Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #108 Tuesday 12/15/15: The Battle For Baby Begins

[I must do this from memory again.]

Jenny and Daniel both finish their stay at the drunk rehab center  Jenny reclaims the faux engagement ring from Doris that she at first rejected. She swears to Dor and Orlando that she’ll never forgive Maria Dolores; DannyBoy returns home and Urrrrsula and he prepare emotionally for the court battle.

Maria Dolores spends months being locked away in her dark, dank cell trying to keep her sanity, keeping mum to Esperanza and Max during their visits as she’s been threatened to do so.  They remain clueless to all the inner machinations as Max loses every legal battle trying to get her to trial.

Ivana hires on Isela as a paralegal in her legal department.  Gerry and Tía Susanna suspect Ivaca of ulterior baby-buying/stealing motives which she denies.

Yo No Creo en los Hombres #107 Lunes 12/14/15

\
Chapter 107: Hell is Other People

Danny-Boy paced by the fountain, shaking in drug withdrawal. Jenny approached silently and precisely, eyes trained on the scuzzy worm. He finally turned around and looked at her. “Where are my pills?” he asked.
I don't know.”
Don't say things like that. If you don't have my pills, what do you want?”
You don't recognize me, do you?” she asked. “I'm Jenny. A friend of Julian's. And I'm going to give you something better than your pills.”

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres Cap 106, Fri 12/11/2015: Maria Dolores Is Still the Martyr, Isela Does Her Doe-Eyed Shtick, Claudio Won’t Take Responsibility for His Foolishness, and Clara and Leo Learn the Facts of Life

RECAP BY JDESDENYC.  Scenes combined as usual.

Lo Pasado:
Orlando comes by the Morales’ to let Isela know her apartment is ready for her to move into. Clara growls and cries as Isela seems to get away with being shady even as she lost Leo by not revealing Ise’s shadiness.

La Abuela continues to show she is the big boss in the jail as she passes by prisoners asking her for favors—she shoos them off with a “Not now”—and she lets the warden know she knows she’s the one who let Daniel come in the prison to visit Maria Dolores.  The warden lets her know that they no longer have to give MD any “special treatment” because Claudio Bustamante ordered MD to rot while awaiting trial. The warden and La Abuela both smile at this.

Lo Nuevo:

Not in My Name
Claudio comes by Isela’s apartment and promises Isela he’ll be there for her child.  Isela balks, saying she can parent by herself, but Claudio says that their child is a shared responsibility.  Ise asks if that means Claudio will give the child his last name, legally recognizing him or her as his own.

Weekend Discussion: Recap Authors, What Series Was Your Biggest Challenge?

This is also a forum for recap authors to talk about how we go about what we do.

I'm going into my fifth year of writing for this blog and most of it has been fun and interesting.  My first series was La Fuerza del Destino in 2011 where I caught most of the juicy episodes about the character we called Merry Piece and I felt privileged for that.  There were a few truly great performances in that series and some wooden ones and we all take the good with the bad.

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres, Capitulo 105 Thurs 12/10/15: There's no sweet end, only the bitter aftertaste

Even after all he’s Done, MD would forgive Daniel (she is Esperanza’s daughter, after all), but then he’d never learn. Looks like she’s already preparing to change the dynamic; Daniel Junior won’t get Ursula remixed in wide-eyed MD. Daniel argues that the thing with Julian was an accident. He would have never tried to hurt her, he didn’t want Julian to die; he was just trying to get the gun away from her. If they stick with that, she’ll get out quickly and they can’t accuse Dan of anything (um…hold up on that second part). No dice with MD; Dan pushed her to the brink, drove her to a point where she felt she had to use a gun. Dan’s lawyer jumps in here to say it’ll take months to prove that, months in which she’ll stay in prison. And for what? Julian’s already dead-CRACK! MD slaps him across the face and yells at him and Dan will pay for everything he’s done to her before stomping off. In response Dan swears she’ll be sorry if she does anything rash.

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #104, Wed. 12/9/15: Unexpected Divorces, Separations and Marriage Proposals

The Old: Max tells Leo that his irrational, enraged reaction proves they were all right in deciding not to tell him the truth. MD learns from Nayeli and Corina that no one in the prison will accept her money to buy necessities, on orders of La Abuela. MD goes off to confront her. Josefa tells Ursula that now that they are part of the Mothers Who Have Dead Daughters Club, they should totally be BFFs and partners in crime. In exchange for Ursula’s help finding out what really happened to Marta in jail, Josefa will make sure MD rots in jail and Ursula gets her kid.

The New:
Josefa tells Ursula that her daughter’s death involved a scandal with Claudio and the woman who’s the current prison warden of MD’s prison. If Ursula digs up the dirt on the Warden and the events around Marta’s death, then they could put pressure on her to keep MD locked up, forever! Josefa sweetens the deal by offering to testify against MD and to get Honoria to do it too.

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #103 Tuesday 12/8/15: Let’s Make a Deal III

  • Claudio tells his judge buddy to make sure Maria Dolores’s trial is pushed off into the far distant future—as long as legally possible. (Viewerville can only assume he’s still being manipulated by Grrrsula to protect his professional and social reputation. Clod really needs to just hang it up, just stop digging himself into a deeper and deeper hole.)
  • We learn from the Young Prisoner #3 that woman wait up to years before getting their day in court.
  • Maria Dolores gets out of the infirmary and tells her friends that La Abuela tried giving her medicine but she didn’t take it. She learns that La Abuela is in jail for cutting off the nose of her grandson. Yeppers. She’s BSC. MD beware!

Yo No Creo en los Hombres #102 Lunes 12/7/15

Chapter 102: Crocodile Tears

Maleny sat in the chair at the desk. She did not look at her mother, her brother, or the two accomplices in the room.
I don't blame you. Now I take in my own hands the only thing I'm grateful you gave me. My life.”
She then raised the pistol to her temple and fired. She fell to the floor, overturning the chair.
Úrsula's jaw dropped and she cried out. Danny-Boy began to cry. Jacinto froze. His eyes bugged out. Arango closed his eyes in pain.
You didn't do this. It was Daniel!” Úrsula cried. “It was Daniel.”
Daniel ran out. Isidro entered the room and stopped dead.

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #100, Wed 12/2/15: In Which Someone Finally Says the Name of the Telenovela

Julian’s Last Wishes
Adrian, Orlando and Doris sit Fermin down and review Julian’s last wishes, and loose ends to tie up. Orly will take care of selling his car, Adrian will take care of selling Julian’s part of their business, and the money will go to Fermin and Honoria, who will need it more than ever. Adrian also reveals the life insurance policy Julian took out (to take care of his parents), and the contract he signed where he paid for a shop for Esperanza’s business—it was a surprise he had planned for MD’s wedding. He also wanted to invest in MD’s and Doris’ business. Fermin breaks down in tears over his thoughtful son. Honoria emerges from Julian’s bedroom just long enough to spew her venom and to refuse any last wishes Julian had to help his murderer (MD) and her family. She also curses God once more, and decides she’s no longer speaking to God, but instead to the dead.

Fermin leaves her to her suffering to go see if he can pull Jenny from the brink. She’s still drinking in her apartment, but has finally changed into sweats from her red dress. After he knocks a few minutes and begs her to let them mutually support each other through this pain, she finally lets him in. She offers him a drink, because she knows he needs it as much as she does. Fermin stays strong and refuses. He made a sacred promise to his wife and son. He wisely points out to Jenny that she just exchanged her addiction to alcohol for an addiction to Julian—and has fallen back to alcohol now that Julian is gone. This gives Jenny pause.

Yo No Creo EnLos Hombres #99 Tue 12/1/15 -- Life Catches Up To Claudio And Alma Stops Playing The Fool

[Briefly as possible, there are only a few highlights in this miserably overlong episodio.  --ed.]
  • Josefa the angry Jefa knows she is in trouble this time cuz she just bashed Isela's head on the terrazzo floor, and Ise is lying there totally unconscious and bleeding.  She raced out to get help from the barrio version of Dumb and Dumber, screaming for a taxi.  (I guess ambulances are a luxury.)   Of course,  Max and Leo, who've just come for Esperanza and Clara in hopes they'd stay a while at mom and pop's palace while the Honoria Horror Show of Hate dies down, helps out the Heffer.  Ho-sey lies (natch) about how Ise ended up unconscious and bloody on her floor.  "--duh-h, she just suddenly passed out and dropped and hit her head."

  • Claudio, who found Alma in pain in the bathroom and nearly passed out from that, takes her to the hospital.  She's quickly now becoming a pain herself, getting up and out of bed, schlepping her hanging bags and tubes all around, and thus sneaking up behind Clod in every whispered conversation, getting in the old hubby's face everywhere he turns.  She, in this way, manages to overhear the phone call that Leo makes explaining they've found Ise bashed and bloody and wanting to know which hospital is best to bring her to.  Clod naturally suggests the one he's at now, and then explains Mom's there taking up a bed also.

Yo No Creo en los Hombres #98 Lunes 11/30/15

Chapter 98: A War in Hell

A newspaper vendor hawked the front page headlines, just like in an old movie. Honoria stared at the vendor as Julian's coffin was carried into the church by Orlando, Adrian, and two other guys from the neighborhood. She paused at the entrance to the courtyard. Her face was like stone. When the coffin was rested in front of Padre Juan, Orlando stood beside Doris.

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres, #97 Friday 11/27/15 The Enemy List Grows

Max and MD exchange rings through the bars of the local jail. They don't need a church or a judge, they consider themselves married.

Orlando returns to Josefa with Doris in tow, to ream her out for destroying his shop. Josefa accuses him of kidnapping her. She said that if he withdraws his report on her involvement of the theft of his stuff from the shop, she will withdraw her report of him kidnapping her. But she’s still furious that he made her miss all the good stuff that happened while she was trapped in the shop. She stomps off and Doris holds Orlando back from following her.
Doris convinces him that he should let it go, they have the money from her Nanis to start a new shop, and after everything that has happened, she can’t withstand Orlando being in jail and having to deal with everything without him being there for support. Orlando feels very guilty for spending the time to take Josefa away because if they hadn’t done that, he would have been there in time to stop what happened and Julian would still be alive. They cry together over the loss of Orlando’s best friend, a very sweet loving scene.

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres Thursday 11/26/15: What was in that turkey? aka Rerun?

Hey guys, I've checked several times last night and again now (after getting some sleep) and as far as I know, last night's episode was Wednesday's episode all over again. Let me know if that happened to you all too, or if I'm stuck in another dimension. Thanks!

Yo No Creo en los Hombres #96, Wed 11/25/15: Boda de Sangre

Caray! I need a stiff drink after watching this episode. I’m not going to go into a lot a detail and dwell on all the rotten things that happened. Pour a strong drink, and grab a turkey leg! Happy Thanksgiving!

Let’s start with the only good from this episode. All the ladies looked smashing in their different shades of red for the wedding. Jenny was almost unrecognizable when she arrived at the church on Adrian’s arm. MD also ended up wearing red, but that wasn’t intentional…Let’s get to it, shall we.

MD and Julian have their heart to heart about how they have been each other’s wind beneath their wings. MD made Julian fight to go further than anyone thought he would. Julian gave MD courage when she needed it. There’s a knock at the door, and MD and Julian assume it’s Orlando returned to bring them to the Church, and not her rapist/homicidal ex-boyfriend/fake husband. Unfortunately, it IS Dan!

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #95 Tue 11/24/15--Wedding Bells And Death Knells or, Like a Bad Penney, Daniel Always Turns Up

·       Alma hisses at arrogant Ari to get lost before she calls the police on him.  He leaves and Clara and Esperanza put her to bed.  Alma hints at Clara to keep mum same as before with Leo; that he’s old enough to realize there are times when discretion is the better part of valor—i.e., it’s more courageous than outrageous to keep quiet as opposed to blabbing the hurtful truth to all around you.  When Clara and Espy object, Alma hisses that she’ll handle things herself in this matter because these are people who’ve been loving and helpful and she doesn’t want to lose their continued support. Throughout the rest of the episodio she suffers in silence but doesn’t let on that she knows.

·       Josefa lets Isela know in no uncertain terms that she knows Ise’s trying to steal something out of the box.  The picture?  Why?  Because the suicide note has handwriting that doesn’t appear to be her sister’s and Ise thinks it could be Hosie’s.  Hosie writes on the back of the picture so A the Little Lawyer Man (Arin?) can have it analyzed also.  Hosie wants an answer to the “who done it?” same as Ise does.

Chapter 94: Plans of Rats and Men

Arango pointed out to Úrsula that Danny-Boy was her only weakness. She had no understanding of drug addiction. He had taken something that was extremely addictive. She had to wait for him to shake off the effect of the drugs. The doorbell rang during his lecture. As he started another point, Isidro walked in behind Ari, who was dragging his suitcase.

Yo No Creo En Los Hombres Capitúlo 93, Fri November 20, 2015, Or, What's Done In The Dark Comes to Light

RECAP BY JdesdeNYC

Scenes combined for clarity

Lo Pasado
Leo breaks up with Clara, saying she hides information just like MD, since she knew his mother was sick and didn't tell him.

Maleny's quest for truth continues as she meets with the sixth man, Aron Valezquez, a ballistics expert, who knows more information about her Dad's murder. Maleny thinks he won't tell her the truth about the facts of the case. On the contrary, he says he involved himself in the investigation because Claudio promised he would not be named in the peritaje (expert report), and because of that fact, he can tell Mal whatever she wants to know, since in the case he officially does not exist.

Max explains to MD why his father helped Ursula get Dan out of jail and she tells him his father and Isela are having an affair.

Lo Nuevo

MAX LAWYERS HIS WAY TO THE TRUTH
At first, Max doesn't want to believe MD about the affair, saying his Dad is incapable of treating Alma that way. He insists that Claudio has been un hombre ejemplar (exemplary or ideal man) and un esposo intachable (a husband of flawless, impeccable or faultless reputation). Orlando saw them kissing, MD responds. "Orlando has had loads of problems with my father. He'll say anything about him." MD is exasperated as she tells him Isela confessed to her that she was sleeping with Claudio. Max finally starts to believe at this statement and then gets mad at MD for not telling him earlier. "I didn't tell you for a lot of reasons but most of all because you told me your Mom needed calm, peace and quiet."

Yo No Creo en los Hombres #92, Wed 11/18/15: Isela and Ivana Confront Their Abusers, But Find They are Looking in a Warped Mirror

Max solemnly greets Clara and tells her the reason Leo hasn’t been answering her calls is because Alma revealed last night that she has cancer. Not only that, but she also told them that her cancer has advanced and she does not plan on getting treatment. Leo took it badly and slept curled up with Alma. Clara understands how devastated they must all be, says she will call Leo later, and makes a quick exit.

Up north, Doris joins Nana Chelito at the dining table, and scolds Chelito for eating all that delicious looking bread, when diabetes runs in her family. Chelito basically tells her she’s already old, and she didn’t get to enjoy the good things in life when she was young because she was always working—not even going out with male suitors. Doris wonders if that means that Nana has never done the deed. Chelito basically responds that she’s got her own secrets and it’s none of Doris’ business. Doris starts complaining that she’ll be in the same boat with Orlando ‘cause he won’t give up the goodies under wraps in his package. Chelito doesn’t understand young women today. In the old days, women would beat lousy men off with a stick to keep their grubby paws off them. Now, women don’t appreciate a good man who respects them. She asks if Doris doesn’t think she saw what went on (or didn’t) on that couch last night? (That’s right, Doris. You should be blushing.) If she wants someone like Ari, he’s there waiting for her. But don’t waste Orly’s time. Doris points out that these days, sex is no big deal if the two people love each other. Chelito’s advice is to enjoy the courtship, and allow love and respect to grow over time.

Yo No CreoEn Los Hombres #91 Tue 11/17/15: Mother and Son Reunions

(I’m doing this from memory cuz I’m in a hurry today.  If I got it wrong or left any out, my apologies.)

Daniel, smelling and looking like  sewer rat after slinking off from prison at his release, grabs hold of Maria Delores, pulls Julian out of his wheelchair and into the street, and then threatens  her and throws another guilt trip on her.  He then races off up to Josefa’s apartment, bangsing till she lets him in.  Julian is lying in the street but MD takes the time to help him back into his wheelchair and screams for him or somebody to call the police.

Daniel finds the cell phone and calls Ursula to tell her to pick him up from there.  He then makes his way to Hosie’s kitchen and holds her off at knifepoint while grabbing food out of the kitchen.  She convinces him—one sewer rat to another-- that they should make a pact  to wreck MD’s and Max’s wedding by blurting out the truth about Claudio and Isela’s affair.  “—That news will stop the wedding for certain!”  He agrees.
