward to David Zepata in the new one too! :)

Does anyone know when Soy Tu Duena is to begin?

After Sortilegio and En Nombre del Amor ended, I moved from Univision to Telemundo, finding "El Clon" and "¿Dónde Está Elisa?" more appealing than any of the Univision offerings. So I haven't been keeping up with what's been happening on Univision. However, I'm really curious about Melinama's message, and especially about when "Soy Tu Dueña" will air (starting date and time slot). Colunga, Lucero, and David Zepeda--WOW!!

Melinama and others, after Gancho ends I might take a brief break until August. I plan to cross the Pacific in July and will be gone most of that month. Not sure if I will be watching Pecado or Dinero in the interim, of course if Colunga is in anything he trumps them all. I'll be around and might be available to sub on the early shows, 7:00 or 8:00 (first hour only if a 2-hour show); I get up wicked early and currently cannot recap the 9:00 TNs.

Hello, CHF:

I am interested in recapping Soy tu dueña. I would love to share a day with someone, recapping every other week if possible. Capn, interested in sharing a slot?

I am unable to help out on Hasta.

Best Regards,

EJ

Temptress!!

Wow! I've been so occupied with life, I haven't even caught up on any CS episodes since the last one I recapped. I planned to get caught up tomorrow during the day. It might actually suit my new crazy schedule to have it airing later at night, but at the same time, I'm very intrigued by the idea of Duena! It looks positively steamy! Do we have dates yet? My DVR didn't even catch on--I recorded what was labeled as tonight's CS at the usual time, but is actually the second hour of Dinero. What crack are they smoking over at Uni?! For now, I'll update my DVR settings and plan to recap tomorrow's CS and then wait and see what everyone else is doing.

Quite a crop of TN's these days, huh? Maybe Dueña will be a bright spot. Hope springs eternal. I know the TNW crowd likes to gripe a lot, but I'm inclined to agree with eeyore over there: "IMHO watching corn grow is starting to look more and more interesting every day."

In other news, my favorite actor mentioned me on his Twitter page. Cool beans!

I’m happy with my slot – Pecado on Mondays!

please don't stop sharing with us corazon salvaje recaps

Melinama: I'd like to do Dueña on Fridays.

We could cover CS translating esmas notes to give the gist of what's happening. I had the player set and fell asleep (a first in all these years!) and missed recording CS! GRRR! I for one will have to set the recorder for 2-3 hrs. at a time to capture it.

If I can get good Youtube videos for CS I'll keep recapping Thursdays. It is totally messed up. I'm on for the next one too whenever it starts.

I'm prepared to continue recapping CS on Mondays late night. I don't know if Gloria wants to continue sharing the duties with me or not.

(STUD -- Soy Tu Due~a)

Jody :)

I intend to continue watching CS and commenting; we have had a good discussion that I've enjoyed very much.

Before this time change (tiempo salvage) I was having trouble with my travel schedule and keeping up with Corazon Salvage at a civilized hour. Now with this late night change, I would like to step out if someone would take on my Wednesdays. I sure wish Univision would stop making us all crazy (or were we already?)

Hey Cheryl, I think we should dial down the recaps on CS now that it has left my "target time slots." I have been trying to keep this blog focused on Univision 7, 8, 9 pm, though other people keep suggesting side projects! I like Black-Heart's idea of just sketchily covering whatever part of CS nobody wants to recap any more.

What exactly are they doing with CS now? An ad last night said Pecadora starts next monday at midnight, if I understood it correctly. Que the heck?!

Dueña looks fantastic. I'm all tied up in Dinero (ha! if only that were literal) but will have to squeeze Dueña into my schedule too.

Hi Melinama. I'd be available to sub on Mi Pecado. Like Sylvia I get up wicked early so reluctant to do anything later.

However, since there's a need, I'd be willing to recap the first hour of Dinero once Gancho ends. NOT on Fridays though. Any day but that.

I guess the need is greatest on Monday nights....(hopefully this double hour nonsense won't last too long) so I could do the 7 pm Dinero slot if you need me there. If not, will go on "unemployment".

I don't have a dog in this race since I'm recapping Clon on TM. But maybe that gives me the freedom to be frank. (Board Mom, I'm talking to site guests, not to you.) I don't think it's reasonable to expect recappers to cover a 2-hour Dinero on a regular basis. Nor to recap a midnight show. The recappers are already giving a tremendous gift, putting in the hours it takes, being committed for the duration, and all that for no reward except the compliments. To ask for more is unreasonable.

Of course, if someone has a burning desire to recap Horazo Salvaje (hora-azo: a punch/strike from the late hour), no one should stop them. But no one should feel obligated to do it. That's too much. A translation of the Esmas summary is plenty. Any reader who thinks it should be covered is welcome to step up and recap. Put your money where your mouth is.

As for Dinero, it already has that unfilled day, and the comments are mighty, mighty sparse. I can't blame any Dinero recapper who says, "I'll recap the first hour, but not the second." Or, "I'll cover both hours, but don't be surprised if I write only one sentence per scene." You committed to one hour per week. It's not fair to EXPECT you to double your work.

Okay, I know I've been harsh. Go ahead and throw the tomatoes. I brought my raincoat. Again, Melinama, I'm NOT talking to you. It's obvious that you're not asking this from your recappers.

I've been so out of the loop lately I haven't even recapped my own show, but that shouldn't be a big constant so when Gancho ends I'd be willing to take a Dinero slot...forgive me but I can't tell which days/hours are missing recappers...maybe a spreadsheet of time slots would be helpful if anyone has time to post that somehow... I'd try meting one out but I'm slammed with work right now...

I'm going to have to take a break from recapping after Gancho ends. I'm sure I'll be back one day, though.

Floresdeazul, I think Pecadora is on at 12:00 noon (they said (12 MD, which is mid-day,). I'm not positive about this, but that would allow CS to continue at 12 MN.

Paula H:
"In other news, my favorite actor mentioned me on his Twitter page. Cool beans!"

Congratulations! May I ask who he/she is? :-)

I agree with you. I used to recap Rome and Firefly, and after the 16th week I felt like my brain dried out. I don't know how caray recappers manage to accomplish their mission, because for me it always took almost a day to write a long and funny summary of an episode. So I raise my hat to the recappers, because it's a very hard job. Especially as they can't use subtitles or close captions.

On the other hand, I'm sorry for these changes, and I enjoy Circo salvaje recaps very much. If I was a native English speaker I'd happily join the team, but my lack of grammar and vocabulary foils my wishes. :-) However, if anyone wants to quit recapping, the esmas summaries will be good enough for us, I think there are readers who'd fill in the gaps.

Thank you for the great job, people.

Paula, you are totally reasonable. I'm not going to throw tomatoes. We can not expect more from them than they are doing right now IMHO.

And I'm totally grateful to all of them and Melinama for keeping this site alive.

And by them I mean all our great recappers. Sorry.

(Good heavens, Aribeth, your English is terrific!)

Well, I'm sticking with my Tuesday Mi Pecado slot. I hope they straighten out the schedule soon; two hours per night of a single show is much too much, and I'd love to keep our beloved Gancho recappers going on something.

Aribeth, you're selling yourself short! I've been reading your comments for awhile now, and I'd never have guessed you weren't a native English speaker if you hadn't said so.

Poor Aribeth doesn't know who Paula's favorite actor is. Maybe she's been living under a rock for three years. (Just kidding, Aribeth. It's because most people get sick of me talking about him.) While TBLMOE is obviously Colunga, my favorite actor is Jaime Camil, because of his exuberance, the way he bungee jumps into life. He's been having a lot of fun with Twitter.

Connie, every single Corazon Salvaje is here.

Did you read the Friday recaps? We were discussing that.

Ibarramedia

Hi all, blog mom here,

The trouble with our spreading our resources (ie recappers) all over the known spanish-language tv universe is that it's hard to keep things covered. Yes, JudyB, our biggest need at the moment is Monday nights on Dinero. I don't know how long this 2-hour baloney is supposed to go on. So JudyB are you game? If so - starting when?? Thanks!

I think current CS folks who want to bail - and Gancho people who are about to lose their show - get first dibs on the new Boss-Lady show.

Melinama...I'll start this Monday, May 3rd, and recap the 7 pm section. I may mess up the names at first but I know my teammates will help me.

Thanks Ibarramedia. I did not get to finish reading all the comments on Friday.

Do we know when the new show STUD starts?

I just looked at what I typed. How funny. FC is a stud that's for sure.

Connie, yes. And STUD is far preferable to STD!

Yes. I also forgot to say that if there are more recappers than spots for the new show I'd be happy to share Thursday with anyone who wants to give it a whack. 8(:P

I just posted a comment but I don't know where it went.

Hi, Blogmom:

I have been a sub on Gancho. I am going to try to twist Sylvia's arm to share with me (after she returns from her trip) if that works for you.

I am still interested in Soy Tu Duena.

EJ

I am hoping that we'll still be able to talk about CS even if we can't have recaps. I am looking forward to seeing what happens. Hub taped the show last night [I hope it taped correctly] , but I haven't had a chance to see it yet. I am looking forward to FC in STUD. Does anyone know when it will start? Was CS moved to midnight to allow STUD to have the 9 pm spot ?

I read it comes after Corazon so not sure how that is going to play out with the new time slot.

mad bess, the rumor is the upheaval is due to sweeps week coming up in May. Dinero is the only thing they've got right now that's pulling ratings, and it's below 20 itself.

So really their only choice was to double up their good show. CS was getting second-best ratings, with all five episodes in the Nielsen Hispanic Top Ten and all episodes more than 3 million.

But that apparently doesn't cut it any more in this post-apolcapytic ratings world. Essentially the same thing happened to Pasión a couple years ago, and they didn't see the need to make such a drastic move.

But it happened to Gancho first, as far as I can tell. So, I don't think it's just a CS thing.

Judy B. Bless your heart. This is why you are my role model!! We may be a small group of recappers and commenters on Dinero but as was proved to day after my little pittyfest melt down, we are loyal and supportive of each other. I am so excited you will be joining us.

If it ends up that CS is relegated to summaries, are those something that would be posted here, or are they already translated somewhere, or..? I don't want to give up on CS myself, but if there's nothing available in English for it, I'll probably have to.

Found out last night that it looks like one another (English-language) show I like is getting the axe altogether. This has been a fun week already.

Dear Mad Marley, of course what we have will be posted here. It seems like it may be a combinations of "real" recaps and summaries.

I feel like mom and dad are getting a divorce, although my real life parents stayed together to fight, HA! Mostly I feel relieved that we will not try to follow CS into the wee hours, but I do intend to follow it, I actually am very fond of this wacky plot and of course I love Lalo Yáñez and think Aracely is doing a bang up job as twins. I am fond of many of the other good and bad folks who populate this story.

It sounds like consensus of the C2 crowd and Dear Blog Queen Melinama are okay with bagging CS as far as full regular recaps are involved. I will lurk in the comments, this community is way too amusing and endearing to abandon. I can also be available later this summer for substitute recapping of any of the prime time shows that remain front line here on CarayCaray.

Hi all,

I think I am also going to try and stick it out with CS. But also, I'd be willing to give recapping a try if there any nights, or shared nights, of CS that aren't covered. I should say though that I follow the episodes on youtube now as I've moved a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately I don't get Univision any more. But I really enjoy this board and reading all the recaps (even though I am mostly lurking and rarely post), so I am sticking with the show. :)

- Lea

cheryl, so funny. lea, thanks. Tomorrow I'll try to get a handle on these responses and post some sort of plan.

Hi, Lea -- nice to see you. :-) I am also willing to try to fill in at CS if I don't have any trouble getting the episodes earlier online.

I'm inclined to agree with eeyore over there: "IMHO watching corn grow is starting to look more and more interesting every day." -- Paula, thank you. BTW, I'm eeyore on TNW.

Floresdeazul -- like Hombre said, Pecadora will be airing at Noon (east coast time) on Univision.

Connie and Paula -- I started the discussion on colungateam.com about the abbreviation for the very reason that Paula noted. My friend Liliart suggested STUD. So, we need to thank her for this.

Jody :)

Qué the heck is Univision thinking with a 2-hour Dinero and a no-show Corazón Salvaje? At least in my time zone and cable provider it was a no show last night. If not for Jody's fine recap, I would be clueless since YouTube has been censored. I am annoyed bigtime. They are making me rethink my loyalty.

Jeanne

Jeri, Julia: thank you! :)

Paula: :-DDDDD
Ay, thanks for the information. Jaime is a sweetheart, I can symphatize with you.

Thanks, blog-mom! That's a relief.

Paula, how do you know which Jaime Camil to follow on Twitter when there are around a dozen. I would like to log on to the right one. Thanks.

Also, I'm confused about all of the changes. Is CS moving to midnight?

Jazzee, that's a VERY good question because he has a lot of trouble with people impersonating him on-line. His account is http://twitter.com/jaimecamil. Now that you know which one to check, you can know it's the right one because it has the "Verified Account" emblem at the top of the right sidebar. In his post from 4/26 he refers to me as "Nancy" because that's my name IRL.

Ugh, I'm so confused! I've been so busy with the kids that I have not had time to watch anything. I set the tape CS wasn't on it, I thought I made a mistake, now I see that Univision went nuts. Well maybe I shall wait for Duena. I see that there is a trailer posted on youtube for it. I hope it comes to the 9 time slot. I miss you all and this board. I'm lurking and hope to be back soon! Hi Connie! Yay Paula on the Jaime tweet!

I share the dismay of those who are disappointed by the moving of CS to midnight. Univision seems determined to build up an audience and then change schedules at their whim. They moved Gancho after 150 episodes had aired (I watched almost all of them) and now this.

I also wonder if they care about what the viewing audience thinks.

I haven't watched Dinero but am sure as soon as I start, it will be yanked to yet another unwatchable time! :)

Thanks to all the recappers who are managing to stay with all the moves and inconvenience - we appreciate all of you!

Diana

Personally, I think that the schedule changes are just disrespectful to loyal viewers. No mainstream network (or no other mainstream network) does this kind of flip-flopping and wouldn't get away with it if they tried. What it tells me is that Univision doesn't value or respect its viewers. It tells me that Univision may be struggling.

The closed caption problems tell me the same thing. The president of Uni would find it very unsatisfactory if he had to rely on auditory input from NBC, CBS, ABC or the rest that was delayed by up to two minutes in coming. That's what deaf viewers of the live captioned telenovelas with less experienced captioners are getting.

This weekend, I hosted a national conference where we used court reporters for captioning. They were virtually on the nose with what the speakers said, minute by minute, for five days. I was very pleased. It was English, but the same process.

I may be compelled to write a letter of complaint to the FCC about the captions, but also to the president of Univision (who doesn't speak Spanish much) to express my dissatisfaction. I bought a DVR and extra Spanish channels on my cable in order to watch their stuff.

Jeanne

Thanks, Paula, I'm a big fan of Jaime too. He was my first (and only)telenovela love. The perfect man.

Jeanne: Give me that address, amiga and I will give them the sharp end of my pen as well.

On the way to you by email, amiga!

Jeanne
