La Fea Más Bella #243 3/30/07 Comments from the Peanut Gallery *with commercials*
And to maximize the thrills, I'm including the commercials. I'm sparing you none of the excitement!
Breakup finale
After Fern breaks up with Marcia, he takes his little bitty bag of hope and leaves Marcia's apartment FOREVER (we hope).
Oops no - just as he's getting to the door, Marcia comes out of her room to watch him. He turns to her, and she waits hopefully for him to speak.
He says "adios." And with that, he's gone. Marcia cries some more.
Exit night, enter light
It's morning. Luigi gathers his courage and raps at the door of Aldo's rented home. As Aldo approaches the door, Luigi begins squeaking with terror and says please don't answer the door if you're still mad at me! Aldo smiles tolerantly as Luigi explains that Rulli's waiting for him and they're getting back together and going on a vacation.
Aldo says that's good, and Luigi is relieved, because he thought Aldo would be furious with him after the stunts he pulled last night. Aldo notes that it would have been worse if those pranks hadn't completely failed. Luigi babbles some more and expresses more embarrassment over how stupid he was. He begs Aldo's pardon and says he admires Aldo, not only as a man, and a professional chef, and doesn't want to lose his friendship.
Aldo gives him a hug and suggests they continue working together after Luigi comes back from his vacation. He gives Luigi an affectionate pat on the behind, which delights Luigi, and sends him on his way. He gratuitously flashes his Ultra-Brite smile at the camera.
The Vortex of Infinite Stupidity
The cuartel arrives en masse, as usual. They're back in their usual clothes, hair, and makeup, which is mostly a blessing. Martha says her big fat wolf loved her new look, they reheated their dinner (?) and she told him all about the cuartel's triumph. Sara dramatically says that if it hadn't been for the cuartel, the expo's grand opening would have been a disaster.
Irma says it changed their attitude. Sara says they're no longer the same as they were.
Aldo enters the vortex with a great big wrapped present. They bid him a very fond hello and want to know about the present. He says it's going directly to the president. (Oh no... what is it this time... a bowling ball-sized pearl... a monster ladyparts seashell sculpture... a water fountain that's slightly bigger than the one Fern gave her... a lobster... something crummy he bought from a poor kid at the airport....) He gets a phone call and excuses himself.
The cuartel giddily speculates as to what's in the box... PM wonders if it's a gigantic sparkly ring. (She's so cute, it's too bad she has no brain.) Juana guesses that it's a big bag of money. Sara thinks it's a nice tall grandfather clock. Irma thinks it's - hey, I like this - she thinks that to begin their newly changed attitude, maybe they could stop gossiping!
In Lety's office
The novelty of Aldo's daily gifts hasn't worn off yet for Lety. She (wearing something that looks pretty nice) is delighted and opens the box right away. She looks inside and is speechless. Inside is a much smaller box, covered in black velvet. She peeks inside and slams it shut, impactada! She opens it again and we see that it's a...
NECKLACE!
"What the hell do you call this? When I saw the little box, I was expecting a ring!" Lety exclaims in disgust. No she doesn't. But that's what I thought I saw on her face for a minute there.
She reads the card, which tells her that "keeping hope alive is part of the success in life." "And in love," Aldo adds. It's no Carvajallmark, but Lety is charmed. Aldo shoos the cuartel away and shuts the door. He tells her it's to mark her successful presidency. Inside the heart is the fire of his love, which never fails to win (something like that). Lety says sometimes the heart can lose all of its battles. He says they're just battles, not the whole war. And he's sure he'll win this war. Lety walks around her desk to give him one of her "special child" (for want of a better, more PC term) hugs and tells him that's what she wants the most. Again it looks like there's going to be a kiss, but then there isn't. "Really, Leticia?" he asks. "Do you really wish you loved me?"
Lety says of course, but they should change the subject because they have to work. He asks if she likes the chain. Now maybe someone can help me out with this, because I'm not sure what is happening. He says "may I?" and she says yes and he takes the chain off of her and then apparently puts it back on. Is he removing the medallion that Psychic Guy gave her and replacing it with the heart? Or is she not wearing the medallion at all... or... I'm confused.
Meanwhile she's talking about their commercials for overseas and she has appointments, etc. And he says it's also time to evaluate the results. Lety says soon they'll find out if they've earned the 2,166,666 dollars they need to pay Conceptos's debts. (She is wincing nervously as Aldo puts the new necklace on her and smells her ear.) He tells her he's going to his office and check up on the progress of his restaurant. He tells her he's done (putting on the necklace) and she wiggles away and giggles nervously.
Commercials!: Nuestra Belleza Latina; Bailando por la Boda de mis Sueños; DVD; send money to your pals; sanitary pads (not pitched by Juan Soler); credit cards; CDs; Easter sale at the place that isn't Wal-Mart.
Back in the vortex
The cuartel are disappointed to have been shut out of Lety's office and Irma scolds them again for their gossip. Lola whines, but Irma says they'll feel better when they become the New Cuartel. Some of them agree, but not PM. And Martha says she'd rather die. And Lola doesn't know what they'll talk about. Sara pompously tells them they can talk about... uh... many things.
"Lots," says Irma vaguely. "Big things," she says uncertainly. Sara prompts Lola to talk about something. Lola says all she's got is her stuff about El Cheque and alimony. Martha says she'd rather have a really good piece of gossip than a "torta cubana" with ham. (A "torta cubana" is the Mexican version of a Cuban sandwich... it's a long story, but the short version is, they're good to eat.)
Irma says if they really can't manage it, she'll offer incentives. Martha suggests tostadas, tacos, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. Sara says instead of incentives, how about punishments. Lola thinks she's been getting punishments all her life, but Juana and Irma like the idea.
Aldo comes out after he finishes putting Lety's necklace on her. They all get giddy again. As soon as he's gone, PM wonders if maybe Lety didn't sleep well last night. Martha wonders how anyone could sleep without knowing which bed Fern slept in! Lola attributes her own sleeplessness to being excited about Aldo being in love with Lety. They all squeal.
Sara (of the no-gossip contingent) wants to know what the three of them are talking about. Lola says they should form a musical group. Martha and PM eagerly agree. "You're not gossiping, right?" Sara asks sternly. They deny. "Remember, we're the new cuartel - prudent, sensible, humble," Sara says. (Oh my God, I just realized she probably hit her head on something! She's losing her mind! That's the only possible explanation for her bizarre behavior!)
"You're right," Lola says, and Sara goes back to her desk. The other three resume their gossip - did he or did he not sleep with Carla, did he go see Marcia, etc. Irma comes back from Luigiland and they pretend they're talking about food or something. They assure Irma that they are definitely not gossiping, they're being top-notch executive secretaries - serious, respectable, discreet.
They applaud themselves, which cues the arrival of the biggest clown of them all, Alicia. Talking on the phone and wearing a nice (if too small, as usual) steel grey outfit. (Actually, if they're going to truss her up any tighter, maybe steel wouldn't be such a bad idea, as long as they keep her away from magnets.) She's on the phone with Papi, as usual. She tells him the expo was a huge success, thanks to her. She's dead-tired from working so hard! (See? Clowns are funny!)
She says goodbye to her Papi. "Tell him I said hi," Sara says jokingly. Dumb, pointless, insipid conversation follows. They brag about their successful performance; the oxigenada says they're circus performers, etc. "We applaud you, Cornilocks" PM tells Alicia. Alicia says she applauds her dog when it "gives thanks" (I'm thinking she means "makes peepee").
Passing through the Vortex, Fern greets them and asks for Aldo. Sara tries to tell him something, but he's already gone. Alicia goes to her desk and the rest of them flock together to gossip. Martha says she's surprised to see him intact; maybe he didn't go to see Marcia as they had thought. Irma gives them a hard time about gossiping, as well as fighting with Alicia. They'll have to do something nice for Alicia as punishment. (Wow, Irma's mean!)
Deep thoughts with Aldo DomensaEEN
Aldo is just finishing a phone call about business (the commercials, not the restaurant) when Fern comes in. Fern pretends to be surprised that Aldo is still there. He said he figured that after the expo, Aldo would leave and they could use his office for storage, or it could be an office for useless things. Aldo invites Fern to become the king of the office, if he wants it.
Fern says he thinks Aldo's work on the expo is finished, he doesn't have to continue hanging around Conceptos, right? Aldo says he's sorry to tell Fern that he's terribly mistaken. He's still going to be there for a long time. Fern says it's his job, and they don't need Aldo, and Fern especially doesn't need Aldo on his team. Aldo says Lety needs him on her team. Fern says he's funny. They both laugh sarcastically at one another.
Fern tells Aldo he should go back to Acapulco and his restaurant because something something (about a blacksmith?) wants their chef's personal attention. Or the manager could be stealing money. Aldo has to go check to make sure the customers are paying for their meals.
Aldo asks if money is the only thing Fern cares about, because Aldo doesn't do it for the money. (That's what all the multimillionaires say!) Fern says what a great philanthropist Aldo is - he saw someone like that in a movie.
Aldo calms himself and says he's not leaving until he's finished with his commitment. He just spoke to Guillermo, and guess what? He wants Aldo to continue running things, as Fern's boss. Fern touches an animal figurine on Aldo's desk. Aldo takes it away from him and then waves it at Fern, making some kind of animal noise. "Oh, Fernando," he calls as Fern is leaving. "What?" Aldo waves goodbye. Fern waves back angrily and closes the door.
Aldo makes an angry neck-wringing gesture.
Meet the new improved Beatnik Marcia
Marcia enters the Vortex wearing an interesting black sorta beatnik-looking outfit which is really cool except for maybe the strange cap (not unlike the one Carla wore in NY, except smaller). She gives the cuartel a chilly hello. Alicia rushes up to her, wanting to know about last night. She adds that the cuartel has done nothing all day except gossip. Sara denies this. Martha says they're the New Cuartel. "Uglier than yesterday, that's for sure," Alicia says. Marcia says she's not interested and she's not in the mood. She stalks off to her office, followed by Alicia, who apparently IS in the mood.
Lola and PM can't wait to begin gossiping about THIS. Sara warns them. (Fern listens curiously behind them.) Martha whines that not-gossiping will make her sick. Fern dashes across the lobby.
Commercials!: Destilando Amor (anyone notice Ana-Leticia Villaroel was the madam in tonight's episode?); Selena special; cell phones; CD; nightclub in Randolph; dish; newsbrief.
Alicia follows Marcia into her office, wanting to know everything. (Marcia's office has been redecorated in a very green scheme; I just remembered, when Humberto talked Marcia out of quitting, wasn't one of his anecdotes about how Marcia picked out the colors for the decor? If so, she must REALLY hate the ultra-green of her office; it's a far cry from the more neutral tones it had before.) Marcia scolds Alicia for mentioning things in front of "Lety's spies."
Meanwhile, Lety's spies - what's left of them, just Martha, PM, and Lola - are trying to figure out how to get the information they need without Sara catching them. Lola says she has a classic idea - she pitches forward as if having some type of attack. She asks Sara to help her. Sara lifts her up and carries her to the restroom. "The things I have to do for gossip," Martha says, hurrying to Marcia's open door. There isn't much to hear yet, since Alicia is still talking about nothing.
Marcia then says that Fern left Carla at the hotel and came to her apartment to break up with her. He gave her no options - he told her he didn't love her. Alicia says Fern always says that, but they always get together again. Marcia says it was different this time - he took away his things. He's not coming back to her. Alicia asks if this is about that Carla chick.
Marcia notices the door is open and hisses at Alicia to close it; the company is filled with ears! (Martha scurries away.) Alicia calls her paranoid, but she looks outside; seeing "no cockroaches," she closes the door just to be sure. She asks Marcia what excuses Fern gave her to end the relationship.
Marcia says that Fern's still in love with Lety. Alicia is impactada.
Meanwhile, in the administrative boardroom (that is, the ladies' restroom), PM and Sara comfort Lola, who seems to have made a miraculous recovery. Martha rushes in to update them on the latest gossip: Fern broke up with Marcia for good. PM wants to tell Lety right away and rushes out. Sara yells at them; Lola suffers another "attack." Sara suspiciously asks if Lola is pregnant.
Commercials!: Nuestra Belleza Latina; newsbrief; cell phones; Bailando Por la Boda de Mis Sueños; used car dealer in Leominster; seashell skin cream; eat your vegetables.
In Lety's office
Lety's talking business on the phone with Ricky Armstrong; she's pretty sure Conceptos made the 2,166,666 dollars they needed. Paula Maria wanders in looking lost; maybe she got a golpe en la cabeza too. Lety says goodbye to Ricky, and PM prepares to share the exciting news with Lety. Lety says that if it's about Fern, she doesn't want to hear it. PM says if she can't share her gossip, she'll need better pay! Lety begs for mercy and even puts her fingers in her ears and sings lalalalala. PM says, "you don't want to know that Fern and Marcia ended their relationship permanently?" Lety says nope, she doesn't care. It's not even the first time they've split up. She supposes it's because Marcia saw him with Miss Carla, but they'll get back together again, she can promise that.
PM says no, she didn't break up with him... HE broke up with HER. He's not coming back to her. He took his things. Lety asks if PM is sure. PM explains that Martha heard Marcia say it to Alicia, and Martha told them, and it's PM's job to let the president know what's going on around the office. Lety says it's not work stuff. PM says the important thing is that Lety finds out things before making drastic decisions.
"He did it for Carla," Lety says, looking for reasons not to get her hopes up. PM sarcastically says sure, right, it was CARLA who moved him like no other, uh-huh. But then, Aldo's in love with her too. Lety admits she doesn't know what to do or not do, but she hasn't forgotten about Aldo - if she didn't have him around, she wouldn't be able to tolerate that place a moment longer. She thanks PM for her support. PM says she'll be there for her any time she needs a friend.
Alone, Lety tearfully muses that Carla affected Fern in a way that she wasn't able to. She changed Fern's heart.
In the green room
The cool beatnik chick is telling an incredulous Alicia that only Lety was able to change Fernando. Alicia argues loudly; Marcia loudly asks her to keep her voice down so the whole company doesn't find out that Fern is in love with Lety.
Marcia says that when he was in love with her, he told her that she was luminous, that he would like to lose himself in her; the reason he no longer loved her was partly her fault.
"YOUR fault? I can't believe he told you that!" Alicia exclaims in outrage.
"Fernando spoke of two Marcias, a marvelous one he fell in love with, and another one - crazy, jealous, possessive, oppressive, smothering."
"And which one were you?" Alicia asks, confused. Hey... maybe SHE got hit on the head too.
Marcia admits that her anxiety made her controlling, but she's not sure if Fern only said that to assuage his own conscience, or.... (I'm thinking maybe Marcia should watch some of those episodes where she'd get even angrier when she DIDN'T find any evidence of his infidelity...) And then when Fernando finally took his things home for the first time ever, that's when she realized she'd lost him forever.
Alicia is sympathetic, not only to Marcia's pain but also her own. She tells Marcia not to put it that way - it'll make her cry.
Marcia says she doesn't want to lose Fern, because she still loves him, even after all this. She loves him with all her heart.
Commercials!: Destilando Amor; paper towels; prescription drugs; Nuestra Belleza Latina; boner pills; nightclub in Randolph; Sintonice Pachanga Latina (some sort of gossip show I think).
In the bathroom
Sara continues to stare at Lola and Martha disapprovingly. Lola and Martha decide that if Sara, Juana, and Irma don't want any part of their gossip, that's their problem. Sara's disappointed that the team is falling apart, they're putting their personal interests first when the should stick together for Lety. She scolds them - do they want Lety to continue suffering over Fernando? If they keep talking to her about Fernando, she'll never be able to get married to Aldo! They have to help her forget about that cheating man.
Sara tells them she'll forgive them this one time because she's a kind-hearted woman, but if they do it again she'll tell Irma and they'll be punished severely. She kicks them out of the bathroom and tells them to get back to work. She congratulates herself on her badness.
Oh gosh I'm just so worried about this terrible rift among friends, oh the angst, I can't bear it.
Blah blah blah
Alicia asks Marcia if she's just going to take this with her arms crossed. Marcia says no, but she has to think, she's very confused. Alicia angrily says she'd better do something, not only because Fern broke up with her, but also because he put the blame on her.
Marcia smirks and notes that Lety doesn't trust him, and Marcia's not going to make it easy for him. Alicia reminds her that Fern made it clear - he doesn't want anything to do with her. Marcia says that where there was fire, there's now ashes. Alicia says yes, but there's a saying, something about the present and the future, and dancing at Chalma. That sounds like it might be funny, but I don't quite understand it.
Marcia says that after what happened between Fern and Lety, Fern knows that he can't get Lety back, because he betrayed her, so maybe the doors aren't completely closed against Marcia after all. (Oh Marcia, make up your mind!)
Alicia asks what Marcia is going to do. Marcia says she's not going to lose hope for now. She knows that Fern can only be happy if he's with her. (Cuckoo... cuckoo... cuckoo...)
Angst in the Vortex
PM, Lola, and Martha try to arrange another "meeting" to gossip. Sara wants to "help." They turn down her offer and she watches suspiciously again as they huddle and whisper. PM tells them Lety didn't take kindly to the information about Fern being with the "executive from New York." Martha wonders why Lety is so upset about Fern when she can have the lovely Aldo. (Sara watches them through narrowed eyes.) Martha says it's like having a piece of chocolate and not being able to eat it.
Irma comes over and wants to know what they're talking about. Lola insists it's about her cousin Rupert. Martha says something about an árbol with the accent over the A. PM says they were looking over her little boy's homework. Irma says she thinks maybe they're just doing the same stuff - gossiping.
Carloca shows up. She's wearing a really sweater, but it has wide black stripes and there's a WIDE BELT between the stripes so it just looks like one big long black piece around the middle. "Hi Miss Carla," they sing in unison. Carla laughs and says it reminds her of grade school. She asks for Fern. Sara solemnly offers to inform Fern that he has a guest.
In the Rehash Room
Fern is looking at a report and talking to himself, saying that Aldo will have to leave the company someday. Sara knocks and comes in. Fern is too absorbed in his dreamworld to notice that she's there, and gets up to answer the door. He is gratuitously impactado to see that it's her - after all, she knocked - is it really her, or did they switch her with a double? Oh, hahahaha. He rewards her with a pencil and wonders if she took a course on how to be more respectful of her boss's privacy.
Sara says she wants to inform him that Carla is here to see him. "How formal," he says. She asks if she can tell Carla to come in. She thanks him and says it was a pleasure to announce her.
I'm telling you. Head injuries would explain a lot. I just would like to know how so many Conceptos employees happened to get head injuries all at the same time.
Sara goes back to the Vortex to fetch Carla, who's examining PM's scary talons. She tells Carla that Fern will see her. She offers to show her to his office.
Alone with Fern at last, Carloca tries to kiss him. He dodges her advances, gives her the lesser seat, and kisses her hand. She comments on Sara's "discreet" behavior and asks what he did last night. He tells her he split up with Marcia forever. It wasn't easy because they'd been together four years. "And she still loves you, right?" Carla asks.
Fern says he felt really bad, they had both made errors, most of them his, and she had suffered a great deal because of him, and he feels very guilty. Carla says he finally made a decision that was good for both of them. The past can't be changed, but we can learn from it and not make the same mistakes again.
And how did Marcia take it, Carla wants to know? Fern says Marcia didn't want to break up, of course. Carla asks if Fern is relieved. He says yes, very much so.
"Great!" Carla replies, preparing to move in for the kill.
Next week
Lety, Marcia, Fern, and Carla meet in the boardroom for a rollicking fun game of Twister.

Zorro: la espada y la rosa - March 29, 2007
* Montero and Pizarro are out having drinks at the local pub and discussing Esmeralda and her secret dowry and inheritance. Pizarro asks what Montero plans to do if Esmeralda or Diego interfere, Montero has specific ideas to stop them. Before Pizarro leaves, Montero gives him a message for MA.
* Don Alej and PT make a surprise visit to Don Fer at his home. He is with his daughter MA and his butler in the office. Don Alej warns Don Fer not to harm MP in anyway or else. Don Fer sends MA out of the room, this conversation isn't for a lady to hear. When she's safely out of earshot range, Don Fer and Don Alej start to argue over MP and why Don Fer kidnapped her. Don Alej antagonizes Don Fer; Don Fer puts his foot down and says MP is his. PT chimes in that MP is a nun and belongs to G*d and the church. Don Fer says bah-humbug to that. The argument continues to excalate - Don Fer pulls out his sword to challenge Don Alej to a duel - Don Alej pulls out his sword as acceptance.
* Tobias and Cata sit and talk with the Maestro in the living room. Tobias offers his guest very excellent hospitality and says that Cata will take care of all the arrangements for whatever he wants - Tobias asks Cata to agree - Cata leaves. Tobias and the Maestro discuss Maestro's memories of Zorro.
* Diego and Esmeralda continue their conversation about what to do; Esmeralda insists that he has a particular mission to fulfill as Zorro and needs to focus on it, while she will stay in her marriage to Montero; Diego doesn't like the idea, and doesn't want to let her go; Esmeralda insists that they have to break it off completely and he needs to go and marry MA. He reluctantly agrees. He suggests using Dena to pass messages to one another - Esmeralda negates the idea, and says they need to break up completely. He leaves sad. Esmeralda whispers to herself that she will always love Diego and won't ever forget.
* Don Alej and Don Fer are still jousting through the hallway and into the dining room. PT, Dena and MA and the butler stand in the doorway and watch horrified as the two fight. As Don Alej falls into the chair, Don Fer presses on top of him - stand-off. Dena yells for them to stop. They break apart; stand up; and spout off to one another which antagonizes them to start sword fighting again. PT steps into the room to stop them.
* The stable boy guard talks with MP in the barn.
* Zorro rides his horse out to a hillside that night.
* Sor. Loca drags her "black angel" back to the convent - Sor. Carola freaks out and is scared of someone finding the escaped slave there - Sor. Locoo tells her they have to help him; PT will understand.
* As Don Fer swipes his sword on Don Alej's arm, PT steps in between Don Fer and Don Alej and orders them to stop and drop their swords. Don Alej wants to know where MP is; Don Fer promises to bring her to him tomorrow. "I hope so," says Don Alej.
* MP tells the stable boy guard that tomorrow will be a very "different" day. (she's planning something, but what could it be?)
* MA walks downstairs - Montero is waiting by the fireplace for her. She tells him it was difficult to leave the house with Don Alej and her father sword fighting. He is irritated as she mentions Diego and Esmeralda - he pulls her close to him - she breaks free - he tries again to grab hold of her - she slaps him - he grabs her and kisses her neck.
* Dressed in black, Esmeralda leaves the house - she orders the soldier guards to get her horse, she wants to visit her husband at his office. They leave. She thinks about what Diego told her, and apologizes as she decides that she needs to focus on freeing her mother (SK).
* Diego and PT meet and discuss Don Fer's reason for kidnapping his aunt (MP). He needs to try and rescue her.
* Esmeralda gets on her horse and rides away.
* In the bathroom, Maestro has fallen on the floor and can't get up. Tobias finds him on the floor naked and calls for Cata to help pick him up. Cata sees Maestro and shields her eyes until Tobias puts a towel on him. Maestro is blabbering about Zorro - Tobias and Cata carry him out of the bathroom.
* Diego leaves PT and his father. PT and Don Alej discuss Diego's changing attitudes lately; also Don Alej mentions Don Fer and the courageous effort on PT's part makes him think PT is almost as strong as he and Don Fer. PT denies it.
* Don Fer visits MP in the barn. He asks if she's changed her mind - MP says no, not one bit. He gets angry and frustrated with her stubbornness against him, and threatens to take it out on all the indian tribes and those she cares about. MP blasts back and scolds him for his hostile violent attitude against the minorites (indians).
* Novice Sor. walks into the storeroom and shrieks when she discovers the black slave laying sleeping on the floor. Sor. Carola calmly escorts her out of the storeroom to another room to explain.
* Sor. Loca stands before the Cardinal and confesses all her sins and is ready to repent. Cardinal has several tough questions for Sor. Loca starting with why she said and planted evidence against MP. Sor. Loca has no excuse except for being human. Cardinal continues to interrogate Sor. Loca. She begs forgiveness.
* Don Fer is getting really frustrated with MP in the barn. She continues to scold him for his anger and violence. She blurts out that she and her family want nothing to do with him - he is in shock as she tells him he killed Don Alej's wife Regina in an indian attack raid.
* MA talks with Diego about their upcoming marriage and living as a married couple. She wants to get along and live happily ever after together - he says that ain't gonna happen, babe, because I still love Esmeralda. MA tells him he can't have her, she's married to Montero. Diego finishes his argument and leaves.
* MP continues to tell Don Fer the true story about how he killed Regina during his violent raid on the indians, and right in front of Diego. Don Fer is in disbelief and tries to deny it - MP screams that it's all true! You killed her! You killed Diego's mother and Don Alej's wife! You killed her!
* Zorro rides through the town streets, passed waving crowds of onlookers. Garcia calls his merry band of soldiers to attention when he spots Zorro riding towards them. The soldiers aim - fire multiple shots - and miss entirely. Zorro stops in front of Garcia - Garcia says he can't enter the building - Zorro says that's fine, just make sure to give the Governor this note - Zorro tosses the note to Garcia and rides away. Garcia (the ever curious cat) opens it up and reads it aloud to the soldiers - one pipes up that the message is private and volunteers to take it to the Governor.
* Zorro and his horse are on the hillside wondering if Don Fer got the note.
* Esmeralda is at the gypsy camp, talking with Jordi, his wife and Renzo about where SK is now, and why she's in prison. Esmeralda wants to rescue her - Jordi and his wife warn her about how tight security Montero has placed around SK's cell. Esmeralda ain't scared - she's married to the captain himself. Jordi continues to warn her of the dangers. Esmeralda is determined to go. Renzo agrees to help her.
* Don Fer and MP continue their discussion about his indian attack and Regina's death. He can't believe it's true. She says believe it because it is true. Don Fer calls the guard to take MP to the de la Vega hacienda. Before she leaves, MP reminds Don Fer to think about Don Alej and Diego.
* Garcia and the soldiers stop Esmeralda in the hallway near the prison. She is there to see her husband - they won't let her pass - she claims she got all dressed up in her finest gown and boots and hat to see him and they have to let her do it. Garcia and the soldiers leave. Esmeralda starts to wander through the hallway and search the cells.
* Diego finds MP on the rural walking trail. He is curious about why she's there - she tells him to leave Don Fer alone, she needs to return to the convent - Diego still wants to know what happened with Don Fer.
* Esmeralda comes to a prison cell door - she looks inside and sees something of interest - and as she is looking inside, a hand grabs her shoulder from behind and surprises her. (AY! CARAY!)

Duelo de Pasiones, Thursday March 29 - Don't talk about Alina or Angel will die!
She warned Alina that Thelma was jealous of her, hated her, and was capable of killing her. Then she showed Alina her burned arm and said Thelma had done it because Vera said Emilio had always loved Alina. She called Thelma a demon.
Elsewhere: Carmen asked Santos who had hit him. Santos said "nobody" and distracted Carmen by announcing that he and Rosita were planning to get married, and that Rosita was expecting his child. Carmen was pleased.
Susi told the unconscious Angel that she didn't want to lose him. Alina arrived and Susi asked her to let Angel hear her voice because it would help him. She told Alina that Angel loved her. Alina said her heart belonged to someone else.
Susi revealed how much she liked Angel, saying he had "the most beautiful smile I've seen in my life." Alina said, "You are in love, Susi."
Thelma stormed into the room and told Alina to leave, "Angel is nothing to you." Alina said, "He is my friend." Thelma asked if Alina was hoping Angel would add her to his will.
Alina said she didn't have to explain herself to Thelma. Thelma said, "I am the lady of this house!" but Alina said Thelma's position and jewels meant nothing to her, what mattered to her was "human quality, and you have nothing of that." Alina left and Thelma ordered Susi to leave, too.
Emilio chewed out Maximo for not helping the storm victims. I think he implied that Maximo wanted to keep the money for himself. Maximo blustered and said, "Your father put me in charge of this hacienda because he trusted me!" Emilio said, "If my father believed in you, I'm not going to doubt you, Uncle." He ordered Maximo to make a donation. Emilio said, "As you wish, patron."
After Emilio left the room, Maximo threw down his hat and yelled that he did all the work and had as much right to the money as Emilio did.
Luba had another flashback about Alvaro's dying mother giving Luba a box for Alvaro. Luba said to herself, "I must give the coffer to the patron," but that she was afraid Alvaro would kill her. "Better that I guard this terrible secret."
She caught Gaspar trying to sneak out of the cave and they had their usual argument about whether or not Gaspar should forget Thelma.
Soledad visited Elias. He told her that he missed Blanca every minute of the day, that life hadn't been fair to him and Soledad because he had lost his wife and Soledad didn't have the love she deserved. Soledad asked him not to talk about that, saying her heart was withered and empty.
Singing Aunt Rebeca visited Maximo's office, supposedly to console him about Angel, and invited herself to go to Edelmira's club with him.
Emilio went to see Angel. Pretending to be sympathetic, Thelma told Emilio to prepare himself for the worst, saying they had to go to Puebla and arrange Angel's burial. "You know he's going to die very soon." Emilio said, "It seems you've thought of everything."
Thelma claimed she was only thinking of Emilio, then tried to convince him that Angel's illness was all Alina's fault. Angel, although still apparently unconscious, overheard this and thought, "What are you saying, Thelma? This isn't true."
Unaware that Angel could hear her, Thelma continued telling Emilio that Alina had deliberately provoked his fight with Angel. Angel thought, "No, Emilio, defend Alina! She's not to blame for anything!"
Emilio dismissed what Thelma was saying, took Angel's hand, and asked Angel to forgive him for their argument. Angel clasped his hand and thought, "Thank you for not condemning Flor. I go in peace."
His hand dropped and Emilio ran from the room yelling for the doctor. Thelma thought, "He is dead. He finally died."
Dr. Vasquez took one look at Angel and announced that he was in a coma. Emilio, Thelma, and Orlando agreed that overhearing Emilio and Thelma's conversation about Alina had sent Angel into the coma.
The doctor said all they could do now was wait for Angel's death "or a miracle." Nurse Susi began crying and left the room.
Meanwhile, at the hospital in Mexico City, Malena asked Ricardo/Dr. Love if Mariana would be OK after her suicide attempt. He said it was too soon to know.
At Edelmira's tavern: Alvaro/Don Loco tried to kiss a prostitute and, predictably, hallucinated that she was Soledad. (Hasn't this happened 900 times before? Why does he bother?) After coming to his senses (as much as he ever does) and realizing it wasn't Soledad, he gave her some money and told her to leave him alone.
Elias took Soledad in a carriage to see Alina outside La Rinconada. Alina told Soledad that Emilio had changed a lot and was "more sensitive" now. (Notice that she didn't say "more intelligent.")
Soledad falsely told Alina that Don Loco had permitted this visit with Alina. She urged Alina not to try to see her, "Better I come to see you."
At Edelmira's club: Aunt Rebeca "sang," ie screeched, for the customers. To get rid of her, Granillo applauded and told her how fantastic she was. (I hope Aunt Rebeca marries Maximo and yodels in his ears for the rest of his days; Evil Mr. Mustache Twirler deserves it. Maybe Alvaro could lock them into a barn together.)
Somehow Alvaro and Maximo survived Singing Aunt Rebeca's performance. Alvaro told Maximo he intended to start a new life without Soledad.
At Elias's office: Elias tried to convince Soledad to finally escape from Don Loco. Soledad, as usual, refused, saying if she did Alvaro would kill Alina.
Elias asked why Soledad hadn't told Alina the truth about how Alvaro was treating her. Soledad said, "I don't want to worry her. She's suffered enough."
Elias called Soledad incredible and marvellous. He put his hands on her arms and asked, "When am I going to see you again?" Soledad squirmed away and said nervously, "Soon, soon," then left.
Back at La Rinconada, Dr. Vasquez and Emilio conversed in the hallway outside Angel's room. The doctor said only God could save Angel now, he probably wouldn't survive the night. After he left, Emilio crouched against the wall, crying.
Meanwhile, in the chapel, Nurse Susi told Alina that Angel was dying. Angel promised to pray for him all night. Susi went back to Angel. Alina prayed for Angel to live and Emilio to be given "a little faith."
While talking to Orlando, Thelma let it slip that she was responsible for someone else's death but refused to answer his questions about it. Orlando wondered what other death she had on her conscience, then smirked to himself.
In Mexico City: Another doctor told Doctor Love that Mariana would be a quadriplegic for the rest of her life. Later Dr. Love cried to Malena that it hurt his soul to see Mariana like that and not be able to help her.
At Don Loco's hacienda: Maximo told Alvaro that all women were damn traitors. "Soledad is still laughing at you in her fantasies, in her dreams." Alvaro agreed, "You are right," and wondered how he could stop Soledad from continuing to betray him.
At La Rinconada: While Orlando was having a drink with Dr. Vasquez, Luba sneaked into the house.
As Soledad was returning to her nice cozy barn, Maximo and Singing Aunt Rebeca drove by in a coach. Soledad hid behind a tree. Maximo stopped and peered in her direction, saying he thought he saw something, then said he didn't see well at night. Rebeca said, "Ah, but you are very handsome!" and they drove on.
Meanwhile, Alvaro mused that he was dying inside and it was all Soledad's fault, bla bla, boo hoo.
Back at La Rinconada, Emilio cried and told Thelma that Angel was all he had. Thelma told him to ask God to end it. Emilio remembered Alina telling him to pray for a miracle, and the doctor also telling him to pray. He said, "I have to do it."
On his way to the chapel, he encountered Orlando, who asked where he was going and offered to accompany him. Emilio said he needed to be alone. Orlando followed him to the chapel anyway, then watched and gloated as Emilio prayed.
Alina also saw Emilio praying. She thanked God.
Emilio cried and told God he would give up the thing most important to him, "I will renounce Alina so Angel can marry her. I promise you I will forget her forever."

La Fea Más Bella #242 3/29/07 In Which Marcia Fizzles But Fern Does Not!
On her way out, Carloca congratulates Lety. Seeing Lety with Aldo at her side, Fern brusquely takes Carloca's arm (uh oh, so much for that common sense we were hoping for).
Later, Alicia and Marcia also stop by to congratulate Lety. Lety is surprised to see Marcia, and says she didn’t know Marcia was back. Marcia responds that she was not in the spotlight because someone had taken her place (I think she was referring to her place at Fern’s table, but she probably really meant her place in Fern’s life). This prompts all the by-standers to uncomfortably give their goodbyes and make a quick exit, leaving only Alicia and Marcia with Lety. Alicia brown-noses, complimenting Lety on everything from her outfit to the cuartel’s performance. Alicia exits and Marcia tells Lety she should enjoy her victory, but then adds that it’s not entirely a victory. Lety asks Marcia what she is talking about. Marcia points out that tonight, they have both lost ‘something’ and then walks with a big nasty pout on her unblinking face.
In his dressing room, Luigi thinks about Lety’s offer to send him on that all-expenses-paid vacation. After some rehearsing, he calls Ruly and apologizes for being such a colossal idiot. He invites Ruly on the trip and then holds his breath as he waits for a response.
Lety and Caro have a talk. Lety says she’s confused about Fern, because he’s changed. Caro thinks he’s changed for the better. Lety agrees, and says that he talked to her like a friend and was very supportive, but on the other hand, it really bothers her to see him with Carloca. Caro points out that it didn’t bother Lety when he was with Marcia, and asks why Carloca is any different. Lety explains that it was obvious that he didn’t love Marcia, but she’s not sure how he feels about Carloca. Caro correctly guesses that deep down, Lety is still holding on to the hope that Fern will love her.
Ariel comes in next and takes his turn chastising Lety. He thinks she made a fool of herself tonight. He asks if she thinks the show was a successful or ridiculous. She happily responds that it was ridiculous but it came across as a success. He notes that in the circus, people applaud the clowns. Caro and Lety respond to this by applauding Ariel. Lety then stops applauding as she recalls that in the circus, people only applaud for the good clowns, not the bad ones. Ariel is not dispelled, and he tells Lety that she looked ridiculous dancing with her friends. Lety -- still happy -- says she can’t help it, the rhythm moves her. Ariel looks disgusted and says that it’s obvious that being ugly no longer bothers her. Lety laughs heartily as she tells him that it never has. He finally accepts that his insultos are not producing the desired result and leaves.
In her hotel lobby, Carloca tells Fern she feels sorry for Marcia. Fern says he is so tired of fighting with her. That part of his life needs to end, even though he knows he has lost any chance he had with Lety. Carloca supports his decision to give up on both Marcia and Lety, and immediately nominates herself to replace them. Fern tells her that she’s great and all… Carloca interrupts, “but?” THANK GOODNESS, Fern does have a “but.” He lets her down gently, saying that in another time and place in his life, she might have had a ghost of chance. Carloca guesses that his decision is because of Lety. Yes, he agrees, because of Lety and also because of Conceptos. He needs to get the company back in shape so he can return it to his father in the same condition he gave it to Fern. He gives Carloca a soft kiss on the cheek, which Carloca savors. She is still swooning as Fern walks away (YES!!).
Ironically, next we have a commercial for a skin care line featuring Paulina Rubio, that ghastly oversexed blonde who Lety parodied on her last appearance on the Christina talk show. She did an excellent job, by the way; she was able to dumb down her own singing skills to really capture Pau’s mediocre singing abilities and inflated “look at me!” personality. This is not the Christina appearance, just a short snippet of Angelica’s spot-on Paulina impression: Ange's impression of Pau … Yes, the real Pau is really this bad... Okay, sorry, back to the show…
Alicia accompanies Marcia home. Alicia the Optimist doesn’t think Fern will come over as he promised Marcia. She thinks that he will probably spend all night with Carloca. Marcia sternly says that she’s done with his stupid games. Alicia doesn’t believe her. Marcia wisely points out that with friends with Alicia, who needs enemigas?
At Lety’s house, the cuartel cheers for Lety. Aldo makes a speech praising Lety, then Julieta, Robopop, the cuartel, and even Tomas, who everyone agrees contributed nothing to the success of the expo. Lety points out that Tomas did a great job watching the dancers walk back and forth. Julieta comments that Robopop also spent a lot of time admiring the dancers.
Fern enters Marcia’s place apprehensively. There is a half-packed suitcase on the couch. Marcia tells him to take his crap and leave.
After teasing his guests with a tiny mini-bar size bottle, Robopop pulls out big bottle of sidra (cider; not sure if there’s actually any alcohol content in it) which he has been saving for many years. He gives Aldo the honor of opening it. Everyone ducks for cover in anticipation of the cork popping, but in the end it just kind of fizzled out (the bottle, not the party).
Speaking (that is, writing) of fizzling, Marcia asks Fern if he came to break up with her so he can go back to Carloca’s hotel. Fern says he wants to have a heart-to-heart with Marcia. Marcia tells him there’s nothing to talk about if he’s just going to break up with her anyway. Then, as whatever was left of her dignity fizzles out, she tells him she won’t allow it, because she’s already fought many years for him, even though he has betrayed her time and again.
At Lety’s place, everyone is toasting to their success with sidra served in paper cups. Martha apparently gets carried away by all the toasting and suddenly toasts to Aldo’s being enamorado (in love). Lety is impactada at Martha’s unending lack of discretion, but Julieta is visibly happy. The cuartel wants him to tell them who he is in love with. Robopop also wants to know to; surely it’s the person Aldo dedicated that first book to.
Marcia tells Fern that she forgave him all his infidelities, the cancellation of their wedding, even his love for Lety, so what did she do to deserve this? What did she do wrong? Fern tenderly lays it out on the table for her: the constant nagging, the harassment, his having to report on his every action, even on his dreams, to her. Marcia cries and reasons that it’s only because she loves him so much (can you hear the fizzling?). He tears up too as he recalls the constant arguing. She grovels that arguing was not her intent. He says that despite all the arguing, they never seriously discussed these issues. Marcia insists that even with all his faults, she still loves him (fizzle fizzle). Fern apologizes and says that he just doesn’t love her back anymore. Marcia surmises that it ended when he fell in love with Lety. He says that Lety is not really the problem here, but he admits that his cowardly measures led to much pain for Marcia, himself, and Lety. This angers Marcia. She utters, “Yeah, poor Lety!” through clenched teeth as she gets up and stomps off to her bedroom, slamming the door behind her.
Julieta still wants to know who Aldo is in love with. Aldo agrees he will tell them about the woman he loves. Lety’s eye twitches. He tells them that the most marvelous woman he ever met is very tender, sweet, gracious, and gave meaning -- flavor! -- to his life. Irma says it’s a true miracle when one finds true love. Julieta tells Aldo that he is cheating, because he will not disclose the lucky woman’s name. Aldo promises that he will tell them soon. Everyone gets up for another toast and, amidst the hoopla, Lety tugs at Aldo’s arm and leads him upstairs. Yikes! Has she forgotten that Robopop is right there?!!
Marcia is sprawled on her bed crying when Fern comes in. He says that at a certain point he realized that their relationship had evolved into an obligation. Marcia asks if he has forgotten how happy they once were. Fern says he has not, but those days are over. They both recall the days when they had so much in common, when they were friends and confidants. Marcia asks then why does he want to end it. Fern says there have been too many mistakes, it’s irreparable. Marcia warns that he will not change, he will leave Carloca the same as he left her. She adds that she will always wait for him (fizz…). Fern tells her (kindly) fat chance, because he doesn’t think he’ll ever stop loving Lety.
Lety leads Aldo into her room with his eyes closed. He opens his eyes and sees the mural on her wall. She says she wants to show him that he also added flavor to her life. Aldo gets teary eyed and promises that one day they will kiss again like that day at the beach. Lety asks how he knew she was thinking of the same moment. He proclaims his love yet again and leaves. Lety thought bubbles “Aldo, I adore you but I can’t love you.”
Fern tells Marcia he knows he doesn’t have a chance with Lety after all he has done, but he is determined to stop hurting the people he loves. Marcia, still groveling, points out that she will be hurt if he leaves. He thinks there will be nothing but more pain if he stays. She says she knows he’ll be back.
Lety is in bed when Julieta comes in doing a quasi-whistle singing thing. She asks for the gossip about Aldo. Lety admits that, yes, Aldo loves her. Julieta pumps her fists in victory, but becomes concerned when she sees Lety’s face. She deduces that Lety doesn’t love him back. Lety is despondent: she loves someone who used her, then found someone who loves her, only to have to turn him down.
Marcia, apparently not sufficiently despondent, tells Fern that she deserves him and she will get him back (is there no end to this fizzling?!). Fern continues his attempts to reason with her. He explains that relationships can not be based on guilt. He apologizes, softly kisses her hand, and walks out -- in slow motion, natch! (Yey! Are you as proud of him as I am?)
Marcia squints but does not blink. She swears to herself that he’ll be back, she just knows it!
Will Fernando really be able to break away from Marcia?
Will Marcia boil Fernando’s pet, uh... bonsai? Will Carloca beat her to it?
If Lety turns down Aldo, will she have to face the wrath of … her mom?

Angélica Rivera (Gaviota) before surgery
Acorralada #53. Wed 3/28/07. Diana has definitely gone to the dark side . . .
Caramelo is crying, because she now realizes her husband is a cheating horndog. Lala comes in and Caramelo unloads. She says she saw him with Paola earlier and she knew something was not right. Lala tries to counsel patience. All men are like this. But his true love is you. I told him to leave off with her, but I guess maybe he hasn’t. But give it time. Don’t worry.
Meanwhile, Pancho is sneaking into the shower with Paola.
Gaviota still confronting O.
Caramelo recovers and goes to work. She is wearing the jaunty red sailor hat. Pop is complaining how F/G went over to the mansion.
He calls Diana and tells her. Diana gleefully relays this news to Gaby and Granny M, but they are not so ecstatic. Gaby is worried that Larry and Max are there.
Meanwhile, O and F/G break into a big bitch-slap fest, which becomes a head-butting, neck-choking extravaganza. Now they should call the WWF! It’s a wonder Octave doesn’t spill out of that halter top. Actually, this is a serious fight. I wonder if they used stunt players. They are rolling around on the floor, hitting heads, choking, etc.
At the same time, Max is still knocking on the bedroom door, but Marfil won’t open it. She is trying to get Andres to leave. She finally tells him that she is the real Marfil. He actually believes this immediately and decides he’ll work with her. I’m not your enemy, he says. He leaves, and she lets Max in. He asks what she was doing so as not to answer the door. She has no answer.
The fight escalates, and Granny DS comes in! She starts screaming—come quickly. Now everyone in the house comes running: Max, Larry and Yolanda (who looked like they were having too cozy a chat), and even Paola. (She has to leave off her make-out session with Pancho.) Marfil is wearing a short nightie and robe. Paola is wearing a towel. The family members pull apart the two.
F/G reveals that Octavia has killed Dr. Reynosa. She then leaves. There are many impactada looks.
Granny DS suddenly has a big revelation: She remembers that Horacio loved Fedora, and that Horacio really killed Fedora’s husband. Fedora went to prison wrongly. She cries. My son was a murderer.
Everyone looks at O, who says, don’t give me those accusatory looks.
Diana and Gaby are talking to Paco. They are all worried about F/G’s nutty mission to the mansion.
Granny DS is still crying about her son, and Larry takes her to her room. Paola says she is ashamed to have O as a mother. Marfil wants to comfort Max, but he is having none of it. For once I give credit to this actress, as she made it seems she was acting the Marfil role rather than the Debora role. One by one they all leave the room, as if it’s the end of Act I in a community theater production of You Can’t Take it With You.
Paola goes back to her room, where Pancholon is waiting. She cries that her mother is a swindler, and nothing is really theirs, and her mother is a murderer too.
Bruno is talking to Marfil and calls her Debora, but Marfil answers in a way that makes Bruno realize she may be Real Marfil. Oops! Bruno asks her if she is really Marfil, but Marfil denies it. Of course I’m Debora, she says, and slips into the usual Deborah screech for good measure.
Back in Granny DS’s room, the dolls are strewn everywhere. It is dimly lit. Granny and Larry are huddled on the floor. Granny continues to cry about her perfidious son. Larry actually sheds a tear. It is almost touching.
Pancho continues comforting Paola, but Max knocks at the door. She hurries Pancho out the window without his clothes. Don’t worry, we’ll be married in two days, she says.
Max now comes in. He says he doesn’t know how all this happened. They are a dysfunctional family, says Paola. He tells her not to cry, and he’ll get them out of this mess.
Back at the bar, Gaviota has returned. She is still insisting that she will make Octave confess. Diana thinks she will not be able to.
Bruno is still trying to figure out if Marfil is Marfil. She leaves, and Marfil says to herself that she doesn’t trust that traitorous servant. Bruno goes in the hall and wonders Is it live or is it Memorex?
Octave is pondering her options with Big Doormat. She concludes that she need not worry, because there are only suspicions that can’t be proven.
Pancho sneaks in back home, where Lala is sleeping on the couch and wakes up. He is wearing a towel. She calls him by his real name—Francisco. Now you know he's in big trouble. She is scolding him for his cheating ways. Just like his father, she says. I had a feeling that was the case with the way she keeps advising Caramelo. She says she has warned him for months to stay away from Paola, and she pulls his ear really hard! Only a mother could do that.
Next day already, and we are at the hospital. Guess who is the newest nurse on the floor. If you guessed Diana, you would be right. She’s back to wearing that pink nurse’s uniform. Did we see any lead-up to this? Of course not! She is met by Dr. Evil, who is as surprised as we are. She flirts with him. He tries to lure her into the consulting room. He’s crazy to kiss her! After he turns away, she is revealing her real motive: she will make him pay by discrediting him!
Doc tells Andres about the newest staffer, and Andres immediately calls Max to tell him that Diana’s working at the hospital. We are treated to one of the usual gratuitous shots of Max swimming laps in the pool, exiting the pool in his skimpy bathing suit, and flexing his huge hairless pecs before answering the phone at poolside. Max and Larry must undergo some serious body waxing for their appearances in swimsuits.
Diana now sneaks into the storage room and, wearing gloves, steals a bunch of medications. Then she goes into Doc Evil’s office and puts them in the drawer. An eye for an eye, she says. Here’s where the story really goes wrong. I think this is so out of character for her; they just can’t make me suspend disbelief.
Pilar and Kiki meet on the beach. They make an alliance to separate Larry and Gaby so they could have them for each other.
Max shows up at the hospital and confronts Diana. He is wearing a new ugly sweater. It looks like those cotton waffle-weave long john shirts—but it is pale pink. And as usual it is too tight. Andres stares.
Back in Doc Evil’s office we see that Camila has arrived. I guess she has nothing to do all day but to hang out there. Doc tells her that he just learned Diana is back. He slips into one of his sex-addled reveries about how much he wants her in bed.
Andres says he just saw Max in the hall. Camila wants to call Marfil to tell her that Max is there. Andres calls. Love this round-robin phone calling!
One more round. Bruno tells "Debora" to go tell Diana’s paralyzed husband that his wife is talking to Max.
Diana tells the hospital administrator that she learned that Doc Evil has secreted stolen dangerous drugs in his office. He is a little dubious, but she says she would be incapable of saying such things about such a fine professional man as Dr. Evil. (Uh, does no one remember that just a few months ago Doc Evil accused her of attempted murder?) anyway, he should check it out himself.
Paco tells Gaviota to get a new lawyer, but she says she doesn’t have to because Dr. R had sent the evidence to the court already, and the process will continue to its conclusion.
Camila talks about getting back with Max. Doc Evil goes to take a shower. Camila tells Andre she saw him kissing “Max’s wife” at the party. He wants her to keep quiet.
Gaby now has gone to the beach in a cute bathing suit. She sees Pilar, who wants her to leave. Gaby tells her that the beach is a “free country.” And it’s my day off from the supermarket. Kiki invited me. Now Larry comes up. Pilar says Gaby should stay away from her boyfriend. Gaby says “your boyfriend is my husband!” Larry takes Gaby aside and asks her to move back into the mansion. She smiles.
Back at the hospital, the administrator comes to Doc Evil’s office with a security guard. He is going to search for drugs. Doc Evil puts up his arms as if it were a holdup. They find the drugs! Cut to Diana’s face in the background.

La Fea Más Bella #241 3/28/07 El Sabor de la Fiasco, Luigi no es nino bueno, & Cuartel of Red to the Rescue!!
Ok, they set us up at the end of last night’s show such that something horribly shocking was imminent and well it isn’t. Yet. First some Lui self-gratification for making 12 commercials in one month. His babies. We are going to learn about Mexico, our races, our food, thanks to the book by our friend Aldo. Then some food. Cue clouds and corn and chilis and tortillas, pozole, birds, pomegrante, salsa, mole and the tradicional looking ladies who make them all. Delicioso. I had Enchiladas Verde and Carne Asada for lunch and the commercial still made me hungry for Mole!! And cue the twelve giant bowls of moles!!! I'm salivating....
Irma contemplates Aldo’s love for Lety. Luigi comes in and she confirms it’s not a joke. He tells her how much he’s in pain. Irma checks to see if the girls are ready, but Luigi tells them to collect their things and get out. They are impactadas and start cackling like hens according to him. He shuts them up and tells them to get out. Irma says she’ll talk to him. She says this is the great inaugural number and it’s so important. You can’t do this to Lety! He says, oh yes I can. Call the cuartel. What? Go get them!!!
Sorry, we interrupt this recap, to advise you GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLL !!!!!
We now enter the parallel universe where Carloca’s alter ego Ma ma ma ma ma riana Seoane sings her famous song Mermelada with Carloca in the audience. I think the tongue in cheek Sere Una Nina Buena would have been better suited to her anti-character. It’s so odd how they do this. First with Solo para Mujeres and Sergio Mayer and now her. Oh well, it’s telenovela land, and if it sells, it doesn’t matter if it seems real or even physically possible. Well, you all mentioned this performance was pending, so I figured we’d see it at some point. She’s just too popular, plus I’m sure they paid a lot for her performance not to show it. Since you can’t listen here, really, I’ll give you the words and this lovely picture. ( I told you her other song would have fit the plot better!!!) :)
El chico que me quiera,
Que me quiera,
Que me quiera como soy,
Solo quiero que me quiera,
O o o o o
Mermelada, mermelada
Mermelada, la vaina
Que me mueva, que me mueva
Que me mueva el corazon
Solo pido que me quiera
Ma, ma, ma, ma, ma
Mañanita, mañanita, mañanita
Mira que yo soy
Asi, cuidame
Mira que yo soy
Asi mimame
Mira que yo soy
Asi de verdad
Mira que me voy
Si me sueltas papa
El chico que me quiera,
Que me quiera,
Que me quiera como soy,
Solo quiero que me quiera,
O o o o o
Mermelada, mermelada
Mermelada, el chico que me quiera,
Que me quiera,
Que me quiera como soy
Solo pido que me tenga
En mi, mi, mi, mi
Mi manita, mi manita
Mi manita
Mira que yo soy
Asi, cuidame
Mira que yo soy
Asi mimame
Mira que yo soy
Asi de verdad
Mira que me voy
Si me sueltas papa
( el chico que te quiera que? )
Que sea una bomba
( el chico que te quiera que? )
Que me cuide
( el chico que te quiera que? )
Que me mime
( el chico que te quiera que? )
Que me quiera
( mermelada )
El chico que me quiera
Que me quiera,
Que me quiera como soy,
Solo quiero que me quiera,
O o o o o
Mermelada, mermelada
Mermelada, la vaina
Que me mueva, que me mueva
Que me mueva el corazon
Solo pido que me quiera
Ma, ma, ma, ma, ma
Ma, ma, ma, ma, ma
Mañanita
( el chico que te quiera que? )
Que me bese y que me cuide
Que me mime y que me quiera
( el chico que te quiera que? )
Que me bese
She essentially wants someone who will care for her the way she is, like Marmalade, who will kiss her and spoil her and such. Didn't make much sense to me either, no worries.
The cuartel stumble in wondering what the heck. Luigi tells them he got rid of the dancers and he asks the cuartel to do their number and they are impactadas. PM actually crosses her eyes! At first they are scared senseless and complain to him that there’s no way. Later Irma explains to them why he’s acting that way, because of Aldo being in love with Lety, etc. More impactadas, but they are happy for her because he’s worth it, and they wonder why she hasn’t screamed it to all four corners of the globe, but Irma tells them that’s because Lety’s still in love with Fer and admonishes them against gossiping about what she just told them.
Y GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLL!
During the Carloca Clone performance Fern gyrates out of control like he’s having a seizure. Carloca and Omar have to restrain him. Omar does a little of his own lusting. F & C have a few discussions, she thinks they’d be a great singing duo, he smiles goofily. (Did she and Jaime ever sing together? Probably…) She asks if he liked the singer. He says he doesn’t like women only Lety. Well, she is a woman, but in a different way.
Luigi comes back to bribe the cuartel to do the number and not to leave Lety alone in this.
Anais gets up and interrupts the announcer frantically that the dancers aren’t ready and then that here comes Luigi again. Fer & Co. get nervous. OK he finally drops the bomb. He loves his work more than anything, that it enriches him, but it’s out of his control and he wants to dedicate this to the Presidenta, the sacrilege, but these are his last commercials for Conceptos. Los Mendioroel are muy impactados, as are Aldo and Lety. They wonder what the heck is going on. For a moment it looks like the expo will be a fracasso. Lety decides she will go back and find out.
Update: Tied at the half Mexico 1/ Ecuador 1
The cuartel is still debating to dance or not to dance. They explain to Lety. Why is Juana still in a maid outfit, PM in a casi swimsuit, and Sara in her bathrobe? It will be interesting to see her dance in that….
Enter the woman scorned to ream it to Lety yet again. OK, sorry but this guy is being paid very well to do a job. His sabotage is the furthest thing from professionalism, but something tells me he’s going to hang around Conceptos a bit longer still. I’m hoping he has to grovel first though. He tells Lety that people like them will never end up in the world of glamour etc. Even if she feels confident with Aldo on her arm, she will never belong. This p***ses off the cuartel, and that was all they needed to decide they won’t let him get the best of them. Lety starts her self-loathing and says that Luigi wants us to fail and that he won because they aren’t professional performers etc. Clearly they are not swayed. Aldo pops into the door but Lety doesn’t see him. Irma does, but he waves her off.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL ECUADOR!
Anais announces the great show of red. A sea of red feas takes the stage….same outfits, dyed in red with a few sequins thrown in. .
LA BANDA RECODO returns!!!! I got my wish!!!
Me antojo! Me antojo! La Comida Mexicana conquista a el corazon!
The cuartel begin singing about food and how a full belly is the best and they fancy the flavor of Mexican food. A diet doesn’t matter and that Mexican cuisine conquers the heart. I liked this. For those of you who thought these actresses were being wasted, well here is their spotlight. Afterwards everyone wants to congratulate Lety! Including Carloca who gives her a big hug, and Fer and Aldo fight over her. Fer bugs Aldo to let him congratulate her really quickly, so he rushes through his words and awkwardly moves away. Aldo gave her a big kiss and hug.
Success, the audience loved it, and Luigi sulks that he was foiled.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLASSOOOO MEXICOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! [Rafa Marques!!]
I’m tellin’ ya gals, the hottest guys on the planet play soccer………
OK, back to recappin’
The wrath of Aldo pounds hard. He goes in to talk to Luigi, and in a very smug way makes him feel guiltier than hell for doing what he did with this slightly holier than thou sentiment. I thought you were my friend and I had such respect for you and I’m deceived, and I can’t believe you sunk so low etc…..why did you do this? Lui reveals why and that he changed the address for the book delivery and that he can't believe Aldo would fall for the most frightening thing on the planet, and that he read the dedication and that his love for Aldo tastes like suffering. Aldo in disgust walks out after telling him to get rid of his prejudices one day and appreciate people for who they are.
Irma comes in and consoles Luigi sort of , by feeling sorry for his pitifulness. She wonders why he did this, and reminds him that it’s all his fault, after all, for trying to get back at Lety. He doesn’t know if he’s coming or going. He tells her he will miss her the most of all when he leaves and she wonders what she’ll do without him. He says that maybe she can visit her kids or rest or something, and that she’s always been like his mother, well his grandmother. OK, Luigi, quit while you’re ahead, or at least not that far behind.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL MEXICOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mex 3 Ecu 2
Ok it’s getting hard to focus on the recap……
NO WAY!!!! AND AGAIN!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLASSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MEEEEEXICCOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, you add it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mar tells Alicia now it's time she needs to confront Fer.
Carloca and Fer discuss how successful everything has been. Ari walks up chiding him and lusting after Carla. Just then, Ma ma ma ma ma rcia shows up to greet Fer. He kisses her on the cheek but is impactado. She tells him he wastes no time and goes to greet Bozo and Humb. She then tells Fer she knows he must have been so worried about her since he hasn’t been able to reach her in 20 days. Mariana/ er Carloca wants to be introduced. Harpy is cordial, holding back her rage. I guess no cat fight yet. She is polite and Carloca is actually being a pretty gracious person tonight. I wish I could be that happy, getting stood up by the guy I love, showing up to the function anyway, and then meeting his fiancée, at an event conjured by his true love and she’s still having a smashing time smiling the whole way. Cheery Carloca.
Carloca asks for a cab to go home and Mar volunteers that Fer take her. Fer is impactado. Fer begs Marcia to go somewhere in private to talk. He wants to know what she is trying to do. She gives him the same old Marcia again and he’s back to his same and they fight. Her complaining about him being with Carloca, in front of all the people who think Mar is his girlfriend and him saying he’s showing her a good time because she took care of him in NY and she’s important to the campaign. Mar wants to know what actually happened in NY; he says nothing. She asks if they are still together. He decides they better talk about it later at her apartment.
And it’s over. BRAVO MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lety & Luigi
Ok, you call me every monster creation in the book, you screwed me, screwed our company in front of all our clients, but now you should go on an all expenses paid vacation with your boyfriend courtesy of Conceptos with my authorization. What? Unbelievable. I really wanted groveling.
Luigi tells Lety she won. Lety says the commercials were great and Lety asks Luigi to stay with Conceptos. He mocks and says she should celebrate elsewhere. She wants to celebrate with him. She says he’s the star of Conceptos. He agrees, but that he’s dimmed. She knows he’s tired from his commercials marathon but he should go on a vacation if that what it takes. With his boyfriend. He says he doesn’t have one anymore. She says he needs to get him back. He says he’ll try but it’s going to cost him dearly. She continues that he’s incredibly talented and they make a great team and she knows they haven’t gotten along very well, but somewhere deep down in there she knows he has a little heart. He agrees, he has one even though it is wounded. He then makes a joke about a five star hotel and top restaurants. They congratulate each other, and cut.
Just an aside, I read an article today that essentially says that an employer might be liable for it's employees personal blogging when it comes to it's own product endorsement and related comments, saying that if an employee makes a representation there should be full disclosure of whom he or she works for to avoid potential consumer deception. Employers are advised it's best not to let employees comment about work related products or issues as policy. It's more complicated than I've explained, but something to contemplate, and ironic that it came up today.

Zorro Wednesday March 28, 2008: The one where Telemundo lied and we are treated to an Esme fashion show.
Diego is working on paperwork in his room when Bernardo comes in to tell him that the soldiers have been setting fire to many homes in the village. Diego asks if they are Montero’s men who are extracting revenge (the reason perhaps, because Diego/Zorro has been taking lessons from Robin Hood, taking the tax money from the collectors and giving it back to the poor). Bernie covers one eye to indicate they are Fernando’s soldiers. D-Well, well now this shows us what Fernando Sanchez is really like. Diego goes on to say that perhaps Zorro will need to teach FS a lesson. Bernie signals something that causes Diego to reflect on Esmeralda—oh, how he hurts for her, but he needs to remember that his principle goal is to fight injustice (his words, not mine). Diego gets up and opens the secret passage in his room that leads to the Bat Cave. We are treated to a montage of images of villages burning, people crying, and Diego transforming into Zorro by candle light in the cave (unfortunately we don't get to see him strip down to his skivies, he magically switches from his street clothes into the black get up).
Esme has been grounded by Montero. He’s apparently given orders again that she is not to leave the house. I wonder if she’s going to get her allowance this week, too, or is Monty like my parents and the grounding is always accompanied by the loss of allowance. She exchanges words with the soldier guarding her and he leaves her to stew. She says to herself that she needs to get out of there and find Diego because she wants to tell him off--- How dare he sleep w/ Mariangel and then not trust Esme.
Monty and Pizarro (I’d like to call them Mr. Burns and Smithers, but I think that might lead to some further confusion, but I stick by my theory---Smithers has a little crush on our weasely Mr. Burns, and all the evil he does is done to impress his would-be beau) are having a debriefing session. It appears that Piza told Monty that Miguel died as a result of his torturing. Monty isn’t upset that Miguel died, he’s just upset that he died without spilling the beans on the gypsies’ plans. Monty wants to know what those Gitanos are up to, and he knows they are up to something. Piza tells him that he sent the gypsies a warning in the form of Miguel’s head, so he thinks they won’t be a problem any more and that there is no way that they’ll come near the prison again. Monty tells Piza not to underestimate their enemies. The gypsies know about Sara Kali being held in the prison and they want to free her. Monty mumbles about how Sara Kali is causing nothing but trouble. She’s really complicated things for him (oh, poor Monty life is really tough), he’s got his wife’s mother locked in his prison (I bet there is many a man out there who would like that scenario). All of a sudden, Monty has a thought. You can almost see the light bulb switch on. He wonders if Esme knows that SK is alive and in the prison. Perhaps that is the reason why she agreed to stay with him. Monty doesn’t like the idea of that and says that she better not be using him.
We are treated to further scenes of mayhem around town. People are fighting and fires are ablaze everywhere. A woman and her child are crying and huddled in the middle of the melee. Through the smoke we see the arrival of Zorro, on his trusty steed, Tornado. Zorro gets right to business by socking it to the bad guys (how he can figure out who is who in this mess, I don’t know, it's not like they are color coded, everyone seems to be wearing similar outfits). In the midst of him cracking his whip and knocking heads together, Zorro has flashes of Esme. Everywhere he looks he sees her, and each time she is wearing a different outfit (this isn’t the time for an Esme fashion show!!). These visions take him out of his A-Game. He gets hit a few times and almost ends up getting shot. In the end, Zorro saves the day, errr…night. The people cheer and he rides away.
Commercial and Telemundo-Milwaukee advertises that Zorro can be seen cada noche, lunes á viernes, from 8 to 9---so not true!!!!
Monty arranges a nice dinner for Esme. He tells her that they have a lot to discuss. They sit down to dine and he launches into how he knows very little about her. He starts to fish for info on her mother, but Esme isn’t biting. Monty gets angry because things aren’t going his way (big baby). Sooner or later, he tells her, he’s going to find things out. He has a little hissy fit and throws his glass across the room. Esme tells him that if he continues to act this way he won’t win any points in her book.
Padre Tomas goes to see Alejandro. He fills Al in on Maria Pia’s disappearance when she was out looking for Sister Suplicios. Al says there is no way that MP can be lost, she knows this area like the back of her hand. Al grows suspicious. He thinks that Fernando is up to no good and has something to do with all of this.
In the gypsy camp, Leisha (Miguel’s wife) turns to Renzo for comfort. She tells him that she’s afraid for Miguel. She knows that Monty and Pizarro must be doing terrible things to him (oh, I don’t think she can imagine the truth). Across camp, a man approaches Jonas and tells him that a delivery has just been made. He’s cautious about giving it to Jonas so Azucena can’t see what is in the bag he is carrying. Jonas takes a peek in the bag and discovers the gruesome sight, Miguel’s head. Jonas is sad, shocked and angry all at the same time (what great acting, conveying these three emotions at the same time). This spurs on Jonas’s anger. He says they have to free Sara Kali, there is no way they will allow Monty and his men to hurt another one of the gypsy people. He tells Azu that Monty will pay.
Esme, alone in her room, has a Diego flashback to when he promised not to see her again. She mutters to no one but herself that they can fight for their love. She begs Diego to come to her, as Zorro he can find a way. Come to her, she says, so she can tell him how much she loves him and that she’s carrying their child. She caresses her very flat stomach for emphasis.
Olmos gives Fernando some figures, he’s calculated what will be Mariangel’s dowry. Fernando shares the sum with MA and she is quite pleased with the amount. There is a loud raucous at the door, and in bursts Al followed by Padre Tomas. Al is angry and demands that Fernando tell him the location of Maria Pia. He knows that FS has her and demands that FS release her now. He places his hand on the hilt of his sword to add some weight to his words.
Tobias and Catarina are awakened by a knock on their door. Tobi opens it to find a finely dressed man, who says he is Master Alberdo. This is the man from Spain to whom Tobi wrote a letter asking for help in finding the true identity of Zorro.
Esme, sleeping in her bed, is awakened by a noise. She grabs a candle and heads downstairs. She calls out asking if it is Monty. She enters the parlor and finds Zorro standing in the middle of the room. Z-Diego promised never to see you again, but Zorro did not make the same promise. The “Z” slashes across the screen and the theme song replays…..END OF EPISODE

Vera and Alina, walking down the hacienda stairs hear a loud ruckus. Its Alvaro! Vera tells Alina to hide as Alvaro makes his way past Jaime to Vera. Where is Alina he demands to know.
Alina bumps into Thelma on her way to hide. Thelma hisses some of her usual words as she blames Alina for Angels health problems. Alina and Thelma tell each other that they are despicable. After Alina walks off Thelma counts down her list of victims. Jose is at the lead since he was easy to kill, Angel is coming along nicely and Gaspar will be next on the list.
Alvaro announces that he came to see the muchacha. Jaime tells him that they have orders to keep her there. Vera explains that Alina is being kept locked up. Alvaro is happy to hear that Alina is being treated so unwell, that she is being kept under control. He tells Vera to thank Thelma. He is very satisfied with what he has seen.
Gaspar bugs mama Luba asking what is in the box? Luba tells him to bug off its none of his beeswax. Gaspar teases her a little and then skips off. Luba turns to the altar for the Virgencita. She asks her to send her a sign. All of a sudden Luba changes her tune saying you sent me a sign! My son is in danger! They are going to kill my Gaspar!
Adela knocks at the barn door of Soledad’s new luxury retreat. Adela remains outside saying that she can’t enter. Soledad complains of being cold. Boo Hoo. Why are you in there lady? Soledad begs Adela to find out something about Alina, she needs to know how she is. Adela tells her she will go find out.
Orlando and Thelma talk over what will happen when Angel dies. Thelma tells him they will blame his death on Flor.
The Tall Doctor Vasquez tells Emilio that he would be irresponsible if he gave Emilio hope for Angels condition. Angels situation is very grave. He scolds Emilio a little about why he hasn’t left for Puebla where Angel could have been receiving treatments?! The doctor then reluctantly tells Emilio he will use what equipment they have to help Angel.
Emilio kneels down to talk with Angel. Angel goes on about how he has felt like he has been at deaths door. He begs Emilio to let him see Alina. He wants to talk with her, to see her. He tells Emilio to take care of her, to help her. He wants Emilio to promise him.
Alina prays to the Virgencita in the chapel. She wants the Virgin to save Angel, to restore his health. She tells the Virgencita that she loves him. He has earned her heart.
Elias and his coworkers talk about their construction project. Alvaro rides up on his horse behind them. He overhears Elias break from his work conversation and start to ramble on about his love for Soledad. How now he has a chance to have her. The other engineer guy questions Elias saying Soledad is Alvaro’s wife. Elias tells him he doesn’t care. Alvaro has to die. Alvaro’s eyes widen as he hears their conversation. He rides off. The camera pans back to Elias and his co-worker. They never broke from their conversation about the construction. Alvaro imagined it all.
Alina remembers telling Angel that she could never feel for him what she feels for his brother.
Angel continues begging Emilio to look after Alina. He pauses his begging to try and cough. His cough comes out very weak and then he passes out. Emilio freaks screaming What’s wrong! Doctor!
The Tall Dr. Vasquez tells Emilio that Angel is so weak that the smallest bit of exertion can tire him. Emilio tells the doctor a sob story of how his whole life he thought he was better than Angel. Now he cant do anything to save him! The Doctor tells Emilio that only God can help Angel now.
Vera tells Alina what she said to Alvaro. She tells her how she told him that Alina was being treated worse here than she was at the cave. She tells her how Alvaro seemed happy with this news. Alina changes the subject to Angel, how he is doing, and how all they can do to help is to pray. Vera tells Alina that Emilio is very sad. Alina wants to go see him.
The Singing Aunt whom some like to call Rebecca floats into Thelma’s bedroom with the news that Angel has gotten worse. Thelma declares that Angel should die. The aunt is shocked that Thelma would say this in front of the Lieutenant. Orlando tells the aunt not to worry, he knows Thelma meant to say what she said with bad intentions. Thelma leaves to go check on how quickly Angel is dying as Orlando heads out to see how Emilio faring. The Singing Aunt exclaims Dios Mio! I think Thelma has something to do with this!
Alvaro tells Sergio that he is going to go to Mexico City to see his sister for her wedding. They discuss how its best to tell Marianna that Soledad and Alina are in Europe.
Soledad tries to lift her escape hatch but she drops it. Its makes a loud thud.
Alvaro hears the noise and asks Sergio if he heard it too. The men go to the barn to see who made the noise. Soledad glares at Alvaro as he peers into her suite. Alvaro closes back the door and locks it. He tells Sergio that Everything is in order in there. Sergio advises Don Loco that it must have been a large tree that fell in the forest. Sergio tells his boss that the past is best forgotten. Alvaro agrees its best to have your past locked away.
Mariana tells Malena that she feels so much pain as she falls onto her daughters bed and hugs one of her stuffed animals. Malena tries to comfort her by telling her that she can marry the creepy doctor and have lots of kids with him. Mariana flips out screaming No NO NO! She doesn’t want to get married and she doesn’t want to have kids! She wants to be left alone with her pain.
Emilio tells his army buddies that Angels prognosis does not look well. The buddies fill Emilio in on what they have been doing, making damns, trying to get Don Max to pay his part (a donation) for the construction. It appears that Emilio’s cousin has refused to pay. Emilio is impactado.
Suzy tells Angel that he is strong enough to get better. They talk a little and then Suzy excuses herself to go get something. Thelma comes in just after Suzy leaves. She stands over Angel and calls him pathetic. She tells him that people feel sorry for him, No one loves him, and that its best that he die. Angel stirs and opens his eyes. Thelma leaves the room in a hurry as the camera goes to Angel who is lying in bed with his eyes wide open.
Emilio tells his army buddies that he will clear this point up with Max. Emilio leaves the room and runs into Alina in the hall. They make googly eyes at each other.
Soledad has escaped from her dungeon to walk through the forest with Elias. She wants him to help her see her daughter. He says he will help her. He asks if she knows that he will always be there for her. She says she knows and thanks him, calling him copadre to sidestep this conversaton with him. He calls her comadre back with a laugh like so this is how you want to play it.
Luba walks through the forest carrying two roosters in each hand. She tells herself that she doesnt want to perform bad work anymore. She needs Macairos help. After what happened with Caciques son she doesn’t want to use her herbs on her son. She releases the roosters as she barrels down the path.
Emilio and Alina walk chatting with each other. Emilio thinks to himself how beautiful Alina is. If she only knew Angel was dying.
Thelma tells Orlando that Angel overheard her wishing him dead. She decides that since Angel heard her he really has to die now. Orlando claims that if Angel dies it would help his plans too. He wants Emilio to at last get what he deserves. Orlando tells Thelma all the ways that Emilio has hurt him and why he wishes for Emilio to be hurt. Thelma warns him that she wont allow anyone, not Flor nor Orlando, to take Emilio away from her.
Luba talks with a new hippy herb guy. His name is Macairo and he used to be her student. She tells him she wants Thelma to leave the Sierra. He warns her that she is playing with fire. She tells him that she isn’t, she is trying to save her son. Macairo tells her that he needs something (a personal article) from Thelma. Luba tells him she knows, she’s the one who taught him.
Emilio asks Alina if she is in love with Angel. This whole scene is soooo stupid. Emilio just learned from Rosita that Alina loves him, she has been making out with him every other day and now just because she is worried about Angel he thinks she is in love with Angel! Ahhhh gosh this is killing me to write!
Thelma and Orlando agree something has to happen to help them and their evil plans.
Alina snaps at Emilio that Angel is dying! Gosh for Petes sake leave her alone! Emilio tries the “You are crying for him so you must love him” line of un-rational thinking.
Gaspar is happy that he doesn’t hurt anymore. He beats his chest tarzan style (not really but almost) and comments excitedly on how he is going to go look for that bad woman. Luba walks into the cave and ruins his plans. Gaspar does a few stretches to show her how great he feels as Luba smiles on. She goes to cook him something. She worries to herself about how she will get something from Thelma for Macairo.
Orlando questions Thelma’s idea of blaming Flor for Angels death. Thelma thinks that Emilio will soon hate and blame Flor for Angels death if they just keep insisting it was Flors fault. Look Ma she did it type of brilliant thinking.
Alina tells Emilio she only loves Angel as a friend and besides she cant tell him who she really loves. Gosh this stupid conversation is killing me!
Soledad asks Elias if he is going to see her daughter. He tells her no, she will go. He will take her in the carriage at night so no one will see her. Soledad worries about Alvaro finding out, blah blah blah.
Alvaro tells Adela that he will leave in the morning to go see his sister. He tries to get Adela to tell him what she talks about with Soledad. He learns nothing so he lashes out telling Adela that he cant wait to tell his sister what a tramp Soledad is. The whole world will know what type of trash she is! Yea! My sister will hate her as much as I do.
Alina tells Emilio that God can save his brother. She asks him to turn to God and try a little humility. Man that is one good suggestion. Humility for Emilio.
Thelma and Orlando are walking downstairs of the hacienda when Donky/Tonky good little guard doggy comes running through the house. He passes by Thelma and she freaks out. She starts screaming for Jaime to get the dog out of the house, then she upgrades her demands to Kill the dog! She claims it tried to bite her, it must have rabies, and Kill It! Kill It! Jaime is impactado. He argues its Flors dog. Thelma doesn’t care and continues to scream her death order. Orlando helps by handing his pistol to Jaime. Thelma threatens that if Jaime doesn’t kill the dog she will get Castulo to do it, then she will fire Jaime. Jaime swallows hard as he stands there impactado.
Soledad looks out her window worrying about her abuser.
Thelma screams at Jaime a little more. What are you waiting for she demands! Orlando tells him that there is always a first time.... Jaime’s manhood must be threatened because he agrees to shoot the dog, sweet little Donky/Tonky.
Thelma and Orlando break into laughter after Jaime goes outside to the gallows. They head up stairs so they can have a view of the proceedings.
Alina prays some more as Emilio watches over her. He tells her he doesn’t believe in miracles and or God. She tells him that this is the time for him to get close to God.
Vera catches Jaime outside with a shotgun in one hand and Donky tied to a rope in his other hand. She begs him not to shoot Flors dog. He tells her he has to do it. Thelma ordered him to do it and she will throw them out if he doesn’t. Vera tells him that Thelma is just trying to hurt Flor. Where is Flor!!!
Alvaro goes to visit Soledad so he can tell her about his travel itinerary. He talks to her back which is covered with blankets as she is lying down on her hay bale bed. He tells her that no one will know where she is. He figures that she isn’t talking back to him because she is pretending to be dead. The dead don’t talk. Ha Ha. He looks down at her figure and reaches out to pull the blankets down. (Its not clear if she is there or not.) Sergio comes busting into the barn yelling that he needs the boss to come. Alvaro leaves the barn without pulling the covers down.
Alina thinks to herself how she would like to tell Emilio that she loves him. Emilio thinks to himself if only Alina would forgive him….
Vera tells Jaime not to shoot. He has the dog tied up and the shotgun is ready. Vera tells Jaime that Thelma is in her room watching and laughing about this. The scene changes to show Thelma and Orlando standing in her bedroom watching and laughing, ready to watch the execution. Flash back to the death scene. Jaime looks like he can’t think on his own as he quivers with indecision on what to do. Should I shoot the dog, or should I not?
Alina runs up in the nick of time. She hugs Tonky/Donky and sets him free. Jaime explains that Thelma ordered him to shoot the dog. Emilio tells him that it was a stupid order. This dog doesn’t have rabies! Emilio runs off to find out what’s going on with his lovely wife.
Thelma talks her way out of trouble telling Emilio that the dog tried to bite her. Their argument is useless; Emilio does nothing to Thelma for trying to murder the dog.
Malena and the creepy doctor talk about how Mariana hasn’t left the child’s bedroom all day. They have a brainstorm at the same moment that maybe something bad has happened to Mariana. They bust into the room and find her passed out on the bed with pill bottles everywhere.
Orlando tells Emilio that his discussions with his brother upset Angel. He tells Emilio that love is to blame for Angels health. If Angel wasn’t in love with Flor then he wouldn’t be fighting with Emilio all the time. Orlando asks Emilio if he would be prepared to forget his love for Alina to make Angel better.

Destilando Amor - March 28 - it's a long downhill slide from here, folks.
[Also I gotta say, these actors with agave machetes are not believable. Are you guys remembering to hold them with the sharp side down? You look like you're dabbing at those plants, not hacking at them. Well, maybe the props guy said "Be careful, don't wreck them, they have to last all week, agaves don't grow on trees you know."]
We open with Gaviota singing a good song and Rod gazing at her with intimations of impending turgidity. "What I feel for Gaviota is LOVE!" he explains to himself. Heh heh. Where was he when he was 16 years old?
[I LIKE this galan! He's cute in that caveman way, he looks guapo on a horse, and he's the first good kisser since Colunga.]
James is very drunk and inveigles Roman into taking him off to a bigger town to see more pretty girls.
When the hypnotic spell of LOVE wears off a bit Rodrigo notices James is gone and asks Gav to go with him to search for James in all the other cantinas. When the expedition (unsuccessful) is over Rod takes Gav home, asks for a kiss and gets one. There is excellent music in the rhythm of a huapango and he tells her he loves her.
Her mother is cross. "A a boy from the Big House isn't going to be allowed to love a humble girl. You've never had a boyfriend before, you should listen to the voice of experience: 'Only in the telenovelas.' " [This refrain, which they've used several times already, is a bit too self-referential for me...]
Next morning James staggers in with Roman; he's still wearing the ridiculous argyle sweater vest. He tells Sofia he loves the dance, the tequila, the music ... she tells him to take a bath. Later he tells her he loves "the light, the colors, the traditions! Marry me! I'll buy a home here." "What about my career?" "You can study in Guadalajara." "I can't be entombed here, I'm going back to London, you'll have to decide."
Nice sister Daniela says: "Maybe this is his essence." "I lived with him a year, I know, it isn't. I want the old James back, not this absurd one." Meanwhile James is agog at the gorgeous scenery and so am I.
The family gossips about Rodrigo - why is he in such a good mood? James tells them: "because he's in love with a beautiful jimadora." The grandma is critically impactada and says that's a lousy joke. Sister Daniela (because she's the Good Sister) says: "I just want to see my brother happy."
Gav and her ma have gone off to the village market where Gav gets grabbed by a sort of sleazy magazine seller-photographer who burbles on about international models etc. I see a plot point in the making here.
We hear honking - it's Clark Kent - with his super vision he has spotted Gav among all these people and is honking! They go off together to enjoy his last day. They smooch in the cantina, he gives her his huge Rolex. They smooch more. He tells her she's the first girl he's loved, and he'll be back from London in a year to marry her. "The 21st of March, don't forget, we'll go to the nearest church and get hitched."
James returns to the Big House and tells Sofia: "I love you, but I can't leave here just yet, I have to stay a while." She emotes briefly and dumps him.
Rod wheedles Gav (OK she didn't need much wheedling) to watch the sunset with him from the agave field on the hill. "It's the happiest day of my life." He says: "You set my blood on fire." Heh.
Night fell during the commercials and so did Gaviota. There, amid the agaves and the super-scratchy stubble ... "Now I'm totally yours."
Grandma, with her Phyllis Diller-type plastic surgery, monologues to her recently deceased husband's photo: "You always wanted to keep the family together but your crappy will is gonna sow discord between Aaron and Rodrigo." James enters, thanks her for her hospitality, says Sofia dumped him and he's decided to move to the pueblo. (I don't know if this is a pueblo named Pueblo or just a pueblo because the closed captions are all capital letters.)
Rod tells James he's gotten engaged to the lovely jimadora! He must have told him other stuff too because James, who is happy for him, responds: "Ah, I'm glad you're finally a complete man." "Don't tell the family, I don't want things to be difficult for her while I'm away."
On his last morning in town, Rod visits the new organic agave fields ("They're so modern, the tequila they make will be a sensation!" says the dad. "Unless they get torched by the villains," says this jaded recapper).
Gav and her mom are cleaning up, ready to move on. The ma goes to do errands. Gaviota prays to the Virgin, "please let Rod come to me cause I can't go to the Big House..."
There's a knock on the door! Guess who! They embrace and say goodbye and smooch and etc. They won't be able to write each other because she has no address and things have to be hidden from people in the big house. She says she has his watch to remember him by and will never take it off; she bounces off and digs up a cassette of "Carmela the Argentine" to give him in return.
Then she asks (probably for the 20th time): "I'm the only woman in your life? You've never been with another?" "You're my first, and you'll also be the last - in fact, I can't love any other woman." "Why not?" "Dunno, but it doesn't matter now. Anyway, remember - the 21st of March - I'll be back for you." "I'll be waiting!"
The ma, who watched all this, prophesizes: "You'll suffer - just like in the telenovelas."
[We already know from the advances that, due to this one roll in the agave fields, Gav is going to get pregnant. So she - and Rod - get pregnant their first time out, at the same time they lose their virginity. I predict Rod is not going to have sex with any other woman ever, he'll be the Hippolita of the show.
And we also know that after these couple episodes of happiness Rodrigo and Gaviota are going to suffer like crazy for months. so I hope you got an eyeful of those happy smooches.]

Acorralada #52 Tuesday 3/27/07 Murder, she said .
I've tried to cover all the action!
Diana answers the phone. Max is calling. He has to talk to her. As usual, Diego is listening in. There’s a rehash of the question of the baby’s name. She says she can’t talk. Diego asks who it was, and she tells him it was Lala. Close up of Diego’s newest painting. It looks like one of those psychology tests for an optical illusion—do you see a vase, or do you see two faces in profile? But the faces are two Neanderthal men.
Diego immediately calls his mother at the mansion. Yes, of course, she answers. He finds out that she did not just call. He hangs up and backhands his orange juice off the table in anger.
Rene and Peyote are at the mansion pool. He doesn’t want her marrying Pancho, that jewelry fencer. She tells him to lighten up—he should multiply times zero. She now seems to use that expression all the time. The meaning is still unclear. She changes the subject and they start high-fiving about the exciting “super cool” (in English) night out they are going to have. Rene quickly forgets what he was saying about Pancholon. Exit Peyote to change.
Enter Yolanda, the Bomboncito. Rene switches to Eddie Haskell mode and tells her he was trying to convince Paola to return to college. Ever wonder why Rene doesn’t have to work? Is he a trust funder?
Cut to Paola’s room. The phone rings, and she answers, because it’s Pancho, calling for her. He says he tried her cell but she didn’t answer. Anyway, she says they are all ready to get married in two days. Pancho, now the voice of reason, says, don’t you think it’s too fast. No, she says—we are in love and we are ready. Okay, we will get married in two days, he agrees.
Octave and Yolanda now have a very important conversation. Octave says she offered Dr. R a million bucks to stop the case against her, but he refused, so she killed him. Yolanda is impactada. There’s a review of their criminal history—Octave points out that Yolanda gave false evidence about whether Fedora killed her own husband. At this point, Yolanda doesn’t know that Octave killed Octave’s own husband.
Yolanda says Octave shouldn’t have killed the lawyer. Now Octave reveals it’s not the first time she killed. She reveals that she killed Horacio (her own husband) because he was in her way, in the way of her love for Paco. Once she had the fortune, he was unnecessary.
Paco and Gaviota are talking. She gets a phone call telling her about Dr. R.
Back to Octave’s confession. There is something here about how after all these years, Paco has suddenly resurfaced. I’m not sure I understand this part correctly. Anyway, Octave threatens her sister, that if Yolanda doesn’t keep her mouth shut, she’ll kill her too. She will eliminate all who are in her way.
F/G tells Paco it had to be Octavia. He doesn’t want her to take matters into her own hands.
Max and Emilio are talking about the baby. Max says he knows the baby is his because she named it Max.
Larry goes to Casa Soriano to look for Gaby. Only Diego is there, and he won’t give Larry the address of the supermarket with Gaby works. Diego says Diana doesn’t know it either. Lunkhead wants to leave a message for Gaby. Exit Lunkhead. Another closeup of the Neanderthal men as Diana comes out.
Max and Emilio are still discussing the parentage of the putative heir. Max says he’s sure it’s his because why did she call the baby Max? She wasnts to punish me. He puts on his best lemon sucking face. (Thank you to the commentator who pointed this out. I had been striving for weeks to figure out what was with him, and this expresses it perfectly.)
Larry is back at the pool. He is talking with Rene and Paola about how great Gaby looked last night. There is a long exchange where it appears that Larry says he’s been an idiot for letting Gaby go, and now Kiki wants to steal Gaby.
Andres comes in on Marfil in the bedroom. She doesn’t know who he is, but he doesn’t know that. He grabs her.
Cut to scene of Miss Kitty, I mean Deborah, tied to the bed, Isabel removes the gag. Bad move. Debora screeches louder than we have ever heard her. My sister has gone crazy. Let me go. Isabel tells her that she is in the same room her sister was in. Do you want to go back to the mansion and take back her personality again? Deborah realizes that they will do away with her, but Isabel offers to help her if she pays her more than she is getting now. Deborah doesn’t know how she will get the money. Then your luck ran out. Debora screams at the top of her lungs, let me go, you buzzard!
Back to the Neanderthal men–come to think of it, it’s a good self-portrait of Diego . . .. Diego is staring at Diana, who is sewing. She asks if he has finished his painting. He says he doesn’t feel like painting. He says he’d rather look at her. She says she always likes a compliment. He asks her for a kiss. She gives him a kiss on the forehand and talks about giving one good morning and one for good night. He says, no, he means a real kiss on the mouth, not like friends. She looks at him with vague disgust. Kiss me like a woman kisses a man. No, she says. Oh, he says, you’re refusing because you love someone else. He wheels away in disgust.
Back at the mansion., Andres is grabbing Marfil with his hand over mouth. Marfil exercises her brilliant powers of deductive reasoning and thought bubbles, Who is this guy? He evidently knows m sister, and he has me confused with her. She breaks away and asks how he got in there. Did Bruno let him in? Bruno? Are you crazy? Bruno hates me. So who is in he in relation to Debora. He is calling me by her name. He wants to make love. She gives him a wild-eyed stare. She tells him Max might come in. He says he doesn’t care. She now realizes he is the husband of her twin sister!
Max now calls again, and Diana picks up the phone. He says he is coming over, and she tells him she is crazy, because Diego is here, and her son. He says he will take the baby for blood tests. Frantic, she says she will come to his office in a half hour. Oops—Diego was listening on the extension.
Yolanda is crying to herself that the world of the Irascibles is falling in. We can’t wash the blood from our hands. Larry comes in. She says she needs to be alone to think. Larry wonders what thinking is.
Yolanda tells him that his mother has done something terrible, and she will spend all her days in prison. But she stops him from going to his mother.
Andre is still talking to his supposed wife. She thought bubbles that he knows all about Debora, and she plays along. Says she doesn’t want to do anything while Max is around. He points at her and says don’t cheat on me and leaves. She then says, how could I have known my idiot sister was married? How can I get rid of this guy?
Diego is asking Diana where she is going. She tells him she is going to buy stockings. She really should come up with a better excuse.
Pancho is fantasizing about his upcoming bigamous marriage. But here comes Caramelo with a cake she baked. She says she is celebrating because she is so glad he will be working with her papa. The phone rings, and it’s Diego complaining about Max. Caramelo doesn’t want her hubby to fight with Max. They all take off for the factory.
Pilar is rehashing the party at the pool. She was jealous of Gaby. But they read a gossip article that says Larry is going to Europe for three months with Pilar.
Diana is talking to Max in his office. She tells him that he very wrong if he thinks he can take the baby. Cut to the elevator and the reception area, where Pancho is wheeling in Diego followed by Caramelo. They demand to know where Max’s office is.
Diana continues denying it’s Max’s baby. Well, why did you call him Maximiliano?
F/G is telling Granny M about the death of Dr. Reynosa. Granny wants her to stop pushing Diana and Gaby into rancor and hate. No luck there.
Back to the genealogy lesson. Making like John Lovitz, Diana says that the father of her son is Diego. Yeah. She named him Max for her grandmother. Yeah. Granny’s husband was named Maximiliano. Yeah. She tries to leave, and he grabs her, saying he doesn’t believe it. Just then, of course, Diego wheels in.
Caramelo and Pancho are back at reception. He wants to go with Diego, but she doesn’t want them to fall to blows. Leave your brother to solve his own problems, she says. He says she is blind if she doesn’t see Diego’s problems. What about her own. She conveniently goes to get water, because of course, the elevator opens and who should come out but Paola. She kisses him. Fiera, what are you doing here? he asks. Silly, this is my family’s factory. He says to himself if Caramelo and Paola see each other it will be WW III. He takes her into the elevator. Inside the elevator, they are making out.
Diego wants to know what Diana is doing there. Max says he wanted her to come, because she wanted to know why her baby has his name. I suppose it is mine. Diana says, no it isn’t. I already told you about my grandmother. Diego tells her to stop giving explanations. Let’s go.
Cut to reception. The elevator opens and Pancho and Paola are making out and his shirt is off. The receptionist stands up and her jaw drops. He hurriedly goes out and puts on the shirt, just in time for Caramelo’s return. She asks what Paola is doing. Paola asks what she is doing there? . Here comes Caramelo. She asks what Paola is doing. Paola asks the same. Paola suggests it will be a “show match” (in English.) I think she is likening this experience to a match of the WWF. Of course, crisis is averted, because Caramelo says she came with Diego and doesn’t realize anything about the relationship. Caramelo throws the water. Diego comes out, and Paola gives him a patronizing hello. Hi, Diego, my piano teacher. You look mah-velous. Caramelo urges her to stop making fun of Diego. The receptionist and Pancho are restraining Caramelo. Don’t butt in. She says. Caramelo says Paola is a shameless slippery disgraces. Paola calls her a poor MDH. The receptionist asks Caramelo to moderate her vocablulary. Why should I, she asks. Because she’s the boss’s daughter. The four manage to get in the elevator without Paola figuring out that Caramelo is Pancho’s wife.
Emilio and Max come in. Paola asks her brother for money, because she doesn’t have a cent.
Back at the bar, Paco is asking why F/G hasn’t changed for her act. I am not singing to night. I am going to the mansion to get her to confess.
Diego tells Diana that she shouldn’t have gone to see Max. She says she had to give him a lie. He says that if she hadn’t given the baby that name, none of this would be necessary. lie. Well, if you hadn’t given the baby that name, this wouldn’t have been necessary. She actually apologizes.
Paco is trying to stop Gaviota from taking matters into her own hands.
Cut to Doc Evil’s apartment. It is a fun evening with the three musketeeras (Pilar, Silvia and Camila) and those handsome men about town: Doc Evil, Andres, and Rene. Silvia is decked out in her afro wig with a pink and purple tank top and pink and purple printed tights and brown boots. We don’t know why she is bald. She is also wearing a giant medallion on a ribbon–given how she’s dressed, perhaps she snagged a gold medal for the 100-meter freestyle. Pilar is saying she won’t let Gaby have Larry. They discuss how she changed her look, and was disguised. But like Cinderella, she is still a servant and the spell was broken. Camila wants to steal Max from Marfil. Ignacio says that she should wait a short while. They are in crisis, and soon she will be able to get him back. (I guess he’s saying that because he’s figuring he will have his Diana.)
Now they all laugh at Camila–Rene says that Wonder Woman is bald. They all remind her that she never told them she was bald, and she was the main attraction of the night (of the party). Even Camila sticks up for her, but Ignacio says that this is a democracy, and anyone can say whatever they want. They all laugh some more. She leaves the room. Rene begins to spin an odd fantasy that they all imagine: Camila and Pilar are dressed as policewomen in short skirts. Silvia is in the Wonder Woman costume. They are leading the three men to a prison cell. The three men are wearing those prison uniforms with the cartoony black and white stripes. Suddenly, from behind bars, Rene yanks off her wig, and she is a bald Wonder Woman. They all laugh some more.
Scene of Diana and Gaby reading the paper about Larry going to Europe. Gaby is sad. She is now wearing her contact lenses, though. Diana tells her not to worry, it’s just gossip, and anyway, they won’t let him divorce her.
Fedora goes to the mansion and forces her way in. Andres is in the bedroom trying to do it with Marfil. Max knocks on the door and interrupts.
F/G finds O and accuses her of murder. We end with dueling closeups of the two.
