Abismo de pasión #91 7/18/12: the loud water works are threatening Hoover Dam, but we have team Elisa at full force, Gab gets a broken face and team LoopGael bid for putting on a PI agency
Recap by Marta
Refrito:
Gael and Paloma at cenote
G:
No-one was there, not Abraham Lincoln, not Leurk, not the Undertaker, no
not Elisa either, only Dam because Loopy asked him to come.
P: I thought by now you would be with Elisa.
G: well, I am not that clingy, as you see.
P: And what is holding you back, Gael? Dam will marry Flo and Elisa is free, as you are.
G: Can we talk about anything BUT Elisa?
P: why did you come, then? (really, Paloma? You say you love this guy and can only nag him about your competition?)
G: I feel bad for the way we split.
P:
You don’t have to, you were honest. And I have you to thank for that.
It’s not your fault I am so pathetic. If you don’t love me, I am the
loser. I get it, I am not woman enough for you…
G: Don’t say that!, any man would feel proud to have you…
P: Yes, any man!, any man but you!...
G:
You think I am wooden? You think I don’t feel when I kiss you, when I
caress you? If I have not gone farther with you is not because I don’t
desire you but because I respect you and care for you a lot and I think
it would be unfair if I ended up hurting you!!…
P: Don’t tell me that!! Don’t say it!! Just admit that You don’t feel for me what you feel for Elisa…
G:
Ah will you stop the silly chatter?!! (that’s what I say!... they go
right into smooch… and powwow… ALL snipped off by Univision… including
the lovely song)
Ramona arrives at church, tells Padre she is to blame for Augusto’s fate!! .. Padre is clueless
- what are you saying, woman?? …
- I killed him!! I killed him!!...
- I am not getting it yet… do I get two more tries?
- You
were so right when you told me I should be careful with what I knew! I
did not listen to you, I went to Augusto and told him all about Carmina
and Rosie, and he could not handle the truth, and killed himself with
the shotgun in the study (another round of clue game, anyone? Not
possible to kill yourself in that game, only someone as ‘tortured soul’
as Augie can manage that)!...
- Augusto?...
- yes! Now how will I face Elisa again with? What explanation will I give her?? …
- For the love of God!!
Back to house of M &M.. More Braulio whooping-ass, he is all bloody by now..(YAY!!)…
B: Vicente is your son!! He is your son!!...
II: Is that true Gab?
G: course not!
B: He is asking for his father!! He is asking for you!!...
G: I have nothing to do with that chamaco!...
B: Get this you shmuck!! Tona and you wont take me for a ride again!. Admit in my face that you were with my wife!...
G: I
might have bad moment, but not bad taste…I wont admit to anything..
(Braulio shakes him more).yes I was with her, but it was when she was
still single, and I am a gentleman, did her the favor… (POW!).. cough cough.. sorry, forgive me, it is not my fault you married a woman I tasted first (is this from CS93?)
II: You are a filth of a husband! You miserable slump!
BR: Chente is awake and is asking for you! he needs you! you have to go see him!
Gab:
I don’t know if he… I don’t care! … with that woman, you have to
second-guess even the priest… (yikes! I wonder what Loopy would say
about that)
Br: you filth!! Early tomorrow you will go to the centro de salud!!.. Chente is very seriously ill, he needs a kidney! You are his father! And you have to donate it for him!
Gab: I cant give him something I don’t have! I don’t have anything to do with that chamaco.
BR:
You will do it, and you better not refuse, because I swear even if I
have to drag you there personally you will go and I will rip it(the
kidney) off of you with my own hands!! (throws him down)
At Castigo Manor… Lolita keeps calling Hacienda. Still gets busy signal.
Carmina comes… Lolita says she was going to call Padre and Gael.
Carmina orders her not to, she does not want to see anyone come.
Lolita insists not doing it for you, Elisa needs the ones that really love her to be with her.
Carmina insists it will be done as she wills and walks Lolita out of studio.
Lolita tells her this is not her house, because Don Aug had kicked her out.
Carmina assures Lolita that since he is now dead, by law she is now owner of the quinta.
Lolita says you might own half, but there is also my nina Elisa!…
Carmina remembers the moment Augusto walked toward her and she shot him… gets crazy upset…
Elisa
walks in her mom’s room totally deflated… still bloody white tee..
finds the pic of her mom and Nina on the bed.. wonders how the pic got
there. Lolita brings her a tea. Elisa asks her about how the pic got
there. who would have brought it? my dad? Surely it was him, surely he
was here. If he was here in the house alone, surely it was him, But why?
What was he thinking about? Lolita insists she stop the whaling and
take the tea.
All
this is because of what happened years ago when my mom died. My dad
began deteriorating and his unhappiness and mine originated then. Can’t
believe we suffered for so long and the suffering continues on. Lolita
insists she stop whaling. Elisa continues whining she is all alone now,
don’t even have Dam’s love. Lolita continues reminding her of the folks
she has in her support circle. You are not alone. Elisa says her dad
told her he would have liked to see her marry Dam the last time she
talked with him. Lolita agrees, your dad made many mistakes, but in that
he was right. Dam must know you are not siblings.
At
hacienda, Dam is dreaming, remembering when he was little right after
his dad died, and Alfie yelled that Stefie was to blame for Rosie being
dead, and how she separated Dam and Elisa, telling Dam Stefie was a
murderer, and he should not go near her daughter. He wakes up yelling
‘NOOO!! Elisa is my friend, mother!!’. (oh thank God he yelled that and
not ‘I AM A PATHETIC LOSER!!!’ which would fit him better) Alfie and Flo
are there faster than a witchy nose wink. Alfie wants Flo to stay with
him, Dam insists he is ok and they should go back to bed. Alfie stays
behind… she insists, he nags at her that she continues to treat him as a
child. Alfie acts offended, I was just worried about you. good nite.
Back to cenote. They are sitting still on same spot, hugging, arms tight around each other…
P: Do you regret it?
G: No.. but I don’t want to see that the one that will regret it later is you.
P:
No.. I am sure everything will not change between us. I love you so
much…so much.. I want you to swear that you will never look at another
woman. (he gets sad, stays quiet) why don’t you answer me? You don’t
dare say it, right?...
G:
come here… (he holds her in his arms again… ) I swear it.. I swear from
here on out I won’t think of another woman but you. I swear it. (they
are about to start all over but we see the famous wide skirt… yep its
Ramona watching them kiss, she is sad, and concerned…)
CB1
R:
You are a slut! I would have forgiven anything BUT THIS!.. how can you
be here, when Elisa’s father is layin’ cold who knows where?
G: What are you talking about?
P: speak clearly Grandma, do you mean to say Elisa’s dad is dead?
(Ramona nods to confirm)
G:
‘No puede ser! No puede ser!’ (one of our fav phrases! he takes off
running, Paloma runs after him calling his name, but Ramona pulls her
back by her mane/hair ‘where the hay-ride are YOU going??’)
(Dam,
now fully awake, remembers as kids him and Elisa talking after burying
Rosie and Stefie, Elisa assuring him her mom was not to blame for what
happened, do you believe me? (he nods yes), and them hugging, Gael
approaching them and hugging Elisa, Gael saying he was sorry for their
losses, he does not like to see Elisa cry… Dam telling Gael now I know
how you feel, I just lost my dad for good, Gael saying he never met
his... Elisa asking are they in heaven?... don’t know, maybe… I want to
be with my mom, I miss her… Paloma joining them, telling Elisa that she
misses her mom even though she was very little when she died, still miss
her everyday…)
Dam: Elisa… my Elisa… (he basically whispered this cry, at least he is not breaking anyone’s eardrums)
Elisa
by a tree outside her house… crying a river… remembering Augusto’s last
few words with her about Dam loving her and wanting to see them marry.
Elisa gets on her horse and rides away…
At
Tovar house… Begone-Ya nags at Inmundo for arriving so late… he tells
her was at centro de salud, dealing with Chente’s status. Not in mood to
argue, early tomorrow have a tough surgery. Will go back to the hotel
while your friend Carmina is here… don’t worry, Carmina went back to her
quinta. She had to, they told her her husband was dead. Inmundo
impactado. What happened to Augusto? He killed himself with his shotgun…
[Inmundo impactado even more, probably remembering he had just
confirmed to Augie that Carmina had faked the DNA tests and also
confirming that Carmina’s baby already in the oven before their wedding]
Gab
knocking to II, apparently she kicked him out, he swears the chamaco
(Chente) is not his child… II just gets more confy in bed… lol
Loopy
arrives at quinta, asks Lolita why they didn’t tell him right away…
Lolita says Carmina banned them from telling anyone. Lolita says Carm
did not want anyone to come. Carmina does not want anyone to stand watch
either. They took his body to the station to do the autopsy and Carmina
wants to burry him early tomorrow. Loopy whines about
them burying Augie without even a mass.. In comes Carmina, firmly tells
Loopy Augie was her husband, she decides how things will be, go away,
there is no corpse to watch over here. Loopy says he won’t go without
seeing Elisa. Carmina lies saying Elisa does not want to see anyone.
That Elisa wants to be alone. Loopy insists that at least will give her
his condolences. Carmina firmly says respect others’ pain… leave
already. No-one needs you here. Loopy asks Lolita to let him know when
the burial will
be and loudly declares he will give Augusto his last rites ‘le guste a
quien le guste’. Carmina nags at Lolita about telling Loopy. Lolita says
‘sorry but I will never keep Padre Loopy away.. never!’. (you go
Lolita! Let me buy you a new dress complete with the crocheted colorful
flowers)
Paloma
and Ramona at home, Paloma upset asks Ramona what happened. Ramona not
willing to talk to her about anything. Yells at her on top
of the guilt load she is carrying, she does not want to hear anything
about what Paloma and Gael just did either. Paloma asks what guilt load.
Ramona just yells ‘get out of my sight’. Paloma now upset about that
too… but somehow she knew it would be so.
Elisa
on horse arrives outside Hacienda, yells Damian’s name several times…
runs around upset, keeps yelling her lungs out for him, to no avail. Is
sweating… yelling… crying a river… yelling… (would someone hire her as a
back-up ambulance siren and take her out of her misery? She comes
complete with her own windshield washer and plenty of ww fluid!)
CB 2
At hacienda… Elisa still crying a river… still yelling… she must have elephant size lungs…
Knocks on windows, runs over and back, yells ‘Damian its me Elisa!! Damian, I need you!! Damiaaaan!!’
Inside
the hacienda, Paolo is awake by door, he wants to open the door, Alfie
won’t let him open, Flo is miffed… wants Alfie to tell Elisa to go away.
Alfie says let’s let her scream till she gets tired…
Gael
has run all the way to quinta (background music is odd, sounds like
psycho style thriller theme?), rings the bell anxiously, Lolita confirms
to him it is true.. how did it happen? .. don’t know, the house was
alone, when we got here we found Don Augie dead in his study. (Gael
crying) With the shotgun on floor next to him… Elisa, how his she?... mi
nina is really bad… don’t worry, I will go see her… no don’t go, Dona
Carmina does not want anyone in, she even kicked out the Padrecito… What
do I care what that senora says, I wont leave Elisa alone in this…
Lolita and Gael look for Elisa in her room, they are both surprised
Elisa is not there… Gael will go find her. Lolita comes of Elisa’s room
out after him but has to give explanations to Carmina… ‘Don’t even ask,
it was Gael at door and I let him in. Elisa is not here, Gael went to
find her..’ (the Lolita table is mighty crowded tonight… and so is Padre’s … Gael’s is too)
Elisa
is still yelling for Damian at hacienda… FF>>… I would put duct
tape on her mouth but can’t help but feel sorry for her when I see her
short of breath for crying so long….
Inside
hacienda, they can’t believe she has not left yet.. Flo says Elisa is
capable of yelling all night… (I would not bet against that in Vegas)
Paolo says don’t look at me for messenger, I am tired and I won’t
interfere… Flo asks Alfie what time Dam left… don’t know, I did not
notice when he left…
Dam
has made it on horseback to the quinta… (he and Elisa never crossed
paths so there must be at least two different ways from quinta to and
from the hacienda) Dam is also wearing a white tee, but this one is not
blood-stained… he rings the bell, a bit anxious but not as much as Gael
was. Carmina comes out, he tells her he feels anxious
about Elisa. I know it is late, I felt the drive to come see your niece.
Just tell me if she is ok… she is sleeping and you are wasting your
time if you think I will wake her up (you ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssnake witch)… are you sure she is ok?... yes, now go away… good nite, sorry to bother you…
CB 3
Loopy
gets home, paces around very upset, yells for Gael, but Gael is not
there… From how he looks, Loopy may need Gael more than Elisa needs Dam…
he tries calling the hacienda, but gets a busy signal.
Outside Hacienda, Elisa still yelling for Dam that she needs him…FF>>…
Inside, Alfie yawning (LOL!) …
Outside, Finally Elisa slowly rides away, still looking back. (man, that is a beautiful horse)
Inside,
Flo and Alfie are relieved Elisa FINALLY left (and honestly, we all are
too… Hoover Dam is still standing… but recapper is getting dizzy with
the inside/outside/inside/outside/inside scene snipping) … Flo
wants to wait up for Damian, to find out where he went. Alfie can
imagine where he went, but its too late, let’s wait till morning to talk
to him… go to sleep and don’t make me lose my patience…
Flo leaves in a huff..
(Gael
finally finds Elisa on the way, both still on horseback… I guess he
took the same way Elisa took back home, even though Elisa had taken a
different way to the hacienda, so there is a 50 50 chance Dam is also
somewhere along this path…)
G: (gets off his horse and helps her off hers) I am so sorry… really I am so sorry (sweet hug)....
(of
course we hear more horse steps… wait for it! wait for it! …
Dam-the-Scram comes riding and sees the hug scene… Elisa is still really
upset..(YAWN…) Don’t have to be smarter than a 2nd grader to predict Dam puts an angry face, makes a U-turn and leaves)
Morning
at La Ermita, they are carrying the gasket (Gael, Inmundo, Horacio and
Lucio), with the Castanon ladies and Lolita following, Paloma, Maru and
The Tovars, and only about a dozen other townspeople behind… Gabino is
on horse, asks a woman who died, she tells him Don Augusto C, Gabino
impactado…
At
cemetery, with plenty of flower arrangements (more than the people
there, who paid for them?)… All the good guys are there, including the
employees of the Cielo Abierto/ Green house. Elisa finds comfort in
Lucio’s shoulder… Begone-Ya runs to grab Carmina before she collapses
(no, Begone-Ya! Let her fall! But of course, with our luck she will miss
the hole!), Inmundo looks at them and feels sick to his stomach… Loopy
looks up to the heavens… Elisa can’t watch as they put the dirt on the
gasket after lowering it.
A few yards away, Ramona is watching, she is upset too.
CB 4
At
quinta, Gabino has arrived knowing no-one is home… he forces the door
with a tool, gets in the studio, looks for some papers (‘where is the
contrato, caray?’ surely looking for the papers Augusto was to sign to
sell him Cielo Abierto). Found them, from the face he puts in when he
sees some papers…
At
hacienda, Dam arrives at breakfast table and Flo questions him where he
was so late last night… could not sleep and went riding. Is this going
to turn into the 20 questions game?... it’s not such a big deal (nah,
his sister’s dad just killed himself and he happens to be in incestuous
love with his own sister, but nothing to write home about, right?),
don’t put a frown face, I don’t like it when we are fighting… I don’t
like it either but you should admit that lately you make a big deal of
spilled milk… you are right, but understand me, after all we’ve been
through, I am not so sure of anything… don’t know why, we will get
married in a few weeks, no?... just what I need to feel finally at
peace, to feel we are man and wife… me too, it is what I need.
(Paolo
comes and joins in) Hey Dam! Did you know Elisa came looking late for
you?... Elisa was here?... Yes, Elisa came yelling your name for the
longest time, she was desperate and woke everyone up… Dam mad at Flo for
not telling him… P: Surely it is for the tragedy she is living… what
are you talking about? What tragedy?... Haven’t you heard? Everyone is
at Don Augusto’s burial… what are you saying? … That Elisa’s dad died…
(Dam runs out just like Gael did). Flo mad at Paolo, then asks him about
the Sabrina trip plan. Paolo says it got delayed by Don Augie’s burial,
but he will pick Sabrina up in an hour.
CB 5
At
church, Loopy and Gael (a.k.a. private investigators) are having late
merienda coffee/bread… ‘ay mijito, these things wear you out, even more
when it is someone so close to you like Augie was to us’… Don’t know why
did this had to happen now? Don Augie was a tormented soul (not sure I
could have put it better, Gael, but you are a bit too nice to Augie, I
think) but lately he was in better spirits, he was even happy because
after so long he was beginning to get along with his daughter… you are
right, Gael, only God knows what was in his mind to push him to do what
he did… no, no. It is still not lining up for me, according to what
Lolita said to me, she saw Don Augie before dark, then he even sent
Lolita to get Elisa. But when they arrived, they found him dead… then it
is clear that it happened between the time Dolores left and came back
with Elisa … IIIIIIIII don’t
know, padre… why do you doubt it? you yourself just told me what
happened before and after his death… yeah but let me explain, before
dark I went to Elisa’s house, when I got there it was dark, and rang the
bell but no-one answered… maybe by then it had already happened…
honestly I doubt it, because when I got there his truck was leaving. ..
you know who was in it?... yes, it was Horacio driving and Carmina was
with him, and that means Carmina must have seen Don Augie still alive.
(he does not get it to line up so he gets flustered and stands up) But
why do we keep talking about it? the only thing clear is that Don Augie
is no longer with us. (and is that good or bad in your view, Gael?) have
to go take a shower, have to go to Cielo Abierto and the green house,
now more than ever I need to keep those fields up and going.
At
cemetery, Dam runs to Augie’s grave and is late.. excuse me, did they
just burry Don AC? .. yes… ‘no puede ser!’ (there it is again, did
anyone yell BINGO!??)… at least you got here, because there were very
few folks in the burial, only a few people… (Dam remembers the last
conversation he had with Augie, about how Augie told him ‘ I remember
you as a kid, now you are a man, I respect and admire and take my hat
off for you. and I have to recognize that as an old man I still have
much to learn from you. I am not your dad, but from here on, I want to
see you as a son.’ (they shook hands) Dam crying…)
Horacio
arrives at the butcher shop to open for business, Loopy arrives there.
Horacio surprised. Horacio makes small talk with him about the burial..
don’t worry padre, I will take care of Lolita and Elisa. … Loopy cuts
his talk off, I know what you did, not precisely last night, I know the
sin you are carrying, the only thing I regret is not knowing it in time
to stop your marrying her. Such a great sacrificial woman does not
deserve a husband like you. But don’t worry boy, what I know I know
under confession vow so that is the only thing that saves you, even if
you don’t deserve it. But I’m not here tot talk about your sins, but
about Augusto’s death…
Previews for friday:
Friday:
Flo and Alfie talk about Elisa still a threat… they count on Dam keep
believing they are sibs, but Loopy tells Dam the truth… Dam impactado…
then Dam goes to find Elisa…Labels: abismo

Por ella soy Eva #3 7/18/12
We open with a little recap of Juan Carlos doing some heavy foreshadowing... "Me? See the world from a woman's point of view? What is she smoking?"
Helena goes to her kid's school to console him. The other kids have been teasing him about his absentee father, and he got roughed up a bit. A triple scratch on his cheek makes it look like maybe a squirrel attacked him. What kind of school is he attending?
Anyway, she brings him to the friends-house-cum-travel-agency. She tells the him that grandpa can't know about about the business (because she payed for it by taking out a mortgage on his house without his knowledge).
Plutarco's bimbo gets his car in a fender-bender. He is quite displeased by what she had described as some lil rasguncitos (smashed-in-headlights), but all is mostly smoothed over by plans of a jacuzzi "business meeting" for the two of them when he gets a call from his wife the whale who is feeling fatal and must see him immediately. Wuh-woh! But when he gets there he finds that she's not literally dying. He looks momentarily disappointed before he remembers that she's his link to 40% of grupo imperial. A
pparently her malaise was not physical. She was waiting for him and he was late. It's about their relationship - he's never there and she wants divorce. This time he remembers the shares immediately, and falls to his knees begging for another chance to show her romance.
Helena does her own share of foreshadowing, joking with her friend about what she'll do when her "hombre ideal" shows up. Cue Juan, who bursts into the agency for his meet cute. He's dressed absurdly, with a little kerchief about his neck and a silly shirt. He clonks heads with Helena about 3 times, she drops her stuff, their eyes meet, the whole deal! She wonders who he is. Him: "Yo soy Juan........ uh........ PERON [emphasis mine]...... de Argentina"[!!!!!!!!!!!!!!] I laugh out loud. I was surprised that my mom didn't recognize the name (Juan Peron, immensely popular, immensely devastating beloved/hated populist autocratic president of Argentina off-and-on for several decades with an exile before the third term), but it's a real crackup. And his fake accent really made me giggle. He claims to be representing a bus of tourists arriving to D.F. in an hour and desperately in need of a tour guide. She says she's a bit rusty but agrees to give it a go.
Somehow, he came up with a bus full of people for her to guide. Maybe it was just some random tour bus. They give the tour together, are super cute, and even dance up top of the double-decker bus! We see many sights, but where's the tower they always include in every telenovela shot of Mexico city? They get off.
He praises her tour guiding talents and tries to find out about her beach development project. He will continue his investigations when he takes her out to a fancy dinner tonight, ostensibly to discuss her leading more buses. I love the way he's stumbling at trying to figure out the "vos" form in his fake Argentinian accent.
Then Juan discusses the situation with his bud, who sees her as just another one of Juan's dames and wants to know if she's plebian, cortesana, o marquesa (some kind of chauvinist/bro-vinist classification spectrum).
At dinner, Juan is smitten by Helena, though she looks kinda like she did this afternoon. He falls all over her. "I don't drink," she says, but his plan was to get her drink, so uh-oh. I love watching him squirm when she gripes about that bastard Juan at grupo imperial who trashed her project and fired her for being a woman.
Plutarco's makeup romantic dinner, to which he conveniently accidentally invites his boss (so he can puppet-master his wife into asking her brother for some shares for Plutarco). He pushes the unhealthy stuff on his wife - she'll have the ribs AND the shrimp fountain! A shrewd boss (Adrian?) won't talk business, and frowns at Plutarco as the beloved whale (man, the fat jokes are getting old quick) smears her face with rib sauce.
Juan Peron wants to dance. Isn't it funny that he will change his identity into Eva from Juan Peron? Just as Eva Peron (remember Evita) picked up the populist mantle from her dead husband? As they dance Juan grabs her butt and tries his line, but she slaps him and storms out. But before making it to the door she sees Plutarco at his table and flips out (remember, she got the identities mixed up, because Plutarco was the only executive upstairs when she led her woman-revolution up there for the attack.
Juan tries to defuse her. He says HE will talk to them, and hauls her back to the table to try and fix everything. Awesome cliffhanger!
Then the avances show us nothing new - more like a preview of what they'll show in the in the recap tomorrow at 8:00 PM. Tune in!

Abismo de pasión, #90 7/17/12: Of orange killers and blue houses and black widows, of damaged kidneys and broken hearts.
The old:
Bumble accompanies the Killer Orange back to the quinta.
At Casa bien Castigada, Elisa, still stained with Augusto’s blood, wails. Really loudly. [Mr. Maven hollers from the next room to turn down the volume but I can’t because then I can’t make out the mumblers and the low talkers. A door shuts noisily in the Maven house.]
Horacio recites Carmina’s alibi, as ordered. Lucio restrains Carmina. The draped body is removed on a stretcher. When Lucio says that an autopsy will be done, Carmina howls in protest: “Criminy! He killed himself with a shotgun! Why can’t they leave him in peace!”
Say what? Who said anything about a shotgun?
The new:
Elisa’s pathetic Nancy Drew (You just got here! How did you know about the
escopeta?) is no match for Carmina’s mad improv skills. The shotgun? It was sitting out in the open, fully loaded, when she and Horacio left, right H? Even Dolores has to admit she saw the weapon. Oh woe! If the Orange Widow had known what Augusto was going to do, she’d never have left the damn quinta!
Alone in her room, the Rotten Citrus blubbers:
¡Tuve que hacerlo! (I had to do it!)
Hacienda Harango: Alfonsina tells Gabino about Chente’s accident. No skin off his nose. Wow. Cold, dude. Even Alfabitch shakes her head. Later, however, Gabino rides over to the Health Center. He lurks briefly but doesn’t enter.
Centro de Salud: Toña weeps over the ashen-faced Chente. She and Braulio are being tested for compatibility as kidney donors. (I’m betting neither is a match for the crucial filthybandanahandwrap factor.) Doc Tovar has scheduled the transplant first thing tomorrow. Medicine moves lightning-fast in La Ermita.
Wait ... Chente speaks. He’s calling for his dad. Awww. Braulio is touched. Until Chente says “Tell Gabino to come, mamá, I need him here.” Oh, THAT dad. Braulio storms out, undeterred by Toña’s pathetic protests.
Hacienda Harango: Paolo won’t take the blame for Chente’s accident. And if Alfie is sick of him, the feeling is mutual. After Flor’s wedding, he’s history.
Maru stops by the hacienda looking for Dam. Since he’s still out squabbling with Flor, she has to settle for leaving word of Augusto’s death with Alfie. Oh yes, Alfie will be sure to tell him.
When Maru leaves, Alfie, stunned as she may be, has the presence of mind to tuck this metaphorical amulet in her metaphorical bra. No way Dam is getting that message tonight. When he and Flor get back home, Alfie’s hands are sweating but her botox mask is more inscrutable than ever. As soon as Dam walks toward his bedroom, Alfie shuts off the house phone. Yes, she’s a bitch. But as our Cap'n has noted, she’s magnificent.
At Casa bien castigada, the decibel level is still unbearable. Dolores and Lucio soldier on. Elisa finally asks to be alone. She wanders into the study and picks up the phone, dials, and gets a busy signal. “
Ay Damián, te necesito.”
You think you’ve got problems?
Braulio arrives to find Horacio comforting Dolores. Dolores asks innocently: “How’s your son?” “My son” Braulio echoes bitterly. He’s not in good shape. But Braulio’s there for another reason. “You mean about what happened with don Augusto?” That’s the
third shock of the night for Braulio but that’s not why he’s there either. Horacio knows Gabino, right? Where does he live?
Now it’s Dolores who tries to phone Damían for Elisa. No luck. What about calling Padre Lupe and Gael? “Go ahead, they have to be told.”
Meanwhile poor Lucio has to shlep Carmina’s heavy suitcases back to her bedroom and then broach the delicate subject of funeral arrangements. There won’t be a wake, she declares. Let’s just get that sucker in the ground. And not next to my sister, either. He’ll be next to MY SON. “I think you should ask Elisa what she thinks” suggests Lucio mildly. “She...” begins Carmina, “is in no condition to make any decisions.” “But Carmina”, protests Lucio. And the Killer Orange thunders loudly: “Absolutely not! I don’t want him next to my sister!”
Back at Hacienda Harango, Flor follows Dam into his bedroom, and half-heartedly follows her seduction script. He boots her out saying he doesn’t want Mommy Dearest walking in on them again. It’ll have to wait until they’re married.
Will there be Passion in the Pit tonight?
It begins innocently enough. Gael comes looking for Paloma because he feels bad about the way they left things between them. They’d better walk to the other side of the cenote so Ramona doesn’t see Gael. She’s pretty mad at him right now.
Casa Tovar
Bumble comes home to find Enrique and Sabrina in a shouting match mostly about Paolo. They are silenced by the sober look on their mother’s face. “Where’s your father?” she asks. “Something really tragic happened.”
It will be a while before the news reaches Doc. He was on his way home, he really was, but on an impulse, he turned around and drove to Mérida. Too late, though. Curls had gotten tired of waiting for him and had left the restaurant more than an hour before. (Trust me, Edmundo. You don’t know how lucky you are.)
The Blue House of Shame
Gabino lounges. He’s grouchy and suspicious and maybe feeling prickles in that teeny-weeny vestigial conscience-like thing of his. When Curls gets home, he tells her that a boy who works in the Pro Ce had an accident.
Ramona’s choza
Enrique is looking for Paloma. When Ramona tells him she’s not home, he reassures her – she probably went to Elisa’s when she heard the news about Augusto. The news? Oh, Ramona didn’t know? “
Parece que se dio un escopetazo.” (It seems he blasted himself with a shotgun). Ramona is absolutely stricken. Enrique is frightened by her reaction to the news and wants to help her but she sends him away.
This is a singularly unpleasant scene.
Flor’s room in the hacienda
An Alfie invasion. How can Flor expect to get knocked up if she sleeps alone? Flor explains tartly that “
Damián se puso pudoroso” (he became modest, or ‘chaste’) after Mommy Dearest walked in on them. And why is Alfie pushing so hard anyway? Isn’t Elisa safely out of the picture? “
Hazme caso” (listen to me, sweet cheeks), “when you’re married and carrying his baby in your belly, then you can loosen your bandage dress.” (Well, that’s a rather loose translation.)
This scene is just evil. We can deal.
Elisa’s bedroom in the
casa demasiado castigada
Elisa stares at her reflection in the mirror. The Killer Orange approaches. She is wearing black and affecting the grieving widow. She knows Augusto had many problems and didn’t deal well with emotional stress but it was Kenia that drove him to this. He couldn’t live with the guilty knowledge that a 17 year old girl had drowned herself because of him.
Yeah, yeah, Elisa knows all that, but she knows how much grief the aunt brought him.
With desultory cruelty, the homicidal Orange announces: “
No va a haber velorio. No pienso seguir prolongando ese sufrimiento.” Having deposited her poison, she leaves. Elisa collapses, desolate and teary, on her bed.
Here is the most unpleasant scene of the night.
Damián’s bedroom in the hacienda
Alfie brings her boy a bedtime snack, apples and milk, and tells him to go boink Florencia. She dismisses Damián’s gut feeling that there is something very wrong going on (besides his mother invading his bedroom and attempting to orchestrate his sex life, that is).
In the Centro de Salud
Toña weeps over Chente’s bed and prays that he won’t be punished for her sins.
Here is the best scene of the night. No kidding.
On the outskirts of town, Horacio leads Braulio to the Blue House of Shame. (Just don’t say I told you, okay?) Braulio enters and, after expressing mild surprise at seeing Curls there, walks up to Gabino and begins to beat the crap out of him. (We have to get as much pleasure as we can out of this tonight because tomorrow, Irritating Curls is probably going to conk Braulio on the head or Gabino will pull a knife or something. Carpe diem, folks.)
The second best scene of the night.
Paloma keeps blathering about Elisa. She’s not woman enough for Gael and he’ll never feel for her what he feels for Elisa, she says. Gael shushes her. “Any man would feel proud to have a woman like you at his side.” He moves in very close. “You think I don’t feel anything when I kiss you, when I caress you ...” They move in for the smooch. The music swells in the background...
Scriiiiitch. The scene changes abruptly. Ramona interrupts Padre’s prayers with a startling declaration: “It was my fault! I provoked it! I killed him!”
Avances: In the dead of night, Elisa seeks out Damián at Hacienda Harango; Damián mounts his white steed and goes forth looking for Elisa. Let’s hope they manage to connect.

Por ella soy Eva #2 7/17/12: Everybody Yells at Juan Carlos
Rebeca cheerfully explains to Helena: you're getting dumped as part of the new austerity plans. You're always wanting special consideration because you're a single mother. Helena asks to get her project back, Rebeca denies having it. It turns out all the fired employees are women - either old, or single mothers.
JC and his buddies are striking out: a
ll the projects he and his sidekicks review are lousy. He even goes to bed with the somewhat middle-aged Victoria Infante in hopes she has some ideas for him. He calls her his countess; she knows about his fiasco...
... and she tells him Playa Majagua is the next big thing, there will be tax breaks etc, but he better hurry, the window of opportunity is closing. He leaves her to make her own sandwich while he goes off...
... to trawl through the trash - he finds Helena's precious project soaked with ikkiness and her dvd is broken.
Meanwhile, Helena remembers the Canadian guy and calls him... he takes her to lunch and says he'll do business with her if she'll open a travel agency -- he as a foreigner needs a local legal entity. He makes her promise not to accept an offer from anybody else, especially G.I. and they sign an agreement.
Helena drags her fired butt home. In private she tells her mom she's been fired ("don't tell your father") and that she needs 200,000 pesos to start a travel agency. The mom takes out a mortgage on the family home the next day. The cranky dad tells her son Lalo: "Your dad was an irresponsible coward, he ran away, he never wanted you." BUMMER. Later Lalo tells his mom it was his fault the dad left. "You think my dad loves me?" "I think he's losing the chance to see a wonderful boy grow up."
Meanwhile JC gets the list of fired employees from Rebeca (while staring down her cleavage). "You're not thinking of re-hiring them?" she asks like a proper villainess. She gives him pills good for gastritis. JC finds Helena's number and calls her. He's suave, but she's furious: "I'm not setting foot in that business. You didn't have time for me, now it's too late." She hangs up on him. He tells his buddies: "They get their period, that's why I hate doing biz with women!"
He goes and fakes it with his boss, airily describing chains of hotels, restaurants, spas, all with the G.I. logo on them. "Like the Caribbean or the Mediterranean." Plutarco whispers in his brother-in-law's ear that it's all a bad idea. The brother-in-law (boss of both of them) says he won't put his own money into it. JC says he'll get private investment. Adriano says if it goes well, JC will get a chunk of the business.
Plutarco is indignant: "I am your brother-in-law and you never offered shares to me." "You're married to my sister, she has shares. And JC has never failed me - except that once." Plutarco goes to whine to Rebeca his girlfriend (the same one whose cleavage JC was ogling). They have an argument; she threatens: "Fire me and I'll tell the whale [his wife] we're lovers."
At home Plutarco's wife again tries to give him a massage and again he spurns her. Turns out she owns 40% of the company shares.
With the money from the bank, Helena and her friend fix up the friend's place to be the new travel agency, which they call Viajes Moreno. The Canadians come through (the subtitles amusingly call them the Alberta Trouble Company but it's really the Alberta Travel Company).
JC's buddies report that at the beach, they have no local buy-in - the locals only want to do business with Helena! JC says no woman can do as well as men. Plutarco calls the three of them "Hugo Paco and Luis," better known to us as Walt Disney's trio of baby ducks, Huey Dewey and Louis. Plutarco has come round with a huge empty box; he says that because of the austerity program they have to turn in their cell phones. JC says this is sabotaging him! Plutarco says people did without cellphones for centuries, consider the Aztecs!
Adriano steps up the pressure for a quick solution - he wants a formal report on the Playa project immediately. Plutarco is listening.
Rebeca wants a chauffeur but she is refused (austerity). She goes and yells at Plutarco. Unsympathetic, he suggests she take a taxi or walk. Or there's a microbus. She rubs up against him until he gives her his car keys.
JC realizes Rebeca knows something about the Playa project, runs after her, offers to join forces with her, they end up in bed. He says afterwards, "I never take this sort of 'meeting' with women I work with." "Then I'm special." As a reward, she tells him: "I have contacts - and I know that Trouble company has the project underway."
There's some problem at Lalo's school so Helena runs out of the travel agency.
Hewey tells Dewey he's found out about the Alberta Trouble/Travel Company having an alliance with Helena's Viajes Moreno. "And she's an employee you FIRED." Rebeca comes in to hear JC whispering about her: "The woman I'm here with is nothing special, she's a courtesan by vocation, I'm doing her a favor." She yells: "You pig! Some day you should feel what I feel, be in my shoes!" "Ridiculous woman, you think such a thing could happen?"
Tomorrow: he greases his hair back and goes with a false identity to hit up Helena.

Refugio Para el Amor #73 Tue 7/17/12 The Truth According to Rosa; Pato Gains Ground on Rod in the Pool
Luciana has just shown the infamous magazine to Paz and
Magda, who are flipping through the pages in disbelief.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Estella gets ready to join Marianita
in bed. Marianita cradles her magic wand and wishes with all her heart for her
mother to return and to return well. But if it’s dangerous for her to return, then
Marianita prefers that her mom remains in the States, and she’ll go find her
when she’s older.
Luci spills everything about the surprise attack by the
Blonde B/Witches and how she couldn’t defend herself. Magda and Paz are just as
upset as Luci to hear how it all went down. “My God, what cruelty (saña)
against my daughter.” Luci mentions that they even brought Aquiles from the
pueblo to be part of the attack. This really ticks off Magda. Paz asks if
Aquiles was there that day. Luci tells them how he came to the apartment to
find her, but nothing happened. He left after she told him to leave her in
peace. Magda can’t believe people could be so evil. Luci really starts to lose
it. Ever since she met Gala and Julie, they have done nothing but make her life
hell, just because she isn’t from their class. Paz wants to go tell those women
off. “Take me there Luciana! Take me! I’m going to put them in their place!”
Luci doesn’t see the reason to. Those women are so stupid that they don’t
understand that it’s what inside that counts, not what you have. They are heartless and soulless. Paz can’t
believe she wasn’t there with Luci in these tough moments. Luci tries to calm
her down. Everything is over now, and it wasn’t all bad. She also met great
people like Lic. Linares, who’s been like and angel for her. Paz’s eyes shoot
wide open again. She and Magda give each other the look.
Boris and Hannah are video chatting via their IPads about some
math she’s having trouble with. They agree to meet early (6 am!) before classes
so that he can help her. Melissa is spending the night in Hannah’s room and is
busily working on her thesis. Max comes in to check on the girls. He wants to
know how Melissa’s thesis is going, with Claudio. He manages to sound only a
little menacing. Melissa is all happy smiles about Claudio. Max tells her not
to trust Claudio, but Melissa just doesn’t buy it. “El Lic. is a brilliant man,
professional and transparent.” Max says he hopes she’s not mistaken. He’s never
doubted that she’s intelligent and hard working- the characteristics of success
( éxito).
Hannah jumps in and says she has all of those characteristics of success too,
except she’s not as disciplined as Melissa. Max chuckles and tells the girls
not to stay up (desvelar) too late, and leaves. Hannah goes back to her
conversation with Boris, just as Melissa’s phone rings. It’s Aldo with news
that Lorenzo is out of jail. Both girls squeal in delight, and Hannah
completely forgets Boris is there. Looks like his patience for Hannah’s
preoccupation with Lorenzo is wearing thin. “You’re really happy, right?”
Hannah picks up on his annoyance and tries to change the subject back to math,
but Boris now has a bad case of the green eyed monster.
Of all the bars in Mexico City, Gabriel and Marcos have to
bring Rod to the one where Gala and her crew are celebrating HIS divorce.
G&M are happy to run into their girlfriends Valentina and Fernanda and
immediately leave with them for the dance floor. Rod is left to sulk at the
bar, with Gala waiting to pounce on her prey. She makes the first move by
asking across the bar how he is. He gruffly says he’s here. She approaches and
says she heard about his divorce. “That’s how you planned it, right? You, Julie
and my mother. Congratulations Gala. You got what you wished for.” Gala acts like the offended party that he
would expect the worst of her. She says they shouldn’t continue the conversation
because she doesn’t want to fight. “It’s better that I leave, and you continue
to celebrate whatever it is you need to celebrate.” She calls for her posse to bounce. G&M
walk the ladies out. Rod can’t believe he was supposed to be marrying Luci in
just a few days.
Luci has fallen asleep sitting up in the couch. Paz looks at
her daughter and says to Magda that she was supposed to be marrying Rod in two
days. “Poor thing. How much she’s suffered. How they have mistreated her Magda.
And look at her. With all of that, still studying and trying to get ahead.”
Magda points out that Luci has always been a fighter since she was little. Paz
doesn’t think she can scold Luci for keeping quiet about things, when she
herself has been doing the same thing by not telling her the truth about her
origins. Magda says that Paz had to keep quiet because she gave her word/made a
promise (juramento). Paz thinks she and Luci have kept their secrets for the
same reason. Because of fear. The same fear she feels right now when she thinks
of telling Luci the truth. Magda thinks she can’t keep quiet for much longer.
Paz says she’s right. Keeping quiet would make her just as bad as Rosa. Luci
has the right to know. “Tell her Paz. Tell her now. God knows why we were sent
here.” “Yes. I can no longer continue to
keep quiet. My silence has ended.”
More angry workouts from Rod. He flings his water bottle
across the room. (Dude, try yoga! Your hair does look better today though.)
The next day, Luci studies for her exam, but visions of
Rod’s face break her concentration. Ariche runs in to say there’s a man
downstairs looking for her. She leans over the rails and sees…Patricio! He is
pleased that she actually called him by his name instead of Joven. She is
thrilled to see him and runs down the stairs with Ariche.
In Het Het, Procopio is taking his new job very seriously
and in the midst of counting candles. Luchita comes for a visit, and he brags
about all their funerary services, including flower arrangements and wreaths of
all kinds of exotic flowers. Luchita has really come to try to steal him to
help manage her clothing stalls. She’s diversifying and opening another stall
with cheap Chinese made products, like hair accessories and such. Copio thanks
her, but he’s already made a commitment to Don Serapio. He offers her use of
the phone.
In the apartment courtyard, Luci happily greets Pato. She’s glad
to see that he feels and is doing better. “Luci, if I came here today, it’s to
tell you that what happened between you and my brother has nothing to do with
our friendship. Please. Don’t distance yourself (alejarse) from me because of
your divorce.” Luci tells him that won’t happen. She has deep affection and
admiration for him. He tells her how good it is to hear that, then invites her
to accompany him to his first hydrotherapy session that morning. She’s always been important for his
recuperation. She agrees, but needs to tell her mom first. Pato would love to
meet her mom, but has no time now. Luci promises to pass on his greetings.
Ariche stays with Pato while Luci runs upstairs. They remember each other from
Het Het, before Pato had his accident. Ariche wants to know what happened;
why’s he in a wheelchair now? Pato explains he had an accident and how the
chair moves without anyone pushing it. Ariche is impressed and wants a ride. He
hops on and zips through the courtyard with Pato. Ariche even takes a turn
maneuvering the wheelchair controls. Inside Estella’s place, Paz is not pleased
to hear Luci is going out to hang with a Torreslanda, but must grudgingly give
her permission.
Rod is continuing to vent his pent up emotions by resuming
riding his motorcycle to work. Must be nice to have someone waiting at the door
with a freshly pressed suit for you. Once inside his office, he calls the big
house asking for Pato and finds out from Mati that he’s already left for his
first hydrotherapy session. Rod had wanted to accompany him, so he’ll catch up
to him. Mati tries to give Rod her condolences about the end of his marriage to
Luci, but Hot Head Rod nearly rips her head off and says he doesn’t want to
talk about Luci. He doesn’t even want to hear her name. Jerk!
Now that the older ladies have been left alone, Paz can let
loose about how p*ssed off she is about the whole Rosa situation. Her daughter
shouldn’t have to put up with so much suffering. And she regrets not having
told Claudio that Luci is his daughter. “I’m Luci’s mother, and I will put Rosa
in her place! The moment has come to confront her. To tell the whole world who
that woman really is!”
Luci and Pato’s therapist Jorge watch as he works in the
pool with the hydrotherapist. Pato points out that once again Luci is there for
an important milestone in his life. He thanks her.
Magda is ready to roll as part of Paz’s posse, but then she
wonders if Rosa will even still know who she is. Estella informs them that Rosa
remembers perfectly well who Paz is, and got the information out of her during
an interrogation. Then Rosa fainted and they had to take her to the hospital.
At the high school, Hannah is apologizing to Boris because
she forgot her flash drive with info for her part of their group presentation
with Lula. It’s obvious that he’s upset about more than the presentation. Boris
takes her home to get the flash drive.
Connie gingerly approaches Rosa as she pours herself some
tea, and notes that Rosa has seemed much better these last few days, than the
last many weeks and months. She’s been worried about her. Rosa apologizes for
all the bad moments over the last months, and thanks her for always being at
her side. “Come what may (pase lo que pase), you are my sister. And I love you.
I love you a lot. And I’ll always be by your side.” (Oh Connie. Rosa is so not worth
that kind of dedication.) Rosa asks her to help her recover Rod’s love and
respect. He was so rude (grosero) to her when she made that toast yesterday.
(You know, the toast to his DIVORCE from the woman he loves.) Connie says that
Rosa has to understand that he’s really hurting. Stepford Wife Rosa pours her
tea and says that Rod will thank her eventually and see that everything she’s
done is for his good. Connie hasn’t yet learned that you can’t reason with a
crazy person (or a Pod Person) and tries to make Rosa see that she can’t
control and dominate Rod. Rosa begs for Connie’s help with Rod again. Connie
says she will always help Rosa, but she's worried about her. She’s not herself.
Sometimes, she doesn’t even know who Rosa is. (BINGO! Because she’s a Stepford
Pod Person!) Rosa gets all wide eyed and creepy. Whatever do you mean? You know
me. I’m your sister. You surprise me Connie.
C: I don’t know you completely. You went to see Claudio
Linares and you haven’t told me what you said to him.
R: I told him the truth.
C: What truth Rosalena?!
R: The TRUTH. Only the truth Connie.
C: There is only one *truth* Rosalena! And if you had told him, Claudio would
be here, incriminating you for giving away his daughter when she was a baby.
R: What are you saying to me? I’m not Claudio Linares. Each person reacts
differently. If Claudio has remained so tranquil after I told him the truth,
then what do you expect me to do?
Connie grabs her and tries to shake the real truth out of
her.
C: What did you tell Claudio Linares?!!
R: (Smiling and looking at Connie like she’s the crazy one.) Connie, I just
asked you for some advice about my son Rodrigo. I didn’t want to speak about
Claudio Linares. Ay, sister. At times you are so strange.
Rosa walks out of the room, as cool as a cucumber, and
Connie shakes her head in frustration.
Claudio meets with Barrera and Norma. They look at his
supposed signature on the fraud documents and his real signature. A side by
side comparison shows that they are very similar, but not the same. Norma thinks
they can prove he was not in Germany on those dates by getting old credit card
info and travel docs to show he was in another country at the time. Claudio is
sure that very soon it will be Max behind bars (las rejas).
Paz wants to just go find Rosa already, but Magda wants to
make sure they know where they are going first. Estella knows perfectly well
where the Torreslanda house is, so she will go with them.
On the corner, Ariche, Fabian, and Lorenzo are enjoying some
street vendor tacos. Aldo walks up and joins them. Lorenzo tells Aldo that he
and Fabian are still looking for work. In typical Aldo style, he offers to
invest in any business that Fabian and Lorenzo think up. Ariche suggests that
they sell tacos, since everybody loves tacos! Aldo thinks it’s a good idea. The
kid has imagination. Aldo decides to make Ariche one of their partners. Ariche
calls Aldo a mushashon loco. (Out of the mouth of babes.)
Padre Honesto is being driven to once again speak to his
superiors about his special case—Rosalena Torreslanda. This time he’s seeing
the Bishop about Rosa’s blasphemous “confession” about desecrating the graves
and lying to Claudio about the remains of his wife and child. Never in all his
years as a priest has he heard such a thing! The Bishop agrees that this is an
extraordinary act that would shock anyone. But their duty (deber) as priests is
to counsel precisely this kind of tortured soul. Padre Honesto wants his advice
as his spiritual guide. The Bishop doesn’t seem to quite know what to advise
him.
Paz, Magda and Estella arrive at the big house. Paz is
amazed. The Torreslanda’s did not live in such a big, luxurious (lujo) house
when she and Galdino were their gardeners. Max must have done well for himself
over the years. Paz wonders if they’ll let them in. As they discuss this,
Hannah runs out, greets Estella, and tells the guard to let them in.
Luci chats happily with Pato by the pool as his therapy
continues. Rod walks in behind Luci, says good afternoon, and initiates a stare
down.
Frigida is unfortunately the first person that Paz and her
crew encounter at the front entrance. She laughs at them when they say they
want to speak to Señora Torreslanda. Mati comes out of the house and is
shocked to find Paz there. Both she and Frigida seem very aware that the crap
is going to hit the fan with Luci’s mama come to find Rosa. Mati tells her that
Rosa isn’t there right now. Too bad, because Paz doesn’t intend to leave until
she speaks with Rosa about her daughter Luci. Estella takes Magda to the kitchen
(via the servants’ entrance), while Mati takes Paz off to her room to talk.
Rosa comes to Padre Honesto’s office, but luckily he’s away
seeing the Bishop. She orders the altar boy that’s in the office to tell the
Padre she needs to see him, ASAP.
In her room, Mati tells Paz that she knew this day would
come one day. Before she goes further, she walks over to her door, yanks it
open, and Frigida nearly falls in, ear first. “Brigida, did you lose something?
Come on in so that you can hear better.” Frigida says it’s not her style to
look for gossip. (Give me a fricking break!) Mati shoos her off, then turns the
radio on and puts it right up to the door.
Rod and Luci walk Pato out of the hydrotherapy center. Pato
explains how he picked up Luci because it was important to him that she be at
the first session. Luci says she’ll be at as many of them as Pato wants. Rod
asks how Pato feels. He’s super tired from the session, but he feels good. Rod
wants to drop him off at home, but Pato wants to drop Luci back home first.
Luci tries to say she’ll find her way home alone, but Pato insists. She leans
down and thanks him for letting her be part of something so important to him.
He thanks her. They smile at each other. Rod scowls. Rod offers to take Luci
home. She refuses, then slips away as he’s signing some medical papers for
Pato.
Paz tells Mati that it was never her intention to return.
But does she know how she felt last night when her daughter told her how Rosa
has treated her? How she manipulated her son in order to separate them, making her out
to be a slut. How she broke her Luci's heart separating her from the man she
loves.
M: What can I tell you Paz? What’s done is done.
Destiny, sooner or later, puts everything in its place.
P: That’s why I came Matilde. To tell the truth! To put Señora
Rosalena in her place!
M: (Shaking her head.) Mi niña, Rosalena. (Oh, how I want to slap
Mati each time she says that!)
P: Yes, Matilde. If your patrona hadn’t seen fit to tear my Luciana to pieces,
I wouldn’t be here. But I’m not going to
allow her to keep harming her!
The Ice Queen is at the moment in her chariot, and has
called Gala. She needs to speak to Gala urgently.
Rod returns to the office and gives Gabriel the update on
Pato’s therapy. He then says he saw Luci at Pato’s therapy. “And?” “Nothing.” The only thing Rod discovered is that he doesn’t want to see her anymore. Jerk! He
feels like an idiot (so true) and vulnerable when he’s near her. Gabriel says
there is always an opportunity to correct a mistake. This is Rod’s opportunity.
Max walks in and asks how Rod is. Rod says he’s fine, but Max isn’t buying it.
“In less than a month you got married and then got divorced. I want you to know
that I don’t want to know how you got to this point. You are what’s important
to me. I just want to know that you’re well.” Rod once again says he’s fine.
Max invites him out to eat, Rod’s treat.
Luci returns to Vio’s and asks where her mom is. Vio says
she went out with Magda and Estella. (If only they knew where.) Luci is just
about to tell Vio about running into Rod when there’s a knock at the door. It’s
the male version of cling-wrap, Marcial, wanting to “explain” the fact that
he’s married with kids for the umpteenth time. Vio doesn’t want to hear it. Luci
decides to leave them alone and heads to Estella’s. Vio explains to Marcial
that she’s no one’s sloppy seconds (plato de segunda mesa). “I love you
Violeta, and I know that you also love me.” “Let me go! Leave me in peace!”
(Sueltame! Dejame en paz!) She’s already got enough problems with her mama
there. She doesn’t need another. He asks, how can he leave her in peace when he
loves her?
Magda and Estella chat in the kitchen. Estella hopes that
speaking with Mati will help calm Paz down a bit before she speaks with Rosa,
because with the way Rosa is, things could get really ugly. Magda is surprised
to hear how scary Rosa can be. Although it shouldn’t surprise her given that
the woman was able to just give away a newborn baby.
Meanwhile, in Mati’s room, the pre-confrontation
conversation continues.
P: Tell me Mati, La Señora Rosa knew exactly who my Luciana is, right?
M: Yes Paz. Yes she knew. She found out a little while ago.
P: And even so, she had the cynicism to treat her as she did? That woman is a
demon disguised (disfrazado) as an angel!
M: No Paz. What it is, is that she has a great fear that if the truth is
discovered her family would judge her for what she’s done. (I don’t see how
this negates what Paz said. Can I slap Mati now?)
P: That is an absurd justification! Cowardice! Wicked/Despicable! (Canalla) Not
the actions of a woman who flaunts her morality/rectitude, her religiosity.
With greater reason Mati, that she SHOULD have treated my Luciana well, if
simply just to respect the memory of the woman who gave her daughter over to
her care. Did you tell her that I was willing to come here and tell the whole
truth?
M: Yes. And she told me that she was willing to confront you.
P: Well here I am. And if it’s necessary, yes I will tell. I won’t do it for
me, but for Luciana. Because she’s lost part of her life. At what moment did my
Luci decide to come here to try her luck/make her way? I should have never
permitted her to leave the pueblo.
M: What you need to keep clear in your mind is that even if Luci learns the
truth, for her, her mother will always be you. She adores you and will eternally
be grateful to you and Galdino for all you have done for her as her parents.
Paz says she knows, but thinks it will be natural for Luci
to feel betrayed when she finds out the truth. Paz will have to carry the guilt
of that the rest of her life. But Luci has to start living the life she was
meant to live. Just yesterday Claudio Linares was with them. “Do you know how
it was for me to see father and daughter together?” Mati freaks out. Paz says
that Linares is such a warm (calido) man, so caring and he loves Luci like a
father. “Luciana has a right to know that her father is alive.” She has a right
to live a better life without deprivation (privaciones). And most of all she
has a right to live with her father, if that’s what she wants.
Back at Vio’s, Marcial is still singing the same tune, but
he hasn’t worn Vio down. She opens the door for him to go. She gives meaning to his life. He’s just
asking for a little more time. Blah, blah, blah. “Take all the time you need.
But in the meantime, leave me in peace!” He can’t stop thinking about her a single
moment. He comes up behind her and puts his arms around her. Just then, his
crazy wife storms in, triumphant that she’s caught the pair of cheaters in the
act!
Avances: Rosa and Paz
rumble in the library! Who will come out the victor?

Abismso de pasión #89 7/16/12: Can it Get Any More Irritating?
Ok, maybe it's me but this episode just pithed me off. It didn't help that there were NO English subtitles so I was unable to fall back on them during the important conversations (and there were only like, what, two of them...maybe?)
Lo Refrito
BANG!
Horacio: You are so screwed.
Carmina: No I'm not, you are. Ooo! Paper! Note from Kenia! Wait, we do have a way out. I'll keep my mouth shut and you keep your mouth shut.
Dam: Break up with Pal. You've got the road open for Elisa.
Gael: Dude. I broke up with Pal about four episodes ago.
Lo Nuevo the Short Version
- Carmina and Horacio get their stories straight. He was helping her move to Begonia's. Too bad Gael saw them drive off and can verify that she was NOT gone "all afternoon."
- Chente goes crash with Paolo's Phallocycle. Escuincle Baboso needs a kidney transplant. Tonia is gonna be screwed.
- Padre and Gael talk really fast. I'm pretty sure Gael's synapses are starting to fire and he's wondering why Padre has always insisted that Gael and Dam be best buds.
- ToadHead's body is discovered and Elisa wails and irritates all of Viewerville.
- Carmina mentions ToadHead shooting himself before she's supposed to know how he died. Ooops. Elisa yells and demands to know how she knew that.
Seriously. That's really it. But if you insist on details:
Lo Nuevo in Detail
In Which Flashbacks and FF>> Opportunities Abound (Not necessarily as aired. I did some condensing)
- Quique kvetches to Doc Dad about Sabrina's relationship with Paolo. The other girls the Italian Stallion has knows were experienced (code for sluts), but Sabrina is innocent. She could really get hurt. Doc Dad agrees to talk to Begonia. As he leaves, Quique asks Pal to go to the movies with him. Doc, the greatest freaking boss ever, grants Pal the rest of the day off. He'll take care of the filing she never does.
- ING interrupts Doc's filing to tell him she'll be at a restaurant in Mérida around 8. He should meet her there. Later in the episode we see the stands her up. He tried to tell her he was going to be busy dealing with a family problem but ING wouldn't listen.
- Elisa sits under a tree and flashesback to one of her last conversations with Dad in which she tells him she and Dam will never work and ToadHead tells her he just wants her happy. Lolita arrives to tell her that Papá has sent for her.
- Guido calls Flor from jail. Quique isn't paying the bills anymore. Flor tells him not to worry. She and Dam are back together and he'll be paying the legal fees. They're getting married in two weeks! And since Fina is so worried about appearances, she'll make sure you're out for the wedding. Guido warns Flor about marrying a man whose mother will always be butting into the marriage. Flor and Guido hang up as Fina and Dam arrive. Dam assures Flor Guido will be at the wedding...his mom will take care of that. Flor smirks. Fina flicks the fan.
- Sabrina and Paolo snog in the plaza. She gets a craving and Paolo goes to get a snack. Chente (now fully bandanahanded) macks on Sabrina. Paolo comes up and calls him an escuincle baboso and runs him off. Chente steals and crashes the Phallocycle. Lolita screams. Paolo is pithed...his moto has been trashed again!
- Carmina and Horacio have the truck all packed. Carmina tells him that they are to say that he came to help her move all her crap to the Tovar's and they were gone all afternoon. They never saw ToadHead. They drive off, unaware that Gael has seen them leaving. He rings the bell but no one answers.
- Chente is unconscious in the street. The folks with heart call for an ambulance and a doctor. Paolo gripes about his moto. At home, Doc and Begonia are discussing the Sabrina. Begonia thinks Paolo is an ok guy since he has the Carmina Orange Seal of Approval. All that rapey snake business was Elisa's fault. Doc is pretty sure that it's a bunch of bunk since the whole world knows Carmina hates Elisa. Begonia lets him know that Carmina will be staying with them since she is having marital problems. The Ho arrives on cue and thanks Doc. Doc reminds her that it is HIS house and he doesn't want her there. If he has to, he'll say exactly why. Begonia is confused, but Quique and Pal arrive just before the can of beans and worms gets opened. Doc is needed at the Centro de Salud.
- Gael ponders why Elisa didn't tell Damián that they weren't hermanos and flashes back: to a young Gael preparing for a funeral and being told he has the OBLIGATION of saying good-bye to Rosendo. Padre comes home. Gael asks him why it is so important he and Damián be together on tragic occasions...like burying his sister; like when Rosendo died. Gael reminds Padre that he told him that is was his DUTY to say good bye to Rosendo. Padre says it's because Rosendo paid for his schooling. Things get heated (that's code for I had trouble understanding and the Spanish CCs are crap.) Padre thinks Gael is accusing him of keeping secrets. Gael says Padre didn't tell him about Dam's upcoming wedding nor did anyone tell Dam that Elisa is not his sister.
- Chente is not dead. Doc Tovar explains that Chente's kidney is injured and there is internal bleeding. A transplant will be needed because this was the most convenient way to out Tonia about the Gab business. Of course, Brau is ready to sign up for testing because Chente is his son. Tonia insists on being tested too, you know...just in case. She is so screwed.
- Elisa and Lolita arrive home and the wailing begins. It grates on my nerves. I ain't recapping this hot mess.
- Maru and Lucio return from their dinner date. He is embarrassed because she had to pay. He left his wallet. Maru finds the wallet between the cushions. She drops it as she hands it to him.The both reach down. Sparks, but no contact. They are interrupted by a phone call. It's Lolita telling him that Toad is dead
- Begonia is indignant. Carmina is not the one who should have been thrown out. It should have been Toad. Carmina claims she hasn't seen Toad since the day before.
- Padre and Gael talk fast (remember the code.) Padre talks about Dam and Flor. He fusses about Gael and Paloma. How would Gael feel seeing Pal with some other guy? Gael claims nothing would happen. Gael leaves in a huff. I need help with this conversation.
- Quique and Paloma are strolling the plaza now that the Chente emergency is under control. Quique admits there was a time he was prejudiced (predispuesto) against her 'cause of gossip. Pal messes with Quique and says she felt the same way at one time. She talks him into buying her a snack, but we'll never know about it because it was edited. QTH? Was the female vendor topless? They run into Dam and Flor. Flor brags about getting married soon and says she'll invite Pal. Pal says she doesn't go to weddings that are doomed for failure. Almost girl fight. Quique admits it upsets him that Flor is marrying. Pal can't catch a break from any guy.
- Elisa won't leave her Papito's side. Lucio manages to drag her away while she wails and screams. He takes note of the gun, the note from Kenia and a bag. Horacio arrives on the scene and recites his alibi to Lucio as Carmina instructed. Lucio calls Carmna at Begonia's. Carmina pushes until Lucio tells her Augusto died. Carmina acts surprised. Begonia goes with her to the house.
- In her bedroom, Elisa wails some more. Elisa figures Lolita was sent to fetch her so he could say good bye. Elisa thinks Toad must have killed himself because he felt he was responsible for Kenia's death.
- Dam tells Flor she didn't need to be so rude to Pal. Flor starts to figure out that Dam is not as happy about the wedding as he should be. She accuses him of wanting to keep it secret. Dam really doesn't answer that question.
- Carmina arrives and hugs Lucio. She plays the role of grieving widow. She wants to be with Augusto, but Horacio tells her the authorities are there. That stops Carmina in her tracks. Lucio tells her that Toad killed himself (se quitó la vida.) They roll out the body. Carmina wants to know where they are taking him and Lucio tells her there has to be an autopsy. It's the law. Carmina says it's clear he shot himself with the rifle and why can't they just let him rest in peace. Ruh roh, Lucio never told her HOW Toad died. Just that he killed himself. Elisa arrives for one more round of screaming: How did you know he shot himself if you weren't even here?? Answer me!!!!!!!!!! Yeah. Whatever. Nothing is going to happen. There are too many episodes. left.
Avances
- Pal and Gael get it on.
- Dam and Flor do not.

Por ella soy Eva #1 7/16/12
We open with our heroine Helena at the cemetery. A strange guy in a hoody (Juan Carlos, now JC) is lurking behind trees. She has flowers for him because it's his birthday. Along comes another woman, and another, one leaves a red bra on his tombstone, the aunt of one of them comes along (she also was one of JC's conquests).
Here comes a batch of mariachis accompanying a couple drunk women, one in a fur coat, they call themselves JC's courtesans and say "He shared with all but gave his heart to none."
Heroine, who's been watching this in amazement, says "That guy deceived all of us, he just deserves to be forgotten." Dozens more women arrive as the mariachis wail. Behind the tree JC whispers: "Helena, you are the only one I've ever loved. When will you forgive me?"
MONTHS EARLIER...
In Acapulco: JC pulls up in a nice car and a nice white suit. The Grand Resort hotel is opening, joint project with a US firm. Reporters swarm him - he blabs smoothly, then grabs one of them and makes an appointment for later.
With his buds Santiago y Fernando by the pool, all three are ogling. One sidekick is married so he's sad looking at the unavailable fruit. JC says to the other: "don't ruin your life, there's time to get away from her, jeez, you already smell married." Then: "Remember our code: no very young women; old women and single mothers don't exist." JC wants his own children, not somebody else's.
"A goddess" arrives in a red dress. JC moves in and though his line is very crappy, she takes a look at him and immediately accompanies him into the empty hotel where they proceed to make out against a wall...
... while her FIANCE, an old gringo dude, turns out to be boss of the US company and is signing papers to join his gringo $$$ to Grupo Imperio... He says his future wife is "The ideal woman: young, beautiful and only opens her mouth when necessary."
While bragging about the up-to-the-moment security of the hotel, they turn on the closed-circuit tv feed and JC's groping with the affianced goddess is shown to all, with the result that the old gringo dude tears up the contract and leaves snarling, "You'll be hearing from my lawyers."
In Mexico City: In her son Lalito's bedroom, Helena practices a presentation on her six-year project, the eco-touristic Majagua Beach.
She lives with her parents. Her dad has been grouchy with her for years - I think he'd like to charge her rent. He scolds her for a marriage that left her with debts. He hands her a hefty private school bill she has to pay. He says nobody will pay attention to a project created by a woman. Helena's mother is nicer.
Turns out Helena had an appointment today - made three months earlier - with JC himself - to discuss her project! But he's in Acapulco... She sits down to wait, and she waits and waits, but then she gets a call from her friend at the hotel where she works - she's needed. She leaves her notebooks with the G.I. secretary saying, "This is my entire life, put these right in JC's hand." She leaves.
Moments later, of course, Adriano Reyes the boss re-arrives from Acapulco after the shattered deal, followed by everybody (the evil Plutarco, JC's buddies, JC, etc). The secretary gives Helena's notebooks to JC and he immediately tosses them in the trash on his way in to his boss's office. Because no project cooked up by a woman could be any good.
The boss yells at him and says, "Unless you come up with a project as good as the one you just ruined with your skirt-chasing, you're fired and so are your buddies."
Behind the hotel desk, Helena fixes something very efficiently for a guy connected with the Canadian "Alberta Trouble Company" [sic]. Impressed, he says she's over-qualified for her job and hints he might have something for her (his business is in competition with Grupo Imperial)
Later she goes home and her son (who is not horrid so far) reminds her that if her project is a success they will be able to buy a house and a dog.
In the hot tub: Plutarco and his girlfriend play wet footsie. He is married to Antonia (the plus-sized sister of big boss Adriano Reyes, himself a sexist skirt-chaser), whom his girlfriend calls "the manatee." Antonia calls him and he goes home briefly (after all, she IS the boss's sister). She is dressed in lingerie. There are sadly going to be a lot of fat jokes. Plutarco spurns her and goes, I guess, back to the hot tub, where he plots with his girlfriend to kick JC while he's down.
In a big house somewhere: JC goes to see his mother Eugenia who was in the theater and now has memory problems. She says she can fix his woes.
Finally: Helena gets a phone call from Grupo Imperial and goes in. She think's it's JC calling her in to discuss her project, but instead it is Rebeca Oropeza, who mocks her for thinking she could see such an august personage as JC: "He doesn't have time for you. But he left this for you. You're fired."

Refugio Para el Amor #72 Mon 7/16/12 Stepford Wife Rosa Will Not Be Moved From Her Happy Place, but Paz Takes Away the Last of Rod’s Peace of Mind
Luci has hightailed it over to Empresas Torreslanda to try
to stop her mama before she rips Rod a new one, or he reveals details about
what went down between them. She arrives just as Emperor Max has pulled up in
his black town car. He calls to her and they greet each other. Luci tells him
she is looking for her mama, and he is surprised that her mother has come to
D.F. He invites Luci up to his office.
Meanwhile, Paz is letting loose a whole lot of righteous
indignation on Rod.
P: Rodrigo, I didn’t want to say this, but you deceived/disappointed
me. You promised you would take care of my daughter-- that you would make my
Luciana happy. And now I find her alone, unhappy, and unable to tell me that
you no longer love her. She kept it a secret!
R: I love her a lot Doña Paz.
P: You love her?! Well, I don’t believe it. No, I don’t believe it, and it
hurts me a lot Rodrigo. Because I believed in you-- your promises. In spite of
knowing that your mother didn’t like her!
R: Doña
Paz, you can’t image how much this situation hurts me.
P: Well just imagine how much it hurts me. You can’t imagine the sadness I feel
seeing my Luciana like this. Because you
married my little girl Rodrigo. And all of this *love* that you promised, just
ended, just like that?! That is called deception, sir! Deception!
R: The only thing I can say to you Doña Paz is that I’m going to love Luci
all my life.
P: Well, hopefully SHE won’t (love you forever). Hopefully she’ll forget about
you quickly. Hopefully she’ll forget the happiness that you promised her, and
that you didn’t deliver! What sadness you bring me Rodrigo! Because you have
never had, nor will you ever have, a woman as worthy/valuable as my Luciana.
You! You didn’t know how to appreciate her.
Rod looks shamefaced through the entire conversation and at
the point of tears.
Over in Max’s office, Luci is nervous and explains to Max
that she didn’t tell her mom about the divorce. Her mom surprised them by
coming to D.F., and has found nothing but bad news with her kids- Lorenzo in
jail and her getting a divorce. Luci wanted to avoid causing her all this pain.
Max tells Luci not to worry about her brother and gives a secretive smile. (I
think we can now be sure that Lor will go free.) He then tells Luci how badly
he feels about what’s going on with her and Rod, and knows that things have
been unjust for her. Luci wants Max to
go find her mama; she herself does not want to encounter Rod. Max takes Luci’s
hands and says that we all have to face our problems head on. He suggests they
go look for her mama in Rod’s office together. Considering that means facing
the last two people she wants to face right now, Luci looks more than a little
reluctant.
Paz continues the tongue lashing of Rod, telling him that
she’s leaving very disappointed in him. She never imagined that she would have
to rip him a new one like she’s just done.
R: Doña
Paz, I offer you an apology. The last thing I wanted to do was harm Luci, and
you. (He reaches for her arm and she looks at his hand like he’s a leper.) You
don’t know how much I regret this situation. And believe one thing—this morning
I separated from her, loving her profoundly.
Paz stares at him and shakes her head in disbelief.
Aldo, who never seems to learn, calls Nicole’s salon asking
for Vicky. She hasn’t answered her phone or texts, and he’s surprised to hear
she hasn’t been to work… We next see Vicky waking up in the chalet in the
woods. Yay!! She’s alive. Oh, but wait. She naked and handcuffed to the bed,
with not a key or cell phone in sight. She freaks out and cries for her Osito.
Rod is sitting on the couch in his office, in deep thought,
when Max brings Luci in. Rod explains that Paz just left and Luci immediately
makes to leave. Rod delays her a bit by apologizing and saying he never meant
to cause her mother this pain. Luci says nothing. (It’s a case of too little,
too late.) Max gives Rod a stern look and tells Luci the chauffer is waiting
downstairs to take her and her mom wherever they want. Luci refuses it, but Max
insists. She leaves and Rod watches her leave longingly. Max’s phone rings at
that moment. Rosa wants him to advise Rod and Aldo that they are having a
special family dinner that afternoon. Rod refuses to go. Max understands his
anger. He disagrees with many of Rosa’s actions, but she’s always done things
thinking of her children’s well-being. Well, at least from her *particular*
(meaning crazy) point of view. Rod still refuses and doesn’t want to talk about
Rosa.
Aldo catches Max just as he returns to his office. He’s been
dying to talk to him about the Lorenzo situation. Max informs Aldo that as of
today, he’s his personal assistant. Aldo is shocked but then super happy about
it. Max wants him to be available to him 24 hours a day. He is to obey ALL
orders. He won’t be allowed to make one single error! Aldo promises. Max then
tells him about the dinner. Aldo brings up Lorenzo again and begs him to
intercede. Max doesn’t give him an answer, but just dismisses him by saying
he’ll see him at the house later. Max then immediately picks up the phone and
calls Lastra with a p*ssed off look on his face.
Outside the building, Luci is searching frantically for Paz.
Cuco, the driver, has not seen her. Marcos arrives, calls to Luci and asks if
she needs help. She is just telling him about trying to find her mom, when one
of the security guys brings Paz back. She got lost. Cuco takes them home in the
town car.
In Het Het, Procopio seems to have adjusted to his new job
as funeral home director pretty quickly. He’s wearing Don Serapio’s bowler hat
and black suit, and making a flower arrangement. Don Aquiles comes busting in
and makes fun of Copio. Copio says he prefers the dead who are quiet, to Aquiles
who’s always yelling or kicking him. Aquiles tells him he can stick with his
peace and says he’s ashamed of him. He leaves without much of a fight. Copio
gets reassurance from Theo that this job is just as honorable and good as any
other. Copio thinks that Aquiles just misses him, and misses bossing him
around. It’s not easy to find another Procopio! Theo agrees.
Rosa is being played by her Stepford Wife clone this
evening. She sets the table and asks Frigida to inform Pato and Hannah to come
down for the meal. She asks Mati to bring the wine because she wants to make a
special celebratory toast. Mati does her best to ignore her. Connie walks in
and wants to know what they’re celebrating. Why, Luci and Rod’s divorce, of
course! La, la, la! Rosa smiles happily. Frigida listens in. Frigida then goes to
the kitchen and tells Mati that she will take care of chilling the wine. (All
she has to do is put her hands on the bottle.) What she really wants is to be
alone to report in to Gala and Julie.
At Vio’s apartment, the two girls are holding their moms.
Magda is saying that everything happens for a reason. If Luci has made this
decision, then Paz has to help Luci overcome this life test. Everything will
turn out well in the end, as God wishes. Vio tries to cheer Luci up by saying
she will have other beaus lining up at her door soon. Luci says she will never
fall in love again. This will never happen to her again. Paz says she’s very
disappointed, but not by her kids. She’s disappointed that her kids did not have
enough faith in her to tell her what was going on with them. They thought that
she wouldn’t help them resolve their problems. They didn’t trust her. Luci asks
her pardon and says she does trust her. Paz has always taught her and her
brother to stay on the right path. She didn’t go wrong with them. If they
didn’t tell her, it was only to avoid causing her this pain. Paz shouldn’t have
to cry because of their errors. Paz kisses her and hugs Luci to her bosom.
At Casa Torreslanda, the family has started to gather around
the table. Hannah and Pato bring up needing to have the elevator checked. Pato
finds it very suspicious that it locked Mati in like that and wants to talk to
the architect. Frigida does a lousy job of hiding her guilt. But she looks like
that all the time, so I guess it would be hard to tell. Aldo is the last to
arrive (aside from Rod), and seems to be the only one to notice that Rosa has
been replaced by a Stepford Wife or a Pod Person when she calls him mi amor and
politely asks him to sit. Rosa prays and blesses the meal. Aldo continues to
look at her like she’s an alien. Maybe he can see the lizard skin peeking out
from underneath her fake human skin. Max notes that it’s strange that they are
all together, but informs everyone that Rod is not coming. Aldo, Melissa and
Hannah want to know what they’re celebrating. Rosa happily tells them. They are
celebrating the return of tranquility to their home. Rod walks in just then
behind Rosa. She doesn’t see him. “Today, as of a few hours ago, Rodridgo
finally got his divorce! Cheers, to the happiness of my son Rodrigo!” No one
else raises a glass and Rod approaches the table slowly and looks at Rosa with
scorn. He picks up a glass of wine and swigs it. “Cheers. Because I will be
unhappy the rest of my life. Thank you mama.” He puts the glass back on the
table and walks out the way he came. Everyone gives Rosa the stink eye, but she
continues on as if nothing happened.
Over in their posh apartment, Gala and Julie are also
toasting to the divorce over a meal, but with champagne, of course. Gala is
happy that Rod is now a free man. Julie is happy that they now have the
matriarch of the Torreslanda family in the palm of their hand. Bwahahaha!! Gala
is pleased about this too. Rosa will have to help her get Rod back—it doesn’t
matter to Gala how she does it. Julie has no doubt. Rosa is terrible and will
do all kinds of horrid things (including stealing babies and faking their
deaths) to get what she wants. Gala wants to see Rod, but doesn’t want to risk
the cling-wrap act yet. Carola calls and Julie invites her out with Gala and
her girls to celebrate.
Rosa is trying to persuade the other members of the family
to get on her happy train about the Rod-Luci divorce. No one is buying a ticket
for that train to Crazytown. Rosa says this pain Rod is feeling is fleeting.
Luci deceived him. S/He who deceives once, will deceive a second time and many more
times. Rosa just wants love and trust to return to this house. (Ha! What house
is she talking about?) She knows she’s been anxious lately, and a TINY bit
intolerant, but it was just her nerves. She’s sick. But now she’s feeling
mighty fine and content. Max now seems to have realized that Rosa has been
replaced by a Pod Person. He looks like he’s running all the names of the local
manicomios through his head. Rosa says she just wants to recuperate her family
and the warmth of her home. She apologizes for being such a bitch to them all
lately. Pato finally cuts into this
crazy speech by saying she will always have their love and affection because
she’s their mom, but if she wants to recuperate this harmony she’s talking
about, she will have to apologize to Luci. He then leaves the dining room. He’s
soon followed by everyone else. Max says he has an important “appointment.”
Connie is the only one remaining. Rosa, still with a smile on her face, asks if
she will join her for wine. Connie takes her glass of wine, gets up, and
leaves.
Luci and Paz speak about the money Rod sent Paz. Paz
actually brought it all with her to give back to Rod. Luci is in agreement with
this. Vio, once again, doesn’t see the harm in keeping the money since it was
given to them. There’s a knock on the door. It’s Estella, Ariche and Marianita.
Estella brought cookies. The kiddies want to show off the gifts Marianita’s mom
sent—a puzzle and a magic princess wand. Ariche asks Luci if it’s true that if you make
a wish with all your heart that it will come true. She says it is, but you have
to ask with all your forces. Marianita makes Luci take the wand and make a
wish. Luci closes her eyes and does so. There is immediately a knock at the door.
The kids answer and it’s Fabian looking a little sheepish and a lot happy. He
addresses Paz and shows her what he’s brought. It’s Lorenzo! He steps up to his
mama and she acts like she’s going to smack him good. Instead, she pulls him
into an embrace. Everyone rejoices. Luci and Lorenzo hug and everyone else then
hugs him.
Pato reports to Rod via video the rest of the happenings at
the strange meal with their mama. Rod says he doesn’t know when he’ll next
return to the house. He doesn’t want to see Rosa and he can’t stand her right
now (no la aguanto). He knows he shouldn’t speak that way about his mother, but
she ruined his life. Pato gets it. She ruined his life, but Rod could have
avoided it. Rod admits this is true. Marcos comes into his office and asks if
Luci came to speak to him earlier, since he saw her out front. Rod says she did
not come to see him, but to get her mother. Marcos can’t believe they are still
mad at each other. Not mad, but now divorced Rod points out. Marcos is
impactdado. Marcos says he can’t divorce Luci. Rod clarifies. It’s already
done. Marcos feels sorry for them all,
who will now no longer have Luci in their lives, thanks to Rod. Pato says he
will. He will go looking for Luci to see her. Luci is still part of his family,
and no piece of paper will tell him different! Rod once again looks surprised
to see the intensity of Pato’s feelings for Luci.
Max returns to the scene of the crime. Vicky is still cuffed
to the bed, looking terrified. She cries and begs him not to do anything else
to her. He gives her a death glare from the doorway.
Back to a celebration that’s actually happy. Lorenzo
remembers that they left Claudio waiting outside. Luci rushes to hug him when
he enters, and thanks him. She then introduces
him to Magda and then to her mama. Paz stares at him in shocked silence. He
takes her hand and formally introduces himself. Her eyes go even wider and her
mouth drops open when he says his name. She nearly faints once again. They all
make her sit and Paz apologizes to Claudio. Claudio thinks she’s just tired
from the long journey, and the surprises. He says he won’t stay long, but he
wants to invite them all out soon. Luci says it has to be really soon, because
they are leaving as soon as she takes her exam. She gives Claudio some of the
special tea she made before he leaves. Paz tells him she will always be
grateful to him. He has NO idea the happiness he has brought into her life. (He
thinks she is speaking about freeing Lorenzo, but Magda, Estella and the
audience all know she is also speaking about him giving her a daughter.)
Claudio takes her hand again and says she has absolutely nothing to thank him
for. Paz gives Magda a meaningful look.
At the chalet of fear, Max approaches the bed with keys. He
undoes the handcuffs. In a soft threatening voice, he asks his little doll
Vicky why she’s scared. She asks why he did this to her. She thought he was
going to leave her there. He kisses and caresses the hand that was just cuffed
to the bed and says he would never leave her. She asks him what’s going on—he’s
never done this to her. He points out that she’s never betrayed him before.
Then he angrily flings her arm down. She swears she never betrayed him. He says
he believes her, because if she had betrayed him, they wouldn’t be having this
conversation now. (Meaning, she wouldn’t be alive.) She begs him to never do
this to her again. He kisses her shoulder and whispers sweet menaces in her
ear. “It’s just a game muñequita,
just a game.”
Rosa has followed Connie to the sitting room with her wine.
She wants to know why Connie is so upset by her change in attitude, when Connie
has been hounding her for months about changing. She says Connie is right. She
has all that she needs to be happy, and the good Padre Honesto also told her
this. She credits him with this change in her. He told her to repair the path
she was walking, and she’s done so. Rosa tells Connie to stop looking at her
like she’s crazy, ‘cause she’s not. Ha! Life has given her a new opportunity to
change her bad ways. Connie wants to know if it’s all fixed, just like that?
Yep. The threat has gone, says Rosa. All will return to normal and Rosa intends
to enjoy every minute of it. Connie looks extremely frustrated about what to do
with the pod person who is posing as her sister.
The B/Witch Posse have gone out to a hopping club to
celebrate the divorce. Gala toasts to
Rod living through this pain to eventually live by her side. Julie goes over to
hit on some young thing at the bar.
Rod’s body is seated in his office chair, but his mind is
definitely miles away. Marcos and Gabriel decide they need to take him out for
drinking and distraction. This gets his attention. “Let’s go.”
In Het Het, Aquiles can’t get used to life without Procopio—he
has to bend over and pick up his darts, for example. He can’t believe he hasn’t
found another Copio in this whole two bit town. He has even resorted to
speaking to and abusing his stuffed coati mundi, in place of Copio.
Linares tells his assistant Norma about meeting Paz. Now he
knows why Luci is so sweet. Norman scolds him for being out all day. Claudio
admits to neglecting his other duties in order to help Luci and her brother. He
hasn’t even looked through the documents he brought back from Europe. Now that Luci
is divorced and Lorenzo is out of jail, he’s going to dedicate himself full time
to his fraud case. But he’s going to proceed very carefully (andar con pies de
plomo). He doesn’t want to make one wrong move because this is his only chance to clear
his name and unmask Max.
Vicky returns home crying. Don Jero was worried about her
and asks where she’s been all day. Vicky tries to pretend that nothing is wrong
and says she was working at a client’s house out of the city and had no cell
reception. She starts to bawl and embraces her papa. Jero gets even more
worried. He can feel her trembling. He
wonders if Aldo did something to her; he just wants her to tell him what’s
wrong. She lies and says it’s the stress of everything—him losing his job. Jero
gives her the happy news that Max gave him his job back and it was all a
misunderstanding (malintendido). Vicky hugs him again, but she still can’t stop
crying. Jero tries to assure her that all will be well.
Max, the bastard, walks into Pato’s room and kisses him.
Tomorrow, Pato starts his new therapy. He thanks Max for his faith in him and
support. Max tells him to save his thanks till he can walk again. He’s not
going to rest until Pato achieves this. Pato asks if he saw Rod at the office
and how was he. Max lies without hesitation that he had a work appointment, and
so did not see Rod after the disastrous meal. Pato thinks Rod must be down in
the dumps. Max tells Pato about Paz showing up at the offices. Pato would like
to meet her; he’s sure she’s as sweet as Luci. “You care for Luci a lot,
right?” “A whole lot.” Max likes her too, but points out
that now that Luci is out of Rod’s life, she’s out of theirs too. Pato disagrees.
She’s not out of his life. Max says she’ll most likely return to her town and
not come back. Pato is still determined. He’ll go looking for her when he’s
recovered. Max agrees with him.
Magda tries to get Vio to eat something before she goes to
her “nursing” job. Vio continues with her lie about her uniform being at
Serena’s place. Magda gives her the blessing, and Vio says how much she missed
having her do that. The boys take Ariche up to their little place to go to bed.
Before he goes, Ariche reminds Marianita to make her wish and to hold her wand
all night. Estella and Marianita also then leave. Luci begins to clear up, but
looks sad again. Paz asks her why she and Rod separated so quickly. What
happened between them that Luci doesn’t want to tell her? Luci sits her down.
She has learned by now that this is the best position for Paz to be in when she
gets bad news. Paz sits next to Magda. They both stare wide eyed at Luci,
anticipating the worst.
L: I’m going to tell you both the truth, although I’m dying
of shame.
P: Luciana, don’t scare me daughter.
M: My goodness! What happened Luciana?
Luci goes to the drawer and pulls out the envelope with the
infamous magazine.
L: Ama, Magda- When I came here to the capital, things
weren’t like I thought. God and the Virgin know how many streets I walked,
looking for so many jobs. But each time I arrived, something happened and they
didn’t give me the job. In desperation, I went to work in a place as a waitress—a
night club.
P: But daughter! How did you end up in a place like that?
M: Who took you there Luciana? (If only she knew…)
L: That’s not important Magda. I didn’t even go there to work as a waitress. I
went to be a bathroom attendant, but…
P: But? But what daughter?
Luci pulls out the magazine and shows it to them. Paz and
Magda immediately recognize her under the makeup, wig and costume.
P: Luciana. No, no Luciana, no.
Avances: Paz is ticked.
She says her silence is over and she’s going to put Rosa in her place. She and
Magda go to Casa Torreslanda!

Amorcito Corazón Discussion #54-63 July 16-20
I've lost track of what chapter we're on. Was today 54 and 55??
'Nando, Isa and Manuela
Manuela and Ceci crash a celebratory dinner thrown by Zoe (who's living with Felipe now.) Manuela proposes a toast to her new job at 'Nando's company. 'Nando drops the "I'm not hiring you" bomb. Manuela runs off to the bathroom to freak out. Ceci and Felipe think 'Nando was harsh. Zoe was fine with it. Manuela spends the rest of the episode playing emotional blackmail. In a flashback we find out that she does have a history of deep depression and
trastornos emocionales (emotional disorders) and that she feels like Sofia "took what was hers"; however, IMHO she is faking it for most of this episode. Because of Manuela's history, Horty is able to guilt 'Nando into hiring her (Isa helps to guilt him into it when she hears about Manuela's past and how much Manuela's disorder intruded on his marriage.) Manuela also plays Ceci like a Stradivarius.
Willy, Lucía and Beba
Beba continues to dream of her wedding with Willy. Horty tells Jorge about this "wedding" and her concerns that Beba is being taken advantage of. Willy calls it off with Beba and tells him he's madly in love with another woman. This breaks Beba's heart and she hits him with a vase and knocks him out. He recovers quickly. Willy really did seem repentant...thoughts? Opinions?
Later, Beba goes to visit Lucia. Willy also visits Lucia and tells her he wants to introduce her to his mom as his pre-novia. Beba overhears Lucia and Willy talking marriage (Lucia talks him into waiting and he respects that.) Beba gets very upset and in heart attack moment #1 Viewerville thinks Beba is going to tell all. She doesn't. Lucia, still misreading the situation tells Beba that true love will come knocking on her door one day.
Willy goes to Beba's house again and begs forgiveness again. Beba says she'll forgive him IF he confesses his past to Lucia. Willy says he will, but by the end of the episode he still hadn't.
Barbell (Thanks, Julia!), Marisogullible and Knuckles
Barbell is hanging out with Knuckles and talking to Mari-so-dumb on the phone. She is still feeding Mari-so-pitiful the ol' "Juancho is still pithed" line of bull. Barbell swears she'll keep working on behalf of Mari-so-stupid. Barbell hangs up and tells Kuckles she's doing her part to keep them apart, what is Knuckles contributing? I can't remember what he said and I forgot to make a note.
Jorge the Tool
Makes his mother think he'll be staying a little longer 'cause he loves her, but really it's just to keep his nose in her business. Jorge gets his thugs to kidnap Willy. They bring him to a secret location. Jorge threatens Willy's family and then the thugs beat Willy up and leave him in the dirt. After this little chore, Jorge heads to Isa's for a late night visit. He tells her how worried he is about people taking advantage of his mother. The next day he sends flowers to Isa's office. Can we say d*****bag on this blog?
Leo and G-mina
G-mina has decided to give Leo his tranquilizante* every 6 hours instead of every 8. Leo spends the rest of the episode loopy and sounding drunk. G-mina's plan is to get him to sign documents which I assume will give her all the money. He manages to call Isa and slur to her, but G-mina catches him and hangs up. Isa rushes over, convinced that something is up. G-mina had Leo hidden in, you guessed it....the closet. This was definitely not funny.
*would mean tranquilizer or anti-anxiety med? Pharmacist hub and I discussed this and he thinks with high blood pressure an anti-anxiety would be prescribed. Are we expecting too much of the TN medical community?
Heart attack moments #2 and #3
There was a scene with Lucia and Reina (and Reina's MC Hammer pants) and they were looking at a house with a Realtor. I missed exactly what Lucia said, but the Realtor seemed to indicate that Lucia's word was good as gold. Feel free to fill in my blanks, but I got a "something is going to go wrong" vibe. Heart attack moment #2 was when Lucia called Beba while she was eating lunch with Jorge. I thought for sure Beba was going to go back on her word (Heart attack #2 and how silly of me! Beba would never do that.) Then I thought for sure Jorge was going to be a putz about the money (Heart attack #3.) So far he's not.
The That's So Creepy Award goes to...
Whoever obliterated the "de Lobo" from Sofía's tombstone. Who could have possibly done that???
The Hubba Hubba Award goes to...
For the scene when Willy takes off his shirt for some medical care from Lucia. It ends in a kiss that is interrupted by Lala. I laughed out lout when Willy tried to cover himself.
