Sunday 8/25/24: Karmageddon, with a side of Guacamole: Vivir de Amor
Karmageddon will shortly arrive to deal itself to the evil ones we have discussed and analyzed to a degree that Freud and Jung would applaud. The usual questions apply:

What hasn't she done? This precocious psychopath was guilty of cruelty to her defenseless kid sister when they were children, which she concealed very well from their parents. She developed a serious case of entitlement upon discovery of her birth name and showed no gratitude to the couple who rescued her in the woods from the original kidnappers. Since arriving in the vicinity of her birth family she had wormed her way into it prior to revealing her identity and went on a mission to destroy them. She set up a situation where she appeared to save Elena's life to gain her favor. She has told more lies than we can count, including the one to steal Angeli's husband who was smart enough to not boink her. She accused Angeli of attempted murder when she actually threw herself down the stairs. She has since been guilty of embezzlement and other financial frauds. Also three murders and a kidnapping. Ongoing gaslighting of her mother, coercing her brother to backslide into gambling, potentially driving her family into bankruptcy, and emotional torture of her sister, including threats against her future baby, another attempt -- twofold -- at preventing her marriage to Jose Emilio. Arson that almost destroyed the company. As of the latest episode she is still faking amnesia, which has yet to be unmasked.

Ginebra was peeved. Sabón said he had not located Mauro; it was like he had disappeared off the earth. None of her past associates had anything to say. Sabón speculated that it was due to her... condition. She would not accept this.

El Amor no Tiene Receta, Capítulo 93 + 94 - Lunes, 29 de julio, 2024 - "Almost deaths, jail, kidnap and hands chopped off: You know the Gran Final's close"
This was a merged episode. With the help of Blue Lass I was able to write the actual recap. ¡Muchísimas gracias, amiga!
Let's just say I HATE merged episodes. I'll divide this into two parts:
#93:
We get a scene with the goodbyes (it was longer in the original #93) before Esteban and Kenzo leave. They will be monitored by the police.
As they're driving, Gin's guys drive next to them and give them a phone, it's Gin. She asks them to drop their phones. Est whines about that not being the original plan, but she doesn't care. They thow their phones and she gives them instructions where to go, saying she knows the police were monitoring them, she's not stupid. Est asks what will happen if they don't go where she wants them to and Gin replies that Kenzo's family will die. Horrified, they go where they're instructed.

We start with a very loooooong scene of Paz and Esteban showing the family some video and pictures they could not have taken/filmed and then an ultrasound, with a baby too big for Paz's flat belly, like Gema's. Maybe it's something in the water. Of course everyone gets super excited for the new baby, all the children included, because of course they do.
Kenzo and Felipa keep whining about problems THEY caused. Maybe they deserve each other.

However he told Mireya Humberto found her to be a good woman and she should honor him by recovering and living her life to the fullest.

Geez, that was a dark and depressing episode. I hope I at least made you guys laugh a bit after all this gloom.

The little kids talk with our main couple about their schoolwork. Monito feels less then, he gets encouraged. They are all still scared about what happened, their parents tell them they are searching for someone to help them deal with everything.
The teens quarrel about what to do about Ginebra. Gala and Bosco want to act, Pepa and Salo think they should let the grown-ups deal with it.
Lupita and Porfirio are in the Vila garden, courting (I don’t know how to call it otherwise, it’s sweet, and old-fashioned), Porfi asks Lupita to go steady.

Sandro is sad he can’t see Felipa. Jeronimo and Kenzo try to comfort him. Kenzo evades a question about still loving Nandy.
Lupita is weeping over the fact that she loves Porfirio. A bit random, but she makes Nandy cry over Pretty Boy Kenzo.
The CSI Mexico City are investigating Rubio’s death. Elvira still hopes Gin had nothing to do with it but Esteban and Paz are sure she’s involved. Elvira understands their fear, she wants to go see her daughter. Humber thinks they should postpone the honeymoon, Esteban agrees that they have to protect themselves.
The kids are on the roof, Gala is trying to cheer them all up. Salo is impressed with her strength. Pepa says that it’s time for him to leave the country.

El Amor No Tiene Receta #83, jueves 7/11: Happily Ever...After the Next Set of Prison Breaks
Paz emerges in her wedding getup and everyone oohs and aahs. Lupe gives her a pair of earrings for "something borrowed." For "something new," Sam hands her a drawing of an inexplicably blonde bride. Where's she supposed to put that? The camera pans to her deep cleavage. Okay, sure; plenty of room in there.
At the church, Sandro spooks when Nandy comes over to greet Kenzo. He bolts through the crowd, crashing into Mireya and upending her huge basket of flower petals. Humberto materializes to help her scoop them up, giving her significant appreciative looks. Well, it's about time. Good thing he's looking at her from the front, though, because that freakish ponytail is truly terrifying.
Now Esteban is pacing nervously. Paz is late! Where is she? We're probably supposed to worry, but we know there's a dozen more episodes and they need her for all of them. A throaty tenor launches into the Ave Maria and...it's Monito! He has to get through several iterations before the bride shows up, but by the end I'm still in awe. Is there anything this kid can't do?

Ginebra asks for water from one of the guards, but she isn’t allowed to any until she gives her answer to the Don. They start to fight and Ginebra gets the upper hand, almost kills the other woman, two other guards have to remove her and they give her a good beating. But before they leave her alone, all bloodied and sour, she manages to threaten to kill them all.

El Amor No Tiene Receta #80: Proposals
We first get a reprise of the confrontation between Ginebra and Felipa.
Humberto told Paz that there was a DNA test result showing that Samara was Vermin's daughter. He revealed that Felipa had been helpful in the investigation. Paz speculated that Ginebra would kill Felipa if she knew. Esteban thanked him for his help. They acknowledged their kinship and that each declared the other a good man. They hugged and Humberto left. Paz and Esteban talked about their children and how they had to explain recent events to them, finally concluding that Gala and Bosco should get the full truth while Sam and Eder needed something edited.

This week, the long-awaited telenovela with Fernando Colunga has finally begun! Entitled El Conde: Amor y Honor, it stars Fernando Colunga and Ana Brenda Contreras and is based somewhat on Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo. More information can be found on Telemundo's web site.
This Sunday (July 7), Telemundo will repeat all of the first five episodes! In the Pacific Time Zone (where I am), the episodes will be shown from 1 to 6 PM, PDT. My guess is that in the Eastern Time Zone they will be shown 1 to 6 PM EDT, but that's just a guess. Check with your local Telemundo station's Guia de Programmación to be sure..

On the Telemundo page, dondi and Steve just finished providing us with fantastic recaps for El Señor de los Cielos 9! Novelera has started incredible recaps for El Conde: Amor y Honor!
On the Primetime page, there's some discussion on Golpe de Suerte, but no recaps yet. Double episodes can't have made the situation better.
Meanwhile, splendid recaps are written by the El Amor no Tiene Receta gang, which includes Adriana, Blue Lass, Urban and Weirdo (me) in standalone pages!
Last but definitely not least, we have Vivir de Amor getting marvellous recaps by Diana on the Daytime page, who has the MONSTROUS task of recapping a novela with 125 episodes alone!

El Conde: Amor y Honor, the long-awaited telenovela with Fernando Colunga, will finally be shown starting tonight (Monday, July 1)!. Here are the names of some of the major members of the cast, followed by a brief account of the plot, translated from Telemundo's web site. The cast: "Fernando Colunga and Ana Brenda Contreras lead a star-studded cast including Marjorie de Sousa, Sergio Sendel, Chantal Andere, Víctor González, Helena Rojo and Omar Fierro." The plot: "'The Count: Love and Honor' is an original Telemundo series based on the Alejandre Dumas classic 'The Count of Monte Cristo'. An unjust conviction changes the life of Alejandro Galán (Fernando Colunga) and separates him from the woman he loves, Mariana Zambrano (Ana Brenda Contreras). In prison and thanks to a prisoner, he succeeds in becoming another person and returns, 17 years later, converted into a Count and ready to take revenge." El Amor no Tiene Receta, Capítulo 79 - Lunes, 24 de junio, 2024 - "When life gives you lemons, turn evil and blame life"
We first get a repeat of the last scene of the previous episode, from the "I killed Berenice" part.
Sam is sad for Gin. Paz doesn't exactly explain why Gin was taken in prison ("she did some bad things"), but then again Sam is 7. We need a psychologist for this poor child. Sam asks her if it could be a mistake like Paz's, but from Paz's face it's an obvio no. They talk about the special connection they have ever since the day they met. When Sam asks her why does she think they connected immediately, Paz says "Because I'm your-" but Esteban enters and unwillingly ruins the opportunity. They talk about Kenzo and Sam asks them what happened. Esteban says that Kenzo had a little accident, but he's getting better, it's nothing. Sam comments that they're both acting weirdly. Btw, can she see her mom? Paz and Esteban exchange some looks.

El Amor no Tiene Receta, Capítulo 78 - Viernes, 21 de junio, 2024 - "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"
ANNOUNCEMENT: Receta will only air on Monday and Friday next week. On Tuesday and Wednesday it'll be preempted by Copa de Americas and on Thursday by the presidencial debate.
We get 7 minutes of Mir and Mau talking. Mau says he didn't want to hurt her, Mir says he did, but then says things like "I can see you as much more than a monster" and leaves open some opportunities for them to be an item. Mauro gets suspicious and says he won't fall in the trap, but kisses her anyway. I hope he hasn't ordered his yoga mat yet, because I refuse to recap a yoga scene with these two.

It's that time again! Karmageddon arrives to deal itself to the evil ones we have discussed and analyzed to a degree that Freud and Jung would applaud. Evil is escalating every day as all the Deadly Sins (Pride, Greed, Wrath, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Sloth) are committed. The usual questions apply:

Guilty of at least 12 first-degree murders, mostly outside Mexico. Also guilty of unknown counts of tax evasion, financial fraud, money laundering, arson, child abduction and trafficking, child abuse, torture of an unknown number of adults, blackmail, creating false evidence of a crime (the murder of Berenice), bribery, and an unknown number of attempted murders.
Guilty also of using her sexuality to lure victims.
Before criminal sentence is passed should be sued for mental and physical health damages to her victims and any others affected by knowledge of her crimes.

El Amor no Tiene Receta #77, jueves 6/20: Cries and Whispers
Kenzo is venting histrionically to Esteban. All of this -- his ex, his kid, his not-kid, the money laundering -- is too much. He can't handle it! He feels nauseous! He wants to vomit! He must have missed the panic attack class last week and had to do a make-up lab. Esteban reminds him to breathe and assures him that they'll get through this together. After all, he's doing such a great job of managing his own household, why not take over Kenzo's, too?
Fobo continues to school Elvira in all the ways Gin is suspicious. She resists his arguments, but he points out that as her bodyguard, his first and only job is to guard her body (jeje -- he doesn't actually phrase it that way, but we're all thinking it.) He finally convinces her to "test" Gin by taking her out of the will and seeing how she reacts. Dude, are you nuts??? He better be glued to her side every second from here to the lawyer's office, because that French Shooter is still out there.
Gin rounds the corner of Casa Roble just as Esteban and Paz are disentangling from one of their shmoopy goodbyes. How did she know to go there? Did she come straight from the railyard? Oh, who cares. I only peek out from under my beanie to take notes.

El amor no tiene receta #76, Notes from the couch
Reunited and it feels like I want to cry
This is going to be a quick one, busy day ahead. Feel free to fill in the blanks.
Paz and Sam are still hugging, Sam asks why Paz is laughing and crying at the same time. Paz says she’s happy. Happy to see her beautiful face and her smile, she’s waited so long for this moment and now they are finally together. Esteban is looking at them and he gets teary eyed, too, then goes inside allowing them to be alone. Paz asks Sam if she’d like to prepare with her one of the recipes she’s been keeping for her daughter. Sam agrees, she loves cooking with Paz and loves being back in this house. They go inside together, and they walk in slow motion, which is perfect because it gives me enough time to blow my nose and wipe my eyes – I might have been ugly crying during this scene.
