¿Qué nos cuenta, Caray, Caray!?

Hola Carayites!

Last week on Caray, Caray!...

Changes are coming to the Univision lineup.  La Sombra del Pasado is in Ultimas Semanas.  The replacement show will be Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse, starring Livia Brito and Jose Ron.  Check out Sara's synopsis and my Help Wanted ad for further details.

Coverage continues for Amores con Trampa , Lo Imperdonable, Yo No Creo En Los Hombres , and La Vecina.

On Telemundo, you'll find recaps and discussions about Bajo el Mismo Cielo and other shows.

In general blog news...
We have been asked by our Blog Mom not to discuss politics, in an effort to keep things civil.  The original post is located here.  Essentially, if it's not part of the world of the show, it needs to be kept out of the discussion.

You may have noticed some cosmetic changes to the blog.  We have "Newer" and "Older" links at the bottom of the page for the main page, archive pages, and label searches.  Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.  The sidebar has been updated to reflect the current lineup of shows and team members.

We are working on the "feeds don't work in Chrome" problem and the recently revealed "Internet Explorer insists on bumping every post that gets edited to the top of the list" problem.  For now, an attempt at a new way to view the feeds has been implemented on the currently airing shows, Telemundo, and proximas.  You can check that out by clicking on the link under each of those titles, or by checking out my initial test.   I'll be slowly working my way backwards through the older shows and keeping you updated on the progress of that project.  Let's call it "Project Gimme Back My Feeds!"

So now it's your turn!  Got proximas news?  (Oh, I know you do!)  A shameless plug for a current show?  Community news?  Recommendations for shows, movies, music, or books that may appeal to your fellow telenovela fans?  Let's hear it!  (Remember to keep it spoiler-free and gossip-free.)

G'morning, Diva! Thank you for ALL this hard work! Man! It is really appreciated. And thanks for this feature which I will be checking out as I seek to expand my reading beyond work emails! One small request on the sidebar, something minor that's been bugging me. "Care and Feed of Recappers." Could we have an "ing" after "Feed"? Thanks, and see you around the blog!

Thanks for all your hard work Diva. There are many people world-wide who look for old recaps when these shows are shown in their countries, so it's wonderful that you're updating everything to make it absolutely workable and tech-friendly.

Kat- The whole Caray Caray community, and those to come, owe you a debt of gratitude for taking this project on. It will make it easier for us to access recap feeds from multiple devices, and make it easier for others coming to the site from other countries and looking for old recaps.

Thank you, Diva. This is going to make a world of difference.

Jarifa

Diva.,
From someone who watches older novelas, almost non stop on Hulu and more on YouTube, your hard work is really appreciated and will be a great asset to me because I love reading Viewerville coments. I even wish one could comment on the older novelas

Diva - you've put a lot of thought, time and labor into all the extras you are working to provide us, and I sincerely thank you for this.

Not a telenovela, but if this is "open topic" page,,, and I know a few were watching .... re:

Poldark
Looks like the season 1 has ended. That was fast.
Throughout the "season", many scenes were so brief that it felt like I was watching a butchered and chopped telenovela. Just sayin'...
They really cut back on the horse scenes. Those were my favs in the first couple of weeks. Ah, well, once the story was built, they had to, I guess.

Five more months until Downton Abbey. Final season. Ack.

Doris- From what I read online, there were bits cut here and there from the US broadcast of Poldark. Also, having watched the 1970s version on Netflix last year, I do know that much has been cut out and condensed in this version. It's a shame, because I prefer the actors, costumes, and cinematography in this version, and would like to spend as much time with the characters in this version as in the last version. I especially prefer this version of Demelza, and really most of the female characters, to the 1970s versions.

Vivi - Thank you! So it was not my imagination. I wondered how the 1970s version compares, as far as actors and interpretation. Many people loved that '70s version, but I never saw it. Cinematography has come a long way in the past forty years, too, so your comment does not surprise me.

Doris- Check out this tiny clip of the 1975 version. I love both versions of Ross. But 1970s Demelza comes off more as petulant child, while 2015 Demelza comes off more as headstrong young woman (which I prefer): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR6NUmuUXaU

La Diva, I just want you to know that I appreciate all the hard work that you're doing you and all the other recappers. I've been watching telenovelas on and off since 2004 and I really didn't know what the heck was being said because I don't know anything about any other languages except you know a little word here and there. but I would always look at the telenovas and I would watch them and then I could probably figure out the gist of the situation that was going on and I could pretty much tell who the good guys were and who the bad guys were, and it was just really fun to watch. but then I discovered Caray Caray and I gotta tell you I am so grateful to you guys for the work that you do, its just totally amazing. you guys ROCK. I want you to know this commenter really really really appreciates what y'all do THANK YOU THANK YOU THANKYOU, many THANKS. These are just good fastionef love stories with s little modern stuff thrown in. I wish the American soaps were like this but they've gone from bad to worse. thank you all for all you do.

Thank you, Lila, JudyB, Vivi, Jarifa, Anonymous at 1:31, doris, and Nina for all the feedback!

Lila, I will make that fix with the next round of updates, probably this weekend.

Anon at 1:31, the ability to comment on older episodes is still available, they just go into moderation to help us cut down on spam.

We have occasionally had people organize new discussions of older shows if they get aired again. Alborada and La Fea Mas Bella are two that come to mind where someone posted links to the original recaps and then discussed it all over again in the comments.

doris, yes, that's absolutely welcome here. I don't watch the show, but it obviously appeals to many Carayites, so I'm sure it must have some telenovela-like qualities to it :D

Vivi - Thank you for the video link. Wow, that scene wasn't even in the 2015 version and you're right, Demelza comes off as a bit of a brat, inspired by Liza Doolittle. That house is a lot nicer, too.

Diva, thank you for everything you do. Your hard work and efforts are greatly appreciated. This is so helpful.

You have such zeal and a zest for life.

Diana

Thank you, Diana!

Read on MasQueTelenovelas that the producer of El Color de La Pasion is developing a remake of the Spanish series Gran Hotel. Anyone up for a period drama with a heavy dose of mystery?
Plot summary of the Spanish version taken from TV Tropes(very general, no spoilers):
"The story begins in 1905, with the mysterious disappearance and presumed death of Cristina Olmedo (Paula Prendes), a maid at the Gran Hotel. Six months later, her brother Julio (Yon Gonzalez) arrives to investigate said disappearance and gets a job at the hotel, becoming friends with Andrés (Llorenç Gonzalez), the son of staff manager Ángela (Concha Velasco), as well as with Alicia (Amaia Salamanca), the daughter of the Gran Hotel's owners, the Alarcón family. Julio and Alicia fall in love, living a passionate romance that is impossible due to their class differences, while they investigate the web of death, lies and secrets kept within the Gran Hotel's walls."

Ooh, Rain! Period drama, mystery, ok the usual lovers divided by class BUT they're working together. That would be cool.
