De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #130/131- Mon 7/14

De que no hay pruebas, no hay pruebas

Brigitte is relieved to hear from Alonso that Alberto visited Rodrigo, but things didn't seem to "get very far" between them.  She wants him to call Al's parents, but Alonso doesn't want to worry them if he doesn't need to.  Brigitte decides she doesn't want to wait alone and calls Carmen, but Carmen is busy waiting for Natalia to come home.  "Natalia, Natalia, Natalia!" whines Brigitte yet again.  Hey, there you are, Brat…wondered where you'd gotten to!  Carmen says Natalia's had a rough day, what with finding out who her "real" parents are.  Brigitte and Lupita are both surprised to hear this.

Lupita goes to tell Paolo and drags him out to the living room so they can interrogate Carmen.

Carmen tells Brigitte who Natalia's parents are.  Brigitte says "Why's she upset, then?  This is like winning the lottery!"  Carmen gets tired of Brat's attitude, so Brat gives her some more, saying of course she's having a worse day that Nat.  Lupita wonders how Tad is Nat's father if he didn't, um, have anything to do with Carmen.  Carmen gives them the deets.  Paolo figures Tad and Irene must be thrilled to have found her.

Padre Juancho finishes giving her the story and apologizes on behalf of…pretty much everybody who knew…for not being able to find the right time to tell her.  PJ suggests she be thankful for having 3 awesome parents and just treat Irene with the same affection she always has.

Carmen keeps telling Paolo and Lupita about the great Telling Nat debacle.  Irene shows up and  Paolo and Lupita welcome Irene to the family.  PJ calls Carmen and tells her Nat listened to his explanations and seemed calmer.

Qué Pobres, Lunes 7/14/14 (#135): The Perils of Post-Liberation Stress

I feel badly about not including an earworm on Thursday's recap as Madelaine usually does, so here is one for this episode: Dizzy, in honor of Mati, Perla, and Lupe.

The Great Escape
Grandma Mati is cheery and alert in Tomas's spare room. She thanks Tom and Chuy for finding her when she was "this close" to being lost. She was dizzy and confused and couldn't remember anything, but Chuy says it was actually her bad memory that saved her, because...

Lo Que la Vida Me Robó Lunes 7/14/14 #174

Chapter 174: Eye of the Storm

Almonte Hacienda: Victor Hernandez had always been a romantic. He had begun his courtship of the beautiful Nadia Argüelles with a cart full of flowers on the estate of his best friend. In the same place he brought her a chamber orchestra for the proposal. She was delighted. Their little daughter watched them. She smiled at her parents' happiness. They had no idea what would shortly be waiting for them.

TELEMUNDO Y MÁS -- Reina de Corazones: week of July 14, 2014

Here is a separate page -- posted  a day early -- just for conversations about Reina de Corazones.

Even though a lot of people are watching and commenting, no one, as yet, has volunteered to recap on a regular basis.  Mauricio and Sara stepped up to help in the first week, and I did a couple of minicaps too.  For week two, I've agreed to write a brief summary of Monday's episode; Sara has volunteered to recap Wednesday and Friday.

Is anyone interested in writing a brief recap of Tuesday's or Thursday's episode this week?

Is anyone interested in recapping this one regularly?

Folks, if no one volunteers, we'll just have comments.  It's up to you!

Have a wonderful week!

TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: THE FRONT PAGE -- El Señor de los Cielos II, En Otra Piel, et cetera, week of July 14, 2014

As I am writing this, I see that we reached 200 comments by Sunday evening.  (We haven't done that in a while!)  Anyway, I decided to post early (Sunday night instead of Monday) and to give  Reina de Corazones its own page this week.  If the high volume of comments continues, then Jean and I  can keep the separate pages going.

While it was kind of nice to have our conversations crossing each other and for us to read over each other's shoulders on one page, at a certain point it becomes unwieldy. It began to feel as if Cielos and En Otra Piel were being drowned out.

So this is the new page for Cielos, En Otra Piel and any other Telemundo or Unimás show you feel like discussing.

Reina de Corazones comments and mini-recaps will be on a separate page.

Have a great week!

De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #128 & 129, 7/11/2014

Both Part 1 and Part 2 are now up!!

De Que Esta Comedia Se Volvio Tragedia, Se Volvio Tragedia

Recap by LatinaInMD

Part One

These comedy writers played a dirty trick on us.  Months and months of the comedy train going in circles and just when we thought the plot was heading somewhere interesting…wham…they throw a wrench in it…literally!!!!

We begin with a quick re-hash - in no particular order:  Diego continues to whine about Natalia’s infidelity, first to his “shrimpy shrink” friend and then to his dear aunt Irene, both of whom try to reason with him; alas, he jumps off the comedy train and skips town, not a moment too soon before the comedy train derails.  In the meantime, Natalia drowns her sorrows in her coffee.  In another part of town, Alberto (until now a mere sideshow in the Brigitte-Rod-Alberto “love triangle”) suddenly has plans for a future (ah, the irony!!!) with Bri, despite the countless clues she’s given him that she could care less.  Let’s start off with a weekend meal to introduce your whole family to my parents while they are in town, he says.  All she cares about is what HIS parents will think about HER family, but she appears genuinely touched when Alberto reminds her she should be proud of her family.

Natalia and her fake mama Carmen agree it’s best for her to quit her job, and she heads to Caprico to do just that.  A dapper-looking Andres (who has just come back into town) shows up at Caprico with a gorgeous bouquet of red roses, ready to grovel some more for a little bit of her love.  But she is not there yet, so he leaves the bouquet for her and departs.  Brigitte shows up at work first and just as she starts admiring the roses, grumpy grandpa shows up and she has to bear his groans and moans about all the employees who never bother to show up on time.  He’s got a point there!!!  She offers to help, but he grunts that the only thing she can do for him is locate Natalia…stat!!!  Brigitte reaches for her phone in her purse and…ooops!!!....she realizes she left it in Alberto’s car.

Lo que la vida me robó, ep. 173, Fri. 7/11/14: We'll see our grandchildren building castles in the sand...Kayn aynhoreh.*

[Kayn aynhoreh is Yiddish and it means something like "No evil eye!"  It's what you say when you've been lucky and you want to ward off envious spirits.]

Part One:  The Ogre is forced to set the Princess free.

The dark brooding ogre pounds on the door and orders the princess to let him in.  "You're going to have to live the rest of your life with the man you hate.  Open the door!"

Within the chamber, the lovely princess weeps.

The handsome prince runs to the home of Faithful Macario, and he arms himself with a pistol.  He is prepared to kill the ogre and rescue the woman he loves.  Both Macario's good woman Dominga and the old priest Anselmo try to dissuade the prince.  But the prince knows what he must do, and he will not be stopped.

Que Pobres tan Ricos #134 A-hole sues Chuy about the Menchaca house. Emiliano continues to act A-holish. Saul tries to get MA to retake his old richy rich life... Chuy's mystery is revealed!! MAAAATIII!! MAAAATIII!!!

Refrito: MA seeing a different woman in wheelchair.

Lupe tells A-hole she’s not afraid of him. He asks if she will bring a wrestler to fight him. Lupe says she is enough on her own to fight with nails and teeth for her son. A-hole changes strategy and gets pleading, asks her to come be a family with him and Emiliano. Lupe is confused at his change of statement. A-hole tries to convince her that she is and will always be the most important for Emiliano. You have nothing to lose.

MA yelling at the staff at the senior center. The manager says he was given paperwork for the woman as Matilde widow of RP… MA is still outraged.

Saul is more calm and asks them who brought Mati in. Was it ARP? Nurse says ARP sent Mati, but the one that brought her was a nurse that used to work for us(the senior home) but quit recently.

Now A-hole is trying to make Lupe believe that she is unstable temper-wise… A-hole reminds Lupe that the school director is witness to Lupe losing her cool in front of Emiliano. (come on Lupe! Wake up and smell the rat!!) Emiliano comes over and is all lovey-dovey with A-hole. Lupe is just frozen there… she even lets Emiliano go alone with A-hole.(she is THAT shocked... about how well these two get together?).

At Fonda, AS is still whinning with herself about having come back to live in the 'cuchitril'. Leo and Frida outside the penthouse door are coaching each other to calm down before they walk in. Leo gives AS two options… we either 1) stay here or 2) we go to the shelter of the indigents(basically homeless shelter).
AS wants booze. Leo and Frida won’t give her any. Leo takes DaVinci on his arm and asks AS to breathe. AS takes DaVinci back and tells DaVinci that he is the only one that understands her. (I missed the detail that Leo told DaVinci that he needed to raise his hand/leg to speak LOL! thanks forum friends!)

MA and Saul out on the street, MA is really ansi, he has to find out NOW where abuela is.

At Fonda, Chuy does not like seeing Lupe so down in spirits. Lupe says lets talk about the finances… we have a lot of expenses and have to figure out where to get more moolah. She tells Tizoc he needs to go get a job and help out. Tizoc says he is only good for ‘the cantata’. Emiliano comes down. Lupe asks him what is up. Emiliano says ‘I am fed up with eating the same thing every day. Can’t we eat something different?’ Lupe is not liking at all seeing Emiliano talk like this, so asks him 'what do you prefer? To eat or not to eat?'

Weekend Discussion: Karmageddon in Aguazul (Lo Que la Vida Me Robo)

It's that time again, amigos! Although this is a little early, the number of bad guys in this tale is such that we already see the villains turning on each other. Let's cut loose now and dish about what should happen to the evil ones in our story. As previously, we should think about it both ways:
  1. What do you think the writers will do to them?
  2. What do you think should happen to them?
Let's start with their queen and work our way down:

Lo Que La Vida Me Robo 172 - 10 July, 2014 - Stuck On Replay: Another Of Maria’s Plots Bites The Dust

It Looks Like Jose Luis  Will Allow Montserrat To Leave—Maybe
Jose Luis wants to know if Montserrat would forgive a betrayal from Alejandro. Whatever happens, he will be there waiting. Montserrat goes to pack her bags. Tomorrow she will leave the house.

I’ll Just Take The Houses and Lands; Thanks
Over at the judge’s chambers, Father Anselmo, the judge and Alejandro meet. The judge tells Padre that he trusts him completely but his declaration is too late. Father Anselmo emphatically retorts that it is never late to correct an injustice. But the judge clarifies that the tests run on the document prove forever and anon that Alejandro is the only true heir of Benjamin Almonte. Padre’s declaration does not clear Alejandro because he is already proven to be the rightful Almonte heir. As of this moment he has recovered his name, Alejandro Almonte Dominguez and all that goes with it. Congratulations!

Father Anselmo praises God for being very just. Despite all that has happened nothing has dimmed his faith. Padre encourages Alejandro and hopes he has learned from his previous errors.

Alejandro tells the Father that he is very fortunate. Not only is he recovering his name, but he is also recovering his family.

The Judge tells them that his decision is absolutely irrevocable but that it might take a while for Alejandro to recover everything. But Alejandro is way ahead of everyone else. He says that Fabiola has transferred ALL of the money to another person. He doesn’t want a penny of the money anyway. Anselmo is appalled by yet another miscarriage of justice, and he asks,

“Who ended up with the money?”
“Graciela Mendoza,” answers Alejandro.

The Judge recognizes her name as the woman who formerly perjured herself in the matter of Don Benjamin’s will. Padre Anselmo wants to know – How did that happen?

Qué Pobres, Jueves 7/10/14 (#133): Carrots and Sticks

Hola, amigs. I am filling in for Madelaine this evening.

So MA makes his triumphant return to the fonda, and Lupita greets him with a punch in the face. MA has no idea why, but he tries to apologize anyway, and he even mentions the letter (that he doesn't know Lupita never got) but Lupe is too angry to think about it.

MA says he apologized to Mini too, and she took it a lot better than Lupe is, "and then something weird happened." Again, Lupe is too angry to focus on the "something weird" and thinks "apology" is a strange way to describe being naked in bed with Minerva. (Perla and Carmelita are listening at the door, by the way.)

MA doesn't know what Lupe is talking about and says "wow, after all this time I would have thought you'd know me better than that" and Lupe replies sarcastically "you're right about that!" She gives back his swanky hand-crafted upcycled PVC engagement ring, but don't worry! Her finger won't be naked very long!

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #126 & 127, 7/10/14

De que terminaron para siempre, terminaron para siempre (o así se dicen)

The Good
Mara’s mom is DEAD!!! Yay! If she made peace with Mara before she kicked the bucket, we never see it. I’m guessing she went out like the bitch she was, despite what Padre says about her repenting. At the funeral home, some of her equally witchy church lady friends talk about Mara and Paolo when they go off to get coffee, and vow to separate them as a sign of respect to Mara’s mom. Carmen overhears, and in a very firm, but polite way tells them that Paolo is her son, stop talking behind people’s backs, Mara’s mom is now with God (just where she needs to be), and SHE and her family will be taking care of Mara now, so back off bitches! The next day, Mara returns to her mom’s apartment (decked out in God and Jesus bling) with Paolo, and lights candles next to the box of her mom’s ashes. She cries about being all alone now, and Paolo tells her she’s not alone. She has him!

La Jaiba suffers almost her whole bus ride listening to a babbling nun sitting next to her. She’s glad to see the back end of the nun when she gets off the bus, but then gets a new seatmate in the form of a very large man. She celebrates when she finally gets home to Veracruz—she’ll be able to start over with the money she made from the sale of La Jaiba Loca since she sold it above the real value. She opens her suitcase, looking for her money, and finds…bibles, crosses, and black nun’s clothes. She remembers back to the gabby nun carelessly grabbing a suitcase, HER suitcase, from the overhead compartment as she got off the bus and started her missionary journey to far off lands. I bet those poor kids in Africa will be grateful for the money. Ha! It’s back to hooking on the streets for Jaiba.

The return Lo que LA Vida me robo 171 07/09/2014

I hope you all had plenty of tissues on hand tonight because this episode brought on the feels! I swear ninjas broke into my house and started to cut up onions-and my eyes got all moist...that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Now on to the recap, enjoy!

Dude,our mom is a scumbag:

Fabiola, our resident drunk is now behind bars, how she has managed to survive without her wine is anyone's guess, she tells her new found siblings that Graciela is a big fake, everything about her is a lie, including her name. She explains that Amalia told her the truth about Graciela, she was born in poverty to a seamstress and her real name is Gaudencia! She also explains that she got tricked into transferring all her money to one of her mothers accounts only to be ditched. Alejandro and Montserrat feel for her-and Alejandro offers to get her a lawyer to help reduce the time she spends in prison but he makes it clear that he can not forgive her and he tells her that she needs to pay for the fraud she committed and for stealing seven years of his life.

Pobres, Wednesday: World-cup shunting claims another victim

Hi guys, the game was wrapping up when I left home last night, so I assumed my extra hour of recording time would be enough to catch our show. Unfortunately it went way late and I only captured the first 15 minutes!

I couldn't find recordings of the episode in the usual places online, so I'll just do what I can with what i've got!

Lupita is confused - where's her boyfriend? The family attempts to comfort her. Leo also wonders where he is, wants to call the policuqui, but Saul says they gotta wait 24 hours.

HAHAHA Mini, her mom, and Ahole struggling to heave Mike into the bed. Ahole wants the discovery to seem natural and insults the ladies (he calls them plásticas).

Emiliano continues to be a little twerp. Lupe's mom wants her to chill out and drink her tea.

Don Chuy is caught on a mysterious mission (is he going to get booze for AS or something)?

At the hospital (AS got put there for drinking), Leo says bye to Diego who has been there with him all night for Leo (what a mensch, she's always been so awful to him). Diego leaves to go teach futbol.

Ahole shows up to try to drive Lupita and Emiliano, presumably to take the kid to school and then just "happen" to discover Mike w/ Mini.

Saul has clearly sold himself out, and he goes whole-hog into a product placement for cellphones so noxious I couldn't even make out what the pretense was. They even play that tinkly commercial music in the background. Uniphone?

Here's the worst thing I saw tonight... Ana Sofia tells her son that she'll only consider getting better and going to AA if he breaks up with the futbolista. SO bad. Yuk yuk yuk.

Anybody who stuck with the show till the end (it must have been midnight or later), please fill us in with what else happened. Thanks!!!!!!!

Mi Corazón es Tuyo (My Heart is Yours) - Main Characters

Ana (Silvia Navarro)

is in a job she despises, and she has just lost the home she struggled to own… she knows she has to “start over”…

On account of some clerical error at an employment agency, Ana finds herself applying for the job of “nanny” to a wealthy widower, Fernando Lascuraín, with seven difficult children. Somehow, without credentials and/or a cultured background, Ana manages to charm the children and make them show signs of beginning to recover from the loss of their mother.

Meanwhile, Fernando, their father pursues a woman with a suitable pedigree, but it becomes increasingly obvious that he smitten with Ana, and Ana is smitten with him!

Fernando Lascurain (Jorge Salinas)

appreciates order and discipline.  He is father of seven kids and has been a widower for a year now.  He doesn't drink, smoke, or otherwise enjoy the finer things in life..... As a businessman, he is widely respected, especially since he heads a finance company.  He's totally buried himself in his work, thinking to provide his kids  with the very best in life, but has actually neglected giving them what they need most: his love and his affection.  Ana's arrival will have a great impact on him as it will awaken his passion for life, now gone since the death of his wife.

Isabela Vázquez de Castro (Mayrín Villanueva)

is the object of Fernando's affections, but his kids don't want her around.  She's a sophisticated executive with a number of Masters' Degrees from numerous universities around the world.  She's extremely beautiful and knows it.  Her gain, everybody else's loss.....  The woman is calculating and manipulative and could care less who she steps on to get what she wants--and she wants Fernando.....along with the status and life of unbounded luxury that being Sra. Lascurain offers.     However, his kids care for Ana more.

Diego Lascurain (Pablo Montero) is Fernando's brother and polar opposite.  He lacks commitment, has lots of charm and loves to party.

Bruno (René Casados) is the loyal majordomo of the Lascurain manse.

Jennifer (Fabiola Campomanes) is Ana's crass best friend and a waitress at Club Chicago.

Yolanda (Carmen Salinas)
is Isabela's mother, a woman who married a wealthy man and who is advising/guiding her daughter to do the same.

Johnny (Adrián Uribe) is Ana's current, loser boyfriend and her manager.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #124/125- Wed 7/9

De que los hombres no tienen ni idea, no tienen ni idea

Hola, amigas/os.  Again I want to thank Kat for taking my place this past month.  I just got in from being out this evening but wanted to leave a space for you all to chat among yourselves while I cook up this recap.

The Brat yells at Natalia for “rescuing” her from a really shady doc.  (Earlier a poor young woman tells the doctor her bleeding hasn’t stopped and he says its normal.  That wasn’t a big enough sign for Brat but often clueless Karina was horrified.)  She forbids Nat to tell anyone about this and guess who drives up?  Of course, its Diego.

Que pobres tan ricos July 8: Some cry and drink, one dances, one goes to jail in pink pajamas, and one has a bottle of chloroform and knows how to use it...

Poor Wilma in her fuzzy pink jammies is woken by the police who take her away in chains, accusing her of fraud and delinquent associations.

Don Chuy and Ana Sofia are getting so drunk. She tells him: My father was an important Italian businessman, he seduced one of his maids and I was born. He gave me his name and took me to live with him. It wasn't a bad childhood, but I was always ashamed of my past, of the mother I never knew and didn't want to know. Please don't judge me harshly, and promise on what you hold most sacred to keep my secret."

Lo que la vida me robó, ep. 170, Tues. 7/8/14: Ezequiel Basurto is one lucky bastard. So far.

The banner on the building promises Paz y Espiritu -- Peace and Spirit.

In this dive, alas, the peace is pharmacologically-induced.  As for the spirit, it's strictly BYOB (Bring your own Bible).

Padre Anselmo adds to the cache of pills under his mattress, then sits down heavily, a portrait of misery and exhaustion.  He looks ancient.  How long, we wonder, has he been fooling his captors?

The Mendoza Mansion glows rosy in the night.
Carlota, Montserrat and Alejandro sit within the beautiful family home and try to make sense of Ezequiel Basurto's strategic revelation.

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #122/123- Tues 7/8

The recap is not happening. I just discovered that despite the red blinking light, my DVR was NOT recording and I don't have anything to recap. None of my scheduled recordings are recording. I've just spent the last 30 minutes on the phone with these people and I am mad as a hornet. And I have to wait until MOnday to get a tech out here because we are going out of town tomorrow.

Changing cable providers was supposed to solve these kinds of frustrations.

Discuss. I'm going to try and meditate or something. It's just TV, right?

De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #120/121- Mon 7/7

De que pasaron la noche juntos, pasaron la noche juntos!

I must have been ignoring Kimberly on Friday, because I remembered her showing up at lunch, but I did not remember her telling the Boss that she would be marrying El soon, nor the Boss inviting himself to be their witness for the wedding.  Awkward.  But that's where the refrito starts in, followed by Brat ignoring Rod's calls and trying to talk herself out of being pregnant; Carmen telling Paolo and Angela that Big Abdul was going to free Abdul from his sex-induced stupidity; Mally's dine-and-dash; and Brat sobbing over luxury apartments she'll never have.

On to today…

Irene, Diego, and Natalia arrive at Casa Tad for dinner.  Elena happily announces that Tad's in his studio…painting!  Irene goes to check on him, but he won't show her what it's working on.  She giddily announces that Nat is THEIRS, as confirmed by the DNA test results.  On a less-happy note, she confronted Vicente already and he denied any wrongdoing, as usual.  Tad vows to make him pay, but he's got a tight deadline to accomplish that.  Irene calms him down, but she still wants to take her sweet time telling Natalia that she's their daughter.  Tad agrees to put his dreams of seeing Vicente behind bars on hold for the sake of Nat's delicate sensibilities.

Mara's mom is a crappy patient.  Even the nurse tells Mami Dearest to back the hell off and let her tired daughter get five minutes of rest.  Mami Dearest accuses Mara of abandoning her.
