La Verdad Oculta EP118 03/03/2011 – Lies and reputations

* Instead of killing the hostages Adolfo shoots Dante’s gorillas then the whole band leaves by helicopter. In the meantime poor, shattered, devastated *Viewerville: and absolutely adorable* David is suffering and torturing himself at home. His mother comforts him and tries to ease his pain but he’s enraged: his innocent wife and child are in mortal danger! It isn’t fair, it isn’t fair!

* In the kitchen Ramona and Abelardo are discussing Bertha’s character: the maid doesn’t believe she would change ever, Abe decided to defend and trust her. They don’t notice she stands in the door and hears every word they say. Abelardo, the butler with a golden heart tries to ease Bertha’s guilt and she apologizes and hugs him.

* Juan José gives David the shoes, the diamonds and the photo he found in the warehouse. Something had to happen to the bad boys because it’s very unlikely they would’ve left something that important back. However, David thinks they’re useless now, because Adolfo committed bigger crimes than smuggling. And what about negotiating with him, asks JJ. First they have to find him, answers David.

* In the Ávila condo the police managed to open Adolfo’s safe at last. Lionheart and Ramón find the two rings, and they are glad that they have enough proofs against Adolfo. Then Leo reads one of the documents and his jaw drops. Qué barbaridad!

* In the casa Genovés gasping Limón and wise Abelardo confess to Caramelo that bad men did kidnap Gaby and Alejandra, but they promise her her tías will be back at home soon. In the study Yolanda confesses to Santiago that the last time when she told him about Marta she, well, didn’t tell the truth. She thought he was Mario, the man she loved so much and the good old jealousy was killing her. But now she has to tell the truth. Marta wasn’t a bad woman.

* Hottietecto shows up at the architect studio and learns from Mina, who’s worried to death, that Gabriela and Julieta were kidnapped, too. The two decide to visit JJ who must have some news. But what about that feud between Mr. Pumpkinhead and Mr. Ex-Rivera? Whatever happened, happened, says Mau, this situation is more important than their rivalry, and he wants to help JJ. After all, he’s a good man and Alejandra is his friend.

* In the study Faustiago can’t believe his ears. Really? She was a good woman? Would a good woman abandon her own son? Yolanda says Adolfo forced Marta to leave the boy because he didn’t want people to realize they produced a child together. Faustiago still feels horrible. Yolanda. Do you think Marta loved me once? Yolanda nods, yes, actually, she’s sure Marta loved him much. She loved to watch him playing on stage and she always told Yolanda he was the best man on Earth. But what about Mario and Adolfo? Mario was an intense love, but she knew they wouldn’t have any future together. As for Adolfo, Marta was young and she had no idea what kind of man he was. Is Yolanda lying again? To make him think better of his deceased wife? No, she can’t lie anymore. Marta was just a woman who was looking for love for a long time and when she finally found happiness on Santiago’s side… she was murdered.

* The two young architects arrive at the house of the depressed, brooding dragon and learn that he knows nothing about the lost princess. But there’s one thing Mina should know, Carlos has been kidnapped, too. He couldn’t sleep all night, he was thinking about Adolfo’s motivations. He most likely wants to negotiate with them, that’s why he took the women, but why the hell does he need Carlos, too? Mina says Carlos mentioned her about a seaside villa and JJ gets excited at last. He asks her to call Leonardo and tell him everything. *Viewerville: That’s it! The “use the damned telephone” gene is finally starts to evolve!* While Mina is talking on phone Mauricio hesitatingly tells Juan José he broke up with Elsa. It took him time to realize she didn’t love him and she couldn’t accept JJ wasn’t in love with her. JJ hardly hears his words and doesn’t really care about their so-called love triangle, but thanks to Mauricio for visiting and supporting him. Mina returns to the men and the three starts to speculate about the mysterious house. Mau says if it’s so far away Adolfo probably had to take a flight. No, JJ doesn’t thinks so, Dolphie doesn’t have permission to fly anymore. But… Geez! The bad boys must’ve used a helicopter! Garnica’s helicopter!

* At AFI Leonardo gets a phone call from David who tells him about the helicopter and the two Musketeers send him the photos of the vehicle by fax. Ramón, who notices how nervous his boss is tells him not to worry. They’ll find Julieta.

* In the garden of the Genovés villa Bertha confesses to Dora she would’ve preferred to be kidnapped than being free but unable to help and save the hostages. She was an idiot for not realizing in time what kind of man Adolfo was and she feels guilty for being alive while the people she loves are in danger. Dora comforts her.

* The helicopter arrives at the seaside wondervilla. *I. Want. That. House.* Sweating, grumpy Adolfo orders the ugliest goon to lock the hostages up. While nervous Édgar and Valentín are in the kitchen, Dolphie admits to Dante he will get rid of them. Does he want to kill the women and his son, too? Adolfo doesn’t answer. And… What about me? Adolfo stares at him silently and Dante’s blood freezes.

* Bertha’s self-torture is interrupted by flirty Chicles and friendly Caramelo who mentions once they and tía Yolanda were kidnapped, too.

* In the seaside house Dante, who suspects he’s in mortal danger, tries to get new friends, so he asks a cigar from the other underdogs, aka Psycho Eddie and Val. He needs Valentín to take him by helicopter to the high seas, where he may meet a ship that belongs to his American friends. But don’t say a word to Adolfo! The two goons are laughing at him not-so-secretly, but they calm him down, but don’t worry, patron, they’ll keep his secret. And where’s the map from Garnica safe? Map? Yes, the map with the location of the archeological goodies. Actually, Eddie keeps it in his wallet… but wait, it isn’t there anymore! Oops. After nervous Dante leaves them, Valentín tells Édgar Sevilla’s plan is stupid since the helicopter doesn’t have enough fuel. What should they do? The goons start to panic, they have to find out something and get the hell out of that rock.

* King Adolfo’s lunch is interrupted by Ugly Goon, who actually has conscience. He doesn’t like to treat young Carlos like that, after all, he’s Ávila’s son! Armed Adolfo takes crazy to a new level: threats, shouts, glasses, food and saliva fly around. You have to obey me! You have to! All right, boss, all right, all right.

* Ulises calls JJ and tells him he found a strange paper in her sofa which most likely was left there by that hypocrite Édgar. JJ, who’s all ears, asks him to bring it to the Genovés villa.

* Ugly and Loyal Goon asks tied, tired Carlos if he needs anything. Yes, set him free. No, he can’t do that, Adolfo will kill him if he betrays him. Moustache tries to convince him Adolfo is completely mad, he kidnapped his sisters and JJ’s wife! Yes, he has a sister, but it’s a long story. The two remember back the summers Carlos spent in the villa when he was a kid and Ugly Goon’s heart finally melts. He may help Carlos to escape, but what could he do? He can’t walk to the next village to ask for help, it’d take two days and Adolfo would kill the women. But Carlos’s old ATV is still there, he could use that. Carlos’s grateful, but he starts to worry about Ugly Goon. Oh, don’t worry for him, he’ll made up a good story and explain the situation to Adolfo. Speaking of Adolfo, he finds very suspicious the long conversation between Ugly and Carlos.

* The three ladies are locked up in one of the bedrooms. Julieta’s lost her nerve already, she screams nobody will find them there. Alejandra hugs her and tries to calm her down. They’ll be saved… or they’ll find a way to escape. In the meantime Gabriela realizes she acted like an idiot with David and she collapses, too. Mommy Ale leaves Juli and now comforts Gaby: when they arrive at home she and David will reconcile, please don’t torture herself. They have to stay calm because hysteria won’t help them any! Think about her baby, in a few months she’ll have a wonderful child, and that child will need a strong and vigorous mother.

* In the study the boys tries to find out what the paper Ulises gave them means. By the way, how does he know it belonged to Édgar? Because Psycho Eddie was the only person who visited him lately. While Ulises is brooding about his lack of social life and David is calling Leo, Juan Indiana Jones José realizes the numbers on the paper are coordinates.

* Eddie and Valentín accidentally overhear Adolfo’s conversation with one of his goons called Alejo. Dolphie promises 1000 pesos to Alejo for murdering Ugly Goon.

* Daddy Leonardo is interrogating the kids, the nasty one, who just cynically laughs at his attempts of investigations, and the nervous one, who tries to act like the good boy. Leo decides to take the evidences with himself. After he leaves, JJ drops a tantrum and David head is about to explode, too.

* Édgar tells Ugly Goon Alejo wants to kill him that night. Ugly grabs him and says Alejo is his buddy, he wouldn’t hurt him! All right, all right, think what you want.

* Leo calls David and tells him the coordinates on Eddie’s map locate a place in the state of Tabasco. Any idea what Adolfo would do there? Nothing. David tells the news to JJ who thinks maybe Bertha knows more about Adolfo’s businesses.

* Late in the evening the Psycho in the shining armor strangles Alejo and saves Ugly’s fat arse from being shot. Is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship? Inside the house Ugly releases Carlos and tells him Val and Ed will help him escape on his ATV. On the beach our goons give Carlos a high five and wish him luck. The boy starts the old vehicle and rides away in the night. Viewerville: Who cares about William in a kayak when we have Carlos on an ATV? Come on, muñeco!*

La Fea Más Bella #237-238 3/3/11 Lety's persecution complex, and a breath of fresh air.

Capitulo 237.
Read Alma’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. The witches trick Ali into staying late. They practice on the roof and play in a hall of mirrors.

2. Fern makes a fuss over Carla’s call, so in Lety’s fantasy Fern kisses a faceless Carla passionately, the board laughs at Lety, she comes out fighting, and Fern says that her jealousy shows that she loves him. Aldo says that since she can’t forget about Fernando, she’s lost him (Aldo) and the love he offers. They all laugh her to scorn. Out of the fantasy, as revenge against Fern, Lety gives Aldo the seat of honor which had been Tom’s.

3. Luigi tells the board his grand vision for the show. Tom asks how much it will cost and Luigi throws a fit.

4. Fern jumps up with a suggestion for the book presentation. Make it a Trojan Horse which enters through the gates, and Aldo pops out. Aldo says he should pop out with a roasted PIG (he gets in Fernando’s face) and an apple crammed in its mouth. Cómo te parece, Sr. Marrandiola? (Marrano = pig.)

5. PG drags Fern into Lety’s office and says he can feel the bad energy. They need to make good energy at work. They need fountains, plants, and the right kind of lights.

6. Tom offers Ali a ride in the MB. She refuses until he offers to let her drive. At her door, he offers to pick her up in the morning and she rudely refuses, but later wishes she had accepted.

I love the gift exchange scene! Saimon brings Fern the fountain from storage.

.

.

Hearing Lety, Fern vaults the divider to hide.

.

.

Lety thanks Saimon for getting the bonsai, and she asks if Fern left. She doesn’t want Fern to find out that it was from her. Fern comes out from hiding and says, “You wanted to give me the plant, and I wanted to give you this fountain.” Saimon says they should hug.

Ecstasy! Fernando hugs Lety,

and then Lety hugs Fernando.

They exchange gifts and Fern asks what she was doing with Aldo at SMR. Lety says he has no right to criticize, considering his time with that NY woman. Fern asks if she’s jealous, and she puts on a laugh and denies it. She asks him the same thing, and he mimics her laugh and denial, then says, “Why should I be?” He says he doesn’t want her gift, but a friend’s grandmother told him it’s rude not to accept a gift. Lety puts her fountain on the credenza behind her and pretends she doesn’t care. Fernando makes no such pretense.

Capitulo 238.
Read Julie’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Aldo asks Luigi to do makeovers for the cuartel. Luigi tells Aldo he’s going too far (no te pasas). Aldo sweet talks and flirts until Luigi agrees.

2. Lety wishes the book inscription was from Fern. He comes in to introduce Lety to Carla and catches her gazing at the fountain. Lety is snarky to him again. Carla and Lety chat; most of the conversation is under the surface. Lety is on the defensive and interprets everything Carla says as an attack, insult, or condescension. Carla flatters Lety on the campaign concept and tells her that Fern never stopped talking about her. Carla says, “You fell in love with him, didn’t you?” I’m not sure what Carla’s game is. Lety insists that it was all just business.

3. Carla tells Fern he must’ve hurt Lety very much. How? He says, “I used Lety to save my company and along the way I fell in love. Later she discovered that I had used her from the beginning, lied about love, and betrayed her.” Omar drools over Carla. Fern mocks him while he tries to flirt.

4. Omar tells Fern he needs to forget about Lety and enjoy Carla’s attention. Fernando’s not paying attention so Omar reaches for the bonsai and Fern panics. Omar wants the locker room version of the story of Carla, and Fern can only shake his head in disgust and leave because Omar has no respect for women.

5. Boring cuartel makeover stuff. Luigi hears that Aldo gave Lety the book and he throws a fit. He answers Aldo’s phone and takes a message that the book delivery will be late. Boring Saimon / Paula stuff.

6. Fern and Carla enter the vortex and Aldo paws at Lety possessively. Lety is snotty toward Fern. The men step toward each other and the women pull them off. Lety is snotty some more. Remember that Lety used to be kindhearted, even to Marcia? The cuartel tells Lety to forget about Carla being since she has Aldo. It’s not working.

7. Lety teases Robopop for paying so much attention to Carla. He says, “I’ve never looked at another woman since I met the beautiful Julieta Solis. I’ve never betrayed her, neither by thought nor deed, even though there are temptations everywhere.” Those Solis women have that effect on men, huh?

8. Ali angles for an invitation to the expo, but Lety says she needs to stay and wait for her boss, Marcia.

9. Luigi reads the inscription in the book Aldo gave to Lety.

Eva Luna #82 Wed 3/2/11 Confessions 101

We start out where we left off last night. Daniel and Eva with a gorgeous ocean back drop. He is telling her to admit that she still loves him. Then we get a kiss that lasts for most of the first ten minutes interspersed with scenes of Leo and Marcella, and Renata and Julio.

Leo is outraged that Marcella could have given Victoria sleeping pills to make it look like she wanted to kill her self and asks her how she could do such a think. She tells him with great cunning [astucia/ cleverness or cunning or guile.] Leo tells her she risked Victoria’s life. Marcella assures him she had everything calculated to perfection. Leo asks what if something went wrong. He tells her he thought her children were the most important thing in his life. Here comes confession number one as Marcella says “You said my children, but that only includes you. Victoria is not my daughter.”

Lets get a closer look at that kiss.

Renata is visiting Julio. She asks if Justa has been by to see him. He tells her no. She is still avoiding him. Renata tells him it is probably out of respect for her husband and suggests he forget about her. Julio tells her she knows he can’t forget about her. She says there is something he hasn’t told her yet. She wants to know why he faked his death. Julio gives her a smirk filled smile.

Adrian is playing ball in the yard with a friend. Thomas is hiding behind a tree plotting to snatch him. The ball gets away from him and he goes to retrieve it.

Confession number two, with Alicia confessing how stupid she is. Well that isn’t what she said. She is whining to Marisol about her looser lover Leo who is soon to be Eva’s lousy looser husband. Marisol tells Alicia that she needs to tell Eva that Leo is her lover. She also tells Marisol that her mother showed up.

Adrian is retrieving the ball as Thomas grabs him. But not without a fight. He tells Thomas he does not want to go with him because he is bad and hits him. His buddy sees all this go down.

Adrian continues to struggle. Who says there is never any police when you need them, as we hear police sirens and see a squad car driving towards them. This spooks Thomas as he lets go of Adrian and Adrian runs off. Our gallant young friend has gone to get help and we see Adrian running into Justa’s out stretched arms. He tells her his father was there and tried to take him.

Julio tells Renata he did it so he wouldn’t die for real. Renata tells him she doesn’t understand. He says it isn’t that complicated. If he hadn’t faked his death he wouldn’t be alive today. Renata seems perplexed by this. He tells her someone was planning on killing him. She asks who? He says Marcella. Renata can’t believe her ears. He tells her she was killing him, by slowly poisoning him.

Leo is still having a hard time believing Victoria is not his sister. Marcella tells him she was adopted. He wants to know why she never told him. She tells him there wasn’t any reason to until now. Leo wants to know if Victoria knows. She tells him of course not and warns him not to tell her.

Renata is also having a hard time believing Julio. She asks why Marcella would poison him. He tells her it was for money. He was in Marcella’s way. Renata asks how he found out. He asks her if she remembers about the medicine that he was given religiously in his coffee? He tells her he realized it when his faithful friend Max accidentally drank it and died. That’s when he started to think the worse. That’s why he asked her to take the bottle to Dr. Garcia who confirmed it was pure poison.

Eva and Daniel have stopped for a moment to catch their breaths. More heavy breathing more soft music and Daniel telling Eva he loves her and needs her. Eva protests weakly as Daniel tells her how many times he has dreamed of this.

Julio tells Renata that Marcella had it carefully planned out. She was using the young women she hired to take care of him to continue giving him the doses. Renata deduces that was the reason she rehired Eva when she left the first time. He tells her Marcella wanted her back so she could blame someone for his death in case they found out what was going on. Renata is horror stricken. Julio points out that she was also necessary pointing his finger at her telling her to remember that she also put the medicine in the coffee. He tells her Marcella used her to poison him.

Back to the beach and Daniel and Eva are in each others arms. Dan tells her he has missed her every hour of every day from the moment she left him. Eva is clinging dearly to Daniel and thinking to herself “What am I doing. This is the man that killed my father. I can‘t love him.” She pulls away. Daniel asks her what’s wrong and she tells him “We can’t do this.” Daniel is confused and frustrated and asks her why.

Leo still can’t believe that Victoria was adopted. Marcella tells him he should have suspected it a long time ago. He asks why. She tells him it is obvious because Victoria was never able to get what she wanted for herself. She always needed help from one of them. She lacked cunning and malice because she didn’t come from the same blood as them. Leo shakes his head in agreement and tells her she is right. Then he tells her now more than ever he can’t permit Daniel to leave Victoria for Eva. He would rather see him get involved with someone else. (I got a little confused here) Marcella tells Leo she would prefer to see Daniel dead. Then she says they have to eliminate him.

Dan is telling Eva he heard her and Victoria talking. He knows about the suicide and that is why he is going to divorce her. Eva is shaking her head no and telling him that they can’t be together. It is impossible. He touches her face and tells her the only thing for certain is that they love each other. Eva says “That isn’t the only thing. You are unhappy in your marriage. That is why you have a lover.” Daniel says “Lover?” Eva say’s “Who is Lilly then? Someone who will help with your broken marriage. Now leave me alone!!!” Daniel tells her Lilly is not his lover. Eva says well it’s not like you wouldn’t want that to happen. Then she reminds him about her engagement to Leo. She tries very hard to convince him she does not love him. Daniel tells her he does not believe her. Just a few minutes ago her lips were telling him the opposite.
She tells him she felt something different. She feels nothing for him. She can’t love him. She walks away taking her things leaving Daniel alone on the beach.

Marisol tells Giorgio that Geraldo loved her voice and she will be signing a contract. They have more happy chat. She also tells him that from now on her and Fran will be living together. Giorgio is not happy to hear this. Marisol invites him to the pension for their late wedding party and he declines as he doesn’t like Fran. Moving along……

Julio is asking Renata if she now understands why he faked his death and wants vengeance against Marcella. Renata tells him she understands everything, but wants to know how he plans on doing this. He says amongst other things he also needs her help. She asks what he wants her to do. He tells her she will find out. At this moment we see Justa walk in. And Renata say’s her name out loud as Julio struggles to stand up.

Justa says “You wanted to see me? Well here I am. Ready to listen and to have you listen to me as well.” Renata is suddenly very uncomfortable and grabs her purse to leave. Justa tells her to stay because she is a part of the story.

Creepy part. Leo enters Alicia’s bedroom trying to make nice. He has a single rose. Alicia is not making it easy for the louse. He feeds her bull about her being lovelier than the rose. Something like that. Alicia isn’t buying any of it. He tells her that is marriage to Eva is just a business transaction. Alicia looks puzzled. He tells her they have a mutual agreement that doesn’t involve sex. He paws all over her and she calls him a liar. She is able to resist him and tells him she is fed up with him. She pleads with him not to marry Eva. She then gives him back the rose and tells him she can’t accept his marrying Eva and gathers all her courage and leaves. Leo is not happy as the door shuts and we see him crush the rose in anger.

Justa tells Julio she still can’t believe he is alive. He tells her he thought for many years that she was dead. Justa tells him now they are face to face. Both alive. Julio tells her there are many things that he wants her to know. She tells him she has a lot to tell him as well.

Julio tells Justa that he only found out she was alive when he saw at his grave site. And all he could think of was finding her. Justa is not phased as she says “Really? I thought you didn’t love me.” Then she looks over at Renata and continues “Well that’s what Renata told me.” Renata is looking quite uncomfortable.
Julio now angry stands and says “See!! You really do have a lot to do with all of this!!” Justa stands and tells him that he also demonstrated that he didn’t love her, the day she saw him kissing Marcella. He tells her he made a big mistake. Justa tells him he left her for Marcella. In one instant her life was scarred for ever. Julio tells her that is life was scarred as well.

Victoria is looking for Daniel in his office. He is not there. She asks about her mother. She went home. In that case she will go down to the dress department and leaves.

Ricardo tells Adrian that all children deserved to be loved by their parents. He gently touches his cheek and tells Adrian he has a big heart and is noble. He tells Adrian that he and Justa care a lot for him. Adrian tells Ricardo that Justa was scared when she saw Thomas try and take him away. If the police hadn’t arrived in time he would have taken him. He tells Adrian that is why he has to denounce him. Adrian tells Ricardo that he doesn’t want to leave them. Ricardo gently hugs him and tells him that they don’t want him to leave either.

Victoria is eyeing a red dress. She tells Giorgio she wants to take it home. Giorgio tells her she can’t because it is a part of the new collection. She begs a little more. Giorgio still says no and along comes Bruno. Bruno says he doesn’t have a problem with it.

Julio is telling Justa that Renata knew he was desperate to find her after she saw him with Marcella. Justa looks at Renata and says she never told me anything. Besides she wrote him many letters. Julio seems confused at hearing this . Justa tells him she had decided to forgive him and was willing to start fresh. But she never got an answer from him. So that is why she decided to go far away. Renata is squirming in her skin as we get another confession. She tells Justa she never gave Julio the letters as she asks Justa to forgive her. Both Justa and Julio turn to look at her with strained faces.

Justa walks over to Renata and asks her what kind of games was she playing. Why did she lie to her. Renata full of confessions tonight looks at Julio and says “ Because I loved him and didn’t want you two to get married.” Now wringing her hands in agony, Renata asks them to forgive her.

Bruno tells Giorgio that Victoria is their queen and she can have what ever she wants. Bruno tells her that his clients called and are very happy with her and sent her a gift. Vicky is giddy and asks where the gift is. He tells her it is in the office and asks her to accompany him there and he will give it to her.

Alicia is chatting with one of the secretaries and runs into Deborah.

Bruno and Vick are in his office and she has opened the gift. It is a necklace. She asks him to help her put it on. He tells her he would love to. Vicky tells him she loves clients that gives her such nice gifts. Bruno now pawing her neck tells her it wasn’t from the clients. She smiles and asks who. Bruno tells her it was from him for such a marvelous night. He starts to kiss her but she stops him. Then suddenly grabs him and locks a big kiss on him. We hear a door open but don’t see who it is as Victoria and Bruno quickly separate.

Justa is going ballistic on Renata. She can’t believe what she did. After all they are sisters. Renata tells her jealousy made her blind [los celos me cegaron] and she sided with Marcella so Justa couldn’t have Julio. She did everything Marcella asked and now she knows she was wrong. Now she is aware of all the harm she has caused her.

We see a very blurry flashback that Renata is having as she hands Marcella Justa’s baby. We hear Renata say “Here is Julio and Justa’s baby.” We also hear Marcella ask if she told Justa it was stillborn. Renata tells her yes but she is afraid that they will discover the truth. Marcella tells her not to worry about this. The Dr. will make sure that she won’t remember. As she is holding the child she tells Justa that they will have to convince Julio that this child is the one that they adopted together.

Justa looks at Renata and asks her what she did. Renata standing now says "neither of you have a single clue of the madness that I committed.” She is now wiping tears from her face and tells them she is very sorry. She rushes out of the house as Justa is yelling after her to wait. Julio turns to Justa and tells her that he has always known that Renata and Marcella had caused them much harm and they had many secrets “now we will find out.”

We find out it was Lilly who had walked in on Victoria and Bruno. Victoria asks her why she didn’t knock. (Because this is a telenovela and nobody knocks first. And nobody locks the doors.) Lilly tells her she was sent to take her some where. Victoria tells her it was lucky that it was her best friend that walked in on them. She grabs her keys to go with Lily. Bruno tries to stop her and is rudely pushed aside as she leaves with Lily. Bruno smirks after they leave.

Justa tells Julio that she has a secret as well. She tells him when she went to look for him that day at the office it was to tell him she was pregnant. Julio looks shocked at first than a smile comes across his face as he asks her why she didn’t tell him. She tells him she doesn’t know. It was for pride, for stupidity. She didn’t want him to stay with her out of obligation. She says Renata convinced her to leave the city before the child was born. She tells him the child was stillborn. Sad faces from both of them.

Alicia and Deborah are face to face. Deb starts to tell her something and Alicia tells her she knows she is her mother. Alicia wants to know why she abandoned them. Didn’t she love them. Deb tells her of course she loves them. She tells her she searched every where for them. Alicia is not buying any of this and starts to leave. Deb grabs her arm and tells her things didn’t happen the way her father told them.

Julio tells Justa that he would have been very happy to have had a child with her. Justa tells him she went crazy when she found out her child was still born. She said she was kept at the clinic under heavy sedation. Then there was an earthquake that destroyed the area. She tells him everyone thought she was dead. She said she stumbled through the streets and slowly went on with life. Julio sadly touches her face and asks her why she never looked for him. She stands and tells him she had resented him for many years. Julio is standing now as Justa continues she also resented Renata for leaving her at the clinic. Julio says “Even Renata didn’t know you were alive?” Justa tells him Renata didn’t know.

Bruno is sniffing the empty box when Giorgio walks in looking for Victoria. Bruno tells him she left.

(I love Julio, but all this Justa and Julio reminiscing is getting to me.) More lamenting. She suffered lots. But when she found out he was dead she was finally able to put an end to their story and start fresh. (or something like that.) Julio tells her he knows she is married. Something is said about him visiting Ricardo in the hospital and that he didn’t have to pay the bill. She takes her purse now and tells Julio to not look for her any more. Julio is broken hearted and begs her not to ask that of him.

Vick is pleading with Lily not to say anything about what she saw. Victoria tells her for one moment she thought it was Daniel that was about to walk in and she wanted to die. Lily all best friend now, says, “It’s history, but tell me how long have you been sleeping with Bruno?” Victoria looks mortified.

Alicia is telling Deb she doesn’t believe anything she is telling her. Deb swears that it was her father that took them away from her. Alicia screams at her and tells her not to mess with her father. He was the most sacred thing to her and she won’t let her offend his memory. She tells Deb to leave them alone. Her tears don’t mean a thing to her. She tells Deb that her Tia told her that she was capable of telling them anything to justify why she abandoned them.

More confession time as Old Tia is talking to God asking him to forgive her bad. She tells God that Deb doesn’t deserve her children’s love. She did a bad thing by having an affair and her brother did a good thing by taking the children away. She can’t permit Deb to destroy her children’s wonderful memories of their father.

Eva’s at her father’s grave. She says if he told her that her mother left them well than she might as well believe it. He never lied to them. (Well at least she isn’t bad mouthing Daniel. That’s a step in the right direction)

Poor Renata has returned to the mansion and is sitting on her bed looking quite rung out from the day she has had.

She is asking God to show her the light, now that she knows that Marcella was poisoning Julio it doesn’t matter if they find out what she did. We hear Marcella calling for her and Renata quickly wipes her tears and stands to attention. Marcella storms into her room and asks her if she is deaf, she has been looking everywhere for her. Renata starts to talk and Marcella interrupts her and tells her she is all nervous because Leo now knows that Vicky is adopted and she needs some tea. She tells Renata that she was the one who told him. Renata asks if she told him everything. Marcella tells her no and to be careful not to tell him anything else. She leaves all in a twitter.

Lily and Vicky. Vicky is surprised that lily knew there was something between her and Bruno. Lilly tells her she suspected it but is happy that Vicky confided in her. She tells Vicky she thinks it is great she is having an affair with him. She cautions Vicky not to forget about Daniel. Sometimes affairs take over and become reality. Vicky tells her that will never happen. She will never leave Daniel and no one will take him away. Lilly says “You are referring to Eva, right?” Vicky shakes her head yes and says “And you.”
Lilly looks shocked.

Lilly can’t believe that Victoria would think she would try and steal Daniel. (Some one else needs to go to confession.) Vicky tells her it isn’t her that thinks that, it is Eva. She tells her about her chat with Eva at the engagement party and that Daniel was cozy with someone else. (Or something like that). Lily is offended as she tells Victoria how awful Eva is to try and come between them. Victoria tells Lilly not to worry, nothing is wrong. Lily doth protest too much as she continues insisting that Eva is trying to come between there friendship. Lily now looks a little concerned as Victoria has her back to her cursing out Eva.

Renata is on her way to give Marcella her tea when the phone rings. It is Julio. Renata is all a twit now and asks him why he would call the house. He tells her he needs her help for something important and to come over right away.

Party time at the pension. The boys are playing bingo. Marisol has brought groceries for the party and Justa walks in all in a mope. Ricardo asks her if she solved her problem. She tells him yes. Marisol Reminds her she was going to help with the cake.

Renata gives Marcella her Tea. Marcella tells her she heard the phone and wants to know who it was. Renata nervously lies and tells her it was a phone salesperson. Marcella looks up suspiciously and tells her she spent a long time talking to them because now the tea is cold. Renata attempts to take it from her and Marcella waves her off and tells her to bring her another one. Renata starts to leave but turns and says before she leaves she has to tell her something. Marcella looks put out and says What do you have to tell me?

Eva goes to see Julio. She asks him what’s up. He looks sad. He tells her there are things in his life that she still doesn’t know about. Eva asks if it is about his friendship with Ricardo. He tells her the friendship isn’t with him but with Justa. Eva looks surprised at hearing this. She asks him if he knows her. He tells her he knew her many years ago and were at the point of getting married. He tells her she is the woman he has loved the most in his life. Eva seems surprised since they haven’t seen each other in a long time. Eva wants to know more. Julio tells her it is a long story and he will tell her some other day. (Didn’t catch the rest of it)

Renata is telling Marcella that sometimes when she passes by Julio’s room she hears strange noises. Marcella asks what kind of strange noises. Renata tells her she doesn’t know but it sounds like things are moving around in there. She tells her that the other day she heard Julio’s cough. Marcella looks a little freaked. Then she says “what kind of stupid things are you saying. He’s dead.” Renata then sits down beside Marcella and tells her she has a friend that is a medium and she told her that Julio’s spirit could be walking around the house. She tells Marcella that her friend said when the dead don’t leave it is because they are hanging around because they have unfinished business to tend to. They are looking for something. Marcella is freaked for a moment then tells Renata to stop talking stupid and go away. Renata gets up to leave and we hear spooky music as Marcella looks about fearfully.

Julio now asks Eva what’s up. She looks sad. She tells him her mother showed up. She found out last night who she was. She tells him it was Deb. He is surprised. He asks if she gave an explanation. Eva tells him she said her father took them away from her but she will never believe this. Julio stops her little rant and tells her he is sorry for her and can’t imagine what she is feeling.

Then she tells him on top of that she went to the beach to think and relax and Daniel showed up. This gets a big smile from Julio.

Vick walks into the bedroom and tells Dan she is happy to see him there. He tells her he is only there to get something to wear. Vicky tells her that Jacky said Fran was going to go live with his wife. Dan confirms this. Vicky says “don’t tell me you are going to their little party they are going to have tonight?” He tells her of course he is going to go. Fran invited the both of them. Vicky says how nice but truthfully she is really tired. She tells him to give her apologies. Dan hardly looking at her says with indifference, of course he will. Vicky seems miffed and asks “Aren’t you going to insist that I go?” Dan with a hint of sarcasm says “No. I know you don’t like going to these ‘little parties’ .”

Eva tells Julio one thing led to another and soon they were kissing. Julio is now smiling widely as he laughs and says “what great news. How marvelous.” Eva tells him no, how could it be marvelous. She holds her hand out now showing her engagement ring and tells Julio that last night she got engaged to Leo. Julio looks beyond belief as he says “What??” He grabs her hand and gruffly says “Your engaged to my stepson?” He asks her why she did that. Eva stammers and tells him it is because he cares for her and is willing to be a father to her son. Wise Julio stops her and says “ Pablito’s real father is Daniel.” Eva says “Well you know that I don’t want Daniel to know this child is his.” Julio in a deep voice says “Are you sure Eva? Are you 100% certain of this decision.?” Eva now looks a bit doubtful as Julio tells her to think it over for a while. “Don’t deny your son the love of his father. Don’t never deny this happiness”

Leo is hashing over the fact that Victoria is not his real sister. Now it doesn’t matter that much if Lilly steals Daniel. He is telling himself that it would be most convenient for him if Dan were with Lily. At least until he marries Eva. Eva interrupts this little plot party. She is all shaken. He asks her what’s wrong. She tells him she heard something terrible on the radio. She tells him that Claudia is dead. Leo fakes surprise at the news. And even fakes being upset. He asks if she killed her self. Eva tells him no. She was murdered. She tells him they think drugs were involved. Leo is acting his phony butt off as he tells Eva this can’t be.

Thomas is packing. If they find out he killed a policemen he will go to jail. (well duh!!) He is holding the weapon in his hand and stashes it in his pack.

More Leo overacting. He tells Eva that he always suspected that Claudia was into something strange. He then tells her to forget about all of that and put something comfortable on and go poolside.
Eva looks shocked and asks him if he is alright. He tells her he is fine. Life goes on. (Those were his exact words) He urges her on but Eva declines telling him she has lots to do before she goes to the party.
Leo says “There’s a party? Where?” Eva apologizes for not telling him sooner and says it is at the pension where she use to live. He asks if he is invited as well. She tells him of course, him, her aunt, Alicia. He tells her he has something else he has to do but to give his apologies. Eva tells him not to worry she will explain to everyone.

Marcella is asking Renata where everyone is. She tells her Leo had business and the Señora and her family went to a party at the pension where she use to live. Marcella is amused that Renata would be calling Eva señora. Marcella says it is noteworthy that people will do anything to keep their job. Renata looks at her and says “And for this sometimes they make huge mistakes.” She asks if there is anything else and Marcella tells her for the moment no.

Leo shows up at Lily’s place. Ick!!!.

Thomas is headed out of town and is stopped by the police. Yea!!!

It is party time. Fran and Marisol are being cozy. Adrian says something about having kids. I think Fran wants to start tonight. The doorbell rings. Alicia is serving refreshments and we see Tia and Eva sitting at a table by Ricardo. And with all this merriment who should be led in by Justa but Daniel. Double Yea!!!

La Verdad Oculta #117: Four's a crowd

At Elsa's apartment, Ramón & Co. get Dante's address from her. And Chicles guides Juan José to Adolfo's kidnap warehouse; while back at home when Carlos arrives and reports Adolfo has a beach house hideaway, he's startled to learn from Asunción that Alejandra's kidnapped, too.

Carlos takes a call from Bertha and exits to meet her at his condo, unbeknownst to him that Édgar and Valentín have her bound at gunpoint. They ditch notions of abusing her, as she's still the boss's wife. Back at the warehouse, Juan José warns Chicles that it's not the movies; and guys will really die when shot.

Instead Juan José instructs him to phone for help if he isn't back in 15 minutes or hears gunfire and to wait in the truck. Once inside, Juan José skulks the dank, inky halls without result until a loud bang erupts; whereupon he notes a stray dog nosing around Édgar's booty hiding place and recovers the infamous black shoes.

Incognito Adolfo and Dante meet Yolanda at a nondescript hotel, where Adolfo embraces Yolanda with relief. She begs him to release the hostages, which he insists are his only hole card for escaping the country. But when she reveals Mario is dead and the kidnapping now prevents him closing the contract, Adolfo is pole axed.

How stupid! Of course! The sudden strange behavior of "Mario" now makes sense. How stupid, how stupid! He could have been the owner of everything! He's realizing his awful blunder, committed in order to rescue Yolanda. No!

At Carlos's condo, he enters only to be bonked on the head, bound and carried off by Édgar and Valentín; while racing across town with sirens screaming, Ramón radios Leonardo that at Dante's, Zaida gave them the warehouse address. Meanwhile, Juan José and Chicles arrive home with the amazing diamonds to hear of Carlos's beach hideaway news.

Leonardo is disgusted to have just missed the kidnappers at the warehouse; and when he suddenly remembers Gabriela's tale of the beach hideaway, phones and learns from David it's somewhere remote without highway access. At Juan José's, he phones Yolanda to ask Carlos's address to learn more about it.

Édgar reports Carlos in hand to Adolfo at the nondescript hotel; where Adolfo assures Dante he can trust Yolanda -- with the possible exception when it concerns Carlos. She'll do something if she knows he's kidnapped. They quickly decide to adjourn with their victim to the country hideout of Valentín's choosing.

Dante's concerned about holding Carlos; kidnapping girls is one thing -- but Carlos is strong and trouble; but Adolfo needs him sequestered, due to Carlos knowing about the beach house, at least until they flee the country.

Juan José arrives at Carlos's condo just as Bertha frees her gag and shouts for help; he rescues terrified Bertha and learns of Carlos's kidnapping -- and she learns of Alejandra's kidnapping, to her dismay, along with the other girls.

Yolanda returns to the hotel to find the heavies absconded without a word. At Mario's, Santiago and David are disgusted to see Juan José bring Bertha to the house, until they hear what has happened to Carlos. Bertha is distraught and wails she loves Carlos and she'll die if anything bad befalls him!

David embraces apparently sincere Bertha and admits that everyone should have the chance to repent; and when doubtful Dora appears, explains Bertha's situation. Bertha desires to explain things to her uncle, too; but is startled and confused to hear Mario died long ago in Roberto's crash on the Veracruz highway.

The bad guys arrive at the country hideout and stow Carlos with the other victims. Back at Mario's, sobbing Bertha apologizes, if not to deceased Mario, then to Santiago, explaining that after all that's happened, she's going to behave in a very different way. Crying, she turns to everyone present and apologizes, begging forgiveness.

Later upstairs, Bertha apologizes especially to Dora, telling Dora she always felt like she never amounted to much, which she has never told anyone else. Growing up, Alejandra was the smart and talented one, always getting the parental praise; while she felt no account and acted out for attention.

Her father did seem to feel sympathetic, knowing Bertha didn't bring much; but when he died, there was no one left to help her, having no profession or education. Dora admits it must have been hard for her; but typically optimistic, smiles and counsels God will make things right in the end, if Bertha is truly repentant.

Downstairs in the living room, tempers are flaring as the family men's impatience is reaching a breaking point; and hapless, prodded Leonardo walks in just on the brunt of it. General mayhem ensues as they object to Leonardo ordering them what to do, despite their anger at feeling he has done nothing!

But they must admit since they themselves don't know the location of the beach hideaway, that they're trying to squeeze water out of a stone. Leonardo is shocked they haven't told him Carlos is missing; and they all must calm down, including the uniforms with sidearms drawn.

Leonardo wonders how in the world he's supposed to launch a search, if they don't know where the beach house is located along Mexico's one thousand kilometers of coast line! He orders them to stop taking things into their own hands and exits, leaving the frustrated boyz steaming.

Later at Juan José's, he weeps over a photograph of missing Alejandra and asks God what he's done to deserve first the death of his mother and now risking Alejandra, who is everything to him; who has been so good with him. He still believes, though, and prays for her safe return; while Asuncion looks on, wearing the world's loudest pajamas, still easily visible despite the late-night shadows.

Next day outside the country hideout, Édgar and Valentín discuss how they are going to get out of there, with those monkeys watching them all the time and the jewels guarded at the warehouse; but Valentín reminds Édgar they still have money in the bank.

While inside the shack amid the victims' moaning, Adolfo and Dante wonder similarly how to extricate themselves, with all transportation watched -- and their bank accounts probably frozen without a penny. They order Édgar to retrieve the diamonds; and he'd better not come back empty handed, or else!

At Elsa's, she admits a somber Mauricio into the apartment, who only sits for a moment to deliver bad news. He knows she doesn't love him, and he's tired of waiting for her to notice he exists. He did everything he could to encourage her self-confidence to succeed; and it wasn't easy, due to her self doubt.

He insisted because he loved her and thought she'd make a great professional. Despite doing everything he could to help her forget Juan José, the only thing it accomplished was that she loves him even more -- that she gets worse and worse, wanting him more and more, despite Juan José only wanting her as a friend.

When Elsa objects to Mauricio speaking to her that way, he tells her she will indeed listen to every word he has to say, for all the mountain of things he listened to from her. She's a stupid girl, because Juan José doesn't love her. What does she expect -- and what's more, Mauricio doesn't expect anything either, because he's tired of this.

Mauricio doesn't want to see Elsa again or hear anything about her. She's won; she finally succeeded in getting rid of him. He gave her everything, and she threw it in the garbage. What is she going to do now, that she's alone? At the door, he pauses thoughtfully and turns before saying, resignedly, to pardon him for daring to love her -- and exits, as Elsa remains behind in tears.

When Édgar arrives back at the shack from the guarded warehouse without the diamonds, Adolfo is ready to kill both him and Valentín -- until Valentín pulls his hole card and reveals he knows where Garnica's helicopter is. They get a reprieve when Adolfo returns from looking in the woods, exclaiming they are saved; the helicopter is there!

Adolfo promises Dante they'll get a big ransom for the kidnap victims; while after a few moments, the helicopter descends -- and aside, Valentín confides to Édgar he picked this hideout knowing the helicopter was hidden nearby.

The worse news is that the chopper won't hold everyone -- and two of the passengers must stay behind: which two, Adolfo plans to choose with a bullet.

Triunfo del Amor #43 3/2/11 A Triumph of *Meh*

After last night's fiesta of flashbacks de filler, Viewerville prepares for another night. Will there or won't there be any forward motion in the plot?

As Univision finally begins tonight's show (about 5 minutes late), Oscar is pining away for Victoria. "For me, there is no one better than Victoria." The long suffering Toni swallows her tears, tells him she has things to attend to and leaves.

Vic and Os are at dinner discussing Fer, RTSB and Padilla. Os gives her the perfect opportunity to come clean: "If you know something about Padilla, tell me!" Vic meekly says she knows nothing. She doesn't know him. Os tells Vic Fer's happiness is what it most important. (As a parent, may I just say that's a load of crap? At 13 my child thought happiness would mean being Brittany Spears. Seriously, Os? Good character is more important than your child being happy.)

Finally, we get back to the baseball game and Max is on third. Too bad Ji/Xi/mena (hee hee, that made me laugh) wants to score! She covers his eyes and being the eye-closed idiot that he is, he kisses her for a good 10 or 15 minutes without realizing who it is. The baseball gang look on and cheer (what idiots, they've ALL seen Maria before.)

Maria sees this of course and is muy impactada. Max pulls away and I think he threw up a little bit. "Ji/Xi/mena? What are you doing here?"  JP is there to defend Max. He's sure Max was clueless as to who he was kissing and tells Maria "To get angry with him would be unjust."

Ji/Xi/mena tells him not to deny he liked her kisses. She's sure he hasn't felt the same as when he was with him(?) He pretty much kicks her to the curb aaaand.....

WHACK!!!!!!!!! Maria with a roundhouse be-yotch slap!!!!

María tells her to lay off her man. She and Max are getting married. Ji/Xi/mena says Victoria will never allow Max to marry "fly (mosca) like you!"

Maria slaps her once more for good measure and Max, being the businessman that he is, starts the damage control. He is successful. Smoochies and cheers.

Nati walks the streets remembering JuanJo's words from last night.

Max is pep-talking the baseball gang. They all decide to go eat. They leave the Padre in the dust...literally.

Toni and Vic are talking about Padilla. Toni reminds Vic that Fer could really be in a lot of danger. Vic says she needs something to defend herself against them. She really thinks this Eva woman could help.

Speaking of which, Eva and Fausto are discussing Vic now. Fausto is concerned that Vic can ruin all their plans, but Eva thinks having an ally will help. The more enemies Burnie has the better.

Milagros, tortas ahogadas and  a conversation about Nati. I manage to gather she left without her books. Very puzzling indeed.

Fer, Linda and RTSB. MAKEOVER!!! RTSB is reluctant.

Oh for pity's sake. Nati is on a roof yelling and screaming. JuanJo is trying to talk her down. He promises if she'll come down they'll talk. She keeps screaming. She wants to die. ¡Morirme! (And she's wearing the ugliest pants I've ever seen.)

Ok. This is too much. Her acting is terrible and I'm just so annoyed right now. Really, Mejía? We really can't take much more stupidity. Nati has been the voice of reason and now she's acting like a drama queen. *seethe*

We come back from commercial break to a RandomHO crying outside the church. JP enters and asks if he can help. She says he can't understand her pain and he yammers about men not being able to understand the pain women suffer. Just like it takes a mother to understand the pain of another mother. She reveals that she is Lorena, a sinner  "I'm not bad. I'm a woman who lost my way." She wanted an easy life, money...she sold her body. But she wants a career change. Her dad was a carpenter...but a woman carpenter? In the 21st century? Surely we aren't ready for that kind of upside down thinking about gender? (I'm thinking either it's Max's mom  or the love interest for the chipmunk guy.)

M&M in the Lime green Hot Wheel. They are told by a bombero to take a different route. María has a strong feeling that something is wrong.

JP, Lorena and orphans FF>>

M&M are on the scene of Nati's hysteria. Don Napo tells Nati he and Cruz know everything about LindaHo and that they will set the record straight if she will just come the hell down from the blasted roof. Max sneaks up from behind and saves her (but we are still being subjected to her screams of anguish. Just.Shut.Up.)

The Padillas have apparently hired a butler (He's no Braulio) and he's welcoming the Sandovals into the lovely Padilla apartment. Vic looks sick to her stomach. RTSB's makeover is complete and he looks pretty cute. I'm sure he's still a jerk, though. Padilla still looks oily. Padilla opens champagne while Vic tries her best not to vomit on the coffee table.

Nati is sleeping thanks to a sleeping pill. Linda feels bad and María goes off. She tells LInda she never thinks of anyone else, just herself. She tells Linda if it hadn't been for "mi Max" and the bomberos ...didn't catch it. Linda cries even harder. She doesn't know what to do. She loves Os and doesn't want to leave him.

Max is at home and we get another flashback entitled "Max and Maria: A History" (Maite sure has pretty hair. And their theme song is so nice.) When the filler is done Max thoughtbubbles: "Dios, who would've thunk I would have fallen so in love with that little uniformed girl." (Seriously loses something in translation.)

Back to the show and the dinner party from hell. Padilla goes on about his business success and attempts charm. He doesn't see why these two crazy kids can't keep seeing each other. RTSB presents Fer with...the watch that dad stole at her birthday party. They claim it's a replacement. Vic seethes. Os agrees the two should be able to see each other. Idiot.

At home, Vic and Os fight over the Fer and Fed match up. Vic insists that if anything happens to their daughter it will be his fault. Os yells. He's tired of her threats. He goes off about something...(how terribly she treats others?)

Maria and nuns FF>>

Vic sneaks a trip to Eva. She tells Eva that Burnie is turning her daughter against her. She wants Eva's help.

Gabi and Fer discussing Jardinerito. No big revelations. Fer is still claiming undying love for Fede. She's taking him to Miami.

Pip and María talking about Miami (I'm beginning to think they won't get to Miami until the Final.) Pip sees the ring and blathers on and makes a crack about Os and realizes what he's done. María tells him she knows. Pip wants to know what she knows. She spills the beans about Linda and confesses she is her roomate. Pip goes into drama mode. There's some "no puede ser-ing."

Cruz is cutting a rose for Fer. She comes out and tells him that they are different classes. He can't offer her anything. She tells him her parents approved of Fede last night. Cruz looks crushed.

Eva is showing Vic the picture her sister and husband: Gonzalo and Rosalia.  Eva tells Vic all about Gonzalo getting Burnie pregnant. She goes on to tell Vic about Burnie burning them alive. Vic is impactada. She says "There was no proof?" She asks to borrow the picture and promises to return it. Eva is reluctant, but does so.

Cruz just can't believe that Fer was faking. She kisses him then pulls away quickly. Yup, she says. Faking. Just playing with you Jardinerito. Cruz cries. I feel so bad! I hope Fer gets a little comeuppance before she officially gets with Cruz. She doesn't appreciate him at all. He leaves the rose on the step.

Maria tries to convince Pip that Linda is not bad. (Yeaahh, right.)

Oscar and Vic talk shop and about Miami preparations (I'm not holding my breath.) Vic says she doesn't have time to chat. He asks if it's about Os. She says because of her cowardice she's about to lose him.

Fer comes back out and sees the rose. She flashes back to her last kiss with him and cries (good, I hope she feels like crap.) She smells and  the fondles the rose. She gets up and heads back inside.

Vic is berating Maria about the Ji/Xi/mena stunt. She tells Maria that in Miami she will not disobey her or do anything without her permission.

Cue the kayak.

Llena de Amor #140 (Mex. 145) Wed 3/2/11 Love Is The Answer...Now What Was The Question?

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,

And that was the message tonight, folks. Along with the Beatles, El Lirio de Plata and our esteemed soothsayer, both in tandem, told us Only Love can make you happy. And only Love can defeat Evil (insert the name Juana Felipe/Fedra right here). So don't say nobody told ya.

We begin with a repeat of el Lirio and Vicky's hot kisses (are you watching Julia?). This burning passion is rudely interrupted by police pounding on the door and Brandon bellowing to open up. Vicky warns Lirio to flee. He'll go only if she goes with him. And she does.

Back at the mansion, there's another knock at the door. It's Chema come, ostensibly, to look for work, him being a big buddy of Bernardo and all. Not a good recommendation, as it turns out. Emiliano is about to run him off but first wants to know what he's doing skulking around Netty's boardinghouse. Because should he ever....Chema assures him that she's an enchanting gorgeous woman whom he would never harm. Strangely, this doesn't reassure Emiliano. El Capitán finds it odd that this married man would be so concerned about a woman who is not his wife. Interrrrresting.

Well, our gorgeous enchanting Netty is thrilling Doris and Gretel with her tales of confronting Fedra in prison and getting a good throat throttle in the process. Fedra hates her because Netty tells her “tres verdades” (the tough truth) every chance she gets, but no worries....Fedra is “refundida en la carcel para siempre” (stuck in jail forever) and will never harm us again. (Anybody hear an anvil falling?)

Well, an anvil doesn't fall but the lights go out, signaling the arrival of our somewhat creepy soothsayer. And she's got Bad News. No indeed. You haven't conquered Evil. It will come back stronger. You're all in danger.
Fedra's reminiscing about the predictions also and vows to get out of jail and find out more news concerning her dreaded future.

And speaking of dreaded futures, Kristel's about to get started on her plan of worldwide domination, starting with attractive menfolk. Yep, she's gonna make 'em all fall in love with her, and not love one of them back. And here's a sexy red dress. Perfect to start her seduction of that yummy Brandon. To her delight, Ilitia goes up in flames. Not him! You can have Jorge, Oliver, the whole cast of a telenovela. But not Brandon! Otherwise, it's “Bayeee” to our Top Model Friendship.
Kristel, quite charming in her nefarious plans, thought bubbles after Ilitia's exit that she'll have that naco poli dying for her just like your daddy. (Yikes, can't wait for that confrontation.)

Mientras tanto, Señor Daddy has arrived at Muñeca's house to return Manzanita, (she leaves with a nyah nyah nyah which he reciprocates) and to demand a divorce. He's going to marry Kristel and they'll raise Christian together.

His sleazy cohorts, Garduño and Mauricio, are being arrested by our Keystone Cops and Oliver's sure the Mafioso will suffer for shooting a policeman. Garduño is just as sure his lawyer will get him off. (Want to take bets on who's right?)

Jorge storms in and demands Where's Victoria de la Gartha?
Brandon storms back I'll ask the questions!
Where's Victoria de la Garza?

Whew. Glad that's straight. And turns out she's long gone, managing to vault nimbly out of a window in that sausage casing dress. Anything is possible when you're with el Lirio. (well, heck...all you need is LOVE, right?)

Sure 'nough. The medium Angela, as the candles flicker, intones that the best weapon against Evil is Love. But, turning to Gretel, she also sees “a woman crying all her life for you. She's sacrificed her love for you (cue Paula) and you need to go home, to the place of your fears. Your family needs you.” As for Netty, this night, before the clock strikes midnight, a man will need your help. Only you can save Marianela's True Love.

Back at the mansion, Vicky is now handing over Fedra's jewel box to el Lirio since she knows he can sell these precious baubles for cash to help the needy. Which leads into the second sermonette( in case we're not getting the Take Home Message.)

You have a big heart, rumbles el Lirio, underneath that facade of a hard bitter woman. You're longing to believe in people...to believe in love again.

All talk and no action? Heck no. Are you going to kiss me again? whispers Vicky. And indeed he is. Quite thoroughly. Hubba hubba.

Ugly scene back at Muñeca's. I'll give you a divorce on two conditions. No money. And custody of Christian. Are you crazy, sneers Lorenzo. I deserve at least half your money just for putting up with you for all these years! And Christian's my son. My name's on his birth certificate. You haven't got a prayer of getting him. (I'm thinking she's actually signed her death sentence. But the writers wouldn't kill off Muñeca would they? Sure hope not. However we had a case recently in Ohio where a woman refused to give her husband a divorce and she wound up under a concrete floor in the basement of the new house he was building for his mistress.)

Well, Muñeca holds the upper hand in this discussion at least. I'll fight you tooth and nail on the divorce. Let Kristel, your “mujer en toda la extension de la palabra” support you like I've done all these years.

Back to Vicky. She's a bit woozy after those kisses but not enough to succumb to more serious love-making. Is she in love with another man? queries Lirio. Well...she could never be in love with a man who hides his face, she answers, trying to lift the mask. Nothing doing.

Faces aren't important. Only feelings. I hope one day you will trust your feelings. Only then will you be a happy woman. And blowing her a kiss with his gloved hand, he departs. Cara impactada as Vicky ponders this heavy duty message.

Next we see a car easing into a parking place in front of a restaurant. Looks like the name is La Buena Vida, but I wouldn't swear to it. Turns out Fidel has fixed it up as both a clever hiding place for Lirio loot(there's a tequila bar that swivels to reveal a strong box...zounds!) and Emanuel, arriving with both cash and the jewels, is so excited he fails to notice that he's dropped a pearl necklace on the floor. We watch our handsome duo stuff the night's gleanings in the safe while we worry about that danged pearl necklace. ( Men are sooooo messy aren't they!? Guess it's not just underwear we're having to pick off the floor.)

Back at the mansion, we're treated to some more Jorge sneers and lame apologies by Emiliano for not realizing Vicky was being hauled away against her will. Emi is exhausted by the day's events and heads to bed, while Vicky defends Lirio to Jorge (he's not a robber, he's a good person and a friend) and our cranky españolito looks like she's getting on his last nerve. (And ours.)

How about bosom buddies Kristel and Ilitia? Kristel comes to make pseudo-amends, giving her word as Top Model (complete with a swirly mock Brownie salute) not to go after Brandon. Maybe she was crossing her toes, or eyes, as she said this. From there, our duo goes on to reminisce about the nasty trick they played on Marianela to convince her Emanuel's love was false. Danged guy kept snoring and blubbering on about his gordita, chuckles Ilitia. And guess what!? Jorge and Vicky overhear. More grist for the mill.

Back at the restaurant, Brandon, Oliver and the somewhat useless Comisario Tejada have arrived. Brandon spots the necklace, accuses Fidel and Emanuel of being in cahoots and all is about to be lost when Netty and Angela erupt into the room. Fervent thanks are given to San Antonio bendito for finding her jewels. But what were they doing there? Er, um, I...Emanuel fills in quickly. Netty was here rehearsing since she'll be singing for the grand opening. And yes, a star of her “nivel” has to be exquisitely dressed, and what better than the precious pearls her sister Eva bequeathed to her. Okay. Anvil avoided. For now.

Ho hum. Let's get back to our sassy Top Models. They're unabashed about being overheard. Kristel is all slithery and leg extended sexy while she asks Jorge if he really likes being married to Marianela and having to massage those mounds of flesh (lonjas de carne) every night. Not to be outdone, Ilitia wonders how Vicky can be so goldurned self-righteous when she was bedding Marianela's “one true love” back at the hacienda. That's right, jumps in Kristel. You're the same or worse than us “zorreando Mauricio” (going after Mau) and ruining my wedding.

If you were's just a little more intelligent, you'd realize I saved you from a lifetime of misery, snaps Vicky. (Weak rejoinder if you ask me. But you didn't.)Anyway, Vicky continues, you did your dirty deeds just to hurt people, where as I Came To Do Justice. There's an abysmal difference between us.
Off Vicky goes. Thank goodness.

Jorge stays and gives Ilitia a further tutorial on disrupting romance. You've got to squelch your impulsiveness or you'll lose your husband for sure. Do something to reel him in and tie him to you forever! Ilitia gets a shrewd look on her face.( Do I see a pregnancy anvil in the future? Stay tuned.)

It's the next morning. Vicky,it seems, is one of those dreadful Mary Sunshine people in the morning. She bounces into Jorge's room to open the curtains, trill about her plans to walk in the garden with that Waste of Oxygen General, and stops dead (if only!) when she turns to see not one but two male bodies in bed, separated by a chastity belt chest of drawers. Emanuel, equally chirpy, is all aglow about his roommate. Doesn't snore. Feet don't smell. Perfect.

What about Ilitia? demands Vicky. What about her? We haven't slept together for ages. We're getting a divorce. And I had to bunk with Jorge because Dad's in the guest room, Gretel's room is off limits, Axel kicks in his sleep and hey! if Jorge's not happy he can go to a hotel, right?

I'm ready to believe Emanuel and Kristel are sister and brother because they are both adorably cute when they're up to something naughty. He's straddling the chastity chest while he says all these outrageous things and he is simply A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. (and young enough to be my son, sigh.)

Jorge storms off to the shower while Vicky and Eman talk about last night. He's heard about Liro. Yes. But did he hear that he kissed her? Twice. And that his kisses were strangely like Eman's. Well nyah nyah. I think your kisses are strangely like Marianela's. Whaddya say we do a taste test? Hmmm.. Wait. I need to brush my teeth first. And he barges in on Jorge (strangled protestations come from the shower) to buff up those teeth before smooching Vicky. She, waiting contentedly on the bed, smiles and thinks to herself how much she loves Emanuel. Hmmmm.

Speaking of Love (and we seem to be, interminably), we're back at the police station where Oliver is tenderly spoon feeding Manolo ice cream before he dashes off to the newspaper to write another Fedra exposé. Sniggering fellow cops watch this tender exchange. And then fall back on their keisters when sexy Kristel arrives to vamp Oliver and ask him to appear in a modeling shoot with her. Oliver is easily vamped and agrees, while his fellow cops ogles Kristel's exposed legs and welcome him back into the brotherhood of macho males. Rosales Rosales Rosales! they chant while Kristel shakes and bakes, shimmies and slithers. Great scene.

Not so great a scene....Vicky and General strolling in the garden. I'm bored already. So here's the short version. He realizes that she's actually Marianela. And vows to shoot Fedra if she ever returns. Marianela says no, she can't let him be an assassin. (as if he'd actually do anything, the blowhard). He also finds out that she's already told a slew of people her Big Secret, including Netty, Gladiola, Gretel, Doris, Delicia, Brandon and of course, Jorge. Tears are shed. Forgiveness is asked. Snooooorrrrrre.

So back to the boardinghouse. Netty, with an unattractive hairdo and unflattering top (Women her age need a bra. Just sayin'.)is having another heart to heart with Chema. He wants to know why she and Fedra aren't best buds. She lets him know she has always been convinced Fedra killed her brother-in-law and her sister Eva, in addition to trying to murder Marianela with poisoned chocolates.

In other words, you're saying that this woman is capable of even murder to get what she wants muses Chema. Yes! And I need to know if this is the same woman that you know as Fedra Curiel, snaps Netty, softening her words with the admission that she trusts José. I'd rather you not trust even your shadow, chuckles Chema, kissing her hand.

Of course. Another arrival. Emiliano, in high dudgeon at the kiss and the presence of this dangerous male interloper. I wouldn't trust “ninguna de sus palabras” he rumbles. “Ese hombre no es de fiar.” I'd kick him out “ahora mismo”.

Since that's not getting him anywhere, Emiliano adds, Did he tell you he's a friend of Bernardo's!?

Okay. That works. Shocked Look. Very shocked. And recriminations. Chema maintains that the Bernardo he knows is a man of integrity. Netty maintains that's the LAST thing he is. What dark nefarious reason brought you to my boardinghouse? she adds. (Where's the trust, Netty. Where's the trust?)

That answer will have to wait. Manolo bursts in with the news that Bernardo has declared himself guilty of all the crimes and Fedra is being released from prison. And Brandon calls Vicky to tell her Garduño and Mauricio have been let out, thanks to their corrupt lawyer. We get a close-up of Marianela's spiky false eyelashes as she segues into a full-blown asthma attack and gropes for her inhaler. (Is it wrong of me to hope she doesn't find it?)

She does. Dang.

She vows to do what she must to keep Fedra from getting out. Calls Gretel and plans to meet at Comisario Tejada's office with the documents concerning her uncle's unplanned vault over the railing. Netty meanwhile frets that with Fedra out, her next move will be to “comerme viva” (eat me alive.) This in spite of Chema's noble promise (complete with pirate theme music playing in the background)to make sure Bernardo never harms Netty or her niece again. Fair enough. But if Juana Felipe is on the loose....just sayin'. Netty makes plans to light a little candle to San Antonio about the matter, and to take the crisis even further up the Saint Chain and light a friggin' big Easter candle if necessary. Gladiola scurries off to make a calming cup of tila tea (with a little valerian thrown in for good measure).

And our episode ends with Netty apologizing to Gretel about calling her mom the In- carnation of Evil. And Gretel replying that Fedra is not my mother. I am not her daughter. Cara impactada. As usual.

La Fea Más Bella #235-236 3/2/11 I don't care one pepino. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Capitulo 235.
Read Amanda’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Fern reports to Lety about his trip. He’s very professional and only talks business. He leaves and she gazes after him with a “tan divino.”

2. Lety tells Caro that Fernando changed on his trip. Caro asks if she wants the old Fern back. Lety says he seems like he met and fell in love with someone. If he did, it would be easier to forget him.

3. Sara announces to the meeting that Carla has arrived. Fern hops up, smiles, and primps himself before going out, and Sara gestures to Lety how beautiful Carla is. The jealousy plan is working. Fern and Carla put on a show for all Lety’s spies. Carla says she’s there to scramble his life. He gushes about the great time they had in the US. In the hall, Carla keeps pushing for kisses and Fern keeps dodging.

4. Fern introduces Carla to Luigi, who admires her style and warns her what a womanizer Fern is. Carla basically says, “You can’t prove it by me.” As Fern intended, the cuartel reports everything to Lety and emphasizes how hot she is and how connected they seemed. She asks them to stop telling her these things. Meanwhile Ali reports to Marcia the same things.

5. Finally Lety admits to Tom that she’s jealous, but there’s nothing she can do.

Capitulo 236.
Read k-Fuego’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Lety admits that she’s dying of jealousy but she has to hide it so Aldo doesn’t find out.

2. Fern gives Carla the grand tour of Conceptos. While Ali spies, Carla says she came to scramble Fern’s life, and he says she came to fix it. Ali is busted and Fern sends her away. He tells Carla that he hates Ali but strangely, sometimes we hit it off well (me cae bien). Carla worries that she’ll report them and he’ll have problems with Marcia. Fern is sure that Carla’s presence will fix his problems.

3. Fern catches Marta spying and holds hope that Lety sent her because she’s jealous. Lety is jealous, so she calls Aldo who’s preparing the expo. Paula reports on Marta’s spying. Fern brags on Lety and her brilliant foods campaign, and Carla wants to meet her. Fern’s eye twitches like Lety’s.

4. Tom reports to Aldo that Fernando returned with a bella on his arm. Aldo thinks that news will upset both Marcia and Lety. Tom, covering for Lety, says Lety didn’t seem jealous at all. Aldo asks if Tom thinks Lety is over Fern. Tom decides to lie for what he believes is Lety’s good; he says yes.

5. Saimon has a gift for Paula: a calendar and colored markers, so she can keep track of all the different men she dates.

6. Omar asks Fern what he has going on with Carla, but Fern refuses to answer. Fern finds an excuse to see Lety, so he can observe whether he’s making her jealous. But when he gets to her office, Aldo is already there with a gift, his first book off the presses. Pobre Fernando! He has to recompose himself, and Fern and Aldo exchange threats. He listens from outside the door and hears Lety put on a show for Aldo, demonstrating how not-jealous she is. Fern is disappointed again, that she’s not jealous.

7. Aldo gives Lety the book. He has signed it, “What does love taste like? With you, love tastes like glory (heaven).” Lety gives Aldo a hug, though she holds the book between them like a shield. She tells him “Te quiero mucho,” and she almost kisses him but her phone rings. She tells herself that she won’t let Aldo suffer for her jealousy of Fernando.

8. Fern goes back to his office kicking himself because Lety thinks he’s a pig. But his plan is to play it cool and convince her that he doesn’t care.

9. Aldo tells Fern he’s the same mujeriego as always, and he asks if Marcia knows about his latest conquest. Alone with Omar, Fern says that his problem is that Lety spent the night with Aldo in SMR.
