Dinero #135- 6/17/10: Jorge Doesn’t Listen to Dead People and Marian Knows the Power of the Tanga
Tonight: The small half of the Brothers Grimm argues with his papa Don Gaston about possibly giving Rafa a loan. BG doesn’t like the idea at all, and thinks his bigger half will feel even more strongly about it. Don G’s also not jumping to part with his money. He knows Rafa is good for it, but he would also require another serious commitment (we know he means Vicky).
Back at the Fiesta de los Meurtos (aka Hernan’s B-day Bash at the Old Folks’ Home), Rosario is the belle of the ball. This wouldn’t require much more than having a full set of teeth, but Rosario’s also got a nice set of legs (and boobs) and is a good 10-20 years younger than most of the other guests. One of them (Antonio) appreciates her assets so much that he wants her to do a little turn for him. She politely refuses, but they reminisce about old times partying at the Hacienda Alejandra. Ah, the parties Jorge and his esposa used to throw! Quintana doesn’t remember them. Well, that’s because he wasn’t invited. Why? Because Jorge knew what a womanizer he was and kept him away from his beloved womenfolk (wife and sis).
Quintana decides to get Rosario away from this talk of his womanizing days and from the lecherous glances of his amigos, and takes her to the dance floor. Rosario wants to go home, but Quintana wants an answer to his pending question first.
While Rosario thinks over her answer, Jorge is working himself up into a state of worry about her whereabouts. He’s ready to call the cops, but accidentally calls the firemen (bomberos). Before he manages to actually call the police, Asucena fesses up and tells him Rosario went to Hernan’s party. “But he’s dead.” Jorge is slow to catch on that Hernan is still alive and having birthdays, but he’s very quick to realize that Rosario must be with Quintana. He sends Asucena away and then decides to go rescue his baby sis from the clutches of that scoundrel. Jorge to the rescue!
Jorge’s gearing up to bring some drama, but Marian’s trying to get Rafa to relax and unwind. She loves his white socks (calcetines). Her body language (leaning towards him and stroking his arm) says she loves more than just his socks. Rafa’s got too many things on his mind to notice. He calls Susana to get the day’s sales reports. In the background Susana can hear Marian’s happy clinking of tequila shot glasses and her seductive voice asking if he wants something else to drink. Susana hangs up quickly before she hears any more. Marian then asks Rafa if he was checking in with Alejandra. She is sure that what has him so preoccupied is Ale (she’s right), and says it’s obvious that there’s something between them (right again). She brings up Ale’s showing up at her Cuernavaca home as a sign that Ale was marking her territory- declaring that Rafa was HER man. “If only you could have seen the look of hate she gave me.” Rafa insists Ale doesn’t hate her, it’s just that a beautiful, successful woman like her brings out strong emotions in men and women alike. Marian asks him point blank if he and Ale had a romance. Rafa bobs and weaves and avoids answering the question. Marian doesn’t push the subject, and tells him he can count on her unconditionally. She then suddenly remembers that she has a party at her house that evening and insists that Rafa come. They’ll have a super time! (“Vamos a pasar bomba!”) Rafa can’t refuse.
Quintana reminds Rosario that, “I’m waiting for the most important answer of my life.” And she bobs and weaves and avoids answering like Rafa. But Quintana insists on an answer. He lays it on thick. “Quiero morir a tu lado.” (I want to die by your side.) Man, he’s good. If I didn’t know he’s a rat bastard, I would be so happy for Rosario right now. They dance cheek to cheek and Rosario gets tears in her eyes at Quintana’s beautiful words. She says Jorge would never accept it. “No me importa lo que piensa Jorge. Me importa lo que piensas tu.” (It’s not important to me what Jorge thinks. What’s matters to me is what YOU think.) Rosario can’t resist any longer. She looks up at him with love in her eyes and says, “Si Manrique. Quiero estar contigo, hasta los últimos de mis días.” (I want to be with you until my last days.) They seal it with a sweet kiss, while still dancing.
Suddenly they’re surrounded a half dozen proxy Jorges, warning him to take his grubby womanizing paws off innocent Rosario. They’re ready to deliver a geriatric beatdown, if necessary. Quintana calms them down by announcing that he and Rosario are now novios. This gets applause and calls for champagne.
Over at Siglo, the sales team is having a far less exciting time than the folks at the Fiesta de los Muertos. It’s the end of the day, things are winding down, and the team argues about who’s going to answer Ramirez’s incessantly ringing phone. Marino finally does, and is about to hang up on the person who seems to be having trouble pronouncing Ramirez when Ramirez comes running up. Turns out it’s Michel, a French book editor who’s interested in publishing all of Ramirez’s books (no, really). Ramirez is meeting him this evening, and he’s going to blow off seeing one of Marino’s women on his behalf. (Yay Ramirez! He took Ale’s advice.) The General and Rosaura take home the goody bag of fancy food her husband sent her (I am sure they will think of the poor as they eat their caviar). And Dandy and his nonicita try to get info out of the other about Rafa and Ale respectively, but they both keep their mouths shut. Let’s hope, not for long. Susana bids Ale goodnight and orders her to rest, not think, and get rid of the bad vibes.
Back at la fiesta, Jorge has somehow managed to find Hernan’s house! He arrives looking like a Mafioso- dark glasses; black trench coat; black leather gloves; grey fedora. I’m intimidated, and so is Quintana when Jorge lets loose a number of choice insults which all basically amount to calling him a womanizing scum bucket. “Our Alvarez del Castillo ancestors are rolling in their graves.” He takes off one of his gloves, slaps Quintana across the face with it, challenging (retando from the verb retar) him to a duel (duélo), tomorrow, in the local gym (if only he can remember where it is).
The rest of the party-goers object. How could Jorge challenge one of his friends? “He’s no friend of mine! He dared put his filthy hands on my sister’s immaculate body.” Rosario’s shocked and Quintana objects. “That’s not true!” “Are you saying her body’s not immaculate?” Quintana is speechless. Jorge turns to Rosario and her cleavage and barks, “Tú, tapate!” (Cover yourself up.)
Jorge’s not done (all his neurons are firing tonight). He starts bring up Quintana’s long history of being a heartless womanizer. “Remember when you seduced Cecelia?” “That was you who seduced Cecelia, Jorge. You dumped her when you met your wife” “Oh yeah, so it was.”
“Well, you seduced Mariela!” This causes one of the old guys, Ignacio, to have a near heart attack and to need an oxygen tank. “No, not YOUR Mariela, Ignacio.” Jorge then provides a long list of Quintana’s conquests, which he doesn’t deny. (Run Rosario!) He ends the conversation by slapping Quintana again with his glove, and tells him that they will meet tomorrow, face to face (frente a frente). Uh, wait. Quintana has an appointment with his proctologist tomorrow. No can do. Antonio then speaks up and says you can’t prepare for a duel in only one day. They need time to train, to build their muscles. Jorge agrees. Plus it will give him more time to find that darn gym. He slaps Quintana twice more (once on each cheek) and makes his exit dragging his baby sis. Hernan tries to get him to stay and relax awhile, but Jorge declares that he doesn’t listen to dead people. Lol!
Over at Marian’s Casa, she’s trying on some party dresses in her palacious walk-in closet and chatting about Rafa with her maid Lupita. “He’s the kind of man you don’t find anymore. He’s respectful; a gentleman. I’m going to do what it takes to conquer him and it will take more than a pretty dress to do so. Bring me my bikini!”
Ale has arrived home before Jorge and Rosario and is greeted by Marco. She informs him that she gave her resignation at Siglo. (Impactado Marco) “Qué!” Without a recommendation from Beltran, she won’t be able to get a job in car sales in Mexico. Maybe she should go back to Boston? (He REALLY wants her far away from Rafa.) Anyway, Marco assures her, he’ll always be there to take care of her and her family.
Thanks but no thanks. Ale’s got another plan. “I want to work for myself and my family. I’m going to dedicate myself to the administration of the hacienda.” (Impactado Marco) “Qué! You don’t know anything about administering a hacienda.” “No, but the hacienda’s my patrimonio (inheritance). And I have a Business Administration degree.” Marco accuses Ale of doubting his abilities. Ale tells him it’s not him she doubts, it’s that dastardly Chavez. Plus, Marco is a lawyer, not an administrator (silly rabbit).
He tries a new tactic. He tells Ale how dangerous it would be for her on the roads, driving back and forth to the hacienda everyday. “No Marco (silly rabbit). I would live at the hacienda. With my papa and tía.” (Impactado Marco) “Qué!!!!!”
Tomorrow: Marian and Rafa have a good time at her pool party. Rafa asks for a sign from God that he should set his sights on Marian as a way to forget Ale. He gets that sign in the form of Marian strutting her shapely stuff in a thong (tanga) bikini alongside the pool. Yowza! Marco remembers all his crazy times in the pool at the hacienda and all the damage he and Chavez have done to the place. Will he finally get busted?

El Clon Thursday June 17: Summary and Discussion
Luisa continues to suspect the worst of Albieri although he denies he has been unfaithful. He asks Daniel if he would like to go to Morocco with him and Daniel is ecstatic at the thought.
Miguel comes to Dora’s house to pick up Osvaldo’s clothes but she insists Osvaldo himself come by. When he does, they argue and he leaves without the clothes. Miguel refuses further involvement. He says:
La ropa sucia se lava en casa.
One washes dirty clothes at home./Don’t wash your dirty laundry in public.
Malicia visits Vicki and Cristina, and lets slip her novio is separated from his wife. So he was married when you met, asks Vicki. Malicia denies it, but it looks like Vicki has her number.
Escobarde and Malicia enter TORIM (the only restaurant in Miami) and there’s Andrea, on the phone, apparently having been called by Rosa who is looking for Nati. Andrea leaves and a few minutes later Julio and Clara enter. Escobarde is clearly annoyed to see them together and Malicia is clearly annoyed that he even cares.
And now – Said’s party!
Lucas and Jade spend the night smiling across the room at one another, despite Zoraida’s warning that Said is watching. Ali is also watching very closely.
Lucia and Latifa pick up their giggling, girlish friendship.
Amalia and Marisa compliment Rania about the food and say they’d get fat if they ate like this all the time. Rania says what Latifa said before: Our men like a woman to fill the bed:
A nuestros hombres les gusta que la mujer llene la cama.
Jadiya unleashes the Naz on the unsuspecting Enrique, the pretendiente she picked out for her in Fez.
Leo and Said discuss parenting, Leo complaining of the rebelliousness in his culture and Said boasting of the obedience of children in his.
Meanwhile, Samira is putting the lie to Said’s boast, telling Amalia how much she admires her and would like to follow her example.
Marisa takes Jade aside and warns her not to count on Lucas; he has a habit of changing his mind at the last minute. (And sadly, gentle reader, she is right!)
Marisa and Said vow that Lucas and Jade will never, ever be together.
The good news: No attempted murders tonight, since looks, indeed, cannot kill!
And after the party –
Rosa tells Leo, Marisa and Lucas that Nati has left to live with Alejandro. The three agree to stick together and do whatever they can, including withdrawing all financial support and school payments, from Nati in order to pressure her to leave Alej.
Andrea and Rosa are listening and they vow to do what they can to help the couple.
Mohamed and Latifa have their usual argument; Mohamed goes to the store where he sees Hilda, who is shopping for lentejuelas (sequins) to make an outfit for her winsome daughter. Amin fantasizes about said skank.
At the lab, Luisa tells her new friend Anita that she’s going to follow Albieri to find out the truth. And Escobarde challenges Julio, asking him how long he’s been seeing Clara.
Alejandro and Natalia show up at Gloria’s bar. Tomorrow we’ll find out if she can be as nasty as her consuegra (her son’s mother-in-law; no word for this relationship in English, I’m afraid), Marisa!
Ok, guys, now it’s your turn. Discuss!

Corazón Salvaje WED 2010-06-16: "OPERATION: Petticoat"
Episode 83
At Dr. Pablo's, Marlene and Rosenda bill and coo over pretty, hand-crocheted baby dresses Marlene brought for Rosenda. Rosenda is so pleased, she smiles and grasps Marlene's hands, asking why she's so good to her. Marlene says she's known Rosenda since she was very little and knows how much she's suffered. Rosenda marvels and asks how Marlene knew her.
Marlene knows her better than anyone, she says -- and her mother, as well. Her mother was a very humble girl; but also very ambitious, Marlene whispers. She dreamed of getting out of poverty so desperately that unfortunately she made a serious mistake. Rosenda glances down and admits thoughtfully, the same as she herself did.
Marlene rises and turns away, beginning to cry. Continuing, she says after this mistake, though, the mother committed another and then another. Returning to Rosenda, Marlene claims it's because of those mistakes that she's here with Rosenda in her mother's stead. Marlene will always be by Rosenda's side to care for her and protect her, she says -- and to prevent Rosenda making the same mistakes that she did.
Rosenda thanks her and touches Marlene's face, smiling the only open, unguarded smiles of her life so far. Rosenda thinks Marlene is so good; she wants her to know how grateful and appreciative she is. And she shyly admits that she's prayed often that when she finally meets her mother, she'll be as good as Marlene -- which delights Marlene. Mother and daughter embrace in tears and smiles.
At the casino, Remigio dressed as a woman has his head together with "Malu," explaining in hushed tones why they are still in port and that Regina was ill and needed the doctor. When Lulu doesn't understand his disguise, he tells her they're sure the guards will be out after them.
Remigio kisses her hands and earnestly admits he doesn't want to lie to her -- he doesn't like lies -- but it's probable the crew will be gone a long time. He promises he'll return as many times as possible, and perhaps one of those times, they can tie the knot -- and go away together?
To a wistful and melancholy theme, Lulu rises and turns away, worried. Remigio confuses this for indecision, wondering aloud if he's not really that important to her; but Lulu says she has a lot of things she needs to tell him before they go on with their relationship. Remigio rises and goes to her, insisting he already knows everything he needs to know about her -- that she's an innocent and pure girl.
And that that's why he loves her, he says. Lulu turns to look at him like her heart is breaking, and Remigio kisses her lingeringly, then tenderly and finally scorchingly. Enough to make Luis Gatica's wife jealous. And there is Phillip in the background, come upon them accidentally, getting a delighted eyeful and exclaiming to himself, Ooh, la la!
Back at Dr. Pablo's office, Clemencia enters to check on Rosenda's progress, and Pablo thinks now that her mother is taking such good care of her, Rosenda may even recover faster than they thought. This pleases Clemencia; but then Pablo drops the bomb that Regina was seriously ill shipboard, which sends Clemencia flying out the door on a determined mission to find a fisherman to take her to the Luzbel.
Next thing, Clemencia rushes into Leonarda's bed chamber, assuming she'll get permission to run to Regina. But Leonarda has definite other ideas. She's not going anywhere! When Clemencia asks if they're just going to abandon Regina to her fate, Leonarda hauls off and smacks Clemencia across the face. She's mad as hell that Clemencia knew all along about Aimee and Juan and didn't tell her!
Clemencia claims that Aimee knew and took all the risks, and there wasn't anything she could say. Leonarda replies that now it's Regina's turn to take the risks, and there's no going back. When Clemencia tries to defend Regina, Leonarda rages that the only victim here is her son! And she's not going to allow anybody to make him unhappy!
Clearly distressed, Leonarda strains to explain. Look, the only way she can forgive Aimee, she says, is if what happened was some craziness, some flirtation, some worthless fling! That the real guilty party was -- that, that bastard! Valiant Clemencia disagrees and sallies forth her view that Juan was glowing with happiness, thinking Aimee was faithful and loved him with all her heart!
Leonarda shouts that's enough! Here that bastard's feelings don't matter! She almost pleads, gesturing desperately, that in order to forgive Aimee, she must believe he was the only guilty one...because Aimee's expecting Renato's child. Clemencia is almost shocked into silence, and Leonarda continues: so the only one who matters in this house is Aimee. And the only guilty one is Juan del Diablo. Clemencia looks pensive and does as she's bid.
Meanwhile, down on the patio, Renato's still drinking when Aimee enters. He greets her sarcastically; he finally has the honor of the presence of his faithful wife, he says, lounging lethargically in his chair. He wonders facetiously whether she doesn't have some morning sickness or headache or something. Aimee got some of her spunk back and ventures a criticism.
She sees he's still drinking, she complains. She didn't marry the jerk he's turned into! she gestures pointedly. Unconcerned, Renato replies, well that makes two of us. We were both mistaken. Rising unsteadily, he looks at her abdomen and nastily remarks, but for this -- this child you're expecting, I'll have to put up with it the same as you.
Renato reaches out to touch Aimee's cheek in fake affection, and she smacks him away. He grabs up the cognac decanter and pours himself another glass sloppily from two feet away up in the air, dribbling it all over the floor. Yes, since we're both sick of each other, we'll just have to stomach it, Renato says.
At the beach shack, Jacinta and Santos bid farewell -- just before Jacinta rushes out after suddenly remembering she forgot the fugitive lady at the church. Presently, Remigio rushes in to grab Santos and take off again. He's sure the guard is after them, and they don't have time to change out of their female garb -- nor should they. They need the disguise, he says. They round up their purchases to abscond.
Jacinta can't find the fugitive lady at the church anywhere; and sure enough, María del Rosario has made it out to the town square and is ranting and raving to anyone who will listen about the letter she found, that her sister poisoned someone, and that she slept on her grave. Two ladies are about to take pity on the poor wretch and remove her when Jacinta runs in and gathers her up, claiming she's her aunt. Everybody there heard María del Rosario's ravings -- sellers, buyers and perhaps importantly, the soldiers, too.
Aboard the Luzbel, the crew all spy someone coming in a row boat, and Colibri discovers it's Remigio and Santos -- dressed in womens' clothes! They are all having a good hoot about that, guffawing and lampooning the hapless ladies coming on board. I had to laugh myself, they were all having such a party. And there they were, Remigio and Santos, doing the boyz a favor, bringing all that stuff. No gratitude!
Things get a little more serious when Juan learns Remigio and Santos needed a disguise to escape the guards, and that they're sure they're not far behind. It's all hands on deck and set sail. Meanwhile, below decks, Regina lurches with the boat and rushes to the porthole. She's delighted to notice that the ship is moving, and runs up on deck to find where they are going.
Regina and Juan are just about to get into another argument when he pulls out the things he had the boyz buy for her, and she grows strangely quiet. Regina glances at the boyz and Juan gratefully and takes her things below to leave Juan to his ship's business. Juan sullenly watches after her from the wheel.
At Raul's, Gabriel has to turn down Alberto on his job offer in Puebla. He has prior commitments to his boss, who has helped make him what he is. Gabriel and Jimena won't be leaving town with them. Alberto understands but doesn't know how he's going to give Mariela the news. She has such hopes. Later when he tells Mariela, she is distraught and won't accept it.
Mariela runs to find Jimena and talk her into it. Meanwhile, Gabriel finds Jimena first and gives her the news they are not going to Puebla. On top of that, Jimena is still worried Griselda will send the law after her; but Gabriel says they will go to Devil's Rock and be safe and happy. Jimena is very sad to have to hurt Mariela, though. And it would be like losing her mother again, she says.
In the finca office, Noel's working at the desk when Leonarda barges in to shock him with the news that they are going to be grandparents. Noel is completely delighted at the idea of having a grandchild; Leonarda less so when he concludes they will be grandparents together. Noel is excited that this child must bring Renato out of his funk now. He'll have to rise to the responsibility. Noel is distracted with happiness, thanking God for a grandchild and rushing from the room to find Renato.
In the captain's cabin, Regina emerges from her side of "It Happened One Night." She wonderingly unwraps all the packages of clothing Juan had the boyz buy for her. It's the finest his money could buy in the plaza, and mostly red and white, with even a bright string of beads.
Regina's face lights up with wonder and appreciation; and as she exchanges her nun's habit for the peasant dress, we slowly see Regina turn into another woman, one with an air of freshness and freedom. Colibri bursts into the cabin without knocking and gushes at how pretty Regina looks. She does look adorable, and even has a matching red headscarf, worn as Juan wears his.
When Regina tells Colibri rather churlishly that his captain shouldn't have bothered, he informs her that everyone was worried about her and wanted her to get well. They are all happy she's better. She has friends on the Luzbel, he says. In that case, Regina says, she won't scorn their efforts; and they sit on the bed together to enjoy some of the fruit they brought.
Meanwhile up on deck, Remigio is surprised to hear that Juan doesn't intend to go to Devil's Rock any more, on fear of being caught. Instead he orders Remigio to bring the ship about and to head north. The soldiers they're sure Renato and Rodrigo are sending won't find them heading north, Juan says. Remigio shouts the order. Make it so.
At Raul's Mariela convinces Jimena to talk to Gabriel again about staying with her. When Jimena finds him later, she's able to convince him to let her stay with Mariela until they find out something about Mariela's daughter. But he won't go to Puebla. Later on, Jimena and Mariela are happy with that much.
Dr. Pablo is checking Rosenda's blood pressure at his office, and it's looking good. She is so grateful that everyone has been so kind to her, she says. But at some point she has to leave, and she doesn't know what's going to happen with her life. Turns out, Pablo has been mulling this over and wants her to work in the office there with him, he says.
Rosenda is delighted, and when she points out she knows nuthin' 'bout birthin' no babies, Pablo's got that covered, too. He will be happy to teach her what she needs to know. Rosenda gushes and smiles adoringly at Pablo. She thanks him profusely and accepts.
Pablo returns her big smile and also asks that she call him by name, instead of doctor, since they'll be working together. Rosenda leans toward him a little and thanks him, repeating his name and looking him in the eyes: Pablo. A look passes between them, and then a little fluster on Pablo's part. Rosenda is fond of the doctor.
Today is the day of Raúl's little house party, and Mariela has bought a dress for Jimena. With a turn or two around the floor, the camera segues to Jimena in the dress and her erstwhile grandparents gushing how much she looks like Mariela at her age -- and how lovely she looks. Mariela is thrilled Jimena accepted the dress and looks adorable.
Presently, Fulgencio and Eloísa and Leonarda and Rodrigo arrive and are introduced to Alberto and his wife and daughter. Leonarda says she is already acquainted with Jimena and that she read her palm before. Eloísa repeats to Fulgencio that Jimena read in her palm that she should be careful where Fulgencio was concerned -- that appearances can be deceiving.
And she never understood what it meant, she says. Eloísa gets Jimena to read Fulgencio's palm, and it's just as disconcerting. Jimena says he's surrounded by treachery and that many weapons are involved. Many weapons. Rodrigo remarks he's a practical man and doesn't buy into such nonsense; but Leonarda does -- and Mariela, too. Fulgencio agrees with Rodrigo, although he looked a little taken aback at first blush.
Jimena responds that she never lies, and because of that the warnings should be heeded, to which Eloísa scoffs and asks who would betray Fulgencio? Who indeed. The door bell rings and it turns out to be the private investigator with news of Mariela's daughter: she is thought to be here in town. Mariela is ecstatic, having known instinctively that she was still alive.
Clemencia visits Rosenda at Dr. Pablo's while Marlene is there. Rosenda asks Clemencia how she knows her, and it catches Clemencia off guard. When all she can manage is that the two of them worked together in the same house, Rosenda logically observes then she must know who the father of her child is. That's twice in one day that Clemencia has been speechless.
Back at Raul's, the family is all excited about the private investigator's news. He is just leaving when Gabriel and Noel arrive, and in the shuffle near the door, Gabriel accidentally runs into Jimena. He takes one look at this lovely girl and gets a shock: it's Estrella. He calls her by name, wonderingly, and Jimena looks horrified. Jimena's grandmother tells him that it's Jimena, and finally -- finally -- Gabriel sees who she is.
But it's not good. He approaches Jimena, who looks like a deer in a headlight, and says, So, you are Estrella. You deceived me. All the time you were deceiving me, he bites out between gritted teeth. Jimena is shaking her head no. Gabriel continues -- No matter how much it made me suffer! He turns on his heel and exits, with Jimena calling after him. Everyone else in the room looks at Jimena quizzically.
And finally, aboard the Luzbel, it's a beautiful night when Regina pulls up on deck in her free and easy peasant clothes. To the music of the waves lapping the boat and the light of the moon, she's smiling and breathing the sea air when Juan appears in a flash from up in the rigging. The two of them stand alone there, together, gazing at the night and each other. Don't say anything, Juan says, smiling at her. It could ruin such a lovely moment, don't you think?

Dinero #134 6/16/10: Anyone want to buy some old trucks??
Zetina, our man with a million names, shows up just as the Hardy boys our finishing their little reunion. Rafa assures them that at some time they will have to figure out Marco’s weak point. Zetina, asks Rafa if he remembers him. Rafa says of course he does and gets the name wrong. Anyway Zetina wants to know if he has come up with any work for him. Not your lucky day Zetina. Rafa tells him to come back tomorrow there might be something. Poor Zetina says he hopes so because it isn’t cheap to come back and forth and he doesn’t have any money, as he stumbles off tripping over his briefcase.
Rafa enters Ale’s office. She tells him she has resigned. Rafa tries to tell her something and Ale interrupts and tells him he is in no condition to tell her what seems right or not. She tells him she is going to leave as soon as possible. Hopefully tomorrow. Rafa tells her he is not in any hurry to assume her position. She tells him she is in a hurry. She reminds him again about his monthly payments to her. She even warns him about trying to sell the house again. She also tells him she wants the rest of her money sooner than later. Rafa is surprised to hear this. She tells him she knows this wasn’t in his plans but she doesn’t want to have anything else to do with him and would like the money as soon as possible. Rafa tells her he wants nothing better than to pay her as soon as possible and has been trying to get a loan. She tells him good at least we are in agreement. Rafa tells her it is not because he wants to be done with her, but he is tired of dealing with her “novio.”.
Ale says “my fiancé? Did you forget that I ended it with him?” Rafa says whatever, that lawyer guy and tells her he will pay her as soon as he can. He leaves and asks Susana about his check. As she goes to get it for him, Pepito shows up and wants to know how it went with Ale. Rafa tells him she is leaving. Pepito tells him he knew this but Rafa says it still hurts. He tells him she doesn’t want to have anything to do with him and furthermore wants him to pay off his debt as soon as possible. Pepito wonders how he is going to manage that and Rafa informs him he will just have to hope he can get a loan. It is the only way he can get Marco off his back. Pepito wishes him good luck with that, after all it is really hard to get that kind of loan.
Don Gaston is trying to get Vicky to eat something. The only thing that will get her appetite back is to hear the voice of her Pajarito. The door bell rings and Don Gaston is off to see who it could be. Vicky sneaks out of the room wondering who might be calling as well. It is Lenora. Don Gaston is quite pleased to see her. He wants to know if his boys have been bugging her lately. She assures him they have been behaving. He invites her in and apologizes for not being able to offer her anything. After all his daughter has been very ill. He tells her he doesn’t know what to do for her. He has even thought about putting her in the hospital. But there are times when she is better. Especially when Rafa calls or visits. It is like “she comes back to life”. (funny how that works.)
Lenora tells him that it is because she cares for him so much. Don Gaston says, what a shame Rafa doesn’t feel the same. Lenora assures him Rafa still cares for her. They are just going through a little lovers crisis. Don Gaston agrees, telling her he is aware of her bugging him at work. He talked to her and put an end to it.
Vicky has snuck up even closer now as Lenora reminds Don Gaston about Rafa’s accident and the huge debt he has to pay back. Don Gaston says he knows about that and wants to know how it’s going. Lenora tells him he is working really hard, but the people he owes are being jerks. All that woman wants to do his humiliate him and scream at him all the time. Vicky silently but well hidden nods in agreement with Lenora. She tells Don G. if Rafa doesn’t make his payments they could put him in jail. Don G. tells her to “shush her mouth” (calle boca ) just think what that would do to his Vicky if Rafa ended up in Jail. (se fuera al bote). We see a distressed Vicky still lurking about.
Lenora tells him well that’s actually why she is there. He just doesn’t happen to have an extra 5 million laying around he could loan them? He gives an uncomfortable laugh and tells her that is a lot of money. (So here is every ones homework, what in the world does titipuchal mean? I am thinking it translates into something like “an obscene amount of money”. That is the word Don G said). He tells Lenora that he told Vicky that one just doesn’t loan that kind of money to just any one. Lenora tells him Rafa is not just anyone. He has known him since he was a child. He knows what a hard worker he is and that he finishes what he starts. Vicky again in the shadows is shaking her ahead in agreement to everything Lenora is saying. She goes on to say he is just not anyone, after all he is Vicky’s boyfriend. Don G is still not sold on the whole loan business.
Lenora tells him if he pays off his debt his worries will be alleviated and he will return to the old Rafa they all know and love, and Vicky will get the Rafa she fell in love with back. She tells him she is not asking for a gift, just tell her how he would like them to pay him back. Don Gaston has to think this over. After all this isn’t something you do without some deep thought. (more homework “echarle harto coco“ I know coco means to be smart or use your brain I just am not sure about that dicho.).
Don Gaston escorts her to the door telling her he will think about it. She thanks him for his time. He tells her he will think about it as he shuts the door. Don Gaston is overwhelmed with the thought of so much money. Vicky is hiding in the corner, praying that papa will come through with the money.
Like mother like son, we also have Rafa trying to get a loan. He is on the phone with the bank writing down all the things he has to have in order to apply for the loan. They are asking him what type of assets he has and Poor Rafa thinks they are asking him about furniture(“ immuebles” property or estates). Rafa wants to know how long it will take to approve his loan and is not happy with the answer.
Susana all business shows up with his check and goes to leave. Rafa stops her, asking for a favor. She reminds him she doesn’t do favors she just obeys orders as his secretary. (She had quite the snotty tone to her voice). He needs company records showing how much they make and other financial statements so he can apply for a loan. She agrees to get them for him and leaves. Rafa is quite pleased with his check. Too bad he has to give it all to Ale.
Jimenez is on the phone with the wife. Usual grind. “What do you want me to do rob a bank?" he asks her. Pepito asks him if he would really rob a bank. Jimenez thinks it might not be so bad if he got caught and had to go to jail. At least he wouldn’t have to put up with the Mrs. Jimenez is about to have worse problems than his wife. Remember the client a few weeks ago that gave Jimenez the cash to accessorize his new car?. Well that loan has come due!! He is back for his fully accessorized car. Unfortunately Jimenez pocketed the money to pay for his kids schooling, the light bills and the utilities. He begs Pepito to loan him 3500 pesos. That isn’t going to happen. He is able to buy himself a little time by telling the client the car got lost in the Philippines. There was a Tsunami or some such nonsense. He assures him it will be there tomorrow. The client warns him it better be. Hay dios Mio. Jimenez has 24 hours to come up with the money.
Rafa hands a personal check to Ale. His monthly payment. He tells her he has sufficient funds to cover the check and she could even call the bank to confirm this. Ale assures him she will call to confirm it. (We had a lot of snotty tones tonight.) She is surprised by the amount. It is more than he needs to pay her. She wants to know what the extra amount is for. He tells her it is for the loan she gave him when he first started to pay for family living expenses and for all the clothes she bought for him. Also for the clothes from Puerto Vallarta. The last part is her share of the commission from the Celeste deal. Ale tells him she had nothing to do with that sale. He assures her she was fundamental in this. She even accompanied him on the sale. She reminds him she did not accompany him. She went there acting crazy in front of that woman. He tells her without her help he would not have made the sale. She deserves her share. He tells her she can think what she wants to about him but he is gracious and just; especially with her.
We have a very intense moment of staring into one another’s eyes. The moment is over when Ale asks Rafa what kind of games he is playing with her. He tells her it is no game. He is just trying to pay her what he owes her. He pleadingly tells her he is not the thief that she thinks he is. He tells her if God willing he will soon be able to pay her what he owes her and goes to leave. Ale stops him and tells him she does not want the money from the Celeste deal and tells him to change the check. He tells her to do what she wants with the check. She tells him “okay well the only thing that interests you is money, and the only relationship that exists between us is money“ and writes out a check for him. She wants to settle things up (Finequittar/ settle ones account). She tells him it is his part of the commission from Cocoyok. Rafa tells her he had nothing to do with that. The only thing he did there was get thrown in jail. Ale quite outraged tells him “That’s the only thing you did in Cocoyoc? Nothing more?" Rafa looking totally broken attempts to leave. Ale screams at him and tells him he is not going anywhere. She continues screaming at him, telling him all she has left is her dignity and insists he take the money.
We have a deja vu moment with Ale trying to stuff the money in Rafa’s pocket and him fighting her off. She tells him you will do what I say and Rafa tells her she is no longer his boss. This happened in the very beginning as well and they were interrupted by Beltran. This time the interruption is by a very confused Susana who sees Ale struggling to pin Rafa against the wall trying to stuff the money in his pocket. They quickly separate as Susana asks what is going on? Ale quickly says “nothing, this guy is just trying to humiliate me and won’t take the money“. He tells her he doesn’t want it. It is hers and that’s it. And curtly says goodbye.
Susana tells Rafa a car is waiting for him to take him to Groupo Celeste. Ale sarcasticly tells him to have a good trip and to say Hi to Marian for her. Equally sarcastically, Rafa tells her he will and leaves. Susana is still confused at what she just saw. Rafa the thief, the swindler, the delinquent and the source of all her headaches wouldn’t take her money. Ale tells her that’s right.
Ale is trying to explain everything to Susana. Susana doesn’t quite understand why he would pay her all this but try to swindle her out of the house. Susana wants to know if Ale threatened him to pay. She denies this. She tells her all she asked was not to have anything more to do with him or his family, and to pay the entire debt as soon as possible and fall off the map.
Susana is still confused why Rafa would do this. Ale says it is because Rafa doesn’t want her to believe he is the thief she thinks he is. Also that he told her his main objective is to pay off the rest of his debt. Susana tells Ale that she thinks he is really planning to do this, since he asked her to get information needed for his loan application. Ale flippantly says lets hope so (ojala). Susana still thinks there is something strange about all of this. (our little glimmer of hope here).
Tia Rosario is dressed to the nines and ready for her big date with Quintana. She is all worried about how Jorge is going to react. Ale encourages her to go even if she has to lie to Jorge. Quintana is at the bar discussing his date with Rosario with a drinking buddy. His buddy is surprised that he would be interested in someone like Rosario. After all his type is usually much younger. Quintana assures him it is worth it. After all once they are married he will have lots of money. He plans to ask her tonight. If Jorge doesn’t butt in. (Oh please butt in Jorge).
Quintana shows up for Rosario and they sneak out before Jorge gets wind of it. Rosario has enlisted the help of Azucena. She asks her to lie to Jorge if he asks where she is. Jorge comes downstairs looking for his sister and Azucena tells him she went to the market. Jorge seems very upset by this and wants to know why she didn’t tell him this. He asks if she didn’t just leave with Quintana by any chance. Azucena gets all nervous and excuses herself telling Jorge she’s got beans on the stove. ( frijoles en la lumbre/ fire). Jorge is left frustrated and trying to figure out why she would be cooking beans at this hour.
Susana wants to know why Rosario never married. Ale tells her it is because she was so selective and Jorge was always so tough as well. She will probably never get married as well. Ale asks Susana if Dandy told her anything about the meeting he had with Rafa. Not yet, (but lets hope he tells her everything). Then she asks her what Rafa would be up to going over to Groupo Celeste. The deal was closed. Susana suggests that maybe Ale should ask Rafa herself. Why would she do that. (Were Ale’s big brown eyes looking a little green with envy?)
Marian and Rafa are looking over the fleet of used trucks that Marian needs to get rid of. She is giving him all the details. She says they are still worth lots of money. Rafa agrees but says they are old and have lots of mileage on them and he really doesn’t know what condition they are in. Marian assures him that she has all the details and she is being honest with him showing him the papers. Rafa is still worried how he is going to find clients for all those Monster trucks. She reminds him that a good part of what they will be paying for the new trucks will come from the sales of the old trucks. They have to come up with a good sales strategy for this. Why not go back to the office and discuss this.
Rosario and Quintana have arrived at the birthday party. It looks like a happening spot. Not!!! We have some talk about the birthday boy not being surprised Jorge is not there since he has a hard time remembering which of his friends are still alive or not. We also have some Margret chick putting the moves on Quintana with a disapproving Rosario by his side. Oh but our Quintana only has eyes for Rosario (and her money if there is anything left after Marco and Chavez have “Milked” the hacienda dry). Quintana wants a bottle of champagne. After all he is waiting for the most important answer in his life as he shoots loving looks at Rosario.
Jorge is having a serious meltdown as he is pacing about checking his watch and worrying about Rosario. He asks Azucena where she could be at this hour looking at his wrist. She informs him he is looking at his blood pressure cuff. Well that doesn’t matter, it is still late. She is never out this late. Something happened to her. He then accuses her of lying to him. He wants Quintana’s number now!! Azucena manages to escape to make a call to Ale. Ale tells her to tell Jorge to calm down and she will call him later.
Susana is intrigued about the call and Ale tells her that Jorge is hysterical. She manages to bring the conversation around to Rafa as she says to Susana “what about that Medina?’ He hasn’t returned yet. Susana says, do you need him for something? Do you want me to call him.? Ale feigning disinterest says “nah forget about him, let him enjoy himself with that beautiful women.”
Our last scene is with Rafa and “the beautiful woman” Marian in her office. They are working out the final details of how to unload all those trucks. She teases him a little bit about being so exact and Rafa whips out his calculator. He thinks it might cost about 100,000 pesos to fix up the trucks. She tells him they aren’t in her office to discuss these details. That’s his job. He asks her what she suggests he do. There was a lot of business talk that just went over my head. At one point Marian told Rafa that the whole problem resulted because he wouldn’t allow her to use the trucks as trade ins. Now she is stuck with them and needs to sell them separately. She warns him teasingly not to take advantage of the affection she has for him. I think if he can sell them at a certain price he ends up with a pretty good commission.
Anyway now that the business is settled, what about kicking back and having a few drinks. Rafa appears a bit nervous and is checking his watch. Marian wants to know if has another commitment. He assures her he doesn’t and downs his drink. She asks him if he will find a client for the trucks or buy them himself. He looks at her and says with what money. She tells him he could get a loan. He tells her that’s what he is trying to do, but not for the trucks. It is for an old debt he has. Oh well drink up and we end up with her saying “fondo banco hombre”. (Bottoms up? Not certain what that meant, more homework anyone?)

El Clon, Wed,. June 16 - Summary and discussion
Gloria wants nothing to do with Nati even though she saved Alej. She is horrified to learn that they are moving in together - Pues con tu pan te lo comerás, literally, 'then you will eat it with your bread' and probably means something similar to, 'you've made your bed, now lie in it.'
Clara suspects that Fernando is doing drugs.
Cristina has a new look for her job interview.
Cristina meets Malicia. Malicia instantly wants to get rid of Cristina and spins a tale of her hard life.
Nati almost has an encounter with Daniel in TOPIM (the only park in Miami).
Daniel goes to see Cristina but she isn't in the bar.
Zoraida's reaction when Said tells Jade to invite Jamila to the dinner with Ferrer's. Jade tells Zoraida that she will figure something out.
Amina is leaving Miami. She tells Rania that she has to give Said a son to make him forget Jade.
Abdul finds Zamira and Jadiya watching a novela and throws a fit cursing the West. He demands that Latifa get rid of the television and then he says that he will get Mohamed a second wife who is religious.
Daniel tells Albieri that he is fascinated with veils. Albieri offers to take him to Morocco and asks him not to seek out Cristina before the trip.
Nati assures Alej that she wants to live with him in poverty. Alej has gotten a job at Said's bar, too.
Lucia figures out that Marisa was wearing the necklace right before it was found in Alej's car. Marisa dismisses her suspicions.
Nati tells Rosa that no one in her house cares about what she thinks or feels. Marisa overhears Nati say how much she hates her mother. Why that would be a surprise after all the nasty stuff that Marisa has done, I don't know but Marisa appears to be upset by this revelation.
Jadiya asks Said to send Rania back. She believes that Rania caused things to change between Jade and Said. Said tells her that he and Jade are divorced. Jadiya says that when Jade leaves, she wants to go with her.
Said comes to see Rania and asks her to dance for him. All Said can think about is Jade and why he can't get her out of his heart. He leaves the room without saying a word.
Pablo tells Alej that he has to concentrate on working and training hard because he is going to fight in a month.
Mohamed has made an appointment for Zamira at the doctor.
The incredibly tiresome Hilda and Karla have a plan to snare Roberto by 'casually' running into him at expensive restaurants.
When Albieri comes home, Luisa asks if has been seeing another woman. Albieri asks if she has lost her mind, ¿Tú crees que a estas alturas de mi vida yo soy a estar in esas? Do you think that at this stage of my life, I would do that? [Note that he doesn't say that he loves Luisa and doesn't want to hurt her.] Luisa demands to know where he goes all day and all night if it's not a woman.
When argument won't change his determination to find out why Zamira hasn't gotten her period, Latifa pretends to faint.
The credits roll - let discussion begin.

Corazon Salvaje, Tuesday, June 15: Ep 82--Check fake pregnancy off your bingo card.
The sherrif inspects the body Branko found and is startled when one hand flops out of the sheet and touches him. He announces to Branko that they won't be able to identify her due to her disfigured face, so she'll have to be buried in a "fosa común". He finds it curious that Branko was the one to find her. Dude, seriously? Your CSI skills leave much to be desired. Branko says he didn't kill her and all the crap they say about his people are a bunch of lies. After all, there are murdering Whiteys and they don't go around saying all Whiteys are murderers. Whatever, the sherrif is still going to investigate Branko's ENTIRE community. Branko says if they find him guilty he'll pay the price, but he knows he didn't do it.
Arcadio tells Leo that they found Mirta's body, but they couldn't identify her, so she's going in the communal grave. No, they haven't found MdR yet. Leo won't be able to rest until she knows MdR has been found and buried. Arcadio bubbles that he's got to find MdR postehaste!
Jacinta covers MdR in a white cloth and says no one will recognize her. She'll walk MdR to the church and let her stay there while she goes to the market. But only if MdR promises not to move from the church. MdR agrees.
Rod has been wondering some stuff that he needs cleared up. He thinks Arcadio knows why Renato is being all crazy-like, based on Renato giving Arcadio his job back. Leo eggs him on…"Yes, Arcadio, tell us what happened." Arcadio says a letter came into his hands, a letter from Aimee to…Juan del Diablo. Rod and Leo are impactados!
Noel asks Renato what he hopes to accomplish with his newfound alcoholism. Renato just wants to take his mind off of stuff. "Stuff? Like being upset about not wanting to share with Juan? Or going to the sherrif to tell him to go after Juan? And what would you accuse him of? He's a man who took his wife on a honeymoon cruise!" Renato suggests maybe they'll tell the sherrif about Juan's other little adventures on the high seas. He calls Juan a "pobre diablo" who was too afraid to tell him the truth because he was afraid Renato would kill him. I paused the DVR right when Noel had a look on his face like Renato's breath was killing him. Don't light a match, dude. Caution! Renato is highly flammable! Keep away from open flames! Noel says it hurts to see him like this. He asks him to quit drinking so he can think clearly. Renato says he can't blame the drink for what Juan has done to him. "I can accept that you don't know EVERYTHING, but I can't believe you don't know ANYTHING!" Noel starts to take his leave, but Renato wants Noel to help him come up with a way to squeeze more money out of his land. "Isn't that what you have Arcadio for? To mistreat the workers?"
Rod screams for Aimee. The shit hath hitteth the fan…ith. Rod says someone told them everything. Leo backs him up. Rod says they can't understand where Aimee is hiding her mask. She keeps playing dumb. Leo says Arcadio told them about a letter.
"Que suden oro para mis arcas," declares Renato. Well, son, that's what we call "exploitation." Renato says he needs money to make a woman want him more than anyone else, and if that's the only thing he can do to make her love him, then he has all the right in the world to want more money, no matter who has to suffer for him to get it.
The confrontation of Aimee continues. She continues her denial. Rod has figured out the truth. Leo throws it in her face that she was Juan's "amante."
Reggie washes her face, still in her habit, but out of her veil. She takes the habit off, but is still more than decently covered. Juan comes in without knocking and says he doesn't have to knock to come into his own cabin where his own wife is! "I'm only your wife out of obligation." Tough noogie, says Juan. Reggie complains there's nowhere for her to change. Juan says he'll do something about it. He grabs a sheet off the bed and nails it up to the wall.
Jimena looks at a basket of yarn. Gabe comes in. She's sad and he doesn't like it. He says they're leaving soon. Jimena agrees they'll be happy, but she doesn't want to leave Mariela. Gabe proposes to distract her with a walk after work. Jimena refuses. She doesn't want to run into Branko or her aunt. Gabe says they'll go somewhere where there's no one else around and "disfrutamos de nuestro amor" which sounds like code for "do it."
Juan finishes using the nail and some cord to make a curtain so that Reggie has a private place to change. Then he invades the curtained space and tells her he can fulfill all her desires. If she wanted, he'd make her his, but he won't do it by force. Sounds like a challenge to me. He goes back to his desk while Reggie rearranges her curtains.
Well, there's definitely some loveplay on the beach with Gabe and Jimena. Where did he find a private beach? He uses his sword to draw something in the sand, then they play in the water. He dives in repeatedly to get shells. They're really both just too, too pretty. He made a big shell design with their initials in concentric hearts (can hearts be concentric?).
Pedro and Remigio go to Jacinta's hut, but she's not there. He proposes they have a snack while they wait. Remi reminds him that Juan said to hurry, and to be careful. Pedro says they can't be careful and go shopping at the same time. Then he proposes they go in drag to go shopping.
Pedro and Remi go to the market all covered up in Jimena's clothes. Remi doesn't think it will work, but gets nervous when he sees soldiers and pitches his voice up higher. Pedro has some trouble with the gender of his adjectives. A vendor flirts with him, calling him "chaparrita," and inviting him to have a drink. The vendor likes difficult women! Pedro says he'd better respect him and then has to resort to lowering his voice a few octaves. Jimena recognizes him and has a good giggle. They start to leave and run into some soldiers, so they go the other way. Pedro says he'll explain.
A maid comes to tell Phillipe that someone's looking for him. He gets all excited and goes to answer the door, then shrieks and shuts it again. On Remi. In drag. He tells "her" they don't have any work available right now. Remi asks for Malu. Phillipe thinks he looks like a relative of Remigio's..no, wait, it is I, Remigio! Phillipe is shocked. "I've never seen a woman as ugly as you!" Remi begs Phillipe to let him talk to Malu. Remi debates whether he wants to leave the shawl up or down.
Aimee keeps claiming her innocence. She says it was a long time ago, in a weak moment. Rod smacks her around and calls her a mujerzuela. Rod threatens to kill her, but she says she's pregnant with Renato's baby and they'd be making the kid pay along with her. Aimee cries and says the baby's "sangre inocente de los Montes de Oca." Rod is shocked. Aimee says she's sure, she and Renato are expecting and that's why she's kept her mouth shut. Reggie did what she wanted to do, out of love for Renato. Leo is shocked. Aimee says made a mistake and she only loves Renato, with all her soul…and now she wants to die because she's not worthy of his trust! You go right ahead and die, sugar, I'd hate to stand between you and anything you really want.
Renato paces downstairs. He pours himself another drink. Clem begs him to stop drinking. Renato says it's the only way he can handle what's happening--the lies, the hypocrisy, the fakeness. Clem reminds him of what a nice, bland sucker he used to be. Ren says that's over. Clemencia says he's so bitter, when he used to be full of love. "Love. What's love? Love is something that governs us, governs our spirits, and invites us to be generous. But when love is gone and hate traps us, it enslaves us, making us get to know our dark side." Renato says it's a suspicion, the suspicion that he's been betrayed, that's why he's drinking. To be able to survive it. He now decides drinking out of the bottle would be more efficient.
Aimee says she can't take it anymore. She's going to go tell Renato and let him kill her. Leo stops her from leaving. She won't let Aimee hurt Renato further. She's tired of hearing Aimee whine about "her" life…her life belongs to someone else now! Leo blames herself for letting Aimee get her hooks into Renato. Rod refuses to take Aimee with him. Leo says Aimee's going to follow Leo's orders from now on! She will live only for Renato. She'll be like a slave. Aimee weeps and tries to get someone to feel sorry for her, but that ain't gonna happen. She complains about being Renato's slave. Rod says he agrees with Leo. Renato starts yelling for Aimee and she squeals and begs for help. Leo and Rod decide to go talk to Ren and agree he shouldn't know the truth. They leave Aimee to her weeping.
MdR prays to the Virgencita. She remembers almost marrying Juan.
Renato shouts for Aimee. Leo and Rod come in. He doesn't want to stay and listen to them, but Rod says he has to. "Your wife is feeling indisposed." Leo says they've got to talk to him about the "truth" he's been looking for. Rod says Aimee has never cheated on him and never lied to him. That she loves him, only lives for him, and is desperate because of the way he's been treating her. So she's hidden something important from him…that she's pregnant with his baby. Ren is shocked. He can't believe it. Leo says that's why Aimee is suffering so much. Leo gets on him about his drinking. Ren says it hasn't helped him anyway, he's still just as crabby. Rod says he's obligated to consider that he's going to be a dad, so he needs to get himself straightened out already!
Juan knocks on the door to the cabin, but Reggie doesn't like how he knocked. She asks why they're waiting. Juan says she doesn't care, does she? Juan goes to lie down on his bed, but Reggie is scandalized by it and won't lie down with him. She gets very upset at him making out with the pillow and beats him with it. He finally says he won't stay, he just wanted to see how she reacts. She throws things at the door and screams that she hates him. Juan's really getting a kick out of all this. Reggie keeps shouting that she hats him and he's a savage. She throws some things around in proper Montes de Oca fashion.
Fosa común=communal grave
Impactados=shocked…but really, it's more fun to just leave it in Spanish. It's a Caray, Caray! thing. Can someone go into the history for us?
Pobre diablo=poor devil
Que suden oro para mis arcas=let them sweat gold for my coffers
Amante=lover
Disfrutamos de nuestro amor=we'll enjoy our love
Chaparrita=shorty (or "shawty" would work if that's how you roll)
Mujerzuela=slut
Sangre inocente de los Montes de Oca=innocent Montes de Oca blood
Virgencita=little virgin, affectionate term for the Virgen in one of her many incarnations
Montes de Oca=wild goose? Seriously?

El Clon Tuesday June 15: Summary and Discussion
Gloria and Pablo’s visit to Marisa gains nothing but a threatened restraining order. Gloria isn’t even allowed to see Alej in jail. Finally Natalia saves the day by confessing that she stole the necklace – so she could wear it to the prom.
Yo te lo iba a devolver
I was going to give it back to you, says Nati innocently.
Alej is freed and Marisa is left to swallow her own venom.
The accusation has done its damage, though, and Leo is no longer offering Alej a job in the company. Alej himself says they need to let things cool down a bit. Nati is feeling very alone.
Said again mentions the dinner for Leo Ferrer, tells Jade that she and Rania have to go, and that of course Lucas will be there.
Rania tells Said about the visit from Zoraida’s friend who spent the night in Jade’s room. When she sees how angry he is at Jade, she tries to make it worse:
Yo jamás hubiera hecho una cosa así
I would never have done a thing like that, says Miss Goody-Two-Shoes Rania.
It backfires though and Said gets mad at all the women. Then he goes to question Abdul and he, remarkably, supports Jade’s version of the story although he remarks sourly that if Said had taught Jade from the beginning who was the camel and who the bedouin, none of this would be happening.
Nati, Fernando and Andrea are completely stoned and can’t stop laughing when Lucia comes home. She thinks they are mocking her or that they are hiding something about Roberto from her. She goes to the office and bursts into a meeting, to everyone’s embarrassment, hers and Roberto’s most of all.
Cristina (back in a red dress) is out with Vicki and meets up with an old friend, Rogelio, who is going to be opening a tony bar in Brickell with – you guessed it – an Arab. Cristina, he says, would be perfect as his relacionista pública. She’s about to turn him down, but when Leo and Amalia happen by she changes her mind.
¿Cuándo empiezo entonces?
So when do I start?
[Remember that Malicia wanted this job and was disappointed to be offered a lesser post of ‘assistant.’ !!!]
The Naz runs across the street and makes a declaration of sorts to the bare-chested Pablo who doesn’t quite know what hit him.
In the final scene, a lonely Natalia calls Fernando and asks him to get her some pot.
Okay, amigos, discuss among yourselves!

Dinero 6/15: Rafa assembles a posse.
The most important thing that happened tonight: Rafa assembled the people he can trust at Auto Siglo, i.e. Pepeto, Dandy, and Jimenez (he mentioned Don Ismael but for some reason he's not in this meeting), and tells them the entire story of Rafa and Ale, up to the present day, including the deal he was forced to make with Marco to keep his mom out of jail: that he tell Ale he did lead her on for personal gain and did try to sell his house as unencumbered.
Jimenez tells them about seeing Marco kissing a "fat, vulgar woman," wondering because that didn't seem like the kind Marco would go for. Rafa tells them how he, too, once saw Marco kissing a woman in a bar, but that time it was a sexy woman. And he has seen Marco several times with [well we know it's Chavez]. He decides he needs to find out who the vulgar woman is and why Marco was kissing her - and also who is the fat old guy Marco hangs with?
Also happening tonight: Marino goes ballistic when Rafa awards the "employee of the month" prize (a huge watch) to Dandy, because Marino is not attending meetings or being a good team player. Beltran backs Medina. There is a toddler/playground tussle of no importance.
And: Marco wants Ale to quit. "I will support her and her family." Chavez chokes with laughter - they have squeezed the hacienda dry. Marco can't believe it. Chavez says he'll need a whiskey when he looks over the balance sheet. True enough! Marco insists that Chavez get more blood from this stone. They blame each other's extravagances for the predicament. But meanwhile, Ale better not quit her job.
Ale has just, in fact, tried to quit her job because (1) she thinks nobody wants her or likes her at Auto Siglo but all bow at the feet of Rafa and (2) she can't stand to be near Rafa. Beltran refuses her resignation; when she insists, he says he won't give her a letter of recommendation and she'll have to go into some other line of work - he won't have her going to the competition the way Rafa did! She's drowning in debt and cries a lot.
A short pointless scene at the beauty parlor - go visit http://awfulplasticsurgery.com's Bad Boob Job Archive to see other examples of skinny women with huge fake looking implants.
Tomorrow: there may be a fleeting tender moment but don't hold your breath.

Care and Feeding of a Recapper.
We recently pulled the plug on Clon recaps because most nights, only two people (other than the recappers) were posting comments. This post isn’t really about the Clon board. It’s for the readers and lurkers on all the other boards, so you don’t lose your recaps, too.
It’s common for a recapper to spend three hours on a recap, and some take longer. The recappers are all volunteers. When they take a show, they are expected to stay for the duration, sometimes 14 months. They’re not paid, so why do they do it? As a service to the Caray community. For me, it feels good to know I’m helping others enjoy the shows like others helped me. So when no one comments, I feel like I’m giving a concert for an empty auditorium. People say, “Plenty of people read the recaps; they just don’t comment.” Well, excuse my bluntness. Am I investing three hours or more per night for the sake of people who can’t invest 90 seconds for a two-sentence reply?
I’m not asking for praise and adulation. Just shuffle your feet so we know you’re out there, so we know we’re not playing to an empty room. You can’t think of anything to say? Here are some ideas for starters.
• I’m glad you explained what Festus said to Sadie. They talked too fast and I couldn’t understand it.
• I laughed when you said Hephzibah had eyes in the back of her head thanks to too many facelifts.
• Do you REALLY believe Hortense is going to tell Aloysius the whole truth? Really???
• Feonando and Crabiela. Ewww. Creepy.
• I loved the scene where Martín said, “Nooo! Plátanos!”
• What do we want for Snidely? Hungry alligators or a runaway steamroller?
• I really wish he’d just kiss her already, doggone it!
• Paula’s right. Fernando Colunga truly is the best looking man on earth. (Las burras por delante!)

Corazon Salvaje 6/14/10 Too Many Secrets
Review: Noel has intervened between Renato and Aimee, who is screaming he wants to kill me and I didn't do anything, I didn't do anything!! Juan is carrying a struggling Regina to the captain’s quarters, she is saying "don't touch me!!" She loses her struggle to her illness and goes limp. Juan lays her on the bed and she starts to shake. Juan doesn’t know what to do, what’s wrong with you? Dios mio!, Colibri comes and tells Juan that Regi has the same illness the men at the Paradise had. She continues pale and shaking in her nun's habit. Coli says We've got to do something or she’ll die! Juan is disturbed - Don’t say that!
Noel has intervened between Aimee and Renato and is telling Aimee that it’s probably just all that has happened that is upsetting them. He tells Ren he's noticed the drinking but right now, it’s better to relax, and you, too, Aimee, calm down. Don’t cry anymore, remember that there are no roses with out thorns, no heaven without suffering. Aimee continues crying. Noel says let’s leave behind all that’s happened, Aimee interjects No, I don’t want to sleep here! Renato who clearly isn’t listening to his dad, downs more wine. No, I want to go sleep in my room, my old room!! At this, furious Renato shouts No way dude!! and throws his wine glass across the room in the direction of Aimee, who starts wailing anew. Noel gives Renato a withering parental stare and Aimee says Padrino get me out of here!! he says, I beg you, let Aimee leave. Then turns at the door and starts to say something to Ren, who shouts YA YA YA YA YA YA YA YA!! shooing them out of the room. Noel points his finger and says, young man we will talk tomorrow! More YA YA YA from Ren and as we hear them leave he takes a swig of the bottle, and continues his tantrum by throwing it and sweeping the stuff off of the table.
Crashing waves in the night and we are in the cave with Fed and Servando who have to remove the body of the man stabbed by Fulgencio. Fed says the boss man will never know what happened, Servi says watch out for Fully and you'd better bet careful fooling around with Eloisa. Feddy grabs him by the neck ‘ mucho cuidado, Servando, you're playing with fire! Don’t imagine I am a gentleman and don’t cross me! He releases Servi, who chokes and touches his neck, Fed starts to move the body and shouts at him, come on, help me already!!!
Juan is removing Regi’s shoes and Colibri continues to tell him how the men died who had the fever, that he saw it, the heat and fever, Coli is really getting into the description, scrinches up his face and says something about the pain in the head, blood boiling, holding his arm up and clawing his hand down his arm, like this like this! Regi shakes and trembles some more - See Capitan, she is trembling! We have to do something! But what? We need to put vinegar on her head! Juan runs out to get it and Coli says don’t die, senorita, don’t die!! Juan runs back with the bottle of vinegar.
Back at the puerto, Madame is feeding soup to Rosenda who still appears to be in a lot of pain. She tells her, her name is Rosenda and she worked with a family that didn’t treat her well. What happened to me? You had an accident, but I’ll tell you about it later, it’s important that you stay calm, for you ....... and the child you are expecting, as she touches Rosie’s stomach. Rosie is impactada, then I must be married, where is my husband? You don't have a husband, you are a poor girl who has suffered a lot and made some mistakes because of that. Do I have family? Your father died, and my mother, where is my mom? Madame is about to cry and Rosie looks at her puzzled.
Feddy is holding up a little bottle to Eloisa and telling her to be very careful, to look for the right moment to poison Fulgencio as soon as you can. And what is the hurry? she asks. I don't trust Servando, at any moment he could rat us out. So, Servando wants to betray us? Eloisa smugly says - Don't worry about him, I'll take care of him. You? what are you going to do? You'll find out, and Eloisa grabs him for a clandestine kiss. As he leaves, she looks at the bottle and then hides it down the front of her dress.
Rosie is saying to Madame, you didn't answer my question, where is my mother? She isn't here right now. Why? She made a lot of errors out of ignorance, and you don't know how sorry she is, as Madam starts to sob, Rosenda looks perplexed, Madame goes on crying, she'll come when she can, but the important thing is that you know she wants your forgiveness and this is her opportunity to show you how much she loves you. Both are crying.
Colibri tells Capitan he is doing the compress all wrong. Geez Capitan, don't you know any better than that, como crees? He takes it and shows Juan how to put the compress on Regi's head, softly, gently. He tries, but is anxious and wants to leave. Coli tells him no, you have to watch her all night, she is sick! All night?! Ach, Que tienes senorita, ya? What we have to do is get Doctorcito, go tell Santos that even though it's dangerous they have to go find him. Coli leaves and Juan continues to try to put the cloth on her forehead, Regi continues to shake. He looks up at his father's picture on the wall for support or inspiration and the love song comes on. He looks down at Regi, saying to himself, she is such a beautiful woman, he just noticed. He touches her forehead gently, she so clean, so pure, Regi starts moaning for water, Juan nervously fumbles for it.
We fly through the clouds to the Puerto, and Noel is talking to Gabriel. Noel says Juan is in trouble with the authorities, and he's made it worse by leaving. Do you know where he's gone? Sorry, I don't, but in my capacity as his notary, I am charged to tell you he now wants his half of the finca del mar and the Montes de Oca fortune. Noel is muy impactado and in slow motion, says whoa didn't see that coming - Juan must have changed his mind, he always said he didn't want any of that money. Why do you say that, are you going to oppose this? No Gabriel, not at all, and especially now that Juan is married to Regina. I'll be the first to say Juan should have his inheritance, he is fully within his rights, I won't be the one to stop it.
Doctorcito is taking care of Regina while Juan and Coli look on. Coli, still playing the adult in this situation, prompts Juan to ask, what does she have? She may have gotten the fever from being around the sick men, I have given her the medicine and we'll see if she gets better. But, whatever else, this illness has been aggravated by her state of being. Doc hesitates, Juan says go ahead, speak frankly. Well, Regina has had an attack of terror (panic attack?) Juan says she not like the other Montes de Loca's, she's very delicate isn't she? No, Regina has always seemed to me to be strong, and brave, it may be going on the voyage that has made her sick. Could be. The Doc gets out medicines and starts to head towards Regi to give them to her, but Juan politely blocks him. Doc gets it and says, I'll just leave them here. Juan says I'm in debt to you yet again, Doc. Doc says no, I believe in what you're doing and I care about Regi. Juan tells Coli to accompany him out, he kneels down to give Regi the medicine and jumps when the Doc comes back in unexpectedly. He tells Juan to take care of her and protect her with his life if necessary, she is a good woman, the best woman I have ever known. (Aww) Doc leaves and Juan kneels down to very tenderly put the pills in Regina's mouth.
Outside Coli is crying and Doc walks up saying you care a lot about her don't you? She has always been good to me, she is going to get better isn't she? Colibri, do you know how to pray? Maybe you could teach me. Your sadness is probably enough for God to hear you. Why? Because he is the only one who can save her. Remigio looks on concerned as Coli cries and starts to pray. Doc pats his shoulder comfortingly.
Arcadio is hiding behind a tree and eating an apple while spying on the Doc's place. He watches Doctorcito come back, followed a little later by Madame and a little later still, Clemencia. (Uh oh).
Aimee is in her bedroom crying and tearing apart her bed. Maldita Regina!!! She's going to be in bed with Juan, Maldita!! Celia comes in good morning! What are you talking about, good morning!! I brought your breakfast. She glances at the bed and says, I wonder where Juan and Regina are? Shut up!!! Shut up!! as Aimee knocks the tray out of her hand. But people are saying Juan has taken Regina on his boat. Aimee wants none of this, Luzbel, basta! He's like a king on his boat, a tyrant, that's all. Celia says just like Renato is with the finca...MEN. Renato has changed so much (gee wonder why, Aimee), I'm afraid of him now. Celia replies that she kinda noticed that and Aimee better be careful. The only one who can protect me is my Padrino Noel. I don't know how to get Leonarda to support me, to trust me. Celia has a brilliant idea, I know!!! Leonarda is dying for a grandson, if you have a baby she'll have to come around. (Really, does this girl know Leonarda?) Lightbulb goes on over Aimee's head.
Renato is yelling at Noel, Nunca Nunca will I share the Finca with Juan, let him take half of my hard work! But before you wanted to give it to him, says Noel sensibly. Well, that was before, before he showed me his true face! But Juan has every right to this as a Montes de Oca, and Regina as well. If Regina wants to go with a ruffian, a liar, a thug, that's that. But....I can't believe what I'm hearing, I can't believe you have changed so much!! Noels starts, Listen to me well..interrupted by Ren yelling WHAT WHAT!!, Listen, if you fight this, you're the one who will suffer. Okay Dad,you want to know why I've changed? Yes I want to know. I AM SICK AND TIRED, SICK AND TIRED of being betrayed, I've been betrayed and I'm going to do the punishing with my own hands!!!! GET IT??!!! I can't say I really blame him.
Eloisa is pouring the poison in some coffee and bringing it to Fulgencio. Here is your coffee dear, just how you like it. Fully is focusing on his work, and Eloisa complains about how he doesn't even look at her when she brings his coffee, she says slyly, go ahead, drink your coffee before it gets cold. He says, but you never pay attention to me, and as it always goes with poisonings, he lifts the cup to drink but doesn't and puts it down. Okay, what do you want Eloisa, a new present? I don't want you to think I am a woman who doesn't care about the wellbeing of her husband. Fully stands up and runs into the book and papers, knocking over the coffee and spilling it. Que barbaridad! Now look what I did, thank you Eloisa, but leave me alone, let me work in peace! I don't need coffee, I don't need anything, and now I'll have to start all over! I'll bring you another cup, NO Eloisa, I said I don't want anything, just let me work, please! She has an enigmatic look, foiled but also taken aback.
Aimee meanwhile is saying, Of course, a grandchild will fix everything, she'll have to protect me. She and Celia agree what a good idea this is. But Aimee holds a butter knife to her throat and says I'd better be able to count on your discretion. No, no, no, don't worry, my lips are sealed! She clutches her abdomen, yes a child will save me! We hear an echo of child laughter in the background, (Juanito?)
Arcadio is telling Leo he spied on the Doc and saw that Madame Marlene going in and out. Leo knows immediately that means Rosenda is there, she tells Arca Madame is Rosie's mom. She is Rosenda's mother?!! Oh, yes, yes, only Rod and I knew that, Marlene was Magda, the wife of Celestino, she abandoned the girl a long time ago. Clemencia was there, too. Clemencia!!?? Leo is furious, I don't understand that mujer, she is going to pay dearly for her betrayals!! She storms out the door. Arca says to himself, since Rosie is the daughter of that slut, now I know where she is, muy bien. One down... but where is the loca? I've got to find her before someone else does. She must be at the beach, always waiting for her Juan de Dios. He says in a silly high voice, locacita, locacita, I'm coming to get you, and then loud deep voice, where did you go!!
The loca is lying on the sand, a bit of leg showing, when Santos's girlfriend (whose name I can't remember) happens upon her. Senora are you alright? Who are you? says MdR as she covers her leg. Are you Arcadio's wife? No No, I'm not anyone's wife, she starts to panic. That man only hurts me, hits me, and she starts to struggle over the dune. We hear the music getting dramatic and see Arca hoofing it up the beach. Santos' GF believes MdR that she is not Arca's wife, sees Arca coming and hurries MdR to hide behind the dunes. They hunker down, we see Arca getting closer, but somehow he doesn't see them and turns around and heads back down the beach. Santos' GF says come to my house and leads MdR away.
Clem is talking to Leo, saying yes it is true, I went to see Rosenda, what of it? Someone tried to kill her. Leo says That doesn't surprise me, women like that always have a bad end, same as her mother. Does she know who tried to kill her? We see Leo's relief when Clem says, No, the blow to her head made her lose her memory. Leo warns Clem that she doesn't want her visiting Rosenda, it is a betrayal of her trust. Cheeky Clem says Why, because she is expecting Rod's kid? Leo is taken aback and scandalized, Shut up!! We won't talk about that because you know it isn't true! Senora, of course it's true, you know she is expecting Rod's child! Shut up already!! We won't be having any more bastards in this family! Even if you don't want to recognize it, there will be another bastard. No, it won't be born, there won't be another bastard in this family!! Enter Ren, what bastard are you talking about? Clem and Leo are quiet. What's going on, why are you both quiet? What bastard are you talking about? Leo tries, about Juan del Diablo, of course, what other bastard is there? Ren doesn't buy it, there were lots of lies about Juan, that my Dad is his dad, so how would I know !? Leo says Let's drop this disagreeable subject, shall we? But Ren, still pissed off about betrayals and lies, says I just want to make it clear that I don't want any more lies in this house, I am FED UP with lie after lie in this household!! NO MORE LIES, GET IT!!!? And by the way, where is Rosenda? She left, she is a robber, Clem interrupts, Dona Leonarda!! Celia breaks in telling them Raul is there wanting to see Renato and Leo. Clem, I'll talk to YOU later. Intense looks between Ren and Leo. Clemencia looks daggers at Leo as she leaves.
Rod has his house and his maid back, is paying the bankers, and rudely tells them to get the hell out. He will never forgive how they treated him!! The maid shoos them out. Rod sits gloating and saying Mi Casa, Mi Casa. Then a conversation about the maid bringing some young woman she knows to work there. Maybe she'll help get old Woody back in form.
We are on the boat and Juan is watching Regina start to stir and wake up. Juan is friendly and sweet, I'm glad to see you woke up, are you feeling better? Regi says don't touch me!! Juan still maintains his humour and asks her again how she is feeling. Regi looks a little shaken, and asks who took care of me, after all, it couldn't be you. Juan looks away hurt and getting angry, No, it was Colibri. Claro, of course it was, I knew it wouldn't be you! Juan says, remember we are husband and wife, it could be me. Regi says por disgracia!! She doesn't want to be reminded. He starts to go get Colibri, but then offers her some water. I don't want anything from you!!! Juan then drinks the glass of water he offered her, making a huge production of how refreshing, how good it is, he savors it, saying ummmm, ummm, this is good. As soon as he is out of sight, Regi grabs the bottle and gulps some down, saying to herself, what has happened to me? Renato, you will never know the sacrifice I made for you!
Raul is talking to Renato and Leo, he has come to invite them to a party to introduce his friends from Puebla. Sullen and drunk Renato says, sorry, Dude, Aimee and I can't make it. Leo is flustered and embarrassed and tries to cover - It's all the scandal in this family, all the terrible things that have happened lately. It's that horrible Juan, that salvaje. Raul, says wait a minute ma'am, with all due respect, isn't that Juan del Diablo your nephew?
MdR and Santos' GF are in her hut and MdR is wearing fisherwoman clothes, white. She looks relaxed and almost happy. Santos' GF talks about how Arca won't hurt her here, and Santos will soon come back and they will get married. MdR suddenly remembers to ask, where is Mirta?
In answer to that question, we see Branco by a river, he stops, startled as he sees a body in the water.
Back on the boat Juan is talking to the pescadores, telling them Regi is better. Remigio says it must have been a miracle, just as Doctorcito said, only God could save her. They are all happy she is better, the love song comes on and Remi says it's because you cared for her all night. How could I do anything else? Even though it seems to have bothered her. Coli has brought food to Regi and she is thanking him. He tells her the Capitan seems rough, but he stayed by you all night. Regi looks taken aback. Yes, he gave you your medicine, took care of you. How do you know? Because I saw him watching you sleep and he was looking at you with much tenderness. The Capitan? He looked at me tenderly? Yes, much tenderness, I've never seen him look at a woman that way. Regi says, No, no, no puede ser, because Juan hates me! He only wants me for vengeance. You can say what you want, but he looked at you like someone very special, VERY special.

El Clon Monday June 14: Discussion
Marisa manages to make her accusation stick and Alejandro spends the night in jail. Leo and Lucas are no longer so sure of his innocence and refuse to help with his legal expenses. Lucia looks like she may be suspicious of Marisa, but doesn’t say anything. Gloria is furious and goes to the Ferrer house to confront la vieja bruja de Marisa. And the despairing Nati is finally receptive to Fernando’s invitation that she try smoking dope. He tells her that in dealing with his family problems:
Ha sido lo único que me ha podido ayudar
It's the only thing that has been able to help me.
Jade and Lucas elude discovery at Said’s house. She does the sword dance for him and they spend the night together; he escapes in the morning, once again disguised as the burka-clad Jamile.
Daniel is “remembering” things that happened in Lucas’s life, the veiled dance of a beautiful Arab woman.
La miro y la deseo.
I watch her and I desire her, he says.
He is oddly attracted to the culture of the desert. He still believes Albi is his father and would like him back with his mother, Dora.
An elegantly depressed Cristina, stunning in her black leotard, accepts that her break with Leo is definitive. Leo seems ready to work things out with Amelia.
We learn that the Arab who owns the new bar on Brickell is none other than Said. So we’ll soon see Malicia and Said crossing paths.
Karla and Hilda are gunning for Roberto at the Club.
Okay, now discuss among yourselves!

Dinero Monday June 14, 2010 Are We Having Fun Yet?
Here's how the episode went tonight. Rafa arrives home from his obligatory house call at Vicky's to lament how Vicky's family pressured him into promises he didn't want to make (and Vicky into kisses he didn't want to give). Jaime nervously champions Vicky's cause and even Julieta and Leonor finally conclude that Vicky is the lesser of two evils, particularly if Papa Gaston follows through with his promises to control her stalking phone calls and visits to the office.
Following this, we have twin scenes of Rafa and Alejandra waking up depressed and weary. Looking at the phone. Waiting for a call. Getting a call but Rafa hangs up before she answers. Both drag themselves out of bed with hardly enough energy to get to work.
Alejandra perks up momentarily when Tia Rosario confides that Quintana asked her to be his novia and go with him to a party that evening. Alejandra is immediately on board, happy that someone's love life is going well (or so she thinks). She counsels Rosario to pay no attention to her brother's worries. She has the privilege of loving a man who really cares for her. That doesn't happen every day so don't blow your chances. Off the two trot to Rosario's room to look over outfits. Alejandra wants Auntie to wear a plunging neckline black top she gave her, as well as a little skirt to show off her pretty legs. Tia is hesitant. We'll see where this goes.
Meanwhile Jorge has found the love note Rosario dropped and is aware that a romance is afoot. We'll see how that goes also!
Now to work. Alejandra arrives and has a little heart to heart with Susana. Confides that she didn't sleep a wink last night. Her family is thick as thieves with Marcos and indignant about Rafa. Wanted him to leave Auto Siglo but of course that's impossible. He has to keep working to repay her. So she'll quit. Susana reminds her that the last time she tried to quit no one else would hire her.
Rafa arrives. Gloomy "buenos dias". Alejandra snaps that she wants Susana to get the carpenter back to put up a door since she doesn't want to share space with that man. Or even talk to him. All communication must be passed through Susana. Oh my, it's all so high school romance isn't it?
And speaking of sophomoric...we have another random corrupt cop scene. The bozos are trying to hit up Marian Celeste for a bribe (mordida) because she lacks a licence plate (it fell off a few blocks back). Marian doesn't bite and assures them they're not getting a peso out of her. And they don't.
Rafa finally arrives at the sales floor, startling Pepeto with his old garish tie and signature early days white socks. Seems he's trying to get his former vibe back and we have a nice retrospective of his lingerie hawking days. Ladies, if your hubby doesn't just jump off the bed when he sees this, you'll get your money back! he promises, waving a lacy bustier around in his hands. Pepeto assures him he's the same guy he ever was....a good friend, a fellow who loves his family. But Rafa knows different. He's lost Alejandra....and he wants her back.
We switch to another buddy scene: Marcos and Chavez. The latte wants to know how things are going with Alejandra. Well, she's very affected by the swindle and losing Rafa but Marcos is sure they acted just in time. If not, he would have lost Ale forever. But he's sticking like glue now, and eventually she'll be his. (Let's hope he's wrong, wrong, wrong.)
Back at Auro Siglo, finally the junta begins and Alejandra's in a foul mood with most of the staff. However the General's sales have been good. Ditto for Bebe and Dandy. Jose Tomas (Pepeto) comes in for a drubbing however. He excuses his poor performance on first month blues and promises to do better next month. May God hear you but I don't think He's listening snaps Ale. Another poor performer was Ramirez who blames it on the beating he got. But what about all those other months of poor performances? asks Ale. Has he been mugged every month of the year?
And up jumps our separated socialite Rosaura, championing the cause of the poor. You're the "mosca en la sopa" (fly in the soup) of this department retorts Ale. You haven't made one single sale this month. Rosaura's plea is that separated folks, or those suffering heartaches, should have the same 40 days grace period as women who've just given birth. Another argument that doesn't fly, but it does give everyone the chance to point out that certain people have canceled meetings and been in bitchy moods ever since their love life went sour, so why not grant that same slack to the sales force? The incipient revolt is quashed by the arrival of Señor Beltran.
He wants the sales figures for the month. And Ale indicates that Rafa should be the one to give them. He's as positive and encouraging as Ale was sarcastic and downbeat. He affirms the good work of the sales force, gives the numbers for the sales off the floor (not good enough, gasps Beltran) but indeed it is, because together with the institutional sales, Auto Siglo has more than made it's quota for the month. Beltran is ecstatic to learn Rafa has closed the Celeste deal. Applause all around from the staff. Rafa points out that a significant part of the institutional sales were thanks to Ale and Carbones de Norte. Insignificant applause. Ale's not winning any contests here.
And neither is Marino. Although he tried to get hold of the monthly prize earlier (a watch), practically wresting it out of the hands of Susana, it seems the fellow with the highest sales figures was none other than Dandy. So he gets the watch. And Rafa, with his big institutional sale, gets a fancy new telephone, more appropriate for the fine executive he now is. No problem programming in the old phone numbers....just change the chip. It's what's inside that counts, explains Beltran.
Best part of the evening was the long shot of Dandy's surprised but ecstatic face when he learns he's the month's winner. And there we end.
Previews:
Ale hands in a letter of resignation again.
Rafa vows not to let her quit.

escote = neckline (usually plunging or cut very deep...at least on Univision)
cohecho, soborno = also words for" bribe
Dicho of the Day
Camarón que se duerme, se lo lleva la corriente (lit. a sleep shrimp is carried away by the current) (fig. You've got to keep on your toes.) And looks like Rafa IS keeping on his toes. He closed the Celeste deal. He hasn't married Vicky yet. And he hasn't lost Ale. Not really. Hang in there Rafa!

Monday 6/14/10 - Club Gancho and School's Out for Summer!!!
Since I attended a number of high school graduations last week the Alice Cooper song kept running through my head. It was fun to see all the kids very excited about the next step of their lives. Most were looking forward to going to college, some were looking forward to traveling, and some were planning to go directly to work. I vividly recall that time in my life, feeling both excited and nervous about the future. I thought I knew it all. Ha!!!
I'd love to know what everybody has in the store for the summer. Is anyone planning any trips? Planting a garden? Having company for a visit? Watching a Harry Potter or Star Wars marathon? Planning to make a purchase? Read a book?
I know Elna June is up to her earlobes in remodeling. I have always found any sort of redecorating to feel like a new beginning. Out with the old and in with the new, eh?
I think you all know what I have in store for the summer. We just got the boat's watermaker working for the first time yesterday so it looks like showers all the way to Hawaii for us, hooray!!! We set sail on July 8th and I probably won't be back until the end of August. Ten days or so to get to Oahu aboard the vessel Cinnabar, a week to fool around and provision for the return, then a leisurely sail back.
What's up with the rest of you?
