La Verdad Oculta #042: Ordinary Dora to Extraordinary Dora (and The Wedding)

At the church portal, Julieta offers beautiful bride Gabriela the bouquet and her blessing; while Gabriela explains Leonardo's presence there after Mario expresses his bittersweet wish to have been giving Gabriela away.

Presently, to Lohengrin's Bridal Chorus, "Faithfully Guided" ("Truelich Gefürt"), Leonardo faithfully guides Gabriela down the aisle past friends and family -- Alejandra and Bertha fast on their heels to the side, not-so fashionably late. At the altar, a beaming David only has eyes for his bride.

A moment even later, the Ávilas stroll right up the middle, with Carlos glaring at the bridal couple's clasped hands -- and Juan José bending forward to glare at the Ávilas. Meanwhile, at Santiago's, he bitterly weeps over family keepsakes in an ancient, worn box.

David and Gabriela joyfully exchange vows and rings, Yolanda murmuring to the dour Carlos -- and Bertha casting a coy look over her shoulder to Adolfo, who smiles in assent. Maid of honor Julieta provides coins symbolizing family prosperity; and Gabriela accepts them from David, both clasping them sweetly together in a solemn vow.

At home alone Santiago holds his wedding portrait with Márta over his heart and sobs in pain. In the church, Mario muses on Gabriela; and Juan José sends a sly look Alejandra's way, who gleams back. Asunción sneaks a peak through the tulips at Dora, flanked by Abelardo; and Leonardo dwells on the bride.

Abelardo looks concerned at Mario's sudden wince of pain -- and Julieta and matron of honor Dora place the wedding lasso around the couple; while the priest pronounces them married, and David plants a solid one on Gabriela.

Across town, Susana noshes snacks in bed when there's a knock, and it's dark-glasses, trench-coated Roberto with his nose stuck in the newspaper classified section. Inquiring about the truck for rent brings Marcos, who doesn't want to lease it without driving it himself; but for triple the fee, he's convinced.

Roberto claims he's picking up plastic toys that night in Veracruz for an orphanage; Susana thinks she's seen him before, but he gives his name as Antonio Castillo. At Mario's estate, we see Dora has quickly put together a beautifully appointed affair for the bridal couple, who appear and kiss to energetic applause.

Mario embraces them, and Gabriela greets Juan José, introducing him to Leonardo; and when Leonardo narrows his eyes and wonders if he doesn't work for the hotel, Juan José proclaims he bought the hotel! He casts an approving glance Alejandra's way and then an ugly one when the Ávilas appear, which Leonardo seems to notice.

As Juan José departs toward Alejandra, we see Leonardo has Julieta on his arm; then Asunción peels off, leaving Juan José to greet Alejandra alone, who is very pleased to see him. Not so pleased is Carlos, who tries hard to prevent him sitting with them; but Bertha greets him warmly.

Yolanda finally must reign in Carlos's protests, but he nearly spills Juan José's full name being introduced to Adolfo. Those two measure each other for a moment before reseating. Adolfo turns his tender ministrations to Bertha, and Alejandra discusses with Juan José her business visit to his apartment.

Elsa did not inform him of it, but he indulgently tells Alejandra she can do whatever she would like with his house; and she blushes at his husky, whispered compliments. They decide to talk elsewhere, and she laughs when he declares he'd follow her to the ends of the earth.

After they exit, Carlos objects to Bertha about her sister supposedly playing around on Roberto, making Bertha recoil at the ridiculous notion. Roberto's an idiot, she says; and when Bertha invites Carlos to explain why to curious Adolfo, Adolfo takes the occasion for another gratuitous fatherly insult -- not caring what Carlos would think.

It's an old, well worn hurt; and miffed Carlos ventures off for more hard liquor. On his way out, uneasy Yolanda begs him to take her home, saying she has a headache. In a quiet corner, when Alejandra asks about Elsa, Juan José explains their relationship, including Caramelo.

She guesses it was he who bought the hotel instead of "Mr. Limonta" and is astounded to learn it was just a very expensive whim. He admits, laughing, that he bought it because it holds a lot of meaning for him -- not because he knows anything about managing hotels.

Mario exits for his office; Carlos is just heading out again for another whiskey as Alejandra and Juan José return, whereupon Adolfo is apprised by Alejandra's conversation that he has a hotel competitor in the midst. They both agree they're fierce adversaries and eye each other once again.

When Adolfo remarks he's never heard of him heretofore, Juan José answers significantly that he's been -- abroad -- for eleven years. Across the way, Asunción traipses behind a harried Dora, as they pass Gabriela and Julieta noting Santiago has not yet arrived. On her way to the house to check, Gabriela's stopped by a congratulatory Yolanda, who notes the same thing about Santiago.

Nearby Bertha yucks it up with Adolfo, when Yolanda prods him again about leaving, irritating Adolfo. Yolanda points out that the police are there, indicating Leonardo; but Adolfo doesn't care. Carlos also looks in that direction, instead spying David; and suddenly Carlos gets a wild hair to kiss the bride.

Adolfo greets Mario exiting the house and conversationally pumps him about his plans, where he learns that he's traveling alone with only the chauffeur. He immediately calls Roberto to inform him and that it will be about 10 or 11 p.m. Roberto's startled when Adolfo warns him not to fail because everybody thinks he's useless and hangs up.

Bertha, in her cups and carrying two more, finds Adolfo; and when she asks if he doesn't want to toast the happy couple, he delights her by teasing, asking if they are already a couple! He gently pushes down her rudely pointing finger when she asks about the good looking guy in the wedding party, and it's Leonardo. Bertha's excited to learn he's a policeman, friend of the family, since she's never known a policeman.

Across the way, Leonardo congratulates Julieta on catching the bouquet, and they are just thanking Gabriela, about to leave, when a whiskey powered Carlos spins Gabriela around and tries a brutal embrace. Leonardo pulls him off just as David arrives and delivers a roundhouse to Carlos's head, and he goes down.

Screams everywhere, Carlos reappears and circles with David, blocked by Leonardo; Carlos threatens Leonardo and Juan José appears to hold off David -- when Adolfo arrives with Yolanda and angrily carts Carlos off, who's shouting threats.

Party over, Mario calls David and Gabriela to his office before they leave. Juan José encounters Asunción, far gone; and then Alejandra, who tells him how pleased she was he was there. They agree to meet again, and Juan José flatters her so sincerely and effusively that she kisses him on the cheek before departing. He closes his eyes in a state of ecstasy that every female viewer wishes she had created.

Poor Dora must endure Asunción's drunken professions of adoration until Juan José pulls him off. In Mario's office he tells Gabriela how much he cares about her and how happy he is to have met her. David tearfully embraces his father, as then does Gabriela, choking the weeping Mario up beyond words.

He counsels them to both help each other to have no problems with the Ávilas, since their business pact has such a short time to go. Mario becomes very emotional with what only he knows is their final goodbye. At the condo, Adolfo is furious Carlos crossed swords with a police commander! And what's with this macho stuff!

Carlos can't fathom why Adolfo cares about either now, but Adolfo does for his own reasons. He doesn't want people to think they and their business partners have problems (...in case one of them turns up dead, say). Carlos won't brook interference in his personal life, and when Adolfo threatens to kick him out, Carlos agrees -- if he gets his cut!

He's been working for Adolfo for years and the business does spectacularly because of him, but Adolfo denies he has any right to part of the business. So Carlos insists Adolfo will have to put up with him and won't leave. Adolfo's furious and threatens to chuck his things into the street, which then makes Yolanda furious.

She's livid because she blames Adolfo for Carlos's problems. He's his son! But Adolfo can't stand him. Of course he can't -- because he's heartless! she shouts. Whatever Carlos is, it's Adolfo's fault! Adolfo's! And that evil Márta! she cries. Adolfo's head jerks around, and he stares at her in shock.

At Mario's, Bertha is just gossiping to Alejandra that if Carlos is fighting over Gabriela, there must really be something between them, when Mario exits his office looking exhausted. Alejandra tries to get him to postpone his trip; but everything is ready, and he is saying goodbye to them.

Mario wants them to be good to Gabriela and not worry; they won't want for anything. Most of all, he begs them not to reveal David's origin to him. They are just promising when Abelardo enters with word that all is ready; and Alejandra is moved to embrace Mario, while Bertha can barely stand an affectionate poink on the nose. At his exit, Bertha wonders annoyed why everybody's acting like it's a funeral!

In Mario's office, it's Abelardo's turn to say goodbye, and he's already weeping. After so many years, the two men hardly have words and fall into an embrace, with Abelardo fretting tearfully what he will do without him. Mario bids him stay behind to make sure everything goes like it should with David and Santiago, and Abelardo vows to do everything possible to complete his plans.

Abelardo hopes the Swiss doctors can help him; but he's so distraught that Mario lets him stay behind in the office to avoid arousing the girls' suspicions and exits alone. Bertha laughs, mystified, why Ajelandra rushed upstairs weeping after Mario embraced her and thanked her, Bertha being in the dark about their arrangement.

When Dora alone accompanies Mario outside to the car, she hands him a letter to be read later; but when he decides to open it then and there, he is astonished to find out that she admitted to being David's mother!

La Fea Más Bella #85-86 11/11/10 Before and After

Today is Veterans Day, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended WWI and the day on which we honor our military veterans. Our deepest thanks to all of you have served in the armed forces.

Capitulo 85.Read Julie’s original recap which covers Cap’s 85 to 86. Then come back here to discuss it

Paula we miss you! At least we have your Before and After table and dialogue translation.

Capitulo 86.
Read Julie’s original recap which covers Cap’s 85 to 86. Then come back here to discuss it.

Paula made a table regarding the sequence of events in Cap 86. She says don't read this table from left to right. Instead, read down the left side and then up the right side, following the actual chronology.

Here is the link to dialog translations for these episodes. (This is a great dialogue translation and I hope you read it. And Paula was just learning Spanish? Wow.)

From Pata: Paula has a theme of how Fernando changes throughout this story and I think she calls it "Before and After". So I have the picture when they just enter the hotel room, then the second picture is just as they are leaving.

Pata, thank you for the screen shots. You nailed today's theme, nice job!

La Verdad Oculta EP41 11/10/2010 - I can hear the bells

* Juan José and Caramelo pay Elsa a visit and they ask her to take care of the cutest little telenovela girl ever while the big guy and Asunción have a business meeting. These two still act like a telenovela couple after the divorce and now they practice the passive-aggressive child custody part with shameless manipulation and pure bitchiness.

* In a luxurious bridal salon the Guillén sisters examine the wedding dress of Gaby who looks gorgeous. And thanks to David's generosity and deep wallet at last the humble kids can pick for a pretty dress for Julieta, too.

* In Sagitario Sir Leonardo, the knight in a shining armor (who's not only a cop but a lawyer, too) starts to bother a very displeased Carlos to discuss why he fired Julieta. He has witnesses who can testify Carlos treated her badly and it's obvious he discriminates against her, so be careful, next time he'll return as a cop. Oh, and give him back Juli's bag. Right. Now.

* Susana tells Marcos she met Carlos and he may help him.

* Caramelo is excited about her first school day though she isn't enthusiastic about going to be early. After she and Asunción leave JJ tries again to make peace with Elsa but they still can't or doesn't want to understand what her problem is. He doesn't want to give up his revenge plans either and can't enjoy his new, free, rich life either because he can't sleep peacefully until he gets back at those people who robbed so many years from his life. And he's confused, freedom is new for him. Elsa gets tired with the conversation and she says okay, that's it, she'll give him the freedom he loves so much.

* At home Gaby and Julieta talk about the wedding and the members of the Genovés household. Dora and Abelardo are very nice to her, Alejandra is lovely, but Bertha... eh, she's is intolerable. Doorbell. Carlos came to congratulate her and to give her a little gift. Don't worry, he doesn't intend to harm her, he'd like her to forget everything that happened. Gaby feels very uncomfortable but politely accepts the gift. Thanks, I have to go now... Moustache grabs her hand and pulls his best Clark Gable face: he wants her to be happy... and he would do anything to make her happy. Okay, thank you, BYE. Inside she opens the box and quickly hides the pretty ring Carlos gave to her.

Julieta tells Fausto she quit her job which makes Daddy very content. Doorbell again, David came for his wife again. This time Fausto welcomes him in a much friendlier way and outside the building the young couple rejoice over that at last he has accepted David. They share a sweet kiss... just when poor Leonardo arrives at home. The poor knight visits Fausto to deliver a wedding present for Gabriela, and to give Julieta her bag back. Daddy invites him to the wedding which he politely accepts. Julieta is very happy, then he may be her companion at the party!

* In the Genovés villa David and Gaby invite Dora to the wedding. She's important for David and he wants her to be with them at the ceremony. Dora melts.

* Marcos continues organizing his future transportation business. And when will he sell the diamonds, asks Susana. Tomorrow. Sue is curious about where the secret tunnel leads and suggests him to explore it.

* On her first working day Elsa talks to Mina on phone. She feels so strange, she's an awful receptionist, she doesn't know how to solve her tasks. Mina calms the panicking girl: don't worry, she'll do it fine! But anyway, she called her because needs to know where Sr. Ocampo lives. Inside the architect studio Mina gives Ale the address who can't hide her enthusiasm.

* At dawn Roberto shows up in the Ávila condo and admits Adolfo he got cold feet. He can't kill Mario, it's impossible! But the trap is set, and Adolfo will help him in every possible way. This is the opportunity of his life and he'll give him mucho, mucho dinero... 5 million pesos. Yolanda arrives and whines about the wedding. She doesn't want to attend it, but can't persuade Adolfo.

* Elsa picks up Caramelo at school and they spend the afternoon together.

* JJ, Asunción and Abelardo are in the hotel that JJ, I mean, Asunción bought and talk with the hotel's manager. All of them are very content about the successful transaction. Especially the boys who act like they were two enthusiastic ten years old boys. Abe has to leave, today is the wedding of David Genovés. Oh, really? JJ and Asunción would love to be present at the ceremony!

* The doorbell of the luxurious hotel apartment rings. Caramelo opens the door and she meets Alejandra who came to visit JJ. But instead of a dim hunk she gets an unfriendly and clever Elsa 2.0 who doesn't forget to mention that she lives there with JJ and no, she's not his secretary but his friend. Really, friends? That's interesting because the last time they met in her architect studio they didn't even recognize each other. Anyway. Then please tell your "friend" that I need to talk with him. Adios.

* Julieta dresses up the excited bride. Fausto is enchanted by his daughter and he is very proud of her but unfortunately he can't attend the wedding because he doesn't feel well. He asks Leonardo, who's also amazed at Gabriela's beauty, to accompany her in the church. After the girls leave Fausto starts to cry like a child.

* Mario calls Faustiago and the two weeping fathers - the heartbroken fugitive and the dying multi-millionaire have a touching conversation. Mario is sad about that Faustiago can't accompany their kid and tells him after the party he'll leave forever. He hopes one day Fausto will find out who murdered Marta.

* In the hotel room Asunción and JJ who are dressed up awesomely elegantly tell Elsa they are going to a... business meeting. JJ says the girls goodbye but his attempt to give Elsa a goodbye kiss on the cheek fails. So to infuriate her he kisses Caramelo loudly again, again and again. Come on, man, try to act like an adult.

* And here comes the wedding. The participant have arrived, JJ and Asunción meet Mario and David, Dora notices JJ and freaks out again, Mario is enthusiastic, Blondie is nervous like a little boy... And the bride is so lovely and beautiful that JJ can't take his eyes off of her.

Eva Luna #8 Wed 11/10/10 Every one loves Eva (well almost everyone)

Tonight was all over the place. I decided rather than do a complete one tomorrow and have to watch this whole thing over again to just do a quick outline of the events from the notes I took. I am hoping that everyone will feel free to add, correct or even add dialogue. My CCS were not working. I promise next wed I will have a complete recap with pictures. I just want to go to bed early and enjoy the Latin Grammy’s tomorrow night.

We start with where we left off last night with Eva trying to retrieve the pills she dropped on Leos bed. We get a very compromising scene as Renata walks in and doesn’t buy Eva’s innocence. She even rats to Marcella. Marcella tells Renata that she knows her son. Sooner or later he will tire of Eva and will fire her. Renate’s all in a major tizzy because Eva has won the hearts of everyone in the household. Including Mad Max. And Julio is so taken with her.

Speaking of, Eva is finishing lunch detail with him when he had one of those awful attacks. Max was outside the door for some odd reason. He sensed his masters attack and was going nuts barking like crazy. Old sympatric Renata noted he was barking out side the door and just told him to shut up and left. Eva was freaking out. She didn’t know what to do. Thank goodness the attack was over and Julio recovered. Oh dear.

Thomas is still missing. Everyone is beside themselves. Poor little Adrian does not want them to call the police. He runs away but is found by Knockout Ricky and persuaded to come back to the house. Our kind residents, Justa, Ricky and Marisol agree that they will all look after him. Adrian is certain that his father just left on a trip and forgot to tell him. Oh yea and Gangster Damien (?) is lurking in the shadows. So I am certain this will be trouble for our little family.

Alicia and Marisol do a little bonding. Marisol warns Alicia that Tony is trouble. Well we all know that.

We are now getting a little more plot line with our butler Francisco and Jacky the nanny. Francisco is talking to some women trying to impress her by having her believe he is wealthy. We find out that Jacky actually has the hots for him as she discusses her love interest with Laurita. Actually Laurita is giving her tips on how to catch a man. Smile and bring him coffee. Turns out Francisco‘s big date is a wash. He confesses this to Jacky. Unfortunately he also confesses that he could never be interested in a servant girl. Jacky‘s heart is broken.

A large bouquet of flowers arrives at the big house. Renata is convinced they were sent to Victoria. Turns out Bruno the charmer has sent them to smarmy Marcella. (gross). So she’s all excited about the prospects of a hot young stud. We know he has an ulterior motive as we see him talk with someone, who is just out of sight, that he is just interested in all her money. (Is that a gigolo?)

Leo is all about the great sexual chemistry he has with Claudia. They are getting ready to have a roll in the hay. He wants to make sure she is using protection. Of course she assures him and excuses herself to go to the ladies room. We see her take out her little contraceptive case and throw the little pill away. She has plans of her own.

Daniel has been in and out of business meetings. It turns out there is an award presentation for the great apple slogan. His secretary tells him they found the person who created the genius line that won them the award. Drum roll everybody …………. It turns out to be none other than our clever little Eva. Daniel just has to drive off in his orange convertible to Julio’s house to see Eva to make sure it is indeed her .

We also get a little confession from Eva while she is winning Julio’s heart as well as that of Mad max that she would love to be in some from of publicity or marketing. Julio assures her she will go far.

We end tonight with an awkward scene., Daniel has arrived at the mansion. Renata assumes he is there to see Victoria. He tells her that he is there to see Eva. That really ticks Renata off. Vicky shows up and is pleasantly surprised he is there and assumes it is to see her. He informs her he is there to see Eva. Eva walks in and it is confirmed she indeed is the person who submitted the winning line. He tells them she has to go to the awards with them. After all she was the inspiration. This does not sit well with Victoria.

Llena de Amor #65 Wed 11/10/10 Everything's Coming Up Roses....Not!

Okay. Seriously. Does Televisa sacrifice thousands of roses every time they do a love scene? Or do they just have a warehouse of fake rose petals somewhere? I hope it's the latter since every big romance has bedrooms (and tonight a restaurant) strewn with petals. The candle franchise is something else again.

But enough with the romance and roses. That's later. We start tonight's episode with one of those unfortunate scenes where someone gets the wrong idea, there's some useless babbling, and nobody listens to anybody. Emiliano interrupts the rehearsal with Netty and her nerdy lawyer. Thinks he's been duped. Doesn't listen to her attempts to explain. Tells her she's horrible and what's more, she ruined Gretel's life as well by supporting her romance with Oliver. Now Oliver's destroyed Gretel's life and Netty has ruined his. Stay away from me and our family forever! And exit Emiliano. Nice work.

Now another lovely scene. Lorenzo slinks back to his cell after learning of his baby son's alleged death, much to Orange Boy's amusement. However, Low looks so devastated, Orangey actually becomes concerned. From one cell to another, now we see Oliver. Trying to explain his actions to his boss. "I did it for love". Fine but you were "quebrando la ley" (breaking the law). We have to find Gretel so she can testify in your behalf that she wasn't kidnapped but went willingly. Oscar starts to dash off, intending to head out to Misery Manor and confront Fedra. But he's not going anywhere. Nopis. The Comisario slams the door shut and Oliver is locked in. Probably a good thing. That shoulder needs to heal.

Gretel, watched over anxiously by Nice Nurse, is still out and still strapped down on a stretcher. She comes to after Nice Nurse leaves though and quite lucidly realizes she's in an insane asylum. Get me out of here! she shrieks.

Our main shrieker, Netty, is beside herself. Lawyer Eugenio wants to fix it. He's her legal representative, and by golly he's going to make Emiliano learn the truth. Off they go to the big house.

Doris is already there, hanging out with Delicia and Paula and worrying about Mari's dondeabouts. Sassy little Delicia is hoping that she IS with Eman and that they're having a wonderful time!

And indeed they are. Our busy little Emanuel has reserved an entire restaurant just for him, Mari, some waiters and Luis Fonsi who's going to serenade them and wish them an eternal love. I'd be a bit more impressed if Fonsi hadn't just divorced his lovely wife of three years. Kind of ruins the sentiment of the song. But whatever. Serenade he does. Eman and Mari exchange some more soft-lipped kisses (Crankypants though I am, can't complain about the besos. Valentino Lanus is doing a great job.) and gooey schmarmy goshdarnit I'm in luv looks. Feeling slightly giddy and nauseated, we break for ads.

When we come back, we're at Misery Manor. Creepy theme music plays in the background. Creepy groveling by Emiliano in the foreground. It's all his fault but we can't leavel Gretel in that place. Oh yes we can, snaps Fedra. And mum's the word. Ditto for Kristel. Must keep up appearances, y'know. What are we going to say, that they're "on a trip" scoffs Emiliano. Not a bad idea. We'll say Switzerland. That's where all the "nenas popis" (posh young girls) go.

Brandon arrives. Ilitia close behind. Brandon wants to take Fedra and Bernardo down to the station to "assist the police in their inquiries" as the Brits say. Ilitia wants Emiliano to get her dad out of jail and lays her sweet head on his manly chest as she asks. Mientras tanto, Eman and Mari have arrived home. He's still keen on running away but she wants to face the music. We're strong and we love each other, she argues. So we can stand up to them.

Aaaaaaand...it hits the fan. Fedra, Axel and Ilitia are absolutely scandalized, horrified and sick sick sick that Eman spent the night with his fat cousin. Emanuel replies calmly that not only did they spend the night together, they're spending the rest of their lives together because......drum roll.....WE'RE MADLY IN LOVE.

Netty is having a hot flash. Fanning furiously. Fedra is fuming. It's all just too too much. We break for more ads.

We come back to a slew of insults. Ilitia calls Mari a fat fiancé stealer. Fedra dismisses her as a "conjunto de lipidos" (collection of fat). But that's not the worst of it. No, what worries Fedra is that Mari's going to end up with all their money if she marries Emanuel. And Axel is outraged that the fattie is destroying the family.

There's a break where Brandon pulls Ilitia out of the room, reminding her that she cheated on Emanuel with him, just as Emanuel cheated on her with Mari. So where does she get off causing a scene? He's sworn to secrecy. And goes along with it.

Back to the main fight. Eman wants to know why the family is destroyed. You'd know if you'd been around, rather that rolling in a bed with that slab of meat, sneers Fedra.

More drama. Ilitia is wailing that it's all "too much"remembering to say that in his posh little English. Her dad's in prison...her best friend's in the hospital.....

Fedra shuts her up. Agrees to go with Brandon to the station because she's going to see that Oliver is shut up in prison for the rest of his life. Slurping up a big swallow of booze through a straw, she prepares to leave.....

But not before Emanuel puts in the last dagger thrust. We're in love, he shouts, holding on to Marianela. Yes, LOVE! I want to marry her!

Okay. Time for that little Father-Son talk. Emiliano draws him aside and explains that since they're "primos hermanos" and the same blood flows in their veins, marriage is out of the question. Eman reminds him that it's the 21st century and there are tests for inherited diseases. They can reduce the risk of harm to their children. And if he has to give up the Ruiz y de Teresa name to marry his cousin...well, then he will!

In another room, we're having a little Aunt-Niece talk. Netty can't support this union. For one thing, Eman is the Son of the Serpent. And Fedra will kill you. Doris chimes in at this point and says Your love is condemned like that of Gretel and Oliver. You don't know what happened yet but....Ugh. While we ponder that painful memory, we trudge through another bunch of ads.

The talk continues. Listen, if you weren't first cousins, I'd be fine with your marrying Marinela, concludes Dad. Don't care, don't care. I'm staying with her, sez Son. Today is the worst day of my life, wheezes Emiliano. And Ilitia peers in the door. Wow, Emanuel is in for another verbal beating.

But we don't get to hear it yet. First we have the Netty misunderstanding to sort out. She's crying on her lawyer's shoulder when Emiliano arrives again, ready to throw her lying behindrear out the door. Not until the lawyer explains! Which he does. And Emiliano listens. And asks forgiveness. And doesn't get it. Nopis. You didn't believe in me, whimpers Netty. You said things that hurt me deeply. You didn't believe that Gretel and Oliver were deeply in love. So forget me forever! And she flounces out.

Doris is still trying to talk reason to Marianela. Oliver is in jail. Who knows where Gretel is. But if that's what Fedra did to them, imagine what she'll do to you!

And Ilitia is trying to talk reason to Eman....her Reason anyway. I mean how could he sleep with that fattie!? How could he throw her over for that gross piece of meat!?(lonjas y carne) Surely you couldn't have seen her nude and not have been completely disgusted! Emanuel wants to remain friends. No way. Hopefully you'll die, crushed by that tub of fat, she concludes.

Having communicated clearly in that room, Ilitia heads for an additional showdown with Mari. Doesn't go quite as well. She calls Mari a "zorra" (bitch) Delicia opines that maybe Eman was tired of an airhead model and that's why he fell in love with Mari. Delicia is then dissed as an "igualada" (uppity servant-class bitch). Warming to her discourse, Ilitia suggests that Manny just slept with Mari out of pity. So noble he had to do you a favor. AND THAT'S IT. RESOUNDING SLAP. Mari's going for Slap II but Doris breaks it up. And we break for ads.

Poor Low is resting his head against his cell walls, thinking back to the day he bought balloons for his baby boy and dreamed of the happy day he and Muñeca would adopt him. Or the happy day he'd have some henchmen murder his young mistress. Take your pick. Whadda guy.

Of course, wee babe has landed safely at the orphanage where Muñeca's noble maid and chauffeur have been helping out. When they see the medal of the Virgen de Guadalupe around the little guy's neck, they know the Holy Mother has saved him.

Back to the girls. Delicia's applauding the slap and mocking Ilitia's way of saying "Bye". Dead on. Mari's happily gushing about making love to Emanuel and regretting nothing. Doris isn't quite sure if it's love or lust. Mari's so upset she gets nauseous again. Is it the poison or pregnancy? Poison I guess. Speaking of....Axel arrives. Nope, he's not here to harangue her about the night out. He just wants to know why she's telling everyone he's gay. When in fact he's very manly. And ready to show any of you! And not only that, he's going to try and do everything he can to get rid of Mari. The fight is on.

Ditto for the General who's ordering Benigno to bring down the truant Marianela immediately. He's going to give her what for. But not until Paula sets him straight. Marianela and Emanuel love each other. And he's willing to defend his love. Unlike you, years ago, General! If you try and split them up, you'll be my Enemy. And I won't cook for my Enemy or cuddle him either. Okay. Serious threats here.

Serious promises elsewhere. The fatal kind you know. Always leads to Drama. Emanuel is vowing that Nothing Will Separate Us. I Love You. Anyone hear dun de dun dun's? Mari does. That's lovely but Fedra won't rest until she separates us, she replies. Hush darling, whispers Emanuel and covers her lips with his soft silky kisses. And on that tender note, we end.

Previews:
Emanuel vows to "luchar" for their love.
The General tells Emiliano he suspects that Emanuel is NOT his son.

Eva Luna #7 Tue 11/9/10 Too many novias and too many fake butts

Eva Luna Episode 7—November 9, 2010.

DISCLAIMER: As always, please everyone, fill in any blanks I missed!

We start this episode with Eva watching Daniel kiss his novia, Victoria. Eva understandably looks a bit crestfallen over this, considering the flowers and touching card Daniel just sent her.

Daniel sees Eva walking away and knows that she saw what she saw. He looks a bit crestfallen himself. I don't know why. Dude, you have a girlfriend already! Couldn't you see this coming?

Back at the Big House, Julio is asking Renata about La Bonita (Eva). He wants her to look after him all the time, only her. Renata agrees to this but does not look happy.

Bruno (hunky, hulky friend of Leo) is talking with Leo at the fashion show. He's saying how surprised he is by Leo's mom. So elegant! Bruno is pumping Leo for info—how is his dad doing? Leo obligingly explains that his dad has taken to his bed since he had an accident, and the mom looks after the business. They don't know whether the dad is going to recover, but . . . Bruno attempts to look sympathetic.

At the strip joint where Marisol works, old ex-boxer guy comes in, sees her dancing, and shakes his head mournfully. Behind him, Scary Guy with Hat is saying something about the old guy (I think he wants to get back at him for fighting him off earlier).

We're at a 7-11 type place with Alicia and Tony the Stud Burglar. He is being a (rhymes with stick) and stuffing cans of beer and candy in his clothes and also forcing them on Alica. Alicia doesn't look happy about this, but instead of NOT BEING AN IDIOT and telling him to stick his cans where the sun don't shine, she just looks worried but goes along with it. STUPID.

Bruno is sucking up to Marcy at the fashion show and she seems to be buying it. Slimy.

Leo is smooching his girlfriend and flattering her about her participation in the fashion show. Daniel sneaks off to look for Eva as Victoria (Bimbo 1, his girlfriend) is being interviewed by the press.

Tony the petty shoplifter—aka Stud Burglar—is at the checkout counter and only has a few items he's paying for. The clerk is suspicious, but Tony insists that's it. "How much is it?" Tony asks in English (and no trace of accent either!). The clerk gives an amount in Spanish. Alicia looks miserable and scared. Tony finishes his transaction and tries to drag Alicia along out of the store, but she balks and all the stuff that's been crammed in her clothes cascades out. "Security! Security!" the clerk yells (in English), as our two petty thieves run off. But Alicia doesn't make it and is detained by the clerk, as our hero Stud Burglar bravely runs off as she pleads with him to not leave her.

Eva is observing a time-honored telenovela tradition of talking out loud to herself about her innermost feelings in a public area, where anyone can walk on by and hear her. Of course Daniel walks by and hears her. She's saying, "Why were they kissing?" and Daniel, unseen by her until then, answers, "Because Victoria is my girlfriend." She swirls around, impactada, as the theme song swells and we go to commercial.

Stud Burglar Tony slinks in the shadows looking at Alicia being detained by the 7-11 people, but naturally does nothing. He does throw away his ever-present lollypop, though, which I suppose is meant to indicate his inner turmoil.

Back with Eva and Daniel. Eva is pissed, and asks Daniel how come he gave her flowers and a card when he already has a novia? Daniel tries to say that she and he still have to have a conversation, but she says, forget it buddy, go back to your girlfriend and leave me in peace!

Here are some screenshots from this scene:

At the 7-11, the clerk is speaking (in English) about how the shoplifters they caught, and how the security guard was "on top of 'em." (Again, no accent that I can hear!) Alicia sits on the curb and cries. "She's not going anywhere" the security guard says (in unaccented English). Alicia cries even more and begs to be let go, but the guard says that the police will come. "Why did you leave me, Tony?" she cries, as Tony hides in the shadows. Then he looks like he's decided swhat he's going to do.

Marisol goes back to her dressing room, and now it's her turn to talk out loud to no one in particular. She's tired of all of this. All the drunks. You're a phony, she says to the mirror as she wipes off her makeup. She invents rich boyfriends but she shows her body for money while she dreams of a better life. Old boxer guy from the pension walks in at this moment and hears her. If you want to change your life, do it, he says. She looks shocked but he gets to business. He's looking for Tomás, Adrian's dad. He's missing and the kid is sad, thinking that his dad has abandoned him.

Creepy hat guy comes in and confronts boxer guy and Marisol.

Back at the fashion show, Marcy (Gloved Weirdo) confronts Eva about tripping over the power cables earlier and causing the show to go dark when Victoria was on the catwalk. But Leo walks up and takes the blame. He is insistent. Eva gets out of there, and Marcy says that if Leo wants to tangle himself up with Eva, that's fine, just do it elsewhere.

Back to creepy hat guy and old boxer guy. Hat guy tries to hit boxer guy with something and they struggle.

Eva is outside walking away from the fashion show.

Bimbo 1 (Victoria) and Bimbo 2 (Claudia) are toasting champagne and talking about how great the fashion show turned out. Daniel walks up and joins them and pours himself a drink. He congratulates Victoria on her success as her furtively looks around the room (presumably for Eva).

At the pension, Adrian sleeps fitfully as Dona Justa looks on and talks to herself about her worries for the kid and for Ricardo (boxer guy).

Back with Ricardo (boxer guy) and Hat Guy who are going at it, and Ricardo is holding up pretty well until Hat Guy gives him a low blow and Ricardo goes down. Hat Guy approaches with a broken bottle and a threat, but just then Marisol comes at him with a gun.

Eva is trying to catch a bus but the bus passes her by. (The bus service in LA is rather sucky and they WILL pass you buy unless you are at an actual bus stop.) But Eva seems surprised by this and looks crestfallen when the bus goes by.

Back at the 7-11, Tony the Stud Burglar has finally gathered up his courage and approaches the security guard and Alicia. "Excuse me, Officer" he says in unaccented English. Alicia jumps up. Tony says that he's to blame for the theft and he put Alicia up to it, so please let her go. The security guard says they can both see the police, as the cop car is just then approaching.

Eva is walking down the street, asking herself how could she think Daniel would be interested in her. Up drives a car and stops. "You?" she says.

Everyone's trying to reason with Marisol as she shakily points the gun at Hat Guy. It discharges and she falls to the ground, as everyone looks impactado. (Correction: Someone else shoots a gun, it's not Marisol's that goes off. Thank you ladies for the correction!)

Daniel and Bimbo 1 & 2 continue the toast, as Bimbettes talk about watching their calories. Yawn.

It's Leo in the car and he gets out and offers Eva a ride. He asks her if she's angry with him, and she says a bit, but she's glad he told his mom the truth about what happened when she tripped over the power cables. He says that's his style, to be truthful. (GAG!) He presses her some more to take a ride.

It turns out Marisol got a flesh wound in her shoulder. Hat Guy is mad and warns her and boxer guy to not say anything to the police or they'll be sorry. (I think that's what he's saying.) Another stripper rushes in and Hat Guy shoos her away.

The store owner isn't going to press charges against Tony or Alicia. They are elated. The policeman yells, "Go, get out of here!" in somewhat accented English. The police think what happened is somewhat remarkable. (I think referring to Tony returning to try to save Alicia.)

Victoria and Daniel are at the party, and Victoria wants to get together with him privately later on. He seems agreeable to this.

Leo has driven Eva back home. She thanks him and he asks her to call him Leonardo. As they are chatting amiably, Tony and Alicia come up and Alicia sees Eva with Leo and assumes he must be Daniel. Then Tony asks that Alicia keep what happened that night with the shoplifting scare between them, and not tell her sister.

Back at the fashion show, Claudia is wondering where Leo is. She's called his cell a thousand times! (Wow, that's the way to endear yourself to a guy—stalk him via cell phone!)

Leo sees the messages on his phone. He is not amused by this.

Boxer guy is talking to Marisol about going to the police about her troubles, but she doesn't want to. Boxer guy promises he won't say anything to anyone.

Tony is at the pension, talking on the phone to scary gambling boss guy. He (Tony) says he got away and is fine. Scary gambling boss guy says something (I think) about how those beers he stole will be the payment he (Tony) was supposed to get. Scary boss guy says something about whether he decides to press charges or not. (I am getting a little confused here. Did he own the 7-11-type store?) Tony gets off the phone and then says something about how those beers were the most expensive (or dear? "caras" was the word used) of his life!

Marcy is chatting with Bruno. They're flirting with each other in a rather slimy, creepy way. Then they start talking about work. Turns out Bruno is into investments, and he is often traveling, looking for more business. They flirtily say goodnight, and then Bruno thought-bubbles, with a scheming smirk on his face, that everything is going perfectly.

Leo joins Clingy Claudia at a bar and she says that she doesn't want to interrogate him about where he's been, but he should know that she's jealous.

Back at the pension, Alicia and Eva are talking. Eva tells Alicia that the guy who dropped her off is not Daniel, but a joven from the house where she works. Alicia laughs and says that no less than two rich, handsome guys are at her (Eva's) feet! Eva is not amused. Eva says she found out that Daniel has a novia.

Meanwhile, said gentleman is in bed with said novia, trying to make a passionate evening of it. However, despite novia's best efforts, he seems distracted.

Alicia is disgusted and astonished to learn that the author of that card already has a girlfriend. Alicia could have sworn that he was in love with Eva! Nope, says Eva, looking disappointed.

Back with Daniel and novia, she finally asks him what's up, and he says he's just a little tired, that's all. She says that's okay, she's a teensy bit tired too. She snuggles up against him, as he remembers Eva chewing him out for sending flowers and a card while he's still got a novia. (Personal note: This scene in the bed was not shot in a flattering manner for Guy Ecker. Please Univision people, in the future, give him softer lighting or more smoothing filters, please! We—well, at least I—would prefer that he not look old enough to be Eva's father.)

It's morning at the big house, and Eva cheerfully says good morning to Marcy as Eva goes to give Julio his medicine. Marcy stops and looks particularly venomous at Eva, as if Eva is something that needs to be scraped off of the underside of her shoe.

Eva calls into Don Julio, asking if he's ready for his medicine. He is. She notes that Max (the big scary dog) is resting on his bed. He laughs and says that Max is now friends with them both.

At the breakfast table, Marcy is telling Renata that Eva is to blame for the fashion show fiasco, by tripping over the power cables. Blah blah blah. Marcy wants Eva outta there, but Renata has to tell her that Don Julio has specifically requested that Eva tend to him.

Victoria sees Eva outside of Don Julio's room. Much to Eva's surprise, Victoria is happy about the aforementioned fiasco with the power cables. Eva owns up that she was the cause of that fiasco.

Daniel is talking to an assistant at work about his schedule. A computer monitor is on. Ewww, it's still one of the old fashioned 4:3 (not widescreen) kind. (I'm such a techno-snob, LOL.) Assistant is saying that the internet is reporting that the fashion show was a success. Daniel seems distracted, and assistant notices this. He explains that he's got a lot of things going on in his head. (Well, it's more like one thing, and it is spelled E-V-A.)

Victoria says she knows that Eva caused the fiasco, and she's decided to forgive her because (I think) everything turned out so well for her (Victoria). Eva then talks about how she got a ride home with Leo, and Victoria seems impactada that her brother would bother to give Eva a ride. You can see the wheels turning in Victoria's head.

In the kitchen, Renata tells Eva in the snottiest, most ungracious way possible that she is to go shopping for some fruit for Don Julio.

Eva is picking up fruit at an outdoor market. Meanwhile, as we should have anticipated, Daniel is nearby drinking drinks with what I assume are work associates. Back with Eva, the chauffeur lets her stay a little longer because they're near the beach and she's never been to the beach.

Bimbette 1 and 2 (Victoria and Claudia) are chatting. Victoria is warning Claudia that Leo seems to be shifting his attention towards a servant, Eva.

At the beach, Eva is admiring the ocean and looking beautiful. She recalls seeing Daniel kiss his novia at the fashion show. She thinks to herself that it hurt to see them kissing because she's foolishly allowed herself to fall for him, but that's going to end. She's not going to think about Daniel anymore. Well, speak of the devil, here comes Daniel walking along the same beach, as the theme song plays in the background. "What are you doing here?" she asks as we go to break.

The two fake-butted bitches (Bimbo 1 and Bimbo 2) are talking about Eva. Victoria (Bimbo 1) is conceding that while Eva doesn't have the education or class that they (the aforementioned fake-butted bitches) have, she does have a certain charm. Of course her Daniel would never be interested in such an inferior creature (okay I added that last bit, but you know that's what Victoria's getting at). But would Victoria's brother Leo be interested in this lower form of life (aka Eva)? Sure.

Claudia mentions that she couldn't reach Leo by cell phone. She says all of this is getting to her pride. She seems cansado with it all. Victoria advises that if she loves Leo, fight for him! Especially don't lose him to a mere employee like Eva! (She's certainly showing her snobbery now, isn't she?) Victoria then goes on to say that if her Daniel was interested in someone like Eva, she (Victoria) would be fighting mad and would kill the girl! (We see what's coming, don't we?)

And now we go back to Daniel and Eva at the beach. She's telling him that in her hometown they had mountains and apples, but no beach, so she's never seen the ocean before.

Daniel wants to talk about stuff, but Eva says there is nothing to talk about. Daniel asks her, why did it bother her to know that he and Victoria were novios? Why was she bothered to see them kissing? She then asks him, why, if he's got a novia, did he give her a card and flowers?

Leo is chatting with Renata in the kitchen. He says he's tired from the party the night before and he's not going into work.

Eva says to Daniel, you stay in your world and I'll stay in mine. He asks how come they keep on fighting? She says because there is much to separate them.

Renata is telling Leo that his girlfriend (Claudia) has been calling him and hopes to get a response. He seems peevish about this.

Adrian and old boxer guy are at a police station looking for Adrian's dad. No luck.

Eva has returned from the beach and her fruit-buying excursion and meets Leo. They make pleasant small talk. He says he has a headache from the party the night before.

At a hospital, boxer guy and Adrian are looking for his dad. No luck.

Eva goes into Leo's bedroom. He's sprawled across his bed, lying on top of the covers and fully clothed. She's delivering some headache medicine for him. He asks her to bring the pills to him.

Boxer guy asks Adrian if there was anyone else—a friend of the family, perhaps—that his father might have visited? Adrian doesn't seem to know of any. Boxer guy asks Adrian (I think) if he's sure he wants to get his dad back. Adrian says yes, he's the only person he has. Boxer guy nods and says it's time for them to go back home.

Eva comes over to Leo's bed to give him the pills. The pills drop on the bed and as she crouches over Leo to retrieve them, in walks Renata, looking scandalized because it "looks" like Eva and Leo are having an intimate moment. Leo doesn't seem at all bothered by this.

My recording cut out here, so I have no advances.

Thanks!
Elvira

Llena de Amor #64 Tue 11/9/10 You can’t always get what you want…unless you’re Emanuel.

Marianela and Emanuel cool off from their hot night with a stroll through the woodsy park where they used to play as children. Emanuel promises Mari that he’ll always be there for her and says he wants to marry her someday. Mari starts to agree, then stops abruptly. Their family will never accept it, the problem being, of course, that it’s FAMILY, singular. “Just think what my name would be…Marianela Ruiz y de Teresa de Ruiz y de Teresa!” Emanuel laughs and says that’s sexy. He likes it. Kissy kissy. Mari thinks it’s time they head home, but Eman takes off running through the trees and says she’ll have to catch him first. She says they’ll get lost again. He says good, he wants to get lost and never go back.
Over at the hospital, Fedra is off on her usual tirade against Netty and rather emotionlessly asking Emiliano why he’s necking with this slut while their daughter is dying. Netty takes her leave, and Fedra wants to go give Kristel hell for daring to get pregnant. Emiliano stops her and says to leave her alone. It’s much worse than a simple miscarriage; they had to do a hysterectomy. Then he has to tell Fedra what that word means.
Netty goes to the hospital chapel for a chat with San Antonio. She’s upset that she gave up her career for so many years in exchange for an impossible love, and it seems she’ll end up with neither. I’m not sure ol’ Tony ever signed that contract. Anyway, Netty wants a little miracle of some kind. Her phone rings. It’s someone from the office of Ezekiel Zapata, a producer who wants Netty to be in his next telenovela. The auditions are tomorrow morning, early. Netty remembers to thank San Antonio profusely before she heads out to pick up the audition materials.
Brandon’s at the station, telling Comisario Tejeda that Oliver committed a little crime, sure, but so did Fedra and Bernardo. Tejeda agrees and tells him to extend a friendly invite to the gruesome twosome to come in for a chat. If they refuse, they’ll feel free to deal with them as criminals. Tejeda says he’ll take charge of Oliver’s issues himself, and he doesn’t appreciate Brandon’s advice on how to do his job. Maybe Tejeda has multiple personalities. One of them loves Brandon, and the other hates him.
Ilitia arrives as Tejeda leaves. Brandon makes a big show of being too busy to look at her. She asks him (quietly, and without any whining, hard to believe) if he won’t help her at all with her father’s situation, especially considering that the two of them… True to his word, this naco gentleman pretends not to know what she means, but he finally looks at her and says simply that the judge is going to give the order to move Lorenzo to prison any minute now.
Lorenzo and Mauricio are in the hoosegow, stewing in their own vileness. A guard comes and takes Lorenzo away. Low gloats that his wife and daughter must have gotten him the best lawyer, and he’ll be free and clear while Agent O rots away there forever. The orange one yells that he will regret this.
Fedra frets. Now that Kristel has had that histerie, hister…that thing so she can’t have children, no one will want to marry her! “How can you be thinking of marriage when she just nearly died?!” Emiliano snaps. Fedra whines that she’s always just thinking of her children, and a woman with no womb is not a woman. Ummm. Emiliano blinks but realizes there’s no point trying to reason with Fedra’s short-circuited brain. He asks her where she was all night while he was here. Fedra claims she went to rescue their kidnapped daughter Gretel from that monstrous degenerate poli. Emiliano angrily says Gretel wasn’t kidnapped; she was in love and happy for the first time ever. Fedra claims she found Gretel tied up naked in a filthy room full of rats, raped and completely crazy. “You’re lying!” Fedra calmly continues…that poli just took what he wanted and left Gretel to die. It’s a good thing her dear mama arrived in time. Emiliano says that can’t possibly be true but he’s crying at the thought. Fedra gives him the address of the manicomio and tells him to go check for himself how bad she is.
Gretel is restrained in bed, crying and remembering the few good days she had with Oliver, when he told her he would never leave her, and then when he was shot and she thought he was dying. She asks him to forgive her. Doctor Doom and the orderlies come in and haul her off to electroshock. She protests bootlessly.
Nereida’s back in the laundry room, which has been repaired since the fire. Axel asks her where she got the idea that he is gay. She says it’s what people said, and no, she does not care to ask his girlfriend for evidence to the contrary. Axel demands to know who exactly told her, and Nereida claims it was Marianela. Axel is furious at his beastly cousin and storms off to demand satisfaction. Nereida smirks.
Marianela and Emanuel are lounging around in the woods. Marianela wants to use Eman’s phone to call Netty, but he claims there’s no signal here and the battery is dead. She knows that’s a lie, and also that Netty and everyone is probably very worried about her. He admits he just doesn’t want their perfect day to end yet, then employs his smoooove moves of seduction to get her to agree.
Fedra calls Dr. Doom to alert him that Emiliano is on his way and must find Gretel in the worst state possible. Dr. Doom reminds her of the charge for this service. Fed says Spiderus is all over it.
Oliver is finally getting some medical treatment, also the old-fashioned way. He’s on the couch at the pensión with the ladies looking on, biting a pillow for the pain as Doctor Arnaldo digs the bullet out of his shoulder. Gladiola thinks he should be knocked out for this. Oliver says he needs to be alert and asks the doctor to hurry so he can go. Doc says where Oliver needs to go is to the hospital. Oliver screams and bites his bloody hand as the doctor continues butchering him. Doris helpfully tells him to be macho and quit screaming and crying.
Over at the station, Brandon tells Ilitia her father committed a very serious crime. She says that’s a lie. Her daddy is good, and also rich. He doesn’t need to traffic contraband. Brandon says maybe it’s just a hobby, then, but the fact is, he’s a criminal. Ilitia insists Brandon is making the whole thing up to blackmail her into his bed. He indignantly says his work is sacred, and he only ever takes women to bed because they want to go. Anyhoodle, he is too busy for this chatter. He’s got to head over to Misery Manor. What a coincidence; she’s going there, too.
Lorenzo asks his lawyer why his wife isn’t there. The lawyer knows nothing about his wife; he was hired by León Garduño. Apparently Garduño thinks he owes Lorenzo one. Lorenzo wonders why. He spoke to Baldomero and Basurto and they said it was a clean job and they had his son. The lawyer says it was a clean job, but unfortunately the baby died.
Elsewhere, the big boss is yelling at the two thugs, who are throwing the blame around. Fittingly, Baldomero is the bald one, and Basurto is the one who threw the baby out like basura. Garduño is furious at what this might mean to his hot hooch biz. He says it’s best to tell Lorenzo the kid is dead, but Baldy and Bas had better look under every rock and find him.
Barf. Axel and Lorena are in swimwear by the pool, and he’s giving her a massage to ease the stress of her useless existence. Then she decides he needs a massage, too, because he must be so tense over Kristel’s trauma. He says that’s not all; he’s also worried because Gretel has vanished. Lorena says Gretel’s fine; she just left with her boyfriend. Well, Axel is ALSO worried because Emanuel and Marianela seem to have vamoosed together. Lorena says yeah, and will there ever be fireworks when Ilitia finds out. What fun! But wait, there’s more…Axel is ALSO worried because everyone seems very surprised to hear that Lorena is his girlfriend. Why do they all say that Axel doesn’t like women?
Kristel has woken up and is crying and fussing, wondering where she is. Fedra coldly says she’s in the hospital, and it’s her own stupid fault. Fedra snarls that the good news is that she’s not pregnant anymore, but the bad news is that she’s no longer a woman and she will die an old maid, broken and empty. Bet you all didn’t know that a hysterectomy came with a free sex change and a severing of all the nerves and muscles that would allow you to sign a marriage license. Doctor Carlos will corroborate. Maybe Emiliano needs to explain that word to Fedra one more time. Kristel cries some more.
Oliver is patched up and wants to go arrest Spiderus, but Doctor Arnaldo tells him he has to rest. The ladies team up to force him to stay put. He cries that he wants to go find Gretel. The ladies tell him to wait for Netty. She can ask Emiliano where they’ve put Gretel. Netty arrives just then, but she’s accompanied by Tejeda. Tejeda tells Oliver he’s under arrest. This is absurd.
Emiliano tries to talk to Gretel. She’s in quite a state. Emiliano asks her who hurt her. She hugs him and rambles about someone who wants to hurt her and is a murderer. Naturally, Emil thinks she’s talking about Oliver. He says that bastard is going to pay. Gretel freaks out more and the doctor sedates her. Emiliano cries.
Oliver tells Tejeda he’s got to find Gretel before Fedra kills her. Tejeda is robotically obstinate because the writers couldn’t be bothered. He’s got to arrest Oliver; that’s the law! He gets out the handcuffs. Oliver says he’ll take responsibility for his actions, but no cuffs, please. He’s not some delinquent. Tejeda finally agrees. Off they go. All the ladies cry. Then Doris tells Netty that Mari has been gone since the pageant and they have no idea where she is. Doris offers to go look for her.
Fedra is still campaigning for that Mother of the Year award. Kristel insists that Mauricio loves her and will still want to marry her even if she can’t have children. Fedra says that’s nonsense. He’s a slimy ratbastard. What did he do when he found out Kristel was pregnant? Did he offer to marry her then? {Fedra utterly fails at logic.} Kristel cries that Malicio was just nervous. I’m almost feeling bad for Kristel. She’s obviously in a great deal of pain and misery, and her mother keeps heaping on the torment. Fedra mutters that the whole family is a bunch of disappointments. The only one who will never let her down is Emanuel. He knows what he wants, and he doesn’t stop until he gets it. {If only she knew…yeah, as many candles and kisses and deep meaningful looks of amooooooor as it takes, he will get what he wants.}
Emanuel and Marianela flirt and kiss some more amongst the trees. Mari jumps on his back and he nearly collapses. Har har. They go into the church and smooch at the altar. They throw flower petals all over themselves outside and kiss some more. Practicing the wedding, now that they’ve already started practicing for the honeymoon, I guess.
Lorena convinces Axel that everyone who says he’s gay (a word he can’t bring himself to pronounce) is just a lying gossip. Especially his nasty cousin Marianela. She’s just out to get the whole family.
Emanuel tells Mari they’re going to have the most beautiful wedding ever, and she will be the most beautiful bride in the whole world. Would she prefer the cathedral, or this little chapel? Hold yer horses, buckaroo, she says. They need to go home. He says they should go out to eat. She says they just had quesadillas. In that case, he counters, they should exercise. She thinks they’ve been stalling long enough. “Do you like horses? Have you ever ridden?” is his answer to that. Then he steamrolls her protests.
Netty tells Gladiola about the audition, but says she can’t focus on it what with everything else going on. Glad tells her this is the perfect distraction. She’s got to jumpstart her career, and besides, Mari is surely fine. Netty pulls out the script and sees that the scene is with a man. Who could possibly help her with this? “You called?” asks her lawyer, walking right in to the unsecured house.
Lowrenzo’s lawyer tells him to claim that Agent Orange deceived him, and he didn’t know the business he was investing in involved bootleg booze. Lowrenzo can only think of his baby. He tells the lawyer to tell Garduño he won’t be placated with free legal services. He wants the heads of the idiots who killed his child.
Netty and her lawyer (sorry, I cannot remember his name right now) rehearse the scene. She’s begging him to leave his wife. He says he can’t. She says get out of my house, then. Emiliano walks in just in time to hear the lawyer say he can’t leave Netty, and he especially can’t let her go back to THAT guy. “That guy is an imbecile! He means nothing to me! I only love you!” Netty says. “Netty! What is the meaning of this?” demands Emiliano.
Emanuel and Marianela ride horses. They carve their initials in a heart in a tree. Poor tree. They smooch some more. Yadda yadda yadda.
Tomorrow: Marianela and Emanuel go out for dinner and Luis Fonsi sings for them, while everyone gathers in Misery Manor and wonders where in tarnation they are. They finally show up and announce that they are in love. Many vapors are had.
