Pasion – March 19, 2008 – Only the good get locked up!

My apologies for the delay! Lately I've running like a chicken with my head cut off.

Episode 69 (Excellent!) – Seriously though, so far Santi, Mario, Ric, and now Cami have landed in the slammer (granted, Ric & Mario have committed actual crimes, but not in SF – even Mario’s killing of Gonzo was in defense of others). Meanwhile, Jorge, Al, Lis, Grita, Whoresula, etc. are all still walking around free as birds – Just sayin’

Anywhoo, we begin our tale as Cami asks La Paisana what her name is. LP tells her she doesn't feel like telling her and then they start talking about why LP is going to SF, and the fact that Ric is Cami’s hubby and he’s locked up because of her.

Justo’s visiting Ric @ the pen telling him that if Lis asks, they can put Cami under house arrest, perhaps at his place. Ric doubts Lis will go for it because she hates Cami. Justo tells him Vasco went to tell her to stay put, in case the news of his arrest has already gotten to her. Ric assures Justo that as soon as Cami is safe, he’s gonna skip town and go get Lis her dough. Justo asks if he plans to escape and Ric says he doesn’t know, but he’s getting out.

LP and Chino’s entourage arrive SF, right by Santi’s foundry, and Cami says goodbye to LP. She asks Cami to tell Ric that if he needs any help, he can contact her and Chino. Cami thanks her and leaves. Chino asks what the chisme was and LP informs him that Ric’s locked up on non-pirate charges.

Back at the pen, the friendly guard (don’t know his name) brings Ric a journal and a quill. He asks Ric if he’s gonna write a letter and he answers that it’s for distraction. The guard asks him if he’s a lettered man (which is silly ‘cause any man who can write a letter is a lettered – a.k.a. educated – man). Just then, another guard brings the friendly one a rope and whispers something. He returns to Ric and informs him Don Eustaquio needs him. Ric asks why and the guard doesn’t know. He ties Ric’s hands and bring him over. Ric is escorted to Eustaquio’s office and is impactado to find Cami there. She runs to hug him but he’s not exactly happy. We move unto the new portion as Ric asks Cami what the frill she’s doing there. He told her to wait for Mario and leave! Don E tells his guards to untie the angry Ric. (You sure there? He looks a little hot under the collar and who knows what he’ll do?!). As Ric yells at Cami that she did made a mistake, Don E unwraps Ric’s sword and tells him that his wife did the correct thing and Ric yells back she didn’t. Don E informs Ric that he’s free and Ric says he doesn’t care. He would have preferred to stay in jail and Cami says she wouldn’t have. They keep arguing and Don E tells them he’ll leave them alone to talk. Cami already knows what the situation is. Ric is pissed and asks why Cami didn’t trust him. She says she does, but she must pay for what she did. Ric says she didn’t do anything. If anyone’s to blame it’s him for taking her to La Mariana and surrendering her to Bermejo. She says that might have been her destiny and he says, yeah right, I was an idiot. Cami tries to console him saying Don E told her about the possibilities. They have a passionate kiss.

Back at the foundry, Chino goes to the twins and asks where they can find lodging and where they can find Jorge. They tell him to go to “La Posada del Rey” (The King’s Inn) and that the SSF palace is the really big one right across the street from the inn.

Jim arrives at Cami’s door and gets no answer. She goes inside and finds nothing. She then goes outside and asks the boys if they’ve seen her. A light bulb turns on in her head and she wonders if Cami took off. They ask where and she says “Duh! To San Fer!” They start scrambling around looking for her. Vasco says he failed again and Jim reminds him that Cami fooled them all. Vasco calls out for horses to nobody in particular and the crew starts covering ground.

Al arrives at Don E’s office answering to his message. He asks what’s up and Don E tells him that Cami turned herself in. Al asks what they will do with Ric and Don E tells him they will set him free. Al asks if it can be prevented and is told that the law won’t allow it (even for Al) since they have nothing wrong to pin on him. Al says he does and Don E asks what, they can talk and work it out. Al asks what deal they made and Don E tells him that Ric promised to bring the rest of the money. Al doesn’t buy it, and is sure Ric will just take off and stiff them, but E tells him that Ric wouldn’t leave his wife in jail. Al isn’t convinced. Don E wants to know if Al has any proof since he keeps hinting that Ric is a bad man. Al then asks if Cami will be imprisoned.

At E’s office, Cami confirms she will go to the pen, but “E” told her that it wouldn’t be for long, only until Lis agrees to house arrest. Ric doesn’t think Lis will go for it and Cami asks why not? She will get all her money and she wouldn’t dare piss off Sofi who likes Cami so much. Ric goes back to his “you shouldn’t have come back” and she says she had no choice while he was in jail. He says he’s dealt with worse and she reminds him so has she. He reminds her that once Mario had dropped her off at La Iguana (they were currently staying near a bay, not too far from SF) he would have come back and they would have found a way to get Ric out. She says that would have involved killing and risking his life. He explains that there are other ways (bribery, etc) and that even Sofi could have helped. Cami covers her face and cries. He finally decides there is no point in rehashing, they need to move on. She says she can wait in jail even if Lis won’t agree to the provisional freedom (the house arrest thing). She asks how long he’ll take and he thinks 2 weeks should do it. Cami says 2 weeks is nothing and he says they will seem like hell (Awww!). He tells her he promised he wouldn’t let anything happen to her and she assures him he will keep that promise. He’s worried, but Cami says it was her choice. He says it was the wrong choice because he loves her and has seen his future around her. He says he won’t give up and she says neither will she. Don E walks in and asks if all is set. Ric says yes, but he’ll talk to Lis anyway about house arrest. Don E says he thinks she’ll agree, but reminds them that no matter what Cami will be a serf again. Ric says he knows and plans to buy her. Ric asks for permission to have her family visit Cami and it’s granted.

Back at the beach they can’t find Cami. They figure she went back to SF and decide to go back there. Jim packs and a handful are asked to wait for Mario. They get ready to pack Jim’s carriage.

A sniffling Cami is escorted to her cell with Ric by her side. She figures that this is the right time to tell him that Chino and LP are in SF in case he needs them (‘cause this sort of news is always best told when surrounded by guards in an enclosed place that could echo). She asks who they are and he says they’re friends. Nice guard tells them that she’ll be fine in her cell that has a “catre” (cot), a chair, and some blankets. Ric swears by the Virgin and all saints that he will get her out. She says she believes him and loves him. She asks when he’s going and he says he’s gonna talk to Lis, give the news to Cami’s family, and then take off. She gives him a blessing and the guard tells them this is where Ric has to go. Ric tells her it breaks his soul to leave her behind, and that he’ll get her out if he has to make a deal with the devil himself. She tells him to take care. The guard tells Cami not to worry. It’s obvious that Ric is a gentleman and the kind of man who gets what he plans. He offers to bring food or water but Cami says not now. He closes the door and she crumbles in tears. For what it’s worth, IMHO it’s not that Cami doesn’t trust Ric. It’s everyone else (Al and such) that she doesn’t trust. Although it wasn’t nice of her to ignore Ric’s wishes, AGAIN, it’s probably for the best, as Al would just keep trying to kill him.

Ric wastes no time and arrives outside Chez Al, grabs a guard and drags him into the house telling him to show him to way to Lis and Fran’s room. The guard says Al will kill him and Ric asks “what do you think I’m gonna do?” Manuela arrives and an apologetic Ric tells her he needs to speak with Lis. Mani sends her nana, who objects at first, to fetch Lis. Mani tells the guard he can go and if Al asks, he can blame it on her. She says she heard he was in jail and he tells her now it’s Cami. Lis and Fran come in and Lis starts feeling him up. She asks how he was released and he says Cami turned herself in. He says he has to go get the money he owes Lis. Lis tells him he owes her nothing and he reminds her that Cami’s debts are his. He asks her to ask for Cami to get house arrest. Mani interjects that it’s a great idea. Lis asks if so, what would be Cami’s punishment? Ric tells her for the thousandth time that Cami did nothing wrong (this would be a great time to inform Lis that the little chest of coins came from Cami!!!! Wonder if that’s in the ledger he gave the judge?...). He also reminds Lis that even after the money is paid, Cami will continue to be a serf. He says please, please, pretty please and Lis finally says yes. He asks when and she says once the judge says so. He then asks her to promise not to sell Cami to anyone until he gets back. She promises and he gives her a thank you hug.

Over at the Mancera house, Don E tells Sofi and Jorge that he’ll issue the ruling the day after tomorrow. Sofi asks why not tomorrow and he explains that there is paperwork and they still need a face-to-face interview between Lis and Cami so Cami can have a chance to defend herself. Once Cami is found guilty, she will a) have to pay back – Sofi says Ric will pay, and b) go back to being a serf since that’s what she was before the will and as Lis will become the heir, Cami will become Lis’ serf. Sofi says she’ll buy Cami and give her freedom and Jorge interjects that Ric will probably do that.

Back at Chez Al, Lis and Fran discuss how all’s going well. Fran asks if Lis will let Cami out of jail. Lis says yes. Fran asks if she’ll sell Cami to Ric when he comes back and Lis says she wouldn’t sell Cami for the crown’s treasure. She wants Cami to be her serf for the rest of her life. Big Surprise....

Ric visits Justo; and Paco runs up to Ric showing him the boat he just made with grandpa’s help. Justo asks Inés to take Vasco away and he whines his usual “why do people keep sending me away when they want to talk?” Ric tells Justo that Cami came back and is in jail. Justo starts to complain about Vasco, but Ric explains that Vasco tried to convince Cami but she ran away in the middle of the night. Inés runs back and asks what’s up? Justo tells her Cami’s in jail. Ric tells them that he had Lis promise to let her go under provisional release and that he hopes they’ll let her go to Justo’s. He now needs to go off and get the rest of the money and should be back in 2 weeks. Justo thanks Ric for not leaving his daughter high and dry and Ric says he never would. Inés asks if they can visit and he says he got permission from Don E so they could. Now he’s gotta go. Inés goes to prepare a basket of food.

Back at the palace, Sofi tells Ursu and Fortunata that Don E has to put Cami vs Lis in a cage match to the death...J/K just arbitration so Cami can argue her case. Sofi doubts Cami will win. Fortu asks what will happen and Sofi says they’ll have to pay the money back. Also, Cami will be a serf again. Fortu asks why and Sofi says it would take too long to explain (the audience is grateful as we’ve heard this many times already). Fortu asks for how long and Sofi says they can let her out under house arrest if Lis chooses to be benevolent. Ursu doubts that will happen and Fortu can’t imagine why Lis would want to keep hurting Cami once she gets her money. Sofi says Lis will have to take it up with Sofi if she keeps trying to hurt Cami. Ursu aks what Sofi can threaten Lis with, the silent treatment? She doubts Lis will care.

Mani arrives at the foundry looking once again for Ascanio. The twins tell her that he and Santi went to the fair to sell their lamps and they (the twins) don’t know when Santi and Ascanio will be back. They then discuss how Mani’s smitten and that it’s the luck of those that can read and write (unlike themselves who preferred to be donkeys, a.k.a. dunces). Ofi sees Mani walk by and asks what brings her around. Nana encourages Mani to tell Ofi the news. Mani tells Ofi that Cami’s in jail. At the kitchen, Mani explains to Ofi that Lis promised Ric she’d let Cami go under house arrest. An eavesdropping Rita asks what Lis is doing at Al’s. Mani tells them that Lis and Al are engaged. Rita looks annoyed and shocked. I’m not quite sure why Rita would care, but maybe it’s just part of her judgmental nonsense.

Ric meets LP and Chino at the inn. Chino says “I thought you were in jail!” Ric explains it’s because he wouldn’t tell them where Cami was. Now that she’s returned, she’s taken his place. LP offers to spring her out, but Ric is concerned with all the guards. He asks why they’re there and they tell him they’re here to see Jorge about the contraband. Ric says he has to run to raise some dough. Chino offers to give him the money but Ric says it’s a lot of money. He’s pretty sure he can raise it in 2 weeks though. He offers them his house in the meantime and he can take them. Chino says they have to see Jorge first, so he tells them to just ask around for the house of Ricardo Lopez de Carvajal. He will tell Esteban his porter to let them in. LP asks if Pablo’s there and Ric says no, but he’ll send him over. He and LP do their pirate arm in arm thing. He recommends that they don’t tell Jorge, or anyone, that they know him. Kind of moot since they’ll be asking for directions to his house and then staying there, but go figure. Chino wishes him luck, though Ric always has it. Ric says lately he hasn’t. He leaves and Chino remarks to LP that he’d never seen Ric so disconnected. LP comments that love is the poison of man, and woman. She asks Chino if he’s ever been in love and he says once. She asks if it went badly and he says yes, like everyone else, you too. She says, “don’t remind me.” They arrive outside the palace and Chino tells the guard to announce Mr. Yosihei. I think it's funny that, although he got all pissed early on with one pirate who called him "El Chino" when he's Japanese, he seems ok with his friends and business associates doing it.

Back at the palace, Al asks Jorge what the big deal is since he’s no longer interested in Cami (that one is news to me!). Jorge says it’s a matter of Al causing him problems. Guard walks in and tell Jorge an oriental and a woman want to see him. Al figures its Chino and tells guard to let them in.

The jail has magically been transformed into a woman’s prison (even though the setup is the same, maybe it’s another wing) and nice guard escorts Justo and Inés to Cami. We see a tearful reunion through the bars.

Over at the palace, Jorge greets Yosihei and marvels at how nicely LP cleans up. She remarks her dress was probably meant for a queen in France or Flanders or Spain. The important thing is it fits. He asks for her name, as he doesn’t want to keep calling her Paisana. She tells him her name is Maria Julia (probably made up) and Al wants to get down to business. They have some pleasantries.

Ric makes a pit stop at his house to get a horse and warn Esteban the porter that an Oriental man and an older woman will be arriving. They are to have the run of the house as they please.

At the palace Chino tells the gang that they already told Romeo Castillo he’s not the middleman anymore. Jorge asks if he agreed and Chino remarks he had no choice. Jorge regrets having sent Uriel and Mateo, and also shows concern he might talk. Chino tells him it’s been dealt with and that he wont speak. He’s more concerned about getting the documents so they can pass the goods as legit. Al eyes as LP (or should we call her MJ?) piles pastries on her plate and tells Chino the document still needs to be drafted. Chino is concerned with all the guards that might ask for papers and start checking the cargo. Jorge tells Al to get him the documents ASAP. Chino also asks Jorge to demilitarize the area where they will be distributing the merchandise. Jorge asks why and Chino tells him that they plan to cover the territories outside of Jorge’s domain themselves. Al is annoyed they don’t have exclusivity and Chino explains they can’t have it for all of New Spain!

Back at the pen, Inés tells Cami she brought her some needlepoint to keep her distracted (this was before the days that needles and scissors were considered weapons). Cami thanks her and Justo is sure that Lis will keep her word and that Ric will be home soon and all will be well. Inés insists that if Santi talks to Jorge something can be done. Cami doesn’t want him involved. Inés reminds her Santi cares for her but Cami declines. Justo says this can’t last very long. Either way, he will visit her every day. Inés says so will she. Group hug.

Vasco and Ric’s crew bump into Ric on the road. Ric tells them that Cami’s arrived and they let him go. Vasco assures him she escaped and Ric says he knows. Jim asks if Cami’s in jail and Ric says yes. He hopes Lis will keep her word and let her go under house arrest, then asks about Mario and they tell Ric he hasn’t arrived. He says he’ll go over to the bay to wait for him, and then head off the “La Coralina” (probably another island). He asks who’s left and they tell him el Güero, Samuel, and Miguel. He tells the crew to take Jim home and he’ll see them in 2 weeks. Vasco asks how Cami is and Ric shakes his head in disgust.

Back at the palace, Chino and LP/MJ leave and Jorge tells Al that Foreman is an “aborazado” (doesn’t share with other), Al wonders if it’s that Foreman doesn’t trust them. Jorge wonders if they can ditch him, but Al thinks it could be dangerous. He could send an anonymous letter that would place them under suspicion, etc. Jorge complains he doesn’t want to dance to Foreman’s tune. Al says he’ll talk to Chino and LP to find out what the scoop on that is. Jorge suggests splitting them up. He also wants Al to talk to Lis about letting Cami out of jail. He’s uncomfortable and fears the town may rise up against him. Al thinks he’s exaggerating. They did nothing when he went against Justo, much less now. Jorge says regardless, he wants Lis to grant Cami her freedom under a good deposit (not quite sure what that means, other than perhaps the right conditions?). Al is pissed.

Back at Chez Al, Fran puts some leaves on Lis’ forehead and tells her she has a headache because of the incident. Lis wonders how Ric will get the money and Fran figures he’ll kill some folks and take their dough. Al knocks on their door. Lis doesn’t want Fran to answer, but Fran knows there’s no option. He tells Lis he heard about the visit. Lis says Mani let him in. Al wants to know what they talked about and Lis tells him Ric wants her to let Cami out of jail. Al asks if she’ll do it and Lis says yes. He tells her he’ll see them for dinner. Meanwhile poor Mani’s finishing her prayers. She tells Nana that she doesn’t think what they’re doing to Cami and Ric is fair. She feels she dislikes Lis more everyday, and thinks Lis might be a hypocrite (not something that usually comes out of her mouth). Al storms in the room and starts hitting her. He asks her why she let Ric in, She says he had already come in and she couldn’t stop him. He says the next time he’ll kill her. Nana cries in horror as Al drags poor Mani through the halls into a storage room. Mani begs him not to take her there because she’s afraid of the dark. He tells her to shut up and throws her in an armoire that he locks. Mani beats at the door and begs for Al or her Nana to let her out. See what I mean about the good being locked up?

Cami’s clan gathers around Ofi’s kitchen and Ofi asks if they can see her. Justo says he doesn’t think visits are forbidden. Jim asks if she can go. Inés interjects that Lis told Ascanio that she’d see him and Jim turned into serfs. Jim calls her a damned bitter woman and asks if she can do that. Justo doesn’t know. Vasco tells Jim it’s probably best if she stays under wraps for a while. He apologizes again to his dad for not stopping Cami. Jim tells Justo it wasn’t Vasco’s fault and he tells her his problem is not about this, but about other things that Vasco knows. Rita comes in and tells them she left the baby sleeping in Inés’ bed. She asks Inés if that bothers her and she says no. She asks what they are talking about and Justo says Cami. He tells them that Lis promised Ric she would let her out and they’d soon have her around them (if he only knew...) Jim excuses herself, but it’s late. Vasco offers to walk her home since the mill is on the way. Jim asks the family to keep her posted about Cami, and that if she asks about her, to tell her that Jim loves her a lot, and that she should trust Ric. Vasco then walks over to Inés and tells her that she misses them. He asks her to meet him in the mill if she can and she nods yes. He and Jim leave. Ofi wishes them well. Rita tells Justo he should forgive Vasco, but he says he doesn’t want to talk about it.

Over at the fair, Santi and Ascanio walk into a restaurant. The host tells them the specials (including foot tostadas, eek!) and that they have a really good mezcal. They order some and ask if he knows a man named Molinar Pastor (I think he’s the same guy that Ric and Mario were asking about Jorge’s stolen goods) and the host tells them he’s not there at the moment, but he’s usually in. Santi tells Ascanio that Mani’s very pretty, and nothing like Ursu even though they are friends. Ascanio doesn’t know why she keeps looking for him, telling him about her things, etc. Santi asks if he doesn’t like her and Ascanio says, of course I like her! But what can a guy like him offer a girl like her? A flashlight and a skeleton key come to mind. Santi tells him he can offer her love, caring, respect, the most important things a man can offer a woman. Ascanio says yes, but one can’t live on that. Santi tells him “ye of little faith” maybe this business will make them rich. Ascanio’s probably also thinking of the possible serfdom that hangs over his head. Jim might actually be safe since Cami bought her with money (albeit not hers). They can add it to Cami’s tab, but I’m not entirely sure they can make Jim part of the payment. Ascanio on the other hand, was Tim’s serf. As such, he will become Lis’ property again.

Over at the beach house, Ric greets his posse and asks about Mario. They say he’s not there yet and ask if he knows about his wife. He says yes, and asks for one of his men to go straight to the bay and come get him the minute the Salamandra arrives so they can ship out. He goes to his room and broods. I wonder if he would have done better to keep more of his crew for this one.

Cami holds a diary in her cell and cries. We see women in the next cell scratching their heads (remember the lice the guards warned about?) and we then see Ric splashing water on his face and grabbing his sword. He’s worried.

Back at the restaurant, Don Molinar Pastor arrives with some buddies and requests a table. The host tells him they’re all taken, but two men were asking about him, so maybe he can share their table. Don MP introduces himself to Santi who introduces himself and Ascanio. Don MP introduces his buddies: Agustin Melchor and Ricardo Lopez de Carvajal. Swelling music plays as Santi mentions the coincidence. He knows another Ricardo LdC. The real LdC asks how they know him. Santi says SF and he replies it could be a coincidence, or it could be the darned pirate that attacked the ship he was on last year. They took their propety, the cargo, and even the documents. Santi asks for details and LdC tells how they were going to New Orleans when a pirate ship attacked them. It was a cruel encounter.

We get a little flashback sequence in which two ships shoot cannonballs at each other. We see the cargo ship fall apart. A bunch of pirates throw ropes and board the cargo ship. Sexy Mario starts fighting and Ric goes up to the captain and tells him to surrender or die. The captain prefers surrender and yells at his crew to drop their weapons ‘cause they’re surrendering. We forward to him giving Ric all the documents. He passes them to Mario and tells the captain that Florida’s not too far. With the current they should arrive in no time. The captain asks if he’s pardoning their lives and Ric looks at Mario and then replies with his trademark “cierto” (true, certain, etc). He tells his crew to load the survivors unto the lifeboats and give them some water and food. He asks about the cargo and then tells the captain to leave. A woman crosses herself and they begin boarding the lifeboats. One of the pirates holds unto LdC and tells Ric that they should hold on to them for ransom. Ric tells the crew there’s plenty of merchandise that they can split up amongst themselves. The pirate replies that ransoms bring a lot of money and Ric tells him that he owes his captain obedience, if he doesn’t like it, how can they fix it? The pirate says why not? Ric’s not the best swordfighter in the brotherhood. He draws his sword and Ric reluctantly also grabs his. He says he’s ready if he wants to try his luck. The pirate runs at him and Ric simply grabs him and slices his throat. He throws the pirate overboard and asks if anyone else has a problem. They all shake their heads and he tells them to tie the boat onto the Salamandra ‘cause they’re taking it. I wonder if this is the boat that became “the Camila.” We return to present time and Santi asks what the pirate looked like. LdC says he had fire in his eyes, tall, strong, with a Moorish appearance. Santi glares at Ascanio who looks down. He asks LdC if he could recognize him if he saw him again. LdC says one couldn’t forget a demon face like that. Santi looks pissed. Ascanio looks worried. I really hope Santi has a talk with Ascanio before he starts trying to make a court case.

Next up: Al yells at the judge that he wants the verdict ASAP! Al tells Lis that she has a face-to-face with Cami tomorrow. On a little boat, Ric tells Mario that Cami has to go free. Lis tells Cami (who’s obviously back to being a serf) that she also has to pay for the betrayal on her.

Juan Q -Wed 3/19/08- Tears, Jeers, and some recuperating of past years

We just heard the doc telling Juan Pau’s ok, but baby didn’t make it. Juan tells the doc that this can’t happen, Pau is in good health, and this meant so much to her. Doc is sorry, but this can actually happen in 30% of pregnancies in the first trimester. She still is resting, so when she wakes, we’ll tell her. He says this is going to cut his palomita to pieces (puñalada).

Yadi asks Juanito what he’s doing, he says he’s protecting himself and the baby from the thunderstorm that’s coming. Yadi says none coming so don’t use my linens to play with. He swears Dona Nidia said one was coming, into the house even. Yadi says that’s because she’s going to make it happen. Juanito is amazed that Nid can make thunderstorms. Yadi confirms and what a big size too.

Juan struggles with whether he should call CL, he says maybe she doesn’t want him to like last time when she tried to kill herself, but then he thinks that this is a different situation, both father and mother have the right to know about this. But then CL was so upset when he saw them together earlier that he might just come here and do nothing more than annoy (poner el gorro) on his Palomita, and what if she ends up sick. He decides instead he should call Juanito.

Yadi answers the phone. Juan asks what’s up and Juanito tells Juan things are under control now, there was a terrible storm in the house. Yadi tells him to make sure he says it’s a game or Juan’ll have an attack. Juan says he’s going to be late, and Juanito can tell that he is sad about something. He says he’s with Pau and then gets all misty eyed and tells Juanito he’s the best thing that ever happened to him. He tells Juanito that here the sky is falling so he just wants him to know that he loves him. He cuts it short to talk to the doc who tells him Pau is awaking.

Nid is wondering why Pau is taking so long. Anga says right now she’s doing something more important and Nid wants to know how he knows that. He tells Nid he did her a favor and arranged a meeting between Pau and Juan. Ever since he’s got to know her, he’s seen how unhappy she is with that good for nothing CL and that she doesn’t love him, so he thought if he could help he would, so they wouldn’t end up like the two of them. He couldn’t change what happened between him and Nid, but maybe for those two who are still young. She wonders if he’s going to complain about her more he says nope on the contrary, Anga is proud of Nid. She is surprised and says she’s going to start thinking that he’s madly in love (chocheando-this can also mean senile, so both meanings actually could apply). He says it’s not that, rather she is maturing and confronting her errors, so he’s very proud, oh and it’s sexy.

CL calls Consuelo who tells him she isn’t home nor has she called, he gets snippy with her and tells her to call if she hears anything.

Pau wakes up and asks the nurse what’s up with the spawn. Nurse pushes it off on the doc who will inform her. She wanders out in total avoidance and allows Juan to come in who tells Pau that sometimes God needs little angels in heaven. Of course Pau knows what that means and she cries on his shoulder. Very sad and scary. I just can’t help but think of the irony, that of course in telenovela land we are supposed to kind of want this to happen so she could leave CL in good conscience. Kind of perverse to think of this as a positive, but I sort of expected it. Oh well.

Anga tells Nid she’s as sexy as she was when she was 16. In fact, her eyes shine as bright. Nid suddenly has to go because she has a lot of things to do and well Pau isn’t going to show up. Anga offers her the plate of Gods, and some human tortas. She isn’t sure about that, she thought maybe they’d just let down their hair, he says they need the tortas to recharge their engines for peace negotiations. So that's what folks of that generation call it.

Pau blames herself for working too hard and not eating well, or she should have been in a better mood. Juan very sweetly tells her not to blame herself, this happens to many women, and this is just life and God’s way. He reminds her how much she was willing to do for this child, giving up many things to have this child. She says this child was her reason for living and she would have wanted to tell him how much he was wanted over and over again. Juan reminds her that this is not necessary to tell face to face, that the love of a mother to her baby is automatically felt, and that connected with the baby and will be with him throughout the universe and that God has his reasons for these things. So very sweet.

Cl sucks it up and calls Anga for news about Pau, he coldly says she’s not around but should he leave her a message. Cl says no thanks.

Ivy goes in to see if she can do anything for Fer. She fakes she doesn’t know. He yells at her and tells her leave him alone, she obviously knows, he’s not married, he’s had no honeymoon, and she’s probably thrilled to see him miserable, so get out now. She tries to say she’s not, and he doesn’t buy it and leaves instead.

Pau calls CL. He mocks that she finally shows signs of life and wonders where the hell she is. He yells at her incessantly for planning this tryst with Juan and how could she do this to him, this is the worst and he regrets that she’s the woman he let carry his child, ouch. That is soooooo low. Juan listens to her getting more and more upset. She finally hangs up with out telling CL the reason for her call.

Marely confronts Yadi about the inheritance and her secret ways. Yadi says she wasn’t a part of it and she is nobody to tell of her mother’s secrets. Yadi accuses Mar of exacting revenge by giving over the money to her half sister and putting her mom in jail. Mar says that’s not what she’s doing, but her Mom has to answer for this.

CL asks Ivy what he’s done wrong. She’s like huh? and asks in your life in general or about a specific error in mind. He thinks that all of his women ended up playing him. She says maybe the idea that your women are YOUR women is the problem. You think? She tells him he shouldn’t act like they are his property. She says that he doesn’t need consolation, instead advice, so she’ll give him two. Don’t try to understand the un-understandable and stop drinking by yourself. He thinks he should just go off somewhere, she says this time that trick won’t work. She accuses him of thinking only of himself. She thinks he should start anew, but somewhere else.

Juan shows up and gets a greeting of surprise from Ivy who wonders how he is, that he looks agitated, and when he says he’s looking for CL, she warns him that he’s in rare form partly because of Juan. Juan doesn’t need her to announce him, he goes in without being announced. CL is impactado to see him too and asks if he’s there to rub in his face that he took the business or the wife. Juan says neither, this has to do with you two, and Pau lost the baby.

Back at the hospital, the nurse tells Pau that her “husband” left for a little while and that he went to tell someone personally what happened. Pau is impactada and figures he went to find CL.

CL says this is all Juan's fault, but Juan says not true, he couldn’t do anything that would hurt Pau. Cl wonders why he had to come back, you damn goat sucker. (Maldito Chupacabras -did you see it?). Juan continues to hold the high ground and shames CL for blaming everyone else for his problems and not running to be by his wife's side when she is so destroyed - if he loves her so much. Next they calmly walk out of the office and Ivy rushes up and asks to go down with them. Cl tells her she isn’t going anywhere. He calls her a gossip and calls her on it that she stayed just to find out what happened to tell everyone tomorrow. He calls her a snake, (Vibora) and lets the elevator shut in her face.

Pastor and Fer are having coffee. Rughead wants to know why Fer is so sad and they canceled the wedding. Fer doesn’t want to talk about his problems. Pastor guilt trips him that he has no confidence in him. Fer finally just says that Mar just doesn’t care for him enough to forgive his past errors. Pastor wants to know what they are. Fer stays composed and decides that he’s tired so he better just go. Thank heavens he doesn’t spill the beans to Pastor. Surely he’s spying for Ivy, Viboro.

Mar and Yadi are worrying about their Mom now as it’s getting late. Marely calls the market and Mama answers - they are worried about her and think she should come home because of the hour. Nid says nope, Pau hasn’t been in touch, but she’s decided to be honest so, she’s going to wait all night if she has to, to tell Pau what’s up. Just then Anga begins kissing her shoulder, and she reaffirms that she’s not going anywhere just now. They make out.

Mar finds out from Juanito that Juan is with Pau and that he’s very sad and will be home late. Juan shows up at the hospital with CL who is annoyed that Juan was called the husband. Juan and he again exchange words, that Cl is arrogant, and Juan may not be educated but he has valor, something CL could never understand. Cl walks away after calling him naco and an imbecile. Even the nurse thinks he’s a jerk. Juan tells himself each day he really thinks more that Pau doesn’t deserve that idiot.

Mar and Yadi say goodnight to Juanito and speculate what Pau and Juan are doing, Yadi thinking they are having a great time, and Mar thinking Juan is a gentleman and Pau is pregnant so no way are they getting it on. Yikes, that would be pretty classless since you put it that way.

Back at the hospital, just when you think CL will finally console his wife, what does he do? Blames her for killing his child. She did it on purpose and she must be satisfied now. Ugh, how awful. He yells accusation, after accusation, after accusation at full volume at her and she begs him to leave that this is enough, he is upset like her and doesn’t even know what he is saying. Yes, he does, sorry Pau, but he is a first class A-hole and I certainly wouldn’t even give him the benefit of the doubt here, but that’s just me, I guess. He mocks her saying she was sooo confused but clearly those were lies, and that he can’t believe Juan would be worth all this, and he’s not going to just leave. Finally, I guess Juan hears her screaming and he rushes in and ushers CL out.

Anga tells Nid how long he’s dreamed of having her in his arms again and she says the dream will come true, but he says he doesn’t just want her in his bed, he wants her tonight and every night for the rest of their lives. Awww....

Moni is on the phone with Gustavo. Laura tries to convince Mon to go to Miami, it’s her future. She fights it and doesn’t know if she should go. Wah wah, ok, I’ve had enough of this, just stop it already, this guy is hot, nice, lives in the US in Miami for gosh sakes, she’s known him for years, and he clearly has the means to support himself and her very well. This is a no-brainer except in messed up Querendon novelaland!!! Oh well.

Outside, CL is yelling he wants Juan dead, and that oh sure, now that his wife hates him and killed his child, the path is clear for Juan to waltz on in. Juan tells him he’s not that kind of guy, and CL should be crying for his dead child and supporting his wife instead. Farell says no one tells him what to do and begins insulting Juan. Juan tells him not to go there, but he does anyway, and they end up scrapping despite the nurse's pleas. We end with Juan holding CL smashed up against the wall.

Al Diablo Con Los Guapos #43, Wednesday 3-19: No weddings, no funerals

Woo hoo! Looks like I get an action-filled night tonight. Grab your tequila and hold on tight.

So, Gloria and Rocky are asphyxiating, both for different reasons. The rest of the staff, plus Valeria are out in the hallway as Mili tries to claim they burned something to get rid of mosquitoes and Karla tries to say "oh, no you di'int!" Rocky comes out of the room, carrying a broadly grinning Gloria ("Oh, Gloria, I think they've got your number…"). Horacio kisses Rocky for being a hero and then takes Gloria so that Valeria, Mili, Lina, and ALMOST Braulio can also give him kisses (on the cheek, of course…his lips belong to another). Karla finally gets to tell Braulio that the other girls were burning copal and incense. Braulio asks them to follow him and all exit stage right (or is it stage left, I never can remember). Horacio tells Valeria to go downstairs and give her parents the update that Rocky is a hero.

Downstairs, Constancio complains about the constant scandals and Luciana blames it on him not getting rid of inept staff. Braulio marches Lina, Gloria, and Mili in (literally, marching) and announces they're the cause of the trouble. Constancio is upset about the conflicting stories--were they burning copal, "love incense," or mosquito repellant? Mili says they were burning love incense for mosquitoes--the mosquitoes smell it, fall in love, and go out to find mates, thus forgetting to bite anyone along the way. Either that was really funny or I'm just really tired by now. Luciana blames it on Braulio for not controlling Mili, specifically. Mili insists it's all the fault of the Three Musketeerettes and Braulio wasn't even there. Valeria swans in and dramatically announces to Daddy that they should all chill, Morgan (and she's so proud I'm surprised she didn't say "my Morgan") fixed the problem and he's a hero. The Musketeerettes giggle.

Andrea comes to visit Alejandro, who was in the shower and didn't hear all the fuss going on. Andrea says all the shouting freaked her out and she's afraid to sleep alone. She says she's sorry she missed the dinner, but she couldn't very well come down with all the scratches and rolls up one sleeve to show the rather nasty scratches there (bitch crazy!). From this she segues into "Alejandro, what's going to happen to us?" Nice non sequitur, there, ma'am. Alejandro doesn't take the bait, so she's got to lay on a little more guilt with "I still love you despite everything and I'm so sorry I didn't make you a father." Ugh. He should be doing such a happy dance right now and should get her the hell out of that house and never so much as breathe the same air as her again or she'll somehow claim his sperm walked across the room to get her pregnant again.

Karla's highly pissed off to hear that the Musketeerettes didn't get fired. Mili claims the bosses actually apologized…for making them room with a cockroach. Jajajajaja.

The next morning, Gloria sits out near the driveway moping and holding a red rose. Rocky wants to know what's up and when she says there's something she wants and she doesn't know if she'll get it, Rocky (without knowing what it is) tells her she will. He's being very sweet and Gloria stands up and kisses him, which he doesn't resist. Valeria sees and looks pretty pissed off about it. Then he ruins the moment by saying that Valeria, "the love of [his] life" is waiting for him and he's got to go. Valeria shoos him away to the car and then goes to warn Gloria off saying that Morgan is "[hers], [her] chauffer, [her] property!" Oh, but we all know what that's about, Srta. Valeria CELOSA!

Alejandro comes up to Mili in the kitchen as she's fixing Regina's breakfast and tells her they need to talk, that he can forgive her, but they need to talk about it. Oh, it's way too late for that, dude, she gave you a chance already. Alejandro wants to know what's up with her and Mili replies that the Love, it is dead. Mhm, dead like Elvis. We'll be seeing it often enough to incite rumors. Oh, ok, but for now we'll pretend she means it. "I feel nothing for you!" Alejandro responds, predictably, by trying to kiss her and prove it's not true. And, no, that does not go over well at all. Mili claims to hate Alejandro and Alejandro claims to love Mili…and they're both lying, as far as I'm concerned. Mili eventually leaves, calling Alejandro an inflatable doll as a parting shot. Well, he is fairly easily manipulated.

A time passing montage. Mili and Hugo at the movies running into Alejandro and Andrea. Mili dumps her popcorn on Andrea (waste!). Valeria and Luciana pick wedding decorations and taste cake. Sergio drives down the road, being tailed by Bobby, who gets a flat tire. Regina and Braulio take Mili to a museum. Bobby and Rocky hate on Sergio some more and look downcast when Valeria hangs on Sergio's arm. Mili walks through the living room to see Andrea and Alejandro lying on the couch with Alejandro asleep and Andrea smirking. Bobby follows Sergio again and sees him go into a house. Mili and Hugo stargaze while Alejandro watches and looks stricken. We get the "One Month Later" screen.

The bunker of babes wake up and talk about letting Mili sleep in since she was out so late (Karla, of course, complains). Today is Valeria's wedding. Lina complains that Karla's acting like she's the bride. Gloria is thrilled about the wedding--Mili jokes that it's because Rocky will finally be free of Valeria. Lina sighs that now she can have Bobby. Gloria says she's already figured out that she'll never have Rocky, but she feels bad for him, as he must be feeling sad.

Braulio tells Karla to clean the house cleaner than ever. She complains about the others and Braulio says he'll go get them, but she needs to get to work. Valeria comes downstairs all panicky looking for Rocky. He's supposed to be there in his sharpest duds to drive her and she won't accept Braulio as a reasonable facsimile thereof. She runs back upstairs complaining the whole way. Damian now comes in in a black suit, black tie, and white shirt (hello, Mr. undertaker) also complaining--about all the wedding fuss, the church, the invitations, etc. And Valeria, apparently, was the one who demanded that Damian dress in a black suit and white shirt, which Damian does not agree with (nor do I…oh, ugh, I agreed with Damian about something). Braulio checks out Damian's ass as he walks away. No, seriously, he does. Valeria comes running downstairs AGAIN asking for Morgan, who still isn't there. She's in a robe, not dressed, which Luciana (also enrobed) points out as she comes out to the second-floor balcony to tell Valeria she needs to get upstairs and get dressed. Luciana asks about some decorations that aren't there yet and tells Braulio she needs him to have everything ready for the reception before they get back. Luciana complains to Constancio, who is on his way downstairs, that Valeria is insupportable. Constancio says it's because she's never been married before. Luciana says "Well, I'd never been married before either and I wasn't like this!" Oh, Luciana, your wit slays me. Hell, even I was like that before my wedding, I'm sure. Constancio reminds her that he was even forced to rehearse his "happy face," which he executed perfectly. Luciana thinks this isn't a nice thing to remind her about and Constancio replies, "Juliet, Romeo died of poisoning a looong time ago." Alejandro is also in undertaker wear. Luciana complains about him going out, but he says that just because Valeria's getting married doesn't mean the world stops. Luciana starts to complain about "men" so Constancio starts to complain about "women" until Luciana reminds him he has a daughter. Constancio amends it to "except for my daughter and my mother" and exits. Valeria comes running out AGAIN, looking for Rocky, who is STILL not there.

Bobby is driving Rocky, probably to see Sergio's wife and child. Rocky appears not to know where he's going, as he's complaining about needing to be there to throw himself out a window after Valeria walks down the aisle. They fight over whose "chiquita" or whose "Vale" she is.

The lady in question is done getting dressed and veiled. She worries to mommy about whether she looks pretty. Luciana says she envies Valeria her honeymoon. Valeria says Luciana and Constancio can go on a trip when he takes some vacation time…aka never, says Luciana. There's a knock on the door. Constancio comes in and does a good job of admiring Valeria. He ignores Luciana as she says she's going to dress. They continue having their father-daughter moment. Constancio tries to calm her down by saying all weddings are alike and this one will go fine like all the others. He jokes that she's afraid Sergio will run away when the priest starts asking him questions. Valeria laughs. He seriously asks her to tell him what she's afraid of--that something won't work out, that she won't be happy…He tells her, as God's right hand, swears, actually, that she will be the happiest woman alive. *sigh* It's not the fall that kills you, its hitting the ground.

Bobby and Rocky make it to Sergio's house. When the woman who answers the door holding the baby says she's Sergio Cruz' wife, Rocky and Bobby are impactados.

Luciana is being driven to the church by Damian. The wedding planner says she'll go too and wait there for Valeria. Rocky finally shows up and is chewed out by Braulio. He says he's got to talk to Valeria, but Braulio shoos him off. Constancio comes in asking where Valeria is. I swear, it was morning a second ago and she was all dressed and ready to go, now it's night and she's still up there? What, was she getting some last-minute Botox or something? Rocky sneaks back in and is waiting for Bobby to show up with Sergio's wife.

Peralta congratulates Sergio and they joke about not letting it out that he's not single. Sergio says he's finally going to get the life he deserves. Well, yeah, but not the way he means it. Peralta jokes that Sergio earned it by the sweat on someone else's brow.

The Musketeerettes make their grand entrance into the kitchen, wearing their finest rodeo duds in order to go to the wedding. Horacio questions their fashion sense, as do I.

Braulio finds Rocky still in the house and yells at him some more. Constancio comes in looking for Valeria again. Rocky sneaks back in again, this time in time to see Valeria coming down the stairs in her wedding dress. He tells her she looks like an angel. And they can't leave until Bobby gets there. Valeria rolls her eyes at him trying to keep her from getting married. Rocky's really nervous about Bobby not being there yet. He spins some tale about visiting a psychic and giving her a lock of Valeria's hair and the psychic saying that Valeria will suffer with "that man" and shouldn't marry him…and also that Rocky needs to save Valeria. Bobby finally runs in, bringing Sergio's wife and baby with him. Mrs. Cruz introduces herself and their son.

Sergio's at the church worrying about how late Valeria is. Luciana says all she needed was her shoes…well, dear, did anyone ever teach her how to tie them? Sergio asks if he can call her "mom." Peralta comes in and announces the arrival of the bride. Sergio takes him place in the church. Everyone stands up as Valeria walks in holding…Sergio's baby! Luciana's confused. Valeria announces the wedding's off, but we're having a baptism instead. Alejandro punches out Sergio. Valeria tells him for once, to let her deal with things. Poor girl. Maybe I can consider this enough comeuppance for her, we'll see. Valeria tells Padre Manuel that they're baptizing this kid and she's the godmother, but they need a godfather. Rocky comes running up and says he'll be the godfather. Valeria gives him a sweet smile with glycerin tears of pure dolor running down her face and thanks him. If she'd called him Rocky instead of Morgan I might have lost it there. Commercials. Padre Manuel conducts the baptism and Valeria hands the baby back to Mrs. Cruz. The two women seem to have hit it off. Valeria tells her to call so she can see her godson every once in a while. Boy, that kid's going to have a story to tell. Sergio tries to apologize, but Valeria tells him to shut it. Valeria's even angrier at him for what he did to his son that what he did to her. Oh. I really think our little girl's growing up. The Musketeerettes come up to console Valeria. Mili says if she doesn't want to cry, then come with them. Aaaand, they're off! Rocky exits with Bim and Bo. Bobby and Alejandro don't know where anyone's going, but they're following. Leaving Luciana and Regina to kind of stare at each other in bewilderment.

Constancio is pacing the living room. The rest of the adult cast comes home and is surprised to find him there. Constancio says Valeria forbid him from going to the "wedding" or going after Sergio. Regina says she's so proud of Valeria for baptizing the kid and being his godmother.

At the rodeo, Valeria (still in her wedding dress) dances with Rocky. Alejandro and Bobby sit and watch the girls dance.

Braulio fills Socorro and Horacio in on the evening's events. Looks like Braulio's stress eating.

More dancing at the rodeo. Gloria's trying to convince Mili to stay--she can't stand that Alejandro won't quit looking at her. Alejandro comes over and tells Gloria he'll take Mili home. Dude, that kind of defeats the purpose. Mili insists she'll go alone. Gloria advises him not to go after her.

Constancio, Regina, and Padre Manuel discuss getting all the leftover reception food to the homeless ("Even the caviar?" asks Constancio). Regina goes upstairs. Constancio wants Padre Manuel to fill him in on everything that happened.

Braulio comes looking for Luciana (who's hitting the bottle). Luciana says she needs revenge…Sergio must be destroyed! Braulio tells her Constancio is downstairs with the Padre.

Padre Manuel talks about how Mili was consoling Valeria. Constancio marvels that, well, they are sisters. Yep, says Padre Manuel, they're sisters. Don't you think it's time to tell Mili you're her father? We don't know exactly how much of that conversation Luciana heard, but she's pissed off. Mili comes into the hallway and asks what's up. Luciana slaps her for it. Commercials. Mili is screaming at Luciana, giving her what for. This brings Padre Manuel and Constancio running. Mili says Luciana hit her and she's crazy. Luciana says she did. Constancio wants to know why. Luciana says "you know exactly why" but then says it's because she can't stand the sight of Mili. She runs off. Constancio wants to know why Mili's not with Valeria anymore. Mili explains (rather hysterically) that Valeria's at the rodeo and she's got her friends, AND Alejandro, AND Bobby, AND Mili's friends, etc. there, so it's not like she's alone. She says she came home because Alejandro wouldn't leave her alone. She leaves and Constancio complains to PM about needing patience.

Luciana talks to herself about how now she knows why he wouldn't fire her. Constancio comes in and complains about her drinking again and about her hitting Mili. Luciana says it's because she was a little nervous. Constancio says he wants Luciana to apologize to her. She refuses, of course. There are some nasty words about Luciana being or not being a carpet. Constancio says "watch how I can step all over you." He slaps Luciana across the face and says "sorry, I was a little nervous."

Back at the rodeo, the dancing continues.

Constancio has dragged Luciana into the dorm room to force her to ask forgiveness. Mili looks scared as Constancio screams at Luciana to say it louder. Luciana finally says it loud enough and leaves. Mili's like "Qué the hell was that?" Constancio replies, "She hit you and she came to apologize. I think with all the wedding stuff she's a little nervous." Then he leaves. Mili's still freaked out.

The next day, Constancio consoles Valeria. More mushy father-daughter stuff. Constancio says Sergio's getting fired from working with him. Constancio says the good thing is Valeria gets to stay at home and be spoiled some more. He says "Tell me like when you were little: Who's daddy's girlfriend" and Valeria replies "me". No, really, it was sweet, not icky.

Peralta drives Sergio out into the middle of nowhere to "arrange" things. He tells Sergio there's a message from Constancio. Two heavies come up. Peralta tells him to go home to his wife and never come back. The two heavies beat Sergio up, just as a taste of what happens if he doesn't do as he's told. Peralta laughs and then snaps a picture of Sergio on his cell phone to send to Constancio.

Constancio gets it while he's with Valeria and tells her it's nothing, just a present from a friend.

Luciana drinks alone and talks to herself about how much she hates Mili. Now, though, she wants her close to destroy Mili herself.

Socorro comes home from the market with groceries and a new boy toy. Now let's see whose boy toy he ends up being. Braulio admires him and says Socorro should get his number and always call him with the list of groceries to deliver. He hints that this might turn into a regular job. The new guy, Carlos, or Chamuco, is thrilled. Socorro asks him to finish unloading and then put the groceries away too--"full service." Mhm. Lina comes in and drools over him. He tells Lina she can call him Carlos, Chamuco, or anything else she wants, except "baby." Mhm.

Luciana visits the convent, much to the disgust of Sor Cachete.

Valeria, Hugo, and Alejandro process the night before. Mili comes up with coffee, but only Alejandro wants some. She pours, then leaves. Hugo sighs over her and says they've been together almost a month. Valeria says she hopes he's not serious about her. Hugo announces his intention to marry her. Alejandro tells him to go to hell and leaves. Valeria wonders what's up that everybody likes that girl.

Luciana asks Padre Manuel about Milagros. She fakes that she takes such pity on her, sees her as unsupported. Padre Manuel calls BS on it. Luciana says she's sorry about slapping her and has asked forgiveness. And that's why she wants to help her now. He's still a little guarded after she asks about Mili's mom. He says he got there when she was 5 and he's got stuff to do. He asks Sor Cachete to escort Luciana out. Luciana tells Sor Cachete she's worried about Mili. Sor Cachete doesn't have as good a BS meter as Padre Manuel and starts talking about Mili's mom. Luciana starts to say something, but my DVR cut off right then. I'm sure Luciana BS's some more.

I believe tomorrow Mili finds out about the fake baby scam and Andrea being BSC (well, not that she didn't know already).

La Traición, Wed, 3-19 - Hugo takes a trip; Guillermo takes up the violin; Hercu-less takes a hike and Soledad takes 4 months of pregnancy

There's always that difficult time in a novela while we wait for the heroine to get through a pregnancy. We moved forward four months tonight and there are three to go.

Hugo is successful in avoiding coming into contact with Dr. Max. It turns out that Hugo can perform the Vulcan nerve pinch. He probably learned that in the Orient as well. Dr. Max is still convinced that Hugo is alive, though.

Beatriz gets left at the hospital with Dr. Pablo. He tells her that she must learn to live without Hugo. She tells the doctor Sebastian's true identity, though and the good doctor is puzzled since he heard that Hugo de Medina was rich and is dead.

It turns out that spirits who have returned from the dead don't necessarily have good memories. Jeremias leads Enrico up and down hills in search of the Orchid Vivantis. Enrico finally presents it to Soledad four months later with instructions to guard it with her life since she will find out later why it is so important.

Ursula knocks out Hercu-less to save Lucas. Rebeca is so annoyed with Hercu-less that she throws him out. Meanwhile, Rebeca is preparing for her spectacular. Guillermo Burke wants to go straight and settle down but Helena doesn't agree. A call for musicians for Rebeca's performance gives Guillermo a chance to dust off an old skill as a violinist and he gets the job as first violin in the orchestra! Meanwhile, Helena does not want to lose their cushy home and so she does almost nothing to notify people that it's for sale.

Lucas gives Soledad a diary to keep her occupied while she is stuck at home during her pregnancy. She writes down what Ursula tells her about what is going on in town which is how we know that Arturo is courting Eloisa and has ceased persecuting the Obregons. Soledad dreams about Hugo but he is sad in her dreams and she can't remember or draw Hugo's smile. Antonia says nasty things to Soledad about her and her baby.

Meanwhile Hugo, Boris & Marina go on a long trip to find Dr. von Sirac or Bonchirac or whatever. He turns out to be an old guy and definitely is not Ismael de la Rosa. He tells Hugo that he has discovered that a medicine can be made that lessens the effect of cataleptic attacks and this medicine is made from a rare orchid called the Orchid Vivantis! What a coincidence.

Tomorrow, Antonia destroys the miracle Orchid Vivantis - uh oh!! So much for Soledad guarding it with her life. It looks like it's back to the hills for Enrico.

La Traicion, Tue., Mar 18 - Soledad saves Hugo, Enrico looks for a flower

We open with Hugo in the river and Soledad troubled by a nightmare caused by their psychic connection. Hugo manages to get to the riverbank but he has a catalepsy attack. When Hugo didn't return, the doctor notified the police and they are all searching for Hugo. They find him, apparently dead, on the riverbank. The doctor tries heart massage to no avail and eventually he decides Hugo is dead and he orders that Hugo's body be brought to his laboratory in town. They leave to get help moving Hugo's body.

Meanwhile, Hugo has determined that the only thing that can help him is Soledad. He reaches out to her and asks for her help. She is beside him psychically and her kiss brings Hugo around just as the doctor and the police return. The doctor is surprised but doesn't appear to suspect the nature of Hugo's illness.

Back in Soledad's bedroom, Ursula is anxiously monitoring Soledad's nightmare, which, from what she is saying, obviously involves Hugo. That witch Antonia barges in and wants to wake Soledad up. Fortunately, Ursula holds her off until Soledad has helped Hugo. The witch is determined to make Soledad forget Hugo. Dr. Max comes to see Soledad and it appears he is going to be the doctor for her pregnancy. The purpose of this visit is made clear when Dr. Max overhears Soledad tell Ursula to bring food to Los Burque. Now, he knows where they are.

Los Burque run in terror from the resurrection of Jeremias but later spend the night in the master bedroom of the Hacienda where they are discovered by Boris and Marina. Boris wants to sell the hacienda and he needs Los Burques to put up for sale signs and show the place so he doesn't throw them out. Dr. Max is hiding in the bushes outside the Hacienda and overhears Boris says that it is time for him and Marina to return their 'patron'. He now knows that Hugo is alive and is determined to find him.

Jeremias tells Enrico that the first step of his mission to help Soledad and her baby is to kill Antonia. Oh sorry, that would be my idea of helping Soledad. Jeremias tells Enrico to find a beautiful orchid in the forest.

Presumably to raise money, Rebeca proposes putting on a show at the local taverna. It turns out that Jeremias took her out of a whorehouse. For some reason, this project involves Lucas. Rebeca putting the moves on Lucas is witnessed by Hercu-less and puts him in a jealous rage. He gets drunk and attacks Lucas.

Back at the river, Hugo and the police find the cabin where Fabio is holding Beatriz. As one would expect, Beatriz was furious that Fabio messed up her plan to marry Hugo. She makes it clear that she considers him a low-life loser. The police attack the cabin while Hugo somehow manages to sneak inside the cabin and get the drop on Fabio. Hugo does a fancy reholstering of his gun and heaves Fabio out the window of the cabin into a hail of bullets. Beatriz swoons away, probably for effect.

Back in the hospital, Beatriz wants Hugo to fulfill his promise to marry her as soon as possible. The doctor takes Hugo aside and tells him that Beatriz' whole 'about to die' thing is a lie and that she bribed the nurse. Hugo looks like a giant weight has been lifted off him and he leaves the hospital.

Finally Boris and Marina show up. They give Hugo an edited version of what they were up to - leaving out receiving the Hacienda from Soledad and consummating their relationship. Hugo gives them an edited version of what he has been up to. When Hugo wants to talk about his illness, Boris sends Marina out. Hugo tells Boris to find a doctor who had tried to help his father, a Dr. von Sirac. Hugo says that he can't be dependent for his health on the love of a woman who betrayed him. And with this profoundly illogical conclusion, Dr. Max draw his sword outside Hugo's room (against 2 guys with guns - who do you think will prevail?)

Soledad goes to visit Hugo's tomb. It will be the last time because she has agreed not to go there for the remainder of her pregnancy for health reasons. Soledad pays the cemetery guard to put flowers on Hugo's grave and after she leaves the evil Antonia pays the guy not to do so. Why should she care if Soledad isn't going to go to the tomb? We can guess that when Hugo ultimately comes back, he will interpret the lack of any attention to his grave as an proof of the fact that Soledad doesn't care about him.

Sofia tries to comment; Rico can't turn his back and break his promise to Cami. Sofia agrees. Rico thanks her, says she's a magnificent lady.

* Alberto grumbles to Jorge in his office about Sofia's interference in his plan. Jorge says the only way to really stop his wife is to kill her. Sofia enters and interrupts - she needs to speak with Jorge in private. She leaves. Alberto continues to grumble about Sofia. Jorge counters with Alberto's stupid plan and impatience against Rico. Alberto grumbles about Rico. Jorge says so what? now you've created even more problems and dangers. Alberto continues to grumble about Sofia's influence over him. Jorge tells Alberto off; Sofia is his wife and he is the governor and Alberto needs to show his respect always. Alberto swallows hard and apologizes. Jorge is frustrated by Alberto. Alberto leaves.

* Higinio is at work outside the mill. Justo approaches to talk with him. Vasco is on the balcony and sees his father. Justo spots Vasco and starts to leave. Vasco runs downstairs and tries to stop Justo. Vasco begs to return home. Justo is still angry. Vasco asks about Rico. Justo tells him that Cami is still gone and Rico is now in jail. Vasco is impactado.

* Alberto meets with Captain about Sofia and Rico. Alberto orders Captain to move his guards around Cami's family's houses - they are to spy on the family's every movement. When one leaves town, they are to follow, catch the person and bring them back. Captain tries to refuse; Alberto yells and demands Captain carries it out.

* Justo and Vasco go to the hacienda. Justo talks with Samuel (his real name, I was calling him Guerrero). They discuss Rico being in prison and getting a message to Cami. Samuel says that Jesus just left to tell the crew. Justo walks towards the gate - Vasco volunteers to ride out and tell Cami the message, to convince her not to return because it is really dangerous. The gates open. Vasco and Samuel leave on horses. Justo walks down the street. Captain and assistant walk out of nearby hiding place and down the street.

* Jesus arrives at Hotel Iguana. Cami and Jimena run outside as Jesus tells Guero and crew that Rico is in jail and Cami should not return. Cami is impactado and in disbelief.

* Cami runs into her room, pulls out her suitcase and starts to pack. Jimena tries desperately to convince her to stay and wait
for Mario (stick with Rico's plan). Cami is too worried and paranoid and is determined to return to San Fernando.

* Jimena runs outside to the beach and tells Jesus and Guero to help convince Cami to stay put as Rico had requested, that no matter what Cami should not leave La Iguana. Jesus agrees.

* On la Salamandra, Mario and Pablo and a crewmate are busy rigging up the ropes on the masthead. Mario and Pablo discuss Jimena, Cami and Rico. Pablo and Mario debate following Antillano's orders and the difference between the crew with no real hopes or dreams for the future and Antillano with a future and fortune. Pablo also mentions that Mario has a future now as well. Mario asks Pablo if he's thought any more about what they last discussed. Pablo turns, pouts and jumps down to the lower deck.

* In the pirate cantina, Paisana cries as she smokes a cigarette. Chino asks why she wants to go to San Fernando. She says she's curious about her son. Chino wonders which one? She says her middle son, Pablo. Chino knows he is part of Antillano's crew and gives his comments. He then wonders about Antillano and Foreman. Paisana says if Antillano and Mario are working together, they are fine but Foreman has his own agenda and if he suspects someone is deceiving him, he will kill. Chino agrees. They discuss plan, and Antillano wanting to retire and following him in leaving the pirate life; Chino says it always seems to end the same way for everyone of them. Paisana doesn't know what else to do besides being a pirate. Chino says she could be with her son. Paisana isn't so sure, her son may slap her and reject her. Chino says they will leave tomorrow.

* Guards take Jorge into the small interior cell. Rico stands as Jorge enters. Jorge orders guard to leave without handcuffing Rico - he's a gentleman for pete's sake. Guard leaves. Jorge sniffs bottle and remarks on Sofia's excellent choice in wine. Rico thanks him for it. Jorge talks with Rico about why Alberto put him in jail and what it will take to release him. Rico suspects that Alberto prepared the trap; Jorge will investigate. Jorge talks to Rico about the confrontation he and Alberto had about each other's true identities. Rico understands. Jorge laughs that Rico couldn't be Antillano, as much Don Gaspar would never have recommended a pirate. That's true, says Rico, any regrets? Jorge says in no way. Jorge will give instructions to the guards that no one is to bother Rico. Rico says thanks. Jorge says if he needs something, send a message. Jorge says when Cami does return, they will protect her, don't worry it. Jorge leaves. Guard talks with Rico - Rico doesn't trust a word Jorge said but the guard thinks it is a good sign, because not every prisoner gets visits from both Sofia and Jorge. Rico sits down, rubs his belly and shakes head.

* Lis and Fran enter the salon before Alberto enters. Alberto helps Lis sit down on the chair. Fran sits on the sofa. Alberto tells them that Rico is fine, just bothered by so much time in prison and tells her that Sofia and Jorge have visited him. Alberto then tells her the message Rico sent to Cami. Alberto is having the houses watched for Cami's return. When she returns, they are to bring Cami in and finish the trial. Alberto kneels beside Lis and asks when they can sign the marriage contract. Lis hesitates and asks Fran for help. Fran comes up with a really good excuse to delay the signing. Alberto is impatient and doesn't want to wait months. Alberto leaves. Lis and Fran whisper and debate about Lis being more concerned about Rico than about marrying Alberto. Fran is disgusted by Lis' belligerence.

* In sitting room, Sofia and Fortunata debate Rico's arrest, Gonzalo, Jorge and Alberto. Sofia says Gonzalo was drunk. Fortunata is stunned by the admission. Sofia explains her reasons. Fortunata tries to give her opinions but Sofia stops her from saying her stupidities. Jorge enters. He just visited Rico. Sofia has Fortunata and Consuelo leave the room. Alone, Jorge and Sofia debate Rico being in prison and Sofia going to visit him. She complains about the lousy treatment of the prisoners and thinks Alberto wants to manipulate the situation in his favor. Jorge wonders why she thinks this? Sofia explains that Lis is in love with Rico; Alberto wants to marry Lis; Alberto is taking his hostility out on Rico. Jorge understands Lis and doesn't think Alberto would kill in cold blood. Sofia mentions that Alberto once admitted to an idea of being disposed to kill someone's child. Jorge has flashback to his conversation with Alberto about killing Rita so Santo and Manuela could get married and have a son. Sofia tells Jorge to be careful.

* Vasco and Samuel ride along the trail at a fast gallop. Guards are following. Samuel and Vasco stop and see the guards behind them. Vasco and Samuel hide behind a large bush and watch the guards pass by.

* Jorge and Sofia discuss the fate of Rico in prison if Cami returns (he will be released) and if she doesn't return (he will remain there). Sofia wonders about Cami's fate. Jorge will order that she be sent to live under supervised house arrest. Sofia wonders if he's serious. He says will do it if Lis agrees. Sofia thanks him. He says he isn't such a bad guy. He kisses her hand and leaves. Sofia thinks for a minute and then leaves to find Consuelo.

* Ines comes outside and tells Justo that Paco is inside in his room and doesn't know what's happening. Ofelia and Rita, holding Ana, walk over. Ofelia is worried and wanted to know the latest news about Rico; she says that Rita insisted on accompanying her. Justo walks Rita to the side and says he really doesn't want to tell her anything due to her attitude towards Cami. Rita tries to convince him that she is really concerned. He greets his granddaughter. Justo briefly talks with Rita and Ofelia about his worries over Cami. Justo walks away to the arriving coach. Rita tries to argue with Ofelia, but Ofelia walks away to the coach and greet Sofia. Sofia walks over to greet Rita and Ana.

* Out on the beach in front of Hotel Iguana, Cami tries desperately to convince Jesus, Guero and Jimena to let her return to San Fernando. Rico needs her help. They insist that she needs to stay there and wait for Mario, follow Rico's orders. Vasco and Samuel finally arrive. Cami is happy to see her brother. Vasco dismounts and walks Cami inside the hotel to talk about what happened to Rico, and Rico's message to her. Samuel talks to Jimena, Guero and Jesus outside. They debate the matter, Jimena tells them that Cami's family doesn't know about Antillano, they all think he's a commercial shipping tycoon. Samuel says that they have to make Cami stay and wait for Mario. Jesus mentions Rico being in jail and Cami knows it.

* Justo, Sofia, Ines, and Ofelia talk in the yard - Justo tells them that Vasco left to tell Cami the message from Rico. Ines adds that Vasco feels very guilty for his part in what's happening to Cami now. Justo is worried about Cami returning and going to jail. Sofia tells them that Jorge said he would work to have her placed under supervised house arrest, and that Rico will go free. Ofelia wonders if they can believe him. Sofia says yes, and it will happen if Lis agrees. Ines says then they shouldn't believe it because Lis is evil. Ines and Sofia debate about Lis and her motivations. Rita quietly listens as she holds Ana in her arms. Justo wonders about talking with Lis and convincing her to think about it.

* In the room, Cami is crying as Vasco gives her the message from Rico and Justo. He works to convince his sister not to return to San Fernando. Vasco feels guilty and says that he should be the one in jail, not Rico. Cami wants Rico to be free so he can gather up the money needed to pay off her debts. Cami laments at all the problems that have come up. She agrees to wait for Mario. Vasco assures her about Rico. Cami says they need to trust him. Cami asks about Justo and Ines.

* Vasco comes outside to the group on the beach. He tells them that Cami has agreed to stay and wait for Mario. She trusts Rico. The crew leaves to prepare for the departure.

* Guard brings a basket of food and wine and a fresh shirt to Rico from Sofia. Rico says good night. Guard leaves. Rico eats in his cell.

* Cami sits in her room, thinking. Jimena brings in a food tray. Cami can't take the waiting and wondering. Jimena assures her about Rico's plan and he knows what he's doing. Cami says it isn't right. Jimena says that maybe so but it's better if Rico is in jail than Cami. Cami isn't hungry and goes to bed. Jimena takes some bread and leaves. Cami can't sleep.

* Rico can't sleep in his cell either. He mumbles for Cami to trust him.

* Cami wraps up some bread in a napkin, grabs her wrap and sneaks down the hallway.

* She leaves Hotel Iguana. She sees the crewmate is asleep by the campfire on the beach. She runs away into the woods. At a good distance from La Iguana, she stops nibbles on her bread and continues to walk down the trail.

* The next day, Cami wakes up under a tree. She scrambles to the road and tries to hail a passing carriage. The carriage doesn't stop. Cami is frustrated as she turns and sees the next carriage caravan coming down the road. She runs over and gets the caravan to stop. She asks the lady (Paisana) for a ride to San Fernando. The lady (Paisana) nods with man (Chino) on horseback and lets Cami climb aboard. With lady (Paisana's) command, the carriage starts rolling again.

* At a rest stop, (Paisana) and Cami start to discuss why Cami is going to San Fernando. They introduce themselves to each other. Paisana is vague about where she's from. Paisana tells Cami that she's going to San Fernando to visit Rico Lopez de Carvajal. Cami is impactado. Cami asks how she knows him? Paisana says for many years. Cami says that he's a, well, he's her husband and he's in jail because of her. Paisana is impactado. Chino orders them to leave.

* Justo visits Rico in jail cell, and tells him that Vasco went to convince Cami to stay away. Rico isn't convinced it will work. Rico needs to plan a way to escape, somehow, someway.

* Caravan arrives in San Fernando and stops near the shop and plaza. Cami climbs out. Paisana tells her to tell Rico that Paisana and Chino are in town and ready to help. they will be staying at the local hotel. Cami leaves. Paisana tells Chino that she is Antillano's wife and he's in prison on another matter. They go on to the hotel.

* Guard brings Rico paper and a quill. Another guard informs him of something. Guard enters the cell and handcuffs Rico; apparently he is to be brought to Don Eustaquio's office.

* As Rico enters the office, he is impactado when he sees Cami standing there, smiling at him.

ADVANCE: Santo and Ascanio meet with Don Pastor and the other Rico Lopez de Carvajal. Rico goes free; Cami goes to jail; and Lis demands that Cami becomes her servant forever.

Yo Amo A Juan, Tuesday 3/18: The Truth, the Whole Truth

Monica and Laura are having a chat about what Monica should do with the men in her life so that she can finally be a happy woman.

Paula and Juan smile at each other and chat in the lobby after their business meeting. Juan starts to lean closer to her just as Cesar Luis enters the lobby and barks at them. And Paula, may I inquire as to what exactly you're doing with this nobody?!?

Marely happens on Nidia and Delirio squabbling about the matter with Paula Davila -- and she asks her mom what exactly are they talking about. Delirio threatens Nidia about the consequenses, but Marely insists on hearing the truth.

CL tells Paula she's really stooping low to associate with Juan. Juan comes to her defense and tells CL not to insult Paula. An associate breaks in to pull CL away from the scene he is making the the lobby.

Marely confronts her mom and Nidia does not want to tell her the truth to her daughter: her heart is too pure, Nidia is ashamed. Marely won't have it and wants to hear it, however bad it is.

Paula and Juan resume their gazing at each other in the lobby and she suggests that they go to lunch, a business lunch.

Nidia tells her daughter that she and Delirio stole Samuel Cachon's inheritance from the Davilas: the rightful inheritors. That is how they have been living all this time. Otherwise Samuel would have left them nothing, after all of the sacrifices that Nidia made for him over the years! Nidia snipes at the injustice of it all. Marely is horrified at her mom.

Marely tells her mom that she has to do the only good thing that she now can in this situation, and that is to call Paula and set up a time to meet that same day to tell her the whole truth. Nidia balks. Marely picks up the phone receiver for her.

Paula's cell rings and she asks Nidia what the matter is. They agree to meet at Paula's work at Don Agarita's at 4 that afternoon. Paula and Juan sit down to lunch.

Delirio has been listening to the proceedings with Nidia and Marely outside the door to the study. He scurries upstairs as they emerge from their conversation.

At lunch, Paula tells Juan that she's missed him seeing him, missed him as a friend, that is. Juan brightens up. Of course!

Juanito is with Kike as he feeds princessita Nidia. Kike tells Juanito that it's awfully quiet in the house, too quiet. A storm must be on the way! Juanito looks alarmed.

Delirio has just managed to jump into a chair and rustle his newspaper when Marely bursts in. She calls him a liar, a lawyer, and a coward! He tries to play dumb, but she cuts him off.

Nidia goes upstairs to get herself all pretty for her meeting with Paula.

Delirio is trying to get Kike to talk to Yadira for him -- and Kike wants to know why Yadira would listen?

Fernando tries to call Marely from the office, but Juanito answers and tells Fern that Marely's not available.

CL makes some calls to try to reach Paula, but can't get through. He yells at Yvonne to locate both Paula and Monica for him. She counters that if he can't reach them, how would she be able to? He screams at her to get to it!

Yvonne disturbs the eavsdroppers outside as she bursts out of CL's office. Where is Gaitan? She finds Gaitan and tells him that the boss has gone crazy. And Paula's with Juan Dominquez! Gaitan counters that Paula's pregnant. Yvonne tells him to go see the boss. Gaitain says that if he's killed by CL, he wants to be burried in Jalisco!

Nidia tells Delirio that they're going to face whatever comes from the errors they've committed. If that means prison, so be it!

At lunch, Paula suddenly doubles over with pain. Juan wants to get help, but she insists on staying at the table. She doesn't want to go to a doctor, she'll go home. Juan argues with her to try to get her to agree to get help.

Mr. Professor comes in to have an "intellectual" conversation with Delirio. Kike comes down the stairs and there is a confrontation and scuffle between the men. Nidia tells them to break it up, no fighting in her house.

Delirio goes upstairs, followed by the professor, and starts to pack his suitcase. They come back down the stairs and Delirio bumps into Yadira in his hurry out. Yadi gets some of the info from Mr. Professor and pieces together what the news about her mom and Paula Davila must be. Juanito looks on, alarmed.

Nidia is looking glam in a flashy cap and glasses at Don Angarito's. He asks if she is meeting with Paula to tell her the truth. Yes, but she's so nervous, she might just take off! He tells her to stay put and reassures her that he'll be there for her.

Juan gets Paula to the car. She still doesn't want to go to the hospital, but she's in a lot of pain. Don't leave me! Juan grips her hand, worried, and drives as fast as he can.

Yadi sits in shock with tea on the couch as Mr. Professor tries to talk to her. Suddenly, she gets up and hurries him to the door.

Juan reaches the hospital, calls for a doctor, and carries Paula in. Later, the doctor comes out to tell Juan that "his wife" has lost the baby.

Guapos 03-18-08 "An Epic TeleNovela"

"They were careless people, Tom and Daisy — they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made…"

I am dedicating this episode to the fine memory of “The Great Gatsby”, in fact I am dedicating this entire TeleNovela to the characters of “The Great Gatsby”.

We start the episode with Andrea, what a fem-bot bitch, regaling, Al, Luci & Val with her tale of woe. The baby that was snatched from her very womb, by the fetus-fatal push down the steps.
---Now I must ask here, why did no one go to the hospital last night? I mean these people are such asses, had she really been pregnant with lil’ Prince Fauntleroy. Don’t you think some of the in-laws could have checked in or maybe just called the hospital. Geez I guess that would have just been too much effort. Also having never fallen down a flight of steps in the first trimester or actually any mester, would you just go in and be sent home in a taxi the next day? I mean we know she faked the whole thing, but don’t you think the thought would cross some of these other AssHats minds?

Mili says how sorry she is and how it was an accident. She is verbally attacked on all sides.

Luci & Val the insipid throwing Mili’s things at her across the kitchen. The Good people or lower-class servants say they will all walk out. Luci, of the pink watery eyes is forced to wonder, when in the hell did these people learn to think for themselves? Life was so much simpler, before the peasants realized there is power in numbers. Egads what’s next? A union?

Consti & Sergio are talking in Consti’s office. Consti gets a phonecall from the Rich Guy that Al had dinner with and passed off Mili as his wife. The guy wants to have dinner at the house tonite and Consti says it would be a perfect time to met Sergio’s parents. Sergio looks a bit green at this.

Al talks to Hugo, the twisted soul, and Hugo confirms that Mili lost her temper, went BSC and shoved her down the steps. Hugo then whispers, Forgive me Mili.
Maybe Mili will…but Hugo you are deader to me than you already were.

Al tells Mili, it would be best if she left.

Meanwhile back at the office, Andrea is gloating to Consti over her prior, “Scarlett falls down the stairs” scene. Consti is all congratulations. He says he can give her what she needs. Andrea tells him she will stick with Al, as Al is much younger than Consti. Consti looks none to pleased with this. I can see no possible way this AssHat can be redeemed, he is willing to allow his “daughter” to carry the guilt that she is responsible for killing a baby; rather than give up hope of playing “Hide the Salami” with Andrea.

Next we see Al & Andrea in the foyer, Consti needs to talk to both of them. He tells them about the dinner tonite. How everyone must be on their best behavior. When he brings up the couple that is coming and tells Andrea she has already, met them; she draws a blank. Finally Al fesses up that it was Mili. Consti, has no problem with this, fine you will hide upstairs and Mili will attend the dinner. Andrea has just entered the Nth degree of pissedness .

Now we have a regular family gathering as Consti has come home to tell the family unit, that there is to be a big dinner, with the wealthy clients and Serigo’s parents. Having the attention spans of the Rich and Famous, it is all goody-goody a ball. Then Consti announces Mili will be appearing as Al’s spouse. Ewwww all those smiles turn to frowns. He explains it’s a business. Andrea takes off. Consti tells Gloves, that they won’t need kitchen babe tonight, he is hiring an international chef.

Gloves goes to the kitchen to tell Kitchen Babe she has the night off as they are getting a international chef for the big doings. Kitchen Babe is offended. Mili strolls through and says she is outta there.

On to the living room. Consti catches Mili and tells her of the evening plans. She says no until everyone apologizes. Consti makes Al, Val & Luci apologize. Mili agrees to stay.

We next spot Sergio with manipulator man (the one who is pulling Consti’s strings), Sergio is whining that he is expected to present his rents tonight and how can he do that, when they know and like his real wife and baby. Manipulator Man, laughs and says hire actors. Like those people over there. It is a set up, he has hired these people to act as Sergio’s parents.
For the love of Gawd, I feel like I am watching one of those teen movies, spoofing other movies. They have pulled out every tried and true recent TeleNovela plot line and just thrown it out there. Is this supposed to be like Epic TeleNovela? Cause they never give any lead up..this crap is just thrown out there. We have had two doctors willing to lie, the gyno guy & the shrink, the kid raised at the church, the fake pregnancy, the staircase, the drunk, the gambler, mental illness, the lying cheating Novio who is already married…and it just continues….but at least they quickly move on to some other pointless plotline. I think my favorite so far is crazy French guy who wasn’t even the father of Al, but was forced to sacrifice his sanity and life for? Who knows.

Next Val is upstairs with Andrea lamenting how unfair it is, that the crème of society, Sergio’s parents are going to have to break bread with Mili the Naca. Andrea has crossed from pissed to the nth degree to demonpissed. She begins pacing the floor and staring in the mirror. She picks up the shears (big huge shears, cause I guess she makes her own clothes out of polyester and a wealth of 70’s Butterick patterns). She starts pulling her shirt tails out and slashing them. Val has actually shut up for a moment and is just staring. Hit me, Hit me Andrea says.

Gloves is showing Mili a dress, which he holds up in front of himself. Whew…Whew…Whew, sorry folks that is my Gaydar going off. I am not being judgemental, simply stating the facts. Mili asks why he helps her and he says he believes in the truth. Mili says Regina is like her Grandmother and he is like her Tio.
---Please Mili tell me the next six numbers for powerball---
Gloves is affected by Mili and her good hearted innocence.

Down in the kitchen, some chick has shown up. She is a snooty international chef. She starts making normal kitchen chick help her. Horacio comes in and Chef lady starts feeding him. He keeps saying everything is good, but needs more salsa. Chef lady starts coming on really strong, as kitchen babe stands there and watches.

Mili enters Andrea’s room. I don’t know why. Maybe Val the Vapid went to get her. Andrea is lying on the floor, wearing her sliced up blouse. Mili thinking Andrea has passed out, no doubt due the massive loss of blood during the fake miscarriage, runs over and kneels down by her. Andrea reaches up grabs her and starts screaming for Mili to let her go. Val runs in and starts screaming and here comes Al. He jerks Mili up off Andrea. Andrea gets up and we can see she has been hit in the mouth. Andrea says Mili attacked her. Al goes all medieval on Mili and he is screaming at her and Val is screaming at her and of course Andrea is screaming at her. Mili is sobbing cause no one believes her.

Val is just staring at Andrea as she prances, well we know Val hit her. Andrea thanks her for her help. Val just stands like, she knows this is BSC behavior and somehow maybe it is an old childhood tale she heard in Bible School; Val looks like she has an inkling that this is wrong….BUT Que the Hell, who has time, when you have to shop and important stuff like that.

Bobby & Rocky lament together over Val getting married to Sergio. Luci comes out and tells Bobby, they are having a very special dinner and sorry he isn’t invited. Bobby says no problemo, he has come to see Al, and oh by the by, his parents are very happy and very much in love in Italy. Oh Snap Bobby. Luci draws her thin lips together and smiles she is so happy for them, as if.

Moving on to dinner, Damien, Hugo, Al (with his eleven year old fat girl pony tail), Val, Sergio, Sergio’s fake parents, Consti & Luci are seated about the table. Mili couldn’t be there, they make up some fake excuse. Of course Mili is lurking in plan sight around the semi corner. The fancy food is served and in an attempt at comedy..people start spitting it out into their fine cloth napkins. Mili & kitchen babe have laced it with habenaro sauce. Gloves runs to the kitchen yells at international lady, who is miffed. Gloves grabs the covered dinner platter and runs it back to the dining room. Come to think of it where is Granny, did I miss her or is she having a dinner of liver and other wholesome foods with Andrea, attempting to rebuild Andrea’s blood supply? Maybe she is just locked up in the bedroom. Gloves removes the platter cover and I must say, if you missed this fine scene, well the hilarity insues. It is not a goose, or a duck or a fine rack of lamb, it is a large breathing frog…Screams everywhere. You know this happens all the time. Mili and kitchen babe are yucking it up (in plain sight)…See what I mean, I think this is a TeleNovela spoof. Gloves rushes back to the kitchen, kicks international lady out. Kitchen babe rushes in and pulls out a finely browned piece of some kind of meat from the oven. Thank all the saints..the day is saved. Kitchen babe gets to do all the big dinners from now on. Somewhere an angel got it’s wings.

Now to the girl’s bedroom. Gloria is eating some of the fine food. Mili comes in and Lina & Karla. Lina & Gloria get out their latest purchase from the witchdoctor of love. Karla is like, don’t do that in here. The girls pour the powder on top of something..I don’t know what…maybe chicken entrails?

Anyway copious amounts of smoke pour into the room the girls are chanting and Karla comes out of the bathroom, she calls Gloves, I mean smoke is everywhere…Rocky comes running up and they say Gloria is still in the room. Rocky rushes into save her and Gloria says she can’t breathe and needs mouth to mouth. “You are the Meat & I am Hungry.” Gloria gets him in a huge lip lock.

Thus the end..
Questions?
Turn to the person seated to your right and discuss this morality play.
Thus so far…
Have any of the victims, ie..Mili, dead French guy, deserved the hand they have been dealt?

Also tomorrow, Rocky is kissing Gloria and Val steps in and says hands off he is mine
Plus the big wedding, where Sergio’s wife and kid show up and everyone is confused as to which side of the church they should be seated in.

Pasión, 03/17/08: The Jailhouse Rock …Er… Crock

We begin as Jorge, Al, Marcelino and Eustaquio are discussing why Cami spent so much money. It was to help out her family after the earthquake. Jorge says he wants the case settled ASAP since he’s upset at the huge amount he’s spending daily to keep the additional troops in the city. Marcelino wonders why they are even needed to begin with. Al gets huffy and tells him that “unfortunately (yes, yes you scum) Camila will have to be put in jail and her husband may try to rescue her.” Marcelino thinks it laughable, which irritates Al even more. “You don’t know him!” “---What do you mean I don’t know him?” Marcelino asks him. Eustaquio pricks his ears up at this but Jorge shuts this risky part of the discussion down saying it’s senseless. He wants to make sure then that nobody knows of his involvement in the trial and gives orders for them to say he knows nothing if anyone asks.

Outside Ric and his men arrive with numerous big chests as his part of the agreement to return the inheritance. He sends his men home against his man Jesus’ better judgment. Inside Eustaquio’s office the judge and Al are now arguing over some drastic measures Al wants to take against Ric. Al just wants to know if what he’s planning is legal or not. Eustaquio feels a gentleman’s word is always taken at face value but yes, it’s legal. Al gets testy again and insists that Ric is NOT a gentleman. Eustaquio mentions it’s the second time Al’s brought this up and wonders what he knows that the rest of them don’t. Al sneers it’s his “intuition.”

When Ric enters the office to discuss the terms of the agreement Al has already bullied the judge into allowing him to stay for the meeting between the two. Ric refuses to bring Cami back to appear in court to settle the matter. Al tells Eustaquio to leave the two of them alone to talk. Eustaquio, uncomfortable with this leaves them alone.

Outside in the plaza, Chip –maybe it’s Dale—and Santi ask one of the soldiers standing around why they’re there. He answers it’s to prevent an attack from pirates. Santi can’t believe it and the two walk on to the forge.

Once the judge has left his office Al sneers that they are going to lay their cards on the table and speak openly. He says that as the pirate known as El Antillano he will not keep his word. Ric smiles coolly and says he knows who Bouffy is too: someone who steals the King’s gold from caravans and sells it to an English corsair known as John Foreman. Bouffy is briefly impactado, having what seems to be a perfect Mexican standoff, but unfortunately for Ric it is only momentarily. Alberto recovers and tells Ric that despite knowing who is who, neither of the two has proof about the other.

Ric says he does have proof and mentions Al’s farmhand who sold the cart carrying his two stolen chests and that he recovered it. Bouffy smirks, self-assured now, and says it doesn’t mean a thing since the farmhand could have bought it from someone else and that it could have changed hands who knows how many times before. Therefore, being a pirate, his word to pay back the rest of the inheritance is worthless. Ric answers not as worthless as the word from a pig like LaFont. They both touch their swords, but Al catches himself just in time and laughs advising Ric not to bother provoking him into an argument in order to kill him. There are too many guards around and Ric wouldn’t get out alive. So, Cami must return. Ric is adamant. “She will NOT return!” Al says then they will just have to hold him hostage until she does. (I swear, the only thing missing in this scene is Uriel’s discarded mustaches for Bouffy to twirl.)

Over at Palace Mancera, meanwhile, Ursula makes her entrance and greets Uriel. She giggles at the fact he cut his mustache off. Uriel says her daddy said she didn’t like it and now he hopes she likes the new him. It’s all the same to her, not that she ever really took a good long look at him before she says and circles her new prey. Forunata frowns.
==============

Ric is led to a cell. They take all his weapons away and lock him in down in the dungeon. (Well, hey. At least he doesn’t have to share it with 10 others.) Ric wipes at his nose from the smell.

In the meantime Cami and Jime gossip on the beach about what it’s like to make mad passionate love with a man like Ric–at least, Jime tries to wheedle it out of Cami. Cami is too embarrassed to talk about it. Jime says she hopes someday to have some hunk make her go crazy in bed. Cami says she has Mario, but Jime wrinkles her nose and says he’s just a playboy looking for a good time. She remarks at how different Cami’s two loves have been. Cami says basically they’re both the same: good men, noble and generous. “Ric is a bit more dangerous but Santi isn’t a coward either. He just thinks about things differently and sees things that happen as the will of God. “--and don’t ever underestimate the wrath of a godly man,” she tells Jime.

Bouffy tells Jorge that Ric is being held prisoner till he reveals where Cami is being kept. He says according to the law the authorities have the right to hold him till he talks. Jorge thinks it’s a bit extreme to hold him in jail. Al suggests they can allow him visitors and wait for him to send a message to one of his people and follow them to wherever Cami is hiding out. He tells Jorge that it is the opportune moment to get rid of Ric and avoid him giving them away as the ones attacking the money caravans, not to mention the future business deal they’ve just put together with Foreman. It seems Ric has most of it figured out already. The two of them speculate that Foreman must have told him about it.

Jorge asks what Bouffy has planned and he says he’ll get a brawl started in the jail with one of the guards. The guy, being excitable, will get into it with the guard and the guard can then kill him. Jorge isn’t very convinced because Ric’s death inside of the prison could prove very suspicious especially to Ric’s well-placed connections. People will start to talk because it’s not like a clean, fair fight in the middle of the street or something. Inside the jail there are other witnesses besides the guards themselves.

Al says this is more important than even getting back Lis’ money. Ric is unarmed, but if the reverse happens and he manages to kill the guard instead, then they can accuse him of murder. Jorge still refuses to agree to the plan. Alberto gets upset. “-- But something has to be done!” (Think about this, Al, before your megalomania turns obsessive, or perhaps it already has.) Jorge now looks resigned and nods.

Alberto later goes down to speak with the jailer and tells him that Ric is to be treated with deference. Any food he gets will not be common prison rations but will come from Al’s own household. The only thing he will not be permitted is visitors.
=============

Clothilde is now at LaFont’s working for Lis and Fran again. Slavishly she promises to keep her eyes and ears open for them and come running as soon as she finds anything of interest to tell them and leaves. Fran says she is still worried that Ric might take the inheritance thing out on her. Clothilde comes back in to say Al is in the living room and wants to speak to Lis in private. Fran and Lis suspect it has something positive to do with the case so Clothilde takes Lis out to speak to Bouffy.

Alone, Al explains Ric’s situation to Lis. She gets upset when she hears he’s been jailed. He says if she wants to get her money back Ric’s got to be held hostage until Cami returns. She smirks and says Ric will die before he’s forced into telling them anything about Cami. Bouffy, who is more than a little jealous by now, suspiciously asks Lis point blank if she is in love with Ric. Lis quickly denies it, saying the one who should be imprisoned is Cami.

Bouffy tells her not to worry, Ric will be let loose soon; but it does worry him a bit that she should get so anxious about a guy who supposedly came to help her and deceived her instead. She makes excuses about Cami having snared Ric in her net. LaFont puts his hand over Lis’ now, rubs it slowly and says in a sad attempt at being romantic, “My Queen, Ric is no naïve youngster. He’s his own man and if he got involved with Camila it was because he thought about it long and hard first.” He moves in close and begins to kiss said hand, then Lis’ ear and then her neck. With each progressive nibble Lis’s eyes bug out bigger and her skin crawls more and more (--along with mine out here in televiewer land. Gawd, give me a shower!) Lis obiously didn’t count on this little …er…complication.

Across town Mannie is at evening prayers. She turns around to notice that Ascanio, back from his trip with a huge (and nasty looking) 5:00 shadow, has come to the service also and is sitting a few rows behind. She smiles at him; he looks a bit sheepishly at her. The service ends and they take a walk together with Agata uncomfortably forced to chaperone. He asks Manuela if she’s upset her father is marrying Lis or if she’s treated Mannie badly. Mannie says she scarcely has seen Lis, but she doesn’t like the way Lis is going after Cami taking her to court. As far as she’s concerned, if her father chose to give his money to Cami, then that’s that.

Mannie tells Ascanio she’s glad she thought to ask him to become her friend. He says it’s dangerous for her and worries that her father will take it out on her. He asks if Al hits her. She answers what fathers don’t hit their kids, and he says that doesn’t excuse it. Well, he doesn’t hit her, but he might lock her away in some dark place as punishment and adds she really is afraid of the dark. He wants to know what she really wants from him, friends yes, but.... Mannie smiles at him and says whatever God might want is what they’ll be. Ascanio says more likely The Devil instead. She replies that this is not the Devil’s work and he kisses her hand at that. He says the whole thing frightens him because of the danger to her, but she smiles back at him and says it fills her with joy.

Al has the Captain of the Guard, Carrasco, come to his home and he explains his plan regarding Ric. Since Ric is a gentleman he is to be treated like one he says. The next day he is to be taken briefly to the outdoor garden and cleaned up. Being that Ric is a meticulously neat person he won’t refuse the offer. Carrasco asks if Don Jorge has agreed to this and Al loses it again. “Of course Don Jorge agrees!” So Carrasco apologizes and leaves. Bouffy grumbles to himself about everyone always asking him if Jorge agrees. “Doesn’t my word count for anything??”

Just then Manuela arrives home late and makes some excuse to her father. She asks what the news is with Uriel and he informs her that Uriel is now going to marry Ursula. She tells Agata the news and Agata says that it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s going to be allowed to marry Ascanio, either, but Mannie says dreamily that she believes in miracles.

Across town Ines gets after Santi for refusing to intercede with Jorge to keep his pal, Ascanio, or Cami from what’s coming. She gets so angry at him and says if it’s because he’s still angry at Cami for marrying somebody else perhaps he should consider she might have done it in order to try to forget him. He says tough. Cami has a husband and it should be his job to protect her then limps self-righteously home.

GRita greets Santi (yeah, that was all he needed just then) and she asks for the details about what’s been happening to her sister. He tells her in short that she’s got to give back her inheritance but doesn’t have it all because of helping others out with it. He adds that it’s all Vasco’s fault for doing something rotten and cowardly to Cami in the first place.
GRita says it was more likely Cami’s fault for greedily marrying some old man for his money, like she did afterward with Ric. Everybody, she whines, wants to put Cami on a pedestal for no good reason, and so their life is turned upside down and they don’t sleep in the same bed even anymore. Because of her they argue all the time and …yadda, yadda, yadda. Santi gets angry and says Cami didn’t do any such thing and to stop griping already. In particular he doesn’t want to hear anything more about Ric-the-wretch and stomps off leaving GRita with nobody to b!tch to but the baby. (Poor baby, first curdled milk and now this kvetching from her mom all the time.)

It’s late in the afternoon and Jesus and the other pirate are becoming worried that Ric hasn’t returned from the court proceedings. They go into town to try to find him.

Inside the dungeon the jailer carries a basket with food to Ric that was sent over from LaFont’s house. Ric wisely suspects something and, deciding not to eat it, he asks for water to drink.

At the beach hideaway Cami tells Jime she’s afraid something will happen to Ric. She knows he’s impulsive, but Jime says if he were that kind of impulsive he’d have killed both Bouffy and Jorge long ago and been done with it.

Back at Frankenstein Manor Fran tries to calm Lis down about Ric being held hostage. She is telling her that surely they have jailed Ric in order to force Cami’s return to San Fernando so she will be forced to hand herself over to the authorities. Then they’ll surely let him go. Lis is feeling remorse for listening to Fran and definitely for ever having asked barfwad Bouffy’s help. Fran says, but you’ve got your money back now, don’t you? Lis argues it was necessary to jail Ric and she complains that now Ric is going to hate her for sure. (I thought she knew this going in.) Lis can’t stand it anymore and says she HATES, HATES, HATES Alberto and she should never have agreed to marry him. Fran and she end up griping again about who’s to blame and who approached him for help first. (Yawn.)

Ursula tells Fortunata that she wants to try Uriel out in bed before the marriage. This scandalizes Fortunata who is worried what would happen if Uriel should tell all this to her father. “Then he’s no gentleman. Besides, better a whore than a dried up old prune like you and my mother!!”

At the tavern Uriel tells Matteo he can’t take the time to go speak with Romeo Castillo yet. He’s got to woo Ursula. Matteo is anxious to get the new business rolling because he will need the cash coming in. He’s not going to be as well-fixed as Uriel now that Uriel is marrying Ursula. Uriel laughs (Woah! Try saying those two names together 10 times fast!) and promises to give him over the store once he’s married and has deep pockets.

Across the plaza Carrasco tells Jesus that Ric’s been jailed and no, they cannot see him. Jesus and the other pirate wonder who they can talk to about this and figure someone from the family could help, but they don’t know who would be part of the family. Just then they spot Ines and figure she visited so she must be either a friend or a relative of some kind. Jesus introduces himself and they tell her Ric is in jail. Now Ines is impactada with the shocking news.

At the prison, Bouffy is ticked when he hears that Ric refused to eat the food in the basket and he tells Carrasco to try again and leaves. Carrasco hides his disgust till after Bouffy’s gone then goes to see Ric with the basket. Ric says sorry, but he hasn’t had an appetite.

Ines tells Ric’s men she hasn’t the slightest idea why he’s been jailed, but Justo might be able to find out. Then she sees Bouffy in the plaza and runs over to ask why Ric’s in jail. He explains and says as soon as Cami appears they will let Ric out. Then, Bouffy takes a step towards Ines and caresses her forehead and cheek in another skin-crawling move of intimidation (and/or lust –hard to tell with him) while he asks her if perhaps she knows where Ric has Cami hidden. Ines pulls away and says nobody knows. He wouldn’t tell any of them either. Bouffy walks off and she goes over to explain to Jesus that once Cami returns they’ll let Ric go free.

Ines goes home then looking for help from Santi but Ofelia says he has gone to some fair to meet with some other businessmen and won’t be back for a few days. Ines tells her Ric is in jail. Ofelia is impactada and wants to know why.
========================

Captain Carrasco tells Bouffy that Ric has now refused the second basket of food and they agree he must think it is poisoned. (Perish the thought!) So Al tells Carrasco to try something else, to take him out of his cell with a few of the other convicts and make up the excuse that the cells have got to be disinfected for lice and flees and whatnot.

Down in the dungeon Ric asks the jailer to get word to his men since they’ll be worried that he never returned home the night before. He’s willing to pay him. The jailer tells him he has orders that he is not allowed any visitors. This enrages Ric who says every prisoner has that right, but the jailer admits not everyone. The truth is, he explains, Don Alberto put him there and he’s afraid to cross him. In the end he agrees to take a message to Justo but he’ll have to wait till his shift ends to avoid suspicions.

A while later, Carrasco with the jailer nearby, makes up a story for Ric saying that they must go out to the courtyard because they must clean the jail cells to prevent epidemics. Ric and the jailer both think this is pretty strange since they know it to be generally unheard of, but Ric has no other option but to go along with it. He and three other prisoners are tied up and taken out of their cells.

Back at Ric’s Jesus and the other pirate decide that Mario needs to know what’s happened. Jesus tells the other guy to stick around there while he goes to find Mario and the others. Mario will decide what to do then.
==================

Ines and Ofelia find Justo and tell him what’s happened and what they know. He decides to find Sofia and discuss it with her since none of them knows (and Ric had the foresight not to tell them) where Cami is hiding out.

Ursula is telling Uriel that she wants to go riding with him sometime soon as Justo arrives and is let inside to see Sofia. He explains what has happened and tells Sofia that Ric never told them where he sent Cami.

Sofia tells Ursula on her way out that Ric’s been jailed and she’s going to the prison. Once Justo and she have gone Fortunata, Ursula and Uriel consider it is probably because he killed somebody. Uriel tells them about how he nearly killed Gonzalo that night in the tarverna. Ursula thinks probably not, because her father would have hung him already. She says provocatively then thatshe would like to know some real pirates because they aren’t subject to laws and rules and regulations. Uriel says that’s because they are criminals who rob, rape and murder everyone (another guy who conveniently forgets what he’s been party too all this time). Ursula laughs and asks what high and mighty gentleman hasn’t done exactly the same? Uriel puffs and pouts self-righteously indignant.
==============

Back in Jorge’s office at the city hall, Marcelino pleads Cami’s case to Jorge. He says this wouldn’t be right, particularly since Justo is a pillar of the community. Eustaquio again says the law is the law and if they back down with her then others will expect the same response tomorrow and the day after. Just then Sofia arrives with Justo, interrupts the meeting and says she’s waiting for Jorge to give her an explanation. Jorge says there’s not much to explain. The law is the law. Sofia answers that around there he makes the laws.

Jorge denies this and adds that once Cami returns her husband can pay the remainder of the debt off and that is that. Justo says the problem is that Ric’s money and belongings were stolen from the last caravan heist and he doesn’t have the money now to pay. This comes as a surprise to Sofia and Jorge plays dumb.

The prisoners are led to the free area inside the dungeon where there is a basin of water. The guards want to force Ric to approach the basin to get a bowlful of water splashed on him. He resists them, starting a brawl. The guards kick him and beat him with huge rocks. The jailer arrives a few minutes later and tries to calm them all down then advises the guards that Doña Sofia is outside and demands to see Ric.

Justo and Sofia wait for Ric who is helped by two guards to walk since he is almost doubled over because of the beating he got. The captain of the guard tells Sofia that there was a quarrel among the prisoners. Sofia doesn’t believe him and orders the guards to go for a doctor. The captain is worried and says that he has his orders and tries to justify himself. She says to get out of her sight. He says it’s against the law and Don Alberto has given him his orders. She says her husband is the law around there. She wants to forget his position and to order them to kill him (Al or Carrasco, I’m not sure). Sofia says she doesn’t give a whit for Alberto and he should tell him so; and if Alberto has the stones he should come and complain to her.

Carrasco delivers the news and Sofia’s message to Al and says Doña Sofia didn’t leave him any other option. Al says he has Jorge’s support in this but Carrasco says she’s Jorge’s wife. Al says for all the excited demands a wife makes she must bend when her husband demands it. Carrasco is too frightened to refuse Jorge’s wife and explains that when somebody that powerful puts themselves in the way, you have to bow to their will. Bouffy angrily screams that only cowards do that and he should have held strong.

Carrasco tells him nervously that Sofia says if he still disagrees then he should speak with her about it. Al, who by now has the red-eyed, wild Dr. Zorba look from old Ben Casey days going for him, blows his stack and yells, “Did you tell her I had something to do with this?” Carrasco stutters back no, excuses himself and scurries away. Bouffy is beside himself. “Stupid clod!” he grumbles and we are left to wonder if he meant Carrasco or himself.
