A new novela, Operación Pacífico, started this week in the 10 PM time slot. According to Wikipedia, "The series revolves around Amalia Ortega (Majida Issa), a leading and brilliant federal agent of the secret investigation unit of the National Police that has the mission and personal objective of capturing El Guapo, one of the last drug traffickers on the northern border of Mexico." Among the other actors featured in this novela are Mark Tacher, Johanna Fadul, Christian Tappan, and Emmanuel Orenday. PATIO-SPECIFIC GLOSSARY

Patio of Lowered Expectations – A virtual location furnished with tables, umbrellas and drinks of choice. Viewers choose a table around which to congregate and support characters. Seats not reserved. Shifting to other tables usually follows shifting plot lines. Viewerville has learned that in order to enjoy this patio, love, ecstasy, hope, solid storyline and believable characters are rare, but enough to make it possible to get to La Boda at the end. (Note: In the last couple of years, bodas have fallen out of favor, replaced by a paltry El Fin—thus further lowering expectations.)

Petite Patio – This occurs when a telenovela sinks under its own weight due to an atrocious story, regardless of the quality of the cast, direction and filming. As the Patio shrinks, what is left is the Petite Patio, committed to each other, rather than to the telenovela. (JudyB, in reference to the Patio during Y Mañana Sera Otro Día.)

Good Day, Caraymates!

Welcome to pg. 2 of our afternoon delight! “Hijas” is over and done with “POR FIN!” but I’m still posting the page to allow for post commentary…and to allow for the different celebrations that the patio may want to have. Congratulations to Judy, Doris, and Anita for soldiering on and providing such extraordinary recaps. You all should receive Medals of Honor, but since I don’t have that authority, you’ll have to settle for flowers, chocolates, Oreos and wine…or feel free to BYOT (bring your own treats) to the party!!

We have “Me Declaro Culpable” starting on Monday, Feb. 17^th, so if someone would like to provide some info on that, you are very welcome to do so. Operación Pacífico is a police procedural telenovela that Telemundo promises will be very different from any shown before. It centers around heroes who fight for justice and against corruption. The protagonist is Amalia Ortega, a brave woman who is developing as a wife and mother; and, at the same time, is a Captain in a Secret Investigative Unit of the police. It will be nice to see Majida Issa as a "good guy"!

**El Señor de los Cielos ended last Friday. A new novela, Operación Pacífico, will take its place in the 10 PM time slot starting next Monday, February 10. Until then, La Doña 2 will run for two hours each day, 9-11 PM (except for Tuesday, when it was preempted by the President's annual State of the Union speech).
