El Dragón #7, 10/8/19: It’s not Personal, it’s just Business!

We begin with Miguel and Jimena meeting and Jimena accepting Miguel’s offer. She puts her purse on the table in front of her and immediately, Miguel opens the purse and takes out her pistol, disarming it. “I want an explanation” says Miguel. “Do you always carry a gun in your purse?” She apologizes and says that if she is going to work in illegal business, she has to protect herself. Miguel responds by telling her she is working in finance, not as a hitman. He further explains that her security is on him and then gives her a pen to sign the contract. “Boy, you sure know how to impress a lady,” she says. The secretary comes in and says someone is waiting outside for Miguel.

The business consultant who came to see Miguel discusses the different type of business that he can run from there. An engineering business, a construction business, and ecological business among others. Miguel says, “I need the Russians.”

El Dragon #5, 10/4/19: The Truth Kills

Last night we ended with Miguel following Karina off the yacht to her place and them mutually seducing each other, But dang…didn’t take long to forget about Asya. On the other hand, that little stunt is going to cost him because the guys taking the pictures were none other than agents for some government entity. I am guessing the IRS type since he was talking about looking good in front of the Director of the Tax Office. And Miguel is about to become the “Pez gordo,” or fat fish.

We pick up with Miguel still in Miami, I guess the night in bed with Karina gave Miguel enough references to get a meeting with the Russians, because that is where we start this Friday night episode. Miguel's business plan seems too good to be true…a large network of money laundering for various organizations without charging them a penny and without risk. They, of course think it’s too good to be true. But Miguel seems to be operating like a bank. He cleans the money but in turn earns his cut through investing in the stock market. So that’s the plan. He tells the Russians he is trying to run this plan on an international level. The agent played by our friendly Alejandro Avila (Victor, Rulli’s best friend from LQLVMR) is trying to go undercover to see what he can find out from Mr. Sanchez Morris while quite obviously, scoping out Miguel the entire time.

La Usurpadora - Capitulo 15 - "Denial ain't just a river in Egypt"

So Carlos is in Paulina’s room excitedly announcing that he will travel with her to Colombia. Paulina either panics or also has a secret crush on Carlos, because she does a very poor job of coming up with any excuses at all, and ends up acquiescing to his request. Not only that, but Carlos ends up inviting himself to sleep in one bed with her (because “while he has no problem falling asleep, he does not want to sleep alone”), but promises to behave. They are found still lounging in bed in the morning by Lisette (already made up with her goth style lipstick and eye shadow), who runs downstairs to inform the early bird breakfast crew – Piedad and Arcadia. Arcadia is over the moon, but Piedad looks less than pleased with this news. It doesn’t help that Carlos arrives and reveals their mutual travel plans.

El Dragón #4, 10/3/19: Putting Plans Into Motion

Lucky for Bernal that Miguel was at that meeting and saw him in front of the protesters.  As soon as the shots were fired Mig raced out and grabbed his schoolfriend and dragged him to safety.  Bernie asks what brought Mig there and he admits he was attending the Party of the Privileged.  Bernie complains of all the treacherous crooks that were there attending with him who were all involved in his sister's death.  They race to Mig's car and are only momentarily stopped by a group of policemen in their kevlar.  The head cop takes one look inside the fancy car and Miguel's super serious and determined expression and Bernal's wounds, then backs off.  (Viewerville supposes this will be a precursor of things to come.)

Meanwhile, Chisca learns they've run out of blow.  Well, then, time to go to one of Granpop's hiphop one stop shops to grab a pack or two.  She's stopped by one of Gramps's goons.  By order of her brother she's not permitted to enter the club.  Really?  She backs him into a corner and begins to seduce him then suddenly screams and slaps him as trying to get fresh with her and makes a big scene in front of the other goons.  First goon backs off.  She tells him he won't say squat against her and slut struts in and later out of the club with her bag of boogey.

El Dragón #3, 10/2/19: Hector Puts His Life in Danger as Miguel Watches

We open with Miguel sadly finding Aysa dead in the bathtub. Sometime later, he is in his condo, reminiscing about her. He remembers her as they once walked down a street together, showing him a card and she telling him he is the salt and she is the sea, neither one exists without the other.

The Garza siblings are at home bickering about Miguel. Chisca has a very bad attitude and Dora tells Chisca to at least have some compassion for her older brother Miguel.

In Japan, Miguel meets with his boss, Ishiro Tanaka, head of Tadamichi Securities. They sit down and Ishiro tells Miguel that he is like a Samurai without love.  Miguel tells him he is going back to Mexico. Ishiro asks if he knows what he is going to do with his home there. Miguel answers that he has no idea, that he just plans to leave it as though Aysa still lived there.

El Dragón #2, 10/1/19: You Wanted It; Now You've Got It!

Epegmenio and his loyal lapdog have tracked Miguel down at the Garza parents' graveside.  Pig tries making conversation; he tells a very observant but silent Mig that he's oh so loyal to and respectful of his abuelo, Lamberto Garza.  When Mig doesn't respond in kind with a similar effervescing of hot air, Pig wonders why.  Mig tells him the culture he's been brought up in values observation and few words.  Pig then invites him to his ranch for a celebration of Miguel's return to Mexico from China--oh Japan?  Uh, the East somewhere.  Miguel says he'll check with his grandpop to see that he approves.

Later that morning, during one of Lamb's lucid moments during their walk together, Miguel informs him of his chat with Pig.  Lamb warns him it is probably a trap.  "--All the more reason I should go."  He needs to study his enemy.

La Usurpadora - Capitulo 11 - The Parent Trap!

During the blackout at the psychiatric clinic, Facundo gets to Paulina’s room to rescue her. He tells her he knows her true identity and will help. She begs him to not disclose anything, as her mother’s life is in danger. Master villain Terry also finally got to Paulina’s room with her gun, but she is spooked by Facundo and runs out, with him in pursuit. She manages to blend in with the nurses, and pretends to be engrossed in a conversation with a couple of them (who, curiously, pay no heed to the fact that they have never seen this woman in their lives, while working - we’ll note - in a highly secure facility…) Thus Facundo loses Terry and then is promptly asked to leave the premises, when the staff realizes he does not belong there (at least someone is paying attention). No rescue for Paulina for today. Instead she debriefs with the doctor and tells him all about the scare. They decide this blackout was orchestrated by Carlos’s enemies.
